so thanks to raven molisee (a previous storyboarder for steven universe) showing her concept art for horror club, we (aka me) can confirm that:

lars was thought to have borderline personality disorder (at least that's something raven particularly liked)

lars was bullied as a kid and he internalized it to the point where he can't take compliments srsly

and he's queer! (not a surprise to me though) and he dealt with internalized homophobia due to his bullies

apparently little ronaldo might have crushed on lars too

gosh that's so much lore and while i'm sad we didn't see more of it in the show, i just love how deep of a character lars is, as well as his friendship with ronaldo. i am being fed lmao.

cliff had came inside from having a smoke, he didnt like smoking weed in front of his girlfriend because she disliked the smell. he was respectful of that, and did it away from her vicinity.

after he came inside, he saw her trying to cut her own hair in front of the bathroom mirror, sobbing quietly. “hey, hey hey..” he ran up to her, taking the scissors by the handles gently and examining her face. “cliff, give me those!” she begged. “absolutely not.. what are you doing to your gorgeous hair?” he scoffed a little. she only teared up more, choking up upon his words. cliff noticed he was harsh with his approach, setting the scissors down and giving her a tight but gentle hug. “baby.. please, whats the matter?” he asks while rubbing her back.

“cliff, listen.. i want to tell you something, please dont take this the wrong way, but i dont think im a girl. i never was. i’ve.. always been a boy? though at the same time, i’ve been in denial my entire life. you know i—“ i’m stopped dead middle of my rant with a soft kiss to my lips. i found my cheek up against his chest, holding me close. “you don’t hafta explain yourself to me darlin.. it’s alright. but you should’ve asked me to do your hair for you.. i’m not bad at it ya know,” he jokes with me. i chucke, giving him a soft kiss in return.

“name change? assuming your current name is too feminine to your liking,” cliff starts cutting my hair into a short wolf-cut like mullet, and christ was he right.. he wasnt bad at all. i sat in awe for a few seconds, forgetting he even asked me a question. “darlin?” he asked again, and i snapped back into reality. “oh— uh, yeah! i like um.. {name of your liking}, what do you think?” cliff nods in amusement, a hardy smile on his face, “love it babe. male terms now? do i geta call you my boyfriend?” he seemed pretty happy at the idea, and so i nod in response.

i felt comfortable for once, and throughout the rest of our relationship he continued to be a supportive, loving boyfriend. all i could ever ask for.
