April Showers Bring May Flowers: Afternoon Showers
Orange, green, and brown are colours I tend to associate with autumn more than spring so I wasn't sure if they'd work well for this project. It came out better than I expected though :)
I tried to focus on triangular shapes in these drawings. There were times when I wanted to add more details but tried to restrain myself from making it look too busy.
Trying something a bit different. I wanted to go for a more simplified illustration style this time. I've been using blue and yellow a lot recently. What colours do you associate with rain?
I used the original animation as a reference for the timing and posing specifically the last sequence (Paldea) done by alpha@ @Ankoanankoko over on X/Twitter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf7EZR7tMKU
It's about 94 frames in total but I only drew about 20 unique frames and copied and flipped them.
The animation could have been smoother if I added more inbetween frames, but I'm satisfied with how it came out.
I orignally wanted to give them cute nautical/sailor themed outfits, but decided to go with a more simplified design just to have a more manageable workload. I was able to reuse the background from my Munchlax loading screen animation.
I love finding ways to streamline the animation process :)
I made this based on the Pokédance animation created for Pokemon Day in February. wanted to finish this project last month, but the animation process took a long time (even with amazing references).
