Baby Romanoff
Winterwidow x daughter!reader
Summary: Natasha and Buckys baby daughter hates being teased but she won’t stand loosing.
———
In the bustling Avengers Tower, a rainy day kept everyone indoors for lunch. Natasha, sat at the dining table with her husband, Bucky, and their precious daughter, Y/N. All the avengers had gathered for lunch in the tower kitchen due to the storm outside.
Dressed in only your diaper, you sat in your high chair, enjoying a bowl of mashed raspberries and strawberries. Your fingers clumsily grabbed at the spoon, trying to feed yourself. The Avengers, seated around the table, couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight.
As the thunder rumbled outside, your attention turned toward the towering clouds visible through the window. With your tiny arm outstretched, you pointed excitedly, your precious green eyes widening with curiosity. Just then, 7 year old Peter, Tony Stark's son, walked by, catching a glimpse of you in your high chair.
Mischievous by nature, Peter couldn't resist a little teasing. He reached out and snatched the spoon from your tiny hand, causing you to erupt in a chorus of incoherent gibberish. Your face scrunched up in displeasure, you gave Peter your signature Romanoff glare, you made sure your message was clear – the spoon was yours, and you wanted it back.
Tony, noticing the commotion, intervened, playfully scolding his son. "Alright, Peter, give it back. Don't tease her." But Peter, enjoying the teasing, held the spoon just out of your reach. His laughter filled the room as he stretched his arm away from your tiny grasp.
Your determination kicked into high gear. With lightning speed, you latched onto Peter's outstretched arm, using your tiny fingers to pinch him. Caught off guard, Peter dropped the spoon, and with your amazing reflexes, deftly caught it mid-air, a victorious smile lighting up your face.
The Avengers were amazed by your lightning-quick reflexes, applauding the little triumph. You were indeed a force to be reckoned with, inheriting your mama's resilient spirit and your papa's unwavering strength. With your face, the spitting image of Natasha, and your dark red hair mirroring your mother's, you were a sight to behold.
Bucky, always quick with a witty remark, turned to Peter and grinned. "This is why you don't challenge Romanoffs, kid."
Peter, a little taken aback, couldn't help but retort, "Why did you marry one, then?"
Bucky chuckled and replied, "Well, she's got her ways, but I couldn't resist." His gaze shifted to Natasha, who was making her way over to their daughter.
Natasha scooped you up in her arms, her heart swelling with pride. You giggled and patted the spoon against Natasha's cheek, as if rewarding her for her rescue mission. With a content smile, you handed the spoon back to your mama.
Sam Wilson, watching the scene unfold, rolled his eyes and said, "Of course, she gives it to Natasha."
Natasha smirked and replied, "That's because I'm her mama, Sam. I have special privileges."
The Avengers shared a collective laugh, realizing that the affection you have for your parents was immeasurable. You were their little baby, bringing joy and laughter to their lives. You extended your tiny arms, patting Bucky's cheeks and tugging at his hair, showering your papa with your boundless affection.
None of the avengers could deny the overwhelming adorableness of you and your unwavering devotion to your parents. With your spoon clutched back in your hand, you beamed at the gathered Avengers, as if assuring them that your love was boundless, even if you couldn't express it in words just yet.

Part 1 , Part 3
"Very good, soldier." A voice interrupted the brief silence that had fallen over the room "You have finally completed your training and you're now ready for a very special mission."
The man stepped forward, allowing himself to get a better view of the subject in front of him in the dimness of the room.
You lift your head, every breath coming out in labored breaths, as you took in the sight of the agent in front of you.
Today's training session has been more intense than any other one, demanding you to overuse your powers.
"And what that might be?" You breathed out, straightening your back
The agent smirked "Oh, I can guarantee that you'll love this mission." He sang
"Then I am ready for any mission the organization has for me." You replied, intrigued by all the mystery of this upcoming mission
"That's what we love to hear." The man declared "Then it's time for you to know the target of your mission."
The agent lifted his hand and held a file up, extending it for you to grab.
"You have all the details here." He declared
You curiously opened the file and peeked at the first page inside of it.
You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat unexpectedly but you tried to maintain your composure as the reality of your actions and the identity of your supposed target settled in.
"I can't." You mumbled, your voice betraying your inner turmoil, as you quickly passed the file back to your boss "This wasn't the deal."
The agent chuckled.
"This was very much the deal, young soldier." He coldly replied "As I can remember, this was the plan you asked our help for."
A shiver ran down your spine and the rhythm of your heartbeat quickened its pace.
"No." You hesitantly shook your head "I said I needed help to take my revenge on her." You explained "Not on all of them. Not on him."
"But why stop there?" The agent raised his eyebrow "Why would you want to take your revenge on just one person when you can take it on all of them?"
"Even if it was true, the others are still my family." You reasoned
"Your family?!" The agent shouted, immediately silencing you "Must I remind you that this so-called family of yours abandoned you, that they threw you away as if you were mere trash?"
"It doesn't matter, Sir." You held your ground "I am not going to kill the Avengers."
You blinked.
The agent grabbed you by your vest with such force that, for a second, you weren't able to process what was happening.
"Listen here, Y/N." The agent mockingly whispered your name "This is HYDRA, not that joke of an agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. you grew up in. Your mission is to kill all of the Avengers, starting with those traitors who are now called Natasha Romanoff and Bucky Barnes. Am I clear?"
"Sir..." You tried to conceal the fear you were feeling, failing miserably "Sir, this went too far. I'm sorry but I can't." You shook your head
A shout was heard and your body collided with the cold floor as the HYDRA agent pushed you with all his force.
"Y/N Yelena Romanova." The agent shouted "You have been ours long before Natalia Romanova decided to play pretend that she can be something she was never meant to be." He hissed "A mother."
You kept your mouth shut, too afraid of saying something that might anger the agent more as he continued speaking.
"She stole you from us, gave you another name, just for you to return on your own will to us and ask us for help to get your revenge on her." He reminded you "We took you in, trained you, gave you powers, all just so you could make her pay and now you dare to reject the opportunity to kill them?!"
"Sir, I just..." You tried to defend yourself
"Shut up!" He ordered "I am going to give you three hours to think about your answer just to show you that we can have some understanding towards our subjects and when I'll summon you back to me, I hope I won't regret giving you a chance."
You nodded "Yes, Sir!"
"Now disappear." He pointed with his head towards the door
You stood up from the ground and dusted your clothes before making your way to your assigned room.
-
~~~~~
Your heart pounded in your chest as you sniffled your fear away.
This was what you wanted after all.
This was what you needed.
You needed revenge and this was the only way you could achieve your goal.
Machines hummed and buzzed around you but you tried to not mind their noise as you were keeping your calm demeanor as a façade to protect yourself.
"Alright, subject." A man dressed in a white coat looked at you "Are you ready for this?"
You nodded, determination shining in your tired eyes "As ready as I can be. If this will help me prove to my mother that I can be useful too, then hurry up and do it."
"She's ready." Another man's voice was heard from somewhere inside the room but you couldn't tell exactly who spoke as the restrainents that kept you glued to the cold metallic table stoped you from looking
The man with the white coat pressed a few buttons and in a fraction of a second, pain flooded through your body as waves of electricity swirled around you, sending shocks flooding through your body.
Time seemed to stay still as you screamed out in agony out of pure reflex, your body spasming with each shockwave you received.
In that moment, buried memories resurfaced inside your mind.
You remembered the happier times and a pang of sadness weighed heavy on your heart.
But just as the good memories came to the front of your mind, so did the bad ones, reminding you of the true reason why you came to HYDRA for help.
The Avengers hate HYDRA and HYDRA hates the Avengers.
You hoped that by joining and serving the rival organization, you could make Natasha realize how wrong she was for treating you like she did.
You hoped to make them feel betrayed and rejected.
Just as you felt.
Darkness enveloped you, and your weakened body stopped spasming, but one thing remained clear as daylight to you.
You will take your revenge on your family for their betrayal by serving their greatest enemy, HYDRA.
~~~~~
You stared at the cement ceiling of your cell.
Your thirst for revenge was just as present as it was four months ago when you joined HYDRA.
The agent was right.
You wanted to kill the Avengers and make them pay for all of your suffering.
But still, one thing made you hesitate.
You sighed.
A memory of a smiling Tanya came to your mind and you remembered that she was as innocent as you were in this whole ordeal.
She deserved to grow up surrounded by the love of her parents as she has never done anything else other than loving you like her older sister who you actually were.
Then you thought of Bucky and the last memory you shared with him.
That fateful night, he had bought you a journal, hoping that it would help you manage your feelings better if you wrote them on the paper.
Comparing him to Natasha now, you realize that he was more of a parent to you than Natasha ever was.
How are you supposed to kill him?
Your door burst open and a security agent, who is in charge of maintaining order, walked inside your room.
"The boss calls you to him." He announced in a bored voice
You nodded "Tell him I am coming."
-
You stepped in the silence of the private office, allowing your senses to highen, as your eyes darted aimlessly around the room.
"I have been waiting for you." The voice of the man who had been in charge of your training was heard "Welcome!"
"I would thank you, Sir." You put your hands behind your back "But here doesn't exist such thing as being welcomed anywhere."
The man laughed.
"I see you learned the lesson." He smiled pleased "I hope you bring good news to me."
You kept quiet for a few moments, searching for a way to put your decision into words in such a way that HYDRA wouldn't decapitate you in a matter of seconds.
"So?" The man asked again, impatient
"Sir..." You began, taking your time to form every word that came out of your mouth "I am forever grateful for the chance you offered me and the resources you put at my disposal to achieve my ambitions."
The man slightly smiled, knowing that he had won.
"The Avengers have done me so many wrongdoings that I lost count of them." You continued "And after the time I have been granted to carefully choose the course I want for the next events to take, I came with the answer."
The man in front of you leaned backward in his chair, his body visibly relaxed as he waited for your final decision.
"I will..." You took a deep breath, steeling yourself "Not kill the Avengers, Sir. I am sorry, but I can't. They're my family no matter what."
The HYDRA agent shot up from his chair as his eyes went wide with shock.
"What did you say?!" He shouted, completely taken by surprise by your decision
"I said that I will not kill the Avengers." You repeated "I meant it when I said that everything has gone too far, Sir. Yes, I did want to take revenge on them, specifically my mother, but killing them was never my intention. All I wanted was to make them feel betrayed and hurt by becoming a HYDRA agent. Nothing more, nothing less."
"You foolish, lab rat!" The man sneered and pointed his finger at you "We created you! If you're here today it is all thanks to us! Our scientists were the ones who were in charge of creating you out of almost nothing! Now you dare defy us? You have the audacity to bite the hand that fed you?"
You looked around the room, trying to avoid the man's furious gaze.
"Please understand, Sir." You tried to reason "My heart and conscience don't let me murder the persons that saved me from hell and I realized that I made a mistake to return to the hell from where I've been rescued all these years ago."
The man calmly hummed "Hmm, so that's what you call it? A mistake?"
You braced yourself for what could happen next as you watched the man wave his hand at the shadows behind his back.
"I would call it a blessing." He said "You returned where you belong. To your true family and if your feelings stop you from taking action against your kidnappers, then we will help you gather the courage you need."
You shook your head, understanding what the agent's words meant.
"No..." You breathed out fearfully
But it was already too late.
-
Tanya sat on the carpet placed in the middle of the living room, playing with her toys, as she tried to distract herself from all the yelling that was happening in her surroundings.
"I am tired of your ignorance!" Bucky shouted at his wife, after he came back from another failed search mission where he tried to find you
"I haven't done anything wrong!" Natasha yelled back, her brain blocked in a phase of denial
"You did!" Bucky shouted "You did! You drove our child away! How could you do something like this, Natasha?!"
Natasha froze in place as her shoulders fell down.
She couldn't believe what she just heard Bucky say.
She refused to believe it.
"Natasha?" The woman asked hurt "Since when I am 'Natasha' for you?"
"Ever since Y/N went missing because of your recklessness and pride." Bucky shouted "My Natalia would have never done that to her own child. So, therefore, you are not my Natalia. You are not that girl I dreamed of having a family with."
"James, please." Natasha whispered, tears forming in her eyes "I am still the same Natalia you met so long ago."
Natasha reached to grab Bucky's hand but he pulled it away.
"Don't touch me." He said in a raised tone
Natasha sighed disappointed and nodded, pulling her hands back.
"You're mad." Natasha said "I get it."
"Mad is far from how I feel right now, Natasha." Bucky lowered his tone "I feel desperate because I am unable to find the child that has been entrusted in my protection and who knows where she is right now and what happened to her. She's just a child. You are the only one who failed to see this."
"James, just give me the chance to explain myself." Natasha pleaded "I beg you."
Bucky shook his head.
"I don't know what you have done to my Natalia but you are not the girl that made me remember how it feels to be human again." The man took a few steps backward before rushing out of the room, leaving his wife behind
Natasha fell on the couch, letting out a deep sigh, as she placed her head in her hands.
Tanya, that have been silently observing the argument between her parents, stood up, her toys forgotten on the soft carpet as she walked towards her mother.
"Mama?" Tanya cautiously called her mother
"What is it, baby?" Natasha sniffed, raising her head to look at her daughter
"Why hasn't Y/N come back yet?" Tanya innocently asked, still struggling to grasp the complexity of the situation "Is she still mad at us?"
Natasha thought about how to explain to a 5-year-old what was happening.
"I think she still is, Tatiana." Natasha lifted Tanya and sat her on her lap
"And Papa is sad because he couldn't find my sister, isn't he?" The little girl questioned sadly
Natasha guiltly nodded "Yes, sweetheart. That's why Mama and Papa are fighting."
Little Tanya looked down at her lap, her tiny eyebrows furrowing, as her mind tried to put her feelings into words.
Natasha gave Tanya time to speak at her own pace, not rushing her.
After a few minutes, Tanya looked up again at Natasha with eyes filled with tears.
"But Mama..." Tanya's high-pitched voice trembled "Why did you make Y/N go away? She is my sister. You never get mad at me cause I am your baby but Y/N is your baby too and you made her feel very sad. You always made her cry and I miss playing with her. She's the best big sister in the whole world."
A stray tear fell down Natasha's left cheek.
"Can you bring Y/N back home, Mama?" Tanya sniffed "Can you not get mad at her always? If Tanya is Mama's baby, then Y/N is Mama's baby too."
"I'm not sure, baby girl." Natasha let out a shaky breath, realizing her mistake "Mama messed up big time when she scolded Y/N/N."
"I know that Mama did bad." Tanya said "But Y/N is ours and she's my sister. She needs to live here with us."
"And she will, baby." Natasha said determined "I promise she will."
Tanya snuggled closer to Natasha's chest and sighed contently.
"I love you, Tanya." Natasha quietly declared
Tanya kissed Natasha's cheek before she quickly stood up and ran upstairs to her room.
Natasha stared at the open door that Tanya just walked out through, deeply lost in thoughts.
Her talk with Tanya had helped Natasha realize one important thing.
That Y/N was her baby no matter what and that she had made the biggest mistake in her life by doing what she did to Y/N.
And yet one question remains.
Where is Y/N?
-
"Soldat!" A voice said "Your orders are to kill the Avengers, our greatest enemies, and I want the heads of the traitors known as Natasha Romanoff and Bucky Barnes."
The man looked at the masked soldier he had created with pride, knowing that now, they would be invincible.
"Do you understand the command?" He asked sternly
"I am ready to comply." An emotionless voice replied
You stood tall, the black suit and gray vest you were wearing appeared even darker in the shadows of the private office as the mask that covered more than half of your face, perfectly concealed your identity.
The man smirked and pointed with his head towards the door.
You turned around and started walking.
Your mission?
To kill the Avengers.

The second the elevator door opened to the common floor Peter ran out and jumped on the big couch, reserving a seat for him and you like he does every time for movie night.
Bucky shook his head with a smile and turned his attention to you. Today you felt smaller than usual, which neither your caregivers nor Peter mind. They love you, doesn't matter the headspace.
"You okay, baby?" he asked and you nodded, smiling behind your paci you leaned forward to kiss his cheek.
Bucky walked over to Peter to hand you in his awaiting arms, knowing the boy could get fussy when he doesn't have his cuddle partner. To be fair, Peter is very protective over you and when you're in babyspace he's constantly on alarm, making sure you're happy and safe.
Half an hour later the common area was filled with chatter and laughter, everyone talking about how they have been before it was time to decide on a movie together. While the heroes chat you were going around giving each person a cuddle and a paci kiss, it's nothing new to the others how affectionate you can be.
Right now you were on Steve's back, arms wrapped around his neck and giggling, moving your head forward to give him a paci kiss against his cheek and letting out a surprised squeal when he pretended to drop you. If only you knew that you were the only little having so much fun at this moment. Peter was pouting on the couch with his arms crossed.
He doesn't know why he feels this way but seeing you giving everyone in the room the love and attention that he and your mommy and daddy were usually getting only, has him sulking on the large couch.
Natasha being the attentive assassin she is noticed almost instantly what was going on. She stopped her conversation with Clint and made her way to sit next to Peter nudging his shoulder.
"Wanna tell me what got you all pouty?" she teased, pulling slightly at his bottom lip that was jutted out.
He smiled a little but went back to frowning at his mommy before mumbling. "Just wanna have tiny for me alone..."
"Ah, I see..." She replied, moving some of his curls from his face and leaning closer to whisper to him. "Give it some time and she will be glued to your side."
On the other side of the couch, you were sitting on your knees between Bucky and Steve, occasionally listening to their conversation and looking around until your daddy tapped your thigh to get your attention.
"I think Peter needs some snuggles from his little sister, you think you can help him out?" he asked and you nodded your head proudly, a big smile forming behind your paci.
You instantly crawled your way over to Peter, shocking him first but he smiled the second you leaned forward to give him a paci kiss, and not just one, you kissed him all over his face until you were sure he was his happy self again.
"Lub Petie," you said proving it by giving him one last paci kiss on his lips.
"I lub you too, Tiny." he smiles brightly wrapping his arms around you to pull you in for a long hug.
When you were sure he was satisfied with the attention you gave him you switched from Peter to sitting on Bucky's lap, reaching over to play with your mommy's hair and also giving her and your daddy a paci kiss while the others cooed at the whole interaction.

out of the woods
Tumblr media
pairings — avenger!james (bucky) barnes x fem!human!avenger!reader
summary — in which, their relationship is a very complicated and rocky relationship that they both have to fight for. based on the song out of the woods by taylor swift!
word count — 7.7k.
warnings — lots of angst, lots of hints at winterwidow (but its not actually happening), also a lot of miscommunication, mentions of bucky's trauma, mentions of reader's past with old relationships, use of pet-names [doll, baby, babydoll, darling, sweetheart], reader calls bucky james a lot, cuddles, dancing, screaming fights, secret relationships, a lot of the avengers not being completely supportive of their relationship and being kind of judgemental, also big mentions of bucky's past and also past relationships and big hints at him kind of being a heartthrob / player / heartbreaker and like sleeping around etc., bucky's kind of an asshole, steve and natasha and wanda are probably the closest to the reader, steve's kind of hard on bucky but it's for a good reason, steve and wanda and natasha are hella overprotective of the reader, kisses, pining, jealousy, love confessions, tension!
notes — i'm back in my bucky obsession, so let's expect more!! also, this is the fastest i've EVER written a fic omg. gif and divider creds to owner!
p.s., feedback is very much encouraged and appreciated <3

THINKING BACK ON IT, NEITHER of them could say for sure how it first started.
they just knew that finding each other was the best thing to ever happen to either of them.
"looking at it now, it all seems so simple. we were lying on your couch. i remember."
the air is quiet with a calm and comfortable silence.
"do you think anything's going to change?" [y/n] asks quietly, not daring to look up at him.
she keeps her head leaning over his shoulder, becoming incredibly comfortable, but also feeling a little nervous of what his reply will be.
it takes him a moment before he answers her, "no, and even if they do, we'll figure it out."
[y/n] sighs, trying to keep the lingering, negative worries buried, as she moves the blanket to cover the both of them.
bucky chuckles, gently moving the fuzzy blanket off of his body and over to cover her whole, shivering body. "doll, you know my body's too warm for the blanket."
[y/n] sighs dramatically, rolling her eyes. "ugh, i hate how amazing your body is."
as soon as the words leave her lips, she groans and buries her face into his chest. "oh my god."
bucky smirks down at her.
she lifts her head up and squints her eyes in clear embarrassment. "i didn't mean it like that!"
bucky gives her a pointed look.
"i didn't!" she yells defensively.
she sighs. "you know i meant like how amazing your body is in the sense of healing and how you're always warm."
bucky chuckles, shaking his head. "sweetheart, i know. i'm just kidding."
"you better be." she mumbles, moving back to lie her head back on his chest and snuggling closer to him.
"you took a polaroid of us. then discovered (then discovered) the rest of the world was black and white. but we were screaming in color. and i remember thinking."
[y/n] giggles as he kisses her cheek, just as she takes the picture.
"bucky!" she yells, turning around to shove him, after she took the polaroid out of the camera and setting it down.
"what?"
"that picture is probably all blurry now!" she whines, turning back around to grab it on the side table.
she shakes it as he wraps his arms around her waist, both of them waiting to see what the picture will look like.
she giggles again as he buries his face into her neck, the scruff on his jaw tickling her.
he lifts his head up as the picture becomes much more clearer.
"huh." she murmurs, a soft smile forming on her lips as they both notice that the picture is perfect—no blurs, or anything like that.
"see? it's fine." he whispers, but since they're so close, she can hear it clearly.
she giggles as she turns around to face him, moving her hands up to his face, giggling once more at the feel of the facial hair that's grown on his face.
"fine. maybe it is." she says with playful glare.
he smiles genuinely, placing his own hands over hers, just appreciating the moment.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
with a silent gasp, [y/n] holds her breath and stands still, hiding behind the corner of the wall.
"what's going on between the two of you?" steve's voice speaks up again, judgement in his voice.
"what are you talking about?" bucky asks, trying to act dumb.
"come on, buck," steve says, giving him a pointed look. "it's clear that something's going on."
bucky shakes his head immediately, almost feeling and sounding defensive. "there's not anything going on."
[y/n]'s heart stops as she hears those words.
she wasn't expecting him to admit it, especially considering the fact that they've been keeping everything on the down low.
but, how could he sound so disgusted at the mere thought of them together?
with no more interest in hearing any more of that conversation, [y/n] angrily pushes herself away from the wall and marches up the stairs, up to her bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
hearing her bedroom door open, [y/n] immediately turns away to hastily wipe away the tears staining her cheeks.
"doll? why are you—" bucky cuts himself off as he notices her red face and runny nose.
"are you crying?" he asks, shutting the door gently as he walks over to her.
"baby, what's wrong? talk to me." he murmurs as he sits down beside her, cupping her face gently.
[y/n] only scoffs, pulling away from him and getting up, wanting to get away from him.
"you have a lot of nerve, james!" she exclaims as she turns around, trying to ignore the sniffling sound coming from her nose.
bucky's eyebrows furrow in confusion. "sweetheart, what's going on? why are you acting like this all of a sudden?"
she scoffs again. "are you kidding me right now?"
he raises his hands up in the air, becoming frustrated.
realizing that he's probably never going to get it until she spells it out, she spits it out with disdain, "how was your talk with steve, huh? you have anything you wanna tell me?"
his eyes fill with realization.
bucky opens his mouth to say something — anything — to explain, before she can come up with too many assumptions.
she holds up her finger, trying to shut him up. "what are we even doing, james?"
he falls short at her words.
"if nothing is going on, then why are we even doing any of this?" she questions, pointing between the both of them to emphasize.
"doll, it's not like that. it's not like that at all, i swear."
he walks over to her, and for some reason, she lets him place his hands over her shoulders.
"i only said that to protect you — to protect us." he explains, sighing when she rolls her eyes at him in disbelief.
"from what, james? what could me or we need protecting from?" she exclaims, tears filling her eyes.
she can't stop the hurt feelings she feels deep in her heart from what he had said to steve.
"baby..." he trails off, hating to see her hurting from this misunderstanding.
"what? what could you possibly say that could make this better?" she exclaims again.
he sighs, shutting his eyes for a straight second. "i wanted to protect our relationship from all of the judgement and the questions!" he suddenly yells, causing her to jump in surprise.
he flinches, trying to ignore what his yelling has caused her.
"look," he says, much more softly this time. "i know this is all still very new to us. and i want to protect us and this relationship before we announce it — we need to figure out what it is before we do that."
she's quiet, tears spilling as guilt fills her for overreacting.
before she can quite apologize or defend herself, bucky can practically read her mind.
"don't worry about it. it's okay." he murmurs, wrapping his arms around her.
she sighs shakily as she whispers, "i'm sorry."
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
she can't breathe.
she can't breathe at all as she sees it.
the scene playing out in front of her — in front of everyone too — makes her sick to her stomach.
she swears she hears her own heart shatter into a million different pieces.
despite the tears blinding her vision, she doesn't hesitate as she says, "excuse me, guys. i have to go." and turns around to walk back up to her room.
how could he do this to her?
flirting with her best friend? did she mean nothing to him?
as soon as she's in her room, she slams the door shut and locks it.
and with that, she slides down the door and finally lets everything out with her hands covering her face.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good. (are we out of the woods?)"
she'd been avoiding bucky ever since she saw that exchange between him and natasha in the kitchen.
they'd all been drinking and even if [y/n] didn't know it, it wasn't anything more than two friends joking around with each other.
but, even though she was great at dodging and avoiding bucky, one morning, after a particularly exhausting training session with steve, he was able to find and catch her before she could quite run away from him.
she grimaces when he grabs her wrist to prevent her from going any farther away from him.
"[y/n]." he calls, his voice filled with anguish.
"what?" she whispers, trying to ignore the tears that have already spilled down to her cheeks.
she doesn't turn around. not yet.
"doll, what's going on? why won't you speak to me and why have you been avoiding me?" he asks, his voice barely even a whisper.
"did i do something wrong?" he asks again, this time his voice small.
but, [y/n] forces herself not to dwell on it.
instead, she whips around, ripping her hand out of his gentle grip and pointing a finger at his chest. "you have a lot of nerve, you know that, james?" she exclaims, finally having had enough.
everyone around them watches cautiously, before steve nods for them to follow him out of the room.
they do.
and bucky and [y/n] don't speak until the room is quiet and empty.
"what are you talking about?" he asks again, only becoming more and more confused.
she scoffs. "are you that clueless, bucky?" she asks, shaking her head.
how could he not even know what he did?
when he doesn't answer once again, she rolls her eyes, suddenly sick of this heartache that's quickly been happening for her — for the both of them. "i'm sick of this, james. if you wanted to be with nat, you should've just told me and ended this before one of us got hurt."
bucky only becomes more confused. "natasha? what the hell does she have to do with this?"
"oh my god," she mutters, only becoming more and more irritated.
"bucky, i saw you with her the other night, okay? along with everyone else."
his face fills with realization as she continues, "i don't know what you were doing. maybe... you were trying to get everyone off of our backs. or maybe you just couldn't find a way to let me down gently."
tears fill his eyes at the thought of her thinking that he doesn't want to be with her or that there's something going on between him and her best friend.
"baby, i'm not interested in natasha." he simply states, hoping that he can fix this before he causes any more damage.
[y/n]'s eyebrows knit together, creating a crease in between them, and bucky wants so badly to fix it.
"then... why were you flirting with her?" she asks meekly, not quite sure what she's supposed to believe anymore.
he chuckles, running his hands through his hair. "we were just laughing and talking — we were drunk, but nothing like what you're thinking of happened."
she stops short, her heart stopping. "so, nothing really happened?"
"nothing happened." he confirms and she deflates.
tears fill her eyes as she glances down at the floor in clear embarrassment and regret. "oh, god. i'm an idiot."
he laughs, walking over to her to cup her face in his hands. "no, you're not. you're just scared. just like me. right?"
she wordlessly nods, still emotional and embarrassed.
he simply nods and pulls her into his side, hugging her with her arms wrapped around his torso and his chin resting on the top of her head.
"looking at it now. last december. (last december). we were built to fall apart. then fall back together. (back together)."
the screaming match happening in the middle of the living room has gotten so bad that the rest of the team has gone out for dinner.
what is this about, you ask?
well, in a way the cat's out of the bag.
you see, most of the team, including tony and natasha, walked into the kitchen, catching bucky and [y/n] sharing a few stolen kisses.
they'd finally found out about their relationship. and most of them were just shocked.
but, a few others were pretty judgmental and critical about it, like tony.
and thus, leading them to the fight that's happening right now.
"i don't get what the hell you wanted me to do!" bucky yells, raising his hands up in the air.
"oh my god. you can't be serious right now!" she yells back, shaking her head at him in disbelief.
"i am! what the fuck were you expecting?! i was trying to protect us." he screams, becoming too heated, which only sets [y/n] off more.
"first of all, i wanted you to defend me! maybe defend our relationship when tony insulted me and our relationship! and secondly, you weren't protecting us! you were just protecting yourself — just like before!"
he rolls his eyes and scoffs. "why are you always turning this into something it's not?! i've been trying to protect our relationship since the beginning!"
"oh really? because it sure as hell doesn't seem like it!" she yells, her tears finally falling.
"you know what? i'm done!" she exclaims, taking a deep breath as she turns to one of the couches to grab her things.
"this was just a big mistake. and i can't fucking take it anymore." she mutters, but bucky hears it perfectly.
panic fills him, just as much as the guilt fills him.
"wait, sweetheart. don't go." he calls out, walking up to her as she starts to walk over to the door that leads to the exit.
"why?" she whips around to face him, her face red from the screaming and crying and her voice is croaky from said-screaming.
"why, james? all this has caused is pain," she mutters now, looking away from him. "we've had more pain and drama than we've had any good moments or happiness."
his face softens. "doll, that's not true. and you know it."
"look," he murmurs, grabbing her chin with his forefinger and turning her face, so that she's looking at him. "i'm sorry for the yelling. and for not defending you — i was just stressed. but, that's no excuse."
"please, just give us a chance. i promise it'll be worth it."
[y/n] sighs quietly, thinking for a moment.
after a few minutes, she can't help but agree. "okay. one more try."
he smiles, before pulling her into his arms and chest, hoping for something better for them.
[y/n], however, hugs him back with a stressed and worried glint in her eyes. is all of this pain really worth it?
"ooh, your necklace hanging from my neck. the night we couldn't forget. when we decided, we decided. to move the furniture so we could dance. baby, like we stood a chance. two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying. and i remember thinking."
bucky can't help the fond smile that forms on his lips as he admires the way his dog tags hang around his girl's neck.
even without makeup and wearing one of his henley's and her own comfy pajama pants with a messy bun, he still thought she looked absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful.
something was shifting between them and he knew in this exact moment.
but suddenly, he's shaken out of his daze when she suddenly pushes the furniture away from the floor, along with some of the tables.
"babydoll, what are you doing with that?" he asks with a raised eyebrow, his body growing warm at the excited smile and the giggles that leave her lips.
"we're going to dance, silly!" she says, as if it's completely obvious.
"whoa, whoa," he says as she walks over to him excitedly and he lifts his hands up in the air, to motion for her to stop her actions.
"i don't dance. and also, there's no music." he tries to reason with her, but she simply rolls her eyes at him and grabs his hands and pulls him towards her in the middle of the floor.
"yeah, right. steve's told me stories about how you'd take all of your hookups dancing! and there doesn't need to be music!"
bucky chuckles, moving closer to her.
he puts his hands on her hips and hers around his neck, him unknowingly and unconsciously already starting to dance with her.
"we both know that you're more than just a hookup. so, i guess you're worth my terrible and lack of dancing." he says teasingly, waggling his eyebrows at her.
she laughs, unclasping her hands and pulling them away from his neck to cover up her flaming, blushing face and hide it from him.
he smiles, slowly pulling them away to see her face. "darling, i want to say you're gorgeous face."
she flushes even more. "it's not! you're just saying that."
his face changes into something serious. "yeah, i am just saying that because it's true."
she groans and rolls her eyes as she places her hands back around his neck.
"fine! you win," she mumbles, but she then says quickly and defensively, "just this one time!" when he smirks in victory.
and true to his word, bucky doesn't dance very gracefully.
but, considering the stories she's heard about him in the forties — back before all of that super soldier and nazi stuff happened — she chooses to believe that he only danced clumsily and silly to make her laugh.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
she tries to ignore both the concerned and judgey looks her friends keep giving her.
she'd just told natasha and wanda the truth about her relationship with bucky.
and to say they haven't been completely supportive is a big understatement — it's not that they're bad friends and could care less, it's more about the fact that bucky's been known to break hearts and they worry that their friend will be caught in the crossfire.
"what?" she asks, her voice coming out small.
"are you sure you want to do this with him?" natasha asks, raising a single brow at her in question.
wanda nods in agreement. "yeah. are you absolutely sure that you wanna get into a relationship with him?"
[y/n] scoffs in disbelief. "are you kidding me right now?" she asks, seeing the confused looks they share as they look at each other.
"we just mean that he's not exactly known as a commitment type-of-guy." wanda says hesitantly.
natasha nods. "it's true — he's broken a lot of women's hearts."
"wow," [y/n] mutters in further disbelief. "neither of you have any right to judge. we've all done things we regret! and let's not forget all of the hearts you guys broke!" she exclaims in a whisper as she suddenly gets up from her seat at the kitchen's counter table and marches up the stairs to her bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet, good."
bucky knocks on the door gently.
he hears quiet sniffles and then a shaky voice say, "come in."
he tries to mentally prepare himself for what drama could be on the other side of the door — he doesn't mean this as an insult, it's just that so many people have been causing them and their new and blossoming relationship extremely complicated for them.
as he opens the door, his face falls at the upset and red face of his girlfriend's.
shutting the door softly, he walks over to her.
it's quiet as he crawls over to the other side of the bed and pulls her into his arms.
"why don't they support us?" she cries, her feelings being a little too hurt from the conversation that she had with her best friends.
he sighs, holding her tight, with his chin over her head.
"i don't know." he says, really not knowing either.
"it's going to be alright, okay?" he murmurs as she buries her face into his chest, crying even harder.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
"buck, i'm not sure this is a good idea." steve states from the couch, nodding towards [y/n], who's standing alone in the kitchen; she's numbly opening a water bottle as her eyes catch the scene of wanda and natasha talking and laughing on the far side of the kitchen.
bucky sighs, his gaze softening, before he turns back to face his best friend.
"what are you trying to tell me, steve?" he asks, giving him a tense — but pointed — stare.
"no offense, but you can't ignore the way you are with women," he briefly expains, continuing on when bucky stares at him silently, daring him to go on, "you can't commit to her, buck!" he whisper-yells, not wanting to catch anyone's attention with their conversation.
bucky scoffs, shaking his head at his best friend's judgement. aren't your friends supposed to not judge you?
"i'm sorry, bucky," he says, stepping up to stand with him. "i'm not trying to gang up on you — i'm just worried about both of you. and i don't want [y/n] to get caught in the middle of it, with her heart broken."
bucky scoffs again and walks away.
"buck!" steve calls, feeling bad for the way he approached this situation.
"no!" he yells, cutting any other words he could say off and catching the attention of everyone else.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good. (are we out of the woods?)"
"hey..." [y/n] murmurs softly, walking over to the open hall that leads to the living room and kitchen.
bucky sighs, that anger still bubbling inside of him.
"it's okay, james." she murmurs softly, moving to gently touch his flesh arm and rubbing it comfortingly.
bucky groans, some of that anger dimming down a little bit.
but then, he remembers the conversation between him and steve and that anger comes right back.
he clenches his jaw, staring at the wall behind her.
she notices this again.
"hey, look at me." she murmurs softly, now cupping his face.
he sighs and looks at her this time.
"what did he say?" she asks, bringing one of her hands up and into his hair, in order to calm him even more.
he doesn't answer her.
although, he asks her a different question, "do you think that i've hurt every woman i've come into contact with?"
[y/n]'s puzzled now, her eyebrows knitting together as she tilts her head in confusion.
"what do you mean?"
"do you think i'll hurt you?" he asks, his voice wavering in unexpected emotions.
"what? james, of course not. why are you asking me this?" she asks seriously, grabbing one of his hands from across his chest to hold it carefully — the metal one.
he tries to ignore the dread and worry filling him at her holding his metal hand.
"so, you're not worried?" he asks again.
"i mean, i'm scared. but that's because of my own issues. it's not because of you — i know you would never purposely hurt me." she says truthfully, moving her other hand to cup his face, smiling softly at the ticklish feeling of the growing scruff on his jaw.
"you promise?" he asks, tears filling his eyes.
"hey," she says, stepping even closer to him and this time, placing both of her hands over his cheeks. "it's okay. i promise."
"remember when you hit the brakes too soon? twenty stitches in a hospital room. when you started crying, baby, i did too. but when the sun came up, i was looking at you."
it all happened too fast.
since [y/n] and bucky have been inseparable — especially with their friends seeing that nothing could tear them apart now — tony and steve decided to pair them up in a simple mission.
all they needed to do was go to a recently revealed hydra base and get some files.
but, the plan didn't go right. in fact, it all went terribly wrong.
[y/n] was supposed to go into one of the rooms to copy their files off of one of the computers with the thumb drive she brought with them, while bucky stood and watched guard.
but, things just went horribly wrong when something drew him away from the door of the room she was in — he thought it would only be a second, just to make sure he could be on top of any sudden attacks.
but, turns out, it was quite a few hydra soldiers trying to distract him.
and before he knew it, by the time he made it back — after finally getting the upper hand on the enemy agents and knocking them out — he came back only to see the door of the room slightly ajar and everything too quiet.
panic filled him as he walked into the room, lightly pushing the door open.
his jaw dropped when he saw another agent standing over a weak [y/n] lying on the floor, who was holding her abdomen in clear pain.
shaky gasps left her lips as she kept pushing herself further and further away from the smirking man before her.
but, before he could even take a step further to cause her even more pain, bucky didn't hesitate; he stepped closer and faster and quickly drew out his gun and knocked him out on the back of the head.
a shocked and pained groan left his mouth, before his body dropped to the ground.
and with that, he had ran over to [y/n] to help her up, panicking much more as he had finally realized what happened.
now as she lies unconscious, bucky continues to let the racing thoughts consume his entire being.
he holds her hands in his own, his chair scooted to reach her bedside and his head leant over their connected hands.
a sharp intake of breath and a pained groan draws his attention away from his intrusive thoughts.
he snaps his head up, his eyes filling with tears.
"james? what's... what's going on? what happened?" she croaks out, trying to clear her throat of the dryness.
"baby... you were shot." he murmurs, his voice wavering in worry.
"but... did we get the files?" she asks, only one thing on her mind.
he laughs. "doll, you got shot and you're more concerned about the mission?"
she shrugs. "i just don't want to disappoint anyone."
"you're not." he says honestly, holding her hands tighter.
after a few moments of silence, bucky dips his head down to take a deep breath.
"i really thought i was going to lose you, back there." he mutters, tears spilling.
"james..." she says, sitting up so that she can grab his chin and lift it up gently.
"it's okay." she whispers, wiping away the tears.
"it's not." he says, crying for the first time since she woke up.
"i know." she murmurs, smiling softly at him. "but, i'm okay."
he sighs and nods.
"remember when we couldn't take the heat? i walked out, i said 'i'm setting you free'. but the monsters turned out to be just trees. when the sun came up you were looking at me."
she couldn't believe what was happening right now — she's couldn't believe what she was hearing.
how could he do this to her? now? after everything they've been through?
"are... are you serious right now?" she asks, barely even a whisper.
tears fill her eyes over him refusing to look her in the eyes.
"tell me you're not serious!" she exclaims, suddenly standing up.
he stays silent.
"no." she says to herself, in denial and refusing to believe any of this.
he finally turns to her, his face cold and unfamiliar to her. "yes, i'm serious. i can't do this anymore."
she gapes at him, the tears filling her eyes — she's absolutely speechless.
but, when he turns around and starts to walk over to her bedroom door — to walk out — she springs into action.
"no! don't walk away — don't walk away from us!" she yells, racing over to him to grab his flesh wrist and stopping him from walking any further.
although, she knows that he can easily leave and escape her shaking hand — being a strong super soldier, and all.
he scoffs, turning to face her a cold look in his eyes — she couldn't recognize the man standing in front of her.
"i am walking away. it's for the better," he mumbles, before saying his next choice of words, clearer as ever, "we. are. done."
he walks out and as he slams the door shut, [y/n] can only cry and sob with heaving breaths as she falls to the ground — she can't believe he's done this.
maybe everyone was right about them — about him — this entire time.
"you were looking at me, oh. you were looking at me. (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods yet?) (are we out of the woods?)"
she was miserable.
and so was he — he was just better at hiding it.
[y/n]'s quiet at game night.
everyone's crowded in the living room and the room is filled with loud chatter.
bucky's talking with steve animatedly, as if they never argued about [y/n] before.
seeing this, [y/n] ignores the blinding tears that are pricking at her eyes and turns away from everyone else.
she tries to make it through the rest of the night, but she can't.
she's abrupt as she gets up from the couch, from being smushed in between natasha and wanda.
she doesn't say anything in excuse from her actions.
instead, she starts walking down the hall to her bedroom, the tears finally falling freely.
"i remember. (are we in the clear yet?) (are we in the clear yet?) oh, i remember."
it's quiet for a moment as everyone watches the empty hall — the one that [y/n] had just walked through.
then, natasha stands up and walks over to bucky with a look of pure anger on her face.
loud gasps and yells sound in the room as the black widow slaps him hard on the face.
bucky is shocked, but also not.
steve stands up to hold natasha back. "alright, nat. calm down."
she scoffs. "why should i? he's the one that broke her heart!" she yells, still very much angry and protective over her best friend.
everyone else watches with shocked faces, except for wanda, natasha, steve, and bucky.
wanda watches in silent anger — she feels just as angry and protective, she's just more calm and quiet about it.
natasha is still just as angry as she glares at bucky.
steve is both bewildered, but not shocked at all.
and bucky? well, he's just filled with so much guilt.
"look, i know you guys will never understand," he starts, his eyes cast on the ground. "but, i did to protect her."
wanda scoffs. "to protect her? by hurting her? what the hell is wrong with you, barnes?!" she exclaims, jumping up from her seat and having just about enough of this, to just stay quiet.
he sighs. "you don't get it." he mutters, already giving up.
besides, why should he try to convince them that it's not what they think, if they're already assuming the worst of him?
"then explain it, man!" steve suddenly says, shocking everyone in the room — steve's always been in bucky's corner.
but, what can he say? [y/n]'s always been his soft spot — she's like a sister to him and he'd do just about anything to protect her, even if it's from his best friend.
"i'm trying to protect her from me!" he yells suddenly, millions of different wild emotions crossing his face.
"buck, what do you mean?" steve asks, slowly walking over to him, upon seeing the exhausted and pained look on his face.
"i'm bad for her, alright? you guys were right," he says tightly, motioning to natasha and wanda. "i am a piece of shit when it comes to committing to women. and ever since steve and i talked, i couldn't get it out of my head — i knew deep down that i was only going to hurt her and i couldn't do it anymore."
"but, don't you care about her? don't you remember those good moments with her?" steve asks quietly and gently.
"it doesn't matter. the best thing i can do for her is walk away." he says, rolling his eyes at all of their reactions.
"why are you guys fucking shocked like this? you all have been unsupportive from the very beginning!" he yells, throwing his hands up in the air.
before anyone else can say anything to convince him otherwise, he pushes past them and walks to his own bedroom.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
weeks have gone past, but for [y/n], it felt like so much longer.
things have only gotten worse for her — the heartache of bucky walking out on her and their relationship has really taken a toll on her.
even as the red-headed ex-assassin talks to her, it all goes over her head.
natasha's voice feels muffled and far away as she feels completely haunted by the memories of bucky.
a shake to her shoulder brings her out of her daze. "[y/n]!"
"huh? what?" she asks, her voice blank.
natasha gives her a pointed look. "i'm serious. you need to talk to bucky."
she scoffs at hearing these words. "why? he's made it perfectly clear that he doesn't give a shit about me." she mutters, pushing back the tears.
the red head shakes her head. "i'm serious. i think he might be just as miserable as you are." she says, trying to persuade her best friend.
[y/n] glares at her. "why do you even care? you've been against us from the very beginning!"
natasha simply shrugs. "well, now i'm not."
[y/n] rolls her eyes. "how is that even possible?"
"because i've seen the change." she briefly explains.
[y/n] refuses to let those words change anything for her. even if her heart flutters at the thought of him changing himself or his mind.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
another party. great. another event i have to pretend like i'm not completely miserable.
[y/n] couldn't help the bitter thought in her head.
but, it seemed that things were only going to get worse.
one minute, she was talking excitedly with wanda and natasha.
and the next? she's feeling her entire body freeze up with her heart stopping as she watches something happen that she should've been expecting to happen soon enough.
how could she expect him to not move on so fast, when it was so easy for him to leave their relationship?
[y/n] gulps, trying to blink away the tears as she watches some mysterious, gorgeous woman leaning into bucky's personal space with a big smile on her face.
as if sensing her eyes on them, both of them turn to look over at her; the mystery woman with confusion and curiosity, and bucky with guilt and something else she can't decipher.
she shakes her head, walking away — away from the man that shattered her heart and her two, confused best friends.
"are we in the clear yet? (yeah). are we in the clear yet? (yeah). are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
she wishes she could actually kill herself just about right now.
how did she have the bad luck, to run into him in the kitchen? let alone with just them by themselves?
she's been able to avoid him whenever they've been surrounded by their friends, but this is the first time since their big breakup fight that they're really alone with each other.
"sweetheart—" he starts to say, but she cuts him off, holding a hand up.
—"don't worry about it. we broke up — it was messy — but i don't want to talk about it, okay? i just want to move on."
although her words come out as a lie, bucky believes it and it just about kills him.
he swallows his pride and every urge that he has that makes him want to come crawling back to her and get her back. "i just wanted to, uh, apologize for everything — i want to move on as well."
half of her was expecting that he was going to prove what natasha had said about him, but let's just say, she's extremely let down.
she fakes a smile, nodding. "right."
"yeah, exactly."
they both lie through their teeth.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
everyone watches the two as they talk quietly.
but, despite the fact that they are on talking terms, everyone can see that it's not the same.
"this is weird." sam whispers to steve, watching them with an amused look on his face.
steve sighs, frowning. "yeah. it is."
natasha turns to face them, blocking their view of bucky and [y/n]. "i thought he was going to get her back!" she whispers as she glares at them.
steve sighs, sharing a look with sam.
"well, he was," steve says, before sam finishes for him, "but then, she was talking about moving on and it really just ruined everything."
"man, she has no idea how whipped he is for her." sam mutters, steve nodding along in agreement.
wanda chimes in, frowning, "this is so painful to watch."
she nods to them, all of them quickly taking notice of how when one of them looks away from the other, they give the other a longing, sad look.
with that, wanda groans quietly, before getting up and walking away.
despite the both of them acting all content, both bucky and [y/n] are hurting deeply on the inside.
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
things had shifted recently — between [y/n] and bucky.
everyone could see it. just... not them.
things were still tense and they both were still hurting, but it was sort of bearable now.
"how do they not know? seriously!" kate murmurs, watching the pair giggling and discussing a book they have in common in disbelief.
peter — just as appalled — nods and points to kate, whole heartedly agreeing.
tony raises his eyebrows in shock. "i have no idea."
the rest of the group continues to watch confusedly as the pair become even more cute, if that's even possible.
a lot of them, like tony, yelena, clint, and some other watch in disgust, while some others watch in fondness.
"are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods yet? are we out of the woods?"
bucky watches intensely, jaw clenching and his baby blue eyes turning cold.
he shouldn't have expected them to get back to their old selves, especially after what he put her through.
but, watching pietro and [y/n] practically flirting right before his eyes, it completely shatters his heart.
he thought walking out on her to protect her was the worst thing he ever had to do.
but no. seeing her with someone else — right in front of him — that's so much worse.
"for christ's sake! barnes, go over there and get your girl!" tony complains, rolling his eyes.
bucky doesn't move his eyes off of the woman in the room.
he hears her laugh at pietro, and it kills him.
"i can't. she doesn't want me back." the words are hard to say, but he says them.
"that's a load of bullshit, barnes," natasha says, rolling her eyes when he turns to her in disbelief. "anyone with eyes here can see that she's completely in love with you."
bucky sighs, turning back to look at her again. "no. she's not."
"are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? are we in the clear yet? in the clear yet, good."
things were intense between bucky and [y/n], to say the least.
especially, after natasha marched over to her and pietro and pulled her to the side, and spilled how heartbroken and longing bucky was over her.
it must've been hours after that.
she left pietro to hang out with the rest of her friends, while she spent most of her time in her dark and quiet bedroom.
no matter what she tried to do — to distract herself — she just couldn't stop thinking about him.
knowing that he thought that she was moving on — that he thought that she didn't want him back anymore — it kept her up, all night.
even when everyone was asleep, she couldn't sleep.
so, instead, she walks out of her bedroom and down to the kitchen.
taking in a deep, shaky breath, she walks over to kitchen sink, trying her best to find a cup and the knob for the sink in the darkness.
although, before she can get her water, the kitchen light flicks on, flooding the room with brightness.
she whips around, only to find herself face-to-face with bucky.
"why are you up so early, doll?" he asks, trying to ignore how her eyes linger on his bare chest.
she looks away. "couldn't sleep."
when she looks back at him, and notices that longing gaze in his pretty blue eyes, she blurts it out, "i'm still in love with you."
he stops breathing for a split second. "what?" he utters in a mere whisper.
she takes in a deep breath, hoping to god that this is the right decision. "i... i can't keep this in any longer, james," she says as she puts her cup down on the counter and walks a little closer to him.
"i've been hiding this for so long. even in the beginning of our relationship, i knew that things had changed between us — and for the better. i knew exactly what i felt for you and it killed me when you walked out on me." she tries to say, her voice breaking as she recalls their messy breakup.
"sweetheart, i'm so sorry about that. i didn't mean—" he starts to apologize, but she cuts him off with a gentle voice, —"james, it's okay. i forgive you."
"how can you? i hurt you — exactly in the way that i hoped i wouldn't, like everyone was telling all of us." he interrupts her once more, the guilt absolutely consuming him.
she laughs, taking another step closer to him.
"because... i love you. i think i have from the moment we met." she says, tears in her eyes and giving him a happy smile.
"you saved me, bucky. i never thought i would find love again, but you showed me that i can."
he gulps nervously as she finally gets as close to him as she can.
"james, i'm so in love with you i can't breathe without you. and i can't be with anyone — not pietro, no one — unless it's you." she says, laughing with happiness as she cups his face in her hands.
his face fills with an insane amount of relief and shock. "are you serious? you're not messing with me?"
she shakes her head, now wrapping her hands around his neck, while his find their way to her hips.
"it's true, james. i love you — only you." she says with so much love in her voice, leaning her forehead over his.
he laughs, feeling both relief and the biggest amount of happiness and love he's ever felt before.
"i love you too, doll," he murmurs, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around her body to pull her closer to him. "i could never stop loving you."
she smiles. "you promise?"
he nods, before his eyes glance down at her lips, hers following quickly after him.
they're both fighting the urge to take things too fast, so fast.
but, with her missing him so badly, she lets herself lose control.
"bucky?" she whispers breathlessly.
"yeah?" he asks, his voice raspy.
"would you kiss me already?" she asks, laughing when he nods with no hesitation.
without another second wasted, he connects their lips and pours everything into that kiss — her doing the same.
maybe even after all that drama and heartache, they made it — they found their way back to each other.
bucky pulls away — far too soon. "i am never leaving you again." he promises, holding her head in his hands.
she scoffs. "you better not."
"never again." he swears, pulling her back in, to appreciate that he has her back in his life and in his arms.
she giggles in excitement as he pulls away and wraps his arms around her waist, lifting her up into the air and spinning them around.
her arms wrap around his neck as her legs lift up into the air as he continues to spin them around.
"god, i love you." bucky murmurs, moving his head to kiss the side of her head when he sets her back down.
"i love you too, james buchanan barnes." she says with brutal honesty.

Good Boy, Stevie // Steve Rogers x Reader (P1)
Pairing: Steve Rogers x POC Reader, a tiny bit WinterWidow and ScarletVision Word Count: 3.7k+ Warning: Language, fluff, Slooow burn, Sub!Steve, Dominant Reader   Summary: Steve discovers he really enjoys you on top and in control. Pietro and Sam find out a little more about Bucky Barnes than they ever wanted to know. Wanda is a surprising supporter of *ahem* kinky things.
A/N: You really thought I was going to leave you hanging on ‘Oh Captain!’ like that? I’m not that sadistic. Okay…maybe I am but this story practically begged me to write it. Who am I to refuse?
Tumblr media
Previously on Oh Captain: Good Boy, Stevie // Part 2
It’s been three weeks.
It’s been three weeks since you absolutely rocked the hell out of Steve’s world. Every moment alone he had he spent reliving the feeling of your grip on his jaw and your thighs around his waist. Every night he exhausted himself to the memory of you whispering ‘cum for me, Stevie’ in his ear. Every morning he had a raging hard on he spent way too way too many damn hours in the gym or on the track trying to work off. Passing you in the halls between mission briefings and operation updates and seeing that sly smirk on your lips wasn’t helping matters at all. He felt like he was losing his mind. He might actually be losing his mind. He didn’t know what to do anymore.
Steve had never been power hungry; he knew being Captain America was a great responsibility and he accepted it. He loved taking care of his country, fighting so that kid he used to be, that kid he still sees in the mirror, never had to deal with bullies again. He loved fighting to protect a nation of outspoken runts with a strong moral compass had a chance to change the world. But sometimes…sometimes he wished someone would take care of him. Then he met you.
Since that night, he’d been trying to get up the courage to talk to you. He wasn’t exactly sure how to approach you. Your collective responsibilities as Avengers and Agents of SHIELD kept the promise of a second date and the promise of ‘next time’ hanging in the air. What happens now? What if it wasn’t good for you? What if you changed your mind? What if you met someone else? His anxiety had been particularly brutal to deal with lately.
“You don’t understand, Buck. I can’t stop thinking about her. I can’t stop dreaming about her. Stark was in the middle of showing me a new weapons defense system for the Compound and all I could think about was how good she felt around me. I’m pretty sure I accidentally called Nat by her name during training once,” Steve confessed. Bucky couldn’t help but snort at his best pal’s dilemma. They were currently in the gym (when are they not, honestly?) working off some steam from Bucky’s latest mission. Steve seemed so wound up over Y/N. Women of SHIELD had a particular way of wrapping a man around their pinkie fingers. Bucky understood that more than words could express.
“Oh-ho, Nat noticed. She’s never going to let you live that down, punk,” he laughed.
“Jerk,” he shot back, “What am I going to do?”
“Do about what?” came the voice of a very grumpy Sam Wilson. He leaned against doorway with a furrowed brow. He was exhausted; how he was still standing and functioning after the insanity of this last month was unknown to even the gods. He looked like hell. And considering he’d just finished running 10 miles at the orders of Captain America, he felt like hell too. Goddamn super soldiers.
“Steve’s all twisted up over Y/N. He hasn’t quite figured out how to talk to her after she fucked him silly,” Bucky replied, “You look like shit, man.”
“Yeah well, not all of us are lucky enough to have super soldier serum to keep us going after a 3 week long grueling mission in goddamn Siberia,” he snapped. Bucky chuckled wryly.
“Do you always use such fowl language at 7 in the morning, Sam?” Steve asked, laughing at his terrible pun. Sam shot him a dirty look.
“Give him a break, Wilson. [Y/N] is the first time he’s been laid in months since Sharon broke up with him. He doesn’t know how to cope with anything other than exercise.”
“Just because the Capsicle here was in hibernation for-fucking-ever doesn’t mean everyone else is as well rested. I need my sleep man!” Sam Wilson might have been a well-trained soldier but he was a man who took his sleep seriously.
“Language!” Steve chastised.
“Bite me, Rogers,” Sam hissed. Bucky just snickered at the both of them.
“Give him a break, punk. He did just come back from a 3 week long mission in the frozen tundra of Siberia. Let the poor man have a nap.”
Steve sighed. Maybe he had been working everyone a bit too hard. [Y/N] had him twisted in a bad way. Bucky was right: this was his issue. It wasn’t fair to make everyone else suffer just because he can’t get up the courage to speak.
“Alright, Sam. Go get some rest, you earned it.” Sam visibly slumped forward at the prospect of passing out in his bed. Mock saluting the two super soldiers, he all but raced to his quarters. Bucky’s amused snorts echoed through the gym. Steve couldn’t help but crack a wry smile.
“Do you want my advice?” Bucky asked.
“No. I’ve just been standing here venting about her for no apparent reason. Of course I want your advice.” Steve replied sarcastically. Bucky just chuckled at his best friend; dramatic was always Steve’s forte.
“Just talk to her. Isn’t that what you told me about Natasha? ‘Just tell her how you feel’?” Steve just looked at Bucky incredulously. Surely it couldn’t be that simple?
“Yeah, punk. It really is that simple.”
“After all these years, I still don’t know how you manage to read my mind like that.”
“I know you.”
“Alright, fine. I’ll talk to her. But if this goes sideways, I’m blaming you,” he said. Bucky held his hands up in mock surrender as he backed away from his friend. Laughing softly, Steve watched him grin like a Cheshire cat and slink out of the gym.
If Steve was slowly going nuts over memories of the two of you, you weren’t faring much better.
You dreams were littered with depraved thoughts of Steven Grant Rogers on his knees before you. Your sadomasochistic brain kept conjuring images of him bound to your bed, ass up with cherry red cheeks. The sting in your palms was imagined so often, you could virtually feel it. You could still hear him whimpering underneath you. Your libido practically screamed at you to bed Steve again. Fuck.
Clint and Natasha caught you zoning out of meetings so much they started taking bets on how soon you’d get caught. (There were currently six hundred dollars in the pot.) Getting your hands on Steve again wasn’t just a want; he was your poison and antidote.  Luckily for you, the universe was on your side. You couldn’t have known it then, but soon you’d be able to have Steve in every which way you so desired.
Today started out normally: morning workout, breakfast with whichever Avengers and agents were off mission, briefings, mission planning and debriefings, status updates and training then lunch. Following lunch, you oversaw new recruit training and finally you were done for the day. After cool down yoga and a hot shower, you liked to relax buy cleaning your guns and sharpening your knives at sunset. It was more than just making sure your weapons were always field ready; you’d discovered that tranquility of was found in repetition of routine. Cleaning and prepping your weapons gave you time to de-stress while keeping your hands busy.
You’d just finished loading the clip into your last gun and flicking on the safety when a tentative knock came at the door. The screen on the wall revealed a mildly nervous Steve bouncing on the balls of his feet. How cute. After giving FRIDAY the go ahead, your door slid open.
“Y/N!” he started, “I wasn’t sure you’d be in.”
“I’ve got a few of weeks of downtime and prep before SHIELD sends me on a two month mission with MI6 in London. You coming in or not, Rogers?” you asked. He grinned at you sheepishly and stepped into your room. FRIDAY closed the door behind him. You could feel his anxiety spike the moment the door shut. For just a moment, you could see the man underneath the serum clearly. Barely ninety pounds, adorable and shy around women; you ached to have him writhing beneath you.
Steve felt like he was nineteen years old again. His body might have changed but a part of him would always be that spry runt of a man who could appreciate a powerful woman. Something about the way you looked at him made him feel small in a way that he loved. Something about you made him feel like he could just be an unencumbered Steve and you’d take care of him. He wanted that. He wanted you.
“What do you need, Rogers?” you asked suggestively. You knew what he sought from you, you just planned to make him work for it. The double entendre wasn’t lost on him at all. His cheeks were tinged with pink; he refused to look you in the eye.
“I was wondering…if maybe…we could—I was wondering if maybe we could talk?” he asked. He could feel a brief surge of confidence; Bucky was right, telling you how he felt was the best course of action. He hoped. Double checking the safety on your gun, you put it back in your weapons cache. The pregnant pause blanketed the air around you as you made yourself comfortable near the foot of your bed. You gestured at the space next to you; Steve took his seat obediently.
“What’s up, Stevie?”  At the sound of that otherwise simple nickname, his cock twitched. One of these days he’d start remembering going commando with you around was a terrible idea. He could feel his ears burning furiously.
“I want…you,” he whispered. He could sense you grinning like a cat that finally captured its prey; your smirk radiated satisfaction.
“Not everyone is lucky enough to have serum enhanced hearing, Stevie. Care to speak up?” It must have been something about the way you teased him…you suddenly found yourself inches away from mildly defiant baby blue eyes. His soft full lips were mere millimeters from yours; the sound of heavy breathing was the only thing heard.
“I want you.” The timbre of his voice sent shivers down your spine. As much as you wanted to mount him right there, you had to be sure this is what he really wanted. Snaking your arm up to his short hair, you curled your fingers and tugged his head back. He offered no resistance as you exposed his throat. The urge to sink your teeth into his skin and mark your territory was almost blinding. You could hear him breathing harshly; a quick glance to his lap revealed a ready and eager hard on. Was he…going commando? Fuck.
“And what is what you want…Stevie?” you purred. He closed his eyes briefly and groaned inwardly. You’d hardly touched him and he felt ready to explode. Opening his eyes, he met your gaze. He reached for your other hand and guided it to his throat, squeezing ever so softly. He groaned again. You bit your lip in effort to silence yourself. His large hand dwarfed yours around his throat, yet you’d never felt so in control.
“I want you…in control. I want this.”  There was no hesitation in his voice. In fact, it was the most confident he’s sounded since he set foot into your room. Here he was: Steven Grant Rogers, Captain fucking America, gifting his willing and eager submission to you. You swallowed hard; goosebumps covered your skin. When you seduced him all those weeks ago, you never could have imagined this. You never could have even dreamed to imagine this.
Squeezing the sides of his neck softly, you watched his eyes fluttered closed. “Are you sure, Steve?”
“Call me ‘Stevie’, please,” he whined. That sound went straight to your core. Releasing his throat, you pulled his face closer. Flicking your tongue out, you nipped his bottom lip; the wetness in your panties was threatening to soak through. His breathing hitched at the feeling of your teeth sinking into his flesh; you were so tempted to lose yourself in his kisses. Unbeknownst to you, Steve could actually smell how turned on you were. Thank God for the super soldier serum. You let go of his hair and forced yourself away from his sinful mouth.
“Okay, Stevie. Before we do this, we have to set some ground rules. But before we can do that, I need to know how much of this you’re aware of. How much do you know about what you’re from asking me?”
He half rolled his eyes at the absurdity of your question. “I’m over ninety years old, I’m not dead. I know what I’m asking for, Y/N.” The snark laced in his tone irked you. He wanted to be cute. You gripped his jaw in your hand and leveled him with your gaze.
“Don’t sass me, Rogers,” you hissed. He gulped audibly and nodded. You freed his jaw.
“You’d be my first, but I’m not entirely new.” Cocking your head, you looked at him and considered the weight behind his words. You could work with this.
“Are you familiar with the color system?”
“Yes.”
“Recite it to me.”
“‘Green’ means I’m all good. ‘Yellow’ means slow down or I need a break. ‘Red’ means stop immediately,” he replied.
“Good. Are you comfortable with any particular titles?”
“I figured I would leave that up to you,” he murmured. His shyness was back. Why was it so endearing?
“This is as much for you as it is for me, Stevie. Do you have anything you’d prefer to call me?”
“I like ‘Miss’.” The fact that he could hardly say it without blushing sent goosebumps across your skin; he was so adorable.
“‘Miss’ it is.” You pushed him backwards onto the mattress and mounted his hips. His eyes widened at the sudden yet pleasurable pressure on his cock. Bracing yourself on your forearm, you ran a gentle thumb across his bottom lip. You could feel his heart racing in his chest, a mere echo of your own.
“You’re so pretty, Stevie,” you crooned. His cheeks stained pink under your heated gaze and soft praise.
“You think so, Miss?”
“I do. You looked so pretty underneath me last time. I wasn’t sure I’d get to see you again.” Despite your confident demeanor, a small part of you worried if you might have been too much for the good Captain. It pleased you so much to know that wasn’t the case. Steve tensed underneath you; he wasn’t sure how to explain that he’d spent the last three weeks with his cock in his hand imagining you having your oh so wicked way with him. Your watchful eyes didn’t miss a thing.
“Is something wrong?” you asked worriedly. When he didn’t immediately respond, you sat up and crossed your arms in front of you. If he changed his mind about everything now, you wanted to be prepared. Rejection was a bitch to deal with. Steve’s eyes met yours; the emotions swirling behind his gaze seemed to scream for understanding but you couldn’t grasp any of them.
“I need you to use your words, Rogers.”
“Stevie,” he corrected softly. You smiled warmly at the shy man underneath you.
“I need you to use your words, Stevie. Tell me what’s going on in that pretty head of yours.”
“You are,” he whispered. You arched your eyebrow in confusion. Sitting up and pulling you close, he took a deep breath and continued, “I couldn’t get last time out of my mind. Every free moment I had to myself I spent thinking about you…about everything…I wanted. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
“Really?” you half whispered in shock. He nodded, eyes shining brightly. “And what do you want?”
“I want to be with you. I want to give myself to you, to let you take care of me. But I want to take care of you too, not just in the bedroom. I want it all,” he admitted.
You weren’t entirely sure how to process his confession. Excitement coursed through your body; he wanted an honest to goodness relationship? You’d been single for a good while and enjoyed every moment; you’d be lying if you said the prospect of having someone to come home to every night didn’t make you happy.  What did you have to lose?
“Okay,” you said.
“Okay?” he asked, disbelieving.
“Okay,” you repeated. Steve beamed so brightly, you half wondered if he was actually radiating sunlight in your face. He was beautiful. Leaning in, Steve placed a tentative yet sweet kiss on your lips. Such a simple gesture stole your breath away. It was a kissed laced with the promise of something wonderful, loving and soul shaking. You pulled away, much to his disappointment.
“You know what this means now, don’t you, Stevie?” you said with a wolfish grin on your face. He shook his head in mild confusion. You reached up and fisted his hair in your hand; he groaned in pleasure.
“You’re mine.”
Steve wandered around the Compound with the most infectious grin on his face. Everyone was already used to a relatively sprightly Captain but this was next level. He had to thank Bucky for giving him that kick in the ass he so desperately needed. Talking to you, working out rules, kinks and establishing your relationship put him in the absolute best mood; his anxiety was long forgotten. Whistling a happy tune, he half danced around the kitchen fixing lunch. In the midst of his perky preparation, he missed Sam and Pietro strolling into the open concept kitchen.
“What’s got him so happy,” Sam whispered to Pietro. Sam was significantly less grumpy after getting so much needed sleep.
“Do you think its [Y/N]? He hasn’t stopped talking about her for weeks,” Pietro replied.
“Cap and [Y/N]? Seriously?! Man, what else did I miss while I was in Siberia? I’ll never forgive Tony for not keeping me updated,” Sam grumped. Pietro just snorted at him.
“Keeping you updated about what?” came Wanda’s lilting voice. The boys shushed her almost immediately. “What’s going on??”
With a finger to each of their mouths, Sam and Pietro pointed at Steve’s humming and dancing figure in the kitchen. Wanda turned a particular shade of scarlet. This did not go unnoticed by either of the other Avengers. Leading her to the living room space, the boys all but held her hostage on the couch.
“What do you know?” they asked simultaneously.
“You know, sometimes I wonder if you two aren’t the twins instead of me and Piet,” she said while trying to sidestep their invasive question.
“Don’t try and change the subject woman, spill the beans,” Sam ordered. Pietro’s intense stare on her face only made her blush deeper.
“Shit, it’s good isn’t it?” Pietro asked. Making a locking motion in front of her lips, Wanda just shook her head in protest.
“Oh shit! It’s really good! Now you have to tell us,” exclaimed Sam. She shook her head harder.
“What are we telling?” asked Steve as he wandered into the living room with his impressively massive sandwich. Damn super soldier serum. Everyone yelped in surprise. Steve chuckled while settling into his favorite recliner. For a bunch of well-trained spies and secret agents, they sure were terrible at not getting snuck up on.
“Oh, nothing really,” Pietro lied smoothly, “Sam here was just talking about how he wondered if Tash and Bucky were into really kinky sex.”
Steve nearly choked on his lunch in surprise. Of all the things to come out of the young Sokovian’s mouth, that one hit a little too close to home. Pietro yelped when both Wanda and Sam smacked him in the back of the head.
“Oh come on! You can’t tell me you never thought about it? She’s like freakishly flexible.” Steve just shook his head at him.
“On that note, I’m out. I do not want to think about whatever kind of freaky sex Barnes is having with one of the deadliest women I’ve ever met in my life. In fact, I don’t ever want to think about Barnes having sex. If anybody needs me, I’ll be in the lab with Bruce and Tony trying to get these mental images out of my head forever,” said Sam. The awkward tension he left in his wake was nothing short of legendary.
“You know? I think I hear Stark calling me? I think I’ll just--.” Pietro didn’t even finish his sentence before he literally ran away from any kind of continuance of the current conversation. Wanda laughed at their collective ridiculousness.
“Do I even want to know?” asked Steve, mid sandwich. Wanda sighed in resignation. He was going to find out one way or the other.
“If you must ask, they were talking about you and [Y/N],” she said softly. Recalling the events from less than an hour ago, Steve blushed furiously. Now was a really unfortunate time to remember Wanda was a telepath.
“How much do you know?” he asked without meeting her amused gaze. Wanda stood up and walked over to the recliner he was sitting in.
“Enough to tell you that I’m not judging you for any of it; we all need our escapes,” she patted him on the shoulder gently, “don’t worry, Steve. Your secret’s safe with me.” He released a heavy breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
“Thanks, Wanda.”
“She’ll take really good care of you, Steve. You couldn’t have asked a better person,” she said approvingly. He met her gaze and smiled softly. Nodding at the hungry super soldier, Wanda glided into the hallway. The images playing in both Steve and [Y/N]’s head had gotten her a bit worked up. It was time to teach Vision a few new things.
Steve relaxed into the recliner, sandwich in hand. If he’d been told three weeks ago that he would willingly and eagerly submit himself to you, he’d have laughed himself into the sunset. He shivered lightly as the words ‘you’re mine’ echoed around his brain. In more ways than one, you’d completely captivated him. He was looking forward to tomorrow night.
This was going to be so much fun.

first steps and words with winterwidow bucky being all bummed that there babygirls first word was mama and not papa and nat rubbing it in his face😭
Mama
Winterwidow x daughter!reader
Summary: Bucky and Natasha’s daughter says her first word but it’s not what her papa had hoped for.
———
In the quite afternoon at the avengers compound, a monumental moment had arrived. Baby Y/N, with her sparkling green eyes and tufts of dark red hair, had uttered her very first word. And much to Bucky's dismay, that word was "mama."
Bucky couldn't help but feel a bit bummed. He had secretly hoped that your first word would be "papa," a sweet validation of your bond with him. But fate had a different plan, and now he found himself at the mercy of Natasha's teasing.
Natasha, sitting across from Bucky with a smug grin, couldn't resist rubbing it in. "Looks like Y/N has a way with words, doesn't she?" she quipped, her voice laced with playful satisfaction.
Bucky's brows furrowed as he leaned closer to his daughter, determination etched on his face. "Come on, Y/N, say 'papa.' Can you say 'papa' for me?"
You instead regarded your father with an amused side-eye. Seemingly understanding the gravity of the situation, the power you held over your papa's hopes. And with a mischievous glimmer in your eyes, you repeated your newfound favourite word, "mama," once again.
Bucky let out a defeated sigh, slumping back in his chair. "Well, Mama, looks like you've got yourself a fan." he remarked, giving in to the reality of the situation.
Natasha, unable to contain her laughter, playfully nudged Bucky's arm. "I told you, she's got impeccable taste," she teased.
But deep down, Bucky couldn't help but marvel at the adorable sight before him. You had found your voice, even if it wasn't the word he had anticipated. Your expressive gaze and playful demeanor made it hard for him to stay upset for long.
Leaning forward, Bucky smiled at you, his heart filled with love and pride. "Alright, Y/N/N," he said with a chuckle. "Mama wins this round. But don't worry, Papa will keep trying. One of these days, you'll say it."
You, still captivated by the game you had unknowingly created, reached out your tiny hand toward Bucky. With a hint of amusement, you patted his cheek, your eyes twinkling as if to say, "Maybe, Papa."
And as Bucky reveled in the joy and laughter of the moment, he knows that it didn't matter which word Y/N said first. What truly mattered was the bond they shared, and the endless moments of discovery that awaited them as a family.

Summary: Natasha adopted you from the Red Room when you were only a baby, but when she and Bucky had their own child, she started forgetting about you.
Part 2
"I hate you!" You shouted, slamming the door behind you
"Y/N, we're not done!" Natasha, your mother, shouted from downstairs "Get back here!"
This was a daily occurrence by now.
The, once nonexistent, daily arguments between you and Natasha only got worse over the years.
Although Natasha isn't your biological mother, she raised you like her own after she saved you from the Red Room.
You were only 2 months old when she adopted you and everything went well. You both formed a happy little family for a while.
That was until Natasha started dating Bucky a little after your 10th birthday and she slowly started spending less and less time with you.
But not Bucky was the factor that determined your mother-daughter relationship with Natasha to drift apart.
The main reason behind everything was your 5-year-old baby sister, Tanya, who came into the world a few months after Natasha and Bucky started dating, with a little bit of help from Tony and his technology that, nowadays, seems to defy all odds.
Tanya's arrival only strengthened the bond between her parents, who had a romantic history that started years before even you were born, and, at the same time, weakened the bond between you and Natasha.
You knew the drill by now.
'Tanya is perfect.'
'Tanya is ours.'
'Tanya is innocent.'
Their voices echoed in your brain like a broken record.
Tanya knows that she can get away with everything and Tanya does get away with everything.
Since her birth, it was as if Natasha had completely forgotten about your existence.
It began by ignoring you while she focused her attention solely on Tanya.
She wouldn't feed you anymore, wake you up for school, or cuddle you at night.
She didn't even notice that you changed.
But, how could she, when Tanya was everything she noticed?
You stared at yourself in the mirror.
Determination was etched on your pale face as you picked up the blade that was on your sink.
It became a relief for you.
Sliding that blade on your wrist helped you forget about the unbearable pain in your chest.
The crimson blood that was pooling from the cuts held your attention. The pain of being abandoned by two different mothers was momentarily shoved at the back of your mind.
You started harming yourself 2 years ago when you couldn't take Natasha's ignorance any more.
You haven't told anyone and it's not like they would care if they knew anyways. Tanya was the center of their world, not you.
She was the perfect baby, while you were the adopted bastard and a grand mistake that Natasha made.
Natasha never admitted it out loud but you understood the message from the way she was treating you.
The blade fell down from your hand into the sink.
'Is it all because she never gave birth to me?'
And you stared at the trail of blood it left on the white sink.
'Are adopted kids not important, just because they're not blood related?'
You slowly understood.
'Will I ever be treated the same as Tanya?'
The only one left to understand was Natasha.
"Y/N, do you want to play with my dolls later?" Tanya asked you a few hours later, during dinner
You pulled at the sleeves of your hoodie even more, hiding your hands inside of them.
"Sure, Tatu." You gave the small child a shy smile "I think I'd like that."
"Tatiana." Natasha sternly looked at Tanya but the tone of her voice was soft "Remember we have a movie night tonight. You can play with Y/N another time."
"Can Y/N come too?" Tanya's big, innocent eyes sparkled while she asked, as Natasha refilled the girl's glass of orange juice
"I think she has more important things to do." Natasha replied, not even bothering to ask what you want "We're going to have a mother-daughter night. It's going to be just us two, sweetheart. Wouldn't it be fun?"
"Yay!" Tanya cheered, throwing her arms in the air
But as she did, she accidentally knocked over the glass filled with juice.
"Oh oh..." Tanya said, looking at the spilled juice "Sorry, Mama."
"Don't worry, baby girl." Natasha smiled, sitting up to clean the mess "Accidents happen."
"That's not what you said the last time when I accidentally knocked over my glass of water." You bitterly spat out at Natasha
"You have no right to talk, Y/N." Natasha snapped at you "Shut up!"
"Natalia, honey, calm down." Bucky, who was sitting beside Natasha, put his hand on her arm "She didn't do anything wrong. She's just a kid."
"She's not a kid, James." Natasha shouted, turning her head in Bucky's direction "She's a grown-up teenager now."
"Talia, I think you are just overreacting right now." Bucky kept trying to calm his wife, sparing a glance in your direction
He looked down at your plate that was untouched, the effect of your lack of appetite obvious on your skinny and fragile frame.
"I think I'm full." You quickly sat up from the table
"Sit back down, right in this instance, Y/N." Natasha shouted at you "You don't disrespect your mother like that and get away with it."
"Well, lately, you didn't act like a mother at all." You shouted back at Natasha, pain evident in your voice, but Natasha was oblivious to it "All you care about is Tanya."
"Because she's my child!" Natasha screamed offended "It's only normal to care for her."
"I used to be your child as well!" You shouted, tears forming in your eyes "I still am your child."
"You're not mine!" Natasha shouted and you widened your eyes shocked "You're not anything to me! You aren't my child because you don't have my blood. I didn't carry you or feel you grow day by day inside of me. But with Tanya, I did. You are just a mistake, Y/N!"
"You are the mistake here, Mom!" You cried, slightly lifting your sleeves as Bucky's eyebrows shot in his hairline "Look!" You showed your scarred wrists to the woman "This is all because of you! Why can't you love me like any mother should do? Blood shouldn't be important! You raised me, Natasha."
Bucky reached his metal arm slowly towards your extended arms to inspect your wrists but he was pushed aside by Natasha, who blocked out the fact that you were hurting because of her and ignored the truth, her intrusive thoughts winning as she said something she would never be able to take back.
"You were never truly a part of this family, Y/N!" Natasha shouted "Get that in your head. You are not our blood and you will never be. I saved you because I thought that you would change but I see that you didn't. You are the same. But I did change. I am not the same Natasha that I was in the Red Room. I am better."
Shaking your head, you took a few steps backward.
"I can't believe you." You whispered in disbelief
"Y/N..." Bucky breathed out, sitting up from his chair "Don't listen to your mother, she's just tired. She didn't mean what she said."
"She knew damn well what she was saying." You kept shaking your head, a lone tear falling down your cheek
"Then get that in your head once and for all." Natasha shouted once more, stubbornly fixated on her wrong belief that she was right
"I hate you!" You shouted at Natasha "I wish you never rescued me from the Red Room!"
And with that, you stormed out of the house and ran into the veil of darkness provided by the night.
Bucky tried to run after you but it was too late.
He found no sight of you or any clue where you might have run away to.
Bucky walked inside the house and looked at Natasha who was still oblivious to the damage she had done and muttered one question.
"What have you done?!"

winterwidows daughter being her mamas little shadow like she watches her train and attempts to copy all the poses
Little Shadow
Winterwidow x daughter!reader
Summary: Natasha has a little copy of herself, doing everything she does.
———
At the age of two, you had become Natasha's little shadow, following her every move with a boundless sense of curiosity and adoration. Whether Natasha was training in the Avengers' gym or simply going about her daily routine, you were always right there, eager to imitate and share in your mother's activities.
In the gym, as Natasha practiced her skilled combat maneuvers, you were beside her, trying your best to mimic each pose. With determination and a smile on your little face, you threw your tiny fists and kicked your little legs, your tiny frame mirroring Natasha's gestures.
"Look at you, my little spy," Natasha would say, her heart swelling with pride. She would gently encourage her daughter, offering her praise for every attempt, no matter how small. Your eyes would light up with joy, reveling in your mother’s attention and approval.
As the training session came to an end, Natasha made her way to the water cooler to quench her thirst. To her amusement, you followed closely behind, your purple little drink bottle clutched in your hands.
"Mama drink," you declared, looking up at her with bright eyes.
Natasha chuckled, realizing that her little girl wanted to be just like her. She took a few sips out of her water bottle, and you copied, feeling a sense of accomplishment at being able to do what Mama did.
With their thirst quenched, Natasha decided to head to the kitchen to grab a quick snack. As she made herself a peanut butter sandwich, she looked down to find you gazing up at her with pleading eyes.
"Mama me too!" you requested, your voice sweet and determined.
Natasha smiled affectionately, touched by her daughter's desire to share in her moments. She prepared a small, toddler-friendly peanut butter sandwich and handed it to you.
"Here you go, my love. Enjoy your peanut butter sandwich, just like Mama," she said, patting your head gently.
You giggled and took a bite, your little face lighting up with delight. you felt a special connection to your mother, knowing that you guys were both enjoying the same treat together.
Throughout the day, Natasha and Y/N continued their activities side by side. Whether it was practicing ballet, reading books, or simply exploring the world around them, Y/N always sought to be part of her mother's world.
In the tender moments they shared, Natasha marveled at the bond they had formed. She knew that you saw her as a role model, someone to look up to and learn from. It warmed her heart to know that her actions and behaviors were shaping her daughter's early experiences.
In your eyes, Natasha was not only a formidable Avenger but also your beloved Mama, your hero, and your greatest source of love and inspiration. And as you two continued to walk hand in hand, Natasha realized that in the eyes of her little shadow, she was simply perfect.

Secret compartment
Winterwidow x daughter!reader
Summary: The Avengers noticed their things goings missing and a little toddler might be the cause.
———
As days went by, the mysterious disappearances of items around the Avengers Tower continued to puzzle the team. Small objects would go missing, and not seen again. It became somewhat of a mystery to everyone.
———
One day, as Natasha set her phone down on the coffee table, she got distracted and didn't notice when her 16 month old daughter Y/N waddled over and stealthily snatched it up. The little girl had become quite the curious explorer, and the allure of secret hiding spots had captured her imagination.
With Natasha's phone in your hands, you made your way to your nursery, where you had discovered a small compartment hidden behind a loose baseboard awhile back. The secret spot was your own little treasure trove, and you had been diligently stashing away objects you found around the tower.
Meanwhile, Natasha noticed her phone was gone and she began to search around the coffee table but it was nowhere to be found.
"Hey, Bucky, can you call my phone?" Natasha asked as she still searched around.
Bucky obliged, dialing her number as they followed the ringing sound. The sound led them to your nursery, where they found you crouched down, carefully placing the phone in your secret compartment.
"Ah, I caught you, Y/N," Natasha exclaimed, trying to suppress her laughter.
you looked up with wide, innocent eyes, your cheeks flushing slightly. You hadn't expected to be discovered in your covert operation.
"Busted!" Bucky chimed in with a grin, kneeling down next to you.
Natasha picked up her phone and gave you a gentle hug. "It's okay, sweetheart. You can't hide things from Mama for too long," she said affectionately.
Your pout turned into a small smile, and you clung to your mother. "Mine," you murmured, trying to defend your secret hiding spot.
Natasha chuckled, understanding her little one's desire to have a special place of her own. "I know, my love. It's your special place, but we should keep Mama's things in their rightful places," she explained gently.
From that day on, Natasha and Bucky kept a watchful eye on their curious little girl and her secret compartment. They made sure to keep things like their phones out of her reach, but they also allowed her to have some fun with her little hiding spot.

I'll be back
Winterwidow x daughter!reader
Summary: You miss Bucky when he leaves for a mission.
A/N: Sorry I haven't been posting! I've been really busy and had not motivation to write! Request is at the bottom <3
———
Bucky had found himself on another long gruelling mission. Another day he had to leave his wife Natasha and their baby daughter Y/N.
———
Bucky pressed a soft tender kiss to Natasha’s lips and a soft kiss to Y/N’s forehead. He always did this before he left for a mission. He always promised his return.
“I’ll be back before you know it,” Bucky said with a sweet smile playing on his lips. His hands were rubbing the soft hair of his baby daughter.
Bucky walked into the quinjet with Steve and Sam. He was already missing his two girls. He watched as the quinjet door shut and the figures of his wife and daughter disappeared out of sight.
Natasha sighed and adjusted the baby in her arms, kissing the top of your soft forehead. She turned around and walked back into the compound.
———
Days turned into nights and nights turned into days, you were getting more restless. You were uninterested in your toys, taking a nap or even eating your favourite food. It was clear that the absence of your dad was taking its toll.
“C’mon sweetheart you have to eat something!” Natasha said with a sigh and pleading eyes. She watched you push away your bowl of food and shake your head.
“No!” You said, a pout plastered onto your lips with an evident frown. “Daddy!” She heard a little huff escape your lips. You couldn’t fully comprehend why your daddy was away or where he went, all you knew was that you wanted him here.
“Daddy’s not here sweetheart. He’ll be back soon I promise!” Nat said with a sweet smile. She had been exhausted for days straight, the sleepless nights of staying up with you since you weren’t sleeping were catching up to her.
As soon as Natasha said that, the door to the elevator dinged signalling it opened. At first, Nat thought it was just one of the other Avengers coming into the kitchen but when she looked up she saw the all-familiar face of none other than her husband, Bucky.
“Daddy! Daddy!” you giggled and pointed to Bucky as he approached the two of you. His strong arms wrapped around you as he lifted you out of your high chair, planting a soft kiss on your forehead again as he did.
Soon a sense of relief and peace had settled back into the compound. Y/N returned to her normal routines, she was sleeping well, eating well and playing well, just like before. Bucky was back home safe and sound, with his family.

My idea is winterwidow's daughter meeting Clint's children‼️‼️‼️or maybe staying with uncle Clint while mom and dad going on a mission‼️‼️‼️
Uncle Clint
WinterWidow x Daughter!reader
Summary: Your Mama and Daddy had to go on a mission but Uncle Clint is there to take care of you.
———
Natasha and Bucky were getting ready to leave for their mission, their gear on and their stuff packed. They were standing at the front door of the Barton homestead, their little 2-year-old daughter Y/N clinging onto Natasha's leg.
Your little lip wobbled as you looked up at Natasha, your big blue eyes filled with tears. “No Mama no! Don’t go!” You couldn’t understand why your parents had to leave you. Of course, you loved your uncle Clint and his family it’s just that you did miss your mama and daddy when they went away on missions.
Natasha looked down at you and frowned. “I know sweetheart but Mama and Daddy have to go. We’ll be back soon, I promise.”
———
About 10 minutes of screaming and crying later, you eventually let go of Natasha and said goodbye to her and Bucky. Clint picked you up and put you on his hip, hoping that Lila would cheer you up.
Clint looked down at you and rubbed your back. “Would you like to go play dollies with Lila? would that make you feel better?”
You nodded your head and Clint put you down onto your two feet. You hesitated for a second but made your climb up the stairs and towards Lila’s room.
You stood at the door of Lila’s room, your little hands grasping your jumper while you shifted from foot to foot in nervousness.
“Lila, I play dollies with you?” Your little voice asked from the doorway.
Lila looked up from her spot on her floor, dolls in hand. She nodded her head eagerly “Of course! You can be this dollie!” Lila held up a blonde-haired doll with green eyes and a red dress. Your face lit up with a smile
“Okay!” You grinned and sat down next to Lila, gently taking the doll from her hands
———
Dinner time was a breeze, you sat next to Cooper and Lila at the table. You had steak and vegetables, the steak was cut into little pieces so it was easier for your little teeth to chew. You ate it all with no problem except for the broccoli which took you a bit longer to eat.
When you finished your bath and bedtime arrived, Clint took you into the spare room where the crib he had put back together for when you came to visit and your overnight bag was. You opened up your bag and were expecting to find your stuffed giraffe and other bedtime comforters but only saw your baby blanket and pacifier. You looked up a Clint with an upset frown.
“Where’s Gigi?” You whimpered and tipped your bag over, hoping she was buried somewhere under your clothes but she wasn’t.
Tears started forming in your eyes as your beloved friend wasn’t in sight. “Uncle Clint! Can’t find Gigi!” You cried
Clint quickly picked you up and started to search the bag. “It’s alright Y/N, we’ll find her. She’ll be here somewhere.”
You and Clint spent about 20 minutes looking for Gigi until Laura came into the room with a clean and fluffy stuffed giraffe, she smiled at you.
“Sorry sweetheart, I just washed her for you. She got all dirty when you were playing outside today, but she’s all clean now and ready for bed!”
Your blue eyes lit up with relief and excitement, you cuddled Gigi tightly to your chest. “Thanks, Aunty Laura!”
Clint tucked you into the crib, your pacifier in your mouth along with your baby blanket and of course, Gigi. You fell asleep peacefully knowing that your Mama and Daddy would be back tomorrow to come pick you up.

Disclaimer: If you cry, it's not my fault!
"Y/N!" Morgan, your cousin, cheered as you stepped out of the car.
"Morgan!" You shouted as you ran to her to give her a hug.
Morgan, the daughter of Tony and Pepper, was 7 years old and, although she was 2 years younger than you, she was your best friend.
Today, you asked your papa, Bucky, if he could take you to Morgan's house for a playdate, and he agreed.
Anything for his little doll.
Bucky's purpose in life was to make you the happiest little girl in the world.
Or at least he tried to, but ever since your mom sacrificed herself 2 years ago to bring him back, you haven't been as happy as you used to be.
"Hey, Morgan." Bucky smiled at Morgan. "Where's your mom?" He questioned.
"Mommy just came back from work and she's taking a nap." Morgan explained. "She left Uncle Happy to watch me."
"And he left you alone?" The man asked, concerned.
"No," Morgan shook her head. "He is just making a sandwich for me in the kitchen."
Bucky let out a relieved breath. "That's good."
"Come on now, Morgan." You encouraged, taking your cousin's hand as you pulled her inside the house. "I came here to play."
You and Morgan have been playing quietly for about an hour now, both of you engrossed in different activities.
Morgan was building a block out of some Lego pieces while you were making a puzzle.
Bucky was watching you from the couch, his eyes never leaving your face as you struggled to find the last piece of your puzzle among other pieces from different puzzles that were in the box.
"I've found it!" You suddenly shouted excitedly, holding up the last missing piece of your puzzle.
"Shh, Y/N, don't be so loud." Morgan whispered-shouted at you, placing a finger over her lips. "We can't make too much noise because my mom will wake up, and she needs to rest."
"Oh..." You breathed out, allowing your shoulders to fall as you looked down at your now finished puzzle. "Okay. Then let's play at my mom's grave and maybe she will wake up."
Bucky's heart broke in that very moment, and a few tears escaped his eyes, but he was quick in wiping them away. He had to be strong for you.
"She's been asleep for too long," you added with a voice filled with sadness.
"But yours will never wake up again." Morgan exclaimed confused. "Mommy said the same thing about daddy. But they are now sleeping forever."
You sniffed away your tears and nodded. "I know."
You knew that your mama was now sleeping forever and that there was no possible way to wake her up ever again.
Not even by making too much noise.
Bucky wanted to shield his little girl from this heartache so badly.
But he couldn't.
He didn't even have the heart to tell you that your beloved mama wasn't even buried in her grave, and he doesn't know if he'll ever be able to confess it to you.
Natasha would have wanted him to move on and to keep on living happily for you, but it was too hard.
And as you looked at your father, he gave you a watery smile, trying to reassure you that you will both get through this. As a family.
Maybe...
Just maybe, if you were playing loud enough, Natasha would wake up.

Bucky, ever the playful father, found himself engaged in an energetic playtime with Y/N. With a grin spread on his face, he was swinging you up into the air, catching you securely in his arms before playfully spinning you around.
Your sweet laughter filled the room, your tiny hands reaching out for more of these thrilling adventures with your papa. You trusted him implicitly, finding delight in the exhilarating moments you guys shared together.
But Natasha, your ever vigilant mother, watched with a mixture of adoration and concern. Her eyes widened as Bucky tossed you up higher than she deemed safe, her heart skipping a beat in worry.
"Bucky, be careful!" Natasha called out, her voice laced with a touch of panic. She rushed forward, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive.
But Bucky, with years of experience and an unwavering confidence in his abilities, knew exactly what he was doing. He caught you with ease, his metal arm providing an unyielding strength and security.
"Relax, Nat," Bucky reassured her, his voice steady and confident. "I've got her. I won't let anything happen to her I swear."
Natasha bit her lip, her eyes flickering between the sheer joy on your face and the trust she had with her husband. She knew the bond you and Bucky shared and the deep love that encompassed the two interactions.
“Alright just please for my sake, don’t drop her.” A smile spreading across her face as she spoke.
As Bucky continued the playful antics, he made sure to maintain a balance between exhilaration and safety. He ensured that you still felt the thrill of being tossed up into the air, yet always catching you securely, being mindful of your delicate frame.
Natasha, slowly but surely, began to relax. She realized that as much as she wanted to shield you from any potential harm, she also needed to trust Bucky's instincts and judgment as a father.
In that moment, amidst the laughter and play, Natasha couldn't help but be grateful for the extraordinary bond that existed between Bucky and Y/N. Their shared experiences, even if they caused her to worry at times, were an essential part of their journey as a family.
