In the Mixiverse version of Star Wars, everything is still very much tragic. But there’s a difference: it’s almost completely impossible for everyone on Team Mix-In to stop themselves from empathizing with Anakin. Especially Katniss, who is literally his sister. Without even realizing it, Katniss actually drives Anakin down the path of the Dark Side even faster than his canon counterpart.
As a paradoxist, one must always guide their ward on the path they’re meant to follow. Unfortunately, Katniss is always out of the loop about where her wards are supposed to end up by the end of their stories. By the time the Star Wars arc begins, Katniss has been the backer for mainly protagonists who end up making the right decisions- or, in the case of Captain Jack Sparrow, decisions that are beneficial for the world in which they reside. So, Katniss incorrectly assumes that she’s supposed to guide Anakin in the same direction. And this is purely because she first meets him at a little boy.
It is extremely easy for the two of them to get along, but they have no idea why they can connect so easily to each other. We will learn in the next episode, but it is well established that Katniss becomes extremely protective of the boy. This is possibly because of his slight resemblance to a young Peeta Mellark, but we know that Anakin is actually far more similar to Katniss than any other character in any franchise. Or at least in my opinion.
Katniss is there when Anakin takes his first step to the Dark Side, and shortly afterwards he learns that Peeta is not all right, despite being told by Katniss that he was. This was brought on by extreme distress, which Anakin blames himself for. By now, the padawan has offered himself as a source of comfort to his backer after learning that she has been given almost no time to recover from several traumatic missions that took place prior to meeting him. And it’s here that he makes a vow to help the Mockingjay defeat the Capital and end the Hunger Games forever.
After breaking down and confessing to the atrocities that were committed in retaliation for his mother’s death, Anakin listens in on a private conversation between Katniss and the Doctor in which we learn that the Chosen One and the Mockingjay are related to each other through character building blocks that they share within their DNA. The Doctor has dubbed this as the Everdeen-Skywalker Extension, which Katniss remarks to with the line, “That makes us sound like we’re married.” And yes, Anakin shares this disdain for the term as well.
After Anakin’s first meeting as a member of the Jedi Council- Katniss is also a member, but only as a representative for Team Mix-In- and after being assigned to spy on Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin tells Katniss about the vow he made to her. Katniss does not react to this positively, and she tries to run away in the Tardis alone. Of course, she doesn’t know how to fly the Tardis. And the Tardis herself is very unwilling to let Katniss leave her family behind, even if it’s to go back to District Thirteen to complete her story. The Tardis pretends to take off… but then triggers a paradox that causes a group of rogue paradoxists- Zygons, to be specific- to come to Coruscant and try to take over the mission. Katniss and Anakin are forced to work together, despite currently going through a rough patch in light of the lack of communication, and the team is able to successfully take back their mission from the rogue paradoxists. Of course, they had help from a few friends: Head of Scientific Research at UNIT Kate Stewart, scientific adviser/ Stewart’s personal assistant Petronella Osgood, former apprentice of Anakin/ Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, and finally Clone Captain Rex.
Unfortunately, the literary siblings’ relationship is ripped apart by Darth Sidious when Anakin turns to the Dark Side.

so i’ve had a bit of time to process the show as a whole now that it’s over and let me just say this: i don’t think i’ve ever, ever watched a show quite so indulgently fun as kinnporsche.
this show doesn’t take itself too seriously. the creators have made a huge effort to balance the humor, angst, and sentimentality to create the perfect cocktail for every single episode. it’s tropey in the best way. sure, there are some plot holes, but usually only in the name of doing something cool or funny or emotionally satisfying. it’s here, it’s queer, and it’s doing its best to show you one hell of a good time.
watching it made me feel almost... taken care of, if that makes sense? like the creators are truly trying to make something that the audience will adore just as much as they do. they’re not trying to make themselves look clever. they’re not setting anything up without intending to deliver. they’re not playing with your emotions unnecessarily — they are guiding you gently towards moments of catharsis and joy, like good media creators should. every silly, sweet, insane, horny, devastating moment of this crazy little show was created to excite and delight you, the audience member. i have never felt quite so understood as a viewer as when i was watching kinnporsche. i miss it already.

| Previous Scene- “A Sith Lord?” |
{Padmè’s Apartment}
(Padmè sits alone, having allowed Lucy a well deserved break from backing her. She suddenly feels… Anakin… reaching out to her)
{The Jedi Temple}
(Anakin sits in his Council chair, contemplating what he’s about to do. A voice rings in his head) *Palpatine VO, faded* “You know, don’t you? If the Jedi destroy me, any chance of saving her will be lost.” (Anakin inhales deeply, desperately trying to reassure himself that this is the right thing to do. It’s all for Padmè. It’s all for the twins who reside in her womb)
{Padmè’s Apartment}
(Padmè walks to the window, sensing the conflict within Anakin. Anakin, the man she loves so desperately; the man who’s always trying his best; the father of her son and daughter, whose names she’s already picked out)
{The Jedi Temple}
(Anakin stands, walks to the window. He’s not the only one who’s reaching out to the person he loves most. Let’s keep our focus on Anidala for right now, okay? They’re just as important as our series regulars. 😌)
{Padmè’s Apartment}
(Padmè isn’t sure what’s happening, but somehow… Anakin is in trouble)
{The Jedi Temple}
(A tear falls down Anakin’s cheek as he tries not to feel the heavy burden of his future actions, and he turns away from the window… into the darkness)
{Padmè’s Apartment}
(C-3P0 walks up to Padmè, who turns to him) “Hi, 3P0.”
“Hello, Miss Padmè. Is there anything you’d like me to do for you tonight?”
(Padmè shakes her head) “No. You’ve done a great deal for me today. All of this work with the other Senators… I’m sure it won’t be for nothing.” (She sighs) “Actually, 3P0… it would be nice to have a bath.”
“Then I will happy to draw it for you, my lady.”
(The pregnant Senator of Naboo nods and smiles. And, unbeknownst to her, it will be the last genuine smile she’ll have for a long time)
{The Jedi Temple}
(Anakin Skywalker’s mind is made up: he needs to go to the Chancellor’s office. But he’s not quite ready to leave yet. Katniss is still struggling to make contact with someone she loves. He puts his hand on her shoulder, helping her to reach out to… Gale? [now, listen. Listen. Originally, Katniss had reached out to Prim. I made an error in this version of the scene, so I had to change it. I considered the possibility of her reaching out to Peeta… until I realized that Peeta would probably go into cardiac arrest if he felt Katniss in his head. So… as much as I dislike his character, I settled on having Katniss reach out to Gale. Keep in mind, this is before he causes the death of Primrose Everdeen. However… please don’t forget that this man is a toxic gobshite] Oh well. Anakin doesn’t question this)
{District Thirteen, Weapons Area}
(Gale is working on… bombs. [yes. Yes, folks. Those bombs. The bombs. You know, the ones that killed Prim? Yeah. Those ones] He looks up, feeling the presence of…) “Catnip?”
{The Jedi Temple}
(Katniss smiles softly. Behind her, Anakin makes… a puzzled face) *mouthing* “‘Catnip’?”
{Weapons Area}
(Gale sighs, shrugging it off as him just being tired. He goes back to work)
{The Jedi Temple}
(Katniss opens her eyes, feeling hurt that Gale didn’t try to connect with her. But Anakin is gone. Katniss looks around, then realizes what’s happening) “No. Ani!”
{Hangar}
(Anakin is running towards his ship when Katniss finds him. He senses her presence, turns to her) “I need you.” (Before she can argue) “You’re still my backer. Help me.”
(She winces, feeling her brain being poked again) “Ow!”
(Anakin grabs her hand, pulls her to the cockpit) “That wasn’t nothing! What’s going on?”
“I don’t know!”
(Anakin’s face softens, and he sees how frightened she is) “Well, we’ll figure it out. I promise.”
(As he closes the window, Katniss formulates a plan in her head to stop her brother from making the worst mistake he could possibly make. But the fact remains… her mind is still vulnerable. So, dear reader… be prepared. For once, I am going to be as reliable as I possibly can. But my opinions remain. Even so… Katniss Everdeen is in just as much danger as Anakin Skywalker. Just not in the same way)
