Every goddamn day, I think about how Chameleon was a very stupid episode, but for the exact opposite reason that I initially thought it was.
I always thought it was because the entire class was acting unreasonably stupid, but they were actually pretty reasonable, all things considered.
It was Marinette's writing that was the issue.
You're not gonna complain about your assigned seat being moved around to accommodate a disabled new student, nor demand proof of her disability, that would just be a dick move. (It doesn't make sense for the ENTIRE CLASS to be moved around, but I'll ignore that point because it's just kind of a nitpick.)
Many members of the class have personally met at least one celebrity, with a few classmates even being celebrities themselves. Lila's stories are certainly out there, even by this class' standards. But it's her first day, and again, most regular people don't hound others for proof on claims like this, even the ridiculous claims. (It doesn't make sense for the class to be so enthralled by her stories, but I would just chalk that up to them being nice to the new kid. The show does get kind of ridiculous with how much the class trusts her later on though.)
Lila could've absolutely caught that napkin on instinct. It would've hurt, but she wouldn't be thinking about her injury because that's how instincts work. Lila actually almost drew unnecessary attention to herself by making up that "explanation" on the spot, as protecting herself with her injured wrist needed no defending in the first place.
The only reason Marinette knew about Lila's lies to Adrien is because she stalked the two of them, which Alya and Nino are rightfully distrustful of. (It's still completely stupid for them to ignore her story entirely though. That's potential evidence of Lila lying to someone. At the very least, they should've verified the story with Adrien. But they just completely blew it off, and that point is never brought up again.)
From the class' perspective, Marinette complained about accommodations made for the new girl's disability because she wasn't allowed to sit close to her crush anymore, demanded hard evidence of the new girl's claims despite having some ridiculous celebrity stories herself, threw a napkin at her, potentially making her wrist injury even worse when she protected herself out of pure instinct, and then stormed off when that didn't work out in her favor.
I don't like this episode, not because of the way the class was acting, but because they took the girl who is supposed to be the smartest character in the show, and had her make probably the worst possible decision in every single situation. There are fatal flaws that cause characters to make understandable mistakes, and then there are characters just ignoring the obvious right answers because that would make far too cohesive of a plot, I guess.
They could've literally had some Spy vs Spy esque shenanigans between Lila and Marinette where neither can openly admit what they both know the other knows and have to skirt around social barriers in order to make the other look bad while saving face themselves. That would not only write itself, but would make more sense given their respective characterizations and would allow for much more interesting drama and character dynamics across multiple seasons.

for the WIP ask game... The Future Is Still Silver and Black? (original train fiction from you two sounds really interesting!)
So last year, I went up north to visit Ray. Ray lives in Chicago, which just so happens to have the largest railway museum in the United States, the Illinois Railway Museum.
At the IRM, we saw the Nebraska Zephyr, which is a streamlined stainless steel articulated trainset. Each of the cars in this train are named after Greek/Roman goddesses. Venus, Vesta, Minerva, Ceres, and Juno. It's really quite striking. And the train is pulled by an EMD E5 (the only surviving E5 in fact) named Silver Pilot.
Tumblr media
The next day we went to the Museum of Science and Industry. There we saw the Pioneer Zephyr, the first of the Burlington Zephyrs.
Tumblr media
So after we get out of the MSI, we're sitting in the Metra station, waiting for the train, and we're doing Independent Research on our phones. Because the concept of the Nebraska Zephyr is great, right? Five beautiful cars all named after goddesses. And that is when we learn that Silver Pilot did not originally belong to this train.
"Those aren't even his bitches," Ray said to me.
So over the next few months, we did more Independent Research. And every new piece of information we found about Silver Pilot just made his story even better. The whole thing is fuckin' wild and we had to DIG to find almost all of it. It's insane because the engine has this amazing story - a story that Ray often points out would sound contrived if it wasn't true - and apparently no one has cared until a pair of fucking cunt dorks went to the train museum.
Comparatively, the Pioneer Zephyr was easy to find more about. Its history is extremely well-documented and lots of people in the past have been fucking cunt dorks about that train. The thing about the Pioneer Zephyr though is that it was made in the early 30's, right? And Burlington promoted this train in a way almost... vaudevillian. It broke the land speed rail record on its way to its debut at the 1934 World's Fair (outdoing its competitor from the Union Pacific, M-10000 only a couple months after it broke the record), it went on an exhibition tour, there were commemorative letter covers given for its service milestones, there was a ride-on children's toy made of it, it starred in a movie!
So me and Ray were now thoroughly enthralled by these two separate but related trains and how different their service lives were - and continue to be - when we get an idea.
We'd considered the idea of trains writing letters to each other before, but it's a little human for them in general, particularly for working engines who are busy. Although I was quite pleased when I was able to report to Ray that there was indeed an episode of TTTE where Thomas sends Percy a postcard.
But these guys are both preserved and while Pilot still works, the IRM is only really open on weekends. They got time. They have people with hands who can read and write who also have time.
DJ: Oh, what if they send each other letters? Ain't like they've got anything else going on. Ray: c2c. I was thinking about them being pen pals. Especially since they live so close, the letters don't take long to arrive. They can be short and sweet. DJ: Gives them something to look forward to. Ray: You can send some a few times a year and not be overwhelming with the information.
Which was all well and good, but then I found something practically serendipitous. A sign that this was the way to go.
So remember how Pioneer had all these publicity stunts and events done for it? On its tenth anniversary, they made a six foot birthday cake and rigged up an eight-foot-long knife such that the train could pull forward, break a ribbon, and cut its own birthday cake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of this cake was given to veteran and child hospital patients, but individual pieces were also sent off to each of Pioneer's "brothers" and a hundred-ish other fellow streamliners across the country.
With a letter.
DJ: Raymond. There's a train letter IN the Pioneer Zephyr book. FROM the Pioneer Zephyr. About his birthday party. Although he does say in it that he only has brothers. Ray: OH MY GOD. How did we know??? Are we just that fucking good???? Do we just know and perceive the truth THAT well. DJ: It's too fucking cute. Ray: The fact that he is a he and also says he has brothers is revolutionary. That almost strains the limits of credulity, knowing how Train Guys are about calling engines "she". But I know you would not lie to me about this. Can you scan it?????
Tumblr media
The fucking train actually, canonically, wrote a letter.
So yeah, the trains are pen pals. And they write to each other about their past and but moreso about their present. Because as it happens, their history post-preservation is interesting too (as I'm sure you can relate) and there's far less said about it already.
The first batch of letters are done, we're just getting some other materials together before we can publish.
EDIT: people are reblogging this again so just editing to add that you can read the train letters here.

The animation was pretty good, the one thing that bugged me to no end were charlie and vaggies bangs they were really distracting and just off character models but the animators put their all, the camera and editing isn’t good. BG/props/color keys were great but too great like it eat the characters up so much, not even Scott pilgrim or castlevania nocturne had this problem Voice acting was ok. Erika is the best thus far Alastor and nifty are alright, Vaggie Angel and husk were rough, Vaggie just sounds dead, Angel goes from sounding like a nasally teenager to trying to sound like Michael, and Keith doesn’t fit husk. They dropped a new clip of husk and Angel. You can hear Kieth David more and he drops the gruff and sticks with his smooth voice and it doesn’t work with Husk. I know people are tired of hearing this but Keith voice doesn’t fit Husk.
Vox and Vel were really good. I thought adam was bad (he is he’s really bad) but man Valentino is terrible, he’s not menacing, he’s keeping changing accents and he’s voices cracks so much it’s funny but also sad I can’t take him seriously he’s such a joke. This was the guy everyone was hyping up on the crew and fanart? People were saying the dialogue sheets they got leaked were old, they were not old, some of the stuff that was on that sheet made to the Final Cut except worse somehow.
people were saying sir pent new va was good and I heavily disagree he sounds worse than the pilot VA. I couldn’t stand his voice.
agreed on the animation/bg/props/color remarks. especially how Charlie & Vaggie's bangs were distracting, they really were especially when it seems like it was such a struggle keeping them on-model making it even more distracting. for the voice acting it's really interesting to me seeing so many different takes on the VA's various performances.
i do think having many of the fans so enthralled with the pilot, hearing voices that are different is jarring, especially if they don't feel like they add up to or match the previous voices' performances or tones. replacing the cast was a really iffy decision and many are insistent it never should've happened while others feel there "had" to have been *some* reason for it. and of course replacing pilots casts isn't unheard of--Billy West voiced Zim in the IZ Pilot episode and we all know that changed, and Richard Horvitz knocked it out of the park and made Zim into an extremely memorable character for many.
but i won't deny there are some obvious weaknesses. these are my personal takes on the voice acting, and you may disagree:
-Charlie was fine, in some points very good, fun execution. the only thing i wasn't a fan of was the "voice breaking about to cry bc this story i'm reading is just so sad" moments she had while reading the "creation story" at the beginning of the first episode, made me cringe. and i do agree with others who've said her cussing felt out of place. (some were fine/ok enough, but others weren't) -Vaggie was...weird, it felt like her voice didn't match, but i got used to it. tho i agree with what some have said how her voice was "too" low-emotion to the point it was bland. i felt her saying "fuck" in her "what the *FUCK* was that" at Alastor felt forced--later swears were ok--and her duetted line in Charlie's Happy Day In Hell song sounded so off that it startled me. -Angel Dust was in and out--his first few lines were *very* rough. voice was all over and cracked in a way that wasn't natural or charming, felt more to me of an "I'm trying too hard to do a specific voice" type of crack/strain. tho i think it either smoothed out or i got used to it bc i didn't notice it the rest of ep 1 or all of ep 2. -Alastor was fine to me. many say they prefer Ed's performance but i haven't seen the pilot since it came out so i'd have to rewatch to say for sure if i feel it's any sort of "downgrade". but i *did* notice, twice, there were lines where they just suddenly dropped his radio filter? that was really weird. it felt like it was supposed to be for...idk...emphasis? like "oh he meant that the filter turned off" but it was just jarring. i also know some feel that they toned down the radio filter too far, but i thought it was okay, and as someone who has a hard time hearing words if they aren't crystal clear, i had a much easier time understanding Alastor in these first 2 episodes than i did in the pilot. -Husk didn't jar me, Keith seemed fine, but again having not seen the pilot in years and Husk having less lines (i think?) i can't remember what Husk originally sounded like. but you're probably right about the gruff getting lost in his lines later. overall it kinda sounded like Keith really enjoyed the cussing and i'm kinda solidly divided on if that made it feel more forced or more natural. -Nifty i *think* was good/decent? she had fewer lines and very brief moments so they went by quickly. -Vox was good, no complaints -Vel was also good, no complaints -Val, like you say, was a mess. right from the get-go his accent was all over the place. it was there, then it wasn't, then another accent was, then it wasn't, then finally several lines later he slipped into this deeper "sexy" accent and i finally was like "oh *that's* what accent it's supposed to be"--he literally would flip-flop between "saucy/menacing voice with an accent" to "flat American voice that's literally just some guy" and it was bewildering. -Adam i loved and i personally feel Alex nailed the lines, i think if anyone else did it he would've been insufferable to me--but i can see how some felt Adam came off badly / too strong. he made me laugh, altho i kinda expect as a character he's going to get worse, it was only his initial appearance that amused me and to reiterate from my last post i lowkey suspect it only made me laugh so much bc the episode so far had already worn me down. -Lute i wanna say was fine but i kinda frankly don't remember. -Sir Pentious was fine to me--really silly--but i again am gonna say i barely remember his pilot voice so i can't say if it's a downgrade to me or not. hearing it w/o remembering what Stamper's performance was like had me feeling like it was a good voice, and he had good moments that made me chuckle. -Katie Killjoy i already mentioned in a previous post but i *really* don't know what they were thinking having Brandon not only voice her but not even do anything unique with it? it was jarring and felt super out-of-place to me. i honestly think his execution was pretty mid as well. i think that's everyone? lmk if i forgot any or you wanna know anything else. and ty for giving me your two cents in the ask!

How was Andor? I haven’t seen it yet, and I haven’t seen people talking about it either.
I found the first two episodes interesting, but slower than I would have liked, and I was very distracted by wondering how they were going to fit this with Cassian's backstory from the movie or if we're headed into full retcon territory. Aside from the first 10-15 minutes, the show didn't feel as Star Wars-esque to me as I would have liked, not enough recognizable aliens, not enough Imperial presence or aesthetics to connect it to this era. The show is incredibly well acted and the writing is really strong so far, the effects and set pieces all looked incredible, it feels like a ton of money went into this and was well spent. I enjoy all the new characters, some of them I'm already willing to die for, and Diego Luna always delivers. It just didn't feel like Star Wars to me for a good chunk of the first few episodes, which is why I'm really glad they released three of them together, that that was a smart decision. The third episode is where the show hit its stride for me, though, when Luthen appears, he's so much more strongly tied to his efforts against the Empire and Cassian starts talking about the Empire more, that's when the pace of the show picks up, both in atmosphere and pacing, for me. The show has 12 episodes, it can afford a slower start, and while I might wish--a little bit--that we'd hit the ground running or that Cassian was already embedded in the Rebellion, by the time episode three was wrapping up, I was on the edge of my seat. It's an intense series of scenes in the back half of that episode and the show really feels like it knows what themes it wants to embrace (fuck the Empire, fuck the police, fuck Karn in particular) and has the ability to make scenes grab me by the throat. I feel like it's a little early to say overall yet, I can see why some people might be bored, why other people might be enthralled, why other people might be on the fence. Personally, I think it's tremendously well-made, I'm just hoping the pacing stays brisker and that it sticks harder to known SW elements and politics, so it feels more part of the SW universe. What we have so far is solidly entertaining 2.5 episodes, and then an absolutely thrilling back half of episode 3, so I'm excited about where this is going!

Do you sometimes (often) think how Puen looks at Talay's face and everything else just fades on the background (like in the famous lays ad where talay fed random girl and this made puen want to eat him out right there and then)? he only sees Talay and his pretty moles, his beautiful eyes and long lashes and cherry lips... and how this started to happen to Talay too and how embarrassed Talay was when this happened for the first time and he stared at Puen's face for so long Two pinched his arm to attract Talay's attention (and Talay badmouthed himself that he behaves like characters from Puen's shojo manga). And how with every year deeper into their husbandship Talay is less embarrassed and more loud about what he loves in Puen.
I see so clearly how they lie on their sides and Talay says that the efforts they put into the repair paid off because the sun's rays from the window fall so beautifully on Puen's face and yada yada... and Puen becomes so red he hides under the blanket
I ACTIVELY TRY /NOT/ TO THINK ABOUT THIS ACTUALLY BECAUSE IF I DO MY HEART STARTS TO HURT AND BEFORE I KNOW IT IM LYING IN MY BACKYARD WAITING FOR THE EARTH TO JUST TAKE ME AND LET ME BECOME ONE WITH IT WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT'S HAPPENING RN
the thing is.. the world always had a tendency to slip away from them any time they were together, even before they got back to their universe. remember how in episode 10 puen started to clean talay's face and then they basically confessed to each other right in front of up and aou's salad? and then how later in the same episode kita had to go retrieve their asses because they had a film festival to attend to but they were too busy flirting to keep up with everyone else? not that they ever particularly cared about people being around even when they were aware of them, considering they held hands INSIDE UP'S POPCORNS BUCKET
and i've never particularly liked endless lingering stares in BLs for a few reasons, one of which being that they're just not very realistic, but when it comes to puentalay i can actually BELIEVE that they are so enthralled by each other that they simply can't stop LOOKING. and it's interesting how in the alternate universe it's not even a physical thing, because those aren't even their real bodies, so it's their souls that they're so taken by. it becomes physical only once they're back home, because of course it does: they love each other regardless of their appearance, but that becomes dear to them nonetheless
puen stares at tess in talay's body, talay stares at puen's face from behind a screen, and in those eyes, in the shapes of that nose, in the lines of those lips, they recognize a reflection of the soul they love. we didn't get to see it, but we know they spent endless hours memorizing each other's features down to the smallest detail, puen more unabashedly than talay, at least at first, and they're gonna keep doing that with every year that passes, their bodies changing with age and yet still cherished and beloved to them like their younger ones
no wonder that in our skyy, during flirting day, talay decided to flirt by leaving a message to puen that said 'staring at the computer, i have blurred vision, so can i stare at you instead?': he plans to look at puen and make him blush in the process for the rest of their lives

🔥I’m interested in your LeoNeed is better than Wonderland Showtime opinions🔥
Well Ruikasa shippers are fucking annoying.
This post was sponsored by Audible-
Okay so jokes aside. Putting aside fandom grievances, how did Leo Need my least favorite band start to rise above Wonderland now one of my most hated?
So yeah I didn’t like Leo/Need at first. I honestly wasn’t too enthralled with the idea of childhood friends which… I’ll be honest, I think I was just projecting my own experience of my childhood friend becoming my bully onto that. I was like ‘Ugh is it really so bad if Shiho wants to leave the band?’ partly because I was thinking of how my friend started to spread rumors about me for being clingy. But we don’t have time to unpack all that. I think the event that made me start to really like Leo/Need was the Stage Of Sekai event. Ironically the LN event from before was probably my peak boredom with the group, having to spend a whole event on writing lyrics, but Shihos struggles and the push and pull between her friends wanting to help and not being experienced as her so she wanted them to be able to relax was so refreshing and it made Shiho start to rise through the ranks as one of my favorites. I started picking up on more of Honamis silly and neurotic tendencies, and Ichikas shy but goal oriented personality. And like. There are still things I have problems with. Their sekai is probably the most boring (just a school? Why not an observatory?) and I also get very annoyed at how Ichika hogs the mic during songs. I also think that the hard rock songs like teratera and Peaky Peaky are more fitting to their brand than slow soft ones like Made To Order, but that’s probably just me. But I started to reread some older events and I realized how strong a team they are. I loved watching them slowly march forward, their set goal, the discussion of what makes musicians create. Even the Miku software thing, while it’s pretty egregious product placement in a game that is a literal giant product placement, shows a want to understand how to make music. They very much go over how yes, achieving your dreams isn’t easy, and you will have to work hard and it might not be at the same pace as others so you’ll just have to commit which is a theme they commit to (unlike Wonderland does later but I’ll get there when I get there) and also Saki is a great character when you get her out from being ‘Tsukasa’s sister’. She’s incredibly peppy despite the fact she lost so much of her childhood and even because of that so she has to make up for it now. They write her illness well, and I adore how even though Shiho is strict, she will drop everything and make sure Saki is okay if she pushes herself too hard.
Okay now Wonderland…. Um…. So I read ahead some of the events and I remember being so upset at the ending of Arc 1 Wonderland. One of the most mature ideas in the game was that this high school friend group couldn’t last forever, but that was okay, they were going in different directions with their different dreams but they’d treasure these memories forever. The scene of the group hug where they cry together hit me hard. And I’m fine if a story wants to be a coffee shop au where nothing bad happens. But a cop out? Oooooh I get mad when a story spends so long building up that something sad will happen, and then it cheats out of that happening at the very last second. And yes I know it’s a gacha game they weren’t gonna make their most popular group disband but I think there was a very easy fix to this. Just have them split apart and post timeskip, have an inciting incident that gets the gang back together and show how they’ve changed. And boy does it make it feel like the last few events ruminating on this were filler when this happens. And that’s not the only event that feels like filler. Tell me what was the point of the stranded on an island event? Nothing of significance happened there, it felt like watching a filler episode with the ‘Were going our separate ways’ part tacked onto the end to give it meaning. Like do the writers even know what to do with these guys? These are good characters who are being put to waste! Oh yeah and also there’s that racist event that weirdos treated like 9/11 was happening when it wasn’t put in the English version. Sorry they hit the fucking Ruigon I guess, wish you’d show this same enthusiasm for literally anything else in the game.

Kill la Kill Review!
Hello, everyone! In this anime review, I'll be going over one very interesting anime: Kill la Kill!
Tumblr media
So, Kill la Kill is an action/comedy anime that first aired in 2013. It is 24 episodes long and has one bonus episode (they call is a special for some reason, even though it's a totally normal episode...).
To begin with, let's talk about this anime's main strengths: the art and animation. From the very first second, I was stunned by how good-looking this anime is. It has a very retro style and smooth animation that has aged perfectly in almost ten years now. It's not beautiful by the usual standards of animation, but there's just something about how it looks that will take your breath away. Not to mention that it somehow fits with the anime itself. It's one of those anime you'll recognize by the art style (which is honestly pretty rare).
The plot is simple yet intricate. It's an action anime, so that's pretty straightforward, but the intrigue and mystery are interesting. I won't call it the story of the century, but it has a great start and great ending that more than make up for the few episodes in the middle that aren't as captivating. Honestly, just the concept (which I won't spoil here) is super creative. It sounds ridiculous when said out of context, but in practice, it's really good. Also, I'm pretty sure it's an historical reference, somehow, but I couldn't quite get it.
Another strength this anime possesses is its music. Damn, the OST of this anime is a banger. Maybe it's just me, but a few tracks gave me some Persona vibes, and honestly, it really does the job well. The openings are also great, especially the second one (in addition to looking good visually).
Of course, since this is an action anime, it's filled with fights. Well, thanks to the stunning animation, there's no issue to report on that front. It's smooth and very enthralling - albeit quite graphic, so keep that in mind. This is an anime meant for an adult audience, anyway. The dynamics this anime uses during the action scenes are also very original and tied with the plot extremely well.
The cast is good. A few characters definitely shine more than the rest, although I don't think any of them is really that memorable. However, I have to say this anime has excellent dynamics going on between the characters. That's some really great stuff, and it's developed well.
Finally, this anime is almost entirely fanservice. There are plenty of naked people and more than a few sexual jokes/references. However, this anime excels in making it make sense. It's not pointless fanservice, the way you see it in most anime. Nudity is an important theme in the story (believe it or not) and they actually handle the fanservice with care, which is rare! Usually, you feel the writers were trying to communicate with the viewer's... you-know-what rather than to their brain, but it's not the case here. That's pretty impressive, honestly.
Overall, I can only recommend this anime. It's very distinctive from the rest and has a few great things going for it. Good stuff!
Down below is the tierlist for the main characters! Thank you for reading this review!

Yong-pal (2015)
Tumblr media
I liked this show, but the premise is legitimately bonkers. It's a modern day take on sleeping beauty—only there's no handsome prince—just an overworked (but obviously handsome) doctor, a bunch of gangsters, and some crazy corporate infighting. Let me explain... no there is too much. Let me sum up...
The first 10 episodes were enthralling. The lead character Kim Tae Hyun (aka Yong-pal and played by Joo Won), was originally framed as a cynical anti-hero who is in way over his head and has to do a ton of unethical stuff. But then he finds himself trapped being an unofficial guard for Han Yeo-jin (aka Sleeping Beauty and played by Kim Tae-hee), and at some point he decides he doesn't want to be one of the baddies and helps her escape.
This takes about 9-10 episodes to work through and has some great action and tense surgery moments... because this is an action / medical drama, and you meet alot of interesting characters.
Then just past the mid-point of the season, Sleeping Beauty is finally free and she starts taking back the Kingdom and taking revenge on everyone who had anything to do with locking her in the castle. This Takes 3-4 episodes and is about where the show starts to drag a bit.
Then we have 2 episodes of board room corporate warfare that doesn't make much sense and the OTP hits a rough patch and it starts to really drag.
Then the ending arc is bonkers (**spoilers** there's poisoning, cancer, miracle surgery, people who disappeared 5 episodes ago returning to Save The Day(TM), lots of pretty people crying, and kids in a clinic). I wanted to see how it ended, so I kept going until the end, but it was slightly disappointing.
Why the Show Worked Anyway
Casting! This cast is so pretty, and so much fun to watch, and the characters are fascinating enough that you just don't care how crazy the plot is.
Kim Mi-kyung is still a standout actor. And she's young enough that she doesn't have to be anyone's mom (all the moms are dead in this show, because of course they are). She's the Head Nurse at the hospital instead!
Joo Won gets to play a doctor who is kind of an action hero at the start but then loses his super powers about the time he (**spoilers** gets shot). I liked him, but the other characters are so colorful that he almost seems tame by comparison. The show needs someone to ground it, and most of the time that's Joo Won.
Kim Tae-hee is very good as well. She spends 10 episodes being sick and crying alot (while managing to look cute instead of terrible). Then she gets an arc where she's basically a corporate mob boss and goes on a murder-for-hire spree, and I think that's probably where she's most interesting. I think she does alot with the part she's written, but her character isn't very nuanced.
Chae Jung-an is another standout. I think the character was written very inconsistently (and not just because she pretended to be a ditz some of the time), but she was so much fun to watch that I kind of just went with it. Could have done without some of the cringy scenes in yoga pants at the hospital, but even that was still funny sometimes.
Stephanie Lee (or Lee Jeong-ah) had maybe the coolest role that wasn't a lead. Morally grey but (due to careful writing) not really evil, she's basically the fixer for the VIP floor of the hospital. And it was nice to see a Korean-American in a role.
Honorable Mention to Jo Hyun-jae as the evil step-brother. His character tended to bad-guy monologue. His schemes pretty much always blew up in his face. However, he somehow made this two-dimensional baddy feel like a real person. Or at least, enough of a real person that you felt sorry for him a few times.
TL; DR:
I got alot of enjoyment out of episodes 1-10 or so. I didn't hate the rest of them, but it felt like the writers didn't know what to do, and so they just started putting stuff out there almost randomly. And even the stuff they setup earlier in the season was so bonkers that it felt random. Still a good show that is fun to watch (most of the time).

Independent Excursion - Media Reflection - Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium and Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen is a very popular relatively newly created Manga series, written and created by Gege Akutami. This series has been featured as a piece of the Shonen Jump weekly Shonen magazine, joining the likes of industry titans such as One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto. This series started in March of 2018, and has since ammassed a staggering 265 chapters, 47 anime episodes, and 1 movie.
After my roommate binge watched the entire first season of Jujutsu Kaisen on his own, he begged me to watch it with him for weeks until I finally caved and decided to check it out. After the first few episodes I was already hooked on it and was wanting to finish the entire series as fast as I could. We then binged the show for an entire day straight and I was caught up to the newest episode by no time. Jujutsu Kaisen also gave me an interesting perspective on Japan as a whole, as much of the show takes place mainly in Kawasaki City, in the Kanagawa prefecture of Japan. In chapter 70 of the manga, and season 2 episode 3 of the anime, we see the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan depicted with some of the characters from the show. One of their friends ends up getting kidnapped, and the crew travels to Osaka to rescue them, which explains why they were in this area to begin with. This inspired me to come and visit the actual location as seen in the anime/manga, as I am a big fan of marine life in general and was captivated by this portrayal of the aquarium.
After seeing the show and loving it, as well as its portrayal of Japan overall, I found that it is closely accurate to how I have seen things firsthand during my time in Japan. It makes a lot of sense to conclude that Gege Akutami put a lot of his own experiences into the making of this series, as much of it is realistic.
After seeing how things operate in a University in Tokyo, I can imagine that a High School would be decently similar. So this gives me a pretty decent understanding of how realistic the high school setting and characters of the series are to reality. I can say that many of the depictions are fairly accurate, from the desks, to the classrooms, and even the outfits all seem to fit how Japanese High schools would actually be.
While at the aquarium, Luke and I made it a mission to find a spot closely resembling the actual Osaka Aquarium manga panel, with the shot of the whale sharks in the background. For some context, during this scene, one of the characters, Riko Amanai, is attempting to have a good send off on her last day before being absorbed - more than likely ending her life, for the good of Japan as a whole. One of the places that she goes to is the Osaka Aquarium, and is so impressed by the beauty of the whale sharks and other animals, that she begins to connect with the sheer size of the whale sharks and feels that the world is too big and has too much to offer to be willing to end her life prematurely. I have attached the manga panel depicting this below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting to actually walk through this aquarium and see the whale sharks for all of their gargantuan beauty was pretty life changing, and I can see why Amanai would have changed her mind after being so enthralled in the wonders of these marine behemoths. Being in Japan as a whole has honestly given me a new perspective on the world and life in general. Getting to experience such a different culture so far away from home really shows you how much there is out there in the world that I have yet to explore. I have definitely seen my fair share of new places, but I have never gone somewhere as far away or different as Japan, and it has given me a bit more hope that there is reasons to keep chugging along in this world, as there is so much out there to see and so little time to see it all. There also honestly were not too many slippages between the series and reality, another example is how accurate Shibuya was to real life from the anime portrayal. They did an amazing job of portraying the city and I was pleasantly surprised to see that It was just as grandiose in real life as I had seen in the anime.

Liner Notes (March 24th, 2024)
This week, we try to catch up on two weeks of music and add a whole bunch of first impressions (Sum 41, The Early November, Strung Out, and more). The supporter Q&A post can be found here. If you’d like this newsletter delivered to your inbox each week (it’s free and available to everyone), you can sign up here. A Few Things * It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote a newsletter. Last Monday was my, audible sigh, forty-first birthday. So, the past few weekends have been tied up with quite a bit of family time on top of the usual errands, and I just ran out of hours to sit down and write. I don’t know how to put that idea of being 41 into words. Last year had me feeling things, and this year was a little more of the same. It went by faster. My hair is getting a little grayer. But I still have my family and health and consider myself extremely lucky. Most of my gifts were records or band hoodies (shocking), but Hannah got me some of the New Found Glory Coffee, and I was shockingly impressed with it. A lot of “band coffee” I’ve tried in the past has been over-roasted or very clearly not fresh. This was neither and had an excellent flavor to it. Would recommend. My mom gave me a few of these vinyl record containers, and they’re fantastic. Perfect for stacking, and I’m using them to store some of my overstocks that won’t fit on the shelves (I know, I know). I also had a pretty incredible steak dinner and added some albums to my collection, which I’ve wanted for a long time. The funny thing is, after just a couple of years of putting band merch on my wishlists and now multiple holidays and birthdays passing, my wardrobe has more band-related clothes in it than I ever did back in the AbsolutePunk heyday. And I’m not complaining; I’ve embraced becoming that guy. * I was enthralled with this article on the “two-handed bowler,” and I’ve never followed that sport at all. Fascinating stuff. And this podcast episode with Howard Benson talking about producing Hellow, Rockview and it being one of the first albums ever recorded using ProTools was great. In Case You Missed It * Lauren Mayberry – “Change Shapes” * Cyrus Bolooki on New Podcast * Interview: Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World * Review: Yellowcard / Hammock – A Hopeful Sign * Ben Folds Announces New Tour * New Interview With Green Day * Review: Blink-182 – One More Time… * Sharp Eyes – “Past Your Best” (Video Premiere) * Interview: Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy * Albums in Stores – Mar 22nd, 2024 Music Thoughts * Interesting articles jumped to the top of the popularity list last week. What spiked those in particular? I’ll see if I see anything interesting in the referral stats. * OK, let’s start with music from two weeks ago. Kacey Musgraves released Deeper Well, and I think it’s a welcome return. I tried, I did, but I could not get into her previous album at all. This has a very lovely, breezy feel to it. Some of the lyrics don’t work for me (the gravity bong line pulls me out every time), but the whole album is like a warm spring evening. Comforting. Justin Timberlake’s new album is also better than his previous one, but not by much. It’s too long. Bloated. In massive need of restraint and editing. There are individual songs on it that I like, but as an album, I find it a bit of a slog to get through. * This week we have The Gaslight Anthem dropping History Books (Short Stories) and my word is it good. Produced by Butch Walker? A cover of “Ocean Eyes”? A reworked version of “Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts”? Like, come on. An embarrassment of riches here. The full thing is a win, top to bottom, and add me to the chorus of people hoping Butch will produce a full-length from these guys at some point. Ruston Kelly’s collection of b-sides, Weakness, etc., is just as impressive. I’ve been playing both of these back-to-back all weekend. * And now for a string of first impressions: Sasha Alex Sloan’s upcoming album, Me Again, reminds me a lot of Kacey’s new album. It has that… https://chorus.fm/features/articles/liner-notes-march-24th-2024/

i am not a person with an active tumblr im barely a person with any active social media and to be funny i would say barely a person but its incorrect i am a person a person with a need to rant abt a tv show i kind of just jumped into bc it looked cool and my brain finally went okay you watch this now so im going to do that i apologize to my one friend who may get a notification of me posting (<3 one of my favs ever)
its a story imagine me in my history class maybe a month ago listening to conversations with involving a teacher who is dear to my heart shes go great i love her first day i told her my name and she showed me a kaz breker pin she had (not where my name came from its far more embarrassing but i absolutely loved it and knew the vibes were good even tho i was having a bad day) so i am listening and the show “interview with a vampire” -2022- is mentioned. teacher and another student chat seems nice has a cool name i think i wrote it down somewhere. jump to idk a few weeks ago i see something vampiric and think of that bc word association then today i see a spoiler tiktok (kinda) for an episode i have not even reached and i am so absolutely enthralled i look up the show and start trying to log into accounts as soon as i am done scrolling. i watch the trailer - i love it - i get confused bc there is an older movie with almost the same name idk if its abt the same thing
i am officially watching the show its great it combines aspects of many of my favorite things and makes me feel how my favorite books made me feel almost before the first episode is over (books notably being fairest, and sharp objects) truthfully idk why the show made me feel that way but it did and i like it. i like this show so much i forgot to mention the utter shock of the first sexual scene in the show and how early it was juxtaposed with remembering how i heard of the show but honestly that is one of the better things to come out of my public school journey.
back to the show its so interesting i feel the need to inhale it but i have to take breaks bc it is too much and, i have bad wifi so it buffers alot. so ive been doing that and trying to keep my grubby paws away from typing things up and looking up spoilers bc i am a person who with loudly say “i love spoilers” because i honestly do but i know in my heart of hearts i shouldn’t for this show because sometimes spoilers just ruin the fun of something even if wanted and this is a show i find insanely fun to consume.
and i get to the 3rd episode and im almost blindsided by the fuckery of the political side characters because of my joy in watching this show and the other drama but when the fuckery catches up to me i am enraged and then filled with thoughts of admiration for this show and the way it did that
all this to say
A MOTHERFUCKER WHO GOT SHIT ON HIS PENIS FIRST EPISODE IS ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY BC WHAT HES WHITE HE THINKS HES SMART - god it takes everything in me not to automatically hate the actor (which i hope he is a good person and a great actor) and wish him karma
ty for your time :)

haunted by the look in my eyes that would’ve loved you for a lifetime
leave it all behind
& there is happiness
Loneliness had always been something that plagued him. That and a plethora of other negative emotions.
There wasn’t a day that went by where Peter Maximoff wasn’t made to feel like a loser. Admittedly, he’d never held himself to a high standard, he grew up thinking that he’d never fit in anywhere and eventually that thought mutated into a lifestyle as he began isolating himself from the world around him, either far too good or heartbreakingly not enough to be a part of that crowd.
He liked spending time with himself. Nobody else knew him the way he knew him, and still, he found nothing but an overwhelming hollow space where his deepest most important hopes, aspirations, dreams and self discoveries should have resided.
Peter had always put this feeling of exile down to the fact that he was a mutant, it was the most likely explanation, right?
It was only when he’d decided to join the X-Men that he finally came to the conclusion that maybe the rest of the world wasn’t the problem, nor was his mutation the problem, but that he himself was the problem. For even in a school full of people exactly like him he was still the same loser that he was in his mother’s basement.
And he was under no illusions that that was exactly what his teammates saw in him; nothing. No potential. Just a space holder to bring the numbers up.
Super speed was incredible. That’s how Peter acknowledged jobs well done, he praised his speed but never himself. He just saved Charles and Erik from a room full of armed guards? No that wasn’t him, that was simply his speed. He saved an entire mansion full of people from a potentially fatal explosion? Nothing special, Kurt probably could’ve done the same.
Forget all of the good deeds and saved lives because the bottom line of it all, to him at least, was that all he was good for was cheeky one liners and hopeless kleptomania.
His life took a turn for the worse when he found himself being mind controlled in an alternate universe. And even then, he was playing the part of someone that wasn’t him, the thought humbled him, reconnected him to his roots and reintroduced him to his life long philosophy that he’d never be anything more than a social pariah. Not even an alternate reality could accept him for who he was. There wasn’t a warm welcome and despite not knowing what was going on, the definition of “imposter” or the weirder, “recast”, still shot to kill.
He settled on the notion that he was an inter dimensional waste of space. At least in WestView he could be blissfully ignorant, let the real him be drowned mercilessly in favour of being an integral part of someone’s life- to feel important, even if it wasn’t real.
When WestView fell apart he was completely lost. In every sense of the word. In a new world with no way home and as it turned out, nobody was looking for him. Although he didn’t expect anyone to care, it still stung that nobody did. He always hoped that one day Erik would step up as a father figure for him, this; getting kidnapped and smuggled into a different dimension, seemed like the perfect moment for that epic father son moment, but it wouldn’t surprise Peter if his father has yet to notice his disappearance.
But then, seemingly out of nowhere, he came into contact with a beacon of hope. A guiding star that might possibly lead him to an existence consisting of something other than misery and self loathing.
It offered him a choice; return to being the self proclaimed loser he was known as or start fresh as someone new and mysterious, with first impressions yet to be made and conclusions about him yet to be drawn. Peter had known himself to be rash in the past, when it came to making decisions he had the tendency to act impulsively, never putting too much thought into how his decisions would affect his life in the long term. The choice before him now is no different, he knew exactly what he wanted going forward, however selfish the choice may have been, the second he realised it was an option his heart was set on it.
That previously mentioned beacon of hope arrived to him in the form of a girl, in the form of you. An ex-avenger and close friend of Wanda’s, you were hired by S.W.O.R.D to help them clean up the more ‘sensitive’ fallout that the fall of WestView brought about. Obviously, they were sticking you- the only other avenger with magik- on babysitting and rehabilitation rather than letting you go after your best friend who had gone completely off the rails. Having said that though, you didn’t want anyone else handling him.
You hadn’t watched WandaVision, nor were you even aware that any of it was going on until it had reached a boiling point and you got a call from Monica Rambeau, she’d begged you to come and wait on the edge of town while she went in and act as her eyes on the outside along with Jimmy Woo.
That’s where you stayed until the hex broke down.
As soon as the barrier came down the base you manned was overrun by an armada of terribly confused and distressed citizens, Monica and Wanda were not among them but in their places stumbled in Darcy and the man playing the role of Pietro.
Jimmy appointed himself to Darcy, who in all honesty seemed relatively unscathed by the situation while you made a beeline for the dirty blonde charading as your former, dead teammate.
Peter was, to put it simply, completely enthralled by you as soon as you’d strolled over to him and in the moment he’d put his almost magnetic attraction to you down to the fact that you were the first friendly face he’d seen upon breaking free of Agatha’s possession.
But one thing in particular struck him; you’d asked him his name. You hadn’t immediately assumed him to be some knock off Pietro, as everyone else had. You acknowledged that he had his own personal identity and despite how often he caught himself hating the person he was, he found that when it was torn away from him that he wanted it back. The simple question you posed gave him the opportunity to regain his identity.
“Peter. My name is Peter.” He answered you, almost unsure of himself and you found your interest in the man piqued even further.
He remembered with perfect clarity the way you’d offered him a grin, tilted your hand, extended your hand and said, “Well it’s nice to meet you, Peter. Come on, I’ll be your babysitter for the next while.” There was something about the way you’d laughed after saying the words and the slight, yet unmistakable, glint of mischief in your eyes that had him captivated from the get go.
With you came a whirlwind of new emotions. After only a few weeks of knowing you, Peter noticed he wasn’t as lonely as he had been back home. He didn’t hate himself half as much either, he wasn’t entirely free of self deprovative tendencies and maybe he never would be, but undoubtedly, he likes himself more in this world than he ever had in his last. He thanked you and your determination to make him “a functioning member of society” for that.
It didn’t feel belittling, the way you helped him. You hadn’t dragged him to your favourite mall every weekend just to taunt him about how he couldn’t stop himself from stealing something. Even the very first time, when he’d sped away from you and returned within a second adoring a pair of freshly stolen sunglasses. Your only reaction had been to laugh and casually place your hands on both sides of his face.
“At least remember to take the tag off next time, speedy.” You’d muttered, subtly pulling the tacky stickers off the arms of his shades. No, you weren’t dragging him sight seeing or forcing him to help you go clothes shopping because you thought he was a loser who needed reforming you were doing it because you were a true friend who wanted him to succeed.
The pair of you seemed like two peas in a pod. Which to be fair, you were. Peter Maximoff intrigued you in every sense of the word. He was new, quite literally other worldly, he was kind, he was funny, he was perfectly mischievous and completely wonderful.
What caught your eye the most was the way he held himself, as if he wasn’t entirely comfortable in his own skin. It became apparent to you that he lacked confidence with the phrases he usually tacked onto the ends of his sentences. When you’d invite him to hang out in the beginning his response would always be something along the lines of, “Sure. If you want me to.” But the excitable puppy dog eyes told you that he was dying for someone to want him to tag along some place.
There was a certain understanding between you. You were both more than accustomed with the harrowing feeling of being alone and even though you’d never exactly voiced those thoughts with each other, you couldn’t deny that his was a spirit kindred to your own and he felt it too.
Since the Avengers has disbanded, one of your best friends, Natasha, was dead and your other best friend, Wanda, was gone completely off the rails and the people chasing her wouldn’t let you anywhere near her or even attempt to help pull her out of her darkness. You were being kept as a wildcard in case they needed her taken down. Peter was no stranger to the feeling of being cast aside and so he quickly responded to your frustrations, and in doing so, forced himself out of his comfort zone to be there for you. To his complete shock though, you’d been so appreciative of his efforts.
You never failed to thank him for the little things he did for you, always complimenting his mutation when he’d use it and giving him the recognition he never received at home. The friendship he formed with you was so… two sided, again, something he wasn’t accustomed to before. It didn’t involve him giving everything he had to offer and receiving nothing in return, you matched his energy meticulously and never left him hanging.
In a series of firsts, he didn’t wonder whether or not you genuinely liked him, never feeling the need or want to question it as you’d left him with no reason to doubt.
As he walked around the mall with you now, his mind brought his attention back to the question you’d asked him rather casually a few nights ago. You were both lounging on your couch, watching some ridiculous reality show (a favourite of yours and Peter’s) when you’d turned your head to look at him, a thoughtful look on your face. “Do you think when S.W.O.R.D figures the technology out to crack into other realities, you’ll go back to yours?”
The question had taken him aback for a second, in all honesty, he hadn’t thought about going home, not when he was with you at least and considering he’d become your roommate about three weeks after he got out of WestView, the thought of returning to his old life had barely crossed his mind.
Being an ex-Avenger you were fairly well off, you lived alone in a two bedroom apartment in New York that you’d bought to be closer to Stark tower. Peter had nowhere to go and aside from having a spare room to offer you’d also been sort of lost in the current of the busy city with everyone you once loved in the area either dead, on the run or busy elsewhere.
While the question hadn’t crossed Peter’s mind, it had crossed yours on several occasions. He’d been staying with you for six months and the moment you realised that he was becoming one of the most important people in your life, the thought of him leaving you too weighed on your mind but at the end of the day you wanted him to feel happy. He deserved to feel happy and if going back to his reality brought him that happiness then you’d support him.
“Dunno,” he’d replied, turning to face you, chucking a handful of popcorn at you when you looked incredulous at his response, “To be honest I haven’t really thought about it, m’way too busy babysitting you anyway.” He joked, effortlessly dodging the few pieces of popcorn you attempted to throw at him.
For the last few nights, the question haunted him, but it wasn’t just the question that was bothering him. You were at the forefront of his mind as he replayed the past six months of his life which also happened to be the best six months of his life. WestView put him through hell but coming out the other side of it and meeting you felt like heaven.
He weighed up the pros and cons of returning to his native timeline. The cons: he’d have to leave you behind, he’d go back to being the loser who nobody took seriously, his talents would be downplayed and disregarded and he’d inevitably end up revisiting his lifestyle of solitude. Then there was the pros: he’d get to reunite with his pac man machine. He couldn’t manage to think up anything else.
If he stayed he’d have everything he ever wanted and needed. You’d be there and he knew you always would be, besides he couldn’t leave you knowing that you needed him. If he left who would wake you up when you had night terrors about the catastrophe that your reality was still recovering from? There would be nobody there to comfort you when you woke up from the nightmares, reliving the deaths of Natasha, Tony or Vision and the experience of being snapped out of existence? If he wasn’t there to make you laugh when you were about to cry then who would be? In his heart of hearts he knew you had a huge support system at your disposal, he’d met most of them. Even though he was well aware that Sam visited you as often as he could, that Bucky wrote you letters on a monthly basis and sometimes tagged along with Sam on his visits, that Stephen Strange appeared in your apartment whenever the urge struck him, that the literal god of thunder invited you out for beer whenever he was visiting Earth, that the little spider-kid, also named Peter, swung by your apartment at least once a week to tell you all about school and his good deeds. Despite knowing all of this and knowing all of these people loved you dearly, Peter wanted to be your main source of support, he didn’t want to be someone who came and went, who’d love you then leave you. He wanted to be with you through anything and everything and the feeling that you’d love him for a lifetime had him satisfied with the decision he was about to make.
If leaving his old life meant he could stay here, with you, and experience happiness for more than a fleeting moment then he’d simply; leave it all behind.
“I’ve been thinking about what you asked me the other night.” He spoke through a mouthful of curly fries. You were sitting in the food court of the mall when he decided to let you in on his desire to stay with you indefinitely.
You raised your eyebrow, “You? Putting thought into an answer? Peter, I think I’m starting to become a bad influence on you.” You told him teasingly, taking a long sip of your drink as he rolled his eyes humorously.
“You’re a terrible influence which is exactly why I’ve decided to stay here and put you on the straight and narrow.” The glee you felt at his statement was undeniable, your eyes lit up and your lips curled upwards.
“You’re staying? Really staying?” Your smile was contagious, Peter’s face now painted with a wide grin as he nodded his head.
In a moment of weakness he frantically added, “Y’know only if you want me to though. If you don’t that’s completely cool.” He rushed through the words, feeling more embarrassed when the fond look on your face never faded.
“Of course I want you to stay. You mean a lot to me.” You reassured him, a gentle smile on your lips as you reached across the metal table, intertwining your fingers with his.
Peter squeezed your hand gratefully, holding it in his grasp securely and allowing his smile to return to his face, “I know. You mean a lot to me too.” It was somewhat of an understatement, he was starting to understand that you didn’t just mean a lot, but that you meant everything.
His resolution lifted a huge weight off your shoulders that you wouldn’t be losing yet another best friend. You were glad he’d be with you when everything blew over with Wanda, the two of them definitely had the potential to develop a beautiful sibling relationship and they both deserved that. Of course, Peter would never replace Pietro and having known them both it was obvious just how different the two men were, the only thing they had in common being their powers and last name. Still, he and Wanda would still be able to work on it. He didn’t hate her after WestView and you knew Wanda well enough to know that she was kind hearted and she’d be more than willing to give him a chance. When she eventually comes back to her senses, that it.
As the months went on, life with you and Peter seemed to only get better. You never stopped laughing, your nightmares died down and Peter had taken on a whole new lease of life. Yourself and Peter were the perfect example of meeting the right person at the right time, you balanced each other out and accentuated the other’s good qualities.
Peter could now say with complete confidence that he was happy and what’s more is that he was finally sure that he was making someone happy.
Up until nearly eleven months of living together your relationship had been purely platonic, save for the constant flirting but flirtation pretty much ran in yours and Peter’s blood. Peter wasn’t going to lie to himself, he’d fallen for you the second you’d peeled the security tags off his stolen sunglasses.
You, on the other hand, had been fighting with yourself because yes, you love Peter but you couldn’t have told him when there was the possibility he’d eventually leave and now so much time has passed and you’ve got such a good thing going you didn’t have it in you to ruin it.
However, all of that changed when your original Maximoff best friend came knocking on your door.
Wanda was on the run. She’d caused an amazing amount of chaos but Stephen Strange and S.W.O.R.D were hot on her trail and now she needed a place to lay low with the twins. She figured there was no place more reliable to go than to the always open arms of her best friend, who conveniently had a divinity for earth magik and could muster up a protective barrier without raising suspicions. And that’s exactly where she found herself; outside your door.
You’d been chasing Peter around the apartment when you heard the knock on the door. Peter was on the opposite end of the kitchen to you, using the bar as a shield from you. “You better get that.”
“Oh you’d like that wouldn’t you?” You glared as you spoke, it was his own fault really. What sort of idiot jumpscares a witch while she’s mid-meditation? He’d frightened you so badly you accidentally blasted a ball of your signature green energy and ruined your favourite couch throw pillow. When you were ready to pounce on the scared speedster the knocks sounded again, more frantic this time.
With one last glare towards Peter you stomped towards the door. Your anger melted away completely when you saw her. Her hood was up and she looked completely exhausted, two small hooded little boys by her side.
“Wanda…” You breathed out, relief flooding your system at the sight of her alive. She didn’t get a chance to speak before your arms were pulling her against you tightly, hugging her as if your life depended on it. Wanda returned in your embrace, allowing herself to relax for the first time in nearly a year, she sniffled against your shoulder, holding back tears as she realised how much she’d truly missed you.
Billy and Tommy watched in confusion as their mother cried into your shoulder. They didn’t know who you were, all their mother had told them was that they were going somewhere safe.
It was the yell of one of the boys that caused you and Wanda to separate, “Uncle P!” With that you felt a familiar rush of air across your leg but instead of Peter appearing one of the kids was gone.
You shared a perplexed look with Wanda, although your confusion was for different reasons.
“Hey hell raisers!” Peter responded, catching the mini speedster who all but threw himself at him barely regaining his balance before the other child had flung himself into the hug.
“Wanda? Those two… are they...?” You started, at a loss for words Wanda cut you off quietly, her tone as disbelieving as yours.
“My children? Yes. Is that…?” You nodded your head numbly, anticipating the end of her question.
“Your fake brother? Yeah.” Quickly, you realised you and a wanted woman catching up with the door wide open wasn’t ideal and you ushered Wanda inside, shutting the door when she walked in.
“Hey.” Peter greeted her simply, as if he hadn’t been used as a meat puppet in her altered reality. It wasn’t in his nature to hold any grudges.
“Hi?” Wanda replied, her voice still twinged with confusion.
“Peter, will you keep an eye on the kids for a bit? Wanda and I have some catching up to do.” You asked him with a nervous laugh, just thankful that Wanda was too tired to argue with your suggestion.
Peter ruffled the boys’ hair and gave you a grin, “Only if you stop trying to kill me.”
You rolled your eyes as you began to lead Wanda into your bedroom, “You’re on probation, jerk.” You called over your shoulder.
Once you were securely in your bedroom, the door locked and sitting comfortably you fixed Wanda with an amused look, “I’d ask you what’s new but I’m not sure I even wanna know.”
Wanda gave you a sad smile while she shook her head, “No, you probably don’t. I will tell you tomorrow, I don’t want to get into it tonight. I’m so tired.” She admitted, her voice overcome with sadness.
“I’ll pump up the air mattress and you and the boys can sleep in here for however long you need. I’d offer you the spare room but that’s where Peter’s been staying and I don’t think empty food containers are the kind of decor you’d be into.” Wanda nodded, squeezing your hand gratefully.
“So his name is Peter?” She asked, curious about the man Agatha had used to trick her in WestView.
You nodded in confirmation, “Yeah. Peter Maximoff, actually.”
Wanda’s brows came to a furrow at that, “Maximoff? So he’s a relation?”
“Yes and no. Peter is from a different reality but he’s still a Maximoff and he’s got super speed. So, and this is just my theory, while you’re not directly related he could still be your brother- if you wanted him to.” You explained, as gently as you could, not trying to push her too far but to nudge the idea in her direction.
Wanda, to your surprise, didn't seem to hate the suggestion, “What is he like?”
A genuine smile made it onto your face then, as you shot into your description of your roommate, “He’s caring, funny, a little bit of a kleptomaniac but he’s working on it. He’s understanding and moronically selfless, moronic in the sense that he doesn’t even realise he’s being selfless. Huge pain in the ass too.” Wanda had a soft smile on her face by the time you’d finished.
“You like him.” Was all she said and you let out a laugh in disbelief, standing up and opening the door.
“Go grab a shower. I’ll have Peter blow up the air mattress while I go introduce myself to my god sons.”
“I thought you’d at least wait until I actually asked you.” Wanda laughed as you walked out of the room.
Things moved fairly quickly after that. As promised you introduced yourself to Billy and Tommy as their god mother, which they seemed more than thrilled about and you assumed that excitement had to do with whatever description of you Peter had given them. Wanda and the twins were all cleaned and fed and had all but collapsed into bed, foregoing the air mattress and huddling together in your double bed instead.
“Where are you sleeping, mother Teresa?” Peter teased as he noticed your eyes drooping where you stood.
“On the couch probably. Or the air mattress.” You mumbled, cutting yourself off with a yawn.
Peter, unimpressed with your options, scoffed, “No way. Come on, you can bunk with me.”
Much like Wanda, you were too tired to argue and you let Peter pull you to his, surprisingly clean, room by the hand.
You both crawled into the bed, lying close together despite the amount of empty space on the mattress.
“How are you feeling about all of this?” Your soft voice broke through the silence and Peter turned his head to look at you.
“About Wanda?” You nodded your head, watching him intently as he rolled onto his side, facing you more comfortably.
Peter shrugged lightly, “I’m feeling ok. Just glad the twins still see me as their cool uncle.” You let out a small laugh at his response.
“Wanda was asking about you. Seemed interested in getting to know the real you.” You informed him, your heartwarming as you watched a hopeful look fall across his face.
A lull settled over the room once again and Peter caught himself staring at you. His eyes drifted over every visible part of you, reminding him of most of the points on his pros list for staying in your universe; your eyes, your lashes, your nose, your lips, you.
“What’re you thinking about?” The sound of your tired voice pulled him out of his thoughts and ultimately pushed him to bite the bullet and tell you how he’s feeling. With you curled up beside him, in his bed, fighting sleep just to stay in his company for as long as you could; he knew there would be no better time.
“Just about how happy I am to be here with you.” He answered you honestly, the butterflies in both of your stomachs fluttering in sync at his words.
You trailed a hand under the duvet and onto the bedsheets between your bodies, feeling around until you found his hand and gently intertwined your fingers. “I’m happy you decided to stay.”
“What you’ve all gone through in this timeline sucks- don’t get me wrong-“ Peter started sincerely, scooting closer to you and dropping his head back down on the edge of your pillow, leaving the pair of you practically nose to nose as he went on.
“And I hate that Wanda had to go through so much… but I’m really glad that it led me to you.” Peter swore in that moment, right after the confession left his mouth, that he could die right now and be completely content knowing that you now knew how he felt.
His heart stopped, and he thought that maybe he was about to die, when you gave him the softest, sweetest smile he’d ever been on the receiving end of and whispered, “I feel the same.”
Time moved in slow motion as he felt you moving your intertwined hands towards your lips, your lips pressed gently against the back of Peter’s hand before you brought them to rest against your chest.
It was a fact to say that Peter Maximoff had never felt intimacy quite like this before. But, experiencing it now, with you, led him to wonder how he’d ever survived without it. He wasn’t sure whether it was natural to crave more, especially when the affection you were showing him was so gentle, but he didn’t care as he let the impulsive side of him take over.
Not sparing another word, Peter closed the small distance between your lips and his. His free hand cupped your jaw while yours wasted no time in getting tangled in his silver hair.
His lips moved softly and surprisingly slowly over yours and he savoured the feeling of your hand holding his while your other got lost in his hair, your body pressed up against him, the way your jaw moved against his palm as you reciprocated the movement of his lips and the taste of your lips, promising himself he’d never let the memory slip from his mind for as long as he lived.
With complete clarity, Peter could say he had felt true, genuine happiness and he had no doubt in his mind that there was absolutely nothing Charles, Hank, Scott or anyone else from his original timeline could say to make him leave this happiness behind. Because in the process of forgetting his old life, he couldn’t deny that he has undoubtedly found himself in the position of a man who had so much more to live for.

Teaching Izana, Sanzu and Kazutora how to waltz
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
characters: izana kurokawa + sanzu haruchiyo + kazutora hanemiya
genre: fluff
warnings: none
Tumblr media
Izana
izana had started to realise that you were watching quite a few dancing shows as of late, switching on the tv to watch a new episode even if he was around at your place
you seemed to be enthralled by the flowing dresses that circled the large, ballroom-like stages, and he couldn't help but find your interest quite adorable
of course, he enjoys music; but he's never really considered dancing to it, no matter the genre. he didn't have much time to do so, anyway, so he was more than content to just listen to the tunes instead
this all kind of got thrown out the window, however, when he was greeted by a very giddy version of his partner one afternoon he had decided to come over for a bit
you were rather ecstatic when he appeared at the doorway, turning away from the television screen quickly as soon as you heard him enter
of course, it was one of your beloved dancing shows. he wasn't surprised by that, but rather at the fact that you quickly made him drop whatever he was holding and drag him towards you
with an eager smile on your face, you look up at him as he was placed just in front of you
you clasped his hands with your own, just before the music started on the screen just beside you
"just follow my lead, okay?"
needless to say, his expression was quite taken aback when you stretched out your arm to the side and placed the other on his hip, before stepping forwards
catching him off guard, he took a second to react and place his own hand on you. this was what they did, right?
he'd only catch a few glimpses at the show when you were watching it, but he managed to pick up a few points here and there
he'd struggle at first, but if you continued to drag him to the music, he will eventually get the hang of it
he knew he wasn't exactly a professional at this, but he could see how much joy it was bringing you to just pretend like the two of you were performing before the vast crowds, in stunning outfits, to the calm music
and that was more than enough for him to continue on with the sort of 'dance' the two of you were in
when you finished at called it a day, he would suggest that you take dance classes if you liked to do this so much
unfortunately, he didn't have enough time to be able to accompany you, but that didn't mean you couldn't pursue your little dream
Tumblr media
Sanzu
"what the hell are you doing?"
frozen in place, you had been caught on the spot when sanzu found you dancing to some fancy music in your room
your boyfriend had told you that he would drop by at some point during late afternoon. however, you hadn't expected him to show up so soon and without even knocking on your front door
he isn't someone who always follows decent etiquette, to say the least
as he stood at the doorway of your bedroom, you scurried over to your computer to switch off the music, embarrassed at being caught dancing by yourself
especially since your arms had been up as though you had a partner following along with you to the slow melody
ironic, since the real one was right before you now
"um...actually, what are you doing here? you didn't even tell me you were on your way, sanzu!"
an amused laugh came from the one that was now making his way into your room, settling down on to your bed as though he owned the place
truthfully, he was more than just familiar with that bed by now, so it wasn't much of a surprise
"figured it would be funnier to sneak up on you. what I didn't expect, though, was to find you waltzing around like a princess"
shooting him a stubborn glare as you were about to close the window which had been playing the music just seconds ago
you were stopped, however, as the pink-haired individual spoke up once more
"hold it! I never said you were bad at it...it looked kinda fun, actually. you should teach me how to do all of that, you know"
not fully believing his words, you irked an eyebrow at him. as a test to see if he'd actually go along with it, you extended your arm out to him
surprisingly, he stood up and took it, bringing himself closer to you
when you'd resume the music, you'd actually find that sanzu was quite skilled when it came to moving at the right time with you
of course, he stepped on your foot a few times here and there, but in general, it seemed that he wasn't too bad at it either
he enjoyed watching you so close to him, a sweet smile to your expression as you swayed with him as though the two of you were in an actual ballroom
it goes without saying that you'd question his skills once you were done; he'd simply brush it off as pure talent, but you were sure there was something more to just that...
Tumblr media
Kazutora
it would be a movie afternoon for the two of you when you came across one of your favourite studio ghibli movies, howl's moving castle
surprisingly, kazutora had never seen it before; as a result, you took not a single second more to select the film and make sure he'd pay attention the whole way through
how has someone not seen one of the most beautiful movies known to man? you hadn't the slightest clue, but you were to make sure that you had a boyfriend who knew about the wonders of said film
whenever the main soundtrack of the movie played, kazutora would notice how you'd start to sway to the music. admittedly, the story was looking to be quite interesting, but he couldn't help but realise that what you most enjoyed was the waltzing melody
as the ending scene concluded the almost two hours of screen time, you looked over beside you to try and catch the final reaction of the one sat beside you, eager to know what he thought of it
as 'promise of the world' played out in the background, you couldn't stop yourself from swaying just a little, as you had done before
"so...?"
turning to you with a smile, kazutora gave you an impressed nod. heart swelling with happiness, you took ahold of his hand, just before standing up and bringing him with you
you had always wanted to do this. after every single rewatch of the movie, you would envision dancing to the music with someone. it would be like a perfect reenactment of what you felt whenever you'd listen to the melodies throughout the movie
almost instinctively, you managed to snake your hands around him, bringing one of the out beside the two of you as you grasped onto his hand
although he hadn't actually expected you to get up and dance right away, his smile didn't falter. he found it so amusing to see you try your best and lead him to the music; of course, he gave it his all too, but he was no expert
moving to the calming music, it was almost cinematic - in your eyes, at least
sure, you accidentally stepped on his foot a few times, but he'd brush it off as nothing each time
besides, he really didn't feel much pain as he watched your gleeful expression, looking up at him with what could only be described as a loving gaze
he wished he would have all the time in the world to always spend little moments like this with you

Pedro Pascal and Lena Headey
Head to head interview
Hunger Magazine, Issue 6. Released December 28, 2014. Photoshoot October 15, 2013.
Tumblr media
Thirteen million. That's the number of people, on average, who tuned into each episode of the third season of Game of Thrones. Among them was Chilean actor Pedro Pascal, who was as enthralled by the sex and slaughter as the rest of us. But little did he know that within a few months he'd be pitching up on the shores of Belfast to join the cast as Oberyn Martell, affectionately known as the Red Viper. Sound ominous? It is. The Red Viper is GoTs newest anti-hero, “sexy and charming but driven by hate”. Sounds like he'll be right at home.
Pedro, on the other hand, though he looks good on paper, wasn't the obvious choice for the role. Expecting a big name to ride into King’s Landing, the show's fans took to forums to express their concerns as soon as the news broke. So is he worried? Like hell he is. “The fans had the part cast in their minds already. They knew who they wanted and it certainly was not me. But I'm not stupid, | presumed that people were going to say ‘who the fuck is this guy’. Since I anticipated the reaction it didn't throw me off.”
“There are so many different ways to go into battle with yourself when you're trying to get a job. I felt a certain amount of pressure because I wanted to make everyone happy. The fan base is so specific and, as a fan myself, I understand the relationship that they have with the show. The Red Viper is the best part I've ever played, and in season four shocks come at the most unexpected times. You might think you know, but you have no idea,” he explains.
Looks like the Red Viper could be in line to fill a Walter-White-sized-hole in television, but to test the theory we pit Pascal against Lena Headey, aka the Queen. Because if you can come away from Cersei unscathed, you can handle anything.
Tumblr media
LH: So, Pedro, you come into Game of Thrones in season four, playing a pretty major character. Does that fill you with joy or dread?
PP: I'd say it fills me with joy because it’s a really fucking fun part. He’s a badass. He comes up against a lot of the main characters in the show. I'm very aware of the show. I watch it like a fan.
LH: Were you a fan before you arrived in Belfast?
PP: Yeah, I was a proper fan. I was caught up in the drama of it before I even auditioned for the part. I was already up to speed.
LH: I remember meeting you and thinking, “he fucking loves the show’.
PP: I kissed your ass.
LH: Well, it worked. We're friends now.
PP: I was like a tourist visiting the set, and yet I had to act with you and be in a scene with the characters that I had such a specific association with already.
LH: So you’re saying it’s boring?
PP: No, it wasn’t boring at all. It was extremely, relentlessly surreal.
Tumblr media
LH: And who were your favourite characters up until that point?
PP: Not you.
LH: I realise that!
PP: There are too many characters to have a favourite, but I was fascinated by the Lannisters because they're so frightening. They scared me and then you would come in and pull sympathy from your audience somehow, and I found that rather fascinating. The Northerners were so easy to like or get behind, but it was quite something to see people sympathise with a Lannister, after you made people see things from their perspective.
LH: Speaking of being slightly ambiguous as a character, you come in as a major player and a very well-loved character in the eyes of people who read the books, and he’s somewhat of an anti-hero. Did you base him on anyone?
PP: What does an anti-hero mean exactly?
LH: It means he doesn't wear deodorant, doesn't it? [Laughs]. Someone you shouldn't champion, but you do, like Walter White in Breaking Bad.
PP: No, | didn’t really base him on anyone.
LH: Did you take anything from classic movies that you thought you could use and spin to your advantage playing the Red Viper?
PP: God, that’s a good question. I probably did subconsciously. Now I feel under the spotlight because I need to think of somebody, and I have so many in my mind! I think that’s something that is happening a lot in TV today: the anti-heroes are central to these television shows, and people are really getting behind them, even though they're not necessarily the most moral characters. So I'd say that ‘ve become more familiar with the character who's obviously very flawed but gets you on their side — you have complicated feelings about them. But I think I saw the story too much from this character's perspective to perceive any flaws.
Tumblr media
LH: He has some.
PP: I know, from the outside. But I don't see any of them. What are his flaws?
LH: His flaws? He's a dirty bastard!
PP: Why is he a dirty bastard? He likes to fucking fight, for sure.
LH: Back to you as an actor. You've done it for a long time and, as we all know, the path is not always golden, and sometimes you think, “fuck it” and you want to leave it and do something else. Have there been moments where you wanted to give up?
PP: Yes, there have been moments where I came very close to giving up. But I never had anything to fall back on. I think you can understand that.
Tumblr media
LH: Because were stupid?
PP: We're stupid.
LH: I can't even make pizza!
PP: We don’t have any other skills.
LH: None at all!
PP: And that’s the odd conundrum. You get to a point where you think, “This isn’t going to happen. This isn’t sustainable. I'm too exhausted, and it can't be good for me.” There were moments where I truly did try to formulate an idea of what I'd do. I thought I'd go back to school, start pre-med again and go to medical school or something like that.
LH: But that didn't happen, you just thought about it?
PP: Yes, I'd have thoughts, but it was still fantasy really. But at the time it felt like a practical life plan. Do you know what I mean?
LH: Yeah of course, you need to pay the fucking rent.
PP: Exactly. You just try to escape from the chaos of what you're feeling by trying to create order in your life. Order seems like a solution to save you from the pain of acting!
Tumblr media
LH: It's a mental pain. Who was the first person you called when you got the role?
PP: My sister.
LH: Does she watch the show?
PP: Yes, she does.
LH: Pedro Pascal... or Pablo as I called you when I had too much wine, which was deeply insulting.
PP: Even family members have done that to me! Do I look more like a Pablo? Because it happens with about ninety-five percent of the people I meet.
LH: No, I think I’m just an ignorant drunk person.
PP: No, you were an ignorant drunk person that night is what you're saying.
LH: And now I’m educated.
PP: [Whispers] But | want you to call me Pablo.
LH: Ok, Pablo! When you first arrived on set in Northern Ireland, what was your feeling showing up to a bunch of British actors? Did it feel different to doing an American project?
PP: Yes, but I loved it. It wasn’t intimidating. I found it surreal because I’d watched and loved the show. I hadn't had the opportunity to work on something that I was really familiar with before, so it was overwhelming. But it was far more delightful than intimidating. Also you guys were really cool. Everyone was friendly.
LH: Oh, that’s just fake.
PP: Well, you guys were good at it!
Tumblr media
LH: We know Game of Thrones is very popular obviously. Do you have any thoughts, or fears, about what this is going to bring you in terms of exposure?
PP: I have hope.
LH: Oh, God. I don’t mean to shatter that, but give it up.
PP: I don’t know really. It’s all been filmed, and now I'm back to my normal routine, so I haven't really thought about it. I remember when we finished filming and we were on our way to the airport, you asked me, “How does it feel you're all done?” and I couldn't really answer.
LH: You were quite emotional that day.
PP: I was very emotional because I’d had such an amazing time doing the part. Also just being there immersed in the experience... You described it to me best. You told me how I'd be feeling.
LH: We don't know your character's backstory when you enter the show, and you have some rather brutal scenes. Anyone who has read the books will know what I’m talking about.
PP: My character comes in, he stirs a bunch of shit up, and then he makes this fucking enormous exit. Now can | ask you a question?
Tumblr media
LH: What is it? I’m not going to sleep with you. Give it up.
PP: Oh, come on! This has gone to shit and it’s your fault, so good luck to whoever has to edit it! But anyway, sometimes I'd hang out with the cast members and we'd go to dinner and they would get stopped constantly. There was no denying who they played because they were so recognisable, but you got away with it because you have this beautiful blonde wig on in the show, and in real life you are...
LH: Grey?
PP: {Laughs] No! You have beautiful chestnut hair! Is it liberating to not be recognised the way some of the other cast members are?
LH: Yes, it is liberating.
PP: Liberating being able to walk down an alley in Dubrovnik without being stopped?
LH: Yes, except sometimes | get recognised in the weirdest places. A woman was emptying my bag at Heathrow Airport's security gates and just went, “Are you the Queen?” while rummaging through my underwear. It was so fucking weird.
PP: It seems they're more respectful to you?
LH: Because they're frightened. Wait until they meet the Viper.
PP: Well, that covers it.
LH: I think we're going to get our own show out of this, you know

So this is to the few people who enjoy Robert California/Erin content and fanfictions. I was rewatching the Christmas Wishes episode and I got a little disappointed again, just like the first time I watched it. I think it was clear to everyone how Robert and Erin had huge chemistry in this episode and on the other hand Andy was a jerk! Why didn't Erin kiss Robert? When he calls her to take a walk and said in his usual provocative tone of voice "I was hoping you were going to make me feel better." Seriously. I screamed. They should have kissed! The way Robert's hand slid smoothly over Erin's arms and how he took care of her when she was drunk. I mean, I am not crazy, AM I? They're both adults and one more time: ANDY WAS A JERK! – and Robert is always a good-looking man, by the way.
Tumblr media
And EVEN MORE, notice the way he was always gleaming to her while she was having fun! Just look at the manner he gazes at her, in explicit admiration! Take the hint! Robert used to be the kind of half-hearted man or even untoward/kinky sometimes, but he was enthralled by Erin's energy at that party. I dare say it was a glimmer of interest which shined through Robert on that night.
"She's remarkable" Yes, Robert. She is. Definitely. And I think you're a ride she would've survived.
Tumblr media
So, I don't have anything to say anymore. I'm totally partial to Robert. And I started enjoying Erin because of him. So... sorry if you like Andy, but I think he doesn't deserve Erin at all.
