Radovid Joins the Hansa
At the Radskier discord we are Goncharov-ing what Radovid-joins-the-hansa (aka: Hansovid) AU would be like and here's some of the ideas shared so far:
the exact details on HOW this happens are not set in stone (Did Radovid escape before Vizimir got offed, leaving Pip and Siggi without a convenient spare? After? More importantly, does he have the annuity??), but some headcanons are:
Art major nerd perk, Radovid knows a lot about slightly more practical things, like art, history and architecture and sometimes weird law facts that he personally found interesting
barding- under Jaskier's tutelage, Radovid's playing has improved dramatically, which is great because unlike jaskier who is kind of recognizable, Radovid can more easily go into towns as a perfectly average, unremarkable bard, making getting items/information while keeping anonymity (they usually pair him up w Regis for safety reasons)
Very good at looking dumb and pretty and quite pathetic which makes people underestimate him more
Courtly training so he's polite and educated… and good at remembering faces and names.
THE ONE NORMAL PERSON IN THIS GROUP. Radovid often ends up being the most sensible/practical person in a situation simply by process of elimination. Radovid will read a potion saying 'drink me' and...not do it. He'll see spoopy shit and walk the fuck out. He's the guy who asks who's on the other side before opening to sus knocking.
he's very bad at athletic stuff and takes awhile to build stamina, but at least this time everyone's got horses and boots so it balances out
Radovid is not good at self defense BUT does have some concept of swordsmanship/archery… from like like 20 years ago. He is, however, decided not to be a burden and not to get left behind. He's especially invested in protecting Jaskier- who Radovid is horrified to find- is even more useless than he himself is (bitch you live like this??).; Because Radovid has common sense and self preservation instincts, things jaskier is mostly lacking).
he eventually starts getting lessons from Cahir and Milva when time permits, and healing stuff from Regis. He's got excellent memory and attention to detail, but remains average at swordsmanship/archery.
he is, however, fairly good with a crossbow (no the wrist ones from TW3, the bigger ones ).
he also gets a cute ponytail/braid and smiles more! (original art by naumaxia-art)
Tumblr media
Still too weaksauce for the path?
Tumblr media
we've named him 'Faro', after a type of Cintran beer
Tumblr media
He's a Polish Tatra Sheepdog and was acquired by the group when Geralt was handling a monster infestation. Unfortunately neither the puppo's owners, nor his sheep were spared, but puppo not only survived, but saved Jask and Radovid and became extremely protective of them.
Tumblr media
I imagine the acquisition goes something like:
Geralt: absolutely not. Radovid: I'm calling for a vote! Milva: You. You're calling for a vote? Radovid: why not? is this not a democracy? Radovid: I'm of course voting to keep him. Jaskier: I second the vote to keep the very handsome boy! Angoulême: come on Geralt, we'd never have found where the Barghest were coming from without him, AND he saved your bard from walking straight into it. Jaskier: yes Geralt, he saved your bard! Geralt: fine, then I vote no. Milva: I'm not taking care of any more mutts than I have to Radovid: he's clearly purebred! Cahir: still no. Geralt: see? We are done here Angoulême: *the little shit* nunca hasn't voted yet. Geralt: *sigh* Regis, can you please tell them so we can leave? Regis: Geralt: Regis. Geralt: Regis, no Regis: *trying not to smile like he's entirely charmed* … well, he is a very handsome boy.
In the end Regis suggest they at least try to get him to civilization so he can be adopted by a good family, but in the week it takes to get to it, Faro proves himself the MVP, not only will it defend the weakest party members, but it's a vert smart dog who will deter wolves/and will bodily shepherd jaskier away from dangerous areas/items as needed.
the one and only drawback is that Jaskier and Radovid can no longer have obnoxiously loud sex since Faro gets stressed thinking they're getting hurt and will try to intervene, effectively cockblocking them.
Finally Geralt gets some (relative) #blessedsilence
Geralt: *hugging the dog* I'm so sorry i ever doubted you
feel free to add to this!

really cool asks i received from @electricbluenb literal months ago, but never got around to publishing :P! but i still want to post this because this is quite interesting:
electricbluenb asked:
Hi! I'm here to report on a lecture I've listened to about Witcher!!!!
Exposition: the lecturer (she) is a philologist, specifically a researcher of fantasy as a transmedia phenomenon; the lecture is titled: 'Witcher Universe. Books, games, series', and from the short description in the announcements I imagined I wouldn't hear much new, or positive takes about TWN (derogatory), and I was interested to listen to it. It was only 90 minutes, so obviously it wasn't super deep in material.
The lecturer did show up in a t-shirt with a print of TW3 Geralt holding a kitten on it, and a games-style Wolf School medallion. For context this is a free library event in Moscow, held in Russian. I am writing this on the same night, so please excuse possible mistakes and I'll try to elaborate if needed.
Overall, I have to say that I haven't heard much that I can't find on your blog. That is only to say that the woman knows her stuff, and that she'd probably be delighted to hear about yours.
Summary of points:
Transmedia (media in different mediums which seeks to build upon each other, unlike adaptation, which only reframes source in a different medium, by her definition) often begins, like fanfiction, in places where source material is incomplete (like how many lotr fanfics focus on Silmarillion). It is crucial for both adaptations and transmedia to be made with love for source material, which TWN showrunners clearly lack.
Historical context and its empirical feel ("liquidity" of reality in the presence of great political and social change, end-of-the-world forefeeling) of the time when Sapkowski created earlier novellas is crucial to interpreting and adapting them. That feel of the setting, and also self-irony and subvertiveness of the text are what both The Hexer and TWN do not translate to the viewer.
Regarding games, she mostly calls them transmedia (not adaptation). She argues that writers of the games recreated that "liquid", end-of-the-world timespace better (not necessarily accurate to lore) than The Hexer or TWN, and more importantly excelled at culture-coding the setting as polish, making it attractive to other slav people as well.
She said with her whole chest that TWN production, and Lauren Hissrich specifically, is just not putting any fucking effort into looking at source material, slapping diversity on what they don't understand to already have themes of otherness and conflict (The Greater Evil is the only example I have in my written notes for books, but she also pointed at games' presenting Geralt as non-human and how it is involved in quests).
In that same vein, she said there's just no romantic relationship between Geralt and Yennefer in TWN, which in books is relying on Eros and Thanatos, and weirdly that drive, finding no exit, is instead can be seen when comparing Renfri fight and stryga fight (she put up screenshots side by side), Geralt only loving the monstrous, and intimacy being deadly (in stryga fight the 'disenchanting kiss' bite). In the games she pointed at the cinematic trailer for Blood and Wine (fight with Orianna / Lullaby of Woe), and went over how it's basically also Eros/Thanatos imagery.
Continuing on Yennefer, she said that it is just laughable to call the character TWN portrays 'Yennefer', because 'inner logic of the character says otherwise', because there's no Yen & Ciri mother-daughter relationship, and the character seems to be 'more like Ciri's either older or younger sister who is afraid of her'.
She touched upon game / series / books interconnectivity (two swords on Geralt's back in Season of Storms versus one in pentalogy, TWN changing Nilfgaardian armour for s3, CDPR adding TWN's Nilfgaardian armor as an option on iirc ps5 edition) and just that it's interesting to her as a researcher that there exist points of clear medium interactions that are expressions of interest and love for the creation, even if the creation is flawed.
She argued that an english translation (the one that she read, obviously there might be different ones) has less visible irony across both text and subtext, in part, possibly, due to censure. I kinda doubt her expertise on english lit as she does seem more focused on Russian lit and translations to Russian, but basically she argues it might be another ground where TWN is just out of depth.
In the Q&A portion I mentioned Redanian Intelligence's article about 'western audiences' and she completely agreed it is just an excuse for what is a skill issue on showrunner's part.
That's all for my report. Hope it leaves you feeling affirmed, knowing that somewhere there are scholars who agree, almost to the letter, completely. :)
electricbluenb asked:
Oops, missed some notes.
As a true researcher, she held a poll on books vs. TWN.
Of about ~25 people in the audience:
22 read the books, 22 liked the books
24 watched S1, 0 loved S1 (aside feelings for actors), 2 people were meh on S1
20 watched S2, again 0 for loving S2
7 watched S3, another 7 considered watching S3, and again 0 for loving S3.
She was prepared to talk more about Ciri, Falka, and Regis, but time was very short.
---
i was really elated to hear about this, the term transmedia is fascinating and i feel like this applies to the witcher phenomenon really well. the term "adaptation" doesn't suit the games, which take the books as a starting point. the topic of interconnectivity between the various mediums is also great, certainly true as every witcher media begins to reflect one another as they're created. one topic i'm interested here is where did geralt's facial scar originally come from, as there is some art of it which predates the creation of the games.
"the setting, and also self-irony and subvertiveness of the text" is definitely what i find missing in netflix as well. i believe the continent, at least in the pentalogy, is way more fleshed out than people think, and the setting really really begins to define the story during the saga, so much so that it becomes as important as the characters themselves. the irony and subversion the text uses are truly hallmarks of the witcher, as well as intertextuality with other fantasy works.
to this list, i would also add comedy :D though twn tries to be funny sometimes it seems to be in an entirely different context and different angle. i was thinking yesterday about how some of the comic characters present in the short stories: dandelion, torque, tellico, freixenet, really had their comedic presence entirely changed or removed from netflix's version. and i thought about the barbegazi and knocker from tower of the swallow, these guys are so funny and endearing, if strange and odd. i think something that netflix does which really, really clashes with the books, is that they treat every monster like a serious threat or at the very least dull them down. in the books, i'd wager that at least half of the 'monsters' present are actually used for comedic effect as well as dramatic effect. now, it's not separate, plenty of characters are both. but netflix seems to only focus on monsters as dangerous, whereas in the books they can actually be quite funny. i think this use of comedy presents a world that is "comfortable" being a fantasy world, that has really incorporated its fantasy elements in a realistic way, so that it's not just there for drama, but has integrated itself into every part of life.
i adore the comparison of geralt and yennefer's relationship with that of the fight with adda, vereena, or renfri. this is something i've been thinking about for a while. exactly, yennefer in the last wish is the antagonist of the story - a powerful, magical woman, literally, a witch. in this sense, yennefer is not unlike the other dangerous opponents geralt faces. in many myths and stories, the hero faces, challenges, defeats an evil witch, sorceress, female user of magic who aims to seduce, deceive the hero. this is the trope we're working with.
the kicker is that yennefer's character gets developed past this, as she begins to be intimately explored - even beyond geralt's lens - and within their context, we see their relationship transform from antagonistic to romantic to fates intertwined. but their chemistry and energy begins with that inherent match in energy, their yin and yang, light and dark, witch and witcher. that (literally) electric sense, that yennefer is never going to be 'defeated' by geralt, that she remains independent even while by his (and ciri's) side.
overall i really enjoyed this report, and respect this lecturer a lot! again, sorry i took so long to publish this as it's been a strange past few months, but better late than never :')

i am SO sorry i saw this so late lmao but @violaceum-vitellina-viridis tagged me in a self promo tag game! (which they stole from @inexplicifics apparently xD)
to encourage some self promo, how about sharing your top fics no matter how big or small - give us the links to your wonderful words with the Most hits/Most kudos/Most comments/Most bookmarks /Most words/Least words
I already know which fic is gonna come out on top regardless of category xD which means i will just leave out the top fic in the following categories so i dont slap in the link for my big fic 5 times in a row lmao
MOST HITS: very unsurprising but also still surprising because I never thought it would get that big but it's my fic from every height I’d fall I’d call a DC|Batfam fic with fucked up time wibbly wobbly reincarnation and slow build
MOST KUDOS: VERY surprising because i basically never check my stats page and didnt notice this fic sneak itself that high (except yknow. every height) but its bathroom break or a statistically unlikely number of kids stacked into a bathroom which is my DC|Batkids comedy crack fic and a take on the Wayne GalaTM trope
MOST COMMENTS: ... huh well I do get a decent amount of comments tbh but this one did surprise me a lot. it's (after every height) i’ll scream, but you won’t hear - ‘forget me not’  which is the third part in a series featuring an amnesiac Witcher AU - as in yes most of the characters forgot Jaskier the Bard has ever existed. it is VERY angst and mind the tags but i have since abandoned the series, though the first part can be read without reading the series if you dont mind a sad ending
MOST BOOKMARKS: in first... AFTER every height and bathroom break are at the moment two fics tied at 149 bookmarks the first one is in wonderment, at you and yours which is a Witcher fic with Geralt/Jaskier, 6k words of smut and strength kink the second is dragonology a DC|Batfam fic where Tim after getting injured and his body going "nope ive had enough" finds out that he's actually a dragon shifter
MOST WORDS: i don't think i can actually get around explicitly mentioning every height here since it is my longest fic and getting longer with atm 60k, second in line is we'll all be the weak and the weary sometime a rare pair Witcher fic with Regis/Roche - yes the vampire Regis and yes Vernon Roche of the Blue Stripes from TW2 and TW3, it's got 17k and is a short developing relationship fic and with the best meet ugly ive written so far
LEAST WORDS: .................................. do I. do I have to. really? ughhhhhh okay I'll link it if ONLY for baby Cas who was very proud of it - anyway comfort a Yuri on Ice fluff Yuuri/Viktor piece that I wrote when I was like. what? 16? pls keep that in mind if you do read it but my advice is. don't xDDD
tagging: @brothebro @childoffantasy @1flyingcat @ironhoshi @itsfirecat @howdidthisevenhappenanyway @bard-llama and anyone else who wants to spread some self promo around!

Welcome to my silly little Witcher sideblog! I'm Sol or Moth, you can use whichever name you prefer! I am on AO3 under the same username!
In terms of canon source material, I am pretty partial to the games, but anything goes here! I own the novels, dark horse comics, and TW3. I have watched The Hexer, The Witcher (Netflix), and a moderate amount of the playthroughs for TW1 + TW2 as well.
I enjoy the universe, characters, and world-building more than any particular/single piece of media, and therefore take inspiration/aspects from any/all source material when I am writing.
By and large, I don't do fandom discourse. I'm here to hangout and converse, not argue or debate.
Any ask game/prompt list that you come across on my page, no matter how old, is fair game. Go ham, just specify which post you're referring to when sending something in! Or send your own! <3
My tagging system is kind of crap, but I do my best. Here is what will be most consistent: (under the cut)
Typically, I will tag posts and reblogs with specific source material tags for easy filtering, followed by a pairing tag, and then character tags where applicable
My Modern AU fic series that I am working on should largely be under "#hypothermic ao3" and a lot of my Modern AU headcanons can be found in this masterpost
Ask replies of any kind will generally be tagged with "#☀️"
All ask games and ask game replies will be tagged with "#ask game" but specific games/posts should have their own applicable tag that follows for easier filtering
"#sol rambles" is me talking/casual posts, whereas "#sol scribbles" is what I will use to tag my writing, or any links to my writing elsewhere

23, 21 and 3!
23. Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out?
Another really difficult one. I don't know, I struggle with so much. Everything I write takes forever to be edited because I tinker with everything. I guess recently I had a hard time with Elijah's first appearance in Pendulum. This is an example of (MANY) paragraphs that were re-written to exhaustion:
Klaus never felt threatened, that fight-or-flight instinct that grasped him so often, for so many reasons, never kicked in. Despite the infinite darkness in his eyes, there was something warm about the man. Elijah had the air of a care-taker, a protector, though one shrouded in mystery. He and Klaus would grow to be good friends, the closest thing to family Klaus had ever truly had, at least since abandoning whatever sentimental attachments he once held for his parents. But even then, Elijah would never cease to be a conundrum. He was always one step ahead, this endless well of wisdom who could somehow see the whole of existence in ways Klaus could never wrap his mind around, no matter how many lifetimes he lived. He would always be grounded in the here and now, while Elijah was… Everything, everywhere, all the time.
Whether or not the effort was worth it is debatable, I guess. 😂
21. Share your favorite piece of dialogue
I've already replied to this one, so I tried to think of a different scene. This might sound strange, but I really like the chapter in TW3 where Cami leaves (3x18, I think). It's a big shift compared to what happened on the show and I enjoyed writing it so much. Every scene Cami has with one of the characters has become a personal favorite of mine (Elijah, Klaus and Caroline), as well as some of the other ones (like Klaus and Caroline towards the end, where Caroline reflects on their relationship in light of Cami's departure). I feel like so much about that chapter was just pondering over where the story started and where they are now.
But Klaus and Cami's scene is definitely my favorite. I know, ironic lol But writing this story made me realize there was a world where I could've enjoyed Klaus and Cami, even romantically (at some point) if they'd been done right, rather than shoved together through awful writing and nonsensical events for the sake of pushing something that was so obviously not happening on screen (the chemistry!). They could've been cute together! And in a friendly situation, they really were. Klaus here does way more for Cami than he ever did on the show, and I loved writing the point where the two of them are finally like 'I think I'll miss you'.
Besides, if there's one thing I love writing is Klaus and Caroline's relationship through other characters' eyes lol It's my favorite thing. And this had Cami using the powers of her psychobabble (so annoying on the show) for good! Her analysis of Klaus here is spot on.
So anyway, under read more.
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?
That I can't shut up for the love of me. I don't know how to write short stories. I don't know how to keep a concise chapter. Somewhere along the way, I lost my capacity for 2k words chapters or fics and I don't know where it went. That's actually something that I have tried very hard to fix, but even when I manage to make progress, two months later I'm back in my bullshit. I personally love shorter stories, stories that manage to pack loads of information, and characterization and even world building into incredibly short and well-crafted sentences, and I can't even give you a short reply to this ask. I'm just a malfunctioning fic writer, man.
Thanks for your ask! ☺️
Klaus doesn't know what to say. An apology at this stage would serve her nothing. It's too late to regret anything, for both of them. And offering solace or moral support is not exactly his style. Which begs the question, "Why are you telling me all this?"
"Honestly? I don't even know. The idea had been swirling around in my head, but it wasn't fully formed until I put it out there. I had to tell someone so it would feel real. And it's easier to confess to you than... Well." She shrugs apologetically, takes another sip off her drink. "Remember when we first met? You were so damaged... Manipulative. Angry. People were just things that you used to get what you wanted."
"Such harsh appraisal," he scoffs. "Though, I admit, accurate. What makes you think I've changed?"
"I don't. But for a really long time, I thought you were just an asshole with too much power."
"Shower me with more impeccable compliments, why don't you? Whatever makes you happy."
Cami grins and plows on. "I don't think you've changed, necessarily, but... I came to realize that there was more to you than that."
"And what changed your mind?"
"Caroline," she replies without missing a beat. Klaus laughs. "I understood a lot about you when I met her. More importantly, I realized that if you could love her the way you do, it meant there was some humanity in you, after all. Even if it's your own twisted brand, it's there. Whatever you were to everyone else, you weren't to her, or to your daughter. You're good to them, Klaus. You go out of your way to protect them, make them happy. I've seen you show kindness, mercy, consideration - even to me. All because of her. Caroline makes you a better person. If nothing else, then out of some selfish desire to stay in her good graces. Maybe it's just transitory. By your standards, this is all very new. It could just run its course, and in ten years' time, you'll be back to being a heartless jerk."
“Your faith is touching."
"But I don't think that's what it is. I think she has inspired real goodness in you. The selfless kind. And I think it will stick because it makes you happy, too. At the end of the day, that's what we all aspire to. Even evil overlords. I realize you have demons that you might never be able to tame, but... You should always just do the best you can."
Klaus' lips curve into an honest smile. "Is that your professional assessment?"
"Hell, no. None of this comes from science. I'm just being mellow and nostalgic."
"Well... Barbed remarks aside... I would be genuinely flattered, if it didn't sound an awful lot like a goodbye."
“After everything... Being your therapist, your stenographer, even your roommate for a little while... It just felt right to say something before I leave. It feels like…” She stops, considering. “Closure. You were my door into this world, after all.”
"Whatever questionable intentions I may have had at the beginning, I really did enjoy our conversations, Camille. I will miss them. I do hope, wherever you land, you find more poor sods with impossible complexes to help you pass the time."
She laughs, refilling their glasses and clinking them together. "I don't think there's anyone out there who will ever come close to a Mikaelson, but I'll toast to that."

1, 13, 22, and 23 for the choose violence asks :-)
the character everyone gets wrong
Avallac'h. (You asked me.) Ciri. Not your Innocence, not your saviour, not your lesbian icon. Very likely to make you her collateral damage. Eredin. (Semi-blank slate syndrome.)
13. worst blorboficiation
Triss (TW3) & Jaskier (TWN). Honestly, I don't know. I think most romantic fan-content is inherently susceptible to do this, no matter what. But with Triss & Dandelion it's just painful.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
The Witcher is Sapkowski's Wicca fan-letter (& a pagan Arthurian one).
23. ship you’ve unwillingly come around to
I don't think I've unwillingly come around to any ship. I don't have that many ships I would feel strongly about in TW to begin with, and I can begin to find most things interesting. As I am called upon to choose violence, though…
I used to dislike Ciri/Eredin circa 6-7 years ago. In retrospect, it had less to do with the ship & more to do with the fanon around it. The (post-TW3) fanon in question: a feisty maiden who'll eventually give into how good the D is and wish to bear the child of the desirous rapist maniac, who is nevertheless honest & upright about being a rapist maniac & is therefore a solid groom.
I guess some of it has to do with the way shipping tends to inherently tilt the narrative and characterisations. With the added conundrum that Eredin's feather-thin characterisation is mostly a composite-fantasy of Ciri's, serving that very purpose. Two classic tilts at which I eyeroll: 1) the nominal monster's miraculous transformation into a paragon of virtue & 2) the heroine's self-effacing, full co-optation into a true love narrative - after rape, black eyes, bullying, insults, etc. (Both frequent with this pair; a "not a bad guy after all" take and a "Mr Psychopath" one.) There is more wiggle-room in writing (2) - hope and self-delusion are powerful things & Ciri is vulnerable to both - but unhealthy relationships are tough to write believably regardless, and even more so when dealing with illusions of health. The more common outcome is the reduction of the heroine to a vessel of the audience's attraction toward the monster, or, even more frequently, the nominal monster's whitewashing, uwufication, and softening up into boyfriend-looking material. Speaking of: Ciri. Ciri won't be material, she's convinced of it ever since the age of 10; ship-fics kind of are the ultimate sewing factory, there's no escaping it (just hope for proficiency).
On a more object-level: military machismo leaves me dead cold, and Eredin's game characterisation - which generated the above fanons in conjunction with "rough caresses" & myrtle flower - does not fly with me. The pilfering of Avallac'h's and Auberon's traits & plot significances to thicken Eredin's meagre book-characterisation flies with me even less. Eredin frequently got built up as a reaction to Avallac'h in fanon and never really obtained "his own thing" (unless it be solely the animal magnetism of a darkly strongman in the eyes of a teenager). I also happened one too many times into the circus of Eredin & Ciri/Eredin fans going on a crusade against Avallac'h or Ciri/Avallac'h by attempting to build up a moral high ground for E over A in the Aen Elle quicksand. (Reee! Ship wars! Discourse! Somehow the opposite almost never occurred, tho.) No comment, or it'll be all comments (dm me, I guess, lol). Consequently, it almost seemed like a huge amount of energy in the writing of these two was spent on signalling why Eredin is "a real man" and the best dick around among his fellow war criminals instead of giving him an independently interesting position in the lore, in relation to his fellow elves, and in relation to Ciri. Not to mention, a discernible arc & internal conflict. Does that matter in smut? I guess not. Does it matter to me (also in smut)? Yes.
Basically, I used to find Ciri/Eredin forced everywhere but in Ciri's desirous dream sequences or in a dark-fic's ravishing plotlines (& even there I didn't find the "I must have you & you will like it" Eredin very compelling given his indifference in the book). However, I have come around to this pairing over the years because I have met some cool people with fun and unconventional takes on the elf, and I think there are a few thematically rich veins to be mined with him in relation to Ciri. So throwing games & game fanon out of the window definitely helped & is allowing me to work out Eredin's "own thing" in a way that excites me; alas what excites me in shipping and in unhealthy ships is not romantic wish fulfilment. Off with Holofernes' head, non-muff! Off. But before you do it let me investigate him; romantic lens is like an amplifier of all other interesting things that are going on inside characters - and that's what shipping is about to me in large part; uncovering those things.

14 questions 14 people
tagged by @noetikat, thanks, Kate! <3
Nickname: Cee, Chris, Mama Hawk - i'm only ever called by my full name at a doctor's office pretty much
Sign: Capricorn (no surprise here)
Height: 5'7"
Last thing I googled: 'what us riposte' - because I have fat fingers and Vesemir was shouting 'riposte' it at me while I replayed the tw3 tutorial.
Song stuck in my head: Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan
Amount of Sleep: The best I've had in weeks, 9 pm - 6 am (only up once around 1 am)
Dream Job: Owner/Director of a therapeutic farm (so I would bring in the actual therapists. This way I could facilitate anything from OT to hippotherapy.)
Wearing: Athletic shorts and a t-shirt.
Movies/Books that Summarize You: This was the question I was dreading, because does this mean summarize my likes or summarize me as a person ...? I'm a big non-fiction book reader, my shelves are lined with topics such as: identifying birds/animals/plants/etc for all the different locations i've lived, childhood development/education, travel, business (mostly female authors, 'Lean In' style), and more. Entering into fantasy style books like The Witcher series has been a rare self-indulgence completing my bachelor's last year has allowed, so I'm still building that. I guess this all summarizes me as a person as well as my likes? (I read much more than I watch!)
Favorite Song: Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. Favorite for as long as I can remember!
Instrument: Vocals, but I'd like to learn how to play the piana/guitar/violin at some point!
Aesthetic: I just read through this bitch of a list to determine - I may just have no real aesthetic. PNW Soccer Mom is probably the closest I can think of ...
Favorite Author: Nope. XD (It was S. E. Hinton as a kid though!)
Random Fun Fact: I used to run a 6-minute mile!

been feeling terribleee all day but now I'm gonna distract myself for a while with the medieval sims save (from divanthesimmer) that I've already grown tired of after a week 😐😐😐
it's a fantasy 'historical' save which isn't what I want, personally, so I have to delete a lot of the supernatural themed sims. i turned san sequioa into colonial new england with builds from @/antiquatedplumbobs.
i've hoarded a lot of TW3 (witcher) conversions and various TSM conversions that I can finally use, at least.

the garment dating is baroque/rococo to regency era times but the peasants are wearing medieval-era outfits mostly.

I gotta say i really appreciate the way tw3 starts you off in the shittiest area of the world, velen, a desolate war torn countryside with very few inhabitants, then introduces you to the other cities later on. Like the moment I got to oxenfurt I realized how much I miss civilization being surrounded by crowded buildings and people!!! The world outside truly feels desolate and haunted in a away no other open world game has ever made me feel. Ending in Toussaint living out my days owning a vineyard was incredibly rewarding knowing all the shit Geralt had 2 go through to get there. Tw3 is truly a masterpiece (not just w level design but with the storytelling as well- very few game comes close to being that good in the writing department) it’s on sale on steam rn for 11 dollars it’s so worth it!

character opinion: Foltest and Adda
Foltest:
Tumblr media
wasted potential: regarding tw1 and tw2. he deserved better.
deeper than he seems: yeah, in my eyes at least, he is quite a complicated character. familial attraction is, unfortunately, a thing. it must have been terribly difficult to struggle with it, knowing that his love for his sister (which was requited and consensual btw) was so forbidden and scandalous. (just to be clear, i do not condone or excuse incest, it's gross.)
didn't get enough screen time: tw2 again. they build him up for like half an hour only to make his death hit harder.
why do they look like that: i don't think his design in tw2 is good. i missed the red hair. :c
they work better as a part of a dynamic: yep, exactly. i love his dynamic with both adda his sister and adda his daughter. i love how fiercely he protected adda even though she was a striga. he's a deeply caring man, clealry.
Adda: (and I assumed you meant Adda the White, not Adda of Temeria)
Tumblr media
cool looking: love adda's design in gwent especially, but in witcher 2 as well
everyone is wrong about them: i hate that cdpr and most of the fandom make her out to be either a bloodthirsty monster or a 100% perfectly fine, healthy and loving uwu wife of radovid. she is deeply troubled. she spent the first 7 years of her life as a monster, her development was slowed down, a lot of it was code for neurodivergence and the games and the fandom forget about that.
wasted potential: look above!! this all over again. a brief mention in tw2 and no mention in tw3. she could have been a wonderful neurodivergence representation, but naaah.
not enough screen time: look above.
