Art © MissRosieWolf, Aug. 2020
Twitter is uh...not having a good time. So I'm slowly uploading art from my Twitter and onto this here tumblr account of mine.
It is, indeed, another Dungeons & Dragon / Magic the Gathering character of mine: Eliana, a Hexblade Warlock I played in the Theros campaign setting (it was kind of a follow-up to our short-lived Ravnica campaign). We only had like...four sessions of Theros before the DM pulled the plug.
I'll redesign my bean and use her in my own D&D things since I don't see myself bringing her back to play with as a Player.

Have you read the Dnd Theros book, and if so, is there anything or anyone from it you would want to include in the next theros set?
Also, jumping a bit off of the Avacyn in theros post you made a bit back, what characters do you think they could reasonably bring back from the dead (like from the accessible afterlives in places such a Theros, Ravnica, Innistrahd) in some form without getting the feeling of comic-book-characters-never-really-die
I haven't read any of the DnD books fully. Mostly the Strixhaven one because of a campaign that didnt work out in the end :(
Honestly, I don't think there are any good options to bring back besides Avacyn. The thing about most other options that they wouldn't have such devotion to them as she did at her peak. Also she is the most traditionally "godlike" within the molds of Theros (as in, a being who is directly in touch with the prayers of her followers)

Decided to turn a favorite oc of mine into a fanwalker!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isabel Itsari, Herald of Madness
Isabel is an old oc/the current bbeg of my dnd campaign, and I decided to turn her into a fanwalker when I realized I had recreated the cult of Marit Lage in my campaign by accident.
As a walker, she’s a dimir aligned pirate from Ixalan, who became a worshipper of Marit Lage when her first attempt at a planeswalk (due to the Immortal Sun, it was short lived) brought her face to face with the god in the Blind Eternities. She’s dressed Theros inspired clothing, which is closer to the current setting of my campaign, although it’s not a lot because I want to show off her magical tattoos.

Crit Role Miniature Rollout: C3E53 Ripples
With Andrew Harshman
An analysis of the minis used on CR.
Tumblr media
Love a throne room battle! So much cool stuff in a throne room. Loads of precious, delicate, treasures and neato decorations! (I've heard of a "bull in a china shop", -BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Such is life in the throne zone, it's time for Crit Role Miniature Rollout Campaign 3 Episode 53!
Tumblr media
Sweet map! The urban stone road mat is from Mats by Mars and the dungeon tiles are Dwarven Forge, but specifically, the Emperor's Palace Marble Pack. Which is sort of a reskin of the Dungeons of Doom set.
Tumblr media
The marble effect I'd say is quite good. Very readable, very distinct, very nifty. Also, sprinkled into this scene is a Mantic Games carpet, a Pathfinder Battles Crimson Throne throne, and one mystery throne.
Tumblr media
I just loooooove this Emissary of Purphoros model! The sculpt itself is very nice. And the literal-glitter-infused translucent starry void plastic/paint combo is OUTSTANDING! Five outta five stars. Also impressive, this model is a rather faithful recreation of the original Magic the Gathering Theros art by Sam Burley:
Tumblr media
Coincidentally, Sam Burley would make for an excellent minotaur D&D character name!
See ya next sesh!

I was actually wondering how to implement dunamancy and the related subclasses from Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount into other campaign settings, since it seems like the school of dunamancy is such a specific element to the world of Exandria?
Matt actually went really in detail with the fact that dunamancy draws a lot from quantum physics, and if you'll notice a lot of the spells are themed after possibility, gravity, time and more generally the void of space. You could port them into nearly any setting using these themes, especially if you have gods that resonate with those themes and it's also a real fun fit for spelljammer
Personally I had a lot of fun in a Theros campaign as a twilight cleric/divination wizard in service of Kruphix, god of the infinite horizon, playing with concepts like Xeno's paradox and using dunamancy to fuck with physics.

DND Campaign: L.A. Numinous
The Pantheons of the World are not as fantastical or mythical as you might think. They are around us, always hiding in plain sight. They hide from the Mortal Realm, having forgone most of their earthly attachments after the Great War, the World War, the Last War that they would put themselves through.
They hid their World, their mythologies, their fantasies from the Mortal Realm, between the cracks of what can and can't be seen. There in the unperceived, the lives of fantastical creatures, of ogres and fairies, of kitsune and deities, they continue to survive.
It's 2028, just 6 months before the Summer Olympic Games starts anew in the City of Angels, Los Angeles. You scroll through your X feed, look at the current trending topics: Articles about Whales and Dolphins taking over the sea; The Olympic Flame being ignited in Greece; And the death of an Instagram Model with no leads. It's almost banal and boring as you flick through tweets.
Perhaps, just at the corner of your eye, you see a little miracle, a trick of the light or a creep of a shadow. But something/someone tumbles over you, a friend, a loved one, a mentor you've known for some months, weeks, or maybe only a few days. They're blood soaked and their eyes are pleading, worrying, and saddened, as they look at you, clutching at wounds that only look seconds old.
"Aphrodite is dead. This was not how I meant for this to happen but I'm sorry but I must pass my Eidolon to you before it's too late."
Light flashes before you could even ask. You find yourself engulfed with it, bathed in it and then... nothing.
Now there's a dead body in your hands and an ominous feeling in your chest. Your phone beeps and rings to life with a spoken message. You're pretty sure it didn't have that feature before.
"[Player Name] , you are summoned before the Divine Council to be condemned for the Assassination of a Deity and Usurping their Status. Cooperation would be most advised."
ART CREDIT: Tony Sart, Javier Charro
Hi, hello, Name's Kiri or Hex or Vai! I hardly ever post on Tumblr anymore or advertise any campaign ideas here due to school but this one has been nagging me just a little bit more after listening to Stray Gods, watching American Gods, and rewatching the Percy Jackson films, so I needed to just write down the blurb and the pitch in case anyone is wanting to play some DND in a Divine Urban Fantasy kind of setting.
INFO
The game is set in contemporary Los Angeles, a few years into the future, a few months before the Summer Olympic Games. You have been accused for the assassination of a Deity and usurping their power and status, their Eidolon. Through the Eidolon, you gain power and are now able to perceive Los Angeles in its truest form, a City of Mythical Creatures living in secrecy.
During Character Creation, you will choose a Deity from any Pantheon (Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Egyptian, Norse etc) whose Eidolon has been passed down to you.
This is going to be a Human-centric campaign so, despite the advertisement of other races in the game world, physically your character will be Human. Through the power of the Eidolon, they can be reskinned with the capabilities of other DND races.
Gameplay will be roleplay heavy, debating on either PBP semi-live text or just Discord VC with a separate channel for Texting RP. But there will also be combat involved of course.
The DM, me, hi, has a flexible schedule but I am in PST so applicants who are close to that would be preferred.
Current Allowed Resources are PHB, Xanathar's, Tasha's, and Mythic Theros
Depending on interest, around 4-8 rotating players can be taken.
If interested, DM me or like this post for more details so I can get back to you.

Because I love them I’m going to give a list of my dnd characters that I’ve played so far
Lysandros, a changling battlesmith artificer/college of whispers bard from our heavily homebrewed theros campaign
Tumblr media
His mother was a well renowned performer in neolantin which got her recognized both by an aristocratic family and the god phenax. Lysandros being his son came with the ability to change himself at will. Growing up in the house his mother worked for Lysandros became friends with their son, Dorian and the two were completely inseparable until dorian went on a class trip to a series of dangerous ruins and never came back. Lysandros joined the adventurers guild in an attempt to find him again.
Sirius, an aasimar bloodhunter in an entirely home brewed setting
Tumblr media
He was a pirate and was drafted into the military. He got put into basically a special ops crew and is now in a canon polycule with his whole team including my fellow players :)
Verus is a returned who uses the kalashtar stats for telepathy. He’s a battle master fighter and assassin rogue
Tumblr media
He was a gladiator and died while trying to murder handler guy who also killed Verus in the process. Their souls got trapped in verus’s body together while he tried to escape the underworld.
Bonus mention: Kaz, who I only had for about one two levels after lysandros died before I got Verus bc one of the party memebers double crossed him and the rest of the party became evil <3
Tumblr media
A Triton chronurgy(?) wizard who was on the same class trip as Dorian but lost all memories of it and is searching for them.

My first Theros Campaign! This one is a very short Theros starter set with only 3 sessions/adventures, but they are meant to be the easiest to run adventures I could muster.
Each adventure is only one-page long, it comes with NPC cards with notes on the back and stat block cards for every enemy. and of course a bunch of other stuff!

I have joined a new D&D campaign and have started a Pinterest board for my new character. We are playing in Theros, a Greco-Roman inspired MtG setting.
His name is Akil and he's a leonin cleric who serves Pharika, the goddess of afflictions and healing. He moved from the leonin homeland of Oreskos to Meletis (Athens equivalent) basically because he's a nerd. He is an anthropologist (although technically I think he's doing sociology; I have Issues with anthropology as a discipline) by training and a healer/poisoner by devotion.

Ravnica D&D Campaign: the Background
Here I will just present some miscellaneous information about the basic premise of the campaign and why I structured it this way. I will make a separate post on the characters' session zero another time.
So as I mentioned, I started playing DnD about a year ago, and I have very little knowledge about the world that classic DnD takes place in, the forgotten realms iirc. Even my friend's campaign that I play in does not take place there but in a setting of his own creation. I figured it'd probably make it easier both for my players and for myself to work with a setting that I knew well enough to manage and explain, but to be honest I felt like creating my own setting was too delicate and difficult a job for my first-ever campaign. So, I turned to the DnD/MtG crossover books, since I am quite familiar with MtG settings (and so are some of my friends). The books so far are: Ravnica, Theros, and Strixhaven (although the Plane Shift series covers, admittedly in less depth, Ixalan, Zendikar, Innistrad, Dominaria, Kaladesh and Amonkhet). I talked to my players and ended up choosing Ravnica as I believe it to be the plane I'm most familiar with and also presents really fun and weird story opportunities.
Tumblr media
So, where to go from there? The book gives some ideas on party creation, but one thing that seemed kind of weird to me was the fact that the book just kind of handwaves away how unusual it would be for a group of 4-5 people from different guilds to be close enough to form a "dnd party" (it does also suggest maybe having everyone in the same 1 or 2 guilds, for simplicity). I also didn't really want to commit my players to following the tenets of a specific guild, so, I decided to do the absurd and have the party be guildless. Ok then, what the heck are a party of guildless people doing on Ravnica, where important matters are handled by the guilds? Well, I got the idea from a passage in Krenko's Way, a pre-written quest for a party of level 1 adventurers. In summary, a vedalken noble named Nassius Ven who works for the Chamber of the Guildpact contacts the party and tasks them with capturing an escaped Krenko. I did like the basic idea of this relation, so I decided to re-interpret it. In my campaign, Nassius Ven is the Director of Operations at the Chamber, and he spearheaded an initiative to form a handful of Task Forces, specialized teams that help Jace by investigating, mediating, and, where necessary, enforcing the Law on his behalf. This allowed me to give the players a pretty high degree of freedom when coming up with their characters and backstories, since the formation of the party is a consequence of their individual encounters and hiring process with Ven. I didn't even ask them to be in a position where they wanted a job, because one way or another I managed to create the conditions for them to join the team.
So, tl;dr the party is an ensemble of people hired by the Chamber of the Guildpact to be their on-field reporters and enforcers. Also their boss, Nassius Ven, is the guy depicted on the card Jace's Archivist.

Tanooki D&D OC 90s Fighter Portraits
I drew some 90s Capcom Street Fighter inspired pixel art portraits of (almost) all of my D&D OCs, mostly spurred by the imminent release of Street Fighter 6!
(I also added a brief description of each OC to go with each portrait!)
Caesar Hellwalker, Tiefling Ranged Fighter, my 1st character in a homebrew setting called "The City", a bit of an edgy hot head at times, and will do anything in the name of revenge at points.
Tumblr media
Rygar Mythos, Tabaxi Bard/Demi-god at the end of the campaign, my character in the Theros setting, is very determined to get his goals done, and is seen as a tide and true hero by those who know him well.
Tumblr media
Faye Lighthoof, Minotaur Ranger, my character in the Ravnica setting, is generally cool and collected, but struggles with her past of being a scout of the Boros Legion of Ravnica.
Tumblr media
Krystal Fireheart, White-scaled Dragonborn (Cursed to be a Were Yaun-ti Abomination later in the campaign) Wizard, my character in the Van Richten's guide to Ravenloft setting, is initially stricken with amnesia, forgetting her past entirely, (regains her memories about 3/4 through the campaign) is protective of her friends to a detriment.
Tumblr media
Ryosuke Machate, Harengon Artificer, my character in the Strixhaven setting, is very protective of his love interest, to a detriment, otherwise, he is very determined to bring about change for the better.
Tumblr media
Anna Fireheart, Black-scaled Dragonborn Druid, my character in the Spelljammer setting, a descendant of Krystal Fireheart, she is intent on solving her family's mysteries, to a detriment, but also has a rebellious side to her.
Tumblr media
Rohan Zaxin, Tabaxi Paladin, my 2nd character in a homebrew setting called "The City", can be described as really edgy and stand off-ish, but cares deeply for others deep down.

My homebrew D&D 5e games (same setting, two groups) that I’ve been running for over two years is steadily coming to a close. We’re going until level 12, and both parties just passed their level 10 milestone.
I’m so incredibly excited for the next campaigns already. We’ll be running some written modules (Rime of the Frostmaiden for one group and Masks of Theros for the other) and then jumping into another homebrew setting once those are finished.
One group is already going to be a complete flip between their current party and the next. Going from a strength-is-a-dump-stat party to a we-have-a-fighter-and-a-barbarian-lets-gooo party. The other group is also going to be wild, but in the fact that 75% of the party has hooves.
That overlap period between the gradual sunset of one campaign and the sunrise of another is a wonderful, magical time. I love it.

Dusk Mythic Odysseys of Theros #20 Siona, Captain of the Pyleas Mini images sourced from minisgallery.com
Yoooooo, Dusk is a sick name! Well played Erika Ishii. This is a good temporary miniature choice. I like the classical armor and classical strut pose, which is based directly on the Magic the Gathering card art of this character. A pretty faithful adaptation, thought for the mini they opted to give her a more practical cut of armor skirt, which I can appreciate.
The NPCs
Tumblr media
Dragonborn Bystander Critical Role Clovis Concord Zhelezo
Solid civilian miniature, a dragonborn bystander (also known as a dragonbornster). Weapon toting characters in peaceful poses are always useful because they can be used as chill village folk, but also as combatants. Mighty versatile. Alas, this dragonborn is orange-ish, therefore I hate it. I joke of course. Good model.
The Villains
Tumblr media
Spellcaster D&D Premium Painted Figure: W5 Male Elf Druid
What is the significance of this druid staff design? This staff headpiece has been featured on a few Wizkids models. Though I like the spell effect and the pose is kinda cool, this mini is not quite workin’ for me. The cloak is just this blobby mass that’s tough to read from across the table. And I wish they had spent a little more time painting the right hand. That spell effect is the focal point of the model and as-is it looks pretty crummy.
Tumblr media
Gnoll Monologer Volo & Mordenkainen's Foes #15 Gnoll Pack Leader
“Monologue” is my new favorite command word. And Gnoll Monologer is my new favorite subclass of gnoll monster stat block. I like the 5th Edition gnoll creature design and I think this model captures that fairly well. The fidelity in the face is a little rough though, could benefit from a repaint.
Tumblr media
Melee-er D&D Premium Painted Figure: W4 Female Half-Orc Fighter
Some highly practical female armor on display here (and an even more practical mullet). Decent model overall. But it is a very lazy half-orc model. This mini doesn’t have enough sculpt resolution to properly depict half-orc tusks and ears, so they just sorta threw some paint on to suggest those features. Also, that hairline mold line is gnarly.
Tumblr media
Closing Thoughts
We are in for a pretty lengthy break, I’m glad we did not leave on too much of a cliffhanger. Though I’m not planning any formal coverage of ExU Calamity Minis, I may do some casual posts. Looking forward to seeing some Calamaminis.
See ya next sesh!
