Word Count: 647

Pairing: Bruce Banner x Tony Stark x F!Reader

Summary: Even with three of you, parenting isn’t easy - this bedtime, no one is staying in their own beds.

A/N: I was rereading my fic Pit Stop, and quite liked the little family dynamic I’d made, so I though I’d revisit them. These are just slice of life things, so you absolutely do not have to have read one to read the other.

Bedtime

Your eyelids were feeling heavy and you resisted the urge to let them close as you watched your baby girl beside you. You'd let her fall asleep feeding again. All the baby books said it was a terrible habit to form but it was the only way you could seem to get her to do it.

She was asleep now - a thin dribble of milk on her chin. You wanted to move her to her crib but you were too tired and quite frankly, worried she’d wake up again. It would be okay though. Your bed was comically large and right now the two of you looked tiny lying in the middle of it.

The bedroom door opened and closed and you lifted your head to see Tony come in and start undressing. “Look at you two,” he chuckled. “Are there two more tired girls on the planet? I don't think so.”

You grumbled something unintelligible and let your head fall back down.

“Eddie has had a bath, his story, and is now sleeping soundly,” Tony said as he changed into pajama pants. “You want me to take her to the crib?”

You shook your head. “No. I don’t want to have to go through that again if she wakes up.”

Tony climbed into bed on the other side of the infant and pushed his foot between your ankles. “Co-sleeping it is. Did you give your mommy a hard time, little one?”

“I’m such a terrible mother,” you say. “She just loses it so bad and I don’t know what to do.”

Tony shook his head and rubbed your arm. “You’re a great mom. The best mom. You’ve found a thing that works and look at her, deep asleep with chubby cheeks and a full tummy. You’re just tired.”

The door opened again and Bruce entered, leaving it open a crack as he switched off the light and began to change into pajamas. “Why are our girls so bad at sleeping?” He asked.

“Did Jen give you grief?” Tony asked.

“You saw her - just doing everything she can to avoid getting into bed. Always in the most polite way possible too,” Bruce said as he climbed into bed behind you and draped his arm over your waist. “‘Daddy, can I please have a glass of water. Oh, daddy, I have to put my toys away. And then I can’t say no or I look like some kind of monster. And not the big green smashing things kind.”

You laughed softly and lifted your head again. Bruce sid his arm around your shoulder and pulled you close. “She’s finally out now. I think.”

“There we go,” Tony said. “Three kids down between three adults. Can’t complain about those odds.”

“I hope they stay asleep,” you mumbled.

Bruce chuckled and kissed your cheek. “Just sleep, honey. Get it while you can.”

You closed your eyes and passed out almost immediately. Sarah woke less than three hours later to feed. Tony changed her diaper and put her back in your arms and you dozed as she fed and then fell asleep eating again. An hour after that Edwin came into the room and muscled his way between you and Bruce before passing out. Another two hours and Ada woke for her second nightly feed, this time Bruce went and changed her while Edwin whined for her to be quiet. Finally, two hours after you got the infant back off to sleep, Jennifer came in and climbed into bed next to Tony.

By the time Ada woke you all as the sun was coming up, you were only marginally less exhausted than when you lay down in the first place. In this oversized bed, your family was all together. It wasn’t always easy, but it worked and you loved them all - and in the end that was the most important part.

Peterliz: I just love how they are their own personalities and still can like each other in the adorable way they do? Liz is exactly like Laura described her, a girl not motivated by the boy but willing to fall for him. I think it’s neat and fresh (Laura said Liz isn't your typical surface-level Mary Jane. You know, the damsel in distress (war flashbacks to Kirsten Dunst’s MJ). She’s actually super smart, she’s a valedictorian, she does the academic decathlon, she’s on every committee. She’s the most driven, Type A person in school, but she’s also kind) and Peter can identify with this as well, given that the boy can potentially be the smartest person in the room if he wants to. Peter thinks highly of her (She’s the best. She’s awesome. I just... I really want to tell her, but it’s kind of weird, you know? “Hey, I’m... I’m Spider-Man”) and cares about her achievements (Wow, you really... This is really important to you) and Liz knows him (you don’t need to study. You’re, like, the smartest guy I’ve ever met) and knows something’s going on with him but respects that (’I want to be mad, but I’m more worried’ ‘You’re terrible at keeping secrets’) And I think some people misinterpret Liz’s actions with Peter because they desperately want her to be the mean popular girl and that’s not it. Reading the novel, I think some people would get the insight behind Liz’s actions. She likes Peter a LOT but he’s always blowing people off because of his alter-ego Spider-Man. There’s a part where Liz mentions how Peter is always busy and she always gets disappointed about it. This hurts them both because Liz wishes Peter could give himself a rest and stop carrying the world on his shoulders and Peter wishes he could be normal and be with her. It’s the angst, this is what drives me lmao

Fosterson: They’re going to be forever in my heart. The most unproblematic ship ever. It’s adorable how much they push each other to be better. Thor pushes Jane to do things she’s never done before and she pushes him to consider things he’s never done before. It’s a balance. I love that about ships, when they help each other grow.

AntWasp: The most supportive loving partners ever. I LOVE THEM.

Taser Tricks: Yeah, I know. They’ve never met but I ship them lmao. I think that if they finally interact in Love & Thunder, we’ll see if they match or not. Darcy’s bubbly personality could potentially contrast with Loki’s aloof one. It’s an interesting dynamic. This ship’s been around for years, I can’t believe we’re finally going to see them interact and with Waititi’s writing. Chef kiss.

Interwebs: I’m sorry but how come almost no one ships these two? ‘As long as you’re safe’ OMG like, how? They would be the softest boyfriends ever. Peter cares so so so much about Ned. Like, after May and Tony, comes Ned for Peter. Ned is his pillar and the person who grounds Peter. His biggest supporter. THEY'RE NEAT.

PalmerStrange: He changed and she walked away exactly because of this. Because Strange needed to be his own person first, and then he can go after her. She’s successful in her own harmony, is not scared to call him on his bs, she can see right through him. He listens to her, he respects her, and sees a partner on equal grounds. They’re fresh out of the oven.

Ironstrange: Man, I’m sorry. It’s the chemistry for me lmao. They’re not my biggest OTP but I’m definitely up for them.

Carolmaria: Wives raising their adorable daughter♥ ‘Higher, further, faster, baby’ ‘you were the most powerful person I knew’

NOTP’s:

ScarletVision: I just don’t like them lol I respect the shippers but I don’t like the ship. I think Wanda needed more time to figure out her powers, her own identity. And Vision too. They both needed time and got caught up in everything else.

Staron: This one doesn’t need an explanation. In this house we love and respect Sharon Carter.

Brucenat: I’m sorry but lmao. I don’t think they have chemistry, and again, nothing against the shippers, but I kinda don’t like it when they give Natasha a different love interest in every movie. It’s like they tease a ship with a different avenger only because she’s the only woman in the group. I don’t dig it.

Parkner: Nothing against them but I see them as Tony’s kids and it’s kinda weird for me to ship them if they’re like siblings and stuff. Apart from the fact that I can only picture Harley as a little kid, I don’t know why. Maybe because I see a lot of Tony in Peter, I feel like their dynamic would be like Tony & Harley in IM3. Harley asking thousands of questions while Peter ignores them just like Ned’s questions about spiders in HOCO lmao. They could be like brothers.

Spideychelle: Nothing against their shippers but I just don’t like them. I feel like this was rushed for fanservice, and I don’t see any chemistry between them. I think they would’ve been amazing bffs tho. Also, the fact that many only ship them because of tomdaya makes me uncomfortable. Don’t ship real-life people.

Look, I can respect the ships in the comics where Peter is an adult, it’s an alternate universe, that’s a different Peter Parker; a complete opposite but MCU Peter is a minor and I’m watching yall. You people ship Peter with everything that moves.

Anything with MCU!Steve on it.

BROTP’s:

Maria & Nick: Partners in crime? Biggest brotp ever. She’s always going to cover his back. He’s always going to protect her from everything. She’s the one person he trusts the most in the world, you can see that.

Fanwork Like it’s 2012: Inspiration Post Part 1 of 2

Let's rewind to 2012...

What sorts of tropes do you remember fondly - or which 2012-era tags have you come across recently that you love?

Steve the blushing virgin; PTSD; Steve adapts to the 21st century (Tony helps); Tony Stark has a heart; accidental baby acquisition; Tony talks to his electronics, to Steve's bafflement; team building exercises; everyone is mean to Tony; touch starvation; Steve has problems operating simple tech like microwaves and the internet; arc reactor chronic pain; idiots in love…

There's also the supporting cast! Back in 2012, we were all about "Sciencebros", "Coulson lives" and "Natasha know all" since the Avengers had just been released, but don't forget the many variations that the team rosters have had in comics since they first got together in 1963, not to mention the countless villains ("Loki is a cat" is a definite 2012 classic)!

The Avengers (2012) introduced Tony Stark to Steve Rogers in the MCU, and fans to the stare-down that set the MCU SteveTony shipping world afire

Whether Steve and Tony's bonding starts with the famous shawarma end-scene

Or when Steve goes on his road trip after The Avengers...

… whether that ends up being with Tony coming to his rescue when it goes bad, or when he comes back with his head in a better space...

Surely, it all ends with the team living happily in Avengers Tower, having regular movie nights and fighting over the cleaning roster!

The Avengers may have created a huge surge in Stevetony shippers, but there's such a wide variety of canons to choose from which were already running before 2012!

I always imagine that in Finding Pack, Steve and Tony have an argument because of Steve trusting someone when he shouldn’t (a mind controlled Sharon maybe), then Hydra&Hammer attack the Avengers Mansion, somehow all the Avengers except Tony and Bruce get captured, Steve thinking Tony is dead and not resisting during their capture because of all the guilt&sadness. Then OMEGA ScienceBros rescue all of them, Tony in his IronMan armor, reunites w/ Steve, unaware that he’s pregnant to baby Peter. :)

I really enjoyed the image of ScienceBros coming in and rescuing the others and Steve believing Tony is dead and just giving in without a fight, all strength gone at the idea he’ll never see his mate again.

This does not happen in FP, keep that in mind. This is simply a spin-off.

A little long, too, so it’s going to be two parts!

Finding Strength

(stony, a/b/o dynamics, omega!Tony/alpha!Steve, Finding Pack spin-off)

Part 1

Tony didn’t trust her. Something in him just screamed not to trust her.

Every instinct, every nerve, was ordering him to keep her away. To get her out of his home, his nest, and far away from his pack.

He didn’t understand why. Nothing she had said or done gave them any reason not to trust her words. She was a victim. A young omega who had been attacked on a road close by and came running to the nearest place seeking aid. Their home happened to be the only structure to offer both shelter and protection, and the Avengers never turned down anyone needing help.

It was her request after that raised Tony’s hackles slightly. Upon realizing who they were, she wanted them to return to the attack site and look for survivors. Nothing too out of the ordinary for someone needing help, but she didn’t want to leave her shelter and she didn’t wish to remain alone, meaning she wanted some of the Avengers to remain with her while the others searched for survivors.

Tony hadn’t been fond of the idea. Having his pack separated while one half searched through an area where an attack had just recently happened? It didn’t sit right by him. He wanted his pack together. For some reason now more than ever. The very idea of splitting made him howl in worry on the inside.

He had spoken his concerns to Steve, but his mate… brushed them off.

“By now, whoever attacked her pack are long gone. We aren’t looking for a fight, we’re looking for any survivors needing help. If we find any of the attackers we’ll be ready, but we can’t just ignore her fears, Sweetheart. She doesn’t want to be alone and we’re not about to force her back there.”

Steve was right, Tony knew that, but something felt wrong about the situation. “She wants almost half of us to stay here. Two or three should be enough, but she’s asking for seven of us to protect her.”

Steve tilted his head. “This is a traumatizing time for her. Her pack could be all dead. She has no one right now. She’s looking for comfort in numbers.”

“But this isn’t her pack. We’re complete strangers to her. She shouldn’t be this comfortable with any of us after experiencing this. She should be cautious, pushing us away. She almost crushed Jan with a hug when she got close. Jan is a beta. A traumatized omega wouldn’t seek comfort from her, let alone seven of us.”

Steve took a deep breath. “She’s a traumatized omega. Why aren’t you taking over this? As an omega who’s gone through so much, you should understand her.”

Tony reeled back, taking steps to gain distance. He was shocked at what his mate had said. Steve had never before referenced his own experiences like this. To use his own past to imply he wasn’t taking this omega’s pain seriously, of not caring what this strange omega was going through.

“I don’t trust her.”

His mate shook his head, turning away for a moment. Something in Tony broke at the sight. Another person in his life he had disappointed.

“You’re an Avenger and as an Avenger you don’t get to decide who gets help or how they receive it. If someone comes to you crying and injured and needing comfort, you give it. With or without trusting her.”

Tony couldn’t reply. He couldn’t continue digging himself down in Steve’s eyes. The shine in his blues was gone and this, he realized, was the first time his alpha had ever looked at him without love and fondness and joy.

“Right,” was all he dared to say. He searched for the shine in Steve’s eyes, hoping it would return, but eventually looked away when it was clear it would not. Without a word he left their room, letting his mate finish putting on his armor to join the others.

Tony was to remain behind with some of the others, to guard and keep watch over the omega victim. Those elected by Steve to join him in recovering any survivors were currently suiting up, in case a fight was to ensue.

Tony needed a moment before he saw any of them. Steve’s darkened eyes haunted him. It seared something in him. Made him want to curl up and hide from the world. He needed to get himself together before he faced them again.

He ran. Out the door at the side of the mansion that allowed him to access his forge easily, he sneaked out and jogged to the forest. He needed fresh air and time alone with only the smell of grass and trees to comfort him. Under a tall and sturdy tree he sat and allowed the wind to caress his face. A small consolation to what awaited him now.

Before he knew it, he had lost track of time. The sun had snuck by and in a moment of panic, he ran back to his home before the others sent a search party for him. Steve’s set had long since left to retrieve survivors no doubt. His chance to wish them safety long past. Just another reason for Steve to be upset with him.

He stopped short of leaving his tree when the Hulk appeared before his path. The giant was on all fours and sniffing, the trail leading right to him. Hulk perked up when he spotted him and trotted over.

“Hey, big guy. Were you looking for me?”

Hulk stood tall on his hind legs, nodding. “Hulk worried.”

Tony sighed. “Sorry. I must have lost track of time. How long was I gone?”

“While.”

“The others left already?”

“Long ago.”

A weight pressed in his shoulders, affecting his chest and stomach. “They’re angry at me now, aren’t they?”

Hulk tilted his head. “Not mad. Never mad at Puny Runt. Worried. Puny Runt carries tinier Puny Runts. Should not be alone now.”

Tony frowned. “What?”

Suddenly, the very ground under them shook. The unexpected jolt nearly caused him to stumble down but Hulk was quick to place a claw on him for balance. Another shake made the branches of the trees tremble and another had both Tony and the Hulk snapping towards the direction of their home. Tony wasn’t even able to take a step to run before Hulk scooped him up and ran to the mansion in speeds Tony wouldn’t be able to with two legs.

“Gods,” his heart nearly stopped. The mansion, their home, it was on fire. Chunks of the structure were gone. His forge was covered in debris and Loki’s tower had collapsed in itself. “The others!”

Hulk growled as he placed him down. With one massive claw, he pointed to the ground. “Stay,” he ordered before dashing towards the flames.

“Like hell,” Tony hissed, following after him.

The closer he got the more the damage became clear. The structure wasn’t collapsing because of the flames. It was evident the damage and the flames themselves were caused by a massive force. By explosions.

How was that possible? Hank and Loki were careful to avoid such incidents and no enemies could get close enough to even reach their home with mixes.

The Hulk rounded the corner of the burning building. His face was contorted in rage and he was bearing his teeth in pure anger. In his fangs, Tony could easily see stains of red. He could also see the very path Hulk was running.

Tony was in that very path. Hulk was running right at him.

“Hulk? Big Guy?” Tony shrieked when the Hulk leaped. In reflex, he lifted his arms and closed his eyes. He didn’t know the reason why the Hulk was attacking him, but there was no way he was able to stop the giant if he tried.

Hulk went right over him. Tony snapped his eyes opened again when he heard a very high pitched scream from right behind him.

“Get off me you beast. Get off!”

He turned to find Hulk pinning down a tiny figure. A tiny, omega, female. The very female they had been helping earlier, but now instead of a traumatized omega shaking in fear, she was thrashing against the Hulk in anger. No hesitation in place.

Hulk had his fangs on her neck, ready to snap them shut and shorten her life.

“Wait, stop!” Tony held his hands out in reflex, hurrying closer. That last thing he wanted to see was Hulk kill a victim in front of him. “Don’t kill her.”

Hulk growled in annoyance. He didn’t snap his mouth shut, but he didn’t pull away either. The trashing omega didn’t enjoy this one bit. She began smacking where she could reach in annoyance. That’s when Tony finally noticed the pistol that had not been on the ground seconds ago. Resting at a distance from her, as if it had been forced out of her hands.

Piece by piece it all came together. She wasn’t a victim. She was an act.

Tony felt himself growl. “If you value your life, you’re going to tell us everything.”
