dialogue. I love dialogue so much. description just doesn't come as naturally so I like it less dkdhsjjds tho it is still very fun, especially when it's the main focus of the story with very little dialogue. mmm. tasty

yes, i’m back...for now. i’m not sure for how long. as i’m too busy these days, but i wanted to specifically make this post because it’s been bothering me for a while now. someone mentioned this in the woosan tag as well, but it’s...

non-atiny’s(and some anti-shipping atiny) who constantly feel the need to expose woosan as some cleverly put together ship that was carefully manufactured by the company. i’ve seen so many titles on youtube and posts on twitter saying how:

“woosan is obvious fanservice” and “woosan; a prime example of queerbating in kpop” 

i’ve never seen a ship be so criticized for being ‘out there’ and ‘in your face’. i’ve made a post on fanservice before but this post will mainly be focused on why i think it’s completely unfair, dishonest, homophobic, and antagonistic to view their relationship as manufactured and fake. and before you go, ‘i’m sure they’re good friends but all that other stuff is clearly done by the company.’ and don’t get me wrong, bc kq is very much aware of the ships and do try to profit off of fanservice...like every other company. but the clearest indicator of this not being MOSTLY all fanservice is something i’ve mentioned many times before.

1. the rest of the ships in ateez not being anywhere near the intimacy and skinship as woosan.

2. body language. 

3. the members THEMSELVES explaining their dynamics.

4. kq not FORCING ships.

ever since predebut and debut there’s ALWAYS been three main ships in ateez. seongjoong, yungi, and ofc woosan. 

as you could see, woosan was definitely thee most popular ship. however, i do believe their popularity grew over time because during the early era i’m sure seongjoong dominated, even on fanfic sites they dominate the amount of fanfics written about them. however, woosan’s clear comfort and intimacy with each other made them more popular among atiny’s and even non atiny’s they even had some taekookers saying their ship was realer and that’s saying something xD. 

something people really, no i mean REALLY need to understand is...doing fanservice does not invalidate an entire relationship. 

there are plenty of celeb couples who enjoy publicly dating and showing affection. 

then comes the argument of well, “if they were real they wouldn’t be so obvious about it.”

this statement bothers me because, people who believe that showing too much skinship is fanservice but then they’ll turn around and say at the same time it’s just culture???

it’s fair to see them doing their fake love dance routine and going THAT’S FANSERVICE. but looking at those moments and going ‘nah, their entire friendship gotta be fanservice.’ is delusional to me, as u like to call us shippers. 

even if you do not ship them romantically, it’s odd to me that people see two same-sex idols expressing comfortability, intimacy and skinship together and feel like if they’re too open about it or if it looks too gay then it’s....fake? even tho fans love to say it’s just apart of their culture. but if it gets too gay, then it’s fanservice. 

i can’t. xD

just because they’re completely comfortable with being intimate doesn’t mean they’re being forced to act that way...it literally just means they ARE that way. 

i constantly put emphasis on being comfortable with skinship and intimacy bc, to me that’s just not something the company can force. body language is a reaction from your true emotions and your inner most thoughts. IT IS THE FOUNDATION TO FIGURING OUT WHAT A PERSON TRULY FEELS INSIDE AS THEIR EMOTIONS WILL ALWAYS TRANSLATE THROUGH THEIR BODY. if u are uncomfortable it will be revealed through body language. and i know a ton of seongjoong shippers are gonna hate me for this, but they are a prime example of this. trust me i’m not here to start a ship war, i am purely just using them as an example of discomfort in body language. 

body language is something a company cannot control.

seongjoong show definite signs of being uncomfortable with intimacy, heck shippers use that one moment seonghwa expressed sadness bc hj hugged the other members and not him as a shipping moment lol. but even when they do hug it looks uncomfortable. my guess is bc hj is not good at expressing his feelings and isn’t a touchy person. and even tho seonghwa is comfortable with skinship, it’s understandable that it can become uncomfortable for him bc of the things i mentioned before as well as the power dynamics and age difference between them.

and here i am going to be stoned bc, i have more to say about seongjoong(don’t kill me). 

bc something the company also can’t control is what OR who the members hang out with OUTSIDE of group activities. so that’s why i’m also mentioning that i also don’t think seongjoong is as close as shippers think they are as...seonghwa mostly hangs out with woosan. and it is almost always mentioned how often woosan hang out together off camera. even early on. woosan hung out so much that it literally came to a point where yeosang felt like his bestfriend was taken from him. 

can we mention again how happy that makes san? and let’s not forget the moment woo said seonghwa was into him, but san was like. ‘you’re into me tho’ and they BOTH tried to gloss over that.

lol. people love to say how much san’s whipped for woo, but woo’s probably even more whipped.

i-i’m sorry, but does moment remind y’all of a past moment? LMFAO. seonghwa’s feeling yeosang’s pain. 

seonghwa’s just like woosan says they’re tired of each other but can’t detach themselves. and here’s more evidence that the company isn’t forcing them. for those who thinks kq has some masterplan when it comes to promoting ships.

when they talk about their dynamics, jongho says he feels left out but hj exposes him and says, ‘we’ve tried to pair him with someone but he(jongho) just doesn’t do it’

so this just solidifies my statement from earlier, if the members don’t wanna promote a ship. they ain’t gonna do it. we got one or two vlives from twoho and das it. lmfao. don’t get me wrong. i’m sure jongho get along well with yunho as well as the other members, but promoting any of the other ships in ateez like woosan isn’t gonna work well. ‘cause the rest of the members don’t have the same dynamics. woosan are comfortable with skinship and being intimate with each other and the other members just are not.

another piece of evidence is the members tired reaction whenever woosan is mentioned. lmfao. 

this was so dramatic omg. but the members reactions are very telling of woosan’s relationship off screen. if woosan was just fanservice i do not believe the members would react the way they do, maybe share some knowing glances at each other like. ‘pfft, they think woosan’s real’ but their reactions are always big or very indicative of something bigger happening behind the scenes. lol. 

i’m not gonna go into too much details, bc the members reactions to woosan are an entirely different post(i got so many posts to make. xD).

Lastly Wooyoung’s Tatto. I know right? He’s very committed to fanservice guys. 

Amicus ad Aras is something that woosan made to signify their friendship, and the fact woo got a tattoo on his body of it means a lot. not to mention woo himself taking initiative to find something that represented their relationship. 

i feel like i need to reiterate that the meaning of this tattoo was to define his relationship to san specifically so it applies to san specifically. woo has many MANY friends AS WELL as bestfriends yet he got a tattoo that can only be truly applied to san and no one else. 

u can continue saying theyy’re just good friends doing fanservice, but it’s obv that woo has many good friends. so the next question u gotta answer is what separates san from the others.

i think she is a sorcerer! not like special grade, id put her at around nanami's level; that is to say, having achieved black flash but not Hugely powerful (have i thought abt her ability? no i do not have the brain power for that sorry kajhbdf). now in the au she n gojo r childhood friends—i don't rlly wanna apply that here, bc his childhood in canon is implied to be v heavily influenced by his status & his clan and i imagine her to have come from a non-sorcerer family (or perhaps one only vaguely involved with the society, like maybe one of her parents was one of those people who could see curses but not a sorcerer??? idk, trying to apply the low-ranking-noble thing here) but either way not someone who he would've known since an early age. however since they're the same age theyd be in the same grade in hs! so i like the idea of her going to the kyoto school, while hes at the tokyo one, and they meet at the goodwill event thing they do every year where he.....

you mean this??? shdbic aaa Yeah I want to write it, but i also want to write a lot of things. xD but this is def one of those things i’d love to write a short-ish one-shot about just so I can write it.

can you imagine? Virgil, young and anxious, manifesting powers of the light and dark variety, able to manipulate shadows and summon electricity with such fine precision because he’s spent so long fretting over accidentally hurting someone with it that he refused to even dare try and step into the hero scene until he was 150% certain that he’d trained his powers to disconnect from his emotions so that he’d never have an outburst that could even harmlessly shock or scare someone. He’s so in control over his powers that its to an insane degree just because he wants to make sure he cant hurt anybody on accident.

(complete ramble continued under the cut bc boy howdy this got so long it might as well be its own short one-shot)

And, he’s worked so in depth with his powers because of course he can’t just suppress them!(Suppressing electricity based powers doesn’t get rid of that energy, it just makes that constantly generating energy stay put and build, which makes it even more dangerous when it’s finally released, so suppression is a no go) So of course not only does he work extensively with learning how to control his powers, but also how to healthily use them and expend his energy safely, effectively, and skillfully as he grows into them. Might as well push your limits of learning just how much your power can do if you have to learn how to exist safely around others by controlling it, right?

So, by default, by the time Virgil is both old enough and confident enough in his powers to consentingly apply for registry to the worlds heroes association, he’s both insanely skilled with his powers, and also insanely talented(the equivalent to a child prodigy, not that many people in charge of the worlds hero association believe that, though.). The people who had been interviewing him believed the same, thinking him to be just another super teenager boasting about his skills when they couldn’t even sense his power, thinking that what little power Virgil did have was not even worth bothering to report anything substantial about the interview. That he’d oughta go try the villain’s headquarters, because at least they take in wandering powerless for henchmen all the time.

Virgil, feeling pissed but not quite enraged yet, because what teenager wouldn’t hate it to be so invalidated and demeaned at being out right dismissed as a threat, let alone considered more of an invalid for not having powers, starts to display his power. 

First it’s the main interviewer’s phone that they’d been glancing boredly at, drained suddenly of all power. Then it’s the landline of that specific room, then it’s the lamp, the computer suddenly shuts off with zero warning and nothing of it turns on. The lamp in the corner of the room goes dark, bulb by bulb, and the printer in the room dies. Virgil’s eyes are glowing violet but he hasn’t moved any more than the annoyed twitch of an eyelid. the light’s overhead turn off, leaving the lights in the hallway still on, leaving the remaining light in the room coming from the single window in the room and the open doorway. 

He reaches up a hand, and snaps once, and shadows swallow up the light over the hallway and the window, acting as a wall from the inside and out. 

Now the only light in the room is his glowing eyes.

The second interviewer is struggling to summon fire from her hands to light the room, but it doesn’t work. The energy she’s using to summon the fire is immediately sapped by Virgil’s force, there isn’t even a spark. The first interviewer can feel Virgil’s power now, it’s bright and burning. It’s like he has a core in the middle of his being like a sun’s core because its storing so much power, and the only reason they can see it now is because Virgil’s using his power. He has so much control that even on a nonphysical level it’s nearly tangible, the way that they can see his shadow powers conceal even the existence of his power, now that they know what their looking at.

In mere seconds, this kid has tipped the world on their head and put the fear of god into them, an undetected yet undeniable threat in the making. 

They watch his eyes tilt with his head, and the distinct sound of the entire building powering down is unmistakable, shouts of surprise and confusion due to the failure of the buildings many fail-safes failing to trigger. And then, with another snap, all power is restored to normal in the blink of the eye, all machines and lights are functioning perfectly, not an irregular shadow in sight, and all at once Virgil reads as a normal human teenager, not a whiff of power to be sensed. He looks pretty peeved, though.

“Maybe I will try my luck at the Dark Side then, at least they care about the people that look to be taken in. Let me know if you changed your mind, I’d love to have a do-over. With a different set of interviewers, mind you.” before he walks out of the interview room, off to blow off some steam legally and safely.

Imagine his outrage when a week later he’s served a summons to court, deeming him a “Threat to Society” and “better left in jail until the court can be convinced of his good nature” because he’s an “out of control juvenile gifted with an unprecedented amount of power that he couldn’t possibly control without strict legal supervision and interference and cannot be trusted to continue to exist as a normal citizen until the W.H.A deems it safe.”

Faced with possible lifelong inprisonment and zero control over the rest of his life because an association of supers think that they know better and that he’s some stupid teenager that was set loose on the world with means to only cause catastrophe and devastation, or freedom at the hands of some ambiguously grey moral decisions every once in a while and being treated as a normal human being even if he has to be a henchman to another super for a while? 

The decision isn’t a hard one to make.

So imagine his surprise when he’s not only accepted into the Dark Side after being respectfully asked to demonstrate the full extent of his power and his control over it, but instead of becoming a villain’s henchmen, he instead gains the full title of Villain(with another Villain(Janus) stepping in to mentor him and show him the ropes of the rules and everything), and even further: Gets his own henchmen assigned to him. 

A pair, Patton and Logan. 

Patton has a partial shapeshifting ability, but it only really lets him turn into a big frog man, making him perfect for doing any of the main heavy lifting for the team, and also perfect for protecting Logan when under attack. He’s built like a himbo and is absolutely 100% a himbo, heart of gold, super strong, buff dad bod, the whole sha-bang.

Logan has a power that is one part linked with memory, one part linked with technology. His brain can retain information like a computer databank, and he can get any misfunctioning technology to work if he can get his hands on it or a connection to it. He avoids all the quirks that interfere or damage real databanks and technology(like magnets, water, and short-circuiting) and can semi-directly connect with devices he is familiar with, without having to hold/touch/look at one.

All together, they have the beginnings of a well rounded team: the brawns, the brains, and the leader with plans and the power to make it happen. Even before finding out their reasons for coming to the dark side, Virgil becomes ride or die for them. (And honestly, they’re also pretty ride or die for him too, not even starting with the fact that they’re both like 26-27 and Virgil is an 18 year old anxious mess that had to make the decision over being the bad guy or losing any and all autonomy for the foreseeable future, which is gonna fuck up any kid and young adult’s brain. So, lowkey adopt him as a younger sibling even though he’s the boss of them and just barely taller than them.(Virgil is a tol lanky boi, and while Logan, standing at 5′9″, is but an inch shorter than Virgil at the start, Virgil still has growing room and peaks at about 6′4″ by the time hes 22. Patton at his normal height is like 5′6″, but frog man height is like 8′3″)

Oh, and they definitely make the Worlds Hero Association regret not taking Virgil’s existence kindly, Big Time.

thank you my darling @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm and @phoebe-delia for tagging me in this fun game. i am not tagging anyone because my brain is too tired after having answered all these questions, and also in a dramatic “my bloodline ends with me!” sort of way. if you read this and do this game pls tag me bc i am the nosiest person. i would like everyone to do this game.

When did you get into Drarry and why? february 22, 2021! i have the tumblr posts to prove it! i was bouncing wildly through fandoms that date back to my teenage years, and ended up in the astolat bermuda triangle, where you lose all sense of time and reality and come out with a new ship.

Which Drarry fic hooked you? i started with house proud, which i’d actually read years ago and it didn’t stick. i think by the time i got to slithering, it was pretty inevitable that i was just going to keep going. but i think it was firethesound’s fic that really hooked me! there’s just something about the way they characterize the boys that really works for me.

Top three favorite Drarry fics i mean, there’s so so many? and more every day? but ok, here’s the way i put it in my head: if i were to only have access to three drarry fics for the rest of my life which would i go with?

Why can’t you quit them? the honest truth is that i’m a very fickle hearted girl who flits from shiny thing to shiny thing. that being said, drarry has such an intense amount of incredible new fic coming out all the time. i’m being kept very occupied! and the other (more important!!) thing is what a kind and welcoming community there is in drarry fandom. i like hanging out with you.

Would you rather be friends with Harry or Draco? i’m just gonna steal joy’s answer, because it also applies to me and sent me down a self-reflection spiral: “my immediate response? draco, because i feel like we have more in common. my real response? harry, because we actually have more in common”

Who breaks your heart more often? probably draco! i think more often, down and out draco is written because narratively, he does need to be taken down a few pegs for things to work out. so it’s sad to see him in a bad place! and then with harry, he’s often written as being kind of oblivious or in denial about how miserable he is post-war, so the heartbreak and the narrative are a little out of sync? does that make sense? but also! when harry is in a bad way, there’s always a sense that things will work out for him, because he has people who love him and a society that supports him. but there’s not always that guarantee for draco.

Ideal career for Harry? For Draco? i really do love harry who’s just kind of wealthy and relaxed. he indulges in home renovation, picks up some hobbies, does charity work, and hangs out with people. is this because this is my ideal life? maybe so.

draco, i like being kind of a swot, in a smart thinky job. i really enjoy unspeakable malfoy! especially when he’s co-workers with hermione. but any job where he can be a persnickety little weirdo is good.

Harry and Draco are being sent to a desert island for a week with plenty of food and water. Each is allowed to bring three additional items (no wands). What do they bring?

Would you rather read a fic that made you laugh or one that made you cry?

cry? hmmmm. i am thinking now, and this is the opposite to my taste in tv/movies. i think it’s because even with fic that makes you cry, very often there is a soft place to land afterwards even if not in the single fic itself, then in finding another story to read (i’m in a hurt/comfort relationship with fic i guess). but in original media, there’s no guarantee of that.

Favorite authors outside of fic? my dirty secret is that i’m actually very poorly read outside of fic these days. ask again in 12-18 months. but here are a few: tamora pierce books are a comfort read from childhood that i still sometimes pull out these days. same with garth nix’s abhorsen books. i skipped a lot of first period classes in high school to read haruki murakami books on the floor of a bookstore. more recently, i’ve loved the essay collections of alexander chee and jia tolentino. (and just generally, i am obsessed with jia tolentino and her work)

oh what a question!!! tracy you picked the drama-inducing one to start with :P hehehe. BUT let’s go-- i’m sure i’ve talked about all of these things before but still.

1. the feeling that nobody cares about the people behind the blogs, only seeing them as writing machines and throwing fits when they post about things that aren’t so happy. this is a big one for me. like. guys. i’ll say it again. we’re all people here. and some of us don’t have many other options or outlets to vent in, so this is the best one for that. if you don’t like seeing someone’s ooc posts, instead of outright going to immediate blocking, how about blacklisting their ooc tag? that way you don’t have to worry about losing a partner you may otherwise like just because of their ooc posts. 

2. the amount of callouts that go on in the rpc in general. yes, some of them are legit. some of them are about legitimately harmful people that have done harmful things to others. by all means. those are fully-deserved callouts. but. y’all, i have been rping on tumblr since 2011. i have seen callouts that are valid, and i have seen some that have clearly just been done because the author didn’t like or get along with the person that they were “calling out.” guys. you are allowed to disagree with people. it is not illegal, nor does it warrant a callout. like. for fuck’s sake. please use your brain to try and work out your issues before you jump straight to “i don’t like this person let’s write a callout.”

3. this one is kind of stupid and probably only applies to me but damn where are the threads? why’s everyone like... turned into straight up ask-only blogs? i mean. i like threads. i like to be able to build relationships between muses, and it’s significantly harder to do so when ask memes seem to be the only way to interact with someone. but, again, live and let live! i know that some days i only answer asks, so i’m not entirely guiltless here!

oh yes, of course! you can’t be in the rpc for as long as i have and not end up pressured to write something at some point. luckily, it hasn’t happened here yet, but it’s happened in a previous community i wrote in quite a lot. one of these people eventually took it ooc and ended up pressuring me to do... less than savory things, and my ass caved and did them and just. no thank you. don’t let people pressure you to do things that you don’t want to do! don’t be me! lol

i got ranty here so the tldr: yeah no shit, you’re taking something i tweeted entirely out of context, i’m well aware of those facts and im not ‘pretending’ anything lmao

onto my full response:

i see you must have come from my twitter! and yeah, i’m unfortunately aware there are people who ship batcest working for dc, its super upsetting! the person who designed the current red hood outfit just posted j*ydick on their twitter today, which is horrifying to see.

like listen im not... im not gonna go out and harass people for shipping batcest. I literally do not have the energy, and I know I’m not gonna be convincing anyone of anything bc the people who chose to ship batcest have made their choice there.

but I’m always gonna advocate for like, those people TAGGING THEIR SHIT so that especially minors but also anyone else who doesn’t want to see fuckin’ incest doesn’t need to. And like, the creation of lists of what creators are making that stuff so people can block and move on? I also think that’s good. Like I don’t think people should go harass anyone over this because its just... theres no point. But letting people who don’t want to see it know who to block so they can move on? that’s a good thing.

The comments of mine I think you’re specifically talking about were about a specific but common type of fanon batcest shipper, because like... immabe real! its very clear a lot of the batfam community on here in general don’t read the comics, (like, as in many people will OPENLY ADMIT that they don’t) and thats not even an inherently bad thing, like people are allowed to interact with media how they want to! But when people get so divorced from canon by only reading fanworks or versions of characters that have been altered and their relationships altered, its easy for misconceptions about all of it to spread, and people to be shipping pairings that literally bear no resemblance to the canon versions/relations of the characters. This isn’t even exclusive to the people shipping batcest. However with the people shipping batcest like... its when those relationships in canon get blurred by just a fanon game of telephone that it becomes easier for them to justify shipping it, you know? That was the point I was trying to make on twitter (i think it was last night? this morning? i dont remember. its 1am rn time is fake)

but like, i’m sorry but in current canon Jason, Dick, Tim, and Damian all consider each other siblings (and Jason had even made a comment at one point in rhato about having four brothers, meaning he probably includes Duke too!). That is... canon. You can see multiple instances of this if you’re reading current comics. And while they have complicated relationships with Bruce, they do all consider him a father (even when Jason says he doesn’t- he literally flip flops on it depending on how he feels in a given day because of his trauma and stuff, but like there will be times only a few issues apart where he will or won’t admit Bruce is his dad). All of these characters have been adopted (or in Damian’s case obv adoption wasn’t necessary) by Bruce in canon at different times (and Cass also, but that’s only in pre new 52 as of right now)

If you are chosing to ship any of the siblings together (or any of them with bruce) you are chosing to ship incest. That is an active choice you are making, and you have to accept the consequences of that. Any judgement/backlash you face for shipping incest is something you are accepting by chosing to ship it.

And if you go “oh but they’re only adopted siblings not REAL siblings-“ you’re an asshole, because adopted siblings are real siblings. I don’t care if they didn’t grow up together, do you realize how invalidating that is towards like, real life people? The amount of people I’ve seen who are adopted themselves get insanely triggered and upset by that kind of content (not just in this fandom btw!) because it just shows people don’t see those familal bonds as being real? It’s not insignificant.

I know ‘media affects reality’ is a controvercial topic, and like obviously ‘i see this thing in media thus i will do it’ is NOT how it works, but the things you normalize/glorify in media you consume says a lot about your thoughts on the topics. Framing matters. Like obviously ‘haha i watch hannibal, gonna go eat people now-‘ is not the case. especially because that media doesn’t frame it as a good thing. That’s the thing I think people miss in these discussions a lot of the time. If you are like ‘i am going to explore how traumatizing incestual relationships could be through these characters’ with batcest? like go off! that could be interesting honestly, and that’s not glorifying it. But acting like ‘omg i just think its so romantic ❤️’ with stuff between characters who canonically are siblings... again you are accepting the judgement that may come your way by publicly doing that.

anyways, i’m well aware of how prevalent batcest is both in the comics industry and around here, i’m aware plenty of them do read comics, and you definitely missed the context in my tweets of me saying things like “a lot” “it feels like many” etc when saying batcest shippers don’t read comics. Context matters my dude ✌️ (also wanna point out, a lot of really gross people work in comics. Racist people, antisemetic people [even today there was some controversy abt that in some hulk comic i believe?] these people being in those industries is... not a good thing even if its normalized???)

But really I think its kinda funny to uh call me a ‘fool’ for something you think I’m doing because you took my words out of context. And maybe you weren’t trying to come off as smug but you absolutely do here and it just strikes me as very funny that you like... are acting like you’re smarter than me or better than me for being okay with incest being normalized in a fandom for superhero comics, a type of media that MANY KIDS READ AND PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSION ABOUT, while I’m bothered by it.

I don’t talk about this stuff much on here because again, I don’t want to fight about it, I’m not gonna go out of my way to try to change people’s minds on any of it because I know that won’t accomplish anything, I much prefer to just... ignore the content I don’t want to see, maybe warn other people especially minors who also don’t want to see it, and move on with my life. The Hargreeves siblings are dead.

Ben isn’t very aware of this at first. He’s been dead since 2006 -- he’s quite used to it, by now. What he is aware of, first, is light. Blinding white light. And Vanya, in the middle of it. He doesn’t close his eyes because he can’t feel pain, but if he could he thinks she would have made him blind. There’s light, and heat, and power, and then he closes his eyes anyway because the ceiling is collapsing around him and it’s instinctual.

When he opens them again he sees ash. Ash -- and Klaus.

He’s gotten used to Klaus, too. Klaus has a memorable sort of face; even if he didn’t, Ben has seen it every single day for almost twenty years. He doesn’t know if it’s actually been twenty years, for him. He doesn’t know how time moves for ghosts. Klaus has assured him it moves the same as it does for the living. Ben isn’t sure Klaus, stoned out of his mind, bleeding sluggishly from his arm, knew what he was talking about.

Anyway.

Klaus.

He’s wearing the coat he’s been flaunting around for the past week. His shirt is see-through, with little stars on it, like a pale imitation of the sky. Ben remembers his pants had laces on them, he’s sure they did not a minute ago, before the brightness that threatened to wipe out his very soul -- his soul is all he has left, really. His gaze drifts down anyway, to check.

Yes. Klaus’ pants have laces up the sides.

“No,” Ben says. Klaus is laying in a heap on the ground, his fingers curled like his tendons have been cut.

His lips feel numb because they always feel numb. Because Ben can’t feel at all. He takes a step. “No,” he says again, louder, surer. “No!”

Klaus looks up at him. His makeup is smudged, like it tends to be. His lips are bitten raw, like they tend to be. His hair is a mess, like it tends to be, and like it will be, always, because Klaus isn’t breathing.

Klaus is lying in a heap on the ground. Klaus is standing above his own body. Klaus is reaching for Ben like he’s hoping to touch him for the first time in years. Just when Klaus’ cold, dead, fingers brush his face, a voice from behind says, so quietly, dripping with disbelief: “Ben?”

Ben shuts his eyes and wishes desperately he could cry.

He feels a hand on his shoulder, for the first time in so, so long, but he also doesn’t feel it at all. He feels-but-doesn’t-feel someone turn him around, until they are saying, “Ben? Ben!” and he has no choice but to open his eyes and face the music.

Diego is gripping his shoulders like he is a dying man and Ben is the answer. Behind him, Luther and Allison watch them, stunned silent. Allison’s hands are pressed to her mouth. She looks like she wants to cry. 

And Vanya. Little Vanya, painted white. Her head is hung as her shoulders shake with the weight of the destruction she has so inevitably caused. (Ben would say he always knew she was destined for great things -- but he can’t, because he didn’t.) (Nobody ever said great things had to be good.)

The Hargreeves siblings are dead. Their bodies are strewn across what is left of their childhood home, smouldering and burning, and Ben is very aware of that fact.

righto anyway. so they have an emotional reunion but its also kind of bitter? id have to actually write this for it to make sense so lets skip it for now lol

John's daemon is a Ball Python named Seraphine and she acts very differently depending on who is around. With strangers she stays silent wrapped around John's shoulders and basically indifferent, with friends she's a little more talkative and will maybe slither down his arm or on the back of where he's sitting and with family she's very lively and sassy and will slither away to mingle with the other daemons. (I could go on about how that shows his comfort levels around people and all that entails for hours but I'll refrain)

Joseph's daemon is a Golden Monkey named Evelyn and she's very similar to Joseph, she doesn't follow society's silent/invisible rules and doesn't believe personal space applies to her. She'll climb all over other people and talk to anyone and everyone which unsettles many, other daemons even shy away from her when she's in the room. She's very affectionate to the project members and family naturally but like Joseph she does have that chilling calm violent nature about her. (Like okay I know a monkey isn't that scary but when she goes dead silent and just stares at you that'd be unnerving okay, I keep reimagining the plane crash with her and OOOOOO it just adds a lil Spice)

Jacob's demon is a Wolf named Dante (I KNOW SO SHOCKING LEAVE ME ALONE) and he's a silent, grumpy protector. He can go farther from Jacob than most daemons can go from their people but he'll mostly keep to his side and stalk by his heel wherever he goes. He doesn't talk unless provoked and even then it's very condescending retorts, he barely pays other daemons attention (Seraphine and Evelyn are exceptions of course) and he goes for humans if attacking. I'd like to imagine he helps in training Judges somehow, not sure though.

Faith's daemon is a Linx named Ophelia, she comes across as very aloof but can be very cunning. She doesn't say much as she's usually 'asleep' at Faiths feet or chasing after butterflies and basically just doing her own thing. Spoilers Ophelia and Faith have actually been separated, I thought it would be interesting if they had a way to use Bliss to separate Daemons and humans without the daemon simply dying. (although that is still a possible outcome and it's probably erratic) Ophelia tends to ignore humans and only talk to other Daemons.

Sharky's Daemon is a Jack Russel named Aideen and she's excitable and full of energy and her dream is to ride a bear into a fight. She's very sweet and cuddly and unsurprisingly will jump into close friends laps, she also doesn't shut up and much like Sharky she makes no sense half the time. (all Sharky's secrets and feelings getting spilled but no one notices bc Aideen talks too fast and throws in a bunch of other bullshit with it lol) Sharky and Aideen can't be that far apart for too long, they have one of the strongest bonds in Hope County bc I said so.

Hurk's Daemon is a Teacup Pig named Portia (AND I LOVE HER), she is just a tiny bundle of carefree joy with absolutely zero thoughts in her little head. Hurk usually carries her bc she's so small but sometimes you will just see her trotting behind him very fast (and getting distracted and wandering off before needing to rush back to Hurk). Like Aideen she's very cuddly but not just to close friends, she'll accidentally bump into people's legs or do it on purpose if Hurk knows them at least a little. She also really loves pie and sunflowers.

Staci's Daemon is a Stout named Leah!! (maybe you can give me an opinion on if that fits him or not, as our local Staci expert uwu) She's sassy and full of bravado and puffs her little chest out while sat atop Staci's shoulder. She will cause chaos around the office/jail, hide in filing cabinets and spook people and will constantly annoy Joey's Daemon (which is a Hyena, just putting that here bc he's not that fleshed out, he's a sweetie tho). I could go into the shift her personality goes through after what Staci has to go through but :) that's pain, so instead know she also tends to hide in Staci's shirt pocket and poke her head out.

Deputy!Dean's daemon is a lil Red Panda named Clementine and she is very playful and fiesty around most people, she likes to hide in his jackets or ride on other larger Daemon's backs. She's far more talkative than Dean himself, seemingly having a fun fact on everything and always ready to start a fight until a fight is actually presented. She's very protective of Uriel despite being half her size and it's not unusual to see her sat on Michael's shoulders.

Michael's Daemon is a Wolf and her name is Uriel, she's very calm and doesn't talk much. She stays close to Michael and is patient with other smaller Daemons that usually climb all over her. Unlike Michael she's more openly soft and honest about how she (and he) are feeling, often to Michael's dismay. Comically the only other human she's touched is Dean and usually only when she's dragging him away from danger (aka pulling him off the road by his shirt when he's not paying attention and Michael isn't close enough). (Also Alexys if u read this she would love you a whole bunch and rest her head in ur lap Often uwu)

James' Daemon is a Dire Wolf named Elizabeth and she's a giant white ball of fluff and kindness. She's a lot like James in the way she tries not to take up much space (while taking up a lot of space) and she'll curl up out of the way of everyone and basically act as a big bed for other Daemons. She's more talkative than James, often voicing concerns he would keep to himself and being more stern when it comes to keeping their friends from partaking in their dangerous ideas.

Okay so a lot of the others I'm not sure on but I did settle on Nick's Daemon being a Bald Eagle, I'm thinking Black Bear for Kim, an Owl for Grace, a Royal Spaniel for Mary May and that's about all I got owo;;
