would love to hear your thoughts on Bridgerton costume! Especially the ones of the Featherington family's!

the hot hot gossip in the costume world right now is omg is Bridgerton accurate why is it nOT accurate GOD why is it so inaccurate, which strikes me as a supreme silliness because is Bridgerton offering any other reason in itself for being accurate? did Bridgerton tell you it was going to be a strict depiction of the actual Regency and that you could trust its every word? No, of course it didn’t; Bridgerton is much more preoccupied with being juicy and fun and alive. To expect it to be Downton Abbey is to hold it up to standards it is quite clearly not setting.

As a sidenote, I do blame Downton Abbey for a lot of the current costume discourse. Downton marketed itself (extravagantly) as an “accurate” show, making much of the detail and veracity of its costumes, and for some reason this has led a lot of people to believe that historical accuracy is the be-all-and-end-all of costume design. But that’s a grave misunderstanding of how different stories can be told in different ways—it asks us to sing every song as a waltz, when some are just better as polkas or pop anthems or opera. Downton told us it was “real,” so it invited examination and critique—but to go around with a measuring tape checking hem length on something that’s clearly era-adjacent, rather than spot-on period, is to miss the forest for the trees.

So, about Bridgerton specifically. I think the costumes are beautiful, and I’m really quite shocked Ellen Mirojnick pulled this together because she’s got a spotty record in general (The Greatest Showman—oof). I really love how it leans into the funniest parts of Regency dress, clearly drawing from research but having fun with it. Mirojnick’s not taking historical dress and making it modern; she’s taking historical dress and dialing up what was already there by a billion degrees. The latent extravagance and whimsy of the Regency was always there; Bridgerton just took it and set the saturation to nuclear.

As for the Featheringtons, I love how they’re just patently ridiculous, almost like a picture book in the degree of bonkers. The first time I saw pics from the Bridgerton set I thought I was looking at a remake of Cinderella*, because how wicked-stepsisters is this? And I love how they’re all absolutely daft, but Penelope still stands out just a little bit—accurate for how she stands in the story and her family. The sticking out is important—thought not in the way this stretchiest-stretch-of-a-stretch “analysis” from Screenrant believes. You can’t have it both ways; historical fact isn’t suddenly ripe for symbolic meaning when it wasn’t there to start with.

So yes! Bridgerton is a beautiful show, and the fashion icon of the day remains Lady Danbury forever and ever.

*having now seen Bridgerton, knowing that Ellen Mirojnick did the new Cinderella remake with Camilla Cabello fills me with joy. Fingers crossed for more sparkles and glitter.

This is my cam whore post from Sunday, but Goddess wanted it with one of my proof pictures on!

Just a warning girls, this is going to be a long one. Even for me, this will be looooong.

So Thursday night was incredible and Goddess gave me Friday night off. Any other training would have struggled to have much of an impact and I was still a little hypno/bj drunk from the night before, so I just had a quiet night to let things settle.

so when it was finally my turn to meet Christy I was just a mess

I don’t remember anything I said it was all a big blur

for the past few months I’ve been working on a gift for her. it was a little too ambitious but I tried filling a leather sketchbook with drawings of her and the cast during her time at Anastasia-- like a hand-drawn scrapbook of sorts? but classes picked up at a very inconvenient time and I didn’t get it as pretty as I wanted it and there were lots of blank pages and unfinished sketches but there’s no going back now lol (and I didn’t get any pics of the ones that turned out well, sorry)

but she!!!! was so sweet!! she kept thanking me over and over again for coming and I said something along the lines of *incoherent stuttering* “ohmygosh I love you so much you are so amazing and talented I have a gift for you” as she was signing my playbill

and she pulled the sketchbook out of the bag and before I could explain she was like “omg thank you! you know I can write song lyrics in this right??” and idk I was sorta explaining what it was and she was like “WAIT you put stuff in here?” and idk I'm panicking bc I'm already forgetting but she pulled the string and whipped it open (something I was NOT expecting her to do I thought she’d open it up later and I'm so glad she didn’t) and flipped to a random page and almost dropped it out of excitement/surprise and was like “WHAT THESE ARE SO GOOD?” and she was showing them to ppl in line “look at this!! and these are just sketches????” and I said it wasn’t quite finished and I wish they were better bc she deserves the world and she was just so energetic she goes “you are so talented!!!”

then she asked for my name and I told her and she did the soft doe eyes thing she does and said my name really softly (I'm crying again thinking about it) “Isabel? Isabel thank you for coming I love you and I can’t wait to look at these later!” then she asked for my instagram and she repeated it again “izloveshorses?” WITH HER SOFT DOE EYES SHE IS SO PRECIOUS

and in between all of this she was giving me like three hugs I can’t handle her

and that was like. enough to fulfill my life forever so I was in a trance and said multiple times “thank you so much I love you” and almost walked away and she goes “wait lets get a picture!” and Lordy I'm so thankful she exists and after a few poses she said “and one with the sketchbook” and I didn’t notice this but apparently she took the time to tie up the string again all nice and pretty??? god it was. amazing.

it was all a blur but those were the most important details and I'm still crying so much

OH and the thing with her is that she paid complete and undivided attention to me and everyone else. like no matter how repetitive it gets or how much of a stuttering bumbling mess I was she never broke eye contact and just made me feel like the biggest person in the world. every action-- every touch, hug, word, exclamation, everything-- was out of pure joy and love. she’s so wonderful and deserves every ounce of appreciation possible

What was your inspiration for this blog? hoo boy well,,, ultimately i thought of them rooming together and got emotional and made a huge list of headcanons and was like ,,, why not run an askblog for a bit ill just abandon it after three asks lets have some fun. but somehow im still here and i got sucked in by the complexity of michael and jeremy. i know that sounds kinda silly but just, as someone who is dealing with a lot of similar things, like dependency issues and abandonment issues and depression and anxiety, having these fun functioning character to explore was such a gift for me. i believe honestly thats why im still here and doing this. being able to try and portray a healthy relationship and a healthy way of coping and growing has helped me a lot this past month and given me an outlet i didnt have before. TBH THO the main reason i made this blog if imma be real with u guys id because i didnt like the treatment of a lot of these issues in the fandom. it made me very upset to see depression used as an plot device and michaels dependency issues treated as romantic so i wanted to make a blog that had little to no angst. an art style question. how do you keep the design of characters consistent from frame to frame? my characters they look a lil different every time I draw em (or a lot different) and it tends to disrupt the flow of my comics/animations ohh boy hoo wee props for doing animations im too scared to give that a whirl but!! it helps that i draw all the panels for an ask on one canvas! so if my next panel is going to be the same character in the same spot just in a diff pose i keep the lower layer on just at low opacity so i can use it as a ref! that helps me a lot!

so something (refer to the song he said suits myday) happened with jae recently and ive seen fans trying to defend him by @ing him and saying that they love him which is fine - great even! but what i dont approve is how everyone’s basically forgotten about the whole matter because they had concerts so instead of @-ing him and asking him to explain himself, they tell him what a great concert it was which is also great bc their concerts are honestly amazing. basically my pet peeve is when ppl dismiss the problematic action of some people just bc they like them.

another thing is that there were some fans who started guilting others for wanting to drop day6 completely because of what jae did and in my opinion i think it is totally cool to want to drop a group if they did smth bad like??? its ur life???? u can choose who you want to like. what is not cool is pulling out all the good things the person has ever done in their entire life and try to remind others about the positive sides of the person. yes. they’re an encouraging person, etc. but that does not cancel out the bad things they’ve done until they explain/apologise. what is infuriating is just the manner some people took it?? they literally went ahead and tweeted shit like “would your parents drop you if you did smth wrong?” and “you’re seriously gonna drop someone whos been nothing been nice because of one incident?” yes. people will and you dont have any fucking right to stop them? so dont go pulling out receipts.

another thing. its also okay to want to stan the whole group even if someone has done smth problematic. like? to me youre cool if youre able to see and acknowledge the bad shit someone has done and still stand by their side while educating them at the same time its nice to have faith in your idols. however, i wont say much when your idols dont respond and/or respond in a way that shows absolutely no remorse. its cool if you want to support them too, despite that.

tldr; dont fucking excuse someone’s behaviour/action just because youre so far up their fucking ass. dont pull out shit from before either, be it good or bad. and lastly, its okay to want to drop/continue supporting them, its your life.

My experience at the HVFF

This is going to be a very long post about my experience at the HVFF (sorry for my terrible English).

So, when we arrived, on our left, we saw Milo Ventimiglia and we almost fainted in front of him because we didn't expect to see him so close to the entrance lol Infact we were shocked when we saw John Barrowman few seconds later on our right too haha

Then my friends and I went immediately to Robin's stand and when we saw him we all freaked out -damn, he's so good looking and he seems like 28, not 39 :O- So we stood right next to him (not in the queue) and when he saw us he waved and smiled at us (his smile is so bright and cute, I almost melted).

Then I met Em, Julia (@robinllordtaylor) and Jen (@christopherpaulcolfers) and they're absolutely adorable ;-; I'm so happy that I've finally met them -I love you so much girls!

Then we all went to Robin's photo-op and when I saw him I asked him if we could hug and he said 'Of course, sweetie!' and he smiled again. So I picked up my bags and I showed my hand to my friend -because I was literally shaking- and Dickie (Robin's husband) saw me and he laughed -lol I was sooo embarrassed!

Then we went at the Gotham panel but I don't remember everything they said... But when the interviewer talked about the couples and mentioned Nygmobblepot everyone screamed out lout (video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BUt6B2BDV_P/?taken-by=giulsholfer ) and Robin laughed and changed the subject and talked about Alfred's terrible love life lol

-Ehm, no. This is a drawing for you!

-A draw-- what?! OH.MY.GOD!!! I thought it was a picture!! (he called his manager and told her that it was a drawing) Look at the details! Oh my God, it's so impressive! You're so talented.

And his manager: Oh my, it's better than the original!

And Robin: Yeah! Wait... (he looked at her pretending to be offended) thank you!? (and they laughed.)

Robin hold my hand and complimented my drawing again, and I gave him the t-shirt.

-I hope it fits.

-OH MY GOD! It's my cat Finn! Look! She put a picture of my cat and... Oh, wonderful.

-Actually, it's a drawing.

-You drew this too? Oh my God that's amazing! You're so talented omg!

Drew was right next to him so we decided to go all together and do a group pic. Me and Em had two cutouts of Cory

and when Drew saw them he yelled:

-OH MY GOD! That's so creepy! But beautiful! Wait...

He took his mobile phone and asked us to pose with the cutouts and thEN HE TEXTED CORY IN FRONT OF US!!! HE LITERALLY SENT OUR PIC TO HIM -I'm still screaming-

So he said:

-Okay, I get it that Cory is your favorite BUT who's your second favorite?

And we -laughing-: YOUUUU!

He laughed too and said “You'll have my gratitude forever!”

When we told him that we are all friends and we're from Italy, Great Britain, Germany and Argentina he said: “You should start a girl band called 'The Cory Smith!'

Then we took like 20 pics (he's so sweet and funny istg and he gives the best hugs) and he even put Cory’s face on his lmao

And at some point a guy run towards us and photobombed us and we were like 'Hey you didn't pay for the pic!' but then we noticed that it was fREAKING BRANDON ROUTH! And my friend screamed: OH MY GOD! SUPERMAN PHOTOBOMBED US!

Then I went to Milo's stand and while we were queueing I was taking a looot of picture till he caught me. I smiled guilty and he laughed and said: Don't worry, take as many pics as you want!

When I arrived in front of him the conversation was this:

"Hi! Nice to meet you! Omg this is an ooooold picture!"

"Well, you're always beautiful."

"Aw, thank you! What's your name?"

"Giulia."

"Italia!"

"Yes! I'm from Venice."

Then he hugged me tight ;-;

The second day we went to Robin's stand in the morning. I talked about my social anxiety and that I was there just to meet him and he said that he has the same phobia and that he was so happy that I was able to face my fears to meet him.

But the thing that made my heart jumping was the first thing he said to me:

-Oh, hi! I was looking forward to seeing you again!

Then we went to his stand 3 more times and he hugged us every single one and I was like 'I'm so so so sorry, I don't want to bother you!'

And he was like: 'Awww noo! Don't worry! It's a pleasure, come here!”

And we took a pic with Cory’s cutout too lmao

We also saw Dickie again because he was bringing him bottles of water bc it was so hot, and a friend of mine tapped on his shoulder and when he turned around we paralized and waved at him. He smiled and looked genuinely happy and he said: “Hi! How are you?! Are you having fun?!” and omg he's so cute! He has a beautiful smile!

Then we went to the photo-op again and when Robin saw me he said:

-Hi Giulia! Nice to see you again! and he hugged me one more time.

Then we went to Sean (he had his black glasses... we HAD to take a pic with him lmao he's hot, I've to say that :P)

and while we were taking our pics with him, Drew yelled:

-Seannyyyyyyy??? I'm on someone's wallpaper! Are you on someone's wallpaper?

And Sean pretended to be sad: -No :((

And Drew with an high-pitched voice: Well, I'm on someone's wallpaper!

It was soooo funny! I love them so much!

Before leaving I asked Drew if I could hug him again and he almost lift me off the ground and he said to me and my friends: “Good luck with the girl band!!” (the one that he called 'The Cory Smith' the day before lol)

Then we waved at David and Jessica more than once and they're so cute too! David is so small and Jessica is breathtaking!

It was such a lovely experience and everyone was so nice to me. The cast of Gotham is a treasure and I had the best time with them and my amazing friends!

HataJitsu & KamiMiyo Toku Headcanons ✩꒳✩

(￣ω￣)that no one asked for but I can’t stop thinking about it okkkk 💦💦💦💦

can you taste my undying thirst and bias for kamimiyo because I am shameless (￣ω￣;) no actually, I’m Mimi

Aaaaaand tokusatsu or 特撮 for those who don’t know are J-dramas and/or films that use lots of special effects ^o^ Godzilla, Garo, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman etc. are just some examples~!

I just think that Kaminaga and Hatano would like really be into tokusatsu series and would debate which ones are better, best suits, fight scenes, etc etc and Miyoshi and Jitsui would just be forced to put up with their embarrassing boyfriends... but low-key enjoying it too wwwwwwww

...

and yes, Kaminaga and Hatano would totally do the poses when they go to exhibitions and fanboy so hard at the great details!! (honestly, same tho >w<)

Jitsui openly likes Toku too (to a certain degree) and will watch it with Hatano kinda often

It's cute because Hatano gets all excited and Jitsui is just LOL, finding him sooo cute and precious

Hatano naturally hates being teased and called a kid, but Jitsui can’t help but tease him more for being such an adorable fanboy (*ﾉωﾉ)ｷｬｰ like okk Hatano, ILY but you ARE a kid sometimes and it’s so freaking cute

Not to mention how pure some of these shows are omfg and the fact that some of the catch phrases are so cheesy and Hatano enjoys them so much and get so into it, makes Jitsui wanna bully protect him more

Because the real hero isn’t the next rider or super sentai, but the stupid boyfriend beside him（˶′◡‵˶）

Though, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows with these heroes and Jitsui does find himself honestly liking the intriguing plot lines that can surprisingly be deep and insightful

Jitsui looks forward to Hatano’s reactions but really, it’s vice-versa because a lot of the time Hatano’s already seen these episodes but he just wants Jitsui to enjoy it too

But then they just keep sneaking glances at each other’s reaction instead of watching wwww

Plus Hatano gets really hyped during the fight scenes and is just always in awe and Jitsui’s starting to wonder like ohhh is this why Hatano took all these martial arts classes (つ∀<●)ﾟ💦 💦 💦

Hatano sometimes thinks that he could totally be one of the suit actors if not for his height and kinda gets really down about it but Jitsui would just be like “I don’t suppose I’d need special effects to draw fear into people when it’s all natural, so why would you need special effects to suit up and be my hero?” (>////////////<)

Hatano passed out from a fever that night and Jitsui couldn’t take Hatano being everyone’s hero when he should just be his (✿´ ꒳ ` )

But when they do watch the new episodes together, as much as Jitsui does admit to liking it, they don’t hold a candle to Hatano’s reactions at the suits and everything

Jitsui enjoys Hatano’s stupid smile and overblown excitement the most because Hatano seems low-key troubled sometimes and doesn’t say much because he’s unsure really of why he’s feeling dubious, but when he watches toku, he like forgets all that so secretly, Jitsui loves his addiction so much

And Hatano somehow got Jitsui to start drawing toku art and is just MY BOYFRIEND IS SO AMAZING, HE SCARES ME (wait..he always does)

Random but I think Jitsui would probably enjoy KR Amazons the most and would lol during horror films and Hatano is just......I'm glad he likes me...I think. (￣ω￣;)

KamiMiyo

Of course, Kaminaga has to drag (and beg and whine for) Miyo to actually consider watching Toku shows and once they start watching, it’s normal for them to marathon shows and de-stress with each other since Miyo wants to see what’s gotten Kaminaga so excited lately and because he’s so cuteeee (*´∀`*)えへへ

Miyo thinks that the shows aren’t half bad and is at the very least intrigued by the whole idea of it, and also because Kaminaga is so pure and adorable for watching these kind of bubbly shows, it’s almost funny? Even when they’re not always bubbly and kinda deep. He just likes seeing Kaminaga be really happy *:･(*/////∇/////*)･:*:･

Plus, the chance to tease Kaminaga will never not be amazing wwwww

but Miyo low-key thinking omg the detail on these suits are so amazing and the choreograph is just so grea---I mean...it's passable, naturally. That's why it has a following and all and what no, Kaminaga...I’m just taking this photo for ref ok...? 💦 💦 💦

and yes of course they go to Kamen Rider the Diner and Miyoshi just...why am I here...like sure, Miyo’s a foodie and all but novelty food almost always tastes the same.

Though, that’s where Kaminaga comes in and says something about how the details they put into creating these silly aesthetics for the food based on quirks from the show makes it really fun to eat! Not to mention that a lot of those times were when he was watching toku with Miyo and that makes all the difference---it’s definitely not as enjoyable if he’s not with Miyo because somehow Miyo makes Toku even better and he just treasures Toku more because of that and I’m cry (´；ω；`)

and god, Kaminaga can you not stare at Miyo like tht because he’s trying to eat here without swooning （*/∇＼*）

Miyo’s just.......I am not getting flustered over some below average novelty food because of you (≧ヘ≦　) he totally is though wwwwww

and it makes it even worse because Kaminaga’s charms always has that effect on Miyo and Miyo is just...stop taking pictures and eat your weeb food

But also LOL Kaminaga is such a dumb dork and getting excited over the cafe merch or interior and how it reminds him of this and that scene and Miyoshi just can’t help but wanna treasure this stupid pure sunshine even more >w<

Ohhh and and and Kaminaga totally fanboying about toku with these total strangers and Miyo just totally can’t stand it and just cosplays as Kaminaga’s fave to get his attention

though kaminaga is totally flustered at this, he won’t hug Miyo and barely even kiss him because the details of his suit are so amazing and Miyoshi’s just I hate that you’re so cute （˶′◡‵˶） but seriously, look at me b*tch

Though, what if instead Miyo was like a closet tokusatsu fan because he thinks liking something so childish totally contrasts with his ummm supposedly "cool" image but then again he's dating Kaminaga lololol and he finds the heroes pretty cool lolololl idk (I;m same miyoshi saaaaame) (∩ﾟ∀｀∩)ｷｬ―!!!!

Kaminaga finding out and at first like LOLOLOLOLOL I can't believe I've known you for this long and you managed to keep it from me; that is so cute (and super happy that he’s the only one who knows about Miyo’s addiction) TwT

Kaminaga's not an avid fan but he does enjoy it time to time from the stuff he's seen and finds it pretty cool and Miyo totally getting excited talking about toku and Kaminaga's like dying because that is freaking cuteeeee

Miyo secretly collects the figures LOL and keeps them hidden even away from Kaminaga ( ˃̣̣̥ω˂̣̣̥ )

Also okkk so when Jitsui goes to a doujin event to sell his manga or doujins perhaps, of course, the others come to support him!

Naturally Hatano is there and lol probably buys manga and doujins, artbooks, merch (I feel like he'd be into manga and stuff a lot, but not crazy but does enjoy it)

Miyoshi comes too, of course, but can't find Kaminaga anywhere is just ...sort of lonely but you know, he's here to support Jitsui and make fun of Hatano and w o w that is some intense cosplay right there huhhh is that his fave rider in a get up that looks almost identical to the exact same suit made for the show and omg his belt is so unreal and every detail makes him feel like this is some crazy dream because this cosplayer is practically oozing this unrivaled charisma and charm ≧(´▽｀)≦

and it’s probably his unhindered narcissism, but he can’t help but feel that this cosplayer is looking at him (though, low-key freaking out because oh no, can all toku fans tell who other toku fans are because he is sooo sCREWED)

miyo's like almost sweating but gosh there's so many ppl and thank you god if you're out there because Miyoshi always has his favourite handkerchief to look extra pristine and wipe away non-existent sweat, of course (Gods don’t sweat) (ノ*゜▽゜*)

and ugh where are you Kaminaga because Kaminaga needs to see this too

and and Miyo wants to... scold him as well for being this late and not answering all his messages

Secretly, however, Miyo won’t mind if Kaminaga makes fun of him but naturally Kaminaga won't...much because Kaminaga thinks Miyo low-key fanboying is just as cute as affectionate drunk miyo ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨

The people are still crowding around this amazing cosplayer but now that Miyo’s kinda close, he can totally sneak a pic while no one's looking at him because oh god no one can find out (even if Kaminaga did yikes, but it’s ok because it’s Kaminaga)

For once, he feels nearly unworthy to be near this cosplayer that is somehow a person and why isn't Kaminaga answering his phone

Nvm Kaminaga finally picked up and---huhhhhh why does the cosplayer have Kaminaga's phone and is...w-waving? at him no less?

Once the helmet comes off, Miyo can barely even register that it’s Kaminaga and is totally blushing because it’s so freaking hot (actually, Miyo, there’s quite a bit of AC buuut) and Kaminaga is so freaking hot and no, he doesn’t mean just because of the material of the cosplay

Finally when Miyo gets close enough, he’s too flustered to say much and Kaminaga’s just adoring the cuteness exuding Miyo right now

for the first time, Miyoshi’s really feeling insanely shy right now and he’s known Kaminaga for practically forever and Miyo even has the gall to timidly ask if he can touch his suit because it’s so amazing

Of course, Kaminaga isn’t so foolish as to not tease Miyo at this when Miyo softly grazes the suit and is still in complete awe at the precision and detail because yes, Kaminaga has always been amazingly skilled and Miyo is so so lucky to have this man as his boyfriend ｡(〃ω〃)ﾟ.+:｡♪

Miyo doesn’t even realize how shy he’s become and is just cautiously raising his phone and is starts murmuring almost

“So...is it ok if we take a selfie together.........” like he’s now Kaminaga’s fanboy and Kaminaga is so startled and is also blushing frantically (because of the “heat” righttt boyyyys 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀)

but Kaminaga’s just kisses him instead and is just “A kiss is a much more meaningful memorabilia, isn’t it?” and even winks for added measure and gosh, Miyo knows his little handkerchief can’t save him now from looking like a total tomato (because oh yes, the heat is oh so vindictive of him)

“If it’s only for me, I suppose it is.”
