Savanna Squad Presentation Night Headcanons/mini fic [1/3]

splitting this into three headcanon parts because my god its long

Ashlyn's POV

So the question is: How did we get here? Simple answer really. Taylor. She was always the one to suggest these kinds of things, team building hang outs, though last time it was just us.

The rest of the boys had plans. Tyler had practice to attend, one of the late kinds, Ben and Logan had a project together due for bio in a day or two, and Aiden, for some reason, had a late dentist appointment (much to his dismay). Only Taylor could make it to the graveyard early. Initially, we were just meant to manage our resources, which was manageable with one person, but it was always easier with other people to bounce ideas off of. That's all it was meant to be, but Taylor had other ideas.

"Girls night!!" She had cheered, and we just hung out.

And I had fun.

But as Logan fights with his laptop to mirror on the T.V for the presenters, that being us, I can't help but feel like I'm going to regret this one. Especially with Tweedledee and Tweedledum in the background yelling about something that I don't want to know about, but will probably learn against my will.

Just as Taylor and Ben come downstairs with blankets and pillows, Logan's T.V finally projects the wallpaper of his laptop.

"It's set up, thank god," he sighs, with that last part being under his breathe. And as we set up in his living room, Ben dragging Aiden and Tyler from the kitchen, both with bags of snacks in their arms, and Taylor handing out blankets, we finally sit in our places.

The next question, however, is Who goes first?

Taylor Hernandez

Taylor goes first because she's the one who planned it and was the most excited about it. Aiden tried to go first, but it was collectively agreed that he would be going last for no reason other than to piss him off lmao

Anyways, we love a STEM girl (be still my own heart) so her presentation would be all about her tools and work for the mechanics club. She takes this club seriously, not only because it's good for networking, but because she genuinely finds it fun. I like to think that there are two levels to the club where one is just a standard club and the second level is a competition team, and she was shooting to be a part of the competition league (totally not projecting because I'm a robotics kid)

Her presentation is so well done. It's not only really well organized, but it is just so pretty. It's the type of presentation that teachers would drool over. Avid Canva user b/c it has a lot of customization options that she loves.

What's a toolbox tour without the actual toolbox that's just as decorated as her slideshow. And she takes care of it, too.

Her presentation is so fun and sets a fun tune for the night, and she manages to make this topic really engaging. She would have a little quiz at the end, too, where if one of the group gets a question correct, they get a piece of candy

shows off tools like she's filming a makeup tutorial, I saw this on tumblr, and it's just canon at this point. No criticisms are accepted because it just isn't possible.

Group's reaction

Ashlyn and Ben are the ones who pay the most attention to the presentation. Ashlyn also gets the most questions right at the end of the quiz.

Logan asks the most questions in between slides, but not in an annoying way. He does get a bit lost, though, considering just how many tools there are.

Tyler and Aiden are still bickering a bit. Aiden can't sit still for the life of himself, but he swears that he is listening. Tyler would say otherwise.

Aiden is, though, and he ends up getting Taylor a really nice tool set that she mentioned she wanted when presenting just because he can. He is her favorite for a few days. He absolutely would have a shit eating grin looking at Tyler to just say, "See, I was listening :D". Tyler would then say that he could go fuck himself /hj

Logan Fields

Logan is next. The laptop hates him, and it's old and shuts down multiple times in his presentation. The group then had to watch this man fight with a busted 4-year-old laptop and lose several times. Have you ever seen your parents fight with a printer the night before you have a school project due? It's like that, and the rest are concerned.

He is an astrology bitch, and I will take no criticisms. But like, not in the way that it controls his life, he would not be caught dead saying that the stars told him to do something, like not let him eat alfredo on Sunday or something like that. He's more interested in the concept itself since the idea of zodiacs have existed for so long. Its his comfort research topic.

Absolutely went HAM on researching each and every one of their birth charts. Ask him to show you his notes, and he would not show you. Why??? because he took up an entire notepad (it's one of the smaller ones but still).

"Logan's so innocent" "Logan's so sweet" "My boy can do no wro-" NO!!!! THAT MOTHERFUCKER WILL READ YOU TO FILTH AND I STAND BY THIS. ITS LIKE HE LOOKED YOUR SOUL, UP AND DOWN, AND EXPOSED IT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE (something tells me Tyler gets it the worse. idk why it just feels right)!!! If he feels like something doesn't fit one of the people in the group he is clear about it

"Here is Gemini, a social butterfly. Here is Ashlyn. A Gemini. I love Ashlyn, but like a year ago I have actually seen you jump a fence to avoid a group of people who go to our high school without thinking, and I would say that needs an intervention but you'd also avoid it by jumping a fence." "..."

The presentation itself is long as hell. Like he goes in depth about everything that he talks about, and if you interrupt him, he will shoot you with a spray bottle. Did I mention there's a group spray bottle? Guess why they have one.

Somehow, he is still only the second longest presentation.

Group's Reaction

Taylor is his biggest hypeman. I feel like she'd also enjoy astrology a bit, too, though she's more of a casual fan. She is also one of the few people who is free from Logan's jabs.

Ben is also free from his jabs because he helped him with the laptop, which, thank god, because Logan was about to lose it. I don't think he really believes in astrology. The most he knows is his sun sign on the surface level. He is invested, though.

Don't think Ash is very interested in astrology either, and at some points in his presentation, he just loses her attention.

Tyler gets sprayed at least twice with the spray bottle because he gets defensive. Surprisingly, I do think he would be somewhat interested and knowledgeable about his star signs at least, mainly because he had to deal with Taylor when she went through an astrology phase (let me tell you it was brutal).

Aiden is also interested and engaged in the presentation, but maybe a little too much. What I mean is that he interrupts at points and is the reason why the spray bottle exists. Logan is flattered, but istg Aiden if you interrupt this man one more time...

By the end of the two presentations, the group is in pretty high spirits and having a good time, despite the fact that two of them are a bit wet.

"..."

Logan's laptop, however, is not, and just as they were setting up Ben's powerpoint, it decides that it was a good time to perform a mandatory update and restarts.

Absolute silence.

You could hear a pin drop.

And all eyes go to Logan.

"..."

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!"

Long story short, the presentations have to be postponed for around an hour and forty-eight minutes (maybe you never know with computers), and Logan is taking a walk.

Prompt: so many things got pilled up so you're unable to sleep properly for the last days, and morpheus decides it has been enough.

Tw: anxiety, trauma(?, fluff, comfort.

Its has been a hell of a month, maybe even a hell of years.

You'd haved never had a peacefull life, but lately life seems harder than ever, days feel longer and even more tiring, that not even the soft carress of my lover seems to erase the frown on my face.

Morpheus, dream, my love, he has always helped me feel normal, calm, wanted. So i cant help but feel guilty of being so distant from him lately, knowing full well he always tries to help me in any way he can.

But i cant really help it, can't i?

Work has been anything but gentle, with the amount of late doing work i have, im almost restless, not really taking breaks ethier.

Morpheus was anxious, scared even, he knew your work was tiring but this looks extreme.

Its been days since he saw you in your dreams before youd woken up a few hours later, and even in your own dreams you looked exhausted with dark eyebags and a marked scowl on your pretty face

So he had enough

Everyone has bad days so he though youll be okay in a few days, but it has been weeks, so he decided to visit you when he finally had time to. As this not only worried your fisical state but your mental state too.

He remebers years ago when youll end breaking down in his arms, telling him how you couldnt go on like this in tears.

He'd never wish to see you so sadly lonely again, it would personaly pain him too much.

So after he had remotily finished his work he was running to see you.

You where comsuded by another work fit at 3 am when you heard a knock to your aparment door, in confusion of who might be visiting, you shouted a wait to the door while stoping your work and rushing to the door*

"Who is it?" You move your hair to look more presentable trough your stress.

"Its me dear,-" at hearing his voice after so much time you open the door without second thougth, not letting him finish his phrase, seeing your certain tall, blue eyed lover.

"-morpheus." He chuckles at your eageress to see him, but quickly noticed your tired look, unsurpsingly.

"My dea-" "morpheus!, what are you doing here?, so late... is everything alright?" Your voice quickly changes to worry while you question the reason of his visit.

"No, no, dear, everything its okay i just..." he sighes before saying "missed you, we havent seen eachother in a few weeks and i have noticed you havent being coming to the dreaming a lot ethier" he finishes while coming inside as you opened the door more for him to come in.

"Yes i- i have been busy lately, im sorry love, i think i didnt realise we havent seen eachothee in that much..."

"Theres nothing to be sorry about my dear, i know you're stressed, i want to help you" he notices the amount of work in your desk "and its quite late too, you need rest, and love. come on to bed now" he holds your arm to the bedroom.

"B-but morpheus! Theres to much to fini-" "no, to bed now, tomorrow youll finish your chores, when you're well rested"

You sigh giving up, as you cant convice the dream lord of anything especially about your care, and because the offer didnt sound so bad.

Morpheus gides you into bed before turning of the lights in the office, going to laid with you and give you your well needed rest. He goes to hold you as you get more comfortable next to him, already feeling sleep taking over you while feeling dream kissing your forehead and rubbing your head as you cuddle with him.

Before you knew it you were magicly falling asleep in your lovers embrace, feeling some beat of calmness in a long time, before hearing some soft whispers of your lover, knowing youll get some enticing dreams tonight

"Sleep well my love, ill see you in a moment".

Ooh, it's time to ramble about robots!

So I've been thinking about this for a minute and a crossover I think would be interesting is one between Prime and Earthspark. Because up until Predacons Rising, the Transformers of Prime are completely incapable of creating new life outside of cloning. No building robot dinosaurs, no errant Allspark fragments to bring new life into the world, no sparked protoforms waiting to be found by either faction.

As far any of the earthbound Transformers know, they could be the last of their kind.

But then here come these five young - so, so young - Transformers, all brought to life after the war ended. All from a world in which Megatron, the bot who poisoned Cybertron to core in Prime, called the war off. Team Prime probably wouldn't believe it at first. They'd probably think the Terrans' Megatron is playing the long con.

And that's if the Terrans had ended up in the Prime universe. If an Autobot from Prime ended up in Earthspark's universe, could you imagine how much of a trip that would be? Transformers are a known entity to the human race, the war is over, Megatron is working with Optimus and humans. You'd have to wonder if they'd be tempted to stay, just for a little longer.

And yeah, they definitely would see that ES!Earth isn't all it's cracked up to be. They'd see the way Bumblebee and the Terrans are in hiding, or how the rogue Decepticons are forced to fight for scraps in Bot Brawl. And if the TFP gang falls in with ES!Optimus and G.H.O.S.T., at least one of them would find about G.H.O.S.T.'s experiments on the imprisoned Decepticons. It would probably start a debate about whether or not to stay and help the poor bastards before going back to their world.

This is more of an observation than anything else but obviously everyone is talking about how different Allison was this season, and all the stuff she did, whether or not it was justified or not, blah blah blah. I’ve seen a lot of people saying the writers did her dirty, that it came out of no where, but like. One of the things that Umbrella Academy really brings out it human nature. Arguably none of the siblings are “good people.” Yes, she acts differently this season, but with what she has lost and some of her previous behaviour, is it really such a stretch that she snapped?

I don’t agree with any of her actions, but I’m honestly more surprised more of the Umbrellas didn’t break down like she did, now and when they had lost people (Diego and Eudora, Klaus and Dave, Viktor and Sissy, etc. etc.). They are also all unstable to varying degrees, and I could see any of them doing the same, really.

It’s not that she deserved to say those things to Viktor, to murder Harlan, to r*pe Luther, because she didn’t and they were fundamentally wrong, but that it isn’t a surprise that she, or just that any one of the siblings, did. I’m sure that plenty of other people would also go crazy if in her position, especially her siblings, some of whom have anger issues, most of whom have lost someone, and all of whom are majorly fucked up already.

That being said, I do understand why the writers decided to have her in particular have a villain arc. Not only did Allison lose her husband and CHILD, she also lost her life. Before the first apocalypse, all the way back in season one, she was easily the most successful. She had wealth, a career, and seemed generally happy with her standing, giving her debatably the biggest stake in the apocalypse, where most of her siblings had little to really lose (by that I mean, they could start over, not that they had no stake). She lost all of that as well. She did horrible things as a REACTION to this, even though they were morally very wrong.

Though this was different than who she was last season, and I was sad about not being able to like/root for Allison, it’s not entirely unrealistic.

This is a very controversial topic right now so this means no harm to anyone, please let me know if you have thoughts or corrections :)

Lone Star Writers: Carlos A major apology,couples therapy and postponing the wedding? Tim Minear: Owen is going to be too busy fighting Nazis to help TK rescue Carlos from the serial killers so the fans will forget about being pissed at Carlos and turn their rage at Owen instead. Lone Star Writers: ...Serial killers? As in plural? And did you say Nazis? Tim Minear: Yes. Lone Star Writers:Sure. OK....Moving on. What will Marjan, Paul and Mateo do while this is happening? what if, instead of roshani just killing aiden off and reviving him with no consequences, she’d brought him back, but, as a side effect, he forgets everything about the otherworld, including aru.

after getting revived, he wakes up to the potatoes shouting his name, confused as to who they were. the moment they realized aiden didn’t recognize them, they were crushed.

cut to the epilogue, it’s in aiden’s pov and he wakes up from a nightmare. he doesn’t remember much about it, but he recalls a pretty girl with shoulder length hair and chestnut skin sobbing his name. he’d never seen her before, but she was just so…familiar. it was unnerving.

he decides to take a walk to get his mind off of it, and he finds said girl on a park bench, sniffling and sitting with her head between her arms. hearing him approach, she looks up, tears streaming down her cheeks. her eyes widen as she sees his face, although he’s not quite sure why.

aiden, realizing who she it and, not quite sure what to do in a situation like this, blurts out,

“i saw you in my dream!”

both parties blush at the statement and an awkward silence ensures.

she sniffles and wipes her eyes.

“you don’t know who i am, do you?” she asks quietly, voice quivering.

he shakes his head, unsure of how to respond, instead opting to sit down in the spot next to her.

“i’m sorry. i feel like i should. i can’t seem to remember a lot of things, lately.”

there’s a long beat of silence between the two, neither quite sure what to say, or how to say it.

“let’s start over,” aiden finally says, extending his hand.

“i’m aiden acharya. i’m 16 years old, and i love photography.”

the girl laughs, the sound coming out as a wet hiccup. she takes his hand.

“aru shah, 15. consumer of swedish fish, eater of oreos.”

aiden snorts, shaking arus hand firmly and wow her hands are soft. he lets himself hold her hand for a moment, relishing in the familiarity of it all, before suddenly and somehow gracefully getting up from the park bench, nearly dragging aru with him.

“pleasure to meet you, aru shah,” he says, kissing her knuckles. aru blushes and then laughs, mock curtsying.

“the pleasure is mine, aiden acharya.”

thomas opens his car door, stepping out and into the warm, california air where he and brendan lived in the off season.

he had to travel back to montreal for a wedding, and brendan couldn’t come because of prior commitments, much to both of their dismays. being apart from each other for 13 days was extremely hard for the both of them.

thomas opens the door, hearing the sound of brendan’s distant voice coming from the office. he hears something slam, and brendan’s sobs fill his ears.

he rushes toward the office, frantically opening the door to try and see what’s happening.

brendan is laying on the office couch, head in his hands and sobs are wracking his body.

thomas is by his side in a second, reaching for brendan’s hands and whispering soft words to his fiancé.

brendan latches on to thomas, gripping his shirt while his body shakes.

“bren, you’re okay. i gotchu, i’m not gonna let anything happen to you mon beau. look at me mon chéri.” thomas let’s his french accent slip out.

brendan’s watery eyes meet thomas’s, and brendan leans forward, touching their foreheads together.

“i got you.” thomas stares into his eyes. “now can you tell me what happened?”

“it’s my dad. he called again, he wants to talk about when i take over the agency.” brendan let’s a tear slip down his cheek, and thomas is quick to wipe it away with his thumb.

thomas sighs. this is a conversation they have quite a bit, pat refusing to give up on getting brendan talking over the company when he retires.

“but i don’t want to. i’m not good at it like he is. it’s not fair i’m just expected to walk right into it. i should get to do what i want.” more tears stream down brendan’s cheeks.

“i know mon amour. do you want us both to sit down and talk about how you feel with him?“ thomas runs his thumb over brendan’s knuckles.

“no, no.” brendan answers abruptly. “it’s my thing, i should be able to deal with it myself.”

“bren, we’re a team. it’s you and me. we do things together, both of us.” thomas meets brendan’s eyes.

brendan leans into thomas, sighing softly and murmuring how he’s right.

thomas smiles, leaning forward and catching brendan’s lips on his own, to which brendan deepens the kiss, and cards his fingers through thomas’s hair.

Wow what an episode for Kacy. Truly amazing, I loved it, personally I always enjoy all the drama and the angst, and this episode definitely delivered.

Now if only Lucy would listen. Like I’ve realized they’re both bad at communicating but Lucy does not listen to Kate at all, or to put it better she doesn’t even let her speak, she constantly shuts her down, and the moment the conversation gets serious she has her walls up and proceeds to run away. Now this is obviously because she is hurting, but I feel like a lot of the issues in their relationship could’ve been solved if she just let Kate talk and explain her side of things. She can’t just blurt out all her feelings and then going “don’t say anything” like?? This is not how conversations works.

And it would be better for her as well, she’d find peace and healing if she was willing to just listen. I’m not saying she has to forgive her but a conversation goes both ways, if she wants to talk to Kate about things she also has to be open to listen to whatever Kate has to say, the Kahuna helped but she clearly still has unresolved feelings and a lot of anger and hurt.

Now this is just my interpretation but I think that a lot of Lucy’s hurts comes from the fact that she was all in into this relationship but she got burned in the end, thinking she was a side piece she might have assumed that what they had wasn’t as important to Kate as it was to her, which we know it’s not true, but she doesn’t because she is not hearing Kate out. Prime example is the “I loved you”, she dropped a huge confession and didn’t even let Kate reply, maybe bc if she heard “I loved you” back her resolve would’ve crumbled? Who knows.

I really don’t believe Kate was being dishonest by not mentioning the promotion, we don’t know for how long she knew, but in the end it was about her life and her job, so it’s up to her when to tell Lucy, she said she wanted to but things went downhill and she lost the chance to do it, makes perfect sense, I bet the promotion was the last thing on her mind when the Cara mess happened and after the break up there was no point telling her anymore.

To me Lucy got all worked up about the promotion because it made her realize that to Kate she meant so much she was willing to give up a job in DC for her, and it was a huuuge (maybe feeling a little overwhelmed, not expecting it at all?), it would have allowed them to truly build something, her frustration comes from the fact that now it’s too late and she can’t do anything about it, because as she said Kate ruined everything, it made her think about what they could have had but went lost.

Now our poor girl Kate, she got a cracked rib and her heart broken once again, I loved her expression when Lucy told her she loved her, like she was so surprised, but also happy and hopeful for a sec right there, she truly did not see it coming, but I genuinely believe she wanted to say it back, maybe it gave her the hope and the push she needed to try to win her girl back. These two idiots truly had no clue of the extent of the other’s feelings, they’re both madly in love but didn’t seem to realize it was mutual lmao

Some highlights of this episode I enjoyed among this emotional mess, first of all their banter in front of the ambulance, Lucy being all bossy was so cute, and their little jokes in the bullpen, I do think they love seeing each other’s smiles (they’re so soft🥺) and Lucy beating the sh*t out of the woman who hurt Kate, like she was mad mad and it was cool af. Also can we talk about the fact that Lucy finally dropped Whistler’s name??? Like she called her Kate, I could not belive it, and made it feel so personal and real, it hurts. It was so so good.

The end of this season is approaching, we have two episodes left but since Lucy is still very much in pain, I do wonder how things can go in the finale, because they still have A LOT to work on, and after what we’ve seen I’m not sure a ‘grand gesture’ will be enough to fix things. To me it wouldn’t feel earned and realistic that for Lucy an ILY/grand gesture from Kate, would be enough to forget all the pain and get back with her, it just doesn’t feel right to me. Rather than a public love declaration they really need to talk about everything, being honest and from there decide what they wanna do, if they’re willing to try again or not.

The songs are a banger, which I think Spy would appreciate a ton. I have a soft spot for the artist in Scout, so he'd be amazed by the fluid 2d animation and replay the movie just to study the art of it.

As for the plot, I think the relationship between Spy & Scout lowkey parallels with that of Kala & Tarzan, so they'd resonate with these characters the most. (Like Kala & Spy protecting their sons from the truth)

idt they slept 2gether in 7x19/7x20. the every 6 months or so is prob abt last time they slept 2gether b4 she got pregs. wk they slept 2gether in 7x04 & maybe more after that bc adam told kevin “we hung out a couple of times” & wdk how much time pass each eps. 7x19/7x20 they were both still sad abt miscarriage & wouldnt want to risk getting pregs again. kim said to adam “dont wk better than this” in 8x05 bc last time she got pregs. she wouldnt have said that if they slept 2gether in 7x19/7x20.

So I did the maths on this timeline, because I am an idiot and ridiculous in the best way. Here’s as close as I can get to an approximate timeline between 7x04 and 8x05. Again, this is the Chicago verse and they hate good timelines but here we go.

7x04 - sometime roughly early September. It’s still warm enough for tailgating in Chicago, and that football season started September 5th that year. The Bears played at home on September 15th to the Broncos, which would fit right around when we know this would have kicked off. It was also their first home game of the season, explaining tailgating. The crossover ran the space of three days I think? Based on people changing clothes? So Kim and Adam slept together some time around the 18th/19th

7x05 - picks up nearly immediately because in Adam and Kevin’s conversation about the coffee you cannot tell me that Adam Ruzek is not stride of priding through work. I’m sorry, you can’t. The man is oozing “just got laid”.

7x08 - Kim finds out she’s pregnant. She’s told she’s about four weeks, which puts this at the end of September/start of October. Pregnancy is counted from the date of your last period, so four weeks pregnant tends to mean it’s two weeks since conception. Considering the way it’s gotten visibly colder in the “Jay’s missing” episode, I’d go with first week of October.

7x11 - Kim’s had the first sonogram, and judging from the sonogram images we’re hitting right around nine, ten weeks of pregnancy, so mid November and two months since they slept together.

7x13 - Kim says the baby’s the size of a naval orange. According to thebump.com (yeah, I know, but this is the sources I’ve got), a foetus is the size of a naval orange at around fifteen weeks, putting us at the start of January or so. Which makes sense based on the weather, and that Kim isn’t looking as exhausted as before. We know from 8x13 that she really struggled with morning sickness, and generally around week 12/13/14 is when that stops.

7x15 - we can fairly firmly place this to early/mid February. The weather, the fact that Kim’s back in work and her visible injuries are healed, she’s been gone for about a month. Plus the way she and Adam have the fight? He’s been working and attempting to cope, but she’s been at home thinking.

7x16 - the hockey tickets. This doesn’t definitively place everything, but it’s probably coming into what would have been the tail end of the season, I’m comfortable marking this as late February/early March (from here the pandemic is fucking up my timelines but they treated the season like the end happened in April so I’m doing that too)

8x03 - this is roughly November/December, we can see it based on the Christmas decorations in the back of the upstead kiss. Adam says they go to the same bars, they don’t see anyone, they don’t date anyone, so I’m pretty comfortable saying they slept together at least once while they were covid bubbling. They both ostensibly live alone, it made sense to bubble together.

8x05 - I’m calling this for January. There’s no Christmas stuff up, it’s clearly cold out, and even without the snow you can tell it’s chilly. We know it’s about a month since Makayla’s cousins took custody too.

In 8x05 Kim says “so is this part of our relationship now? We’re accepting that every six months or so we sleep together?” It’s been at least eighteen months since they slept together in 7x04. It’s nearly a year since she lost the baby. Kim Burgess isn’t going to say “every six months or so” if it’s not at the very least a pattern. Maybe it wasn’t around 7x19/20, but they definitely did sleep together at least once between then and 8x05, and I will say that till the end.

I want to believe Suzie and Dustin are endgame but you’re right. There’s a lot Suzie doesn’t know about Dustin’s life and her being religious. Suzie felt super guilty about changing Dustin’s grade so we know she doesn’t like to lie or keep secrets.

Since their relationship is long distance there’s a lot Dustin can keep from her. I’m not sure Dustin would tell her the truth about things because she probably wouldn’t believe it or think it’s somehow related to Hell and Satan.

There definitely could be some relationship drama between them since we didn’t see any interaction after the changing grade thing and her getting in trouble with her dad.

The long distance thing could be an issue and there’s a lot they need to talk about between them. If they do decide to stay together I can see them going to college together.
