THE FAITH OF PROPHET JONAH
The Word of God came to Jonah, He was a prophet of great honor, God sent him to Nineveh to warn, He avoided going for his faith was not strong. God has the whole world in His hands, Jonah proved this when he tried to escape to distant lands, God brought a great wind that shook the ship, Not to trouble them but to build a strong relationship. Jonah understood that he was the problem, He…

There’s no way he’s going to get it without a little help. After a moment, she gets an idea. She points up at the constellations he was describing earlier. Eric frowns. “Sky? Uh…” She pushes his cheek to direct his line of sight, then does her best to draw the ram constellation. “Aries?” All right, good job. She gestures for him to say it again. He does, and she holds a hand up to his lips before he can say the s at the end of the word. “Arie-? Ari-e?” She runs a finger down his lips as he says it again. “Arie-? Ari-el?” Yes! She bobs her head excitedly. Eric grins at her. “Ariel. That’s a beautiful name. Written in the stars.” They gaze at each other, and for Ariel it feels magnetic, like everything in this moment was set up just for them.

When Gerry tells Jon, in Mag 111, “[my mother] marked me as a part of [the fears] without my understanding or consent,” there’s no way Jon doesn’t relate to this on a deeply personal level. They were both groomed into this world of terror and monsters, and neither of them really had a say in it until it was too late.
Elias loves to say that Jon “chose” his path (the path the Web and Elias himself carefully crafted for him), and the listener can of course argue how much choice he had on nearly every decision he makes in the story.
But this doesn’t detract from the intense betrayal and hurt Jon must have felt at realizing that his boss and mentor—someone Jon clearly sought to please when he got the job, someone Jon might have viewed as filling a surrogate parental role in his life, in the absence of having any family of his own—had been secretly shaping and molding him to be something that hurts and destroys on a massive scale. He didn’t understand that he was losing his humanity for the longest time, either, making it even more tragic that his conscious morally grey choices only begin late into his involvement with the Fears.
Jon knows how Gerry feels probably better than anyone alive, in this moment. And you can tell it hurts Jon so much more to know the first real friend he makes in the world of the Entities, the first kind, GOOD ally he makes he won’t be able to keep. Like fucking ships in the night

Guionista: Chip Zdarsky Dibujante: Michael Allred Publicación original: Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man Annual Vol 1 #1 (2018)
— Robbie Robertson: ¿Ese era Peter…? — J. Jonah Jameson: … ¿Has indagado? — J. Jonah Jameson: No soy idiota, Robbie, por supuesto que lo he hecho. Y si las fotos no valen, no las compraremos. Es solo que este crío… este crío necesita ayuda.

New Beginnings
This title page from 1664 depicts the biblical prophet, Jonah, having been swallowed by a whale and spat out again days later.
Best wishes to all for 2024!

“Ariel allows herself a moment to gaze at his face. She suddenly realizes that this is the first human she’s seen up close. How marvelous! And he’s quite beautiful, she thinks, her face heating slightly. It’s the hunger in his expression as he views the open sea. It’s the longing in his words. Nothing at all like the barbarians, with sharp teeth and hate in their eyes, that her father described. No, the more Ariel stares, the more she recognizes pure wonder in this human’s eyes.”

Notice how every time JJJ finds out it’s Peter under the mask, his tune changes. Every comic arc, every elseworlds rendition, all of it.
Jameson never hated Spider-Man as a person. He hates the idea of masked men running around dealing what they believe to be justice, with no sense of accountability if their judgement goes wrong. The reason he’s so vocal and harsh is because hero worship has a chance of making the public think “this person can do no wrong.” When that happens, there’s no chance being held accountable when they do the wrong thing.
The second he knows it’s Peter, he knows that if there’s one hero that’s going to hold himself accountable for everything, it’s Spider-Man, because he knows Peter has the moral fiber to call himself out and make things right if he gets it wrong.
