Lils's 2022 Fanfic Retrospective

Haven't done one of these in a while because something about Covid just seriously sapped my creative energies right out of me and I ended up not writing nearly as much as I wanted for 2020 and 2021. But something in Autumn of 2022 perked me back up, and here's what was accomplished:

Broken Hallelujah: My beloved non-linear narrative Archangel Samuel with Sastiel fic, with wonderful art by @jazzforthecaptain! Not a new fic by any stretch, but I did get a new chapter polished up enough to post.

Unspoken Rules Can't Be Broken: A deviation back into the Harry Potter fandom, because my fandom interests are ever-cyclical. This one was a writing prompt for Harry/Hermione with a specific prompted time-travel do-over premise. I'm not the only person to do it, but I seem to have done a few things that are unique according to my readers.

Wer zu Lebzeit gut auf Erden: More Supernatural! This one was a belated birthday gift to my beloved mutual enabler @rodiniaorzetalthepenquin, featuring a canon divergence at Swan Song where Lucifer and Michael were pushed into the Cage without their vessels, Gabriel took over Heaven, and the Winchesters were told firmly to take a few months (or years) off from doing anything that might break the world again. Very Samcentric despite being Dean's POV, and with some definite Sastiel undercurrents.

Every Time A Bell Rings: A platonic Destiel psuedo-sequel to "Wer zu Lebzeit" as a birthday gift for my bae @jupiterjames who deserved to have something sweet to enjoy. Castiel bakes a pie, and Dean has a canon praise kink. XD

Durch du Engel Halleluja: The actual sequel to "Wer zu Lebzeit" with Christmas, family togetherness, expected and unexpected guests, and Sam FINALLY gets to see the photographs Castiel and Dean keep taking. (Only chapter one got finished by midnight of December 31st, but by golly is this thing going to be finished before February!

Living, Learning, Tongue-Tied, Trying: A snippet originally written for Ro as a happy thought piggybacked off one of her fics of Team Free Will 2.0 before Chuck decided to be an assbutt with Jack going off to college. Also heavily Sastiel, because that's how we roll. XD

These Dying Embers: A contemplative Michael in the Cage watching Lucifer taking Sam apart over and over and over. I actually don't remember how long ago I wrote this one for @threshie, though if I took the hours needed to scroll back through my tumblr messaging history with Ro I'm sure I'd find a date range.

Crack Fic Hat Tricks: Also not new, these were born out of a writing challenge issued by @sageclover61 in one of the Discord servers. Despite the series name, they aren't all crack, but they were definitely all fun to write!

Burn Your Biographies: Sabriel this time! Possibly unrequited, possibly not, I left it ambiguous because Gabriel was a traumatized little puppy for a while there.

Maybe More Than Enough: What's this? A new installment of the Something Beautiful Sastimmy Soulmate Saga?? In 2022?? Yep, apparently so! Dean gets filled in on the scoop Sam got from Castiel and sets off to get his brother's soulmate and his family some supernatural protection.

Sons of Men, and Angels: WOOOOOO! This is the original start to the Samael series, the very first work that featured Sam time-travelling back to derail the Apocalypse! I started this thing soooooo many years ago, and there's still so much in this universe that I've got written but can't post yet because THIS, this one is where it all started! If you've already read the Sam Squared series, you'll have a ton of spoilers for where this is going. And speaking of that series....

In The End We'll Surely Lose: This baby got two more chapters added to it, and the fourth is almost ready to be put up! Truly this was a good year for working with Samael's stories because...

Margin of Loss: Ouch. This one hurt to write. It was a random little thought of the canon universe that Sam left behind in SoMaA and the seasons of mess that followed and what it meant that Dean said Yes to a Michael from a completely different timeline instead of the one still trapped in the Cage with Adam. (It may also have been the jumping point of another SoMaA spin-off series like Sam Squared; there's a few of them at this point.)

The Dragon's Librarian: Another somewhat random ficlet that spawned in Discord chat with Ro-- literally, I wrote the whole thing in the chat window. Platonic or pre-Sastiel, with Prince Sam and Dragon Castiel as a hefty dose of inspiration from The Enchanted Forest Chronicles because I will probably never stop loving those books.

And last but definitely not least....

Tell It On The Mountain: A fluffy Sastiel story for @mrswhozeewhatsis for the @spnfanficpond Secret Santa exchange, featuring physically manifested wings, truth compulsions, cuddling by the fire, and mutual consideration for consent and bodily autonomy. (With some Accidentally Engaged thrown in for fun. XD)

I see alot of people talking about how Triple H doing nxt 1.0 or black and gold however you wanna call it on the main roster is a bad idea seeing how 1.0 got thrashed by AEW however I honestly don’t think it’s a bad idea.

First off prepare yourself here for a POSITIVE wwe post from me here.

But really, Smackdown and Raw have their built in audience that CLEARLY isnt going to go anywhere, they’ve got a solid 1.5-1.8m people that are going to watch forever at this point no matter how bad the show gets so changing up the format of Raw and Smackdown after YEARS of terrible, unwatchable TV is a good thing.

NXT 2.0 should get rid of the bright colours and the really fucking insane shit that is never going to get over on a major scale, but it should also not return to the black and gold style.

Realistically NXT 2.0 should just not be on TV anymore and back on the network, under a much smaller magnifying glass and truly be developmental, exposing people like Lash Legend on national tv for being fucking useless is never going to help her.

Now that Vince is “gone” NXT can be the real developmental show and Raw and Smackdown can be booked as a hybrid of what Triple H truly wants, because he’s never going to go away from the “WWE” style but he can inject that ROH style of wrestling that he so clearly is a fan of.

WWE has needed change in the ring now for ages, and has been constantly trying to in the mid 10′s with Rollins, Styles, Danielson, Punk and so many more bringing in higher workrate, but Vince was never going to be that guy.

It’s going to take a long time, and personally I’m still going to continue to just check out any snippets I like on youtube later on because WWE hasn’t earned back the trust for me, but it is still a positive thing.

ML Theory: Episode 22, Finale, Ladynoir, and Everything Else

This will have rocketear and finale synopsis spoilers - be warned.

I genuinely do think that the two part finale of season 4, "The Last Attack of Shadowmoth" (which is,,, a title to say the least; more on that in a bit) is gonna be so tense for a variety of reasons.

Rocketear Analysis

We have a couple of gamechanger episodes coming up. Rocketear definitely was a gamechanger as Adrien was able to realize that Alya and Nino are aware of each other's identities with Ladybug giving them permission. And he's angry about it. He knows that Ladybug lied to him about the rules, and he also knows that her being the guardian is definitely something that has led to their relationship being affected (flashbacks to a previous s4 ep when he's like it's cool if she's the guardian, as long as their partnership isn't affected - well that was some foreshadowing, wasn't it?). Honestly, seeing that as Marinette makes all the rules now as guardian, her decisions should be able to include her knowing Chat's identity. But. Chat Blanc exists, and I think that her not telling him about it and hiding it from him is a parallel to how she wanted Alya to hide the truth from Nino (obviously this failed too - Alya went behind her back to tell Nino the truth). She knows that he'd understand if she told him and its better to tell him that he may destroy everything if they knew each other's identities than left him feeling isolated and alone and at risk for literally getting akumatized. By isolating him, she's quite literally putting the world at risk for Chat Blanc 2.0, rather than her telling him something heartbreaking and being there for him so he doesn't get hurt by Shadow Moth's intentions. I think that she'll come to realize this in the finale and learn from her mistakes.

I think that in this screenshot, we got a snippet of foreshadowing of what's to come:

I saw some people theorize that this is foreshadowing that Adrien's real identity is between Ladynoir, and while this could be general foreshadowing for the entirety of the show (Marinette is in love with Adrien, and that's why she can't love Chat Noir), I do think that interpretation could be misplaced here due to the tone of the episode. Instead, I believe that this is foreshadowing that Chat may reveal himself to Ladybug. After all, she literally knows the identity of literally every other person who has a miraculous, and is the guardian.

*Side note: It also reminds me a lot of Felix. Could be a reference to that? Not sure what my thoughts on that being, but it's just somehting that struck me.

Episode 22

In my mind, it would make most sense for Adrien to reveal himself in episode 22. We've been told by the people who make the show that since episode 22 is the 100th episode of the show overall, it will be incredibly serious. This episode may run the highest risk of Adrien being akumatized into Chat Blanc again, as tensions are definitely running high. However, another akumatization event could happen, and Chat could be left out again, making him angry. I think that him getting akumatized is more likely, however. This is because of his appearance in Sentibubbler - I think that's foreshadowing. After everything is taken care of, Chat Noir and Ladybug will get into an argument. Chat will tell Ladybug that he knows about Alya and Nino, and that he thinks she's a hypocrite. He was loyal to her, and now he's having his doubts about their partnership, because he doesn't even think its a partnership anymore. Ladybug is the guardian and has more secrets that she is keeping from him. She talks about Chat Blanc and tells him that him finding out her identity leads to basically the end of the world. Adrien is surprised that he was akumatized before. He then gets mad at her for literally hiding this from him when they could've taken precautions beforehand, and then could possibly assert that he doesn't know what else she's hiding from him. He also, at the same time, doesn't feel like he should be Chat Noir anymore if he poses that much of a risk to the world. He detransforms in front of her and gives her the miraculous. He tells her he won't be a problem again, and leaves.

Finale

Ladybug, of course, realizes her mistake and tries to get him back. However, over the course of 23 and 24, she is caught up with Alya and Nino's problems with them not hiding their secrets. Adrien is already scheduled to leave Paris for a couple of weeks with Lila, and Ladybug trying to persuade him to stay is basically one of the main conflicts of the final episode. Pair this with "ShadowMoth's Last Attack" and you've got a season finale. I think the name of the season finale, is, as always, a misdirect. There's no way Gabriel is getting all his miraculous taken away until season 5, as that's when the full reveal happens, so it seems like he'll return to just regular old Hawkie. I don't think it would make sense for him to be disarmed now and for next season's finale to have the full reveal. Here's the synopsis below so we can dissect it.

Shadowmoth's Last Attack

Having understood that if Ladybug always triumphs, it's thanks to her prudence, Papillombre (Shadow Moth) conceives a diabolical plan around a super villain endowed with the power to push his victims to take all risks. When Marinette learns that Adrien must leave Paris for several weeks with Lila, new muse of the Agreste brand, she is ready to do she is ready to do anything to stop him. How far will she go? Even to the fatal risk of betraying her secret identity for love? And will Adrien take the risk to finally stand up to his father?

Okay, so let's dissect this. What I said before adds up to Adrien leaving with Lila. It would also explain why Marinette would potentially reveal herself to Adrien, if only to get him to stay. Because she knows that he's Chat, and maybe her being Marinette will somehow influence his decision. Or, it may show him that she's finally willing to trust him with everything.

It could also allude back to the song in the movie. Since the Miraculous movie was originally intended to act as a finale to Season 5, we can take things from early development and see if they end up fitting in the narrative. In this situation I'm going to quote "Ce mur qui nous separe" (English translation: The Wall Between Us), the French song that was made for the movie when it was intended to be the Season 5 finale.

It’s strong when I see him I want to scream on the rooftops our love that reaches out to us But I know that I can’t It’s not the right moment We have to be patient be patient

Here's the French translation in case the translation Genius gave me was wrong:

C’est fort quand je le vois Je veux crier sur tous les toits Notre amour qui nous tend les bras Mais je sais que je ne dois pas Ce n’est pas le moment Il faut être patients Être patients

This part of the song is from Marinette's perspective, and the fact that she's saying that she has to wait for the right moment to actually be in love with him probably means that she knows Adrien's identity. Because why would she "know" that she can't love him? Why is it not the right moment? Why do they have to be patient? Her being Ladybug and being unable to be in a relationship may explain why it's not the right moment, but the fact that she says "our" love points me in another direction. She knows she loves Adrien, and she knows that Chat, and therefore, Adrien, loves her. But she can't tell him her identity yet. However, her knowing his identity would make sense. I remember that before season 4 started airing, a lot of the fandom wondered if Chat was going to have to reveal his identity to her because she's the guardian. After all, that would make sense. Them making it a problem over the course of the season would mean that it would have to be handled in some way. I think that her finding out Chat's identity is probably the most logical course of action, as she can't be a good guardian until she has all the information at her disposal.

There are two specific lines which I find interesting in the finale synopsis. The part where it says, "Papillombre (Shadow Moth) conceives a diabolical plan around a super villain endowed with the power to push his victims to take all risks," is particularly interesting. This could mean a couple of things. Shadow Moth could be akumatizing Felix - after all, he stopped at nothing to try and replace Adrien in order to ruin his relationship with his friends. He kissed Ladybug when she told him no. He was snooping in Adrien's things. Clearly, there was nothing he wasn't willing to do in order to get the ring back. (This whole thing is never explained either after Felix - why is the ring so important?) Maybe that will make a comeback? Or, the "his" in the synopsis where it specifies that the villain has no limits, may be referring to Shadowmoth. In that situation, it could be Lila who is again akumatized. She has clearly no limits, as she's working for Shadow Moth willingly, and likely knows his identity. This is one likely scenario. Or Shadowmoth will akumatize Adrien. He may feel detached, and Gabriel will interpret it as being sad that he's being taken away from all of his friends. Adrien is known for being quite stubborn, and having Ladybug fight Adrien's akumatized state would be season finale material. However, if he is akumatized in the finale as something else, then the Chat Blanc akumatization in episode 22 is unlikely (they wouldn't do something like that twice in a row). Of course, his akumatized state would be different than Chat Blanc because people can be akumatized into multiple different villains and Hawkie doesn't know that Adrien=Chat Noir.

The second line that I find particularly interesting is this one:

And will Adrien take the risk to finally stand up to his father?

Now, why would Adrien stand up to his father? Maybe with literally everyone betraying him, he'll find no reason to stay. He needs a constant in his life, and telling his father that he needs him to be here for him may be a step that he makes. After all, Ladybug and him are having their biggest fight, his best friend Nino told him that he finds his hero persona absolutely abhorrent, and he doesn't feel like he has a place on the superhero team. He needs someone, and he's hoping that Gabriel can be that person.

That could be one scenario, or Adrien may find out about Hawkie's basement. Now, this, could raise a lot of questions for him. While I believe that Adrien would have the normal tendency to be like "father, what the hell." He may honestly believe that this is all he has left, and therefore, will assist his father. This takes me back to the season 2 opening card.

Where is Chat Noir? With the villains.

Maybe Adrien will have his well deserved Dark!Chat Noir arc. Or maybe, he'll be a spy for the Quantic team. Ladybug and him will make up, and he'll tell her that he can spy on Hawkie for the team, and that's how they move into season 5 - with Adrien as a double agent. He will help his father in everything that he does, and therefore, get access to more information that he can share with the team. He can help establish a meeting for Hawk Moth to get caught, with evidence, by planting cameras, calling police, etc.

Honestly, I'm hoping for the latter subplot, as I don't want Chat Noir to go evil for everyone's sakes. I do think that the latter would also give him a cementable role that would logistically make sense and help establish him as an strong character, and more importantly, a valuable member of the team and Ladybug's true partner.

Or, they could go down the more simpler route, and choose Adrien to find out, be shocked, and then yell at his father for being who he is. Gabriel just assumes because Adrien is only just Adrien, he doesn't have to worry about him. He will threaten Adrien, and Adrien will stay silent in front of him, but tell the team on the side. Of course, this doesn't really mean double agent Adrien, but it still implies spy Adrien. It also still manages to make his character more relevant.

Regardless, there's a lot of different ways that line could go, and I'm excited to see where it moves on from there.

Implications on the Love Square

The love square seems entirely messed up this season. There is almost nothing going on in relation to it, especially in regards to Ladynoir, Ladrien, and Marichat. Adrienette has honestly the most action right now, especially with the reverse umbrella scene, them helping out Juleka together, etc. This leads me to think that while we'll get a lot of Ladynoir in the finale as they repair their relationship, Adrienette may be the strongest ship of the four when moving into season 5. Let me explain why.

Over the course of this entire season, Adrien has been getting closer to Marinette, and is honestly more warm with her than he has been with Ladybug. This can explain what everyone has been thinking - a reverse love square. Even if Ladybug and him make up, Chat may honestly want to go and see other people. This includes Mari. What Nino said about Ladybug finding him annoying may actually really affect him and his feelings and make him realize that he can find love elsewhere. It's also the fact that it was enunciated twice during Rocketear that Alya couldn't fall in love with someone that she didn't really know. That could lead Adrien to wonder if he really knows Ladybug, which will definitely complicate his feelings. The Kagami thing was never going to work out, so he just needs to find someone else who cares for him. He knows Marinette; he has called her similar to Ladybug - he may rebound from Ladybug to Marinette. Ladybug may realize that she messed up, and she has already shown that she is becoming more indifferent to dating Adrien, due to what happened with Luka. When she and Chat Noir fix their relationship, she may see him as the only person she doesn't have to lie to, and therefore thinks about pursuing a relationship with him. Therefore, a reverse love square would make the most sense in this situation.

If a ship were to start actually dating in season 5 - it may honestly depend on how the finale is. The two most likely ships imo are either Ladynoir or Adrienette. If Ladynoir makes up during the finale, then the barriers to them dating aren't really present, unless the Alya thing actually makes it complicated for them. Adrienette may get together, but Marinette is wary of dating because she's Ladybug. However, we all know she's weak in the knees for Adrien and will definitely say yes if he asked her out.

Therefore, I feel like this season is leaning more towards plot and character development, and while it may set some things up for season 5, it is important to pay attention at the little shifts in the square, because they are happening right in front of us.

Alya and Marinette

I wanted to be able to talk about this at some point in this theory, but since everything else is more Adrien centric, I added it here at the end. Okay, so we know that Alya is lying to Marinette about telling Nino things. We also know that Alya has bended the rules for Nino multiple times, both before and during Rocketear. This could go one of two ways: Alya telling Nino teaches Marinette that she needs to be able to trust Chat, and therefore helps her realize that she doesn't need to be so secretive and lie all the time. It could also lead to a plot where Alya basically messed up largely by telling Nino, and everything goes downhill from there. Ladybug shows Chat that they can't know each other's identities because of what happened with them. We also Nino is a bit of a blabbermouth - love his character, but he is. He told Adrien not only his identity, but also Alya's. He also told him that they know the other's identity. This is bad, and Adrien knowing definitely affects the plot later on. If Adrien ends up revealing himself to Ladybug, it is likely that she'll find out about Nino saying that, and having to revoke their kwamis. This could lead to a strained relationship with Alya. In fact, it is likely that at this point, Marinette will already have a strained relationship with Alya, as it could be revealed that Alya told Nino about Rena Furtive. This could lead to Ladybug being defensive and worried that she made mistakes, and literally just closing the Miraculous box because of it. Maybe Alya will go rogue? After all, it was mentioned in Rocketear (and I appreciate that they talked about this) how Alya was a reporter and that by extension means that her personality is one of a truthteller. Alya getting angry at Mari could definitely lead to a situation where she threatens to tell he everyone. I don't think Alya would or could do that, but anger leads to akumatization, and an akumatized Alya would not be good for anyone as her judgement would be impaired. Regardless, Rena Furtive may be a short time hero, and Mari and Alya may end the season in a fight. I don't see that being resolved in the finale, as no fight like that is mentioned in those episodes. There is also simply too much going on in the finale for it to make sense. It may be resolved later on, just like how other problems in season 3 started being solved in the beginning of season 4. Or, it could be fought out and resolved in episodes 23 and 24.

Therefore, I think that the Nino carelessly revealing his identity and Alya carelessly disregarding Ladybug's orders may lead to a plotpoint at some point where Alya and Ladybug fight. While I do think that it would be nice if Alya proved Ladybug wrong and showed that they were stronger for working together, I do not think it's likely. The show was deliberate in showing that Alya had a weakness for Nino, and has shown before that it has led to many situations where there were risks for everyone involved. Even Hawkmoth said that love and secrets don't go well together (is he talking from experience?), and I feel like that was so deliberate, but it could also be alluding to Chat and Ladybug. (Side note: it was so weird for Hawk Moth to say that, as he had no idea of the situation; regardless I do think this it's heavy foreshadowing.) Therefore, I do not think the situation that Alya has placed herself in is a situation which will have a peaceful ending.

Final Notes:

I personally cannot wait for the "Gabriel Agreste" episode. I think that the fact that we did not get it yet means that it has serious story implications. Personally, I believe it's going to explain allllll the backstory we need for the whole Bourgeois/Tsurugi/Agreste history and tell us why Emilie is the way she is right now. Of course, maybe it won't do everything, but the fact that it is named after Gabriel makes me wonder if it'll be his origins episode of sorts.

EDIT AFTER MEGA LEECH: IF GABRIEL AGRESTE REVEALS ADRIEN TO BE A SENTIMONSTER I WILL BE SO SO EXCITED BC ANGST BUT ALSO LIKE??? WHAT ABOUT THE PLOT? WHAT ABOUT THE NINE YEAR OLDS?

Chat snapping is honestly something that I cannot wait for. All of his anger has been building up over the entire season thus far, and the implications of his feelings are definitely serious for the show's plot.

I wonder if Mayura will be making a comeback at some point. While this is less relevant, Nathalie's health seems to be making her bedridden for a long time. Maybe she'll return to a similar state to Emilie? I saw theories that stated that if Hawkie gets his wish, Nathalie's life may be sacrificed for Emilie's, and idk, I think it's not likely that it'll happen, but it would be cool if it did. The ultimate payback for his actions being the loss of Nathalie.

He's looking at the moon, which was shown in New York to be something he does when he's sad. Also possible reference to him destroying the moon in Chat Blanc.

Eighteen Again: Chapter Fifteen snippet 2.0

The cobblestones exploding was perhaps the worst part of all, James decided later.

The explosion from Borgin and Burkes knocked him and Sirius back several feet, their bodies tossed through the air like leaves blown in the wind. James came down hard, breath knocked out of him, glasses askew, ears ringing, eyes burning, body aching. For a second, he couldn’t think, too focused on all the horrific physical sensations in his body.

In the next second, a great chunk of cobblestone came down next to his neck, just missing him by inches, and he threw his arms over his head in anticipation of more.

Rubble rained down, some chunks the size of snitches, others as big as quaffles or bludgers. One of the ‘bludgers’ hit him square in the shoulder, knocking the wind out of him a second time, and sound rushed back to his ears over the shrill, piercing ringing that had overtaken his senses. Suddenly he could hear screaming, the ripping roar of fire, the snap of broken wood as the sign that hung over Borgin and Burkes—that had hung over Borgin and Burkes—fell to the ground and splintered. He turned at the noise and saw the entire front of the building blown out, the large picture window a gaping hole, Borgin’s carefully-curated wares spilt all over the ruined cobblestones, fire engulfing the building’s second story.

In the next second, a spell narrowly missed his side, landing a mere few feet from him, and adrenaline and reflex kicked in.

I was tagged by @sad-elf-bullshit (I really don't know why I can't tag you 😭) to post the titles of my WIPs and if asked share some snippets from them. So please have some pitty with me and ask me about them.

Some of the not finished texts on ao3 are already finished on my drive so I don't list them here (mainly Roots and Butterfly Effect), but if you like to know something about those texts, you can ask me anyway! In fact you can ask me anything about my texts at every time. Anyway. Let's get to the actual WIPs!

1. Mirrors (Spiegel), a Naruto fic in which Tsunade discovers that her grandpa was not the person she thinks he was. Aka she suddenly awakens a Sharingan, ooops. Kinda next gen Butterfly Verse

2. Adamantine (Adamanten), another Naruto fic and technically a wip, because I currently work on the last chapter with Obito and Kakashi getting trolled by Tobirama. That will hopefully be the last chapter for that, although there is probably more potential in that idea. But... I don't want to :D If everything goes well you maybe even get that this Sunday already and if not then the following days.

3. Childhood memories (Kindheitserinnerungen), a Tolkien fic about our fave kidnap fam. You know how that goes. A lot of angst, a lot of trauma but also found family ❤️

4. The Bliss of Valinor (Das Glück Valinors), a Tolkien fic and the second part of my Angbang series about the time of Melkor's captivity and Marion's schemes in Valinor.

5. Ohta 2.0 because I don't have a real title yet. Probably Shadow in the East or something like that. It's a rework of an old text about Annatar coming to Eregion and seducing Celebrimbor to smith the Rings of Power.

6. Tide's Change (Von der Gezeiten Wechsel), another Tolkien fic rework of my very first longfic all about Legolas. But Tbh I somehow lost interest. Maybe someday in the future...

7. Ghost of Uchiha (Geist der Uchiha), modern AU Naruto fic with HashiMadaMito and TobiIzu and Madara collection liltte lost Uchiha kids (aka Obito, Itachi and Sasuke)

8. Elrond's diaries (Elronds Tagebücher), as the title says 😅 Those are pretty old texts. From time to time I rework one of the chapters and post them.

9. Lady of Times and Worlds (Herrin der Zeiten und Welten), yes, that's kinda a wip, too. Still not finished 😩 Third part of my Earenis series.

Guess that's all for now. I have some very old corpses rotting on my drive I don't even remember much about. Plus ideas for some more. Better just check out my overview post.

being baby / being yours

You were the baby of the group, that much was certain from the very moment you appeared in David’s vlogs. It didn’t seem like much of an issue initially, you helped Jason feel young (despite you being a few years older than Wyatt) and loved the chill days to the overly extra events David organised.

After your face became one more familiar with fans, they grew to love you. Some had their fair share of comments to make about your age and you hanging out with people almost double yours, but those ones you simply swept under the carpet. You were happy, and living your best life with the friends you’ve grown closer with in the past year and a half. In particular, the one who started it all for you.

It wasn’t something either of you necessarily anticipated happening, but your friendship simply blossomed into more. From the late nights editing to the breakfast burritos you would pick up on your way over, things started to change. You’d lean into him when you felt sleepy and he’d offer to drive you home to holding your hand in crowded places, ensuring you he wouldn’t let go.

Of course, this was all private. Despite times when fans might’ve caught a snippet of something it was easily plausible as something else. You were starting to grow tired of walking on eggshells when filming, knowing when you had to be ‘on’ and times you could unwind. More comments started to pop up regarding your friendship and whether it could be something else.

“Hey, Dave?” You call out from the kitchen as you lean against the counter, digging through the Taco Bell bags.

From the sofa, David doesn’t even have to turn around to know you’ve lost something. The sound of you ruffling the bags and huffing to yourself gives it all away and he can’t help but smile to himself at the thought.

“Check the drawer on your right!” David yells across the room as he continues to edit, hearing you mutter a thank you in response before walking over with two burritos and a drink.

Plopping yourself down beside him, you glance over to his screen. “Still editing, huh?” You question, taking a bite of your breakfast whilst David rubs his eyes before nodding.

“It’s taken me most of the night,” He admits through a long sigh. “but I’m almost done.” David watches as you focus on him with concern.

“So that’s why you weren’t answering my texts.” You mutter under your breath as David places his laptop down and turns to face you.

“Hey,” He moves the conversation on, knowing you really needed to talk last night. “Will, will you watch it through in a bit, just to make sure it’s okay?” He glances over, seeing you coughing on your burrito.

“You want me to give you the final okay?” You question with wide eyes, but David smiles back and nods.

“I trust your opinion, Y/n.” He tells you, nudging your arm lightly before leaning in and kissing you softly.

Pulling away, you rest your forehead against his as the same thoughts from last night still swirl around your mind. “Dave,” You start before he moves back to his original position on the couch, sinking into the fabric. “I know you don’t wanna talk about it, but, what exactly are we?”

David goes silent for a moment as he focuses on his laptop, seeing the video is paused on a frame of you laughing with Ilya. It’s your real smile displayed, not one that’s forced for show. God, he loves your smile.

“Dave?” You speak up again as he snaps out from his thoughts, averting his attention back to you.

“I mean,” David starts, but realises he has no idea where he’s directing this conversation. “we’re really good friends, right?” He looks over to see you unimpressed as you roll your eyes. “Like, really good friends, but I don’t wanna label it.” He tells you and his ears perk up as you scoff.

“So we’re friends with benefits?” You coldly retort, but David shakes his head rapidly.

“No, no.” He states. “You mean more to me than just a friend with benefits, Y/n/n.” His hand reaches out for yours, taking it in his as he strokes it with his thumb, not wanting to let you go.

“Okay, so what is this then?” You question once more, starting to pull away at his long silence. “Right, I get it.” You scoff as you rise to your feet.

“Y/n, wait,” David sighs, turning around as he kneels on the sofa watching as you stand in the kitchen with your car keys in hand. “I just, I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression.” He states and you roll your eyes.

“That’s dumb, David.” You scold him, but David shakes his head and rolls over before walking toward you.

“It’s not, Y/n. I know what fans are like, they’ll tear this apart.” He reasons, leaning closer to wrap his arms around you, but you move aside.

“This is because of my age, isn’t it? You don’t want to be seen with someone immature right?” You ask him, watching as he lowers his head. “Okay then,” You mutter, fighting back tears. “let me know once you’ve matured, David. Then we’ll talk.” You walk out the front door with that, hearing it shut behind you as tears line your cheeks.

It had been over a week since you walked out on David, and your absence was definitely noted.

You thought it wouldn’t make much of a difference, but you were quickly notified by fans that they missed you. They wondered what happened as questions and conspiracies laced your timeline on Twitter. Some were closer than others, but it was a private matter at the end of the day, that is one thing David wanted to be sure of.

Across town, David wasn’t doing much better. He continued to film and edit the vlogs, but he missed seeing you in his footage. Everyone could see how miserable he was, but despite their best efforts he just wouldn’t listen.

“You guys don’t understand, they’ll eat her up.” He tried his best to reason, explain his side of the story but no one would accept that response.

Sitting in his living room with a few others, Natalie walks in with a stern look on her face. She looks across to see David, still in the same hoodie for the third day. “Hey, Dave?” She calls out, looking down at her phone. “Can you get the door when it rings, it’s a delivery.” She asks and David gives her a thumbs up, averting his attention back to his footage.

As the doorbell sounds, David continues to edit. “Erm, David?” Carly speaks up, snapping David from his deep concentration.

“Oh, right.” David mutters to himself, walking toward the door to accept the delivery.

What he wasn’t expecting was to be greeted by his parents smiling sympathetically to him. “David!” His Mom chuckles, wrapping her arms around him as he remains frozen on the spot.

“What the fuck?” He laughs as he Dad shakes his hand. “I, what’re you doing here?” He asks, watching as his parents share a knowing look.

“We’re here to talk about Y/n.” His Dad speaks up, crossing his arms before smiling past David.

Turning around, David notices Natalie stood there. “Hey guys,” She waves, ignoring the annoyance in David’s face as he watches her take his seat on the sofa.

“Come on, David.” His Mom leads him away as she waves to everyone before following her son into his bedroom and closing the door. “Okay, so Natalie has filled us in on a bit.” She starts, looking to Pavo who sighs.

“Y/n seems like a nice girl, David.” He states, shrugging his shoulders as his Mom sighs.

“Real helpful, thanks honey.” She mutters before taking a seat beside David on the edge of his bed. “We just want you to be happy, and from what we can see when Y/n is around, you truly are.” She squeezes his shoulders lightly as she wraps an arm around him, pulling him closer into her embrace. “What’s so bad about that?”

“I just know we’ll get so much backlash because of her age.” David admits, looking down at the floor rather than the unimpressed looks his parents are exchanging.

“Age is just a number son,” Pavo speaks up. “if you’re happy, and if you’re in love, it makes no difference.” He explains with a smile on his face, glancing over to his wife. “If she makes you happy, don’t let others stop you.”

After a long needed talk with his parents, David knew what he had to do. It was just a matter of having the balls to actually go over to your place and admit it.

“She lives twenty minutes away, David.” Natalie continues to try and psych him up to the best of her ability as David remains seated in front of his phone, hoping you’ll pop up and say something first.

“I know, I’m just nervous.” He mutters under his breath before turning his phone to face down. “What if she hates me?”

Natalie scoffs in response. “There’s no way she’d hate you. I mean, have you read the comments on social media?” She questions and David nods. “It’s not just yours or hers, we’re all getting the same comments.” Natalie explains, realising it was news to David.

“So everyone misses her?” He asks and Natalie eagerly nods.

“Yes. Literally, the majority of comments are asking where she’s gone to. No explanation, no story or mention of her. It’s like she’s dead.” Natalie huffs and watches as David rises to his feet at last.

“I’m going to do it.” He tells himself, not quite meeting Natalie’s gaze. “I, I have to otherwise I’ll never hear the end of it.” A small laugh escapes his lips as he realises what is about to happen, that he’ll finally tell you the full truth.

“You got this, Dave.” Natalie wraps her arms around him, giving him a squeeze before releasing him. “And if you come back having failed, I will ban you from postmates for a month.” She sternly warns him, but David shrugs it off as he walks toward the front door, not wanting to look back.

As David pulls up outside of your house, he can see all of your lights are on inside. It’s a positive sign, but also one that’s causing his heart rate to increase rapidly.

Taking a deep shaky breath, David climbs out of his car and nears your front door. Hundreds of versions run through his mind of the speech he initially had planned, but now all the words have muddled together into gibberish.

Standing in front of your door he shuts his eyes as he knocks before stepping back. His breath hitches in his throat as the door opens and David opens his mouth to speak, but you aren’t in front of him. Someone else is.

“Hi, can I help?” A tall man with blonde hair stands in front of David, towering over him.

“I erm, is Y/n in?” David stutters through his words as the man tries to discreetly look David up and down before turning around and glancing over his shoulder.

“She’s not in right now. But I can let her know you stopped by?” The guy suggests and David silently sighs as he nods.

“That’d be great, thanks, dude. Just, just tell her David wanted to apologise.” He sadly admits before turning around and walking away, wondering if he missed his chance once and for all.

These are the Destiel fics that I have bookmarked and would suggest for everyone to read. They are top notch in every department and I’ve read each and every multiple times. I wrote them down from the lowest word count to the highest and I linked the authors to their tumblr accounts, whenever I could find them, so please go shower them with love!

Touchstone - by xylodemon - Words: 3,519 - Summary: "You're in pain," Cas says finally. He sounds sad. (Episode tag for 11x03, the one where Dean is hurt but doesn’t think he deserves Cas healing him. Cas disagrees and makes heals him in loveliest, most tender way. Everything is beautiful.)

Colette - by englandwouldfall - Words: 4,218 - Summary: Cain’s prediction keeps ringing in his ears. He’s going to kill Crowley, then Cas, then Sam. It makes sense to him. He hates how much sense it makes, but there’s something almost poetic about it; it’s circular, neat, the Mark wants it. The Mark wants to destroy everything, but most of all it wants to destroy Dean. And that would do it. (Episode tag 10x14, Dean struggling with the Mark, unable to deal with all the anger and urge to kill and Cas trying to be his savior Collette. Feelings are acknowledged but things are far more complicated than that.)

(Boys walking on eggshells around each other, Castiel mistaking Dean’s neatness for annoyance about Cas’s lack of thereof, Dean mistaking Cas’s apprehension for having one foot out of the door. Miscommunication that gets resolved. It’s delightful!)

Dean's career is going great, so he can easily afford the house on his own now. This is just growing up, moving forward to the next phase of their lives.It would be awesome, if he weren't in love with Cas. (Some angst and miscommunication among roomies who are in love but needed a little push to finally do something about it, and that push is Cas deciding to move out and live with his actual boyfriend. Things work out just fine.)

So glad we made it - by annie d (scaramouche) - Words: 16,421 - Summary: At twelve years old, Dean makes a friend, who becomes his best friend, who will eventually become the love of his life. (Destiel fic in which they know each other since childhood and take their sweet-ass time with admitting to each other that they’re otp: meant to be. But it happens. Timeline of little snippets that show them falling in love and owning that shit up, at last!)

I know who I want to take me home- by annodominique - Words: 17,548 - Summary: The one where Dean and Cas are new workmates who hate each other's guts, are somehow forced into driving each other crazy because they secretly want to fuck, and they might have fallen in love with each other in the process. (Lots of sexual tension, mutual pining and enemies to lovers storyline - all in a nursing home. It’s amazing and absolutely heartwarming.)

Welcome to humanity - by winnywriter - Words: 19,944 - Summary: Castiel is falling, slowly but surely becoming fully human. Every day there is something new to discover, and many of those discoveries are not wholly pleasant ones. And the whole time, Dean can't help but worry about the fact that the further the angel falls, the more he finds he likes the human Cas is becoming. (It’s exactly what the summary says it is. Moments of Castiel slowly becoming human and Dean trying to help him navigate that path while navigating it himself in the most Dean way possible)

On air - by wincechesters - Words: 21,219 - Summary: Cas and Dean are radio DJs who host the second most popular morning show in Lawrence. They’ve been co-hosts for years at different stations across the country, and they own a house together out of necessity, even though they’re just friends. But for some reason, a lot of their listeners and even some of their friends and family seem to think that they’re secretly in some kind of relationship, which they’re totally not (besides that one time that totally doesn’t count). In spite of that, Dean thinks he’s got everything figured out, until an ill-fated on air game of Truth or Dare turns everything upside down (and the billboards around town aren’t helping either). (Friends to lovers story that’s very well summarized, so I have nothing to add except that it’s such a wonderful read, this author is absolutely amazing and you should definitely read it.)

The Beach House in the Winter - by englandwouldfall - Words: 23,715 - Summary: They're not exactly in a good place right now, so it was probably a bad idea to agree to a full Milton family reunion at their old summer haunt to mark a year since Cas' father died.Obviously, he did it anyway. (This is a second part of a series, I absolutely suggest reading all of the works ‘cause they’re equally wonderful, but I read this one first and individually and loved it the most so I’m suggesting it. Look at tag warnings. It’s about Dean having panic attacks mid sex due to trauma, Castiel trying to treat him right and handle the situation properly. They love each other so much ugh)

There are many things - by imogenbynight - Words: 28,807 - Summary: In which Dean and Castiel learn, through trial and error, how to be together. (What starts out as an angsty fic that follows Cas’s human experience after Dean kicked him out of the bunker, turns into a Destiel falling in love fic as they find their way back to one another)

Sometimes it fits - by ballsdeepinwinchesters - Words: 37,720 - Summary: Castiel is an over-worked, socially awkward neurosurgeon; Dean is the ruggedly handsome paramedic that asks him out for drinks. The rest kind of fell into place. (Two hotties with busy work schedules having lots of sex and being domestic. It’s a lot of fluff and smut. No angst.)

Put up your dukes - by saltyfeathers - Words: 38, 282 - Summary: Dean can't sleep. Cas offers to tire him out. (Dean struggling to accept the sexual tension relief Castiel is oh-so-eager to offer. So much tension, sparring goodness and bed sharing.)

All’s well that ends well - englandwouldfall - Words: 52,326 - Summary: Dean knew the second he took off that he shouldn't have left, but that didn't mean he could have guessed what he'd be coming back home to. (It’s actually a part 4 of the series, and I do suggest reading the entire series, but I read it first and individually before even realizing this and I absolutely loved it nonetheless. It’s about both Dean and Cas having made some poor choices in the past, abandonment and infidelity and two of them loving each other so much that they’re willing to forgive and fight for each other no matter what. Angsty and beautiful.)

A midterms night’s dream - by englandwouldfall - Words: 75,756 - Summary: There's at least fifteen good reasons why they're not sleeping together, it's just that Dean can’t remember them when Cas sends him one second dirty snapchats to goad him into doing the dishes. (One of my absolutely favorite fics and one of my top 3 fic authors (does a lot of series, which gets you really emotionally invested!). I suggest you read literally every single Destiel story written by this author, ‘cause it’s consistent in character portrayal and in invoking emotional response and I’ll probably explicitly write down at least one more story that I particularly liked from them. This one’s about them being college roomates who’re basically oblivious to sharing sentiment of wanting to be in relationship with the other, so they pine emotionally while having exceptional we-are-strictly-fuck-buddies sex)

Version 2.0 - by elizabeth1985 - Words: 75,937 - Summary: Life is nothing but a series of processes. We rise, we work, we function within the walls we’ve designed for ourselves. Dean Winchester does not deviate from this system. Heavily tattooed and a certified genius; Dean necessitates control. Relationships are a no-go. Too messy, unpredictable. And yeah, he knows having casual sex with his best friend, roommate, and business partner is a dumbass move. (Very Grey’s Anatomy-y, Dean is a thriving cardiosurgeon, Cas is his new surgical nurse assistant, there are so many well written characters, so much gossip, gratuitous sex and eventually a relationship. It’s so lovely, ugh I love this writer.)

A crash course in computer safety - by followthattardis - Words: 85,269 - Summary: On the day of his 29th birthday, Dean receives an email from his old nemesis: Michael Milton, the guy who got him kicked out of college and stole his girlfriend. The email contains encoded images with top secret CIA/NSA intelligence – and now their only copy is in Dean’s brain. Both agencies send their best operatives – Castiel Novak and Victor Henriksen respectively – to handle their accidental asset and protect the invaluable data in his head. To justify their sudden appearance in Dean’s life, they adopt covers: Victor as Dean’s new co-worker and neighbor, Cas as his new boyfriend. Needless to say, Dean’s brother and his girlfriend are thrilled to see him in a relationship they believe to be real. Clearly, there’s no way this could go wrong. (This is a NBC: Chuck AU and one of my top 3 fics ever. I haven’t watched Chuck at all and regardless of whether you have or not, I don’t wanna write anything else in this section ‘cause I enjoyed discovering every bit of information on my own. I’ve literally taken this fic and studied/analyzed it as a writer myself to take pointers on accurate character portrayal and writing style. (Dean is a heroic firefighter who ends up in stand-offish Castiel’s ER and flirts mercilessly with him, but to no avail. Cas is not made of stone, though, he’s just trying to protect his little heart ‘cause Dean does scary heroic things. It’s super emotional, go read it.)

Keeping you in sight - by gingerswag - Words: 136,374 - Summary: Castiel valued his solitude, and was happy to stay hidden away in the mountains for the rest of his life. But when his seeing eye dog dies, that solitude is suddenly broken when Gabriel shows up not with another dog but an actual human slave. Castiel doesn't believe in slavery, but he can't turn away the very hurt and broken man he's given. (This is a slavery fic, look up the tag warnings! It’s extremely angsty, it has a very human and rational ending which not might satisfy those looking for a conclusive, expressed fairytale ending for these two. It’s about Dean having gone through a lot of trauma and Cas being extremely lonely and two of them trying to mend each other while going through an excruciatingly painful healing process. I don’t think I can summarize it in a way that envelops everything that happens in this fic - it’s a tougher read but absolutely wonderfully written and very angsty)

Stay with me, sweetheart - by mandalarose - Words: 142,926 - Summary: A single moment's distraction ends with a serious car accident that leaves Castiel trapped in his vehicle. Fortunately for him, fire fighter Dean Winchester is there, never leaving Castiel's side as the rest of his company work to free him from the mangled remains of his SUV.When the two meet again in the ICU, Castiel finds himself just as drawn to and comforted by the handsome fireman as he was during his accident. Dean is certainly attractive, but single father Castiel doesn't have time or space in his life for a romantic relationship.Then again, there's no harm in making a new friend, is there? (Dean is so whipped, so is Cas but he tries really hard not to get invested ‘cause everyone leaves and it’s not a commodity he can afford now that he’s got a baby. Thankfully for him, Dean is all-in kind of guy who’s gonna make all the right choices, one after another, fighting to show Cas that he can have what he desires and deserves, even after multiple attempts of Cas’s to push him away. Love conquers all!)

Four Letter Word for Intercourse - by bendingsignpost - Words: 194,739 - Summary: As a grease monkey turned college freshman, Dean's constantly three seconds away from being stressed out of his mind. It hardly helps that he's finally figuring out his sexuality in his thirties.What might help with that stress is a little phone number (and a big credit card bill). If he can't figure out how to be bisexual in person, he can at least give it a go over the phone, right? (I think I probably read this story a hundred times. Fantastically written fic where Dean is a student discovering his sexuality through a phone sex line, struggling with having to take over family business and Cas is a professor with a sidejob, with whom Dean interacts wordlessly at the library. It tackles on mental health, on wonderful sex dynamics, coming out and lots of other stuff. It’s one of the best writen fics out there, along with the other works in this series that I highly suggest to read: A Little Anal - Words: 18,805 and What makes a man kneel - Words: 9,920)
