Merry Christmas, my dearest and beloved sister, @welsharcher!!!
(It’s a bit early, but I wanted to make sure that I give it to you, because as you know, Christmas is a really busy time for meeeee)
Tumblr media
FBI Special Agent Ben “Spooky” Solo has a reputation at the Bureau; he’s the nutcase no one takes seriously because he believes in aliens, and because of that, he’s been put in charge of the X-Files, the unexplainable cases no one can or knows how to solve.
And he works alone.
But when his boss, Director Holdo, assigns him a partner, doctor and skeptic, Special Agent Regina Jackson, he finds that she’s the only one who can keep up with him…
And the only one who believes in him.
Tumblr media
I love you, my dearest and beloved sister!
I really hope you like this, and Merry Christmas!!!

your wip names are all so non-descriptive, I'm so intrigued by them!! I have a love/hate relationship with apocalypse media, so I'm so curious and hesitant to ask about that one... but also x-files AU, right up my alleyyyyyy
(WIP game)
Ah, for the apocalypse one, I was struggling with the threat haha, so I think what I really want to write is a dark roadtrip fic. I haven't touched that one in a while, but looking back, it has some stuff I like.
X-Files AU, my beloved. I don't have much for this, just a paragraph of brainstorming and the very beginning of two scenes. I want to write this, though.
Snippets from both below!
Apocalypse
All he sees is grey and dull brown, day after day after day, and he starts to believe he imagined the color that filled the world during his childhood, before his mother sent him away.
You'll be safer in the North, she'd told him.
Safe from what, Jon had wanted to ask, but he didn't, couldn't, for he knew it would upset her into silence.
The days were awash in color then—his mother's chestnut hair gleaming in the sunlight, father's cheeks ruddy with laughter, the yellow fruit growing from the trees in the yard.
But when the nights came and his parents argued in hushed tones after they believed Jon was asleep, the color seemed to drain away—the blue of his bedroom walls deepening to an abyssal black, the sandy hue of his skin going wan, and the purple of his eyes fading to grey.
....
"What do I call you?" Jon asks.
She hesitates. And then, "Alayne."
Liar. Jon saw her eyes flick to the east like it held her answer, noticed the drag of her lip under her teeth after she spoke.
"What's your name?" she asks.
"Howland." Jon's own lie comes easier, the name of Mother's diminutive friend tucked into his cheek where he'd been saving it. If "Alayne" knows he lied, too, she gives no indication of the fact. Nothing good comes of a stranger knowing your name, not anymore.
....
"You knew well enough to lie about your name but not well enough to not come here in the first place." Seeing her flinch, he adds, "Don't worry, I won't ask who you really are, Alayne."
"Did you lie as well? About your name?'
"Nah. No use in hiding when you're no one of consequence," he says with a grin, but he's not sure the act convinces her this time. She nods slowly.
"Everyone is of consequence to someone," Alayne says softly.
And everyone who ever loved me is dead or lost.
X-Files AU
“The Others are real,” he huffs.
“I'm sure they are,” Sansa says, clenching her fist behind her so she won’t roll her eyes at him. The Others are all children’s stories and old legends, but this is who the Bureau has sent her to work with, a grown man who still believes in fairy tales. Top of my class at the academy and a medical doctor on top of that. Who did I piss off to wind up here?
(She knows who, but it's useless to dwell on now.)
Yet she also knows Jon Snow isn’t an idiot, despite his beliefs. Rumor has it, he went undercover with the wildlings for months, but that operation is still classified. Officially, he is one of the best criminologists in the FBI, but also one of its biggest jokes.
“We’re wasting our time looking for the killer among the Free Folk. Yeah, some of them are thieves and murderers, but it’s usually crimes of opportunity or desperation with them. This was premeditated.”
“What about Mance Rayder?” Sansa watches for some reaction in Snow, but the light wafting into the basement office illuminates only the dust in the air, while Snow stands in the shadow beyond. “Wasn’t he planning some big attack on Castle Black?”
A grunt comes from her partner. “I don’t know about that. But if he was, it would have been a full-scale attack. These are targeted.” Liar, she thinks. So that’s what you were involved with. And if Snow helped foil the attack on Castle Black, it would make sense why the Bureau puts up with his growing obsession with the supernatural.
haha, they both catch each other in a lie in these!

Hello and a very, very happy birthday to you!!! I hope it has been a joyful and restful one.
I hope this isn't too presumptuous of me, but I wrote a wee snippet of a Codywan X-Files AU, in the hopes that it might bring a little warmth to your day. There's no need at all to respond to it or to post it publicly: please feel free to do with it what you wish! Thank you so much for all the creativity and generosity and beauty you bring to the fandom. I hope your birthday brings all that good energy back to you many times over.
....
“Working on that report for Windu?” Cody asked.
The question was, of course, rhetorical, given that Kenobi was currently slumped over his desk, dozing with his forehead resting on one elbow and the handle of a mug still gripped with improbable firmness in the other hand.
Kenobi’s head sprang up the moment he heard his partner’s voice, his face settling into an expression of alertness that was only partially marred by the faint indents that his wool sweater had left stretching across one temple.
Cody emphatically did not find it adorable.
“Ah, hello, Cody,” Kenobi greeted him. “I was just finishing up.”
“You should go home,” Cody replied. “Or better yet, you should go to the hospital. I’ll drive.”
“It was very minor electrocution,” Kenobi assured him, for what was at least the fourth time since Cody had broken down the door to the warehouse and watched his partner disappear into a haze of blue light before dropping, limp, to the ground. “The EMTs looked me over at the site.”
And Cody knew that was true, but still, he couldn’t stop remembering what Kenobi had looked like when Cody had rushed over, how horribly still he’d been when Cody had first pulled his head into his lap.
Cody hadn’t experienced adrenaline like that - the cold sweat on his forehead and the bitter tang of metal at the back of his mouth - since his last deployment. Since the mission that had ended with a Purple Heart and an honorable discharge.
“I was assigned to the X-Files to watch out for you,” Cody explained.
“In point of fact, Cody,” Kenobi observed with a wry smile. “I believe you were assigned to the X-Files to watch me.”
Cody set his jaw, shifting his weight slightly as he clasped his hands behind his back.
“I’ve reinterpreted the parameters,” he said.
Kenobi paused, his smile softening.
“Indeed you have.”
He searched Cody’s face for a moment longer before looking over at his computer with a sigh.
“A compromise,” Cody proposed, sensing an opening, “I’ll drive us to Dex’s, and we can finish the report together over -” He glanced down at his watch. “- what’s either a very late dinner or a disturbingly early breakfast.”
“Did you put the hospital on the table so you could talk me down to waffle fries?” Kenobi asked, cocking one eyebrow. But he was already shutting off his monitor, and Cody felt some of the tension bleed out of his shoulders.
“Well, I'm not the one they called ‘the Negotiator’ at the academy,” Cody allowed, “but I’m a quick study.”
With the right motivation, he added to himself, reaching out to hold the collar of Kenobi’s jacket as Kenobi tried to slip into it while juggling several file folders and a half-empty mug of tea.
“Shall we?” Kenobi asked brightly, and Cody’s fingers absolutely did not feel warm in the places where they’d brushed the back of his neck.
“After you,” he replied.
OMG OMG OMGGGGGG
This is! So good! I am so delighted and just bouncing with joy! They're running the X-Files! Cody is there is watch (over) him! Does this mean Anakin was abducted as a child? Is Palpatine the Cigarette Smoking Man? I am---- TWO THINGS I LOVE ALL MIXED TOGETHER THIS IS AMAZING!

When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass it on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love! ❤
AHhh let's see, this is so hard! I think I only have 6 fics under this account anyways :D
Ghost - a Neteyam x Reader fic (From Avatar, the way of water) probably one of the best fics I ever wrote about a different world. I did a lot of research, and it's a very sad, angsty fic, so it really paid off for me :D
Probably my fic Look, it's all about OJ Haywood from the movie Nope, again very long and self indulgent but I enjoyed writing it.
Zero - Eddie Munson x Reader - it's on hiatus atm but I love Eddie to bits and I wish I had more energy to keep writing! Probably when S5 of stranger things comes out, I'll do it.
Not actually a published fic yet, but I have a Peter Parker x Gwen Stacy!Reader fic where it's an X-Files AU, and they work on solving mysterious crimes and unexplained phenomena while falling in love. Def will get around to posting this at some point :D
I'm not sure I have a fifth fave :') sorry

Faint Silver light barely made it through the sheets of rain that fell in Northwest Oregon. Nancy had never seen this much rain in her career, not in Hawkins, not in her travels all over the United States. She had been soaked to the bone, the water worming its way into her skin.
The raincoat she had stripped and hung on the back of the motel room door had been little protection. She had laid her clothes strategically on the room’s heater, letting the dry air remedy her blazer, her shirt, and her pants. A red robe clung to Nancy now, nose icy, as she typed her report to the bureau.
Agent Wheeler had always done as she was told, she was sure that hard work and diligence had gotten her this far in the agency and would continue to propel her. The report she was working on had to be detailed, it had to relay everything she and Robin Buckley had found in the Collum National Forest.
She had a sneaking suspicion that she wasn’t stuck on this case of killed teenagers because of short staffing. She was smart, too smart for her own good, perhaps. And there had been rumors about who they called Spooky Buckley.
When Nancy had been assigned to the X-File unit located in the damp basement amongst cases yet to be solved, covered up, she had expected some big hulking agent, covered in scars and dressed in black. She had knocked tentatively despite her training. She had been pleasantly shocked.
Buckley had been hunched over a case file; her nose scrunched in concentration. Messy, short hair had fallen into her gaze, a buttoned flannel rolled up to her elbows. She hardly looked spooky under her smattering of freckles, and her crystal blue eyes. But the rumors of her work ethic proceeded her.
She had an unhinged method about her, and had arranged for the body of Ray Soames. She had gotten them access to a mental institution where two victims were still alive but in no state to discuss what they had encountered.
Nancy was in the middle of relaying this, relaying the fact that there were two pink marks at the base of every victim’s spine, the mind has suffered from something much more than trauma. The fact that their watches had both malfunctioned, and the radios in town emitted a high-pitched screech.
These were all things that Nancy Wheeler couldn’t logically explain. But Buckley’s proclamation of alien abduction and life in this universe other than their own was far out of her realm of belief, and she intended to say so.
Nancy adjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose just as the power flickered out from the storm. Thunder shook the room, Nancy’s heart in her throat for just a moment of shock. “Great.”
She lit a candle, the cold beginning to creep in. Nancy made her way to the bathroom, guided by the flickering yellow color. She pulled back the shower curtain in the bathroom, the water running hot, steam filling the room.
Nancy pulled the robe from her shoulders, letting it fall to the floor. Her fingers reached her lower back, brushing the elastic band of her underwear. She was familiar with the feel of her skin, the pads of her fingers brushing over two small, raised bumps. Something that shouldn't have been there.
The fear was back, she angled herself in the mirror, trying to get a better look at it in the candlelight. She remembered hours earlier, the panic of Peggy O’Dell, marked like the others with the two pink abrasions.
Nancy found the red robe again, sinching it at the waist. She forwent shoes, and her candle, only grabbing her room key in the darkness from memory. Her mind was searching for reassurance. It led her outside, into the cold rain, the bleary night.
Without hesitation, she knocked on Agent Buckley’s door. It opened in three seconds flat; she knew because she counted the methodic drops that landed on her shoulder. Nancy tried to ignore the tender look on Robin’s face, the way her gray t-shirt hugged her in the low candlelight.
Her eyebrows lifted “Hi,”
“I want you to look at something.”
“Come on in.”
Nancy didn’t have to be told twice. She pushed her way into the warmth of Robin’s room. It smelled like mint and sandalwood. Part of her registered it as vaguely comforting. The other part was too frazzled to think of anything but markings on her skin.
She took a deep breath as Robin closed the door, undoing the band around her midsection. This was vulnerable, her hair damp and stringy from the rain. Nancy had met Agent Buckley less than 48 hours ago, had followed her lead during this investigation, and now she stood here in her bra and underwear, letting the robe drop to her feet.
Nancy took a breath and turned, down casting her eyes. Agent Buckley got the message, she moved closer, kneeling behind her. Goosebumps raised against her skin from the heat of the candle, the way Robin’s fingers pressed against the small of her back.
“What are they?” She asked, greeted by silence. “Buckley, what are they?”
Nancy caught a glimpse of a charming smile. “Mosquito bites.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I got eaten alive myself out there.”
Robin stood now, the same grin on her face. Nancy had pulled the robe back over her shoulders in a quick, familiar motion. Relief rushed through her as she fell into Robin, nose pressed into the crook of the girls neck. She felt a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
“You okay?”
“Yes.”
Nancy composed herself, taking a small step back from Agent Buckley. It was a moment of weakness. She could handle the physical things, had nearly been shot at a number of times, made it through the academy. It was the things that made your mind slip that scared her the most, made her shake uncontrollably.
“You’re shaking.”
“I need to sit down.”
Robin helped her get to the bed, let her sit down on the edge of the floral duvet. Her legs were shaking, and the agent sat close to her. Nancy realized it wasn’t the candle that smelled of mint, it was Robin. “Can I tell you a story?”
Nancy merely nodded; her mouth dry. She liked the closeness, the quiet of the room as rain swam against the windowpanes. Agent Buckley blinked a few times, steadying herself.
“I was twelve when it happened, my sister, she was eight. She just disappeared out of her bed one night. Just gone, vanished. No note, no phone calls, no evidence of anything.”
Nancy placed her hand on Robin’s knee, giving it a slight squeeze. She hadn’t expected the vulnerability, the same type she had shown as she crashed into an embrace with someone she barely knew.
“You never found her?”
Robin shook her head “Tore the family apart. No one would talk about it. There were no facts to confirm, nothing to offer any hope.”
“What did you do?”
“Eventually, I went off to school in England, I came back, got recruited by the bureau. Seems I had a natural aptitude for applying behavioral models to criminal cases.”  Robin swallowed hard, blinking away the wetness in her eyes “My success allowed me a certain freedom to pursue my own interests. And that’s when I came across the X-files.”
“It was an accident?”
She wouldn’t’ have discovered them if she hadn’t been pulled into the office two days ago. They were hidden, so far beyond the reach of an agent that no one could work out the knots to get to it. To her it seemed like cases no one could solve, ones that no one wanted to.
“At first, it looked like a garbage dump for UFO sightings, alien abductions, the kind of stuff that most people laugh at for being ridiculous. But it was fascinating, I was fascinated. At this point, I think I’ve read through every case I can get my hands on.”
Nancy could understand that, had to after the childhood that she had. There were some things in this world that couldn’t be explained. Her kid brothers’ best friend had vanished in the middle of the night and came back as something else.
The chime of a clock and flickering of lights for communication sent her into a spiral. Yet, the thought of aliens were far out of reach. The emotion in Robin’s stance, in her eyes, made her regret some of the things she had written into her report.
Robin turned her head, the pale moonlight catching the slope of her features, the beauty of her expression. “There’s classified government information I’ve been trying to access but someone has been blocking my attempts to get at it.”
“I don’t understand. Who?”
“Someone at a higher level of power. The only reason I’ve been allowed to continue my work is because I’ve got connections. Connections in congress.”
“And they’re afraid that you’d leak information? Is that it?”
“You’re part of their agenda, you know that.”
“I’m not a part of any agenda,” She said, dismayed, angered “You’ve got to trust me, Buckley. I’m here just like you, to solve this.”
Nancy struggled to swamp places with Robin, to see things from her view. She had put so much faith in science, in the agency that swooped her off the street right out of med school, much to the disappointment of her father. But it seemed as far fetched as the idea of extraterrestrials.
“I’m telling you this, Wheeler, because you need to know. Because of what you’ve seen.” Robin takes a gentle hand and guides Nancy’s eyes away from the floor and to hers, thumb brushing against her cheek. “Listen to me, Wheeler, this thing exists.”
“But how do you know…”
“The government knows about it, and I got to know what they’re protecting. Nothing else matters to me, and this is as close as I’ve ever gotten to it.”
Nancy fought the urge to lean into Robin’s touch. Her eyes flicked to the girls’ lips and then back up, holding her gaze. They were close, warm and entangled in a vulnerable moment. She wanted to embrace Robin ‘Spooky’ Buckley. The big bad of the X-files.
Robin swiped the pad of her thumb comfortingly over the redness of Nancy’s cheek. A loud chirp of the phone pulled them both apart, Nancy startling, swallowing hard and focusing on the pattern of the carpet once more. Robin stood, picking up the phone.
“Hello? What? Who is this?” There was a beat of silence before she hung up, eyes hardening as she looked at Nancy. “That was some woman… she just said that Peggy O’Dell is dead.”

[Temple of Doom Meme from @deficd’s Fox Mulder.]
“This is not my idea of a swell time!” ------------
Tumblr media
“Curiously enough, I’m not jumping with enthusiasm either.” It was an effort to keep her tone civil, and the jury was likely out on whether she succeeded. The gears of the hire-car had started grating like sandpaper every time Mulder worked the shift, and something had been rattling under the hood for the last five miles. And while they may have nursed it this far, it wasn’t likely to get them anywhere close to the speed limit. It would soon be getting dark. And finally, with all the barely hidden glee of a grandparent bringing a gift, it had started to rain.
“ ... OK.” Thera cocked an irritated eye skyward, gritting her teeth - not toward the clouds overhead but at something even less solid. “Map says there’s a town just ahead, off the next exit. I say we find somewhere for the night and worry about this shit in the morning.”

X-files Young Justice AU
Timothy Drake as Fox Mulder, everybody calls him Drake. Though there's been a nickname for him since the academy: Spooky Drake. His parents disappeared when he was young, he says alien abduction. Brucie Wayne took no time at all to adopt the young boy as he was prone to doing.
He went to Oxford university before becoming a profiler at the FBI and eventually being assigned Agent Suzanne King-Jones as a partner on the X-files.
Meanwhile, years ago there was a 'meteor' crash in Smallville, Kansas. Ma and Pa Kent smuggled a small boy from the wreakage before the government arrived and raised him to be a mild-mannered journalist. Though, he was cut and bleed on the ship brought to a government facility. A businessman by the name of Alexander Luther obtained a secret government contract to work with the DNA and begin to play around with it. He successfully created a test tube baby by mixing his DNA with the original sample. Upon learning that the infant was to be destroyed, a scientist snuck him out and raised as Conner Kent, sharing the last name of the farm the original DNA was found on.
Bartholomew (Bart) Allen was born with a genetic mutation allowing him superspeed. There were a few others in his family who shared the mutation, and they have been attempting to avoid notice for decades.
Cassandra Sandsmark was abducted by extraterrestrials and underwent genetic experiment, she emerged with superhuman abilities and has been hiding since.
Conner, Bart, and Cassandra all came together under their mutual interests in conspiracy theories. They hide their secrets from each other as they publish a magazine called The Lone Gunman.
Eventually, Drake gets on their radar from his papers on paranormal phenomena published at Oxford and they become associates. The Lone Gunman crew helps Drake occasionally through hacking on cases.
Conner hides his secret from Drake as he attempts to get closer to the man, and they eventually become a couple.

Sea Cryptic! Danny AU- Pt.3
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.4][Pt.5][Pt.6][Pt.7]
“Aquaman.” Batman swept into the room, beelining straight for the suddenly apprehensive Atlantean king.
“Batman. What can I do for you?”
“Phantom. Does he pay taxes?”
“Pardon?”
Batman makes a low noise that had Aquaman’s danger senses buzzing.
“Does Phantom have to pay taxes. Towards Atlantis.”
“No…? Why?”
“He wanted money, in exchange for… information, of a delicate sort,” Batman said, diplomatically avoiding the topic of Phantom bargaining for the identities of corpses in exchange for a measly $100 dollars per identity. Like a flea market dealer, that one was.
“You encountered Phantom again?” Aquaman perked up.
“Yes. Gotham’s bay is… polluted.” Batman paused. “With victims. Of murder.”
The entire area quieted as heads turned towards the Dark Knight.
“Yes, I am… distantly aware of Gotham’s waters.” By that, Aquaman gets green around the gills whenever he turns his awareness in that direction. There’s a reason he doesn’t enter Gotham, and the Dark Knight’s ban is only half of that reason. “Ah, but you’re correct. For what purpose would Phantom need mortal currency?”
“Hn.”
“Maybe he needs some stuff?” Flash zipped to a stop next to Batman, feet tapping as he dug into the pile of snacks cradled in his arms. “Us mortals are always coming up with new things, maybe he wants to try some games or something?”
Batman tilted his head down, seriously considering Flash’s suggestion. “It’s plausible.”
“Barry, Barry, Barry. He’s old as hell, right? He probably wants to try the new booze!”
“Hal, my man!” Flash fist bumped Green Lantern, who came up. “You’re back! What happened to John?”
“Dunno. He got called somewhere that way,” Green Lantern waved a vague hand towards the left. “Had to deal with a politician or something from that area.” He shrugged, swinging an arm over Barry’s shoulders to put him in a headlock and stealing a chip.
“Huh. Anyways, would our mortal alcohol even work on a demi-god or something?”
“We should ask!” Hal turned towards Batman. “You should ask if he wants to go for a drink, spooky!”
“He’s a child.”
“He’s been around for more than a millennia, Bats.”
“Informational gathering, right, Hal?” Flashgot out of the headlock, quickly munching on his snacks to stop Green Lantern from stealing them.
“Totally. Yup.”
“…Fine.”
“Wait, are we just gonna ignore that Gotham’s waters are full of bodies?”
“Yes.”
——
“What?” Danny asked, mind half on the bags he’s dragging out of the water and the other half on the essay he has to submit in about four hours.
“Green Lantern wanted to invite you out for a drink.”
Danny turned to the stoic Gotham knight, who had his wrist computer out to log the bodies’ info the moment Danny gave him the information. Some of them even told Danny who murdered them, so Batman could start building cases with solid leads.
Danny’s only twenty. He’s not legal yet but he doesn’t want to give any clues to who he is. How is he supposed to…
Ah!
“Can’t.” Danny shrugged. “I’m not legal. I died when I was fourteen so…” Danny trailed off, speechless at the drowned puppy face Batman was giving him. What the fuck.
“Anyways, fork over my payment.”
Batman wordlessly hands him a wad of hundreds.
“What do you need cash for?” Batman suddenly asked.
“Huh? Isn’t it obvious?” Danny tucked it in. “Material things, obviously. I need a blanket,” because holy shit, Gotham is damn cold this time of year. “Anyways, see you same time next week, litterer.”
“I don’t litter.”
“Tell that to the batarangs I found under the water,” Danny grumbled. “But I’ll stop calling you that if you get a signature from Poison Ivy. I have a friend who loves her.”
“An alive friend?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherboy?”
Danny snickered and disappeared. He’s gotta cram that essay.
——
“There’s a possibility Phantom might be homeless.”
“Batman, I mean this in the nicest way, but for the love of Atlantis, please stop giving me headaches. It’s time like these I wish I stayed a lighthouse keeper.”
