The RoC Fire Family Tree!

I get a lot of questions about the Fire family tree in RoC so I made a full tree of the family! Hopefully this is easier to understand than the FamilyEcho tree that I have!

A small explanation of a few things in the tree:

when lines are lighter that means the cats had kits together but were never mates (ex: Jake having kits with Nutmeg and Quince); a red X means that the cats were mates but they broke up; and I tried to color code the four main branches of the tree, so Tiny's is blue, Fire's is green, Dustpelt's is purple, and Cloudtail’s is light blue.

Many of my designs for these guys are old or i just haven't designed them yet soooo I used this as a chance to draw a lot of them new face designs! This actually helped me with their designs, it was nice seeing all of a cat's relatives while i designed their faces, helped me keep them looking related but different!

More random chill/fun AU.

I'm not entirely sure what I was gonna do with this, honestly... I was reading a typical isekai manga with nature spirits, and I randomly thought of this. Japanese folklore does have tree spirits too.

Some artistic liberties taken, obviously, so some of the stuff I say here has nothing to do with folklore.

The tree spirits can wander around freely, they're not attached to the physical tree. They just prefer having the tree nearby because if anything happens to it, they lose their human manifestation. They can get it back by finding a new host tree, but it's not that easy to do.

Those with strong enough spiritual power can pull out the tree and move it around freely too.

The more I drew the more I regretted making all those flowers and leaves on their heads. It was a super cool design, but a pain to draw like 10 times over.

Ichiji and Niji are wearing leaf masks, they don't grow leaves on their faces.

Also random flower trivia (nothing to do with the characters, honestly).

Tree/plants assignment for the other characters pending (especially because I don't know what to do with this AU yet). Nami is easy because she's obviously a mikan tree.

You could play with the dirty part of the canon description by having Slash and his people roll in mud to hide their scent.

Parts of the Code labelling using weapons/traps as dishonorable could have started as agreements made that Slash's people wouldn't keep using their old tactics, maybe forced on Thunder's Clan to keep them from becoming too powerful, if they DID fuse.

I'm more liable to just remove the "dirty" thing entirely honestly; I just think it's so shitty I'd like to nuke it from orbit, you get me? Every single time they want you to hate someone, they make them fat and/or stinky. I'd rather just put that kind of rhetoric in the mouths of cats like Clear Sky and The Wind Runner, a lie to demonize their enemies, not really based on truth.

I think I might take the trap stuff though; that actually fits in nicely with how ThunderClan's the only one that uses spears. I won't have it be code yet, though, that's going to come a lot later. First two commandments of the code are Borders + Mercy, followed by Law 3 when Riverstar dies in some decades.

Also gonna need a name for Slash's new group. Hey, maybe THESE guys can be called Warriors, actually. Warriors of the Forest, like what the first arc used to be called before it was renamed TPB.

Dius kept tags on Isabella that evening. Watched her lounge around the kitchen with her mother for a couple of hours before she headed upstairs. Darting around the garden like a shadow. He watched Seamus make supper, and then sit in front of the TV until it was time to go to bed. Completely normal people stuff. And as he stood there, watching Isabella move about her bedroom through the light coming through the rolled down blinds, it hit him how very non normal his own life was. He'd never had any of this. Was this what Mav pictured when he spoke about dreams for a family? Well... It would never happen for Dius anyway. A mate just wasn't for him. He would never dream to be that lucky.

Dius found himself a good perch, halfway up a tree, where the leaves and branches would hide him, but he still had some view into Isabella's room. He brought up his tool, turning off the lights on the thing and texted Mav.

Single Mom AU: Christmas Tree

Yang: (busts through the door with her arms fully laden with holiday decorations) Alright! Let's get to decorating!

-Silence-

Yang: Blake? Kela?

-snickering coming from the newly erected tree in the corner-

Yang: ......If that tree is laughing, I'm never drinking Nora's homemade eggnog again.

Yang: (walks over to the tree and pulls back the branches toward the upper half)

Kela: (lounged on two branches and batting at one of the built-in lights) Hi, Yang!

Yang: (blinks) Hello. How did you get up here?

Kela: What do you mean? I climbed.

Yang: Uh-huh.... silly me for asking. Where's your mom?

Kela: (points towards the bottom of the tree closest to the wall) Down there.

Yang: (blinks again) Right... (releases the branches and pulls back the limbs on the back of the tree)

Blake: (hidden amongst the branches, sitting in a nest of blankets and pillows on the floor and using the string of lights to read her book) Welcome home, dear.

Yang: .....Thanks..... why are you and Kela in the tree?

Blake: It's cozy.

Yang: Uh-huh.... Well, I'm going to go decorate the rest of the house now.

Blake: I'll be out soon to help.

Yang: Uh... thanks. (Closes the branch curtain and proceeds to start decorating the house) That must be what Ilia was warning me about.

“I’m Greykit now, Mom,” said Greykit, when they were nestled back home. Fallowtail stilled. “Greykit, is it?” she asked, her voice frail. “I - I hadn’t known so much time had passed. You’ve both grown so big, but names -” “Can we get new names?” Palekit piped up, muffled by Mom’s fur before she twisted to face them. “I don’t wanna be Palekit anymore.”  “Why not?” Mom gently prodded.  Her lips curled into a tiny snarl - a perfect likeness of Hailstar’s, earlier. “It’s stupid and windy and I’m not a Windclan cat.”

"Greykit and Palekit," Reedfeather declared. "Welcome home, lovelies."

His daughter could not see his expression from between his paws, but she could see those of the strange cats around him. They were wrong - not a single familiar face in the crowd. They all smelled wrong, too, like the wind had stolen their scents, not like the musty comfort of Mom. All strangers.

One face frowned - the huge tom padded forward and sniffed the sisters with a scarred nose. The kittens shied away. 

"I’d keep those ideas to myself, boy. The kits are too young to be named.” The tom rose up to squint at their father. “Especially adapting to so many changes, the stress could do them in.”

The kitten - was she Pale or Grey? - felt her father stiffen behind her. “Riverclan could not keep them from me, Hawkheart - neither will Starclan,” he said. 

“Besides,” he added quickly, “they’re stars-given, for Heatherstar’s lost litter. Surely they wouldn’t take such blessings from such deserving cats?”

Hawkheart curled his lip. “Deserving... certainly.”

He padded away, vanishing into what looked to the kitten like the round, gaping mouth of a dead fish. She recoiled further into her father’s belly fur for something, anything, familiar.

But he wasn’t. She did not know the texture of his fur, or his not-smell, or his nasally voice, or how he licked her ears. She hated having her ears touched - Mom knew that. 

“I want Mom,” she whimpered. “I don’t like it here, I want Mom - please, can we go home?”

RoC Tiger Family Tree!

I finished making my drawn out Tigerclaw family tree for Rise of Change! This tree follows up my Fire Family Tree I made!

A small explanation of a few things in the tree:

when lines are lighter that means the cats had kits together but were never mates (ex: Rosebush and that loner dude); a red X means that the cats were mates but they broke up; and a question mark means that they were mates and still love each other, but stopped meeting probably bec their relationship was half Order. I tried to color code the four main branches of the tree, the Moonflower line is blue, the Pineheart line is dark orange, the Leopard Tiger line is dark blue and the Willow line is green!

The Foundations of the Skykin — the descendants of Cloudstar and Birdflight

I’ll explain these cats later in a different post (still drafting the story), but for now here are the major character changes from canon for context:

1. Birdflight goes to Shadowclan and is invited into the clan by the priest, Molepelt. Dawnstar is the least adamant that Skyclan leave and honestly given Redstar’s attitude and previous battles with Skyclan it makes no sense for Bird and her kits to go to Thunderclan.

2. Gorseclaw and Spottedpelt are now Lichenshade and Orchidblaze and they’re designs have been altered. Lichen is light brown rather than dark and Orchid is a dilute calico. I didn’t like how Gorse and Spotted were supposed to be the spitting images of Tigerclaw and Spottedleaf. The larger time gap in this au doesn’t make that make any sense either. So, they are their own cats now.

Some other fun facts:

1. Birdflight was a Skyclan Protector and was a renowed warrior within her clan, known particularly for her skill in ambushing and stalking opponents. She had a kind face but nasty claws.

2. Every cat in this tree (with one exception) is a protector. The warrior’s honor is strong in this family and they place a lot of value in combat skill. Sedgecloud is the only cat who is not a protector, and she instead is a Shadowclan priest.

Eventually I’ll put together a full family tree from Cloudstar down to the present, but it’ll be awhile before that
