i love to think about the ways eiffel is willing/able to take up physical space for hera when she can’t. i think... with eiffel and hera and minkowski staying together post-canon, one thing that might start to really bother hera is that, like. she doesn’t have any stuff. she doesn’t even have herself to be there in the house, really, not physically. and unlike with the hephaestus, a house that is actually meant to be a home, a place that is designed for human life, is always full of reminders of the people who live there. so i want to think that she expresses this to eiffel and he starts picking up stuff he thinks she’ll like just to put it on the shelves and around the house, so it’s her house too. and she thinks it’s kind of silly at first because it’s not like she can really interact with most of it, but. then she sees all of her stuff mixed together with eiffel’s on the shelves and it’s like this constant reminder that she exists in the world, that she has an impact on it and a place in it. and that does make her feel a little better.

Fifteen Days Before Eddie's Birthday
****
Fifteen days until Eddie's birthday, thirteen days until your next paycheck, bills are due in sixteen days and you only have $125 in your bank account. Exhaustion pulls at your eyelids as you try to do the math in your budget journal.
"Groceries are almost $60, gas is $40," you whisper to yourself. You let out a sigh. You'll have $25 left over after just two things and still need a present for Eddie and pay bills afterwards. You scribble across your journal "fuck" over and over again, trying to think of how you'll get the money.
You could just ask your boyfriend for some help with groceries or bills. You could skip a gift all together and just take him on a cheap date. But you don't want him to worry about you, these are your problems not his. It's embarrassing to see how bad your finances have gotten.
"I need more hours," you say to yourself.
Twelve Days Before Eddie's Birthday
***
Your feet ache painfully as the twelfth hour of your double starts to sink in. The memory foam on your flats has worn off from the constant working, walking, standing. You push through it, taking yet another table in your section. A smile attempts to plaster itself into your face as you do your generic server greeting, but you end up coming off delirious. It doesn't help that your stomach growls loudly every time you hand a customer their food.
Nine Days Before Eddie's Birthday
Dinner was a mix of different customers' orders that had been sent back to the kitchen. As usual they were perfectly fine, just not perfect for the customer. Despite looking like a rat sneaking food in the kitchen, you felt better having something in your stomach after several days of not eating. You'd made $400 in tips so far and you weren't going to waste any of it. You had stopped driving to save on gas money and hadn't shopped for groceries in over a week.
Four Days Before Eddie's Birthday
Eighty hours. That's how much you have worked so far. Your apartment was a distant memory at this point. You'd stay at the dinner you work at to nap between shifts. Almost every coworker you have has given you one of their shifts out of pity. It was worth it in your mind. $800 in tips and your paycheck in two days was guaranteed to help with your boyfriend's gift and rent. With any luck you might have enough money to buy enough groceries to last a couple weeks.
Two Days Before Eddie's Birthday
Wind rushes past your face as you walk as fast as you can to cash your paycheck. Ninety hours of work translated to a $220 paycheck on top of all your tip money. It was just enough for you to get the perfect gift for Eddie and still afford rent. You slam the check in front of the bank teller a little too excitedly. She gives you a nasty look for startling her, but none of that matters to you. After the bank you head straight to your real destination, the record shop.
It's filled with every kind of music you can think of but you only came for one thing. Near the back of the shop was an aisle of classic rock and metal records from the 60s and 70s. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Kiss were some of Eddie's favorite bands and you had found a gold mine of vinyls he doesn't already own. You made a list of albums Eddie had talked about getting and peruse the aisle, picking up anything on your checklist.
The cost of Eddie's gifts was just over $300 not including the gift wrap and birthday decorations you bought for his party. You went slightly over your budget, but there's still enough for your rent. You might have to live off of customers' sent back orders again but that thought is at the back of your mind at the moment. All you can think about is your beautiful boyfriend's face when he sees his gifts.
Eddie's Birthday
***
Party streamers, balloons, and a big Happy Birthday banner decorate your tiny apartment. A Walmart sheet cake sits on your coffee table with two candles, marking your boyfriend's 20th birthday. All of Eddie's D&D group huddle around eating pizza brought by Mike and sipping coke, possibly spiked with rum, brought by Eddie.
"Thank you guys for coming to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday! A special thank you to Mike and Eddie for providing extra food and drinks since I forgot to get them. Everyone put your gifts in a neat pile next to the couch," you announce.
Eddie sits on the couch gleefully as he's presented with presents. His lopsided birthday crown lays gently on his messy brown curls and his smile is from ear to ear.
"Let's see what you cheap asses got me. Which one should I open first?" Eddie teases. He pulls you into his lap and inspects the different boxes and gift bags.
"Oh, do me first," Dustin raises his hand with a smile before Eddie finishes his sentence.
Dustin's gift is a set of metal Ral Partha DnD figurines. All of them have intricate details and look amazing, even to a non DnD player like yourself.
"Thanks Henderson, we'll use these for our next campaign," Eddie says, turning them around in his hand.
The next few gifts follow a similar theme minus a random deck of cards and a new rolling tray, which your boyfriend was very grateful for. Finally Eddie gets to your gift.
"Saved the best for last," Eddie says, giving you a little pinch on the butt. You quickly swat away his hand with a giggle.
Your boyfriend removes the tissue paper from your bag at a dramatically slow pace. He pulls out the first record, Black Sabbath's Technical Ecstasy vinyl from 1976. His chocolate eyes widen with kid-like joy as he inspects it. He gently places it on the coffee table next to the cake and brings out another vinyl, Judas Priest's British Steel album.
"Babe," he whispers as he quickly rifles through the bag, "these are amazing! How did you know I wanted these? It must have cost a fortune for you to get all of these."
"You talk about them literally all the time, baby. I just made a list of the ones you talked about the most and made sure you didn't have them yet," you reply. Eddie smothers you with cheek and forehead kisses, not caring about anyone else in the room.
"All of your gifts suck compared to her's," Eddie jokes.
The rest of the party was spent eating cake and talking about future plans. By the end of the night your apartment was a mess of wrapping paper and deflated balloons. After everyone files out for the night, Eddie stays back to help you clean up.
"Sorry about the mess babe, I forgot how gross these guys are," Eddie apologizes while picking up scraps of paper.
"It's fine, I'm just glad everyone had fun."
You stack the leftover pizza into your fridge along with a final slice of birthday cake. The inside of the refrigerator looks depressing and barren with just those two items in there.
"Damn, you need groceries," Eddie comes up behind you. You reflexively shut the fridge door.
"No, I'm good for the next few days. I'll just live off the leftovers till they're gone."
"Let's just pick up a few things while the store is still open. You'll have to get them eventually," Eddie lightly flicks your forehead.
You walk out of the kitchen and sit on the couch, fidgeting with your fingers nervously.
"I can't!" Your voice cracks a little at your sudden outburst.
"Why not?" Eddie moves to the seat next to you. He wraps a gentle arm around your shoulders.
"I have to pay rent tomorrow and I won't have enough left for groceries. I'm fine though I've got leftover pizza and whatever gets sent back to the kitchen at work!" All the words just spew out for your mouth before you can stop yourself.
"Don't tell me you spent most of your money on my birthday gift," Eddie scoffs. The look in your eyes is the only answer he needs. "Honey, why do you do this? You did this last Christmas and every holiday before that!"
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to get you something nice Eddie," your voice cracks as you speak.
"You could get me a flower off the sidewalk and I'd be happy. I don't need $300 worth of records or a new guitar! And I don't need a girlfriend who can't even be a functional adult and watch her spending."
Eddie jumps from the couch, gathering all of his things except the records.
"Return them," is all he says before he walks out of your apartment.
The deafening silence is broken by your gentle sobs as you sink deeper into your couch. You did all of this for him, but he was right. You're twenty-years-old and can barely keep enough money for food after buying an obnoxious amount of unnecessary things. You overworked yourself just to go broke again.
You look over at the solitary bag of records sitting in the middle of the room. I know what I have to do.
One Week After Eddie's Birthday
***
The records are gone, your rent has been paid, and your fridge is filled with groceries. Even with everything full and paid off, you still felt empty without Eddie. You haven't tried to call him since the argument, but you thought about him every day. Still, you continue to focus on yourself and work and save.
Your mind is distracted from the topic of your ex by a busy mid-shift. Customers just spill into seats faster than you can say ‘Hello’. The hostess seats another person in your section when you turn your back. You give her a look of frustration, knowing it's not her fault, but she mouths a little ‘sorry’ before going back to her stand.
Your body moves on autopilot to your new table as your feet scream in agony. You're just about to do your greeting when you see who's sitting down. Eddie.
“I-uh, Hi,” you say with a confused stutter.
“Hey,” Eddie replies in a nervous tone.
“What can I get you?”
“I wanted to talk. I know you're working, but just pretend like you're talking my order.”
“Eddie, I can't. There are tables that need my attention,” you sigh.
Eddie fiddles in his pocket for a minute before pulling out a $50 bill.
“$50 tip and all you need to do is listen,” Eddie pleads, sliding the bill towards you. You silently put the tip in your server book and wait for him to speak.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you or shame you for buying me such a nice gift. I just wanted you to be okay and take care of yourself and not worry about getting me so expensive. I love you so much and I know I don't deserve a second chance because of how I acted. I just wanted to say I'm sorry for everything. I was the immature one not you.”
“I can't do this right now, Eddie.”
“You don't have to respond, just know that I'm sorry.” Eddie gets up to leave but you stop him.
“My break is in ten minutes, I'll meet you outside,” you say, before walking away from his table.
The next ten minutes are excruciating. All you can think about are his words. What do you say? Go fuck yourself? I forgive you? Your mind races all the way up until your boss lets you off on your fifteen.
The parking lot is almost completely empty except for Eddie's dingy van sitting in a more secluded area. You walk over and knock on the passenger side window. Eddie quickly unlocks the door for you.
“Thank you for meeting me,” Eddie says with a smile on his face.
“I have a lot to say, so just be quiet for a sec,” you reply, getting into the van. “You were right, I needed to become a functional adult. And even though you were right, you were still wrong for yelling at me and making me feel like shit. I forgive you, but it's going to take more than that to fix our relationship.”
Silence fills the small space of the van before Eddie speaks again. “I'm sorry, I really am. Can we start over? Not pretend like this didn't happen, but rebuild trust and love for each other?”
“I would love that.”
“Okay,” Eddie grins from ear to ear.
“Okay,” you say, not being able to hide your own smile.

Where's Mommy?
Wolffe x Fem!Reader
Part 7
Tumblr media
Summary: Wolffe's wife suddenly dies, leaving him a single father in the middle of a war.
Pairing: Wolffe x Fem!Reader
Characters: Wolffe, Cara (child OFC), Comet
Tags & Warnings: heavy angst, mention of death, off-screen death, spousal death, reader is not the spouse, grief, hurt/comfort, family fluff
Word Count: 1.1k
Author's Note: We are back to the Wolffe angst! (but did we ever really leave?) This part is really sad. I know I keep saying that, but this one actually made me tear up while writing it. I don't usually get emotional when writing emotional scenes, so yeah. Do with that what you will. As always, please enjoy 💚

Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9 - Part 10

"Cara," Wolffe says. "I need you to go with Comet and pack some things from your room, okay?"
Cara looks up at him with a puzzled expression. "Why?"
"Because we can't stay here without mommy," he explains.
"Oh," she frowns. "Where are we going?"
"The Jedi Temple," Wolffe says. "We'll be staying with Plo for a while."
"I don't want to go," she pouts.
Wolffe sighs. "I don't want to go either, but we don't have a choice. Please, help daddy and go with Comet to pack."
"No," Cara whines.
"Come on, ad'ika," Comet says. He gets up off of the couch and stretches his arms over his head. "I bet I can pack faster than you."
"Nuh uh," Cara says, then jumps off of Wolffe's lap and runs toward her bedroom.
"Well, that was easy," Comet chuckles. He looks down at Wolffe. "You okay?"
Wolffe sighs. "Do you want a real answer?"
Comet frowns. "I guess that was a dumb question."
"I'm fine," Wolffe says, but his facial expression betrays his words.
Comet decides to change the subject. "How many boxes can she bring?"
"One," Wolffe says. "The Jedi aren't big on things ."
"Understood," Comet nods, then walks off to follow Cara.
"Oh, Comet," Wolffe throws over his shoulder. "Make sure the di'kute in the kitchen clean up their mess."
Comet smirks. "10-4."
Wolffe remains seated on the floor and fidgets with the carpet pieces again. Fine. He doesn't even know what that word means anymore. He used to, back when life was simple and fine just meant he wasn't dead. Now, he's not sure what to feel, how to feel, or how to deal with whatever feelings he's having. Sure, he feels sad when his brothers die, but something about this death feels much different. It's heavier, denser, tighter, and suffocating in a way he can't fully explain.
Unwilling to dwell on his unchecked thoughts, Wolffe grabs whatever box he can find and heads to his bedroom. He scrolls through the mental list he made and collects all of the obvious items he wants to keep. Some things are on the bookshelf, like her favorite holo-novel. Some things are in the dresser, like her nightshirt and a lingerie set he bought her for their first anniversary. And some things are on the bedside table, like the holo-photo album and her half-used chapstick.
He opens the bedside table drawer to check if there's anything hiding in it he wants and his heart sinks. His gold wedding band sits alone in the drawer. He almost forgot about it. He can't wear it most of the time, but usually he'll put it on when he's home. He didn't even get a chance this time around. He picks up the band and admires it fondly, reading the inscription and the date. His wife saved every credit she had to buy those rings for them. He carefully places it in the box.
Wolffe rummages through the closet next, pulling little bits and pieces of his wife out and places the most important items into the box. He only gets one box, so he has to make every spot count. He shifts a stack of clothes to the side and a data-stick falls off the shelf. He bends over to pick it up and studies it for a moment. Wondering what's on it, he plugs it into the holo-projector and sits on the edge of the bed. An image pops up and his breath is stolen as the recording plays.
Hi darling, his wife says with a warm smile while sitting next to Cara at their kitchen table.
Wolffe gasps, then covers his mouth. He remembers when his wife sent him this recording on Cara's third birthday. He was away on a mission, and wasn't able to look at it for a couple of rotations, but it made him so happy to see them both. He'd been on that mission for months and missed them dearly. He completely forgot about it until now, and can't believe his wife kept it all this time. She looked so beautiful that day, and Cara was all dressed up for her special day, too.
Today is Cara's third birthday, she continues, then looks at Cara. Say hi to daddy.
Hi daddy! Cara yells with a big grin.
"Hi baby," Wolffe says. It might seem stupid to say hello to a recording but he doesn't care.
It's time to sing happy birthday, his wife says. Ready, Cara? Nice and loud so daddy can hear.
Cara nods her head and they both start to sing. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Cara, happy birthday to you.
Wolffe's eyes turn misty and his body trembles as he tries to contain his emotions.
Now, blow out the candles and make a wish, she says.
Cara blows out the three lit candles and his wife claps.
What'd you wish for? she asks with a big smile.
Daddy come home! Cara yells towards the recorder.
Wolffe can't hold back the tears that roll down his face. He wishes he had more time with her. With both of them, together, as a family. It was too short. He didn't even get the chance to give his wife the life she deserved. She took care of everything while he was deployed, and he vowed to take care of everything when the war was over, but now… Every vow he made with her has turned to ash. Until death do us part was the promise, but now, death has claimed her.
Okay, Wolffe, his wife says. I know this needs to be short, so we're gonna say goodbye now.
"No," Wolffe's voice cracks. "Please, don't say goodbye."
Say goodbye to daddy, she says to Cara while waving towards the recorder.
Bye, daddy! Cara yells and waves.
"Please," Wolffe begs, his entire body shaking. "Cyare. Don't go."
Come home soon, she says, then blows a kiss. I love you, Wolffe.
The recording ends, but the last image stays. Wolffe stands up on shaky legs and approaches the projected image. He stretches out his hand to touch his wife's cheek, but his fingers pass through the pixels. He gasps, then tries again. This time to brush her hair with the palm of his hand, but it also passes through. It's an image. It's not real. She's not real. Why isn't she real? All he wants to do is touch her one more time and hug her one more time. To feel her warmth.
"I love you, too," Wolffe whispers through a shuddered breath.
Wolffe carefully pulls the data-stick out of the holo-projector and cradles it in his hands. Besides his daughter, this is his most prized possession. His wife's voice. He thought he'd never hear it again, and he doesn't know if it helped him feel better or made him feel worse. Regardless, he nestles the special memory into the box and surrounds it with his wife's other things to keep it safe from harm. If anything ever happens to that memory, Wolffe doesn't know what he will do.

just some thoughts that came to me at work :)
-
Steve and Robin had just been let go from Family Video, for apparently "spending more time watching movies, than doing their job". If they didn't want them watching movies, they shouldn't have put a display TV in the store. Now, the two were driving around downtown looking for any help wanted signs. "I don't get it, Robbie! I laid down all that Harrington charm, you'd think she would have hired us right on the spot!."
"Steve, if that was what you called 'charm', I'm starting to really understand why you can never land a second date." Robin snorted from the passenger seat. "That poor barista, probably threw out both of our applications, after that pick up line you used."
"It was a classic! You just don't-" "STOP!" Steve slammed on his breaks, causing the car behind them to speed around, flipping them both off. "Robin, you can't do-"
"I seen the big ol' help wanted sign, and didn't want us to miss out on this momentous opportunity." Robin shrugged, as Steve parked along the sidewalk.
Steve grumbled back a response under his breath, as they both exited the car, making their way towards the Record Shop. "Hey, lighten up! This job might be 'life changing'! What if we find the love of your life here!" Robin joked, as she jabbed at Steve's side.
"Robin, if we get hired here, and it leads to me finding the 'love of my life', I will give you my car." Steve added sarcastically, as he opened the door for Robin.
-
It has been two weeks, since they both got hired at the Record Shop. Max, Lucas, and Dustin have visited a couple times. Max was excited, because she presumed she would be able to use Steve's discount to get all the tapes she could imagine for her Walkman. Steve, and Robin both loved the place, the owners were a really cute old couple, Roy and Tammy, they got to play whatever they wanted over the store speakers while they worked, see all the new releases, wear their own clothes as a uniform. Steve and Robin had even come up with their own game behind the counter, where they would try and guess what a customer was going to buy, based on what they were wearing. They even had a little tally going on in the backroom. Robin was much better at Steve than this guessing game, leading by seven points.
Today, Robin asked Steve if he was fine running the shop on his own, she had plans to get coffee with this girl from the Bookstore across the street from the Record store. Her name was Nancy, and she had been in quite a few times since the two have gotten hired, constantly asking Robin her thoughts and opinions on certain tracks. Robin's been smitten ever since. Steve had agreed, wishing her luck, as he hung up the phone.
Steve got to work today, wearing his favorite yellow sweater, some light wash jeans, and his white chucks. It was a Thursday, inventory day, Steve had forgotten that was today, when he had so easily agreed to let Robin take the day off. Steve huffed, and cursed Robin in his head, as he brought yet another box up to the front counter. He sighed when he took a seat at the counter, as he laid his head down on the cool counter, enjoying a split second of bliss, before the door was practically kicked open, letting the bell that hung over the door ring louder than normal. Steve shot his head up, sitting up straighter, as the person walked in.
"Ohhhh Roooyyy, you know what today is! Metallica just dropped a new album, man!" The stranger called out as he walked directly towards the labeled section, not even glancing at the counter. "Also, whats with this pop garbage over the speakers, man!" Steve took this time to watch him, as he sifted through the various album covers, as his ring clad fingers pulled out an album to marvel at, before placing it back. He watched as the man, stuck his tongue out as he moved to the next row, and how he shook his long hair out of his face, and continued to search. Steve stared at the vest that covered his back, and the way his jeans clung to his legs, chain looped across the first two loops of his jeans, and the neatly folded black hankerchif sticking out of his back pocket.
Steve stood from the counter, running a hand through his hair, as he went to approach the stranger. The man hummed a tune softly under his breath, that Steve was unfamiliar with. Just as Steve was going to clear his throat to get his attention, the man let out an exasperated sigh, before yelling, "Roy! Did you fall in the back again?" The man quickly turned around, running right into Steve's chest.
They both let out gasps, the stranger from shock, and Steve from the blow. As the two regained balance, the man laughed. "Holy shit, man, say something next time!"
Steve, now even closer to the stranger, could not find any words. Too busy, scanning his features up close, getting lost in his pretty brown eyes. Steve shook himself out of his thoughts, before clearing his throat. "M'sorry, was trying to catch my breath again over at the counter when you walked in."
"Wow, didn't realize I had that kind of effect on strangers, let alone hot strangers. What's your name?" The man smiled slyly, as he looked up at Steve.
Steve felt the heat rush to his cheeks, trying to hide his reaction, as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Uh, Steve. Roy isn't in today, but it is inventory day, so any new releases, I'm in the middle of putting out right now." Steve turned away from the man's intense gaze, clearing his throat as he turned away, walking towards the counter again. "I'm sorry, normally they're out by now, 'cause I have my coworker to help, but they're gone today." Steve continued to explain, as the man followed him to the counter where the boxes were stacked.
"S'Fine. Need a hand?" The man asked, as Steve opened up one of the boxes.
"No, I couldn't ask you to do that, I'll just hurry up, try and get you your album sooner." Steve said quickly, as he went to lift another box onto the counter. The man reached out, and put his hand on Steve's shoulder, stopping his frantic movements. Steve felt his whole body heat up from the touch alone.
"As much as I'd love to see you all sweaty, theres no need to do all that. I seriously don't mind, I've helped Roy and Tams a couple times anyways." He explained, as he took the box from Steves hands. "The names Eddie, by the way."
"Eddie." Steve quietly repeated to himself, as he opend the other box that Eddie had moved on to the counter. "Sooo, do you come around here often?"
"Are you flirting with me, Stevie?" Eddie looked up from the box in front of him, giving Steve that same smile from before.
"No- I just- Well-" Steve tried to quickly get out, as Eddie let out a melodic laugh.
"I'm joking, you walked right into that one." Eddie shook his head, as he turned away from the counter with a stack of new albums ready to put them in their respective section. Steve was still a blushing mess, wondering how any person could have this effect on him.
He was taken out of his trance by Eddie calling for him from across the store. "Steve, is this fucking ABBA playing?" He questioned, as the opening note to "Dancing Queen" played through the store.
Steve nodded, as he moved closer to where Eddie stood, with another stack of albums in his hand. "Yeah, why?"
"S'Nothing, I just thought Roy let you guys play your own music, while you worked." Eddie continued, as he moved past Steve to grab some another stack.
Steve stood their confused, watching Eddies back as he walked to the counter. "He does?" Steve replied, confused as to what Eddie was getting at.
Eddie let out another laugh, as he walked back over to Steve. "You're funny, dude. Seriously, that's hilarious." Steve looked towards Eddie again, giving him a quizzical look.
"What did I say?" Steve asked.
Eddie stopped in his tracks, and looked up at Steve. "Wait, wait, wait. You're not kidding? You seriously play ABBA while you work? Holy shit, I think I need a minute." He placed down the stack of albums, on a nearby counter, before he literally doubled over in laughter. Steve huffed as he set down his albums as well, walking close to Eddie, with both hands on his hips.
"What's so funny about it?" Steve questioned as Eddie continued to laugh. Steve tried very hard to keep the bit going, as he listened to Eddie's infectious laugh.
Eddied sounded out of breath as he replied. "You just don't look the type, maybe some Bee Gees, Journey, I don't know, even Tears for Fears."
"Huh? What's so shocking about it? What's not to like?" Steve continued to question, as Eddie started laughing again. "Youuu can dance, youuu can jiiive." Steve began to sing along, making Eddie laugh even harder, swatting his hand at nothing in an attempt to get Steve to stop.
The two let out a long sigh as the song conlcuded, Eddie shaking his head as he looked over at Steve, who whistled along to the final notes. "I'm going to make it my personal mission to show you some real music, Steve."
Steve rolled his eyes at the remarks, as he walked back over to continue putting away his stack.
The two finished fairly quick, throwing playful banter at each other the whole time, and Eddie continued to judge every single choice Steve made for music. By the time they finished, it was just in time for Steve to close up shop. He sighed, as he moved from the back room to lock up the front door, and flip the sign from "Open" to "Closed". He turned back to face Eddie who had made himself comfortable, sitting at the stool behind the counter, examnining the wall of posters that Roy had Steve and Robin put up.
"Lemme pick the music now." Eddied requested, as he hopped off the stool, walking over to Steve. Steve smiled, shaking his head. "Sorry, store’s closed, sir. You'll have to get going."
Eddie groaned, throwing his head back. "Stevie! Please! I will fall over and d*e right on this store floor, if you don't let me choose one song to play for you." Steve tried to stifle his laugh, with the back of his sleeve, shaking his head. Eddie rolled his eyes, letting out a big sigh before throwing himself on the floor. Steve let out a gasp, crouching over Eddie
"Dude! I was joking!" Steve exclaimed, as his eyes scanned over Eddies face. Eddies face broke out in a wide grin, as he opened his eyes, bringing his hand up to pat Steves cheeks.
"I knew you'd come aorund, Big Boy." Eddie pushed himself back up, quickly moving over to the section labeled "Rock". Steve still recovering from the nickname, watched as Eddie picked up an album, from the "D" section. Eddie turned on his heel, running over to the stores record player, carefully placing the pin, over his desired area.
Steve listened as the opening notes played through the store. He watched as Eddies smile grew, as he began nodding along to the beat. He finally turned to help Steve up from the floor. "I Speed at Night by Dio." Eddie announced, as Steve listened carefully. "I figured I'd ease you into my kind of music, I think this one is pretty mellow, mainstream for this genre." Eddie continued.
Steve shoved Eddie playfully. "I don't listen to mainstream music." At this, Eddie laughed again. “Also, I would not consider this ‘mellow’.” As the song continued.
"Steve, every song you played made me think we were just listening to the Top 50 Hits radio station." Eddie replied.
"You suck." Steve sighed, as they let the song play out.
Two hours later, Steve and Eddie were sat across from each other at the counter, a box of take out placed between them, that Eddie had ran down the road to get, insisting he buy Steve dinner. The only light left on in the store, being the single lamp, that hung over the counter, illuminating the two boys' animated conversation.
The new Metallica album, Master of Puppets, played lowly in the background, as Eddie stood up and reenacted a portion of his story, Steve watching closely, as if Eddie held the Sun in his hands, while he continued to eat from their shared box.
The boys were interrupted as they heard the door rattle, and quiet voices, as the bell above the door rang out. Steve stood quickly, Eddie close by his side, Steve held his breath, anticipating the worst, until he heard it.
“Steve? Robin?” Steve recognized the voice that called out, as the shop owner, Roy. Steve finally let out the breath he was holding as Roy approached the counter. “Didn’t expect you to still be here.” Roy said softly, before looking up to see the two boys standing closely together. “Oh! I see you’ve met, Eddie.”

i think richie tozier is really into glam metal. i think as a preteen he was really into rock n' roll because bill was really into rock n' roll, and i think bill would mostly listen to very core rock n' roll, not branch off into sub genres too much, he really appreciates the early stuff i think. but richie, at like 11 years old hears livin' on a prayer on the radio and he's immediately hooked. his parents buy him slippery when wet for his birthday and a bon jovi poster. his parents are pretty clueless about this stuff so wentworth takes him to the store so they get the right one. maggie's pretty sure bon jovi's for girls, but is just excited she isn't going to have to deal with her son playing the same three records over and over again anymore.
when richie's twelve the bon jovi poster gets moved to his door, so that it's hidden when he has it open. he feels guilty when he looks at it. it's his favorite poster though and it gets rotated around his room a lot.
when he's fourteen there's a bon jovi concert in maine and he convinces his parents to let him go so long as his sister goes with him to chaperone. it's a pretty life changing experience for him. his sister ends up really liking the music too, so thats cool. he gets a t-shirt that quickly becomes faded and soft from constant wear.
all the lights and effects and just the energy really flips a switch for him. it's not just bon jovi anymore, he's spending hours in the record store, he gets a job so he can buy a CD player, it takes a ridiculously long time to get to that point.
he also gets big into KISS because of course he does. he probably spends more time looking at the cover of his paul stanley album than he does listening to it. he may spend an unhealthy amount of time gazing longingly into paul stanley's eyes but his favorite is probably ace frehley. he has a ridiculous amount of magazines that he just got for interviews with them. this is the era of glam haircuts for richie. it takes him at least two years to figure out he actually has to style it though, so that's fun.
he tries to make his own music but he's hot garbage at it, he moves on to trying to play his favorite songs on guitar, which he also sucks at, he eventually gets desperate and tries to play on bill's mom's piano. he is swiftly removed from the household. he gets really good at singing his favorite songs though.
i'm not really going anywhere with this. richie tozier likes glam metal. it awakens something gay in him.
you can find some relevant images and some more of my commentary under the cut.
Tumblr media
slippery when wet, the first album richie sought out on his own, and the beginning of the end of his heterosexuality.
Tumblr media
i'm not going to say this is the poster, because i don't know enough about this stuff to confirm if this poster would've been sold around the right time. but you get the picture. ideally it would be this exact poster, but i'm not picky. i think richie comes home from school one day and looks at this poster and has a fucking. biblical experience. like it's just a normal school day, and then he just goes home, closes his bedroom door, turns around to take off his shoes, and stares this man straight in the eye and just thinks "holy shit he's beautiful" i think the poster sleeps in the closet that night.
Tumblr media
this is the paul stanley album i'm talking about. i think this is also richie's main haircut inspiration, but it takes him years to figure out what hairspray is. lucky for him his hair is naturally curly so he didn't look too stupid, but things weren't ideal.
i think he takes a lot of style influence from various musicians, but he's never willing to part with his dear patterned button ups, so his workaround is: obnoxious button up + leather jacket as we saw in the movie.
he really likes cinderella, and feels a little betrayed when they change genre direction in the 90s. i think he sees tom keifer
Tumblr media
wearing a lot of jewellery and decides he also wants to wear a lot of jewellery but ends up either hating it, or forgetting it, he also never convinces his parents to get his ears pierced. if he ever manages it, it's because bev did it herself, she probably screwed it up pretty bad too, and he just ends up with some pretty gnarly scaring on his right ear.

Birdie finds out Spirit’s lil secret + flustered Spirit
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spirit and Birdie were best friends, but completely opposite in almost every way.
Where Spirit was tall, Birdie was short as hell. And where Spirit was all rough edges inside and out, Birdie had a softer beauty and soul.
But one thing they absolutely had in common was their love of music.
And that shared love of music was why the two found themselves in the music shop where Spirit worked parttime outside of school. But she wasn’t working now, only shopping.
“Ooooh, how about Michael Jackson?” Birdie said, picking up an older vinyl.
Spirit looked over from where she was looking through some CDs and shook her head. “You have that one already, Bird. Remember? You got it from your mom on Christmas.”
Birdie’s cheeks darkened slightly with a blush as she realized Spirit was right, and then she went back to looking.
Birdie mentally checked off records she already had: everything from Queen (her favorite band), two Hozier records, a Hamilton record, a Lana Del Ray record, three Lindsey Sterling records, about ten classical music records, and—
“Spirit, the Metallica album that came out last year is here! And it’s signed!”
Spirit’s head snapped around and she all but ran over to Birdie. The album ‘72 Seasons’ had been playing on repeat on Spirit’s Spotify for months.
“Oh my God,” she said picking up the record. “This is so cool. I didn’t even know this came in!”
But then she turned it over and looked at the price, and her smile fell. She didn’t want to spend more than fifteen dollars, and let’s just say that this vinyl was much more.
Disappointed, Spirit put the record back and said, “I’ll get it another time.”
Birdie frowned. She’d offer to buy it for Spirit if she wasn’t already aware that Spirit would be absolutely against the idea. It was a matter of pride with Spirit, not letting others pay for her when her budget wouldn’t allow it.
“Should we go?” Birdie said. “There’s not a single record I have interest in that I don’t already have.”
Spirit nodded, and the two of them started left the store. They started towards the mall’s food court, but suddenly someone called Spirit’s name and she froze, her face becoming hot and she started mentally cursing, Shit shit shit shit SHIT!
“Hey, Spirit,” Aiden said, coming up to Spirit and Birdie with a casual smile brightening his face. His glasses her folded and hung on the neck of his shirt, and his hair was somehow a mess but still looked good. Spirit suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to burry herself into the ground.
“Hi, Aiden,” Spirit said quickly, praying that her face wasn’t red.
Birdie, who was double-dwarfed by the two giant people, suddenly cleared her throat when the silence stretched for a second too long.
“Oh,” Spirit said, “Aiden, this is my friend Birdie.”
He smiled at Birdie. “Nice to meet you,” he said politely.
Birdie nodded, her curiousness completely unmasked. “Nice to meet you too. So, are you two friends or something?” she asks, sounding even a little bit suspicious.
Just as Spirit was about to open her mouth to say ‘no’, Aiden shrugged and said, “More like friendly acquaintances. Spirit and I have run into each other a few times lately.”
Birdie nodded, still looking curious but she didn’t say another word.
Suddenly, Spirit blurted, “We have to actually. . . go study.”
She looked at Birdie with wide, communicating eyes that were screaming ‘work with me here!!!!’, and she was so thankful when Birdie said, “Yeah, we’re going to the library. But it was nice to meet you.”
Aiden’s eyes had a slightly amused glint as he looked at Spirit, clearly not fooled. But then he nodded and said, “Alright. Bye then.” And then he looked at Spirit and said, “Maybe we’ll run into each other again soon.” And then he turned and walked away.
The second Spirit could no longer see him, she let out a heavy breath she didn’t know she’d been holding.
“So, what’s the story here?” Birdie asked, a brow raised.
Spirit pulled the hood of her hoodie over her head and said, “No story.” Then she started walking towards the food court, thinking that Aiden wouldn’t be there since he’d been going in the opposite direction. “We’ll get smoothies, and then we’ll leave. Okay?”
But Birdie shook her head and crossed her arms, not moving. “You like him,” she stated, and Spirit felt her whole face turn red.
“N-no I don’t!” she said defensively, turning around and walking back over to Birdie.
Birdie shrugged. “From what I can tell, you do. And he does, too.”
Still though, Spirit shook her head. “No offense, but I don’t really trust your judgement. You’ve never dated, or even had a crush.”
“Neither have you,” Birdie retorted, her voice staying calm while Spirit grew more defensive and embarrassed.
“I know I haven’t. Just like you, I’ve never had interest in dating.”
“But you wanna date him.” Once again, it was a statement, not a question.
Spirit’s face felt so warm—whether from frustration or embarrassment, she couldn’t tell. Then she deflated, shoulders sagging. “Bird, can we please just get our smoothies and go?”
Birdie uncrossed her arms, a soft smile breaking out on her still calm face, and she nodded. “Fine, but this conversation is not over.”
“Oh, yes it is. It’s over.”
But as they made their way to the food court, Spirit knew for a fact that this whole situation was anything but over.

Question 7:
Aman50k: "I'll be attending one of your gigs for the first time this summer? Any advice, aside from not shouting out "LIAM!"?
Also could you please play an acoustic version of Go Let it Out sometime soon? It's one of my favourite tunes of yours!"

Question 8:
Kyuzwafu: "Hi Noel, quick question. What is your guilty pleasure when it comes to music?"
NG: "Tears for Fears."
Question 9:
State_from_jakefarm: "Hi Noel
Your'e commentary on all of Oasis's music videos is possibly the best thing on Youtube and one of the funniest things ever
So I'm hoping that your stance on videos hasn't changed so we'll see some High Flying Birds commentary down the road. Right?
Also, if you play "All around the world" at the Sony Center on Monday I will dedicate a shrine to you in my closet"
NG: "Oh yeah. Absolutely
Then what better reason for not playing it? Hehehehe."
Question 10:
David_J_Huggins: "Hi Noel
Do you remember where the chant in the demo of Columbia was sampled from?
Sounds like a Hare Krishna-type chant to me, but would love to know where it was actually from. Thanks!"
NG: "None of us know. It was just - we switched on the radio - it was recorded in the middle of the night, about 3 or 4 AM, and we just... it was something that was on the BBC World Service I think or some fucking radio station. None of us know what it is. No idea."
Question 11:
Pottersground: "Hi Noel, fan since the Definitely Maybe days here. Thanks for doing this AMA. My three questions are:
1) If there had been one more Oasis album after Dig Out Your Soul, what do you think it would've been like? Which songs of yours or the other three would you have put on it?
2) What's your maddest Oasis story?
3) What lead to Lock All the Doors being dug up and rerecorded for Chasing Yesterday? And,while we're on the subject, are there any odds in any other old and unreleased songs being redone for future releases? I would love to hear a finished version of Gotta Have Fun from the '89 tape
Cheers Noel!"
NG: "1.) Okay. It would've been half of my first solo record, so "Record Machine" would've probably been on it... "Stop the Clocks" would've probably been on it, and "Dream On" and maybe "Stranded on the Wrong Beach" and then the rest of the guys would've put on some of their own songs
2.) Hah. Wow. Maddest Oasis story. Just the fact that we existed AT ALL and became the biggest band in the world is bizarre enough. I'm not going to share any Oasis stories with anybody online for fear of litigation and libel
Although needless to say - there were oiled midgets involved. grins
There, I've said too much
3.) "Gotta Have Fun?" What led to "Lock All the Doors" being resurrected was just the fact that I kept the chorus in my head all those years... and I just happened to be comin' out of the local supermarket, on a Sunday evening... and snaps fingers it fell out of the sky
That's it
There are no more hidden gems to be regurgitated
Good word. Regurgitated
"Gotta Have Fun?" Don't remember that one."
Question 12:
Ruben122: "Hi Noel. Huge fan from Montevideo, Uruguay here. Any plans on coming to South America? Thank you!"
NG: "Yes. I believe... it's pencilled in... although don't quote me on this... for March 2016."
Question 13:
FootballDropout: "Wow... I can't believe you're finally doing an AMA!
I've been a huge fan of your work for years, and Live Forever is my all-time favorite song. I love the new album, and I can't describe how happy I am that you finished Lock all the Doors. Your music, especially the Masterplan album and your first solo album has been the amazing soundtrack to my teenage years and helped me through some really rough times
Do you have any plans to release songs such as "Bye Bye My Family/Don't Stop Being Happy," "She Must Be One of Us" or "Just Let it Come Down Over Me"?
The Mustique Demos are something of a "Holy Grail" among Oasis fans. Will they be released with the Be Here Now reissue?
To get a response from you would be incredible, and again thank you for all the incredible music."
NG: "Okay
There will be a "Be Here Now" reissue
The Mustique Demos will be on it
Indeed
The 3 songs that you mentioned - "Bye Bye My Family" is called "Don't Stop..." - the other two will definitely be released at some point - not sure when."
Question 14:
Thefatronaldo: "Should City sack Pellegrini this summer and if so who would you like to see in charge next?"
NG: "Should they sack 'im, I don't know
Who should they get? I don't know that either."
Question 15:
*Unknown question*
NG: "Someone asked if I would ever be on Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld:
In a heartbeat
I would fucking pay my own AIRFARE to do that
I'm a HUUUGE fan of Jerry Seinfeld. HUGE."
Question 16:
Laurakd7: "Do you get up to Manchester much these days and do you prefer London now?"
NG: "Eh - I go to Manchester to see my football team, Manchester City. When I go there, I love it. I usually spend about 2 or 3 nights there, at a time, and it's great, but London has become my home. And it's where I will probably stay from now on."
Question 17:
Danniboi1Derz: "What's your favorite thing to eat in the states?"
NG: "Ooooh!
Burgers
Burgers. Mexican food, 'cuz we don't get good Mexican food in England, and there's great Mexican food in America
And hot dogs."
NG: "The hot dog sandwich."
Question 18:
DannyBoi1Derz: "I know your son Donovan and you are pretty big WWE fans. Who's your favorite Wrassler??"
NG: "nods
At the moment - Donovan's favourite wrestler is Brock Lesner. Because he's mean, and evil
My favourite wrestler at the moment is Bray Wyatt. Because we met him when they did a show in London, and he was a really fucking nice guy. And we met Hulk Hogan, and he was a REALLY fucking nice guy. He asked if I was one of his Hulkamaniacs, and I had to say "yes, of course!" He came into this room, and I was going "Look Donovan, it's Hulk Hogan" and he goes "Look BROTHER, are you one of my Hulkamaniacs?!" and I said "Yes, of course!"
Question 19:
SuperT15: "Hey Noel, been a huge fan for years
What do you think is the most underrated Oasis song? Listen Up would be my choice."
NG: " "She is Love."
"Idler's Dream."
"Let's All Make Believe."
And... and... "Part of the Queue."
Question 20:
Frankm95: "Noel, do you consider a hotdog to be put under the category of a saddwich?"
NG: "Hahaha!
YES
Frequently
I frequently consider the hotdog a sandwich."
Question 21:
Lizzibarnes: "Also, forgot to ask! The ring with the red stone that you've always worn, what is the significance of it? I've always wondered! Thank you for being a rock-god."
NG: "gestures with ring
Thank you very much
I bought this ring in a pawn shop in Tokyo in the 90's. It's a US college ring that I believe people get when they graduate from college in America. It was given to somebody. I'm assuming a G.I. stationed in Tokyo, from Ruston High School in Mississippi (I've looked it up)
It has started many a boring conversation with some of the American armed forces in airport lounges across the world, when they'll say to me "Where'd you go to school buddy?"
"Manchester?"
"I see you got a ring there. Where'd you go to school?"
"I went to Ruston High School in Mississippi, as you can tell by my accent.""
Question 22:
Keepit_creepy: "Hi Noel, I have always wondered what your vocal warm-up consists of pre-gig?. Since your vocals are always on point!."
NG: "Eh... I sing "The Macarena." I do some yodelin'. And then I finish with "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce
Chuckles"
Question 23:
Gusrodlopez: "How was life before Oasis? did you had any life goal or something?"
NG: "No, where I came from, and the times that I grew up in, it was best not to have any ambitions. It was quite a bleak time
I never had a life goal until I wrote "Live Forever." And then when I wrote "Live Forever," I wanted to be in the biggest band in the world."
Question 24:
Riceomatic69: "Hey Noel, always wanted to ask this....back in the 90's you worked with Epiphone on your signature model "Supernova" guitar
However it didn't have any of the details of the custom shop Union Jack Epiphone you were most famous for at the time & have never seen any footage of you playing one
Did you have much involvement in the design or was it just a nice big bag of cash handed over for the use of your signature? :)"
NG: "chuckles
Okay, FIRSTLY, there was no big bag of fucking cash
Secondly, I was involved in the design
Thirdly, I can't fucking remember what my involvement was
Fourthly, I do have one, somewhere. But... I shouldn't have made them sonic blue color
It's disgustin'
Tell her I was high on the time, on drugs."
Question 25:
Bonojour: "Will there ever be a song featuring Boots? I think the meows would be a great harmony."
NG: "chuckles
Eh...Boots is an arrogant little shit
Yeah
That's my cat. He's been ignoring me for the last fucking five years
Me and Boots could never work together. There would be too many "artistic differences."
Question 26:
Venomousvillainy: "Hi. My Dad reckons he tested your eyes as a kid, do you remember going to an Opticians in Gorton?"
NG: "Gorton?
Yeah...kind of. Well, I know where Gorton is, and I know where my eyes are, and would I have had them tested in Gorton? I don't know
Gorton is like, an area of Manchester near where I used to live."
Question 27:
Jyhwkm: "Noel, you’ve always seemed dismissive of Oasis' Be Here Now - Heathen Chemistry years. Why is that? It was the ascots, wasn’t it?"
NG: "I dismiss "Be Here Now" because it's shit. And I'm allowed to say that because I fucking wrote it. "Heathen Chemistry" on the other hand, has its moments... "Force of Nature," "She is Love," "Little By Little," "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," etcetera
But yeah - "Be Here Now." Hmmm."
Question 28:
JamJam21: "Hi Noel! will you be adding anymore dates in the uk to your tour?"
NG: "I think there will be more dates, but not 'til 2016."
Question 29:
LordSifter: "You're still great mates with Gem - what's next for him? Will we see the 2 of you play together in the near future?"
NG: "I was with Gem about 4 weeks ago. Didn't get a chance to talk about anything really. It was at a party I was having in my dressing room, and there were too many people there. But if I needed on a track or a gig that thing that Gem offers, then I wouldn't hesitate to call him because I'd still like to think we're good friends and musical partners
As for what he's going to do in the future... I have no idea."
Question 30:
PraetorianGuard14: "Have you seen the new documentary on Kurt Cobain?"
NG: "No."
Question 31:
Jamesh134: "Hi Noel, what ever happened to the Oasis version of "The Roller"?
Also, I wanted to say thanks for all the music over the years. Been a source of inspiration all my life!"
NG: "Oh, thank you very much
The Oasis version of "The Roller" is... in somebody's... demo CD collection CD, somewhere. Not mine, I might add
Somebody will have it. Gem will probably have a copy of it. As has Liam, no doubt."
Question 32:
Sterlingavenueband: "Hi Noel. First of all- thank you for the many years of great music and leading me to my first guitar 18 years ago. Forever indebted to you for this
What are your thoughts on the songs 'Let's All Make Believe' and 'Roll It Over' and what are the chances of ever hearing them live? They're amongst two of my favourites of many which have never been done live before. Thanks in advance."
NG: "Eh - "Roll It Over" probably will never be performed live. But on the other hand, "Let's All Make Believe" I was messing around with it before this tour started, so I wouldn't be surprised if I play it in the very far distant future."
Question 33:
ZeppelinYanks: "Hey Noel! I'm a huge fan of Oasis and your solo work
A lot of what made Oasis great was the rock and roll attitude of "Fuck you, we're the greatest band in the world." What do you think about the current state of rock and roll? Is it alive, dead, or dying?"
NG: "ponders
I think that rock n' roll has turned into - or been turned into - a thing that is now referred to as "modern rock." Which is an awful title to give any kind of music. I think - I just think that the attitude, and the spirit, that we had is definitely disappearing."
Question 34:
Rodoalo: "Hi Noel, it's Rod from URUGUAY
My question has always been this:
Do you have any knowledge of music theory or did you learn songwriting by ear?
Cheers, your new record is amazing."
NG: "I learnt song-writin' by ear and instinct. I've never studied musical theory. I would never allow myself or any of my children to study musical theory. Because if you study musical theory, you will eventually end up soundin' like...shit
Hahaha."
Question 35:
Riceomatic69: "You have always spoken very highly of Ryan Adams & his version of Wonderwall, have you ever encountered anybody else that covered one of your tracks & thought it was as good as your version or maybe even better?"
NG: "No."
Question 36:
Look_who_it_isnt: "Hi Noel! I'm a huge fan. Your music has brought me so much enjoyment over the years - I can't even put it into words. I have major respect and love for you and wish you all the happiness in the world! I have two questions for you:
1) I love your sense of humor. You always make me laugh :) What's your favorite comedy, either from TV or movies?
2) A lot of us ladies think you're just the hottest thing ever. Does it bother you to be considered a veritable sex god? ;)"
NG: "1.) SEINFELD. The greatest thing that's ever been on television
2.) It's a cross I have to bear. And unfortunately... you know, it's a long road that I will have to carry this cross down. But I could think of worse things to be. I.E... a French person in Montreal."
Question 37:
Loulou96: "Hi Noel
I heard on radio 1 you perform shows wearing no underwear, can you confirm?"
NG: "Yeah, well, clearly that was a joke."
Question 38:
Super2goten: "Hey! Whose names were written on that napkin, Noel?
Thanks for being a legend! Think The Dying Of The Light/The Right Stuff/While The Song Remains The Same may be your best work yet, so thanks for that too! CTID!"
NG: "The names on the napkin was yours and your family's."
NG: "And I agree with those songs being my best work, and I admire your taste."
Question 39:
GiovaniGuizzo: "Hello Mr. Gallagher. Thanks for doing this AmA. I am a huge Oasis's and NGHFB's fan and I actually have several questions, but I will contain myself and ask just 3:
Which music is this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5mYMKfuUYc ? It sounds pretty amazing. Would you consider recording it eventually? Can you give us the name of this tune at least?
Have you met the girl of "Talk Tonight" after you wrote the song? If you have, how was the meeting?
I loved your new album, specially the "Lock All the Doors" track (what a blast from the past). Can we expect other reworked songs from the past in your future albums?
PS: You would like to take a look at /r/oasis. There are some interesting and insightful posts there from some mad fans."
NG: "1.) That song is called "Don't stop..." I've already recorded it. The reason it didn't make it onto "Chasing Yesterday" was because it didn't fit the vibe of the album. Needless to say, when I finally get 'round to releasing it, I think it will be one of my best ever releases. The sound of it is more akin to the first album, and I felt like "Chasing Yesterday" had moved on a little bit. But it's a great song, and I love it, and when I finally release it, you're going to love it (fans, that is)
2.) Eh - no, I haven't. I struggle to remember her name, to be honest
3.) No. That's it now, I'm afraid. The cupboards are bare."
Question 40:
Rak86t: "You're a great story teller and have such a way with words. Would you ever consider writing a book?"
NG: "looks around room
No."
Question 41:
Supersonic5: "Hey Chief! Never in a million years thought I’d see you do an AMA
You mentioned that you regret the name ‘Chasing Yesterday’, would you change it if you could, and what would you change it to?"
NG: ""Regret" is too strong a word. I don't think it's the greatest title I ever came up with. But then again, neither was "What's the Story, Morning Glory." If I could change it now, I'd probably change it to... eh... "Dark Side of the Room"
OR "Wheat is Murder." Hahahaha!"
Question 42:
Chenredditdude: "Hey Noel, I've noticed that in many songs you play E MINOR... Is it a heavenly chord?"
NG: "Hmmm
I guess it must be."
Question 43:
Govt_cheeze: "Hello Noel
How does it feel to be one of the last true rockstars?
&
What do you think of the new Blur album?"
NG: "It feels good to be one of the last rockstars
If in fact, that's what I am
And from what I've heard of the new Blur album, it sounds pretty good."
Question 44:
Rpm959: "What do you think it will take for guitar music to make a comeback?"
NG: "Somebody to write some fucking great songs
That's all it'll ever take
That's all it takes. People can talk about "attitude," and "spirit" and fucking good-looking guys in bands, and vibe, and fucking blah-blah-blah. I dare ANYBODY from the next generation to write one decent chorus
Yeah
Just one."
Question 45:
Justsomepersononredd: "Hi Noel, huge fan of most of your work
1) Do you ever get tired of people asking you all kinds of questions about Oasis? I've watched a few interviews with you post-Oasis and pretty much everyone's asked you a question or two about Oasis, I suppose I'm really not being different but do you ever feel like people should just move on?
2) How has touring and your creative process changed over the years? I mean, the music you put out now is quite different from the start of your career and I'm guessing there isn't as much partying behind the scenes as when you started
3) Which modern-day bands do you listen to nowadays? I discovered Kasabian by watching an interview of you and I think they're amazing, so thanks for that too
4) Any musicians you'd like to collaborate with?
5) I read that you had another brother, Paul, but I've never actually heard anything about him. What's he like?
6) What do you think of all these new forms of music distribution? Itunes, Spotify, Tidal, etc
Thanks for your time, hope you enjoy your AMA, and keep being an awesome musician"
NG: "1.) Yes. I do feel like they should move on. But I don't mind answerin' the questions if they're from fans, because i know how much that band meant, and continues to mean to people. So in my head, and my heart, I've moved on. So it's cool
2.) There's certainly not as much partying in front of the scenes, that's for sure. Everything changes as you get older in life. You know, you don't attempt as much as you did when you're 47 as you did when you were 27 - whether that be length of time on the road, or partying, or amount of songs that you write, or the places you're willing to go to write those songs. The life of a musician in regards to gettin' older is just the same as everybody else's life as they get older. Your fucking shit changes. Not literally
3.) Eh - yes, Kasabian would be one of my favourites. There's a band called Neon Waltz that you should check out. I'm not sure... there's a band called Jungle. Fucking hell, they are amazin'. Other than that, I'm still discovering old stuff from the 60's, I'm afraid
4.) Dave Gillmore, Jeff Beck, Davie Bowie would be - fucking hell, that would blow my mind if he would even shake a maraca for one tune, that'd be great. Yeah
5.) Heh. He's a fucking idiot - I'm only jokin' - haha! He's a dj. He - when I'm on tour in the UK - he does my official after show parties. And he's a funny, funny dude
6.) I don't agree with streamin'. I certainly don't agree with the lack of royalties that I receive from streamin'. I realize that the world is changin', and the way that people receive music - and even the fact that I use the phrase "receive music" is a fucking disgrace. I would rather that people own it. But I'm not sure where it's all going to end, if I'm being honest
I'll try."
Question 46:
Pheelip: "Hey Noel, huge fan. What do you think has been your greatest musical achievement?"
NG: "Whooooooo
I couldn't say with any great sense of certainty, because it changes every day for me, but I'm going to say the song "Rock & Roll Star" because it sums up everything about bein' young, and bein' in a band, and the hopes and dreams of, you know, a young land from Manchester
And it's a fucking great song."
Question 47:
MadferitNYC: "Do you think a rock band in 2015 can reach the level of popularity that Oasis reached? Or do you think that the music industry is too dead for there ever to be a rock band that reaches those heights again?"
NG: "I think that the days of a rock band explodin' out of a council estate in the north of England and going on to connect with so many people in so many countries around the world... I think the chances of that happenin' again are very, very slim
But we live in hope."
Question 48:
Karmarghh: "Hey Noel, been a huge fan of yours almost all 20 years of my life. I have been lucky enough to see NGHFB twice recently and just want to tell you the new album is f***ing incredible! You, among the likes of Bacharach and Macca, are my absolute inspiration for pursuing a life in Music, so thanks for that. Anyway - couple questions for you:
1) As a songwriter, could you let me in on your approach to melody? I listen to yours and ask myself "why the bloody hell didn't I think of that?!". Do they really just pop into your head or do you find there is a lot of trial and error?
2) Reckon you can give me a kick-start and replace Mike Rowe with me on keys? He's a cool guy, but I'll do it for nothing. That gives me the edge right? Oh and I won't f*ck it up - I promise!!
Take it easy Noel, and keep doing what you're doing. Riverman blows my mind."
NG: "1.) Eh - it depends. The great ones usually just pop into your head. And seem to just fall out of the sky. And then some of them you have to work at. There is no golden rule or any rule set in stone for songwritin'. No matter what anybody might tell you, it seems to change from song to song for me. But I guess... I always, always, ALWAYS let the melody dictate the rest. I don't worry about the chords. I just let the melody dictate where the song's going to go and sometimes they're great and sometimes they're not
2.) Well, you're in! Cheap labor is my forte, haha."
Question 49:
Sally_cinnamon_: "Hi Noel! First of all, thanks for giving us so much great music. You truly are a godlike genius
My question for you is: where did your sense of humor and talent for storytelling come from? Because I think you are genuinely one of the funniest people in the world seemingly without even trying
Also, do you still think dogs in hats and sunglasses are hilarious?"
NG: "Well - dogs in hats and sunglasses - there is *NOTHING* funnier than a dog in a hat
Ehm - I don't know. My sense of humor, I don't know. It's Irish, it must've been passed down to me from somebody in Ireland."
Question 50:
Jeavo: "Hi Noel, thanks for doing this AMA
If at all any, what video games do you play?"
NG: "I don't play video games
I have a life. And that life is too short for video games
Some of my band play video games on tour. It drives me up the fucking wall. And it's one of the main reasons why I'll probably fire the fucking lot of them on this tour."
Question 51:
Shivan21: "Hi Noel! I've always wondered about the meaning of D'you know what I mean video, and especially the fact that there is Be Here Now and D'you know what I mean written in czech language. The video has very 60's atmosphere for me and they are also alluded by Beatles references. Considering the military choppers, could be the video understood as refering to the Prague Spring in 1968?"
NG: "No. Okay. The video for "D'You know what I mean" was shot on the deserted set of FULL METAL JACKET, which is still - you can still visit it in London - so it's an old, disused gasworks in London. The Czech writing, I'm not sure what that's all about, I thought it was Vietnamese writin'. The choppers was a reference to Vietnam. What any of that has to do with the fucking song is beyond me. I don't even know what the song's about, never mind the video!"
Question 52:
Brutalful: "Hi Noel
I am curious what (if anything) is still on your bucket list?
If you have done it all, what are your top 5 moments in life, and is playing with Johnny Marr on that list?
Cheers!"
NG: "Okay. First of all - a bucket list is the most fucking ludicrous fucking term I've ever heard, in my life
BUT
I would like someday to record an album in New York. I would also like to have Dave Gilmore play on a track for me. And Jeff Beck. I think that's about it
Oh, actually, I also still think that one day I'm going to write the greatest song in the world."
Question 53:
Nathanoasis: "Hello Noel! Your music is incredible, all 20 years of it, and it has changed my life. Thank you for that and thank you for doing this AMA. I have a question about the song that is going around the Internet under the name "Bye Bye My Family" (and "Don't Stop the Happenin'" and "Hold Back the Night"). From what we've heard, the song sounds amazing. Will this song ever be recorded and released? Thank you again and keep on being an absolute fucking legend!"
NG: "chuckles
I pretty much just answered that question about 20 minutes ago. It's a song called "Don't Stop..."
I've already recorded it. It didn't make it onto "Chasing Yesterday" because it sounded a bit too much like what was already on the first High Flying Birds album
But it will be released, in, you know... soon!"
Question 54:
MidnightPizza: "Hello Mr. Gallagher! I'd like to thank you for all the music you wrote. I hope to see one of your show soon and maybe pay you a beer. Here are my questions:
1) Are you still thinking about doing an album with Damon Albarn? What do you think about The Magic Whip, Blur's latest album?
2) What's your opinion about Dave Sardy's input on your work? Some people think that your latest work (especially your first solo album) could've been better without him and that producing Chasing Yesterday yourself was refreshing. I personally enjoy the Dave Sardy produced albums as much as any other album you wrote
Anyway, congratulation on Chasing Yesterday. It really is a great album."
NG: "1.) Ehm - the thing with Damon was a flippant comment as casually thrown around as "We should go for a drink." As for makin' an album, I would be amazed if either of us ever had the time to make that work. As for "The Magic Whip," I like the tracks "Lonesome Street" and "Ong Ong" - I haven't heard any of the rest of it, but if those two tracks are anything to go by, sounds like it's going to be good
2.) Ehm - his input was fantastic. And at the time, invaluable. And I couldn't have got my solo career off the ground without him. All that being said - you know, my record, this record, "Chasing Yesterday," sounds that good. With any producer, it's all about the relationship, as opposed to the skills that they can bring. But me and Dave, you know, still to this day we remain good friends, and maybe we'll work together again in the future."
Question 55:
SnakeArms: "Hi Noel! In ALL of your interviews you've said that the original verses to 'Lock All The Doors' went to The Chemical Brother's 'Setting Sun’, which is weird, because the 1993 demos we have suggest that the songs original verses were instead used in 'My Sister Lover' and the verses that went to 'Setting Sun' came from a different demoed song 'Coming on Strong'. Have we missed something or does any of this sound true at all??
Oh, and what happened to 'Slow' and 'The Red, White & Blue'?!"
NG: "You should bear in mind that my memory's not the best
If you're telling me it's from a different song, then I would probably agree
I'd like to think that the Chemical Brothers story is a better STORY though
So let's keep that between us."
Question 56:
LittleWoodstock: "Hey Noel, big fan of all your work!
Is your work any different with the High Flying Birds than it was with Oasis? Are there any aspects from the Oasis days you miss?"
NG: "I miss... the camaraderie of being in a band, in the studio. That is to say, there are massive benefits - by makin' a record on your own, you can change direction very very quickly. And you don't have to run things by "the committee" of band members
On the other hand, it's great to share, you know... to share the greatness with other people, d'you know what I mean? If I can give you an analogy, you know, the more people at a party, the better
Shrugs
Although it's sometimes nice to party on your own."
Question 57:
MONTREAL_COME_ON: "WHY TORONTO AND NOT MONTREAL? we've got a better hockey club and our football team is getting better every year."
NG: "Because I went to a fucking donut shop once in Montreal, and all the staff spoke French! And last time I looked - France was on the other side of the fucking world
So I say to the people of Montreal - au revoir
Hahahaha!"
Question 58:
ExtremelySexyMan: "Hey Noel, first off, huge fan, thanks for doing this
My question is, after writing great songs for more than 20 years now, where do you get your inspiration for new material? I imagine it to be the most difficult part of being a musician, and I am continually blown away by your work
Cheers, and go City!"
NG: "Ehm... I guess I'm a product of my record collection, which is ever-expanding and gets ever-more eclectic. And I don't ever sit down when I'm writin' a song and feel like I've got anything profound to say to the universe... I just - to coin the phrase from that godawful film FROZEN... I just let it go... let it go!
Smiles"
Question 59:
Stevie_j: "Noel, thanks for many years of amazing music. Please don't stop
Have you ever thought of doing a comedy tour? Seriously."
NG: "HA!!!!
Fucking hell - NO.”

Hi everyone, I wanted to tell you about my recent purchases. I thought that it might be interesting to you or we could talk a little bit to get to know each other better. :)
One day, passing by an antique store, I saw a box of old vinyl records, where each of them cost $1.10. I was elated since it was a great opportunity to buy some albums I love (in my country, vinyl records cost more than $45), even though I don't have a vinyl player.
Yesterday, I decided to go there to find Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple vinyls, but after looking through every record, I was disappointed - there were no rock records, not mentioning metal. Then, I turned towards the exit and saw the seller who took out a small box with new CDs. He unpacked it and went to the back room, leaving everything on the table. Why not take a look at them, flashed through my mind, and I came closer to see.
And the first CD I saw was "Brave New World" by Iron Maiden. The second was "The Number Of The Beast" (still by Iron Maiden).
The seller came to me, and I asked how much BNW cost. He said $5.49. My eyes widened, and I remembered a Deep Purple CD, which cost $23.05. I thought it was an awesome chance - I sincerely wanted to collect vinyl records and / or CDs. But then the seller told me he did't know how much they REALLY cost and started to search. My heart nearly stopped when he said, "That one costs actually $16.46." I looked down, but then the seller added, "But since I said $5.49, it will be $5.49 for you." I held out the money in relief and gratitude and smiled stupidly, saying only, "Thank you a lot!"
So, I bought BNW and TNOTB for $10.98 instead of $32.39, which are the first compact disks in my life (I swear, I had never even touched CD and vinyl before this store). (Congrats, Elliot. 🤣)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, a few days ago, I was at the fair. There, I've seen many bags, jewelry, clothes, anime merch and so on. I wanted to buy something for my mom, but there was nothing she would like. I nearly got upset, but then a shop with metal T-shirts and patches caught my eye. My eyes run wide from a huge selection!
There was a lot of stuff: T-shirts, bracelets, patches.... I'll get tired of listing everything! 🤣
I loved Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Judas Priest T-shirts, although there were more. I already had Iron Maiden one, so I asked the seller to show me LZ and JP T-shirts. She said there left no Judas Priest ones of my size, but she had three of Led Zeppelin. And I couldn't hold myself and bought this. (The first photo: front side; the second photo: backside)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I couldn't help but buy two patches of my favorite Russian bands (I'm not Russian, just saying). I haven't seen their merch anywhere, which is explainable, but I found these patches at the fair. (First photo: Ария (Aria); second photo: Алиса (Alice))

That is all, thank you for attention! Have a nice day!

My Personal Peter Parker Headcanons
Part 1/?
Tumblr media
He’s a big fan of the Epic Rap Battles of History, so much so that he can tell you which battle is playing after only hearing the first few opening notes of the beat, and he knows all the words for every battle
When Taylor Swift started rereleasing her old albums, he became a hardcore Swiftie. He buys all kinds of merch (for himself and for you if you’re into Taylor’s stuff), he buys whatever album she drops next, and he dives head first into Taylor Nation Twitter, making conspiracy theories about what album is coming next and over-analyzing every single post she or her team makes to see what hints he can find, and you make fun of him even though you do the same thing
When he’s sad for any reason, he becomes a “Blanket Burrito”, aka he lays a blanket on the floor, lays down on the end of it, then rolls himself across the floor so he becomes cocooned in the blanket and just lays there on the floor in whatever position he ends up in after he’s completely wrapped up
He likes leaving little sticky notes around with cute messages on them for you to find, like one on your bathroom mirror that says “you look beautiful today” or one stuck to your car keys that says “you drive me crazy in the best way”, because he must always pun
One of his favorite shows is New Girl, and you always tell him how he’s like a weird combination of Nick and Schmidt, which he agrees with. He also always says “I refuse to pay for the wiffi!” and “Are you the criminals?! From the statistics?!” unironically, so it works
He volunteers at animal shelters in his spare time to hang out with all the dogs and cats because he frickin loves animals, and you have to go with him to prevent him from adopting all of them
He gets really into Doctor Who after finally caving and getting HBO Max, and his favorite Doctor is 11 because he’s an awkward beanpole like he is. You and him even go to New York Comicon as Clara and 11, and he even made his own sonic screwdriver
He needs to buy really strong sunscreen (I’m talking SPF 100) because he burns so easily. Like, he can’t even take out the garbage without putting on sunscreen because if he stays outside just a few seconds longer than he needs to, he has to bathe in aloe gel
He’s addicted to garlic bread. Dude can house an entire box of Texas Toast in one sitting, and still have room for more garlic bread
He can only drink coffee if it’s 90% cream and sugar, or if he can’t tell it’s coffee from the taste of it, so he is in heaven during Pumpkin Spice Latte season, because then he doesn’t have to dump half a container of creamer into his coffee to be able to caffeinate
He tells everybody his favorite movie is Empire Strikes Back, but it’s actually the movie adaptation of Moulin Rouge from 2001. He thinks nobody knows, but you heard him singing El Tango de Roxanne in the shower once. You’ve never told anybody, but only because it’s good blackmail material
For some reason, his spider powers gave him an extreme aversion to peppermint or peppermint flavored things (because apparently spiders don’t like peppermint), so instead of getting weird looks from people when he tells them he doesn’t like peppermint anymore, he just lies and tells everybody that he randomly developed a really bad allergy to peppermint that makes his tongue swell up and gives him a rash so they don’t ask questions
He still can’t tie a necktie, no matter how many tutorials on YouTube he watches, so you always have to do it for him
He starts collecting vinyl records after he found an old record player in a dumpster and fixed it up. You do a bunch of googling to find secondhand record stores near you, and you make a whole day out of wandering around all of them and finding the best deals
He still thinks the screaming goat meme is hilarious, and he still makes edits using that clip to send to MJ and Ned to lovingly harass them
He buys cookie dough with the intention of making cookies, but you guys just end up eating it raw because salmonella be damned
He is a serial phone charger loser, so he always buys the really cheap ones from the dollar store so he doesn’t lose any really nice ones. He’s only had to replace the charging brick once, but he always misplaces the power cord to a point where it’s kind of ridiculous
He acts annoyed when you do it, but he actually loves it when you steal his Midtown Tech sweatshirt because it’s ginormous on you and gives you sweater paws. He also thinks it’s kinda cute when you flap the sleeves around like the absolute dork that you are and pretend to smack him with them

hi emmy!! ♡ I hope you're doing well !! I wanted to ask for a ship, preferably for the Pacific :) um so here's some information on me!
Brief description of my looks; Curly hair that's brown with highlights of blonde and red. It's like a mixture of my parents hair colours. I am tall, 175cm. Fashion wise; Starting to get into more of some sort of punk fashion. I like fashion in general but punk fashion has been especially cool as of late, imo. Band tees!! I wait for the day a pretentious man asks me for songs by the hand; I'll list a whole album to spite the man. My friend calls me her scary dog privilege !! The same friend (I love her sm) labeled my eyes sea glass. My facial expressions are either sorrowful or a bit stand-offish. No in-between.
Personality; As you can tell I can be talkative but in that same sense, I am very quiet. I enjoy observing rather than speaking. I am a bit shy and tend to blush rather easily. Oftentimes, people find me to be therapeutic which has its ups and downs. I have the tendency to act like a leader, it just comes naturally? Especially if there are people much younger than me in a group setting. I love making jokes. I love seeing people smile and enjoy the moment, that's the most beautiful sight. I have photoshopped cowboy hats onto pictures of my friends & set those photos as their contact pictures. I don't think this is a personality trait but I'll say it; I am Jewish. Oh! So important thing to me; Music!! I listen to music all the time. Some bands I enjoy include; the pogues, the clash, second thoughts, the ramones, joy division, stone roses. The list goes on, actually here's a band name that'll make you laugh; "The nipples erectors" um, don't ask me lmao. Anyway!! I'm an equestrian, english discipline. Oh, I love geography!! I'm trying to memorize the world map. I write. Like a lot. I'm passionate about a lot... oh yeah, I suppose I need to mention I struggle with depression & have a baggage that I'd rather not say out loud... but it exists and greatly distorts how I view my body. also if this helps; I'm an infp and type 3 enneagram.
Anyway, thanks!! Mwah!!
Hi babe!! honestly i feel like you and i would be fashion twins irl!! your style sounds so cool ngl <3
I ship you with:
Bob Leckie from The Pacific!
Tumblr media
ship theme song: She's My Religion by Pale Waves
okay Leckie lowkey needs and craves a punk bitch gf!!
the man tries so hard to be an edgelord stg
he needs a punk queen in his life!!!
i feel like he would just see you walking down the street one day
and he's just like
"god damn... this girl is my QUEEN"
is it your sea glass-colored eyes that captivated him first?
or your ripped fishnets and doc martens??
who can say???
dude probably writes romantic emo poetry about you at 2am in his bedroom
literally pining after you and he works up the nerve to finally ask you out
like Leckie, you're either very quiet or a chatterbox
no in between
he appreciates your quietness and conversation equally
Leckie thinks its so dang cute when you blush
so he tries to make you blush often
over the most stupid stuff, too!
he loves going on double dates with you and Runner and his gf
or Chuckler and his gf
and your natural leadership tendencies take over
he'll just smile at you stupidly
but inside he's just like
"oh yeah... that's my dang gf >:)"
he's so intrigued by your Jewish heritage
he loves going to Passover at your family's place each year
your parents are totally smitten with him
but his most favorite thing to do with you is to go to the record store on Saturdays
he'll let you pick out as many records as you want
and will gladly buy them for you
depend on Leckie to fuel your music addiction >:)
he loves how passionate you are about everything you do
he considers himself really lucky to know a girl like you <3
also, Leckie is deals with his own certain type of baggage
so he's no stranger to anxiety and depression
he hopes that you'll share your worries and doubts with him
and he'll be open and truthful with you as well :)

I dont write anymore. I thought this, thought why?, and then immediately wrote my answer as if it was waiting in the wings. feel like im monologing into a reel recorder~memorializing~
my mom said her favorite color is orange i remember where i was in the kitchen of the new jersey house so 70s it makes me whirl with sudden recognition of my place in the unfurling ribbon, false time, fake decades, significant by colors, what IS and is NOT okay, women. i wonder if she and i were in the kitchen after dinner today and i was once again lost in the spider vein on the back of her thigh, If i asked her again- what would she say? would her opinion still feel like it was conceived on the spot? i imagine her shuffling a crayon box in her mind trying to inhabit the right to care, trying to reckon with the fact that someone else would care. i cared enough to keep it in my head forever filed with the other Very Important Facts, like "righty tighty lefty loosy" and to coun the seconds between lighting and thunder. I feel with some certainty that i will be my grandmother lost on the way back from the bathroom but it seems impossible that i would ever lose my mom choosing orange. privately i tried to cope with the dissonance of an orange woman who owned nothing of the sort but the previous owner's shag carpeting sewn into the floor. but she liked the orange starburst best. she liked the orange slice candy-enough that she would buy small clear plastic containers of them from the grocery store and keep them up on the higher shelf of the pantry with the things like salt, baking powder, flour-the things only she would use. something for herself! these are the things i wont forget. i think even before i knew WHY it mattered, i knew that finding any trace of my mother in my house jumped out like the rarest treasure-baffling every time, orange slice candy holding this sort of ancient feminine mystique up there next to the food coloring drops we'd used twice a year- crescent crystal crusted goo here is the soul of a woman i knew i wanted to but couldn't know. she is somewhere behind the role. she is kept in clear plastic.
there is one song my mom ever said she liked (adele's rolling in the deep! a good choice!) i was in the car of the van years later. i had given up on asking. but she offered! music! i couldn't hold the all of her in my mind. i couldn't make it make sense. my mom who used to drive us home from practice in silence because 'she needed it' i was too young and too heartless to understand and so i judged her mercilessly . i should have realized this was as much a moment of HER as the orange candy. she chooses silence. all meaning aside- there she was. but id roll my eyes rather than see her too teen too resentful at this point and later id insult her to my friends 'she has no soul, she doesn't even like music!'. i didnt know it was okay to grieve a missing woman replaced by a perfect mother. i still don't know HOW maybe. me and my grief are kept in heirloom plastic container, still some sticky orange sugar crystals crusted in the corners. me and my grief live alone now and i don't need silence but I forget there is an alternative. sometimes for weeks
at dinner, in the NJ house mostly, when he was almost as child as i am now, my dad would tell stories of his life. the highlights practiced anecdotes a cadence of something repeated, with character voices, heroes villians. i still know the names of the children on my dads street when he grew up, what grew in the garden, his favorite albums in college. i can conjur the imagery like he was the protagonist in a book ive read a couple times over. my dad spills off the dinner table. is all his life at once printed along the time ribbon.
if you asked her any question, tried to know her before we were born- she had a look on her face like someone caught daydreaming in class no idea of the page number. she said she didnt remember. anything??? college would have been only ten years before or less. i still don't know how to cope with what that means if it were true. with what it means that my father didnt even try to help fill in the blanks. he knew her then too. what happened? where did she come from? where did she go? old enough at five to smell the sadness. id lay awake and senseless truths would come crushing in from all angles. in the dark down was up and ‘original sin' and 'infinity’ and the missing girl on the milk carton of my mother -earth,air and sky-seeing a wrongness so ingrained the adults are walking right through it without a wince as if it’s not there at all! feeling the cliff edge of mind where something dangles and dances never can be truly grasped. I tried to tell them "my bed feels like it is tipping". hoping this would be a layup-“snow is frozen, the e is silent, here is how to hold a pencil and here is how to hold the existential weight here is why you can stop asking” No. but you will grow into the gravity. You will forget where the cliff is entirely or grow tired on the way, maybe you will put up a fence. You will walk right through the solid wrongness and feel nothing at all. you may grow to find yourself sorted with the baking ingredients. the things that shine seasonally. you’ll be up on the high shelf wrapped in plastic having no idea how it came to be.

i think doug eiffel would be a really good gift giver since, like. he's got such a thing about his own birthday, and he can be very thoughtful when it comes to the people he cares about. i'm sure he was amazing at picking gifts for anne. he knows exactly what kids are going to be excited about because he's kinda just an overgrown kid himself. like, he's picking stuff he also thinks is awesome. eiffel is just waiting for any excuse to buy toys; i know that must have been one of the most exciting things for him as a new dad.
eiffel gives minkowski a hard time about her birthday (why does she get star wars day? unfair.) but she's always pleasantly surprised by his gifts - things she mentioned in passing months ago, that she didn't think he was even paying attention to, and that he knew she wouldn't get for herself. he brings little things for hera all the time - flowers, seashells, whatever trinkets he thinks she'll like. when she finds some favorite albums, he buys her records (as well as copies of her favorite books), and he's kinda embarrassed at first that they're always secondhand, but she genuinely likes that better. especially if she can't physically, personally interact with them, she likes objects that have a history, that look a little worn and well-loved. lovelace is probably the hardest to shop for - i think she's more interested in experiences than things, and i don't think spending time with doug eiffel is... at all what she wants as a gift, literally ever - but he could probably find a way to get his hands on some sports tickets or something she'd like.
i really believe it's about the thought, anyway. i don't think eiffel has ever had money to spare, it's not like he's buying anything fancy, but he is... surprisingly thoughtful, at times.

So uh...I have been debating something. I was originally going to eventually do an Album Showcase on Neurosis' The Eye of Every Storm and Sovereign. Today I was at my local record store and I saw their other album, Times of Grace, and thought "Oh this would be cool to review this as well" but as I was buying it the guys ringing it up talked about how he saw them live some years ago and that the album is one of of their best. But then it was brought up that one of the members was recently kicked out and was a bad dude. That it is a good album but the lead guy behind it sucks. I was just taken aback because I just found out now.
I got home and looked into it...it was Scott Kelly. The lead singer and guitarist of the band admitted in 2022 that he had been abusing his wife and children for years. The band quietly fired him in 2019 and didn't go public for the safety of the wife and kids. Which I can get that, they didn't want any music tabloid and other assholes making a spectacle out of this for some "juicy drama" shit. It wasn't the band that decided to do that quietly on their own, it was Scott's wife who asked. Which again, I get. I know how metal fans can get when their favorite musician is outed for being an abuser. Hell, when a metal musician is outed for doing anything vile. She wanted to protect herself and her family. Right now I hope his wife and kids are now doing better and are away from him. I don't anyone to try to figure out who the wife and kids are, they deserve privacy and safety. I feel sorry for the band members who did not know. Whatever choice the band makes be it continuing on as a band without him or disbanding I will support. Don't go harassing the band members for the decisions they made. They had every right to fire him for the pain he caused to his family. I am glad they kicked him out which I know it is a low bar but I have seen bands keep abusers in or temporarily kick them out and then welcome them back in like nothing happened. Yeah, I know Scott chose to retire from music and public life which in my opinion is for the better since now he won't be around a community that does enable to downplay the abuse towards women and children. I know it sucks hearing that but as someone who has been part of the metal community for years I have seen it repeatedly.
Now this does leave me in an odd position of now having three CDs from this band. Do I choose to review it but repeat the information of what Scott did? Or do I just not review the albums at all? Though there is the third option of just reviewing the albums but use it as a bigger talking point about how shitty people can make well skilled art. Which I might go for that. Not to downplay what he has done but to bring up the sad fact that not every shitty person makes not well made art. But I have time to decide what to do. In the mean time I have to find which boxes my other Neurosis cds are and sell them.

Know More About ZuP And His Latest Album - For Me Singer/ rapper and songwriter ZuP is an artist who doesn’t classify himself ‘Musician’ but rather a Music Maker, because of the type of music he produces, his songs are so nice that they can’t be categorized into a particular genre. He started making music at a very young age, and since he started, he realized it was something he really connected with, he felt whole whenever he was doing something music related. ZuP took made a conscious effort of moving away from the music scene for some time because he found himself in some dark places. But fortunately, he found his way back in 2020. ZuP is mainly focused on making music that other people can relate to, songs you can relate to emotionally or can dance to, you can call it two-in-one. “When I started making music, I was writing rap songs that I had no business making. Rapping about the 24” rims on my Cadillac… when in all reality I had factory rims on a Chevy Corsica haha. Then it evolved into a little bit of singing mixed in with semi-relatable lyrics in my raps, to being vulnerable myself and putting myself out there a little bit more and mostly singing with a sprinkle of rap in there.” – This according to ZuP is how his music evolved. In a recent interview with Mister Styx of Musicarenagh ZuP delve deeper into his personal life and touched on his latest album “For Me” which he stated he made for himself, although he claims he made the album for himself, I feel the album was made for me as well, so I guess the album was made for us all. For Me has a total of 11 songs on it and spans over 39 minutes 38 seconds, and my favourite off the album is Better Off, but I have to admit all the songs on For me are fire, the rap, the bass, the production, everything is top notch, this 6 years hiatus really paid off. ZuP had more to say in the interview, get the full story below: Listen to For Me below https://open.spotify.com/album/2iSzC9K03fl2Ekus8zcDmM ALTERNATIVE POP ALTERNATIVE INDIE R&B HIP-HOP ROCK POP INDIE POP POP COMMERCIAL POP SINGER-SONGWRITER Band (Full Band Sound) RAP US RAP MALE VOCALS EASY LISTENING SUPER CATCHY US BASED ANTHEMIC GROOVE   Follow ZuP on Facebook Twitter Spotify Youtube Instagram Songkick What is your stage name ZuP Is there a story behind your stage name? It’s part of my last name. When I was in high school I had a friend that used to call me Yung Zup… and it just stuck. Well, ZuP did, not the “Yung” haha! Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in everyday things. We as human beings love the feeling of connection. It reassures us that we are not alone. I try to draw inspiration from conversations I may have had, or break ups, or tragedies in my life. I could be having just a really good day for no reason at all, and want to write about it to bottle that feeling up for others to enjoy. What was the role of music in the early years of your life? Music played a huge role in my early years. My parents used to have cassette tapes with a bunch of their favorite songs and I would put my Walkman on and fall asleep listening to them. As I got a little older, I would ride my bike to the local record store and buy CDs that I had never heard of before to expand my range of music! Are you from a musical or artistic family? Sort of. My grandmother on my mother’s side of the family is an incredible painter. My mother was also heavily involved in the theater when she was younger. My father always wanted to be a radio DJ but never fully pursued that avenue. Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry? That’s a tough question but I guess I would have to say The Beastie Boys. I used to listen to their albums and write all the lyrics down. I would even change my handwriting for each member's lyrics. That then got me into writing my own rhymes and lyrics. How did you learn to sing/write/to play? A lot of practice/ trial and error. I would listen to so much music and overtime I knew what I l
iked. I like how this musician sings in this key, or I like how the drums sound in these songs, or I like what this artist is saying. I took the things I loved about music and tried to emulate them. When I first started out I didn’t know anyone who produced or made beats, so I sort of figured it out myself. I then bought a piano and took piano lessons and chipped away at it all day every day. [caption id="attachment_48231" align="alignnone" width="720"] A lot of practice/ trial and error. I would listen to so much music and overtime I knew what I liked[/caption] What was the first concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform? I actually went to a couple concerts of my friends' bands before I ever saw a national act live. The first concert (with national acts) that I ever went to though was thrown by a local Cleveland Ohio radio station (Z107.9) and it was a bunch of big rappers and R&B singers at the time. I can’t remember everyone, but I do remember David Banner was incredible. Still one of the funnest performances I’ve ever seen. How could you describe your music? I never know how to answer this question. My music is a mixture of a bunch of different genres. A little bit of pop mixed with alternative mixed with hip-hop mixed with R&B mixed with a little reggae. No matter the style though, I try to make it relatable. Describe your creative process. It all depends on the song. My process on this new album mostly started with a concept idea and then I’d start humming different melodies while sprinkling keywords in until I found something I really liked. I always make sure I get the chorus done first. I’ll pull out my MPC and start working on the beat and then start piecing in the rest of the song from there. What is your main inspiration? My friends and family. They all inspire me to be the best version of myself. What musician do you admire most and why? I really admire Kenrick Lamar. This is a guy who isn’t afraid to take risks within the hip-hop genre. Each of his albums have a different theme and feel. His vulnerability and honesty is what really draws me into his music. When he puts out an album, I know it’s going to be an “album” and not just a cluster of songs. I admire that about him. Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career? Oh yeah definitely. I think that comes with age, experience, and confidence. When I started making music, I was writing rap songs that I had no business making. Rapping about the 24” rims on my Cadillac… when in all reality I had factory rims on a Chevy Corsica haha. Then it evolved into a little bit of singing mixed in with semi relatable lyrics in my raps, to being vulnerable myself and putting myself out there a little bit more and mostly singing with a sprinkle of rap in there. Who do you see as your main competitor? Somebody told me that “the only person in your way is you” and I believe that. I don’t really look at other musicians as competition. As a fan of all music, I want everyone to be able to share their story. What are your interests outside of music? I love to draw, so you can catch me cooking up some art. I also love to hop on Xbox once a week with my crew and play some Sea of Thieves. I love going on adventures and trying new things with my girlfriend… grabbing drinks and wings with my friends. My calendar is always full. If it wasn't a music career, what would you be doing? If I had the choice?!?! …oh man, a storm chaser. Buckle me up in a heavy duty car and drive me into a tornado! What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music? Keeping up with the new trends. I took a few years off from music and when I came back, everything was different. I was like, “what is a TikTok?” haha, it has been an adjustment… but that’s what also makes it exciting. Life would be boring without a speed bump along the way. If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be? Local radio stations showing more love to independent music
ians. There are some great unsigned artists out there that would benefit from radio plays. I find new artists all the time from Spotify playlists or Reels on Instagram… gone are the days of discovering somebody new on the radio. Why did you choose this as the title of this project? As I stated before, I took about 6 years off of music. I was in a dark place that I had no real way of getting out of. 2020 Changed that for me and I had the opportunity to start creating again. The one thing I told myself when I started this album was, “don’t do this for anybody but yourself.” I didn’t make this album because people asked me to, I made this album because I needed to. This album is “For Me”. What are your plans for the coming months? I have a couple concerts lined up for this year. First being my album release party on April 29th, which I am so excited for. Besides that, keep pushing this album every way I can! Do you have any artistic collaboration plans? I have a couple lined up, but besides that I am always down to collab! What message would you like to give to your fans? To everyone who has been along for this journey for years, thank you. It means everything to me that you are still around and listening to what I have created. To anyone new reading this that just recently heard my music or is going to listen after this interview, I hope you enjoy it. The universe has put me in pretty nasty situations in the past and I felt like it was my duty to share those stories with you all. I hope my music resonates with you. I hope you cry, I hope you laugh, I hope you dance, I hope you feel seen. Thank you so much for reading! See ya’ll soon!

Abridged Biography
Ryo Kurokiba grew up in a mansion, never his home. The mansion was owned by the famous popstar Leonara De Vries and her old money husband Soue Nakiri. His mother was Leonara’s makeup artist, stylist and most beloved friend. By some twist of fate (or perhaps the bizarre determination of female best friends) they each had their first and only child in the year 1995. Alice Nakiri and Ryo were inseparable from the age they could crawl. They were always very competitive with each other, especially when it came to music.
In 2011, only a few months after Ryo created their joint Soundcloud, one of their songs went viral. With the help of Leonara, they pretty much instantly landed a record deal at a major label under the name ARISU. Alice was the face and voice of their operation, Ryo the brains and hands. Their debut album, released in 2012, was a massive success. In 2013, they met Akira Hayama, an actor and musician, and two became three, professionally and romantically.
Things fell apart like they always do, slowly and then all at once. Succumbing to the pressure, Alice developed depression and anxiety and her self-medicating turned into addiction. In late 2016, six weeks before the scheduled release of their third album, Alice violently attempted suicide. Ryo was the one to find her. She would spend the next two years in a rehabilitation center. Akira threw himself back into acting. Ryo spent three months with his grandma in Okinawa, finished the business administration degree he’d been working on online, and moved across the country to work at a Fortune 500 company. Not wanting to put misplaced blame anywhere it wasn’t deserved, Ryo didn’t talk to either of them for months.
He eventually contacted Akira after seeing him on a movie poster, his first project since everything went down. Their friendship continued in relative normalcy, turning sexual whenever they would end up in each other’s cities; that is, until Akira settled down with someone else a few years later. Now some kid calls him Uncle Ryo.
Ryo and Alice only communicated through email at first but after he visited her at rehab on her birthday it became easier for them to talk on the phone. She made the decision not to return to Hollywood as well, at least not anytime soon. He visits her every year on her birthday and sees her on holidays at the Nakiri mansion, but not past that. It’s mostly a self-imposed distance, on Ryo’s part. Despite what she says, he is of the opinion that things will never be the same and he will always serve as a reminder of the most painful time in her life. There's also the image of her covered in blood and dying in his arms to deal with.
Random HCs, etc
he considers himself healed for the most part but his attachment and dedication to his job is in part a trauma response. he's seen the result of burnout and too much pressure on someone who can't handle it firsthand. that's why he tries so hard to make kiana's life as easy as possible, is always checking on her, etc
his mom taught him to do makeup and hair and how to dress nice. it was a big bonding thing for them.
he had to use the last of his savings to buy out his contract with the record label
he hasn't been in a serious relationship since alice/akira
occasionally he gets recognized by the odd fan but it's rare. his hair was bleached or buzzed for most of the time arisu active and he wears a suit most days now which he never did back then
it’s always been difficult for him to express himself, emotionally; that’s part of why he got so into writing lyrics in the first place.
after fucked up hard days he sits in his living room with a drink and listens to their unreleased songs from high school, or their unreleased third album.
he avoids social media like the plague for a variety of reasons
he still plays piano regularly
it's not exactly a secret but if someone at work brought up his career as a musician he would unironically ask kiana to fire them for harassment
i think it would be hilarious if before kiana knew about his past there was a situation in which they needed heavy connections to get something or get in somewhere but they weren't recognizing kiana for whatever reason and ryo was like "uh i'm on akira hayama's list actually" to get them in and kiana broke her neck like wtf are you talking about

Dark Green Energy Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians (A&M) (released in 1991)
I’m not sure how on Earth I didn’t know of the existence of this three track EP on vinyl (and if I did I most certainly forgot) but when I saw it on eBay I didn’t even check it for quality nor did I check it’s cost equivalencies on discogs, I just snapped it up without any thought or guilt!  I’m trying to reduce my purchases this year in comparison to last year but also because I have some rather costly purchases I’m looking forward to making in terms of specific artists back catalogs.
Since I consider Hitchcock to be my favorite artist, I’m always game to snap up anything of us I find that I don’t own, so this is most certainly something I would have sprung for regardless of what plans I have for the future of my record buying career.  I have the promo CD, but I certainly do not recall ever seeing this (and I am a guy who trawls endlessly on catalogs via discogs) on LP.  And it is different on CD than it is on vinyl than it is on CD and I’m not just talking about the artwork (which is as similar as one can get without being identical).
Below you will find the front and the back of the wallet card that it came in as a CD promo.  Notice that on the CD the first track is Ultra Unbelievable Love while the LP opens with Dark Green Energy.

Robyn Hitchcock doesn’t release a lot of B-Sides or outtakes but he most certainly did in tandem with Perspex Island, the album Ultra Unbelievable Love comes from.  I have another three track EP on CD that contains So You Think You’re In Love (also from Perspex Island)  with two previously unreleased tracks: Watch Your Intelligence and a cover of the Byrds’ Eight Miles High.  Then if you manage to find a copy of the A&M Greatest Hits package from Hitchcock & The Egyptians you will find yet another 1991 outtake She Doesn’t Exist.  What is most surprising about Dark Green Energy and She Doesn’t Exist is that the co-vocalist on them is Michael Stipe.  Hearing Stipe on another artist’s work is rare but REM and Hitchcock were mates somehow and I find these two tracks to be very unusual in Hitchcock’s catalog due to Stipe’s appearance.  I like them both considerably but that doesn’t mean they aren’t outliers (although I do think She Doesn’t Exist sounds more like a Hitchcock outtake than Dark Green Energy).
6 Feb 2023 update: And as it should because it appears on Birds In Perspex which this three track EP was promoting.  It has been so long since I’ve heard Birds In Perspex I had forgotten She Doesn’t Exist appears on the album!
Below you will find the CD for the Ultra Unbelievable Love promo.

Below you will find the labels for both the A and B side of the Dark Green Energy promo.
