White Peach and Rose Sorbet
4 cups white peaches, sliced
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsp. rose water
1 cup sugar
½ cup water
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
rose petals for garnish
In a medium pot, combine the peaches, lemon juice, rose water, sugar and water to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until the sugar has dissolved and the peaches are soft.
Let the mixture cool for about 15 minutes, then pour the contents into the jar of a blender. Puree on high until the mixture is very smooth. Add extra 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and quickly blend for a few more seconds.
Pour the sorbet mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to directions or just pour it into a metal loaf pan and put in the freezer. Either way, the sorbet should be in the freezer at least 6 to 8 hours.

what discoveries have you made since the 2021 ghostkin / cloudkin post ? :p
Omg hi! Little warning for a ramble that might sound incoherent and "weird" to people who don't know how to have fun lol /lh (aka: I'm talking about my non-humanness, lol)
Warning! this gets VERY long, VERY specific and personal (not in a vent way, but in a "I'm rambling about myself" kind of way), and, somehow, incredibly scientific. Like, actually talking about a physics phenomenon and chemical reaction. I don't know, but yk how it is lol, I may be cringe but I am free
Well! I am indeed cloudkin and Ghostkin; rather, I've realized that I mostly feel like a cloud-looking spirit of sorts, inhabiting a human body if you will. I know some of my features (antlers, fangs, multiple eyes and dots and markings) but they're slightly shifting since my form isn't stable in itself!
Also, I know I'm fictionkin to some degree... Except I'm... not? See, I'm part of a system. I keep referring to myself as otherkin instead of just being a non-human sysmate because, despite this not being everyone's experience (completely valid), I technically "am" "the one that was here before the others""", rather, I was just here pre syscovery even if I know I've been plural for longer than that; but I felt so at home with kin terms that they felt right to use even when I don't see many systems referring to their individual members as X-kin. However, I did eventually realize that my connection to a certain character (I'd hide who it is... But I post about Dream sans on an almost daily basis and they've been the mental representation of myself for about five years now, like. They're me) but it didn't feel like being fictionkin to me; I AM some sort of introject, a semi-fictive I'd say. Plus Dream is a little ball of golden energy inhabiting a skeleton body... And so am I, a golden-looking spirit inside a body! So I'm ghost/cloudkin, galaxykin (simply because of the shifting nature and because my mind always feels so -vast-, like my body's too small to contain it, and it felt right to think of myself as a galaxy, and it was a good metaphor until it was just... intrinsically tied to who I am) and starkin for similar reasons (glowing mass of continuous chemical reactions... Me relating myself to chemistry doesn't end here, keep reading and you'll notice lol)
Stupidly enough, because this is so specific and no one ever seems to talk about stuff like this, one of the things I've realized about myself is what I'm made of; as in, which chemical-
It's something I've known for a while, before I went by Júpiter I went by Jay because I knew I wanted a name that started with J bc J and Q are the only letters not in the periodic table and I was like "oh, my name starts with J because I'm the missing element"; and then way before I had my gender figured out, the easiest way to explain my feelings was to talk about myself in pokemon types... I'd be a ghost/poison type, something about poison types always made me relate in a way? fitting lol
I think I had a huge species euphoria moment when we did the gold rain experiment (link leads to page explaining how to do the experiment) in my lab class. To put it simply, it is a mix of lead nitrate and potassium iodide that crystalizes, and then forms this snowball kind of effect, it looks like THIS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know, the mix of something looking so glittery, yet being so toxic (8g of lead nitrate are enough to kill you lol) made me go OMG ME
I want to also add that as a physics student + chemistry enthusiast, me feeling species euphoria from physics/chemistry concepts extends to more; for example I learnt about the De Broglie wave length and I haven't been normal ever since... idk how to properly explain it, so here's the wikipedia definition lol, shorter than what I was gonna write: "Matter waves are a central part of the theory of quantum mechanics, being half of wave–particle duality. At all scales where measurements have been practical, matter exhibits wave-like behavior. For example, a beam of electrons can be diffracted just like a beam of light or a water wave." And I don't know how to explain the inherent non-human euphoria I got being "related" to waves like light; like, yes!! I feel more incorporeal and more wave-like! I'm a ghost! Of course my specific properties aren't really "realistic" but come on, no one's trying to (dis)prove my existence.
I think I've just become very comfy in being non-human since 2021, maybe it's because my partner is also non-human and we've related a lot to each other in that regard; I just do the things that make me happy about it. I hide in bed with my prized possessions, makes me incredibly happy in an animalistic kind of way!
Other people find where they came from, who they were at some point. Personally, I do not have a spiritual past related to my non-humanity, I am a creature inhabiting a human body, so I don't have hearthomes or kin memories... I have weirdly specific attachments to physics concepts (part of the reason I must study physics, I need to understand the world on a deeper, non-human level) and feel euphoria over the weirdest shit lmfao

Calling Conceptkin/Objectkin!
I’m questioning being cloudkin and some other things as well.
I wanna know your experiences figuring out you are concept kin? Feel free to add any details!! I don’t seem much posts on us conceptkins, or even objectkin, etc.

I'm never going to see any of my friends again, am I? Tifa, Barrett, Red, Aerith, Reeve, Yuffie, Zack, Vincent, Cid... Aerith's Mom, Marlene, Bugenhagen, Biggs, Wedge, Jessie... Sephiroth... the leader of Tsunami... all of Barrett's summons... uh... Dolphin Blow guy? I was a friendly guy. Anyways! I'm from a comedy spinoff! Canon Tifa is so... nice! So even talking to regular sourcemates, it'd be... strange. Not right.
But they're gone, and they're never coming back.
And I can't even show anyone my source. Because it kind of sucks. :(

The alkonost is a large cloudkin native to northern Ilsabard. The males sport large antlers akin to deer and use them in a similar fashion, with a means for the species to boast strength and affirm their territories.

I stumbled on archetrope term coinings, and how do other archetropes feel about that?
For us at least, the thing with archetropes is you can be any archetype. There's people in my system with archetropes that are otherwise undescribed literary patterns. Several of us have tarot or fairy tales as archetropes. There's a level of identity freedom, creativity, and exploration.
With term coining, it feels like it's the antithesis of that to me. Like it's turning the focus onto the label or label hoarding aspects instead of that introspection, and making it so it needs to be a "thing".
I guess it also feels like if there were coining posts for "cloudkin" or "wyrmkin" or something like that. Like just because you were the first to make a flag for a label and post it on Tumblr doesn't make you the coiner of it inherently.

Honey Butter Cake
Honey Cake:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup honey
2 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. unsalted butter, room temperature
1½ cups sugar
4 eggs, room temperature
Honey Cream Cheese Frosting:
12 oz. unsalted butter, room temperature
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
4-6 cups confectioners’ sugar
⅓ cup honey
Honey Butterscotch Glaze:
⅓ cup sugar
¼ cup honey
½ cup heavy cream
1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
pinch of fine sea salt
gold sanding sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and lightly flour three 8″ round pans. In medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.  Set aside.
In small bowl, mix together the buttermilk, honey and vanilla.  Set aside. In bowl of stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed 4 minutes until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Gradually add the dry and wet ingredients, alternating, starting and ending with dry ingredients.  Mix until just combined, being careful not to over mix.
Divide batter evenly between the three 8″ round pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove to wire rack to finish cooling.
For the honey cream cheese frosting: In bowl of stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter and cream cheese until combined. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar and continue to mix, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Add honey and mix until smooth.
For the glaze: Combine sugar and honey in a medium pan over medium heat.  Stir until the sugar dissolves and you have a liquid. Continue to cook without stirring, swirling pan occasionally.  Mixture will bubble and start to darken in color.
Once mixture is butterscotch brown, stir using a wooden spoon and remove from heat. Carefully pour in the cream and stir until combined. Add butter and stir until smooth.  Add salt and stir once more. Let sauce cool completely before using on the cake!
Assemble the cake: Place one layer of cake onto serving plate or cake stand and top with about one cup of honey cream cheese frosting.  Repeat with second cake layer, more frosting and then last layer of cake. Crumb coat and frost cake with remaining frosting.  Refrigerate for 20 minutes or until frosting is set.
Drizzle butterscotch glaze over the top with small drips overflowing the edge. Refrigerate for 20 minutes or until glaze is set.  Sprinkle top with gold sanding sugar, if desired.

You’ve said that cloudtail considers himself like firestars son but does firestar feel the same way? Does he look at this fluffy makeup kitty and go “ah yes my sonboy”
He was his mentor! Mentors and apprentices have a relationship similar to being a third parent. They're supposed to be very close.
So, mostly yes. Enough that the technical details don't matter. For all intents and purposes, their relationship is father/son except when the social question of being Firekin pops up. Cloudkin cats don't have quite the same kinship to the other descendants of that group.
(Meaning that Duststripe, her kits Myrtle and Bay, and Spotfur don't feel like they're "firekin")
But anyway getting into the weird, unique specifics of what defines Firekin would take forever. Just know that BB is doing a lot of setup for how Firekin cats are an aberration from Clan familial structures because they are seen as special.
The deets on Cloudtail and Firestar though, is that... Firestar is all the family Cloudtail had. He was supposed to be the one to understand him, but Firestar projected a lot of his anxieties onto the poor kid. They didn't get along well when Cloud was young, and didn't do the proper work to make Cloud feel like a son.
Fireheart was practically a child too. He was losing friends, he almost saw Cinderpaw die because of a trap Tigerclaw laid, there was no more Spottedleaf to share her wisdom. He felt alone. He felt scared. He wasn't ready to raise a child, but he couldn't control Princess' pregnancy
He should have been a dad, but he was adamant he was his uncle. The message it sent Cloudkit was deep and painful.
I want BB to have a better reckoning with the fact that Fire was a pretty awful family member to him, unlike canon where Cloud is kidnapped and comes back saying "you were so right uncle!! Everything mean you ever said was right!!!" Y'know?
In a way that CAN be fixed, but acknowledging that Firestar isn't always perfect.

RoevemberXIV (2023)
Day 2 - Mount
Morgana's favorite mount will always be her first — Mojo, her stalwart chocobo companion. The two of them share a boundless love and deep respect for one another, making their combat and riding coordination particularly exceptional.
Mojo is a mixed-breed chocobo, possessing both Destrier and Percheron traits. Orphaned as a chick in the Dravanian Forelands when his mother was slain by thoughtless poachers, he was forced to learn to fend for himself, turning him into a cynical loner. Once full grown, the reclusive cloudkin took up a nomadic life across Aldenard. His formidable stature and tenacity allowed him to best creatures twice his size, earning him a sort of urban legend status as a "Killer Chocobo" that roamed Eorzea.
It was Morgana who eventually managed to thaw out Mojo's frozen heart. The two met by chance in the Black Shroud while in pursuit of a poaching operation — led by none other than the very same poachers responsible for orphaning Mojo. Though initially wary and annoyed about needing someone's help, Mojo unexpectedly found himself warming up to Morgana, who showed him a kindness and respect that he hadn't experienced in years. Their newfound friendship only grew when the Echo allowed Morgana to witness his tragic past, after which she swore to help her feathered ally finally get justice for his mother.
Within a week, the unlikely duo had track down their elusive foe, taking the poachers by surprise with a coordinated plan of attack. Despite being heavily outnumbered, their newfound camaraderie would lead to their triumph over the disbelieving crooks. Following the poachers' arrests, Morgana expressed her thanks to Mojo, admitting that she'd miss him when he returned to his life in the wild. But having found happiness with another for the first time since his mother died, Mojo instead chose to stay with Morgana, and the two have been inseparable since.

And malms to go before I sleep.
***echoes***
Zoissette was growing colder, but she refused to acknowledge it. Lavender's form continued to give way to void, and Zoissette was not sure what to do. Regular infusions of aether seemed to be helping Lavender keep her form, but it was barely keeping her aether from shifting ever more darkwards.
She was recognising the echoes they were traveling through less and less, and more and more often the landscape was appearing wrong, somehow. Bright skies with shadows of vicious black stabbing down with long fingers, plants that glowed eerily in dark light, yalms that stretched on for malms and time flickering as dark suns rippled overhead.
She stopped, and looked over at Lavender's head, bowed down. She bowed her head as well, breathing heavily. Her feet, her chest, her head all felt leaden.
And then she kept moving anyroad.
The landscape began to shift under her feet with every step, it seemed, but she ignored it as she kept pressing forward. Lifting her head, she could see a small clearing, and some people moving around in it.
"I can handle myself... for a time, Madam Commander," said Lavender.
Zoissette looked to her, and then nodded, letting her go. Lavender shifted, and floated nearby, but did not sink further.
The two walked into the clearing. It appeared to be a small settlement of some sort. There were rows of vegetables in a garden, a central communal stew pot, some small cloudkin clucking as they pecked at the dirt, some people milling around. Zoissette stepped around them. It varied from echo to echo whether or not people would interact with her or not. These ones seemed to be ignoring her, so she ignored them in turn.
Except one.
As she passed by the pot of stew, the Hrothgar tending to it snorted, and crossed his arms. She did not consider that he was reacting to her presence until he spoke.
"Why are you here? Another useless offer to help?" he said.
Zoissette stopped to look at him. She saw Lavender pulling back in surprise.
"Excuse me?" asked Zoissette, but the Hrothgar was already walking again, walking right through her as though she wasn't there, and she shivered at the passage. She turned as he continued on his way, watching the interplay of shadows against his silver and black stripes.
"...just an echo," she muttered, turning and walking away. Lavender quickly floated after her to catch up, as the landscape twisted around them, and she was walking the streets of La Noscea, crowds of people flowing past them, ignoring them.
"Madam Commander?" asked Lavender.
"I do not know," said Zoissette. "I ... I am not sure I even recognise him. Though he felt oddly familiar. That was... unusual."
Zoissette ducked into an archway, and Lavender followed her, looking up at the sky. She held a hand out to transfer aether to her, but Lavender shook her head as she gently pushed her hand aside.
"You sure?"
"We are sinking ever deeper, Madam Commander. And the flows here are ... discontent. I will be fine."
Zoissette frowned at her, but nodded, and turned away, coming face to face with a large Roegadyn woman. A pirate, with thick, powerful limbs, a bandana on her head marking which crew she was part of, her skin a blue green that would be at home in the sea.
"Why are you here?" the pirate asked, glaring down at her. "Feel bad for the poor little pirate down on her luck? I was better off before I met you, you know," she said, before walking right through Zoissette as though she was not there.
Zoissette stood, and stared off at the space where the pirate had been a moment ago. She brought a hand up to her chest, and looked down at the ground.
"Madam Commander?"
"...just an echo," said Zoissette. "We should keep moving."
Lavender trailed after her as Zoissette strode off, her movements still sluggish and heavy. She looked at the back of Zoissette's head as they moved, the world flowing past them as though they were walking through a river, colors swirling and mixing as they went.
And growing darker.
"Madam Commander," said Lavender, speaking slowly, her voice low as she surveyed their surroundings.
"Why are you here? Awkward and inelegant," said a voice, sultry and husky.
Zoissette and Lavender both turned to this new voice. A man with blonde hair and a haughty expression sat in a red chair, looking at them both with a frown. The voice had come from a Miqo'te woman, elegance personified, with blue skin and golden eyes, sitting on one of the arm rests, appearing to be bored. Servants milled about in the room around them, tending to every need of every guest save for Zoissette and Lavender themselves.
"Yes, why are you here? I only hire the best and the most handsome," the man joined in as he looped his arm around the woman's shoulder.
Zoissette's lips tightened to a thin line, as she headed for the door, and pulled it clear out of reality with the force of her yank. She let go of it as it went, and the walls folded around them, falling into the shapes of the dunes of Thanalan.
"Why are you here?" replied a thin voice with a clipped Sharlayan accent coming from a small Elezen, a boy of somewhat less than twenty summers. He was wearing a blue jumpsuit of some sort, and he was on his knees in the dust on the ground, his fists clenched in front of him as he looked up. "You could have stopped all of this."
Zoissette backed away from him slowly, as the landscape around them seemed to fold up to encompass and surround them. Lavender grabbed onto her arm, trying to shake it, trying to turn her away, trying to face her.
"Just an echo," said Zoissette, her voice strained. "Just - just echoes. They must be - they must be from those of me that failed. We are just looking at the possibilities of failures. I - I think this must be a dark place in the rift. We just need to keep moving."
Lavender shook her head. "I don't think that's it, Madam Commander. I think we've sunk too far. You are an eddy in the river, I can feel it swirling around us, I think it is-"
"Why are you here?" said a woman dressed in red, her long blonde hair tied behind her in a ponytail. She moved quickly, her strides short but rapid, and she was suddenly ilms away from Zoissette's nose, her blue eyes staring up into Zoissette's. "You could've saved him."
Zoissette backed away before this apparition could walk through her, and it turned to smoke. Lavender lost her grip on her arm, and followed after her as fast as she was able.
The world turned to streaks around them, and they swirled into a shape, taking the form of a Miqo'te woman, her bearing tall and regal despite her stature. Lavender was struggling to reach Zoissette, fighting against a flow that seemed intent on pushing her back. She looked through the shadows and smoke, almost reaching Zoissette just in time to see the Miqo'te raise her head, and look up with eyes that seemed to look through rather than at anything. "Why are you here?" she asked, with a voice dark and velvet. "You've wasted enough of your potential and enough of my years. Away with you," she said, as she turned to smoke and flowed away.
"Madam Commander!" Lavender yelled out, reaching out to try to grasp Zoissette once more, but Zoissette was fleeing, and they both spilled into the infinite deep.
