Hi again!
I have to say that I throughly enjoyed your take on Draco Malfoy and his family. There are things that I hadnāt thought of, and agreed. Others, not so much.
Firstly, if you want to publish your own version of the rewrite, go ahead! Itās a difficult task, for sure, but it can also be so much fun. Also, you said you werenāt sure of where to publish it, I recommend you do it on AO3 since itās a platform made specifically for fan fiction and they donāt get any kind of profit so it protects you as a fanfiction writer and them. Hope this helps!
Now, on to your view on Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy.
For the longest time, I believed the same thing as you did. But it wasnāt until very recently that I changed my mind a bit. I think that Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy were the products of generational traumaāthis is not to excuse their failings as parents and people, donāt misunderstandā, just like everyone else in the Sacred Twenty-Eight. They are people who grew up in an environment where they are forced to give up all control over their lives (they cannot even choose who they marry), theyāre taught so many vile things throughout their childhoodsāactually, they donāt even get to be kids. Thereās just so many things wrong with these people.
But I do agree that Lucius mightāve been emotionally and mentally abusive, and it really would explain Dracoās desperate need to make him proud. However, I donāt think that means that Lucius didnāt love his son. I simply think that Lucius was stuck in a cycle he couldnāt or didnāt know how to break. This parenting style that Lucius uses is likely the same one his parents used when raising him, which would be the same his grandparents used on his parents and so on. Itās an endless loop of children learning that you have to hate a group of people for no reason and marry your cousin to keep the family line āpureā and gain as much power as possible because only then will you be deemed respectable. And Lucius clearly wants Draco to become respectable a young man in the wixen world, to have such an easy life such as his own.
Narcissa, on the other hand, I believe to be much more gentle and nurturing towards her son. Sheās also stuck in a cycle, but sheās also seen firsthand what happens when you break it and what happens when you donāt. Narcissa had two sisters, Andromeda and Bellatrix. Andromeda disappointed her family to the point of being disownedāwhich, I should remind you, is the worst that could happen to you when youāre from a family like theirsāwhen she married a muggleborn and renounced her place as a Black. Now her family doesnāt acknowledge her existence unless itās probably to discuss how much of a disappointment she is/was. Then you have Bellatrix, who followed the steps so many had carved before her, but it probably cost her her sanity with the way she behaves. But Bellatrix is the gem of the family, and sheās doing so well, sheās so respectable; she married a cousin whoās rich and very convenient and follows the Dark Lord and became a part of his inner circle. And this is without bringing her cousins, Sirius and Regulus, into this mess. Who would you follow?
As for whether Lucius and Narcissa married out of love or not: I think it started out as the typical arranged marriage, but they slowly fell in love as their relationship continued to grow. I like to think theyāre the perfect example of a couple growing in love rather than falling. And I believe that this love and mutual respect that they share in this marriage would explain why Lucius listens to Narcissa and often does as she asks. Youāre right about Narcissa using tradition to convince her husband to allow Draco to attend Hogwarts, but Durmstrang is also a very well-respected school of magicāespecially amongst dark wixes like themselves. But Lucius knew that Narcissa wasnāt ready to have her only child live so far, and gave in.
With all of that said, I like to think that Draco knows what love should look like. He knows how to treat his lovers (regardless of gender), and he knows that communication, respect and love are the keys to a successful relationship. I would even dare to say that he was a romantic at heart, even if he didnāt show it. Draco mightāve been a bit soft, as he was a child growing and trying to make a name for himself while the world changed around him constantly. His views were sick and twisted due to the environment he grew up in, but this can all be changed over time.
Draco probably had a very complicated relationship with his parents, because they werenāt the best but I donāt think their mistakes were from lack of loveāmore from lack of acceptance. Draco is allowed to be angry and distant, heās allowed to leave his parents to rot in Azkaban for all the hardships heād had to endure because of them. But as someone who grew up in a toxic environment, itās difficult to keep that mindset when you know the love was there and that your parents were working with what they knew and thought to be right, even if their views were misguided.
Also, Iād never thought of Draco being into goth until you brought it up and honestly, Iām really digging it. So thank you for that!
Finally, I have a love-hate relationship with Drarry mostly because I love my personal headcanons on Hinny and Drastoria. Not to mention that a part of me prefers Albus and Scorpius to be together rather than Draco and Harry.
Anyways! Thank you! š
Hi, what are your thougths about Draco Malfoy? I really like your rewrite, but I always feel like Draco could be like, the catarsis of a familiar chain. The one who survived his family toxicity and became a better person. I'm just saying he had potential.
Hey Anon! I apologize for taking a bit to respond, I havenāt been on Tumblr very much. But this is an excellent question, so thank you for the opportunity to discuss it!
Draco Malfoy is a complex character. He comes from a rich family that are proud members of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, who followed the Dark Lord until they couldnāt anymore. From afar, many would think that theyāre the perfect example of evil people. However, as we look closer, all we see is fear.
We see Lucius trying to protect his son whenever Voldemort put him on the spot. We see Narcissa going behind the Lordās back to protect her child. We see Draco being forced to do a lot of things out of fear and out of wanting to keep his family safe.
I believe that Draco really was as obnoxious as we meet him as in the first book/film. But, like all children, he grew up. As the war intensified, his actions became less about getting a reaction out of Hari and more about keeping himself and those around him aliveāwhich is something that Hari fails to see at first.
I like the idea of Draco getting a redemption arc, but I donāt think it would be easy for him. I mean, sometimes I imagine him attempting to disappear into the muggle world for a few years where he learns a lot more about the world and himself. Who knows what he might have done during that time? Worked at a bakery shop? Maybe.
In my visions, though, Draco always comes back to the wixen world and becomes a Healer. He apologizes for his wrongdoings and is actively looking to make things better.
Do Hari and Draco become friends or more? Iām not sure yet, but it certainly doesnāt happen until a couple of years after the warās over.
On a somewhat different note, this is one of the things I love about the rewrite. I get to explore so many different family dynamics and how the kids respond to it. Some people change for the better, others for the worst, and others donāt change at all. Itās interesting to see how I slowly watch them unfold and bloom.

So itās been a whileā¦
I know itās been months since I last seriously posted anything on here, especially about the rewrite Iād been so focused on. Truthfully, I hit a massive dry spell almost as soon as I started college. So much has changed, you wouldnāt believe it.
Anyway, now that itās summer, Iād like to get back into writing but I need to get the inspiration flowing. So I thought maybe I can have a list of characters that are/will be important in the rewrite and you guys can request a small scene/blurb (if thatās what you call it?) with them. You could request a specific situation but no guarantees made.
For example, you can say: āCan you do something with A and B?ā or āCan you write a bit about C and D in the empty common room?ā and Iāll come up with something from there. I feel like itād allow you guys to learn about these characters as theyāll be in the rewrite. So, win-win.
Hereās the list:
Remus Lupin
Sirius Black
James Potter
Peter Pettigrew
Lily Evans
Severus Snape
Maura Grant (white, OC)
Saida Burki (muslim, OC)
Zaneerah Beshara (muslim, OC)
Dorcas Meadowes
Marlene McKinnon
Mary Macdonald
Alice Fortescue
Pandora Malfoy
Regulus Black
The Black Family
The Lupin Family
The Pettigrew Family
The Potter Family
*Not everything I write as a response to your asks will appear in the actual story, itās just a bit of fun for now.
*You can also choose which POV itās written from.
Thank you! Hope everyone is doing well!

Why do people use āthe anon switchāTM as an excuse to be assholes? Its intended purpose is obviously so you can fangirl over your fav writersā updates at a level that would be embarrassing if they actually knew who you were

Thinking about women with penises. Women with pussies. Men with penises. Men with pussies. People who are some configuration of being with penises, people who are some configuration of being with pussies. People who are a beautiful mixture of two extremes in any manner. Just the wonderful ways that human beings can exist.
God I love gender

Hello! I hope you donāt mind me sending a request/idea via ask! :) For your re-write of the main series, I would love to see Sirius, Remus, and Harry get the happiness they deserve. They were done such an injustice in Roachās series, because they had a lot of potential that was just wasted. Iād love to see Sirius get his name cleared at some point in your re-write series, and then he and Remus able to take custody of Harry. Then they become the mentors and parental figures he always wanted and needed to help him on his journey.
I would never mind anyone leaving asks or making suggestions! If anything, I love them!
Anyway, Remus and Sirius will get a much better ending regardless of whether they become Hariās guardians or not. Although the story might indeed favor them as parents, since itās what most of you seem to want.
You can read the first two chapters of the story now if you want, it might take me a minute to get to the third and the rest of the story due to college being a lot more hectic than iād originally thought it would be. Iām still trying to find a good balance between school, socializing, and writing.
Thank you, Anon, for the wonderful request!

Hey, same anon about trans!fleur.
Maybe a trans!cedric ?
I mean, his father would be so proud of his SON and how HE's so amazing in school/quidditch ?
Give us supportive parents of queer kids, please!
Thanks for your hardwork and amazings ideas!
I actually never thought so Trans!Cedric and I am honestly going to say that I love it so much. Cedric having loving and supportive parents? Yes please!
Cedric wouldnāt be the only queer kid who has supportive parents, since one of the main themes in my series would be discovering and coming to terms with oneās identity so Iām excited.
And thank YOU for the awesome idea! And to everyone else whoās also joined me in my journey, I love yāall!!

You think you could add Fleur as a trans woman? Saw some fanart about her and Bill by @upthehillart years ago and it was beautiful!
Here the link if you didn't saw it: https://upthehillart.tumblr.com/post/619185927484522496/part-veela-trans-woman-fleur-and-her-completely
Or here
Sorry I took a hot minute to get to this, but I just started college this semester and Iām a little overwhelmed. Thank the spirits for spring break.
Anyway, having Fleur as a trans woman is something Iāve been debating for quite some time since I kinda had the idea of her being something else. So far, in the Golden Era, weāre going to have two other trans characters.
Actually, now that I think about it, I donāt have any trans men characters. Any ideas on that one?
Also thank you for the idea! I promise Iām still considering it, I just need to work out how itāll work for my story.
PS!! The artwork is insanely pretty, @upthehillart. Iāve been following them for years now and they never cease to amaze me.

Iām coming back very briefly after being gone for a while to say that the marauders wouldāve absolutely loved the Twilight series. It would be a whole thing.
Remus would try to focus on how toxic the whole thing is, but no oneās gonna listen to him because theyāll be busy fighting anyone who says theyāre team Edward because āwerewolves are clearly superior and if you donāt think so, youāre stupid and tastelessā.
Like nobody really cares about the series itself, but theyāll be damned if they let a person be a team Edward in peace.

Can you explain why many people think Harry Potter is desi? Not hating just curious! That's so lovely!!
Tbh because thereās no good reason not to.
All the blood status in the hp universe is a metaphor for racism but you know whatās boring? Metaphors for racism that only involve white people. Harry is often described as ādarkā and like if James Potterās family was desi and Lily Evansās was white, that would enhance Harryās feelings of otherness while growing up with the Dursleys because lbr Vernon was probs a flaming racist.
āPotterā could easily be an anglicized version of a south Asian last name like Potdar or Potluri, and you could make an argument for a pure blood family like the Potters engaging in and profiting from cultural exchange through the British colonization of India so there was an opportunity to establish generational wealth there.
Also on the night he died, James was making pretty-colored lights for Harry. That was October 31st. In 1981, Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, started on October 27th. It lasts five days.

do you ever think about how you have such double standards for fic writers vs book authors and tv/movie writers?
like you donāt like when fic writers do xyz, but when you read it in a young adult novel you have no problem, or you see it on the screen and you love it.
thatās just so funny to me. the hypocrisy is so funny to me.
youāll bitch about an age gap fic (even though both characters are concenting adults) but you adore call me by your name which has a 17 year old fucking a 24 year old (and iām not bashing cmbyn i love that movie iām just using it as an example).
youāll bitch about adult fic authors writing minors having sex with each other but youāll watch gossip girl where teenagers are fucking like crazy on screen.
you do realize that all of that was written by adults, right? most of the media you consume is created by adults. and when we write about teenagers fucking itās not because we want to fuck teenagers. thatās gross. weāre writing about experiences, and weāre writing coming-of-age stories because weāve already fucking been through that shit and we have life experiences that you donāt. if we didnāt the content you would have would fucking suck. it would suck.
most of your favorite fic writers are adults. your favorite novels and tv shows and movies were all written by adults. and if you enjoy that media anywhere except for when itās in fics why is that? is it because fan fiction authors are more accessible to you? is it because you can find us on discord and tumblr and tell us all about your favorite and least favorite parts of what weāve written? and you canāt do that with the authors of your favorite novels and the writers of your favorite tv shows and movies?
i just think your hypocrisy is bullshit, and maybe you should think more about what the fuck you say to people who write things for free. no one is forcing you to read anything. if you donāt like it donāt fucking read it and leave the people who do write it alone.
