Another show! This time, not responsible for the costumes, just the car? (And the Baroness of Vulgaria, but that’ll be another post for another time.) #chittychittybangbang 🚗🚘 This inflatable raft brought me to tears more than once. I didn’t design it, that was the breathtakingly talented @1stage , who is an absolute genius when it comes to props and stage effects. The whole car was his work. I just followed his design, and it worked perfectly… when we tested it before every show. When it came to the middle of the performance, the infuriating thing would insist on getting snagged or twisted up or caught under the wheels, and we were tearing our hair out trying to figure out how to make it work smoothly. And we finally did! But not without a lot of ulcers along the way. 🚗🚘 I made the wings for the car too, and if I can find a good picture of them I’ll post it at some point. I still love how awesome this raft looks in the photos, even if it was an absolute bear IRL. 😅 It looked amazing on stage too, when it behaved itself! 🚗🚘 Our Chitty was rented out to a number of other productions around the country, too, and hopefully it worked smoothly for them! I think eventually it got too beat up and was retired. Barista, 100% weirded out: U-uh, are you all right?

listened to abba today and had flashbacks to when I was working on a production of Mamma Mia! And I listened to the soundtrack so often that I got weird amalgamations of abba songs stuck in my head. in my rain they made perfect sense but they weren’t real songs.

One thing that sucks about recovery during show week

You have literally no appetite all day right up until just before your call time and you become RAVENOUS.

Also - During a performance. If you're like me you try to find a window of free time to eat your mid/late afternoon snack because OH ECK, I SHOULD BE ON STAGE NOW OOPS.

Also, don't wear your mic when you pee.
