I'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU
genre. fluff. sick fic. warnings. reader is sick (fever, headache, nausea). food mention (soup). pairing. sungchan x fem!reader. wc. 754. request. requested by anon: currently dying atm... would live for sungchan taking care of me rn :( a/n. just me continuing to write sungchan as the most boyfriend material™️ to ever exist. also i swear im gonna be finishing those event drabbles soon i'm just sidetracking skdjks help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You need to eat, baby.” Sungchan coaxed, holding up a spoonful of soup for you.
“Don‘t want it.” You mumbled in response, close to tears at just the thought of eating anything.
You had felt nauseous almost all day, accompanied with a raging headache and a rising fever. Sungchan had dropped everything to come take care of you as soon as he heard you were feeling under the weather. You appreciated that you didn’t have to be alone in your misery, but you wished that your boyfriend would yield to your suggestion of just sleeping all day instead of taking medicine and food.
“It’s good for you. Come on, Y/n, please? Don’t make me have to do the airplane.” He held the bowl a little closer to you, hoping that the smell of fresh hot soup would persuade you. It did almost the opposite.
“Eating anything right now sounds like a nightmare, Sungie. Especially this soup…” You wrinkled your nose, trying not to breathe in any more of the aroma that on a normal day would make you salivate. Being sick was the worst.
Sungchan seemed to finally give up on the soup, placing the bowl and spoon down on the bedside table and slumping back to the side of the bed. He reached out for your hand, rubbing his thumb along your knuckles. Just the small gesture made you infinitely more sleepy than you already were. You would’ve just succumbed to the tiredness if Sungchan hadn’t opened his mouth to say something.
“You have to eat later, though. Okay? I can make you something else if you really hate the soup, but your body still needs nutrients.” He frowned at how exhausted you looked, even though you had done nothing but sleep and watch shows for the past day.
“I’ll try.” You closed your eyes again, considering the conversation done for now. You weren’t sure what Sungchan would do now. He had offered to cuddle with you many times, but you had outright refused each time he brought it up. You’d feel even worse if you got him sick, so you were trying to limit your contact as much as you could.
Plus, from prior experience, you knew Sungchan had the worst cases of man colds known to the universe. Taking care of him when he was sick was listening to him whine and complain 24/7. No matter how much you loved him— even when you had to take care of him— you would always prefer healthy Sungchan.
“You must be cold sleeping by yourself.” The words came almost as a whisper, and much closer to your ear than you anticipated. You were too tired to open your eyes again, but you could feel that Sungchan had gotten on the bed with you, laying behind you to spoon you, one hand on your waist pulling you closer to him.
“Go away, I don’t want you to catch it.” You said meekly. You and Sungchan both knew you wouldn’t fight for him to leave in your state, though.
“I want to nap with you. I’ll keep you warm.” He said softly. He shifted even closer to you so that he could plant a kiss on your shoulder. You could hear him giggle slightly and feel his warm breath hit your skin.
It felt nice. Even though your body probably felt hot to the touch, you had been freezing under 2 blankets all day. Nothing quite kept you as warm as Sungchan. His bordering on giant height and broad shoulders served their purpose in keeping you embraced completely; like your own personal heater in boyfriend form.
“You’ll get sick…” You mumbled one last time when you felt Sungchan start to press more kisses to your skin. You knew it would accomplish nothing. He was as stubborn as you were, and if it came down to it, he had at least 10 times the physical strength that you did, especially when sick.
“I don’t care.” He muttered, his kisses steadily trailing up towards your forehead. He pressed a soft kiss to your temple, silently willing your headache to go away.
You were sure that there was no real way that his kisses could actually relieve the ache in your head, yet in your half-asleep state, you felt as if the pain almost completely went away the second his soft lips came in contact with your burning skin. With the comfort of Sungchan next to you, slipping away to your dreams felt easier than breathing.

hiya I wanna request some william comfort fic bc I had a bad day today but where I can find your rules? I'm currently using tumblr app, so I cannot find it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Feat; William James Moriarty x gn!reader (MTP). Genre; fluff, comfort
Prompt; ❛❛I’ll hold you tight.❞ Warnings; bad days, ugly crying/lh
Desc; IN WHICH William is always the first to pick you up on your worst days, not only is he a great crime consultant - he’s also an excellent comforter.
A/N; heyy lovely! Sorry i’m a bit late with this request, but i do hope you’re feeling better now - the reason you couldn’t find my rules is bc I haven’t made them yet. Mostly bc I’m using mobile + this blog is quite new - but I’m working on it atm ❤️ thank you and enjoy!
Tumblr media
We all have bad days.
And in all his genius, William certainly isn’t a stranger to them.
In fact, most of his days used to be plagued with storm clouds, with no sunshine or light until you stumbled into his life.
You were a gift, your very presence lifted him from the darkest depths, you were undeserved.
Back then, he had realised how angelic you were - Liam just knew that you were too good for him so he tried to scare you off by showing you his intentions, his thoughts, he trusted you with the worst of his plans.
Yet, you didn’t bat an eye. Only acknowledging each and every part of him, you saw him for who he was and began mending his heart because you love him.
It’s a WIP
William can still feel your warmth encasing him in a hug - that December night, the first time you ever saw him cry. You held him close, stroking his hair and kissed his head like a mother would. You filled that empty void in his chest.
That’s why he wants to do the same for you, Will believes he is forever in your debt.
And when you cry, are upset, have a bad day, he’ll hold you tight; just as you did him.
Also because you are literally the last person in the world that should go through any type of pain.
The corners of your lips downturned as you sat in the living room, cross legged with a cup of cold tea, your hands trembled, biting frost bite seeped into your bones and reached the depths of your soul. You felt heavy in sadness. No thoughts except crystal teardrops cascading down your frowning face.
There was no particular reason for the gloomy mood.
Today just so happened to be an off day, one where no matter what you did to escape it, you couldn’t. Your tea was near frozen over as cold, December nights bled into the estate. You were alone, shivering and crying with no one to confide in.
They’d all gone out to celebrate the closing in Christmas, maybe you should’ve joined them but it was far too late now.
What would they say if they saw you like this?
In your moment of pondering, you didn’t notice a familiar criminal mastermind standing behind you, his arms crossed and a thinking expression plastered on his face. William was confused as to why you hadn’t gone out with the rest of the organization. “(y/n)? I thought you were celebrating with the others.”
You froze in the spot, why was he here? In order to not reveal your distraught state to him, you stayed still without turning around to face him, “So did I.” Nonchalantly reaching for the cup of tea, you shivered upon the sudden coldness against your hand.
“I suppose we’re both in the same boat,” He smiled passively, realizing you were both alone together, “but I’d rather you tell me why you’re upset first.” Liam tapped two fingers on his other arm in anticipation.
A weak laugh echoed across the room, you being the source of it; even though he called your unsaid bluffs, you hadn’t flinched once, you didn’t take William an oblivious man, he was smart and easily figured you out, “I don’t know.”
After your empty chucking fit, you whispered a hoarse reply, nothing but honesty in your disappointed tone. He simply observed your manic attitude, not moving an inch, “I see.”
Staring down at your upturned hands, you felt dissatisfied, unhappy for showing yourself in this depressing light, the one part Will hadn’t seen yet. He was never supposed to see you like this, you were an utter mess today and what’s worse is that he saw it.
You felt the feeling before the sting of your hand as you slapped yourself lightly, “(y/n)-“ William jumped to action immediately, he rushed in front of you in case you dealt anymore harm to yourself. “I’m sorry you have to see me like this, I shouldn’t be crying over…something so simple.”
“Cry all you need to, although I despise seeing you distressed - it’s quite normal and let me tell you a secret-..” He lent to your face, cupping his hand near your ear to whisper something, “..-Sometimes, even I cry.” You giggled slightly at his jest, not noticing that this was his way of cheering you up.
William let a sly grin slide on his lips, “Now that’s the smile I love.” He linked your hands together, landing an intimate peck on your lips, his eyes softened at your delighted face; you were as beautiful as ever, especially when you were happy. He felt some sort of proudness at achieving this.
No one knew you like William.

Only Friends Ranking - Ep 1
Will probably never liveblog this one because I'm watching with a friend (if you read this you're the best thank you for putting up with me and my crazy lol) and so we mostly talk to each other during. :D Never done that before and I have to say it's already a blast.
So now that I am slightly more coherent and not just flailing about making high pitched sounds and flapping my hands (I believe I can fly) here's how I feel about our characters and their relationshipsI re:
Characters (Most to Least Fave atm)
Sand: As expected, I adore him. He's so tough but such a marshmallow underneath, I worry because it looks like he's signing himself up to get his heard trampled, and much as I enjoy First's tears (me and all of GMMTV I think), I just hate knowing that he's gonna be going through it, haha. Sand protector indeed. Heartbreak sucks and he's gonna feel it firsthand here. I really enjoy how irritated he is 90% of the time but I am worried that Ray of all people is gonna be his bi awakening. Please BL Jesus no. Also I hope he keeps his backbone because one thing I can't stand is a character who gets spineless the second they fall in love. Also please don't make him sing anymore I adore him but a singer he is not. He really does have the look though. Impeccable vibes.
Boston: Second fave right now, also as expected. I just love his slutty, slutty ass. Love that he mixed business with pleasure to mess around with Top again and instead he has to deal with Top setting his sights on Mew. Love that he's hooking up with everyone, no wonder Neo was like "I never have any clothes on" lol. Whether or not he cares about Top as a person, he is definitely feeling some kind of way about Top not wanting a repeat of their hookup (and Top has already told him this. Boston, babe. Either you are smitten or you are just that much of a narcissistic asshole. Could go either way really). I adore him and every ridiculous bone in his body. If they want to bring in a new dude every episode for him to go at it with I would not say nay.
Chueam: I knew she'd be high up on the list because Lookjun, but I would like April to appear please. I love how encouraging she is towards the whole TopMew thing, and girl, I feel you on the "have some fun, get laid, he's hot" thing. Lesbians next ep please
Mew: First surprise for me. I adore this guy. Adore him. He knows exactly what he's worth and he's paying attention, my guys - he clocked Top pretty fast so you can't tell me he's not fully aware of both Boston's and Ray's feelings (still loathe the idea of a RayMew endgame but mostly because the Ray of it all, lol). He's pretty and quiet and doesn't like to party like his friends so everyone assumes he's this naive dumbass (and I mean everyone - I think from Top to Ray to Boston to Chueam they all see him much the same) who doesn't know what he's about, and yet he keeps showing (not telling, this is Jojo at work and I love him for it) that he really, really isn't. Top is going down, my guys. Mew is gonna wreck this man so hard that he's not going to know which way is up and I for one am here to see it go down. If he makes out with Sand a little about it I wouldn't complain (I know, but hey. I can dream).
Nick: I admire a dude who will put a thirst pic on another dude's phone as a come on. I appreciate that he knows what he wants and he's going for it, and I anticipate he's gonna go full on crazy in a way no one expects when things start to go bad with Mr. Boston, and I am fully seated and waiting with the biggest of grins on my face.
Ray: I knew he would be awful, and I am so so happy! I can't tell you how pleased I am right now - he's awful! The way he grabbed Sand's face like he was a prize dog at a show and not a person
Tumblr media
(exhibit A)
was pitch perfect, I hate his guts (mostly affectionate). And yeah yeah deep-seated insecurities and probably daddy issues blah blah I don't care. I'm nine thousand percent positive he's only going to get worse and I am here for it. I do like that we can already see exactly how needy he is - he's going to be so needy and I fully expect him to lash out the second he feels like he's needed in return because he's so used to taking, I want to see him and Sand really go at it once Sand gets fed up with the bottomless black hole of need he clearly is (please Sand get fed up with it), especially since it's clear that the only person he's willing to give concessions to is Mew. I desperately want Sand to wreck him but well. I also highly doubt it'll happen. We'll see. I fully expect that I will hate him for real at some point (it's on my bingo card) but if anyone can drag me around to loving him in the end it's Khaotung. Hopefully there's growth in store for him, else he'll get boring very quickly.
Top: Ah, Top. SO OTT that you know he absolutely doesn't mean it. WHen he grabbed that mic I was so terrified. I can barely handle whateverthehell First was doing I can't do Force as well. Please don't put me through it I will cry. He's just...not my favorite. Yes he's a playboy and yes he's gonna say a lot of playboy things and I honestly can't wait to see Mew destroy him.
Relationships (most to least fave)
Currently, I want to know what is up with Top and Sand so badly that it is painful. I desperately want them to be bitter exes but my real guess is that Top fucked around with someone Sand cares about and he hates him good for it, while Top has no clue who Sand even is. My first guess is a relative but could just be a close friend. Sand hates him though, and I love it. I want them to angrily make out about it.
MewTop has me in a chokehold right now, completely unexpectedly. I am not a ForceBook fan - they were cute in Enchante but I had not time for ABAAB so I expected they'd be meh to me. Not so. I'm obsessed. I can't wait to see them implode and for Mew to go full crazy.
BostonNIck: Again, I just think Nick is gonna go off in a way no one expects. It's always the sweet, quiet ones (see: Mew, even though I don't actually think he's all that sweet really).
RaySand: I like their antagonistic thing but I'm really incredibly not here for Ray being Sand's first bi experience, although I think it would make sense for Sand, who is way sweeter than his tough exterior implies (compare this with Mew, who has the sweetest of exteriors but I suspect could easily cut a bitch and not even flinch), to fall head over heels for the first guy who comes along and rocks his world (and whatever else you can say about Ray - and I'm sure I at least will - I'd bet cash money he is very very good in bed). This was honestly the one I thought would have me in a chokehold in spite of myself so I'm surprised to be less invested in it than I am the other two right now. I assume once the angst really kicks in though it'll get me even though I'd rather it not, because the one thing that will always be true about me is I love angst.
Also I was today years old when I discovered that some people think that First and Khaotung have no chemistry. This bluescreened my brain for a good five seconds, lol. Send help.
In conclusion
I really liked the ep. It gave good set up and a good foundation for all the mess that we know is to come, also I lost the betting pool on who Boston was messing around with in the trailer (I hoped Ray, guessed Papang, was blindsided by Drake). I would love to chat about this with any and everyone. because I don't want to annoy my watch buddy too much and yet I am already obsessed and fear I might. I'd apologize for the person I am about to become but well, I'm not really sorry. 😊
I am also very much looking forward to the meta that is going to come out of people much smarter (and less prone to making silly jokes) than me.
Only Friends Era let's goooo!

Thai BL Favorite List
I have been tagged by @littleragondin thank you so much!
Credit to @thatgirl4815 for the original.
Favorite Thai BL:
I've watched a pretty decent number of thai bls over the years, but none have given me as much joy and laughter and butterflies as My School President :D I didn't expect it to take the top spot from A Tale of a Thousand Stars, but here we are :P
Tumblr media
Favorite Pairing:
tbh this keeps changing for me everytime I get hyperfixated on a new show, but currently, it's both mileapo and geminifourth :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most underrated actor:
I don't know nearly enough about a lot of other thai bl actors in general, I confess T-T but I'd still say Mark Pakin! he's a really really talented guy, and he needs to be in more shows, and in main roles. He's for sure gonna kill it in a rom-com type of show, in a comedic main character role. dude is naturally hilarious lmao
Tumblr media
Favorite Character:
toughest question HOW CAN YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE? UNFAIR!!!
I'm gonna pick two, because it'll be cruel to separate them, even in a tumblr ask game TT_TT
and they are : heartliming!!! my babies! my two little sunshines! I adore them both so much!! *sobs in the corner* altho I know MLC technically isn't a bl, but I'll still pick them <3
Tumblr media
 Favorite Side Character:
Tiwson from MSP XD what can I say this show and its characters got me GOOD laskgskalsfs
Favorite Scene in a BL:
oh hands down the rooftop kiss from bad buddy the series!!! :D shit makes me feral even now, literal goosebumps T-T
Tumblr media
Favorite Line in a BL:
oh I absolutely don't remember dialogs until it's something truly life altering asjhaskfsfs I'm genuinely drawing a blank here :")
Most Anticipated BL (and why):
tbh none currently. I'm not keeping up with new shows atm, so I don't really know that many upcoming shows rn
Healthiest Relationship in BL:
I'm glad we are getting so many more of these in recent bls! but my faves are (unsurprisingly) tinngun and heartliming!! it's really not an exaggeration when I say they healed my soul TT-TT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most Toxic Relationship in BL:
tbh I mostly selectively forgot the plots and characters of most of the awful bls in the past. but it'll probably be th*ntyp* skgsjfsfs
Guilty Pleasure Series:
none??? If I do end up liking something cringey and awful by popular standards, you can bet I'll still scream abt it with as much enthusiasm as any other show I liked lol :D
Most Underrated Series:
I'd say He's Coming to Me and Moonlight Chicken. both deserved so much more hype than they got. MLC deserved a longer runtime with more fleshed out storylines (but P'Aof did a stellar job, as always) and HCTM was way ahead of its time in terms of the themes and messages it tackled. Thun's coming out scene to his mom still haunts me T-T
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+BONUS
Favorite Setting/Location:
with this one, I'm the most basic b*tch ever, so I absolutely jump with joy whenever the thai bl staple emotional support BEACH SCENE comes along !!!! :D so many magical moments come out of that single beach episode, literally nothing beats this trope lol
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure everyone in the thai bl circles has already done it, but still : @solana-ceae @watchingblsnowandforever @bevioletskies @trilliastra @purple-worm and anyone else who wants to!! :)

i'm really glad that i started with pokemon at the time and age that i did. there's a lot of reasons for this but i'm thinking about two in particular atm:
i was precocious with academics as a child and constantly felt bored by stuff that was considered to be for my age range. playing pokemon leafgreen for the first time on my 5th birthday required me to read dialogue/signs/etc, do some basic number processing, and use logical thinking to get to the end in ways that other games i had tried did not, and it gave me the freedom to do so at my own pace without having a cartoon character in annoying voice ask me if i can do XYZ like most edutainment games at the time lol
pokemon was easy to pick up in terms of controls, 99% of it is moving on a grid and navigating menus, which once their UI was learned, were incredibly easy to control. there is no need to have fast reaction time or the ability to do complex controller input. so long as i was willing to engage with the rpg mechanics i felt confident as a 5 year old with some motor skill issues with navigating the game
it's interesting to me because a lot of people don't like RPGs and even if they play pokemon, they may not like the RPG aspects of them, which is fine. but for me all of the RPG mechanics of pokemon slotted perfectly into my child brain that craved Brain Stimulation and only had a history of edutainment games prior. it really showed too because as i got older i did shit like discovering that IVs/EVs existed before they were ever so much as mentioned to me, of course i didn't have the name for them but just for fun i experimented with raising two of the same pokemon species to the same level after hatching them from eggs (level 20 or something) and noticed that despite being the same species and level, they had different stats, which must have meant pokemon were genetically different from each other. i found the math-y stuff genuinely interesting before i had any context for competitive etc later in life
additionally even now i sometimes struggle with more complex controls, like i love legends arceus but i think it took me longer to figure out navigating that game than most people and games that are more difficult or require more complex inputs or better reaction time tend to be really inaccessible for me. i'm very happy to just interact with a menu, i love turn based battles and the notion that they are objectively outdated when i find them genuinely engaging is so annoying
i started thinking about this because i tried to get my mom to play let's go eevee a while back since it's a pokemon game made for beginners basically, but i did not anticipate just how difficult she would find basic navigation using the controller - catching pokemon, the main part of the game, was incredibly frustrating for her, but she could do the battles alright. with pokemon moving in an open world, 3D direction, it requires you to get used to the controller if you don't want to be falling off stuff and running into pokemon constantly. and while SV isn't particularly hard to navigate or anything, and kids are getting into tech earlier and earlier than they ever were when i was little, i still really appreciate the simplicity of control when i was younger and i think it's interesting how much other people hate the relative slowness of RPGs and value freedom of movement and action a lot to the point of considering turn based gameplay really outdated while it's still my preferred way to play video games lol

quotes from tas about will flipping into “everything is about lyra” mode as he tries to find her that are absolutely wrecking me, in anticipation for tonight’s episodes:
ch 2: “if I’m stronger, you have to obey me. Besides, I have the knife. So I can command you: help me find Lyra. I don’t care how long it takes, I’ll find her first and then I’ll go to Lord Asriel.”
“and now I know what her world feels like, I can find it with a knife…” (just a practical comment, but when I tell you I chocked and started sobbing. Also, something something will travelling through Lyra’s world and getting the feeling of what her life was like, only she’s not there to do the showing herself, as she wanted to… something something meeting the beloved through their world in their absence… something something the way how will actually paid so much attention to what Lyra was telling him about her adventures, knowing how to deal w people and Iorek in her world)
“You’re making it harder for me to reach Lyra, not easier. She’s the most important thing [no atm, just an absolute statement! + will doesn’t know anything about the prophecy], and you’re forgetting her completely. Well, I’m not.”
ch8: “Will walked on. The toil was full and mechanical, but at least he was moving, and at least every step took him closer to Lyra.”
ch11: “And there she was, his dearest friend, asleep (…) He knelt down beside her and lifted the hair away.”
ch12: “Lyra was moving and murmuring. Will bent down and squeezed her hand”
“Lyra’s voice came urgently: ‘Will? Is that Will?’
‘Lyra!’ He said, and knelt quickly beside her (…) ‘we’re in a cave. Don’t move too fast, you’ll get dizzy. Just take it carefully. Find your strength. You’ve been asleep for days and days.’ Her eyes were still and heavy, and she was racked by deep yawns, but she was desperate to be awake, and he helped her up, putting her arm over his shoulder and taking much of her weight (…) Will breathed in the scent of Lyra’s sleepy body with a happy satisfaction: she was here, she was real.”
Like how am I supposed to survive this month

Hi Axelle! Hope you are well! I wanted to ask you which shows you are currently watching, and what do you think of them?? I'm so out of the loop lately LOL
hi anon! sure, you can always see what I'm currently watching on my mdl page :) here's the shows I'm watching atm, ranked:
I feel you linger in the air: I already knew I'd love this show, and I've been enjoying every moment, but especially since ep 4. gosh, khun yai's drunken poem moment STILL has me clutching my heart while I wail around lmao. the acting is too good, the plot is original & I feel like I'm learning more about thai history, I love the charaters... I LOVE THIS SHOW!
dangerous romance: one of my most anticipated shows of the year, and it's been giving! I'm kinda losing hope on an explanation & apology on kang's bullying, but you know what? that's fine, the chemistry & cuteness of this show is enough for me so far. I CANNOT WAIT for shit to hit the fan tho, I'm here for the drama lol
love in translation: cute & silly little show! will I probably will have forgotten most of it by this time next year? absolutely. am I still eating it up, especially considering I saw the actors live irl at the gotcha pop concert? YUPPP.
don't touch my gang: bruh one thing about me is that I fucking love pluem & sing. but pluem & sing in a silly ass comedy like only thai people know how to make them??? I've loved the first two eps bro! so funny & ridiculous, a perfect palate cleanser and honestly? this show is pretty fucking original, slay!
sweet sensory: finally catching up to this, this is so fucking sweet! finally ploypach in a main role, she's eating!!! it's a really good show to make people more aware of what disabled people have to go through, and the chemistry is really fucking good! even though there won't be a kiss bc ploypach doesn't kiss, I can't wait for these two to get together seeing how much the male lead worships her <3
taikan yoho: it's a show 👍 no but more seriously, I can't formulate my thoughts on this show yet bc it's interesting yet also gives me the ick lol, but yeah it's nothing amazing either way.
minato shouji coin laundry season 2: idk why I'm watching this... well I know, bc asakusa is one of my fave side characters ever lol. but this is a mess, I can't believe they even pulled the amnesia trope, the lack of couple-like intimacy is killing me... don't bother.

Friend!!! I’d love to hear about your Tav and who your main companions are/who you romanced! 🩶🩶🩶
OUGHGH thank u very much for the ask...... I'm still kinda embarrassed to talk about him but here he is. His name is Malachy, Mal for short. he's a half-elf Rogue (Arcane Trickster). I went with Dark Urge as his origin, so his story is still shrouded in mystery at this point in the game but he's quite submissive to the Urge.
I would classify him as MAYBE Neutral Evil based on his non-Urge actions in the game so far but this is subject to change, and the needle has moved closer to Lawful at a few points in the game, depending on the person involved and the stakes at hand.
honestly.... he's a pretty terrible person with a disgusting attitude and I would probably hate him if he were real. He will kill without hesitation anyone who wrongs him and anyone he thinks as deserving. if he spares someone or rescues a soul, it's usually because he thinks it will benefit him later
I can't say much else on him bc i've just barely started Act 2, but he's been one of the most enjoyable characters i've played as in my time of RPGs. i really love roleplaying characters who are terrible people and Mal has been one of nastiest yet. he's so awful and he honestly scares me sometimes! I also kinda think he should die but at the same time i care about him..... DELICIOUS THANK YOU!!!! 🧡
Tumblr media
I'm gonna put everything else under a cut..... 😭😭 i'm so sorry......
The main companions atm are Gale, Lae'zel and Astarion. Lae'zel admires him and has almost max approval with him (I just finished Act 1). Gale likes him but they've argued a few times already in the game, yet he still maintains good approval with him somehow. better approval than Astarion actually, who approves of nearly all of Mal's heinous deeds in-game but gives a lot of disapproval when Mal is mean to him, which is almost always! So despite sharing a hankering for violence and a lust for blood i don't think Astarion likes him much, which makes him the smartest person in this party
Tumblr media
romance is kinda weird. He hooked up with Minthara after the raid, but Minthara's romance in this game is notoriously broken and i think it's going to stay broken on this save file since the "fixes" have been inconsistent for most players. So i sadly decided that would be a one-time thing for him 😭 but towards the end of Act 1 after some story developments featuring Lae'zel i realized that those two were unimaginably compatible together and so I think they're endgame. The gratitude she shows towards him, how much she respects him, how similar they are in a lot of capacities..... just really touches my soul and it feels like love to me, or at least the closest thing to love I can imagine these two characters feeling. So they slept together, at the VERY end of Act 1, and i'm waiting to see what direction that goes in. But i have a really good feeling about it honesty.....
Tumblr media
there's also the question of Gale. Gale clashes with Mal a LOT in the game and there was even a scene between them where he quite literally damned him? but then later on after that we got a scene where Gale was clearly interested in him so it turns out Gale also has a crush on him i guess?? Don't really know if it's a bug but i'm kinda happy it developed that way bc honestly it's such a juicy concept HJDFBHKJBGK 😭😭 Mal's a Heterosexual Man though so he doesnt return the feelings and now Gale is stuck with a big fat unrequited crush on Mal that i never anticipated or intended to happen. Gale is my absolute favorite character in the game though so I've never wanted an OC to kill themselves so bad until i had Mal cut off that insanely really romantic moment with Gale DFJHBDKHJG I HATE HIM SO MUCH MAN........ MOST EVIL THING HE'S DONE IN THE GAME SO FAR!! GALE SHOULD KILL HIM.
Tumblr media
Admittedly i do really like the idea of Mal, Lae'zel and Gale being in a really weird and twisted situationship where they often can't stand being around one another as a result of their strong personalities and insane moral compasses but are also kinda obsessed with each other and have a lot of unsaid feelings between the three of them. AND MAYBE THEY ALL KISS OR SOMETHING this is all totally in my head and relies exclusively on just. My imagination going wild as i perceive them in the game. they're the worsties ever and uhhh I hate them?/ I actually love them that just seemed like a funny thing to say.......
I uh didn't mean for this to go on so long especially since i mentioned being kinda embarrassed about it but I guess i didn't realize how much I had been keeping this in..... i hadn't really shared anything about him yet before on here, so THANK U FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY!!!! now I'm gonna go hide in shame bc of how much i said okay BYEEEEE 🧡

🖇️BL WATCHLIST OCTOBER
🎬Ai Long Nhai - I’m watching this for Jom but wtf did they do to his hair? I can only hope the subtitles don’t adequately represent what’s going on in this show but at least everyone’s really pretty?
🎬War of Y - This show somehow manages to suckerpunch me every single week. BillySeng were amazing and Bew from the second story deserves the world (so the exact opposite of what the finale gave him).
🎬Ghost Host, Ghost House - This show is a gem.
🎬Why You... Y Me? - I honestly didn’t expect this show to be so good? It’s genuinely funny and charming. I didn’t even have it on my radar because it’s not 100% a BL but going by the first ep the two BL couples are treated fairly equally to the (straight) main couple. It’s a bit like The Shipper minus the bodyswitching and fantasy elements.
🎬Love in the Air - I’m not 100% invested but I like it well enough and look forward to each new ep. When, uh... when will we get Saifah’s story, though? I’m asking for a friend.
🎬The Eclipse - I’m enjoying everyone’s commentaries and insights on this show so much. And the show itself has this emotional sincerity to it that really resonates with me. Also, Neo is doing fantastic in this.
🎬 Hard Love Mission - Eh, a cute show. Sometimes that’s enough.
🎬Big Dragon - Perhaps my most anticipated show this year. At this point I couldn’t stop stanning if I wanted to (I don’t).
🎬Fahlanruk - I have this soft spot for Sherbet (and his hair) and I don’t know where that’s even coming from but it keeps me watching every week.
🎬Remember Me - I came for JaFirst and stayed for Name and that amazing feeling of nostalgia.
🎬Self - Ep 1 was way different than the trailer but I kind of like how the main character is a jerk so let’s see where this goes.
🖇️ON HOLD
⏸️My Only 12% - This is so cute, and Santa & Cooheart are so, so good, but I’m way behind and I don’t have the time to catch up. 😔
🖇️LOOKING FORWARD TO
⭐To Sir, With Love - This has already started but the eps are 90 minutes and I don’t have the time to watch atm. 😔
🖇️FINISHED
🎬Oh! My Sunshine Night - I started watching this for Noh and Noh only and then went on to let RainPhayu consume my entire soul. And despite Aisplay seemingly butchering the whole show during pre-production I still enjoyed it for the most part. It sure was a very pretty show, and the cast did what they could with it.

White Silk
Tumblr media
Parts One, Two, and Three of this series of oneshots.
-
There were only few moments in your life when you truly cared about the weather.
Once when your much-anticipated camping trip was spent inside your tents hiding from a torrential downpour. Another time when your apartment’s air conditioning broke down during an unprecedented heat wave. A final time when icy roads brought you close to you wrapping your car around a tree.
This was another one of those moments. Outside, what seemed like the storm of the century battered the building relentlessly, turning the day into a dark, stormy mess.
Inside, however, Lee Jieun somehow still managed to shine.
She was utterly beautiful - no, beautiful seemed inadequate to describe the sight. She stands with her back half turned to you, her perfect silhouette framed by the window. And while it is dark and stormy outside, she somehow still manages to glow, her very presence seeming to battle against the gloom that pervaded the rest of the day, seeming to defy it, seeming to tell it “No, your rain and clouds will not dim my brightness.”
She turns when you enter the room - and time slows to a crawl. It was like one of those moments in the movies when the female lead meets the male lead for the first time. As she turns her head, her hair, unstyled and seemingly also unbrushed but somehow still flawless, whips carelessly over her bare shoulder, almost as if in slow motion - a shampoo commercial come to life.
Wrapped around her lithe, thin frame is a white silk dress. Made of the finest of materials and woven by the most talented of seamstresses, it is almost a work of art in and of itself - but without the young woman on whom it draped it is little more than a useless scrap of overpriced fabric. No, the woman made the dress, and not the other way around. It is she that makes the dress beautiful.
From the second you met her so many years ago you’d thought she was the most beautiful woman you’d ever met - but right now, as a bride on her wedding day, you knew she’d never been more beautiful. All women are beautiful - but on their wedding day they glow just a little brighter.
Jieun’s eyes meet yours. A glimpse of a surprised reaction - one she quickly hides. She opens her mouth to speak, and you expect some eloquent, powerful observation on the storm raging outside, and how it will not affect her spirits.
“I need some fucking alcohol,” she spits.
You smirk a little at her first words of the day to you. She looked like a princess, but sometimes she had the tongue of a sailor.
“Sorry,” you answer as you step towards her, “there’s no bar on the premises, unfortunately, although I hear the reception will have one. Cash bar, though, so best hit up an ATM before arriving.”
Jieun sighs and returns her attention to staring out the window. You feel the room get a little dimmer as she takes her attention away from you.
“Of course not. Nothing today can go right, apparently.”
You stand beside her, staring out the same window at the angry grey skies and the seemingly endless torrential downpour.
“You shouldn’t be here,” she says after a few shared seconds watching the raindrops trace random patterns on the glass.
“You’re not exactly kicking me out.”
Jieun scoffs. “Well everything else today is going horribly wrong so yeah, why the hell not have you show up?”
“What else is going wrong, exactly?”
“The photographer came down with a cold, so the best we can muster is my cousin and his fucking iPhone. The hair and makeup artist I hired is stuck in traffic on the other side of the city and probably won’t make it here on time, which is why I currently look like a fucking college student on the wrong end of a weed bender. The florist thought the wedding was tomorrow, so the only flowers we have are those sad looking almost-dead bouquets from the fucking gas station. Oh, and the reception hall had a goddamn double booking and neglected to tell us that the banquet hall won’t be available until 10pm, once the fucking high school math olympics has finished its awards ceremony!”
You frown. There wasn’t really much you could do to ameliorate the situation.
“Clusterfuck and a half,” you state.
“Clusterfuck and three quarters,” she counters, “coming real close to two full clusterfucks. Compared to all the bullshit that’s already gone down today, yeah, fuck it, you may as well be here, even when you very clearly shouldn’t be. I’m getting married today, if you didn’t notice.”
You glance over to her for the first time, and even though she is currently wearing a frown on her cute little features, you are nonetheless still struck by her beauty. Such a cheesy thing to admit to - being awestruck by a woman. It was something that surely only happened in books and movies and on Netflix; surely in real life no woman could ever be so beautiful as to render a man temporarily physically paralyzed.
But Lee Jieun had a way of doing that to you. She did it when she walked into the busy downtown Korean barbeque place that your mutual friend had dragged her to on that fateful day so many years ago. She did it when she just so happened to sit next to you, and again when she reached out her slim, pale hand and introduced herself with a cute handshake and a blinding smile.
And she did it every single day you’d met her since. Today was no different, even if it was one of the most important days of her life.
“I overheard one of the bridesmaids saying you weren’t doing so well,” you say. “I had to make sure you were going to make it up the aisle.”
“Well I feel nauseous as fuck at the moment so I might make it up there only to barf all over the goddamn groom when I get to the altar.”
“What a lucky guy.”
“Damn straight. He gets to spend his entire life boning this hot piece,” she says with an exaggerated flourish of her hand over her body that was more sarcastic than serious, a deadpan frown on her face.
“I’m jealous,” you say.
Jieun buries her face in her hands, where she lets out a long sigh.
“Are you sure you don’t have a shot of soju in your jacket or something?”
“No,” you say. “I do have these, though.”
“I swear to god if you’re referring to your balls I’m gonna punch-”
When she lifts her head from her hands, she finds you with your arms wide open and the cheesiest of smiles on your face.
It begins slowly - just a slight crack of an upward tilt at the corners of her mouth, like a small ray of light piercing dark clouds. Eventually her soft pink lips and cute cheeks follow suit, and soon the metaphorical clouds part, her face surrendering to the reluctant smile and short chuckle that she allows to escape her mouth along with an adorable little snort.
She steps forward into your embrace, and you wrap your arms tightly around each other.
“You’ve always been there for me,” she says, her words muffled by your chest.
“I always will be.”
“Even when I’m married?”
“Especially when you’re married. Married guys can be dicks.”
Jieun chuckles again, and the soft vibration of her laugh against your chest makes your heart sing. She presses herself closer against you, as though she were fleeing from the accumulating problems of the day and had just found a hiding spot in your arms.
“How much time do I have?” she asks, barely audible.
“About an hour or so, I’d say,” you reply. Only a few of the guests had arrived and the groomsmen and bridesmaids were occupied with putting out the myriad of little fires that came up during weddings. There was still some time to yourselves before the start of the show.
“Then kiss me,” she says, lifting her head from your chest.
Time slows again. Time moves slowly, almost incrementally slowly, as you bend your head to kiss her.
It felt so wrong, so dangerous - but it also felt so right, so perfect. You should not have been there, not on her wedding day, mere minutes before she was to walk down the aisle. You could have, and perhaps should have, been anywhere but here.
But Jieun had always had that hold over you. You didn’t think yourself whipped for any other woman in your life, but when Jieun called you answered - no questions asked. You hated yourself for it sometimes, hated that a woman could have such overwhelming control over you, could have you wrapped around her finger like she did.
But one smile - and sometimes, one kiss - was all it took to remind you why you did it: you were in love with her.
The kiss deepens, becoming something more passionate, more needy. Tongues begin to explore familiar mouths and find their counterparts willing and ready to touch and taste. Hands tighten around torsos. Hips press against hips. The bride tries to find solace from a day of ruined plans in the kiss and embrace of a man that meant so much to her.
You are happy to leave it there - merely seeing her was already probably a mistake - but Jieun was never one to stop things she had started. She breaks the kiss and pulls at the back of your head until your mouth is on her neck, and you begin devouring the sweet, pale flesh there with your hungry lips and tongue. She cranes her neck up and back, offering up more of herself to you.
Her hands slip between your bodies to work at your belt, which she quickly undoes.
“Here..?” you manage to gasp in between kisses. She was taking your breath away, again, although this time for another reason.
“Here,” she snaps, as though she were surprised you would even dare to ask, “Everything else is going wrong. I need this now. I need you now. Fuck me like you always do. One last time.”
Before you could say anything further she has you out of your boxers, her slim fingers suddenly cold and chilly around your quickly hardening shaft. Soon she has you at full stiffness. It doesn’t take you long. It never did. Especially not now, given the circumstances. Given the knowledge that the hand wrapped around your shaft and pumping it up and down would soon have a shiny diamond ring on it for the rest of her life.
You groan into her neck as the pleasure she is conjuring inside your body begins to overtake your senses. You feel her cheeks move against the side of your face - a wicked smile on an angel’s lips.
You are content to let her have her way with you, but you are reminded of her request - to fuck her the way you always did. And when you fucked, you were the one in control. Her innocent, girl-next-door exterior belied the fact that she loved to be taken, loved to be called names and used - and you weren’t one to disappoint her, even today, on this most important of days. You hated yourself sometimes for how much control she had over you in your day-to-day life; but you relished the fact that in your most intimate moments the roles were very much reversed.
You bring your hands to her shoulders and turn her around until she is facing the wall. She lets out a gasp of surprise - one that turns into a low moan as you press yourself, and your stiff shaft, against her. She braces herself against the glass, her forearms and palms flat against it.
Your hands, still on her shoulders, trace the top edge of the perfect white dress wrapped around her like a second skin. When they reach the front of her dress, you grasp the top edge and pull downward.
Jieun gasps as you pull the dress down to expose her breasts, and you grin devilishly over her shoulder as you watch her reflection in the glass as her small, perfect round mounds bounce free from their silk prison. Before she can react further your hands are already on them, squeezing them none too gently, enjoying the feel of her body molding itself into your hands, her already stiffened nipples poking between your fingers.
“You gonna let me fuck you on your wedding day, Jieun?” you hiss into her ear.
“Fuck yes,” she hisses, her breath a mist upon the glass, “I want you to fuck me right fucking now.”. She reaches down, pulling her long, flowing skirt up to bunch it around her waist. It takes her a while - her skirt is so long - but soon the pale, perfect round cheeks of her pert little ass are laid bare, your cock pressing impatiently against her lower back.
You smirk at the sight of her, the perfect little bride on her wedding day, now a wanton, needy little thing, begging for it, begging to be fucked in a dress that was supposed to symbolize her innocence with its pure color. She wasn’t even wearing underwear, as though she knew this would happen, was expecting to be fucked wearing this dress.
“Fuck me,” she snaps, as though every moment you kept her waiting was making her more and more upset. “Fuck me please. I’m so wet for you.”
“Such a slutty little bride,” you observe. ‘So wet and hot already, and I’ve barely touched you.” You pinch her nipples. She sighs. You grin at the sight of her in her pristine white dress, an angel engaged in an act that was not at all angelic.
“Fuck yes. I’m such a slut. Such a slutty little bride. Now fuck me!”
“You want to get fucked against this glass in your pretty little white wedding dress?”
“Mmmm!” Jieun gasps, every sound that leaves her throat dripping now with need, “Please, fuck me now. Fuck this bride’s tight little pussy until you cum in it.”
You let go of her breasts, but not before giving her stiff nubs one last pinch that elicits a sharp gasp from her throat. Your right hand drifts to your cock, you line up your tip with her entrance, and within moments you slip inside Lee Jieun’s body.
You’d had her plenty of times, but today is different - and you wonder if perhaps the circumstances and the sheer audacity of what you were doing somehow added to the way she felt around you. She was slick and hot and wet and so, so very tight. It almost drove you insane to be inside her. Judging by the way her fingers curled against the hard glass, seeking something to claw into as she is filled with your cock - Jieun felt the same.
“Fuck,” she hisses, the curse word leaving her mouth in a breathy sigh. You both take a moment to savor the sensations - hers of being filled, yours of her wet, hot body wrapping itself around your stiff, aching shaft.
You don’t waste any time. You had little to waste, nor did you have any desire to deny yourself the pleasure her body promised. When you withdraw your shaft from between her round cheeks to find it glistening with her juices, you quickly drive yourself back in - this time to the hilt.
Soon you are fucking Lee Jieun against the glass, her naked breasts pressed against it, stiff nipples crushed against the cold surface as she is taken roughly, your cock pumping in and out of her wet, slick pussy at a frantic pace.
If she had problems with the liberties you were taking on her body she was not showing it. Her reactions told you much the opposite - that she loved each thrust into her needy pussy, loved feeling you piston in and out of her at the quick, hard pace you had set for yourselves.
“Oh my… oh my fucking god,” she hisses, her face pressed now against the glass, a soft mist forming on it with each hot breath that leaves her lips. “Fuck me, fuck me like this.”
You are almost afraid to look down, almost afraid to watch your cock pump in and out of her needy body - but you eventually tear your eyes from her pleasure-stricken face to glance down between your torsos.
Her juices are flowing freely, lathering your stiff shaft with a thick sheen of her slick, glistening  wetness. Her lips grip every inch of your shaft, parting softly to welcome it in with each thrust, grasping it tightly with each withdrawal as though not wanting to let it go. You reach down and squeeze her tight little ass with both hands, filling your hands with her cheeks, parting them slightly to give you a better view of each thrust of your cock into her slick, wet pussy.
“Oh… oh fuck!” she gasps as you reach a new depth, bottoming out your thrusts now as you fill her with every inch of you, filling the mewling young bride as deeply as you could with stiff cock.
“Fucking take my cock, Jieun,” you snap, bringing your hand up to her chin to tilt it toward you. “Fucking take it.”
“Y-yes! Fuck me… I’m yours. I’m yours!”
The filth of her words, of her submission to you, would have been pleasurable any other time. But now, mere minutes from her marriage - it meant something more, something more perverse - and something more deliciously sinful.
You reach around her torso to grasp a round breast with your free hand, finding her stiff nipple and teasing it at first before pinching and twisting the sensitive bud. You turn her face toward you with the hand on her chin, wanting to watch as every thrust into her body twisted her small, adorable face with little spasms of pleasure. For a few long, delicious minutes you fuck the mewling, squirming young bride against the glass, the pleasure you both found in each others’ bodies far outweighing the filthy wickedness of your act.
“Is your husband going to fuck you like this every single day? Fuck your needy, slutty little pussy whenever he wants?”
“Y-yes!” she manages to gasp, her words interrupted by each thrust of your cock into her juicy pussy, “Yes… whenever… wherever… however he wants!”
“And you want my cum dripping down your legs while you walk down the aisle? While you get married?”
“Yes! Oh fuck please I want it, I want your cum inside me, I want it dripping out of my pussy oh please oh fuck, cum inside me oh fuck cum inside me please, fill my pussy, fill me with cum, fuck me, fuck me, oh, oh I’m cumming, oh--!”
You always dreaded Jieun’s orgasm during sex, because it was so powerful, so overwhelming -  not only for her, but for the both of you. And it usually meant that you came soon after.
Jieun turns into a mewling, quivering mess of flesh, held up against the glass only by your hands on her chin and breast - and the cock still pistoning in and out of her pulsating pussy. You fuck her through her orgasm even as you feel your own beckoning, concentrating on each thrust, pushing yourself as deep as you can inside the young bride before pulling out only far enough to thrust right back inside her.
The random pulsating of her slick pussy, the wordless cries of pleasure brought upon her by her orgasm, and the soft breast in your hand - it all combined to push you dangerously close to the edge. But the thought of it - of fucking this needy young woman mere moments before her wedding - and at her demand, no less - it pushed you right over it.
You push yourself as deep inside her as you can go before you finally allow your orgasm to overtake your senses. Your mind tunnels, becoming focused solely on your pulsating cock as it spurts hot, thick semen deep inside Jieun’s tightly gripping pussy. The bride gasps - a soft, lustful sound - with each rope of cum that splashes into her depths, each stream further adding to the mess you’d made inside her body.
You both spend a long minute trying your best to piece your realities back together after your respective orgasms have shattered it, both reduced to heavily breathing, barely standing masses of suddenly weak flesh. It was a quick little session - not more than a few minutes from her first kiss to your mutual orgasm - but it still left you both exhausted, chests heaving in an attempt to refill lungs drained of air.
You reach up, tilt her chin to yours once more, and you give her a kiss - one that was more affectionate than perhaps either of you were ready for, but one you find her returning willingly and passionately.
Slowly you draw your softening shaft out of her body, and Jieun tries her best to clean herself up and look presentable, doing her best to look as though she didn’t just have rough sex minutes before walking down the aisle.
There is a knock on the door. It opens just wide enough for the maid of honor to poke her head inside - and you are thankful that she didn’t decide to do so a few minutes earlier, lest she catch you fucking the bride against the glass. She gives you a quizzical look.
“Isn’t it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?” she asks.
“I think we’ve used up all our bad luck for today, Nayeon,” Jieun answers. “What’s a little more bullshit on top of the shit sundae that is our wedding plans?”
Nayeon frowns, confused by the bride’s nonchalance towards the day’s ruined plans. “Aish. Anyway, the makeup lady is here. And one of the groomsmen managed to track down a photographer. One of you should talk to him.”
“Thank you, Nayeon. We’ll just be a few minutes,” you reply.
The maid of honor gives you both a look before she closes the door behind her.
“I can’t believe we just did that,” Jieun says.
“Me neither.”
“I’ll see you up there. You’re walking down that aisle first. Try not to trip.”
“Try not to drip.”
Jieun gives you a punch in the arm, but her hand lingers there for a moment, before sliding down and grasping your hand in hers.
“I love you,” she says.
“And I, you,” you reply.
You kiss her, and the peck on the lips turns into a soft but passionate kiss. She gives one last look out the window and the cloudy, stormy weather that continued unabated outside, although it all seemed to matter a little less to the both of you.
“Let’s go get married,” she says, the smile on her lips all the sunshine you ever needed.
-
Author’s Note: Short but hopefully sweet. :) I had to sneak in an “I, you” (IU) reference in there somewhere lol.
So I felt kind of bad about the way Green Silk ended and wanted to have a similar twist but this time with a happy ending lol. Also lol at maid of honor Nayeon, I bet being IU’s maid of honor would be a dream come true for her haha.

Re: that anon who asked about the shuffle step of the themes of sacrifice
I also found the ideological shift in the volume very interesting, and I think she most interesting bits are with Team RRAYNBOW. Like I think the dynamic between Yang and Ruby and their respective missions this volume is very interesting (if maybe a bit underdeveloped, atm at least). You said a little about it with Team JOYR in Chapter 7. Do you have anymore thoughts about the "shuffle step" in regards to that?
i’m gonna admit upfront that i find this question kind of perplexing, because i don’t know what “ideological shift” it could be alluding to when imo our heroes didn’t so much pivot (or shift, or shuffle step) ideologically so much as make a series of context-specific decisions according to what they felt in the moment they could live with, or would die for (don’t make me tap the sign, etc).
what i DO think might be helpful, though, is to lay out what was at stake in each of the weighty choices/discussions our heroes took part in, from the very beginning of the Long Night to the end of volume 8, to see what (if any) throughlines persist or change. so:
Cordially Invited (7.8) to Out in the Open (7.10): our heroes are all in accord. transparency (telling the truth to Robyn) and collaboration (working with/helping Mantle) are paramount, and Ruby specifically takes steps to remedy her own wavering in that earlier in the season, by letting Oscar tell the whole truth to Ironwood. what’s key about this run, though, is that our heroes aren’t calling the shots yet. they advocate for certain actions when advising Ironwood, but they still trust him to take charge of deciding Atlas/Mantle’s fate.
Gravity (7.11): the Big Shift in terms of status quo. our heroes (JNR more implicitly) remain in accord--abandoning Mantle is the line in the sand they refuse to cross. but what does RWBY advocate for, if not Ironwood’s plan? they all agree that the best thing to do is to stand their ground, but for what? Blake and Weiss are comparatively silent on that front, but Ruby and Yang are more explicit. Ruby makes her plea about Amity--that if they hold out long enough, they can do what they always planned, and unite the world, and get help. Yang’s argument is that Huntsmen and Huntresses don’t back down from a fight. (she’s also the first person to suss out that Amity isn’t ready for launch.) this difference is going to come up later.
The Enemy of Trust (7.13): Oscar makes his last individual plea to Ironwood. his reasoning, much like Blake’s (and presumably Weiss’), is simply that abandoning Mantle is a sacrifice of such magnitude that it becomes unconscionable. it’s wrong because it’s wrong, and Ironwood’s rebuttal that it’s pointless to argue about philosophy when Salem’s right on their doorstep, is dickish, but not incomprehensible. Oscar is still looking to retain the advisory capacity that Team Unwieldy Acronym has had for the entire season, and guide Ironwood to making the right call, but that bridge has already been burned. they have to decide the fate of Atlas/Mantle now if they want to save both.
Divide (8.1): The team is no longer in accord. Ruby and Yang recognize that though they agree about Ironwood, their reasons for not abandoning Mantle are different. Ruby’s looking at the big picture, both in terms of what they have to do for the world, and what the world can do for them. Amity looks to be the only obstacle to getting both and saving everyone. Yang thinks it’s pointless. Yang didn’t want to abandon Mantle because that’s just not what you do, but she has no expectation of fighting toward any good outcome. she’s gonna do what seems more readily achievable, which is saving whatever lives can be saved. Ren and Nora split along similar lines more acrimoniously, because Ren at this point is desperate for tangible success and Nora is...just as desperate for total consuming optimism. Blake throws her lot in with Ruby, Weiss abstains, remaining the most quiet on the fate of Atlas/Mantle despite being Atlesian. Jaune and Oscar, though they go with Yang, mostly go for pragmatic reasons.
Refuge (8.2) to Midnight (8.6), Yang’s Team: the plan to help with Mantle is almost immediately derailed when the Hound kidnaps Oscar. i’ve talked about JYR’s plea to Winter in War, but that of course is not the first time that team chooses the few over the many; they do that IMMEDIATELY after Oscar is kidnapped, when Fiona calls for their help and they--without even verbally consulting with each other--go for Oscar instead. in that moment the more proximal thing they can and need to achieve becomes rescuing their friend, whose captor was still in view. but crucially: as soon as they lose Oscar in Fault, and especially after they discover the Grimm River in Amity, JYR had been on their way back to Mantle, and presumably, back to the less impossible thing to do, the thing they promised the Happy Huntresses they’d help with. running into the AceOps and Salem’s invasion throws a monkey wrench into that plan. suddenly rescuing Oscar becomes possible (though not probable)...
War (8.7), Yang’s Team: but not if Ironwood blows up the Whale, whereupon the equation changes again because now doing nothing for Oscar means leaving Oscar to certain death. tbh the confrontation on the airship is about like fifteen different things at once, because the variables keep changing and everyone is having their own argument over whether to rescue Oscar, and why. Yang’s response once she hears about the bomb is mostly you can’t; it is once again just not what Huntresses do, with some personal stakes thrown in. for the AceOps it is about the weighing of lives, and how they can’t put the mission to save Atlas on hold for one life. Jaune is the one who thinks of an idea where they might be able to do one without delaying the other (the second time this season Jaune has suggested the “go for both” option), where they would be the only ones risking their lives, and no harm comes to the greater good. only then does Ren jump in and shift the argument to caring and friendship; that is to say, after the stakes have been lowered so it’s not Oscar vs. Atlas anymore. i don’t think it takes away from his big moment, though: we know from Fault that Ren has taken Yang’s challenge of “let’s do what we can do” and run with it, and come up with “and what we can do is nothing because we’re not ready and we get everything wrong,” so him vowing to do whatever we can here is important. the point is clear: Team Hero draws their strength from their friends, and they’re willing to die for each other...but the question of if they’d let the world burn for their friend is put off for now.
Strings (8.3) to War (8.7), Ruby’s Team: in contrast to Yang’s plan faceplanting at the first hurdle, Ruby’s plan...works. they accomplish their primary objective! but they had to pay a steep price, and the only immediate consequence of that victory was entirely negative. Nora threw so much of herself into Ruby’s optimistic gamble that she now has lasting scars, and if they had never gone to Atlas Command Penny would not have been hacked (so easily; she might have been regardless). Ruby successfully put the ball in the world’s court, but that the problem: the ball is in the world’s court, and the longer it stays there the less sure she is that help will come. and it IS just about the help they’ll receive by War; Salem batting away Atlas’ hard light shields has shifted the goalposts from “hope the other Kingdoms can prepare :/” to “BLAKE’S PARENTS CAN YOU PICK US UP???” the question of Atlas or Mantle rears its ugly head for the first time since Gravity, and this is the first time Weiss is the first one to advocate, and she says we can’t leave--which, not coincidentally, is also what RWBY said to Ironwood in Gravity. May’s argument, of course, is driven by far more compassion: the need in Mantle is greater, and having finished facilitating Ruby’s (and Robyn’s) plan she’s going to do what Yang decided to do, what Joanna wanted them to do, which is fight for every last life. there’s no longer any big wheels to turn, nor any big powers to convince; all they have to do is decide what they themselves will do, and who to fight for. and Weiss finally shows her hand here. she believes in not leaving Mantle behind, but when it comes to the faces she’d fight and die for, Weiss’ are still in Atlas. Blake and Ruby are the ones to abstain this time, and notably when Ruby tries to argue that they’re all in this together it’s much less effective, because...there’s nothing left for them to do together. Ruby is out of concrete solutions.
Witch (8.9): what goes easily missed here that in retrospect is very important is...Oscar kills Hazel. (which means that an Ozcarnation killed BOTH of the Rainart twins.) we all thought he doubled back to make a sacrifice play, and he did, but not for himself. he received Hazel’s verbal consent, and Hazel would have died regardless, but the point still stands. he had to kill Hazel to neutralize Salem, to buy them the time they desperately needed. an unsettling portent for what comes later, innit? it highlights what his own kidnapping, Nora’s injuries, and Penny’s hacking already illustrates, which is that they are now risking every inch of their body and souls in this fray, and it also illuminates the other part of that, which is that by continuing to throw themselves back into this conflict, they now control the fates of other people as well. Hazel trusted Oscar to make the right call, but Oscar had to make the call.
Risk (8.11): where we ultimately land with the splitting of teams is that: Yang’s team went out to achieve the easily graspable, and they ended up forging alliances they never anticipated and dealing a devastating blow to Salem. Ruby’s team went out to achieve what should have been much more difficult, and they did, but with little palpable impact beyond the negative. what comes out and blends exquisitely with their conversation about Summer is that yes, Ruby sent out the call to warn the world, because she believed in humanity and unity, but Ruby sent out the call because she wanted help. she wanted people--say, parental figures--to save her and tell her things would be okay, and she wanted back the innocence to believe them. Ruby didn’t ask to be the face of the war against Salem, and she most certainly does not want to be in charge of it; she has lived with the material consequences of her family being the centerpiece of that war for her entire life. the Hound reveal is the final twist in the knife of Ruby’s childhood, because now the figure on the highest pedestal in Ruby’s mind has been perverted to a malevolent specter, and if that’s the case there are no more adults. THEY have to be the adults now, and look what a terrible job she’s done with that. Yang’s response is that Ruby is not alone--either in her traumatic fall into adulthood, or in her choices not panning out as expected. all they can do is the best they can in the moment, and Yang’s probably going to keep defaulting to what feels more tangible to her, but that doesn’t mean she wants Ruby to stop going for pie-in-the-sky options, either. Summer is still Yang’s hero, which means Ruby is too. what matters most is that they remain responsive to the moment, and don’t get bowled over by despair when something inevitably go off the rails.
so given all these developments, what are we to make of the plan from Creation (8.12) to The Final Word (8.14)? we start with the archetypal Third Option, as championed by Ruby and Jaune: use the Staff to save Penny and Mantle, and Atlas along the way. but the priorities of the plan--civilians first, presumably even before the Relics or the Maiden powers (though the question of one of them or a Relic is really only answered by Winter, who does not speak for Team Hero)--have Yang all over them. we have to do this for Yang isn’t just because Yang’s gone, it’s because they know it’s what Yang would have wanted, and they will respect that. they made a Ruby n Jaune style Big Plan, but when that plan fell to pieces there was no time to think of a fourth, or fifth, or sixth option that would get everyone out, so they had to improvise and double down on what they all agreed was most important. the choice between their friends or the people could no longer be deferred, or augmented, so they chose. civilians, then the Relics and the Maiden powers, then each other. and when any of them wavered--Blake, Ruby, Jaune--someone else checked them, reminded them to trust and respect what they all committed to. they’re still drawing strength from each other, still dying for each other, but they acknowledge that they are not directing just their fates with their decisions anymore. they took a huge desperate gamble to save Atlas/Mantle, and it worked, but what they gambled with was their own lives. and they made themselves make peace with that--that they’d have to do what they can, everything they can, without hoping for salvation for themselves, even from friends or family.
in the end, what comes across just from doing a close reading of these moments is that RWBY’s views on sacrifice, logic vs. sentiment, the greater vs. the few, etc can’t really be plotted on a solid line. that’s why i can’t really think of what happened this volume as a palpable shift--because so many of these choices were context and character dependent. what i DO think happened with our heroes’ ethical beliefs (or “ideology” ig) is that they were tested across a sequence of stressful and traumatic situations, and as a result they had to compromise on a few things they hoped to never have to compromise in order to shore up defenses on what they were certain they could not live without, or would die for (or both! in the case of six of them). if they have to die like every other Huntsman in history so be it, but they refuse to be so cavalier with the lives of others. none of that is meant to be definitive, however: in-universe RWBY is far from over, and Team Hero is going to get to re-litigate and reexamine these questions from lots more angles, out-of-universe...RWBY is far from over, and the point of the show is not to provide an ethical rubric against which the audience can judge themselves and the characters. there are things--like y’know. genocide--that this show will always consider to be beyond the pale, but in terms of grayer complex questions it is content to simply feel out what is and is not allowable in each particular instance, without trying to resolve all options into One Correct Option.
because sometimes you do just have to sit with the discomfort of there not being one right choice or one golden rule, and sometimes you are awash in the consequences of not only your own actions but the actions of others. and then you have to keep going.

Nights Like These || All for One x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You were his favorite.
SFW // not fluff but not angst
Word Count: 2802
WARNINGS: obsessive behavior, toxic behavior/mindsets, manipulation, possessive behavior, all for one is evil as usual, fear tactics, some sensual touching, kisses, mentions of death if you squint, swearing, age gap relationship of you squint, but reader is depicted to be in their late 20s, also the fact I also didn't proofread this one lmao (pls forgive me I was working on this at like 3 am).
A/N: This takes place before AFO became the potato man. This is my take on how he would be like in a "relationship". If you want some PRIME AFO content, however, AND ARE THE AGE OF 18 OR OVER, go check out @nonobadcat 's story A Hypnotic Nightmare. It's one of my favs atm (also, badcat, if you're reading this, i haven't forgotten about the fanart! i've just had a lot on my plate bc of the end of school. im terribly sorry if it seemed like i left you hanging).
~~
You hated armored black vans.
Ever since meeting him you knew exactly what they meant.
They would come to you when you least expected it, and often when you really didn't want them to. You could be anywhere in the world, and one would always find a way to roll up next to you. If you tried to outwalk them, they would just drive faster. If you pretended to ignore them, they would cut you off in your tracks.
Persistent little shits.
Just like him.
This time, it was late into the night when one rolled up next to you. You hadn't seen one in some days beforehand, and was relishing in that fact when the dread-vehicle rumbled up next to you. You had just gotten done doing some late-night grocery shopping for yourself, looking decent but in no way perfect. Sighing through your nose, you gave the tinted windows of the van the glare of your life, trying in vain attempt to get it to just piss off.
Even though that tactic never worked before, it would never stop you from trying.
The van pulled up to the curb next to you and slowed to a stop. Seeing as there was no way you could run or try to ignore it now, you stopped in your tracks, clenching your plastic grocery bags tighter. A moment later, the van rolled it's driver's side window down, revealing the driver to you. You didn't recognize this one; it wasn't one in his normal rotation.
You wondered if he killed one of the other ones, and this one was the replacement.
Looking into the eyes of the driver, you shot him another glare, your face morphing into a frown. This didn't seem to phase the man, however, since he just stared back at you with a blank expression.
You knew you weren't that threatening, but, come on. At least show something.
"What is it?" you questioned the man, your voice firm and serious. Although you already knew the answer to that, you prayed to whoever was listening that it would be a different answer this time.
"He wants to see you."
No dice.
You let out another sigh through your nose, this time more frustrated and annoyed than the last one.
"I just saw him the other day," you tried to bargain, "and I have ice cream in here. Can it wait until tomorrow?"
The driver shook his head, "Sorry, miss. He wants you now."
Your face assumed a deeper frown. It wasn't often that these drivers made it known to you how persistent he was being in seeing you. This made a lump form in the bottom of your stomach. What did he want this time? Another date? Quality time? Or just to remind you of who you belonged to?
You hoped it was one of the former two.
Looking from side to side nervously, you swallowed the lump in your throat before speaking again, "Can I at least put my groceries in my apartment first?"
The driver shook his head, "We can get someone to do it for you, miss. But we need to leave. Now."
Damn, this driver really meant business.
Finally admitting defeat, you slowly took a few steps towards the van, watching as the large, jet-black doors rolled itself open for you. Leaning down, you set your bags on the clean, vacuumed floor of the van, ducking down and pushing yourself inside next. The driver watched you in the rear-view mirror, making sure that you sat down and buckled your seatbelt. Once you were safe in the backseat, he shut the door to the van and pulled out into the street again, driving noticeably careful.
A soft sense of dread washing over you, you leaned up against the van door and planted your elbow on the armrest, resting your chin in your palm. Not feeling up for friendly chat with the man driving you, you fixated your gaze out the window, watching as the neon lights of Japan rushed by you.
You wondered which location you would be at today.
He seemed to have spots everywhere across the world.
You hoped it was the Tokyo one. That one had your favorite food and view.
Hugging yourself closer to the door, you tried to ignore the dread winding up in your stomach. You tried your best to just focus on how pretty the lights looked at night, but couldn't help but have your mind linger back to the racing thoughts that plagued your head.
You wished your friend had never introduced you to his stupid fucking cult. He would deny over and over that it was a cult, but it was a cult. You had been quirkless for so long, and content being so all your life. But, when your friend told you about the man she met that could give you your very own quirk, you would be lying if you said you weren't intrigued.
Biggest mistake of your entire fucking life.
~~
Alas to you, the driver didn't take you to the Tokyo location. It ended up being the Osaka location. You felt rather disappointed by this.
The driver was at least nice enough to help you out of the car and escort you into the hands of your body guards for the night. The guards quickly surrounded you, almost suffocating you by how close they were. After relaying the message that you had arrived, the guards practically drug you into the tall, looming building.
You wondered when the next time you could go outside would be.
Going through the doors, you were greeted with the familiar sight of clean, shiny marble floors, your feet clacking against them as they always did. Everything about the building was ornate but simple, reminding you of some fancy hotel.
It was so fucking obnoxious.
Only one dude and occasionally yourself lived here. And not even full time.
It make you frown.
Eventually, the guards and yourself made your way to the elevators. When one eventually came down (it didn't take long because you were most likely some of the only people in the building), all of you packed in the elevator like a fucking clown car. You were shoulder-to-shoulder with the much taller guards, suffocating on their cologne.
The dead silence in the elevator made you wanna puke.
~~
The guards left you once you were at the door.
You were now all alone in the hallway, the tall, dark, looming door before you. Your fingertips were trembling, yet you didn't know if it was out of fear or anticipation.
He probably already knew you were here. Why did you even have to go through this step? Just for his sick kicks?
Most likely.
You didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
You swallowed and closed your eyes, taking a few deep breaths in and out of your nose. You had to give yourself a pep talk before you could lift up your hand, curling your knuckles to knock on the door.
You stopped before you could knock even once. If there was any time to run, this is it. If you could just-
No. It's impossible.
God how you knew it was impossible.
No matter where you went, no matter what you did, he seemed to always know.
You've seen him angry before. It ran shivers down your spine and made you contemplate whether or not there was an afterlife or not.
You didn't want to know how he was like when he was pissed off. Especially if it was directed towards you.
And, you knew, trying to get away from him was a sure as fuck way to royally piss him off.
Taking in one last deep breath, you put on your brave face and knocked on the door, feeling your dread become almost overwhelming in your gut.
You wet your lips before you spoke.
"It's me."
...
Silence.
Your head perked up at the nothingness that greeted you back. Was he not here anymore? Did he leave for a different place without telling you?
You opened your mouth to say something again, but quickly shut it again.
Could you... leave? Go home?
This was definitely a first.
As soon as your excitement welled up, however, you were quickly shot down again from the deep voice behind the door.
"Come in."
Fuck.
Squaring your shoulders and putting on your bravest face, you gingerly opened the door and stepped through, leaning your back against the wood as you shut it again.
Why did you do this to yourself? So willingly walk into the lion's den?
It didn't take you long to remember.
Fear.
Looking inside the room, the lighting was moody to say the least. Barely anything was turned on, and it was so deafeningly quiet, sans the sounds of the city below and the hum of the AC.
Scanning the room with your eyes, you felt your stomach do a flip when you landed on the man of the hour.
The man who had taken over your life for the past three years.
Him.
Shigaraki. Or, as he was known by everyone who wasn't you, All for One.
Probably the most feared man in Japan. Hell, the world even.
Christ on a fucking bike.
He was seated on the couch that faced the door, his usual sly smirk on his face. One of his legs was crossed over the other, and he seemed to had shed his black coat long ago. His crimson eyes bore right into the very fiber of your being, right into your very soul. His presence was so fucking overwhelming it made you feel like you couldn't breathe. The amount of power that dripped off that man was uncanny.
It always made you wonder what he wanted with quirkless little you.
Unable to maintain eye contact with him for any longer, you dropped your gaze to the floor, your back still pressed against the door. Even though you couldn't see him anymore, you could feel his eyes on you, raking up and down your body.
You prayed that this night went by quickly.
"You're late, little one." He said to you, making your shoulders tense up.
"I..." you began, your nervousness painfully obvious as you brushed your hair behind your ear, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be."
All for One let out a hum, and you could practically fucking feel his smirk grow bigger from across the room.
You wondered if he knew that you were only half telling the truth, or if he was just that delusional.
After a moment, he spoke again.
"Come into the light, darling. Let me get a good look at you."
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you hesitated for a brief second, your fingertips twitching against the wood of the door. Seeing no possible way out, you decided it was best to just do what he said. Pushing yourself off the door, you took small, timid steps into the light, keeping your gaze down on the floor. Awkwardly trying to figure out what you should do with your hands, you decided on clasping them in front of you, picking at the skin around your nails.
You could really feel his eyes on you now.
He looked you over for what felt like an eternity before he said something else, making your eyes flicker back up to him.
"There's no need to be shy, my dear," he said, sensing how nervous you were, "There's nothing to be concerned about. You know I would never harm you."
You wanted to snort out a laugh, but decided against it. Yes, he had never hurt you before, but you doubted it was out of his realm of capability.
Not knowing what to respond with, you simply just nodded, turning your attention back to your hands.
Shigaraki continued to stare at you for a good long while, his red eyes lingering on your cute face and nervous eyes.
Fucking hell you were just too adorable.
After a good second, All for One lifted up his hand, making you look up at him. He was holding his palm out to you, his usual smirk on his face.
"Come here." He said.
Shit, he was getting serious tonight.
Your cheeks tinting a faint pink, you forced your feet to raise up and make you walk across the room. Once you were close enough, you put your hand into his, watching it as it was nearly swallowed by the sheer size of his palm. Knowing exactly what he wanted, you slipped yourself in between his long, thick legs and sat back into his lap. Your side was nuzzled into the crook of his armpit, his strong arm wrapping itself around your waist to keep you in place. Just like he liked, you rested your head against All for One's shoulder, gently lying your hands across his broad chest. This seemed to please him greatly, since he put his other hand on your lower thigh, gently rubbing circles into the side of your knee with his thumb.
You must really be fucking insane.
Gently, Shigaraki pressed a gentle kiss into your hair, mumbling out a quiet good girl in the process.
You couldn't stop the pink dust from spreading across your cheeks.
"How was your day today, darling?" He asked you, the rumble of his voice in his chest loud in your ears.
You hummed before speaking.
"It was okay..." you said, feeling the hand on your side gently stroking up and down.
"You had a lot to do, didn't you?" He asked, making you glance up at him.
Of course he fucking knew about your goddamned errands and job.
"Yeah..." you said, "I was expecting to go back home and chill the rest of the night, but..."
Shigaraki let out a chuckle at this. You didn't have to finish your thought for him to know what you meant.
"Oh, I'm sorry, little one." He said, pressing another kiss to your temple, "I know you must be tired."
You nodded in response, maybe a bit too eagerly.
"I just couldn't bear another second without you, darling." He continued, tracing circles on your thigh this his pointer and middle finger, "I just had to have my special girl with me tonight."
You shifted your weight in his lap, looking up at him, "Did something happen?"
Shigaraki chuckled at this, reaching up and brushing the hair out of your face, "Let's just say I had some... family issues tonight, my dear."
Family?
Shigaraki had family?
This was definitely a first.
You couldn't help but to be nosy.
"Family?" you asked.
"Oh, nothing for you to be concerned about, my sweet girl." He said, leaning down to press a kiss to your forehead.
"You never told me you had family." You pressed, not wanting to let the subject go.
"You never needed to know, small one. Besides, it would be too dangerous for you to meet them anyhow."
"Dangerous?"
"There's a possibly they would try to take you from me."
"I highly doubt you would let that happen."
He chuckled, "As clever as always, my darling."
"What are their names?"
"Let's move on from his, my love."
"But I-"
"Are you hungry, dear? I can have someone fetch you something."
"Shigaraki, I just-"
"I said no."
A shiver went down your spine and you were quick to shut your mouth. You knew what that tone meant. It meant shut up or you get a punishment.
You always just chose to shut up.
Seemingly pleased at your compliance, Shigaraki assumed his usual smirk again and planted a kiss on your cheek, rubbing more small circles into your side.
"Have I told you how radiant you look tonight, my dear?" He asked you.
Not feeling in the mood to talk anymore, you just shook your head no.
"You always look gorgeous to me, my dear. Every single piece of you."
Pulling you closer to his chest, he lifted up your chin and looked deep into your eyes.
"My special girl. My favorite."
Closing the distance between the two of you, All for One pressed his lips to yours, stealing your breath away. His kisses were always just like him: strong, confident, and dominating.
Kissing Shigaraki always filled you with a whirling of emotions. Perhaps it was because you were tired that night, or perhaps it was because of the air, but you allowed yourself to fully enjoy his kiss. The feeling of his hands on you, the feeling of how small he made you feel, the feeling of his power radiating off his skin...
He always had this affect on you. When you were apart from him, you found it hard to love him.
But, when you were together...
you found it hard to stop.

Okay so i'm feeling pretty bad atm because my best friend replaced me and i need some fluffy rn. How about hcs for the reader being coldly abandoned by their previous best friend. Believing she is alone, she falls to her knees and cries outside in the middle of the rain. A moment later, she glances over to see Bakugou, Kirishima and Shinsou behind them trying their best to cover her from the rain with their jacket. Thank you♡

BAKUGOU KATSUKI
Tumblr media
your so called friend ended up ditching you
im going to throw hands literally
you end up leaving the café you have been waiting for her in, near tears, and as if it can’t get any worse, you have no ride home, so naturally, you are now walking whilst trying to keep from crying
you’re about half a mile from UA, the hill is visible in the distance and you are very relieved because you just wanna cry in your bed
then it starts to rain
so yeah it did get worse
out of frustration and the built up sadness, you just kinda start crying, coming to a stop and falling to a seat at the side of the road
you felt so alone, the one person you thought would always be around he replaced you
clearly they didn’t feel the same
meanwhile, katuski is running with his jacket above his head, cursing out the skies
and then he spots someone crying in the rain, he initially thinks nothing of it, until he realizes its you
the girl who he “begrudgingly” helped study on weekends, the one who he was up until 2AM with, even though he slept like a grandpa
now he’s cursing for a different reason, he comes over to you
he is gonna wanna kill someone when he finds out and tbh you should let him but thats just me
in the past, people have abandoned him due to his personality, and though it hurt in the moment, he got over it pretty quickly
and tbh, most of the time he had a little squad of jerks following him around so he didn’t really care abt anyone else.

Staring at the text she’d just recieved, Y/N let out a shaky breath, trying to compose herself. Her so called best friend wasn’t coming, and would never be coming again. Apparently she had better things to do than hangout with some wannabe hero. Blinking away the tears, Y/N stood making her way to the exit of the shop, she stepped outside.
She was beginning to regret ever leaving the UA campus, because at this point she’d much rather be crying in bed rather than in public. Y/N was suddenly grateful that the café was relatively close as she speedily walked down the sidewalk.
The one person she thought would be there for her through everything, through all the pain and joy and anything in between, was gone. Great.
At least it couldn’t get worse than this, she decided as she saw the UA Campus in the distance, relief flooding her as her pace quickened.
Then she saw lightning in the distance, thunder rattling in the sky, Y/N couldn’t help but wince. As water began to poor over her she paused her steps, exhaling deeply as she looked up at the sky.
Then the tears began to fall, a hand coming to her mouth to quiet the sobs escaping her as she fell to the ground, seating herself at the side of the road, Y/N felt her body shake as she tried to force herself to even out her breathing.
Meanwhile, Katsuki was cursing out the skies, he’ been on his way back from visiting his parents when it began to pour. Immediately bringing his jacket over his body to try and shield himself from the brunt of the rain as he ran through the now empty streets. Save for one shaking person on the side of the road, causing him to raise a brow at, it was pouring rain and they were just sitting there?
He slowed temporarily to try and get a better understanding of what was going on, only to realize he recognized the person. Y/N. His classmate, the one he begrudgingly tutored on the weekend, the one he cursed out when she forgot to eat, the one who kept him up until 2AM even though his bedtime was normally 9PM.
Katsuki grimaced, coming up behind her with his jacket overhead to try and shield her from the rain as he spoke, “what the hell are you doing out right now? You’re gonna get sick.”
Y/N jumped at the sudden voice behind her, though she knew it was Katsuki, she turned to see he was holding his jacket over the two of them, the red of her eyes a dead giveaway that she’d been crying. She couldn’t bring herself to speak as she looked up at him in shock. What was he doing here?
Katsuki’s face fell as his eyes scanned her for injuries, “who did this to you?” He wasn’t the best when it came to comfort, and he feared that would show as he began to interrogate her.
Blinking Y/N realized what she must’ve looked like, trying to shake off the feelings she was experiencing she spoke, “we should go.” Wiping the water from her face, she moved to stand, and Katuski moved with her, his eyes still on her face.
“Hold this side of the jacket.” He ordered, and she did as she was told, bringing one hand up to the left side of the jacket, which was now soaked in water and doing little to help. This action provided Katsuki with a freehand to put on the small of her back and push her forward rather aggressively. He lead them to a small grocery store on the street, pushing the door open.
They were dripping wet, and looking up at Katsuki, who had returned to interrogating her, Y/N couldn’t help it when more tears leaked out of her eyes and she lunged forwards to tackle him in a hug.
He quickly shut up, body stiffening momentarily before he allowed his hands to wrap around her waist and return the hug. “Thank you,” she mumbled, burying her head in his chest.
Brows furrowed, Katsuki scoffed, “yeah, yeah. Whatever.” He turned to the view the rest of the store, “pick out some food, I’ll cook you something when we get back.”
Looking up at him, her mouth gaped open, “are you serious?”
“Did I stutter, you idiot?”

okay so
kirishima definitely is gonna hound you with questions when he finds you crying
like he cannot allow his bb to cry
not that you know you are his bb but like
it would be unmanly of him to just leave you in such a state so he does his best to comfort you.
has likely never experienced something like this so he can’t really empathize with you but he’ll try
basically tries to make you smile and laugh the entire time you are upset
contemplates talking to the girls for help, but he doesn’t know if you want others involved
instead texts them how girls like to be treated when sad but in a very vague way and tries to pass it off as some obscure tik tok trend
they go along with it, thankfully, mina has a major obsesssion though so shes upset she didn’t know about this trend
thats how kirishima accidentally started a tik tok trend
will respectfully commit a murder
respectfully
i’ll help
least likely to acc go through with murder tho
he’s going to try his best
also goes the food route, based off his studies via the “tik tok trend” and he will gladly hold you

Exiting the convenience store with a plastic bag of candy in hand, Kirishima sighed. He’d been out longer than anticipated, and it was already getting dark. The grey clouds above signaling the possibility of rain, Kirishima grimaced, he needed to get back to UA quickly.
He’d intended to have a movie night with the rest of the Bakusquad that night, and maybe even invite Y/N. He’d been trying to work up the courage to finally ask her out, but it hadn’t been going well. He didn’t feel very manly each time he chickened out, and Kaminari’s teasing didn’t help at all, escaping him was the main reason Kirishima agreed to pick up the candy that day.
Sighing, Kirishima continued to walk, though the rain came faster, pouring down onto him as he groaned in annoyance, hoping that it wouldn’t damage his snacks as he pulled his jacket off to provide himself with some cover. Though it wasn’t very helpful, it was better than nothing.
He begins to speed up, jogging slightly when he notices someone on the curb, seated. Kirishima frowns, moving behind them and bringing his jacket over them, “hey, what are you doing?” Considering how much it was raining now, and the sound of the thunder overhead, he figured the storm that was coming would only get worse. Being outside was the worst idea. And as a hero in training, he simply couldn’t allow this action.
The mysterious person turns around, and Kirishima suddenly realizes its his classmate, his frown only deepening when he sees her swollen eyes. “Kirishima? She says, confusion clear in her tone as she looks up at him, eyes wide. They knew each other fairly well, though he could be shy at times, he was fun, and nice. And of course, rather respectful during all their interactions, she liked him.
Kirishima pauses before finding himself sitting beside her in the pouring rain and allowing the water to hit him as he lowered his jacket, pulling a candy bar from his bag. “What’s wrong?” He asked, extending the candy to her. Though it would likely react poorly should she open it and the candy came in contact with the rain, it was the thought that counted.
Y/N’s mouth gaped open as she smiled sadly at him, taking the candy bar from him, “thank you.” She whispered, “it doesn’t really matter anymore, though.” She looks up at the sky, water cascading down her face as she inahles deeply.
Suddenly, Kirishima’s hand is in hers, “it’s bothering you, so obviously it matters.” He tugs her hand to get her to stand up alongside him, “and it wouldn’t be very manly of me to leave a pretty lady out in the rain.”
A laugh escaped Y/N at this, “and I could never force a handsome man like yourself to stay out in rain.” Comes her reply, “let’s go.”
She wasn’t alone. Not while she had him.

shinsou hitoshi

WELL
definitely the best at comforting someone especially with something like this
feeds you sweets because food makes everything better, will be affectionate just for this instance because he knows you just want some love during this time
the best to talk to about it tbh, he’s very good at giving advice and listening to your problems
i feel like shinsou has probably experienced something similar in the past and he’s gonna understand what you are feeling
won’t try to make you open up but you’ll want to, he has a comforting presence
very calm about it, gently speaks with you and guides your actions, makes sure you take care of yourself if you are in a really bad place
once you’ve stopped crying he’ll ask you what happened and should you tell him he’ll honestly be VERY mad
like why would someone do that to an ANGEL like YOU???
is genuinely confused and potentially in a murderous mood
and he has the quirk to get away with it
wants to go off on this person though, desperately, and should he ever run into them they are going to get a piece of his mind
a really really mean piece of his mind

Shinsou frowned as he felt a droplet of water fall onto his head, realizing that rain would likely come soon, he picked up the pace of his walk. He’d been out at the bookstore, and was suddenly grateful that he hadn’t bought anything as he watched everyone in the shopping center begin to retreat to their cars and into shops.
He watched a lightning flashed in the distance, brows furrowing at the realization that a storm was coming when thunder accompanied the sight and pouring rain soon followed. UA wasn’t far, but he didn’t really want to have to run in the rain up the hill the school had been built upon.
Turning a corner, his eyes scanned the area in search of a shop he could wait out the storm in when they fell on the figure of someone seated in the rain, no umbrella or hood to protect them from the downfall, and their body shaking.
Then he recognized the hoodie. It was his actually, and he knew exactly who he’d lent it to.
Y/N L/N. The pretty girl in the hero course who’d threatened anyone who spoke poorly of him, defending his honor even though he never asked. She was always kind to him, even when they weren’t the closest of friends. Though that had changed, the pair now talking almost daily about a variety of things, something Shinsou was grateful for.
Questions flood his mind as he removes his jacket and brings it above him, going over to her, and when he’s close enough he can hear her small sobs, barely muffled by the palm of her hand. Shinsou can’t help but feel concerned as he brings his jacket above her to shield her from the rain, “hey, let’s go.” He mumbles gently.
Y/N looks up at him, her eyes red and puffy, and if it weren’t pouring Shinsou would’ve hugged her right there. “What are you doing?” When she’d simply collapsed in the rain, her emotions overwhelming her, she hadn’t assumed Shinsou would randomly appear.
“Getting you out of the rain.” Came his response, “come on, we can wait out the storm in the café.” Shinsou would’ve extended a hand had he not be preoccupied by holding up his jacket, which was now soaking through.
Sniffing, she nodded, “yeah, you’re right.” She stands, and he follows her movements, jacket never leaving her figure as the pair makes their way to the door of the café. Y/N pushes the door open, and they both enter, allowing him to finally put the jacket above his head down, though it started soaking onto the floor.
He threw it outside, much to Y/N’s shock, “I don’t wanna dirty the floor.” Shinsou explained nonchalantly, his purple hair sticking to his forehead. “Have you eaten?”
“Sorry about your hoodie.” She mumbled, at they moved out of the way of the entrance.
Raising a brow, he extended a hand, “that didn’t answer my question.”
Y/N’s brows furrowed as she looked to his hand, tilting her head in confusion as she placed her hand into his, Shinsou gave her a small smile before leading her to the line of the café as she replied, “no. I didn’t.”
His brows draw together as she looks at her, she seems resigned, quieter than normal. “How about a muffin then? Or maybe a cupcake?” He peers into the display window, squinting at the variety of foods. “I say cupcakes,” In his experience, sugary foods always made things better, to an extent at least.
Giving him a tight lipped smile, she nodded, “sure.” He was trying. It was better than nothing if she was honest. Considering the fact that her best friend had abandoned her today, it was a nice reminder, that she wasn’t alone. She had other people, regardless of what had happened.
Shinsou’s eyes met hers as he sighed, bringing his free hand to the back of his neck, “you wanna talk about it?” He knew they’d have to address it at some point, there was no denying that she had clearly been crying, something had upset her.
Shaking her head, Y/N pulled him closer using their joined hands and brought him into a hug, “not right now.” It was an oddly intimate moment, despite the fact that they were in public.
Regardless, he pulls her tightly against him, wrapping his arms around her protectively as he responds, “alright.

Pretty Boy Detective Club
When this got announced I laughed at the title then I saw Nisioisin for original creator and Akiyuki Shinbo on direction and it went from being a total joke to like, one of my most anticipated shows of the season.
And yeah no it totally lived up to my unexpected hype. I don’t think I had any specific expectations other than hoping the dialogue was fun and it was visually interesting. It was both of those things to the max.
There’s just a lot of entertaining wit to all of the dialogue, especially since Mayumi Doujima – our perspective character – is a bit of a sassy fucking asshole, she’s a real treat to listen to. Strong vocal performance helps her too. Trust me to latch the most onto the one girl character in a show called Pretty Boy Detective Club, huh. Note that the boys are all pretty great too.
And then as for visuals, I really cannot even fucking begin to describe how amazing this show looks. It’s probably the most visually interesting and exciting anime I’ve ever seen? It depends on your tastes to a large extent – certainly the show is more impressive for art than animation even if that animation is still pretty great – but if you’re into shows that are as fucky and experimental and crazy as they can possibly be, finding new art styles every episode and with direction that’s constantly keeping you visually engaged, yeah this show’s for you.
And just to top that all off, the music is also absolutely amazing. There are so many memorable and fun tracks for every occasion and hearing these compositions is the absolute cherry on top of the rest of its strengths.
I don’t even feel like I have too much else to say tbf. The themes are fairly spelled out for us but they’re far from what I was enjoying the show for even if they’re still nice, the plots are generally always really creative and enjoyable even if I didn’t feel like they were worth that much as mysteries, and the last episode functioning as a soft recap was kinda disappointing – but again you fall in love with this show because it’s an audiovisual masterpiece and the rest if just cute bonus fluff for the hell of it.
Funimation’s subs for this show were abysmal so looking forward to rewatching whenever a good group picks it up.
Zombie Land Saga Revenge
Season fucking 2 baby!!!! It’s only been 3 years.
I haven’t read my original review of ZLS in ages and have no idea how it holds up at all, so while most of what I’m gonna say will probs be in relation to how this holds up against season 1 I have no idea if my season 1 thoughts are particularly well documented.
But anyway season 2 is both better and worse than season 1, wildin. Obviously looks a lot better, especially the CGI has had a great glowup, and a good amount of the songs are probably better than season 1 as well, idk I’m so exposed to s1’s music that it’s hard to say atm. Plus we have a clearer focus this season in theory, and particularly the last few episodes work really well compared to how season 1 approached its ending.
Guess the problem though is this season has quite a lot of fairly mid episodes? Episode 1 was a nice return to form but some moments down the line make it odd in retrospect; episode 2 was just kinda eh that didn’t do loads for anyone’s character, particularly its “focus” character Saki almost feels untouched in it; episode 3 is an okay setup episode but still eh; episode 5 doesn’t do a lot for Lily’s character despite being the focus; 8 and 9 are a Yuugiri “focus” arc that spends more time on some forgettable fucko than it does Yuugiri and what happened in them only needed an episode; and episode 10 is almost a recap out of nowhere? Like it’s not a recap but it almost just retells episode 1 from a very drawn out perspective that’s not in service of anything ig. Idk.
Most of those episodes were still at least good tbf tho and the season still has a lot of real banger episodes – 4 cemented Junko as my absolute favourite and had the best actual live show in the series; 6 was just hilarious and endearing as all fucking hell; 7 was probably the funniest episode of anime I’ve ever seen and did an excellent job introducing us to a brand new character, completely endearing us to her, and giving her a great sendoff that’s in service of the main cast as well; and then 11 and 12 are a really great end to the season that do well by every character.
Season 2 does a lot of work in service of making Saga itself feel like a very living place. Lots of season 1 minor characters return in different situations having had nice off-screen arcs and there are plenty of new faces that are instantly endearing as well – what Saga means to the people living there is actually explored which feels fucking great and I really appreciated being actually invested in their specific goal.
The whole “Revenge” part of the title was… meh. I like what they’re going for – give a clear narrative and thematic goal for the sake of the sequel season – though despite mentioning their EFS failure a bunch and how much they want their revenge, it feels kind of undercooked. Like, it’s mentioned but that’s it, it doesn’t really feel like it informs their actions much though. Not really bothered by it but it did feel a bit wasted.
Iffy on how indulgent in the supernatural this is getting. “Ever seen a zombie movie?” was enough for me – immortal old bartenders bringing back the dead and predicting disasters such as alien attacks is like… it’s not like I can’t suspend my disbelief or anything, guess I’m just too idolpilled? There was a s3 hook and I imagine it sold well so maybe I’d end up enjoying where it goes and eat my words here.
Guess a TL;DR really is just what I said near the start of both better and worse than season 1. Kinda disappointing since you obviously want a sequel to be even better, but happy to be able to say it’s not just straight up worse.
Junko best girl.
Odd Taxi
Pretty quick and easy show to sum up the appeal of. Odd Taxi sits within the ranks of such shows as Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for being a narrative consisting of basically a massive interconnected web of different characters with different personalities and different motives interacting with one another and shaking up that entire web with every exchange and decision they make.
I actually don’t even feel like I have loads more to say than that. That description of what the show fundamentally is kind of just is the key appeal for me. Every single character is engaging to watch and they all have very realistic behaviours and reactions to everything that goes on. We get a pretty thorough understanding of who every individual in the show is and how they operate and how they influence one another even though half of them don’t even know each other.
It’s also very good as a mystery anime, obviously has loads of moving pieces to begin with and seeing and hearing people theorise throughout was satisfying. Probs will rewatch – potentially more than once – just to catch it all.
Episode about gacha guy was one of the best written things I’ve seen in anime. This show has pretty fucking godly dialogue but this episode especially, god damn.
When I saw Odokawa’s design I had no idea how Natsuki fucking Hanae would do such a character. Feel bad underestimating the dude – he killed it.
OP was cummable.
Ending is sorta eh? It’s a good end point for sort of the main plot and I think it does its big reveal moment well. But for lots of the characters it’s basically just “they have a happy ending now” even if it doesn’t feel like their arc reached that point. I still enjoyed it but I guess it was kind of underwhelming compared to the rest of the show.
Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita
Hence just Killing Slimes.
I watched Spider Isekai for Aoi Yuuki. It was shit and disappointing and she wasn’t in it enough. This was looking to be my Aoi Yuuki fix to fill that void. It did so much more than that.
In terms of Aoi Yuuki I’ve got loads of her in here. She sings the OP and it’s great fun - I could never get enough of it. And beyond that she’s the protagonist – Azusa is a super endearing character with a mad respectable approach to life, she encourages everyone to commit as hard as possible to a good work-life balance, overexerting yourself is not a fucking option. Based. And of course she’s a treat to listen to. Not quite as chaotic or loud as I tend to favour from Aoi Yuuki but tbf this performance fits the show like a glove.
On that note this show is basically just Yuri Harem Family Iyashikei: The Animation. There are only girls, all the adults are very in love with each other, all the kids are just the most innocent adorable fuckers ever, it’s got a huge constantly expanding cast and I felt like I had a brand new favourite character every episode, it was fucking brilliant.
Tbh right, art style isn’t quite the cutest in the world. But the show’s overall tone and presentation and concept and vibe is so fucking adorable and happy and comfy and fun that the show feels cuter than it actually is? I’ve seen shows with cuter artwork than this that feel less cute anyway because they just don’t hit that vibe as well. It’s wild.
Btw don’t take what I just said as a slight against the visuals at all – this show actually has more than one choreographed fight scene with like, pretty fucking good animation. Again not the most impressive in the world but directed so well as to really feel the action and excitement – Azusa taking on like a dozen dragons actually gets to look fucking badass, it’s great.
I mean if feelgood yuri harem/family sounds appealing to you you’ve already seen and loved this show. If that’s not for you, get the fuck out my life.
Godzilla: S.P.
Despite enjoying all like, 2 other kaiju anime I’ve seen, I’m not really a kaiju guy at all. And I was initially gonna pass on this for that reason. Like, I don’t care about Godzilla lol.
However, the combination of a Bones and Orange production alongside primarily me seeing a visual with all the character designs persuaded me to give it a chance. Do not regret it whatsoever.
To get the execution of what drew me in out of the way – this show looks absolutely fucking fantastic. The art style is deceptively distinctive and extremely easy on the eyes + animates really well on the 2D front; and the 3D is as high quality as you’d expect from Orange – high quality models with really clean and natural animations that still befit the kaiju we’re seeing. I do think when you see the 2D and 3D in the same shot they don’t feel completely in the same environment – but the execution is still better than a lot of other shows and hey tbf you can blame it on the kaiju being otherworldly anyway lol. Also the character designs are just absolutely fucking amazing. Every single recurring character of which there are many has a very distinct design – sameface doesn’t exist – and so much is communicated about everyone via their design, they’re all hella aesthetically pleasing, just makes it a very lovely show to look at.
Then in terms of narrative and pretty much the remainder of the show feel since this is a very dialogue driven experience – the main thing I can say is the same comparison I use all the time. Have you ever found yourself reading wiki pages for stuff you know nothing about, or watching several YouTube videos for a topic you otherwise had no interest in? Going down a suggested videos rabbit hole and learning a whole bunch of shit you’d never learn otherwise but just these videos are so good in their presentation that you become engaged anyway? Yeah you forget or can’t even truly process the info because of how complicated it is, but you really enjoyed the ride anyway? That’s what watching this anime is like. The dialogue is so informed by a bunch of scientific – particularly theoretical physics – jargon that I never actually felt like I totally knew what was going on. And yet I loved every single second of everything I was watching regardless. You may not understand anything about this wild ride but it’s so fucking fun that who gives a shit? That’s what watching this show is like.
I genuinely don’t have much else to add lol. I watched this with Moyai fansubs and they were really high effort – since I know them from Mewkledreamy anyway I was excited to see how they’d manage this and they did swell.
Mei best girl.
I even found the kaiju shit genuinely cool, particularly when the titular big guy himself appears there are lots of really striking and memorable action shots. Cool time.
SSSS.Dynazenon
Hey our second kaiju show of the day! And some sort of loosely related Gridman follow-up too – that show was a completely unexpected treat for me so I was really looking forward to seeing what Dynazenon would have in store.
Right off the bat I want to clarify that I’ve not seen Gridman since it aired and didn’t rewatch at all so I can’t deny my memory being a little fuzzy, and everything I say in relation to it should be taken with a grain of salt.
So for our first Gridman comparison I’m not fully confident in – I think Dynazenon is probably better on average. I think Gridman reaches higher highs overall – particularly with regards to how Akane’s written – but it didn’t always use its time amazingly and could get pretty repetitive, alongside Yuta not being much of a character. Dynazenon opts for a more consistent tone and story structure; and with gradual status quo shifts and character development as well it puts great work into feeling as good on the last episode as it did the first.
Kind of the key area in which it’s beating Gridman for me as well as being a really strong show in general is in its character writing – Dynazenon has perhaps some of the most down to earth, relatable and human characters I’ve seen in anime. Every single recurring character (sans poor old Chise) is very thoroughly explored and extensive depth is given to their characterisation. We know exactly what makes everyone tick and what pushes them forward or holds them back. They’re all pretty damn flawed individuals but not even all of them want to improve – it’s really grounded despite the odd denpa atmosphere and uh, giant monster shit going on.
Helping said cast is what I’m just gonna describe as the best all around cast performance I have ever heard in a show. Every single word delivered by all these VAs for even the most minor characters is so specifically and carefully delivered and just feels so, intimate and human? Like you can fully feel everything going on in a character’s mind at the same time as whatever front they’re projecting just based on the strength of the deliveries alone. And it’s a genuinely constant feeling of this – it’s not a show with voice acting normal enough to not notice until the big explosive moments where you’re like “wow that was great” – it is literally 12 straight episodes of a show where you hold on to the sound of every single delivery because of how masterfully delivered they all are. I really can’t overstate how fucking fantastic these vocal performances are – it’s a really huge part as to what makes this show’s characters so fucking impressive. It’s gonna take a lot to surpass this for me.
I do think there are some areas in which Dynazenon needed improvement though – it kind of ends too quickly with some resolutions feeling sped up in a sense – particularly Chise’s arc basically just stops early on and then she’s given an ending anyway. And it’s a weird issue since like, the show could remedy it if it didn’t spend so much time just kinda doing repetitive mecha stuff. But I actually adore the repetitive mecha stuff – it’s a show for which the deliberate and slow pacing builds atmosphere really well. And yet it’s also at the expense of some arcs. I don’t want the show to change the pacing for those arcs but I don’t want those arcs to stop. Guess I just wanted a few more episodes, maybe?
I pretty much liked everything else, lots of “holy shit giant robots are cool” moments which are quite difficult to get out of me, music was really great, show as a whole has a real great style and episode 11 especially is beautiful, some other praises. Watch Dynazenon.
Super Cub
I kinda meme got excited for Super Cub in a server based off of nothing specific, though the very washed out colours of the PV had me curious about what sort of show Super Cub was going to be. I think I just expected “cute girls doing cute things but on motorbikes”. What I got was something so much more unique than that.
Super Cub is a very specific breed of iyashikei. The classical piano soundtrack is grand yet simple, the colours muted, dialogue exceptionally minimal. It’s lonely. Minimalistic. Devoid of gags. For much of its runtime Super Cub genuinely is just getting simple satisfaction from seeing a lonely girl find a small bit of happiness with her brand new Honda Super Cub.
It shouldn’t need to be said just based on the type of person I am, but yeah I was absolutely in love with this.  Super Cub is a show that finds so much comfort in solitude and to that end it’s an absolutely perfect show to just put on when you’re just vibing by yourself. You know, the shit I live for.
Super Cub also benefits from being a show where the gimmick of “colour coming back into my dull world” trope thing isn’t done horribly. Every show I’ve seen do that tries to always be the most beautiful colourful show ever and only shows the washed out stuff as like POV for its MC only whenever it’s relevant. Super Cub meanwhile is near permanently washed out and only gains more vibrant colours whenever Koguma is happy – sometimes it’s only just for a few seconds. Lots of thought and care goes into the direction and the vibe the show wants to convey, it’s really great.
Helping Super Cub further is that it’s not just Koguma the Adorable going on bike trips or whatever. Like it’s predominantly that but it works in service of giving her genuine character arcs – like the show actually has some 3 episode arc structures and I’d say for a good majority of the show those arcs are actually fantastic.
Where Super Cub starts to go a bit more wrong for me though unfortunately is with the introduction of Reiko. She’s kind of the opposite of what I loved about the show. She’s loud. Bombastic. Constantly quipping. Good for Koguma getting friends ig but it feels like the first 3 episodes were the start of the show being a 10/10 for me and Reiko being the start of that score going down. Despite this, the next 3 episodes are still really solid.
Where it goes even more wrong for me is with the introduction of girl 3 – Shii. Shii basically exists to shill some weird westaboo foodie café jokes and have someone simp for Koguma for no real reason. She’s genuinely annoying and since this is also the part of the show where Koguma turns into a bit of an asshole (which I don’t not like but she was better before so) by this point I’d felt like the Super Cub I fell in love with was being replaced with some kinda boring iyashikei full of café scenes. Shii also gives us the one straight up bad episode with episode 11 – which is melodramatic unrealistic tasteless garbage.
For all that though I do want to say that the majority of the show is just lovely OST, minimal dialogue, beautiful background art cute girls with great expressions and a really distinctive yet cute and appealing art style being iyashikei. What made Super Cub so special is lost tragically quickly, but most of why it’s still very good is retained for the bulk of its runtime. I wish it had been more consistent, but I’m very glad to say I’m still not disappointed by how Super Cub turned out.
Mini Dragon
Mini Dragon isn’t a thing that lends itself to too much discussion. Pretty much 60-ish second episodes of Maid Dragon – a show with kind of a skit structure anyway, so this doesn’t feel like too little time or anything.
What actually else do I say about this lol. I love Maid Dragon. This is Maid Dragon. It’s fantastic.
Shadows House
I’m not gonna lie – of everything that survived the great dropping of this season, this seemed to be the show that was hanging on by the thinnest thread. I found parts of the first 4 or 5 episodes interesting, and I like the vibe of the show – good visuals and music at all times with nice character designs too. But I was also pretty bored a lot of the time, and found myself only holding on because of faint hopes that it’d turn into some cool show about uncovering and dismantling a big corrupt system thing. I do like that type of thing so.
Fortunately from like episode 5 or 6 onwards – basically whenever the debut started and characters began taking direct action and actually being thrust directly into its systems, I started having fun. Cool mystery, cool character dynamics, cool reveals, the systems being propagated are realistic and not cartoonishly evil within the confines of the world and the young revolutionaries rising against it feel just in doing so as well.
I don’t actually have too much else to say about this show – it got off to a slow start hinting at greater potential, and then just worked to realise that potential in a fine way. It’s not the most impressive show in the world – like I’ve got it at 7/10 for a reason – but it sure was fun enough to convince me to keep watching in a season where I dropped the overwhelming majority of what I was watching. I’d say that’s pretty worthy of respect. I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it but if somebody asked if it’s worth watching I’d be very happy to tell them “yes”.
Emilico is cute.
Yakunara Mug Cup mo
I also got meme excited for this – except unlike Super Cub this show stayed a meme for its entire runtime.
Mug is bad in a really specific and fascinating way. It appears to be a cute girls doing cute things show – its gimmick being pottery to shill its town. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Mug is a sports slice of life drama and character study, - about a girl who gets into a hobby where everyone outclasses her and she’s constantly failing to live up to the expectations placed on her due to her prodigal mother, who’s long passed away. The person she most wants support from is her dad but he struggles to give it to her for the simple fact that she’s just not great at pottery. The support from her friends doesn’t do anything from her because she can see with her own eyes the skill difference between herself and them. It’s honestly a deeply tragic narrative. Other than the part where it’s uh, so fucking hard to care about lol.
Mug is boring beyond description, like other than the occasional really good shot and also that one episode where they dream some funky fantastical Japanese mythos shit, it’s basically only appealing in so far as viewing it as what I described above, that sports tragedy thing. But it still kinda wants to be a cute girls doing cute things show first? But the other girls are so forgettable and barely even have character traits. They just… exist.
I do think a combination of my meme hype for this show and the tragedy angle are what keep it as high as a 4 for me, but yeah no I wouldn’t recommend this unless you very specifically want to see something exactly like this.
Season 2 got announced the instant the show ended and you already know it’s in my Fall ptw lol.
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Churutto
It’s Yuki Yuna chibi shorts.
80 second episodes.
Characters from across all the various Yuusha de Aru series – suffice to say as an anime only I did not know who anyone was.
Some VAs I really liked.
Jokes were actually okay sometimes, and hey episodes didn’t drag that much.
Still not really for me lol.
Mewkledreamy Mix
Man…
“oh yeah I loved season 1 I’d totally watch another year of this” I managed 6 episodes.
Mix is just boring. It’s not funny, it dials up the stock animation by tenfold, it also has a lower target age range by about a tenfold as well, Akki’s fucking annoying, my darling Yuni-sama was barely in it, I just found extremely little to appreciate here.
Fumetsu no Anata e
Yeah so I and lots of others were really looking forward to this because it’s by the Koe no Katachi manga originally and has a damn appealing sounding premise. Think I expected it to be a traveller show at some point but I did have the fact that it’s more arc-driven told to me in advance, so it’s not like I went in with the wrong expectations, but… it was just real fucking boring lol.
Made it 3 episodes in? I thought the first one was about the best possible execution of what a fairly standard first episode it was, but it was still kinda eh for me. Technically flawless but didn’t exactly grip me.
Next 2 episodes just kept that feeling up but with like 3 minutes of recap at the start of each episode, and being even less engaging than that already meh first episode was. I really was in “fuck anything that bores you” mood this season so just stopped wanting to put up with this.
Ijirinaide, Nagatoro-san
Tbh the one episode of this I watched was like, decently fun. I guess I’m the type of person that can enjoy seeing a kinky simp get bullied to shit by some asshole girl. Except I don’t think I’m enough of that to want to watch 12 episodes of said content.
People will move on from this show very quickly so fuck the culture currently surrounding it lol.
Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou.
I actually greatly enjoyed the 5 episodes of this I watched. It’s a refreshingly optimistic show that preaches self-love, self-respect, and recovery above all else, which are principles I can hardcore get behind, so I appreciated that a lot. Also main dude’s insistent on the fact that he’s not a good person and Sayu’s just had her standards warped by lots of bad people, and yeah I respect that humble normalcy of his as well.
Thing is I kinda think I got all the good I was going to get out of the show at that point – everything I liked was already happening and how thy were going about that didn’t seem to be changing. But they set up a love triangle! And I fucking hate those. So basically just dropped because yeah, don’t need to see more of the good, don’t enjoy what I’m already expecting to be bad.

God tryna remember how I felt about this show even.
I finished episode 1 and basically decided that nothing that it was setting up or doing interested me even remotely, I guess?
Also they tried to make MC moe and have her uwu anime girl uwu moments which felt real tonally jarring from what seemed to want to be a serious military drama with some real basic allegories huh.
Found it dumb that MC was the one and only not racist person in this city wow.
Everyone having white hair got me a bit excited though.
Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song
Yeah I made it 5 episodes into this?
It was doing a setup episode -> payoff episode structure I got bored of real fucking quickly. I forgot details from setup episodes and then had zero interest in any of the happenings in payoff episodes so, really was nothing for me there.
Also found Vivy and her teddy’s dynamic unbearable, they have zero chemistry or banter, she hardly feels like she’s even talking to him, there’s some timeskip real early on that glosses over some interesting things this show could be doing, and apparently a recent thing happened that basically cancelled out everything the show already did so by god am I glad I dropped lol.
Dialogue wasn’t very good but I’m glad the bear spoke quick enough to not test my patience that much.
The animation is pretty great and the pretty shots are real pretty, but tbh the pretty shots worked against the show because they’re just so high detail compared to the normal look of the show that it becomes fucking jarring.
I don’t remember anything else worth saying.
Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy
Made it 5 minutes into this. It was painfully bland and uninspired. I hated it.
Mars Red
Yeah so episode 1 of this show, right. Was fucking brilliant. Just a masterfully directed tonally excellent visually distinctive and appealing piece with fantastic voice acting and a really top tier execution on a seemingly standard premise. Other than that one vampire boy being real generic and dull I had zero problems with this episode and was thoroughly impressed. If it was just that it’d have been like an 8 or even a 9 out of 10. Realise that was just a bunch of positive adjectives in a row but like, man I enjoyed that first episode a lot.
Episode 2 was probably the hardest episode to finish of anything this season. I wasn’t even tired when I started watching it yet it nearly put me to sleep several times, like I was fucking fighting to stay awake during it. It was nightmarishly boring and a gigantic disappointment after how much I loved the first episode. Pretty easy drop then.
Jouran: The Princess of Snow and Blood
Dropped after 2 episodes.
Tbh was really looking forward to this because it looks cool as fuck and also all the Raise A Suilen involvement, but me oh my this show was hard to watch.
Tbh it kinda felt like starting a 24 episode show from episode 13. The show acts as though everything’s already been established and we already know what’s going on, so we should appropriately be surprised at all these twists and turns and double agents and whatnot. But we just don’t.
There are a lot of shows that are very much fully indulgent in their own world, and it can work out for the better. This was not such a case.
Sayounara Watashi no Cramer
Well documented fact about me is that I fucking hate Your lie in April with a passion and it is uncontested in its position as the worst anime I’ve ever seen. Cramer comes close!
So yeah naturally hating YliA so much I tried to hatewatch Cramer as well – I mean hey it has my literal first and second favourite seiyuu as its lead characters, that’s at least something?
I think in the 2 episodes of Cramer I watched it managed to do literally zero things well and literally everything else at just about the worst level imaginable, holy shit. It’s transcendentally bad at everything to a degree to where I’m at a loss for words in even describing it.
TL;DR one of the worst things I’ve ever had the misfortune of watching and not even funny bad enough to get beyond episode 2.
Blue Reflection Ray
I was excited for this because of magical girls but it was boring and ugly :(
Half-respect this show anyway, primarily because I have a friend who likes it but I also feel like it definitely feels like something from a different era without necessarily feeling dated? Like there was risk in letting this show happen but staff wanted to make it happen anyway.
Didn’t pay off because nobody in the west cares and nobody in Japan cares and the BD’s production has been cancelled which isn’t something you hear every day.
Tbh I could hypothetically see me picking this up again, if only for that one friend, but yeah nothing about it compelled me to enjoy it.
Anyway yeah that’s anime so
Anime of the Season - Pretty Boy Detective Club
Tumblr media
Feel like I said just about everything I love about this show so, yeah.
Girl of the Season - Mayumi Doujima
Tumblr media
Actually kinda tough choosing between her and Koguma but Mayumi’s a lot more likeable for a lot more of the show so.
Boy of the Season - Hiroshi Odokawa
Tumblr media
Tbh I like him for similar reasons as I do Mayumi - it’s the wit, the demeanour, though in his case he’s like 40 and jaded and cynical. Both are fun all the same.
Anyway that’s it! My Season in Review for Spring! Took longer to make than any other oops, not for any specific reason other than just me taking my sweet time lol. Hope y’all enjoy the read uwu.
