Tumblr media
There's a silence, weighed between three; Thor, Jane, and yourself. You feel is crushing you, resting across your chest, constricting your throat. You put your gloved fingertips on the table and rise.
"Pawdon," you cringe at your own voice, "I must see to my mother…"
Thor rises, Jane doesn't bother as she pats her stomach. You leave without further pretense. Your skirts ruffle around your slippers as you flee without true purpose.
It's an excuse. Your mother wouldn't want to see you, to be reminded of the burden she's left with. Your betrothed and his parents can hardly think better of the circumstance. Yet you loathe to think how it should be if this contract is declared null.
You enter the corridor and turn aimless towards the center of the house. Apart from the few rooms you've been shown into, you haven't much sense for the layout of the house. Loki never troubled to guide you and your mother kept herself cloistered up in her grief.
You shuffle forward. Perhaps a breath of fresh air or if you go so far as your chambers, you might hide in there. You proceed through to the drawing room and give pause. Low timbres in mid-hush, from behind a door not quite shut.
Your name escape the space between frame and clasp. You go no further, instead tiptoeing to hide behind a broad bookshelf, just between the hidden office and the entrance. You tamp down your breaths and listen, knowing you shouldn't, knowing you can only regret to hear the unbridled truth.
"...she can hardly speak a word…"
"Perhaps it is that you don't allow her too. You've always been one to do overly much speaking," Odin retorts, "Loki, have you considered her demureness may be a blessing? That the sort you are would do better with one who listens before they talk, eh? You could learn–"
"Father, she is not what I was promised."
"She holds the same bearing and she is not hideous. She's rather becoming, I think–"
"Oh yes, then why don't you have her? Have you tired of the maid already?"
"Careful, boy," Odin growls, "do not be so petulant. If you could restrain yourself you might realise what you've been given."
"A dumb mute–"
There's a strike of flesh on flesh. A grunt and a snarl, each from a different throat.
"She is to be your wife. Do not sow bitterness in the soil. You should pity that she must put up with an ingrate such as yourself. You are getting exactly as I promised, you will have your vineyard in Kyri, you will have an estate in tears when her father is regrettably gone… what else can I give you? Shall I cut my heart out?"
"If I refuse, I have Jade Park. It is mine by right."
"You haven't any right if you do not provide an heir to it," Odin rebuffs.
"She is not the only duke's daughter–"
"Of a dozen, I'm sure, but cruel as it is to say, they aren't all in queue for a second born."
"You needn't remind me. Thor has his pick, he may do as he pleases, and I get scraps!" Loki blusters, "fine, father, if only to rid myself of your mighty hand. I will marry and you will be gone from my estate. By my right!"
You press yourself to the wall and clamp your lips shut as Loki storms out. He has his hand on his cheek for a moment before tearing his fingers away. He does not look back as he crosses the chamber, stomping through the next doorway just as he sends a standing vase crashing to the floor with an angry swipe.
You stay stuck to the wall as you hear softer steps. It's too late to flee but the Grand Duke calls you out before you can think of it. Odin says your name just as he peeks around the bookcase.
"Apologies you had to witness my son's tantrum. At his age, you'd think he'd be past all that," he slants his lips tritely.
"Pawdon, yaw gwace, I didn't mean to intwude–"
"It mightn't have been your mission but along the way you did make the choice. I don't fault you that, curiosity is dangerous," he shakes his head, "I am ashamed, lady, to think my son is so stubborn and uncouth. It isn't how I've brought him up."
"It's… it's fine, yaw gwace, I know I am not… expected."
"Eh, none of us are, are we?" He tugs on his cravat with irritation, "what say you? Shall I show you the splendors of Jade Park as my sons steeps in his childishness?"
"Yaw gwace?"
"I presume you've not been given the proper look around. I admit my son is rightly jilted by me. I was rather reluctant to hand this over. It has ever been my most treasured property but even second sons need some value… and second daughters…" he offers his arm as he turns, "besides, it's been some years since a pretty young lady adorned my arm."
You look at his sleeve then his flinty hair. He does not censor himself but his truth is not mean. It is only just that. It is what is. You tuck your hand into the crook of his elbow and thank him softly.
"I should thank you, lady," he pats your hand, "I can appreciate someone who reveres silence."
He sets off, tugging you into step. You keep pace, comforted and for the first, at ease in this strange place. This place you must call home.
"We'll save the gardens, I've a little secret for you there."
🔹
“I must return to be sure the banns are read at perish, as they will be here,” your mother points Doreen to her luggage chest with her fan, giving a silent order. “Oh, to think, I must attend my daughter’s grave in the same week I sit to hear the other engaged.”
You’re silent, patient. You know it’s better to let your mother ramble than to interrupt. If any one cared to hear it, you might admit you’re not dismayed to see her leave.
“Be sure you behave. Your father and I made an effort to keep you aware of etiquette. Do mind your manners,” she chides.
“Yes, motha.”
“Oh, and…” she gives you a tortured look, “try to choose your words carefully.”
You nod. You know her meaning clearly. Avoid those syllables that underline your detriment.
“Good, good. Your father is devastated about your sister, you see? I must away.”
“I understand.”
“It isn’t so difficult to be a wife,” she comes close and looks you in your face, “it is part of being a woman. Give him an heir, or two, and you’ll have the rest of your life to be happy. Duty first.”
She touches your arm, squeezing it before she spins to remind Doreen not to forget her chain of pearls left on the vanity. You tuck your chin down and bite your lip.
Duty. What if your husband doesn’t do his? What if he cannot? If he is so repulsed by you, you might not even have the chance to provide him an heir.
🔹
As your mother departs, the Grand Duke and Duchess remain. The first son and Lady Jane take their leave as well, insisting on having the expectant wife home in case of a sudden labour. Even with a few additional guests, the house feels empty. You have only your novels and Doreen, and she is reticent company, a hard line drawn between you by status.
You tire of the pages. You’ve read them a dozen times at least. All of your books are well worn and near memorised. It’s easier to live in your head where you do not sound like a fool.
You approach the door and ponder without. You have a yearning to explore but a fear of what lays outside. You’ve never been much for social graces; you have neither tact nor eloquence. You tend to shy away and forget your posture.
You clutch the handle, battling your fear. You pull the door open, assured by the silence of the corridor, and emerge. You look right, then left, and turn to the former. You wander down to the door you recalled from your stroll with Odin.
The dark oak with the long vertical handles that spiraled at the top. You ease one open, edging quietly into the darkness within. You should’ve brought a candlestick but the windows allow enough light to limn the shelves and upholstered chairs around a single low table.
You wade through the dull hue and stop before a shelf nearest the window, shifting a book to read the spine. Swift. You’ve not read anything by that author. You slide it loose and flip back the cover and flutter past the front page; A Tale of a Tub imprinted into the sheet.
You squint as you turn to the first page of cramped font. You bend your neck and turn towards a light, not realising the glow moves towards you, only focus on the unraveling of letters before you. A shadow nears until you are drawn up by its umbrous presence.
“Oh!” You gasp in surprise.
Loki looks down his nose as he holds a candlestick. You peer past him to the dark rectangle of the doorway that leads to the attached sitting room. You give a sheepish look to the floor as he reaches for the book in your hand. You let him slide it free, his thumb hooked over the pages before he snaps it shut in his hand.
“Satire. A musing of theology and science. Hardly a woman’s novel,” he remands. “My mother may have something to your preference.”
You take a step back and look at the window, the sun yellow and warm through the pane. You bring one hand up your arm to pinch your sleeve nervously. He is cold and you will never be used to it. A whole life to be spent in the tempest of his distaste.
“Funny, you should be repulsed by me?” He snorts.
You face him and feel the crease between your brows. He lets his eyes drift to the ceiling and gives a scoff. He spins on his heel and sets the candlestick on a tall table between the shelves.
“Let us not pretend either of us are happy. Even if you say little, it is written across your face. I saw it the moment we met. Then I heard you speak and I knew it was all a great joke on my behalf.”
You frown and squeeze your arm, keeping your arm bent across your front, like a shield, “what did you see… when we met?”
He shoves the book back on the shelf. You watch the fabric of his vest strain between his shoulders, almost admire how he’s folded his sleeves to the elbow, though the tops remain bloused. He tilts his head and strides along the wall of books.
“You act so innocent. I don’t believe it, not like the rest. You sit and pout and mope, expecting everyone to coddle you, to feel bad for you. I do not.”
“I do not act–”
“You lie like any woman does. Let us be clear, my wife will not lie. Not to me.” He turns and crosses his arms, leaning on the bookshelf, hooking one foot over the other. He takes a breath and lets it out slowly. “You will be quiet unless given leave to speak. I needn’t be further embarrassed. My father and brother have always made certain I am derided, you will not join them.”
“Loki–”
“Lord Laufeyson, husband, nothing else. Not your companion, not some kindred spirit, not anything but a convenience. A duty,” he raises a long finger as he speaks, “once I get a child on you, then we will be very much as we were before. Separate. Can you understand me?”
You bite down as hard as you can, until your jaw hurts. He speaks to you in the same tone your father used when he was agitated. He treats you like a child and yet, as Odin said, he acts like one himself. Spoiled and mean.
“I am not stupid, yaw gwace,” you say.
He narrows his eyes and stands straight, gripping his hips as he glares at you, “we’ve said all we need to say. You may go.”
You don’t move. Not right away. You don’t know why you don’t. Your heart is drumming and your ears are tingling.
“I am dismissing you,” he sneers.
You stare. Still regardless of the sharpness to his lilt.
He pulls his hands off his hips and balls them, posturing as he takes a step forward. You wince as a spasm of anger tics in his cheek.
You let the tension out of your jaw and drop your arm straight. You surrender but you do not hang your head as you turn to leave. You walk stiffly towards the door. As you reach it, he speaks again.
“Do not come in here again,” he bids.
You do not answer. You don’t argue. You don’t look back. You just go.

For the Love of Fic: September 30
I've been back at my reading, y'all, doing some major catch up. And what a ride. There's a METRIC TON™ of amazing writers under the cut.
Brace thyself.
Tumblr media
🪐 = Year of Themed Creation piece
.
EZRA
Kisses of Fire by @simpingcowboy 🪐 It starts with an unconventional if not favorable bargain and then evolves. If I could make Ezra fall in love with me a little over a long time, I'd be patient too...
Lucky Stars by @brandyllyn I am SO IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC. Not only does Brandy nail Ezra's voice, cadence, swagger, and world, she even gives him someone who's onto his scoundrel-with-a-heart-of-gold behavior and just barely allows herself to be charmed by it. This feels so very canon and so very Ezra and I just need to roll myself up in it and cuddle it real hard.
Saying I love you with a letter by @songsformonkeys 🪐 Hanna is one of my favorite writers of deep emotions. Her Javi G is one of my all-time faves and I will never not laugh at her Javier. But I will knock you over to get at her Ezra and this is no exception even though you're gonna need tissues. Listen. Would like to get a letter of love and missing from Ez? Because this is it. Savor it.
Lost in the Weeds by @haylzcyon Have you seen this artwork? Insert Ezra and you and you have this fic. It's a beautiful little snippet that quietly documents falling in love with Ezra, and that's my favorite kind of Ezra story.
Wild Mountain Thyme 2 by @writeforfandoms Dragon Universe Ezra is back and he is not impressed with his tagalong. She's chipper and eager and seems to be up for his brand of grumpy today. I'm excited to find out how Jen turns his cart around.
.
DIETER BRAVO
Fifty Shades of Orange by @all-the-things-2020 🪐 If you love Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you're going to love love love how Dieter fits into this crossover. I am super impressed with this fic because it is, first and foremost, a HHGTTG fanfic. And it succeeds wildly at capturing the tone and attitude of all the characters. And I love that Dieter's just what Dieter is here, not the main character, but an odd problem to be solved. As a character, he fits so seamlessly into this world, I was kind of in awe for this whole ride. Aw man. Enjoy.
Position: 69, Position: Snuggled Spoon, Position: Sit on the Throne, Position: Kneeling Reach-Around, Position: Honey Bear, and Position: Froggy Style as part of @prolix-yuy's Bangathon 2023 Listen. LJ obviously loves her some Dieter. I appreciate the sweetness and softness of some of these, that Dieter is in need of some care and connection...and someone to just come undone around. I loved all of them, but props to Snuggled Spoon for it's slowness and softness, and to Froggy Style for the moment of the reveal. The whole Bangathon is wonderful, and the Dieter fics are certainly some of my faves there.
.
JOEL MILLER
It Pours from Your Eyes by @the-blind-assassin-12 I mean, yes, it's a Joel fic, but really, it's Tess. It's Tess and it's beautiful. Alyssa has woven a 1200 word spell here, expertly painting a picture of Tess's heart and how it works to keep Joel's beating. It's so gorgeous and I'm just bewitched and bereaved... I'm almost begging you to read this.
Surrender [chapter twelve] by @ezrasbirdie This chapter just wrapped me in the yearn blanket. Written in three sections from the POVs of Daisy, Ellie, and Joel, each section just pulls at a different heartstring and all of them together are such pretty music. Yes please this found family that loves each other so much...
Year of Small Joys - Candles by @keldabe-kriff 🪐 Inviting Joel over to dinner in Jackson is inviting a damaged soul to sit down and heal. He's still got a little PTSD here, but a nice meal by the light of scented candles he looted? That's a nice step in the right direction.
Let's Twist the Knife Again by @missredherring I am obsessed with this little "time travel" story. I don't know exactly the mechanics of what's going on here--is it a dream? is he being given a second chance? is he stuck in a time loop?--but watching Joel retrace some familiar steps knowing what he already knows is fascinating and I would love to see what comes next.
Hypothermia by @morallyinept Jett's cleverly come up with the "giflet," a drabble based on a gif. This one is Joel in his sleeping bag. And you're in yours. And it's cold. But it ends soft, and that's my favorite.
.
PERO TOVAR
The Herbalist: Part 7: Drinking Won’t Change the Audacity But Maybe It Will Help by @blueeyesatnight I'm so caught up in this story of beasts and strange people in Victorian England. Now we learn about Pero's past and a little more, but there's also something chewing at the edges about our heroine lady sleuth and I can't wait to find out what it is!
.
JACK DANIELS
F is for Forced Orgasms / Fucking Machines by @butchmandalorian 🪐 Istg Max is out to pull me out of my soft places and make a sub out of me. I am not usually into the hard stuff, but everything they write is like beautiful crack and I cannot stop. I think it's because everything is so real, there's so much checking in and trust involved, I probably sound like a broken record, but hells bells that's my kink and Max writes it so well. I will say that daddy-talk is usually a turnoff for me, but I really REALLY appreciate that Max sets the scene thoroughly and explains that it's just a title, that any word can be substituted (read the warnings). I for one used that suggestion and appreciated that heads up. Looks like someone not only knows how to write a man that takes care of his partner, but is also a writer that takes care of their readers. Love it.
Black and White by @never--doubt 🪐 I've never seen this soulmate mechanic before and it's an interesting take on the traditional mark--one that changes color when your soulmate touches you there for the first time. Oh to be on mission with Agent Whiskey when the change happens....
.
FRANKIE MORALES
Not Leaving You Again by @flightlessangelwings 🪐 (With Santi Garcia) It's a two-for-one not just in protectiveness and smut but in boys! It's hard not to fall for both of them--one of them sultry, one of them sweet--and it doesn't hurt that they're up to the task of sharing.
Buck Moon by @grogusmum 🪐 Listen. If you've ever wanted Frankie for the first time, naked (well, except maybe his hat) under the full moon out in nature under the full moon, have I got a fic for you! AAAAAAAA
We Came Along This Road by @insomniamamma 🪐 When J goes angst, J goes hard, and Frankie is many times her main target. Set within the world of the movie, the reader is his girl with his baby, and he's got some substance problems. Frankie has some trouble keeping promises.
.
OBERYN MARTELL
First Dance by @hopeamarsu 🪐 Asking Oberyn for a dance when you know right well what you're both after is genius. Because he's probably a beautiful dancer so you get to experience that, but also, it only ramps up what's coming. What I wouldn't give to sit on this man's lap and ask him to dance just to see the look on his face....
.
TIM ROCKFORD
Black Days 7: Times Are Gone For Honest Men, Black Days 8: Eyes Were Waking Up Just To Fall Asleep, AND 2023 Summer Kiss Prompt #5: Tim Rockford - Jealous Kiss by @something-tofightfor I will knock you down to get at Rachael's Tim Rockford. This man is complicated, their relationship is starting off complicated, and their circumstances have the potential to continue to complicate matters...and yet. These two seem to fit together just fine, easy as pie and coffee. The way he cares... I so can't wait to see what (and who) comes next.
.
SPECIAL GUEST CORNER
JANE FOSTER
Undefeated by @captainsophiestark 🪐 Listen. I've never played pong in my life, but if Jane Foster walked into my party and wanted in on a game, I'd pong so fast....
.
BOFUR THE DWARF
Love at First Fight by @ironmandeficiency 🪐 When you swear to keep your friend safe from the man who most recently broke her heart, your drunken ass threatens the wrong man. Or, rather, the right one. Or, rather, the right dwarf.

"Trouble" by Natalia Kills (consider this an experiment to see how many times your askbox eats it.)
(Pretty sure this one didn't get eaten because I didn't save it to drafts!) I hope the first chapter of Rumor Has It from Loki's POV will suffice!
Summary: New country, new school, and yet everything continues to be unremittingly tedious. Not even his brother's rager can cure Loki's apathy—that is, until he finds a surprise waiting in his bedroom. Perhaps life in the States won't be so boring after all.
Rating: T
Genre: Modern/Non-Magical AU, High School AU, Humor, Teen Romance

A NEW KIND OF FUN 1/1
“Just a few friends,” Thor’d said. Loki knew better. He leaned over the second floor railing, rolling his eyes as, in the large foyer below, his brother greeted yet another swarm of eager groupies. Typical. He doubted Thor knew any of them by name, but that didn’t stop each one from acting as if a beloved god had deigned to shine his light upon them. New school, new country, and nothing had changed.
How dull.
“Loki!” Thor called up to him. “Stop lurking and join us!” When Loki didn’t snap to it immediately, he glowered. “You promised!”
Loki exhaled a sour laugh, then gave Thor a winning smile. God forbid anyone disappoint the Golden Son. “Of course, brother!” He straightened, spreading his arms out. “Let’s get this party started!”
As if on cue, music boomed suddenly as the Marshmello-wannabe Thor had hired began his set in the ballroom. The sycophants below ate it up, jumping up and down with excitement. Loki sucked in a deep breath, slipping into his role like an old familiar second skin. With an unintelligible shout that matched the energy below, he hopped on the banister and slid down toward crowd. Thor and his fellow athletes surged forward to catch him, to lift him above their heads and carry him through the house.
Woo. Hoo.
It wasn’t long before every level of the estate was wall-to-wall with teens and crashers from the nearby university, nearly every one of them clutching a plastic cup of alcohol as if it were the elixir of life. Loki did his obligatory circuit, starting in the kitchen with the first keg stand competition of the night. He was suitably enthusiastic when Thor won. (Shocker.) Next came a few games of beer pong—which became easier to win each round as his opponents got more tipsy. Hurray for him.
He wandered through the crowds, keeping up his cheery demeanor despite the unspent sigh burning in his lungs. For the whole of two minutes, he seriously considered polishing off a bottle of hard liquor to get through the hours of absurdity that still lay ahead. But no. Drunk Loki would do stupid shit he didn’t want to have to pay for later. It was better to pretend.
A few idiots had started riding down the grand staircase on large baking sheets that they’d pilfered from the kitchen. One of them tried surfing instead of riding his bit of metal like a sled, and inertia flung him head over heels into the horde. Hardly scathed, he leapt to his feet with a howl, throwing his arms into the air in victory. The baking sheet was warped beyond repair, and the family housekeeper would positively lose her mind over it—until Thor paid her off with a lethal dose of charm and promises to replace everything. And money. Lots of money. The cure to all the ills of the world.
Loki’s snort earned him a sidelong glance from a nearby celebrant. It only took a second before recognition widened in her gaze. Shit, she was one of those girls from school. A giggling, hair-twirling girl who would flirt shamelessly with him if it meant getting closer to his brother. Unlike the popularity-chasers back home, they weren’t subtle here. At all. He could probably get her to do a double flip off the roof into the pool with only the promise he’d pass her number along.
Boring. Boring. Boring.
Her friends eyed him with varying levels of the same social-climbing interest. Oh, even better. They were of the less common breed that actually wanted him—or, rather, his reputation. It took very little effort to keep his disdain from his face, as practiced as he was. Perhaps he could find some entertainment in this. He made a show of looking them over, mouth curved up with an appreciative grin that he didn’t feel. Predictably, they all leaned toward him with almost feral anticipation.
“Why aren’t you dancing?” He laced the question with a measure of enticement.
Not bothering to wait for a reply, he headed toward the ballroom. They followed like the squealing lemmings they were.
The music was loud enough that he didn’t have to talk to any of them. He did, however, have to endure their pathetic attempts to grind against him seductively for the next half hour. Definitely not an amusing distraction, this. One of them tripped into him and her drink sloshed onto his shirt.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry!” she yelled over the thumping bass. Her face twisted into a bad imitation of a come-hither look as she bit her lip. “I can help you clean it up!”
Leaning forward, he didn’t miss the naked excitement in her large eyes. “Oh, darling,” he murmured against her ear. “You really can’t.” With a parting wink, he pushed past her and the others. He might have taken the slightest bit of perverse pleasure in the sneering “Bastard!” she shot at his retreating back.
Why were they always so surprised that playing with fire got them burned? Americans were so stupid.
He weaved through the masses toward the staircase in the back of the house, pulling his shirt away from his skin. God, what the hell had the girl been drinking? A little of everything from how awful it smelled. He ascended the stairs two at a time and nearly made it to the landing before someone caught his arm.
“Loki! Where are you going in such a hurry?”
He rolled his eyes, recognizing that overly saccharine feminine voice. Lorelei. The most boring of all the would-be temptresses. She’d been trying to sink her talons into him practically from the beginning of the term. Flanked by her two lackeys, she was dressed in whatever went for club chic in Cambridge—metallic and sparkly. And very, very short.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” He wasn’t about to mention needing to change his clothes lest she mistake it as an invitation. She seemed to think their brief interactions were some kind of distorted foreplay.
“What I want to know,” she said, inching closer to him and walking her fingers up his chest, “is why I never see you at Hal’s.” She gave him a pout he was supposed to find fetching. He didn’t.
“Not my scene.” He pried her fingers away from him. “Too pedestrian.”
There it was, the flash of confusion across her Instagram-worthy features whenever he used a big word. The girl had probably never read anything longer than a fashion magazine.
“Enjoy the party.” He stepped around her and hurried to his room.
Once inside, he pulled off the malodorous shirt and chucked it toward the laundry bin. He could still smell the unholy cocktail on his skin, though. Disgusting. There wasn’t time for a shower sadly. He’d rather not suffer whatever humiliation Thor would mete out should he try to skip the rest of the festivities. Because Loki promised. To stop brooding over their move across the pond and be happy for one night. Blah. Blah. Blah.
He'd just finished washing the stink off his chest in his private bathroom when he heard the latch of his bedroom door. Had he forgotten to lock it? If someone thought to make this their temporary love nest…
His trespasser wasn’t a couple in the throes of inebriated passion, but a petite girl with long brown locks, her jeans and flannel shirt more suited to one of the bonfires the townies put on every weekend than a party at a mansion. She didn’t notice his presence, her attention fixed on his library. He hung back as she ran her fingertips over the spines of some book or another, her touch bordering on reverent. Terribly curious, this. He felt as if he ought to know her, though he couldn’t say how—not until he caught her profile as she pulled down his copy of The Evolution of Physics.
Jane Foster? The driven student in his maths and science classes who gave him a run for his money when it came to earning top marks. He’d actually had to study to keep up with her, and the girl was in the year behind his. What was she doing here and in his room, no less? He was pretty sure that her sole ambition in life was in academia. Status-seeker she most definitely was not.
She whistled softly in admiration as she gently opened the book, likely noting that it was a first edition. He could stay in the shadows and quietly observe what she did next. Or he could have a little fun.
And fun was, well, fun.
Loki stepped more fully into the room. “Do you always go through people’s things without their consent?”
Jane let out a startled squeak, the book almost slipping from her hands. “I’m sorry. I—” The rest of her apology cut off abruptly when her gaze landed on him.
Emotions passed over her face in rapid succession. Sheepishness, followed by chagrin, then a different kind of surprise as she took in his state of undress. Her eyes seemed unable to leave his bare torso, cheeks turning a brilliant shade of pink. Did she just swallow? He grinned. This was too perfect.
“I’ve only come to change my shirt,” he said, reaching back to turn the lock on the door, “but if you insist…” He began undoing his belt buckle as he slowly crossed the room toward her.
Her eyes went comically round. “No! I’m not—” She backed into the shelves. “I’m not here for…that.” Was that a fight stance she just stepped into? That tiny thing thought she could take him?
Hilarious. Literally hilarious. He couldn’t keep a straight face anymore. He laughed harder than he remembered ever laughing. God, even his stomach hurt. “The look on your face,” he said once he could get a hold of himself. “I’m going to remember that for years.”
She huffed in disgust. “You’re such an asshole!”
Unmoved, he admitted with a shrug, “I’ve been called worse.”
She opened her mouth, probably to unleash another paltry insult, when someone knocked. “Jane?” a girl’s voice called out on the other side.
Oh, but Loki wasn’t ready for playtime to be over yet. He hurried to the door ahead of Jane, opening it hardly more than a crack to imply that his companion had to make herself presentable.
“Looking for your friend?” he asked the dark-haired girl in the hallway.
“Whoa! You’re actually kind of hot,” she said, sizing him up with the same kind of annoying interest the others had shown him earlier.
He gave her a wry smile. “Shocking, I know. But you’ve come for Jane.” He nudged the door all the way open and said conspiratorially, “She’s been keeping me company.”
Jane’s friend gasped as her gaze flicked between the two of them, very obviously drawing the conclusion he’d intended.
He let out a sigh. “It’s a pity we were interrupted when things were getting really fun.” To Jane, he gave a forlorn expression. “I suppose you have to leave now.”
She was gearing up to deny everything by the wild glint in her eyes, and on impulse, he took her face in both hands and drew her up to him for a kiss. He’d only meant to shut her up and perhaps lend weight to the misconceptions he’d been seeding, but damn. When she forgot herself and relaxed into him, tilting her head just the right way, he was tempted to slam the door shut on her friend and have a good snog. Who knew the teacher’s pet had it in her?
But despite his every instinct to deepen the kiss, he broke apart from her. Because—yes, that. The glazed-over look she gave him, rosy lips parted in an absolute stupor. That was worth cruelly ending their interlude too early.
“I’ll see you on Monday, then,” he said with another wistful sigh as he stepped back from her.
She nodded numbly, staggering as her friend dragged her out of the room. It wasn’t until they were halfway down the hall that he realized she still had something of his. A wondrously horrible idea came to him as he leaned out of the doorway.
“Oh, and Jane!” he called after her loudly, making sure to get the attention of everyone milling about nearby. “You can borrow my books any time you want.” He winked at her horrified expression before shutting the door and succumbing to another fit of laughter.
Finally something new. And he was only getting started.

"Do you think she can handle it?" The black-haired woman asks the other one, worry evident in her voice.
"She's so eager to please she will make sure she will." The blonde hair winks at her and presses your legs down towards the mattress. In response, you huff and squirm trying to move your legs away but Brunnhilde only slaps them apart.
"Don’t disrespect your king.” She warns you and scoffs.
“Be a good girl for us, come on. You are the one who wanted this anyway," Jane reminds you, her fingers brushing against your thighs softly. All you can do is whine again spreading your legs apart of your own volition, and sitting prettily waiting for whatever was next.
"Please…" you mewl squirming your legs trying to close them but Jane held them tightly. Her big muscles shone brightly against the night light.
"Is too much. " You shout and your whole body shakes to the rhythm of your fifth orgasm. Was an hour ago when they had pinned you down for disobeying them. But it wasn't your fault they were away so much on business and whatnots. What were you supposed to do when your pussy ached so? You needed some release and they walked inside the chambers battle clad in just the right moment to torture you and thus the punishment began.
Jane and Brunnhilde were co-ruling Asgard together and they had been together for some time. Yet one fateful night, one night that truly felt like any else, you didn't expect them to show interest in you, just another humble maid. One beckoning stare from Jane and another from Brunnhilde and there you were their new shiny toy. That was six months ago now you were on their bed, naked as the day of light and crying from too much pleasure.
"If you wanted to cum so bad what else is there for us to do than to make sure you won't stop cumming, huh?"
“We only want to please you, sweet one, what else can we do? Look at how eager your poor pussy is. I don’t think she is even close to enough yet.”
“Think after this we bound to teach her some manners or bet yet tie up her legs and never let her cum again without us. What do you think, baby?”
“That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day.” Jane beams at her wife and looks at you with a darkened stare. You moan again, your clit now oversensitive as you watched Brunnhilde proceeding to remove her armor. Without further ado, she lands her pussy on yours and begins wildly riding you.
"You're nothing but my sex pet, pretty one, did you really think you're even allowed to make your own decisions? No, you thought wrong. Time for you to do whatever I tell you to do."
Jane lets go of your legs and as if they have an unspoken agreement she removes her clothes as well and proceeds to sit on your face, her body facing Brunnhilde's. The sound of them loudly making out moaning at your touches while you were struggling to lick Jane made you even hornier. Tonight you'd truly learn just how much you could take. A glance at the golden mirror next to the bed held the most perfect picture for you. You are perfectly planted by your two lovers holding on to one another. Breasts brushed over each other as they used and worked your body to their pleasure. You were nothing but their pet and you were very glad to be so.
"Harder!" Jane yells at Valkyrie and all she does is drill your body to the mattress riding you with incredible ferocity. Is clear who was calling the shots but this was only evident inside the confidence of these royal champers. Outside, they were both vicious strick co-rulers. Brunnhilde extends an arm to Jane's pussy rubbing her feverishly, a favor Brunnhilde returns immediately. While the blonde woman was riding your face the way she needed you to not giving you a lot of space to breathe. They loved using you, working your body as if it was nothing but a toy and nothing more than a golden coveted object. It was everything you ever wanted and more. You spend your days and nights close to their chambers or on the rare ocassion bound to their tents when they went on a trip.
They had a pact that they would always cum together which you found endearing. You found out about this deal early on, and it surprisingly warmed your heart. Jane is the one to cum first as per usual which only makes Brunnhilde break out into a thunderous moan screaming and crying out her name. They loved repeating each other names like that, moaning and screaming as if to establish dominance over one another.
Satisfied in their pleasure they both use your body for as long as they need to.
“Time for a snack.” The black-haired woman says happily and points to you which makes the blonde woman nod positively in response.
They crush their lips against each other, hungrily kissing until they both kneel in front of your pussy and together start assaulting you with their tongues making you cum once again. You should have known you would have been the snack yet sometimes your brain got really hazy cause of them.
If all punishments ended up like this maybe you'd be naughty more often.

why did Jane break up with Thor? Because she thought Thor didn't love her?
Well, you should ask Waititi that, my friend.
Literally nothing is explained because he himself doesn't know anything. Everything I say is A) my interpretation of what Waititi WANTED to show but failed horribly at the execution because he's a terrible writer, director, and storyteller and B) my understanding of Thor's character that I've tried to gain over the past 10 yrs. I built this city.
What Waititi WANTED to show was that Thor panicked at being destined to lose his Jane (turns out Loki was right when he said 'say goodbye now so it hurts less'). He slowly, subconsciously started hurting her to drive her away from him. If she gives up on him, he can tell himself he did everything he could, it just wasn't meant to be.
That's exactly how he internalized it. That she gave up on him when he moved heaven and hel to be w her. Hence, the panic attack upon seeing her again.
Tumblr media
This makes sense with his characterization. I just wish Waititi SHOWED that instead of leaving me to do the hard work like Charlie Day.
To answer your question, I don't think it's that simple that she thought he doesn't love her. She knows he loves her, EVEN when he never said it. Period. Like I said, it was that he doesn't love her the way she does him to hurt her again and again when she didn't do anything.
Waititi won't tell you this because he doesn't know anything about our Jane. But I'm telling you,
To poor Jane, it was that Thor had started acting this way because the Prince couldn't take being trapped in her tiny apartment cage anymore. Couple that with him never having said I Love You, she concluded that she was not enough for him.
He really does hurt her a lot. :(

CRASH!
"Watch where you're going!"
I scrunched my face, trying to figure out what the hell was happening as I got dragged awake by a hushed commotion from my living room. I squinted through the dark at the alarm clock only to be near-blinded by the bright green glow:
4:03am
I groaned, rolling over on my other side to see my girlfriend, Jane foster, rubbing at her eyes.
"Hey," I managed, my voice gravelly. Jane turned to me with squinted eyes, somehow still managing to make that cute. "What's happening?"
"I don't know. Did you hear-?"
The door to our shared bedroom slammed open, and I shot straight up in bed. Silhouetted in the doorway was an absolutely giant man, long blond hair glowing with the backlighting. I thought I might be hallucinating until Jane sat forward and spoke up.
"Thor?"
"Thor?" I couldn't help echoing. The man before us just beamed.
"Hello! I apologize for interrupting the two of you - I truly wouldn't be here if it weren't urgent."
I frowned, even as Jane sat forward further.
"How did you-?"
Before she could get all the way through her question, the answer popped out from behind Thor.
"Jane, I'm so sorry!"
Darcy Lewis peeked around Thor's massive form to pop her head into the room. I huffed a sigh and flopped back against the pillows. I normally liked Darcy, but not at four in the morning. I didn't like anyone but Jane at four in the morning.
"Darcy, what's going on?"
"He just showed up at the lab!" said Darcy, pushing past Thor even further into the room. "I was there doing... stuff with Ian, and he just appeared in a blast of light like the first time we met him."
"I need your help, Jane," Thor said, stepping in to pick up the story where Darcy left off. "Something is coming for Midgard, and if we don't stop it here, it will not only lay waste to your planet, but it will aim for mine next."
Jane sighed like that wasn't the most terrifying sentence in the world, then stood at last. I'd known her long enough that I was also a little too used to this kind of thing, so I didn't move to get up, even as Jane turned to me with furrowed eyebrows.
"I'm sorry about this," she said. I gave her a tired grin and a wink.
"That's okay. I know my girlfriend's a badass who has to help save the world sometimes."
Jane flushed, and I heard Darcy make a gagging noise at the same time Thor said "aw". I ignored them both, however, as I shifted slightly lower against the headboard, working my way back to being under the covers.
"I hope you'll forgive me going back to sleep instead of getting up to help you with this, though."
Jane gave me a soft smile, leaning down across the bed to kiss me softly on the forehead. I smiled up at her, the love of my life, shooting her a little wink as I nestled down among the blankets again. I watched her walk to the door, collecting Thor and Darcy as she went, all three of them stepping out into the living room. Jane shut the door softly behind her, and I finally closed my eyes. I sighed, settling back down into the soft, warm blankets around me. I almost got all the way back to sleep before I heard another loud crash from the living room, followed by Jane's whispered reprimand, not quite loud enough for me to make out the words.
I sighed, then flung the blankets off of myself and started trudging for the living room. Peaceful sleep was likely out of the question, and I should probably go support my girlfriend anyway. I'd go to the ends of the Earth for Jane, and that was all well and good, but nobody talked about dragging yourself out of bed to go a hundred feet at four in the morning. That was the true test of love.
As soon as I cleared the bedroom door, shuffling in like a zombie, I found Thor leaning over the dining table with Darcy in the kitchen, Jane hovering over Darcy's shoulder and trying to take a bowl out of her hand.
"I'm gonna make us pancakes!" hissed Darcy, clearly trying to be quiet despite how miserably she was failing. Jane hissed back in the same tone.
"No! It's too loud, and it's four am! Just come help me go over the stuff Thor brought-"
"I'll make pancakes," I said. Jane and Darcy both froze, mid-wrestle, and turned to me, Thor looking up too with a grin on his face.
"Honey! Are you sure?" asked Jane, letting go of the bowl and taking a few steps towards me. I gave her my best tired smile and closed the rest of the distance between us, wrapping one arm around her waist.
"Yeah, I'm sure. I can't just leave my superhero girlfriend high and dry in a possibly-world-ending situation with no one to make pancakes and coffee," I said, giving her a kiss on the forehead. She smiled as Darcy piped up from the kitchen.
"Maybe start with coffee first."
"Oh, definitely start with coffee first," I agreed, at last releasing Jane and heading into the kitchen. I sighed as I finally, successfully took the bowl from Darcy, setting it down next to the coffee maker as I got things together to brew a fresh pot.
Thankfully, it didn't take long to get a coffee in my hand, then in the hands of the three people crowded around the dining table. I took a long sip of my own drink, then got to work on the pancakes while the others tried to troubleshoot whatever emergency Thor had shown up with.
Based on their tones and lack of overall panic, I had full confidence they'd find a solution to whatever the issue was. Jane especially loved nothing more than solving a challenging problem, and every time I looked over at her, her face was alight with the spark that I'd fallen in love with. Even though it was four in the morning.
Finally, the first batch of pancakes was ready to come off the griddle. Thor wandered over to me as I grabbed a spatula and started serving them up, leaving Jane and Darcy at the dining table.
"Is there anything I can do to assist you?" he asked, leaning on the counter next to me as I worked. I shook my head.
"Nope! Just go ahead and dive in. I'd tell you to bring some over to Jane and Darcy, but I know my girlfriend too well to suggest you bring syrup anywhere near a project she's working on."
Thor chuckled and grabbed a plate full of pancakes, moving to sit at the stool on the other side of the counter from me.
"You and Jane make a wonderful couple," he said, digging into the pancakes with no hesitation. I smiled at him, then let my gaze wander over to Jane behind his back. She hunched over the information before her, moving it around and discussing theories with Darcy. My smile widened as I watched her, a warm glow spreading through my heart that only intensified as she caught me looking and gave me a gorgeous smile of her own. She turned back to her work, and I reluctantly turned my attention back to the pancakes and the Asgardian before me.
"She's the best. Makes it easy to be a good couple, when my partner's so wonderful," I said. Thor hummed, a comfortable silence resting between the two of us. Despite how early and against my will I'd been dragged out of bed, and despite the less-than-casual circumstances, we'd found ourselves in a little bubble of pre-sunrise peace. I'd follow Jane anywhere, anytime, especially since sudden 4am intrusions often turned into little moments like this.

—//—
The day was young and the sun was still shining among the city across Miami into the Stark Mansion. Pepper was off at Stark Industries with Natalie Rushman, who’s real name is Natasha Romanoff, meanwhile Jason took care of the business around the household. It’s been rather hectic lately so someone at least needed to make sure no one starved and everything was well taken care of.
He thanked god his grandnephew, Rei Stark, beautiful mother was taking care of the boy this week. Because then, they would have another mystery on their hands with how curious that child can secretly be.
He was answering a few questions about a financial calls in the living room and flipping across channels on the TV that involves news about the latest Stark Expo, stuff involving Dr. Bruce Banner, The Feltons daily news and information about The Strange Family son, Leonard Strange.
As well as a small crisis forming in New Mexico appeared on various news channels. He rolled his eyes knowing S.H.I.E.L.D. was probably getting word of it already and coming to—
Suddenly the floor started rumbling loudly underneath his feet and the other things started shaking. He quickly turned over to catch a lamp that almost tipped over and crashed.
His eyes widen and shouted into the phone, “I’ll have to call you back, Laura!”
He swiftly made his way down the stairs to see the basement turned open floor lab was being destroyed. And in the middle of it stood his only nephew holding back a jackhammer as AC/DC blasted into the headphones he was wearing. So he wasn’t actually listening or notice him standing there.
“HEY! BOB THE BUILDER CUT IT OUT!” Jason shouted stumbling through the rubble, deeply crackled opened walls and dirty floors that surrounded them.
If his eyes couldn’t widen even more, his eyes darted down to the 1970 model of Stark Expo he helped design decades ago laying on the ground. The model that both Stark siblings, were discussing on becoming something evolutionary different for the world. He wasn’t as smart as them to understand everything they studied and created but he understood it was far too important to not model the idea.
He reached forward lace his fingers crossed the model and questioned, “Jarvis?”
“Yes, sir?” Repiled the A.I.
“What is this? I mean, what is he building?”
“It’s to be believed Mr. Stark has discovered a New Element and is determined to use it to power his suit for a greater timeframe.”
“A new element? Damn. Alright, turn the music off.”
JARVIS did what was told as he unwired Tony’s music as the brunette genius shouted confused and insulted by the actions. Until his eyes fell on his uncle with a nod, “Hey.”
“Hey.” He replied removing his jacket and rolling up his sleeves.
“You’re creating a new element, i see.”
“Yup! After 20 years, dad is still taking me to school and I’m surprised I’ve haven’t seen it sooner.”
“Because it wasn’t time for you figure it out eariler. Need help?”
“Seriously?”
“You ruined my floor.”
“That’s means your helping!”
“But your cleaning up afterwards.”
“Damn it.”
The two got to work, opening walls, expanding wires, lengthened the tunnels across the room. Tony coined it ‘hardware mood’, using his hands to create the lengthy contraction instead of his machinery. ‘Going old school’ as Jason liked to call it, pulling apart drilling into the tunnels and adding placements to the sections.
It placed looked insanely messy but you knew where everything is.
By the time, Tony was drilling in something the door to the basement opened as Agent Phil Coulson walked in saying, “I heard you broke the perimeter.”
“Uh, yeah that was 3 years ago, where you’ve been?” Tony replied, walking over to the tunnels and vents they built.
“Doing some stuff.”
“Yeah well, me too and it worked.”
Both men chatted, as Tony wondered around the room grabbing items as Coulson picked up a half built Shield that could’ve belong to Captain America. That was when Jason stepped into the picture returning with another box of tools, cables and basic hardware.
Tumblr media
The blonde smirked snatching up the item, showing it to Tony who’s face light up, having Coulson help them put the Shield underneath the tunnels to level it. Perfectly leveled.
“I’m busy, what you want?” Tony said, receiving a light slap on the arm from Jason due to the attitude he gave Coulson, “Ow!”
Coulson held back a small chuckled, “Goodbye. I’ve been reassigned, director Fury wants me in New Mexico.”
“Fantastic. Land of enchantment.”
“Or so I’m told.”
Jason spoke up, “The small crisis in New Mexico, involving the decency sized craters with a hammer smacked in the middle of it?”
“Good, your informed.” Coulson added with a half smile.
“I saw the news.”
“I would like you to come, Stark seems to be handling things here perfectly well.”
“Yeahhh. Nope! I’m retired.”
“Never too late to jump back in the game.”
“And I’m busy.”
Tony gave his uncle a look to go do it and get out of the house, that he can handle everything from here. He weighted his options, not wanting to leave his house unsupervised and tired of going deep into SHIELD missions, he rather likes retirement.
“I don’t know, man. Again, I’ve been retired for more than 15 freaking years.” Jason exclaimed.
Coulson thought for a moment, he really wanted to have company for a couple of days and said, “You only need to scout the town and see what’s happening.”
“Undercover work?”
“Yes. Only for 4 days, i promise than you can come back.”
“2 days. I’m only doing simple work, let me remind you that i rather not mess with the others there.”
“Fine by me. Waiting for you in the car.”
Tony giggled at the speechless face his uncle made. It was priceless! He told him to go ahead with Coulson for a few short days, he promised he won’t reck the house, hopefully. Plus he knew the man had a suitcase still packed from their trip to France upstairs.
He sent a playful glare to his nephew, grabbing his things and met Phil outside.
The man drove them to New Mexico, taking stops to stretch their legs and eat on the way there. Both men chatted to keep the time at ease, having respect for one another and actually enjoying the company. Phil Coulson wasn’t a half bad, but that doesn’t mean he won’t heist to tease him.
“So, how’s the thing with May going?” Jason let out ever so causal, sipping a bottle of water.
Phil blinked hearing him and awkwardly blushed, “I—i-how did you know that?”
“I heard of the story that you were on a undercover mission with her and a few interactions were made.”
“It was completely professional.”
“Oh, so taking 2 minutes to unhook her bra was professional?”
“There were cameras! I was trying to sell that we were together.”
Jason snickered, “Oh yeah according to her, you sold it.”
“That was an act for the camera!” Coulson added trying to defend himself, “So you and May talk, huh?”
“Quite a bit. Her emails about you are hilarious.”
“Remind me to call her later. And i will have you know, I was being a gentleman.”
“Oh yeah, of course Phil. You were committed.”
“I think i did alright. You think i was committed?”
“Your one of a kind, Coulson. Don’t ever change.”
The rest of the ride meant a few jokes here and there, stopping for snack break and bringing up movies along with latest shows on TV. There were a few mishaps and things that needed to be taken care of during their stops.
They arrived soon enough to New Mexico, as an SHIELD base was already being formed around the outsets of the town nearby the crater that held the hammer. The moment they exist the car, Jason slid down darting to examine the hammer in awe. Plenty of people tried surrounding and lifting the metallic gray block from the ground but it didn’t seem to budge at all.
Tumblr media
“Wow..” muttered Jason, giving a once over to Phil who snapped pictures.
The carvings were immaculate, the lining was framed perfectly, the engraved symbols were placed in a fitting manner. The hammer looked one of a kind. Magical. Ungodly amount of time and effort was made into making it. Jason must admit he gave credit to the people who shaped such a glorified item.
Hell, the man stepped over looping the brown handled into his grip trying to lift it himself. He grunted and huffed, taking a couple of breaths trying his mightiest to lift the god damn hammer. But nothing! It didn’t even bother to slightly budge for him. He sighed, releasing the grip of the handle and stomped up to the previous stop he want in.
“Anything?” Coulson asked, humoring his attempt to lift the hammer.
“Nope.” He replied, huffing and massaging his grip, “That thing is stuck!”
“Yikes. Here’s the deal, your gonna get a change on clothes then scout the town.”
“How about you? Gonna try and lift it yourself?”
“Haha! No, I’m handling a few pressing matters and help set up the base of operations.”
Jason nodded walking back to the car, he seemed out of breath from trying to lift the god damn hammer. It was super glued to the ground, not even trucks and machines with horsepower could even remove it from the ground.
He found himself a nicely fresh change of causal clothes. Being a brown jacket with a olive green t-shirt, dark jeans, and a pair of his favorite classic sneaker. Along with a pair of simple sunglasses that were gifted by Pepper last Christmas. He carried his old school SHIELD ID, walkie-talkie and a handheld gun in his pocket. Just in case.
The man wondered around town, taking notice of the simplicity of it all. The houses, buildings, stores that held the items needed to built a good foundation, a general grocery store, a diner that held the delicious smell of pies, a bar and plenty of other places to visit. It made him smile. He liked it a lot, especially since the afternoon sun shinned just right above the cloud, giving the waves a cozy breath of fresh air.
He enjoyed it.
He walked around, entertaining himself at a coffee shop nearby the gas station. He was waiting in line, reading the signs on the wall and giving small nods to older folk or pregnant women who walked past him, letting them go in front of him. He wasn’t in a hurry to get out or anything, his job was the scout the town and see what type of people they’re dealing with.
And so far? Everyone seemed to be general folk living their day to day lives, working 9-5 meanwhile the teenagers and children were out at school or something.
Everything was going good until he was accidentally bumped into by someone.
He didn’t see the person, only what dropped on the floor next to his feet. A older brunette doll, that was wearing a purple dress, a white lab coat, strapless heels and a ponytail. Alongside a pair of sunglasses on the doll. Looked more like an cool action figure than a doll, designed by wonderfully crafty people.
Little did he know that the young girl who this doll belonged to would be important to him later on. As well as the mother.
He chuckled as his eyes darted up to the person, “Hey sweetheart, I believe this is yours?”
The young girl turned around, her red skirt bouncing in the wind from the movement she was making and fixing her crafty jacket a bit, pushing up her bangs to face the man. Her big brown eyes were covered by square frames. Along with adorable dimples.
Tumblr media
“Ohh? Oh! I’m sorry mister..” She repiled shyly with a smile, and gently taking the doll from him.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. You don’t want to lose her, she’s smart.” He replied with a smile.
“Yeah my doll is a scientist! She’s love coffee, dresses in purple and uh, stuff.
“Hahaha. That’s amazing, um sweetie?
“Hmm?”
“Sorry to ask, but um where’s your mama?”
“Uh, she’s getting extra coffee from her and a few friends.”
“And she left you alone?”
“I’m not that’s little, you know. I’m 15–16!…ish, very soon.”
“Child. You’re still a child.”
“I’m almost 16, sir.! Sorry for shouting.”
“Don’t be, it’s alright.”
He was just about to ask her name when..
“Mew Mew!”
Came a voice, sounding it belonged a women. She ran up to them, holding a box of donuts and a two cups of coffee. The women seemed to a short brunette with long curls, a beanie that bounced with her every step and glasses. She was pretty! Her features matched the young girl perfectly, it made him smile knowing that her mother returned quickly.
“Mew Mew, i told you to stay put, sweetie.” Said the mother with a smile pushing up her glasses, sounding sweetly protective of the girl.
“I’m sorry, i had to throw out my trash mom.” Apologized the young girl.
“At least tell me where you’re going next time. This place is sorta crowded. You almost gave me a huge fright!”
“I’m sorry. I will tell you next time. But I’m okay! I promise!”
The brunette noticed the man and said, “I’m so sorry about her! She just ran off and i had no idea what happened..i hope she wasn’t too much trouble or anything.”
That was when Jason spoke up with a politic tone replying, “Oh no! It’s completely alright, you know how kid—I mean, teens are. Just be lucky, it was me who found her and not some other guy.”
“You have kids? I mean no offense, your like a young and tall bachelor.”
He chuckled, “That i know of, I have one. He’s at home with family.”
“You’re new around here, huh?” She questioned with a smile.
“It’s obvious isn’t it?”
“YUP! I mean the jacket means your suitable and out of town, no offense.”
“None taken. I’m just here for two days, I needed some rest from a long trip.”
She smiled, “Well you pick a odd place to stop. Oh well, welcome to New Mexico. I’m Darcy and you already met Mew Mew.”
Tumblr media
“Melissa!” Cut in the young girl, with a grin.
Jason nodded with a small laugh and decided to use a nickname of his, “Nice to meet both of you. I’m JJ.”
“JJ, huh?” Darcy challenge with a smile, raising an eyebrow.
“You’ll find out my real name later, if your lucky.”
“Well i like it! It’s cute. Oh I’m sorry again for taking up your time.”
“It’s okay, doll. No one was breaking any bylaws or anything. You seem like your in a hurry as well?”
“Oh yes! Meeting up a fews friends of mine for breakfast and stuff. Oh shit, we’re running late. Thanks again, JJ!”
“No problem! Be careful and stay safe out there.”
The women walked away with a smile, glancing back at him thinking about something as her daughter waved at the man. He chuckled, waving goodbye to the pair noticing he was finally next in line and made a quiet order. He thanked the sweet barista with a charming smile, who giggled softly at his politeness, as he made his way around town.
His thought went back to the women he met earlier, Darcy, and her grinning daughter. They seemed like kind folk, but a part of him felt like he seen something in Darcy’s face before. Like he met a version of her in the past. Maybe her mother or an older sister? He didn’t know what it was, but he felt calm and a bit like himself around her aura.
He smiled.
Moments like that made him feel good. He has seen and met plenty of faces beforehand in his life. People on missions, dates he was dragged into going on, parties he danced at, walks in the park and just faces that made him feel a sense of déjà vu. A charming old feeling, per say.
As he scout the town, he scanned the area and the people, when suddenly he heard it. A loud banging tune. A righteous voice that could sent a smile to any man or women who met them. His face whipped around to hiding across the corner of a store, noticing the group.
A short light haired brunette with a beauty mark, an older man dressed in a patterned shirt and a tall blonde wearing a brownish jacket. And next to them stood Darcy, along with her daughter. But his eyes bounced back to the voice.
The mannerisms of the blonde haired man held such strong attitude towards the others around him. Tall and muscular like he was meant to do business with someone. The voice was righteously kind and oddly enough to seem like he lost his footing. His young facial features made him look like he was sculpture by…
A god.
Jason smirked. Pulling out his phone, he called Coulson, simply saying, “I think I found your sources, Phil…”
——
He returned back to the base of operations.
It was jarring scurrying up the step, having not been in a SHIELD makeshift office for more or less 15 years. Practically 20 years! A heat wave hit him. The man would’ve shivered at the thoughts and memories that had the option to wash over him.
He snapped back towards Coulson watching the man work, watching scanners and scouts shouting loudly across the room. He even noticed a blonde man dressed in black in the corner, tightening his arrowheads giving him a small nod, acknowledging him.
“Phil. We have your guy.” Jason spoke with a clear voice, catching the people in the room’s attention.
He explains to Coulson to try getting into contact with a Dr. Jane Foster and her little group of misfits, collecting as much information they can. Coulson was impressed by hearing this, already on the same page before he showed up finding information about Dr. Foster, calling orders to everyone who was in the area.
Jason nodded, about to walk out when somebody tossed a gun at him. He caught it and examined the weapon. A position for a sharp shooter.
“Hey—wait, no! Coulson, we had a deal. I ain’t doing this. I did the light work you asked for.” Yelled out the blonde following the agent across the halls.
“Yeah well, I had other plans. I figured you’ll like to get a front row seat on the action, high up.” Coulson said, with a small smile, “If he shows up.”
“Whatever you plan on doing, you better keep an eye on them and make sure no harm comes to them. Their group had a child with them.”
“Relax Wood—”
“Underwood.”
“Sorry, Underwood. I won’t harm anyone, we just need to speak to that one guy. I promise we’ll try to play it safe, but we don’t know who we’re dealing with.”
“You’re window with me will be closing very soon, Coulson. So make it quick, then I’m out.”
“Crystal clear, Underwood. But I do have a question, why did you come?”
He blinked and just shrugged, he really didn’t know the true answer to that question. He thought about it, trying to word it in his mind the best he can, leaving out a few details for himself.
“Because my nephew wanted me out of the house..and I-I had no other choice but to make sure SHIELD that knows what they’re doing…I’ve seen the records and it’s utter chaos.” He answered softly.
Coulson nodded and pressed, “We’re trying to fix it as we go along, I promise. Why did you retire? You know either way, it won’t last. You will always have a part of you that wants to come back to this..I mean look at your life now.”
Jason didn’t answer him this time, just walked away with a grip on the rifle. He knew the plenty of reasons why he retired and honestly he enjoyed retirement, hoping to get this job done. But it won’t say most of it out loud himself.
———
This time, we was perched on a high level outside with the archer he saw earlier. Clint Barton.
Tumblr media
The man wasn’t half bad. Snarky, has a murder stare he can appreciate, very knowledgeable about stuff and honestly a pretty chill guy. Along with a bit grumpy due to the rain.
In the New Mexico, it was raining again. The last two days have on and off again rain with sun and wind. Mother Nature didn’t seem too happy. Some agents didn’t mind it meanwhile the others were annoyed by it.
He doesn’t mind the rain too much.
“So, you’re the guy Nat was telling me about?” Clint said after a few minutes of silence between them.
Jason was hunched over readjusting his gun, and looked over his shoulder heading him, “What?”
“Natasha. She told me about you.”
“Uh, Clint, I don’t know a Natasha, buddy.”
He chuckled, “Ohhhh! You don’t know? Your women from legal, Natalie Rushman, is actually an agent of ours..”
“The fuck?” Jason let out, taking a moment to connect the dots and groaned, “God damn it! Pepper hired her, and didn’t even notice the clues.”
“Ah, well, she’s good at her job! Could fool anyone. She’s a widow for gods sakes!”
‘So was my big sister..’ He thought to himself, before adding, “Yeah, she fooled me. Uh, what did she say about me?”
“That you’re agile, smart, kind.” Clint snorted, “And bit of a grump. No offense! She likes to tell me about her missions and the people she meets, but she doesn’t know much about you..”
“And I like to keep it that way. For your knowledge and hers, I’m uh, just a family friend of Stark’s.”
“A very close one it seems. You didn’t seem like you wanted to leave the house.”
“Yeah well, someone needs to keep an eye on them. Enough about me, Clint, what about you?”
“Simple man like you, i guess. I remember wanting to work with SHIELD for a long time and I’ve been working 9-5 for some time now, trying to perfect my craft. Oh, I have a beautiful fiancé not a lot of people know that.”
Anyone can see the soft grin on Clint’s face mentioning the last part. He seemed very proud of it, as if he was planning on starting a family with whoever this fiancé was. In result, it had Jason smiling.
“Treat her right, Barton.” Jason told him with a smile.
“I try.” Clint replied, “You got anyone?”
“Uh..um, it’s complicated.”
“How complicated?”
“I take girls out on dates but it never last.”
“Hmm! You need to try finding a girl outside of your usual spots.”
They waited. Wait long hours of the day, Clint on his leveled perched up with his bow and arrow. Jason on the other side, underneath an umbrella, his gun in hand, eyes narrow. It was dark, rainy, quiet, you couldn’t hear much. Only the ruffle of trees, wet sand being slouch around and machines working.
Until they heard it. The grunts, groans, yells and pure shouting that started picking up pace. The running from starts perked Jason and Clint up in positions.
Then the pair saw it, the situation of a tall, blonde man with full on muscles over his body. His wet hair and pissed off look that made him look like Zeus. Clint got a clean shot at him and Jason narrowed, his gun able to get a closer look.
“Damn he’s uh, good looking..” Jason muttered, couldn’t lie and thanked god his old friends weren’t here to make heart eye at him.
“Yeah he is..” Clint muttered back then started asking Coulson to fire, who ordered him to wait.
The tall blonde man raised growled and roared like a large monster of rage, his hands gripping onto the handle of the hammer. He smirked as he pulled and grunted waiting for a result, but nothing came. Just like when Jason pulled it earlier. No result.
However, this man looked upset, screaming and his knees fell to the ground. He looked defeated. Like dialing back on doing a simple task, like he meant to lift it. Jason blinked, trying to think onto what this god was trying to achieve!
‘God of what?’ He asked himself, watching the man to see if he would do anything else. A part of him might’ve been empathetic toward him, if he wasn’t standing the freaking rain roaring in defeat and annoyance.
He snapped out of this thoughts when Coulson called it. Jason ran down with other agents cuffing Thor wrists together. Clint lowers his bow and arrow. They brought him into a room to be interrogated by Phil Coulson, the blonde man stayed quiet the whole time…
—————
Coulson paced back and forth, he just wanted a name. He bite his nails. Proof that this man has something to hide for he can report back to Fury. Phil kept glancing at the monitors, watching this man’s movements. It wasn’t moving, just looking defeated.
Clint was doing research measures for this case, Jason watched the scanners. His eyes stayed on the blonde, wishing he heard his name earlier when he was scouting the town, but he didn’t. Darcy nor Jane Foster said his name. Jason narrowed in on the tall blonde recognizing something, trying to connect the dots.
He seems to be a strong man. Maybe we he brought to Earth due to a punishment? Did he screw up with somebody? Who made him this way? So many questions were running across his head, watching the clock.
Again, he recognized the look, the same one his nephew shared two years ago before announcing himself as Iron Man.
He’s in need of finding himself, grounding himself in humanity.
Coulson locked eyes with Jason, knowing his time was almost up. Less than 12 hours and he’ll be gone back to Miami.
“You talk to him.” Phil remarked.
“What? No.” Jason rejected the request.
“We just need his name. He said he’s a god compared to the men here.”
“Every man thinks he’s a god. I’ve been near it, he’s just bluffing.”
“Exactly why you should go! Please, i just need it and we can focus our research with the equipment we stole from Foster.”
“You stole from Dr. Foster. Not me.”
Jason grumbled underneath his breath, reminding himself he’ll be gone soon. He walked away, removing his jacket and took a long sigh, sucking his teeth before entering the room.

He entered the clear room, holding a glass of water for the man and a snack. A bag of chips he stole from the vending machines.
He sat down in the chair across from him, handing him the items.
“What’s this?” Asked the blonde, holding the glass of water and small bag.
“Water. I can promise you it’s not drugged or anything. You need it after taking out those men.” Jason explained, with a kindness in his tone.
“Why? Are you with them? Theses men. Son of Col and his soldiers.”
“Not exactly, your highness. I was just sent to scout the town and keep an eye on the people, especially after the ruckus at the moment.”
“You mean to cause me and theses humans harm then…?”
“No. I didn’t, that was Coulson’s doing. I didn’t know his intentions until now. He know he’s on a time crunch with me and he just ask one thing of you.”
“And what is that?”
Thor stayed silent, looking down after asking that question. He leaned against his chair, inching forward to drink the water and bag of the chips he was given. He was hungry and very much appreciated the small offering. He watched the man, sitting in front of him. He held such kindness, honesty and plenty of gruff to himself. As if he had a lot of trouble in his mind.
“Who are you?” Thor asked him, sipping his glass.
“Why would you like to know? He asked, rather intrigued by his eyes.
“You offered to show me a far cry of kindness.”
“Because, if you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people…”
Thor was honestly taking back by his words. Those were powerful enough just to be written in stone. He wondered if this man was playing a role or actually meant every word in that sentence. As if he lived plenty of lives, such as himself. A part of him choose to highly respect it.
“What’s your game, mortal?” He asked, leaning forward in his chair.
“No, no game your highness. You have your secrets and so do i. And i can tell you don’t want to be here.” Jason told him honestly, “I’ll just like to know your name. Please?”
“..I’m Thor. Son Of Odin.”
“Your a god..?”
“Yes. What do you mean by the question?”
“A man of your status must’ve been sent here for a reason, my lord.”
“I was casted out of my home for being a ruckus and disobeying my orders…but i can assure you, I didn’t mean to cause you harm..”
“I can tell. Thor, i don’t know how long you’ve been here on Earth but what I’m about to say might ease your thoughts.”
“Hm?”
“You were sent here to learn a lesson. I can only imagine what it might be, however that’s for you figure out.”
“A lesson?”
“There’s always trials and errors to overcome. And I believe you might have to learn something from being among us humans..”
The god of thunder stayed silent simply nodded, listening to him as his mind ran with billions of thoughts. Jason stood up from his chair thanking him for that small information and he’ll request for Thor to be released soon enough.
He was about to leave the room when the god of thunder stop him.
“What’s your name?” He asked, his blue eyes pooling and twirling in curiosity.
He looked over his shoulder with a simple half smile, “Jason Underwood, your majesty.”
With that last comment he left, telling Clint what he found from his conversation with the blonde. It wasn’t much, he wasn’t going to tell Barton about what exactly happened in that room. Keeping that information private until further notice. He only said that his name was ‘Thor’ and that he’s a god.
Clint nodded taking note of what was said to tell Coulson later. Jason nodded, snatching up his keys. His work here was done. He hoped.
He took the first chance he got, returning back to his motel to pack his things and head back home.
The man was driving to Miami turning back the radio, when he received a call from James Rhodes. Rhodey was telling him what recently happened with Tony, the fight with Pepper, the issue with his suits and whatnot. Along with the fact that Tony decided to take off in his suit and sat on a giant freaking donut. It was a rather long list.
“He did what?!”
Was all Jason yelled out the phone, as he reached a red light.
As if he week couldn’t get any weirder…

You are left undisturbed for near a day after the news arrives. You should be grateful for the reprieve but you cannot find respite among your unease.
Edith is gone, your world is splintered, yet this marriage must proceed. Not for your own sake, but for your family's. You expect your father wouldn't be content to have you return to his household. The only benefit to your sister's tragedy is that he was able to rid himself of you.
Doreen informs you that you are to ready for another lunch. You choose a gown of faded peach and a bonnet with a narrow rim and white ribbon. She helps you dress before leaving to look in on your mother.
You look in the mirror and wonder if maybe you were prettier your voice wouldn't matter so much. You pin the brooch with the blue bird just below your neckline. You pretend Edith is there with you, talking you through this. I believe in you, sissy, remember when you stole my cap back from that angry hog?
You wait to be called. You hate to presume or wait around where others might be disturbed by your presence. It isn't Doreen who comes but another servant, a broad steely-haired woman. She bids you out and you follow meekly, gaze straying to the golden frames and painted canvas.
The meal is hosted in the dining hall. A long ebony table with matching chairs. Each seat is upholstered with emerald velvet and capped with curlicued posts. You are shown to yours by Parson to the one reserved for you.
Your mother sits with her tears hidden behind her fan, not so much as looking in your direction. Doreen stands at her shoulder and offers a handkerchief. You can only hear the reprimand she would issue should you be blubbering so.
You rise as the duke enters, but not alone. Your mother leans heavily on the way, gathering herself with several flaps of her fan. She snaps it shut and tucks it away as she raises her chin, shooing away Doreen.
“Lady Thea,” Laufeyson begins before addressing you, “my parents, the Grand Duke Odin and the Grand Duchess, Frigga.”
He steps aside as an older couple stand regally in the archway. The man is burly but stout, with dark grey hair streaked with white. His jaw is set squarely and there is a familiar blue tint to his eyes. The woman is tall and blond and fair, her figure untouched by her age and her hair so golden that the grey strands only seem to make her shine.
You recognise them. The portraits in the main hall. Even with some decades since the artist’s work, they are beyond compare to their pigmented likenesses. They are as elegant and resplendent as their son. It sinks a rotten pit in your chest. Perhaps, they might not want you either.
“We’re acquainted, Thea and I,” Frigga declares, “I believe your father might recall her.”
“Yes, Lady Thea,” he bows, “I know your husband better, I’m afraid.”
The duke has a pinched look to his lip as he listens with his chin high. He moves stiffly, gesturing to the table, “mm, yes, let us be seated–”
“Loki,” Frigga says as she slowly wades forward, her skirts rippling like water, “what about your brother? He received an invitation, didn’t he?”
“Mother, certainly he did, but he is ever… unpredictable,” Loki offers. It is jarring to think of him as anything but the duke. To think he is anything but the master of Jade Park.
“Lady Jane is with child,” Frigga counters, “it might take them some time.”
“Lady Frigga, Lord Odin,” your mother begins, “I cannot remark upon your son’s hospitality enough. He’s been a wonderful host, especially…” she pauses and turns her head, touching her cheek with a gloved hand.
“Oh, we were distraught to hear of Lady Edith. Such a tragedy. So young and beautiful.”
You stare at the wall. You try not to think of the statement laced between her words. You are young too but not so beautiful.
“And your younger daughter is endearing, that is a rather charming brooch,” she turns her green irises on you.
“Thank you, Lady Fwigga,” you hold your head high as you cling to a thread of dignity.
Her cheeks bulb and there is a slight tremor in her chin before she can answer, “oh, that is a peculiar accent, dear.”
You don’t know if you should thank her. You can’t tell if she holds any derision but you’d prefer she not mention it. It’s obvious, it needn’t be emphasized.
Your eyes skitter over to Odin who watches you with quiet consideration. He does not hold the same disapproval as your father but you can’t read much in his face.
“She is all I have left,” your mother bemoans, “two daughters. That’s all I got. How I wanted to give my husband his heir but… it was not to be and now…”
“Oh, Thea,” Frigga drawls, “if you are to fraught to remain–”
“No, no,” your mother expands her fan and pushes air into her face, dabbing her tears with her knuckle, “no, I’m so happy for our families to come together.”
“As are we. It is only sensible–”
She is interrupted by some furor at the other end of the house. A smile curls her lips as a booming voice fills the corridor like thunder. As your eyes drift towards the doorway, they meet Loki’s. He looks at you with a furrow between his brows before he shifts his gaze towards the clamour.
The men rise first. You get to your feet as Parson rushes in to announce the new arrival. As he introduces Lord Thor and Lady Jane, he is almost breathless. The couple appears behind him, the towering duke clapping the groom’s shoulder so he staggers. The duchess gives a pretty smile to the grand duchess as her hand rests on her rounding stomach.
“Oh, Jane,” Frigga sweeps across the chamber to embrace her daughter-in-law without pretense, “you are immaculate,” she pulls back and cradles her cheeks, “you look well.”
“Do I? I’ve been struck sick for days.”
“But it shall pass,” Frigga avows and beckons the duchess with her to the table, “Lady Jane, my first son’s wife.”
You bow your head and your mother does the same, taking the lead as you remain silent, “Lady Jane, a delight to… meet you. Oh, my apologies,” your mother fans herself more rapidly, “your eyes, they have the same shape as my dear Edith’s.”
“Edith?” Jane utters and looks at Frigga. The grand duchess leans over to whisper gently. “Oh, my condolences, Lady Thea, oh and such timing as this?” She turns to you, “a betrothal is supposed to be a joyous affair, I cannot bear to think how you are doing.”
You don’t know what to say, as often you find yourself lacking. Your lips tremble but you do your best to keep your composure.
“I will miss my sista vewy much,” you try to speak slow and clear, but it just sounds clumsy, “I didn’t know…” you see the flicker in her eyes, the dimple in her cheek, the judgment casting a shadow over her, “I didn’t know you and yaw husband would attend.”
Jane’s lips part and her brows rise as she looks at her mother-in-law. Frigga tries not to acknowledge the almost taunting expression. You can’t. You feel it throttling you. Just be quiet.
“How fetching,” Thor intones, surprising you as he comes to stand behind his mother and wife, chewing a biscuit he snatched from the tray.
“Fetching?” Jane scoffs.
“The way she speaks, yes? I think it is… interesting.”
“That hardly matters,” Frigga insists, “it is what one says, not how they say it.”
You clamp your lips together. You want to crumple to the floor and sob. You don’t want to be stood here like some jester to entertain these people. You want to go home and see your sister’s casket. You want to be near her, even if she’s not really there.
Again, you find Loki’s distasteful glare. His throat bobs and his lips thin even further.
“Yes, yes, let us sit and eat. My staff has worked the morning to prepare us a fine lunch,” he chides, “I’d hate to see it wasted.”
🔹
You stare at your untouched plate of cold meats and cheese. You’re not very hungry. Perhaps it is grief, or more likely it is shame. You want to shrink down to a morsel of dust and disappear.
There is an odd sort of skill acquired by those who are quiet. Observation. The ability to see so much, to take in every gesture, every twitch, every look with meaning. And you do not miss those errant gazes in your direction. Some with anticipation, others with dread, each waiting for you to say another twisted syllable.
Your mother fills the silence you refuse to break. She regales the table with the story of how she met your father on the promenade, how he trod on her skirts, and she hit him with her reticule. A tale you’ve heard anon.
She hiccups suddenly and cups her hand over her mouth. You turn to look at her as her wrinkles deepen and her gulps become sobs. She shakes her hand and waves her other. Doreen appears at her shoulder.
“My lady,” the servant says.
“Oh, Lady Thea,” Frigga dismisses the maid with a subtle flick of her fingers, “let us get you some air. It is such a lovely day, and I believe we do have some matters to attend to.” She helps your mother to her feet, hanging on to her elbow, “Lord Odin, you will accompany, in case she faints.”
Odin grunts. He hasn’t said much of anything. He seems more enamoured of this plate. As he stands, he stuffs a roll of sliced ham into his mouth. Chairs scrape as you stand to see them off. Doreen follows the older trio through the archway as they set off.
You resume your seat and watch the tablecloth. Your mother was of little assistance while present but without her, you are defenseless. Loki sips from his tea as Jane spears a slice of pear with her fork and Thor cracks a hard-boiled egg in his hand.
“So, I’ve not seen you before. You haven’t debuted?” Jane asks.
Your eyes flit up to hers. You almost don’t believe she’s talking to her. You’d been praying they’d forget you were there.
“My sista was ill and she is older so I was waiting until she went fast.”
“Fast? Went fast?” Jane repeats as she pretends to think, “went fast where?”
Loki sighs and sets his cup on the saucer with a harsh clink, “first. She meant first.”
“Oh, my, apologies, I’m afraid I have a bit of trouble understanding you. I don’t think I’ve heard any sort of affectation,” he smiles falls to something more sinister, “it is rather… garish.”
“Jane,” Thor says through a mouthful of egg, stopping himself to swallow, “she speaks clearly enough.”
“I’ve heard of physicians who can tend to that. They can teach you how to pronounce your words properly. Through repetition.” She enunciates each word, making sure to move her lips deliberately.
You fight a grimace. You swallow and look at your plate. It isn't the first time someone's made those comments, she will doubtful be the last. Just like those boys who used to call you 'widiculous' or 'wavishing'.
“Please, this doesn’t need to be a whole point of conversation,” Loki reproaches.
“I am only offering advice.”
“You are the one who spoke to her. None of us wanted to hear her.”
“Loki,” Thor says appalled, “she is to be your wife.”
“I was supposed to marry her sister. The normal one. The dead one.”
You flinch and let your shoulders slump. You bring your hands up and cover the brooch on your dress, as if holding Edith tight. Your lip pokes out as you fight a tide of grief that threatens to erupt.
“Aw, look, she is going to cry,” Jane taunts.
“Jane,” Thor’s voice hardens, “no more.”
Jane snaps her lips shut and rolls her beautiful hazel eyes. She pops the slice of sugared pear into her mouth behind her cruel smirk. Loki sneers at his fork as he twirls it in his hand. Thor gives you a glum look but it lands like a slap. He cannot relate to you, he can only pity you, and that is worse than contempt.
“If you are cuwious, Lady Jane, I have been to many physicians. They cannot help me,” you shrug, “just like they could not help my sista.”
Thor clucks and lets out a breath through his nostrils. Jane doesn’t falter, smiling as she chews, and Loki pushes himself to his feet. His chair threatens to topple as he swivels on his heel.
“I would see to our parents, make certain they are well and that this… contract is still in effect,” he takes rigid steps along the table, “I should hate to squander any more time in uncertainty.”

If you're taking prompts, I've got a jealousy prompt for you (for Lokane): “name. i love you. only you. don’t forget that”
I wasn't accepting prompts, but then I thought, I haven't written for Lokane in over year, might as well give it a try. I actually had fun. Thank you so much for the prompt!! 💙💙
Based on a WIP. This would probably take place some time after the fic would have finished, maybe. Slight angst.
...
Laughter. The clinking of goblets and excited voices travelling around the large hall. A swirl of vivid colours decorate the centre; gleaming metal armours and shining silks, comingling in a dance of celebration. There’s music too; passionate beats and arousing notes. Everyone was enjoying themselves.
All but Loki. He too was attired the same, in his ceremonial armour at Thor’s behest. But he situated himself in a lone corner, staring into the crowd with a glower. More specifically at the dancing figures of his lover and the newly crowned king.
It’s loud, boisterous. It wasn’t as annoying earlier in the evening. Now it grates at him, bit by bit. The sounds, accompanied by the tapping of shoes on the polished floor, and Jane, smiling at Thor, laughing at something he said. He thinks his teeth might break with the force he’s clenching his jaw.
The song ends, and they part, Jane disappearing in the crowd with her small stature while Thor stands there an imposing figure. Loki glares at the back of his head.
It seems silly, being jealous of such a thing. They were just dancing. But a small part of him, that he never quite managed to subdue, reminds him that they used to be together. He thought that he was over it, but sometimes he fears his fancies and fantasies would remain just that and she’d leave him.
(You’re brooding, she’d say. He’d deflect with a quip.)
“I wondered where you were. What are you doing here?” Ah, there she is.
“I was counting how many goblets of mead Thor has drunk.” He doesn’t look at her yet, though he feels her come to hover at his left side. He folds his hands behind his back, repressing the urge to touch her.
Jane hums, clearly unbelieving, but Loki is a little angered. At her, himself… the doubts festering into a tight coil of despair. Why does he spiral into this misery?
“Loki.” That tone. Knowing. It vexes him. He can’t hide anything from her; the phantom specks of Aether still interwoven in her essence. “Would you tell me what’s bothering you?”
“Nothing. I just don’t want to deal with a drunken Thor.”
She moves to stand before him and he can’t avoid looking at her anymore. “And that’s why you’re brooding here?” She says with a little grin and he sighs. She grabs his hands, prying them apart and wraps them around her waist. “Why don’t you dance with me instead of sulking?”
“I’m not sulking.”
She tilts her head closer. “So you weren’t jealous?”
“No.”
He’s looking over her shoulder, but sees her frown in his peripheral. She cups his neck, her thumbs on his jawline, making him face her properly.
“Hey, what happened?”
His lips press into a thin line. He looks at her, ready to deny, but the worry in her eyes halts him. He steels himself, even as his ears turn hot.
“You were dancing with him.” She shakes her head imperceptibly, confused. “And talking to him. And laughing. You were together once.”
“And you think I could leave you for him?”
He stays silent, unwilling to lend actual words to his doubts.
“Damn, Loki. Look at me.” He looks. There’s a subtle flame in her eyes now. One that he could never sway from. It fuels her resolve, anchoring him. “I love you. Only you. Don’t forget that.”
And he breathes. It’s like… like he just needed to hear that. To brush away baseless worries and phantom fears.
(Sometimes celestial bodies encounter other objects. But orbits remain, gravity inevitable.)
She presses herself to him, face buried against his chest. His arms tighten around her; he finally lets himself feel her. They stand like that for a moment, hidden behind the golden pillars, ignoring the celebrations, the music, everything else.
Then she slowly pulls away, the smile returning to her face. “Now will you dance with me?” She asks, already tugging at his hands, dragging him with her. He follows, suddenly excited.
He takes her hands in his, the rhythm of the current song guiding him along. Bright eyes, hair half-up, flowing emerald green skirts and a radiant smile adorning her face – she is exactly how he’d imagined she’d be on his arm. She laughs as he spins her, her dress blooming around her figure like an exuberant flower. A matching smile appears on his face. He should’ve just done this from the start.
But no matter. He has all night with her.

kinda wanna write a fosterson fic where things were a little more serious between Thor and Jane in the first movie, so as soon as Asgard recovers the Tesseract and fixes the Bifrost, Thor goes to find Jane. he shows up at her apartment (Jane and Darcy totally have an apartment by now) and she answers the door and he gives her. like. the hug of all hugs. and Jane's thrilled except also she's like shit shit shit and it takes Thor a hot minute to realize that she seems a little anxious and right as he's about to ask why, Darcy comes out with a crying baby in her arms and she's halfway through complaining that the baby won't shut up when she sees Thor in the doorway and she's like O_O and Thor's just staring at the baby like O_O and now Jane's like O_O and that's how Thor finds out that he's a dad now

CHAPTER 21: “The Prince of Rescue”
Tumblr media
A/N: Here's chapter 21 of my story. Please Like, Repost or comment.
Tony.
Two months have passed since Ransom was taken. We had no idea where she was or if she was still alive. My eyes were burning from staring at my computer screen for so long. I was on my third cup of coffee. I was trying to stay awake but my body was fighting me.
Ransom's father appeared behind me. He placed his hand on my shoulder. “Son, you should rest your eyes,” he said. Ransom's father had been here ever since she disappeared. He was determined to find her. “I’ll be here to wake you when something happens. You can ask your computer ehm” he pointed to the ceiling. “Jeeves?” he said uncertain as to what name my A.I. had.
“I can’t” I sighed. I felt overwhelmed by emotions and I thought of only closing my eyes for a second. All I could see was her. I missed her and I couldn’t fathom seeing her. I couldn’t stand the idea of her being in pain and me not being able to do anything about it.
“Please, sleep. You’re of no use to her when you’re going crazy because of sleep deprivation” he pleaded. I sighed as I sobbed. Ahmed had a sorry look on his face as he sighed and placed a hand on my shoulder. “We will find her” He reassured me, patting the back of my head slowly. “She’s still alive, I can feel it,” he said. “I’ve felt it for centuries” I looked up at him. His eyes were hopeful as he grabbed my shoulder tightly. I nodded believingly, trying to keep the hope.
Ahmed sat down at the office chair next to me as he took my cup of coffee away from me. “Sleep” he ordered, reminding me of my father. But again wasn’t so patient with me. I laid my head down on my desk. It wasn’t the best position for me to sleep in. But I was too tired to care. I drifted off into a deep sleep.
It was merely a few hours later when someone woke me up abruptly. I sat upright and wiped my face confused. “What’s going on?” I looked up at Ahmed who was looking at the computer screens trying to figure something out as they were beeping uncontrollably.
“The alarms you set months ago finally went off. A high temperature has been spotted right at the edge of the city” Ahmed said, his voice chirpy. I immediately felt awake and sat upright.
“Are you sure it’s her?” I asked, skeptical Ahmed nodded Yes.
“Look at the reading, not even a building on fire burns at this high of a temperature” The thermometer spiked red at the levels it was picking up. Hope was swelling in my chest. I think we might’ve found her.
“J.A.R.V.I.S. pinpoint the exact location for me” I commanded.
“Yes sir” he answered as I ran to get my suit. No one was going to stop me now from bringing her back home. She has suffered long enough.
It wasn’t long before we touched down at the edge of town. A vacant lot that used to belong to the Roxxon Energy Corporation. As we were about to storm into the building, Thor touched down.
Both Ahmed and I stopped in our tracks as the ground shook on Thors’ Impact. A Bright light touched down with him as he came down but disappeared as soon as he landed.
He turned and we locked eyes as I cocked my head to the side. “We have to get her out of there,” he said, his voice deep and his accent thick.
Tumblr media
The building was starting to collapse as a circle of white and orange light engulfed it. People were running out in fear, screaming their lungs out. She was definitely in there. “It’s now or never,” Ahmed said. His suit appeared on his body like it was eating him. I used it as Nano-technology.
“Well, Let’s go then” The face of my helmet fell as my suit booted up. J.A.R.V.I.S. pinpointed where the energy surge came from. We burst into the building, trying to avoid falling on us.
“Mr. Stark the building's integrity is failing” J.A.R.V.I.S. stated. I rolled my eyes as I flew up the second floor of the building. All three of us touched down in the room where Ransom was being held. The floor was shaking and we all had trouble holding our balance.
Ransom's eyes were a bright light, fully covering her beautiful brown ones. Her body was convulsing, It looked like she was in pain. I took my helmet off, truly worried for her. There was some electromagnetic field surrounding her, that protected her from the debris falling. “What do we do?” I yelled. “I can’t get through” Ahmed looked at me and nodded.
“I can” his hands turned into a fiery bright orange. I put his hands through the barrier with ease, breaking it. Ransoms’ eyes closed. Her body stopped convulsing as she fell out of the thing that was holding her. I was so shocked about what was happening, that I couldn’t move.
Thor leaped forward and caught her before she fell. He scooped her up and walked out of the building with her in his arms. It felt like my body was frozen, I couldn’t believe it was her. I’ve missed her for so long and I couldn’t even move my body.
“Stark! We have to go” Ahmed yelled, pulling me out of my fear-induced slump. I shook my head and flew out of the building, as the building finally collapsed. All of us watched everything fall into dust. Ahmed, placed his hand on my shoulder, Thor was holding Ransom tight. Now that I took a good look at her, her body was fully covered with blisters and burn scars. Her body was shaking like she was cold.
What the hell did they do to her?

💙 and anything other than the NoTP. ;P
Here's some Lokane for you, my friend. <3
Modern/Non-Magical AU, Rated T (Also on AO3)
Prompt list
FUN SURPRISES
"Listen, listen," Jane said, her words a tad elastic at the edges. "I don't like you." She poked a finger into Loki's shoulder to punctuate her statement as he escorted her into the lift.
He was tempted to capture her hand and... And what? He wasn't certain he wanted to finish the thought. When it came to the little she-devil of astrophysics, his feelings were, at best, complicated. At worst, well... He wasn't going to finish that thought either.
"I'm serious," she kept nattering on as they ascended. "Sometimes when you talk about dark energy, I want to kick you in the face."
That drew an involuntary laugh from him. Oh, he knew. He spouted the most inane shit all the time just to get a rise out of her, especially during conferences like this weekend's. The way her nose would scrunch, cheeks turning bright red, lips curled in a snarl—so gratifying, that.
The elevator dinged, doors sliding open.
"I'd very much like to see you try, Foster," he said, grasping her elbow when she started to wander off in the wrong direction. "Though I'm not sure your legs are long enough to reach all the way up here."
She growled and it was unreasonably endearing. Like a snapping Pomeranian. "That's what I'm talking about. You're so...so arrogant!" She tried to shove him but stumbled back on her heels instead.
He caught her by the waist before she fell over—it wouldn't do to have that pretty silver cocktail dress ruined—and steadied her against him. She put her palms on his chest, eyebrows pinching together in consternation. Her fingers tensed and then slid upward and out. Then in and down.
She made a disgusted noise. "You're such a jerk," she complained. "Why do you get to be a supernova?"
He stared at her. "A what?"
Her hands roved over his torso again, less tentative this time. "It's stupid how hot you are."
His mouth stretched in a wide grin. Wasn't this a fascinating turn of events? He was going to milk that crucial bit of data for a very, very long time.
"Stupid dimples." She lurched forward, gripped his shirt and tie to stay upright.
He sighed. Merciless teasing would have to wait until she was sober. He took her hands in his—so dainty for all that steel she had—and encouraged her to let go, to continue on toward her room. When she teetered again, he bent over, lifting her into his arms. She squeaked in surprise, but then rested her head in the crook of his neck, fingers curling in his hair.
Don't get any ideas, Foster, he almost said as the usual part of their heated banter but thought better of it. He did want her to get ideas. He liked these ideas in particular. A whole new game for them to play.
"He said the spark was gone," Jane mumbled into his collar. "Came all the way to New Orleans to tell me that. He went to the French Quarter without me."
Ah, yes. That boring doctor she'd been dating for half a year. "Bastard." So this was the reason he'd found her in the hotel bar, giving a drunken lecture on Hawking radiation to the nearest patrons. The bartender shot Loki a grateful look when he convinced her to leave.
"Right?" she said. "You're an asshole, but even you wouldn't go to the French Quarter without me."
"Never." He set her down by her door. She swayed on her feet, and he gently pressed her into the wall with a hand on her bare shoulder. "Key card?"
"S'in my pocket. 'Cause this dress has pockets!" She clumsily patted at her hips until she found one, shoved her hand in, and pulled out the black rectangle of plastic with a triumphant smile. "Ta-da!" She giggled at her own joke with a fetching little snort.
"Clearly you missed your calling as a world-renowned magician." He took the card, unlocked her door, and gestured for her to go in.
She looked up him with large, glossy eyes, mouth drawn in a fake pout. "You're not going to carry me over the threshold? Wimp."
He smirked before slinging her over his shoulder. She squealed and pommeled his back halfheartedly. He kicked the door closed, switched on the lights. The place looked like her suitcase exploded. Clothes were strewn in haphazard piles on the back of the overstuffed chair, on one side of the bed, on the desk beneath a stack of papers and a partially closed laptop.
"Put me down," she demanded to his shoulder blades.
"As the lady commands." He flipped her onto the mattress and she...laughed? Not the lovely scowl he expected, but—yes, this would do.
She propped herself up on her elbows, face practically glowing with delight. "See? I sparkle."
"Oh, yes." On that, they agreed completely. "Like the stars."
"Like goddamn Sirius."
He nodded. "Even more than that."
"Don't do that!" She slid off the bed suddenly with a frown and kicked off her heels before giving him another futile push. "You can't be hot and nice."
He huffed a quiet laugh. "Why ever not?"
"Because..." she sputtered. "Because."
Adorable. He canted a brow. "Always so eloquent, Foster."
She sagged in relief. "Thank god. You're still you," she said. "I almost had to like you."
"Heaven forbid," he replied with feigned sincerity. This was quite possibly the most fun he'd had at any conference. He'd have to challenge her to a drinking game at the next one—if only to see what other secrets he could pluck from her loosened tongue.
She searched his face as though deciding something. "Come here." When he didn't immediately obey, she glowered. "Come. Here."
Why not? Whatever she wanted would likely provide more fodder to use against her later.
He leaned down, and as soon as he was within reach, she grabbed his shoulders, yanking him all the way to her—where she unceremoniously planted her mouth on his. His surprise hastily gave way to softness of her lips, to her fingers gliding up his neck to scrape through his hair. He braced himself against the bed to keep from falling into her, cinched his other arm around her waist, tugged her into him, and how she moaned. That sound. He would sell his soul to hear more of it, to have her petite body pressed against his indefinitely.
But no. Not this way.
Grudgingly, he broke off the kiss, relaxed his hold on her—though he couldn't bring himself to let go entirely. Not yet.
She tipped her head back with an exasperated sigh. "Dammit," she muttered. "Darcy was right. Sometimes you just have to kiss the bad boy to feel alive."
Loki liked that silly assistant of hers infinitely more now.
Jane pushed at him again, and this time he relented, taking a step backward. "Shoo!" she said, waving her hands. "I have to go to bed now."
He should leave—especially when she grasped at the side of her dress and wrestled with the zipper. But it was terribly entertaining to watch her get out of the thing with the grace of an amateur contortionist. To say nothing of the nude matched set she wore underneath. Oh, and the flash of ink he caught just above her hip. Look at that. Jane Foster had a wild side after all. She flung the dress across the room and crawled onto the mattress, wrenching the duvet over herself as she mumbled something about holographic entanglement.
This woman. He shut off the light.
Back in his room—three doors down—he took in his disheveled state with a grin. His mussed hair, the lipstick smeared at the corner of his mouth, the stain on the collar of his shirt. He took a selfie and sent it for her to wake up to in the morning.
Thanks for the memorable evening, Foster. I'm quite fond of the Einstein-Rosen bridge tattoo.
Because she wasn't wrong about him. He was an asshole.
(Who would take her to the French Quarter tomorrow night.)
