Things you might not realize are affecting your ao3 readership:
Putting unrelated fics into one compilation instead of series or collections
Not tagging your fics/“haha I’m so bad at tagging!”
Tagging all of the ships in a fandom instead of the relevant ones to the story
“This is my first fic ever”/ “I’m really not a good writer” / “sorry if this is crap”
Summaries that say “sorry don’t think I will update much” or “might be abandoned idk”
Tagging “r@pe” or “unaliving” etc instead of the actual tag so people can filter/exclude
NOT tagging major, relevant tags or kinks without using the “creator chose not to use archive warnings” option
Telling people how bad your writing is and how you hate it so much and how they shouldn’t even be reading your fic (self deprecation)
Weird punctuation: not starting new quotes or descriptions on a new line, and/or putting extremely long blocks of text on the page without a break

I feel like McLaren missed a great opportunity with not putting Good Lookin' (he's bouncing off my booty cheeks I love the way he rides) into the video

sometimes you watch a fictional man implode his whole life and you think to yourself. i find him too relatable. i’m gonna be better. and now you do self care activities. guess who this is about.

Anyway, thinking about Pratchettian narratives (stories about stories, righteous rage at injustice e.g. Vimes et al) and realised that El is the Tiffany Aching & Granny Weatherwax type of witch.
Like El's entire journey is that quote about turning selfishness into a weapon: "Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect them! Save them!" but on a much larger scale than Tiffany's chalk or the Ramtops
I think even Granny Weatherwax would approve of El's final approach in how to get enclaves to change.
It's enough to make me look askance at Naomi Novik, as I was on LJ in the late 00s too and the circles in which there was overlap between us would definitely have read Terry Pratchett.
(Especially as Gwen fits the description given of Pepper's mum in Good Omens/observation of such types rather closely)

About Riko 1/?
My idea of Riko is of an absolutely insufferable person, but person everyone tolerates because his ways bring home results. Not talking about the behind scenes terror he exposed foxes to. That's dirty play, and I usually write it off as something master Tetsuji was behind. Riko just used them as manipulation tactic (which backfires as instead of frightening foxes, he pissed them off and motivated them to work harder).
Ravens are trained to be pinnacle of excellence when it comes to their physical abilities. After all, they are worth little to nothing outside of court. But to be good player you need to be able to strategize on the fly and synergize with your team and that's not something charts before game can always prepare you for. That's what Riko excels at, quick decision making and risky play. The ravens are groomed to support this play style. Their only job is to read Riko and adjust their game to match him (this is why the board was concerned about the play style holding Kevin Day back).
Current team for ravens is undefeated because everyone on the team trusts Riko's judgment. As fucked up as the little fucker is, he knows the game. He has intuition few can rival with. He does not fuck around, does not allow people to feel more important than they are when their game is shit. That's why raven team consists of numbers from 1 to 4 then 10 and up. The fodder is in constant competition between each other to earn that single digit. They know Riko is crazy. They know a person should not function like this but they also know that his way bring results. They follow him off field with the same trust they follow him on field because for ravens there is no difference between the two.
They need Riko, who gave his life away to the game (a choice master made for him) to carry them to better future.
But then Riko's only reason to play is gone. His father passed, never acknowledging him as a human being. And the game does not matter so much any more.
TLDR ravens know Riko is fucking insane but they respect it because they need him that way.

God I just love Amber and Diamant so much. They really fulfill three of the most important criteria for a ship for me, in ascending order of importance:
They genuinely like each other. Serious and silly duos are usually written with the serious one being constantly irritated, to the point where you wonder why they even keep the other one around, but Diamant is consistently shown to be very fond of Amber, and to sincerely enjoy his silliness. And of course Amber adores him right back.
They’re actually better off for being in each other’s lives. Amber gives Diamant respite from his stressful life. Diamant gives Amber a greater purpose, and not just because Diamant’s a prince, but because Amber likes him as a person. They make each other happier people, particularly Diamant. It’s sweet.
It’s just so fucking funny
And then you’ve got Jade, witnessing all this, not as an exhausted bystander, but as a friend who’s even more enthusiastic about their nonsense than I am (only in a hilariously deadpan sort of way). Absolutely iconic trio. Love this game

hey meraaa <3333 im new to your blog and really love leona. i adore your writing style and wanted to ask if you have written anything about him yet?? lots of love :)
Hello!! Welcome to my blog! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ thank you for liking my writing style!!!!! Lots of love to you in return, anon!!!! <3
I have written something for Leona, but it isn't entirely finished yet. And I do have a few fic ideas stowed within my drafts for him that I would like to write in the future. My goal is to write a yandere fic for each Housewarden that makes allusions to the film they are inspired by. I haven't thought of any solid concepts for Leona's fic, but I'm certain that with enough thinking I will eventually find some interesting themes to build off of!

it's mostly funny bc it was from that one imogen guy bc what power does orym hold over bh. quickly.
lmao like i do think that Orym having these institutional relationships has given him an amount of respect (and through that, authority) with the hells, as part of the way in which his identity as "the nice, normal one" is largely a result of his comparatively lucky hand in life in comparison to his friends, as opposed to inherent character traits he posseses.
Orym IS smart and reasonable, and cares deeply for others, and he's empathetic and principled and brave, don't get it twisted! but having a stable upbringing and loving family, and like, not being marked a social pariah due to circumstances outside of his control, are all incredibly impactful blessings that helped those positive characteristics to grow, and that the other hells didn't have. (the one who gets the closest is Fearne, who mostly gets tripped up by feywild vs material plane differences and her based refusal to abide by mortal cultural norms she thinks are stupid.)
so Orym does a little bit have social power over the other hells, depending both on how much they see an ability to move comfortably through society as inherently good and aspirational, and also on their general ability to read people (and their general outlook on people, tbh!). which is why you get FCG on one end being like "Orym's just great," and Ashton on the other being like, "Well-"
