My thoughts & feeling about the Imbibitor Lunae's recent story leaks, in regards to Renheng / Xingyue & Dan feng himself

i'm pretty sure other folks have made posts trying to piece together the timeline, but even with the actual story sections the events of Dan Feng's sins are still super unclear

Starting with Dan Feng because he's my skrunkly; this dude really thought his power and position made him god-like with little regard to mortals below him while fighting with the HCQ

i know there were past leaks where DF was vaguely described as pretty emotionless and detached. but man he really does not give a shit people with his active detachment BUT the quick gazes & mentioned sharing drinks with the HCQ really makes it seem like DF went from consistent detachment throughout his current & past lives and then became absolutely ride or die for his (new) friends.

I have a feeling that the constant cycle of being reborn & being forced immediately into preparing to be the High Elder, Being the High Elder & caring out those duties, and dying as the High Elder. The cycle keeps going on and on. He probably had no TIME to indulge in normal ass things like friends or any other non-professional social life. But them he meets these 4 weirdos who treat him as just One Of The Guys and immediately comes ride or die for them.

The mask of emotionless & cold detachment comes crumbling down around his new found friends. This honestly probably punches DF in the gut because these sensations are new and wack to him, I love the idea of him being a lil unhinged and drunk on the power of friendship BUT ONLY with the HCQ. the emotional whiplash the people around him problem experience is probably so hilarious because they see him having a blast with his friends and theyre like omg is that the high elder omg i didn't think he was such a party lizard but then IMMEDIATELY goes back into his cold & collected personality the moment someone else interacts with them all. The moment he starts feeling the power of friendship he's like "am i sick? whats happening to me oh my god why does my brain feel like bees" unable to process the emotions trying to reboot his brain constantly like a fucking windows computer. we love an autistic king!

ok this was supposed to a more serious post abt DF & the actual events in the leaked story but my brain automatically thinks of HCQ shenanigans

do i need to say more about "that exceedingly arrogant craftsman" like holy Fucking Shit this is fucking gay. his emotionless detachment in battle & his quick/mostly neutral thoughts about his other friends, but with Yingxing he goes into gay annoyance/admiration mode.

I really wish that Yingxing wasn't a short-lifed species because this whole dynamic SCREAMS slow-burn to me. DF's standoff-ish behavior & genuine annoyance towards YX and his arrogance but it slowly becomes more & more endearing as the rest of the HCQ get him to come outta his "stick up his ass" shell to eventually the realization hits and becomes giddy & drunk on his overwhelmingly intense love for YX and becomes a slightly feral lizard, even in public with the HCQ And giving YX gay gay homosexual gay immortality dragon heart juice would still be a thing with YX dying in battle.

Before I end this, I'll just touch up on the more Depressing events in DH IL's story leaks:

DF's emotional detachment to others & friendly relationship with the HCQ leads him & YX to wanting to carry out some sort of "Plan" which probably involves whatever conversation DF & YX we were able to listen in on at Scalegorge Waterscape (or was DF just sneaking YX into Scalegorge Waterscape so that he could research Vidyadhara craftsman techniques?). But since these are DH's dreams even HE doesn't know whats going on.

my general thought process was: DF & YX are planning something together (making YX immortal?), weird fucking shapeshifting flesh monster is tthere?, YX telling him to commit to a decision, DF having the star & red bloodcell vision (was he glanced at by Yaoshi while trying to use the Dragon heart to make YX immortal?), Then Baiheng comes crashing into to try and stop the monster (why was she THERE?)

it doesn't make sense that Baiheng was the one DF planning to bring new life to. Since her sudden appearance is a surprise to him & YX was only described as wounded but able to protect and use his sword

since these are DH's dreams & fragmented memories. With out the other story beats, could it be possible that the "bury his old friend" and "grant them new life" were two different people? DF coming to grant YX immortality but Baiheng gets disintegrated thus DF buries a friend & give the other new life.

Were missing a lot of context here, did YX later get injured so badly that DF tries to revive him? or was the Yaoshi flesh monster completely unrelated and they HCQ were trying to stop it and beiheng fucking dies? does DF try to bring Baiheng back while having his weird ass blood and flesh vision & things go Very Wrong and YX gets caught in the crossfire, making him into the monster we know today? is that why Blade is always going on about how him & DF have to pay the price for THEIR sins? They tried to bring Baiheng back and committed the greatest taboo and they created something horrible (Baiheng abomination & Blade's immortality?)

I'm gonna try Not dwelling on the details here since we need even MORE context now. This post is getting SO long, i will leave it at that & think more about HQC domestic bliss

ineffable bureaucracy is… real?? like really actually real?? what the fuck?!?!! i thought it was just a crack ship but i guess neil saw it and went huh that’s pretty nice actually because THEYRE REALLY ACTUALLY REAL OH MY GOD. i will say despite being really cute, i thought they were a bit cringe at the end, it could’ve been less lovey dovey because those characters just… aren’t? like that?? but the buildup with them meeting up was absolutely GORGEOUS and so cute and so romantic and just… yeah i love them. i think they probably would have been a bit more awkward / reluctant to admit feelings rather than “baby i love you so much you are my heaven you are my hell my darling sweet beloved” but hey. they were cute. NEW SHIP LET’S GO

nina and maggie were really really cute because of the actresses’ chemistry but pretty underdeveloped in my opinion. still i really enjoyed when they were on screen together, i just had different expectations (i was expecting like a romcom, azriaphale and crowley trying to put them together throughout the season, which was eluded to but then just… didn’t happen i guess). still they were very sweet and i really really liked them

saraquel is great, michael’s hair was terrible, uriel is the hottest character, beelzebub’s new look was cool as fuck, i love the repeated gag of that one demon who just seems to have infinite versions of himself and REECE SHEARSMITH DEMON CHARACTER LET’S GO!?!?!! i was not expecting him to have a significant role again and he was so good, furfur is literally amazing and as an inside no 9 fan seeing him and steve pemberton was soooo much fun

the plot was… odd. every actor was amazing, the visuals were amazing, the jokes were hilarious, every episode was extremely enjoyable to watch… but it just felt a little half-baked to me. every scene was tight and again, really fun, but the overarching plot was kind of…??? i’m not a professional writer by any stretch of the imagination but i’m allowed to have an opinion, and my opinion is pretty damn mixed when it comes to the season arc. there’s obviously going to be a season 3 (i say, literally begging neil gaiman on my knees while screaming and sobbing) and so i think season 2 felt so slow and uneventful because it’s supposed to be a kind of bridge between big plotlines. because so much interesting stuff was picked up and then simply put down again. or kind of just… left to float aimlessly in the air and make me confused as to why and how some of it even happened. but honestly i trust neil and the other writers and creatives so… season 3 here we come! overall i really enjoyed it a lot, but the (modern day) plot was just a bit of a weird one for me

Toying with yet another AU besties because I'm plagued by visions.

Autism just enters hyperdrive sometimes and demands I put my blorbos in even more situations. Rn I'm playing with a vampire hunter AU, something dark and with a bit of angst as per usual.

Emduo being hunters and then one of them (maybe Techno) getting bit and turned. Obviously Phil is absolutely devastated. He's a pretty mean hunter and takes a bit too much joy in killing already but he cant imagine having to put his friend down.

But thats exactly what he needs to do and Techno's asking him to do it. This is where meanza gets shaken up into a more skrunkly form.

Maybe he decides to keep Techno at his house for a few days, just giving him some comfort before eventually having to put him down, Tech kinda settles for it because who wouldnt want things to be normal again so that you can be comfortable before your bestie / father figure kills you because you got bit.

Toss in him getting bit because he was protecting Phil and its even more fun.

Anyway Phil is trying to hype himself up for it but Techno's so easy to just delay and put off that he kinda falls into the groove of things. He gets it in his head that maybe he doesnt have to kill his friend, maybe he can just keep him locked and hidden away.

He brings this up and Techno is obviously not really down for this but they're both desperate and neither really want him to die so they totally start actually thinking about it.

They 'hypothetically' talk it out a few times before Tech stats going downhill a bit. He's not being fed and he has no sire around so stuff isnt fun. Phil panics and goes off to get a vampire. He drags them back and lets Techno feed off of them and its a bit better.

The venom in the blood is just enough to sustain him. This form of vampirism would be less complex than AFN's since otherwise Techno would probably just die because theyre both clueless. So instead its a very watered down version.

Anyway things progress like that for a while and Phil has to bring in actual human bodies for Techno to feed on. He gets over it very quickly but Techno doesnt and usually has to be convinced to actually feed.

Obviously after some time Techno latches onto Phil as his sire despite him not even being a vampire and his morals slip a bit too.

In the end we get dark emduo and its very fun.

I had another one in mind where Phil gets bit instead but because he has spent so long on the field he knows how to take care of himself, Techno is very skrunkly and along for the ride in that one too.

Just clings to his bestie and helps cover stuff up while Phil (a bit too eagerly) starts doing his vampire bullshit. It totally ends in Phil biting him and turning him as well.

technically these are all old skrunkly scrimblos that i just freshened up a little, but they were kinda nothing before so they're essentially new characters with old-ish designs

the context for them interacting is that theyre all in college together. thats pretty much it

luzie: the most mature and dependable of the four, but somewhat mischevious. when things get serious, she's more than ready to lend a hand to a friend in need. however, when things get silly, luzie is usually the culprit, pulling pranks and egging on the best of the worst in her friend group.

aralin: laid back and unflappable. she is often involved with the group's antics, but she's the most quiet and down to earth. while she's not as actively helpful as luzie, aralin is the one everyone else turns to for advice most of the time. her place is the group's preferred meetup spot.

sapphire: despite her meek demeanor, sapph can be the most wild and energetic of the group at times. she has a habit of escalating throwaway jokes into extended bits. she is prone to friendly bickering with melanie.

melanie: the most perky and affable of the group. she's passionate, excitable, and affectionate. she wears her heart on her sleeve, and the rest of the group tends to be highly protective of her, particularly sapphire, despite their squabbling. she's usually the one to organize group activities.

ok considering my icon i know this is sacreligious. but if i knew what kinning was i would have put dipper on my kinlist in 2012/2013. hes just so. hes so. hes just. i find the way gravity falls writes adolescence pretty fascinating - it's deeply flawed in some ways and yet somehow still gets right at the pulse of what makes being a preteen /teenager so hard. i think dipper and mabel's writing exemplifies this the best, and i despite being Mabel Biased, dipper's sheer determination and sweaty nerdisms make him fun to imagine in miscellaneous scenarios. he's great. besides, mabel fits in another category much better...

I know nothing about Genshin but tell me about your favorite one of your little skrunklies!!! the guys on your team idk what theyre called-

okay okay so you can have up to 4 characters in your party (team) normally. sometimes when doing a quest involving a specific character, they join your party as a 5th trial character.

the first person in my team is yanfei (pronounced yehn-fay) and shes a pyro (fire) catalyst user. catalysts are a kind of complicated weapon to explain, but they're typically a book or some sort of orb, and their users have long-range, honing attacks that are infused with their element.

this is what her attack looks like! she's a legal advisor from the city of liyue! liyue is inspired by china, and is ruled over by the geo (rock) archon. they're also known as the city of contracts. because of this, they have a lot of laws, and she's memorized all of them (autism moments). she's also part adepti (the minor gods who can transform into animals that help protect liyue)

the next person on my team is chongyun! he is my comfort character <3. he's a cryo (ice) claymore user! a claymore is just a really big sword. he is also from liyue. he's also canonically disabled! he has a condition known as a 'pure yang spirit', or an excess of positive energy. because of this, he has trouble being around things that warm him, such as the sun, fiery events, spicy or warm food and drinks, and even strong emotions. he always has to wear lightweight and lightly colored clothing to combat this, as well as always carrying popsicles on him to cool him down.

he's also an exorcist, but his pure yang spirit scares the ghosts away so he's never actually seen a ghost. he's technically a great exorcist, but he's also not good at it.

bennett is from mondstadt, which is inspired by germany, and ruled over by the anemo (wind) archon, and is known as the city of freedom. he's an adventurer who has really bad luck, and also many fathers. he has a skill where he can transfer part of his potential damage to any character who stands in the circle cast by his skill, and standing in it also heals the character. he's a pyro sword user

the last spot on my team tends to vary! i replaced beidou with chongyun a few days ago. beidou is an electro claymore user who's also a lesbian pirate. she defeated a sea monster that even the gods couldn't, and she is also from liyue, but sometimes i still bring her out because she's really good when puzzles need electro.

if i need to break a pyro shield, which is necessary for a few bosses, i'll bring out barbara! she's a hydro (water) catalyst user, and she's a nun! she's also like 12, and is the little sister of the ruler of mondstadt. she's also a really good healer.

if i don't have anything in particular i need someone in the last spot for, i'll bring out yun jin just cause she's pretty.

(thats her). she's also from liyue bc almost all the characters i really like are for some reason. she's a geo polearm user, and she's also a professional opera singer! if you want to experience 2 minutes and 43 seconds of pure euphoria, you can check out this cutscene where she sings! no knowledge of genshin is required. it's sung in chinese, but there's an english translation at the bottom of the screen

She came from a very traditional family. At a young age, she learned that women could only be seen as strong if they were masculine, that being stereo- typically feminine (crying/being emotionally vulnerable, liking toys/pink, being maternal and taking care of people openly) would mean that she isn’t strong, that she will never be as strong as a man (very untrue but what you learn as a kid sticks, unfortunately).

So she’s emotionally distant and cold, she doesn’t express open care or affection, because honestly? She’s scared. The big boss, can crush your skull with her thighs business lady who doesn’t take disrespect is scared of not being seen as strong.

Because she knows how hard it is for women to be respected and regarded as strong in their society, that no matter what she achieves, a man would always be held to a greater respect. She wants to care for people, she wants to shower them in affection and gifts and help them with emotions but she can’t allow herself to do that.

She has fears, she has flaws, and she has insecurities, all well being strong and no nonsense. I love her so much. Shes more than just the strong lady character, shes more than that.

She may be emotionally distant and awful at showing she cares, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care. She cares for the people she loves, and she shows that care in subtle ways that could be brushed off as not wanting her workers to die.

By making sure they get proper treatment for any wounds they get, making sure they get a ride home and by making sure they’re safe. She can’t bring herself to say that she cares, but she won’t let people she cares for get hurt.

They aren’t great at being emotionally vulnerable, their partners may or may not know he’s running from the government. He has a big ‘leave before you’re left’ response, he also finds it difficult because he doesn’t want to be sold out again. They try to be a good partner but they need a lot of therapy,,, shame most therapy centers are run by The Watch. Oops my bad.

He lies. A lot. Not outlandishly but its second nature for him to lie, has gotten him in and out of stuff. They find it hard to be open and honest, it’s hard for them to admit anything and that they care.

Caring about people and loving them so fully has gotten the people he loved killed in the past, every person he knows is a pawn in The Watches cruel game, but how are they meant to resist the urge to love when he met the most loveable, sweet people ever? How is he meant to give them up?

He’s running from The Watch, has been for years. He saw things he shouldn’t have when he was around 16 and has been running for 13 years. A shame, just when he was feeling comfortable and finally exploring relationships again, their past just had to catch up with him. A true shame.

Xe is the calm, confident tall person. Xe is the most emotionally mature of the three, god, can you imagine, feeling your emotions in a healthy way?? Wild. but because of that, xe became the therapist friend.

He tries at emotional vulnerability, but he can never quite find the words. He can’t explain things like Crest can or be such a reassuring figure in their lives that a single word could comfort them.

He’s insecure about their relationship, because he knows Crest is stressed and Arthur gets snappy, but no matter what he does, it feels like nothing he does helps. See, the thing is, people can be born into this program. They have recruits and agents, recruits are people who join this program, agents are people born into this program.

So what does it do? Basically, its to catch criminals (and anyone deemed as such), but 

Terms i’ve thought up so far:

(The) Watchers - Highest in command, they run the whole place, been there the longest, they make all of the choices. There’s rarely, if ever, a new Watcher. It isn’t unheard of, though.

Command - Second in command, influences opinions quite a bit. Not as much power as Watchers but still has some control.

Column -‘Columns’ are agents specifically in the role of supporting younger recruits, they are fully responsible for their duckling, and will be punished extra for every mistake their younger recruit makes

Duckling - Ducklings are just younger agents, referred to as such because they are to follow their column everywhere

All i’ve thought up so far, but to be fair i only had this idea like yesterday. Fuckin speedran this bitch. also more characters will be made as i expand on this idea!
