In this post on the Insider Gaming article and this post on the Reddit screenshot etc leaks (spoiler warning for DA:D at links), I mentioned comments made by possible playtesters/similar folks on Reset Era from October 2022. since I referenced them and many people don't use that site, I thought I'd belatedly collect them here for reference. under a cut in case of DA:D spoilers -

first, the usual set of disclaimers that should be kept in mind with all leaks: might not be real, unable to verify at present, sometimes leakers think they’re right about things but are unintentionally incorrect or got some wires crossed, games change a fair bit between development phases and final release, take with grain of salt etc.

User: "Important to remember that this doesn’t mean the game is anywhere close to release. Still plenty to do and plenty that will be changed between now and release." Possible playtester or person who has otherwise seen or heard about the game (hereafter notating these users as "PP" for brevity): "At the very least I like the gameplay direction they are taking is better than the previous games, and they have a clear direction of where they want this game to go. Although I have always preferred actions rpgs, and am looking forward to the inspiration they took for combat." - PP2: "Folks should be excited but also expect a smaller scale game, plenty of people on the team have 'complained' that it doesn't feel AAA in scope." [...] "I would say just dont go in expecting something other WRPG are producing in terms of game size...if that makes sense lol" - User: "Totally fine, it sounds like it's gonna be a better version of Dragon Age 2, with fleshed out city + surroundings" PP1: "This is not a good description of DAD." - User: "For the love of the Maker, bring back the Darkspawn." PP1: "They did." - User: "I haven't been paying attention. Are they bringing back tactics, or are they leaning more towards the awesome button?" PP2: "They're leaning toward God of War/ Mass Effect over the shoulder combat." - User: "is it open world or splitted in several areas?" PP1: "Only saw certain linear zones, but whether it is all DAO/2 style zones or mixed open and linear zones like DAI is up in the air. I would prefer the latter with less grinding required to progress like everyone else of course." - User: "That's a bit disapointing, but as long as they have a coherent direction, it's still better than the last 2 game's attempt at spliting the baby in twain" PP1: "GOW 2018 style melee, so not mash button for success but timing, combos, mixing up skills, and playing on your build/skill strengths." - User: "ok but I need Knight Enchanter mage or gish equivalent" PP1: "I think with each class you choose at the beginning you can end up with three subclasses." - User: "Was what you played still party-based?" PP1: "Party commands were disabled, so how much control you have is also an unknown." -

User: "Does one [class] include a magical archer, something beyond the Tempest specialization in scope?" PP1: "Well my base class was a warrior type so there was no access to ranger or mage types, but the warrior does have a magic subclass." - User: "Oh wild lol. I thought this kind of stuff is usually under lots of NDA or something similar" PP1: "It is, helps that no one has leaked screenshots or footage." - User: "I figure you can’t say exactly when it happened, but given your mention of party commands being disabled, it guess it happened after the report of last year about the game shifting to a full SP experience, correct? It seems the action-based gameplay that was lightly teased by some devs before remained even when the game shifted to SP, given your impressions." PP1: "Yes, any part I have seen of the game was after that. This part is speculation, if they have open zones like DAI they can still pull off a live service similar to the last three AC games and it would have no effect on people strictly coming to the game for the story. I would even go as far as saying this might be positively received if they only have cosmetic BPs and mtx." - User: "I think dlcs of various forms, from story to outfits/weapon will still happen; even before, when the game was mentioned to be a live service one, they used DAO as something that already fit that definition. The game won’t go beyond that scope in terms of ‘live service’ though, given how much they’re starting DreadWolf is a full SP experience. Interestingly, from the blog update and the lead developer afterwards, ME seems to follow the same path." PP1: "Yeah I think dlc in terms of story expansions are a lock. If they ever want to tread the live service waters again, there is a great template for them to follow." - User: "the neon colored logo has me thinking this might go a very different direction than typical fantasy" PP1: "Not really." - PP1: "The second one [DAII] was quite literally hold a button to attack since the game was easy. The new one is not at all like that." - User: "Or if Dreadwolf even has a party-based system?" PP1: "Yes"

Notes: Posts from October 2022. Some of the stuff said is corroborated by the Reddit leak (e.g. no control of party members at timepoint when game was played, the part of the game that was made available to test being a linear zone). in some places PPs are speculating. and ofc screenshots/a bit of footage has now leaked on Reddit the other day.

Synopsis: Kyojuro asks about your conviction and reason for wanting to marry him so badly.

Chapter Author Notes: The soundtrack for this chapter goes well with lover's oath, once it finishes you can play this. Also going by the events that would unfold, i think it fits. Though I'm thinking twice about it purely because I want to write my Zhongli fic revolving around that soundtrack and i dont want to reuse songs but aaa it's so good

Chapter 2 « Chapter 3 (Current) » Chapter 4

When you were a child, as far as you could remember, your mother would always tell you to act appropriately so that you could marry and be happy with a husband that would take care of you. But to do that, you must behave in many a-certain ways to appease them and make them choose you among the many other girls. But every time she brushed your hair, telling you of your responsibilities, you cried and whined. You thought she was a very traditional woman now that you’ve grown a little older.

Already giving you pointers, grooming you to be the ideal woman, just as her mother did to her. For a while, you didn’t protest, it was all normal, and you had no views of the world. But after a few more years, you started developing a liking towards running around your village, meeting friends, and playing with them while that ‘play’ turned into roughhousing that would get you home in trouble for dirtying your pretty kimono once again. At first, your mother would be gentle, but as it kept repeating, her frustration bubbled up, and she would start being truthful.

“You’ll never be happy this way. No one would like you!”

“Stop hanging out with those poor boys. You’re destined for much greater.”

“You soiled your kimono again? Stop being such a burden.”

You’d feel anger, sadness, shame, and rebellion build up every time she would say that. But maybe the most challenging part for you was that when she told you those things, she would take them back later on and then hold you dear like a mother would, caressing your hair while apologizing. Then it would be okay for a few hours that remained for the day. The next, it would be the same. Your father, though, you remember him having a really fantastic job. He’d be really great at fighting! You’d see him train himself harshly, then sometimes, a few strangers would come by saying they were to be trained by your father as well.

He was a busy man, but you admired him greatly. He would bring you snacks when he came home late, sometimes for weeks to months. When he was busy training the strangers, you would get a stick and try to copy their moves before your mother would see and drag you back inside so you could practice dining etiquette and reading. The one time he saw you trying to copy their regime by the bushes in your garden, which was connected to the open area where they were set, he had a broad smile on his face before he carried your small figure by your armpits, stuck in one hand, and then plopping you beside one of his trainees who smiled at you despite looking incredibly exhausted.

“Okay, my daughter will be joining us today. Greet her, everyone!” He would say, lively, with a booming voice. A katana resting beside him on the wooden porch.

“Nice to meet you. (はじめまして; Hajimemashite.)” Everyone would say in unison, facing to the side where you were with gentle, tired faces.

You were nervous, and you held your stick close to your chest with wide eyes that stared back at all the people looking at you before you bowed in greeting.

“P-please take care of me!! (宜しく; Yoroshiku!!)” You would yell back.

You just experienced an extremely grueling exercise. After the introductions, your father made a hum of approval before yelling: “Begin!” to all of his trainees. And for that time, that meant you too. You were beyond surprised when he said that you would swing your sword a hundred times properly and that if you messed up, you’d have to do it again! You thought you’d die. And you thought you’d already swung your sword (stick) five hundred times before your mother came to fetch you, calling out your name. Your father gave a small chuckle towards you before beckoning you over to your mother, who was furious when she saw you sweating so much.

It wasn’t even ten minutes before your father told you to start. But whatever! You swung your sword (stick) one thousand times or would yell at your father, who teased you for it. Your mother would yell at him before cleaning you up, returning to prancing with duties she deemed fit.

You remember her teaching you how to cook. Still, after you did a donburi for the first time, she said something about putting in too much meat and that the meat itself was not very tasty. That was a few years later, but your father would take the bowl of donburi from your mother and eat the whole thing without batting an eye. Hovering over you and asking for seconds with a few pieces of rice stuck on his face, a thin sheen that was his stubble, soiled with a few remnants of the sauce while your mother would nag him for being such a mess.

That may be why you think of cooking Kyojuro a meal right now in the Wisteria residence.

You kindly ask the lady of the house, who didn’t seem too old, to allow you to assist her in the kitchen, reluctant for a while as you should be resting. Your shin and your ankles were wrapped heavily in bandages, you don’t have broken ribs, but your legs were affected. Which was hard because your whole technique is centered around your legs. But you would manage since the doctor said that it would recover, giving you an ointment that would minimize the appearance of scars and help it heal faster. The sun was high in the sky, and a bright, clear blue atmosphere created a peaceful environment after a heavy first mission.

Kyojuro didn’t choose to rest, as he was already training outside so he wouldn’t grow weak, his words, not yours. So when you went out to call him for lunch, you would see that he was already soaked in sweat with his katana in hand, swinging it for the umpteenth time that noon after his intense run. At first, he didn’t hear you, so you had to come out from peeking from the wall to move right in front of him. The moment he sees you, he stops swinging his katana and catches his breath before greeting you kindly.

“(Name)! Good afternoon!” His short ragged hair stuck to his forehead.

“It’s time for lunch!” You replied, your hands cupped in front of your mouth to increase your volume.

“You felt what crunch? Is it painful? You should call for the doctor!”

You ignore what he says and grab his wrist, dragging him to the dining area. His mouth is left open in shock while you do so; he scrambles to put his blade back into the sheath while he stumbles and follows your figure.

“Oh, lunch!” He says while he motions to sit down, his katana sheathed beside him now.

You sit down in front of him; the piping miso and the sweet potato donburi sit steaming on the table, both your chopsticks next to your bowls. It had a soft-boiled egg cut in half above the sliced sweet potatoes that took the place of meat because the lady was supposed to go to the market later that time for more ingredients, leaving you to cook with what you had. The roasted sliced sweet potatoes were seasoned in umami paste that you saw in a jar, smelling its rich scent. Then beneath them, just before the rice that was seasoned with sesame seeds and other spices, all the same, were slaws of cabbage. The whole bowl was topped simply with green onions.

Kyojuro’s eyes seemed to have sparkled at the sight of lunch, which led you to think that he must’ve been starving. You both pray. First, Kyojuro looks more excited, his hands quickly slapping together in prayer before you both close your eyes in silence until he puts his head up and yells, “Thanks for the food!!! (いただきます：頂きます, Itadakimasu!!!)”

“I cooked lunch. Sorry if it’s not meat; it was all they had left in stock. But I hope you enjoy it! I made it for you!” You speak at a volume you think he would hear.

Kyojuro still couldn’t hear very well. He felt it would be rude if he asked one more time to repeat what you said, noticing that there’s a hint of insecurity behind your rhythmic confidence. So he tried to think of a way to make you feel great, he barely heard the muffled words of cooked lunch, and he knew the perfect way to let you know that it was great.

He ravages the bowl non-stop before you even get the chance to take your chopsticks. So just when you were about to eat as well, his bowl was already off his mouth, you heard it land on the table with a thud, Kyojuro still chewing the rice and cabbage loudly. You were happy that he liked it very much. Until he brought it closer, his eyes shone as he got a slice of the sweet potato and devoured it. Followed by a loud exclamation of,

“Umai!” Once.

“Umai!” And again.

“Umai!” He kept repeating until his empty bowl caught you off guard. Suddenly the face of your approving father when you were still young softly resembled Kyojuro’s image side-by-side. Though his hair was darker, like yours, and he was much older.

Your mood was brought up again, the last memories of criticism from your mother dissipating before you ate with the same amount of rambunctiousness. You didn’t mean to, but when you did taste the donburi in full, you kept going until it was also empty, unironically saying, “Umaiiiii!” Which made Kyojuro laugh at your expression towards your own cooking.

“Are there any more?” He asks, not holding back. His stomach suddenly grumbled at that exact moment. “I’m still hungry!! It’s my first time tasting sweet potatoes, especially with donburi!”

The afternoon continued until both of you alone finished the whole pot of rice and bowl full of roasted sweet potatoes, not even putting them in the bowls anymore. It came to a point where either of you would just get from the big bowl of potatoes, or the big pot of rice, eating them separately. You were satisfied by the end. An hour passed quickly before you both lay on the tatami floor mat. It was a while now before one of you finally spoke up. Surprisingly, it was Kyojuro who sparked the conversation this time.

You couldn’t see his face while he said this because your position was opposite where he was at the table and on the floor. Both of you are lying only to see the ceiling.

“(Name), why did you propose to me?”

You closed your eyes for a bit, pondering yourself. Your memories return to the night your father lost his leg. Everything from your last house and village burnt to the ground. They said that a monster was hiding somewhere in your land and area, they definitely saw it, the people of the town thought that the best solution was to burn down your house without a second thought to corner the monster and get rid of it for sure. But at that time, you didn’t understand what the commotion was. You just understood that you were in danger. Angry folks of men and women formed a big crowd with torches, and whatever makeshift weapon they could find was raised above their heads as they screamed angrily.

Your mother told them it was unreasonable and tried to talk to them. Still, maybe it was due to panic, someone slipped inside, and your mother only noticed once she heard the loud yelling before the torch was thrown inside your house made of wood. You were still in your room upstairs then, looking unto the crowd. The smell of smoke was still not prevalent. Your father stepped out for a bit that night, saying to be safe and hide in your rooms to both you and your sister. You could distantly hear your mother’s slightly distant screaming, “No! My kids, my kids… They’re still inside!”

You were starting to understand what was going on when the smoke from downstairs gradually started filling your vision, blocking the view of the angry crowd who seemed to die down, realizing the extent of their reactions. They stopped your mother from entering, and a few men ran inside your blazing home, and you finally got off your feet from staring at the crowd.

Fire spreads fast.

And suddenly, the atmosphere was hotter, and your feet felt burning. You coughed as you slid your room’s door open, hearing the pit-a-pat of footsteps running downstairs, trying to figure out how to go up with the swift flames that wafted through your house, some of the pillars beginning to collapse, reaching the walls upstairs. And you hear a scream, the room right in front of you.

“Ane! (Big sister; 姉),” You exclaim before you slide her door open with your tiny hands, struggling a little due to its weight.

The sight that met you was your first encounter with a demon. You trembled at the demon’s presence that seemed to shift gravity itself. His short, flushed hair with his pearly white skin would’ve been fair had it not been lighted by the protruding fire. The shade of his hair matched that of the rest of his eyes, long eyelashes, and upward-creased brows; he wasn’t angry, no, it was more like he was condescending. Large beads on his feet and tattoos spread out to the rest of his body and face. He was simply standing, and yet he looked menacing all the same.

Your eyes darted to your sister, who seemed unharmed yet absolutely terrified that she was rendered quiet the entire time. In a split second, he appeared angrier seeing you as he made a sound of disdain for your appearance. His expression of pure neutrality changed ever so fast.

“Leave here! Don’t touch ane!” You said firmly, your fists right in front of you this time, you ran towards him, tackling him, but he was unfazed by your weak attempt. But surprised that you would run face first into an entity you must’ve known nothing about, you kept struggling to try and bring him down, your tears and snot starting to fall. At the same time, he looked on at your pathetic, weak, and frail behavior.

Suddenly, your sister stared in horror and heard voices calling out both of your names. Seeing the opportunity, she quickly dashed outside the room to leave you and the monster behind. You were glad that she took that chance and that you got to help. Maybe this time she’ll like you more? She didn’t really always like you.

“You’ve got some big nerves, but look where that got you. Your sister left you.” He says, the fire engulfing more of the room while you hear far-out cries from your sister.

“We have to go, my sister, she’s… She’s not here!”

You would almost feel pain and immense betrayal from this, but… Oh, who were you kidding? It hurt. And it pulled more when you felt the man grab the back of your kimono harshly to take you away from his figure from your futile attempt at apprehending him. You land on the floor and yelp in pain before you exclaim again, feeling fire so close to your face. But just before that incident, you felt a grip on your neck. If you thought it was harder to breathe before from the smoke, it is more complicated now from his asphyxiating grip on your neck. Your tears kept flowing, and your vision was highly unreliable. But you could catch a small glimpse outside when the outside window began collapsing a little more. You could see your mother hugging your sister so dearly.

His grip only got tighter before he clenched his jaw, and you were starting to turn red to blue in a few seconds before he let go of the tight grip on you with a click of his teeth. He tossed you outside, landing by the forest harshly, on the brink of losing consciousness. But you saw a flash of thunder, the sound booming in your ringing ears, and there you saw your father, katana in hand with his familiar blue, patterned kimono, before you were carried by a man who followed closely next to your father who had eyes that resembled the sun.

“—In...Uro—” Your hearing was muffled due to a sudden impact that you were shielded from by the man your father was talking to. “take my daughter back safely!”

You were around eleven when that happened, your sister, a year older than you.

“(Name), have you fallen asleep? Was it too much to ask? Sorry! I just want to know so I can answer!” Kyojuro trod carefully; you opened your eyes to be greeted by his face on top of yours, intense gaze on your figure.

He moves back as you sit up, both of you next to each other now, while he’s sitting patiently next to you, a smile on his face like a puppy; You lean back more casually with your arms stretched out behind you, your face facing upwards as if in more thought. This took a little longer than what Kyojuro expected, and a drop of sweat set on his cheek. About to speak up in the silence, you look back at him.

“I proposed to you because… I want to marry you!” You beam at him.

Judging from his expression, you could tell this wasn’t the answer he was looking for. But you knew that whatever solution you would give him, he would say one thing.

“I see…” He beckons softly, and then he thinks quietly for a while. But it wasn’t for too long before his resolve was formed.

“I’m sorry! I have to reject you! I am not looking for a woman, nor do I think I should get married now!” Okay, maybe not one thing. But you knew this would be the outcome.

And so, you laughed. Kyojuro looked incredibly confused at this, so he started to ramble.

“Eh? Did I assume wrong? Were you making a joke? We are still incredibly young, and I think you are an amazing friend, (Name)!”

You stayed still, staring at him while he continued talking before you fully faced him, causing him to stop talking to observe you. You brought both of your hands up to cup your mouth before you said with a proud face:

“This will be the moment that I will start falling in love with you, Kyojuro!!! And I’ll make you fall in love with me too—!” You take a breath in again, “And that means I’ll love you so and that you’ll never get rid of me from now on!!!” Followed by a rambunctious laugh afterward.

“When you mean that you will never leave…!” He starts, almost nervous, despite his ordinarily loud volume.

“Wherever you go, I won’t be far to follow right beside you.” You finally say with an average volume, closing the distance, but not enough for you to kiss; just for him to hear.

Kyojuro took his time to take in your words before you seemed to stir something in him before he stared at you with blown eyes, his smile disappearing, and he grimaced with a red face. He is still a young boy, after all. What else could he do with such strange behavior for the first time?

“But—” Kyojuro puts his hand up innocently, “I rejected you already?” Evidently confused, the statement came out as a question.

You did nothing but repeat your reaction earlier. This time you pulled back, your laugh was louder, and Kyojuro could barely decipher your immensely jolly responses. This was his first time rejecting a girl. Was it like this with everyone? And then you stop laughing. The wind blows in from the open window that sets the sun inside the room.

“I vow to make you change your mind about that then. Isn’t courting normally? Then I’ll court you!”

Kyojuro was right.

“You are strange.”

I remember Harumi and MOST of the plot so im pumped to see all of this again

this is when the animation got GOOD, ik it only gets better but i think this was the turning point

My favorite part out of all of this was probably how the slave henchmen were like “Its nya! The master of water!” So fearfully instead of “its the girl ninja.” You can tell she really earned a title for herself and finally got some goddamn respect.

i remembered i replied to an ask a bit similar to yours some years ago actually, maybe it can be helpful? (copy/paste bc link doesn't work aaa) :

im not sure to be the best person to ask, i see exposure like some kind of accident really. like, you make a drawing that may suddenly fly far away and then lots of people can see it and among them some will maybe enjoy looking it as well, etc etc! but ofc, and you probably know it, if you make fanarts, your works have higher chance to visit lots of blogs, because they are in the tags, and the person seeing your works is also already invested in the original manga/book/game/…, so it’s always super nice to see fanarts of it! That being said, it wouldn’t be interesting to draw things just bc you know they are popular or something. Draw for yourself. If you’d like to draw a fanart of this or that, then do it and enjoy it ! and if you don’t want to, do not force yourself.

tbh, i think if i have an advice for beginner artists, it would be to continue to draw, simply. exposure will come with time. There is the undeniable luck factor, and there is also the fact that, with your drawings becoming better and better, more people will come see them and share them. Make it easy for people to find your works with relevant tags on platforms you like, and either you draw only original / fanarts / …, you’ll definitely reach people who will enjoy your works. Be patient, be happy with what you draw, and work hard. if you need advices or constructive criticisms about your drawings etc, don’t hesitate to ask ! everyone is learning and every artists had to begin at some point. and yeah, i’d say that, if you’re beginner, don’t rush and think that what matters when you share your art online is the number of this or that etc. don’t mix up your works’ popularity with the value you grant them yourself. Be proud and fairly, kindly, critical about what you draw. focus on getting better, and have fun!

I don’t know if my reply is answering your question, it’s not an easy subject and yeah that’s just how i see things for now. i hope you still find some useful things in this ! and if you dont mind me talking a lot like this and still have questions, i can try answering them as well

Draw what interests you, what makes you happy. someone commented on my old wattpad story that was actually a pokedex of fakemon (they follow me on here now, hi) so i thought id give some attention to these 2 year old creations :) this isnt the best example of improvement, since i dont really draw birds much, but oh well!

in order of size, meet Snowl, Icilide, and Frostavis! they're all ice-flying types, and if i remember correctly, theyre based on snowy owls and argentavis, an extinct bird, and they were basically the common flying type of my fake pokemon region (which was themed around snow!) ive given them a slight redesign here, (especially frostavis) so the originals are under the cut!

aaa old art jumpscare. ew. /j their shinies were coloured brown after barn owls :)

Hi! It's lukesbestmistake from ao3. Ive finally found you, little one! Your reply on my comment made me think so hard i got zoomies, no kidding. I was like HhHM so THATS whats BEEN going on, jeez! But wait! YES? No! I think with all of that running and jumping i did id certainly give Dani a run for her money. And so its been a lots of thinking and here i am!

So, to summarize, im too blind to see the obvious. And you said that some things are clear as day, they were even written and i still can't think properly. Im sowwy im so dumb, im trying to put this all together:( i guess i have to reread everything, and imma do just that soon enough! About this other mysterious person who calls us a kid, its probably one of our family members? The one we dont remember? But i dont want you to give me more clues as its obvious I can't function properly to understand them:D Nothing will help me unless you grab my head and point my nose into the right sentences so i can finally see the light:')

Talking about our lovely duo there, i came to realization that i might finally know whats going on! I think...I think after Vios "death" Mara might have "disappeared" to work with Vio on a plan to bring down Miri. Did they make a pact? So they're kinda here, close to us, watching over us and guiding us to kill her. And they definitely have a plan about it. That's what i thought when you said plan is coming. So what if its their plan, not ours or Dimitrescus? But then again, why would they be around us and the girls and Lady D and just watch us fall in love with people Mara was kind of into..? Is it okay with her then? Was it okay with Vio to watch us fall in love with Donna too? I dunno, honestly. If they are alive it would be a mess. An epic mess where all of Miris servants turn against her.

I feel like its me who needs to say thank you over and over and over again. I dont think you understand what you're doing for me, for all of the readers. Your work is everything. It brings me so much joy, so much happiness. Nothing makes me feel as alive as your words, your sentences, beautifully put together. And i know how hard it is to write something, i truly know, been there done that, you know) I've been a content creator for about 2 years in one fandom. And writing was the best thing, but the most tiring one in my entire life. So i cant even describe how greatful i am to hear you want to continue that one thing that makes my messy life easier. okay, so to start off, i wanna say it wasn't my intention to imply you were in any way dumb in my comment on ao3. I've kinda realized that in my writing, a lot of the time, i don't quite write things the way they should be because they make sense to me, even if they won't make sense to others. but! everything is confusing and (intentionally) misleading right now, since we're only seeing this story from one person's POV when there was SO MUCH going on. but you're definitely not dumb; the fact that you're analyzing everything and actually coming pretty close (i won't say to what ;) ) to what's going on is astounding and just makes me so happy.

the one thing i wanna say about Mara and Vio that you mentioned: in the story, it is fact that Mara got the fruit flies to attack Vio, though what the reader saw (at the beginning of chapter eight? i think?) was not actually what happened. that part hasn't been revealed yet, but it will be soon enough. i will say that anything the reader sees through a character's eyes (like through Vio or Mara's eyes) is not 100% accurate, but anything they see as though they were a bystander IS accurate. so, the Vio/Donna scene, accurate. the scene where Miranda finds a dying Vio in the snow, accurate. the scene where Mara and Vio are arguing in the chapel... not so accurate. does that make sense? i hope it does. anything they see through a character's eyes is usually corrupted by what THEY would do in that situation rather than what actually happened.

i'm hoping to clear up a few things in the next chapter, as someone from the MC's past is going to be revealed and become an important person in the plan of taking Miranda down. she'll shed some light on a few things, but until then, I'll leave the rest up to you >:) i won't give you any spoilers, but i will help nudge you in the right direction. i do hope that when everything IS revealed, it'll be a big, "OHHHHH" moment bahaha.

it definitely can be difficult to write something, and I've had a lot of hard moments trying to write these recent chapters. i lost motivation for a while, which i knew was going to happen when i was updating it like once a week (10k words per chapter every week was not a smart move). but, honestly, as tiring as it can get, what keeps me going is knowing at least one person out there is enjoying the story and what I'm creating. so, really, your comments and messages mean the absolute world to me. i go back and read them when I'm having a rough day. thank you so much for everything you've written and continue to do, i hope you have the loveliest day and week <3333

Nice headcanons for Jumin and Jaehee after she left the company because I need them to repair their relationship and remain friends. There's no longer any power imbalance.

oh i love this! i really do also want them to be friends, ive always felt so bad for Jaehee in all other routes but hers ;;

JAEHEE + JUMIN FRIENDSHIP HEADCANONS (following Jaehee's route)

* Let's be real, it's be awkward as hell at first; Jaehee doesn't know how to interact with Jumin in a way that isn't forced politeness, and Jumin's a peculiar person-though he held Jaehee in high regard, he has no freaking idea how to talk with her now that she no longer works for him

* It's not like they hate one another; Jumin highly respects Jaehee, and though he furstrates her to no end, she never hated him; she could see through the cracks, as the person spending the most time with him, and could tell he's not as much of a heartless robot as the world deems him to be

* It'll take a while for Jumin to get used to not calling her 'Assistant Kang', and he'd follow anytime he adresses her as such with a polite cough and a quiet 'Sorry, I meant...Jaehee', with what could only be a flustered expression.

* She also has a hard time not asking again and again about the state of the C&R, being used to her role for so long that it takes a while to get used to being her own person, independant from her past job. It'd honestly require help from MCa as well, to help her unwind when at home, to learn to enjoy her new job and find pleasure in her efforts.

* As an olive branch, Jumin will absoloutey help fund the cafe in the begining at least, even when Jaehee vehemently refuses his help; she'll only accept when Jumin insists he wants to help, not out of duty, not as her old boss, but as a friend.

* "You can name a drink after Elizabeth the 3d", he says, "as a thank you". Jaehee...hopes he's teasing, but doubts it

* (She does though. She creates her own version of a fluffy white vanilla latte, and names it Elizabeth, though she refuses to be the one to tell so to Jumin, a furious blush on her cheeks at the mere thought of him ever ordering it)

* Jumin was at a loss at first after Jaehee left, but she's nothing if not meticulous; she was there to help him find her replacement, and preformed the interviews alongside him, spending countless hours over resumes until they find someone that can step up to fill her spot. Jumin won't admit it, but he's grateful-he genially thought Jaehee would just up and disappear the moment she quit, worried he'd never find someone nearly as competent as her.

* He'd eventually admit it one day, after a sucessful RFA party, when the lull of the music and the buzz of wine give him courage. He'd be standing in a corner besides Jaehee, looking out to the people socialising with the RFA members, and quietly say 'You were great, you know. I know it's a little late for praises, but you were the most competen, hard-working person I've yet met.'

* Jaehee would look up at him with wide eyes, before schooling her expression into a soft smile. 'I know', she says, and they share a soft laugh, content to leave the conversation at that

*He'd regularly visit the coffee shop, although Jaehee would stop him right at the door if he had Elizabeth with him, pointing to the 'No pets allowed (except service animals)' sign on the door. At his frown she'd sigh, nodding at him to wait there as she went back to the bar to make him his usual coffee-a latte with strawberry syrup, mix of the bitter espresso and the sugary foam creating the perfect balance, or so Jumin insists. She brings it to him at the door and shoos him away with a roll of her eyes and a smile, waving goodbye as he heads back to the car, nodding to Driver Kim as they leave.

* She's a proud person, but when she runs into some problems she and MC have difficulty working through at the cafe, she would eventually call Jumin for help-he's competent as all hell, and always objective, so she trusts his judgement, and honestly, would like his advice, as both an old boss and as a friend.

* She'd frequently invite the whole of RFA after closing hours to chill at the cafe, and Jumin and V would bring along bottles of wine, spending the night laughing and talking with friends, under the fairy lights adorning the cafe walls.

* Eventually, they do become friends. Even if it takes some time for either one of them to admit it so.

hello !! aaa thank you so much for this august and i'm sorry in advance because this got,,, so so long. but this isn't a bother at all and i was really really excited to write about this actually !! thank you!!

these all take place in the main au I use, which is sort of canon compliant? I’m not really sure how to explain it but these moments are meant to sort of fit in with the storyline of thh in some way. they should sort of make sense on their own though ^^;;

1 )

aya finds chihiro having a panic attack in the kitchen…while also kind of having a panic attack.

this happens right after everyone is shown their motivation videos, so there’s ample reason to be panicking at this point ;;;

this is the first time they interact beyond their introductions, so everything is a bit awkward but they try their best to calm the other down!! somewhere along the line they succeed and decide to try and de-stress by baking something for everyone together and venting about their anxieties.

the importance of this moment lies in how aya and chihiro’s dynamic in thh is a bit odd at first; because in reality, them falling in love was very much a close friends/lovers slow burn. it happened throughout the first few years of attending hope’s peak together.

but after they lose their memory of being together and are essentially strangers, the trust and comfort level they had around each other is still unconsciously there somehow and strangely, they both get the sense that they have met before!!

it’s SO confusing to them ;; neither of them are the type to easily make connections and both take a very long time to open up and be truly comfortable around others. they’re completely perplexed as to why they’re suddenly ok with sharing their deepest insecurities and biggest secrets to someone that they think they’ve only known for about a week.

the baking session is almost like a catch-up because after this event, they become close so quickly and share so much more about themselves than they would ever normally reveal.

it gets to the point that when one of them just somehow ‘knows’ something or remembers a preference that was never shared, they don’t even question it until they learn the truth.

this one is adapted from chihiro’s first free time event (sorry makoto)

aya notices that something is bothering chihiro and asks them if something happened, prompting them to tell her about the mosquito and that the bite hurts a lot.

she tells them that they might have something that could help and produce a first aid kit with a medication inside. cue very soft taking care of an injury (I guess?) scene !! chihiro asks them why they even had the kit. aya tells them about how her siblings were very daring, so she got into the habit of carrying one around to help if they got hurt and that she’s pretty careless too, so it comes in handy!! it kind of hints at something aya is dealing w/ as well, but that's kind of a sensitive topic to go into.

they note that most of the bandages are gone and remark about finding somewhere to replenish it. the rest of the conversation is mostly them talking about their families to each other and where in the school a mosquito could have possibly resided!! (aya is so excited at the prospect of a garden, but they're both more excited that it could mean a possible way out!

aya was pretty distressed from the beginning of the game, but everything gets very bad after the first class trial. it starts to become very noticeable that they are Not Doing Ok.

at some point they end up missing role call and so some of the class nervously goes her dorm, really hoping that aya hasn’t become the 4th victim.

they haven’t!! it turns out that they just kind of had a breakdown. she admits that they haven’t been able to sleep for days, so they spaced out and thought it was still nighttime.

which is very concerning because she’s exhausted and scared to leave their dorm because they’ll be punished if they fall asleep somewhere else. chihiro says they’ve had trouble too, then very very shyly suggests that they share a dorm the same way sakura and aoi do. aya says yes, but she’s not really sure if it will help so at first they mostly hang out. ^^

aya asks them a bit about coding because they like listening to chihiro happily explain what they’re doing on their computer and she’s trying to pay attention but soon aya just kind of,,, softly falls asleep on them.

they feel safe enough to rest around chihiro but they can’t place why and honestly? she’s way too tired to care.

chihiro is surprised for a moment but eventually they fall asleep too and they take a long nap together. they wake up profusely blushing and apologizing but very happy that the other finally got some rest :)

this event sort of marks the beginning of the relationship in thh! they keep it secret, but it’s clear to the others that they became pretty inseparable once they started sharing a dorm.

red dead redemption 2

a genuinely incredible game, and i think it takes the spot as my new favorite game ever. it helped me through a really tough time earlier this year, and even after finishing it i find myself back in the game time and time again just to explore the scenery and ride around the mountains :]

death stranding

ok so i never actually got very far through this, i just look back fondly remembering nights of playing this at 1am so my parents wouldnt know i didnt eat lunch for 2 weeks to afford this game. also shoutout to the guy who is now my coworker for selling this to a 17yo me without asking for id

uncharted: the nathan drake collection

all 3 of these games are just a good time. shooting army mfs while nate says funny one-liners. what more could you want. so glad my friend persuaded me into playing this series. started 4 too, which btw, absolutely fucks <3

gta 5 (fivem)

it’s ridiculous, but i actually became good friends with a couple of my coworkers through grinding for drugs and money when i first started at my job. we all made so many trips to pillbox together after wrecking cars or tackling each other to the ground and then we dragged more friends into it all and i made memories i think i’ll keep for a very long time :)

it’s so hard to put into words why i love this. joel and ellie, i would die for you. spoilers, but at the end i did not hesitate when i walked into that surgery room.

this game is yet another reminder of why naughty dog is my favorite game studio. the gameplay and visuals make it feel like perfection and the combat makes me feel like a god damn maniac. i dont know any other aaa game that has prominent lgbt characters, and although it has flaws it really does mean a lot to me. i watched someone stream the entire game last year before i got a ps4 and even though i knew the ending i still cried so hard my nose bled for an hour lol

splatoon 2

this game is one of the best multiplayer shooters currently available and you cant tell me otherwise

forza horizon 5

this was my my most unexpected videogame love this year. i may not be a good racer like my friends, or be invested in much of the story, but i’ve enjoyed just spending my time speeding over hills in off road cars like a maniac while listening to the in game radio

kirby’s dream land 3

started playing this on my commute to work every day and it’s just delightful. i grew up with kirby’s dream land on gameboy so having this game to play in the mornings on switch has been lovely :]

animal crossing: new horizons

feels good to play this at last! i’m a long time fan of the animal crossing series so playing one on a current gen console instead of cracking out my 3ds feels great

metroid: dread

whaaat a fucking masterpiece of a game. this is my favorite thing on switch so far, the whole thing is delightful and very difficult, and as always samus feels so badass to play as. looks very visually impressive for the switch too. absolutely my favorite new release of 2021.

resident evil: village

i watched this game about 5 times over through streamers this year so i built up the balls to play it myself over christmas. maybe i overestimated myself because it’s still terrifying to me and im still stuck in the cellars of castle dimitrescu

pokemon: brilliant diamond

my first new pokemon game :) i think the most recent proper game i owned before this is for gba, so it’s been really interesting to play through. sure, it’s not known for being the most high-quality remaster ever, but i’ve been enjoying it.

there’s a bunch of stuff i didn’t add to this list, like super monkey ball bbhd and red dead 1 :] but i just added my favs that i discovered this year and the ones that hold the best memories!

While I will absolutely agree that CB2077 isn’t the ONLY game doing all this bullshit, or that other AAA studios don’t deserve the flack CDPR is getting, I have to say that this is absolutely the perfect storm and I think people are FINALLY seeing the problems in modern AAA gaming. CB2077 might be fun to play, may have a good story, but it’s almost impossible to see because of the glaring issues. Which, honestly, is a good thing. I hope games change after this.

AAA studios have been like this and this sort of release has been completely normalised on all accounts by both the businesses themselves and fans because of the inherent reliance on modders (bethesda at the forefront of this), as well as the pushback every time companies actually go ‘uh we need a lil more time’ (although... they just shouldnt announce potential release dates, im even of the camp they shouldnt even start releasing the game until like 6 months out from their official date because they fuck it up every time. borderlands 3 being the only game i know of being in “secret” development and then announcing itself in march for a september release. game itself aside, thats how companies should do it). easily i can remember a lot of 2011 release games which have had the exact same issues as cp77′s release, and then every other game in between since. very rarely do you actually have a game that isn’t a fucked up mess of a pile of pixels. and it is always the customisable character ones that are honestly, genuinely, ugly looking at release. but you can definitely say its been happening looooooong before 2011, with unrealistic expectations, word limits, 11 month time frames, offloading sequels to smaller companies so they can suffer if it fails, etc etc. the entire system has been like this for so long... they dont know any real different nowadays.

i mean look. tlou2 released under crunch conditions this year, and was rewarded. it was ALL over the social media feeds, it was quite the controversy because, surprise surprise, the company promised they wouldnt do it uwu and then. bam ! crunch conditions. literally around that time too, bioware employees came out with a statement saying ‘man we wish dai FAILED so that back in 2014 we couldve proven crunch was a wrong practice’. they say this as well after having to produce da2 in 14 months, which just suffered from fans and journalism for reusing environments, because it was produced in 14 months, and honestly? no one pointed that out back then, bioware themselves pointed it out again this year, 6 years after release, that that game was produced in 14 months. rdr2′s release was hounded by stories of crunch, and they all disappeared into the night because... it was heralded as the best game of all time. that was 2018, 2 years ago.

i think too is that some people get kind of ... morally and ethically concerned. which is understandable. can you consume something when you know it was made under conditions like crunch? and i think one of the most confronting things about it is that 9/10, not only has your favourite company engaged in crunch conditions, they almost actively choose to continue with them. and then that’s a whole other bag of issues blown up over there when it comes to what is able to be consumed what isn’t etc etc

i think also like a mix of marketing, promises and then the expectations of what the game will be like have really had cdpr earn the ire of fans which is just like... you don’t believe what these companies are saying. you never should, esp when it’s their ceo’s saying it who don’t work on the actual floor. bioware itself is the main culprit of doing this to the point they finally came around with all the da4 concept art and teasing to be like ‘ummm but actually dont get invested?’. remember all that qunari lady fanart that bioware management was like ... please dont get attached? yeah. yeah. like at what point as well is there going to be heavy level of apprehension to approach this? and i can’t really talk either, i cracked open the door for mass effect again. i know exactly what kind of shit bioware will pull, i know they are teasing it already on social media, but mass effect is my ride or die series. that’s why people keep opening the door on letting these companies get away with it. and you can’t fault fans entirely either because this is down to a science of how to get money. i mean, fuck, mass effect andromeda’s entire advertising campaign HINGED on the n7 logo. for the nostalgia value. and i see text posts in the same vein of both ‘guys, disney isnt gonna fuck you if you consume every remake for nostalgia value’ and ‘its understandable why people do it’.

so then you have to go ‘well are fans as just to blame’ and then that’s a whole other argument.

i think also like. i personally havent run into aaaannnyyyyyyy of the issues that you see posted online. which is ironic bc 1) i play on ps4 and 2) its an old dusty ps4. in fact a lot of ppl i have spoken to who have had issues have played on pc. does this mean the glitches dont exist? ofc not, the vids and screenshots are right there. but like... ive had a basically unhindered experience so far, and i get where ppl are coming from (i do, i promise) where theyve basically found the game unplayable. is there also a standard of what ppl consider unplayable because ive played most AAA games at launch when they basically rushed to slap the box label on the game and called it a day until they work on patches. when ppl consider unplayable is also just... different per person. some people have a slight blur on the screen when turning too fast even in an MMO and decide the game is horrible and unplayable. some people can have broken quests and npcs not loading and falling through maps and still be fine. there’s no agreed statement of what makes a game unplayable either, which is why you read threads on twitter and someone goes ‘yeah this npc t-posed so i quit in the first hour’ with a dozen replies. everyone has different levels of it.

it’s a mixed bag of issues. im not excusing cdpr, but the ppl who worked on the game are honestly likely not the ones who pushed for a release. you’ve gotta look at sony and microsoft and ceo’s with bonuses coming up and the investors and shareholders and people who sit behind computers and read numbers detailing interest and demand and supply and how every single time they had to delay this game, the loudest (but smallest) bunch of assholes on like reddit and in the twitter threads complained that it was delayed AGAIN even though back in what 2015? they said it’ll come out when it’s ready. and yeah there are times when game delays result in a mismatched half assed sort of story (kh3... p5... ffxv... dai...) and then there are times when, if they need to delay the game... they probably need to delay the game. sometimes delays are bad sometimes theyre good sometimes you are sitting there like whew if you only didn’t try to be like THIS TIME this is the release date.

the ONLY WAY this will stop happening is, quite frankly, unionising. and everyone is allergic to that whole concept so like... this is “the perfect storm” as you put it. but it’s also not. people have been so disappointed over the last 2 years alone for gaming companies, the final product, the attitudes from higher ups, that i think cdpr is receiving a good few years worth of anger. i think theyre also on the receiving end of misdirection from american fans who still don’t fucking get the company isn’t american, because that’s another bag of issues as well. like we’re holding at least 8 bags of groceries out of the back of the car now, and we don’t want to take another trip, because there are so many little bits of this entire situation to look at. there’s so much back and forth.

i think the worst, but most realistic thing is: games won’t change. how they will social media wise will. maybe. assuming bioware gets their heads out their asses but... they’re going to be a lot more careful. i mean, hell, sony offered refunds. that was just a publicity stint. they dont give a fuck if the game was bad. as i said before, if they did, they would make all companies fix trophy problems, starting from like 2010 or whenever the trophy system first came out. they just don’t wanna fall in alongside cdpr being thrown on its sword. but the companies are gonna learn from this, get smarter, still do the same shit to their employees, still pay off journalists, still do media blackouts, etc etc. and we’re gonna be here in another year’s time, with another game, having these same roundabout arguments, and cp77′s issues are gonna fade into just a wikipedia article.

hey im the anon abt gyutaro/ume and i dont remember what happens to demons after they die ?? did i miss smth ? regardless i wanna ask what do you think their fate should be ? cause on one hand i think they're just victims of a cruel world who took the first way out they could find but on the other hand it doesnt rlly justify all the slaughter, and i also think abt the demon slayers who also suffered horrible fates and used it to fuel their determination to save other people from that pain

hi !! i don’t think kny ever explicitly mentions what happens to demons after they die (as in we never have concrete evidence of where they go or how their lives after are spent), but i think the general consensus is that the demons go to hell.

in some cases, the family can decide to go with them (ex: rui and i think akaza? if i remember correctly?) but their fate is pretty much sealed from that point forward i believe.

heres a pic of gyuutarou and ume, actually, in chapter 97 !!

but yeah !! thats something i think about a lot tbh. as you mentioned, many of the demons we’ve seen have either been groomed into demonhood (rui, ume, susamaru, etc.) or had their pain and suffering exploited (akaza, gyuutarou) for the sake of advancing other demons’ plans (muzan, douma, etc). so i agree ! a lot of these characters are unfortunate victims in themselves and its impossible to view their stories without incorporating the struggles they’ve had to face as both humans AND demons. especially considering that lots of these individuals experience muzan’s abuse regardless of their status relative to him (such as with the upper and lower moons). i think this is best explained through akaza’s relationship with muzan,

and further explored though tanjiro’s observation of rui’s death. he notes that being a demon, for most, is an existence punctuated by extreme grief and despair, and that’s equally supported, i think, by the humanization of these demons following death. that their original conscious is restored (albeit with knowledge of everything they’ve done) and are oftentimes plagued by the guilt of what’s happened.

what he says here is probably what sums it up for me. that while it’s important to condemn these demons and hold them accountable for the truly awful things they’ve done, it’s also important to consider the suffering they've experienced through existence alone. its so !! complex !! and thats what i love about kny. i love how .. you have some demons who are entirely despicable and bask in the carnage they create, but you also have some for whom demonhood was simply what appeared to be the only answer towards living a healthier life or righting the wrongs that’ve been done to them (usually with false promises and manipulation unbeknownst to them). and .. its so hard to figure out where to.. draw that line. or view these characters at least. because you sympathize with their pain, but you also realize that their actions have caused endless pain for many hundreds of people. tanjiro losing his entire family, giyuu losing his. shinobu watching her sister die before her very eyes, and kanao the same. the ubuyashiki family’s curse or the slaughter of himejima’s children. you look at characters like sanemi, shinobu, or giyuu and understand that you cannot invalidate their view of demons either. while kanae and tanjiro may find hope and humanity in demons, they exist as monsters who feast on pain to everyone else. its important not to discredit their perspective when making a personal choice to observe the demons’ hardships yknow. shinobu’s anger is just as warranted as tanjiro’s optimism and that neither are wrong for how they personally feel demons should be handled after death.

im like. AAAAAAAA theres so much to it , its really hard for me to condense into a few sentences AHAHA im so sry for making u read this if u still are. but . i guess i’m not too sure. i think maybe, had i experienced the same pain as those above, it would be easy for me to say the demons deserve to go to the worst hell imaginable regardless of what they’ve gone through because that history isn’t accessible to everyone like it has been the audience (or that they’ve seemingly made the conscious decision to cause harm w/o understanding the ways in which demonhood obscures their original conscious/morality). but at the same time, you have those like tanjiro whose world view is shaped by positive encounters with demons like nezuko, tamayo, yushirou, etc. where it seems very evident that . theres more to it than what meets the eye.

one of my friends ive talked to about this had a rly good perspective on it thats kinda stuck with me since !! she said she likes to view their conclusion as some . separation of identity?? if that makes sense?? that the demon side of them goes to hell while their human form goes to heaven (or division into whichever afterlife). and !! i think thats a really neat interpretation because there’s obvious descrepancy between demon personas and human personas. that the demon personas are like. exaggerations of their flaws, almost (akaza becoming hellbent on battle spirits and physical victories when hajuki’s fury & determination was fueled by love in a sense) while their human personas are the truest sense of self. and depending on which influence there is (muzan vs the appearance of loved ones), their identity changes accordingly. so ! idk ! thats one nice way of looking at it. holding their demon personas accountable while also recognizing that many of these characters deserve some form of healing after many hundreds of years of abuse. its hard because ofc i don’t want to negate the harms they’ve caused but its also? not cut and dry given the environment they were placed in and the fact that muzan’s blood essentially removes their humanity against their will you know. so in this way at least you have both forms of self receiving the proper conclusion.

whwhwhw so im. !!!!!!!!!!!! ah !! i can’t say i have a definite answer but i think the one above is smth thats comforting to me. i think the story settles with sending them to hell once they’ve regained their past self but also .. “softens” it by providing them company by their loved ones who are willing to go w them?? so thats rly cool to look at too. because it holds them accountable for all that’s happened but also.. recognizes that they’re not wholly responsible for it either and that .. even in hell they’re able to keep their connections and human emotions/experiences . its tragic yet oddly. fitting, i think, of the kny narrative. while i like the aforementioned interpretation, i also really.. appreciate the way its set up in canon too. like yeah i want the best for them but also. it fits in with the tragic nature of demonhood and what it meant for them all. oddly enough.

u make a good point too !! about demon slayers experiencing the same hardships but using their pain to help others. i think a lot of it is plainly chalked up to luck in terms of.. what they were exposed to following tragedy. how shinobu and kanae were saved by himejima, tanjiro saved by giyuu, kanao picked up by shinobu and kanae, sanemi given the guidance of kagaya while akaza was killed by muzan during his lowest moment, ume and gyuutarou were cornered by douma, rui misled by muzan, etc. i think circumstance is definitely a large factor in determining the paths that were taken. such as sanemi’s anger being validated and heard by ubuyashiki vs, say, akaza’s same anger being intentionally exploited for muzan’s gain.

aaa anyways. theres a lot 2 be said about this. like. SO much on my mind and obviously the extent of muzan’s abuse goes far deeper than what’s briefly mentioned here but. i love talking about the complexities of kny . and how i view the demons vs the corps and how each of them have grown into their respective stories . AA but ill end it here THNK U >> also so sry for making u read thru all of this i get so excited i could talk abt kny all day long if i had the chance AAA
