hii!! for the team comp event, my boys (triple crowned kings) are xiao, albedo, kazuha and the wanderer (I named him Aoki btw <3 but u dont have to include this if u dont think its relevant) though sometimes I switch out xiao or the wanderer for cyno because im in love with him too and sometimes i need an element that isnt geo or anemo. all of them are triple crowned not for meta, but because they are my boyfriends (im super normal about them).

TEAM COMP: XIAO, ALBEDO, KAZUHA, WANDERER (FT. CYNO)

♥ Your team is just a spider web full of conflict. Xiao and Wanderer are always fighting, always trying to 1v1 each other and Albedo and Kazuha had to run away from multiple tornadoes caused by the two Anemo boys. Cyno is just waiting patiently for the two to just kill each other, or maybe weaken each other so he can finish them off himself. Sadly, nobody in the game can fully kill each other (I'll enhance that concept in another post).

♥ Albedo doesn't know if he should be relieved or tense at where he stands in your team, he knew being on your main team has high stakes but he didn't know they were this dangerous. He's glad his element is useful in your eyes and he strives to better his skills and talents to maintain his spot in your main team. He doesn't care about his other members, he may be acquaintances with Cyno but that's it. He wouldn't help him when Cyno has the possibility to replace him as well.

♥ Kazuha can only sigh when he hears the voices of his other two teammates. To be honest, he's worried about his place on your team. Considering your replacing your team members with Anemo visions with Cyno and his Electro vision. He wonders if he will be the next one to sit back and watch all his other teammates be graced by your divine will, it brings an inking sense of dread to his stomach to think about it. He just hopes he's enough for you to continue using him.

♥ Xiao doesn't like this. He doesn't like Wanderer. He doesn't like Cyno. And he doesn't like how his feelings make the situation worse. Is he lacking somehow? Why is he being switched with another spear user? These questions eat away at his brain every time he gets switched with Cyno, he observes from the sidelines and just stares at Cyno's fighting style. Is it the way he fights? Do you want him to fight more like Cyno? He might struggle with fighting his code but he's willing to do just that, so please use him more.

♥ Wanderer, or "Aoki" as you named him, is seething in anger and confusion. The first time you switched him with Cyno he had a full-on tantrum about it off-screen. He thought you abandoned him until he was put back on the team while he was having a mini pity party alone. He was confused, but he quickly snapped out of his confusion and continue doing his best. And then...it happens again. And it just repeats and he doesn't like that! You should keep him by your side permanently! Or maybe just replace that brooding yaksha since you don't need two spear users anyway!

♥ Cyno has been waiting for this moment, this moment where he gets to be one of your mains. When he's on the field he does his best on every kill, every domain, and every ley line challenge you may use him on to show you just how capable he actually is. Aside from that he is a chatterbox when you both are just exploring, he abuses his voice lines just to speak with you for longer. Even though it's a one-sided conversation, he will cherish those moments.

♥ A lot of fights happen, and weapons are always involved in the fights. Sometimes it's Xiao and Cyno, then it's Wanderer and Cyno, also Xiao and Wanderer, and then it becomes Cyno versus Wanderer and Xiao. All Albedo and Kazuha can do is watch from the sidelines and pray to you that they don't get involved in the fights.

Got any tips on how to play med better? Like when to uber n stuff? (I use the vaccinator btw)

I feel like being supportive of my team and I wanna be silly with it and also mainly cuz i hate myself

heya, thanks for asking :) i dont personally play with vacc much nowadays but when i did id try to get as many of the 4 charges as possible before i encountered an enemy and then popped the appropriate res bubble on my pocket, ex. we encounter a soldier so you swap to explosive res and pop that but then a pyro comes so you switch to fire res and pop that as well, so on and so forth another good time to uber is when a lot of enemies are near, this is better for stock/kritz but if you can arrow tank then youre good i dont have much vacc tips, as stated before, i dont play with vacc much but i think that @vaxxman (sorry for the @ :')) might have more info about that for other general tips heres this:

first things first learn heal priority, usually when im in casual i start with buffing my explosives (solly, demo) then my fellow med if there is one, followed by scout, pyro and heavy, then the sniper if i can get to him and lastly spy because those guys can usually get out of sticky situations well or just simply die

i dont know what primary you use but personally id say use the crossbow, its meta for a reason; huge healing output in a short time and you can style on people by hitting some insane arrows. also no matter what you use, learning how to aim it is crucial, what helped me most was aim training maps like tr_walkway or tr_denial (<- this one is mostly for scouts/soldiers but shhhh) both require pasting this command into console before you start them up for the training bots to work sv_allow_point_servercommand always

also movement is very important, for starters damage surfing (right before youre about to get hit jump then crouch mid air to get a boost) and it carries over to every class, yippee! also since i can talk about movement, theres a strategy i often use which i call the shimmy, its a more complicated one i guess? it takes some practice, heres a clip i got of it in comp recently

^ the shimmy fair warning for loud audio, these etf2l schmucks are loud as hell anyway! what you do here is press your movement keys (mostly A and D) in quick succession, move your mouse around a bit and throw some crouching in there in order to make your movement as unpredictable as possible to confuse the enemy and fuck with their aim, this mostly works on hitreg classes (scout, engi, sniper, anyone using a shotgun) and seeing as it works well against comp scouts, it should work in casual as well!

lastly heres some more resources for you, tr_medic, a compilation of training maps made for, well, medic, its a bit less user friendly than tr_walkway or tr_denial but better for medic specific stuff like keeping distance when healing, also here is the art of medic which has everything you could ever want to know (even some comp stuff, neat!)

your guide was really helpful thanks!! i’ve been playing since 1.0 so i should theoretically have a good grasp on the meta by now but the more i tried to look into it the more confusing it got 😭 idk if you play genshin but i find its meta a lot more accessible for some reason

as for my characters, i have every 4 star besides lynx and hanya and my 5 stars are welt, jing yuan, silver wolf, bailu, jingliu and seele. i’m gonna try to get blade or kafka next patch but that’s it for now. if you could recommend me some teams i’d appreciate it 🙏

lol i do play genshin but i am the opposite of you, i’m soooo much worse at it. its cause i have shit reflexes so turn based is much better for me. though i do think genshin teambuilding usually offers more leeway and options. advice under the cut :)

ok you’re in luck having jingliu she is insanely good. best dps at the moment. defo go for bronya at ur 300 pulls cause she will make her much better but for now i would say jingliu/pela/asta/bailu and either seele or jing yuan/lynx/silver wolf/tingyun (jing yuan for aoe, and seele for single or low number of targets) if you need a second sustain for your jingliu team because she consumes hp, use fire trailblazer in place of ast. both of these teams will be extremely comfortable skill points-wise.

ik u dont have lynx now but you will get her for FREE next patch (tomorrow) in pure fiction. use natasha in the mean time

in terms of blade vs kafka you don’t NEED either since u already have strong dps and may want to get a support (*coughs* ruan mei) instead but between those two i would say blade, unless you are going for black swan in 2.0 (her full kit was recently leaked, go to the star rail leaks subreddit or hakush.in to see stuff about her.) i say this because blade and jingliu have really great synergy and because the 4*s on kafka’s banner are ass. but she will probably be one of the best characters in game in her niche dot comp but only with black swan (emphasis on “probably,” we won’t know until 2.0) so basically if u go for kafka u gotta go for 2 different characters.

tomura & stain

we all know stain was a major influence on tomura and his character development early in the series, so id like to take a closer look at why stain was so important to tomura (and why i sincerely believe tomura had an implicitly-canon crush on him.)

this is actually pretty glaring when you watch all of tomura's season 2 scenes all together. i think the reason it slipped by so many people (including me) is because the villains side of the story was so broken up by the sports festival and kids internships. (and, tomura was a relatively new character to the audience at the time - we didn't know yet that that is very much not how tomura behaves around most people.)

and before i get started, i just wanna say that this post isnt about shipping, i just think this is an overlooked part of tomuras character. i also need to establish this reading of their dynamic to further support another meta post i’m planning on writing in the future regarding tomura and afo.

I'll link a season 2 tomura compilation video in the notes so you can see what im talking about yourselves, but for now, here are my impressions. (all white subtitles in screenshots are tomura’s dialogue.)

we start with tomura admiring stain from pictures and videos. like… his eyes are literally sparkling. pretty sure he's never looked at anyone except afo with so much non-hostile intensity and interest.

ive talked a little bit about this before, but i get the feeling that tomura just genuinely doesnt expect to be understood by anyone at all. not civilains, not other villains, and certainly not heroes. since all tomura really knew about stain and his motivations at this point was that he was "the hero killer", he probably thought he'd finally found another person who shared his hatred for hero society with the same passion - someone who could understand him. no wonder he was so excited.

when face-to-face, tomura openly admits stain has more experience than him, and calls him “dai-senpai” (translated as “sir” below); this is used for people who have MUCH more experience than you in your field. starting strong with the flattery! (esp considering im pretty sure they both have roughly the same amount of experience, technically.)

(also, aren’t most crushes in these shows directed towards someones “senpai”?)

when he makes a truly terrible first impression and gets stabbed for his efforts, tomura just... laughs awkwardly. tomura has a general tendency to smile and laugh when hes in pain, but the sheer nervous awkwardness of it is what makes it significant here. i dont think he would have responded this way if it had been, say, dabi or toga who attacked him during recruiting instead.

when stain rejects his offer and monologues about why he doesnt like people like tomura, tomura responds in a clearly offended and hurt way. in other, similar encounters throughout the manga, tomura is much more level-headed than he is here. i dont think hes ever taken someones opinion of him so hard at any other point in the series, which is pretty notable considering the sheer amount of other times he gets insulted to his face.

...and yet, he remains civil during their conversation on the rooftops afterwards, even when stain makes another dig at him. (also, correct me if im wrong, but is the first line below not literally a romance trope...?)

after stain leaves (and only after,) tomura starts poking fun at him, despite having been the one to try to recruit him in the first place. makes sense that he's trying to point out all his 'flaws', sort of like hes trying to talk himself out of his previous admiration for him after being so thoroughly rejected. and, considering tomura had to later question how he and stain were different at all, these criticisms seem a little bit hollow in hindsight.

coping with heartbreak by seeking (indirect!) revenge. of course his idea of revenge involves making stain feel like everyone has forgotten about him. acting like you were never interested in someone is a pretty common trope for this kind of thing, isnt it? that they meant so little to you (or anyone else) that you dont even remember the rejection! and of course, tomuras trying to make stain feel as humiliated as he did.

also worth mentioning: i think this is the only time where tomura wanted to end up in the news for a reason unrelated to making people question justice and hero society. releasing the nomus didn't seem to be about making people doubt the heroes ability to protect, it was just to outshine stain.

tomura isn't really the kind of person who… gets that worked up over losses? So the fact that hes so agitated about it is significant. even at usj when he lashed out at kurogiri for letting iida escape, he pretty quickly bounced back and accepted that they had to retreat for the time being. still, it must hurt seeing the guy who so harshly rejected you get talked about nonstop, especially in a positive light.

(honey, you're the one hung up on stain.)

This leads to - as user palbabor-writes pointed out in her character analysis of tomura - tomura's worst outburst in the series. isnt it interesting that stain was responsible for that, in a character who is otherwise relatively calm and collected? that suggests some pretty strong feelings attached.

of course, losing his nomus and being insulted by some strangers certainly lended to that outburst, but those were both just salt in the wound that stain had already created.

then he literally dons his Sadness Hoodie (seriously, we only see him wear it while sulking at the mall and after afo is arrested) and goes off to wonder why he and stain were too different to work out. and he lingers on that for a long time. why were they too different? what went wrong? why didn't stain accept him?

this doesnt just seem to be about how society perceives the two of them, because the thoughts are "directed" at stain, rather than society as a whole. he wants to understand it from stain's perspective before anyone elses. (plus, everyone thought stain was a part of the LoV, so as far as society is concerned, he and stain are the same.)

...and hes so torn up about this that he goes as far as venting to and consulting a teenager on the matter.

i don't know. romantic feelings and tropes in media aren't my strong suit, but i hope you understand what im getting at!!

like i said at the beginning, i'll reblog this with a link to the season 2 tomura comp so you can kind of see it for yourselves. theres also some things from supplemental material for bnha that further supports this theory, but since thats only dubious canon, i'll put those in a follow-up post!

don't know if you have both kazuha and venti but if you do, who would you recommend for people to pull for? im having a hard time deciding. if you dont have kazuha feel free to ignore this!

Pull whoever you like more! I just pulled kazuha cuz he’s an anemo and i really wanna collect every anemo characters.

If we’re talking meta it depends on your team comp and both of them are a great support in abyss and really depends on what the mobs are on each floor. Kazuha adds an elemental dmg bonus to the characters when his ult swirls with one of the elements— the only downside is it mostly swirls with pyro over any elements. As for Venti, he gives addition er when an element swirls in his burst and is a great battery support for the team.

Venti’s good as well and a carry for my team since i started playing the game. His burst cost is low and you can pretty much spam his ult, switch to your dps and ungga bungga your way through those enemies. Though all these new mobs cant be sucked by his burst he’s still the better support for CCing them! Damage wise venti is much higher than kazuha’s. I wont even hesitate spending all my primogems to get him to c6 lol

The only problem is that for venti’s, the enemies sucked by his burst can’t be attacked by any of the melee characters and it’s hard for them to reach so Kazuha is the other option for it if you want to cc and then attack all of them at once.

Another thing is kazuha and venti are good for explorations and i always bring them whenever there’s new area to explore.

If you want my opinion, id suggest you pull for kazuha if you’ve been waiting for him for so long. He’s pretty much flexible in whatever build you’re going to put on him. He can be a dps, subdps, cc support (not as great as venti but still viable), or just an elemental dmg support.

Though dont let my words affect your decision, just pull whoever you like more anon!

im good! as mentioned earlier today, i fell asleep in my Natural Resources class and I feel so bad about it. It was the last ten minutes and I know he was done lecturing but i still felt bad. If he had anything important to add, I didnt hear it. On top of that, I had an exam for that class yesterday which i spent like 6hrs studying for (also yesterday) and I really hope i passed. barroi talks about why the team failed last year, the atmosphere/coaching of the new team, beast and nevix and why he believes in them, and the meta. [link to the full podcast]

team atmosphere was biggest problem which lead to stellar retiring, tried to "better" atmosphere by trading envy to shanghai. going mixed roster didnt improve atmosphere and it just spiraled

Said toronto was beating everyone in scrims in stage 1, barroi thought they were a 4th place team and just got unlucky w getting shock in playoffs. Emphasized this several times during the podcast

team wasnt built for atmosphere, "long-term sustainability," was built to perform well but exploded "sooner than expected" and they HAD to make changes which was where they made bad decisions and it spiraled.

biggest thing he learned was coaching was all abt psychology, keeping morale up, small things to do to keep everything working, learned its HUGELY important

last season toronto's structure wasnt as great as it is this year

barroi was part of the roster building, thinks building a roster the way they did will always fail

implied toronto scrimmed way way too much last year and burned everybody out

noted specifically that ivy was nervous onstage even in later games

on the new team’s atmosphere/chemistry:

new team made for morale and high team atmosphere, all personalities will mesh well. that was the most important thing and its been working insanely well. everyones not best friends but its working well. 

happy with the players and environment they have, thinks adding an extra element might disturb that not in current plans to add anyone else. they are thinking abt contingency plans tho, have plans in case of emergencies

some competitiveness in the roster, but not a high level. Doesnt like the idea of an a and b roster bc every day is a high pressure environment where the better squad will start

Toronto scrims 2 blocks a day 6 days a week. do 3 blocks sometimes but not every day. def lower than highest hours of scrims in the league since some teams do 3 blocks a day.

when asked if fefe drives the coaches/players differently responded with "YES." 

fefe is rly good at motivating people, rly knows how to "get to people." may not be the biggest brain but knows his stuff and knows how to create a good environment. "hell of a difference" compared to last season (sounds like drama w bishop to me!)

everyone in coaching staff has their own role, like a venn diagram, bc of how specific their structure is. everything is really efficient

there's never been any discipline things on toronto yet, theres rules for scrims but no ones broken any of them yet

doesnt think toronto is gonna be a top 5 team. thinks maintaining a top roster + taking team psychology into account is very difficult

its possible that toronto could hit a really high high, but its a low possibility

last season barroi was worried abt pressure on stage bc everyone was silent, atmosphere was different, is not at all worried now. thinks the team drives itself very well, points to kariv and beast as motivators and nevix and logix as people who will never perform bad under pressure

on beast and nevix

beast is a huge motivator and a really fun guy for the team, keeping the team atmosphere up. has a huge competitive drive, learns REALLY fast and takes any and all feedback. theyre putting more and more emphasis on beast's role and more responsiblities bc theyre really satisfied w how he performs and learns. thinks beast is a very good pick for them

people on roster were chosen for specific reasons, beast was chosen bc he's super competitive. 

beast is kind of person where having a backup mt would motivate him even more, he wouldnt shut down if he was benched he would fight for the starting spot

nevix is "not the best player in the world" (in response to reddit saying he is the best player in the world). has been a good asset to the team, goes to the coaches/teammates most w questions. rly wants to prove himself

on the meta

in scrims sometimes offtank plays orisa now since mt is playing something else

"2 big archetypes" everyone is running in scrims. poke and rush comps. rush is reaper/mei/orisa/rein/lucio moira/bap. poke is mei hanzo, dif flex sups, orisa, no lucio. variation within those comps but its only those 2. the comps play very differently despite having similar heroes bc of dif win conditions and styles. poke is map dependant, wins over rush when speedboost cant close gap fast enough. theres not a core meta comp thats as ridiculous as goats, tho rush is similar to goats. 

teams playing junk, widow, probably double sniper, more diverse than past but again 2 archetypes of comps. running one or the other is very team/style dependant, for instance shock is probably sticking to rush and nyxl is probably sticking to poke based on their histories. wont talk abt what toronto runs

dive is map dependant, not smth you want to do all the time bc the other two comps are very good, rush is a natural counter to dive. doesnt sound like hes scrimmed dive comps often. sees dive having a place and being good at times but thinks its very team and map dependant. map and team both have to be good for it for it to work. dive is not the third archetype. if you have a good sombra vs poke, dive could work but was kinda like /shrug

havent scrimmed any teams in asia, which makes sense

thinks this season is exciting bc of scrim bubbles, nobody knows whats happening on other regions. each bubble conforms to one thing, may be different may not be, one may be superior but nobodys gonna know til they play each other.

yiska thinks theres gonna be some wild meta diversity since some teams have long breaks and can afford to grind out new comps, also bc there will be patches

apparently not a lot of other teams have that kind of good structure. Also mentioned that toronto’s scrimming outlaws

barroi thinks defiant will place better than 13 (in response to tactical crouch thinking theyll place 13th), things would have to go “seriously wrong” for them to place lower. Thinks theyll have a strong first half and is sure if they do that the 2nd half will be even better. Convinced theyll at least make playins

barroi thinks chengdu will do fairly well especially w the scrim bubbles. Thinks they’ll be one place below defiant maybe. 

difference between coaching completely mixed roster and a 1 language roster, dont have to put as much emphasis on making sure everyone understands each other. depends mainly on the philosophy of the head coach, which changed so its different. probably the same without the head coach factor tho

the latest Overwatch patch is so disgusting.. literally they’re nerfing not just Brigitte but every hero with armour and recoverable shields due to the new changes

like GOATS is literally the worst thing that has ever happened in Overwatch and they are using Brigitte as a scapegoat. like they are gonna make Brigitte as useless as Mercy while making every other Support hero useless. it’s so annoying because the intention of Brigitte was to be an anti-flank but due to poor game design, she became the catalyst for a meta that has lasted for several seasons and almost a year already

like Overwatch is just becoming hopeless as time goes on. i dont know why they didnt think of just reworking Brigitte but instead they are going to nerf every other tank and support with these dumb changes giving players even more incentive to play a DPS heavy comp like every Ranked game will end up being like Quick Play where no one wants to play Support and Tank anymore

even with GOATS, it’s still hard to find a Tank and a Support player in LFG for Casual Ranked games but because OWL keeps using GOATS, then this happens

it’s so disappointing that this is what Overwatch has become and I dont know how a new hero will shift the meta or make things better at this rate. they really are just focused on OWL. fuck OWL honestly, they really killed the game.. Blizzard really doest know how to balance a game not just for OWL but also the playerbase in mind. a better solution would’ve been having separate patches for OWL and for casuals

or another solution would’ve been enforcing a game law where you need to have at least 2 DPS in a match or restricting triple support and even triple tank that composes GOATS. maybe even a strict 2-2-2 for every Ranked match will just solve the problem of GOATS. then role-queueing where you can solo queue in the role of your choice. sure its an arbitrary rule maybe but it will surely encourage more diverse team comps and still encourage players to play the hero they main rather than being punished for being good at a hero they’re used to

before you criticize Overwatch, realize

-From day 1 (at the blizzcon before Overwatch released) they said lore wasnt a priority, that they didnt even know how they were going to reveal it. their focus is on gameplay first and world building second and personal stories last.

which means: If you say Overwatch is bad because it barely releases any lore you are a moron because its like saying “my meatless burgers dont have enough meat in them”

-Overwatch’s primary focus is on gameplay which MEANS that if there are several hero concepts and one is more valuable to the state of the game (such as doomfist coming when there were to many shields, brigetta when allies were to fragile, or Hammond when they needed more mobile tanks) , that hero will be pushed up the line.

Which means: if you say overwatch is bad because they didnt release heroes based on what fans want for the sake of lore and character appreciation (a nice way of saying ‘shipping), then you are a moron

-Overwatch gives constant hero updates and has reworked several heroes to make them both more fair to play , fun to play and fair to play against. while people will often not like some changes those are usually people playing a hero who is nerfed, who selfishly ignore the perspective of those who DONT play that hero

-So if you think the devs dont care about game balance, you are a moron

-The overwatch team has already created holiday events and skins for every major holiday, which leaves the team to focus on fixes, changes, and new skins, because the base groundwork of the game is settled. They dont need to add any new events because they have major events every 2 months, with each event lasting about a month. giving players a small break between events (and a chance to, if they want to keep playing, gather currency for future skins)

-So if you think the devs have abanoned the base game for esports, despite the fact they are constantly working on new heroes, new maps, and new skins, then you are a moron.

-Professional players always focus on and hyperfixate on changes in the game, it LITERALLY BEING THEIR JOB to do their best to win. that means each season based on the state of the game there will always be  a default strategy. its the same for literally every sport there is. hell even chess has a dozen different main strategies to the point where professionals can say “ah you are using the X defense”  or whatever. Season 1 had Dva,  winston, lucio and mercy in a good place so the primary strategy was “Dive”. Season 2 has Moira and brigette, TWO offensive heroes, so teams have opted in for a more defensive strategy since if they go doing whatever they want they will get fired. one of the top teams in season 1 won against another with a suboptimal comp to prove that a GOOD team doesnt need to play ‘on meta’ to win. However Football, Soccer, chess, checkers, starcraft, all have optimal strategies and any given player will often pick one of the two main strategies

-so if you think the game is poorly balanced just because the current best strategy is defensive, or because professionals who know what they are doing , know its best to stick with what works and alter the plan around that base startegy, if you think that makes the game bad, you are a moron

Audvidis’ Top Five Players Who Should Be In OWL Season 2

so as much as we all don’t want to come to terms with it, owl’s regular season one is  over. all good things must come to an end, you see, and that’s true for all things, even the things we dont want to leave (coughAPEXcough). so, while its a good four months until free agent signing opens for all players (while expansion teams get it much sooner). lets discuss some players not in OWL right now, that deserve some love.

side note, they have to have not been in owl before, so no rascal, hooreg, woohyal, or tizi.

5. Tae-hyun “Recry” Jeong (Meta Athena)

recry’s story is sports-movie worthy. he was once one of the best hitscan players in APEX history, possibly even overwatch itself, known for his mcree and pharah. however, as comps started to move from triple tank/double hitscan into dive, he was forced into a mediocre tracer role, and went from afreeca freecs blue to meta athena, where he was pushed into a substitute role. disappointed with this position, he left meta athena to be a free agent for OWL, but didn't receive any team offers. his hand forced, he became a factory worker in his hometown of ansan, working by day, streaming at night. finally, as dive began to meet its maker, meta athena accepted recry back into it's roster for kr contenders season 2.

it is a fucking crime that recry isn't in OWL yet. he's one of the best korean dps players out there, and he had to make ends meet with dangerous factory work while waiting for offers. i hope sometime soon that we can see him on stage, because it is a huge huge huge waste of potential if it doesn't happen.

4. Randal “Roolf” Stark

many people i’ve spoken to have spoken about their disbelief that roolf hasn’t made it into OWL yet, and i have to agree with them. he is one of the best sub support players, with a history of playing with team canada and cloud9, being nominated for the former twice. i think that OWL deserves to have a top level sub support like him play on stage.

3. Ye “177″ Qianqian

177 is one of the few female players who are capable of making it to OWL, who want to become a pro player (so that cuts out barcode, eeveea, and rammy who either wish not to or don't feel capable of going pro yet). 177 is currently main support for the main Lucky Future squad, which did relatively okay this time in CN contenders, losing to their sister squad LF Zenith.

177 will be turning eighteen either during or before OWL s2, which makes her a legible pick this time around! i think she deserves a spot in OWL, but i worry about people being weird about her (during OW Premiers people were holding up “177 marry me” signs which is relatively okay until you realize she was underage at the time.)

2. Ou “Eileen” Yiliang

eileen is probably up there with diya and leave as one of the best DPS players in china. he is particularly known for his genji and doomfist play on LGD and team china in 2017, and helped lead LGD to the second place spot in OW contenders, losing a close 3-4 game to LF Zenith.

like 177 above, he will finally be eligible for owl play RIGHT AS the free agent window opens for season two. i hope that he’s picked up by a team that can help him shine as much as he has on LGD.

1. Kim “Haksal” Hyo-jun

if you’ve followed ovw esports, you probably know of runaway, one of the best APEX teams, and easily one of the most popular, behind lunatic-hai of course. haksal was 16 when he first started playing with the team, and quickly grew into one of it’s most well known players. his skill with genji is almost unmatched by any other player around, and his dragonblades are immaculate.

this signing period, all runaway players will be eligible for signing. flowervin, their manager, has said that they will only sign on to a deal if every player is accounted for. i pray to god this is their year.
