Hii, I'm glad you're back . Even if it was for a few days you really left a place in tumblr not just for your work but for your presence itself.
I had a question for a while and I'm sorry if you answered it before and I seemed to not notice , if that's the case then forgive my ignorance but I was wondering , since sebek seems to respect his grandfather alot and has inherited the hate for humans from him and it's a known fact in self-aware au that the faes 'love' the overseer alot I must say.. does that mean that sebek also inherited his 'love' for the overseer from his granpa? If so how did green grandpa see the overseer, what made him 'love' them and how does he show it .
If you don't want to write this then feel free to ignore it , hope you have a great day and don't forget to drink water and eat well<33
Hi there Anon. It's so sweet of you to say that. I didn't think I would have made such an impression on anyone. But I completely forgot to write about Sebeks grandfather -_-
Well, better late than never.

(Platonic!) Yandere headcanons
Ah yes, our local way too loud and loyal member of the reptilian family. No need to to worry about him. I mean, what could go wrong? (Hehe…)
Baul was not from the Valley of Thorns. Growing up in Sunset Savannah he did not grow up with the beliefs of the Faes (in other words, he was not part of a religious cult)
So imagine the huge shock he felt when he finally became a solider under the Draconia banner and started to become more and more like the other Faes
Well, for starters, yes, he wasn't indoctrinated into the whole church thing since birth but also wasn't raised to see you as an equal like the beastmen of the Savannah
You could say that he was a healthy mixture of both
Emphasis on the “was”
You see, isolation and being the only one sticking out (if we discount the humans invading the valley) does leave you open for a lot of things
If we count two (being the surroundings he was in) and two (his more or less unnoticed loneliness) together, we can see pretty fast where that led
Never mind his superior (and friend I mean come on they might as well be brothers) Lilia constantly rambling about the Overseer, savior of all, and how you accepted everyone in your kind embrace
Ok. Nice. Neat. Great. In the beginning, Baul wasn't very interested in joining any kind of religion
But the longer the war held on, the more he wished there was someone he could ask for help in his task of protecting those he deemed close to himself (you see the generational pattern?)
At some point, even the proudest of all can't hold on for forever
So he turned to you, the supposed God that was on so gentle
And goddamn that religious gaslighting and placebo effect worked damn well
Not only did he feel like there was someone there who supported him from somewhere in the universe (even though that was just him believing too much but let have him have some hope, ok?) but also he finally had a community
Whenever he would leave one of the many churches in the valley a Fae would approach, thanking him for protecting their home
Sooner than later did the former non-believer think of himself as your chosen shield of the valley
The war came and went away
If only the same thing could be said about Bauls new religious beliefs
And when he saw that grandson of his, cute little chubby hands that gripped a wooden toy sword tightly, he knew that his position as the valleys shield would not cease
Yes, even Baul would die one day. Fae or not, he was at the end of the day mortal
But that talent of his grandson would surely be of use to you, right?
If his younger self would see him like this, would it run away? Would it feel disgust at the thought that his future self would use his own grandson for selfish, religious reasons?
If only Baul knew that “God” didn't even know they were living beings that existed in a different world…

teru & socialization
i've posted about this before but something ive been thinking about a LOT is mp100's themes of loneliness (and eventual connections). i think this is an aspect of teru's character (in particular) that gets left out because it's not as explicit but i've been wanting to do a deep dive on it for a while and i finally sat down to do it. just a warning, this post is gonna be LONG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these two panels are from chapter 16 of the manga (which i'm using for my evidence because i. dont want to scrub through the anime LOL). initial sentiment: teru uses his powers to cheat having friends/a good social life and wouldn't have that if he tried earnestly. this is a fair interpretation of the scene. with what we know, at this point of time (as in within the teru-mob fight) teru would not be able to connect with other people earnestly, due to his mindset. which i think is a fair interpretation, HOWEVER:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(from chapter 17 ^^) the first panel shows teru's expression to be strained and the second is visibly unhappy. this puts the first set of panels into a different context, that maybe underneath all of this, teru doesn't WANT any of this life that he's built. keep in mind that i'm analyzing this with teru's possible autistic tendencies in mind & you dont have to believe he's autistic, im not your dad, but i do find this a pretty meaningful indication of masking if he were
(note: yes, the strain can definitely be read as comp-het, and i would agree but that's not relevant so go read this post on that instead)
even if the rest of these panels show teru content with his life, i think these expressions are pretty vital to how we read his life especially because we know so little of it. think about it, if you were a kid desperate for affection because you couldn't get it anywhere else, especially not in a way that would come off as "mature" or "unaffected", wouldn't you also look for validation in your popularity? even if it aligned you with people who you consider fundamentally different to you? my point here is that teru can't not stand out-- it's in his nature-- and we are shown how he tries to blend in & receive attention in the only way possible to him; which is to say that he molds himself into something that is palatable, likeable, and superior to other people. if he's nothing, like mob, he has spent his entire life covering up for it. if he fails socially, like mob, he has to be good at everything (even if he cheats to do so) so that everyone else can look past it.
Tumblr media
(side note for my teru angst enjoyers: this is a panel of his mom. the mom who he hasn't seen in years. doesn't it make sense that, if he hasn't heard his mom say he's proud of him for literal years, that he would overachieve in response? not related to the autism thing i just have the teru bug. also don't be misogynistic in my notes both his parents suck we just get a singular mention of his mom)
so if teru couldn't meaningfully have friends before mob, that could very easily be because of his past mindset, right?
...except, we don't.. really... see him make other friends afterwards.
but, the awakening lab, right?
Tumblr media
(ok i lied to you sorry there is one anime screenshot and thats because it stood out to me while i rewatched it earlier this month. sorry.) id like to bring attention to this screenshot during the cultural festival because the awakening lab can definitely be seen as a direct contradiction of this and i'd like to point out a couple things:
1) in this scene the shiratori brothers are in another room 2) them and the other three are friends with ritsu (or at least close enough acquaintances to want to see him).
considering this is one of the only times they appear together for Fun i am more inclined to believe this is an encounter where they went together because they all would've gone separately anyway. this isn't to discount the possible bond that these characters might have, but thats the thing. we... aren't really shown that they're friends and enjoy spending time together outside of this screenshot, where two out of six of the members are not even present. not to mention that teru is still placing himself in a role separate from his peers. despite stripping the superiority away, teru is still the awakening lab's mentor, not friend. teru still views himself as fundamentally different in a context where his psychic powers don't make him that way.
...except with mob. i bring this placement of power up because where he is the awakening lab's mentor, teru declares mob to be his rival, or, in other words, teru is just like him. he is accepting that mob and him are the same. (and if we view mob from an autistic lens... so on and so forth)
Tumblr media
as if to hammer in that point even further-- in the summer vacation omake, teru explicitly states that "summer break is just a super long, super boring stretch of alone time." i'm not sure of the timeline here, but guessing from the hair, we're at least post season 1. which gives us explicit confirmation here that teru is spending the break alone despite his relationship to the awakening lab. his connection to mob is a lifeline here because mob is one of the only people who can intuitively understand teru's isolation without judgment
(also, on that point of teru's autistic tendencies: teru does and says a LOT of things that would raise other peoples eyebrows and doesn't seem to notice.
here we get teru actively admitting to his home life, right in front of reigen, WHO COULD CALL CHILD SERVICES ON HIM? this genuinely made me rethink this character entirely. teru's filter is... minimal. he isn't constantly volunteering information and generally minds his own business, but if you ask? Well.
teru is a social person, but to say he is proficient in understanding social situations seems... wrong. teru views his loneliness as boring because, despite being fairly open, does not actually allow himself to think about his own feelings and how they affect him. this loneliness is boring because he doesn't have enough of a reference to realize its not
Tumblr media
if we are taking pre-mob teru to be a version of himself who is masking, or at the very least someone who is faking a lot of stuff in a less autistic sense, the fight with mob changes teru to the point where he no longer hides himself. in the same way that mob was able to shake teru's fragile superiority complex i think the change in appearance marks the end of the self teru had built up. from this point on we see him become a lot more... Him. his appearance and his fashion choices are, presumably, completely normal to him and we get no indication that he believes otherwise despite the reactions it gets-- which is... well, i wouldn't be writing this post if i thought it was one of his most neurotypical traits.
in fact, he seems... pretty oblivious to what other people think of him. which is an interesting distinction to make considering the intelligence we Know he possesses (which is not to say that you are unintelligent if you don't pick up on social cues, just that its common for media to depict it that way.) these traits are made pointedly, even if unintentionally, separate, ESPECIALLY when you note the amount of characters who Do ruminate on or stare at teru's appearance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
some examples. i don't even think this is all of it-- case in point.)

New chimera OC! Big ole lore filled info dump below!
This guy is an archmage, which in modern terms in this world is someone who is using pre-Godfall magic, so he's old as hell. And he does go by he, not that he is really 'male' but since fleeing Mirum his house has taken up residency in a predominately human kingdom, so his pronouns are moreso born from trying to acclimate. Not that he went any farther than that. Beach Vacation, or just Vaycay for short, is an ETREMELY skilled caster as the name would suggest. His name by the way is three days long, so it is a little disorienting to be introduced to him, but chimeric names fade quickly once they're 'heard', like a dream! That being said Vaycay's main goal in life is the betterment of his family. He was a high ranking caster in pre-revolt Mirum so they have taken up the position as the head of one of the larger remaining Chimeric houses. He holds a very high place in the court of their current housing Kingdom, who relies on him as their head Archmage. He is a chimera of the mindset of preserving their people to as close as they were before the exodus from Mirum in the hope of one day reclaiming the continent. Formerly he was staunchly against pacts with outside sources to attain magic, but in modern settings a recent Godly war has killed off a lot of the Archmages that were left. With their numbers only ever in decline he has reluctantly made the decision to pact the children of his house with a grove. The location of which is kept close to the chest. Regardless of that he still finds deformation of the Chimeric form to be distasteful, even if he and his family have partaken in it slightly themselves. He has particular disdain for those who attempt to mimic other species. His modifications mainly focus around expanding the volume of his mana chamber, leading to his disc shaped faceplate and a high tier casting ability. While most chimera can only project their thoughts and emotions, he can also forcefully intercept the minds of others to 'read their mind' if you will. He is also apt at spell cancellation, quite adept at canceling out other magics with ease. Though he is incapable of doing so towards divine magics. His main value through all is as a battle mage, he is a wiz at suffocation spells and casting redirection. There is hardly a battle he participated in that he didn't win. Thus whatever Kingdom he inhabits is typically left well enough alone.
All in all, a chimera defined by his achievements and earned sense of 'I'm better than everyone'. He is both beloved and feared by those below him, no one is his equal within his house. Mostly cause he still hasn't gotten over the loss of his partner, but nowadays it has morphed more into a sense of superiority. Basically, great to fight alongside, but would be a nightmare to have dinner with. He WILL be rude and condescending to the wait staff.

I'm kinda curious about your view on vil and your thoughts on the trauma he possibly or could have inflicted on Yuu during book 5.
I have this headcannon inspired by this one shot by uniquethingtastemaker
https://www.tumblr.com/uniquethingtastemaker/720073081338626048/neige-x-reader-white-beaches-and-a-spring-morning?source=share
The headcannon: Basically Yuu (who is female for this) hides the fact that she's a girl for safety reasons (I mean not only is Yuu magic less in another world, she's also in a all boy school. Yeah that doesn't scream good idea). The only who knows are the teachers, Crowley, Grim and later Ace and Deuce when she's comfortable enough to tell them. At some point before book 5, Yuu is allowed a small vacation out of NRC for the crap she had to deal with jamil in the previous book; during her vacation goes out as herself and runs into neige. They become friends and stay in touch with one another. Yuu made Neige promise not to say anything about her actually gender as a few know in NRC.
*Also have a headcannon where Yuu is a school idol like love live and secretly helps Neige and the dwarfs write a song and dance that works for them for VDC. Yuu and Neige were already writing a song together just for fun since Yuu missed being a school idol and hasn't written a song since coming to twisted wonderland 😅
Plus it's something she has a choice in and would fun doing with a friend. During book 5, Crowley literally forced Yuu's hand by threatening their plumbing and Vil just dub them the manager without asking if it was okay with them. There's also how forceful he was being. . . .
There's no rule that has she can't and she's not even in the group.
Sorry for rambling 😅
So I've written about my thoughts on Vil before and honestly he's kind of one of my - if not my most - least favourite character(s).
I've cut this up for length:
I know that he has a lot of trauma and that he's a character that lots of people can mischaracterize and hate irrationally but he just rubs me the wrong way - and I'm saying this as a former gifted child and as someone who has witnessed people go through burn out both in Primary and Secondary school. I feel sorry for him and I understand that the pressure of perfection can be an incredible burden to bear but the way he treats others is just so grating that I can't say I like him that much.
Honestly, Book 5 is my least favourite book (then it's 3 then 4) and I have so much to say for everything; the blackmail, Vil's behaviour, Vil cursing our food without telling us, having to share a dorm with Jamil when he used Yuu and endangered them for his own gain (and then Kalim for sweeping it under the rug), Vil almost making Deuce cry, the Neige hate, Vil facing absolutely no consequences for trying to murder someone and then nearly killing everyone and destroying a building.
Yes, I agree that Epel has a mindset of toxic masculinity and yes, it should be addressed and challenged. But Vil's military dictator training and forcing him to do things that he hates (and even making him hide his accent - something that connects him to the home and family he loves) is not how you do it. I don't despise feminine things like he does, but even I would hate to live up to Vil's standards every single day (especially when Vil degrades far more times than he praises).
Something I really really hate about the twst fandom is how lots of people put down Neige or make him the butt of a joke just to make Vil better. I've seen so many jokes or fanfics or imagines where Neige gets rejected or laughed at or treated terribly just so that Vil can be seen as superior and as someone who actually really likes Neige and has Snow White as their favourite princess ever since they were in reception, I just can't stand the Neige hate. Especially when he was almost a victim of a poisoning plot - as in Vil literally tried to kill him for absolutely no reason at all (before he then tried to kill us for 'seeing an ugly side of him' which we are supposed to forgive because of course we are)
I really loved that Neige story and I actually do headcanon that Neige and Yuu are really close friends and they text each other 24/7 (and also with Prince Rielle). I did make a #JusticeForYuu post where I said that I wanted Yuu to just send the entirety of NRC (minus Ace and Deuce) to coventry and not give them the time of day so I thought it would be just delicious if Neige is the one that helps Yuu with all things fashion related since he's just as famous (if not more so) than Vil with his own line of clothing and make up and would have access to things they would need.
And I think you somehow managed to read my mind because I have this Yuu that's a theatre kid (this is not relevant at all but this fem!Yuu was also Christine Daaé in her theatre's performance of Phantom of the Opera) with the voice of an angel that's best friends with Neige and the two of them totally duet together - I did kind of toy with the idea of Neige hyping her up to sing something for VDC as a closing performance and her blowing everyone away but I digress...
You know what? I am actually against the headcanon that RSA is filled with snooty, condescending, stuck up rich kids with a holier-than-thou attitude - I'm under the firm belief that the RSA students are actual sweethearts who are kind and caring and aren't the type of people who would inflict trauma on an innocent magicless teenager. The only reason why I don't want Yuu to transfer to RSA is because they'd have to leave Ace and Deuce behind (as well as the Ramshackle ghosts) and those boys are literally everything to me so I like to think that Yuu likes to go to RSA like once a week or something to spend time with people who don't try to manipulate or mistreat them.
I do have a lot more things to say but my brain has gone to mush and I can't think of anything so here

I want to dedicate a love post to Enrico Pucci because I just love him so much and my brain will never be the same again
I love that he's complex and flawed and driven by his grief and the depth of his love. I love how unacceptable his destiny is and he will do anything to open everyone's eyes to the absence of power they have in the story's world. It is impossible for him to exist in his world where he was created only to serve the purpose of giving the Joestars something to oppose and grow from, and the remedy he has found to this is to simply take control of the story, end everything and start again with the knowledge he has acquired, and maybe, the hope to free himself from his sins and bring back his loved ones.
I admire his will and determination to strive for greatness, self-growth and to see things to their end more than anything, staying calm and not backing away, seizing every opportunity. He also learns from everyone around him, from their battle tactics, from their relationships. He's a very smart and analytical character even though he's also stubborn and throws fits from time to time, which show his humanity, which is necessary since he's so superior without those flawed moments. I like his loneliness, the way he has a way to talk to and taunt people that's very unique to him, and directed at himself, he doesn't care if you don't understand, he doesn't care if he's celebrating his victories alone, he'll do it anyway. He's fun and quirky to look at, when he interacts with people, he's fun to anger, and it's satisfying to see him getting in dire situations (especially if he gets up from them)
He's evil and flawed and is a ruthless, one-track minded man, he's self-centered and can't accept (understand?) that people have different mindsets than himself. He knows he's right from start to finish, and that makes him such a great character with incredible confidence and charisma. He's the most terrifying character in all of JJBA, arguably the most powerful, his ability is just pure chaos and his eyes are cold as hell. He's got a strong inclination for revenge and likes to carry it in style, even if it means taking some damage in the process. I also like how ambiguous he is with some other characters, taking advantage of the fact they are drawn to him, using his appeal as a means to obtain what he wants. His dynamic with Dio brings a lot of depth to Dio's character, giving him the almost 'humanity' he severely lacks in other parts (especially SDC), it's very enjoyable to watch the way they interact together, which is so different from how we see them act with other people. The whole idea of the bone, fusing, and MIH is aesthetically really interesting and I liked trying to notice moments where the Dio influence might have taken over Pucci's decisions.
The themes surrounding him are very referenced and fascinating, religion, art, biology, physics and space, technology, philosophy, the stand lore... The details and references that come give depth to his character are limitless, did you know there's an actual italian scientist on gravity whose name was Enrico Pucci? That the adulterous priest he reads about in church is a famous painter who regretted taking his oath at 15 and had ties to the real Pucci family in Italy? He's also a very well constructed character in terms of psychology, he's never OOC, he feels very 3D in a 2D world.
Also he's awesome black representation in terms of character design with references to fashion (Versace '97), probably Michael Jackson too, the flag of the city of Florence, the emblem of the Pucci family... His character design is holy with just a touch of sinful, and I'm not even talking about how cool Whitesnake is in general. I really like how Pucci/Whitesnake oppose both Weather/Weather Report but also Jonathan in terms of design. He's the most beautiful character I've ever seen overall, wears a beautiful tight and shiny gown, beautiful both in color and in black and white, first has a fun, pretty but manly design, which turns into a cute star-shaped motif shamelessly stolen from the Joestars, he has tired downturned eyes filled with depression, and the cutest nose in all of JJBA, he's tall and handsome with the big chest and shoulders especially in anime but also cute and feminine and has thin wrists and those cute sleeves... He's giving mom and dad at the same time and I love how curious he is with the green baby and how proud and happy he is with C-Moon and MIH and YES HES MY FAVE ANYWAYS
I didn't even get into how interesting he represents the relationship between faith, philosophy and science, or his relationship to the concept of blood ties, I could go on for hours but I'm late for class

What is the point of the Horde? Part 1
Ok. So, why does She Ra and the Princesses of Power begin in the horde? Why go through all the trouble if in the second episode, Adora switches sides? What is the point?
Obviously, the in-universe answer is "Adora was raised in the horde, so she starts the story in the horde" and that's a perfectly fine reason. But I'd like to delve into the thematic significance of that choice. What does Adora's connection to the horde do to the story?
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
I'm going to start by establishing some themes, so if you disagree with my takeaway, here is where it went wrong. In my understanding, She-Ra is about family, morality, freedom, and trauma.
So, what does the horde represent?
The horde is a dysfunctional family unit. The mother figure is manipulative, the father is distant and uncaring, and the children are used as weapons. Even if you don't read this as a family unit, this isn't the healthiest of dynamics in any situation.
Tumblr media
In Shadowweaver's first scene, we get this shot, which is a fantastic visual metaphor for Shadowweaver's influence, the shadows claw at Catra's face, covering one eye and distorting her vision as a result. Interestingly, the shadows don't directly touch Adora, but the general dimness that Shadowweaver gives off does, and her expression makes it clear that Shadowweaver's influence does have consequences on her as well by proxy.
This is a neat representation of the rest of the series. My reading of this story was as an escape from abuse story. Adora gets away physically, but Shadowweaver follows her, while Catra can't leave.
Tumblr media
"She's just bitter that she doesn't have any real power that doesn't have any real power that doesn't come from Hoardack, and everyone knows it."
The above quote is from Catra talking about Shadowweaver and I'd like to take it apart.
Niccolò Machiavelli is the namesake for the word Machiavellian in reference to a manipulator or schemer. A lot of people cast him as a historical villainous character, and while that isn't entirely true, the reason for this word is primarily a book called The Prince. In it, he poses the idea that "It is much safer for the prince to be feared than loved, though he should avoid making himself hated." Shadowweaver embodies this mindset.
Catra is wrong here. Shadowweaver does have power, and its being demonstrated right here in this single shot. Shadowweaver has the same power that certain people in real life have, she can control people. In this case, she can turn best friends against each other with barely a thought.
Shadowweaver has cultivated fear in her children, but she has taken care to not distance herself from Adora too far. She considers one of her children superior and diverts all of her affection into that child while shunning and demeaning the other to no end.
Interestingly, Shadowweaver's approach to love is also toxic. When Adora questions her judgement even slightly, Shadowweaver's immediate response is two things. I took you in and you want this. This is emotionally manipulative, she's making Adora feel guilty for wanting her friend to be recognised, and she's telling Adora what she wants, imposing her own will and ambition onto her.
Tumblr media
Here's the kicker, The Prince was a satire. It was a callout to the leadership of the time that their actions were unjust and unkind. It was a statement that this method of leadership, while effective to this point, was doomed to fall.
Tumblr media
So, why does She-Ra begin in the horde?
I think it's to show the trauma more acutely. It's to show the effect that Shadowweaver has on Adora and Catra and to explain, thematically, what this story is about. This isn't just a story about good and evil, but freedom, and love, and the story is going out of its way to show what the characters are running from. To show what, despite their best efforts, the characters cannot escape from, and will not escape from, until the final episode.
Part 2 is going to discuss episode 2 in detail and why Catra can't leave. It'll be an interesting discussion, I hope.

Hey solargang!!!! I have a bit of a checklist for myself to cope and seethe(it's going downhill from that episode) no way solarballs will be able to go back to it's light-hearted tone, so no matter the outcome of what happens, It'll be fine!!! I can't wait for the next episode
• Earth's social/personal dilemma→ he apologizes, and the rest of the inner planets HAVE to forgive him (basically EVERYTHING about earth is settled and he is doing alright) ✓ YES
• Mars and Earth learn to respect Venus's boundaries
• Earth apologizes to Venus (for that friendship)
• Mars and Venus become besties (very important) [✓ kind of??]
• Earth and Mars talk it out (just let them talk again) [Yo Mars may or may not be dead] [HE ISN'T] ✓✓✓✓✓
• Venus learns to be chill around Mercury(impossible) [ALMOST AAAAUHH]✓ probably?
• the moon revolution comes to a stop(please please please please plea [Omg Ganymede you've put me on edge what the shit]
• all the moons (except Moon) apologize to earth) and (Earth) apologizes to titan [no way in hell this is happening, for a good reason too]
• titan finds out the moon is alive and they talk things out between themselves(probably a minor scene but I hope eventually moon and titan meet each other again or I'll cry) [WE GOT CLIFFHANGERED HERE BOYS 😕😕] [we never got a resolve between them sigh 😔]
• the gas giants learn the names of ALL their moons carefully
• Pluto solves his internal crisis and accepts himself for what he is and finally becomes apart of the dwarf team both physically AND emotionally (he also drops the superiority mindset of the planets) [✓!!!!!]
• the dwarf planets finish their game (with Pluto!!??)[✓ YAY!!]
• Jupiter & Saturn............ .︵. NOOOO they're severing the relationship by making the implications deeper and darker as the episodes progress. We are not doing well jupiturn nation.
•everyone apologizes to each other (phenomenal ending) [eugh maybe :( ]
Angst is COOL but I'm SENSITIVE so instead of it being a SICK ASS concept it's SCARY instead

I've realised something recently about possibly why I'd rather believe other people can change for the better. It helps me believe that for myself as well. My moral OCD (or at least I hope it is) constantly tells me that I'm one tiny slip up away from becoming a complete monster. Sometimes I'll see a post about how people who do a thing I don't even do are all fascists and should die. More fuel for my brain to do mental gymnastics and land at "maybe I am a fascist and should die". Maybe those posts reach actual people and changed their minds? I don't know. Some of the posts had genuinely good educational stuff in them too, if the last paragraph hadn't ruined what I remember of the post. I know this is mostly a problem with me, but believing that you can get better from bad beliefs helps. The last thing I want to do is hurt people, but I can't be the bastion of moral purity my brain insists I have to be. But if other people can get out of a pipeline and change their minds, then if my anxiety is ever proven right there's still hope for me. A mistake or misconception I held maybe doesn't make me completely terrible as long as I learn from it and keep trying.
Honestly, this is exactly why I don't consider posting to be activism - especially not on its own.
Posts that hinge on that sort of rhetoric help absolutely no one for exactly the reasons you're describing - ultimately they're motivated by moral superiority, not genuine information sharing or a desire to help others better themselves and the world around them.
To believe others can grow to aid yourself in your own resolve to grow is genuinely a really good mindset to have surrounding yourself and the way you engage with the world though.
You do have the capacity to grow, and learn, and change, and so does everyone else. Following through on that capacity is absolutely a deliberate choice and it takes a lot of effort and desire to do so, but the capacity is there in everyone and always will be.
And you will probably fuck up at some points! I know I have. Pretty much everyone does because learning is not a one and done deal and we live in an extremely biased culture. Learning is constant and people are fallible and our knowledge is both limited and ever expanding. But if you are able to accept fuck ups or mistakes with grace and treat them as the learning experiences they are you will genuinely be just fine.

Me with Canon Wu: You let your brother go get your stuff for you and look what happened. You made a 'friend' of a Serpentine and taught her something you shouldn't have and looked what happen ! You filled a young child's mind up with dreams and broke them down and look what happened !! And even now with the Ninja, you don't tell them a single warning before they go into battle and LOOK WHAT'S STILL HAPPENING !! And after all of that, I find myself-!! Me with Your Wu:...still coming back here even though I shouldn't because you really need help with your issues and everyone makes mistakes and your superior- Nah, nah, I'm kidding but in all seriousness, your version is kind of what I want to believe for the character now. I don't hate on the original Wu since you can't beat the original but you also can't beat the fanon ! So with lots of love, enjoy making more content for him !
This has been sitting in my asks because I completely forgot about it- so ill use this as a headcanon dump, thankyou >:) You throw out alot of points here on the segment for canon wu, so let me throw in things ive held onto in hc to all of it PLEASE NOTE MOST IF NOT ALL OF THESE IS HC ALONE/TIMELINE SPECULATION "You let your brother go get your stuff for you and look what happened." This happened AFTER the meet with aspheera I believe, after it happened the two were forbidden to go outside monastery walls without permission, completely isolating them from the outside world in hopes nothing like that would happen again. Wu at this point was incredibly afraid to disobey his father because if their punishment from last time was isolation from a world outside their monastery, what more could happen to them? [it only got worse from there, but we arent talking about that yet.] "You made a 'friend' of a Serpentine and taught her something you shouldn't have and looked what happen !" Wu genuinely just wanted to be friends with someone, being the sons of god the fsm was rather picky on who exactly got to see the two. And he's never made proper connections until now, through out the entirety of their childhood [before teens] im pretty sure all wu knew as companionship was his brother, and when he found someone willing to help them, he didnt want to think about the warnings for the chance that she might actually be good, and that keeping a promise was the way to gain a friend " You filled a young child's mind up with dreams and broke them down and look what happened !! " If were talking about morro here, ANOTHER HC TIME to fuel my delulu state, look- He didnt WANT him to fight garmadon, hear me out here- if you go back to the scene of morro being tested to be the green ninja, the sword of fire ISNT the sword of fire. My hc here is this is the ONE time he's tried to change destiny for the better. It doesnt mean morro was destined, no, this was going to happen either way, but he tried changing destiny because this wasnt morro's fight, and he was afraid of what may need to come if it DID end up being him that was destined. He didnt want that. But when he did do it and got his own student killed [he tried finding him. he tried getting him back, he didnt want to come back.] He gave up. And this is where his mindset solidified, he couldnt change destiny, people will die, and itll be his fault. This was his fathers punishment for him. " And even now with the Ninja, you don't tell them a single warning before they go into battle and LOOK WHAT'S STILL HAPPENING !! " This one is funny to me cause, one, wu doesnt know how to fucking trauma dump I dont think he would even be able to think about it unless someone asks him, its actually the 'it never came up' thing. BUT, he wouldnt want to say much too quickly due to Morro's incident. Hell he didnt even want the ninja to see the green ninja scroll. If he had said too much too quickly, well theyll either turn evil or die..or both-
" .still coming back here even though I shouldn't because you really need help with your issues and everyone makes mistakes and your superior- " Hehe, thank you!!! I hope you enjoy the buncha headcanons i have here for you

The reason I rile people up here is because I'll make a joke, any joke at all, and then I'll have 52 contrarians who say "well actually-"
And they'll then proceed to explain how any and all humor is in fact offensive to the specific minority of human beings who, for example, do not like waffles and toast and thus cannot relate to the joys of breakfast, and I should be ashamed for invoking colonialist mindsets of waffles and toast as the superior breakfast.
And it's like...the best thing to do is ignore them and I mostly do, but on off days, I have to scoff at some people.
I don't even make my edgiest jokes here.
It'd be one thing if I expressed my more offensive humor here, but I'm pretty tame on Tumblr compared to what's going on in my head.
But it doesn't matter because here, everyone has some "well actually" statement in their back pocket about pretty much every conceivable subject.
You just have to ignore people.

what's your theory on why there's so much fucking drama in a fandom of plus minus 50 people? mine is that several of these accounts are just hamilton sockpuppet-blogging from hell and forgetting that he's actually the account he's arguing against
Honestly I came from the LOTR fandom, which back in the day, it was an incredible cesspool of moral superiority and pseudo intellectualism. Like, "oh, you don't know that gothmog was born in the year of the third age 6969? Well you're not a *real* fan!" We get that some here between musical fans and rpf fans, but the level of shit-slinging is really not comparable at all. We're a relatively peaceful fandom. Yes there's drama, but very rarely do I see people directly @ing blogs they don't like and fighting on main.
Where AmRev is concerned there's that ego element of "I'm doing serious historical work by playing with my barbie dolls" that other fandoms don't have. I understand fandom spaces are denigrated by society, so it's sort of a defense against shame to say "I'm not doing gross fandom stuff like those gross fandom people! I'm a real historian!" And I get why people are like that, cause it's really painful when your fandom interests are treated as inherently invaluable or not important. But by trying to differentiate in that way you're just reinforcing the very thing you're trying to escape and shitting on everyone in the process.
Then I see people who just...are personally offended when you have a different interpretation of a historical character than they do, as if it's not okay to prioritize different things or look at evidence differently. And of course there's an element of hero worship that a lot of people here have for those figures, instead of recognizing that they're just as much clown as the rest of us, and it certainly doesn't help that America tries it's hardest to make these regular dudes into God-like mythical figures.
This blog here memes a lot about Aaron Burr, but he was p shitty to his wife when she was sick, in period typical fashion (basically "you're sick because you have a bad mindset!" Aaron bby stfu you're not a doctor.) People are always going to be deeply flawed. And these figures don't need you to defend them when it comes to shit they *actually* did wrong. You aren't going to meet them one day to get their gold star of approval for defending them enough times on the internet. When they did something fucked up, you can acknowledge it and just move on, if you want. But acting like everybody has to come play Barbie doll with you in exactly the way you want...that's schoolyard bully behavior.
And I want to be clear, it's totally fine to just play with these guys like barbie dolls! If you want to write cinnamon roll Washington fic, there's nothing wrong with that at all! I go back and forth between writing cinnamon roll stuff and history compliant stuff (and egrigous porn). And I don't think one is inherently more valuable than the other. The issue is when you try to tell others that they need to play with a specific barbie doll in *your* way, or that what they're doing is inherently invaluable.
Everyone can just...play in their sandbox. And if someone doesn't like a character you like? That's okay! They're allowed to not like them, just like you're allowed to ignore them.

I don't see appeal in making Eggman's solitude a sad thing. I see no reason to give him a secret desire for a friend or a relationship. I really like how he chooses to live far away from all other life and I don't imagine it to be only out of necessity of not being caught. We've certainly never seen him express any discomfort or loneliness in it. (I'm talking about game Eggman specifically)
Despite his desire for attention, it makes sense that he's happy with having distance from people and does so by choice. He thinks himself as superior to everyone and a god doesn't live amongst his people, he's to be untouchable and far above everyone. Plus he's very arrogant and short tempered and this has been seen to worsen in company of others as he's aggravated easily.
I can see him believing there's no point in keeping inferior living beings around when he can build better in his own superior image. And that just living with someone wouldn't satisfy him because he wants attention on a mass global scale and have all the power and control, just a bit isn't enough. And that they're not worthy of his personal presence, he wants to be far above them.
I like how he's a lone wolf who seems to prefer living alone far away from the world, with only his own creations to interact with and mostly in a professional way with him as their boss and then as his servants/assistants/workers/weapons instead of companionship. Even Sage works for him instead of being like an actual toddler playing with toys all day.
The way no living being has ever lived with him in the games makes sense. It's as if he's only interested in being around anyone else if they're made by his own design. Because then they can only ever be what he wants and programs them to be- to do as he says and be useful to him. But if not then he discards them or severely punishes them and restricts their programming even harder.
Especially when comparing that to how he always cuts ties with and/or betrays every living being he teams up with if he isn't betrayed first, even if they didn't do him wrong. (Knuckles and Infinite for example.) Every partnership is temporary and he only sees them as a means to an end, he genuinely doesn't want to keep them around. It's fascinating and fits his narcissistic egotistical mindset well.
It's all about power and control to him. As if now he doesn't have everyone in the world under his control because they all have freedom, free will, and their own thoughts, feelings, and desires. He can manipulate them but he has to know when it's reached its limit and cut them off once the dirty work is done before they can realize and ruin it. They're just tools to dispose of when the job is done.
He can't keep permanent control over living beings until the world is all his but in the meantime, the best way to get his fix is with his own creations. They don't have freedom and free will, exist solely to serve and worship him, and always have to do as he says and be useful to him. And one day he hopes to have that power over living beings too when the entire world is under his control.
It just makes sense. That's why I like how he lives on his own aside from his own creations. And even then he's constantly irritated by them too but they're easier to put in their place as it's the purpose of their entire existence from the start. You can't just switch off and reprogram people like that and they're inferior to his own creations anyway. Far more appeal all around.
He gets to play god with his creations that are built in his image and they're reflections of his genius, so they can only ever do what he wants and he can take pride in them. He dreams of being able to do that with everyone in the world someday but even when that day comes, I still can't see him swapping out superior creations for inferior living beings that unworthy of his presence.
I accept, embrace, and am fascinated by his narcissism and ego and how that affects his personality, behavior, goals, interactions, etc. It's fun to analyze in canon and explore in my own stuff! His heart has no room for anyone but himself and his personal private space has no room for anyone that wasn't created in his image to serve him. It says a lot about him and his mindset.

Trey: *Trying to explain Riddle is that way because of his mom*
Me: Give me a minute as I pull up my ‘Trauma Doesn’t Excuse Sh*t Behavior’ PowerPoint.
Say it with me, everyone: an explanation is not an excuse 😊
You know, the other day I was watching one of Ryan George's Pitch Meetings and when Producer Guy asked Writer Guy how the audience would root for the villain of the franchise and the response was "he's handsome" which basically explains most people's reactions to fictional men.
Prepare for incoming rant that has little to do with the ask
This probably might come as a shock because one of the main appeal of twst would be the whole villainous aspect/Disney Villain fanbase but I don't really like villains that much, at least, not romantically. Like don't get me wrong, I think that they're incredible characters and it would be so fun to sit down with one and have a conversation with one. Villain songs are so fun (I was literally singing ‘This Day Aria’ to myself the other day I haven’t heard that song in like a decade) and you can tell that that characters like Scar or Hades or Shere Khan or Jafar or Maleficent are having so much fun being deliciously evil and even the more serious, complex ones like Loki or Frollo are fun to pick apart so yeah I understand the hype. I just always rooted for the heroes and I guess heroic characters have always been more my type.
My mother absolutely loves Erik Destler and is forever salty that Christine chose Raoul (despite my many many attempts at arguing why Raoulstine is the superior couple - smol primary school me could not understand why my mum liked the chandelier dropper and was deeply concerned), my best friend has been in love with Heathcliffe since we were eleven, and my little sister has literally told me that her type of fictional men are the toxic red flags (not exactly word for word but she did explain why she likes bad boys over good boys when I was complaining about how my type (wholesome soft boys) always get sidelined for the arrogant, snarky bad boys - we're also very diametrically opposed on our views of friends to lovers (my s++ tier all time favourite and her loathing) vs enemies to lovers (I can't really stand it - Pride and Prejudice is the only exception - and that's literally all she consumes) so that might also be a reason).
Like, I understand the appeal of a Byronic hero (Mr Darcy has far too much power) - a closed off, broody man that hates everything but you? And will burn down the world to keep you warm? I can respect that there are people who dig that. But their not really for me.
The mild bout of insanity thirteen year old me had where I spent two months attracted to Edward Rochester is an outlier and should not have been counted (though that was during my wattpad phase so...)
But I can admit that I have yet to shake off my feelings for Dr Henry Jekyll, Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray (though to be fair, Mr Gabriel John Utterson the lawyer and cinnamon roll artist boy Basil Hallward do own my heart). And yes, Jeremy Jordan did make me question my morality as he did make my feelings for Light Yagami be too positive to be sane for a brief moment (Touta Matsuda is still my man, don't worry). But apart from them, literally all of my faves are what you'd call your traditional, morally upright heroes.
Basically what I'm saying is that my perception might be skewed because I've never had the whole 'villains are cooler' mindset when it came to stories. Yes, I love the villains as characters but I always liked their heroic foils more (goodness is just so attractive to me). You get lots of amazing heroic protagonists that have horribly tragic backstories and they're the ones I always fall for because the idea of being a kind sweetheart despite the world being anything but is just *chef's kiss* that's a kind of strength that's so swoon-worthy.
I guess that's why it's harder for me to look past the characters' actions in twst is because, well, they chose to do everything they did. They made a conscious choice to be terrible, despite understanding the consequences. Riddle may have been brainwashed into becoming a tyrant by his mother but he still admitted that he knew he was being horrible - he understands the concept of morality, of good and bad, and he willingly and deliberately did everything he did.
I suppose this text post I found on Pinterest would explain my point better:
