• Many people in Inazuma know of your professional relationship with Kamisato Ayato, as you had practically stayed by the young lord's side since he was a child and you a freshly turned vampire. You were bound by contract, you'd be given free access to feed on the fauna of Inazuma in exchange for ensuring Ayato's (and in the future, Ayaka's) safety, or else you'll be sentenced to death, so you didn't really have much of a choice.
• There was one strict rule that you also could never break: you were never to feed from a Kamisato, it was a last resort from the late elder Kamisato to make sure you didn't try to backstab them in any way, and while it was a thorn in your side at first, as the years went by you didn't even give it a second thought. Always disappearing in the night to feed from local wildlife or an unfortunate treasure hoarder.
• Much like you, Ayato also never paid it any mind, relishing in the peace that you brought to him, his family and his household. He had nothing but praise for you, always so willing to listen to his every command and be at his beck and call, he never really took the time to truly wonder what it would feel like to be fed from an individual who lives off blood, as he was always busy with one task or another.
• Your first meeting with Thoma went smoothly, after introductions were made you had the pleasure of showing him around the estate, murmuring your own tips and tricks on getting along with the other workers and the guards as well as telling him that if he were in any kind of trouble to call for you, you'll be there as quick as the Shogun's lightning.
• Poor Thoma may have thought you were joking at first, not thinking too hard on it while he was in the city doing some shopping when he spots something he thought you would enjoy, and after a mumble of your name to himself, he's nearly scared out of his skin when you literally appeared next to him, hand ready to draw your sword at the apparent threat. You're puzzled when you look around, taking in the frightened and confused faces of Thoma and the shopkeepers before you relax and help the trembling housekeeper to his feet, casually dusting him off and remaining by his side while he finishes his errands. Thats the day Thoma found out you're a vampire bound to the Kamisatos.
• You're there when Thoma evolves from a fledging to a respectable worker, watching him form bonds and connections that were simply too complicated for you since the citizens of Inazuma saw you in a more intimidating light than the gentle housekeeper of the Kamisato estate. You werent too bothered by it, you were meant to be threatening and intimidating anyway, whatever helped keep your employers safe, you would pretend not to hear the rumors of the "Kamisato Monster".
• Working with Thoma has been rather refreshing, he was the bright bubbly personality that brought light into your seemingly gloomy existence, as all you've ever known was to obey orders and survive. He was the bridge that connected you and a deeper part of the Kamisato siblings, the line between professional and friendly becoming too blurred to make out until it dissipated entirely and you're now being called upon simply to hang out or be involved in events (you'd actually be given free reign to enjoy said events instead of stand stiffly beside the head of the Kamisato Clan).
• Ayato doesn't know what to make of the feeling that rises in his chest every time he sees you with Thoma, whether in the garden chatting idly or in the city. He knew that your loyalties lied with him and his sister, but he still couldn't stop the growing feeling of jealousy when you're smiling so openly with his housekeeper, regaling him with tales about your undead life that even he didnt bother to know about. That pang of posessive jealousy prompted him to call for you more often, keeping you busy with little mundane tasks like rubbing his shoulders or telling him about your childhood, tell him what you were like before you were turned.
• His inquiries shocked you, if your blood were still pumping through your veins you'd be flushing at the notion that he actually wants to get to know you better, for once he actually wants to get to know you as a person and not see you as just a loyal vampire. You find yourself seeking his company out when he doesnt request your presence, bringing your walls down little by little until he's known pretty much everything Thoma knew, and more. Thoma is excited for you, clasping your hands in his to congratulate you on your growing friendship with Ayato and the simple mention of the word has tears rolling down your smiling cheeks, you never thought you'd see the day your employers become your friends.
• Your friendship with Ayato would eventually become questionable when he caught Thoma mid yawn while sweeping the estate one evening. It wasnt uncommon that the housekeeper would lose a little sleep due to work, but the sight of a healing bite mark on his neck made Ayato's blood run cold. Once again, the shock of jealousy courses through him as he casually asks about the injury. "Oh, this? I gave y/n permission to freely feed from me if they become too tired to hunt. They just kinda took a little too much last night, heh". If Ayato were holding anything in his hand it would have snapped under the vice grip of his clench, smile never wavering as he dismisses Thoma to search for you instead. No amount of hydro would quell the fire that was burning in the pit of his stomach.
• You're changing the bedsheets in his room when he bursts through the door, startling you. "My Lord? Whats wrong?", you tilt your head in confusion, watching as he marches up to you and forces his thumb into your cheek, pulling the skin painfully back to expose your fang, his other thumb hooks into your lower jaw, pulling it down so he can get a clear view of the red that was still staining your teeth and tongue. The look in his eyes was dark as he took in the sight, ignoring the way you were whimpering in his hold, fingers grasping as his wrists yet not making a move to pull him off you, whatever Ayato wanted to do to you, you'd allow it. A few seconds of staring go by before he finally releases you, crossing his arms over his chest to furrow his brows. "So you fed from Thoma? Why's that?", his tone is cold, its the same one you've heard him use to representatives who hit a nerve. You saw the way they would shudder and tremble under its authority, the same way you shivered and felt a chill run up your spine as you rubbed your aching cheek.
• "Huh? He gave me permission... sir", you clear your throat, anxiety rolling through you in waves. Did you do something wrong by feeding from Thoma? You weren't aware that you couldnt feed from him, he wasn't a Kamisato after all so it shouldnt have broken the one strict rule that was enforced on you. Ayato studies you, lavender eyes going from your parted lips to your eyes and back while he gathers his thoughts, the silence only making you want to shrink more into yourself, fearful that you ruined all of the hard work put into getting closer to him. Realization flashes through his eyes for a split second before his face returns to its emotionless state. He takes a step closer to you, you take a step back. He takes a second step closer, you take a second step back until you stumble, falling back onto the plush covers you just laid out on his bed. "M-My Lord... I implore you, I haven't done anything wrong", you can feel the tears in the corners of your eyes, fear paralyzing you while Ayato continues to prowl closer, climbing over you so his face was inches away from yours. "The only thing you did wrong was not ask my permission to feed from me."
• Fear morphs into confusion as you take in his words, studying the look in his piercing gaze. The clouds fogging your mind seem to clear right then and there, the dawning epiphany that Ayato was viciously jealous melts the icy sensation of fear into something more primal. "But... My Lord... I'm forbidden", you whisper, eyes locked onto his while your fingers clench onto his bedsheets. He scoffs softly, hand coming up to pull his collar away from his skin, exposing more of his neck to you. He smirks finally, watching the way your eyes immediately train on his pale skin, how your pupils dilate with desire, bottom lip pulled inbetween your teeth. "Your Lord Kamisato Ayato commands you... to feed from him".
• You moan against his skin, hands pulling him impossibly close while you slowly gulp down mouthfuls of his blood, you had never tasted nectar so delicious in your entire existence. Ayato groans softly above you, face beautifully flushed while his bare hands explore your body, fingers running along every curve while his hips rut against your own, the venom in your bite making his head spin with lust. He takes no notice in the way his blood drips from your chin, or the way it stains his pristine suit, all he's focused on is getting your clothes off you as soon as fucking possible. You whine when he gently pulls you off him, warm blood being replaced by his warm tongue instead as he kisses you deeply, pulling your pants off you and practically tearing your underwear off while you fumble with his pants, trembling fingers struggling to undo his button. He pulls away from your lips with a chuckle, replacing your fingers with his own so he can quickly unbutton them and pull them down just enough to free himself from his restraints, a groan of relief making you shudder with need.
• A whimpering moan is ripped from you when he bullies his cock into you, thrusting shallowly until he bottoms out and stills for a few moments, allowing you to latch back onto his neck so you can continue to feed. You can barely swallow anything with how he sets a vigorous pace, pounding into you. Your screams and moans are muffled through his skin, biting down harder and eliciting a moan from him. He pushes your knees up, allowing him to push deeper into your walls and you finally pull away from his skin with a cry of his name, eyes unfocused. He fucks the jealousy out of his system, eyes never leaving your face, determined to commit your expressions to memory. "Thats right, only I can make you feel like this, ngh... From now on, ah, you're to feed from me only-hah! Is that understood?", he growls, the grip on the back of your knees bruising as you nod dumbly, eyes beginning to roll into the back of your head. "Y-Yes! Ah—yes, M-My Lord!".
• The next time Thoma sees Ayato, he's shocked when there's a bandage on his neck covering the bite you placed on him the previous night. "My Lord, are you alright?", he worries, brows knitting together at the implication that he somehow got hurt, even though it should have been practically impossible with you around. "Worry not Thoma, I gave y/n permission to feed from me, since you seemed to be out of it yesterday. By the way, they'll be coming to me for feedings in the future, so you don't have to worry about that either", Ayato smiles at Thoma, satisfaction practically radiating from the hydro allogene. "Is that so? Thank you for letting me know!", Thoma bows slightly, relieved that you'll have a stable source of blood here at the estate instead of having to go out and hunt. He begins to walk away before pausing at the sound of his master's words. "Oh, could you also bring some fresh sheets to my bedroom? We made a mess last night, be sure not to disturb y/n, they're still resting" .

Let You Go
Notes from the crypt: Found this in my wip collection and decided to finish it, it kinda corresponds to an idea I had so I guess we can consider this a prequel to that idea. I'll be adding another chapter to this so look forward to that! Edit: Chapter 2 here
Tags: GN!Reader, angst, themes of betrayal and abandonment, Aether named as the traveler, terrible description of a fight lmao, hurt/comfort from an unlikely place
Summary: You stood too close to the pyro that was Diluc Ragnvindr and got burned, didn't they tell you that ice melts?
Tumblr media
“I’ve got you… Aether”
You jolted upright in a cold sweat, heart pounding and pants escaping your lips while you took in your surroundings. The moonlight filtering through the curtain provided little light to the basic room you were provided, yet that did nothing to ease your nerves from the nightmare you just woke up from. Mind alight with activity, you can still see the look in Diluc’s eyes when he abandoned you, when he chose to save the traveler and left you to rot. Gritting your teeth in anger, you throw your pillow across the room with a frustrated scream that turned into sobs while you curled in on yourself, ignoring the door opening and the footsteps approaching you.
You waited years for him, and he didn’t even hesitate to leave you to die. You didn’t blame him, for as long as you knew him, Diluc Ragnvindr was always closed off about his emotions, rarely choosing to let his walls down around you. You first met him when he was a fresh Knight of Favonius, full of a fighting spirit that inspired you to try and join also. While he was off doing knights business, however, you were often stuck reading grimoires and practicing magic with your mother. You attained your vision rather early, around the same time Diluc did, and while you did want to join the Knights of Favonius, your mother had convinced you to begin your journey on spellcasting and witchcraft instead, a tradition that’s been passed down for generations in your family. It was a decision that wasn’t without its rewards however, as you were still asked to visit the Knights headquarters on behalf of your traveling mother to assist them in matters once you had become more comfortable with your craft. You’d been pleasantly surprised when you were teamed up with Diluc, it gave you the opportunity to break the ice and really get to know the young redhead, and sure enough a friendship soon blossomed. It almost became normal that you joined Diluc on escort missions or even helped him with stealth missions, you even saved his ass a few times when you both were ambushed. You two were unstoppable in the battlefield, with his fighting skills and your magic, Jean was pleased every time you two returned either unharmed or not seriously injured. Diluc opened up a little more to you, even introducing you to his brother and his father after inviting you to dinner at the winery. It was an experience you’d never forget, the echoes of laughter and playful banter still playing in the back of your memories, memories of simpler times. With time, you and Diluc became inseparable, it was rare to see him without you and vice versa, you two had made a spot in each other’s lives after all. You were often the one who would knock on Diluc’s door at the knights headquarters with goodies in your hands, convincing him to take a break from paperwork and just relax with you, but it also wasn’t uncommon that Diluc would seek you out in the library to drag you outside and get some actual sunlight because you’ve been in there since last night now come on so we can eat. Crepus gets a kick out of seeing you at the winery almost every day, your hand tightly encased in Diluc’s and he doesn’t miss the way his son’s eyes were avoiding his and a faint blush was blooming on his cheeks. Crepus had loved having you around, you were good company to him and his sons, and he would be a liar if he said he didn’t appreciate your magical help in the grape fields. Little by little you made an impact on Diluc’s life, and the line between friendship and romance was beginning to blur, it was only a matter of time before either of you began to wonder if it was normal for friends to look at each other as if they’re the only person in the world, with adoration in their eyes.
It was a revelation that came a little too late while you ran with Kaeya towards the broken carriage that was holding Crepus and Diluc. Just moments before you were sitting in Angel’s Share with the three men and the knights, a chorus of congratulations and good wishes to the redhead that was recently promoted to Cavalry Captain. You still wonder if you could have somehow helped saved the elder Ragnvindr if you had joined them on the journey back instead of sticking behind with Kaeya. That night was full of anguish and put a huge wedge in between your friendship with Diluc, as he had pushed you away too when you had only tried to help. Still, you waited for him, the years that he had spent away from the city of freedom you waited for him, using your studies as a distraction until he returned. You welcomed him with open arms and a wide smile, but you could still feel it, the wedge that’s still uncomfortably lodged. You ignore it however, resigning to start to chip away at his walls little by little again, you’ll wait as long as you needed to, for him. You still visited him at the winery, trying to catch up on the years you missed as well as helping tend to the grapes, you can’t help the momentary feeling of hurt when you used a magical trick to water the fields all at the same time, it was a trick that Crepus loved. You’d also visit him at the tavern on the days you knew he’d be working, sitting at the bar sipping on the latest concoction he’s come up and giving him your honest review. You were seriously thinking things were starting to look up, until a blonde traveler stepped foot in Mondstadt, and you ended up being expelled out of both the city of freedom and Diluc’s life. Aether was a sweetheart, his soul shined brighter than anyone you’ve ever seen, always ready to help those in need. His ambitions were clear, he wanted to find his sister no matter what the cost, and you respected that. Much like almost every person he’s met since arriving on Teyvat, you told him you were simply a call away if he required your assistance, and you thought that was that. You weren’t expecting Diluc to latch onto him so quick, nor were you expecting to see his walls crumble before the outlander but still stand strong before you. You learned to be observant when you picked up your family’s craft, sharp eyes were needed to pick up messages from unseen forces after all, so you didn’t miss the way Diluc acted much differently with Aether than he did with you, he acted the same way his younger self did when he was with you, all smiles and disguised compliments that made your stomach coil in jealousy. Your requests of apple cider turned into shots of liquor that made even Charles watch you with worry, a question he knows he shouldn’t ask at the tip of his tongue, yet you push aside those feelings and continue to wait until he’s ready.
Months after catching the attention of a certain wine tycoon, Aether had asked for your help with one of his commissions, it detailed that a magic user would be able to uncover hidden tracks that elemental sight could not perceive, and since Lisa was too busy to attend, you were the next best option. Your heart swelled with momentary pride of being relied on, but that flame was quickly extinguished when Diluc appears moments later, claymore sharpened and ready and a shocked expression matching yours.
“What are you doing here?”, there’s a hint of irritation in his voice that makes your brows furrow, a lump forming in your throat that you try desperately to swallow.
“Oh, I asked them to accompany us! Their magic could help us a lot”, Aether responds for you, still as cheerful as ever before he’s heading towards the city gates. Diluc looks you over with a blank expression and you don’t know whether to cry or return it with a dirty look before he’s catching up to the traveler, taking his place by his side. Defeated, you follow behind the two, blood boiling with a mix of emotions over what just happened and also being the third wheel, months of little to no contact and that’s the first thing Diluc says? You’re second guessing if you even wanted to join at that point, but since it was Aether asking for your help then you had to power through. Thankfully you could distract yourself by casting a simple spell to reveal these secret tracks to you, moving in front of them so you could better guide the men to where they could lead. You tried your best to ignore the whispering and giggling from behind, blinking away hot tears that threatened to obscure your vision, your already fragile heart shattering when you hear the unmistakable sound of a kiss followed by Aether giggling. By then you had reached a cliff overseeing a small beach on Stormbearer Point where the trail seemingly ends, and you realize that it was a set up. Turning sharply on your heel, you take the men by surprise when you used a burst of magic to separate them just as a pyro agent turned off his cloaking to swipe at the air where they once stood. He takes a second swipe at you just as you activated your vision to block it and within seconds, he’s become invisible again, prowling for an opening to strike. Eyes darting around, you count the heads of Diluc, Aether and the other two fatui skirmishers they’re currently in combat with, the mix of visions making it hard to see the outline of the invisible enemy, yet you feel frozen in place, hesitant on who’s side to rush to. Your hesitation didn’t go unnoticed as the pyro agent materialized by your side once again, closer than you could anticipate and your scream rips through the air when he slices your side open, the scent of blood invading your senses and making your head spin. You didn’t have a chance to think when you’re forced on the ground after a scorching blade slices along your back, the pain leaving you breathless and writhing. You can still hear the sounds of fighting in the air, lifting your head weakly you witness Diluc’s burst, the magnificent phoenix knocking the skirmishers he and Aether were fighting off their feet so he could rush to the blonde’s side.
“I’ve got you, Aether”, were the words you could barely make out coming from the man who was cradling the traveler so closely to him, and your breath hitches when his red eyes met with yours. His expression was unreadable, even as you use what little strength you have to reach out to him, the pieces of your heart only continue to shatter when he turns around and runs, leaving you helpless at the mercy of the Fatui. You spent years waiting for him, loving him for who he was and prepared to spend every waking moment of your life by his side, and this was how he repays you. He didn’t hesitate when you screamed his name, the hurt and sadness you feel morphing into anger as you screamed until your head felt light and you plopped it back on the ground to stare at the sky, waiting for either the Fatui to finish the job or blood loss to finally take you. You closed your eyes when the pyro agent entered your field of vision, praying to Celestia that wherever you go next may you live a better life before losing consciousness.
You jolted upright in a cold sweat, heart pounding and pants escaping your lips while you took in your surroundings. The moonlight filtering through the curtain provided little light to the basic room you were provided, yet that did nothing to ease your nerves from the nightmare you just woke up from. Mind alight with activity, you can still see the look in Diluc’s eyes when he abandoned you, leaving you to die in favor of Aether. Gritting your teeth in anger, you throw your pillow across the room with a frustrated scream that turned into sobs while curling in on yourself, ignoring the door opening and the footsteps approaching you. Your sobs die down to sniffles while a hand ran through your hair, another pair of hands working to gently undo the bandages on your torso, the pulling of the dressing making you hiss and lift your head from your knees to glance at the hydrogunner legionnaire that somehow gave you a sheepish look from behind his mask, using a little bit of hydro to ease the pain.
“Stay still, little lamb”, you hear the gruff voice of the pyro agent by your side, his fingers in your hair moving to wipe away the tears you’ve shed, almost in an apologetic way. It’s been days since you were taken by the Fatui, they were surprisingly more merciful than you gave them credit for, witnessing your abandonment and choosing to save you since a certain redhead refused to. You initially thought that they were going to use you as ransom, but the way they carefully replaced your bandages and made sure you had a hot meal made you think otherwise, the revelation that you may already be pronounced dead in Mondstadt making your shoulders shake, fresh tears stinging your eyes.
“Hey, none of that… You’re safe now, the Tsaritsa always takes care of her own”, the legionnaire pipes up behind you while he applies fresh ointment on your back and replaces your bandages with fresh ones. The anemo vanguard stands awkwardly beside the legionnaire, large hands serving as the makeshift table for the tools used to help your wounds heal. Always takes care of her own, the statement echoes in your mind while the skirmishers finish up and leave to discard your bloodied bandages, leaving you with the agent that was adamantly wiping your tears away, hands cradling your cheeks.
“Whats going to happen to me?”, you whisper, tired eyes moving up to meet with his mask. He’s silent, head tilting slightly in contemplation before he removes his hands from your face, and you find yourself missing the warmth.
“The Tsaritsa gave you a gift, its time you reached your true potential, little lamb.”
Epitaph: This piece can also be found on AO3. I wanted to wait until the end to disclose that we do have a cryo vision lmao sorry for those who wanted to pop in their hcs of what vision they'd have, but its vital for where I plan on taking this story. The fatui characters will also be given names in the next chapter so I dont have to keep writing legionnaire and vanguard and such. Can I also just say how down bad I am for pyro agents??? I still haven't completed that one quest in Sumeru where you follow one shkdljd

Let You Go Ch. 2
Notes from the crypt: welcome to chapter 2, I'm unsure if I want to continue from this, I may do a spinoff involving the harbingers and reader, but for now I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I hope you all enjoy! Chapter 1 here
Tags: GN!Reader, angst, descriptions of violence, Diluc cries HAHAAH, lots of blood, some mentions of gore
Summary: You're sent out on your first mission outside of Snezhnaya, it's totally gunna go according to plan
Tumblr media
Words cannot describe the immense guilt Diluc felt when he heard your piercing screams cut through the air while he ran away like a coward. With Aether half-conscious in his arms, he only had one choice to make in the toughest battle of his life, and something tells him you’ll remember this betrayal, perhaps haunt him in the future. The only thing he can do is mentally beg for your forgiveness while he brings Aether back to Mondstadt, safe to say the mission was a failure since a party of three left and only he and a gravely injured traveler returned. Words cannot describe the guilt that pools in the deepest pit of his soul when he voices that you were slain by the Fatui, and he had no choice but to retreat. The guilt morphs itself into a distressed Kaeya that’s screaming at him in the middle of Dawn Winery, his tears mixed with the anger he felt after finding out you were left to die by the actions of his brother, you who had made such a huge impact on both of their lives, casually sacrificed like lamb to slaughter. The guilt turns into a great pain that forces him to his knees, reduced to a sobbing mess while Kaeya details every moment the pyro allogene has ever spent with you, how obvious his infatuation was with you before Crepus died, and how he was able to just easily throw you away for a traveler he doesn’t even know half of as much as he knew you. Mondstadt held your funeral where you were last seen, the rain washing away the dried blood on the grass where your body once laid, a grim reminder to Diluc of the sins etched in his soul. He lays a flower on the mound of dirt meant to represent your body, a body that could never be recovered, a body he could have helped save if he wasn’t selfish. Many mourned you that day, a god, and his many disciples, and as you watch the snow fall in Snezhnaya, you can feel their pain, feel their guilt.
“Agnellino, stop squirming”, the pyro agent, who you learned was named Dmitri, huffed while he fiddled with the straps of your uniform with an excited you unfortunately inside. Today marked 1 year since you were graciously taken in by the Fatui, the Tsaritsa welcoming you with open arms and a promise that you will get your chance at revenge, she radiated nothing but power and warmth despite being the archon of cryo. Through that entire year you went through rigorous training, honing your skills and learning better fighting tactics than what the knights or even Diluc could have offered, it’s almost insulting how little you learned from them. Faster than they could keep up with, Dmitri along with the hydrogunner legionnaire and anemoboxer vanguard (who were named Sasha and Vadim respectively) watched you rise through their ranks until you proved yourself worthy enough to gain the Tsaritsa’s attention, and you were dubbed her Honorary Harbinger, it almost sounded stupid if it didn’t include killer perks. As her Agnellino, her little lamb, you were essentially her eyes in the shadows, your sharp senses and magical prowess were essential when dealing with potential threats inside and outside of the Fatui, if anyone outside of the first harbinger wanted to get to her grace, they’d have to go through you first, and you bite. Your excitement was immeasurable as you were finally given the opportunity to leave Snezhnaya after all of your hard work, you practically vibrated in your uniform while Dmitri gave you a final look over, Sasha and Vadim giving you a thumbs up when you strike a pose.
“You remember which pocket your dagger is in?”, Dmitri murmurs in front of you, smoothing out the fur collar along your coat as you grin wildly at his mask, nodding gleefully. You had personally requested that the trio assisted you in getting ready for your departure, given that they were the first ones to rescue you, you wanted them to be the ones that sent you off. It was almost bittersweet, remembering how they saw you bloody and screaming on the ground one year ago and now here you were, a part of the Tsaritsa’s secret arsenal, squirming excitedly like a puppy allowed to play outside. Vadim chuckles at your energy, large hand resting on top of your head and ruffling your hair so much it looked like you just rolled out of bed.
“Be careful, lap dog”, he snickers, laughing when you groan at the nickname and swipe at his hand, expression going from annoyed to fond. Silently, you gave them each a hug, giggling loudly when Sasha held you a few seconds extra before you’re called away to be put on a boat, happy smile slowly turning sour when you go over your orders; you’re being sent to the Mondstadt branch to purge the fatuus that were planning to abandon their post. Your excitement twisted into anxiety every time you re-read the name of the nation that left you to die, correction – of the nation that houses the man who left you to die. You wonder briefly what his reaction would be if he were to see you walking around very much alive, its unfortunate you don’t plan on strutting into Angel’s Share to satisfy your sick desire to watch him crumble. While your mission is simple, it’s important that you stick to the meticulous plan laid out for you, the timing in which you arrive is crucial to deter suspicion to your person, the less fatuus that know you’re there to personally handle traitors in the name of the Tsaritsa, the better. As such, you went over the names of the diplomats who were to receive you and escort you to Goth Hotel so you can gather the latest whereabouts of the pests and get to exterminating. It was a few hours until you arrived at your final resting place, yet it seemed to go by much quicker than you expected, your heart dropping when the boat slows to a stop and the other recruits began to filter out, leaving you one of the last few to get off. Stepping foot on a sandy terrain, you feel the breeze flowing through your hair, smell the salt heavy in the air, and see the stars shining bright in the night sky. You recognize the beach to be Falcon Coast, just outside of Mondstadt, even being this close to the city makes your hands begin to sweat, your heart pounding in your chest so hard you’re afraid it may burst through your sternum. Under your coat, you’re fidgeting with your delusion, it was a habit you picked up after her grace personally gifted it to you, while it gave you a new side of power, it also helped ground you when you became trapped in your past, the same past who’s windmills were currently staring at you over the treetops.
Your steps fall heavy as you follow between the two diplomats who were escorting you to the city’s gates, each step bringing more tension in the air, an awkward heaviness hanging between you three. The diplomat to your left coughs into her fist as you approach Swan and Lawrence, your escort kindly explaining your visit to the city of freedom just as you look beyond the gate to see the streets full of people, a festival in full swing.
“Understood, we welcome you, strange yet respectable guest!”, Swan salutes you, and as you send him a curt nod you notice that he’s staring a little closely, as if trying to pinpoint where he might recognize you from. Before he could put the pieces together, you’re already walking behind your entourage into the crowd, who were unfortunately swept away by the flood of bodies, leaving you to stand by yourself and play Where’s Waldo in the middle of the plaza. You seem to be a magnet for bad luck when you spot a familiar eyepatch sitting at Good Hunter, the Cavalry Captain throwing his chair back from how quickly he stood up, startling Amber and Lisa. One blink, however and you’re gone, but he isn’t about to let you slip away again, spotting the ends of your coat he makes chase, your name falling from his lips only to be lost in the noise of the festival. Kaeya quickens his stride, trying to catch up to your fleeting figure that seemed to move fluidly through the crowd. Cursing inwardly, he takes a leap forward to grab your wrist, holding it tightly and leading you into an alley away from the hustle and bustle. Trapping you between his arms, his eye stares hard at the familiar face he mourned one year ago, the same face he screamed to his brother about after finding out you had perished. You stare back up at him, expression blank, the light didn’t seem to reach your eyes, yet you looked almost inconvenienced by the sudden detour, as if you weren’t face-to-face with one of the names you’ve known since childhood.
“What’s wrong, Captain? Fatui got your tongue?”, you break the silence, a smirk breaking through your blank stare that has a chill running up Kaeya’s spine.
“You…”, before he could mutter anything else, his head turns sharply at the sound of a shout outside the alley, one of your lost diplomats having caught him in the seemingly scandalous position.
“Unhand them before I report your mistreatment to your Acting Grand Master!”, the diplomat practically growls, stomping up to the Cavalry Captain and prying him off you, ushering you away from Kaeya with murmurs of ‘are you alright, Lord Harbinger?’, and ‘how dare that brute lay a hand on you, the Tsaritsa will know of this!’ leaving him speechless, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. Harbinger? Just what did you get yourself into? He steps out of the alley to watch your other diplomat appear out of the crowd, frantically apologizing for losing you before you’re falling back into step behind them once again, not sparing another glance at him. He feels nauseous, he was sure that you were just a stranger with a very familiar face but when you spoke it was as if he was a young boy again playing with his brother and you, his best friend. He braces a hand against the wall beside him, feeling his knees buckle under the revelation that you were here, you were alive, but you were in the hands of the Fatui, and only Celestia knows what happened to you after the day you supposedly died.
“Where are they now?”, you lean over the table that holds the information of your next targets, your coat hanging off the chair you politely declined as you didn’t plan on lounging around for too long, wanting nothing more than to get this mission over with and disappear since you’ve been spotted by Kaeya, and no doubt he’s gone and blabbed to Diluc so your time is very limited. Readjusting your gloves for the third time since arriving at the hotel, you nod along to the confirmed locations of one of your targets, the second supposedly already hot footing it to Liyue, which is honestly just irritating.
“Lord Harbinger Tartaglia is already aware of the other traitor, and is on standby should you fai- “
“I’m going to give you the chance to think of your next words very carefully if you value the head on your shoulders. Have a ship ready for my departure in Liyue, it seems I have a few ghosts still lingering in the city of freedom”, you turn away from the shaking fatuus, you weren’t upset that she was assuming you’d fail your mission, you know the taste of failure, you were upset that your first target was hiding out somewhere near Dawn Winery, the one place you were hoping you didn’t have to be around. Leaving the hotel, you use the bustling crowd to your advantage to leave the city, wondering if Kaeya was already informing Diluc of your resurrection since you didn’t spot him in the crowd, the thought that they could both be at the Winery set your nerves on fire. To save time you tune into the powers of the waypoint outside of Mond, using its many portals to reach the Statue of the Seven outside of Dawn Winery, your breath hitches when you see the lights are on in the building, evidence that there’s activity.
“Alright, no big deal… In and out, just like Dmitri showed you”, you murmured to yourself while you walked along the trees, according to the intel your first target made the mistake of holing himself up in one of the houses near the winery, thanks to the scouts that collected the information for you ahead of time, you knew which house the poor soul was locked in. Opening your wind glider after jumping off the cliff, you’re startled at the sound of a door being slammed opened in the distance and the sounds of yelling following, adrenaline coursing through your veins when you barely spot Diluc and Kaeya stepping outside of the winery in a full heated argument. It’s hard to make out what they’re screaming about, but you’re not about to stick around and find out, landing beside your target’s house and going straight to work in picking the lock. With the clock ticking, you fumble with the lock, cursing to yourself when you mess up once or twice before thinking fuck it and kick the door in, at the same time you hear the screaming in the distance stop and be replaced by a much louder shout of the frightened fatuus you’ve come to collect.
“N-No, please!! Have mercy!!!”, the man screams, cowering in a corner while you rush at him, dagger at the ready. His screaming only made your heart pound faster, no doubt the brothers are on their way to see what the commotion was, seconds ticking on the clock while you straddle the traitor and thrust your dagger right into his ribs. He’s thrashing against you, blood curdling screams ringing in your ears that only add more fuel to the flames, within the blink of an eye you’re pulling your weapon out of its meaty sheath and digging it right back into his neck, severing his jugular enough that his hot blood squirts onto your cheek. You barely register the sound of approaching footsteps, too enraptured in the gurgling sounds of your dying prey as his movements slow underneath you, his last attempt at fighting back being his hand dragging down your face, smearing his blood further along your cheek and neck. Retrieving your dagger from your target’s neck, you stand and exhale slowly before turning to see the horrified faces of Diluc and Kaeya standing by the front door, a heavy silence occupying the air between you three and your latest kill. Diluc is stunned, he wasn’t sure what to think when Kaeya suddenly burst through his door shouting something about you being alive, he was sure that his brother was just drunk out of his mind and missing you, but to witness you actually take the life of another in cold blood and stand before him as if it were just another daily task was making his head hurt. You’re alive, living and breathing before him and all he feels is guilt and regret for leaving you behind when you needed him most, words can never describe how sorry he was for the unfair actions he made against you.
“y/n… I”, he stutters out, hands clenching beside him but you’re already pushing past him, bumping against his shoulder forcefully. He flinches, sharing a look of shock with Kaeya before he’s hot on your tail, running up behind you to grab your arm and turn you back around.
“y/n, wait! Please, let me explain”, his voice cracks, tears already beginning to well in his eyes after he feels how warm your arm is, how alive you felt. His heart stops when you press your dagger against his neck, the tears rolling down your cheeks a stark contrast to the hatred he sees in your gaze.
“Explain? What’s there to explain, Diluc? Your actions did enough explaining when you tucked tail and ran with your precious Aether, who by the way I haven’t seen at the festival in Mondstadt today. Pray tell, where is he now? You two bunking it up in the winery?”, you all but snarled at him, the trembling grip you held your dagger a clear indication of the rage you’re currently feeling. Diluc swallows hard, embarrassment flashing in his features before he closes his eyes to share his shame.
“He… Left for Liyue… A few days after we held your funeral…”.
A wave of emptiness washes over you when he spoke those words, the grip on your weapon lost as your arm falls back to your side, dagger falling to the floor. So, he left you behind for nothing. All those years you spent sticking by his side, all thrown away for a traveler who ended up moving on to the next nation. You could have seriously died, and it still would have been for nothing. Diluc’s tears were flowing freely now, he realized long ago that everything he put you through was also for naught when Aether approached him to inform him that he had to move on, he still had to find his sister. He was living with the guilt that you had died by his foolish actions that didn’t even bare any fruit, but now that you were here, maybe not all is lost.
“I’m so sorry, y/n… Im so sorry”, Diluc drops to his knees, head hanging low as he continues to chant out apologies, trembling hands gripping onto your pant leg like a lifeline. In another lifetime, you would have forgiven him, brought him into your arms and kiss the tears away, but actions have consequences, and you’re tired of making up excuses for him. Tears now dry, you pull your leg out of his grip, a sick surge of amusement coursing through you when he chokes out another sob, fingers desperately reaching for you.
“The dead can’t forgive, Diluc… You’re going to learn that I too, can fight fire with fire”, to emphasize your point, you extend your hand out towards the house and using your delusion, it became engulfed in a beautiful blue fire. The sudden flames took the brothers by surprise, enough for you to use your vision and freeze their feet to the ground so you could make your escape, breaking out into a sprint and ignoring their screams of your name, their begs for you to come back. You hate the way your heart still aches for them, how deep down you desperately want to return to a simple life with them, but the times have changed, and they didn’t deserve to be given a second chance after wronging you. Reaching a waypoint, you once again tap into its power to reach the entrance to Liyue Harbor, just in time to see Tartaglia struggling with your second target who was thrashing around in his grip. Fueled by an unspeakable rage, you sprint towards your target and tackle her to the ground, straddling her lap and punching her repeatedly. Tartaglia watches, seeing the blood collect on your fists and face and listening to her screams turn into gurgles and then become nothing at all. He had to literally pull you off before you ended up punching a hole through her skull, whispering reassurances in your ear, and holding you tight against him while you collected yourself, sniffling loudly and whimpering.
“Hey, hey… Relax, I’ve got you, Agnellino…”, Tartaglia keeps a firm grip on you, half concerned that if he let you go, you’d just go back to letting your frustrations out on a target that’s already gone, at least you finished your mission. Wiping your bloody hand against your equally bloody cheek, you pull yourself out of his grip to face him with a tired look, earning a chuckle from the 11th harbinger.
“Long day?”, he snickers, ruffling your hair affectionately. You scoff, looking over at the Millileth stationed at the entrance who were beyond horrified at the open display of murder you just committed. You’re sure Tart will be able to explain to them why you did what you had to do, and even if you ended up being banned in the nation of contracts, it wouldn’t bother you in the slightest.
“You could say that… Can you take me to the boats now? I’m homesick”, you mumble, reaching out to grab onto the end of his coat, even while covered in blood you never failed to make him melt.
“Sure thing comrade, hey, we still gotta talk about that rematch by the way”, he’s talking your ear off the entire way to the pier, using his scarf to wipe off as much blood from your face and hands along the way until he’s helping you board the next boat back to Snezhnaya and waving you off, a slight tint on his cheeks. To say you’re exhausted was an understatement, your head ached, you’re sure you’ve bruised your knuckles and as you stare out at the ocean during your journey back home, you jolt at an important memory.
“Shit… Dmitri’s gunna be pissed I lost his dagger…”
Epitaph: this piece can also be found on AO3. Surprise! you have a pyro delusion lmao eat your heart out Diluc, blue flames are prettier anyway. I thought of doing a spinoff of the first fight you had with Childe if anyone is interested, it's either gunna be really violent or really sexy, idk yet LMAO I wanna thank everyone who has given the first chapter SO much love, I honestly wasn't expecting it to blow up like it did lol I hope this second chapter lives up to its reputation, I had a lot of fun doing this piece!

Headcanon Series - Genshin men with the knowledge that you're a vampire: Diluc
Notes from the crypt: Henlo! I wanted to try my hand at headcanons, so naturally I started with Diluc. This was done on mobile so it may be a little short, but I will be doing more genshin men with this vampire series, so feel free to comment who'd you like most to see.
Tags: gn!vampire!reader, implied sub!diluc, small angst to smut? Nothing detailed unfortunately but heavily implied. Vampire bites
Tumblr media
• Probably the least surprised, he's seen Dvalin and learned his nation's god is a regular patron of his tavern, so vampires? Wouldnt phase him.
• In Angel's Share, he'll ask if he needs to accommodate his drinks so you can enjoy them, as in if he needs to actually add blood to your bloody marys.
• Has thought about offering to become your blood bag, but blushes furiously at the thought of you chomping down on his neck and going to town, so he's still yet to ask.
• Doesnt pry into your past, how you were turned or how you hunt, but will intently listen if you tell him anyway, even if you are slightly tipsy and rambling your entire life's history to him. Imagine his surprise when he learns you've been trying to survive off boar blood among other animals, and the question of using him pops back to the forefront of his mind.
• Its a question that didnt take too long to answer after he finds you being ambushed by enemies while on his way to Dawn Winery one night. You were outnumbered and clearly losing, most of the blood he's seeing coming from you, he didnt want to think about what would have happened if he didnt jump in to help, finishing off those who dared hurt you before catching your falling figure in his arms.
• His heart breaks at the sight of you, covered in the same blood you're losing, words slurring as you struggle to keep your eyes open. Diluc panics, picking you up and rushing off to his home so he could dress your wounds to stop the bleeding, praying to Barbatos that he's not too late to save you. You're still fading in and out of consciousness on his couch when Diluc realizes his mistake: you need blood. Its much too late to try and find a boar for you to feed, and he'll be damned if he left your side. Swallowing hard, he tears his coat off and unbuttons his shirt to expose his neck before gently sliding a hand under your head to guide your lips to his sweat coated skin.
• His heart pounds in his chest when you dont move, and he whines softly as he whispers pleas in your ear to take from him, please drink his blood. A gasp is ripped from his throat when you suddenly latch onto him, like predator to prey and he can feel it, the pain mixed with pleasure that makes his head spin.
• He's shocked for all but a second when you find the sudden strength to flip positions, with his back now on the couch all he can do is gasp, whimper and moan while you take your fill sloppily. You growl against his skin, clawed fingers practically ripping the rest of his shirt off in a feeble attempt to bring him closer so you can have more of his intoxicating taste. For someone who doesnt drink wine, his blood can only be compared to a fine brand you once drank a couple hundred years ago, the taste was addicting, much like the man below you.
• Before you could take too much, you pull yourself off with a wet pop. Panting, you look down at him to see what could possibly be the most fucked out expression for a man who hasnt even been fucked yet. His cheeks are as red as his locks, eyes half lidded and filled with filthy desire, and you're almost worried you took too much from this poor soul when his fingers run through your hair and he starts to grind his hips against yours. Its a normal reaction for most people who have been fed from a vampire, its something you're used to, but you werent used to Diluc pulling your head down to crash his lips against your bloody ones, moaning into your mouth while he licks his blood from your fangs, shuddering at the metallic taste that keeps you alive, keeps you by his side.
• Needless to say, the next day when Diluc was working a shift, he ignores the stares at the bandages on his neck while he serves you your usual bloody mary. You're smirking at him fondly, giddy with the knowledge that underneath his black attire were more bandages covering the other bite marks you placed on him last night, along with the love bites you gingerly placed on him when you didnt use your fangs.
• After that, he's sure to inform you that if you need blood to come to him, no more boar blood. He's also sure to passive aggressively tell you that you'll only come to him, he'll be available anytime, just for you. He left out the part where he wanted to be the only one who can experience the incredible sensations during your feed.

To Have Loved and Lost
Notes from the Crypt: Hullo, I like to write stuff. My latest obsession has been Genshin, and I'm a huge sucker for angst so I hope you enjoy. Edit: Chapter 2 now out
Tags: GN!Reader, angst, cheating
Summary: Something is wrong, and it took you 2 months to find out what.
Tumblr media
It started with week 1 where you first observed that Diluc’s lingering touches on Jean mimicked the same ones he gave you. The way he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear or squeezed her shoulder when they’re in deep discussion regarding Mondstadt’s safety. You never missed the way his hand would touch the small of her back when he was walking with her through the crowded streets of the city, with you acting as third wheel behind them. Once you even saw him rest his hand on her thigh when you and your boyfriend were having dinner with Jean and Kaeya at Good Hunter. Though it was quick, your keen observation was quicker.
Week 2 Diluc left you a note saying he wasn’t going to be home for the next x days and to not wait up for him. It would follow up with an explanation of how he was going on a mission with Jean, and you started to grow suspicious. You didn’t want to think too hard about them, you thought deep in your heart that he truly loved you and that the mission was surely to fight monsters or the abyss order to further keep Mond safe. You pushed down the dark feeling starting to eat away at you and decided an evening of self-care was in order.
By week 3, Kaeya noticed how stressed you were, with you juggling your work along with this new burden on your relationship with his brother. He can’t say he didn’t try to help when he went to the tavern during a shift Diluc was working and tried to use his charm to get him to at least see things from your perspective, only to be cut off early and kicked out. He thought how odd the entire exchange was, normally when it came to concerns involving you, Diluc would have dropped everything to make sure you were well taken care of and not, well, neglected as Kaeya suspects is happening.
4 weeks in, Kaeya suggests you take in a change of scenery, seeing as your current predicament is starting to affect your health. It took a lot of convincing but in the end, you decided 2 weeks back in your hometown of Inazuma should help you get back into the right mindset. In the past you were stuck outside of the nation, being in Mondstadt the day the decree began, and the nation had closed off entirely. Kaeya knew how much it had affected you; he was the first person who came across you after news broke out, and he was one of the people who helped ease you through your darkest moments following the decree. No one had any idea how long the nation would have been in solitude, and for you that meant you would never see your closest family and friends ever again. At least, until the traveler came to Teyvat and seemed to fix one nation’s problem after the other.
Following the abolishing of the decree, you felt a tremendous weight lift off your shoulders, grateful to the traveler for saving your nation. Of course, you made sure to return as quick as possible to check on everyone near and dear to you, but by then you had established a relationship with Mondstadt’s wine tycoon, having spent time with the Ragnvindr brothers and Jean after all. After reassurances of future visits, you return to the city of freedom for what you thought was your fairy tale ending, unaware of the nightmare ahead. Bidding farewells to your friends in Mond, you were personally escorted by the Calvary Captain to the boats of Liyue, where you were then shipped off to Inazuma so you could finally relax.
Weeks 5 and 6 were spent catching up with old friends. You were relieved when you first learned of Gorou and Itto’s safety following the overturn of the decree, and from then the three of you would make it a tradition to meet up at least once a year for the infamous hotpot game Thoma had once introduced you. Though he was often busy, Thoma would somehow still find time to spend with you, especially since he thought it was funny how he was a Mondstadter stuck in Inazuma and you were an Inazuman stuck in Mondstadt. You make sure to make your rounds along the island, catching up with the Yashiro commissioner and his sister, the peppy fireworks master and even visiting the Grand Narukami Shrine to chat with Yae Miko. You even pulled a fortune slip for fun but felt a cold chill run down your spine when you pulled a Great Misfortune, your thoughts immediately filled with Diluc and Jean. As quick as they came, you again push that feeling aside, you came home to stop worrying, why waste all that effort now? Before your trip came to an end, you made sure to take part in the upcoming festival, any previous lingering thoughts forgotten while you made special memories with your special friends.
Upon your return in week 7, you opened the door to the winery only to find your boyfriend is very much balls deep in the acting grand master. The very thing your gut was trying to warn you about and here it was, manifested. You froze, taking in the trail of clothes leading up to the couch and their shocked faces, clearly, they both forgot that you were to return today. You wouldn’t be surprised if they had forgotten about you altogether. Ice filled your veins, you wanted to scream, to scream about how you had suspected them of flirting with each other behind your back, you wanted so badly to tear into them about their lingering touches and lovey dovey gazes, but your mouth didn’t move. All at once, the pair were scrambling to cover themselves, telling you that it wasn’t what it looked like, that there was an explanation, but you were preoccupied in turning on your heel and walking away from the scene. You heard a shout of your name, and you broke out into a sprint, you didn’t care where you went but you had to get away away AWAY.  The more shouts you heard the faster you ran, the wind seeming to guide you to the city, thankfully since your vision was too blurry with all the tears you were shedding. Even after you crossed the entrance gates you didn’t stop, the adrenaline keeping you going until you ran into a body, taking them with you to the floor. With lungs full of air, you finally let your voice be heard in a flurry of pathetic sobs, clinging to the person you full body tackled, uncaring of who it was. To Kaeya’s surprise, he wasn’t expecting to see you so soon, sure he was aware that you had returned from Inazuma but because of how late it was, he was expecting to see you the following day so he could ask about your adventure. To see you in such a state could only confirm his suspicions of his brother having an affair with the acting grand master.
He had his suspicions for a few weeks now but didn’t think to act on them until your trip to Inazuma, where he could use the time to tail Diluc and Jean and attempt to get any information. At first it started out with him tagging along with the duo, from inviting them for drinks or to get food to even awkwardly interrupting their pseudo dates when he saw them both around the city. In the 2 weeks you were gone, he had noticed how Diluc and Jean would act much closer than they usually did, almost like a couple. At one point Kaeya had to watch from the sidelines to witness more acts like this, like Diluc bringing Jean flowers or how Jean would leave the city with what appeared to be an overnight bag on more than one occasion. It was clear to Kaeya that the pair were harboring feelings for the other, but to do it while he’s in a relationship with you? He never thought his brother would stoop so low. With the information he’s gathered, he was thinking of a way to break the news to you gently, the last thing he wanted was for you to walk in on their affair, but it breaks his heart to see he was too late, as you had done just that and was now crying in his chest, your form trembling in his arms.
“D-Diluc…. A-And Jean…!”, you hiccupped, and Kaeya pressed his lips to your hair, shushing you gently while he rubbed your back.
“I know doll… I had my suspicions. Come on, let’s get you someplace safe”, he sighed, helping you up to your feet so he could walk you back to his apartment. Even in the dead of night, the city wasn’t void of people and Kaeya would hate for anyone else to see you in the state you’re in and try to pry into what happened. You whimpered, clinging to his arm while you continued to shake, full on sprinting to the city from the winery is no easy feat, now that the adrenaline is gone your muscles were screaming at you to stop moving. You wanted badly to just drop right there and let the ground swallow you whole, but you knew you’d never rest in peace until you found out why the bastard had done this to you. You took a few steps with Kaeya until you heard your name called out by the very man who broke the heart you entrusted him with.
“y/n, please wait...!”, Diluc pants, finally catching up after he watched you dash from his front door. He managed to get his pants on but couldn’t fully button his shirt up, leaving his chest bare for you and his brother to see the marks littering his skin. Kaeya felt disgusted at the sight, disgusted at his brother, and disgusted with himself for not doing more to prevent this. He opened his mouth to begin to tear him a new one when he felt the temperature in the air drop significantly. For a moment he thought he had lost control of his vision, but when he saw snow begin to fall from the sky, he looked over at you and felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand. Your face was blank, the light in your eyes gone and your tear stains were beginning to frost over. The sight alone was enough to trouble the brothers, both standing in shock while you continued to stare at Diluc, taking in his image. His disheveled hair, messy clothes and how his lips were still a little puffy, no doubt from a heavy make out session. You thought of all the red flags you had ignored, the times you had pushed aside your own gut feeling in favor of the ruined man in front of you. Memories flashed through your head, from the day you met Diluc to the many dates he took you on and finally the day he asked you to be his, each memory bringing more tears back to your eyes, but they didn’t fall.
“….. I wanna go”, you murmured to Kaeya, pressing closer to his side while you took a deep breath in, willing your heart to stop aching. The snow stopped falling, whatever did fall was already starting to melt while the air was returning to its normal temperature. By the time the sun rises there would be no indication of the temporary snow day the city experienced. Kaeya placed a hand on the small of your back, turning you both and guiding you away from Diluc Ragnvindr, the man you once loved, now lost. He could only watch you walk away, the consequences of his impulsive actions eating away at him. The only thing he could do was turn around and begin his walk of shame back to the winery, back to Jean.
Week 8 started with you finding out the supposed love of your life was cheating on you, but you were also on your new journey of self-discovery and reaching new bonds with the Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonius.
Epitaph: This piece can also be found on AO3, I have also thought of adding another chapter, maybe. Soo,, about that new Diluc skin? >:3c

Headcanons - Genshin men with the knowledge that you're a vampire: Kaeya
Notes from the crypt: welcome back to this headcanon series ive been obsessively thinking about
Tags: gn!vampire!reader, smut implied, implied dom!kaeya, blood mentions, vampire bites
Tumblr media
• He cant stop looking at your fangs, its his favorite thing about you. He has a longing look on his face when you grin or laugh, your sharp canines almost teasing him in the glint of indoor lights.
• He'll never admit it, but something awoke in him the evening you told him that you were a vampire. Unholy images flooded his mind at the thought, it was sinful desire that drove him to become closer to you, to learn more about you.
• His teasing increases tenfold, he'll whisper in your ear a lot just so he can catch a whiff of your scent, the mix of blood and wine sends a spark down his spine. If he's walking with you anywhere he needs to have a hand on you, whether its on the small of your back or your arms laced together, he's fascinated with how equally chilly your skin is compared to his. He'll be struggling hella hard not to pop a boner if you allowed him to watch you feed from live prey, he thinks red looks amazing on you.
• He'll convince you to tag along his patrols, the sooner you both can get them done then the sooner he can spend more time with you, of course he makes sure you get something in return as well. You're happily licking off the remaining blood on your hands while waiting for Kaeya to finish up paperwork in his office, but the overpowering scent of blood along with your infectious good mood is distracting him, so he puts paperwork aside to focus all his attention on his favorite vampire.
• Of course, there are times when you cant be glued to his side, he'll pout when you cant sit with him during long meetings or he'll be searching for you only to find out that one of the other knights had asked you to tag along on their patrols, and something wicked flows through him, a pang of possessive jealousy that he tries to brush aside. He has to remind himself that you're allowed to help anyone, even if it is one of his subordinates that he may or may not put on bathroom cleaning duty for the next month once he returns with you. It quickly becomes an unspoken rule never to ask you to join their patrols unless they wanna face Kaeya's wrath.
• Even with the unspoken rule, the knights are really testing Kaeya's patience when he invited you out to drinks with them, he forgets how influential alcohol is sometimes. He's sipping at his drink when you joked about finding a blood host that wont fight you back, a drink he nearly chokes on when Huffman drunkenly volunteered before the tavern erupts in laughter, it may have been a joke but it made Kaeya really think.
• It had him thinking for so long he's pressing you against his front door after you two left Angel's Share, he's so close you can smell the Death After Noon he's been drinking. "Do you really want to find a blood host?" He asks, his voice coming out softer than you were expecting and you notice the flash of worry in his gaze. He's cute when he's like this, vulnerable and needy. Its supposed to make you flush, but you giggle instead, hands raising up to cup his pouty cheeks. He whines in your hold, face moving from your hands to the crook of your neck while he wraps his arms around you.
• "Are you jealous, Captain Kaeya? Jealous of the possibility I could feed off of someone other than you?", you whisper in his ear, feeling the way he shudders and relishing in your moment of dominance before Kaeya lifts his head to look you in the eye, his expression alone was enough to stun you. "Why can't you choose me?", he whispers back, his brows beginning to crease in sadness and that was enough to break the ever growing tension.
• You're both tumbling into his place, lips connected in a heated kiss. He's kicking his door closed while you're both trying to undress each other. Forget trying to get to the bedroom, you both ended up tripping and falling in the living room but it did little to extinguish the flame that has already been lit. Connected in a moment of passion, he bares his neck at you, an open invitation that you happily take up on by sinking your fangs into his awaiting skin, eliciting a moan from him along with a delicious roll of his hips that has him rubbing against all the right places.
• Its messy, its bloody but its the filthy desire he's been dreaming of, and he may have cum a little too quickly after you sank your fangs into his shoulder for another taste, but he's got plenty of rounds left in him, as long as you don't suck him dry. (You won't, you need your blood host after all)
• He'll wear his bite marks with pride, even going as far as telling you where to bite so the mark is appropriately displayed on his chest window. You're embarrassed that he would actually parade himself around like that, bragging even that he's your walking food supply, but you honestly wouldnt have it any other way.

Slip of the Tongue
Notes from the Crypt: Apologies for those waiting for the second chapter of To Have Loved and Lost, I promise that's still in the works. This piece is inspired by a comment from @seiiblue regarding Diluc's new skin, so I hope you'll enjoy this in the meantime

Summary: You wanted to do something nice for your husband, but the reward he gives you is not one you expected.

It was a mistake, he swears. In the heat of the moment his mind wasn’t where it was supposed to be, and this was the result of that.
A lot was going on in the last few weeks, hell, in the last few months with him, and that meant with you as well. With him running the winery, the tavern, his Darknight Hero duties as well as hunting down the Abyss Order, somewhere along the way he decided to slap ‘infiltrating the Fatui’ to that whole list. He swore it was for your safety alongside Mondstadt’s, in the end it was for the greater good!
To keep up his good husband streak, he ended up telling you his plan of sneaking into the Fatui for intel, since he knew he wouldn’t be able to take them all himself, the least he knew he could do was gather as much information as he could so he can form a team (and maybe, just maybe, ask Jean for help). You were reluctant at first, of course you were, you had firsthand experience of fighting the Fatui, you knew how ruthless they can be. Archons forbid they find out Diluc isn’t actually part of their ranks, and they tear him apart limb from limb, so you had to devise a plan of your own. You asked him for patience so you could take a trip back to Inazuma to get him something special that will help with the infiltration. You didn’t tell him all of the details as you wanted it to be a surprise, but you had the perfect idea; in order to play the part, he has to look the part. You know what a typical Fatui outfit should look like after fighting off many of their members, so you had a general idea of what his new threads should look like. After taking his measurements and gathering the necessary fabrics and materials, you kissed his cheek and went along your merry way to the one and only Ogura Mio of Ogura Textiles and Kimonos. You knew it was a hefty order to ask of her, doing something that’s possibly out of her range but you reassured her that you’d be alongside her every step of the way. Sure, you’re no expert like Ogura, but you have some experience in sewing your own clothes together when a particularly rough fight almost made your clothes into rags.
You let her in on all the details, getting her more and more excited with all the information you’re rapid firing at her and in the end, she happily agreed, and you both got started right away. It was no easy feat, it took some trial and error and a lot of sleepless nights but after a week and a half of almost nonstop work, your project was finished, and you almost shed tears of joy at the finished product. It was perfect, everything was exactly as you had wanted down to the details, and the more you looked at it the more pride swelled in your chest. You did this for your husband to help him with his plan after all. You thanked your partner in crime endlessly, giving her far more mora than the new outfit was worth as well as treating her to lunch before your departed onto the early evening boat so you can make your way back to Mondstadt by nightfall. Even though you slept in most of the morning, you still felt quite sluggish and worn out from working so hard on getting this outfit together as quickly as you and Ogura could. You knew Diluc could be a little impatient, you were concerned that if you had taken too long on his surprise then he would have taken off on his infiltration mission without ever having witnessed your masterpiece. Once in Mond, you hurried back to the winery, adrenaline and excitement giving you the extra push to get inside and get his reaction.
“Diluc? Darling?”, you called out as soon as you entered, the outfit stored in a complimentary kimono box from Ogura that she thankfully gifted you after you realized you didn’t have anything to take the outfit in. Closing the door, you started to get nervous after not hearing a response from your husband, wondering for a split second if you were too late until he called out to you from his study. With butterflies in your stomach, you entered the room, box gingerly in his hands, and watched as Diluc lifted his gaze from his paperwork to stare hard at it, brows furrowing in confusion. You stood awkwardly for a few seconds while he took in the box, you wondered if he stared hard enough would he burn a hole through it and through all the hard work you put into its contents. Clearing your throat, his eyes moved from the box to yours as he perked a brow.
“Sweetheart, please don’t tell me you went to Inazuma to get me a kimono?”, he began, and you had to stifle a laugh, of course he would think that.
“Of course not, it was just the only thing I could bring this back in”, you chuckled, setting the box down carefully on his desk, minding the paperwork, and opening it to reveal the beautiful outfit you put in maximum effort for. He was breathless, shocked, and amazed at what he was looking at. It was truly a work of art, something that seemed to have been done by professional designers, and for a fraction of a second, he thought you did hunt down a boutique to buy this from.
“It took me some time and a lot of elbow grease, but with the help of my friend Ogura, we made this for you”, you couldn’t help the grin that was splitting your face as you watched Diluc stand from his chair and gently take the jacket out of the box first, an awestruck look on his face. He admired all the details, even the stitching was immaculate! The more he took it all in, the more impressed he was, the entire gesture was so heartfelt that he almost shed a tear.
“Well? Try it on! I wanna make sure it fits perfectly”, you purred, moving beside him to remove his current jacket off his shoulders. Like kids on Christmas, you were both giggly and giddy as you both hurried to the bedroom so Diluc could quickly shed his usual black attire and throw on the new crimson outfit. You breathed a sigh of relief when you saw that it fit him like a glove, nothing was too tight or too loose or seemed out of place. If you had a tail, you’d be wagging it a mile a minute as you watched your husband admire himself on the full-length mirror. He seemed truly amazed that you had managed to get his aesthetic down and bring it to life for something he knew would benefit his newest mission. The moment was filled with deep emotion that quickly turned into something feral as he eyes you from the mirror, the way your face was painted with pride and adoration sent tingles down his body. It was like a switch was flipped within him that made him walk towards you and pull you into a searing kiss, forcing his tongue into your mouth. You subconsciously gripped onto his jacket, melting under his touch, and moaning into the kiss.
Time seemed to move too quickly, you didn’t have enough to be confused or wonder how you ended up spread underneath him, your clothes long discarded while Diluc opted to push his pants down to bury himself deep inside you. It was lustful and passionate the way he made love to you, the way he brushed against all your sensitive spots had you both quickly reaching your climax, it was all too perfect, until he moaned a name that wasn’t yours.
You both froze, orgasms ruined and forgotten while the name echoes in your mind. You stared at the ceiling, thoughts plaguing you. There was no way he just did that. With the name branded on the forefronts of your brain, you looked over at your husband who was actively avoiding your gaze, sweat beginning to slide down his cheek and neck. He totally just did that. You pushed against his chest, a silent plea to get off you that he thankfully understood since he carefully pulled out and sheepishly put himself away while you moved off the bed to grab a robe from the closet to throw on. You knew that name, it was a name that you heard in recent conversations you’ve had with your husband regarding someone he occasionally works with. With your back turned against your spouse you began to wrack your brain over the past, how long had it been since you both had been intimate like this? Was he sleeping around without your knowledge? Who’s to say they haven’t already slept together? Before you could hurt yourself more than you already are, you turned to Diluc to ask what the hell just happened, only to be beaten to the punch.
“y/n I-I swear... It was just a spur of the moment! You know how stressed I’ve been lately, I promise this is the first time I’ve thought of them”, every excuse he threw at you was like a knife through your heart, and every word after like salt being poured on the open wounds. You can’t recall when you began to tune him out while you put your clothes on and reached under the bed for your luggage. You slapped his hands off you when he tried to stop you, mumbling at him not to touch you as you went around the room gathering your essentials. You didn’t process his pleas nor his cries, all you could think of was getting yourself out of this suffocating space right away. By the time you got the last of your things together you looked at Diluc sitting on the edge of the bed, head in his hands and shoulders trembling with the guilt of his now disclosed desires of someone other than you. You felt tired, you felt crushed, yet you shed no tears, not for a man who you thought loved you as unconditionally as you did for him. For a second you cursed yourself for being blinded by love, you cared for this man, devoted yourself to him and even married him, all for it to go down the drain because he managed to slip up. How long he would have kept that name a secret if it didn’t slip out tonight?
“I want a divorce”, you finally spoke, turning away from Diluc’s raising head while you made your way to the bedroom door.
“I hope they bring you the happiness I couldn’t.”

Summary: All you wanted to do was spend his birthday with him
Tumblr media
Two weeks. You spent 2 weeks wracking your brain for ideas on how to celebrate Childe’s birthday only for it to go down the fucking drain. You sighed hard, swirling the glass of wine you had in your hand as you sank further into the warm bubble bath that was drawn for you, thanks to your generous host who welcomed you into his home after he found you wandering the streets of Liyue, soaked to the bone from the storm. You chewed on the inside of your cheek, the pain is a nice distraction from the ache that is now the hole you feel in your heart, the very one Childe carved out himself. You thought you had a great plan, a nice candlelit dinner at home, a bubble bath with some oils and fresh flowers you spent at least a good hour meticulously picking and sharing wine underneath the stars! Hell, you even thought of going further should the mood strike, but it would seem the gods had something else planned for you. He had work, he said. He’ll be home late, he said. Let’s celebrate tomorrow, he said, and while you were disappointed, you still happily agreed, simply content that he was still willing to celebrate his special day with you even a day later.
You scoffed into the wine glass as you took a sip, thinking back to how he kissed your cheek this morning but ignored the empty feeling it left behind, like he did it as some chore. At the time you thought nothing of it, too caught up with changing dinner plans since Childe seemed to want to postpone the grand birthday dinner. It was no issue to you, all you had to do was pop into town to grab a couple of vegetables and some meat and cook something simple that you can save for him when he comes home. What was meant to be an easy trip ended up turning your life upside down, as when you were in the middle of picking out radishes from Chef Mao, you heard the unmistakable laugh of your boyfriend. Confused, you looked around the busy street to catch him idling nearby, his arm around the traveler’s shoulders. You wondered for a second if they had crossed paths just now when you felt your heart drop, watching Childe pull them close to press a kiss to their cheek, and then another to their lips. You didn’t even realize you had dropped the radishes you were holding, Chef Mao calling your name with concern.
“y/n? hey, are you alright?”, Mao asked, walking around his place behind the booth to your side, where he gently placed a hand on your shoulder and finally broke you from your spell. You whipped your head at him, eyes wide and glassy and stuttered out apologies, quickly gathering the radishes you had dropped and giving him possibly way too much mora before mumbling something about being in a hurry and rushing off, unable to stop the tears from flowing freely down your cheeks. You weren’t aware if Childe had seen you, nor did you really care as you know exactly what you saw, and you certainly didn’t want to stick around for an encore. Your mind was in shambles, cursing not only yourself but also the man who apparently preferred to celebrate his birthday with the traveler rather than with you. While you were walking with no destination in mind, you were also piecing together the times Childe claimed he would be held up at work or the nights he came home at ungodly hours, it became clear as day that he didn’t need to work overtime hours with how fucking rich he already is, he was just using that as an excuse to go meet up with the traveler! And you let it happen for months! You choked back a sob, stopping in the middle of the bridge before the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor and going to the ledge, suddenly feeling nauseous. You didn’t register the rain that was now soaking through your hair and clothes, too numb to notice you had begun to shiver and teeter a little too close to the edge, you couldn’t even register the rushing footsteps approaching you until you felt a hand roughly tugging you away. You shrieked, losing your balance, and falling into a pair of sturdy arms.
“y/n? What on teyvat are you thinking? It’s highly dangerous for you to be that close to the ledge!”, Zhongli sternly scolded you, the poor heart attack you gave this man when he exited the parlor and looked to see you practically about to jump. He couldn’t think of any reason why you even would, which only made him worry even more as he looked you over carefully, making sure you weren’t physically injured. He gave you quite the fright too, enough to make you sob hard in his arms, your own arms struggling to hold the radishes you were still cradling for dear life.
“Ajax… I saw him… k-kissing the… the traveler”, you whimpered, and Zhongli’s shoulders began to relax, his worry of you trying to throw yourself off the bridge morphing into worry that you had been a witness to adultery. He rubbed your shoulders, mentally wonderig how cold you must be and quickly began to usher you away, straight to his place. Being romantically involved with Childe, you had also made friends with Zhongli, so you were no stranger to his abode, it was a humble little place, nice and cozy for someone like him. You had even joked with Childe, telling him if he was ever caught cheating then you’d move in with Zhongli because his place was so nice, how unaware you were back then. Zhongli welcomed you into his home, not caring that you both were soaking wet as he coaxed the radishes you were holding out of your grip and onto the side table, the sounds of your sniffling and sobbing was breaking his heart, you didn’t deserve to have this happen to you, so he made it his personal mission to make sure you are very well taken care of.
“y/n, may I have the honor of taking care of you tonight?”, he asked gently while he held your hands as if you were made from porcelain. You sniffled, remaining silent for a few seconds before nodding, and with a squeak you were lifted bridal style into his arms and carried into the bathroom where he began to draw you a bath. You fiddled with the hem of your shirt, feeling drained from all the crying as you watched Zhongli pour all kinds of stuff into the filling bath, it was kind of therapeutic. Milk, flowers, dried fruits, oils and bubblies, the room was beginning to fill with steam and the heavenly scent of his concoction before he deemed it satisfactory enough and straightened up to look at you.
“Please step in and relax, I’ll return shortly with some wine. I recently acquired a bottle recommended by a friend in Mondstadt and I would like to get your opinion of it, so if you’ll excuse me”, he bowed his head before leaving the bathroom, giving you the privacy to peel your wet clothes off and step into the water. To say the temperature was perfect would have been an understatement, you felt like you were being hugged by a blanket fresh out of the dryer. You sighed out, dipping low enough to keep your chin above water and just soak before you heard knocks on the door after some time.
“Come in”, you called out, Zhongli enters with two glasses of wine in his hands, passing you one that you gratefully take and sipped. It was smooth, semi-sweet and doesn’t attack the taste buds, which you appreciated since you weren’t a fan of bitter wines. You noticed your host had changed into silk pajamas as he took a seat on the edge of the tub, sipping at his wine and giving you an expectant look. It was a look that told you he was ready to listen, and you couldn’t help but give him an appreciative look before laying your breaking heart out for him. You told him everything, from the times Childe had lied to you about work to seeing him kiss the traveler today, and he simply nodded while you spoke, taking sips of wine in between and even extending his hand out to you when your voice began to crack, tears threatening to fall again. He ran his thumb over your knuckles while you ranted at him, pitching in his opinions, and expressing immense disappointment in Childe over this outcome of your relationship until you both fell into a comfortable silence.
“I’ve laid out some clothes for you in my bedroom, when you finish up come meet me in the kitchen while I prepare a hot meal for us to enjoy”, he stood and once again bowed his head, a gesture you couldn’t help but smile at while he left you alone. You took a moment to soak in silence, the water long gone lukewarm, but you paid it no mind, you mostly wanted to gather your thoughts for yourself. You scoffed at the kiss Childe gave you this morning, it was definitely different than the one you saw him give the traveler earlier. You finished your wine along with your bath, draining the water and tossing out the rehydrated fruits before wrapping yourself in the robe that thankfully Zhongli keeps in his bathroom before stepping out and making your way to his bedroom. You thought of proposing the idea of rooming with Zhongli while you searched for a place of your own, archons know you don’t want to continue living with Childe if he was just going to keep stringing you along like he currently is. You stopped in your tracks when you saw the matching pajama set that was laid out on the bed, your emotions getting the better of you and you began to sniffle again, chuckling to yourself while you got dressed and walked into the kitchen where Zhongli was finishing up a simple dish of radish veggie soup using the radishes you were clinging onto earlier. You were grateful to have met a man like him, his friendship was something you treasured and even now, when you’re at your lowest, he’s been nothing but a gentleman and doting on you, you were beginning to think that maybe you had made a mistake in choosing Childe to date.
“Zhongli… Thank you, for everything”, you began, giving him a teary-eyed smile and your cheeks flushed slightly when he cupped your face in his hands, wiping away any stray tears and giving you a warm smile.
“You need not thank me; I’m simply doing my duty as your closest friend and confidant… Now sit, we’ll eat and maybe head to bed? You must be exhausted after today’s ordeal”, he laid a hand on your lower back while he ushered you to sit, preparing a bowl of soup for both you and himself and sitting across from you to enjoy dinner.
“Hey ‘Li… Can I stick around for a while? I don’t think I wanna… go back to Childe’s house after today”, you asked sheepishly, pushing your spoon around the bowl. Zhongli didn’t hesitate to agree, putting your heart and mind at ease and even suggesting he accompany you to retrieve your belongings if you liked. You nodded happily, flashing him the warmest smile he’s ever had the pleasure of seeing and making idle conversation while you both finished dinner. After the dishes were washed, he insisted on sleeping on the couch while you took his bedroom but couldn’t deny your request of sharing a bed after you held onto his sleeve, a sad look in your eyes over the thought of sleeping alone. He held you that night, whispering all the fun things you both can do after you move in until you fell asleep.
Morning came quicker than you anticipated, waking up from a dreamless sleep, you could still feel the fatigue in your muscles as you took in your surroundings. You stretched a hand out to feel for Zhongli but felt something cold instead. Confused, you sat up and picked up the cold metal, looking at it and all at once you felt like the air was punched out of your lungs. Tucking it into the waistband of your pajama bottoms, you met Zhongli back in the kitchen where he was preparing breakfast, and afterwards you both changed and made the way back to Childe’s place. You were half hoping he was home, possibly concerned that you hadn’t returned the night prior, but you were hurt and frustrated when there was no sign of him, instead there was a note saying he missed you and he was once again, going to be late coming home. Zhongli made no comment on the subtle drop in temperature, instead asking where you two should begin and you lead him into the bedroom you once shared with Childe and began to gather your things. You two worked in silence, Zhongli packing your items in the luggage you provided while you silently wiped at your eyes and nose, you could feel your blood grow colder the longer you stood in this space that held so many memories. Despite the time you spent with the harbinger, you didn’t have a lot to your name, which you supposed could be a blessing now since it meant you didn’t have to return. Zhongli carried your luggage for you out of the house, but before you could step further you faced the home you once called yours and stared at it, the hurt and pain that Childe put you through fueling your new vision to allow you to thrust your hand out and encase the entire home in ice.
“Take that, asshole”, you puffed out, turning on your heel and following Zhongli back to your new home. He made a mental note to congratulate you on your new vision while you both began a new chapter in your lives. Somewhere in Liyue, Childe got the coldest chill up his spine he’s ever experienced and felt something was terribly wrong.
Epitaph: This piece can also be found on AO3. Oops, accidentally made it zhongli x reader, hence why I may need to add a second chapter, but hey congrats on your new vision! It's weird how I write a lot about cryo vision lmao I'm really hoping this isnt just a jumble mess because I'm still really fucking sick lmao I just couldn't resist writing something that involved our favorite harbinger, even if he barely made an appearance asdhfk

To Have Loved and Lost Ch. 2
Notes from the Crypt: Henlo, thank you for your patience. I must admit this chapter has gone in a different direction than I have in my notes, but I hope its still satisfactory, chapter 1 can be found here
Tags: GN!Reader, angst with a slightly happy ending
Summary: Following the events of chapter 1, you can't possibly think this can get any worse, right?
Tumblr media
Week 8 started with you finding out the supposed love of your life was cheating on you with the acting grand master. You felt empty and alone, the pain in your chest now a dull ache while you let Kaeya lead you back to his apartment that thankfully wasn’t that far of a walk. He was softly speaking to you, surely words of reassurance and comfort but you couldn’t hear him, having tuned him out for a while. Mentally you felt exhausted, you felt foolish, most of all you felt embarrassed that you let Diluc Ragnvindr lead you around while having feelings for another. You wanted to hate him, to hate both him and Jean, and maybe in the future you will, maybe you’ll keep this grudge and let it fester, let it destroy you from the inside like a parasite that eats away at its victims. For now, however, you just wanted to lay down and sleep for a very, very long time.
“Here we are… Make yourself comfortable, yeah?”, Kaeya spoke softly, setting you down on the couch and plopping down right beside you, your hands still in his. He was concerned about you, he can’t imagine how much you were hurting, but he was also concerned because your hands were still ice cold from the momentary loss of control you had over your vision from earlier. He watched your face, taking in your empty expression while also checking for any signs of frostbite, all while his thumbs rubbed over your palm to try and regulate your temperature. He contemplated going to grab a blanket to wrap you in when you seem to snap from your daze and look up at him.
“Back then… You said you had your suspicions…”, you looked Kaeya in his eye, if he wasn’t so good at keeping up appearances, he would have flinched with the look you had in yours, it was akin to looking a predator in the eyes, all sharp and observing. He stared at you for an extra few seconds, weighing his options on whether he should tell you of his observations now or to insist you get some rest. He chose to try and poke the beast.
“y/n… I think it would be in your best interest if we waited until- “, he paused when he felt the air grow cold, just enough to be able to see his breath when he sighed, he figured in your current state he wouldn’t be able to get you to listen to his suggestions. Your stubbornness was something he admired and found adorable, but sometimes it also came back to bite him in the ass. Resigning, he told you everything he knew, no detail was left out and he could see how much it was hurting you, with how hard you were trying to hold back your tears and how your hands trembled when he finished. Like a naïve lover, you had hope that Diluc only had an impulsive fling, you hated that you still had hope to fix things with him, to start over with him even, but this was just confirmation that the comfortable lifestyle you had with the winemaker ended abruptly. The memories you shared with him, the moments that meant the absolute world to you, now crumbled in the same way you started to crumble before Kaeya, tears flowing freely now. He pulled you into his arms, allowing you to cry in his embrace once again while you accepted the fact that you’ll never be able to return to Diluc, you’ll never see the way he used to smile at you. You’ll never be able to kiss his lips, as sweet as the grape juice he loved to drink. Instead, you’re faced with the fact that Jean has replaced you, and you cry harder over how easy they were able to just push you and your feelings aside, as if you were nothing.
Kaeya lost track of how long you cried, lost track of how long he’s been rocking you back and forth, rubbing your back and pressing his cheek against the crown of your head, continuing even after you cried yourself to sleep. Picking you up carefully, he carried you to his bedroom where he tucked you into his bed and slipped in next to you, eye never leaving your sleeping face. He had an inkling of an urge to go to the winery and give Diluc a piece of his mind, putting you through such a matter and making you end up in such a state was something Kaeya couldn’t sit by and let happen, but he also knew that you needed him now more than ever, so he must prioritize you first. Even though he told you of his observations, he left out a very important key detail that he was adamant you can’t know about; the long-standing pining Diluc and Jean had for each other before you made an appearance in Mondstadt. As someone who hailed from Inazuma, you weren’t involved in any of their lives until a few years ago, so you weren’t aware of the tension the two had with each other. Back then, you decided to visit Mond for a short time for business, but then the decree began, and you became stranded in the city of freedom. It took years before your nation was freed by the Traveler, and in those years Diluc had decided to settle for you instead of pursue something with Jean in fear of appearances. He was concerned for both his and Jean’s reputation if word got out that they had started dating, since he had very strong feelings about the Knights of Favonius. Even after he started dating you, it didn’t feel right with him, while he still he enjoyed spending his days with you, he knew deep down in his heart he wanted Jean. It was selfish of him, having these kinds of thoughts while pretending to love you, logically he should have broken up with you, and he had every intention to, but the day he was going to do so, Jean approached him, and it was like the tension snapped. That was last night when you walked in on them in the winery.
You woke up in an empty bed, head pounding from dehydration. You looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of Kaeya but it didn’t seem like he was in the room, the only thing you saw was a note on the nightstand, along with a glass of water. ‘Have some knight business to attend to, sorry I couldn’t greet you. Drink some water. Don’t hesitate to find me for anything -K’. Your heart fluttered for a split second, a small smile growing on your lips as you drank the water next to you, thankful that Kaeya was as kind as he was sly, you should buy him a drink for letting you cry all over him and spend the night, and you should also probably apologize for tackling the life out of him. First thing was first however, you were empty handed, all your belongings were at the winery, even the luggage you dropped in all the chaos that was last night. Your heart clenched at the thought of returning, the chance of running into Diluc was low but the mansion itself still held feelings that you’re still mourning over. If you held it off however, then you’d just continue to hold it off, and you’ll need to go back anyway for your travel permits if you wanted to return to Inazuma. It took you nearly an hour before you finally left the apartment, your gut twisting in anxiety as you left the gates of Mond, your hands breaking out into a sweat when you approached the front doors to the winery. The chance of Diluc being home was almost nonexistent, he was barely there when you were with him, so maybe if you’re lucky you’ll return to an empty mansion aside from the maids, Adelinde and Elzer.
You swear the archons must have it out for you because the moment you went to unlock the door, it swung open and you’re staring right at Diluc’s chest. You’re glued to the spot, refusing to look at his stupid handsome face while also willing your heart to stop beating so loud else he’ll hear it. Diluc also seems frozen, since he hasn’t moved either, but you can feel him staring at you, then you notice his hands clenching and unclenching, something you knew he did when he was gathering his thoughts. The tension was thick, and it was only growing thicker the longer you both stood there in awkward silence, there wasn’t enough doorframe for you to squeeze past him for what you needed, maybe you should be the one to move out of his way? A cough broke through your thoughts, and you finally looked towards his face, hoping you didn’t look as pathetic as you felt.
“Can we talk?”, his voice was low, barely above a whisper, but the question still sends a shock of anxiety down your spine, it’s a question no couple ever wants to hear but at this point would you two still qualify as a couple? You can refuse, insist you’re here for some important stuff and be on your merry way, but the devil on your shoulder insisted you needed closure, so you nodded and followed him to his study. The tension was still there, you both sitting at his desk in silence save for the sounds of him rifling through paperwork. He shouldn’t be as nervous as he is, this is the perfect opportunity to officially break up with you, but there was still something within him that made him hesitate. Maybe it was how red and puffy your eyes were, or how you still had a hint of hope in them when you looked up, maybe it was the guilt that was eating away at him for a long time now, being fully aware of what he was putting you through. Still, now is possibly the only opportunity he can say what he needs to say and put the relationship behind him.
“First, I want to apologize for what you walked in on. I didn’t want you to see Jean in such a state, so if you can keep quiet about it, I’m prepared to pay any price”, he began, and it was like you were speaking to a completely different person. You were confused, why was he acting this way towards you? He’s apologizing on Jean’s behalf. Where’s the apology for cheating on you? Where’s the groveling, the begging, and he’s prepared to pay for your silence? You had to look around for a quick second, convinced that you were being pranked in some way, but the room was empty save for you both.
“Secondly, I think its about time I explained, well, everything”.
It felt like you were in that room for hours, listening to Diluc go on about how your relationship was basically all a fraud. The more you listened, the more you wanted to just throw yourself off Starsnatch Cliff, the truth felt more scorching than the hot knives that have long been embedded in your heart, yet you sat in silence, nails digging painfully into your thighs. The story came out, how you were basically a rebound and he had no real intention to spend the rest of his life with you in the same way you wanted, in some sick and twisted way, he was testing you out to see if he was ready to move on from Jean, but obviously he failed. You swallowed hard, blinking tears away and looking at anywhere but him, because you knew if you looked at him, you’d just come crashing down again and damnit, you’re sick and tired of crashing. You’re a mix of emotions, but there is one that is quickly bubbling deep inside the more you thought about this new knowledge. Diluc truly played you like a fool, and you stupidly followed, like some lost puppy that he ended up kicking aside anyway.
“I know why you’re here as well… I figured you’d want your travel permits so I’ve taken the liberty to grab them ahead of time… I think this should wrap things up”, Diluc pushed a small stack of papers your way, your eyes going towards them to see your name staring back at you. You’re relieved for a few seconds, it saves the trouble of going into the bedroom to look for them, but that feeling was replaced by another surge of anger, this entire time it just felt like a business meeting. You stared at the papers, thoughts keeping you silent as you contemplated your final words to Diluc, you had so much you wanted to say, some questions even, but the more you tried to think of them, the more they slipped from your grasp. Diluc watched you, unable to read the expression you had, and he opened his mouth to ask you to leave, but was cut off when you leapt forward, your hand in a thick layer of ice colliding with his cheek, the force enough to knock him straight out of his chair. The punch was hard enough that it broke the ice right off your hand, landing in chunks next to his writhing form. He wasn’t going to lie and say it was unexpected, he was anticipating that by laying everything on the table you may react violently, but what he wasn’t expecting was how strong your hook was, and while using your vision at the same time, he was pressing his hand against the fresh gash he now had on his cheekbone.
“Fuck you, Diluc Ragnvindr. I didn’t deserve this and now you’ve ruined my life. I hope something else comes along and ruins your life with Jean too. Oh, and send the rest of my stuff to your brother, because I never want to see you again”, you huffed, your hand ached but you ignored it in favor of snatching your permits and storming out of the room and through the front door. Once outside, you set your hands on your knees and gulped in the fresh air, eyes closed tight to try and stop the oncoming tears. Never again will you cry for a man who never really gave you his heart, you refused to shed another tear for someone that selfish. Getting your bearings together, you took a deep breath and started the walk back to the city, you still had to do something for Kaeya after all. Walking through the entrance gates you were assessing the damage on your knuckles from the punch, they were a little bloody and ached like hell but after flexing them you knew they weren’t broken, maybe they’ll be alright after you put some ice on them. Being distracted by your battle wound, you bumped into a second body that day, you seriously must do something about that, and in the middle of your apology you saw that it was just the man you were looking for. Kaeya smirked at you, a sly comment on the tip of his tongue before he saw your knuckles and went into mother hen mode, cradling your hand in his and shooting off questions. Are you alright? Who did this? Was it a treasure hoarder? Is it broken?
“This? I punched your brother after I bumped into him at the winery… He said some stuff about our relationship and… I guess we broke up”, you shrugged it off as if you didn’t just get your entire world shattered a few minutes ago, and Kaeya could only gape at you like a fish out of water. He knew he had a weird feeling earlier during one of the meetings, it was like one of those sixth sense feelings that something horrible was going to happen, but he’s still glad that you didn’t get ambushed.
“I see… We can discuss that later, for now we should really get this treated”, he furrowed his brows in worry, his brother will be fine, he needs to make sure you’re taken care of. His heart skipped a beat when you laughed, it felt like ages since he last saw you smile let alone heard your harmonious laugh.
“I’ll be alright, you forget that I’ve had worse than this, oh! Can I take you out for a drink? I wanted to thank you for letting me spend the night and apologize for tackling the shit out of you”, you wrapped your wounded hand around one of his and began pulling him towards Angels Share, unaware of the way Kaeya was looking at you, with the adoration you longed for.
“You know I can’t say no to you doll, plus you still have to tell me all about your adventures in Inazuma”, Kaeya knew it was way too early to confess the feelings he’s had for you, but he had a good feeling that things were going to start looking up. You’re going to hurt for a while, but he hasn’t left your side ever since he got to know you and he isn’t about to abandon you now like his brother did. If only you knew how you had him wrapped around your finger.
Epitaph: This piece can also be found on AO3. I know there were some cries of justice against Jean, but with my mindset if I put violence against her, there was probably no way you wouldn't get kicked out of Mondstadt, so we get to give Diluc a solid punch instead. I think this is a pretty good end for this series, but rest assured I still have many ideas for other fics, so look forward to that :]

HCs: you feed from someone other than Kaeya
Notes from the crypt: Inspired by this comment made by @naomireyes155, here are some headcanons with that scenario
Tags: GN!Vampire!reader, vampire themes, implied cheating, misunderstanding, light smut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Kaeya is understandably upset, whining and throwing a mini temper tantrum on the bed that he's supposed to be resting on after a particular night where you may have taken a little too much blood from him.
• To be fair, it was another night of passion that just kind of got lost in said passion. In the heat of the moment you had taken way too much from him and he ended up limp before he could reach his release and you panicked.
• He was saved, of course, but then the realization that he'll need lots of rest to recover what was lost hit you like a truck and you couldnt help but sulk and pout over temporarily losing your food source. You thought of going back to hunting boar but you shudder at the thought of downgrading from a taste you have already gotten accustomed to, so the next best thing has to be a temporary host while yours is recovering. Like hunting prey, you surveyed the sea of drunkards at Angel's Share, trying to determine who would be the best candidate to temporarily quench your thirst. The knights were particularly loud and rowdy, celebrating some event you couldnt be bothered to pay attention to while your sharp eyes scanned over their faces.
• Disappointment was etched onto your face the more you surveyed them, each one dumber than the next and you flop on the bar counter with a dramatic sigh, catching the attention of the redhead attending the tavern. "Whats wrong?" He asked in fake annoyance, he knew that you were in cahoots with his brother so he was lowkey concerned about your low mood. You inform him of your current predicament and he hums, throwing a drink together that he slides over to you, a bloody mary.
• "Well... if you have no other options then I wouldn't be opposed to helping you", he says after a beat of silence, and you have to repeat the sentence in your mind a few times before you process what he actually said. Diluc?? Volunteering??? It was as if Celestia itself opened up to give you a rad high five, your dumb blood-deprived brain didnt hesitate to take him up on his offer, as long as its done your way. And by your way, you meant using his wrist to feed as opposed to his neck, since neck feedings are strictly for Kaeya and his pleasure.
• Right there, in the middle of the bar you latched yourself onto his wrist, since its not considered intimate by vampire standards you had no issues in doing a public feeding, but you forget that there are drunkards inhabiting the tavern, and some had loose lips. Within 24 hours Kaeya had gotten the gossip that you were sucking Diluc's blood, and he was pissed. The rumors that were circulating were talking about how you had tossed Kaeya aside to favor Diluc's blood, so it was akin to you cheating on the Cavalry Captain with his vigilante brother. You were met with a furious Kaeya at the door, tears in his eye and still in a nightshirt, you noticed he wasn't wearing any pants but you didn't have time for naughty thoughts after he slaps you across the face and screams at you for cheating.
• The argument is exhausting, you're yelling back and forth at each other, screaming insults you never mean and tearing into each other's insecurities to try and make the other submit, but neither of you stand down. Kaeya is distraught, scream-crying about your apparent infidelity and you're crying in desperation to try and make him understand that wrist blood doesnt have the same implication as neck blood. Your throat is sore from trying to get him to understand that you'll always want his blood, but a vampire still has to eat.
• "Your blood tastes better than Diluc's because I love you Kaeya!! You're the one I want to spend the rest of your life with!", you admit in a desperate shriek, and the air is filled with silence while Kaeya stares at you wide and teary eyed. The tension seems to melt away, and Kaeya sniffles before he lifts his hands to his face, hiding the grin that was growing on his face. Your frustrations morph into confusion when he starts to giggle, softly at first before it turns into him snorting and laughing softly, the hurt in his eye turning into mirth.
• "Fucking simp", he snorts before you realize he's no longer upset and tackle him onto the floor to beging apologizing for earlier, pressing kisses against his skin and gasping at the sudden poke of his hips against yours. Bedroom sex doesnt seem to be your guys' thing, as you're once again stripped bare underneath him in the living room and mewling at every roll of his hips against yours, grinding against you at an agonizingly slow pace. He's half punishing you for trying to look for another host while also showing you how elated he is at your sudden confession of spending the rest of his life at his side. As a vampire, its evident that he'll die way before you will, but your confession still meant the world to him, as he knows he'll have your individed attention for a long while, and he's selfish.
• There are new bite marks on Kaeya's skin, as well as a glittery new ring on his finger, but he looks like he's feeling good as new, showing up to the knights headquarters much earlier than was anticipated and happily sitting in meetings with newfound energy. The rumors that once circulated around town died down, new rumors popping up that talks about the Darkknight Hero targeting anyone who is talking bad about you behind your back.

Honorary Harbinger
Notes from the crypt:
Tumblr media
What an honor to break the 300 milestone, I'm so incredibly happy to see that so many of you enjoy reading the pieces I equally enjoy writing! Beginning my writing journey I wasn't quite expecting to gain attention, but I'm still very grateful that you all take the time to go through this journey with me, from the most heart crushing angst to steamy pieces, I hope to continue bringing you titles that you can enjoy 🥺 This piece is a spin off from Let You Go.
Tags: GN!Reader, depictions of violence, you literally fight Childe, mentions of blood, yes he does pop a boner but no smut
Summary: you're introduced to the other Harbingers and launched right into fisticuffs with the 11th, who said you can't bond by fighting?
Tumblr media
"Honorary Harbinger? What, are we taking a page from the Knights of Favonius' handbook or something?", Tartaglia scoffs from his seat, arms crossed as he looks between Pierro and the new body standing beside the first Harbinger. He's never heard of such a title, either you've worked your ass enough to become an official Harbinger or you havent, and last he checked he hadn't heard any news of a sudden 12th member. You stand silent beside The Jester, arms crossed behind your back and standing at attention while Pierro introduces you to the other Harbingers. The Tsaritsa had decided it was about time you met your other teammates, yet Pierro wonders if it was still a little too soon considering Tartaglia's comment and the way Arlecchino was sharing a look with Columbina.
"... As I was saying, the Tsaritsa has granted the title to this recruit here, who has proven their position by rising through the ranks within their short time here, so I expect a little more respect than that, Tartaglia", Pierro growls low at the youngest Harbinger, who didn't seem affected at the psuedo-threat, appearing more interested in looking you up and down, clearly checking you out.
"Well, I for one welcome them, it's been ages since we've had a new Harbinger, honorary or not", Columbina giggles from the other side of the room, pride swells within you at the first acknowledgement of one of the Harbingers. Well, technically second since Pierro had long known you were going to join his team since the Tsaritsa took you in from Mondstadt.
"I too, will welcome them. I've seen them during training, I look forward to seeing them on the field", Capitano pipes up from a darkened corner, making Tartaglia sneak a gaze back, his interest finally piqued. If you were able to get the attention of Capitano, well then that just makes things more fun.
"Well, I can't accept them, not unless they fight me first", Childe springs to his feet, stretching his arm in a rounding motion. A chorus of groans echoes in the room, Pierro also groaning softly beside you while he pinches the bridge of his nose. "Childe, you cant--"
"I accept."
Pierro shoots you a warning look, prepared to shut down the idea of pitting his Harbingers against each other in some childish fight but the look in your eye made him hesitate. He can still see the swirl of betrayal and anger in your gaze, the same look he saw the first night he was introduced to you, you were bandaged and healing but the aura you exuded intrigued him, curious how one climbs back up from the claws of death with one goal; vengeance.
☆ ☆ ☆
"This opportunity is hard to come by you know", Childe boasts while you and him circle the room, his eyes never leaving yours. The rules were established; no visions, no delusions, first person to submit loses. It may not be the battlefield Childe wishes he could fight you in, but he'll take whatever he can get. You're already in a defensive position, keeping your stance light while keeping your fists close to your face, you send him a mocking smirk that makes his blood boil. He rushes forward, fist flying towards your cheek that you barely evade, hairs on the back of your neck standing at the feeling of the wind from his punch grazing your cheek before you're sending your own fist flying, one that connects with his stomach. He stumbles back, winded by the force of your punch and humming in amusement to himself while you two go back to prowling around each other like predators fighting for a scrap of meat. Looking for an opening, you pounce forward to try and catch him off guard, sweeping a foot under you intending to send his ass tumbling but curse to yourself when he hops over your foot, using the close proximity to grab you by the shoulders and crash his knee against your nose. You hear the sickening crunch of bone before you feel the pain, eyes watering from broken nerve vessels that have you gasping out a cry, falling back from the force and curling in to cradle your face, palms becoming coated in red.
"Ouch, that sounded like it hurt", Childe chuckles from above you, walking to you so he could stradle your hips and wrap his hands around your neck, fully intending on choking you until you tap out. Your bloody hands grip at his wrists, legs thrashing out underneath him in a pitiful attempt to buck him off while you're busy choking on both blood and lack of air, panic surging through you. Adrenaline courses through him, his grip on your airways only tighten, a wild grin splitting his face as he watches your face scrunch with wide eyes, mouth opening and closing to no avail. He's almost mesmerized in the way you choke, the way you gasp and whimper sends a shock straight to his cock, its the distraction you needed to reach up and claw at his eyes, fingers digging painfully in his sockets that forces him off you with a yell. Gulping in air, you idle on the floor for a few seconds before you're stumbling onto your feet, you decide to return the favor and run at him, tumbling into Childe and manhandling him into a triangle choke, thighs constricting his airways. He gasps, free hand wrapping around your thigh while he struggles against your grip, cheeks flushing from the position he found himself in. You keep a vice grip on him, panting above him and flex your thighs to further tighten your hold, you jolt when you hear a whimper come from him, ragged pants escaping his lips. You grunt above him, pulling the arm you're holding onto uncomfortably back until you feel it; his shoulder popping out of place that will surely make him surrender but you're shocked when you hear a broken moan from him. You consider letting him go but cant risk it if he ends up overpowering you and choking you out again. You watch as his lips begin to slowly turn blue, his noises turned into gargle jibberish and you swear his eyes are rolling into the back of his head the longer you hold him, until suddenly he's jolting and tapping your thigh aggressively. You immediately let go, thighs relaxing but not moving from his shoulders while you lay back to catch you breath, smiling at your victory.
"Childe yields, (y/n) wins", Pulcinella announces, a few murmurs of congratulations mixed with claps filling the air while you attempt to move off Tartaglia, but he's nuzzling into your stomach, the color returning to his face and you can now see the very noticeable blush that bloomed on his cheeks. If anyone else had noticed the way he came from the way you choked him, well they chose not to comment on it, the other Harbingers beginning to leave the room after their moment of entertainment had ended. "Both of you, to the medical bay", Pierro's voice bounces around the room as he takes his leave, leaving you and Tartaglia the last ones in a room that suddenly seemed hot and stuffy. A few minutes of tense silence pass before Childe finally moves from above you, slowly pushing himself up with his uninjured arm until he's sitting on his knees, watching you sit up and stare at his pants. He should be embarrassed, any normal person would be if they were somehow in his situation, but he doesn't make any move to hide the obvious wet spot on his grey pants, evidence that the jolt you felt from him earlier had a much deeper meaning. You cough into your hand, eyes averting from his sin and cheeks burning red, you hear him chuckle before he's occupying your vision again, having moved closer so his face was inches away from yours.
"You fight dirty... I like that in a partner", he's smirking, blue eyes moving from yours to your bloodied nose and lips before he's leaning forward to lick along your upper lip, you shudder when his tongue moves upwards, moving from your cupid's bow to your nose to catch the blood on his tongue. You hiss in pain, pulling your head back and feeling tears prick at your eyes again while Childe laughs, standing up and pulling you to your feet as well so he can sling his arm over your shoulder and begin walking you out of the room and to the medical bay so you both can get patched up and medicated.
"You may have won today, but I'll be expecting a rematch soon, comrade!"
Epitaph: Mmh, violence. If you have read the 2nd chapter of Let You Go, then you'll know this is the fight that Tarts wants a rematch from lmao I'm unsure if I'll start on the rematch, since that will be more smut than violence but we'll see 👀

To Have Loved and Lost Ch. 3
Notes from the Crypt: I'm alive! I must apologize for such a long wait, after I recovered from being sick I fell into a slump, and then things with work began popping up and I was experiencing hella writer's block. I finally sat down today to finish this last chapter of To Have Loved and Lost and I gotta say this is the biggest chapter I've ever written, so I really hope you enjoy! This is going to be the last chapter of this series but I hope you look forward to future work! Chapter 1 here, chapter 2 here and chapter 2.5 here
Tags: GN!Reader, revenge arc, angst, fluff sprinkled in
Summary: You're in your villain revenge arc and prove to Jean and Diluc that you can be the worst thing that's ever happened to them
Tumblr media
“Alright, here’s what I was thinking… Hit them where it hurts the most”
The night ended with a brief brainstorming session, the four of you throwing out ideas on how to taint the perfect reputations of the two most prestigious names in all Mondstadt, before the last call was announced by Charles and you’re forced to leave the tavern with the date of the next meeting. Kaeya walked closely beside you, shoulders almost pressed together while you silently pondered to yourself, thinking of further ideas for your revenge.
“You don’t have to stay, you know”, Kaeya’s voice broke you from your spell, your eyes looking to meet the side profile of the cryo user, who wasn’t looking back at you. You were so enraptured by your ache and bubbling desire for revenge that you had completely forgotten why you visited Diluc in the first place; you went back for your travel permits so you could return to Inazuma. In another lifetime you would have returned to your homeland, heart aching and the drive to just cry with your closest friends and eventually move on, learn to stop being lost in thought over the what ifs and the doubts that plagued your soul, eventually find someone else who would cherish you the way you deserved. This lifetime isn’t that however, and you could only smirk devilishly, stepping closer to bump your shoulder with the man.
“I know, but after what your brother said and did to me, I’ll be damned if I return now without doing something”, there was malice in your tone, bloodthirsty almost, but Kaeya of all people knew that your intentions didn’t match your voice. He still had to suppress a shiver that threatened his spine, sending a genuine smile in your direction instead. He stayed silent the rest of the way home, knowing there was no need for further talk, the last thing you both exchanged was a gentle good night along with a hug before going about your nightly routines and heading off to bed. You were going to need the energy for the long war you were about to bring to Mond.
The morning sun offended your eyelids when it snuck through your open curtains, making you scrunch your face and turn over in hopes of getting more sleep, but your other senses were also starting to wake up as you took in the birdsong outside the window, the gentle breeze flowing through leaves and the scent of pancakes and bacon. You opened your eyes slowly, convinced you were kidnapped during the night as it was rare for Kaeya to cook. Sitting up, you rubbed the sleep from your eyes, legs moving to the side of your bed so you could stand up and stretch. Part of you wants to begin your morning routine of brushing your teeth and washing your face, but your stomach had better plans and guided you towards the kitchen, where your eyes widened slightly at the sight; Kaeya at the stove, still in his sleep bottoms and an apron that covered little of his bare chest. You learned very early on after moving in with the captain that he liked to sleep with little to no clothing on, and while he did offer to let you sleep in the same room as him, you insisted a guest room was fine since you didn’t want to end up embarrassing yourself if you got caught staring at his chest during bedtime. As much as you hate to think of it, Kaeya served as a good distraction when you found yourself thinking too deeply about what your relationship once was. There was more than one occasion where you would find your mind drifting to Diluc and then your vision would be blocked by a handsome, toned chest. There was something about Kaeya when it comes to those moments, as if he could sense your despair and used his charm and good looks to bring you out of that dark place. The sight before you, however, was just Kaeya in the rare mornings you both shared. You leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed and a sleepy smile on your face as you took in the way he flips the pancake he was cooking with elegance.
“If you’re going to just stand there, why not make yourself useful and help me set the table? I’m almost done”, his deep voice was pleasant to hear, he sounded as if he had woken up not too long ago himself. You hummed softly, moving from your place, and quietly setting up the table as he asked, setting down two sets of plates, glassware, and utensils just as Kaeya was finishing up his cooking and moving food onto plates. The morning was just comfortable silence, something you grew to appreciate as you felt it was the only time where your mind and heart were at ease, sitting here with the calvary captain enjoying some nice bacon, even if it was a little overcooked. You teased him about it while washing dishes, giggling at his feigned hurt reaction. With stomachs full and the morning becoming late, you and your icy roommate finally begin your routines of washing up and preparing for the day ahead, the ball of anxiety sits heavy in your stomach as you double checked yourself in the full length mirror that Kaeya owns, the bastard wont even entertain the idea of getting one for your room so you’re forced to use his while he’s putting his accessories on. “If you keep scowling like that, you’ll get wrinkles you know”, Kaeya chuckled from behind you, eye meeting yours in the mirror as you exhaled loudly, as if it would help calm your nerves.
“I know… Just have a lot of thoughts”, you mumbled, turning to face him. Clearing your throat, you reach out and begin to fix his shoulder pelt, not that it needed to be fixed anyway but the soft fur was doing an excellent job at grounding you. Kaeya refrains from voicing the sly comment that was on the tip of his tongue, he’ll tease you about wanting to touch him later when you don’t look like you’re on the verge of tears. Instead, he leans forward to press his lips right where your brows were creased with worry, smiling when he felt the muscles relax and your breath hitches. His hand comes up to wrap around yours as he moved his lips from your brows to your knuckles, placing a gentle kiss on each one before he gives you the softest smile you’ve ever seen. “It’s going to be okay, remember that you’re not doing this alone, and I’ll always be by your side until you’re satisfied”, his eye glints with something mischievous, and the romantic tension in the air morphs into something else as you pulled your hand back to slap at his shoulder, making Kaeya burst out in laughter. It didn’t take long to finish getting ready, meeting each other at the front door before doing your traditional routine of a tight hug, a crack of a joke and where to find the other for emergencies before separating outside, Kaeya going to the Favonius Headquarters and you returning to the tavern to meet back up with Rosaria and Venti to further discuss plans. You’ll relay whatever was said to Kaeya when he gets off work, but you knew you needed to set up a thorough plan if you wanted your justice to be swift and merciless. Before opening the tavern door, you rummaged through your bag, confirming the paperwork you had with you since before you even left home and taking a deep breath before finally entering Angel’s Share. Immediately your eyes landed on the pair you were looking for, a smile on your lips that lasted all but a few seconds, they appeared on edge. You didn’t have time to think why however as you looked over from their spot at one of the tables to the bar, where the one and only Diluc Ragnvindr was standing behind, accompanied by Charles. No one said a word, not you, not the men behind the bar, not your soon to be accomplices, and definitely not the passed-out drunkards at the other tables. Diluc stared at you, expression unreadable and like the smooth dickwad he was, resumed his conversation with Charles as if you didn’t even exist. You swallowed hard, trying to keep your own poker face intact as Charles tilted his head curiously at you, asking a silent question that you subtly shook your head at before walking towards Rosaria and Venti and sitting with them.
“This is bad… Who knew Master Diluc would actually be here today! Should we relocate?”, Venti whisper-yelled at you as soon as you sat down next to him, his question going unanswered as you reached over to pick up his drink and take a big swig out of it. You needed the alcohol to help steel your nerves and who cares if it was 10am on a Monday, no one bats an eye when Venti does his day drinking so who’s gunna fault you for starting just as early? “Just give me a second… I’m thinking”, you whispered back at Venti as you took another sip of his drink, cringing at how strong it was but you didn’t care, the poor bard had to practically wrestle his drink from your grip. “Hey, stop being idiots. He’s watching”, Rosaria whispered into her drink at you both, making you and Venti pause to look over at the bar and directly at Charles and Diluc, who were indeed watching you both wrestle for the mug. Diluc crossed his arms, unamused written all over his features and if you looked closely, you could see a faint scar on his cheek, right where you socked him the last time you saw him a few weeks ago. You felt the shortest moment of pride swell in your chest before it was snuffed out by anxiety, remembering why you were in the tavern in the first place and you were the first to break eye contact, returning your attention to your partners in crime. Diluc sighed, shaking his head, and resuming his conversation with Charles, while you made idle chit chat with Rosaria and Venti, refusing to acknowledge anything about your master plan while the very man you’re conspiring against is physically present. You listened to your bar mates dive into a story completely off topic, the alcohol seeming to affect all of you before your hearing blessed you with eavesdropping into Diluc’s conversation.
“We haven’t heard back about next month’s shipment from Ookami’s, and our current supplies are starting to dwindle, what do you suppose we do Master Diluc?”, Charles’ voice wasn’t loud, but with the lack of more active bodies in the tavern, it didn’t take much to pick up on the name he mentioned. It took a lot from you not to break out into a grin, recognizing the name immediately as it was something you were heavily involved in. Ookami’s is a rather famous sake house located in Inazuma, part of its appeal to customers was the anonymity of the owner that is said to work in the shadows, using the faces of their closest business companions to represent them in interviews and magazines. It took a lot of trial and error for the company to get to where its at now, going from a humble little sake house in Inazuma City to branching out to other nations that hold several warehouses and contracts. You’re rather proud of the work, leaving the warehouses to your business partners yet keeping the contracts of every tavern that asked to serve your goods, you felt like the most powerful being in Angel’s Share, being the object of Charles’ conversation. You knew it was only a matter of time before Diluc sent out another letter to Ookami’s, trying to get to the bottom of the sudden stop in shipment, which you absolutely did have something to do with. It was no rumor that you liked to work in the shadows, you rather liked the simplicity of your current life before it went to Hell. The spotlight wasn’t something that attracted you, you couldn’t see yourself doing these interviews or look forward to your page in magazines, so you left the task to those you knew were a much better fit to represent you. Of course, they never took the credit for themselves, always addressing you as Master Ookami and expertly redirecting conversation should it try to pry into your personal life and whereabouts. You were left to live your life as normally as you wanted, so when you visited Mondstadt to personally see how your wares were faring in Angel’s Share, a nation so far from home, you hadn’t expected to fall for the wine tycoon who still is unaware of how much power you actually had.
“I’ll send another letter today, and hopefully one of their representatives will actually respond, in the meantime just keep selling what we have”, Diluc huffs, clearly annoyed that his business was beginning to suffer a little, and you cracked a smirk at that. Two weeks ago, you sent an urgent letter to your partners, telling them to cease shipment to Angel’s Share until further notice and any letters addressed from Diluc should be redirected to you at Kaeya’s address, under no circumstances should he be made aware where his inquires are being sent to. You hummed to yourself, Rosaria and Venti going silent as you stood from the table, pointing your gaze to the door and after a few seconds they also stand, wobbling slightly towards the door and going back to bickering with each other. Diluc pauses, watching as you approach the bar with a sweet smile not aimed at him. “Charles… Be a dear and give me a shot of Ookami’s sakura sake?”, you purred, reaching into your bag for your mora pouch while your drink was being poured for you. Giving him a few coins, you picked up the glass, and while making direct eye contact with Diluc, downed the liquid in a single go and returned the glass to Charles with a wink. “You may want to think about switching to something else, as we’re experiencing… difficulties with our sponsor”, Diluc comments, tensing when you looked at him, or rather at his scar.
“From Ookami’s? Hm, wonder why, that sake is good stuff”, you feign a sigh, returning your mora pouch to your bag before bidding your farewell to Charles and leaving the tavern, returning to your tipsy friends, and guiding them to Cat’s Tail instead. You spent the majority of the day polishing up details of your revenge, giving Rosaria and Venti specific tasks that you knew they could execute flawlessly and only when the sun was beginning to set did you remember that Kaeya was getting off work soon and you rushed to finish the meeting, much to Venti’s relief after sniffling and sneezing the entire time. After making sure the drunks could actually walk themselves home, you hurried to the Knights’ Headquarters to wait for sir tall, dark, and handsome, only to interrupt what appears to be a sweet moment between Jean and Diluc. You felt bile in the back of your throat as you paused a little bit away from the entrance, noticing that Athos and Porthos were no longer guarding the front doors which gave them the needed privacy to share a kiss. You contemplated turning back, unable to face them together, let alone apart, but they already spotted you and were awkwardly stepping away from each other, as if they were still trying to keep their relationship a secret. “y/n? what can the knights help you with?”, Jean asks, putting on her acting grandmaster act that makes your blood boil, the way she still holds herself all high and mighty as if she didn’t have a hand to play in your suffering, in why you’re doing what you’re doing now. All logic went through the window the moment she spoke, and you opened your mouth to almost put your plan through the shitter if it wasn’t for Kaeya emerging from the doors, a tired look on his face that brightened up when he saw you. “I hope I haven’t kept you waiting doll, thank you for coming all this way”, his voice broke through your tension, and like a true guardian angel, he takes his place by your side and drapes an arm around your shoulders, ignoring Jean and Diluc in favor of pulling you close to kiss your temple. Your eyes never strayed from the pair, watching how Diluc seems to ruffle at the act of intimacy, and how Jean is trying not to jump to conclusions regarding her calvary captain and her lover’s ex.
“What’s going on here?”, Diluc was the first to speak, choosing to call it out as he sees fit and his frown only deepens when Kaeya smirks his way. “Whatever do you mean? It’s clear to see my roommate came all this way to make sure I get home safe”, to really drive home the point, Kaeya moves his hand from your shoulders to your waist, and you had to fight the blush that was blooming on your cheeks, subconsciously putting your hands on his chest but not having the strength to push him away.
“That’s inappropriate, Kaeya”, Diluc glared at his brother, fist clenching when the cryo user only laughed in response. “Inappropriate? One would think you would know more about that than I do, Master Diluc”, Kaeya’s gaze darkened, and for once you felt the air drop in temperature around the captain, Diluc’s bold claim seemed to get under Kaeya’s skin, and he was struggling to keep his emotions and therefore his vision, in check. Acting quickly, you pulled away from Kaeya’s hold to start dragging him away, without a goodbye to the acting grandmaster and her dog. Kaeya followed without a struggle, the only noise from him was a huff as you took him home and pinched the bridge of your nose, not in annoyance with him but with yourself for almost blowing your own plan. “Hey, how about some wine?”, Kaeya takes your hands in his to lead you into the kitchen, where he wastes no time in pulling out a bottle of wine and a pair of glasses to pour it into. You set your bag on the table, nodding as you pulled out the paperwork you had with you and quietly thanking the man when he places a full glass in your waiting palm. You take a sip as you picked up the first letter Diluc sent out, the handwriting as gorgeous as the man himself as you read and re-read the contents as if you hadn’t gotten them memorized by heart. “To our friends at Ookami’s, I am writing to inquire about the sudden stop in shipment to the Angel’s Share, blah blah blah”, Kaeya began as he poured his own glass, earning a snort and a chuckle from you. Aside from your business partners in Inazuma, there was a very small number of people who knew you were the owner of the famous sake house, you chose to tell Kaeya of your ‘secret identity’ as it was a vital piece of information that you were going to use against Diluc, not to mention you couldn’t even begin to figure out how you’d continue to keep it a secret if you were having letters sent to his place addressed to ‘Master Ookami’. You thought of it as no big deal, you knew Kaeya wouldn’t go around Mondstadt boasting about some top-secret information about you, but you were unaware of how his heart flutters in the knowledge that you trusted him enough to reveal something that quite frankly, was pretty big in the alcohol industry. Not only did Diluc break your heart, but he possibly royally fucked his sponsorship over with Ookami’s, and it’s currently the number one name that’s bringing his tavern revenue.
“Come sit, I’ll bring you up to speed on what happened today”, you pull out the chair next to you as you sat down, patting the seat and giggling when Kaeya sits and makes a show of scooting closer to you. From his perspective, he can really see the hardworking individual that you are from the way you present things, laying out your master plan that you talked about with Rosaria and Venti, their roles and even walking him through his part in the plan, its clear to see that you put a lot of heart and thought into really shoving his brother and the acting grandmaster as far into the dirt as you can. It was endearing, if you ignored your want to absolutely destroy them the way they did to you, but it still brought a smile to Kaeya’s face as he studied your face through your presentation, absorbing every detail.
You gave everyone a rough estimation of two months before shit hit the fan, which was ironic since it took two months before you found out that the love of your life was cheating on you, but fate calls it karma. While you were working behind the scenes to continue stringing Diluc along with his missing shipments, your entourage were hard at work out on the streets. Like how many things start, a small rumor was all it took for your master plan to start everything planned. Similar to a seed, it was planted just outside of Cat’s Tail, a whisper here and there detailing sightings of Master Diluc and Acting Grandmaster Jean behaving inappropriately with each other around the city, and that rumor only spread like wildfire that Diluc was unloyal to poor little ole you, who most people knew you left your life behind in Inazuma to be with him. Jean grew suspicious much quicker than you thought after she tried to ask Kaeya if he had any idea of who started the rumors, which he could only shrug and say he was too busy catching up on paperwork to go out and catch whoever was starting gossip. “Can you maybe ask y/n if they’ve heard anything?”, she tried to ask, faking sincerity in her voice that Kaeya could only quirk a brow at. “Even if I wanted to, I can’t… Haven’t you heard? They went to visit Liyue days before the rumors began, so that’s evidence that they didn’t start them, don’t you think?”, he narrowed his eye at her, watching the way she deflates. He had a point, you weren’t currently in Mondstadt, part of your plan was to leave the city as soon as Rosaria began the rumor at Cat’s Tail so you could have a credible alibi and not have fingers immediately pointed at you, the scorned lover. No one needed to know exactly why you went to Liyue, but if a prying acting grandmaster really had to know, Kaeya was instructed to tell her that you were requested by a family member who moved to Liyue, even though you went not only for leisure but to see how your wares were doing at Third Round Knockout, sipping a warm cup of tea while you sat with Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s consultant listening to one of his many stories. You listened without worry, knowing that your accomplices were doing their best to turn Mondstadt into your battleground, the rumors circulated, growing bigger with each passing day and with it, so did Diluc and Jean’s stress. Diluc has yet to receive a response from Ookami’s just as he had run out of their supply of sake, and with the rumors making their rounds around town, he found out from Charles that hardly anyone visits the tavern now, not wanting to be a part of any drama. Anyone that does stop by is either a traveler passing through, or a green bard who is allergic to cats and a tired nun who refuses to drink at Cat’s Tail without him.
Weeks went by just as similar, Jean and Diluc would wake and prepare for the day, only to be blindsided and left feeling uneasy seeing how the townsfolk would whisper and laugh behind their backs, no doubt adding more to the rumors that were already beginning to break away at their status. ‘Did you hear? Master Diluc was caught in bed with the acting grandmaster’, ‘Poor y/n, if they find out they’ll be crushed’, ‘The other day I saw a purple mark on acting grandmaster Jean’s neck, I wonder who that could have come from’. The stress was becoming too much for Jean as she sat with her sister in the cathedral one day, weeping into her hands while Barbara patted her shoulder in consolidation. “I just don’t understand why someone would spread those rumors, what have I ever done to deserve this?”, Jean sobbed, missing how Barbara furrowed her brows.
“Jean… I know this isn’t the best time, but I need you to be honest, here in front of Lord Barbatos”, Barbara began, and Jean lifts her head to hiccup and give her a questioning gaze. “Did you… sleep with Master Diluc while he was in a relationship with y/n?”, the words were whispered, but even through Jean’s sniffles it was clear, and to hear a question come from her own sister was enough to send a cold chill up her spine, her silence speaking volumes. “Oh archons”, Barbara teared up, the weight of revelation heavy on her as she stood, Jean following suit and breaking out into another sob. “Barbara wait, please! I… I can explain, I…”, she choked out, legs too weak to follow Barbara as she hurried off, whether to pray for forgiveness on behalf of Jean or because it was just too much for her to handle, Jean will never know. She breaks down, guilt and remorse overwhelming her as she sobs in the middle of the cathedral, thankful of its emptiness but still uncaring should anyone stumble upon her in her current state. She leaves alone, empty, and numb but with a clear mind and time to self-reflect, time to realize that no matter how you tell the story, what she did to you was unforgiveable and she knew what she had to do to begin to help make it right. So, when she sees Diluc standing outside of her abode, worry written all over his face when he spots her, she hopes that you can find it within yourself to forgive her one day. “Jean… what happened? Are you alright?”, Diluc reached out towards her but pauses when she reels back, hurt and disgust evident in her eyes that makes Diluc’s heart clench. “Diluc… I can’t do this anymore… I’m sorry”, Jean’s voice came out hoarse, but it was still enough to drive a spear through Diluc’s heart, crushing him bitterly. He remained silent despite the many questions running through his head, ones he didn’t need answers for when he knew exactly why she was breaking up with him; the rumors had a big part to play but he also knew that deep down, what he and Jean did to you was also eating away at her just as it had with him, he confirmed it after he saw the way Kaeya acted with you, protecting you as though you were something precious to him. His hand fell to his side, fist clenching as he watched Jean enter her home and promptly close the door, leaving him out of her house and her life. He returns to Dawn Winery alone and empty, the only sliver of hope in his life being the letter addressed to him from Ookami’s saying that a representative will meet with him within the next few days for further discussion.
Angel’s Share is bustling with life the next time Diluc comes in for a shift, surprising him greatly, only for his surprise to twist into anxiety when he saw that it was a welcome back party for you, who returned from Liyue the night before. At Kaeya’s insistence, he brings a number of knights with him along with Rosaria and a Venti who is tuning his lyre, prepared to sing a tale he heard of recently. Diluc doesn’t miss the way Kaeya sets his hand on your thigh while he laughs at one of the knight’s stories, nor does he miss the way your lips stretch into a smile, one that doesn’t look forced. He couldn’t help but stare at how plump your lips look, to briefly reminisce how they fit perfectly with his. “Ladies, Gentlemen… y/n~, I am now about to sing to you a recently popular tale, so sit back and enjoy!”, Venti giggles before he strums his lyre and dives into an overexaggerated telling of your story, names omitted so none would be the wiser. To the drunkards, it was the catchy tune that had them slinging arms around each other and singing the words after Venti, but for Diluc it was a nightmare. It was clear to him that the story was fabricated from the rumors, but for it to have gained enough popularity that there was a song about it, he didn’t know if he could save what’s left of his dignity by kicking the bard out. To add salt to the wounds, he caught the way you stared at him with a knowing look as Venti continued to sing your tale, and as if time were slowing down Diluc realized. ‘I hope something else comes along and ruins your life with Jean too’, those were part of the last words you exchanged with him after you punched him, and Diluc could only look on in slight horror as he realized that you were behind everything. The rumors, the citizens mocking him and Jean behind their backs, the bard currently finishing his song in his tavern, everything was your doing. He wanted to be angry, but who can he turn to when the acting grandmaster is also a victim of your heinous deeds and no one in town takes him serious anymore? He stands behind the bar, defeated as you leaned more into Kaeya and clapped along with the other patrons as they screamed for encores from the bard. Venti sang more stories well into the night, and the Knights began to filter out at Diluc’s call of last rounds, and as you bid farwell to Venti and pecked a kiss to Kaeya’s cheek with a request to wait for you outside, you’re left by yourself with the owner himself. Diluc frowns at you, wiping a glass as you sat at the bar and began to rummage through your bag, pulling out a single sheet of paper and presenting it to him on the bar. His brows knit together as he scans the sheet, recognizing it as the contract he has with Ookami’s and he nearly drops the glass he’s wiping.
“Y…You? You’re the representative from Ookami’s who’s meeting with me?”, he asks incredulously, and is even more puzzled when you tilt your head in confusion. “representative? Oh, no, I’m Master Ookami”, you chuckle as if he told you a joke as you watched his expression go from shocked to serious within seconds. It was clear he didn’t believe you, and you anticipated that as you reached into your bag to pull out the rest of your contracts, placing each one on the table as he looks over them, the serious glint in his eyes morphing into slight fear. You intertwine your hands together, chin resting atop your hands as you flashed him a mocking smile. “I’m here to cancel my contract with Angel’s Share following recent rumors, you must understand that whatever bad rumors you circulate will reflect on my brand, so we have to let you go”, you sighed, collecting your other contracts and placing them back in your bag before lifting the one you had with Diluc and tearing it in half right in front of him, then tossing the pieces at him with a frown. Diluc could only watch the paper float to the floor as he finally feels himself break under you, the nauseating sensation of defeat along with the helpless feeling of no one to turn to fills his empty shell with something he could only wonder was the same you experienced that night. He was left to wonder as you exited the tavern to a waiting Kaeya, a soft smile on his face while he takes you into his arms under moonlight. “Well, are you satisfied?”, he asks, chuckling when you pretend to think and flash him a mischievous smile.
“I’ll say this is the best ending I could have achieved, but I think it could be missing something”, you hum, eyes moving to his lips as he swallows hard. For a while you both knew something changed in the air, but with recent events it was hard to sit down and properly discuss these feelings. With your revenge arc coming to a close, you wonder if the next chapter of your life will remain in Mondstadt, a question that didn’t need a voiced answer as Kaeya leans closer to finally kiss you, your lips as soft as he dreamed.
Epitaph: This piece can also be found on AO3. My Boyfriend's Boyfriend
Notes from the crypt: I'm real excited for the Childe rerun, I've got his cage set up and ready, I've got a water bowl, kibble, a wheel for him to run on. If he doesn't come home im bullying him, so I wrote this in hopes I earn his favor
Tags: GN!Reader, established relationship, implied cheating, misunderstanding, Aether is in this and he's STRESSED, headcanons
Tumblr media
• Aether knows exactly who you are, in fact he was ecstatic when Zhongli casually mentioned that he wanted the Honorary Knight of Favonius to meet his lover. He's met plenty of people during his travels, mortals and gods alike, but to be personally invited to meet the one that holds the former geo archon's heart, he wonders what kind of soul you must be to fit into that role.
• Are you also a god? Were you maybe an adeptus that struck his fancy? Or were you some witch that has him under a spell? Questions flooded his mind as he silently follows the consultant to a small teahouse, compared to Yangsheng Teahouse, this place was about a third of its size and screamed comfortable atmosphere. He'll shyly admit that he entered your humble shop on high alert, somehow convincing himself that you're a threat and Zhongli may need his help.
• "I can assure you that I am of sound body and mind to engage in this relationship with my dear (y/n), so you need not raise your hackles", Zhongli chuckles beside him, the archon could sense Aether's emotions spiral from the moment they approached the teahouse, and the poor blonde flushes in embarrassment before you made your appearance. The traveler could see the way Zhongli's smile grows fonder as he takes you into his arms, soft greetings exchanged along with a sweet kiss that makes him avert his eyes.
• After introductions are made he learns that you are indeed a witch, but you speciailize in tea readings and remedies, your powers are not strong enough to slip a love spell in anyone's drink, and even if you did, it would be exhausting to keep up the flow of energy. Your day to day life involved long days of tea brewing, serving and readings to help the local populace. People often came to you with questions of their love life, finances and future, and you make sure they leave with answers and a pep in their step. He's pleasantly surprised when you offered to read his tea leaves after enjoying a cup, you managed to detail his latest feats after a couple of minutes of concentration and promised him very good fortune in his upcoming days.
• He often found himself returning to your little shop when he wants to destress, along with your good company you made some damn good tea and other goodies, so he's surprised when you werent there to greet him when he walked in. He was greeted by Zhongli instead, clad in the same uniform he saw on you, turns out the consultant likes to spend his free time helping you and the shop, this time you had to step away to help a client, leaving him in charge. Aether thinks nothing of it, ordering his usual tea and pastry and sitting down at a table to wait. He really appreciates the relaxing atmosphere you offer, it was like coming home after a long hard day of work and being enveloped in a warm blanket, it distracted him enough to not notice the ginger harbinger sitting a few tables away, also relishing in the homey feeling.
• Its like he was pulled from a trance when he saw Zhongli walk past his table, stopping next to Childe to set down his order of tea and a slice of cake before Aether saw something that made his blood run cold: Zhongli leaning down to press his lips against the harbinger's in a kiss eerily similar to the one he shared with you. He couldn't believe the sight, a mix of emotions coursing through him. He feels almost betrayed, seeing someone he considers a friend do something like that, he also feels hurt and angry for you, wondering how long this secret affair was going on behind your back. The revelation sat heavy in his gut, he had to excuse himself before he could receive his order, disappearing from the shop to Zhongli's disappointment.
• He's ashamed to admit that he ghosted Zhongli, finding excuses when the archon would request him in favor of visiting you at your house instead. He was torn, part of him wanted to tell you exactly what he saw, but the other part wasnt ready to witness the inevitable break down you'd have, his heart aches at the very thought of you crying. You seemed none the wiser, inviting him into your home and even cooking for him, confiding with him that you havent been able to spend time with Zhongli lately, so you were beginning to feel lonely. He vowed that he will tell you one day, but for now he needs to protect you.
• From an outsider's perspective it seemed almost comical the way Aether would accompany you when you were running errands in the city and suddenly he'll turn your attention in a different direction when he spots Zhongli or Childe in the crowd. You'll hear a shout of your name at the pier, go to look and all of a sudden the blonde is taking your hand and whisking you away, commenting on some new dish a restaurant is serving on the other side of the city, and if you dont hurry then the line will get too long.
• Unfortunately you two were cornered at Bubu Pharmacy, the place that has only one entrance. You had to go visit Dr Baizhu to pick up some herbs as well as medicine, "for someone special", you smiled at Aether's questioning gaze. It didn't take long for his answer to literally step into the pharmacy, a fake smile on his face to hide the annoyance in his voice. "There you are sweetheart, we've been looking everywhere for you", Childe's voice made the traveler freeze, wide eyes looking towards the two tall men that blocked the entrance. Zhongli's expression was unreadable, yet his crossed arms hinted at the equal annoyance he felt. His stomach dropped, instinctively stepping in front of you before confusion overtook him when you ran towards the two, eagerly showing off the bundles of herbs in your arms. "Huh?"
• "B-But... I saw.... I saw Zhongli kissing Childe in the teahouse! I thought....", Aether's head was starting to hurt, how could you stand in front of them with such a happy look on your face? Were you perhaps already aware of the adultery? Did you not care?? You looked at him quizzically, head tilting before recognition flashed through your eyes and you furrowed your brows at Zhongli, who's cogs seemed to finally turn in his head. "Darling....... Did you forget to tell Aether that we're also dating Childe?"
• Childe was nearly blue in the face from laughing so hard, and Zhongli was coughing awkwardly into his fist, cheeks adorably flushed. You pat Aether's back, comforting him through his internal crisis of finding out that while it was rare, it wasnt unheard of that parties of three or even more would engage in a romantic relationship. He felt like a fool, actively pulling you away from the men who were a deeper part of your life than he realized, and another wave of guilt made him hide his face at the implication that he was hoarding you away all for himself.
• Back at the teahouse, Aether listens to the men gushing about how their infatuation with you came to be. Zhongli appreciates your determination and love of tea, the way you work hard to personally oversee the quality and serve each cup with a smile on your face. In the early stages he was the one silently listening to you drone on about the origins of the tea you used, if it has medicinal qualities and just overall infodumping, he didnt have the heart to tell you that he already knew, he simply enjoyed the way your eyes lit up and how eager you were to share your knowledge. Childe was obsessed with how you made him feel warm and welcomed, even though he was associated with the fatui. You never turned him away, never treated him differently, the moment he stepped into your shop you welcomed him with open arms and a bright smile that had him smitten. He knew you were the one when he stumbles into your shop one rainy night, soaking and bleeding, startling you while you were in the middle of closing up. Luckily there werent any customers, the closed sign long been put up but even as he bled all over your floors and tables, you ushered him deeper into the teahouse, to the back where you kept your supplies and patched him up. He could still remember how warm your hands felt against his skin as you gently rubbed ointment on the sutures you used to close his deeper wounds, the way you hush him softly when he tried to stutter out apologies and promises of buying you new furniture. Neither you or him told Aether of how he cried in your arms that night.
• Aether honestly felt like a weight was lifted from his shoulders after the embarrassing ordeal, he could sleep better at night knowing that you were being loved and protected. He still visits your teahouse, even bringing friends from other nations to try your delicacies, one of his friends is already asking if he can serve your tea in his tavern, profits going to you of course, and another is asking for your recipe of the delicious treat he knows a certain commissioner will love.

• You loved Childe, you really did, but there comes a point where the weight of carrying a relationship by yourself becomes exhausting. Its exactly whats been going on with you and the Harbinger in the recent months of your dwindling love.
• In the beginning he was very attentive, taking time out of his day to see you or would even send letters when he was away from Liyue, but he still made you feel loved, he made you feel complete. It was a strong relationship, as strong as his passion for being out on the battlefield, until that passion began to far surpass your expectations and the letters along with his presence began to grow scarce.
• The moment you saw him after he disappeared for 8 months — you were thrown into an argument. You tried speaking with him amicably, express how much you had missed him, how worried you had grown when he didn't respond to your letters or even give you a sign that he was still alive, still breathing, yet he was quick to bare his fangs. "My mission comes first, [name], you know that", he'd say, annoyance laced in his tone that only drives the blade deeper into your already aching heart. "But 8 months, Ajax? You could have at least sent a letter!", you were exasperated, tired beyond belief and he still chose to brush you aside. "Well, I'm here now, can we please drop it".
• Childe developed a habit of ignoring these kinds of issues, he'd instead give you gifts or leave you with too much mora in hopes that you'd just get over it, but the material goods weren't enough to fill the growing void in your heart, they weren't warm enough to hold you through the cold nights you spent without him. Like clockwork, he presents you with tickets to the next boat to Inazuma, with a smile far too bright to be genuine and plans of sightseeing and souvenir shopping for you and his family. While you knew he was trying to sweep the argument under the rug, you were desperate for even a few minutes with him so you agreed and packed your bags.
• The boat ride to the nation of eternity was like a dream, you never left Childe's arms as he detailed you stories of his journey, catching you up on how his family is doing and even telling you the places he wanted to show you when you arrive in Inazuma. For those few hours you truly felt happy, so the tears were justified when the boat arrived in Ritou and your boyfriend was promptly whisked away by a group of Fatuus that were waiting for his arrival; details of a very last minute mission barely leaving their lips while you're left by yourself. Feeling your heart shatter with every step he took away from you, you shed your grief on the pier before deciding no longer will you lament for a man who cant even find time for you anymore.
• Once your documents were approved you made the journey to Inazuma City by yourself, head held high despite your red waterline from crying. You were able to at least enjoy the scenery, the setting sun made the falling sakura petals look ethereal, and the city made you even more awestruck with its atmosphere and lighting. Finding the hotel quickly, you paid for a room and got settled in before heading back out for some food, the scents that surrounded you when you arrived were mouth watering, so after washing your face to calm your skin you rushed back out to look around the selections of food stalls and restaurants. It all looked and smell good but with your lack of knowledge of what was what, you decided to just pick a stall and hope whatever they sold was good (you'd later find out everything was good, like really good).
• Tomoki was the gentleman manning the stall and you learned that he only sold one thing: dango milk. You also learned that its not exactly a common treat in the nation, but he's working on trying to gain more attention to it, he's pleased when you place an order for a bottle, rummaging through your pockets for your mora pouch before you freeze. Did you leave your pouch in your hotel room? Patting yourself a second time, you confirm that you definitely forgot to bring money with you in your rush and stammer over your words. Sensing your distress, Tomoki was prepared to just give you the milk free of charge before a gloved hand extends his way, the way the vendor freezes up in shock has you following his line of sight to take in the looming figure beside you. You don't recognize the man, but he must be a figure of authority with how the vendor is stuttering over his words, bowing sharply and holding both hands out to accept the few coins of mora that was dropped into his palms. "L-Lord Kamisato! It's rare to see you out so late my lord, wh-what an honor that you've decided to visit my humble shop!", the vendor practically beams as he straightens up and offers two bottles of dango milk to the man.
• "Think nothing of it, Tomoki. I was simply out on a stroll and had a craving, looks like I got here just in time", the man takes the two bottles before he turns to you, offering you one with a stunning smile. You stare dumbly at him, mesmerized by his lilac eyes and the cute mole beside his lower lip. You notice a few seconds too late that he was offering you dango milk, your finger pointing at the item in question and then back at yourself in a silent ponder that he chuckles deeply at and nods. Oh, that's a dangerous chuckle, it takes everything in you to fight against the blush that's threatening to bloom across your cheeks as you take the bottle from him. You definitely feel the tips of your ears grow hot at how he brushed his fingers against yours, even with gloves on you could feel his warmth in the chilly night. "Thank you... My lord", you clear your throat, awkwardly bowing before him and missing the way his eyes darken in amusement. His expression is welcoming when you straighten, and he coaxes you to walk with him. Its silent at first, he's sipping from his drink and you take the chance to take an experimental sip of yours, intrigued by the sweetness and the texture. "Kamisato Ayato, pleasure to make your acquaintance. Judging from your attire, you must not be from Inazuma, is this your first time visiting the nation?", Ayato asks softly while he leads you away from the bustling night life.
• His question makes your heart hurt, remembering that you're supposed to be enjoying this moment with a certain redhead, but instead he's who knows where. "Oh, I'm [name], and yeah... I'm supposed to be on vacation with my boyfriend but uh, as you can see he's not with me", you sigh, swallowing the lump thats forming in your throat while you follow Ayato to what appears to be a teahouse. He's silent, leading you to a table that was outside and ushering you to sit while turning to the woman who was stationed outside and asked her to prepare some tea, "for my guest and I". She bows, turning sharply and entering the teahouse while Ayato takes a seat across from you, the aura of power he was just exuding morphing into one of friendliness. The smile he gives you is soft, there's a glint of understanding in his gaze that makes you wanna just pour out all your sorrows to this man, but you refrain from saying anymore to someone you just met. Hell, you don't even know if you should have followed him, but with the way the vendor reacted you had a hunch that he was someone important, so you're probably in safe hands.
• "My sincerest apologies for your unfortunate situation, no one deserves to be treated as an afterthought", you feel tears well up in your eyes, you never got an apology from Childe, so to hear one from the man sitting across from you was almost hard to hear. He said it so casually, so easily and yet Childe struggled so hard to even form an "im sorry". Shock flashes through Ayato's handsome features when you hiccup a sob, and then a flurry of apologies as you try to compose yourself, fanning your face with your hands and blinking away the tears that are streaming down your face. "Fuck, im sorry — hold on give me a minute", you're chuckling along with your whimpers but the dam continues to break when Ayato moves to your side and rubs a gloved hand along your back. "Would you like a hug?", he whispers to you, waiting until he got your consent before he's bringing you into his arms, his embrace is warm, its comforting and its enough to bring you to a sobbing mess, crying into his shoulder and clinging onto him as if he were a lifeline, and in that moment he was one. He's rubbing your back with one hand and holding your head with the other, rocking you back and forth until your sobs turn into sniffles and then into silence that are broken by the occasional deep sigh. You're the one that pulls away, apologizing profusely for leaving a wet spot on his shoulder that he brushes off and reaching towards the table to pick up a cup of tea that you didnt even notice was there — oh god that meant the woman from before witnessed your breakdown.
• You take the tea he offers you — lukewarm green tea, and he guides you into a conversation about yourselves. Nothing says bonding like crying on a stranger's shoulder and then asking about their favorite food. You're secretly horrified to learn that you cried on the shoulder of the Yashiro Commissioner, and briefly wonder if you'll be jailed for soiling his pristine suit, but he reassures you that its not a crime to feel human emotion and his retainer will make sure not a stain is left behind. Time seems to flow quickly with Ayato, conversation comes easy with him, it barely felt like an hour before the table is being approached by a panting blonde claiming that its past midnight and the Kamisato Estate is growing worried of Ayato's lack of presence. "Oh? That time already?", even Ayato is surprised by how late you two conversed, yet he still insisted on walking you back to your hotel. Thoma is the name of the man who ran to fetch his master, and he's pleased to know that Ayato made a new friend with you, he reminds you of a puppy if you had to be honest. He stands a few feet away while Ayato walks you to the entrance of the hotel. "I enjoyed this time with you, [name]. If you're free tomorrow, I'd love to give you a proper tour of Inazuma", he brings your hand to his lips and presses a kiss to your knuckles that sets your cheeks ablaze, and you agree a second later. Sleep doesnt come easy to you, your mind alight with previous conversation and the kiss you can still feel on your skin.
• Your heart was fluttering in your chest when you hear knocks at your door the next morning. Assuming it was Ayato you double check yourself in the mirror before hurrying to open the door, your bright smile falling when you see Childe on the other side, a bouquet of flowers in his hand and bandages adorning his face. He looks sheepish, guilty almost and you would have fallen for his kicked puppy look if you weren't left behind at the pier the day prior. "Hey! I see you got a hotel, thats good, I picked these up on the way —" "I'm breaking up with you, Childe". You're just as surprised as he was at your outburst, you weren't even thinking, you just said it, yet the sentence felt liberating. "Wh... What? Baby, thats not funny —" "you made your intentions clear when you continue to choose your missions over me. You left me behind too many times and now... Now I'm the one leaving you", you're trembling, tears lining your waterline, staring down Childe as he tries to stammer through explanations — excuses — before you're both interrupted by Ayato clearing his throat. "I believe they have made themselves clear, Harbinger. I suggest making yourself and your agents scarce before I send in a tip to the Raiden Shogun", his tone is laced with clear malice, you can practically feel the condensation in the air from the tension rolling off the two hydro allogenes. Childe looks between the commissioner and you, dots connecting in his head and his face begins to contort into anger, your vision is swiftly blocked by a broad back as Ayato takes your place in looking down at Childe in a silent contest of dominance. You press closer against his back, heart pounding against your chest so hard you were sure he could feel it and then you hear the retreating sounds of Childe's boots. Looking over, you see him toss the bouquet into a trash bin before going through the door, hopefully for the last time.
• "Are you hurt?", Ayato's whisper reaches your ears and you look to see he had turned around and was holding your hands in his, concern etched all over his features. He'll get wrinkles if he keeps that up. "I-I'm better now that you're here", you smile at him, unaware the power your smile holds over him. He had fallen for you the moment he laid eyes on you yesterday, and now that he has you in his life, he's sure to never let you go. As promised, he gave you a grand tour of Inazuma, showing you sights that many were often prohibited of witnessing and filling you to the brim with samples of the food, he'd commit your expressions to memory, even the ones that didnt seem to enjoy a dish, he'd laugh at the way your nose scrunches up if something was too sour or not what you expected it to taste like. The day was better than you imagined, your grieving heart slowly being mended by Ayato's delicate touch, he kept you entertained well into the night, where he took you to a special location to witness some fireworks. Sure, Yoimiya was testing out some new products but she was all for giving a private viewing to the commissioner and his special friend, hands tightly encased and your head leaning against his shoulder as you watched the dazzling colors and fun images some of the inazuman children wanted to bring to life.
• Similar to the circle of life, all good things must come to an end. Your vacation was meant to be for a few days, and Ayato doesn't know what to do with the tight feeling in his chest, in just a few hours he'd have to let you go, even when he offered you a permanent residence with him, you were adamant that you needed to return to Liyue, you needed time for yourself. He was glued to your side the entire time, buying anything you gandered at for a second too long and insisting you take it, "as a souvenir of course", your poor bag was barely able to close with how much he bought you. "You'll get wrinkles if you frown like that, my lord", you snicker in front of him on the pier, one of your hands pulling from his grip to gently massage the muscle between his brows, yet he only pouts further, pulling you into his arms to press his face against the crook of your neck. "Don't call me that, I only want you addressing me as Ayato", he mumbles against your skin, the vibrations tickling you and making you giggle. His heart drops at the sound of the boat's horn, a signal for final boarding for all passengers and he contemplates how upset you'd be if he just held onto you and never let you board. A gentle call of his name has him pulling away, bringing your hands up so he can pepper kisses against them. "How about I leave you with something, hm? That way, I can return for it", you smile at his questioning expression, hands cupping his face before you lean forward to press your lips against his, the kiss gentle and fleeting. He's chasing after your lips when you pull away, you both falling into a giggling fit with cheeks tinted. "Oh? Ill keep it safe for your return, my dear", he smirks, heart full of love as he presses a final kiss to your cheek and lets you go, watching you board the boat and staying in the same spot until it was long out of his view.
• He's pleased to see a letter sitting on top of his pile of paperwork a month after your departure, your name neatly written across the envelope. His hands tremble slightly as he opens it, heart pounding in his chest as he reads the words carefully, face splitting into a cheek-aching grin when he reads that you'll be returning to Inazuma in a month's time, this time permanently.

Summary: You danced a little too closely with death after acquiring your unique gift, and revelations are made.
Tumblr media
 You stared blankly at the assortment of innocent looking foods in front of you; healthy servings of onigiri, Sakura tempura and rice cake soup. Thoma sat across from you with an open notebook, pen waiting to note down your results as he stared at you expectantly. Ayato sat beside him, sipping his boba drink loudly as he also stared, expression unreadable. The tension in the air ran a shiver up your spine, even though the estate was the safest location you could stay in, you couldn’t help but feel as though you were under the piercing gazes of predators on the hunt. The silence dragged on while you thought back to how you even got roped into doing this kind of thing in the first place;

Being friends with the traveler opened many doors in your adventuring career. As a resident of Sumeru, your hunger for knowledge was what drove you to learn more about the other nations in Teyvat alongside their cultures and people. As someone who grew up in the rainforests with the rangers however, you often hungered for the strange plants you came across in the wilds, it was a habit you unintentionally picked up from a long eared old friend. That habit ended up becoming your greatest weapon after many arduous years of trial and error, much to the dismay of your ranger friends. Many times, you almost faced death only to be pulled by its clutches thanks to Tighnari and his quick thinking, yet even as he scolded you to high Celestia, nothing could stop you from rushing headfirst back into danger for the sake of knowledge. At the near cost of your friend’s sanity, you ended up either blessed or pitied by the gods as you grew an immunity to the poisons you consumed, but that simply fueled your desire to go out and learn more. Your travels first began in the city of contracts, as it was the chasm you entered when you left Gandharva Ville, the vast destruction was both intimidating and appealing to you. You only managed to make it out alive by being miraculously found by a Millileth soldier, who was quite shocked to see you wandering aimlessly around while shoving Qinxing flowers in your mouth. You were escorted into the city that you ended up spending a few months in, becoming acquainted to its people, culture, and food thanks to the soldier who found you, and eventually welcomed you into his home. Having a roommate who was native to the lands helped immensely in your studies, as he had maps of the region and connections to people if you had any questions he could not answer. To this day you still keep in touch with him, even after the countless times he had to drag your hallucinating ass to Baizhu in tears when you ate something that would most definitely kill someone who lacked your gift.

By the time the traveler had made their way into Liyue for the Rite of Descension, you had memorized every plant that was and was not safe to consume. It was what first introduced you to the traveler and Paimon, who were in the wilds of Guilin Plains searching for plants and berries to eat. Like a true forest ranger would, you graced them with your knowledge and a friendship blossomed. You joined their adventure not long after, being their guide into the city where the Rite of Descension took its wild turn. Before the turn of events, Liyue felt like a second home to you, with its many characters and personalities. You were good friends with Hu Tao, who caught wind of your strange gift and insisted you visit her at the funeral parlor so she can feed you many “strange and mysterious” plants that you ended up easily naming anyway. From her, you were acquainted to Zhongli, who was more than concerned that you were allowing his boss to eagerly feed you plants that are known to be poisonous, but he quickly became curious and intrigued when you explained that you can consume them without harm because its literally what you do, you eat dangerous stuff to study them and somehow gained immunity. Zhongli couldn’t help his intrusive thought one day when he invited you out to tea at Third Round Knockout, pushing a cup that was previously poured towards you. You made a show of sipping at the tea, immediately picking up the poison it was laced with and in the next second your head slumped against the table, shocking not only Zhongli but the other patrons at the tavern. The older man was by your side in an instant, hand on your shoulder and your name on the tip of his tongue before he saw you shake with laughter. Zhongli went through a flurry of emotions but was relieved when he saw how happy your little prank made you. In the end, you both agreed that there was no malicious intent, and you even gave him a small lesson on the type of poison he tried to use. From Zhongli you met Childe, who you were a little on the fence about since he was associated with the Fatui, so you never went further than an acquaintance relationship with him, even after he tried to subtly get closer to you. You ended up having to threaten him with poisoning *his* food since you were a walking encyclopedia of death, and you knew exactly what can’t be detected by the tastebuds if baked into a delicious pastry that you just so happen to have with you. You walked away oblivious to how much you turned him on with that threat.

Your relationships following the events of the Rite of Passing went all kinds of ways. Your relationship with Hu Tao was the one that suffered the least, the only damage was your lack of appearance since you were with the traveler fighting battles and facing gods. Through the quest you learned that Zhongli was actually the “deceased” Archon of Geo and you may or may not had dipped to gather your thoughts, having been overwhelmed with the revelation. It was a lot to think that Liyue’s archon was dead when in reality he was your friend who played a poison prank on you and listened intently when you were giving him extensive lessons on the various poisons Liyue offered and their symptoms. You were starting to wonder if maybe all the years of eating deadly plants was starting to take an effect on you when Zhongli, the ever so wise, sat beside you. The traveler and Paimon were only starting to notice your absence before you and your former archon friend reappeared with an air of reassurance between you both. Childe’s relationship with you was what suffered the most, you practically cut him out of your life and ignored his existence after the fight at Golden House and him summoning Osial, the scariest ocean monster you’ve ever seen, and had the displeasure of fighting. You still remember breaking his nose at the city gate, furious tears rolling down your cheeks as you screamed at him over his fuckup, not giving him a chance to speak as you described the sheer terror you felt of having to face something that monstrous, thinking that you were going to die without having fulfilled your dream. You never gave him a chance to apologize after you reminded him that he was the one who made you feel all of that, and with a final empty threat, you walked back into the city to join the traveler into the next chapter of their adventure. Your tears were easily brushed off as tears of missing your friends, which was a half-truth anyway as you hugged your two closest friends and bid them a farewell, promising to return and visit.

On the Alcor, the traveler talked to you about their time in the city of freedom. You listened intently as they talked about their battle with Dvalin, the friends they made along the way and how the city really has a different feel than Liyue. You couldn’t help but ask about the flora of the nation, which they sheepishly admit they weren’t paying too much attention to anything that wasn’t a sweet flower or mint. Arriving in Ritou started your next adventure, one that really tested your desire for knowledge as it took a few months before the shackles of Inazuma were released. You knew the nation was closed off, but after being told you can also get a travel’s permit with the traveler to ensure you don’t get kicked out, you knew it was a deal you couldn’t pass up. You forgot to read the fine print that was you’d later have to fight tooth and nail against the nation’s archon to free them from their oppression and only then, can you freely roam to eat your stinkin’ plants. In those months, while your first focus was to help the traveler find a way to meet with the archon, you still managed to sneak in late night sessions of flora eating. You apologized many nights for waking the traveler up with your incessant note taking, furiously writing down your new studies, new entries that you can’t wait to relay to Tighnari. Like the traveler, you became quick friends with Thoma, the handsome housekeeper of the Yashiro Commission. His good looks were so effective you forgot to inform him that you’re here to study poisonous plants, so when he came across you one night hunched like a gremlin and about to shove another plant in your mouth, one he knows is deadly, you felt like you were a guilty dog being scolded.

“[Name]…. what’s in your mouth—NO DON’T CHEW FASTER, SPIT IT OUT RIGHT NOW”, his screaming caused you to choke, only furthering his panic and he nearly broke your ribs while performing the Heimlich on you. That night you became acquainted with the Kamisato siblings, since Thoma manhandled you to them so you can get the best medical care. It was quite embarrassing to explain to a half asleep Ayaka and Ayato that no, you were not currently dying, yes you did eat a deadly plant but if someone can tell Thoma to stop panicking then you can explain why you weren’t actively dying. Ayaka was still a little confused, Thoma’s vibes were rubbing off on her and she wanted to insist that you still get care, but Ayato had an amused smile on his face, why are all the men on this island handsome? By sunrise, you had a clean bill of health and was in the middle of your life story with the trio, hot cups of tea in their hands and mixed expressions on their faces. Thoma looked the most intrigued, asking questions here and there, Ayaka looked horrified, her hand never strayed too far from her chest as she clutched her fake pearls, Ayato’s expression was the one you had the most trouble reading. He seemed intrigued, but it also seemed as if he was studying you himself, pulling some strings in his mind and forming a plan of how to keep you forever, it wouldn’t be bad for the Yashiro Commission to have a personal poison tester after all. Your friendship with the Kamisatos only grew from there, being invited to outings or to be their plus one to festivals, it was easy to fall into a comfortable lifestyle with them. So, when the time came that you and the traveler were asked to help abolish the vision hunt decree, you agreed without hesitation. For you it was a win-win; the nation will be free and thus you can freely travel between the islands to further your deadly plant studies! Your memory becomes hazy after that, as if everything happened all at once, despite it fleshing out over the span of a few months.

You subconsciously thumb over a scar on your lip as you stared blankly at the assortment of innocent looking foods in front of you; healthy servings of onigiri, Sakura tempura and rice cake soup. The birds chirp outside as Thoma sits across from you with an open notebook, pen waiting to note down your results as he stared at you expectantly. Ayato sits beside Thoma, sipping his boba drink loudly as he also stared at you, expression unreadable. The silence began to stretch on for another 3 minutes before you shiver and reach out to begin taking bites out of the assortment of food you were offered. It’s been about two months since the nation was freed, thanks to mostly the traveler. You were tired, worn and ragged from the war you came back from, but it didn’t stop the feeling of peace you felt at your core as you chewed on a rice cake.

“… It’s safe”, you mumbled, sneaking a second bite in before pushing the dish back and picking up an onigiri to chomp on. Thoma scribbled away in the notebook, nodding to himself as Ayato sets his drink down to watch you eat, a smile on his face. He was taking advantage of the free time Inazuma now has by asking you to be his personal food tester, it was a request he knew he couldn’t ask back then since you were busy with the vision hunt decree, but it was still a request he was itching to have you fulfill. He watched the way your face contorts with concentration, the way your eyes dart left to right as you chew, the way your brows knit tighter and relax slightly only to tighten up again and the way you tilt your head while you work magic in your intriguing little brain. There was something about the way you fearlessly try to pick out death from the flavors that has Ayato mesmerized, his smile growing fonder when your eyes light up, he knew that by the second bite you eagerly took from the onigiri that you found what you were looking for. “Oh, definitely poisoned… Where did they find the flora for this I wonder”, you ponder to yourself, missing the look Thoma gave to Ayato before the commissioner began to speak. “Worry not, we know exactly who sent that, so we’ll ask for you”.

By the beginning of the third month of freedom, the traveler was ready to continue their journey, and as it so happened, they were heading to Sumeru next. You smiled sadly at them, as much as you wanted to join them, you weren’t ready to return to your home nation just yet. They nod in understanding, squeezing your hand and telling you to finish what you had to do here and to meet them in Fontaine instead. There was still a lot of flora eating to do in Inazuma, and while you walk the traveler towards the boats that return to Liyue, you can’t help but sniffle out warnings about the various flora they should avoid if they want to reach Gandharva Ville alive and meet with Tighnari. “He’ll fill you in on the rest”, you hug the traveler and Paimon before sending them off, staying at the port until you could no longer see the boat and started your way back to the estate. Staying with the Kamisato siblings was like living in a completely different world; truth be told it was akin to living like royalty, you were still trying to get accustomed to letting the retainers pick up after you when you’ve gotten so used to picking up after yourself. It was under the insistence of Ayato and Ayaka that you began rooming with them, “The least we can do is offer you a much more comfortable abode while you continue your studies here”, Ayaka would beam at you, and you lost the will to fight against both her and her brother, moving the little equipment you kept with you to one of their spare rooms. Thoma loved having you around, you were very knowledgeable and never passed up opportunities to spread your poisonous wisdom during his housekeeping classes, he considered it extracurricular that could potentially help someone someday. Of course, you were as careful as you could be while staying with them, often warning the siblings and the retainers not to eat or drink anything you may have previously consumed because you often test the effectiveness of poisons through food and beverage. The idea of you becoming a personal poison tester for the estate only became more serious when a maid suddenly fell ill after consuming a pastry meant to be gifted to Ayato, and after your confirmation that it was indeed laced, you’re reminded that the sibling duo are often in danger of instances of unknowingly consuming poisoned offerings, so after contemplating heavily on it, you approached them and agreed that perhaps you could extend your stay and help trace back any poisoned goods and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Struck with a craving for something sweet on your way back to the estate you approach the stall that Tomoki was usually standing besides, your instincts on high alert when you saw a person you didn’t recognize standing in his place. It’s not unusual that Tomoki would miss a day or two, but something seemed off about this person, making your hackles rise despite the friendly smile you greeted them with. “Hello! Is Tomoki not in? I’d like some dango milk”, you inquired cheerfully, throwing in a curious head tilt for good measure while you inspected the suspicious figure. “He’s out sick, but he left plenty of milk to go around. Hey, aren’t you that hero that saved the nation?”, the person asks, reaching behind the cart to grab a bottle of milk and you notice its one that wasn’t part of the displayed bottles. You swallow thickly yet your smile didn’t waver as you dropped a few mora in their awaiting hand and take the drink offered. “Oh, I wouldn’t call myself a hero, but I definitely helped the traveler! Now I’m just a humble researcher studying the flora of this nation”, you chuckle, quickly thanking the person with a bow and hurrying off. You felt a cold chill run up your spine from the interaction, something felt seriously off about both the “merchant” and the bottle you were given so you took a detour to Komore Teahouse, pausing before the entrance. “… Hisashi?”, you call out, nearly jumping out of your skin when the man practically appears beside you, kneeling with his head bowed. Ayato had previously spoken to you about the Shuumatsuban, his secret ninja force, they’re fiercely loyal to the head of the clan, so when he informed you that you would be given permission to utilize them if you were in danger, warmth filled your chest.
“Inform our lord of the suspicious vendor attending Tomoki’s stall, something feels off about them”
“Right away, my liege”, and as quick as he appeared, he disappeared while you entered the teahouse and occupied one of the rooms. Retrieving your notebook from your yukata sleeve (you mastered the Kamisato Art of hiding shit in your sleeves), you opened to a fresh page to have on standby in case your intuition was right and you set to work, popping the bottle open and taking a healthy gulp. Sweetness coats your tongue, the texture a little thicker than you remember, your face scrunches when an air bubble pops and a powdery substance sticks to your tongue and throat, making you cough out what was in your mouth. “Whoa, don’t choke on it”, Thoma’s entering the room with a tea tray in hand, quickly setting it down and pouring you a cup. Before drinking the liquid, you scrape off the wet powder from the back of your tongue for further analysis and gratefully drink the tea that the retainer brewed, cleansing your palette. “Hisashi told me everything, Ayato is looking into that suspicious vendor you saw at the stall, and I figured I’d keep you company here just in case”, he beams at you and its like looking at a guardian angel. “Thank you Thoma, you’re such a lifesaver”, you chuckle while licking the finger with the strange substance on it, and all at once it hit you, the bittering numbness that was a surefire sign of poison. It appears to work quickly too, unless the little bit you consumed earlier was just now starting to kick as your hands refuse to pick up your pen, and at both yours and Thoma’s surprise you’re falling stiffly to one side, muscles as rigid as rigor mortis.

For the first time in a long time, Ayato is scared when Thoma bursts through the estate with you in his arms, the way you’re frothing at the mouth and your eyes were rolled back made him think you had finally met your poisonous match. He’s frozen, only able to watch as doctors follow in behind Thoma, thanks to his quick thinking he was able to gather a few to work on saving you. “…lord…. My Lord! Ayato!”, he’s pulled from his panic at the shouts of his retainer, who’s tugging on his sleeve, ushering him out of the room to give the medics more space. For the first time in a long time, he felt powerless at the mercy that was you and your dance with death, there was nothing he could do except pray to the archons that the best doctors Inazuma could offer will help pull you away from the clutches of death you’re currently struggling against. He’s been pacing outside of the door for hours now, waiting and listening in on the commotion that’s on the other side of what separates you to him. Its another half hour before Thoma is called into the room, and Ayato bites his tongue at the annoyance that courses through him, he wanted to see you, why can’t he be by your side? “I understand, I’ll bring them right away”, Ayato hears the voice of the pyro user and seconds later he’s rushing out of the room and beelining to yours, with the head Kamisato hot on his heels. “Thoma, are they alright?”, his voice cracks as he asks, his heart pounding harder in his chest when his retainer doesn’t respond right away, but instead begins to hand some dried herbs to him, a silent plea to hold them while he gathers some more in his arms. “Come on my lord, they’re gunna need these”, he’s out of the room in a few long strides, Ayato catching up to him quick and following him into the room you’re being held. He releases the breath he didn’t even know he was holding when he saw you sitting up against a pile of pillows, looking very weak but very much alive given the gentle smile you’re sending the two men.
“They’re very lucky they have gained such an immunity, its what was staving off the powerful poison in their system”, one of the doctors informs the hydro allogene, yet he barely processed it as he approached you slowly, setting the herbs down and reaching over to cup your face gently.
“If it wasn’t… For Thoma… I’d have –“, you’re shushed before you could finish the sentence, Ayato isn’t sure if his heart could handle you actually saying you could have died. He presses his lips against your forehead, concern once again flowing through him when he feels how clammy your skin is. “Are you alright?”, he asks softly, worried lilac eyes meeting with yours as you lift a trembling hand to cup over his.
“I need to make an antidote, which might take some time… But I should have enough here to keep the poison at bay in the meantime”, you pat his hand reassuringly, and even though Ayato’s anxiety goes through the roof when you’re thrown into a coughing fit, he has the utmost trust in you and your ability to be able to come up with a solution.

It's a tricky process, considering you were basically banned from stepping foot outside of the estate and if you needed a specific kind of plant, Ayato would send Thoma or a Shuumatsuban member for it. The suspicious vendor responsible for actually almost killing you was apprehended by the Tenryou commission for questioning, and to your surprise you learned that they were a spy sent from Snezhnaya to take out the “traveling heroes of Teyvat”. You’re internally grateful that the traveler was no longer in Inazuma to have experienced what you have, you have no doubt they wouldn’t have been as lucky as you. Still, you send a letter to them in Sumeru with the details and a warning to be careful, along with a report of the poison, its symptoms and a “tbd” beside antidote to be sent to Tighnari, you can already hear the forest watcher begin to lecture you about the risk you took in gathering this new knowledge.
“[Name]? The herbs you requested have arrived”, Ayato knocks on the door gently before entering, a bouquet of herbs delicately wrapped in parchment resting against his arm.
“Thank you, lets hope this batch will be successful”, you pull out your notebook from underneath your pillow, flipping to the latest page that’s full of scribbles and crossed out equations that failed. Ayato sits on the edge of the bed, setting the wrapped herbs down and reaching over to grab the mortar and pestle that was on your bedside table and the glass of water that awaits beside it. This had been your routine for the past few days, you’d test out a combination of herbs, wait a day and the doctor on call would check on your condition to determine if it was effective against the poison. Like clockwork, Ayato watches you mumble to yourself and pick off small pieces of herbs to throw into the mortar before using the pestle to grind it into a powder to mix into the water. The taste is horrendous but you chug it down regardless, praying to the archons that it actually works this time.
“How do you feel?”, Ayato asks, scooting closer so he can examine you as if you’d instantly be healed.
“Like I’m full of water”, you snort, closing your notebook and slipping it back under your pillow before looking at the man in front of you. His eye bags have gotten darker, it must be either from work piling up or your current state. “I think it’s gunna work this time, so I can hound you to take better care of yourself”, you frown at him, reaching over to rub a thumb along one of his eyebags and he sighs at the action, eyes closing and head leaning more into your open palm.
“I’ll worry about that when you’re not on the brink of death”, he shoots you a sly smirk, chuckling at your pouting face and pressing a kiss to your palm. Your cheeks flush. “I must confess something to you”, his voice is uncharacteristically shy, his sly smirk wiped away and his cheeks beginning to tint, the air suddenly growing tense and you could feel your heart begin to quicken.
“I must confess… That I love you, [name]. I’m ashamed that it took me witnessing almost losing you to realize my feelings, but they’re real and I’ll no longer deny them. Would you… Do me the honor of being mine?”, his brows are furrowed, you realize that concern is not a good look on him, you prefer to see him with his blinding smile, prefer to listen to the teasing lilt his voice takes when he pokes fun at you. Staying in the Kamisato estate made you realize a few things; you were still trying to get accustomed to letting the retainers pick up after you when you’ve gotten so used to picking up after yourself, Thoma is a literal walking ray of sunshine, Ayaka enjoys Chazuke in private, and you fell in love with Kamisato Ayato.
“Ayato… I was yours the moment I was asked to move in”, the smile that greeted you was ethereal, even in the dim lighting of your bedroom he looked heavenly, cheeks a rosy red that reached the tips of his ears and adoration in his gaze that you mirror in your own. He leans forward, intent on stealing a kiss from you until you press a hand to his lips, a giggle falling from you.
“Wait, I’m poisonous, remember?”, you snicker, Ayato chuckling against your hand before he laces his fingers with yours, opting to press his forehead against yours instead.
“I suppose I can wait a little longer for that then”.

Ayato is pleased when the doctor monitoring your condition confirms that your latest concoction is highly effective in combating the poison and was currently flushing your system, you should be fully recovered by dinner time. You’re shocked, not only did you manage to fight against a rather powerful poison you also threw together an antidote all by yourself, eat your heart out Akademiya researchers. A celebration is thrown for you at the estate following the good news, the evening full of good food, good friends, and good vibes. You’re in the middle of recounting a story of a similar incident that you experienced while in Sumeru, one where Tighnari was the one who threw together an antidote in hopes you didn’t go to the light when Ayato excuses you from the group to pull you outside to the garden illuminated by moonlight.
“What’s this? Did the Yashiro Commissioner miss me that much even though he saw me this morning?”, you tease, laughing when Ayato simply pulls you into his arms like a child clutching their favorite bear. While the celebration was full of mirth, the process of actually throwing the party was time consuming and tiring, so you didn’t get to spend much time with your boyfriend until now, arms wrapped around each other under the full moon.
“Is it a crime to miss my beloved? I feel like I haven’t seen you in far too long”, he’s chuckling against your neck, lips pressing gentle kisses against the skin and moving up along your jaw until he presses a kiss on the corner of your mouth. Your flurry of giggles is like music to his ears, he’d sit through a million boring meetings if that meant he could come home to you and your addicting voice.
“As it so happens, it is. You’ll be charged accordingly I’m afraid – your innocence will cost you one kiss”, you move your arms from his waist to around his neck, one of his hands rests on your hip while the other tilts your head up.
“Oh? Well, for you, I’d be happy to pay”, he whispers against your lips before he takes your breath away with a sweet kiss, literally because he tastes like milk tea.
