it fucks me up so much just how much ruby loves her sister. like i know the fndm tends to talk a lot about how much yang loves ruby but dude. dude. yang is EVERYTHING to ruby. she's the one who was always there for her. she was always there to support her dream of being a huntress, to read her bedtime stories, to put bandaids on her scraped knees, to wipe her tears away and to be a shoulder to cry on. she looks up to her and counts on her. but once yang lost her arm and fell into a depression, you know just how much it hurt her to have yang push her away. and you also know that she tried so hard to be there for yang the same way that she was always there for her. and despite anything that yang might've said to her, ruby never once held it against her. she loves her sister

My friend didn’t watch RWBY and I wanted to talk about volume 9…. So with her permission I spoiled it for her. I just had to share it with the world 😂

Let me hurry and give you the lore of the world real quick: This story takes place on a world called Remnant. It is over come with these creatures called Grimm. They are attracted to negative emotions and kill anything in their sight, basically the bad creatures. Because these creatures emerge, humans and fanus (half humans half animals) have created schools for that train kids to make them be Huntsmen and Huntresses, normalizing it as an everyday job. Oh and fanus are treated like lesser people... that is super important for the story.

Meet Ruby Rose from volume 1: She is a happy go lucky girl that has grown up wanting to be a hero from the books her mom read to her. She was able to get into her dream school two years earlier than normal, making her dream of being a huntress one step closer. She is the leader of team RWBY and absolutely loves to goof off. Basically she is the definition of a ball of sunshine aka my comfort character since eighth grade. She is also Weiss’s partner.

Meet Yang Xio Long from volume 1: Yang is a reckless girl that loves the thrill of hunting. She is also Ruby's older half sister, she has a very lackluster personality. Also major anger issues which activate her semblance (which I'll explain later) main cause of anger is when someone messes with her hair. She is a very caring friend and absolutely will do anything for her sister. She is a part of the team that her sister leads RWBY and is also Blake's partner (school wise)

Meet Blake Belladonna from volume 1 (aka the character I think you would like the most): Blake is very reserved and introverted. She would rather ignore humanity for her books. She wanted to be a huntress to right her wrongs of her past of being a member of the White Fang (a terrorist group that wanted equal rights for the fanus). Oh and Blake is a fanus with cat ears! She is a part of team RWBY and is Yangs partner.

Meet Weiss Schnee from volume 1: Weiss is the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company (dust is a powerful substance that gives the city electricity and a weapon huntsmen can use against Grimm). She is a very snobbish girl that has the nickname of 'Ice Queen'. She absolutely despises the fact that she is not the leader of Team RWBY and hates Ruby for being the leader and a child. She wants to be a huntress to uphold the Schnee name, which is a very powerful name in Atlas (basically the most powerful place in Remnat). Yes she has daddy issues.

So basically throughout the whole show team RWBY is up against the creator of the Grimm named Salem (yes she is super hot and it is so unfair that she is hot because I hate her but I love her)... but that's not the part that I want to ramble about...: I want to talk about VOLUME FREAKING 9

This is Salem

• Ruby’s girlfriend (Penny) dies (said girlfriend isn’t girlfriend but they so loved each other… also Penny is a robot that is also human)

That’s Penny

• Ruby kills minor villain in-front of his girlfriend (who is also hot)

• Yang loses her arm cause Blake’s ex is bitter about Blake breaking up with him 🙄

• Team RWBY’s school falls and one of their good friends dies in the battle (Ruby discovers that her silver eyes have powers that can turn the Grimm into stone)

• Team RWBY splits up and have self journeys after the traumatic event of Beacon’s fall

• They regroup as a team and set off to Atlas for important stuff

• Yang and Blake kill Blake’s ex boyfriend

• When reaching Atlas they discovered that Penny is alive Yay!!!

• War stuff happens with Salem and Penny dies again… the. Is brought back as a human

• Minor villain’s girlfriend (Neo) exacts revenge and fights Ruby in a weird dimension

This is Neo

• Two minutes after Ruby’s best friend kills Penny for real

• Then team RWBY is sent into a portal that sends them into a story book that resembles

• Oh and Neo is sent into portal as well

So basically volume 9 is about how Ruby falls down the rabbit hole of depression. Which made me realize why she is my comfort character. Anywho, as she is dealing with all these emotions: pressure of leadership, watching Penny die, losing Atlas (oh yeah the city was in a sky and it fell), having Neo come back to exact revenge, being the one that everyone relied on, blaming herself for every one that died in the war, ect; all her teammates were finally being able to feel their emotions and be happy. Yang and Blake have their first kiss and confess their feelings, Weiss being free of her fathers control. Stuff like that, and as they are trying to find a way to get out of that world to theirs, everything reminds Ruby of her failures and Penny.

It doesn't help this the curious cat, that keeps pushing Ruby down farther and farther into her emotions. Ruby isn't feeling worthy of being a huntress anymore (she also lost her weapon and everyone is trying to find it).

Anywho when they find her scythe everyone but Ruby was happy that they found her weapon. Ruby just saw it as the object of everything that's wrong with her. So I haven't mentioned a character cause I don't care about him, but basically he and Ruby get in a huge fight (I'll put down a link cause it is REALLY good and I can't explain why it is good ). When Ruby runs off Neo kidnapped her: I'm going to put a link of what happens cause no words can explain how this all goes down. You must watch the videos before continuing because they are super important... text me once you finish them so I know when to send the rest.

Anywho after that team RWBY finds Ruby on the floor with Neo next to her holding poison and watches as Ruby drinks it willingly ... having Ruby die by suicide... yes I did cry so much when I watched that. Then Curious Cat takes over Neo and the team fights them. Meanwhile Ruby is on a self discovering journey and finds herself. She comes back to life and defeats the Curious Cat. And everyone went home.... ending volume 9 with volume 10 coming out sometime.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love White Rose. Their dynamic of rivals to partners is just so cute and all.

But I really love the chemistry between Ruby and Penny! They are just always so comfortable with each other and just plain old adorable! I first started out with it being a minor ship in my brain, but when Volume 9 showed Ruby’s reaction to Penny’s I couldn’t help it; they just took over my heart. I’m so sad that we won’t be able to see any more of their dynamic, but at the same time it was so refreshing to watch Ruby morn Penny. It just shows us how much Penny really means to Ruby, and it made me cry when I realized that Ruby never got to say goodbye. She went through so much just to have Penny stay by her side, only for all that effort gone when Penny died not much later.

I can’t imagine the pain that Ruby had when she heard the news. Imagine being able to save your friend that you lost once, hoping not to lose them again, only for you to lose them immediately. Permanently. And right after the news, everyone around her acts like nothing has happened. They just started to make jokes and act all happy, ignoring how the news affected Ruby. I mean she literally passed out when she got the news, and team RWBY didn’t think that it was a clear sign of emotional distress!

I don’t blame Ruby one bit for going off on everyone when she did, in fact I’m surprised that she didn’t say anything earlier with all the crap that she was going through!

Now I absolutely love team RWBY with all my heart, they are all dorks and deserve all the happiness in the world. But I just can’t help but feel bitter about how they went about Ruby’s mental health.

Anywho somehow my rant about how much I love Ruby and Penny turned into a bitter rant about team RWBY….

Just wanted to say that I love those two!!!
