i Still don't understand the urge to label oneself anti endo and then act confused when no one is willing to listen to you. like be for real. If you saw someone call themself Anti [Your Identity Label] would you immediately invite them to a civil debate with you and seriously consider their opinion or would you immediately get defensive and assume they're a bad faith troll or bigot. genuinely.

if you saw someone call themself "anti-traumagenic" would you react poorly? I know i probably would. would you think it's acceptable if they clarified "oh i think theyre real, i just call myself that because i think their COMMUNITY is HARMFUL" would you be any less put off??? would you even accept that reasoning or would you say "no you're just ableist"???

so can we at least agree to stop acting Shocked when a group of people is angry at a community of people labeled "anti-[group]" because it just makes you look silly. im not saying you cant be critical of endos, im not even saying dont call yourself anti-endo. Im saying that if you DO willingly identify with that label and apply it to yourself, you look kind of silly when you then go "um? Why wont you LISTEN to me? Clearly you're in an echo chamber" as if youre not basically wearing a big graphic tee that says "I Don't Respect You"

(Im aware some people get called anti endo when they really arent, this post is not about you, on account of specifically being about self-identification, so please don't start. and if you id as anti endo out of SPITE, i have to ask.. do you do that with other labels? ... like, do you unironically start identifying as homophobic when people accuse you of homophobia for example? Do you think that's a compassionate or rational response?)

i cant speak for all but i can speak for myself. im a gaylor who grew up in asian. ofc i listen to openly queer and unapologetically queer artists like fletcher, janelle monáe, lil nas x, miley cyrus, hayley kiyoko, lady gaga, etc etc, but i (and some of my close asian gaylor friends) also live in an extremely homophobic society where queerness is even banned in public, let alone openly talking abt or showing queerness in real life. sometimes those openly queer artists' work just arent necessarily our queer experience. enter taylor swift. her music is SO relatable to closeted/semi-closeted queer ppl. maybe im not white, but those self-doubting, those secret loves and heartbreaks, those depressions, those disprovals from parents and society in taylor swifts music, they are so queer. they are so relatable so familiar, they are so me, they are so us. takes one to know one, right? so ofc we became gaylors. she def sings abt us. she def knows abt our type of queer struggles and also our type of queer joy. and we get to learn all those queer history no one could teach us abt! what a nice thing to have an online fandom like that!

i was NOT expecting a brilliantly written masterpiece about colonialism, but thats what i got, and its going in the greatest of all time hall of fame in my brain forever.

im not gonna sit here and regale you on the message of the movie. they only said fax, no printer, and its an important message to send kids. alot of the messages kids get about races and borders is “we are all the same 😚” but they came in with the “we are NOT the same and that is both good and bad, both exciting and dangerous so you need to be aware of dangerous ideas of “harmony”” and thats so real. kids need to understand differences are OK.

i love how they backed off the “chosen one” vibe poppy had in the first movie and talked about her flaws as a leader. while her stubborness was a good thing in the first movie to contrast branches pessimistic nature, it wouldnt have worked here, and i can see a cheap writer (like m*chael w*ldron) either insisting she gets away with her selfishness and carrying on with the happy ending anyway, or pretending that wasnt a character trait at all (because w*ldron doesnt watch the first movie and writes a sequel anyway)

my favorite scene is the bubble scene and the woods right after they leave funk where branch confronts poppy. do i even need to tell you why?

i just want to mention it because im pretty sure branch sings a cover of “girl crush” by little big town, which is a country band, and branch said he likes country music earlier and that slays. but when poppy comes in, what they sing is definitley not girl crush, and i cant tell if its giving “trolls can mix music” or im completley wrong and its a different song alltogether. but i cant tell if that song is homophobic or is super gay, so if im wrong thats prob for the best.

the only flaw i can think of is the country music, as a midwestern i can confidently say that was an affront to real blue grass country music. i guess born to die “works” but it didnt represent country as well as the other genres did. theres alot of controversy in the country music fandom with alot of singers who sound exactly the same and produced like its a factory line. but even if people still think miranda lambert and carrie underwood arent true country singers, their songs wouldve worked better than born to die. also the country trolls shouldve been on a self sufficient farm instead of the wild west. that wild western jazzy piano and country music isnt the same.

the only bad part about the movie is that it ended and barb ATE. SHE LEFT NO CRUMBS WITH THAT INTRO. send ask.

And yeah I love Poppy and how she can accomplish A LOT but she doesn't make it on her own, she needs character development and help from others just like everyone else. Characters are surprisingly realistic.

Barb really was goat, the best antagonist in the franchise. I love parallels between her and Poppy, how both had different intentions (Poppy wanted to help and Barb wanted to conquer) but Poppy's method was also wrong and both Poppy and Barb and everyone had to make compromises for all tribes to live in harmony because no one has to change their lifestyle for that to happen, all they have to do is accept that they're different and that's perfect. Just be yourself and let others be themselves.

That song in the end (Just Sing) slaps hard (and so does Can't Stop The Feeling btw).

Not so much a confession as a funny story. Everyone has their way that they found out they were aspec. Long journeys of self discovery and questioning, etc, it can be very difficult to figure out that youre supposed to be feeling something that you arent feeling. But my realisation happened a little differently.

Some of my friends are... odd, and sexual topics came up very often. While I found the things they were saying uncomfortable, it was always fun to share my thoughts on whatever the topics were because it confused them like, alot. It was always fun to see their reactions to the things I was saying.

Its worth noting I was well aware of what aroace was and it was all very clear. I found out around the time when Jaiden came out, and my immediate reaction was what the fuck, thats Awesome. Thats the best sexuality by far. But I had just never connected the dots. I never really did.

Then in one of these discussions with my friends, I think one of my responses waas a little... too far out there. I dont remember the conversation, but I think the response eliminated the idea of "oh hes just innocent and doesnt expose himself to sexual content" and it immediately clicked for one of my friends.

He turned, looked me directly in the eyes, pointed, and said

"ACE."

And I quietly sat there for a moment considering what he said and very quickly realised, hold the fuck up, that would explain alot.

One of those, uhh... "friends" still didn't really get it. He had referred to me as "celibate" in the past, and I didnt know what it meant at the time, but after some time thinking and going back to them and saying yeah, I think youre right I do think Im aroace, he said it again, "Nk youre not its not real youre just a celibate." And I still didnt know what it meant at that point otherwise I couldve easily explained why he was wrong, but hes just so sex obsessed he cannot imagine someone who isnt. And I wasnt worried about the fact he was just not accepting it because noone gives a shit about anything he says. He says all kinds of racist, homophobic etc shit and people immediately tell him to dhut the fuck up. Hes less "friend" and more "we cant get rid of him so we just tell him to shut the fuck up and tell him why hes wrong". This bit has lost the point a little bit, the main focus is that instead of spending a long time figuring out for myself, I literally got told, loud and clear, out of nowhere, the obvious answer.

tw mentions of transphobia homophobia racism and bullying, here's my ramble

what if i cant make amends? i made amends before, i fucked up with the person again, i fucked up , badly, i acted bigotted and i regret it now, for real this time. and i decided at that time to cut that person off from my life. simply because keeping that cycle of "im sorry, i fuck up again" was unhealthy. i think that making amends with people is needed if and only if the person comes to you for explanation - and apologies.

i think about bojack horseman's apologies episode - but he ended up hurting everyone. it's not because he simply didnt mean it - but also because he showed up, impromptuly, in the life of people he hurt and didn't want to hear about him, ever.

now to say i fucked up as badly as him - but the guilt i feel is there, and this impresion of "what the fuck are you doing back in my life, go away' the people we hurt in the past have - is real.

the internet crowd also - wouldn't be happy about making a donation to a cause. for example - imagine you used to act transphobic or homophobic or racist, and you decide to make a donation to an association. no matter the amount, people will say "you're just performing" or "what, only x dollars? arent you (job)?"

that's why attonement feels impossible, no matter what you do, it's not possible to feel 100 percents healed from the past, because you never will.

voicing your regrets, striving for the best, treating the next people better, being kinder isn't ignoring closure from the past.it's quite moving on from it. i know pretty much so many people who told me they wouldn't want to deal with me again because of views i had, actions i made in the past. with those situations, how am i supposed to "atone for my sins" where i must respect the boundaries those people set, aka "get out from my life"? i can only carry regret in me.

it's good to note that i made those awful life choices when i was between age 17 and 19, i have identity disturbance problems and acted like a sponge to bad influences. getting cancelled is something i fear but that i'd honestly roll with "yeah that just happened, i'm sorry for everything" which is honestly the bare minimum - but at the same time, you can never ever appease everyone.

i remember once someone who bullied me apologized to me, i felt nothing. so when someone fucks up badly, making amends is useless, it's just self serving, because what tells that the victim will actually accept your apology? what if it sinks them down further?

i don't know how comfortable i am answering this ask. it asks me to solve a problem that i'm not really qualified to solve, or frankly able to solve with the information you've given me. i am just a rando on the internet and you should not be treating me as an authority figure.

that said, you are clearly in the middle of the kind of anxious death spiral that is both destructive to yourself and useless for any kind of self-improvement, so... my attempt is under the cut.

i mean, you have to seriously consider whether an attempt to apologize will do anything for the other person - maybe it will, maybe it won't, that's on a case by case basis. i'm not the person to ask about that. i do think in most cases that a properly non-self-centered apology probably won't hurt. but that's just my opinion, i'm not god. it's something you have to decide for yourself. i don't peddle redemption arcs.

but primarily like. the thing you need to do is learn your lesson and then Move On Dot Org. don't wallow, just learn, accept, and live with. it actually doesn't benefit anyone for you to hurt yourself.

now, obviously, there are some things you can do which i think should bar you from being or having certain types of authority.

for a rather small, petty example, i can think of one person i know who was a bully in high school and deeply regretted it, but then got deeply into the "callout witch hunt" side of tumblr social justice and replicated their old bullying behaviors pretty closely, but this time just in a way where they could have it fit with their code of ethics. so like, "i believe i have the right to decide who should be harassed over a callout" is a kind of authority to grant yourself, and i am kind of ambivalent on anyone having that authority, but also specifically That person should not have had it, because they just used it to satisfy their desire to put other people down in a "more ethical" way.

so like. it is more effective to strip yourself of certain types of authority than to punish yourself. if you don't have the right to decide whether people deserve cruelty, you cannot be cruel to them. but this is not a punishment, it's simply a loss of certain privileges.

and things like "being happy," "having friends," "having a nice time playing video games" are all rights you shouldn't have taken away as a result of past behavior. but "presenting yourself as an authority on a topic," "being involved with one specific person," and "making money off your reputation online" are all privileges you might potentially want to strip yourself of if your past behavior showed that you can't be trusted with them. again, this is not a punishment, and is not intended to induce misery - it is simply a reasonable precaution.

and also, with respect to being cancelled or not - do not worry about this. that doesn't really have anything to do with you. get thicker skin. if someone tries to cancel you and they are more popular than you, you will be cancelled. if they are less popular than you, they will be cancelled. whether a cancellation is successful is purely a product of social power and is unrelated to morals. my recommendation is to make peace with the fact that if you live your life in public people will sometimes hate you. this is their problem, but also it's their right. you can't stop them and i would go so far as to say you shouldn't try. they can't do anything to you unless they doxx you, which probably won't happen unless you're really famous. or they can take your internet income stream away if you have one. the best way to defend against this is to have a real job.

my last post had me thinking about how autistic people have so much religious trauma or js rejection to religion in some way. and while recounting my experience, i came to a realization: autistic people are demonized by radical religious people. not just cults, but people who follow christianity. these christians arent your usual accepting loving christians- im talking about the bible thumper christians that take everything out of context. they believe "oh well hey look! if god doesnt make imperfection, and people are born with autism, and autism is an imperfection, then god didnt make autistic people and theyre all born evil!" they also use that for other disabilities from birth. autistic behaviors are also different from most people without it so there have been radical christians who believe we're possessed. just because a three year old with a developmental disorder likes to stack their toys instead of playing with them. or because the kid is five and still only says three phrases. (ive heard one of these radical religious ableists talk about "muted spirits" and demon posession or whatever.) our brains are sensitive to loud noises which churches have a lot of and we are sensitive to flourescent overhead lighting which also makes them think we're evil. "they cant stand light! theyre demons!" did we say we need everything dark? no just not too bright. neurotypical people with migraines have the same sensitivity and don't get the same ableism for it all the time if they do. our brains just are wired differently. usually its genetic, and genetic mutations are usually caused by environmental factors. do these people ever consider that autism could be caused by exposure to pollution while the mom is pregnant or while the baby is still in the first year of life? no, they choose to believe we're inherently born evil. and if we arent facing the "you were born this way. thats bad" view, we're faced with the "autism isnt real. its just demons" view as done by a pastor rick morrow of beulah church in richland, missouri. he said "my god doesnt make junk" referring to us as junk. and saying hes done prayers that healed autism. i also read lots of autistic athiests posts, and thats how i realized. autistic non-evangelicals hate god because they think He hates them, causing them to be unsure about the world and/or use athiesm as a coping mechanism. i believe in freedom of religion, this isnt about forcing athiests to be christian or vice versa. this is about how religion is being used as a tool for abuse and ableism. autistic people aren't born evil, and they don't rebel against god until theyve been hurt by religion. radical christians are something wrong with this country- they spread hate, they gaslight minorities including mentally disabled people, theyre ableist, and theyre homophobic and transphobic. they hate anyone that isnt superior, meaning they only like white able bodied able minded people. i could go on and on about how radical christians especially how theyve hurt autistic people and i might add to this with more rants.

tbh, no... like if this is about arguing if lesbians "can" say top/bottom or whatever then i dont think u need to read historical essays or something bc the insistence lesbians 'can't' use those words doesn't come frm history, it comes from the homophobic and misogynistic notion that lesbians don't penetrate eachother, and the erasure and desexualisation of lesbian sex (I know!) by men, very much including gay men. the men who are arguing this, it isn't ABOUT history, it's about indignance to the idea of women as sexual beings, women as "real gays", women as party to an exclusive boys club. the dynamic between us and gay men ISNT symmetrical, bc they hold power over us (misogyny) but we hold nothing in return, you get the picture.

the words top and bottom arent sacred history, they aren't a community or an art form that one group worked tirelessly to establish and another group with power over them came and took out of their hands. so I think lesbians "can" say top and bottom because well. we can BE tops and bottoms, and there's no reason not to use the language that exists for describing that. i can give you books where lesbians penetrate eachother and essays where lesbians communicate their desire to either penetrate or be penetrated to other lesbians, but ultimately i would just ask why you need to see that.. what IS ‘top/bottom history’ ?? you mean you want to know more about the history of women fucking? you need historical proof that women fucked eachother? or you need to see specific usage of the terms top and bottom??

I would really encourage young lgbt people to question this notion you have been given that historical justification is necessary for anything to exist. we aren't christians and stone butch blues isn't the bible. if you think about it for a second this both creates a paradox where nothing is allowed to happen for the first time, and also means that ig bigotry and nonsense is fine as long as you can find historical justification?? plus what even happens if you find contradicting historical accounts which you know, you will constantly..... history matters inasmuch as it affects the present, when it comes to honouring the labour of marginalised people - for example, its significant that poor black gay people were instrumental in the development of vogueing and it was subsequently ripped off by rich white straight people; its important to honour the black trans women who were instrumental in the modern gay rights movement that we all benefit from, etc. HOWEVER, if there hadn’t been a single black trans woman at stonewall it WOULDNT mean black trans women in the modern day arent an incredibly vulnerable group that the lgbt community needs to support. whats the difference if the first lesbian to call herself a top was in 2010, or 2000, or 1990, or 1960??? at what point in time do gay people’s lives stop being scripture and start being fraud? i dont believe in the segregation of useful language over some kind of weird intellectual property thing....the issue is terms being misused & the only cases where a term can only be used by a certain group is when it describes an experience exclusive to that group, like white lesbians cant be studs bc it describes a relationship to black masculinity that nb people simply dont have any experience of. lesbians calling ourselves tops/bottoms correctly is not the same thing bc like we do have access to the experience of penetratively fucking eachother in a non-normative way, the dynamic of which cant just be assumed by default, and that being important to communicate... the direction of privilege is also important bc when a privileged group appropriates terminology from a more marginalised group, they often become the new authorities over a term they did not create because their voices are more prominent than those they took the term from - and it often results in the warping of its meaning especially in cases where it was coined to describe a specific experience of that group, leaving them without a term to describe that experience effectively. lesbians using a term coined by gay men is NOT that because .... men are not a marginalised group. lesbians calling ourselves tops and bottoms is in literally no way hindering gay men communicating their sexual preferences to other gay men. i feel like im starting to repeat myself here but omg this weird dogmatic insistence on historical evidence for everything feels straight up reactionary at this point & feels no different than american conservatives needing to find a clause of the constitution or christians needing a bible verse for everything. like none of this is definitive its just gay people who existed in the past just like i am a gay person who exists today.... some gay people in the past were wrong, or bigots, or stupid, and so are some today. theres no magical historical document u can find to prove ur point, ur just going to have to argue for it on its own merits. like in 10 years this post will be history so ill be right then?

Ngl, I’m not really happy about The Winchesters being picked up even though I expected it. Jensen has made it very clear that we’re not his intended audience, so I doubt a lot of us would actually like it. It’s probably just gonna be a newer version of the first three seasons of supernatural but with more women and poc. And I’m sorry but even his attempts at diversifying the cast doesn’t seem genuine to me. I’m definitely not saying it’s a bad thing but it seems like he’s trying to get brownie points or fill some sort of quota.

First off anon Im so sorry, i was planning to answer and then forgot.

I pretty much feel the same. Marginalised people getting to see themselves in media is a good thing, so them having a queer guy and a woman of colour in the main cast is a good thing on paper. However a lot of people (including me and you) have the weird feeling that theyre doing this for clout and bc they think marginalised people will take any scraps theyre given.

Ofc we have no way of confirming this suspicion and we may be waaay off base, but i dont get tired of talking about how ive been here for a decade and ive seen jackles be weird around gay shit on spn, the most recent example being the very weird no homoing of the confession by calling it "holier than human love" or something. i dont think hes a straight up homophobe, but you will excuse me for being suspicious of his motives here.

also yeah he literally said people who werent gonna watch the prequel arent real fans, which was OBVIOUSLY a joke, i get it, but idk what hes expecting when he makes a prequel about john winch.

and what i find a bit annoying is people trying to guilt trip others who say they wont watch it bc "if this show fails jackles might not get to make other, better spn related shows". im glad you still havent given up hope, but im not waiting for jackles to come up with a stellar spn spinoff or a destiel show or whatever when his first and best idea for a spn related show was "prequel about two characters we literally already know everything about, one of which is hated by a big part of the fandom". I hope the actors can use this to jumpstart their careers, but other than that this can get cancelled after one season for all i care...

on the baby boy issue... its cause i honestly am kinda dumb, like i cant count, im dyslexic, i understand things slowly, im an air head. and im kinda childish and not very serious at all. very shrug what can you do type. i dont like responsability and wing everything. and im very effeminate so my partners tend to go with that kind of vocabulary for me.
