Text
Nina is the only crow who can talk to someone without being entirely awkward or getting herself punched, and that is one of the most valuable skills everyone else in the crows lacks 💀

sotus and sotus s were kinda way ahead of their time and nobody is ready for this conversation
Yes it did receive appreciation for being a trendsetter of university setting in BLs but the criticisms on lack of intimacy is getting on my nerves.
First of all, the main focus seems to be on the senior-junior struggle with hazing and the characters' internal struggles. THE AIM WAS NOT FANSERVICE AT ALL.
With that being said, it is completely normal for them to NOT be all over each other on screen even in season 2. Portraying emotional intimacy is harder than physical & it's done beautifully. They are two boys trying to graduate and do well in their jobs, it's absurd for them to come home and be all energetic in bed.
The relationship is actually balanced in its own way. Arthit gets a lot of hate for not communicating enough. When it actually does not seem like the case. Because in s2 he tells Kong "We can normally talk about anything, right?" That actually shows they are close enough to have tough conversations without jeopardising their relationship. Arthit knows since s1 that Kong is a rich kid, only he never know who exactly his father was.
Moreover Arthit's introversion & mysteriousness is what seems to draw Kong to him. We see how possessive Kong is - he cannot stand anyone else knowing little details such as pink milk & Aioon. I bet he'd not like him if Arthit was an easily likeable popular extrovert. The fact that Arthit is visibly shy is enough for Kong. And the fact that Arthit does not say "I love you" or "You are my world" regularly is what makes his words more valuable. Because Kong knows that it means beyond the surface in a situation when he says it.
It's good that Arthit continues to be shy & silent even in s2. Because that shatters the most common misconception that people change. He himself says that he loves Kong regardless, and saying it everyday would only reduce its importance. (Also, he's shy & that's how he is. Kongpob can accept it so it's all good innit?) Despite taking a long time to deal with his inner struggles he always comes back. He doesn't go around announcing about his relationship, but he does not keep it a secret forever either.
And the fear of society is actually well portrayed. University & workplace is different. Your sexual orientation doesn't reflect on your academic reports, but it CAN reflect as workplace discrimination. We also see that Arthit slowly realises that nobody is gossiping like he imagined. That's how he learns how pointless his worries were.
There are other shattered stereotypes. Such as the owner's nephew being a hard worker unlike the general nepotism character. And Earth just taking her time to warm up instead of turning out to be the female villian.
With all this being said, the show has a balance of silly entertainment & realistic ish character growth, idk it's a hill I'm willing to die on kbye.

Kingdom Hearts Characters: Lea/Axel
What I think of the character: So many thoughts about him. Axel was a really fun villain in Chain of Memories and a pretty interesting morally gray character, being the devious assasin throughout his time as a Nobody but was friendly, fun-loving and had a soft spot to him that still made him likeable. However, he did a lot of awful things and deeply hurt a lot of people, but many of them get overlooked once he gets recompleted as Lea and I don't think they should be. I don't take issue with him being a flawed character as long as he learns and fixes his mistakes, but he has a lot of work to do to atone and earn trust and forgiveness. Giving him a keyblade might be fanservice but it was a good way to make him self-reflect, discover what's most important to him, show his determination to fix his mistakes and bring back the friends he lost by his own actions. Unfortunately that potential was lost in KH3 and he didn't really do anything for the war or to atone, he mostly became comic relief with a couple of emotional moments. Xemnas destroying his keyblade and beating him up was just the final insult to his arc. And I think that's a shame because he definitely deserved a character arc and deserved to be more than comic relief. While I don't entirely hate him, I can have a lot of trouble forgiving him for the things he did at times. I do really like his chakrams and keyblade though, and I've always loved fire powers and had a soft spot for characters who use them.
Headcannons:
How he got those teardrop tattoos. We know Saïx gave them to him to help him stop crying, which I like though I wish it had a slightly different context because it's not healthy to discourage crying. Maybe as a charm to wipe away tears, or ward away the need for them? I like to think it happened soon after they became Nobodies, with Lea struggling to cope with everything that happened, especially if Saïx got his scar just before that.
The manga showed that, despite being an extrovert who tries to befriend everyone and taking it upon himself to be the big brother to his group of teens, he isn't as socially smooth and can be a bit more awkward than most realise. He's surprisingly particular about personal space and being touched, and isn't comfortable about physical intimacy with just anyone, only people he's particularly close to. The games kind of hint at this too, so I'm not sure how much this counts as a headcannon, but I'll put it here anyway.
Has a magical connection to the sun, but far more subtle than Isa's connection to the moon. It makes his fire magic easier to use when outside during the day.
Relationships:
Roxas and Xion: I like the idea a lot, and the dynamic is cute. However, what I think a lot of people don't realise is that the relationship is not as wholesome, innocent and harmless as it appears on the surface. Axel used deception and force to keep them with him in the Organisation, and while none of the options were good, it was still toxic and manipulative, and he hurt a lot of other people for them as well. What he did in Days and 2 wasn't healthy, and it isn't cute seeing a grown man do those things because he was obsessed with keeping a pair of vulnerable children. I don't ship Lea with either of them because of the age gap, he's more of a big brother in the role of guardian.
Isa/Saïx: I like the dynamic a lot, and they play off each others strengths and weaknesses very well, and I'm really intrigued by their story. I take huge issue with Axel replacing Saïx and abandoning him when he needed him most, and it's the thing I find hardest to forgive Axel for. I am glad they were able to reconcile, but I wish Lea had taken more responsibility and done more to make up for it and show he really cared about him post recompletion, because there was no excuse. Also no, I don't ship them partly because of what I just said and because I'm not big on romance in general. I just like them as best friends/honorary brothers.
Kairi: It was nice to see them patch things up in KH3 and Lea trying to make amends. It's a shame KH3 was had too much going on to expand on this more, I like to think that Kairi was able to give him some much needed emotional support, help him come to terms with his past and process any guilt he feels about what happened.
Subject X: This is definitely a retcon and sudden thing to bring up now of all times, particularly with Axels many conflicting motivations, but I do like the idea a lot. It adds an extra layer Lea's and Isa's story and motivations, makes things more tragic. It also gives a personal perspective to enhance how messed up the human experiments done by Ansem, Xehanort and the other apprentices did really were, instead of just being facts and figures. Because it's one of many motivations Axel eventually abandoned, despite him claiming not to have given up, its a bit difficult to say how he really feels about it with the "content to miss what's gone" quote from his secret reports in Days. It could be taken to mean he gave up and stopped caring, which would have made his actions and situation with Saix make a lot of sense. But it could also mean he still cares and wants to look, but is 'content to just miss her' for the time being and isn't letting it dominate his life and stopping him appreciating what is going on in the present, which is a healthier attitude to have that is also in line with Lea's personality. We don't know what their relationship was like yet, but I hope they find her in the future.

For the character ask game Ryuzo (who else lol): 3, 4, 8
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
I'll be honest, I may not be completely happy with the answer because I feel like could be explaining more. I feel like there's definitely an underuse of him in the game, which, as a whole fails to create more depth. This is not only a problem I feel happens with Ryuzo, but with many of the side characters too. Missing scenes that make it seem like his decision to join the Khan was easily made after his men were captured and fed, or wondering what kind of vibe there was within the Straw Hats before the invasion. Weren't it for the Open The Gate moment, I think he wouldn't have had half the appreciation he's gotten (tho he's definitely not the most popular character other than Jin, not even in the jp fandom. Actually, in a poll Norio was the winner in that one), and since that is a crucial scene, making players become attached to him and to sympathize with him. I was pretty surprised when I learnt that this scene wasn't even part of SP's initial script. I don't know if SP had planned more content for him and Jin and it was scrapped completely because the final product was nearing the limits of their budget, or if they didn't have anything extra planned. Surprisingly though, his betrayal in Kaneda castle was pretty different in the original storyboard, and I'm glad they changed that one.😂 I know you're aware Life After Phasma released cut content of the game, which included some background info about Ryuzo, but I wonder if SP discarded that because they didn't like it, or thought it was just not important. I don't know what I would have done if I had full control of the game. Probably developing an entire game about him and making the studio go bankrupt because it would not generate enough funds because Jin is not the main attraction this time and/or the story would suck. Wish I could be wrong, though.
Something I feel a little meeeeh about is how Jin in one of his hallucinations in Ikishima is showing bitter resentment about having trusted Ryuzo, and then it ends like that. This I would appreciate more if it was delved into, like how his trauma with Kazumasa is explored and explained throughout the dlc, until he kinda gets to "heal" from it. In the post-credits, Ryuzo's betrayal and loss feels like unfinished business for Jin, a trauma not yet healed. And I hope this gets to be explored and established in the next game. I'll be disappointed if Ryuzo isn't ever mentioned once in the sequel, to be honest.
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
Definitely Lies of P, which I have an AU for.
Ghost of Tsushima as a soulslike would be pretty awesome, too.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Despise is a very negative word. I'll tone it down as just being something I don't quite enjoy, personally. One thing: when people make him too likeable and extroverted for my taste. He is probably not that likeable, deep down, let's face it. (Tho I'm guilty as charged for making him a questionably amazing hugger).
Also, there seems to be a general establishment that he's a top in his sexual dynamic with Jin. Well, I think he is a just pillow princess with an inferiority complex.

If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
As adorable as A'idan is, he's too talkative and energetic for me. We'd probably get along but he'd exhaust me so quickly that I would keep him at a distance most time than not.
Inge's pretty closed off even though she doesn't give that impression. I do believe we'd become friends given time, but it'd be a matter of many years. There's no real fast friendship with her anymore.
Aïcha is the typical extrovert who will adopt any introvert people she thinks she can vibe with. She also reminds me of an ex-coworker of mine I've lost contact with during Covid, so yeah, fast friend with her.
I find Skaar pretty cool as a character but we don't have anything in common so I'd say we'd get along well in the same way you might get along with a coworker that you don't necessarily want to see outside of work.
Wolfe and I would get along... weirdly. Probably a lot of heated discussions and debates, whether we disagree or not :'D But I think he'd be the one I'd have the easiest time communicating with, even though it might not look like that. Most likely end up being actual friends at some point.
Kazan, it's difficult to say. But he's calm, mostly silent, usually reasonable, so I think we'd get along just fine. Probably would sort of adopt him as a little brother, much to his annoyance.
Astrid's too shy and doesn't speak her mind enough for my taste. I don't think she'd find me tactful enough.
Alakja is a silly grandpa who's spent most of his life alone in the forest, save for tribal festivities and sex. He's nice and pretty and stupid. I don't know. I suppose we'd get along? I don't think I'd know what to do with him :'D
The Advocate would give me the creeps because that's what he does to everybody. If I manage to get past that, we'd become friends I think. At the very least, we'd get along just fine. He's nice and chill and loves art and deep conversations and cats, so really...
Hanae would give me the creeps and I would stay the hell away from her, as you should. She can be trusted only as far as you're useful to her, and I've met too many people like her to even entertain the idea of giving her a chance.
Griveroix... Not that any follower really knows who's that guy but I don't think I'd like him very much even if you don't know who I'm talking about XD He's not a very likeable guy overall anyway. Doesn't even try.
Aku is another important NPC, and we'd get along just fine. He's a cool guy, if a bit misguided at times.
I have too many characters but I don't think I've forgotten anyone? Anyway, thanks for the ask, @irisopranta!

Do you have any suggestions for getting into the character's POV writing? I always feel like mine is superficial.
When it comes to that, I believe the most important thing is to figure out the voice of the character. Voice and characterization aren’t the same thing, but they do go hand in hand.
Whether you’re writing in 1st or 3rd person, you are presenting the world through the eyes of a specific person. The readers will have to figure this out on their own, so you’ll have to use specific lines, leave distinctive hints.
In order to put yourself in the character’s shoes, you need to understand what distinguishes them from all the other characters, that peculiar something that makes you go “oh, this is blorbo, isn’t it!”
These are the main questions that I ask myself when figuring out a new narrative PoV:
1) Is this character an introvert or an extrovert? (Meaning, do they passively let things happen around them, commenting to themselves about it, or are they playing a more active role in the story, influencing events and people around them with their actions?)
An example of this in my case would be how I write Kirari vs Ririka (for obvious reasons, I’ll use KKG characters for some examples). I usually write Ririka as someone who minds her business unless she’s forced to do otherwise (and that in itself is also part of characterization, and thus voice). On the other hand, Kirari likes to tease and meddle. If she’s observing a situation, rest assured that it’s only because she either caused it or because she will soon walk right into the middle of it.
2) How do they express themselves?
Ikishima is a rude ass motherfucker in canon. She can and she will curse as often as she pleases, both aloud and in her own thoughts. Her speech is generally crass and it can easily be jarring for those who are forced to listen to her.
Sayaka, on the other hand, fullfills a very important role; in a way, she’s an extension of Kirari within the school, thus she always strives to be impeccable — unless something or someone makes her lose her shit.
Things like cursing, language quirks, the use of dialect and slang are very powerful tools when it comes to shaping a character’s voice.
If you’re writing fanfiction, make sure to re-read or re-watch the source material and try to pay attention to their speech. If you’re writing original characters, figure out things like where they come from, their age, the things that influence them the most, the reasons why they’d speak in a certain manner or not, etc…
3) What do they like and what do they dislike?
Very broad, I know, and that’s exactly why it’s so useful.
If you’re writing from the PoV of a die-hard basketball fan they might make a point to use metaphors and figures of speech connected to that sport. If somebody hates the color yellow and they’re forced to speak with someone who’s wearing a yellow dress, the detail should have relevance, even if it’s so stupidly small.
Sights, smells, sounds, textures, tastes, places, people: literally every human experience calls for a reaction, pleasant or unpleasant. Use this to your advantage!
4) What are their physical traits?
A short person will see the world differently than a tall one. And a fat one from a skinny one, and someone who’s always been considered pretty from someone who’s always been made fun of because of their big ass nose— and so on and so forth.
To make a practical example, Terano uses a wheelchair so of course she won’t be happy to be faced with a flight of stairs. Yumeko has no stamina, so she’ll also have grievances to share.
The readers tend to bond with the characters, and that’s moreso true in fanfiction. Things like bonking your head on things when you’re too tall will make your characters more human, more similar to the readers — and thus more likeable.
Of course, this is a double-edged sword: half of the comments might be “ahah, I do that!” and the other half could be “oh instead of x I usually do y”. Make sure to know what you’re writing about, most importantly if you’ve never experienced the same things as your character.
That’s about all I do.
To summarize: make sure you nail down the characterization of the characters before you attempt to write from their PoV. Every little detail can and will help you express their voice, making it unmistakably theirs.
Of course, practice makes perfect, so the more you write, the easier it will become eventually.
For fairness’ sake, I will also add that this can be obtained on different levels, so I wouldn’t worry about being shallow. You’re not always supposed or able to interpret a character to its fullest, and that’s alright! We’re writers, not actors. Do your best, place all the landmarks that you can think of. I promise most of the readers will figure it out on their own.
Hope this helps!

WAAAARGHHHH social interaction is SO HARD for me….. but it’s okay, it’s a skill required in the adult work force…. I have to preserve and act like an extrovert!!!!!!! The trick is to calm yourself down, and to really really be in the moment. No overthinking!!!!! Don’t overthink!!!!!!!!!! Know what to do !!!! gyarghhhhh rghbdbbdeindj *exhaustion*
Someone’s who is likeable and easy to talk too is an essential member to the workforce of any company, smooth talking clients, getting people to agree to your proposals or have a good impression of you. This is all really important. Putting myself out there, crawling out of my comfort zone, are all very very important. Almost every work out there requires some kind of human interaction… interviews, first impression, how one presents themself
Gaining experience is important, I didn’t have to be so worried about it! I don’t have to maul over the WhatsApp messages I send or questions, it’s all not worth it! Joining conversations, learning social cues (I am DEVASTATINGLY bad at this)….. I can’t live in my own comfort bubble anymore……… !!!!!!

reading dreams chart
im only going to use up to orb 3, for stronger accuracy lmao
**if you can’t be bothered to read it all, theres a summary paragraph at the bottom**
sun:
sun in 7th: strong emphasis on relationships. tends to copy others lingo/habits. extroverted. probably ‘needs’ others. only really shows his true self around his close friends/family/partners.
sun at 19 degrees: a libra degree. (emphasis on this bc libra rules 7h), makes him a very charming, likeable, particularly popular guy.
sun opposite ascendant: inner conflict, probably doesn’t feel like people see him for his true self, may struggle showing true self. may feel misunderstood. may need approval/validation a lot.
sun square mars: hints to daddy issues. may struggle with a lot of built up anger and frustration, but it seems like he takes it out very positively, as you can see he is competitive, so i think he lets it out through gaming. probably very energetic, motivated.
sun square saturn: high expectations for himself. probably the type of person to think ‘i’m only good enough if i do this’. probably very hard on himself. also probably very insecure of himself, but doesn’t show it. another sun square masculine planet, more hinting to daddy issues.
moon:
moon in 7th: probably relies on close friends/family/partners a lot. loves to help people, esp people he’s close with (kinda mr beast vibes). probably very like ‘oh shit, he’s sad, i need to do everything within my power to cheer him up’ if that makes sense lmao
moon in virgo: looking after people!!! esp with the sun square saturn,, high expectations. probably a very much perfectionist, which also explains why he is competitive. may ‘always need to be right’. but virgo moons are actually so lovely omfg
moon at 9 degrees: sagittarius degree, likes to help people by optimism, and giving things to the person that they would want (im aware that sounds obvious lmao). probably feels a sense of achievement when cheers them up.
moon square pluto: probably hard time dealing with and growing from negative things that have happened, possibly struggles with letting things go. possibly self destructive (why did that one heatwaves part come to mind), possible trust issues + anxiety, probably very particular about who he lets close into his life, maybe quite protective.
mercury:
mercury in 6th: likes to help people, probably not disappointed if he spends his time working with someone, may struggle with anxiety/depression. a quick learner, probably overthink every word because it wast the ‘perfect’ thing to say.
mercury in leo: funny asf, and out there, also thinks his ideas/things to respond and say are the best, with the 6h and 7h placements, he is open to listen to others, but in the end he only really wants his one lmfao, good with conversation.
mercury at 1 degree: aries degree, another fire placement which emphasises the loud, out there kinda vibes.
mercury trine mc: career and reputation are strongly linked with what he says. (this is obv bc hes famous lmao). he’s smart, particularly with technology and its linked to his career. *im aware this sounds like im just describing him, this is exact so thats why its overly accurate*
mercury opposite neptune: daydreamer, probably has a lot of thoughts and ideas in his head, but they just dont come across right. probably zones out, may struggle with focusing. but very creative, has big and creative ideas. i havent mentioned it before but its come up too many times now, but he has a lot of placements, when manifested badly, creates a good manipulator
mercury square jupiter: optimistic, possibly thinks his ideas are the best (we’ve covered that before), can be really overly talkative or just nothing at all. (i rlly dont know much about this placement)

north node:
north node in 6th: overwork himself. but i think we can interpret this as his life goal to be working to help people. literally mr beast. just work hard, and give a lot away. humble.
chiron:
chiron in 9th: possible restriction from either his or his communities beliefs/religions. maybe he’s afraid of leaving where he is right now (sapnap moving to orlando, whenever its brought up its always george coming to orlando)
lilith:
lilith in sagittarius: need for truth. dislikes restrictions. hides emotions, uses humour to avoid them/ make people think they’re okay when they’re not. stubborn asf.
lilith in 10th: tend to be sexualised/ reputations for being sexual. another placement hinting to daddy issues. really wants to be at the top, the most powerful. likes using his dominance/ power to seduce. motivateddd.
lilith conjunct pluto (exact omfg): typical ‘mystery’ guy. probably the mystery/scorpio vibes he pulls off attracts/ seduces people. the most dominant partner ever. sex is probably so intense and overwhelming
moon square lilith: possible mummy issues. his need for sex can change quick asf, from one end of the scale to another. struggles to open up.
 i ought to mention!!
there’s a theory that the degree of your venus sign is the birthday of someone who is v important in your life. what’s dreams you may ask? 1. and when are george and sapnap’s birthdays? the 1st. they’re soulmates, your honour.
summary!!!
basically, dream has so much care and love for his friends and family, and probably relies on them a lot. he only shows his true self around them, and he (at least thinks) people don’t really understand him in the way his friends and family do. he is a social person, who’s very likeable and charming. he lovesss helping people, doing everything in his power to cheer others up, he remembers details about the people he loves. he is such a perfectionist, needing to succeed and win and everything, and is very competitive. he probably doesn’t think he’s ‘worthy’ if he’s bad at something. he sets very high expectations for himself. he is very hard on himself. if he wants to, he knows how to manipulate people. he has so so many placements for an amazing manipulator. he may struggle to express himself or open up, and may be hard on himself academically. maybe he doesn’t feel ‘listened to’. a lot of emotions like anger and sex drive may change rapidly for him. he over works himself a lot. a major theme in his life is tradition vs change. he is probably afraid of change, or finds it uncomfortable, or he may have some sort of attachment to traditional values/things, no matter how much he wants to change. he is also a peacemaker. he was born to be loved or hated, kinda like marmite but if the balance was more equal. he doesn’t like restrictions. he uses humour to hide his emotions.
im also thinking of doing a synastry reading between george and dream but idk yet lol
hope you guys enjoyed, this took ages lmao<3

you know what my issue with ochako is? 90% of the time it doesn't feel like she has a real struggle anymore.
her deal is that she wants to be like deku, because he's selfless and heroic and saves people with a smile or whatever, and the way the story frames it, you'd think she'd be some absolute heathen/has some mega selfish reason to be a hero/needs to do a lot of growing to achieve the saint like motivations deku has, when tbh... it's not like that at all?
she's already super nice, she already works hard and tries her best, and her initial reasoning for becoming a hero i.e the money, isn't even remotely as selfish as it seems since at the end of the day she just wants her struggling parents to live a carefree life.
she's already pretty much on the top tier of the moral righteousness scale, but the manga acts like im supposed to treat her going from wanting to make her parents smile to wanting to make the people she saves smile as some sort of monumental step. bravo, you want to graduate from really very good person to cerified angel. yippee ig?
she's got the same problem as izuku where she starts out the series objectively and indisputably good, so horikoshi has nowhere to take her character really. she doesn't have mc plot shit or any of izuku's baggage to fall back on, doesn't have any important insecurities outside of her crush like say kirishima and yaomomo, doesn't have a proper moment to display her 'dark' side and mess up like iida, no major personality/family relationship problems to fix like bakugou and todoroki... you get the point.
where is her character supposed to go in that situation? she's got no room to grow. and maybe it's my fault because i tend to get utterly disinterested when it's time for her parts in the manga but i've never understood in what area she supposedly needs growth in that's not physical power. like she's already a good kid.
her relationship with toga is a display of the other side of the coin of society for her, but again, toga is doing most of the heavy lifting, and toga herself is a highly compelling character with several plots and important relationships outside of ochako.
i think ochako is a very likeable character, she has a sweet and fun personality when i started out the series i just thought the was the female extroverted version of a never bullied izuku tbh, same eyes and all. and they're both pretty damn high up there on the moral perfection scale she's just not compelling to me.
and like, you could argue that it's a prettynormal teenager thing to take a crush so seriously and that this is a realistic problem one would have, but it falls flat compared to the arcs of other characters. if you're not going to actually develop that romance and make it two sided, then give ochako a flaw that's hers exclusively and isnt connected to deku. kacchan's problem, while kind of over the top, is an example of a realistic complex a kid with no tragic backstory might have in a society like theirs that stays interesting. shinsou and even monoma are other examples. give her something idk. i've beaten this horse dead by now but the idea that she has to grow in spirit to stand next to the almighty jesus deku when she's already a stellar human being is just weird lol.
You’re absolutely right, and the most frustrating part for me is that she does have a problem that needs attention but has never been explained or even talked about
And it is her parents money struggle, but it’s not the being poor that’s the struggle
I wanna know why they’re poor in the first place?? And she should too!!!!
Her parents run a CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
You know what would be a very stable and reliable source of income in a world were villainous giants might fight human bombs??
Probably anything to do with fixing infrastructure, her parents could specialize in solely window replacements and they should realistically be making enough to send Uraraka’s grandkids to college
So what’s the deal??? Loan sharks?? Dad got a gambling problem?? They footing the bill of an American relatives medical expenses??
THERES SHENANIGANS AFOOT, I KNOW IT!!!

vent post bc i fuckin love Don from the promised neverland.
character analysis below the cut
personality:
we don’t see much of Don until episode 4, but there are a few things about his personality we can infer up to this point.
1) Don is very close with the younger children of the house
2) Don was exceptionally close to conny
this first screenshot is taken from the last few seconds of the opening where Don is the only older child grouped with younger children. this relationship dynamic hasn’t really been given a lot of spotlight outside of the opening or the first few minutes of episode 1 when Don is seen holding conny when emma greets them.
Tumblr media
other than his close relationships with the younger children, we can see that Don has a very similar personality to emma. he’s carefree, extroverted, and tends to hope for the best in situations.
when emma reveals the “truth” that the children are being trafficked, Don’s response is to laugh, because he honestly doesn’t believe such a terrible thing could be true. he’s lived his whole life in grace field, established important relationships with the children, and without a doubt loves his whole family.
Tumblr media
but then emma doesn’t reveal that she is tricking him, and Don quickly becomes concerned. a small tangent, but lets discuss ages for a brief moment.
1) norman reveals that the younger a child is, and the lower the test scores, the sooner they are shipped
2) emma, ray, and norman are the oldest children in grace field, and i’m assuming Don and gilda are the next oldest
3) from these facts, we can then assume that Don and gilda are not at perfect scores like our main trio, but are smart enough to have continued past the age of 6 at grace field. given that most of the children are young, its likely many of the children the 5 lived in the house with when they were much younger have already been shipped out. these 5 were the smartest of their “cohort,” and thus, have survived the longest.
back to Don’s relationship with conny. norman reveals the least of children shipped and their test scores. there were at least 2 children previously shipped before conny. while Don knew the other children, his first concern was for conny. he places a lot of importance on conny and i think that speaks to his strong connection to her. of course Don is most worried about her.
Tumblr media
when Don is faced with such a harsh “reality” that the children are not safe, what else is there to do when it seems the trio are holding back information? in episode 5, the trio attempt dissuading Don from checking out mom’s base of operations, as they don’t think its relevant to escaping.
however, i think its absolutely necessary for Don and gilda to discover the stakes of escaping. its live or die. Don /needs/ to be invested in the plan. the only way to ensure this is for him to discover that conny has actually died.
emma and Don:
emma and Don have a lot of similarities in their personalities. my initial reaction is that Don perhaps is more subdued, but we’ve hardly gotten any screen time with him. he feels emotions just as much as emma does, and he isn’t quite as 1-dimensional as he may seem at face value.
trust dynamics:
ray encourages emma to suspect other children as traitors, saying that she needs “to be more suspicious! thoroughly!” it is established with the main trio that suspicion is what will get them closer to escape. investigating loopholes, discovering clues that don’t add up--these are all essential to escaping and discovering the truth about the world they are living in.
bottom line: we see suspicion from the trio as just!
but when faced with the reality that Don and gilda are not always going to take the trio’s advice at face value, suddenly suspicion is bad! unwise! unhelpful! i disagree. Suspicion is absolutely necessary especially when the circumstances are life and death. Don and gilda are also losing the same family members the main trio are losing--its only right they suspect and discover the fate of their younger siblings.
bottom line: truth/discovery are a necessary subject in the promised neverland. without these elements, the plot just doesn’t develop. emma wouldn’t have found out the morse code in the books phil was reading, norman and emma wouldn’t have discovered the tall wall encircling them--we need to accept that other characters are their own individuals and that there are motives beyond just listening to the main trio because “they’re the smartest.” this sounds oddly similar to “i know what’s best for you.”
Tumblr media
additionally, ray is incredulous with the lie norman and emma told Don and gilda. in the previous line, ray admitted the lie they told the newer 2 was cruel. i assume ray believes they should have told Don and gilda the truth. at this point though, ray did not want to undermine norman and emma, since they have taken the lead on escaping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in episode 6, Don points out that emma, norman, and ray were fully prepared to take all of the young children into a “world full of enemies.” ultimately, if the trio had it their way, everyone would be absolutely unaware of the dire situation they were in. i’m on Don’s side: how absurd is it to hide from people that their lives are at stake, whether they stay at grace field or escape?
some other emotional quotes that made me cry when Don was trying to express how hurt he was:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
traitor dynamics:
and then we are introduced to the real traitor: ray. i think a lot of people may have been pleasantly surprised by this twist--this may have even encouraged people to take on ray as a new favorite character (i’m one of the people who absolutely adores ray’s character development).
Tumblr media
on the other hand, people were probably quick to assume it was Don instead before this grand reveal (which would lead to their surprise that is was ray in the first place). people have been gunning for Don for a while up to this point. he’s loud, he’s suspicious, he’s definitely a different personality type in terms of being told what to do. he’s an individual.
either way, i think some people may have been disappointed it wasn’t Don and (pleasantly) surprised it was ray, which... quite honestly says a lot.
up to this point, the characters have made it a point that the trio’s suspicion is fair--and i agree--but also, other characters should be allowed suspicion of everyone else, too.
race:
let’s face it. a lot of the dynamics occurring between the audience’s reaction of ray vs Don and emma vs Don are also influenced by race--or, at the very least colorism.
the trio is /allowed/ to be suspicious of Don, but Don is not allowed to suspect the trio or their lies.
emma is allowed to be boisterous and hopeful, but Don is not allowed to be this way.
in episode 6, the trio accost gilda and Don for disobeying orders, telling them they could have compromised their escape. to be honest, if i were in that situation, i would blow my top off; constantly being questioned/untrusted by my family? my siblings? Don is frustrated and angry and upset that he isn’t trusted--despite ray already being revealed as the spy. it’s not an explicit discussion, but its a dynamic that certainly exists. especially when the only other Black characters are Sister Krone (villain), Phil (ray’s first toddler-spy suspect), and Don (intelligence, trustworthiness constantly questioned by the trio).
TL;DR: Don and Emma are incredible similar personality types, they love their family as much as everyone else does and wants what’s best for them. at the end of the day though, we have to pay more attention to the ways some characters are consistently treated by other/light-skin characters. there’s a privilege for emma being a light-skinned girl and Don isn’t seen as likeable or innocent, because he’s a Black boy. Ages are incredibly important in the development of the story, the older you are, the smarter you are, give Don some credit that he has at-least above average intelligence. he’s smart, capable, caring, and expressive. I love Don and you should, too.

I would agree with the other person who said that j+p had a thing going on but Paul was more detached from it than John was. In my own analysis (all for fun of course) I would think that that’s how it went but Paul had more internalized homophobia than John did and wanted to detach himself as a way of protecting soemthing about himself. John didn’t have those hang ups and got annoyed/hurt by Paul because of it. A lot of Paul’s songs that could be about/to John all sound steeped in regret and longing because he regretted how he handled things and because he was too late to fix it.
This is just me and it’s all for fun but what do you think?
Id probably agree that John was more comfortable with his sexuality in later life then Paul was (assuming Paul is bi, and I think its important to note that im only referring to him as bi here hypothetically and only for speculative purposes; its okay to speculate, but also he identifies as straight and I think it is always crucial that we respect that <3) (<<< not having a go at anyone there btw, just wanted to make a quick note of it y'know).
Johns a bit of dilemma, because it seems he was simultaneously secure in his position as an outsider and a misfit, but also deeply, deeply insecure of it. I think there was always a form of alienation underpinning John throughout his entire lifetime (but maybe thats just projection lol). Whereas Paul I feel like didn't experience the same sort of alienation John did - im sure Paul felt a bit unique and stuff y'know, and im not saying he has no insecurities, but with Paul (presumably) being a much more stable, headstrong and confident person (because he appears to have had a more loving and stable upbringing) I think he's always sort of known he can fit in with people; always been a bit more of an extrovert maybe (?).
I think possibly another thing to note is that Paul did come from a more working-class background then John, and so I think that that is largely why he has always had this compulsion to maintain some of that 'average bloke' spirit in him - which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing; like I think its great that Paul tried to ensure his kids didnt grow up spoilt and materialistic etc. But I guess having that security of always having been a relatively normal person, as well as having this desire to remain a bit of an ‘average joe’ (again, obviously Paul is very special, but I just mean normal in the sense that he's appears to have always been friendly and likeable and able to relate to other people etc.) maybe makes coming to terms with any homosexual urges more difficult. Paul appears to be comfortable with his sexuality (eg. When Howard Stern asked him something like "have you had any gay experiences?", Paul didn't react all, "ewwwww no!!!!" instead he just reacts like a regular fuckin' human being, saying something like, "I haven't actually, no"). But I suppose my point might be more about if Paul does have internalised homophobia, it might not be to the extent that he feels he has to portray himself as this hyper-masculine caricature or anything, but more so that he wouldn't have the confidence to step so far out of the social norms as to enter a gay relationship. Like I think Paul kind of likes having this balance between being a very unique individual, but also being a very normal, average bloke y'know.
John on the other hand, I get the sense he was sort of more okay with his sexuality because he already understood that he doesn't fit in. Like I think at some point he realised there is this alienation that is just never gonna leave him, so he might as well sort of embrace those eccentricities rather then fight them (but that doesn’t mean I think he became a confident person or anything; people can embrace their eccentric nature outwardly but still have a deep self-loathing within them).
And so if they did have a casual fling and John wanted more, it does feel like it would make sense for Paul to want to keep it casual. He's okay with his sexuality to the extent that he doesn't overreact if someone questions it, he's supportive of gay people and he's not even concerned about platonically kissing another man (see the video of him giving Elton John a friendly kiss) - and I think, whether he's straight or bi, its great that he's comfortable with all of this - but if he had had a further gay experience with John, I think he wouldn't have taken it into a full-fledged relationship, because I think he wanted a wife and kids, because he does enjoy conventionality to a large extent. Whereas John I think wasn't really looking for a wife and kids and stuff (I mean he already had Cyn and Jules, and it doesn't seem like he was that interested in living a particularly domestic lifestyle y'know).
PS what songs are you thinking about with the last part? Ive got a few ideas of the type I think you're on about, but it might make it easier for me to address and analyse them directly <3

hey y’all, I’m here with min seojun — human paradox and your average bad boy pretending to be a sweet boy-next-door! he is currently a trainee under yuseong entertainment’s ys boys/blue.m, and is best known as etoile’s seoyul’s younger brother, or the trainee that went viral for his aegyo. I’ll leave some links down below, along with more information below the cut. I already have some plots up on my plots page, though it’s still a work in progress. if you’d like to plot, you can like this post and i’ll drop you an im, otherwise, we can also take it to discord!
( STATS / BIO / CAREER / PLOTS )
BACKGROUND.
while the mins are believed to be wealthy and from good backgrounds, they’re actually really poor in reality, though they’d rather keep this truth hidden from the world.
their mother is an alcoholic swept up in a big debt and their father, who could no longer deal with their mother’s toxic habits, walked out on them many years ago.
most of the siblings’ growing years were spent working part-time after school to pay for their mother’s debt so you could say they had a pretty rough childhood.
however, things started to look up for them when seoyul debuted as a member of etoile.
yuseong entertainment scouted seojun after a picture of him and his sister surfaced online; garnering attention from the public who were in awe of their good looks.
he was then called in to come down for an audition.
his audition was rather mediocre but he got in because of his looks, and the fact that he’s sister is a member of etoile, which he is frankly more than okay with.
and so, he started training from 2017 and was introduced as a part of ys boys in 2020.
a clip of seojun’s aegyo from a ys boys introductory video on their official youtube channel went viral and became an internet trend, with people recreating it on tiktok and instagram. some celebrities have also recreated it on variety shows and social media.
and that brings us to where we are now!
PERSONALITY.
the min siblings are essentially pretty faces that put on a fake front, with seojun’s being a 180 degree difference in personality.
his onscreen persona is bright, bubbly and energetic and he’s put in a lot of pastels and patterns (which he absolutely abhors; he wears more black on a daily basis), while he’s usually more private, nonchalant, and temperamental.
unlike the wholesome and endearing image he presents on camera, he often partakes in taboo activities like smoking and drinking, largely due to his rough childhood and bad relationship with his family, aside from his older sister.
pretends to be an extrovert (which really tires him out at times) but is actually an introvert who would rather be left alone when he isn’t at work.
does not really believe in sappy things like friendships and love as he’s convinced people wouldn’t love him for who he really is; tends to see most relationships as a business relationship, each with a purpose or a benefit in some sense (though there are exceptions!)
understandably not the most likeable person if you get to know the real him (I mean, he’s fake asf lol) and he usually doesn’t care, unless you’re someone that should like him.
incredibly good at using his charms to get what he wants; he knows what fans like to see and has no qualms about giving them what they want.
he’s lazy yet ambitious; doesn’t plan to work hard to get to the top, instead, he relies more on “shortcuts” like his looks, or creating moments that would go viral.
honestly kind of lonely and sad on the inside, not that he’d admit it. the more loved he is for his fake persona, the emptier he feels on the inside? he loves the attention for sure, but it only makes him question if he’d ever be loved like that if he was being himself, or if he can only be this loved when he is pretending to be someone he’s not.
as much as he appears to not care about most things (honestly wouldn’t even bat an eye if he got into a scandal the next day), his sister is incredibly important to him. after all, she was (and probably is) all that he has. this too, is one of the only things he’s honest about.

THIS REVIEW IS DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM LIFE THREATENING AND TERMINAL ILLNESSES, FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE READ TO THE END OF THE REVIEW. THANK YOU.
The Story
The story is about Asuna meeting the new champion of ALO.
The storytelling in this novel is really well done, it doesn't rush to the main conflict till the last third or so. And surprisingly, it works. The story gives very subtle hints that something is wrong, but the actual situation is hidden really well and when it finally arrives, it hits you like a stone!
The Characters
This story is mostly about the relationship between Asuna and the new character, Yuuki, and surprisingly, Asuna doesn't feel forced into this novel. If it was mainly following Kirito, the story won't have as much of an impact that this novel has on you.
Yuuki is given a lot of character development, she develops feelings for Asuna (it is implied that she is romantically interested in Asuna) and she has a very bubbly, eccentric personality. Which makes the last third of the novel evermore sadder.
The only thing that readers may complain about is Asuna's strict mother. Even though some of actions are a bit too harsh, I can see where she is coming from. I won't go into detail why because this is something that you should experience for yourself.
The Illustrations
The illustrations in this light novel are still very good. The only complaint I do have is that some of the illustrations don't have backgrounds (except for the last illustration, that has a bare background for a reason).
Final Thoughts
Overall, this light novel is a masterpiece. The story is well told, the characters are likeable and the illustrations are very well drawn.
Even if you have never read a Sword Art Online novel, if you want to try it out, pick this one up and see what you think!
The Story 5/5 The Characters 5/5 The Illustrations 4.5/5
Overall 4.5/5
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS TO THIS LIGHT NOVEL, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO COME BACK TO THIS AFTER YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK.
I have seen many illnesses and disorders represented in the media such as the films Rain Man, Forrest Gump, A Fault in our Stars and the Murmur of the Heart series. But many of these fail to portray these illnesses in a realistic and respectful way, that was until this book came along.
The new character, Yuuki, is revealed that she is suffering AIDS. But instead of just saying the name just to kill her off in the end, the novel goes into great detail of what HIV/AIDS is and how it affects the body. I didn't know that AIDS affected the brain until I read this novel.
Another thing I like about this novel is that Yuuki isn't a 1-dimensional character like many of the films I have mentioned fall into this trap, and in the rare case that the characters have 3-dimensional personalities, they turn out to be horrible people who think that they are better than everyone else (See my 'The Fault in our Stars' review if you want to know more about this topic). Yuuki is one of those rare characters that aren't those characters that the illness makes them automatically 3-dimensional characters, this novel shows that people aren't defined by the illnesses they have, it is the person who defines them, weather they have an outgoing, laid-back or nervous, introverted or extroverted. People are people, no matter what challenges they are currently facing.
And speaking about real people, many of them need our help, your help to make their lives a bit easier and that they are able to do what we take for granted.
There are many ways you can help, you can do a charity car boot sale, you could do a 'race for life' type event, or even drop some spare change into your local donation box. It is so easy to give a bit of what is yours to someone who has nothing at all.
Thank you for reading all of this, I know I don't usually write about sad topics that effect the real world, but this book struck me so hard that I just had to say something about it to my fans. I hope this has opened your eyes about how you can help others in their time of need.
