If I have to take a guess, I think Yor’s drinking Long Island Iced Tea here. (It’s obviously not the Red Queen here.)

It does seem like a collins glass here. And that’s also how Yor gets this drunk in a short period of time. Long Island Iced Tea is made with “equal parts of vodka, gin, tequila, rum and triple sec, plus lime, cola and plenty of ice” - four different kinds of strong spirit with an orange liqueur. The colours seems right too.

Anyway, Endo doesn’t drink, so who knows.

it's easy for steve to go overboard on holidays, but especially valentine's day. he likes lugging out the totes from the attic full of garland and wreaths and table runners and knick knacks just to get into the spirit of whatever holiday might be around the corner. he likes when the house feel warm and nostalgic, soft and lived in like a cozy hallmark card. and normally, eddie will help with a few grumbles under his breath, but he does help nonetheless.

but eddie's been on a small tour with his first band after the inevitable "we're not in high school anymore" corroded coffin split, and steve is tired. his third graders are driving him up a fucking wall, the excitement for spring break around the corner and being stuck inside from weeks of dreary winter days winding them up to being goblins. he comes home to an empty house that he can't be bothered to decorate in cheery pinks and reds, pours himself a vodka soda, and sits with a tv dinner to grade papers with cheers reruns playing in the background.

the day of valentine's is the worst. steve pulls into the driveway and tugs at the frosting in the ends of his hair where jenny decided to give him a hug during their classroom party with a cupcake in each hand. he wants to shower, he wants to hug his husband and maybe more than just hug, he wants to come in to a homecooked meal and a clean kitchen and fresh sheets on the bed since he hasn't had the energy to do any of that for weeks on end.

it's strange, steve thinks as he stops in the driveway, that there's a light on in the kitchen. he can see it through the front window and he remembers turning it off this morning, making worry tug harshly in his stomach. he turns the front door open slowly, pausing when he hears phil collins spilling out of the living room sound system. there's a clanging somewhere that sets steve's nerves on edge.

"steve?" he hears a voice call out and it almost brings him to his knees but he has to see it for himself.

he runs to the kitchen and sees his husband, pretty pink apron tied around his waist, vase full of flowers and something delicious smelling in a pot on the stove.

"hey baby," eddie says with his gently sweet smile that makes his eyes crinkle and steve bursts into tears.

everything is decorated the way steve likes it, the stupid valentines table cloth covering the kitchen island, little cupids sitting on the countertops, garland and fairy lights intertwined in the doorway. and eddie, he's there.

eddie leaps into action, catches steve under the arms in one part embrace, one part holding him so he doesn't fall to the floor. he swipes a soft hand over the tears on his cheeks, quietly shushing his sobs as he goes. the hand on his back rubs a slow circle into his spine before burying in the hair at the base of steve's skull.

"you're home?" steve asks, sniffling and snotty and probably not cute at all.

"yeah, got home just in time for your day," eddie responds in his low timbre, pressing a barely there kiss to the corner of steve's slack mouth.

"and you're playing phil collins? you hate phil collins."

"of course i am, he's your favorite." eddie says it like it's simple to say, like it's obvious, like he hasn't taken the time to learn steve inside and out and know what he needs in a way no one has ever or will ever be able to. "i'm making that pasta you like but it won't be nearly as good as when you make it and-"

steve cuts him off with a kiss of his own. it's valentine's day and he's exhausted and he has dried frosting in his hair. he has nearly permanent worry lines in his forehead and hasn't had a shower in two days but he has his husband holding him close. he has the love and warmth and comfort that he'd been needing back in his home. in his heart.

"you didn’t have to go to all this effort just for me."

eddie sighs, and his shoulders sag and he looks so right, so perfect with the fairy lights, or maybe it's love, twinkling in his eyes. "that’s why i did it. for you"

To be honest I think if you just order something classy like a tom collins or gin tonic instead of like a frat boy drink you just look like severe enough of an alcoholic that it comes off as like haww my bitch ex wife masculine, like to me shit like vodka shots and fireball is a pussy ass drink even though people hype it up because it's like... a teenager drink. Like jesus christ shots of fireball... like a cinnamon jelly bean has a higher alcohol content than that and honestly less sugar. Personally I'm not a mixed drink person, sipping on straight liquor is always a pretty ballsy move and people are like woww he can drink without making a face, i like whiskey over rocks or tbh I am a big scotch guy so I like drinking that just straight with no ice. If you want to look masculine drinking a beer is ok but like... don't drink beer at a bar just buy a pack. you'll go broke. Charlie: Bud light, vodka and sprite. He doesn't really know any cocktails besides a Tom Collins cause that's what he orders on dates. When he orders a martini he does it like James Bond.

The silence between you two hangs heavily as the gears turn in Gi’s head. You know the rhythm of her thoughts, you could set your watch by it. You watch her wrestle with every possibility but the truth, the cynicism your death planted in her now grown to a bramble inside her. Your mouths open at the same time.

“You need a drink,” you say.

“I need a drink,” she says.

You still know the way to the Speakeasy from Gihyun's office like the back of your hand. No room for memory loss when that's all you are. The trip is quick in minutes, but an eternity in awkward silences. It's a refreshing sight to see Tiamat still tending bar like only a few nights had passed, rather than nearly a century. She makes your usual double order as quickly as ever, two fingers of scotch and a vodka Collins, hold the vodka.

After Gihyun has a few minutes to settle, to let her guard down a little bit, you decide to break the silence. It has to be you, right? You're the one who crashed back into her life with a mission, you're the one who has to justify your existence. You start small, you think.

“I know it's a lot to take in, but before you run me out of town for being a zombie, let me tell you one thing,” you bring a silk gloved hand to her cheek and make her look you in the eyes, Juliya’s eyes. “It wasn't your fault. I did everything they brought down on me and dozens of other things besides. My luck ran out and your happiness was collateral damage. I'm so sorry.”

Tears well in your eyes as you remember the trial in excruciating detail. Not for yourself, you always knew you would die like that. But the sharp knife of Gihyun's heart breaking in front of you never dulled, never stopped cutting. “God I'm so fucking sorry. Nothing hurts like love, right Gigi?”

You almost wished you were drunk, it might make what you were trying to say easier. “I'm….I'm not him, Gi. Not really. I'm her last desperate act, I'm his promise to see you again. I am her love for you and her last hope made manifest. All I'm asking for is a chance to try again, to fulfill my promise.”

Your hand drops from her cheek in the eternity it takes her to respond. Seconds, minutes, you don't know. All there is is the waiting.

“I really don’t wanna quit smoking” She says, covering her face with her hands. Perhaps both the movement and the joke are meant to conceal her tears.

The tension broken, you laugh. The sharp unmistakable laugh of Juliya Pergun, recognizable even from the wrong throat. And you think maybe this time it's all going to be okay as you wrap an arm around her shoulders. She folds into the hug so gently for someone so large.

Lavender Collins

Lavender Syrup:

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

2 Tbsp. dried culinary lavender

Cocktail:

1½ oz. vodka

¾ oz. lavender syrup

¼ oz. Page's Parfait Amour ( Violette Liqueur)

¾ oz. lemon juice, freshly squeezed

soda water

lavender flower, for garnish (optional)

For the lavender syrup, add the sugar, water, and lavender to a small saucepan, and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup has come to a simmer. Cook for 2 more minutes, and then take it off the heat and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Strain the lavender out; chill before using. Store refrigerated in an airtight container.

For the cocktail, add the vodka, lavender syrup, Page's Parfait Amour, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, and strain into an ice-filled Collins glass. Top off with soda water, and garnish with a sprig of lavender, if using.
