Without fail, one of the fastest ways to get a virtual stranger to point blank ask you the most personal/invasive/off the wall questions you've ever heard in your life is to tell them you're queer in some way.
For example:
"I'm trans." "Have you had bottom surgery yet?"
"I'm ace." "Do you masturbate?"
"I'm gay." "So are you a top or a bottom?"
"I'm a lesbian." "Do you scissor?"
"I'm bi." "Wanna have a threesome?"
Like...?? Are y'all good??

hellaaa plz share your favorite dabihawks fics for all of us who want some recs into their crazy minds!!
sorry i didnt answer this straight away i was reading a 230k words fic that i wanted to finish before i added it here 😭 does anyone know what's wrong with me. therapists hate me
dabihawks rec list!!
burn it all down by dorothycanfly - an au where dabi comes back to the todoroki estate to kill shouto when he's 19 and shouto is 11, but decides instead to take his little brother with him as part of his Grand Evil Masterplan that doesn't quite go as he wanted. this is the fic i always rec first in this fandom as it's the first dabi fic i really read that felt like it Understood Him and really made me go bananas about him. it's dark and twisted and true to what i think his actual mindset would be without demonising him, and also has shouto and him being very close and the way the author writes their dynamic is everything to me like it's so true to a real sibling relationship and id die for them. it gets very smutty in the middle but if that's not your thing the plot also kicks right back up again at 100mph immediately after, and there's also a sequel still being updated that's very promising.
big reputations by phanatics - singer fake dating au!!! i absolutely love dabi's characterisation in this and the celebrity angle is handled soooo well. the miscommunication and slow burn is incredible and that's coming from a bitch who finds both tropes frustrating unless they're done to my very niche standards. im pretty sure i read this fic in one day. im not making graduation i fear.
gunshots and molotovs by ironicallystupid - this is a 14k oneshot where dabi treats hawks' gunshot wound in a distinctly dabi way and then they get drunk. this one really got to me and i think it's bc it's one fic where they feel so true to character while still, for once, both acting their age. a big appeal of dabihawks for me is that they are both ultimately just two guys in their early twenties and seeing them embody that youth and silliness was surprisingly poignant
the 'will you accept this rose?' series by satelliteblue- the famous bachelorette au! if you don't know what i mean by famous, it's bc this fic has a habit of getting people who don't even read mha fic obsessed with it. like it's genuinely addicting. i remember first finding it and being like 'bacherlorette au dabihawks? be so fr' and look where im at now, 355k words later. it's genuinely just such a fun read AND i love the drama of it AND it has the todofam angle AND an actual plot snuck into it effortlessly. one of my fav fics of all time truly and it's still updating!
perspective by theeclecticeccentric - this is the fic i just finished and when i tell you ive powered through all 230k words of it in the past 4ish days. i love the league dynamic in this with the whole found family angle. i'll say it was something i clicked on less bc this kind of au (childhood friends dabihawks brainwashed to forget each other) is what i would normally go for and more bc i have BATTERED the dabihawks tag for all it's worth so i just tried it on a whim, but im so happy i clicked this bc it wound up being so fun! i also love any fic that forces the heroes and villains to ally against the hpsc and this fic does that. instant hit with me.

Uhura hate vs Concerned fans? Who is really winning?
In response to SNW Uhura hate, I will like to address this objectively and logically.
1. Admitting it is wrong to hate or bully ceelia gooding.
2. Also saying she is miscast in the role of Uhura.
I do not condone any hate or racism to any actor. Nonetheless I do believe some actor are not right for a part or sometimes actors are miscast deliberately for a part to push an agenda.
The very first time I saw the promo for snw, I was shocked at the Uhura photos as I could not truly tell if that was meant to be a boy or a girl. having to now accept that, this is meant to be a young Nyota felt too far-fetched.
We should not condone hate. However fans also need space to express genuine  concerns. I do NOT believe that the majority of people that say Ceelia Gooding is miscast hate her. they don’t just think she is right for the role and I agree.
SNW will never have cast a  Danny DeVito or a Jason Alexander actor in the role as Spock. They also would never have cast a Rosie O'Donnell as T-Pring or Chapel or Una. I love all these actors but they will be 100% wrong for some trek roles. This is the same with Ceelia Gooding as Uhura, an actress who may also be undergoing gender hormone therapy as a non-binary actor. It makes sense that Uhura looks very androgynous on the show, she is played by a non binary actor.
Sometimes even with racism, some actors still fit the part that could not be denied. Look at Halle Bailey, despite not been white she was still a perfect casting of Ariel in the little mermaid. This is not the case with Ceelia Gooding. There is nothing about her that is similar to TOS Uhura or what made Uhura Iconic.

Alright friend, you caught me on a day when I've got some extra time and spoons so I'm gonna try and engage with your message under the assumption of good faith (but to be clear, with all due respect, framing your message as "objective" and "logical" is giving big dogwhistle energy...)
Quick piece of context setting, I'm mostly familiar with Star Trek media through social osmosis and not personally watching the movies or tv shows, but I would say I'm familiar enough for a general conversation. I also did about 30min of additional research to double check my info but if I get some details wrong, that's why.
For anyone unfamiliar, Strange New Worlds (SNW) is a prequel to the original series of Star Trek (TOS) so they feature a handful of the same characters.
Now, you say there is "nothing about [Celia Gooding] that is similar to TOS Uhura or what made Uhura iconic." I think there's plenty about Gooding that is similar to Nichelle Nichols/TOS Uhura. They are both black, they are both relatively femme presenting, neither is visibly physically disabled, and they are pretty close to the same height (5ft5in vs 5ft8in). So then are you upset that SNW Uhura wears her hair short? Or are you upset that she wears pants and a tunic style jacket as her standard costume rather than sheer tights and a dress that barely covers her butt?
As an aside, "iconic" is a wholly subjective category but I don't disagree that Uhura is an iconic character. That being said, since you point out that quality, if you're up for sharing, I'm curious what you think made TOS Uhura iconic that is so different with SNW Uhura.
To quickly address your counter example, sure, if Danny Devito were cast in a prequel role to Leonard Nimoy's Mister Spock, that would strain credulity. But let me ask you this -- do you *really* see the same level of difference between the visual presentation of Danny Devito vs Leonard Nimoy and Celia Gooding vs Nichelle Nichols? Really? Let me grab a few pictures just to be sure we're all seeing the same people...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(image description: two photos, both featuring two men standing side by side; on the left is Danny Devito, a shorter heavy-set man, with George Clooney, a much taller and slim man; on the right is Leonard Nimoy with Jim Parsons, they are both tall and slim /end id)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(image description: two photos, both featuring femme-presenting individuals standing alone and looking into the camera; the one on the left is wearing a silky red ball gown with a deep-v neckline that shows off their boobs, they are wearing light makeup and some jewelry and their dark hair is buzzed short; the one on the right is wearing a glittery gold ball gown that has two high slits to show off her legs, she is also wearing some makeup and jewelry and her longer fluffier hair is styled in an updo typical of the 1960s /end id)
Look.......... the only specific/clear(ish) objections you've raised about Gooding getting cast in this role are about her appearance. As I have hopefully sufficiently demonstrated, I think those concerns are unfounded. If you have issues with the narrative/plot/character development for SNW Uhura, your problem should be with the writers and not with Celia.
If you're up for a little self reflection, try and get more specific about what bothers you so much about the situation. Connecting some dots here, you said SNW Uhura is too different from TOS Uhura to be acceptable to you, but you did not raise the same concerns about Ethan Peck as SNW Spock, even though he's also different from Leonard Nimoy as TOS Spock. What's the difference in the differences that makes one of these fine and one of these not?

SIX OF CROWS AND KISSING !!
(Welcome to this silly but intricate guide nobody asked for)
Just so everybody knows and is fully aware, I literally never kissed anybody in my whole damn life. I dont much care to try (for now) unless your name is Amita fucking Suman (jkjk, or not), but that doesnt mean I didnt do some very extensive research on the topic just so I can write what are hopefully non-generic scenes where all of my favorite characters make out till the following sunrise without a single other thought plaguing their empty little minds (exception being if the said thought is used to deepen 'the plot').
Before I say much else, I would like to note that THIS is just a very detailed bullet point list on kissing for all of my boys and girls separate of their partners assigned to them in canon or by the fandom. We will get to how it would actually go in different scenarios with different ships a bit later on if I decide it wont be a waste of my time. PS: No, not every kiss / kisser has to be extraordinary or unique or have whatever traits I ended up slapping on these characters here, Im just extra like that. And its not like anybody can stop me. Deal with it and simply enjoy (whatever this may be)!
→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→
JESPER LLEWELLYN FAHEY
Jesper has had his fair share of practice in this particular field, we all know it. That is no reason to say that he is a perfect kisser, there are many who have done way more, constantly brag about it, and yet still leave you disappointed. But, this is Jesper we are talking about. Kuwei has said that he is a great kisser too, I choose to trust him on that. That joke he made to cheer up Wylan at Olendaal, the one about kissing Nina / Matthias 'with tongue', it doesnt have to mean anything, but I like to think he is a tongue kind of guy. I also like to think that he is adaptable to any type of person though, he aims to please through-and-through. It saddens me to look deeper, to think about how that may be a result of his low self-esteem, but in moments like these, it makes him happy most of the time, and it is all I could hope for when it comes to my boy.
The first relationship he had been a witness to, the one his mother and father shared before her death, had been a very healthy one. I wouldnt call Colm the perfect father, certainly not after his wife was gone, albeit he is significantly better compared to the hands the rest of our favourite characters have been dealth with, but he was good to Aditi. Most kids, including myself, were the type to be grossed out by PDA, especially when its between their parents, and while thats not in any way a bad thing, we can clearly see that Jesper was not of that type.
Despite his many faults, he was raised fairly well. He knows how to make a comfortable environment, to recognize a clear invitation, what to ask and what not to ask, what is acceptable and what he shouldnt do without a more in-depth discussion. He knows how to create and opportunity where one could deny him if they so wished. I wouldnt say its some overly high bar to jump over, if anything it is the most basic standard any and all should hold themselves to, but I call Jesper 'the consent king' for a reason.
Its said in the book that his mind empties when he kisses the right person, that thinking of methaphors clearly means something is wrong, but hes still pretty descriptive in his POVs if you ask me. Its also very clear that he likes to kiss deep, slow, and involve other sensations throughout which is the part where Id like to include some of my very own hcs (slight temperature / texture play where he drags his rings over skin, hair pulling is a given but I can see him also liking to touch peoples ears a lot, talking in between and whispering during the few subtly initiated pauses, etc). Jespers favourite type of kiss would probably be those he iniciates as soon as he wakes up in the morning. It rains often in Ketterdam, its normal, so he would also probably be one of the rare creatures among the regular Kerch citizens who finds kissing in the rain romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KAZ BREKKER (RIETVELD)
Kaz will have to go through some major healing first, no doubts about that, but Id say he would probably be one of the elite members of the 'Im keeping my eyes open for this' club (until he isnt). I doubt he does much analyzing during, mentally he is on another planet thats probably many lightyears away as he tends to do with a lot of other even remotely intimate things, but theres lots of squinting, eyelid fluttering... Kaz is basically a personafication of that cliche 'when did I close them' quote. In my own experience, I can barely hold eye contact when talking, but I dont really see this as a bad trait. I also dont see it as a trauma response either like some would assume it would be for Kaz, I think its just a him thing. If this man didnt want to kiss somebody, you would not be kissing him, end of.
He likes to focus on teeth, whether by unconsciously (or consciously) biting his partner, having your teeth bump into each other, or licking his own after youre done. Theres lots of shuddering, youll feel him there more than youll hear him, but he is not completely silent either. I dont think he would like beeing cornered, picked up or lifted in any way except on very rare occasions. Just like the pulse thing where he feels for it on the wrist (or neck once he is more comfortable), feeling his weight including the pain of his leg serves to ground him. Perhaps he might also like feeling of you breathing through your nose on his face for the same reasons? He doesnt like leaving things unfinished, even if its just a peck, he will make sure it feels 'complete', I dont know how else to put it. If anybody could overuse the words "Again?", it would be Kaz motherfucking Brekker.
Im in no way saying he will be good, in fact, theres lots of traits here that many wouldnt like, but he tries when he wants to (and again, you would not be kissing this man if he didnt want it), he will learn and he will remember the smallest of details (so that he can ponder over them later). The only thing we hear about Kazs appearance related to his mouth is that there is a scar running through his upper lip. I never got it when people talked about kisses having a taste, but Kaz seems to often call people light-weight, so clearly, he handles his alcohol well, perhaps having developed such a habit to settle down his own supposedly non-existent nerves. It might not be the main reason, we heard about him being on the receiving end of many fights that in certain circumstances and with the ways they are handled lead to similar results, but liquor does leave one dehydrated and with chapped lips.
WYLAN VAN ECK (HENDRIKS)
Unless he is particulary fired up, Wylan likes to start slow and chaste no matter if you are the first, the thousanth person he has kissed or just a person he has kissed a thousand times. Unlike Kaz, he has some experience, sheltered kids know how to have fun in secret (and Im the last person who would ignore that 'lie' about him being kicked out for bedding the tutor, theres some truth to everything), but he is also nowhere near the level of Jesper or Nina or Matthias. We know he likes when his partner feels calm and like they are actually in their body before he goes in for the kill, we saw it with Jesper, but we also see that he isnt the type who needs to ask every time and will just do it when 'the time feels right'. Look out, he just might squeeze into your shirt while youre wearing it and do a makeshift 'surprise attack' from there if he is determined enough for it.
From that, we could say he might have some other habits, including but not limited to the familiar one of guiding his partner through breathing patterns. Maybe sometimes he likes to hold onto your forearms more tightly than necessary (not forcefully though), have your knees touch and bump into one another, straighten his own / your items of clothing, compare hand sizes while making weirdly-intense eye contact, use his thumb to subtly rub at a random tensed muscle, touch foreheads if he is tall enough or rub his face along the side of your neck, anything that would focus your attention to him and the moment... Ironically, as a follow up to the last point and as the kiss drags on, he forgets that he is an actual person who has a weight to them and has to lean back against something with the help of his partner before he falls down and cracks his goddamn skull open.
He likes to leave an effect on whoever he is kissing, but he also likes to 'clean up after himself' as much as possible after its done, which once again serves to bring both of you back down. So yeah, he would probably do something like twirling a stay peace of hair around his finger before neatly tucking it back in place, running that same finger across a brow, down the nose or along the jawline, nudging you playfully with his shoulder, hips or elbows, swaying a bit to slowly return the atmosphere back to relaxed as he secretely links your pinky fingers together. Lips would be his main focus, and he especially likes the soothing effect it has when he is sleepy, but he could also grow to like eyelid, nose, tummy or thigh kisses when it comes to placement.
Tumblr media
INEJ GHAFA
Inej has had many men kiss her throughout her life, and unfortunately, theres no need to debate whether she truly enjoyed any of them. Oh how I would love to say that every shitty person is also shit at every other skill they try to master, however, that doesnt have to be the case. The fact that she was a brothel girl doesnt have to mean all of her kisses were bad (to specify, that refers to the technique). That being said, I think she would appreciate the message more than the way its done. It also might result in her not exactly caring about the placement of a kiss, palm, knuckles, hair, cheek, neck, lips, any of them would be equally as intimate to her, platonic or otherwise. Its somewhat similar to what Wylan also likes, but very different too once you look further.
As is with Kaz, you would not be kissing the Inej we know now unless she didnt want you to. I probably should have said this earlier, no, I dont mean that any of the other Crows would enjoy a kiss that was not what they wanted, they wouldnt ignore the signs and will fight the person off if needed, but I hope you understand why Im emphasizing it for these two in particular. I think her kisses would be short, but sweet, a petite little package that can deliver a punch under a right set of conditions, just like she can, the same going for her ship. Physically, we know her lips have an upturn to their shape. As is true with alcohol, salt water has the same drying effect that is only made worse by licking.
One other feature that might make Inejs kisses unique is a possibility of her aquiring more jewellery during her travels. I always imagined that the Suli find piercings to be very meaningful. Perhaps she had some since a very young age, perhaps they were taken from her too during her time at the Menagerie, maybe the holes closed naturally over the long months, maybe she got more whilst working for Kaz, and although it was not put there for such a reason, a lip ring (just as an example) has quite a pleasing effect for either side.
She holds a special appreciation for people who remember their first kiss, or at least remember their first kiss with her, a courtesy she will offer in return as well. It takes special kind of brave to get close (she knows better than most) and never lets the feat of overcoming fear go unappreciated. For some reason, I can see her counting the seconds, not for any reason at all. I wouldnt say its something particulary good nor bad, but Inej doesnt give me the 'let me kiss your words away' signals no matter the situation. The phrases that would fit more would be "We will get through this", "Stay strong, for you", "Lets face it together" or "We shall see each other once more". She seems like the type to keep her affairs secret, but at the end of the day, I also dont think she would mind PDA all that much.
Tumblr media
KUWEI YUL-BO
I know the fandom likes to joke that Kuwei is the bad kisser between the two, seeing as to how Jesper was left 'disappointed' even before knowing the truth behind who he was actually kissing... But I dont think that had to do much with the kiss itself. We were told that Jesper liked Kuweis body plenty enough, but even if it were really Wylan (both in shape and spirit), Jesper wasnt in the right space, and Kuweis silence and mannerisms didnt do much to help.
Now, this is a personal headcanon, but one of the habits I think he might pick up in the Little Palace would be scratching his nose or covering his mouth before he goes in for a kiss. Or well, I like to imagine that being his tell among all the snarky comebacks, vicious flirting and sly glances. And seeing as to how playful he is with his powers and how much he grows to use them for mischief and otherwise in KOS, I like to think that his face is always warm to the touch as Kuwei himself is constantly touching it. Random instert, this man unironically likes lemons and you will without a doubt taste quite an assortment of teas while with him.
Some people care about the emotional setting, some like keeping it casual, and some like having that perfect mix of both. Kuwei might acknowledge that in different ways and act accordingly, but I also think he might care more about the physical setting and connect good actions with places rather than specific people or mutual feelings. This man is a certified tease, unless you pull him towards you which is exactly what he wants, he is 100%, absolutely ready to keep a partner on the edge of their seat, kiss the corner of their mouth, or maybe with the lips barely touching. Instead of licking his own lips out of habit or to seduce, he would lick yours. Kuwei being a tease might also be a way for him to set up walls? In a sense that hes reminding both himself and the person hes kissing that this is just a kiss and it doesnt mean anything. And when hes kissed by someone he loves and trusts, hes downright pathetic, super soft and annoyingly sweet about it.
I dont know where else to put it so it will have to be here, but I like to think he chewed on his lips a lot as a child and whilst in captivity, leaving him with barely visible indents once he reached adulthood. When it comes to the type, Id say he could end up enjoying goodnight kisses next to the fireplace or lit by the flame in his own hand more than he would like doing anything in the early morning. Kuwei tends to get frustrated and bored easily so that might lead to certain effects as well, more specifically the speed, angle and desperation. He has hid for long enough and doesnt much care about who sees what, only whether they got a nice view from wherever they were standing at the time.
NINA ZENIK
Nina has practiced CPR from a very young age (I wouldnt call any of those a true kiss by any means, but it will make slightly more sense in just a moment), we see her perform one on Kaz in the books without hesitation, so I doubt her first 'kiss' was particularly enjoyable or wholly consentual or that she even remembers it. Perhaps from that, her kisses would grow to be particulary breathy in the future, although that doesnt mean its some kind of rule or that its not just a result of her personality being put into how she goes about it. We already know temple kisses are her thing among some other stuff, but she also doesnt seem to have a similar kind of bond with any other type that is not at neck level or above. Shes fine with them, but always seems to go to certain spots herself when she has a choice, singing and laughing through all of it. As Matthias tends to say a lot, the chase is a game to her, whether on top or beneath, she still wins.
Her skin is said to be soft, and supposedly so are her lips, plus the girl is a Heartrender and that surely results in many privileges. Surprisingly enough, I wouldnt say she is particularly experienced in the world of romance, even if her talent at sweet-talking might suggest otherwise. Perhaps shes had flings, one or two, maybe even a relationship at some point, but I dont see much more in my visions of her backstory. "Dont you want to play with me?" and "Cant you handle it?" are some of the repeating phrases in her vocabulary, but oh, it only gets worse once she feels well and truly romanced, swept off her feet as one might say, and that takes lots of effort. Its a good thing we know Nina has some high expectations, that way all of us can be her personal wingmen.
If anybody could obtain the famous movie achievement of leaving a string of saliva to connect her lips with her partners for just a few more moments, it would be Nina. Speaking of such things, she may also be the only one for who the 'let me kiss you against this wall so that they dont spot us' scenario might actually work (in theory), or at least give her enough time to incapacitate them during their confusion since she tends to be quite loud appearance wise. Likes being attended to and coddled, and no kiss has a chance without a firm grab or two. Will die if you do a tango dip with her in your arms. She is one of the biggest fans of mistletoes and finds it extremely romantic. Sometimes, when she is invited to watch a play or show, she will turn around and kiss her partner whenever the actors do. "Consider me madly in love. With the kisses, not you. ... But maybe also you if you did it again."
MATTHIAS BENEDIK HELVAR
And finally, we have our romantic-at-heart of the group, Matthias. Now, his and Ninas romance is the most obvious and out-in-the-open throughout the whole duology, and frankly he is the one I had the most trouble with writing, but the difference between seeing their first kiss from Ninas perspective and the one of Matthias is that theirs was his first kiss ever. All of his actions leading up to it, as well as those after, are a promise in some way or another, and Im not only talking about his vow to her. Nothing could have prepared me for when he lifted Nina straight off her feet and held her there as he kissed her, yet it was also the most in-character thing he ever could have done.
Matthias will absolutely, every time, start an hour long conversation on what led him to this moment, if it is the right time, the right place, the right everything... He will continue up until he himself is basically internally shouting at his own mouth to shut itself (he has very low patience despite everything mentioned above) or his partner takes the initiative themselves. The second option is prefered by both parties and a 5-star whine is the expected plus-one to excellent service. He is the type to gulp when you get too close. Will go mad if you can tell when he is holding on by a thread despite his lack of many facial expressions, especially if told something along the lines of "Just lose control, love".
He is particularly sensitive for textures. All humans are to some extent, the lips have more nerve endings in them than fingertips, but Matthias is the one who is fullfilled by it the most and frequently says stuff related to it like "Are you wearing chapstick?" or "I can feel the dip of your scar". Often acknowledges indirect kisses. Matthias has once said that kissing isnt about romance, that it should be proper and only done as a follow up to a conventional Fjerdan courtship, and while lots about him has changed during his canonical relationship with Nina, I think he might still enjoy going through at least some of these with somebody who might appreciate his efforts. Matthias is still highly religious even if he is now seeing the world from another perspective and there are some cultural things that for him go deeper than just tradition. In a very specific headcanon of mine, he has grown up fantasizing about having to lift up your chin to do it, and so now he does so even with taller partners who can reach his mouth just fine.
He would 100% take the 'Will you love me if I was a worm' jokes way too seriously. "How am I supposed to handle a worm? I could hold a butterfly, maybe kiss you if you were a wolf (but thats after a very extensive inspection of your molars)". Kisses the back of your neck after putting on a necklace. Pretends that lipstick stains dont turn him on to the highest setting.

Why is Sirius on your brain SO much?
Explain in Mario terms
make my brain go -flag pole noise-
haha okay but actually here we go. this is disorganized and more me vomiting my thoughts out and making you look at him but yknow.
the black hole server: the most soul sucking and messed up place to live since america
Tumblr media
thanks for the insightful commentary, buddy
so sirius lives the life of the average True Gamer, in a dark hole full of anime figurines and merchandise or whatever. he likes adding to that collection and then fucking around with it because bloodsport really never died to him. who cares what ign had to say.
unfortunately, like all gamers, his home is not hospitable to most life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
weaker em beings apparently “enervate and die” within the server. thats delightfully fucked up, and honestly, a vast empty, dark, cold space that sucks the life out of pretty much everything around it and is only truly habitable to one lifeform is an insanely cool idea that i always love.
Tumblr media
uh…. roche limit????
obviously, with such an unfriendly gamer den, sirius himself does not get a lot of company.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we’ll come back to this next section.
but basically the black hole server is a really cool idea and location that really serves to emphasize what an outside-context issue sirius is. he feels very “other” in this world, in part thanks to where hes made his home.
with friends like these, who needs mega man?
sirius has some… interesting ideas about what is good and reasonable for people. or what constitutes a healthy platonic relationship. actually just relationships in general.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think its interesting he jumped straight to this with mega man, when he also harbored apollo flame, who was pretty damn open about his intentions to eventually usurp and subjugate sirius
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHICH SIRIUS WAS AWARE OF BTW
Tumblr media
apollo flame! oh, you, always on about taking over the universe!
this is weird to say, with what we know about sirius in general and his personality (which we’ll be getting to soon) but… theres this pervasive sense that he views the Rs as a mix between pawns and, like, his perverse version of “friends”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the use of “our” here is interesting, along with the implication that sirius shares more information with them than he actually needs to
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the fact that sirius has the tendency to start talking to himself in the middle of a conversation…
Tumblr media
and the fact that he enforces a friendly relationship between those who dont get along…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
theres just a weird sense of sirius “playing” with dynamics, and while its certainly useful to him, its easy to imagine a hint of curiousity in there. the exploration of one of the only things that cant be taken by force.
of course you have blue skin and pronouns
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at him. look at him. hes based on a squid. hes got that squid drip. i think sirius would be into deep sea life. im choosing to view this as an in-character choice. he likes squid now, okay?
also. he canonically sparkles. LOOK AT HIM. LOOK AT THIS SPARKLING SQUID TWINK. GOD. HE MAKES ME INSANE.
i also dont know where else to mention this, but hey what was up with mu metal. is he tied to mu. what was that about lmao. bro got pica.
he has 97 mental illnesses and is banned from most public spaces
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he is so fucking stupid😭
the main, and final, thing i want to bring up is his extreme case of blue and orange morality. because being rude is worse than destroying a planet to him.
from here on out ill be using direct quotes since i actually have access to these and writing and ive hit image limit. what can i say theres so much i want you to look at.
Sirius: ... I don't need that rude EM being for my collection.
and
Sirius: I was hoping to enjoy watching everyone on the planet panic for a bit... But I suppose destroying it outright would be fun too.
back to back is an interesting display of standards. but id go further and argue that… sirius doesnt really act with malice.
MegaMan: Peoples lives... Planets... They aren't toys for you to play with. Have you even considered the pain you are putting all those people down there though? Sirius: Everything here will cease to exist. A black hole has no need for such things as emotions. You should... be happy. You will live forever within the darkness. You will be mine. MegaMan: I wouldn't call that living! I'd rather not exist! Sirius: ...I see. Do you think that you might change your mind? Stopping you without causing you any injury would be a bit of a nuisance to me. It will be hard for us to play together with you injured.
and you could argue that this is an attempt at persuasion… except that sirius doesnt really need that. hes pretty confident in his ability to win a fight, so id argue this is genuinely just how he thinks. his fascination with destroying things is processed not with malicious intent but the same perverse curiosity that drives a child to pour water on an ant hill.
mean spirited? yeah, but its all in good fun to him.
hes the living version of all those jokes about a person who never talks to other people or goes outside or anything. hes had his own little bubble to develop the most deranged moral compass and interal narrative of all time.
tl;dr - ITS HARD TO NOT THINK ABOUT HIM A LOT

helloo :)
i’m new to your blog and I really like it! i saw that ur open to asks?
there’s been something on my mind recently. i appreciate any advice you have.
for some time now, there have been a lot of derogatory autism-jokes, misinformation, stereotypes circulating around my school. as part of a “c.a.s” related venture (service-as-action towards my community), I want to do something about this, as it’s really bothering me.
as to why it’s bothering me, im really affected by injustice and ignorance in the world, it’s something I find hard to let go of. and I think I might be audhd or in some way neurodivergent and I guess advocating/learning about neurodiversity has become one of my special interests.
all that aside, I’m unsure how to approach this. I feel like simply holding a “psa” that explains what autism is and de-bunks stereotypes isn’t realistically going to help change the minds of a bunch of teenagers and stop the hate. What can I actually do by myself to create change in some manner?
tysmm:)    (also, if you can see my username, id appreciate it if it wasn’t shared with your audience.)
Greetings & I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible ask. /g
The world needs more awareness & more non-ableist information about autism & we need to stop the hate & injustice & ignorance against us. Not all autistic people are able to raise their voices against the system because of many reasons, which is why we have to stand together as a whole - including every autistic person, taking different perspectives in (e.g. non-speaking autistics are often excluded, which is SO wrong in SO MANY ways). I could write another million words about it.
Yes, I think simply giving a lecture is not the solution to get heard & listened to. It's difficult to give a specific advice here, but if you are already part of a group that wants to change something or at least give support - that's something.
If you are autistic & safe 'to be like you are', consider the following, because that is what I do.
Unmask your traits, explore them & express them. TAKE UP SPACE. Be open with your struggles, respect your way of being & your way of experiencing the world. It's hard work, even if you are supported. //I was not supported & I was not able to disclose that I am autistic at first & I still am not able to publicly, but I still try to advocate for my needs & try to build my confidence.//
Talk about your traits. Start a blog online about it. If you can, raise awareness in some way, like I do. It can comfort others & maybe inspire (that is what I wish for with my work). If you can't do that (which is totally valid), support the people who do so, share their work. Also do tons of research, get as much knowledge as you can so you can fight stereotypes.
If you want to support us, work with us. Support us. Stop hate & bullying when you see it. Stop negative talk about autism when you hear it. Make existing ableism visible.
Also, if you want to support us & you're not autistic yourself:
Respect our need for accomodations & reasonable adjustments
Support us & RESPECT US when we are not masking, support & respect the ones who can't mask, the ones that are non-verbal, the ones with other disabilities - RESPECT THE WHOLE SPECTRUM
Support us when we can't work or be 'productive'
Listen to us & believe us when we tell about our experiences
Support us when we struggle to communicate, when we miss cues & don't assume we're rude
Do not belittle us, regardless of how high our support needs is - they can change from day to day
Do not JUDGE us for not living according to the standard allistics are used to.
Instead, try to make the world more accessible for us.
I hope I was able to give some input! (I definitely haven't covered all)

It's been said, before, and I think anyone remotely familiar with open-source has experienced or heard it but I'm still always taken aback by how much technological infrastructure was built to be general-purpose and malleable by the common user and how much corporations obfuscated and erased this.
Even in the tagging system for .mp3 files – ID3, an open standard –, I'm finding all kinds of functionality they accounted for that makes a lot of sense for a music file to specify (like lyrics synch.ed to timestamps and being able to specify events in the song like the outro or intro or the refrain or an interlude).
And I was just completely unaware of them because no music player on Windows ever offered them (alright; I mostly used iTunes, at the time, but the point stands).
iTunes saves any ratings you apply to songs in its own database; I never used the system in part because I've never found a need but, primarily, because I didn't want to invest a bunch of time and effort into something I'd lose the second I switched music players.
Oh; but did you know ID3 (v2) has a rating tag? One that iTunes could have used and then I'd take my ratings wherever I take my files with me?
Not only that but rating for a song are marked by an E-mail of the person rating; I expect it was largely to provide a unique identifier of some sort (and very 90s/00s to assume an E-mail is one's primary form of unique ID) but that means that songs can be rated by multiple people.
When your friends give you a copy of their favorite songs on a USB drive, those songs would've had their ratings.
Like a lot of tech. (especially early) architecture, this part fails to account for the presence of bad actors and spam but it also means you could reach out to those who rated the song, before you; their E-mail's right there.
Back when we traded AOL handles and the notion of communicating with those you knew but weren't nearby was exciting and new, we could have reached out to the friend of a friend of a friend at school who'd rated the song before handing it off until it reached us.
Even – now –, accounting for not wanting to attach your E-mail to a file that you'd, then, have to worry about getting into hands which might abuse that personal info. about you, being able for multiple people to tag a song is cool.
If I setup a Raspberry Pi at home and setup the Music Player Daemon on it for Jude and I to both put our songs on to listen to, etc., we could both tag the songs with our ratings and see what the other thought of the music we were sharing.
Like…this is some cool functionality ideas; this is some nice architecture. You just need the players to implement the functionality.
But they didn't; iTunes setup their own rating system (whether to tie people to their music player or not, I have no idea) and I never bothered to use what could be a sort of communal feature.
When I get excited about tech., these are the things that initially drew me to it – the ability to not only make my life, as a spoonie, easier but the ability to make all kinds of stuff we do everyday easier and with more people and to connect us all even more.
From the ability to making things more accessible without having to rely on others as much for it to…I dunno; the possibilities are endless.
Instead, the sheer joy so many of my generation had at creating their personal web pages by playing around with HTML and CSS became harder to construct because these businesses didn't care to make these experiences accessible because they didn't make them money.
I will never not be angry about that.
In any case, I'm at the point where anything further I might say is something I've already said before here on the subject; but I'm going to have these other tags be more accessible in my player. There's some really neat functionality in there that someone might want to utilize if presented in a more user-friendly manner (the original job of the music player implementations, to begin with…).

3 Common Misconception: HIPAA Edition
(aka I have HIPAA tattooed under my eyelids and I want to make it everyone else’s problem)
This is pedantic, but the act protecting your health information is HIPAA, not HIPPA. One ‘p’, two ‘a’s. HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, not the oft-quoted (and non-existent) Health Information Privacy & Protection Act. Not a huge deal, since it protects your health information regardless, but it’s a pretty decent metric to mark if someone actually knows what they’re talking about.
HIPAA protects you from employees of healthcare organizations sharing your information without your consent.  HIPAA violations occur when someone who has access to your medical information *as part of their job* either a) purposely accesses information outside of their job requirements b) shares your health information without your consent or c) puts health information in a position where it can be improperly accessed by others, purposefully or not. You can shout your medical information to the hills. People who you've told your medical information to can shout it to the hills, so long as they didn’t get that information through their job. People can demand that you share your information--but your doctor can’t hand it over without your consent.
Exceptions to HIPAA exist. There's quite a few of them, actually, and I’ve made a detailed list below the cut; but to correct the biggest misconception: yes, there are situations where health care employees are required to share your information with the government. This typically falls under mandatory reporting (think child abuse, gunshot wounds, or highly infectious diseases), but your information can also be accessed via warrant or subpoena for criminal proceedings.
Here is the government’s webpage breaking down the HIPAA Privacy Rule if you want to know more! I love love love HIPAA and will gladly talk about it for as long as anyone will let me (hence the cut below).
Detailed breakdown of HIPAA exceptions under the cut:
TPO: This stands for Treatment, Payment and Operations, because if your health info was on complete lockdown, no healthcare entity could function. Employees can access/share your info when that info is necessary for them to...
Provide treatment (ie: your nurse can share your info with your doctor)
Receive payment (ie: giving your info to your insurance company)
Maintain operations (ie: health data/medical records staff. This is me--as a health systems analyst, I can’t do my job without access to the data within the medical records system)
Public Interest: ie: when required by law/governmental function. This includes:
Mandatory reporting (discussed above. Healthcare professionals are required to report infectious diseases like measles or rabies, as well as incidents like gunshot wounds or domestic violence.)
Health oversight activities. These are the organizations who evaluate and investigate whether a facility meets safety/performance regulations and standards. Trust me, you want your info shared with these folks!!
Law Enforcement. I’m going to be really specific here, because there’s been a lot of (justifiable) concern post-Roe v Wade. Your info can be shared if it is is…
Subpoenaed, court ordered, or court-ordered warrant by a court, judge, or administrative tribunal
Requested by law enforcement to id a suspect, fugitive, witness, or missing person
Requested by law enforcement for info about a victim/suspected victim of crime
To alert law enforcement of a person’s death if the organization believes a crime has occurred
If the healthcare organization believes the information is evidence of a crime that occurred on its premises.
In emergency situations, providers can share information about the nature of a crime, the location of crime/victims, and the perpetrator of the crime.
Decedents: Funeral directors, coroners, and medical examiners all need your info to do their jobs, Being deceased, you can’t give your authorization, so an healthcare org sharing your info with them is not a HIPAA violation
Organ/Eye/Tissue donation: pretty self-explanatory. Some of your information as a donor might be shared to ensure a healthy transplant.
Research (limited data sets): This one tends to freak people out, but if you’re on one of these, anything that can identify you is removed (name, address, etc.). Instead, details of specific conditions/treatments are stored to provide data for researchers. For example, every state has, by law, a cancer registry--used to identify sudden spikes that might be attributable to environmental factors.
Serious threats to health/safety. If a serious, specific threat is made against a person or the public, this can be shared with law enforcement and the person who the threat is made against. There’s a lot of grey area here in what counts as a specific threat, and this can get complicated quickly, but if someone tells a medical professional that they are planning on harming you, you will be notified alongside law enforcement. Likewise for a bomb or other public threat.
Essential government functions. If you are in prison or other correctional facility, you are not protected by HIPAA. Some government benefit programs will require the disclosure of health information. (It also includes national security and military missions).
And last, but not least: worker’s compensation. Healthcare orgs have to share parts of your information for you to receive worker’s comp, as part of the verification process. Fantastic!

Hey edwad, hope you're having a good day. I remember a few years back you had a reading list divided into different 'levels' (beginner, intermediate, advanced) for understanding Marxism; I also remember that you don't rate this list very highly any more. I was wondering if, amongst your reading lists, you have a reading list you'd particularly recommend for "beginners"? Maybe like a top 10 list of books by Marx and other people building on him? Thanks in advance for your help if you have time to answer this & thank you for the work you share with us here!
ive been sitting on this ask for a while sorta frustrated bc ive released tons of reading lists over the course of several years but they're often not very good (like that one you mention lol) or my ideas have changed so much that earlier attempts at offering a particular pathway to approaching marx and the literature around him becomes untenable (probably almost everything i posted until 2016 or so id say). this isn't perfect by any means but here's a kind of rough outline for now of things that ive found useful with some amount of consistency as ive grown more comfortable in my reading of marx.
1. the worldly philosophers - robert heilbroner
doesn't actually have to be heilbroner necessarily, but i think having a decent overview of the history of economic thought before marx in your head will do a lot for you (rubin's is great too, if you're looking to do a deep dive). in heilbroner's case, it's probably fine to stop at the marx chapter (which is bad) if that's all you're working toward. optionally, if you feel like you ought to read some intellectual-biographical information on marx and how he relates to political economy, you can probably get away with ernest mandel's the formation of the economic thought of karl marx or (even better imo, but less beginner friendly) allen oakley's the making of marxs critical theory. and of course eventually heinrich's marx bio once he gets further in. all that being said, i wouldn't really dissuade you from reading all of heilbroner (or whatever other history of econ you might read) either, especially since the history of economic thought doesn't end with marx!
2. an introduction to the three volumes of karl marxs capital - michael heinrich
no surprise here, this is the standard for bringing people into the fold. it gripped me when i first read it back in ~2017 and i haven't let go since. as i have typically said, to me it reads more like an intervention rather than an introduction, so some familiarity with the secondary literature would benefit you (if only to know what heinrich is talking about/arguing against when he's going on about worldview marxism and substantialism). i feel like alex callinicos' the revolutionary ideas of karl marx is an incredibly good primer for this purpose, ie a book which makes the classical case for the incredibly stubborn kinds of things that marxists often believe. so in a sense, if you don't know what heinrich and others are talking about, read some callinicos and you'll have a better idea of what heinrich is pushing back against. but don't confuse this with an endorsement for callinicos lol he sucks and his book is bad.
3. value - frederick harry pitts
this is part of a series on political economy and this particular book is meant to be an overview of theories of value and what they try to do, but at its core is an argument about the ambivalence of the theory of value at the heart of marx's critique of political economy and what its implications are. pitts does a great job of making the case for a relational/field theory of value in marx contra the substantialist/conservation theory of value which is also in marx but is a lingering artifact from his failure to completely break with the political economists before him. heinrich gets cited a bunch so it's a pretty natural transition out of his capital intro, but it really hones in on this particular element and teases some things out that aren't in heinrich while still basically being a kind of popular political economy book. once heinrich's science of value comes out in english, it'll offer the fuller argument for those wanting to know more about this stuff.
4. there's no such thing as the economy - sam chambers
putting the heilbroner aside for a moment, this and the 2 books before it constitute a kind of holy trinity for me in terms of introducing people to this particular kind of reading of marx and what it means. chambers' tiny book is made up of 3 chapters, the first being a pretty concrete (almost journalistic) telling of the evils of wells fargo but the last 2 are ultimately concerned with marx as a kind of genealogist of classical political economy and making a case for a particular kind of reading which describes what it does as "value form theory", in a specific sense while offering a brief history about what that means and who it draws from as influences (heinrich's work, yes, but also rubin's essays on marxs theory of value and pashukanis' law & marxism: a general theory, which could both easily be on this list as well!). this book, and the lecture which led me to it (on "the labor theory of value as a capitalist fairy tale" which is on youtube), has had a pretty massive impact on me and ive since been encouraging everyone on earth to read it, which is made easier by the fact that the publisher (punctum books) offers the ebook for free online. i'll also be doing a panel with him and soren mau (author of mute compulsion) next month for red may so by the time you (or anyone else reading this) decides to check it out, there might be a video online of me talking to him about the book! which is exciting.
5. marx's inferno - william clare roberts
this is an extremely frustrating book for me because i think the primary marxological thrust of the book (that marxs exposition in v1 of capital is deliberately structured after dante's inferno) is ridiculous. i also think that the political case that WCR wants to make (that marx was a heterodox owenite/radical republican) is interesting, and probably even correct, but doesn't really convince me to care or share that exact political vision. what the book does INSANELY well though is to contextualize marx's capital in the debates of the socialist literature at the time and especially to hammer out marxs relationship to proudhon. in the meantime, the inferno stuff makes for entertaining and even sometimes illuminating literary dress, but can be neatly separated from the rest without any harm. the republican stuff, again, is probably fine marxology on its own, but can also be read negatively as a critique of domination (ie, as having some particular political implications) without it necessarily meaning we all ought to copy marx's specific political vision simply because he held one. WCR, as a kind of crypto-althusserian, also has the benefit of wanting to avoid some of the typical hegel-ese one might usually encounter in a book like this so instead he is forced to make his arguments in a much clearer way (more or less beginner friendly), if sometimes a little awkward for those of us that know there are perfectly good words he's deliberately trying to avoid. anyway, i let the inferno stuff put me off to this book for too long but when i read it i was mad at myself because of how good it really is.
so this is i guess like a "top 5" of sorts (with plenty of optional/follow-up reading thrown in lol), but the unifying principle is getting the most out of marx's critique of political economy so none of this really stands as a replacement to the real thing. ultimately i recommend reading capital, especially alongside heinrich's new how to read marx's capital which was published last year and generated a lot of good discussion for my own reading group when we used it in the fall/winter.
if i wanted to, i could add more that are increasingly beginner unfriendly (postone's time labor and social domination immediately comes to mind) as well as several books that i love to recommend but maybe don't contribute as much toward orienting yourself to a particular reading of marx (geoff mann's in the long run we are all dead is a long-time favorite of mine on keynesianism from a marxy perspective that i think everyone even remotely politically serious should read, if i can indulge just a little), however the list would lose its coherence and probably quickly turn into something way more demanding than anyone could (or would want to) read.
so there you have it, hope this is useful

What are your favourite blorbos/ships and how did you get into them?
Ps. Hope you feel better soon :D
ohohohoh this was such a great question and ill have you know it made me so happy to walk around work just thinking about my blorbos and getting to share them 😭
im gonna put a read more because fair warning i have a lot to say ajshsjdhks
OKAY SO first off (and a surprise to no one) luke skywalker is my ultimate blorbo. my special guy. and it’s funny cause i grew up knowing of star wars, watching the movies with my older siblings, but i never really cared about it- it wasn’t until years later i even thought about watching the movies again and it was only because my sister pressured me into watching the mandalorian and i fell in love. and then i decided to rewatch the original trilogy and that was it. the movies just found me at such a perfect spot in my life to really dig into my brain and not let go- it was year two of the pandemic, i had no friend whatsoever and a day to day that just left me feeling dull, ya know? and then all of the sudden there were these old movies about hope. about being able to become more than the sum of your parts. there was luke. luke really just embodies that feeling of hope that i was so without. and i think it’s those set of circumstances and then me just being a big science fiction/space nerd in general really made luke my perfect star wars blorbo. and then add dinluke into that!!! i could go on and on about dinluke (and i have) but fundamentally i think it’s the dynamic of these two powerful people who carry these two, seemingly opposing ideals coming together and finding that they have more in common and more to offer each other than either ever thought they’d receive is just *chefs kiss*
MOVING ON TO katniss everdeen! my first and forever blorbo. i know i don’t hunger games post here a lot but thg and katniss were both really big parts of my development. the hunger games introduced me to fandom and fanfic and katniss introduced me to the mindset of never giving up. no matter when you feel like you already have, you never give up. that small acts of bravery are just as important as big ones. she inspired me to stick up for myself and feel courageous, to shoot a bow and wear my hair in a braid far too often. to look out for those i love with all i can give. i love her strength and her wit and how she is smart and so dumb and young all at the same time. and her and peeta as a couple i think just really set the standard of love to me. like after everything, all the fighting and death, they choose to live for each other. they help each other live for themselves. that you don’t have to be someone else when your with the right person. that you can be vulnerable and ask real or not real?
NEXT IN LINE is mickey milkovich from shameless. i am rotating him around in my mind CONSTANTLY. its safe to say that he was my favourite character on the show and his penchant for crime, swearing and anger really struck a chord with me. he’s a character that feels so much but is rarely given the chance to express it. he’s constantly going against the odds and trying to do what’s right. it may not be right, or legal for that matter, but it’s still what he believes. he’s a character that’s gone through so much pain and suffering and is still able to flip off the world. he gives me the confidence to say fuck you to people who are treating me poorly and smile because i know that the parts of me they judge and think are weak are the parts that make me swing back harder. he’s violent, he’s gross, he’s pathetic and he’s one tough motherfucker and shit if getting to see him get a happy ending, get to be out and to get someone who loves him as he is for all those reasons didn’t make me hope id get that one day too. (DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED OF GALLAVICH. REALLY DONT. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THEY ARE A GOD TEIR OTP AND NOBODY DOES IT LIKE THEM ALL THE OTHER SHIPS OUT THERE DONT EVEN COME CLOSE)
NOW WE HAVE nadja from what we do in the shadows! what can i say about nadja apart from the fact that she is simply, and always will be, the vibe. i am holding her in my hand and she will bite my palm and then maybe kiss me a bit. i am obsessed with her. she deserves it. but more than that!! nadja is just so unapologetically herself and her ambition and humour are unmatched, but she also has such a sweet soft side that i can’t help but just scream and cry and throw things around my room. she is also a vampire and that is so fucking cool. she’s a leader, she’s a dumbass, she’s going to rip people throats out and honestly? she’s everything i want to be when i grow up. and her and lazlo are just goals. like the speech he gives about not caring about what anyone thought about her when he married her because none of that mattered to him like she did?? dead. im dead.
AND LASTLY a newer blorbo entering the ring- jamie tartt from ted lasso! now, i will gleefully admit i hated jamie through season one and much through season two but holy shit did ted lasso pull off a redemption like nothing ive ever seen before. really and truly, i did not expect to connect with jamie as much as i did. the last season but the character growth and storylines they gave him that shed some light onto why he was the way he was and how they connected so many things in with the earlier seasons that just made you see things in an entirely different way??? like he’s still a cocky prick, but he’s a cocky prick you can’t help but love and cheer for. and the scene where he tells roy that he’s just anxious and tired all the time really fucking hit home for me, even when they did end up playing it off as a bit of a joke, i just felt that moment so deep in my bones and funny little manchester-man jamie earned himself a spot in my brain.
OKAY IM DONE NOW thank you so so much for the ask and i apologize for the behemoth that this post became but GAH i just love my blorbos!! and thank you for the well-wishes! im finally home from work and am feeling better:)

No hate to jimin, I love him to death, but I do find him quite boring too, music and stages aside cause they are always great. I find it funny that people call him it boy and he’s always number 1 in that influence ranking or whatever that is, when he doesn’t care about social media and his style outside the stage is quite basic (not every clothing ofc, and there’s nothing wrong with basic, i’m a basic myself). And I think part of this high standard people put him is due to the way his solo stans see him, not to be patronizing but I think a lot of them only see him as this sexy guy and don’t care about one word he says or sings, as long as he’s making numbers and being their it boy.
right like. like i don’t necessarily agree with all your point like his styling - i think jimin has a rly fun and leisurely sense of style that’s yeah not super flashy but he knows how to dress and what looks good on him - but like. jimin is one of my biases yes but im also rly comfortable admitting that he’s BASIC as HELL and that’s FINE. he’s the It Boy of my heart but the guy obviously seems to want as little social presence as possible. hes never on social media, he keeps his private life to himself, he doesn’t share what he’s into save for the very rare occasion he shares something offhandedly. n there IS this weird expectation and assumption of casual and continued social presence from fans that simply isn’t there….. like sure he has the influence of what would make an It Boy but that really only comes from how popular he is rather than any remarkable or sustained presence. and again, its totally fine! privacy and normalcy are obviously things that are really important to him. this too i think goes back to what jimin has spoken abt on his relationship with fame and identity and whats reflected in most of his work so far. and like. i don’t wanna be a downer and pretend i know anything about what he thinks. but if it were ME putting my all into my work like he does and the only thing my fans took away from it was a minimal interaction i had with my coworker and how it was proof we’re fucking or smt or every time i went online i see ppl talking about how ugly they find me like YEAH i wouldn’t want to share much about my life on the internet either and id probably have a really warped and fractured sense of my personhood. idk its very much in the same lane of kpop stans claiming their fave is buff or has an ass like he DOESNT he doesn’t and its OK you don’t need to lie to urself …. why not pay attention to the stuff that they actually do or the way they actually are instead of treating this like fanfiction. i think some fans DO need to be patronized tbh bcs the way they view their faves is itself patronizing even if they might mean well.

I’m not gonna lie, these past few months I’ve been really questioning my love for the band. I say that meaning as a black woman a lot of the shit that’s been going around is just kind of hard to hear whether it’s true or not. And I don’t really know what to believe lol. I love the band so much but I can’t tell if my hesitation to accept is truly because I don’t believe he could do that or if it’s just like obsession on my part. I don’t know if any of that made sense. I just feel iffy about everything right now
Disclaimer: this is gonna be long. Sorry if you were just looking to vent and I made it into a whole thing. Won’t be offended if you just….ignored lmao.
Hey, babe. I’m sorry to hear that it’s been rough for you. Sending you hugs.
I know how you feel, or at least, I empathize because I went through something similar way back when the podcast was originally released. In Feb? March? Something like that. Like way before the Taylor stuff and way before tabloids and all that.
When that happened, I was talking about the podcast with someone on Reddit and they mentioned Matty’s “Islamophobia” and how as a Muslim I shouldn’t support him. And, my gut instinct was to be like “you have no idea what you’re talking about.” But the comment lingered in the back of my head for a long time. I’m not saying that your experience is the same and I don’t mean to reduce your identity to simply “marginalized” in the name of intersectionality or the common grounds that you and I might share. Being a black woman is different. I’m middle eastern and a hijab wearer (though I don’t feel comfortable saying I’m ‘white’ when my ‘whiteness’ was only decided on by the courts in 1972 cuz they didn’t want to admit that Jesus isn’t white but that’s a whole other issue lmao). But I will share what my experience has been in case there’s anything of value in it for you.
Like I said, the comment lingered with me for a while. I’m a literature and philosophy double major, and as FUCKIN pretentious as that is (seriously, super pretentious) I pride myself on sharp judgement. So, even if I weren’t Muslim, id still be shaken by such comments. And the accusations of him being queer-phobic or racist or sexist also made me feel shaken. I’d be ashamed of myself if a simple celebrity-fan relationship with a straight white dude prevented me from using all the training I learned at school to make the right judgement simply cuz he has nice hair or whatever, you know? it was a jarring moment. Like would I really wanna be complicit in my own oppression like that?
So, I decided to sit with it for a few weeks and think about it. Do my own “research” and look at interviews and online posts and stage performances where he’s done the things that people have accused him of doing. Hear arguments from both sides, then see how I feel after all that.
Here is the conclusion that I came to. Matty has certain blind spots due to his privilege. Not in a standard “he’s a cis het white guy in his 30s so he’s obviously privileged.” That’s true but that’s not it. I think with him it’s kinda more specific. For example, in the GQ 40+ minute video interview where he was praised for not being hyper masculine and being comfortable with wearing skirts and stuff, the interviewer followed her praise up with “don’t you think it’s hard being a man these days with all these conflicting ideas about masculinity” And he said “well, hold on a minute, isn’t it hard being a woman? I’m just thinking out loud here isn’t it hard being a human ?”
i see where he was going with this but I disagree pretty strongly. Even if you piece it together with stuff he has said in other interviews. Like in the Ion Pack Podcast. On the topic of masculinity he said “I’m not trying to make a political statement about gender when I wear skirts or dresses. Fuckin hate that the media writes about it that way. Like have you seen any musician ever??? It’s all been done before. You could make a coffee table book out of rock and roll artists wearing women’s clothing. Especially when you think about people who lived in New York (the pod was recorded in New York so I think that’s why he said that) at the time. And who WERE gay and who WERE black. And they were true outcasts and died for it. And you wanna give me credit? I hate that.” So the hosts were talking about how that political or whatever so, later on in the pod he said “I’m not seeing it from a right wing or leftist stand point. It’s not women’s rights or black rights or gay rights. To me, it’s humanity. Were all human beings shouldn’t we all be equal? Shouldn’t equality be something we all want?”
Do you see why I’m saying he’s privileged? Only a privileged person would say that. Like, he says these things because he was lucky enough to grow up in a pretty well to do upper middle class family and has always talked about how his parents had black friends and queer friends and he would see two men kissing on his living room couch when he was young and never bat an eye so he didn’t know it was “controversial” until he grew up and stuff. “I just keep thinking ‘who cares? But it turns out people do care.”
And he always says “artists signpost towards utopia.” Which is his goal I suppose. So it’s easy for him to say it’s not about black or white. Man or woman etc. and yeah as humans there are common grounds. sure masculinity is a struggle these days but ITS A DIFFERENT KIND OF STRUGGLE from femininity and womanhood. So let’s not equate them or say that they’re similar. That’s kinda reductive. I appreciate the sentiment that we should be motivated by universal humanity, but I don’t think that’s enough. You know? Those are separate problems that require separate solutions. Yes they overlap. Yes there’s a common ground here (white supremacy and patriarchy) that oppress us all, but acknowledging difference (gender, racial, social, sexual etc) is ESSENTIAL, in my view. Maybe it’s not in his view. In any case, I believe that’s why he does / says what he does.
Same with the nepo baby thing. I see where he’s coming from but I disagree strongly with him. He’s never worked a real job or had to struggle with money so he doesn’t get it. He’s gotta learn that most humans realities aren’t the same as his. He got really lucky. He gets that in the most basic/ obvious sense. Like sometimes he’ll say “as an English white guy who am I to talk about this” or “yeah Britain colonized the whole world but I’m not speaking as a British guy just as a human being.” But I think the subtler more implicit ways that his privilege has affected his worldview aren’t always clear to him.
But does all that mean that he’s secretly racist, bigoted, sexist, etc and he “showed his true colors” on that pod? In my view: no. If he were secretly bigoted, why would he go out of his way to make songs like JC2005, Loving Someone, People, Love It If We Made It, Looking For Somebody (to love) etc. ? Why would he stand at the Brits and use his speech time to read an excerpt from a woman’s article about how sexist the industry is? Why would he go out of his way to talk IN ALABAMA about the abortion ban at the time? Does this seem like a bigoted person’s behavior? He’s repeatedly rejected opportunities to go mainstream and make a shit ton of money precisely BECAUSE going mainstream would mean that he wouldn’t be able to do that sort of thing. He doesn’t have a publicist or an executive board at DH for a reason. As an artist, he sees that his work is influenced by the world around him so he can’t separate between the two and not feel like part of the problem. Like he criticized Imagine Dragons for that. He even criticized Taylor Swift for her 2019 marketing of Lover. This is the woman that he’s supposedly been in love with for a while.
I think those things are a better representation of who Matty truly is. He’s not perfect. Even his utopian thinking about equality is flawed in itself. But he’s a human being doing his best to be part of the solution and to honor the responsibility that comes with his platform. He’s seeing a problem in society and thinking what his role as an artist is and what he can do to help fix it.
He fucks up sometimes. And sometimes he knows he’s fucked up and tries to deal with it. Other times he needs it pointed out to him cuz of his blind spots. But more often than not he gets it right. And he’s not entirely wrong about how wokeness has become performative, either. Lol. We do need a better system. But his alternative of like transcending our differences and moving into universal humanity isn’t super helpful as a basis. It might be appropriate SOMETIMES. It’s certainly true that bigotry dehumanizes its victims. Treating marginalized people as less than is what enables bigots to do what they do. If white supremacists thought of us as their equals they wouldn’t be able to hold the belief that they are better than most of the rest of the world lol. So, the reminder that “we’re all human” or as he would put it “we’re all human we’re just like you man.” Etc. is nice. Like yeah ok But not as a blanket approach. That’s the place from which Matty operates and maybe he has a tendency to think that because common humanity is so obvious and everyone agrees with it, then surely everyone understands he’s doing what he does in good faith?
That, in my view, is the extent of his problem. He’s not the vile, “rancid” or whatever else the haters in my askbox and mentions and hashtags have been saying he is. Show me a white artist who GENUINELY puts his money where his mouth is when it comes to this stuff more than Matty. He’s a good person and his intentions are noble. His way of going about it though….needs some repairs. In short, he’s a smart person. He’s aware of how oppressive the world around him is. He’s trying to do something about it. But he fucks up. A lot of what he’s trying to stand up for isn’t his own experience. And sometimes he fails to see the limitations of his view cuz of course he does.
If none of that his helpful to you, you can always remove Matty from the experience of the music. I think Harry Potter fans have done a pretty good job of that. They won’t stand for J K Rowling’s bigotry, but the franchise is such a big part of them that they’ve separated the two. Won’t even watch the remake cuz she stands to profit from it. They made their own fandom that has nothing to do with her and sometimes is actively against her when appropriate. You could adopt the same approach if you love the music and it means so much to you.
Or you could just throw it all away if it causes you too much stress. I would say follow your gut. Your heart and your brain might sometimes not be accurate. Your gut will always be right. If it just doesn’t feel right to you/ doesn’t square with who you are, then to hell with it.
From one “minority” fan to another, I’m not black. I don’t know what it’s like to be black and I never will. But I wholeheartedly believe that you’re valued in the fandom and loved and you make it better by being in it. So, I’m sending you my love and I’m always here for you. That’s all. 💗

how are people "removed from your internet" like why did ian say that between israel & him i would nmver have to worry about michael again because they removed him from my internet. every time i look him up it generates a page not found image & im wondering if henry had anything to do with this because he would do shit like that, instagating my behavior & then calling me dangerous. its like, a very well known tactic & my therapist told me young men do this when they want to feel vindicated as a victim without being willing to share that title so they start pushing you when they know youre mentally ill & then call you dangerous. i shouldnt be worried about what that type of male thinks of me because i honestly feel really scared of what hes capable of pushing me towards & then acting so innocent. especially since he is thin & reserved. that automatically would make any male cop feel like a million bucks for defending him.
i cant believe my life turned into me talking myself down from hanging myself at the park across the street because a toxic mysoginist wont answer my calls.
yes i made a fucking attempt to look you up every new account i made because the alternative is that your friends are literally on my shit controlling the page returns & controlling what i do & do not have access to. that is scary as fuck. not to mention im the second autistic person that toxic ass dude has done this to, making his unchecked ableism just even more dangerous to the next person like me he unwittingly targets.
i hope he never recieves romantic satisfaction or feels loved ever again. may we suffer as one forever get him out of my head & let me feel my coffee high please
not to mention the worst part thus far is i'd put it down 99% on his friends, i mean i would fuck the everliving christ out of jon its NOT OKAY FOR HIS BULLSHIT VICTIMHOOD TO TAKE MY HORNY ASS & BENCH HER????? also israel mullinex? if that boy is controlling me ID LET IT HAPPEN THEYRE HOT AS FUCK??!??!?!?!?!?!?!? stop all this nonsense im hood rich i travel on public transport bc die hard leftist contributing to public transportation also fear of operating a vehicle with my chronic suicidality but im very attracted to these people & michaels feelings getting hurt (pretty sure he doesnt ever suffer) over me railing the fucking dogshit out of his bandmates is his problem not mine. its not okay. im mad about that the most. but i felt like i had to tell jon who i was. but that was kind of sexy tbh being denied even though i know how attracted we are to each other. id sit on him & wail i mean it. like maybe i just want access to his friends so bad bc they all fall under the category of "traumatised, suicidal, & hot musicians" & that happens to be the very one that makes me tweak my nipples & wipe my upper thigh of p*ssy juice. im disgusting im evil im full of lust & it shouldnt be reciprocated or held to a high standard.
i need to pray & cut myself so i can get the demon out but when i cut for the black blood it takes nearly all of my self control to keep from hitting major areas because i have to get the demon out cut it deep enough for the love to lead it out & the lust to make it leave anything to bleed
bleeding heart jesus chapter zoophile crazy girl let the lamb of god take me of my milk

The engineering and technology company Bosch is at the head of a forthcoming, blockchain-based digital mobility project with backing from the German government, which was demoed live at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, Germany. At the event, Bosch, alongside its collaborators MOBIX and the Peaq blockchain, revealed a peer-to-peer parking and charging scheme utilizing moveIDs on the Peaq ecosystem. MoveIDs act as self-sovereign identities (SSIs), built on the blockchain permitting autonomous transactions between vehicles and connected infrastructure. The demonstration at IAA Mobility highlighted autonomous transactions between connected devices - in this case, a smart car, charging station, and signal for parking. A Jaguar electric vehicle(EV) showcasing decentralized tech w/ integrated payment abilities. Source: CointelegraphCointelegraph was on the ground in Munich and spoke with Peter Busch, the project lead for moveID and product owner for Distributed Ledger Technologies (Mobility) at Bosch, along with Leonard Dorlöchter, co-founder of Peaq, to understand better how blockchain is helping push forward the future of mobility. When asked why mobility was the right sector to begin implementing SSI on a large scale, Dorlöchter pointed out that “with mobility especially, there's a lot of fragmentation.” When it comes to mobility, the goal for users is to move from one point to the other point. This is done via public transport, micro-mobility scooters, car sharing or personal cars, which need parking spots and charging.“There are many players involved and always requiring sign-ups with new accounts, new cards, etc.. If this is happening on the blockchain, an open ecosystem, then everyone can have a seamless experience and also find the best services, best parking and charging spots.” A Jaguar electric vehicle (EV)  equipped with a moveID communicating with a traffic light to signal charging availability via blockchain transactions. Source: CointelegraphAccording to Busch, decentralized identities of items on open blockchain networks are the “most promising technology” because:“Decentralized identity allows you to authenticate and identify devices without having the intermediate or another hyperscan in the background.”“This is the ultimate data sovereignty because the user owns their own data and keeps it and controls it,” he said. “In use cases of charging, you can see only the user and the charging pole in the car make that business - no other party around it.” Busch said one of the main goals and motivations of the project is to standardize the technological integration with other automotive players in Germany and across Europe. He also commented that the mobility sector is a great example to big players in the industry and others how Web3 and decentralization can help with data and privacy compliance and European GDPR. “The EU government is planning to demand that every person in the EU in the future has a decentralized ID.”“What we are developing is accessible for anyone who can download it. It will be available to all the citizens and all the businesses who would like to use it,” he said. All of this is part of a larger European Union-funded initiative called Gaia-X, that intends to create a federated, secure data infrastructure for European digital sovereignty and lay the foundations for future smart cities. Therefore, Busch stressed the importance of “designing systems that people can use easily."“Any citizen in maybe like five to eight years will have this automatically and won’t have to think about it because, as you have your personal ID as a card in your wallet today, it will be digitally or electronically somewhere.”According to the Peaq co-founder, a smart city of the future as envisioned by these projects will be a web of “interconnected things” that need to have an identity and an open system. “If we look into the future and think about smart cities, they wouldn't work and function if they were built on a Web2 platform as we know them today.
”“Things become alive by having an identity - it's their passport,” he said. In the case of the example seen at IAA Mobility, this is smart cars, charging stations and traffic lights.“Once they have that identity, users can find and identify with them. Then you can really create a smart city.” “The Internet of Things (IoT) turns into the Economy of Things (EoT) because all of those things have some economic value and that's the future. The future of AI automation will be economic activity and machines will do what's necessary to support society.”Creating an IoT, and therefore an EoT is similar to nation-building in the digital space. Dorlöchter concluded by saying that in order for any of this to happen these systems need to be “open and decentralized systems.” Most importantly they need to have an interoperability component that makes it so “everyone can participate in the earnings.” Source

The Book of Job Chapter 10
You made me to break me
Now, I don't want to be too self-referential in these posts. This is the Book of Job after all and it is one of the most misunderstood books in the world literature canon, so adding my own personal anecdotes makes things feel amateurish. The college professor who always marked me down for my papers on Horace's Odes because I always included personal stuff haunts me to this day. Especially when I agree with him to a certain extent. Or more accurately I agreed with him wholeheartedly when I tried to listen to a Sarah Vowell book about the pilgrims and learned absolutely nothing about the pilgrims but learned a great deal about Sarah Vowell, way more than i ever wanted to know about Sarah Vowell.
But the line from this second part of Job's response to his friend that is now a response to G-d that goes "Does it benefit you to defraud , to despise the toil of your hands, while smiling on the counsel of the wicked?" (verse 3) that gets to me this week because I was again in the crosshairs of the Facebook AI. Apparently Facebook has fired most of its standards people (including the one friend that I had who worked at Facebook) so my week long ban stuck.
Tumblr media
And the weeklong ban was for a meme that gets shared all over Facebook, especially on the Ides of March - the one that goes "Whoever made September, October and November the 9th, 10th and 11th month should be stabbed." Because it promotes violence. Against Julius Fucking Caesar. And again, I'd be ok with that if this was a fucking sensible rule but it's not. How do I know it's not? Because I repeatedly make complaints against Nazis, conspiracy theorists, racists and transphobes on Facebook and then get the gaslighting "this isn't against Facebook standards"
Yes, G-d is arbitrary and shitty and lets the wicked prosper and the virtuous suffer. I expect better from Facebook standards. If other media companies can cancel Andrew Taint while G-d takes his only sweet time with that tumor, you'd think that Facebook would deal with the shitbags. But yeah, Facebook was complicit in the Myanmar genocide.
Tumblr media
So what's the rest of this chapter. It's still pretty dark but it's also one of the ultimate "fuck you G-d" chapters where Job talks about being created and risen up just so he can get smashed. And he's actually asking why G-d would make this a thing. Job knows that he's innocent (and as a reader, we know that Job is innocent. Thank you, Satan). Yet, does Job's innocence help him? No.
And then we end with another "if only I was never born" verse. I just wonder if we would hear this verse a lot more if the anti-forced birth movement was full of religious fanatics and the forced birth assholes did not selectively quote the Bible.

hey there! i read your recent open letter post and i found it very interesting! i definitely share your grief and sadness because of Loki’s character demise and the series itself. and i found what you said about Tom interesting too cause his behavior and change of opinion about Loki had me questioning what was happening behind the scenes. i do have some theories and bits and pieces from the past i can connect to try to understand what exactly went wrong! (this message is long so if you don’t wanna read this it’s totally okay! just thought it would be fun to share <3)
flashback. i was 13-14 when i got into TH, this was also around the dark world era of Loki, i was more of a fan of Loki than tom but i did watch videos and looked at memes of him. id say i started to become a fan of tom for a year and a half before i caught myself and said “this sounds like im forming a parasocial relationship and that’s very unhealthy” so I pulled back and stopped intaking tom content (celeb content in general, it made me feel icky in my own opinion), (i stopped right before the whole TS thing began, got away safely!) and focused more on Loki. when i stopped looking at TH content i just knew him as the dude that dances, loves Loki and is nice to people. Ragnarok came, it was fun (i won’t give my opinion on the movie here since that’s a different topic), i didn’t pay attention to tom during that time but i definitely noticed something was off when i saw an interview. i was a goofy 17 year old kid, even a goofy kid could tell something was wrong with Tom. but then i thought nothing of it and then sort of abandoned Loki content until the series began. we all know how the series went, terrible. very very offensive to so many different communities. what was even more jarring was toms comments towards Loki and his mannerisms. i was shocked, but then i decided to go on a little treasure hunt and try to retrace the steps to figure out HOW EXACTLY WE GOT HERE!
my most simplest answer, the media is partially to blame. this might be a hard pill to swallow for some TH fans but…he made quite a few big mistakes in his career that cost him a lot of roles and new movies. the TS thing, the GG speech, certain interviews, apparently he was “too goofy” for parts of Hollywood and he was advised to “tone it down”. which honestly is SAD imo cause i understand his excitement and im a goofy, animated person too and love to show off my talents, but i think there’s a time to simmer it down and i think tom wasn’t simmering down to “hollywood standards” (he even said he wasn’t allowed to do impressions anymore) so he really had to change. i personally didn’t mind him being excitable and talk 2637382 miles an hour about Loki, but a lot of professionals didn’t approve and unfortunately I think he had to pay consequences for that. :( because of that he had to change how he behaved and started to become more mild, quiet and observant. even though i wasn’t invested in tom all the way, as someone who watched some stuff about him as a kid it was pretty sad to see the media sorta force a man to change. there’s nothing wrong with being mature but this was definitely a whole personality switch for me.
anyways, i think the reason he’s become so quiet about speaking out about loki is because of the media advising to change his approach on his persona. for some reason they did not like that and i think that’s one of the reasons why tom seems almost robotic in a way? i have a feeling Disney feeds him comments to make during interviews and he can’t fully say what he wants to say. basically my opinion is that it is partially his fault and partially the medias fault on how Loki was handled. (more so the media i believe). he made mistakes, the media silenced his upbeat opinions on many things including loki and …i think that’s how we got here. now of course i could be wrong! since i don’t know tom personally, this is just a speculation of mine and i sorta did a deep dive over the summer and came up with this conclusion. tom seems to be doing better and looks happier, but, because his persona is also being run by the media, we might truly never get his full opinion on matters and his full personality back to the public. it’s pretty tragic. let me know your thoughts on this! it was fascinating to research.
Right on. I feel like he's been rebuffed so much that he's resigned himself to it. Maybe he feels that at the end of the day it's just a character, and regardless of how strongly we feel about that, he doesn't want to jeopardize his career for a character anymore especially given the way the wind has been blowing and it's kind of seemed like Tom Hiddleston's Loki will be a thing of the past for quite a while now. I guess he doesn't want to entirely ruin the last few years he'll probably be allowed to play the character, because in light of the way Loki has been treated I doubt there is an hope of salvaging what remains of the original character. Maybe he thinks it's too much effort and too much trouble for too little gain. And honestly, I can't blame him for that. Like you said, his career has had some pretty rough blows and he's decided to just go with it instead of fighting it anymore.
I respect that, in a way. While I (like so many others) feel a deep sense of betrayal at how our beloved character was treated and how he condoned that treatment, I understand the sentiment behind wanting to not risk his chances anymore and boost himself forward as much as he can in the next few years. I did consume quite a bit of TH content (other than Loki, I mean) back in the day but I don't think it's at the stage of a parasocial relationship. But I still can't help but feel robbed.
