Can we maybe get pt.2 of I’ll be lonely with you?
can you be lonely with me? — MIGUEL O'HARA
SUMMARY: ever since your first real encounter with miguel, you're sure that your relationship him has grown ever since. it's hard to put an exact label on it but it's safe to say that he's grown more comfortable to confide in your presence nowadays.
Tumblr media
NOTES: i keep getting reqs for miguel fluff and a part 2 from the last fic i did so i am killing 10 birds with a machine gun here. you also don't really need to read the first fic to understand this one but if you want to see how it all starts out then it's on my masterlist if you wanna get a better understanding of it! this one is more from miguel's perspective by the way :3 this gets fluffier as i proofread it uhhh good luck you're gonna get cavities!!!
No matter where he went, no matter how hard he tried. Noise, it followed Miguel.
If he was dealing with an anomaly, he would hear the shrieks and cries of the people all around him. The shuttering of phone cameras, law enforcement telling civilians that they'll be able to handle it.
If he was in his own dimension, walking amonst the other Spider-people, he would hear the chatter and the gossip. Mechanical whirring, the sound of webs being shot, it's like it was haunting him.
It's the reason why he enjoyed staying in his office so much. Even if he can hear the occasional bang or clang, it was mostly quiet. He's contemplated getting earplugs to drown out the sounds but there's always a need for him to be alert.
That's where you come in.
Granted, it's not like you were a magical pair of noise-cancelling headphones that descended from the heavens (maybe just a little bit) but you provided some relief for Miguel.
On the chance that the two of you met, whether it's in the cafeteria, passing by each other in headquarters, or once you built up the courage to actually visit him in private—
He didn't want to admit it. It might be a little dramatic but he'd rather die than admit it.
But... he enjoyed your company.
Granted, he had trouble putting his thoughts into words at times. Talking about the arachno-humanoid-poly-multiverse could be easier than answering a question about what his favorite pet was but you? You made it seem so simple, so easy.
You didn't really talk to him about crude and mindless topics such as 'how his day went' or whatever. Conversations could span from your childhood best friends to your most memorable trip with your family or even high school love lives.
Miguel contributed much less to the conversation obviously but listening to you talk was more than enough for him. Your voice satieted him, it was almost addicting.
The melodies sung by birds in the morning, the praise he receives from colleauges about his deeds. They couldn't even compare to you.
Although, there were a lot of things that he also hated about you.
He hated how you could make him hear his heart drumming in his chest whenever you lay your hands on him. Even if it's for the most miniscule of things, like whenever you brush shoulders or graze fingertips; it sends a pleasurable shiver up and down his spine.
He hated your face, your smile, your eyes. Whenever he had the chance to open up about himself, when you had the pleasure of experiencing the rarity that is hearing a personal detail about Miguel; he'd look back at you once he finished talking and he'd see that look. A look of how proud you were of him, a look of longing and wanting. It's taken his breath away more than you'd ever hear him say.
He hated your compassion. Miguel has had an uncountable amount of bad days that if he made an attempt to number them, it would give him migraines. During those days, he would be grumpy, irritable, upset at the little details and during those days, you still wouldn't give up on him how he imagined even some of his better known acquaintances probably would.
Most of all, he hated himself for not knowing why.
For the longest time, he's thought of himself in the worst way possible. Unlikeable, difficult to be around, anti-social, and so much more and so much worse. Why did you continue to stay with him?
Having late night meals or snacks with him has now become a very frequent occurence, it was practically a ritual at that point. You'd even managed to convince to come out during more normal hours for lunch or just to "take a stroll around".
He's given up on himself, given up on the possibility that he could be anything more than his role of protecting the multiverse.
Yet, you gave him even the smallest sliver of hope.
He hated himself for wanting to hold onto it.
He didn't care anymore if he didn't know the reason why you continued to tolerate him after all this time, all he knew is that he'd try to stay by your side to the best of his ability. Holding onto that brittle string of a dream you handed him.
Key statement being 'to the best of his ability', tonight was such a time he couldn't be able to see you, much to his dismay. Swamped with surveillance, reports, reminiscing. The last time that he got a glimpse of your beauty was earlier this afternoon, only god knows how many hours have passed since then.
Perhaps it would be best if he found out himself. "Lyla," He called out, the virtual assistant hovers over his shoulder. Pixels floating over him. "What time is it?"
A little clock glitches into Lyla's hands, she hums before looking back at Miguel with her usual smug expression. "3:47 in the morning. You've been at it for seven hours now, Miguel."
His eyes flutter short for a moment, possibly the only wink of sleep that he'll get through out the night. Even when his eyes are closed, it's like the screens he's been looking at for hours to no end are now tattooed into his eyelids or something.
With a deep sigh, he continues working at it anyway. It's not like whatever anomaly or evil that's awaiting him in a distant universe will allow to him to get some shut-eye anyway. What's the use if he takes such an opportunity now?
Unusually, Lyla doesn't 'disappear' yet. Normally once he's done making a request, she poofs straight into thin air unless she's going to make remark back at him yet she remains in complete silence.
"Anything else, Lyla?"
"Someone's coming." She announces abrubtly, her tone is blank and lacking of emotion. Is that a sign of danger? Without daring to hesitate, Miguel puts his mask on. Eyes shifting to each dark corner in the room, ready to snatch and tear at whatever beast is—
All of a sudden, there's giggling. Coming from Lyla, of course. A hand clutches at her stomach, the other waving a finger in his face. The small outburst of laughter sends echoes. "Oh, wow! You're that paranoid already? Jeez, get some sleep maybe..."
As quickly as his mask came on, he takes it off. An aggravated scowl playing at his features, Miguel folds his arms over his chest. "I can't believe you. No me asustes así, Lyla. Is there someone coming or not?"
Finally, her stream of cackles stop as she catches her breath. She nods, perching herself on his shoulder; she pretends to check her nails. "Take a guess."
"I don't know. Who?"
"Come on, take a gander at who. You won't believe who it is."
"Lyla, no more messing around. Dime quién es, or else I'm putting you on low power mode." The threat is empty and there is no low power mode, Miguel has said it to her more than a dozen times but the response that he's able to provoke with it is a little laughable.
Begrudginly, she swipes a screen into view. Revealing you entering the hallway that leads into his very office, he's barely even get a good look at it before the screen disintegrates. Lyla crosses her arms, basically imitating the same position that Miguel is in right now.
"Happy?"
"Very. Leave us alone for a bit, won't you?"
In retaliation, she sticks her tongue out at him before her avatar shatters into mere blocks of code then disappearing entirely. Perfect timing he'd say as he sees you come into view on the stage below.
Once you're able to catch sight of him, you wave at him. That same gleeful smile that tugs at his heart strings. The lowering of his platform is finished, signified with an audible click.
You don't hesitate to head on up, immediately you wrap your arms around Miguel, pulling him into a warm but unexpected embrace. He doesn't have time to respond or think, muscles tensing once greeted with your touch.
He doesn't get the chance to hug back either before you pull away, hands remaining on his shoulder and his forearm. Only then does he realize that the grin you wore was tinged with a hint of concern.
"Sorry, sorry," You sputter out, chest rising up and down as you huff with relief. "I just didn't see you in the cafeteria a while ago, I thought something happened to you but I had to go back to my dimension due to reasons."
There's a sharp punch at Miguel's head once he realizes. He forgot about your midnight ritual, drowning in his work that he neglected the one other person important to him. "Mierda, I'm so sorry. It— it slipped my mind, I was just..."
Unable to finish his sentence, mind scrambling for what to tell you. To say that he was doing his job would maybe be fair but would it spare any of the pain that he may have caused you for missing it?
He's fully expecting you to be simmering with anger, even by just a little bit. That whole thing was how you two got to develop such a connection with each other anyway and he fucked it up.
A small lecture, a scolding, a disappointed glare.
"Hey, hey. It's fine, what matters is that you're okay. Whatever tasks you're taking on here are really important, I'm not upset at all. You're just doing what you gotta do,"
Nothing?
Nothing at all!
"Oh." All the apologies, the reasons he's been looking for, the pleading that he would've saved as a last resort to quell your boiling rage has now gone out the window. "Are you sure?"
"Of course, I am. I have no reason to be mad at you right now, Miguel. Although..." Oh no. Here it comes, brace yourself! "When's the last time you slept? I swear,"
His hands clench into fists, nearly flinching away as your hand reaches up to his cheek. Your thumb rubs the circles under his eyes, "These get deeper everytime I see them." With a sigh of defeat, he wraps a hand of his own around your wrist. Cheeks sinking into the soft caress, ever so slightly.
The way that your expression twists into one of worry once he doesn't respond, how Miguel feels the stinging in his chest for making you concerned but he thought it would be better than telling you honestly.
Your hand slips from his cheek, he tries to tamp down the disappointment at the loss. "I wish I could stay for longer but you have your duties, I have mine."
He nods understandingly, why wouldn't he? He knew that notion best, arguably a lot more than most Spider-people. At least, he'd be able to better appreciate this moment you two shared no matter how short lived it was.
"Promise me that you'll sleep once you're done."
Silently, barely even above a whisper, he utters: "I promise."
You shoot him one last smile before you swing back onto the lower platform, sparing one last glance then you disappear into the dark hallway. Miguel's face falls once you leave,
He despises how he misses you already.

Both Miles x Male!Spiderman!Reader pt 2
Here’s the poorly written seconded part. I’m starting to realize I can’t write fighting scenes that good, or write good in general.
Also I’m on a week long trip so I can’t really update and/or write so apologies.

You three didn’t hesitate to attack. The prowler suited up and ran towards the both of you, his anger obvious in the way he fought. Miles was laughing, taunting the other.Your Miles imitated the actions of a boxer, saying some stupid remark while you jumped over both their heads and swung around them. You glided in the air and came back around to kick the Prowler in the back. He turned around and you both engaged in a battle of punches and kicks. He was trained for moments like these, punching with his strength and his movements like liquid. You punched quickly while kicking him. He was pushing you backwards towards the window. He punched you, his claw scratching your face while you barely dodged. You spun around and kicked him, using your strength to send him back.
The prowler fell back but jumped back up staring directly at you. His claws moved into another mode. The edges gained padding and his movements were slower. He took quick steps towards you and aimed for your gut. Before he could punch you you moved and grabbed his fist, rolling onto the floor while throwing him to the other side of you. You heard him sigh before he aimed for your face.
You both laid on the ground while trying to kick and punch each other. You dragged your foot up to his face while he was punching you on his side. It didn’t take long for Miles to web him and drag him towards himself. “Let us go!” Miles pulled with more and more strength, messing up at times. “We need to go home. We’re trying to save my dad! Our dad!”
You ran towards the window before you heard crashing behind you. Your Miles was laying on the floor in the kitchen with pots and pans around him. The Prowler stalked towards him, standing over him as if he was a better being.
“Your dad,” he corrected. “And you’ll save him, if you’re a good enough hero.”
The Prowler looked back at you and ran towards you, his claws back to normal now. You aimed for the roof and shot your web in an attempt to escape.
“Miles,” you yelled. They both looked at you and you took the moment to send the Prowler into the wall. “Let’s go!”
Without missing a beat, your Miles shot a web outside and swung away. You ran to the window when you heard the Prowler groaning. Looking back you saw nothing. He had disappeared, the wind had flown through the whole apartment, something wasn’t right. The conversation they had earlier seemed too important for the Prowler to just leave.
“Where-,” you were caught off with a mechanical hand around your mouth. You were bashing around in his arms while he whispered sweet nothings into your ears. He went on and on how you were like the one from his universe and how your Miles no longer had you. He was dragging you into the stairway slowly, your arms and feet were moving around not hitting anything.
He stopped, “Calm down pretty boy. He’s back and you don’t want me to fight him.” You froze at this right of the stair way you can see Miles looking around the apartment. He had noticed your absence and you would do anything to go back to him and you will. “They’re now calm.” He took his hand off of your mouth, his grip slightly looser. You noticed how his aura changed around you, it seemed softer. Like he was protecting someone he loved.
You refused to believe that there was an evil version of Miles out there. After learning about the multiverse, you realize there are many versions out there, some worse than this. Miguel talked about the spider and how Miles was supposed to be the true Prowler. This Miles just needed someone like you, his universe version of you, maybe that's why he’s obsessed with you.
“Miles?” He hummed. “I’m sorry.” You elbowed him in the face and shot a web across the apartment. Your Miles saw you, his eyes lighting up and a smile across his face, you swung towards him and picked him up, swinging away.
“What happened?” He wrapped his arms and legs around you while he was supported by your hand in his waist.
“Nothing. Let’s go home.” The cool breeze calmed you two down. Memories of your dates replaying in your mind. How you two worthless take turns swinging while the other holds onto each other. You two were in sync like muscle memory. For a moment nothing but peace and adrenaline was felt. You two were going home but the sounds of the city being destroyed behind you ruined it. “This guy doesn’t quit,” Miles sighed.
“What did you talk to him about?” He stiffened in your arm. His grip on you tightened while you swung faster. “Miles. What did you guys talk about?”
He awkwardly chuckled,” You.” You two exchanged looks, ”Hey you can’t get mad at me. I was trying to distract him from you so you could save me. Besides it’s not like he’s ma-NO HE’S MAD. SWING FASTER.” The Prowler had caught up to you two running from roof to roof. “MILES!”
Miles let go of you and dropped to the roof below. He started to run and fight the Prowler. They moved fast and around the whole building. Webs and punch marks littered the roof, you took this opportunity to get the portal open.
You prepped the gadget, putting your blood into the vile to go back home when the Prowler grabbed your suit from behind. “Let him go!”
Miles and…Miles were still fighting. Your blood finger was dripping while you tried to punch the other Miles. “Leave him with me,” he said calmly. “You don’t deserve him.”
The portal was opening up way too early for your liking. “No. Don’t you piece of-“ you were thrown back while your Miles stepped in front of you. You were tired to say the lease. Being thrown around and it didn’t help that the portal was opened. Sighing, you leaped up and raced towards the two. There was no time to waste, there were lives at stake. You need to be the hero needed in that universe. They were perfectly lined up with the portal. You grabbed your Miles and ran into the portal, only for the Prowler to grab your suit and fall in with you two.

Just wanted to say thank you all for the support on the first chapter, I really appreciate it.
You're just like an angel pt2
Tumblr media
You were pretty much stuck in the corner of the room as that spiderman continued whatever he did. It was extremely boring just
stuck in the corner.
"Miguel" a woman's voice called as a pregnant lady entered, she was dark-skinned with an afro and wearing red and black motorbike gear. She was also visibly pregnant. While she waited for the platform she looked around, and her eyes landed on you.
Once the platform finished lowering.
"What's she doing here?" She asked.
"I interrogated her before, keeping her til I get all the information I can about that recent outburst of anomalies" he explained. She looked back at you for a second as she inspected you.
"So what did you call me for?" She asked.
"I wanted to see if you'd be on standby for the next few days, the frequency of anomalies has been on the rise recently and I'm trying to get as much backup as possible" he explained.
"Sure thing, is that all you needed me to come in for?" she replied.
"Yes," he replied.
"Well I appreciate you asking me in person, I'll see you tomorrow," she said before leaving.
"Miguel?" You said his name. His heart stopped for a second as he heard you say his name, the way it rolled off your tongue was almost heavenly.
"And you need to know my name?" He asked.
"Well you already know mine, it seems only fair" you replied. He only hummed in response before his attention left you.
"LYLA how many anomalies are in the facility?" He asked before a small hologram of a lady appeared.
"What else?" She asked smugly.
"Please" he muttered.
"Please what?" She asked.
"Please tell me how many anomalies are in the facility" he replied with a sigh of defeat.
"That's better, some manners get you a whole lot further" she replied, lecturing him like a child.
"Just tell me!" He snapped, causing you to flinch.
"Ok ok, currently we have 134 anomalies in the facility" she replied.
"That's more than we can release in a day, if this keeps up we're going to have to put the machine into overdrive just to keep up with the demand" he muttered to himself before leaving the room.
You sighed, it seemed like it was going to be a while before you'd get the chance to return.
🕷🕷🕷
It felt like forever before he returned with two small cardboard packages. He walks straight to you and stood in front of the cage.
"You're not going to try and run off if I open this, are you?" He asked you in a stern tone.
"No" you replied.
"Good, I'll hold that to you" he replied before turning the cage off and handing you one of the boxes.
"I got you the vegan burger, since I didn't know what your dietary needs were but if it's not what you want I can get someone to get you something else" he explained.
"No that's fine, thank you" you replied as you pulled the burger out of the box and took a bite, it was really good. The patty almost tasted like real meat.
"Mmm this is great" you replied after swallowing.
He sat nearby on the chair you had previously been in before beginning to eat his food. It'd been a very long time since he had eaten with another person, not since the breakfast before the universe he'd been in collapsed. He wondered why he even stayed to eat with you, surely he could have just caged you again and eaten somewhere else but he didn't.
"It sounds like you guys have been busy with all these portals," you said in an attempt at conversation.
"Yes, it's been like this for 3 days now and I'm stuck trying to figure out why it's spiked all of a sudden" he explained.
"Thus is why you interrogated me?" You asked.
"Not exactly, you entered the portal to my universe after another anomaly entered yours. I had to make sure that anomalies weren't figuring out how to communicate between the multiverse" he explained before he finally took a bite of his empanadas.
"So what happens when I do get sent back, am I going to get my memory wiped? Are you expecting me to stop what I've been doing?" You asked.
"We haven't figured out an effective way to erase the memories of anomalies yet and I don't expect you to stop, as long as you're not affecting the multiverse you're the problem of your universe spiderman" he answered.
"So all you Spidermen know each other?" You said before taking another bite.
"Most of us, it was the most efficient way to manage the anomalies" he explained.
"Interesting," you thought out loud.
Then a ringing erupted and he put the box down, he sighed as he looked at his half-eaten food before looking at the device he had on his wrist.
"I have to go," he told you before the cage closed on you again.
"I'll be back later," he told you before he put on his mask and what you assumed was a portal opened. He walked through and it disappeared.
🕷🕷🕷
Miguel returned a few hours later to see you had curled up on the cold ground asleep. He left the room quickly to grab a pillow and blanket from the infirmary before returning and turning the cage off. Putting the pillow under your head and draping the blanket on top of you. A singular tear ran down his cheek as he did so. It took him back to the late nights he'd return home and see his wife and daughter had fallen asleep during a movie. He'd pick up his daughter and tuck her into bed before he'd do the same with his wife.
He didn't turn the cage back on, he should have but instead, he picked you up and took you to a room he'd kept just out of sight from others. It was a small room he'd furnished as a secondary bedroom for when he wasn't able to go back home. He laid you on the bed and walked out but turned back to look at your sleeping form before locking the door behind you.
He realized something, something that horrified him. He was falling for you. It shouldn't happen. He vowed that his late wife was the only one he could ever love. He couldn't be with you, you were from two completely different universes. You were never supposed to even meet. His hands balled into white-knuckled fists by his side talons threatening to pierce his palms.
He should have sent you home, returned you to your own family but his heart ached at the thought of letting you go. Part of him told him to keep you, he'd lost enough already. Surely he deserved to love and be loved once more after all the suffering he'd endured for his life.
He took a deep breath, still deeply conflicted.

One of the biggest problems and red flags about the whole spider society was having kids be workers for them.
Now I’m not saying the spider society shouldn’t have contacted the younger spiders or even work with them! But the spider society should function as more of a support group and emergency backup type situation for the younger spiders.
There was no reason for Margo, someone who is implied to be like Miles’s age, someone who can’t even drive, to be running an integral part of the society and how they are keeping the multiverse intact. She not only ran it, but if it malfunctioned it was clearly her job and responsibility to fix. When the machine ‘breaks’ and functions while, as far as she’s aware, no one’s in it she’s panicking, even though there would be no real consequences if she just let it run. There was no reason for Gwen, a 16 yr old, to be running around the multiverse alone going on high stakes solo missions(and that’s not even getting into the whole homeless thing). We don’t know yet what Peni’s role is but we have to assume it’s similar in nature and responsibility. That is insane.
Pav is the only one who seems to have a healthy relationship with the society, because he’s not really in it! He doesn’t know the indoctrination canon events yet, we don’t see him going off on solo missions, he gets backup when he needs it and that seems to be it.
For the kids that do know the canon events theory(Margo, Peni, Gwen) I cannot even imagine what must be going through their heads. Who else from their worlds has to die. For Peni, is her last living relative, Uncle Ben, the next person for her to lose? If Gwen returns to her world how long will it take for her dad to die? What other traumatic events have Miguel’s theory dictated will happen to them next? What horrors do they know will happen to them and their loved ones that they aren’t allowed to prevent? Is Gwen destined to die young because she’s the only Gwen we see Alive? And Gwen and Hobie, Pav’s friends, do they know that Gayatri and her dad are both destined to die? Like the mental gymnastics these kids have to go through and the mental torment that goes with it.
And then on top of it, to threaten said teenagers, who you have working for you, with being kicked out and being isolated from the people that are like and understand them is really fucked up. Especially if the threatening is because they are acting like teenagers and not soldiers. If Gwen is sent home, not only is her life put in danger but so is her father’s and they all know it. That is some culty level gaslighting and even grooming. Margo and Peni both are implied to not have good home lives either. The more you think about it the worse it gets honestly, because what goes along with this is we never see any of the adult spiders say anything about this.
Miguel and Jess both saw Gwen’s father, a grown man, try to arrest his daughter with a gun pointed at her. They save her, Jess takes her under wing(and whether they meant to or not) effectively become her guardians. They monitor her with what could essentially be a baby monitor/tracking device. They can control where she can and cannot go. And while understandable to not give a teen access to the entire multiverse they were very much giving her the adult responsibilities of protecting it.
When she does screw up, because she is a child who wants to see her friend, Jessica very flippantly references Miguel sending her home, making me think this is not the first time they’ve had that conversation, which is so worrying. And then they eventually do. They knew exactly what situation they were sending her into and not only did the entire society watch Miguel do it with little protest but didn’t even mention it afterwards. Even if Gwen was a threat they had other options, rather than sending her home, where she could still be safe.
There’s also a lot to say about how Jessica, Peter B., and Miguel handled Miles that speaks more to this pattern of behavior but that’s another post.
In the comics the ‘Spider Society’ got away with this sort of stuff, even having an actual infant just chilling with the group, because the spiders were being hunted. They couldn’t go home or leave the safe space dimension because it wasn’t safe. In the movie that is very much not the case. WHY WERE TEENAGERS WORKING FOR THE SOCIETY!?

So I just wanted to give an update that chapter 21 is coming along slowly but surely. I'm struggling with a bit of writer's block, and also the pacing for the next chapter. It's either going to be one REALLY long chapter or two shorter chapters. We shall find out, but either way, you'll get it all pretty shortly.
For now, spite about something happening in the fandom has inspired me to write a 'Killer is trans' drabble (along with Moony's fantastic 'Skeletons are trans' post.)
So enjoy a silly drabble under the cut and fuck transphobes.
Most of the deep conversations you and Killer had were over meme origins, conversations about show plots, and videogame strategy. Not that you didn't enjoy these kinds of conversations, but at this point in your relationship you wondered if you were both supposed to be having those deeper, meaning-of-life types of conversations.
Cuddling on the couch one day you finally get to have one of those conversations. As Killer lays in your lap and you brush your nails gently over his cranial sutures you somehow end up down a very interesting, and enlightening train of thought.
"all skeletons are trans actually."
"I mean, aren't all skeletons basically the same guy?" you ask.
"well, yeah, i mean all the skeletons you've met are different variations of one guy, though there is also his brother and different variations of him as well, but beyond that skeletons, as a subspecies of monster, are all born genderless and transition to whichever gender they feel like as they grow."
You are beyond fascinated, and for once getting information about Killer and his various alternate forms across the multiverse so you nod along exhuberantly and motion for him to go on.
"i mean i guess you could say that about all monsters, though with skeletons it's a little more obvious because baby bones are just that - bones."
"So you woke up one day and decided 'boy'?" you ask.
"eh, kinda. i mean i always felt like a boy in some way, though i did go through a 'girl phase', but that felt more like trying it on before i settled. and gender is funny sometimes, even though i'm mostly happy where i am, sometimes i feel different."
"That sounds very similar to a lot of human experiences," you muse.
"i must admit i do look good in a dress," Killer adds smugly.
You still for a moment, suddenly picturing Killer in a red, sparkly dress. Definitely something Jessica Rabbit would wear. Maybe even with a pair of ecto-breasts to fill it out.
"spacing out over there bunny?" he interrupts your fantasizing with a knowing smirk, turning around in your lap to straddle your hips. "something on your mind?"
You feel a very nice pair of somethings pressing into your chest where Killer leans against you, and your face lights up. How is he always so good at reading your face?

John "Soap" McTavish(2009) x Reader x John "Soap" McTavish(2022)
Warnings: Mention of Modern Warfare 3 (2011), Some fluff, they/them used once other than that no pronouns are used.
You recall your relationship with your John while in the hospital.
Another entry For @glitterypirateduck Soap It Up challenge!
This was heavily inspired by the Multiverse AU by shotmrmiller. It's been on my mind for a while lol
Tumblr media
"Right, what the hell kind of name is 'Soap', eh? How'd a muppet like you pass selection?"
You heard Price state, looking up from cleaning your gun you saw the new guy who was set to join. Fresh faced and ready for battle, you wondered how long that would last. You watched as he passed the C.Q.B with a pretty average time, but he passed nonetheless. After that Price quickly briefed the team on the mission, infiltrating and assaulting a cargo ship in the Bering Strait. He dismissed us to get ready, deciding you wanted to try and get to know the new guy. You walked over to him and fell into step with him.
You remember it wasn’t hard to get him to open up, which was surprising, most of the guys here were not up for much conversion. After a while, you decided to ask the biggest question on your mind, you asked him about his hair.
“Why did you decide on a mohawk?” You heard him huff.
“Because it was cool…” He mumbled.
"I love ye, y'know that right?"
You could faintly hear Captain McTavish mumble those words under his breath but the sound of the helicopter made you wonder if you heard it at all. What affirmed that it was indeed said out loud was when he took his hand in yours, rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand in a soothing gesture. Who he was comforting, you weren't sure, but you had an inkling it was to ground himself.
You recall It was his first mission as captain and if he was nervous he sure as hell didn’t show it. But you knew him, he often sought some small physical contact as comfort when he was nervous.
It's funny how you remember these things.
You also remember his first mission as captain went off without a hitch, of course, there were hiccups but like he promised nothing happened to you. It was oddly sweet in its own way, he knew you could take care of yourself but he often fretted sometimes (even if he didn't entirely show it).
Another moment you recall with John McTavish was when you two were outside. He was smoking and you were just keeping him company. It was a nice evening, a bit cold but nothing you couldn't handle. You two were talking about anything and everything as you two normally do. Then the topic of living together came up.
"Y'know... I've been thinking after all this is over we need to... do couples things" he chuckled.
"Oh yeah? Like what? I thought fighting in battlefields was good date material," you joked.
"Ah, that's gettin' old... we could get our own place," he suggested.
"Get our own place? What are you suggesting?" You turned to look at him, he was already looking at you with a grin.
"Aye, I'm sayin' we should live together once this is all over and done with, I'm thinkin' out in the fields near a small town, just the two of us," he stubbed out his smoke before leaning against you. He wrapped an arm around your waist and brought you closer.
"Hm, that sounds wonderful... We could get a cat... maybe two so the other one wouldn't be lonely," you suggested, planting a kiss on his lips as you both thought about this fantasy. You'll never forget the way his cheeks turned a bit rosy after that.
Though before house buying the one important thing on John's 'Couples things' list was getting married. Of course, you both talked extensively about it, making sure it was something you both were on the same page on. The ceremony wasn't anything special, just you, John, and a few friends and family to celebrate at John's Parents' house. It was a sweet time, filled with talking and laughing (Ghost and Roach were both raiding the snacks John's mom made).
"Look at you, my little brother gettin' married! Never thought I see the day, thought you were married to the military life for a sec," John's sister teasingly bumped his shoulder. Though she was teasing, she seemed pretty proud and happy for him.
"Aye, never thought I get so lucky, knew I wanted to marry them 6 months in but didn't want to scare them," John chuckled while wrapping an arm around your waist. You just rolled your eyes and nudged his rib, and he responded by pinching your hip before kissing your cheek.
But things didn't turn out like you both planned. Luck had to run out someday.
'I won't let anything happen to you,' rings in your head, he never failed to mention it before missions you both went on.
Is that why you were here?
You weren't sure how to explain it. One moment you were with John and Yuri, in that building, something went off and you woke up with someone looming over you.. before it all went black again.
You felt like you were in a different body, and you say that loosely since it still felt like you but a bit younger, less tense. You weakly opened your eyes, the blaring lights of the hospital flooding your vision. You groaned, wincing away for a moment before it felt safe to look again. The bed you were lying on was much softer than the ones back on base.
"Ah, you're awake," you saw a nurse to your left side checking your vitals, she gave you a reassuring smile.
"You were out for a while, almost two months! Had some bloke worried sick about you... Johnny, I think his name was," she started explaining. You never really heard people refer to John as Johnny but whatever at least you knew he was alive.
“Is he okay?” You rushed to ask.
“Yes he’s fine, was discharged a while ago, you were the one to take the most of the damage,” She paused to resume her work.
“Actually he should be coming back soon, doesn’t leave your side unless he needs the restroom, you definitely have a good one,” She chuckled.
Oh, thank god he was okay.
The nurse left you to rest after and you started mulling over what happened.
An explosion happened, you were falling alongside Yuri when it happened. But you couldn't remember much else.
You began to feel uneasy, like you lost a big part of yourself and yet you couldn't explain why. Which was weird considering the nurse just confirmed he was, in fact, relatively okay. While you were mulling it over some more you didn't hear the door opening and the sound of hurried footsteps rushing over to your bed.
"Yer awake!"
You whipped your head up to see your husband, so grateful he was okay. You were almost ready to jump on him but you froze when your eyes finally landed on him. What looked like John, though he was a mildly younger version of him. He was a bit shorter than your John as well, along with sounding vastly different.
That was definitely not your John.
He looked worried and relieved at you. Placing a hand on yours but also trying not to hover around you, you noticed a tattoo on his right arm, John didn’t have an arm tattoo. He decided to just sit down on the chair that was pushed near your hospital bed. Not knowing what to do you took your hand out of his and placed it on your stomach.
That’s when you noticed your simple wedding band was gone.
Replaced with one that had a pearl and a few diamonds.
Whose ring was this?
You were confused and dare you say scared. Scared more than you ever have been in your life and that's saying a lot considering your line of work. But where exactly were you?
"Yer looking at me like ye don't know me, Bonnie," the man broke the silence.
But you didn't know him, you assumed this was the bloke the nurse mentioned.
Johnny.
Wearing the face of your John.
Just what exactly happened?

HEARTLESS — CH2
Miguel O'hara x Reader
I think I'll be posting more on Wattpad instead of Tumblr since using this platform is kinda complicated for me,,, just search up Heartless by hash1ori on Wattpad ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Gwen and Hobie were taking Miles around Babylon Towers for a tour and arrived at the Dormitories. You came out of your room, overhearing their chatter and laughter filling the empty hallway.
“Another spider variant?” Miles tilted his head,, then noticed you had no watch,
“Nah mate she isn't a spider person,,,” Hobie waved at you, you smiled back at him.
“Miles this is Dr. L/n, she's from this Earth and the one who handles the infirmary.”
“Dr. L/n, I'm sure you know Miles.”
You offered your hand after Gwen's small introduction and he returned the gesture by shaking it,,
“I heard a lot about you from Peter, Miles.”
“You know Peter??” you nod, “We're good friends.”
The three invited you to walk with them and you happily agreed. You were planning to go to the lab but it doesn't hurt to get some time to take a little detour.
Miles kept asking questions, he was so curious about this whole secret union.
“So you've been here for a long time?”
“I went to school with Miguel, I've been here since the beginning of this guild.”
“What...?? So he isn't that old?”
You laughed,, “Surprisingly, we're the same age." then shrugged jokingly.
“Did Miguel ever have a like relationship,” you paused, not expecting that kind of question.
“Who would ever date Miguel?” Gwen scoffed then crossed her arms, the others started to think about it and subtly agreed.
Miles and Gwen reminded you of each other,, once upon a time. It made you smile, Hobie beside you, noticing your gaze softened so much.
On the top floor, Miguel and Peter were talking.
"I've hurt her so much before, I've been a jerk but I have been trying to make it up for the mistakes I did when we were young.”
He usually ranted his problems to Peter, who listened carefully. Usually the topic of their conversations was you, maybe that's why you've been feeling the sniffles lately.
“When I had Gabriella,, I didn't think anything mattered anymore and I pushed her away. It was all a mistake,, and I don't know how to fix this.”
Miguel sighed deeply, pushing his brown locks back with his hands. He sat on his office chair, his foot tapping on the floor. Then when the weight of the multiverse was placed on him, you just stood there. Watching it all play out.
“Maybe cause you've been a workaholic, plus cheater your whole life that you don't really deserve her...” Peter sighed, then realizes what he said and started to panic as Miguel covered his face in defeats.
“What am I ever going to do?”
“It worked out for me and MJ,” he rests his hand on Miguel's shoulder, giving a reassuring smile, “Im sure it'll work out for you too.”
Infirmary, Babylon Towers.
Your POV
Maybe I would have some spiders come and go after a little bruise or light concussion and get a well deserved rest after the grand chase, or at least that's what I thought,, but before my break, Miguel came into the infirmary.
He said he needed some Rapture. But usually,, he was the one who injected it himself.
Even if something off was going on, I told him to sit and started to prepare. The nano tech on his suit disappeared and made space enough for the needle to enter. I put on my gloves and started to infuse the serum. He winced when I took it out and his eyes started to tighten. I started to check him, to see if anything was wrong.
So nothing was up with him him physically, just mentally cause I noticed
that he looked like he wanted to say something,,
It became more obvious that he did since felt his eyes on me while cleaning and sanitizing, at this point it felt like it was burning my back.
“Do you want a lollipop or what?” we both laughed,, I crossed my arms and turned to face him, “What's wrong, Miggy? You're being strange today.”
“You noticed?”
He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me close,
“Oh please,,, I've known you for most of my life.”
I tried to stay as good friends with him, and we did do some stuff that was kind of a stress relief. It benefited us. Maybe that's why we were friends with benefits.
“Do you ever just wonder if we weren't here?”
I raised an eyebrow at his question,, “If you didn't create this,,?” I raised my arms to try and describe the whole big thing that's going on,, he laughed. God his laugh was so hot.
“Like, if I never tried to quit Alchemax and we stayed together.”
My lips pressed together, my face became filled with false confusion. I knew what he was trying to say,, but so suddenly?
I gulped and push him away, making there be distance between us. I hugged myself, feeling overwhelmed.
“No matter how much you reject me, I always find myself seeking you.”
Miguel stood up, explaining how much he yearned for me like it was some thesis defense,,
“I need you like how I need air to breath,,,”
He cupped my face,, I shook my head, the hope in his eyes started to drain.
“You didn't think that when you cheated on me,,” I looked up at him and said sadly, brushing him away.
He stood there, like a hopeless child that got lost. My face became serious. What did he want? Encouragement like some dog one last time? If I give him the same attention I did when I came back then I'd be wrapped around his hold once again,, and I promised myself to never do that.
But why do I feel little hope that he could do something (babe), say something (babe), risk it all and not lose me. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, haunted by those “What ifs”. Like what if we worked out?
Miguel left after I scanned his body. Everything was stable and he left. Our conversation was short lived after the awkward confession he made, he was so corny.
I looked around the infirmary,, it was quiet, no one was there, and I decided to go to the canteen. Thinking that we were lucky that it wasn't a busy day. Unbeknownst to us,, someone was resting on one of the beds, covered by the curtains.

Peter B. Parker x Blackcat!reader
description - Peter B. Parker didn't end up at MJ's house that night. Instead he found his way into the arms of the woman he never thought he could have until the multiverse showed him differently.
Or
Miles shows up to the spider society and finds Peter in the arms of someone who is definitely not MJ
warnings - babies, sexual innuendo, brief angst, SPOILERS for across the spiderverse, Miguel being Miguel.
word count - 1.7k
authors note - I have found a new character to write about! I mean I loved Peter B in Into the Spiderverse but then I recently watched Across the Spiderverse and something about seeing him with Mayday just ignited that love again. Also hears to me finding another cartoon baby to obsess over!

I watched from the rafters. Perched so precise. Peter had promised he wouldn’t take Mayday to work anymore, it wasn’t a safe environment for a child. And since he hadn’t caught me with her at the spider society yet, I still had the moral high ground.
“Don’t be too hard on the kid, Miguel. He had a terrible teacher.” Peter swung in and was wearing…oh god. He’d stolen my robe, again. But I couldn’t be too hard on him, he did look so sexy in it. Just something about seeing him so domestic that really got me going.
Peter and Miles hugged each other, having not seen one another in months. They continually talked over the other, having so much to say, before Miles took note of the baby carrier Peter wore so stylishly. His suspicions were confirmed when Mayday swung into the scene, giggling so beautifully.
“You have a baby?”
“I have a baby!”
“Don’t forget to keep your little day pass on honey.” He then spotted the one Miles sported. “You have one too? I didn’t know they made them for adults?”
I watched her in awe until she latched onto the wall and began to crawl up to where she saw me, babbling ‘mama, mama’. Peter swung after her, moaning about how he shouldn’t have made her that web shooter. We thought it was a good idea at the time!
He put her back in the carrier. “I shouldn’t have made her that, that was an actual parenting mistake.” But because he forgot he was upside down; our little angel fell right out. I giggled to myself just watching the goofball, I got to call my husband.
I squirmed up further into the dark, not wanting Peter to see me just yet. What? I’m a sucker for a dramatic entrance.
“You guys want to see pictures!” That was when I zoned out. I mean I loved Mayday so much and I took a lot of pictures, but my definition of a lot cowered in the face of Peter’s amount of photos. “Oh my god, Miguel’s gonna die!” He swung back over to the stoic fang man, as I liked to call him.
“Miguel, look at this one.”
“I’m trying to hold a serious, adult conversation.” Yet the sight of Mayday crawling all over him whilst babbling nonsense, was a nice juxtaposition to his stern demeanour.
“You’re the only spiderman who isn’t funny, we’re supposed to be funny.” He’s not wrong there, well, at least my spiderman is funny!
“The fate of the multiverse—”
“You always lose me with that. You say the fate of the multiverse and my brain dies.” Miguel handed Mayday back to Peter after she had unceremoniously fallen into his arms whilst Peter was talking.
“You smell that? Mayday took a crap.” Peter swung back to Miles, Gwen and Hobie and made a makeshift changing table out of web.
“So did MJ take you back or?” Miles questioned.
“Well-not exac—” He then smelt Mayday’s diaper. “Yep, she’s a Parker. That’s what happens when a Parker eats an avocado.”
“And yet I still married one.” I attached one of my hooks and allowed myself to be lowered down in front of Miguel’s pretentious staircase.
“Wow.” All 3 teens exclaimed at the same time. I strutted forward clad in my costume. God, it had been a long time since I’d had it on, but it felt so good. It made me feel strong and powerful. Even the ice blonde wig of curls, (that always appeared every time I put on the black cat suit for some reason), fell down my back and flicked with each step. My heeled boots clicked as I walked. Some people *cough Miguel cough* may think they’re impractical for fighting but I guess you just have to be an amazing fighter to pull them off.
“Miles meet my wife, y/n Parker. Or. The Black Cat.”
“Hobie, Gwen, good to see you again. Miles, it’s so great to meet you! Peter talks about you constantly.” I embraced him tightly.
I jumped over to Hobie and spider punk lifted me up into his arms.
“How’s my favourite vigilante!”
“I’m doing good how are you.”
“Still taking a crap on the establishment.”
“I’d like to help you.”
“I will take you up on that.” And he slipped a bunch on junk into my pocket. I didn’t understand but when it came to Hobie, I knew I eventually would.
“I don’t think ‘constantly’ is the most accurate word –“ Peter interrupted. He never liked seeing me with Hobie. He made him insecure, but I would assure him he was cool in his own way.
“Did you or did you not say to me last night ‘I miss Miles so much more with each passing day.’”
“I wouldn’t say in those words—”
“No. those were you’re exact words.” I had walked over to him when I began speaking.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
He brought me into him in a bruising kiss.
“I thought you weren’t working today?” As he spoke, Mayday recognised my presence and began to whine loudly for me to pick her up. Which I did happily.
“Well, I woke up and my baby wasn’t in her crib? How weird?” I bounced Mayday up and down in my arms and she shrieked excitedly with each new movement.
“Wait, you’re not a spider-person?” Miles suddenly questioned.
“God no! I couldn’t think of anything wo—” I trailed off when I looked around at the disapproving faces.
“I mean no, I’m a black cat. We’re in every spider’s universe in some respect. In everyone we’re in love with Peter Parker. He only loves us back in a few.” I looked back to find my husband already gazing back at me. Both of us might as well have had little hearts in our eyes.
I unleashed the claws from my gloves. “See, no web. Just claws.” Mayday clapped when I did that. “You like that baby? You like mummy’s powers!” I threw a hook with a line attached to it onto Miguel’s consoles. “But I did have to get these to keep up with you people and your webs.” I swung on the line and dropped gracefully, close to Miguel, just to annoy him.
“Yeah, but those claws are no joke one time we were in the middle of—” “Peter!” I scolded him. Peter then whispered to Miles “I ended up having to get stitches down my back.” Miles grimaced when he realised the context. Miles then continued his previous thought.
“I meant if you’re not a spider-person how did you get a pass? You’re not even a spider and you got a pass before me!”
“I felt with her skills and expertise she would be—”
“Don’t lie Miguel. I stole the bracelet off of you and you can’t get it back from me.”
“It was my choice to let you keep it.” I waited a beat before gesturing to Miles that it really wasn’t.

Miguel was explaining canon events to Miles and was showing all the spider-people the most horrific moments from their lives. When the Uncle Ben scene was shown I cradled my husband’s head in my neck to shield him from the other’s eyes. Mayday didn’t understand what was going on but had fallen silent when she had felt the sadness in her father’s body.
I zoned out of Miguel and Miles’ argument. I knew their plan and I knew about Miles. He didn’t deserve this, any of this. He was a good kid; I knew this because Peter told me he was good and I believe him. I focused only on my husband and my daughter. My daughter more so, so she didn’t have to be exposed to the fight that I felt was about to break out.
I bounced Mayday up and down and cooed to her as Peter explained to Miles that if Uncle Ben hadn’t died, many of them would’ve never become who they were meant to be and the lives they had saved would be gone.
Miles began to get more agitated when he realised, they were all asking him to let his father die. I scoffed to myself. They really expected this to work. It was hardly a sound argument.
“You can’t ask me not to save my father.”
“I’m not asking.” Suddenly, Miguel had trapped Miles. Woah. This was too far.
“Miguel that’s not funny! Let him go right now.” I held Mayday into my chest to shield her from her mummy’s harsh words.
“You don’t scare me.”
“I think we both know I do.” He turned away from me. I knew it.
Miles was panicking in the box as the audience around him screamed and argued. I was still holding Mayday as Peter had stern words with Miguel. Hobie winked at me and gestured me to come over. I saw what he was looking at, which were the little sparks coming from Miles’ fingertips. I showed Miles what he was doing wrong and laid my palm flat in front of me, as the other held Mayday’s bum up. Miles righted his hands and the electricity bubbled up. I smirked.
The cage erupted around him. The spider-people began to organise under Miguel’s command to seize Miles. A portal opened up behind Hobie.
“For the record. I quit.” He sauntered in backwards. That was my queue.
“Well, I gotta head.”
“You’re going?” Peter questioned.
“Yeah.”
“So, you just came to annoy Miguel and show Miles how to escape?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“God. I love you so much!” He kissed me hard. I handed Mayday back to her Daddy and she happily complied.
“Get a picture of her first chase?”
“You got it.” He pulled down her knitted spiderman beanie and took off. I opened up another portal.
“DO YOU WANT CHICKEN OR FISH TONIGHT?”
“CHICKEN PLEASE, HONEY!” My husband shouted back as he swung off with my baby in his baby carrier ready to save a 15-year-old spider-kid from a million other spider-people. Because that’s a totally normal sentence to say.

Parallels: Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Miguel O'Hara x Spider!FemReader
No use of y/n
Rating: Explicit (Minors DNI!!!)
Word Count: 1400
Summary:Miguel was consuming your every thought and it's becoming an issue. You wonder if he's having the same problem.
Warnings: Smut- Male (Shower) masturbation, Sexual frustration, Pinning, tension, Angsy as hell, learn a little more about reader's life, J. Jonah Jameson is in every universe Notes: I just realized I never said that the 'shared spider-sense' theme of this fic is entirely inspired by the relationship between Peter Parker and Cindy Moon, or more commonly known as Silk. They were both bitten by the same spider and share a spider sense, making them drawn to each other and ALSO able to track the other through the multi-verse. Silk is a an awesome spider character. 10/10 recommend checking out her comics (But I say that about every comic) I'm not sure Miguel and readers connection will be exaaaactly the same since they literally couldn't have been bitten by the same spider, but yeah. This is a totally cannon thing spider people can do 😅

Chapter 3
On My Mind
The restaurant was busier than you’d like, but really everywhere in this city was. Busier just meant louder, and louder meant earplugs for you. After having advanced hearing for nearly a decade you’d gotten used to it by now. You didn’t want to spend all night asking people to repeat themselves because you could over-hear everything that was happening in the restaurant. Right now you just wanted to be with your friends— unfortunately, your mind kept drifting elsewhere.
Since you returned to your dimension 3 days ago, Miguel has consumed your every waking thought. Your daily hero life was suffering for it. You lost 2 robbers last night and missed a car chase this morning because you were too stuck in your own head. You were never one to get distracted on the job— and by a guy no less.
I should have stayed in the training room. I should have stayed longer and maybe we could have…
You’re not entirely sure what would have happened, honestly. This was uncharted territory. Some undefined connection only between the two of you? An innate sensation that drove you to horny madness. It sounded like a bad comic book plot. You’d probably had weirder things happen in your nearly 10-year-long spider career but this was by far the most frustrating.
Just the thought of him invaded your every sense. The deep rumble of his voice. His distinctive, rich smell— Like red wine. The taste he left in your mouth.
You wanted him. You wanted him so badly, and you hated how much you wanted him. You didn’t even know anything about him.
Fuck Miguel O’Hara and whatever the fuck he was doing to you.
But Miguel was a Spider-Woman problem.
Tonight you didn’t want to be Spider-Woman. You wanted to forget your interdimensional side gig and the broody, gigantic man that was driving you insane. Tonight you just wanted to be a good friend— and you were failing miserably at that too.
Your best friend Jack wrangled his boyfriend, Ash, and your college friend Sue to come out for drinks and your mind couldn’t be further away.
“Hey, space cadet!” Jack snaps his fingers directly in front of your face. You’d been staring at the same potted plant across the room for probably 5 minutes now. You crash back to maddening reality.
“Sorry, what?” you reenter whatever the conversation was now with a pitiful smile.
“Ash asked what’s new at the paper,” Jack repeats the question you never heard. He gives you a worried look. Jack knew about your double life. He’d known you for so long now, you couldn’t hide anything from him. He'd catch it whenever something was slightly amiss before you could even articulate a single word— thus why he lined up this friend's night in the first place. You’d been reclusive since you’d joined the multiverse.
“Oh, at the Bugle?” You take a generous swig of your cocktail, “Jameson’s still behind on the times, I think. Keeps trying to push papers instead of giving our digital department more funding. I’m still only making stuff for print. Like, do you even remember the last time you even read from a newspaper?”
“Honestly, I don’t think I ever have.” Ash snorts.
“Maybe in high school,” Sue taps her chin, “And even then it was for like an assignment.”
“People still need paper-mache supplies!” Jack interjects.
“Hey!” you playfully shove him, “That’s my entire industry you’re shitting on, sir!”
“Oh, so you’re defending the infamous J. Jonah Jameson now?”
“I’m but a lowly graphic designer,” you clarify, “The only thing he wants me to do with his precious paper is not look too much like The Times .”
You’d landed your job at The Daily Bugle in college. An internship turned full-time staff position. You’d gotten Jack some freelance work there on the side. He was seemingly the only photographer that could get a halfway decent picture of the mysterious Spider-Woman. He always gave you a small cut of whatever Jamason was willing to shell out. You didn’t know how to work a camera for crap, but you knew how to pose for a picture.
The evening rolls on with a pleasant demeanor. It was nice to be talking to non-spider people. To listen to the casual ramblings of your friend's completely ordinary lives. That new bitch at work or their mother calling one too many times a day. You envied them, honestly. It’s been so long since you could just simply live . This night out was a small taste of what you’d been missing. Connection.
And, of course, it gets ruined.
The nearby wail of sirens penetrates through your foam earplugs. They were maybe 3 blocks away. Once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. All conversations fall dead in your ears, your focus now entirely on the possible imminent danger to your city. The sirens are getting further away now.
A vibration from your phone in your pocket catches your attention. You check it under the table. A text from Jack.
‘Sidejob thing?’
He always texted you in code about Spider-Woman business. He must have seen your face go placid, even though he can’t hear the distant sirens. You give him a faint nod across the table and he glances to the door— His silent message loud and clear.
What are you waiting for? Go.
You know Jack did his best to understand, even if he never truly could. You had a duty. It wasn’t just a job, but who you were. You could never just stand idly by.
You quickly make an excuse about forgetting a deadline and shimmy out of the booth, leaving a few bucks for your meal. So much for no Spider-Woman tonight.
____
Fuck you. Get out of my head.
Fuck you. Get out of my head.
It had become his mantra for the last few days— of course, it didn’t help anything, but cursing you gave him some minor vindication.
He found himself in the shower 20 minutes longer than usual, attempting to give himself some kind of relief. The thought of you waiting on your knees for him clawed at his mind. He stroked his painfully hard cock to the image, now forever burned into his retinas.
He never got distracted. It wasn’t in his nature. He prided himself on being the best leader he possibly could be. Attentive, knowledgeable, a team player— and for the most part, he was. Now you had come and thrown a wrench into all of that.
He should have known from the first time he saw you this would be a problem. It caught him completely off guard, but how could he have been prepared for… whatever this was? He was in the midst of building an empire, and there you were, as casual as ever— and so clearly just as confused as he was. A spider-sense suddenly manifesting? Ridiculous.
As soon as you locked eyes, he knew this was all because of you.
God, you were beautiful.
There had been few times he let his instincts take hold of him. He’d made himself into an apex predator in search of his spider abilities— he had to hold himself to a different standard than the rest of you. He was dangerous, and whatever this connection is, was dangerous in turn.
He couldn’t control it, not yet anyway. And seemingly, you couldn’t either. You were both prey to your most primal desires and irresistibly drawn to the other to satisfy them.
He couldn’t escape your assault on all of his senses. He was fixated on you in every way imaginable. Your smell, your voice, your looks— your taste.
He cums to the memory of your soft thighs squeezing his head. He heaves shaky breath after shaky breath, trying to gather his composure. It was hollow, fleeting relief. He can’t help but think you could have made it better— He knows you’d have made it better. He catches a glimpse of his reflection in the foggy glass and is immediately disgusted with himself.
He’d never been this way before. You were part of his team, a fellow hero that decided to join his league. He was your boss, for lack of a better term. This couldn’t go on. At least not the way it was currently.
He needed answers.
He was a scientist. It was time to do some research.

Stay
something something, you get injured, something something, Miguel’s reaction.
I honestly didn’t know where to go w this I just knew I wanted it to go somewhere, not proofread
Tumblr media
It wasn’t easy, god this was difficult. Miguel couldn’t take his eyes off you, the way you moved fluidly, a river of your own creation. So sure in your movement, so unique in your existence.
Miguel couldn’t help it if his gaze lingered for one, two then three seconds too long. Couldn’t help if when the two of you exchanged glances he wanted nothing more than to dive into your eyes, submerged in a gaze that reflected how deeply he yearned to touch you.
But Miguel was afraid.
He was far more afraid than he’d ever prove capable of admitting, a man scorn by the flame of grief, fanning the embers that threatened to spread.
Couldn’t his broken mind repair itself so he could indulge in your presence?
Perhaps it was too much to ask.
But the multiverse asked too much of him, simultaneously. Asked too much as it placed an incarnate of perfection before his very eyes, a small piece of heaven practically in the palm of his hand, but a man as corrupted as Miguel couldn’t dare touch you. He didn’t want to condemn you to the depths of whatever lied within this sphere of rock and ash.
But who did Miguel think he was fooling? Try as he might, there was no force in this universe that could cease his rampant mind, a man on edge. To keep from reaching out to you exercised a great deal of strength, Miguel practically groveling in your presence.
Thank goodness nobody had taken notice.
Right?
“Miguel can be… interesting.” You told the group of spiders at your table — Pavitr, Hobie, Gwen and Peter B. “But I don’t think he treats me any differently than anyone else.”
The collective groans left you taken aback, munching on your collection of a meal as you gave them a moment to speak their peace.
“I’ve never seen him yell at you, never! You don’t find that a bit odd?” Pavitr was by far the most passionate about the subject, vocal without hesitance. A young boy in the midst of his own love wanting nothing more than to see those he cared for engrossed in adoration as palpable as his own.
But perhaps it would be best if you reconsidered who you attracted, for his mental health.
Just so he could sleep at night.
“Maybe I dont screw up as often as you guys do.” You shrugged your shoulders, not buying anything they had to say. Miguel didn’t like you, he was your boss, a man battling inner demons. He didn’t have time for affections, let alone those feelings stemming from a member who’d arrived only a short time prior to Gwen.
“Pav has a point,” Gwen spoke up, all eyes on her. “He seems… less angry whenever you’re around.”
Through a sip of your beverage you let out a spur of sarcasm. “Wow, revolutionary.”
“It is a bit odd the only missions you ever go on are with him, yeah? Like the bossman wants to protect his little secret.”
The call of your name, Lyla appearing at your shoulder, startling you from the conversation.
“What’s up, Lyla?”
“Miguel’s looking for you in his office — says he needs you for a mission.”
The table erupted into a cacophony of ooo’s, eyebrows wiggling as smirks graced their mischievous faces. “Shut it,” Your groaned through clenched teeth. “You’re forgetting whose AI this is.”
“Oh, she knows all about your little crush on Miguel, mate.” Hobie always proved to be the blunt one, an anarchist with a mission for mischief. “What we’re tryna figure out is if the man upstairs fancies you.”
“He’s not… Hobie, do you know what—“
The call of your name once more, this time from a voice that proved even more familiar, bodies growing stiff as you opened the communication channel. “I had Lyla call you five minutes ago. We have to get going.”
Your response fell from your lips without missing a beat. “Right, on it.”
“Get some!” Hobie bellowed, your jaw going slack as you made a dangerous bout of eye contact, glare like daggers, Hobie not one to retreat from a challenge.
“Get what?” Miguel was confused on the line, and though you couldn’t see his face you knew his palms fell to his hips. “What are you getting?”
“Hobie was asking Peter B. to grab him more empanadas.” The lie slipped from your tongue as though it was awaiting the moment it would escape. “Bring me some too, won’t you, Peter?”
The man mumbled a string of words, obviously dazed, yet rising from his seat nonetheless. “I’ll be there in a sec.” You told Miguel, Hobie chiming in with a ‘Damn straight.’ just before you could close off the channel.
Was it too late to change professions?
Tumblr media
You strolled into Miguel’s lair with hesitant movement, the scene previous playing through your mind like a twisted nightmare, one you feared to recall was memory. “You wanted to see me?"
Of course Miguel wanted to see you, his guiltiest of pleasures. It would be a lie to say he hadn't meticulously chosen you for this mission, a low-stakes anomaly that could've been bested by even the most juvenile of Spider-People.
An opportunity to hear your voice, to watch as the sunlight bounced against your skin, shimmering as though gilded by the heavens.
"I thought you were getting an empanada?" His eyes had merely flickered to you, your body and the way you seemed to lean away, your gaze that refused to meet his.
Shit.
"I ate it on the way here."
"I wouldn't do that, if I were you." Miguel was fiddling with the screens manifested before him, switching between useless tabs, needing to do something with his hands.
You furrowed your brows. "Why not?"
"Wouldn't want you choking."
Your lips curled into a smile then, a genuine expression hidden beneath your mask, suddenly grateful you'd opted to wear in on the way here. It was such a simple string of words, hardly a declaration of love, but within his extension there was concern, affection.
"We should get going." After all, you had things to tend to in your own dimension, never a dull moment. "Wouldn't wanna leave my universe hanging."
Your universe.
Miguel loathed to think you were from another dimension, a domain apart from his embrace. If he had it his way, and it seemed the cards were never in his favor, Miguel would keep you alongside him here for eternity.
But you had duties, responsibilities.
Relationships.
His heart clenched at the thought, the prospect that someone was waiting for you upon your return, someone that wasn't him.
But a man could dream.
In life there was love, so many infinite forms there was only a matter of time before Miguel could call you his. And perhaps if it wasn't in this lifetime it would be the next. Just as he wasn't meant to be a father in this life, perhaps he wasn't destined for affection, either.
Wordlessly, Miguel opened the portal, stepping into the multicolored spiral, not waiting for you to accompany him.
After all, he knew you'd be there without fail.
Upon your emergence Miguel already had Lyla surveying the area for debris, any clue towards discovering the presence of the entity. "Oh!" Lyla had perked up from her crouched position, analyzing a coat she'd been eyeing for quite some time. "They're just up ahead."
Miguel looked to you from over his shoulder, eyes behind his mask making you feel impossibly small. "Ready?"
"Always."
-------------------
Too much to handle, far too much to handle.
The only words that penetrated your mind as a Chameleon variant dragged you through concrete, the material of your suit having ripping along your shoulder, trailing down to your forearm.
There had proven to be multiple anomalies, something Miguel hadn't accounted for, the man rushing off to bring yet another Vulture variation to their knees, leaving you stuck with a knock-off Chameleon.
In an attempt to break free you repositioned yourself onto your back, pain spreading far quicker than previously, pushing your legs up against the reptile's chest and repelling him as far as your legs could throw him.
But the variant was relentless, baring his teeth as he charged towards you without a second thought, entirely unhinged. In one fell swoop he had you thrown up against the side of a building, mind abuzz with static as you fell onto your knees, an imprint of your body immortalized within the concrete structure.
Blood trickled down your nose, chapped lips stained a cruel crimson. You peeled your mask from your face in an effort to get some semblance of air, breaths heaving, a piercing pain erupting throughout your chest.
Still, you rose to your feet, fists held out in front of you.
"You Spider-people are so annoying," Chameleon spoke in a voice like pins and needles. "Always getting back up no matter how hard I knock you down."
You laughed, a chuckle that bubbled in your stomach despite the pain. "That's kinda part of your job description."
Chameleon clicked his tongue. "And your death is a requirement for mine."
"Well now you're just lying."
Chameleon didn't entertain your attempt at humor for a second, lunging towards you, body knocking into a streetlamp, the post denting upon impact.
This variant really had a proclivity for tossing people. Maybe if villainy didn't work out he could pursue a career in the major leagues.
And while the image was entertaining, a humanoid reptile dominating home plate, you weren't sure how much longer you could remain conscious. Your vision was a blur, multicolored apparitions bubbling across your peripheral, invading clarity. It was only a matter of time before your body conceded, giving into the aches and pains, the sleep beckoning your name.
No, wait. Someone was literally calling your name.
The seas of blur parted for just a moment, Miguel rushing towards you as though a valiant knight in his blue-red armor. In one fell swoop he had Chameleon on his knees, the variant powerless against his strength. He was sent to the holding facility, he flash of light indicating you'd won.
Well, Miguel had won, but it was your victory all the same.
In a flash your body went limp, Miguel there to hold you close, head held within the palm of his hand, yearning for you to stay with him.
"Hey," Miguel was speaking in whispers, heartbeat rampant as he felt your limp form against him. "We can go back now, we won."
Your hand pressed up against his chest, just barely missing his cheek. "I'm fine right here."
Miguel had never seen you like this, injured and entirely vulnerable. He hated it, despised it, prayed to whoever could hear him that he could take your pain away, shoulder it for himself.
"No," Miguel shook his head profusely, tears brimming in his eyes, but you couldn’t see them through vision that speckled like constellations. "We're taking you back to HQ, taking you—"
Miguel watched as you pressed your cheek to his shoulder, the only display of affection your aching bones could manage. "Let’s stay here, Miguel."
He’d stay with you for eternity if it meant Miguel could have you, swimming through the river styx until all he knew was your pain, damming himself for just the opportunity to see you once more.
Miguel looked into your eyes, truly looked into them, his hands pressed against your shoulders, calling your name through your delirium. In orbs with a painfully distant gaze he could see himself, the way his face contorted into an expression of refusal — Miguel couldn’t lose you, would rather succumb to darkness that have to give up something he held close.
“I’m here,” Miguel whispered your name, tears like raindrops pattering against your skin. “I’ll always be here.”
But if Miguel made such a promise, an oath that chained his heart, he needed you to make it too. “But you have to stay with me, okay?”
You weren’t sure how long you’d been down, how long you fought your mind to obey you, ignore the pain coursing across your skin, infecting your soul. But it was Miguel who brought you back, Miguel who danced his lips across the top of your head. “I need you.”
And you needed him too, more than he could ever know.
You snapped back quicker than you’d believed possible, mind buzzing with emotion, your senses enveloped by everything Miguel.
A gaze of flame that burned with your image, reflected in flecks of gold, an ember that trickled into a wildifre at just the mere mention of your name — a gaze so intense if you looked into his eyes for too long you might burn, erupt into a pillar of light as oblivion reached to interlace your fingertips in eternity.
And despite the intensity, the heat radiating off of him, there was nothing you yearned for more than you yearned to be with him, to exist within him. You’d accept nihility with open arms if it only meant a second of his touch.
“You’re here,” You smiled through the pain, entirely believing you’d been hallucinating Miguel’s presence until this very moment.
“You needed me.”
His words were instantaneous, missing not a single beat. He held you closer than he’d ever been capable before, a climax to this tension that festered in the pits of his stomach.
“Thank you,” You whispered, arms wrapping around his shoulders, enveloping him as closely as you proved capable. “I love you.” The words slipping from your lips without a second thought.
You could feel how tense Miguel grew, entirely rigid. And though the words tickled his throat, a pain like nothing before, Miguel couldn’t help the yearning of his heart. “I love you too.”
There was something about those three words that left you in a state of delirium, body yearning for everything that encompassed Miguel, entirely incapable of alternate thought.
“Miguel,” You spoke, limbs still sore, entirely conscious you couldn’t move on your own. “Can we go?”
The man chuckled, hand stroking down your cheek, tilting your head so your gaze would be entirely on him. Slowly, as though you might shatter, Miguel drew closer.
"Where should I take you?" Miguel mumbled against your lips, still concious of the injuries slowly healing in their own time.
"Home."
And with a smile, one that burned his cheeks, Miguel took you back to Nueva York.

The good news is that Loki has been able to find some familiar faces at the Time Variance Authority — and they recognize him, too! The bad news? He can’t stay in one place for very long because his entire body is constantly being sucked through time and space across The Multiverse due to a pretty painful-looking phenomenon called “Time Slipping.” Didn’t think it could happen in the walls of the TVA? Well, think again, because it’s happening to Loki.
The second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki kicks off with the God of Mischief trying to get a grip, literally, on the timeline as he struggles to stay in one place long enough to have an actual conversation with Mobius. Unfortunately, because Loki has been thrust across The Multiverse timelines repeatedly, he keeps popping in and out of places, both past, present, and future as he races to not only steady himself but also keep the TVA from imploding from an overloading Temporal Loom, too. Just another day at the office, huh?
“Loki is having a problem which is that he’s in space, but he’s not rooted in time. He’s essentially glitching and being involuntarily molecularly disassembled between different points,” Returning star Tom Hiddleston explains. “It’s incredibly disorienting because he doesn’t know where he is or which time he’s in and it becomes like a mystery or a riddle that he’s got to solve. Why is this happening to me?”
Essentially, as Hiddleston jokes, Loki’s “had a really, really bad day and the day is getting worse.”
Though it looks scary on-screen, don’t worry, Hiddleston isn’t really getting torn apart molecule by molecule. As he explains, “This is where I’m embarrassed to say that in my limited carpet bag of physical abilities, I can’t in fact Time Slip.” However, the actor did commit to making Time Slipping look as painful as possible for the camera, constantly contorting his body to create uncomfortable situations, at one point considering using actual ropes and cables on wires to move his body in different ways.
“Tom is one of the most, if not the most, dedicated performer I've ever seen” Executive Producer Kevin Wright explains. “It wasn't that it wasn't painful in the script. We knew what, functionally, it was doing in the story. As everybody starts to get in the room, you have to start having those conversations of what is this? How do we see it on screen? What does it become? It kind of came about just through Tom's process.”
Hiddleston got maybe a little too into the process of Time Slipping. “I’ll do different variations of being spun into or spun out or ripped away from or pulled into reality.” He continues. “I’ve found that trying to put my own body under tension is strange to do. Your body doesn’t want to be under stress, it wants to be comfortable but that feeling of as if you’re being twisted out of alignment like a piece of elastic tor tearing and ripping, that’s the hard thing.”
All of this would eventually be sent to VFX to mesh it all together, and as Wright explains, Hiddleston, “Took it upon himself to be like, I want to be every single element in that VFX. So, if he's slipping, it’s the character conceptually being in six different places at once. He wanted to play all six of those performances, and then VFX will stitch them together.”
The countless takes of Time Slipping were worth it, though, because “It gave VFX and sound and everybody stuff to work with, where it's just making it even more gruesome and pulling tendons.” Wright adds. “You have all these elements of vocals, the stretching, bones cracking. We'd turn them up and turn them down, depending on the slip. But it was more about making it a bespoke performance, each one of those slips.”
Hiddleston praises VFX crew working behind-the-scenes on Loki who made the Time Slipping look seamless, removing certain frames, and adding them in a quick succession so it really looks like his body is being ripped apart. “A kind of very intense visual effects sandwich,” he jokes, “I take my hat off to the visual effects team for helping me out because it’s been a more physical [process] than I thought it was going to be.”

You Keep Slipping From My Grasp 2/7

Ship: Spirit Halloween

He felt arms wrap around his chest, pulling him up and out of the water. He gasped as his head breached the surface, and he came face to face with a young woman.
“Sir! what is that creature you came on!?” the woman asked him. He turned to where she was pointing, and saw a tentacled creature rearing back to attack them. He grabbed a sword that had been lying on the ground, and charged forward, ready to defend.
————
“Daaaad,” Dani groaned, hanging off Danny’s arm as he flew towards Clockwork’s lair. “Can I pleeease go with you to see Batman? I’m an expert on him!”
“First of all, you’re an expert in Robins and the best way to annoy them, and that’s not the same as being an expert in Batman. Secondly, you and Jazz have been quizzing me nonstop about the guy, I think I’m prepared!”
Dani pouts, “I just think he’s super cool. Besides! I know you’re a coward and you’d never actually talk to the guy without someone pushing you.”
Danny stops to turn to face Dani.
“Sweetie, I know you have a lot of experience hopping between dimensions and multiverses, but this situation is a bit different. Clockwork’s said he specifically sent me because I’m more resistant to the ill-effects of dimension-manipulation magic as an Ancient of Doors,” he takes a breath, making sure Dani’s full focus is on him.
“I just don’t want anything bad to happen to you.”
Dani is still pouting, so Danny reaches out to take her face in his hands.
“I promise when this is settled you can drag me to meet Batman or annoy one of the Robins– whatever you want.”
Slowly, Dani turned wide, watery eyes to Danny. He was only able to keep looking into her puppy eyes for a short while before throwing his hands up in exasperation.
“Ugh! Fine! I’ll ask Clockwork if you can at least watch, but I don’t know how much you’ll actually be able to see due to whatever’s blocking him.”
“Yes! Good enough!” Dani whoops, before speeding ahead towards Clockwork’s Lair.
Danny chuckled before following after.
————
Mordecai had been set to investigate what witch lived in Gotham nailing bats to Church doors. But his eyes were not as clouded as his brothers’, for he knew witches were less common than they liked to believe.
For example, this bat was nailed to the door with a knitting needle Goodwife Tyler had been using just yesterday. Mordecai knew too that Matthew Tyler would often beat his wife and had gone missing not long ago.
Of course, when he brought this to the attention of his fellow witch-hunters and peace-keepers, Brother Malleus had just insisted that Goodwife Tyler must be a witch and sent her to be dunked in the river until she confessed or drowned. Until Mordecai stopped him, that was.
Frustrated with the events of the day, Mordecai set out for the woods to meet with Annie. Many suspected her of being a witch, but she was the only one whose company he found solace in.
They talked of many things together–the accusations of her being a witch, their mutual distaste of Malleus, and Mordecai’s struggle to remember anything before waking up in Annie’s cabin almost 2 weeks ago.
Annie told him too of losing her parents, and being shunned to the woods. Of feeling a bit lost in the twists and turns of life. Mordecai had said then, “We have something in common Annie… both of us lost in our way.”
————
Danny leaned against a tree, watching Batman and Annie embrace. While he had watched Batman walk around Gotham, using investigative techniques to uncover the lack of witches, he had been mostly impressed that Batman had stayed so committed to his morals even without his memories.
Danny was entranced watching Batman insist on finding a different path forward beyond just declaring anything odd as witchcraft. It was exactly the kind of behavior Danny sought to promote as Ancient of Doors.
But the conversation he overheard between Batman and Annie was like a bucket of ice water over him. The reminder that Batman was separated from everything he knew, and everything that made him Batman. While he knew he could not actually do anything in this situation, and that even trying would probably lead to something worse, Danny yearned to help the hero he had grown so fond of, both from his own observations and the stories from Dani and other ghosts.
————
“The dragon’s been sighted in the woods! All witch-hunters fall in!”
Mordecai climbs on his horse, preparing to follow. He may not believe in this dragon, but clearly something is going on. The witch-hunters head into the woods, in the direction opposite Annie’s cabin.
But when they arrive, there’s no dragon—only the bones of seven men.
Mordecai hops off his horse to examine the bodies.
“Do you say now that witches and dragons don’t exist, Brother Mordecai?” Malleus asks.
“No, these men were dead before their flesh was eaten. See there— Matthew Tyler, his head caved in with what was probably a kitchen ladle.”
“Enough! You blame a ladle for this? When there’s a witness?” Malleus turns to face a villager that had come with them, “Tell Brother Mordecai what you saw.”
“It was a great beast, with seven heads and ten horns, just as the scripture tells. Each head was feeding on a different man…but when the bats came out to hunt, it fled.”
As the man spoke, Mordecai felt a sense of familiarity. In his mind, the image of a maw surrounded by thrashing tentacles arose.
Malleus continued, oblivious to Mordecai’s mental turmoil. “I will protect this town, as is my duty to god! They say an eclipse of the sun will come tomorrow, and by then, we will be ready!”
“An eclipse? There was something about an eclipse…” Mordecai muttered.
Malleus kept talking, but Mordecai was no longer listening.
With nothing to hunt, the witch-hunters left back to Gotham. Mordecai left to find Annie, to warn her of what was coming.
“You’re not safe here Annie. Malleus is a fanatic, and he doesn’t care about logic. I fear it’s only a matter of time before he sets his eyes on you. There’s something else too… something in these woods. The creature that attacked me, that night you found me. I remembered a bit more when I saw the traces of its destruction. It wasn’t the Church that sent me here, Annie. And I remember a dead man was with us… wearing these clothes.  You took them from him and gave them to me, didn’t you? These are Mordecai’s clothes!” He grabbed on to her arm to keep her from fleeing. She didn’t answer for a moment, but he held her gaze.
“I saw you rise from the water myself. You came when I called. That’s all I know.”
“Called? Where did I come from? I need you to take me there, Annie!”
“Fine. It’s private, hidden. It belonged to the Miagani who were here before us. It means bat-people.” She stood to lead him to the cave where she met him, “I’ll tell you more when we get there, but we’ll have to travel through the night.”
“Always bats…” He mutters.
————
“I thought Danny said you couldn’t actually see much of what was happening? This is actually pretty clear.” Dani asked from her suspended upside-down position in front of the gear that followed Danny and Batman.
Clockwork turned to her, a small but smug smile on his face. “Well, it’s not totally clear…”
Dani narrowed her eyes at him. “You have some ulterior motive here don’t you, gramps…”
Clockwork turned back to the screens. “Well, I doubt it’s dissimilar to your motivations in encouraging your father to try talking to Batman. He could do with some… companionship.”
Dani looked horrified for a brief moment, thought for a bit, before an evil smile spread across her face. “While I feel like I should be grossed out that you’re trying to set dad up with someone, I think it’d be hilarious to show up at the Robins’ house as their new stepsister.”
“Then, we’re in accord, young Dani?”
“Oh yeah, I’m excited to see where this is going, gramps.”
Clockwork turned to another gear, and pressed his staff to it, showing a different image. “If you’re interested, I might have a mission you can undertake that would make this more… ‘fun’ for you.”
“I’m in!”
————
The cave was dark, illuminated poorly by the torch Annie carried. And yet, he couldn’t help but note there was something about these caves that felt like…home.
“It was you, wasn’t it? You weren’t out gathering herbs as you told me. It was you who summoned the dragon that killed the real Mordecai, wasn’t it?” he asked, watching Annie.
“I only wanted to chase him away. They sent him to hunt me! All those witch hunters playing at saints, but they don’t shy away from destroying the land and slaughtering animals and other people. The Miagani who were here before us had the right of it, so yes, when Mordecai was sent to hunt me, I prayed to their gods and asked for someone to save me. And then, you came, riding on the back of that thing they call the dragon. If you want to say I’m guilty of being a witch because I worship gods that are not theirs, then I’ll confess to you. My gods are not their god or their devil.”
Mordecai heard something in the quiet after she finished speaking.
“Annie, we have to get out of this place right now. There’s something down there-”
On cue, the tentacled creature rose from the water to attack.
“Run Annie, run!” he yelled, pulling out his swords to fend off the tentacles. He managed to cut one off before he was pushed back by two more. He stumbled, and reoriented himself, preparing to charge back in, but was distracted by quick footsteps approaching. Fearing Annie had returned, he turned to tell her to run again, but stopped short at the sight of a white-haired man in dark leather armor running toward the monster with his sword drawn.
“Look out!”, the other man shouted. Mordecai turned and ducked under an incoming tentacle. He heard a slashing sound as the white-haired man fended off more tentacles heading towards them. The two quickly fell into a rhythm as they fought the dragon, green tentacles and water falling around them as they danced and wove together.
Finally, Mordecai saw an opening at the creature’s mouth. He launched himself forward, sword aimed ahead.
His head breached the water, and he could only splutter and scrabble to keep his head above the water. He made his way to the beach ahead.
“Can’t forget this time… Man of Bats…”
————
Batman was gone now, and so was the tentacled monster. The residual energy from Batman’s jump felt the same as before.
Danny stepped out of the cave, noting that the eclipse had occurred, and the sun was now peeking out again.
He opened a portal, stepping back into Clockwork’s lair, sighing heavily. He set his sword down, and stretched out his shoulders.
“So…” he started, staring at Clockwork’s back, nervous.
“I’m not mad, Danny. I think you did the right thing.” Clockwork turned to face Danny, smiling slightly. “Come here, and give me your sword.”
Danny came to stand next to Clockwork in front of a lab he must’ve set up while Danny was gone. Danny put his sword on the table. Clockwork got to work taking a sample of the monster’s blood that was still on it.
“I asked your parents to come, as I thought we may be able to make use of their expertise in figuring out what is causing Batman to travel through time. While we’re waiting, we might as well check to see how the monster might be related to what’s happening. I assumed you didn’t read the energy of the monster for yourself.”
“No, I’m sorry Clockwork. Everything happened so quickly, and I just-”
Clockwork put his hand on Danny’s shoulder to cut him off. “I think you handled everything just fine, Danny. It was a stressful situation, and you jumped in to protect Batman, which was good. In any case, we still have the blood from the creature, so we can still just examine that. You made the right choices in the situation, Danny. I don’t want you getting stuck thinking that you could’ve been better when you did what was needed. Now, we just need to focus on next steps.”
“Thanks, Clockwork.” Danny said, smiling slightly. He held out his hand for the blood sample, which Clockwork gave him.
“Now, focus, and see if it’s similar to the energy you detected off Batman before.”
Danny did as Clockwork directed. The energy from the blood felt faint, but Danny was still able to feel it. “It feels the same,” he told Clockwork.
Clockwork nodded, taking the vial and setting it down on the table. “Let’s leave this for your parents to study when they get here.”
“CLOCKY! GRANDPA! I’M BAAAACK!” they heard shouting from below, before Dani, in her human form, popped her head through the floor, her tongue sticking out.
“OH! Dad’s here! Great! Pops and Nana are on their way up too.” Dani finished pulling her body through the floor before running to squeeze between Clockwork and Danny.
They heard the clomping of Jack Fenton climbing the stairs, and a moment later they saw Maddie’s red hair.
“Dann-o! Clockwork called us to say you found something new and mysterious! Tell us everything!”
Clockwork chuckled. “How about we sit down for some tea and hot chocolate first. I see Mrs. Fenton brought fudge, and I should be able to find some cookies I got from an old friend.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Danny said, smiling.
A/N:
I'm not exactly trying to shy away from "darker" themes, but yeah if I'm not in the mood, I'm definitely going to keep away from things I think are over a certain line.
On that note:
Deliberately didn’t include what happens to Annie in the end, because I felt like it would change the overall tone of this story considering how serious that matter is. Similarly, tried to cut out most of the bible talk, but honestly considering where my biases lie and also just embodying Annie when writing her great rant, I gave up cutting all of it out. I'm hoping it's not too bad.
Spoiler-ish of what happens to Annie if you are planning on reading Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne:
It's not good, but definitely not as terrible as I fear I'm making it out to be. Think 'typical violence against witches'

ii. SO, HOW SHOULD i begin this?
part two woo. hopefully i'll be able to catch up on this and maybe publish some other stuff now that i'm home a lot more often (yay pain and mobility issues), maybe some arcane stuff since that would be fun, branching out into my last hyperfixation again lol. i've proofread so it should be good :>
pairing : five hargreeves x male/transmasc reader [he/him pronouns]
─────
where : after trying and sort of succeeding to get on the hargreeves' good side, five and [y/n] try rationalizing the situation and figuring out something, anything, to do about it.
─────
warnings : mentions of trauma, threats [of physical violence and murder], reader is still totally exhausted because how could he not be, depression, dissociation, pain, bits of shouting, not necessarily a warning but viktor is always viktor in the multiverse because the boy deserves it okay, existentialism, philosophical nihilism, family issues.

five adjusted his clothes in the mirror. although he wouldn't be able to have a proper retirement, he could look like a retired old man, couldn't he? who would've thought that someone could get so excited for beiges and tans. he got an amused look of subtle approval from you. beyond that, it wasn't very hard to look past your façade if he was being honest, you looked hesitant; though could he blame you? there were probably millions of worlds where his family fucked you over or just straight-up killed you. and yet, you also looked too tired to care. he couldn't blame you for that, either.
he touched your shoulder again. in a flit of light, which once again made you feel horribly nauseated and woozy, you were downstairs. surprised exclamations roused from his family.
"anyone know where vanya and allison are?" five asked, glancing with narrowed eyes across the lacking table.
"nope." and after that short reply diego went back to finishing off his meal—for someone who often scarfed his meals down, he seemed to be taking his sweet time. either that or your fun conversation with five had not taken as long as you'd thought; either possibility was equally likely at this point, really.
"nuh-uh... sorry."
"not a clue, unfortunately. something wrong, tiny dancer?" klaus asked.
"well, we have a new problem."
"who's this guy?" luther pointed at you wish his thumb, not caring to cover his mouth; your nausea was worsened to see someone talking whilst eating. diego looked at you then, and you hated how his glare bore straight through your soul. he really, really didn't seem to appreciate your presence. how both of them could so willingly ignore the phrase 'we have a problem,' especially from five, was unknown to you.
"this is [y/n]. he's one of the sparrows."
you waved once to everyone. whether the sluggishness of the motion, and the weak smile which accompanied it, was due to shyness or exhaustion was incredibly murky and unclear.
"so now we're getting all buddy-buddy with the enemy? do you know how stupid that is?"
"i'm sorry, diego, did you not hear me say that we have a problem?"
"well, you say that a lot, little brother!" klaus leaned forward to see you clearer, giving you a smile. it didn't really placate your anxieties or your strong desire to run, however it was appreciated. he waved, and you again waved back politely, still feeling very... guilty for your earlier flub. it wasn't a new thing, either, and that made you feel even worse. "hello, little enemy! how do you look so young? do you use those, like, '10 years younger' face creams? i didn't know they worked that well—"
"that is not a relevant question, klaus, now can someone please tell me where allison and vanya are?"
you cleared your throat slightly. "vanya is most likely getting a haircut. allison is trying to get to claire, but she's... not going to find her." it left a bitter taste in your mouth to refer to viktor in such a disrespectful way, but you couldn't take that from him. upon receiving suspicious stares from the younger hargreeves brothers, you mumbled a quiet "maybe."
"mind telling us what the hell is going on before i deck this mini-muffin across the lobby?"
"hey, hey, do not use mini-muffin as an insult! those are beautiful things, there's nothing better than mini-muffins when you're on a bender at, like, three in the morning!" klaus got a confused and heavily judgmental look in return for that... beautiful insight.
"[y/n] has the ability to see all other timelines, so he can usually find out the most probable events. okay? good. now i need to find allison, so can one of you fetch vanya, please?"
"no, not good, and no thanks! after all we've gone through, we deserve a proper explanation!" klaus objected. after a second or two of awkward silence, and a scowling glare from five, he gave in with a curt sigh. it sounded more like a groan. the brothers looked at you; klaus was the only one to seem patient, showing the approval of a parent understanding a kid's fear of giving a speech; luther stared at you with a puzzling mix of intrigue and subtle impatience; and diego stared at you with a raised eyebrow, leaning his head in slightly as if to say 'i'm waiting.' five's glare, although still quite characteristic, was a bit softer when aimed at you. you could never feel more put on the spot.
"you've gotta say something, little man, we can't read your mind," klaus encouraged.
"well, uh... i don't know exactly what it is yet, but something is wrong."
"aren't you omniscient or some shit? you can see literally every reality!"
the shouting scared you quite a bit and certainly made your headache worse. you put one of your hands to your head, mumbling, wishing you could just get some painkillers. if only five had given them back.
"don't shout, for fuck's sake," five grumbled, annoyed in his own right.
"i'm not omniscient. if no other worlds know something, then i can't, and... no other world knows yet. but something is wrong." your quiet voice was juxtaposed to diego's, still loud and stubborn like back in the academy. around 79.4 percent of every single alternate world which had diego in it found him like this, angry and short-tempered; it was very interesting. "you aren't supposed to be here. you guys, as you are, don't exist here. i don't think reality appreciates you showing up all of a sudden. and if versions of yourselves already exist in this world, then something will need to... iron out the wrinkles, i guess." you pursed your lips for a second. "not to be too brash or anything, but, to really, really dumb it down, you're a mis—you're mistakes."
"seriously? five, i thought you said that this timeline would be safe to stay in." luther looked like a scolded puppy. you felt bad. he was far too sweet—naive? yes, naive—for this kind of life.
"yes, that's what i thought, but second opinions are pretty valuable in my line of expertise. turns out it was sorely needed." his brows pricked up a few times while he spoke. "but, like you said before, it may be a problem we can solve."
diego remained, unsurprisingly, unswayed. "you better not be including this wad of chewed gum in that 'we,' five."
"what is with you and insulting him? he wants to help. jesus christ."
"last time i checked, his entire family just kicked our asses out of our own house, i have a right to be pissed, and he's lucky i'm in no killing mood."
"i don't agree that he should be killed," luther began in solidarity, "but we have a reason not to trust him, right?"
you took a little breath and exhaled it in a quiet sigh. "i know my family can be... extreme. and bad sometimes. trust me. and i totally understand how you can be angry with them and with me and think that i'm not honest. but i never hurt anyone, and i want to help you guys. you're eccentric yourselves, but usually you're good people. you're, like, an actual family," you added, trailing off, "not a group forced to stay together for monetary gain."
five squinted at you slightly. was that one of the reasons you chose not to grow up? you couldn't be associated with the sparrows if you were half their age. throw on a pair of sunglasses and nobody could recognize you.
jeez. didn't that sound nice.
"you guys really deserve a place to rest. a stable place to live, even. and if we can figure this out, then maybe you won't have to live in constant fear of coming into contact with your doppelganger or something. live, like, normal lives. as normal as they can be, anyway."
diego, much to your surprise, seemed to listen to what you were saying. sure, he still looked quite ticked-off and impatient, but you couldn't really ask for too much from him, could you?
"and you're sure that this is a problem we can actually solve? for good?"
"i'm not exactly sure what the problem even is yet. all i know is that something is wrong. but every problem has a solution, even if it seems impossible sometimes." there was a twinge of sage, melancholic hopelessness somewhere in there, some subtle disbelief. "five is quite the expert in timelines and time travel-related problems and paradoxes, and i'm an expert in alternate realities and manipulating reality itself. if anyone can figure it out, i'm sure we can. and i have no doubt that all of you will also play large parts."
luther's face was screwed into an expression of brazen confusion. "so... we're, like, completely blind, and need to fight an enemy we know absolutely nothing about."
"pretty much," you mumbled.
"surprisingly poetic way to put that, luther, i'm impressed," five mused rather sarcastically. "unfortunately, however, it seems we're gonna have to do something terrible and unprecedented." perhaps for dramatic effect, perhaps to quell his own annoyances, he paused and sighed out a breath. "we're going to have to work together." he did not need to specify the parties specified in 'together.'
"well, personally, i think this is a splendid idea. perfect opportunity for family bonding, i'd say! we're surrounded by decent chinese food and competent beds and cable television. decent music, too! and diego can finally figure out some self-discipline by not constantly threatening to kill [y/n]! marvelous idea little ones." admittedly, klaus's unique way of talking and gesturing was quite calming to you. you were very grateful for him. oddly enough—maybe you should've stopped saying that when it came to the umbrellas—klaus seemed to be that pillar of tranquility for you. viktor as well.
"calm down, calm down. you know that he won't turn against us or whatever? you're sure?"
the question was directed at five but you answered for him. "i'm not strong and i've never been in good health. even christopher, without his powers, would be better at fighting you than i would."
"the fucking cube?" you nodded. he plastered a grin over a pouting scowl. he sighed, giving into the plan. perhaps some remaining distrust still lingered, however, he could deal with it. "we've gotta clue allison and vanya in now. i'll go get vanya."
"finally," five huffed, shaking his head. "i'm going to find allison. you said she's going to try and find claire? i'll go to her old house." and then, the next second, he was gone. a few seconds of... incredibly awkward silence passed, where luther was staring at you whole-heartedly.
"go on and take a seat, young whipper-snapper. do you have any dietary restrictions? or allergies? we've probably got something here you can eat, if you want."
Tumblr media
you had asked to walk back home with five.
"why with me?" "it's a little bit selfish, but i really don't want to be alone right now, and you're the number one person i trust right now." "flattering," he muttered. "then why walk?" "i think better when i walk."
admittedly, walking was taxing for you right now, so it may not have been your brightest idea, but after this entire day you needed a nice break; the picturesque city sunset was nice, the breeze was subtle and sweet, and it smelled like food out there on the streets. viktor had offered to talk with marcus and try to make a deal; you'd asked him to be very, very careful. "i don't know if purposely seeking out the anomaly would be more effective, or if allowing it to reveal itself would be better. maybe we should seek it out."
five nodded slightly. "allowing it to reveal itself could mean that it becomes too powerful to stop."
"that's kind of what i was thinking. we don't know how it would reveal itself. what if it destroys something, or changes something? what if it hurts people?" your voice was quieter with that last proposition. it was the worst possible option in your mind; buildings could be rebuilt. changes could be undone, with enough time and patience. but people could not be undamaged, and they could not be brought back to life.
well, not permanently, anyway.
five's pace slowed a bit and he peered at you, strangely, for a moment. you avoided his eyes.
"surprisingly enough, i don't think this is the... worst outcome." "forgive me but i don't really believe you. we've got jack all on either side. essentially, we're alone." "you're used to it, five." "hmph. and you aren't?" "not in this way, i guess." there was more he wanted to say but you would not give him the opportunity to dig too deep. "there are worlds where your family is on board. trusts me, even, after some convincing. and there are also some where we narrow the options down. i'd love to be in one of those. but at least we aren't at each other's throats again, or diego's choking me to death." your voice soured. if you got too close, you could feel that pain. there your mind went then, trying to save your other selves out of some ethereal desperation you could never claw yourself away from.
"ow!" you hissed, clapping a hand to your neck where it had stung, sharp and sudden. "what was that?"
"you were seriously so spaced out you didn't see me?" five asked, though it barely sounded like a question. he sounded just barely concerned. you had looked like a glove without a hand. "jeez," he scoffed, shaking his head. "did you see anything helpful, at least? anything at all?"
your mind was still seared and shattered across uncountable realities and he could see that struggle to ground in your eyes. hear it in your breath. you had little mental fortitude left to respond. "sorry? can you repeat that?"
five didn't roll his eyes. unfortunately, he knew dissociation. he carefully took your hands in his, rubbing your knuckles like he'd seen you do before, and that seemed to give you... some amount of usable energy. it was also sort of difficult not to notice him, of all people, doing it, even while he sported an expression of general distaste for the situation; you couldn't tell if it was falsified or not. slowly, you were returning to your body, and it felt heavier than ever before. "what did you see?" he repeated, just as you asked, meticulously annunciating each word and using a decent pace.
you nodded slightly. "i saw a few other timelines. less fortunate ones." you didn't need to elaborate for five to understand what you were referring to. the broad strokes, anyway. "nothing really useful, though," you added after a second in total defeat.
"shit. well, that's alright." and though it clearly wasn't, you didn't say anything.
"how long have we been standing here?"
"... a minute or two."
"oh, great," you mumbled, shaking your head to yourself. your record was around two hours, sure, but it still sucked. "the... we should seek it out."
"wow. you remembered."
"we were having the same conversation a whole lot. given i was still alive and actually grew to trust you." it was a half-joke but it succeeded in getting a bare grin out of five. "we can't risk hurting other people."
"or destroying something," five added.
"or destroying something," you agreed, then furrowing your brow slightly. a cafe nearby was playing pleasant music; that was something keeping you tethered to this world in particular, as if five wasn't enough, but even he was quiet sometimes. "the only problem is we don't know where it is."
"or what it looks like. if it even looks like something at all. it could very well be invisible or incomprehensible." he scowled for a second, though not out of irritation, thinking rather loudly to himself. "we should start where we appeared, i think." you nodded in agreement. "if your... 'family' decides to work with us, all of us, then we can search a whole lot more. but we should get the basics out of the way."
"the beginning is always the most logical place to start."
"quaint way to put it, did you write the sound of music in another universe?"
"what part about 'literally any possible, feasible universe' do you not understand?" you joked, managing a small smile of your own, and five would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little bit relieved to see you humoring yourself again.
"i deserve that." he paused for a second. "i know you said that walking helps you think, and you definitely need to do that more, but you look like a dead man standing right now. i'd rather just drop you off at the academy and get back to my own family. are you okay to teleport?" you did not respond at first, taking careful account of how you felt and how you may feel after. eventually, and rather subtly, you nodded.
"my room is klaus's old room back in your universe."
"wow, that... makes it easier. safer, probably." that was the closest you were going to get to 'thank you' so you took it. you shut your eyes tight and breathed deep through that half-second nausea-bomb. you were happy to see your room when you opened your eyes; smelling like home, looking like home, feeling like pure comfort. five glanced about your room. somehow it looked exactly like what he expected from you, which was a compliment. it was cozy. well-lived—especially the bed. there were many blankets and pillows and a few stuffed animals, unmade, probably because you barely left it. he couldn't blame you, either.
looking at you, you seemed totally relieved and excited to be back home.
"are you going to let go of my hands now?"
five stiffened for a second, mumbling a hushed apology before letting go, shoving his hands in his pockets. you couldn't help but grin a little, tiredly, and he scoffed when he saw it. "don't look at me like that. i was helping you ground, since you evidently can't do it yourself sometimes." not that he could blame you, really. he couldn't imagine what it would be like to be... you.
you ignored the jab. "i'm surprised you're willing to wait to take care of this," you mumbled, hanging up your scarf and sweater, lazily rifling through your dresser to find something decently comfortable to pass out in. "you always insisted on getting things done quick. if not immediately."
"i'm desperate for one damn moment of peace. the world isn't being decimated just yet. i just want to sleep decently for once."
you smiled slightly. no one could work while exhausted, especially not when it came to your quandary. "go on and sleep then. i'll meet you at the obsidian again tomorrow."
"yeah. oh, uh, just remembered something. close your eyes for a few seconds."
"why?"
"just do it."
you scoffed, though without any sort of animosity or annoyance, shutting your eyes tight like he told you to. you heard the familiar sound of his blinking once, twice. "alright. you can look. here." he held out to you your bottle of painkillers. "nearly forgot to give them back."
"oh, sh—thank you." the relief on your face was quite plain and sort of comforting as well. he mustered a slight hum in response.
"good night."
"night, five. sleep well."
"hmph. we'll see."

Teen Years
“Hey, Mom?”
“Yes, mijo?” Conchata O’Hara looks up from her crossword puzzle, and she sees that Miguel looks troubled. “Something wrong?”
“You know how you always told me and Gabe to be careful if we meet a girl, because you don’t want to be a grandma before your time?” The seventeen-year-old sees his mom’s eyes go wide, and he quickly adds, “No one’s pregnant, I promise! But…” He pulls up a chair to sit next to her. “What if I have the opposite…issue?”
Conchata considers herself well-educated, but she’s at a loss. “You mean…if you’re gay?” she asks.
Miguel shakes his head. “I mean…what if I never feel…that way…about anyone?”
“I thought you had a big crush on Xina Kwan last year?”
“Oh, she’s really cool and pretty!” Miguel says. “But I never thought of being…I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to kiss her – I just really liked being around her.”
“Well then…I think you’ll be ok for now, kiddo.” Conchata pats Miguel’s hand. “Better to not jump into stuff while you’re still a kid.”
--
An Alternate Life
Miguel has a few brief relationships throughout college and his early 20’s – and by the time he turns 24, he can say, with about 94 percent certainty, that he’s asexual and panromantic.
He worries briefly that this will affect how he integrates with his counterpart’s family, but Raquel, his now-wife, knows immediately that this isn’t her own true love back from the dead. She makes it very clear that Miguel isn’t expected to perform “husbandly duties” in bed.
“I won’t make love to a stranger,” she tells him. “But if you’re going to be here, I’ll need all the help with Angie that I can get.”
Miguel rises to that challenge beautifully. Angie is a wonderful kid and raising her is a joy. In that process, Miguel even finds himself falling in love with Raquel. He’d seen glimpses of her goodness on the multiverse scans, but in person, navigating her and Angie’s life and even his, she’s magnificent. He makes sure to tell her every day, and he soon gets in the habit of quickly kissing her on the shoulder at night when they go to bed.
When the universe begins to fall apart and Miguel loses Raquel and Angie, he’s devastated of course – but at the same time, there’s also the tiniest relief that he and Raquel didn’t end up having sex. If they’d conceived a kid together and Miguel had lost that little one too…he might have seriously considered suicide.
--
The Spider Society
You and Miguel have started dating casually in the last few months – Lyla and Jess know, but for privacy’s sake, you don’t say anything to anyone else at HQ. Miguel knows that some other Spider Society members speculate about his orientation, and he doesn’t want to expose you to that. Jess and Lyla are generally good about heading off any untoward questions, but neither of them are quite prepared to deal with Thomasina “Tommi” Dade.
Tommi is, on paper, a perfect candidate for the Society. Her powers are based on a crab spider, and while she lacks some finesse, she makes up for it with sheer force and speed during a fight. Unfortunately, that same “rampaging bull” quality also applies to her personality. Once she gets an idea in her head, she won’t let it go – and she has decided that she and Miguel are perfect for each other. Every day she tries to get his attention in some flirtatious way, and the few times it happens in front of you, it takes everything you have to stay quiet. Jess’s attempt to stop Tommi’s behavior is only a temporary salve. One day, she pulls Tommi aside and tells her that Miguel is ace and to please leave him alone – but Tommi misunderstands and thinks that Miguel just doesn’t date at all. When she comes across you and Miguel having a clearly personal dinner, she explodes at the both of you.
“How dare you call yourself asexual??” she screams at Miguel. “If I’m not good enough for you, but this little nobody is, then you’re not ace, you’re a coward who can’t handle a real woman! What kind of a leader are you?”
Miguel starts to get up, but you stand first, feeling rage building in your body. “You need to apologize right now,” you tell her. You’re offended on your and Miguel’s behalf, of course, but you realize you’re also angry at Tommi for accidentally bad-mouthing Raquel. Miguel has never hidden her memory from you, and you know she was a better woman than Tommi will ever be.
Instead of answering you, Tommi shoves your shoulder, and you briefly lose your balance. However, what she doesn’t know is that this gives you an opening to use your kickboxing training. Your back foot plants to the ground like a tree root, and your free leg flies up, hitting Tommi in the side with a devastating roundhouse kick.
Tommi’s stance isn’t nearly so secure, and she hits the floor in an undignified heap. When she catches her breath, you offer her a hand up, but she bats it away. “You’re fucking psychotic!” she hisses. “You two can keep each other!” She stumbles to her feet with venom in her eyes – but she does leave.
A different man might feel his cock jump at your display of protectiveness. That doesn’t happen for Miguel, but he’ll admit, *IF* Jess or Lyla push for details later, that you gave him a sense of security when you stood up for him – a feeling he hasn’t had since losing Raquel. That has to be a good sign, right?

not to Discourse, but about Sylvie snapping at Mobius:
She was right. She could have said it nicer (well, someone else could have - i adore Sylvie but i wouldn't really say she's consistently 'nice' and there are very obvious reasons for that in her backstory) but it's true, Mobius has been bizarrely chill about so many things this season, to the point where it does seem odd, actually. I think it's easily missed (maybe?) partly because fandom has decided long ago that Mobius is some sort of therapist/social worker who is always calm and so emotionally insightful and his role in fanfic is to be supportive at the more obviously fucked-up characters. But like. He's also fucked up. He's already said that he's avoiding finding out about his old life in case it was good, so it's not like "Mobius won't let himself think about the sad things" is a new idea, is it?
I don't think Sylvie gets why he's like this (or she wouldn't have been so angry, for a start) but those two have spent very little time together (I think we the audience sometimes forget how little) and I know shipwars are inevitable and eternal but the show really does kind of break down into Loki-with-Mobius and Loki-with-Sylvie almost like two parallel worlds that interact less than might be expected. So why does Loki not "stand up for Mobius" there? Well there's the fact that it's true and that Loki was (unlike Sylvie) there when Mobius said he's scared of uncovering his old life so is more likely to connect the dots. And the element of "oh no my faves are fighting! i cannot take sides or at least one of them will hate me! i shall just stand here awkwardly and say nothing!"
I assume Loki and Mobius will talk this stuff over at some point, but in this episode there's not time for any of the several conversations that need to happen (and presumably this is a deliberate writing choice to drag things out a bit keep the tension up) and idk about anyone else but I would find it a bit weird if Sylvie had instead been unusually gentle (for her) and softly asked Mobius if he's feeling okay or does he want to have a chat about anything? Perhaps over a nice cup of tea and some chocolate biscuits? Nah, she's tense, of course she's going to snap. Ideally she wouldn't have done that but *gestures vaguely* what about any of this situation they're all in would you describe as "ideal"?
Maybe she'll apologise in one of the remaining episodes. But if she does he'll say that her observation was right, if not delivered in a way he'd have preferred.
tl;dr - Mobius is fucked up too and Sylvie (who has just in as many words says she thinks being soft makes you weak) is not diplomatic at the best of times, let alone while the multiverse is in the process of collapsing/exploding/whatever-the-fuck-it's-doing.
