Think about this guys:

Will Byers and Mike Wheeler. Growing up gay in the 80s, both gay, affected by the Upside Down and Vecna, ect.

Will is very close with Jonathan, who listens to a lot of alternative music, such as The Clash and The Cure. He acts differently and is seen as a loner, but Will still loves him. He is his big brother. They've been through the thick and the thin together. Jonathan introduces his music taste to Will when they are in some of their darkest times, and Will keeps that with him, even in the Upside Down.

Mike doesn't get along with his dad very well, or more like his dad doesn't get along with his friends. Ted thinks that they're Satanists and demonic, especially Eddie, who Mike has been getting closer to recently. Mike likes Eddie, a lot. He likes the music he listens to, the way his hair is long, the chain hanging from his belt loops; he likes it all, but not in that way, but more in an envious way. He wishes he could play that type of music around his family, maybe even impress Will with a song on the guitar, but he knows he can't. Not yet. He hasn't mastered Eddie's guitar yet, but he's been practicing ever since the older man let him.
