gale's early access dialogue transcripts - part 2 b: the loss scene

in early access, gale had two additional major scenes in act i: the deer stew scene and the loss scene, both of which would happen during a long rest at camp.

the scenes in early access usually happened in this order:

-1: first night long rest scene (still in the final game) -2: mirror image scene (still in the final game) -3: deer stew scene (cut content / partially reused in act i) -4: weave scene (still in the final game) -5: loss scene (cut content) -6: tiefling party scene (ea version cut / partially reused in act ii last night alive scene)

you can watch the entire scene here. below you'll find the transcript of the scene itself as well as some additional info / context.

the loss scene revealed more about gale's life before the game, his abilities as a chosen of mystra and as an archwizard, as well as his status and his relationship with mystra. sadly, it was cut and only seems to have survived as (as of now) obsolete code:

at a long rest, gale would have a ! and stand by the fire, trying and failing to cast a spell:

Gale: [Fails to cast a spell] Gale: Khat-Tsjin Deth-Thra! Protag: [Wizard]: That was a failed spell if ever I heard one. Gale: Failure. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. It’s getting late. I think I'll turn in. Perhaps some sleep will do me good. - Protag [Option 1]: You don't sound very happy there, Gale. Gale: Happiness is like a stray cat; sometimes it seeks you out, sometimes it ignores you. Tonight, I'm ignored. It's getting late. I think I'll turn in. Perhaps some sleep will do me good. - Protag [Option 2]: Is something wrong? Gale: Let's just say not all is right. But that goes for all of us. - Protag [Option 3]: Do you mind? I’d like some peace and quiet Gale: Quiet you can have – peace I can’t guarantee. Especially not peace of mind.

Protag [Wizard]: I didn't recognize your hand gestures. What spell were you trying to cast? Gale: A bygone spell from a bygone age. It doesn't matter. - Protag [Option 1]: They say you should never go to bed angry Gale: Isn’t that advice for couples? The only one I’m angry with is myself. Please – just let it rest. - Protag [Option 2]: Ever the mystery man, aren’t you? Gale: I simply have a lot on my mind. - Protag [Option 3]: Suit yourself. Goodnight. Gale: Goodnight.

Protag [Option 1]: [if Protag intiated Gale's romance during the Weave scene] Come, you know I care about you. I showed you when we shared that spell. Gale: So you did. Very well. -> See below - Protag [Option 2]: [Insight] We shared the Weave the other night. Now share what's on your mind. Gale: [Failure] Tonight's not a night for sharing. Tonight's a night for regrets. With that I bid you an evening better than my own. Gale: [Success] -> See below - Protag [Option 1]: [Persuasion] I’m the leader of this party. I need to know what’s going on. Gale: [Success]: Very well. Just now, I was trying to cast a spell I once cast with ease, but I failed. You see, this fire – there was a time that I could make it come alive. That it would take the shape of a dragon and roar in delight. There was a time I could silence a Beholder with a word, and lift a tower from its foundations with a flourish. There was a time I was all but one with the Weave. But no more – a mere shadow of the wizard I used to be. Why? Because I’ve lost. Gale [Failure] You're the leader and I will follow you where you go, not down the path of my own regrets. Gale: I am the man who came after – after having lost... - Protag [Option 3]: If this is meant to be suspenseful, I assure you it’s not. Gale: You don’t understand! I’ve lost… - Protag [Option 4]: It’s all right, you don’t have to tell me. Gale: Thank you. You’re a good friend. I want you to know that - Protag [Option 5]: [Persuasion]: You can tell me. You can trust me. Gale [Failure]: Trust is not the issue. The issue is that the truth doesn’t matter. Secret or revealed, the outcome is the same. Gale [Success]: I’ve lost Mystra. I sought to impress her personally. To turn the eye of my muse upon me. To win the favour of a goddess. But I failed, and all I invoked was death and dismissal. My death. Her dismissal. - Protag [Option 6]: [Insight] Go on. Every burden is easier to carry when shared. Gale [Failure]: I’m strong enough. I’ll carry on alone. Gale: You pray to the goddess for every spell and every blessing. You devote your life to her – are we truly so different? Then again, if that is how you judge me, there’s little I can do to change your mind. But know that I have this ambition still. First to save myself, and after that, the licence to dream.

Protag [Option 1]: I’m sorry for you. Protag [Option 2]: I don't know what to make of what you've told me, but I sympathise. Gale: Thank you. You’re a good friend. Gale: [Weave scene wasn't romantic] I want you to know that. I consider myself very lucky to have found you. -> Protag can initiate alternate romance route here -> See below - Gale: [Weave scene was romantic] I often think of that moment we shared together – one under the Weave. I hope you think about it too. / I'm glad to know you think about it too. [end] - Protag [Option 3]: Another fool pays for his arrogance. A tale as old as time. Gale: Arrogance? Ambition, rather. And ambition is a fine thing – until suddenly it no longer is. Then again, if that is how you judge me, there’s little I can do to change your mind. But know that I have this ambition still. First to save myself, and after that, the licence to dream. [end]

the loss scene also offered another way to initiate gale's romance:

Narrator: *You sense a moment of unspoken affection. You want to know where it may lead.* Gale: I consider myself very lucky to have found you. Protag [Option 1]: I think perhaps we could be more than friends. Gale: Perhaps. - Protag [Option 2]: I consider myself lucky too Gale: Good. Goodnight. And thank you for your patient understanding. / And try not to think too poorly of me. A cat can look at a king. A wizard can look at a goddess. - Protag [Option 3]: Don’t get carried away imagining feelings that aren’t there. Gale: I see. Say no more. Goodnight. And thank you for your patient understanding. - Protag [Option 4]: You are a good friend too, Gale. Gale: Hold on to that thought. I may just have to remind you before all is said and done. Goodnight. And thank you for your patient understanding. - Protag [Option 5]: Lets not get sentimental, shall we? Gale: Fair enough. Goodnight. And thank you for your patient understanding.

after the loss scene ended, the player-initiated dialogue had several options following it: you were able to initiate the romance on gale's perhaps, you could address the fact that he mentioned that he thinks about the weave scene with the player still, and lastly, you were able to ask how he can still cast if he had lost mystra's favour so.

if you picked the "I think perhaps we could be more than friends." option during the loss scene, you could talk about what exactly he meant with gale after by intiating a conversation with him again:

Protag: When I said we could be more than friends, you answered 'perhaps.' What does that really mean? Gale: If I recall correctly, the Waterdhavian Dictionary of the Common Tongue of Faerun defines it as an adverb that conveys the meaning of 'it may be that', or 'possibly'. Sorry, sometimes I can't help but being quite insufferable. Gale: In seriousness, I’m glad you asked that question. Gale: You see, I'm not a big believer in fate, but I do believe in serendipity. Life is a tempest of events that sometimes we brace against and sometimes we embrace. You are on such event, that soon, I would like to embrace.

you could also follow up with him on the mention of him thinking about the weave scene still:

Protag: You said you think about the moment we shared under the weave. Do you think about it often? Gale: Do you? - Protag [Option 1]: Yes. Gale: So do I. You see. I'm not a big believer in fate, but I do believe in serendipity. Life is a tempest of events that sometimes we brace against and sometimes embrace. You're one such event that one day soon perhaps I'd like to embrace. - Protag [Option 2]: From time to time. Gale: So do I. You see. I'm not a big believer in fate, but I do believe in serendipity. Life is a tempest of events that sometimes we brace against and sometimes embrace. You're one such event that one day soon perhaps I'd like to embrace. - Protag [Option 3]: Not really. Gale: And yet you ask. I do, as a matter of fact.

the follow up for the loss scene would also include this dialogue:

Protag: There's one thing, I don't understand. If Mystra abandoned you, how can you still cast magic? Gale: The Weave is still here. All around us. Inside of us, too. As long as the goddess lives, magic is still a tangible thing for those who know how to touch. I've studied magic for many years and in as many ways, I'm still a more than capable wizard. Gale: It's just that I'm no longer able to perform those feats even archwizards would marvel at. To have one hand at the pulse of divinity. You have to remember that the Weave is a living thing. Both the embodiment and the extension of Mystra herself. Gale: She can give and she can take away. I'm afraid I'm still very much on her naughty list.

anyhow, this wraps the loss scene up.

overall, i'm extremely sad this was cut. i think with minor adjustments this scene would have worked not only to combat the scene disparity amongst the companions, but it also would have fleshed out gale's backstory and character even more!

hooo weee this is a long one. A reaction chapter part 1

Charlie is beyond worried.

She and the entirety of Pride sat in anticipation as Hell's highest powers perform the ritual again. Her dad disappeared a month ago and in his absence, she thinks she had handled Pride rather well. Vaggie and her friends were a big help though, as well as her uncles and aunts if they could.

Charlie has not missed once broadcast ever since it aired. Every time she looks for her dad among the demons and every time she's disappointed.

She keeps watching anyway in support- no matter how busy she was. The hotel residents do the same, dropping what they were doing to all sit in the couch together and watch this 'til it ended. The first time it aired created a mass panic that Charlie had to induce a Hellshake to placate her people. It somehow worked.

After the panic, it became the biggest hit "show" in Pride, resulting in the production of legit merch and even a few parodies- like it's just a game, like this can't kill them all.

That craze lasted almost 2 weeks but even the fanatics stopped watching when it was apparent that this wasn't a quick fix. Panic again then calm then panic- over and over and over again.

Vaggie: Babe?

Charlie: Hey, Vaggie.

Charlie tried to give her lover her usual smiles but she thinks she haven't given one ever since her dad left. Worry and guilt are eating her whole and she's just trying to stay afloat.

Vaggie: Hey, come on. What's going on in that pretty head of yours?

Charlie: Flatterer.

Vaggie: Not wrong though. But don't try to change the subject. .. Is it about your dad?

Charlie: I don't think I remember a time in a hundred years when it wasn't. When did it go so wrong, Vaggie? We were so happy when I was a kid..

Something inside the princess whispered her mother's name. She shakes off that thought because there's no way. Her mom and dad loved each other.

'But then why did they split? Why did your mom leave? Why did your dad fall in love with someone again?'

The voices are making a point but there's no chance her dad was going to tell her everything and it's not like her mom is even an option.

When Vaggie told her that Alastor and her dad were something, she tried to think of every moment she saw of her dad and the radio demon together after the hotel was rebuilt. The princess of Hell trusts Alastor but she doesn't know if she can trust him with her dad.

But..

Charlie: Dad is happier.

Vaggie: Huh?

Charlie: Sorry. Was thinking of him and how Alastor is probably helping him come out more than I am.

Vaggie: Hey hey. I know your dad would be devastated if he knew you were thinking that. He loves you and you love him, right?

Charlie: More than anything.

Vaggie: That's my girl. Now why don't we-

Cherri: Holy shit! Guys! The broadcast turned on again!

All of them rushed to the lobby upon hearing the cyclops yell. They thought it was over 30 minutes ago when the nth overlord and Goetia fainted. Guess Vox was a bit afraid he would be next and turned it off to save face.

Angel: Holy shit!

Holy shit indeed. The one on the screen is none other than her dad! And a beautiful lady in white?

Husk: Who the fuck is that?

Nifty: She looks so clean! I wanna know what products she use.

Vaggie: Do you know who that is?

Charlie: Probably who dad was looking for.

Goodie: Such words! Angel, was self-preservation not included when you gave them the fruit of knowledge? Lucifer: Apparently not.

Okay, they clearly missed out on some context because her dad just arrived and he's mad. They watch as Lucifer grabs Velvette's face hard enough to bleed. Everyone is kneeling and seem to be locked in place. Husk eyes Alastor's monstrous form in the background warily.

Husk: Something happened.

Lucifer: I can't blame you. I was not the most present ruler, after all. But I thought I made something very clear when I dealt with that moth man.... I guess one example isn't enough.

One moment Velvette was struggle and the next her fucking jaw is gone!

Angel: Holy shit!

Husk: Ugh! You keep saying that. Don't you have any other words than holy shit?

Angel: 'M sorry, Huskie. But what else am I supposed to say to that huh??

Charlie's winces but her eyes are still glued to the screen as her dad summons his flaming sword and brings it down to the pink demon.

Lucifer: So, let me keep it simple. I'm Lucifer Morningstar. The creator of the first sin. The angel that damned humanity. Even the sinners in the safety of the hotel nodded in fear. Lucifer made a delighted noise and with a clap, Velvette is back in one piece, albeit trembling in Vox's arms.

Lucifer: What? Do you really think I killed her? Sounds counterproductive. We still have a situation at hand and you are no use to me dead. Goodie: Up now! My sister is becoming restless.

Everyone let out a breath they didn't know they were holding. Angel collapsed to Husk's side, when did he even stand up? Nifty didn't move a muscle but her maniacal smile is gone. Cherri started fiddling with an ignited bomb out of nowhere which Angel had to move to throw.

Goodie: Remember, angel, if this fails, you must do what I have told you. Lucifer: Let's start.

Angel: Holy shit.

Holy shit indeed.

SONIC POLL RESULTS

Hello people from this poll! This is a breakdown of the poll results with evidence! Please note that this only included events from the games. But before that lemme preface this with I Did Not expect the poll to get *checks notes* 8,639 votes?!!?? I expected like 150 max. So that’s why some response were kinda exaggerated or just straight up wrong because I’m incapable of counting. So here’s the results!

Option 1: Shadow the Hedgehog gets crucified (TRUE from Sonic 06)

Ok so this is what I meant when I said I exaggerated some stuff. No he does not get nailed to a cross. However, he does get put in T-pose jail.

Considering the context of being forsaken by humanity after the world ends, and that you can’t really nail a guy to a wooden cross in a fiery wasteland, this is pretty damn close to a crucifixion (cyber crucifixion? It is 200 years in the future). I may have exaggerated but I am prepared to stand by it.

Option 2: Sonic gets thrown into a maximum security prison (TRUE from Sonic Adventure 2)

This was way more known compared to option 1. So during SA2 sonic gets framed for stuff he didn’t do as a coverup and he gets imprisoned on Prison Island

Option 3: Tails gets turned into a cyborg (TRUE from Sonic Lost World)

I kinda don’t blame people for not knowing this one since this game was kinda boring, Tails gets captured by the villains of this game and they turn him into a robot to fight Sonic. However Tails was able to circumvent their brainwashing and keep his free will.

Option 4: Knuckles beats the shit out of a ghost (TRUE from Sonic Adventure 2)

This also hails from SA2 as a random one-off boss fight that has nothing to do with the main story. It’s cool as fuck though.

Option 5: Sonic gets Isekai’d twice (TRUE from multiple games)

Ok so I fucked up this one. I only counted the Sonic Storybook Games of which there are two (in which sonic is sent to worlds based around the Arabian Nights and Arthurian Legend). However Sonic has been thrown into different dimensions both in Sonic Rush Adventure and Sonic Forces and probably some others I’m forgetting about. That’s honestly my bad BUT I’m technically still right

Option 6: Eggman asks Sonic “How did you get here so quickly?” (TRUE from Sonic Unleashed)

This is probably the best line in the series since Eggman is being completely serious asking this to his arch-nemesis with super speed. Come on dude.

Yeah so a cat’s pet frog swallowed a chaos emerald, grew a tail, and got chased around the country by both the cat and Eggman’s robots. Don’t worry the frog and cat were reunited safely in the end.

While Shadow has been subject to mind control by an evil alien overlord, been a victim of identity theft by half of a time god (pictured)

and also abducted by a different (or the same?) time god, he has not been possessed and/or controlled by a time god.

Option 9: Amy can turn invisible (TRUE from Sonic 06)

Yes, this is true. It is a one-off ability that is never explained nor brought up again.

I have to talk about this outrageous take that I've seen unfortunately pop up across platforms - i.e. that somehow it was Shoto's decision that Endeavor fought AFO instead of going to help Touya together like they promised. It leads to outlandish statements like Endeavor losing an arm in the fight against AFO is a sacrifice / atonement he made for Shoto.

So I'd like to invite everyone to review the events - and look not just at the dialogue presented, but the context clues and facial expressions to understand what truly happened and not fall for this narrative

Post-Dabi reveal

Yes, you have to go back a 100 chapters to Shouto thinking it's up to him to face Touya - mind you not because he wants to, but because he thinks Endeavor can't / won't.

Enter Rei who tells Shouto he's wrong, that what Touya truly NEEDS only Endeavor can give him - which leads to Shouto offering a hand to his dad. They'll do it together (implication: Shouto will fight / defend while Endeavor tries to talk to Touya).

2. Dark Deku arc

So now we are in the month when Deku is running around trying to find AFO / Shigaraki, while Shoto is trying hold Endeavor accountable to their promise (and Endeavor interpreting it as a personal support). Let's also remember that Touya was out in the open during this period - running to Toga's old house. He wasn't impossible to find with a little effort.

Endeavor was clearly paralyzed with indecision, while Shouto worked on a new move he made specifically for Touya.

3. The battle planning

The battle was planned by Hawks, All Might and Aizawa. Endeavor seemingly didn't participate. I think it was by choice. As still nominal No 1, as part of the Top 3, if he wanted he could have gone and insisted that the plan accommodates for him to face his son. But he chose not to choose, he chose to leave the decision to Hawks, who didn't understand that Endeavor's role was not to fight in that confrontation, and prioritized Endeavor over the promise the family made.

Shoto - a mere student tucked away in UA - had no input into the plan. His opinion was not asked.

4. The eve of the battle

When they receive the assignments on the eve of the battle, Shouto's face is clearly disappointed. And yes, he did receive a call from Endeavor then, but that was once more Endeavor trying to push his choice over to someone else - this time Shouto.

He gave Shouto a non-realistic option to throw a tantrum about him breaking his promise, when it crystal clear that it was too late to change things and Shouto would never inconvenience his friends over family matters. This phone call was not about Shouto deciding on the battle plan, but accepting a bad situation, trying to graciously reassure Endeavor and prioritizing everyone else.

5. Hint: Shouto is not fine

He keeps saying how he wanted this and how he's fine - but to his friends it's crystal clear that he's not fine. He's trying to reassure them, he's trying to rationalize it while his father had to let him down. But you can see on his face that this is not his choice. He hates inconveniencing others, making them worried, making his family problem be their problem.

6. Shouto's true feelings on the matter

Shouto reveals his true feelings about this to Touya. He's doing what he thinks he's right. But he's also criticizing Endeavor for running away from it, for waiting until there was no time to come up with something else. Shouto knows he's not whom Touya wants, but he's here anyways.

7. Endeavor prioritized his hero work and it led to disastrous consequences

There are also the voices to say that only Endeavor could face AFO. But this was not the case. Endeavor couldn't focus on the fight, he lost his cool, had to be bailed out by Hawks, Jirou, Tokoyami. They broke AFO's helmet that was the biggest obstacle.

And when Endeavor beat AFO, he just returned to a more powerful form anyway, which still was handled by a line of "extras", like Hawks, Shiketsu kids or Mineta, not to mention quirkless All Might...

Endeavor was not "essential" to that fight, unlike what Hawks thought.

And him not going to Touya meant that his son was burnt much more badly by the time they met. If Endeavor went with Shouto, they maybe could have been done in 5 minutes with Touya not spiralling with more rage and then both Endeavor and Shouto could have gone to help in other places. Touya's escalation is because Endeavor ignored him again.

But in the end, what did Endeavor achieve? He didn't stop AFO, he couldn't stop Touya, and still had to face him under worse circumstances. In my view, the narrative is not telling us he's making good, noble choices, but that he keeps running away to play hero until the every end.

I think the narrative tells us that it shouldn't be Shouto's job to fix and be the sacrificial lamb in Endeavor's place:

And I think Hori's choice to line up the family at the back of Vol 39 shows that Endeavor still owes them to step up as father, to do right by Touya, to make a choice that puts the family first and not his hero career and most importantly releases Shouto from the burden he's been carrying for him.

As someone who’s been through multiple therapists and psychs, you’re super not wrong about these people bringing their biases to the table. I’m lucky enough that I

1. Was an older teenager

2. Had friends who had had decent mental health help already

3. Already kinda suspected the shapes of what was “wrong with me” and

4. Had an innate sense of “no that seems like bullshit” before I went in with these people.

The first therapist I ever saw met me as a 17 year old alt girl, and when I tried to talk to her about thinking I had anxiety issues she cut me off before I was done explaining and told me I was self diagnosing, that was causing my problem, and we wouldn’t “entertain THAT” any further.

The second therapist I ever saw met me as a 18 year old trans guy, pre-everything, during the pandemic. She listened, but she had no experience with the trans community and I had to teach her everything about anything I wanted to talk about with regards to that. She was nice, but she couldn’t help me. She didn’t know how.

The third therapist I ever saw met me as a 21 year old young man. She figured I had everything sorted out already. I didn’t. She never tried to change her mind or delve deeper. At this point I couldn’t afford to waste my time, so I asked to be recommended to a psych and she said sure. After that we didn’t talk.

The first psych I went to was very kind, and absolutely did not do his due diligence. I came in with a shiny recommendation from a therapist (that he didn’t verify), so he all but handed me the medication with no explanation and I only ever spoke to him over the phone after that. It was a low barrier to entry but the medication wasn’t right and I didn’t know I had other options. He made it seem like I didn’t.

The psych I’m seeing now put me on a medication that reacted poorly with my inhaler because she didn’t cross check if they would be any drug interactions. I came back and asked for a different medication. She was going to put me on a different one, and then I asked her to check if there were any interactions with this one. Turns out there were severe ones. I ended up going with a different medication, it seems to be working. It would probably work better with help from a therapist, but I don’t have the time or money for that right now. And quite frankly I’m tired of trying to convince people to help me when I have to explain what I think is wrong with me for them to listen. Only for them to decide that I’ve already figured it all out and they don’t need to try.

So uh. Yeah. Lots and lots of stories from me and my friends about clinicians of all age and experience ranges that go from horror stories to just disappointing and unhelpful. Some of these people had been practicing for 20-30 years and they STILL weren’t any better at empathy or not being horribly biased.

first of all holy shit it really fucking sucks you had to go through all of these terrible experiences while accessing care you deserve and need. i'm not surprised these terrible interactions happened, and I can't even be disappointed considering the bar of standards is in hell. The "better" experiences a lot of folks have with clinicians align with your second therapist. They are clinicians who just genuinely have no worldview outside of their own, but are receptive to new information...they just have no drive to learn how to apply new frameworks of ways of thinking to expand their worldview and guide their clients. The worst is literal malpractice, ableism, and violence against clients.

a lot of people who go into the mental health field don't actually have the skills related to active listening, empathy, or curiosity based out of humanity. I say this to a lot of people in the social work program, but social work is the same pipeline as mean girls who go into nursing--it's just full of the girls who were not smart enough to go into nursing that decide to go into social work. Same breed of mean girl seeking power over others, just different contexts of public service.

the only hope i have is in the new generations of mental health clinicians who are BIPOC/queer, anti-carceral, disabled themselves, and who are mentally ill as well. I feel more solidarity with my neurodivergent peers in my program who can barely finish an assignment on time than I do with the white women who have never experience hardship in their lives. Not to say neither of these people can't experience easy or hard times in their lives but man....seeing the roadblocks in some of these people's worldviews, empathy, or conceptualizations of other people's struggles is fucked up.

the mental health field is just another medicalized, over-policed, and racist institution that wants to shove people back into the workforce ASAP. we are in hell!! but just know there ARE people and groups and orgs out there that are dedicated to radical work and will name all the hypocrisy, pain, and oppression that exists in working in this field.

Because I'm Bored:

Where do I rank in terms of MCU Loki Apologism?

Things I think Loki was justified in doing:

1. Killing Laufey-For all he knows, this was the man that abandoned him to die from exposure. This is revenge in its purest form and ALSO a way to show his loyalty to Asgard and Odin. And based on the original script, Loki was illegitimate and an unwanted runt abandoned to die (I also think he is not fully Jotun, and I think this played into WHY he was abandoned).

2.Lying to Thor about Odin’s death and his banishment-Loki just discovered he is a Frost Giant, like the ones Thor swore to kill, has been shown to have killed at the slightest provocation, and Asgard thinks of as monsters. Making sure Thor does not return is self-preservation. As a closeted person, I find the idea that Loki should have told Thor or known he would understand, ridiculous.Have you all not heard of living situations with bigoted relatives with a history of violence?

3. Nearly killing Thor with the Destroyer-Notice his previous attempt to keep Thor away did not involve violence and would have sufficed if Thor’s friends had not interfered… Say you have a brother that hates people like you, with a history of violent behavior towards people like you, and with the ability to fry the fuck out of you or smash you into puree with his magic hammer. Would you like to have that brother around?

4. Impersonating Odin and sending Odin to a retirement home-It’s self-preservation. Frigga’s no longer there to plead for his life. And I find it hilarious he was the only one to give Odin a taste of his own medicine. GOOD FOR HER! And how the fuck would he have known about Hela? Odin had been able to break through Loki’s magic, but he just decided to chill on Earth for some reason, and dump Hela’s existence on them.

By the way, I saw an interesting theory that Odin remained on Earth to strand Hela on Midgard so that she’d lay waste to Midgard instead of Asgard, but Loki calling the Bifrost changed that, ironically saving Earth and dooming Asgard. Technically, that would mean Loki unknowingly doomed Asgard, but I am not mad. How much like Odin to shuck his problems away for others to deal with.

5.Escaping from the TVA the first chance he gets. Self-preservation.

6. Being the Villain. Technically, that’s the TVA’s fault. They’ve pruned Lokis whenever they veer away from their ordained path. LOL I feel like Villain PR saying this and I am laughing my ass off. And although it’s for shits and giggles, it’s technically true in the MCU?

Loki’s not justified in:

1. Letting the Jotuns in for shits and giggles. I have seen way to many people claim it’s because he cared for Asgard, and that’s bullshit. He was jealous of Thor and he has no qualms sacrificing others (like the handful of dead guards and Jotuns) to fulfill his plans.

2.Attempted genocide of Jotunheim. Self-explanatory. He was only wronged by one Jotun, not the entire realm, and even if the entire realm had wronged him, genocide is NEVER a warranted option.

3. Cutting Sif’s hair. That’s just unnecessarily cruel. I headcannon he likes to sabotage relationships.

4. The attempted betrayal at Sakaar. Not sure what was going on through his head at that point. I think he got angry because Thor compared him to Sakaar, which he actually hates, and seemed to have given up on him. Or does he think keeping Thor and himself on Sakaar will keep them safer because they won’t confront Hela? I will go with a bit of both. I could DEFINITELY go into Villain PR mode and argue he was justified in trying to keep Thor “safe” in Sakaar because the Revengers didn’t really have a plan other than “go back to Asgard and try to fight Hela and die trying”. But I still don’t personally think it was “justified.”

5. Stabbing Thor. I just included it because it’s not justified based on context, since it came out of nowhere. But I would not use it to condemn how “Evil” Loki has ALWAYS BEEN in those posts complaining about Loki’s woobification. I would need more context on how grave an injury that would be for Asgardians. Is it some typical childhood game/fights wound? Asgardians survive being Hulk smashed, the void, impaled, and a freaking Neutron star. A stab seems like a slap in comparison. It has the same level of justification as slapping your sibling in the face when you were a kid. Unjustified, but not a big deal.

Things I am on the fence about:

1. Whatever the fuck happened for him to end up with Thanos. It’s unclear how much was him and how much was the mind stone, coercion, or some other kind of mindfuckery (there are altered memories (being yeeted by Thor into the Void rather than letting go) and that scene with the Other implying threats, past torture, psychic pain, or future torture). I think he wasn’t exactly innocent nor entirely willing. I think he saw Earth as his brother’s ant farm that he will fuck around with out of revenge, he approached Thanos willingly, but then the Black Order gained too much leverage and control on him, and the situation snowballed out of his control into an avalanche.

Another head-cannon I have is that Loki actually died in the void, but was brought back from Hel. He was willing to do anything to avoid returning there, and it’s why he made sure to try to die in battle in TDW and IW. The need to avoid Hel cultivated a fucked up sense of gratefulness and vulnerability that was exploited by the Black Order (maybe I will write it sometime). I think this because him and Thanos talk too much about resurrections and dying multiple times. Either of my Head cannons imply threats and therefore coercion, even if the Word-Of-God mind stone influence is not involved. But we also don’t know the how and why Loki ended up with Thanos.

2. I don’t think I can blame him for Frigga’s death. I know he blames himself, and he definitely had some malicious intent when giving directions (not towards Frigga). Giving someone the directions to the stairs shouldn’t exactly change much? It’s not like he plotted with the Dark Elves and disabled Asgard’s defenses. The elves were tracking the Aether and would have found it eventually, and Frigga was protecting Jane and willing to sacrifice herself for Jane. Frigga’s death is more on Jane for being reckless and fucking around with unknown phenomena without a scrap of PPE or caution, becoming a mcguffin for the film’s entirety. Jane has the common sense of white people from horror movies. Woman has no braincells. There, I fucking said it.

3. I don’t know how to feel about the opening scene in IW and I hate it. I just think it was a terrible plan and a waste of character development. And we don’t even know if it had any significant positive effects. It was both self-sacrificial and selfish nonetheless. Did it keep Thanos from killing more Asgardians? Did it only save Thor, and was that the only thing Loki cared about? If so, Loki sacrificed the entire universe for his brother. Very in-character, but it was a waste of sacred timeline Loki.

Things other people were justified in:

1. Heimdall being suspicious of Loki and attempting to behead Loki as the king regent. Heimdall was suspicious of the blind spots in his vision. Who can hide from him? Loki. And then he caught Loki quite red-handed.

2. I don’t know why Thor gets so much shit for not knowing what’s up with Loki in Avengers, and I doubt he could help him or that Loki thinks he would or could help him in the first place.

3. The Hulk giving him the ragdoll treatment. It’s hilarious and the best part of the movie. And I mean, he did wreak havoc in NYC.

4. Thor electrocuting Loki in Ragnarok. Loki was about to betray Thor. And again, they are pretty hardy. Loki survived the Hulk, the void, and impalement. Enough said. Could this have ended horribly for Loki? Of course and there are wonderful DEAD DOVE fics about it.

5. Sylvie being angry after he broke the Tempad and got drunk. Self-explanatory. How the fuck does this ever get called “abusive”? They both could have died because of Loki's tomfoolery.

6. Sylvie killing HWR and sending Loki away. It was not “abusive”, she’s barely known Loki for IDK how long. Compare that to having a goal for millenia. And she sent him away because she didn’t want to kill him.

7. Sif kicking him ONCE like it happened in the original timeline because he cut her hair. Self explanatory, and kinda eye for an eye. But what the TVA did was just cruel and unnecessary (and basically torture).

ACOTAR BOOK 1 Slut-shaming scene in cottage.

Sorry for mistakes English is not my first language.

We on the Internet talked already about slut-shaming scene in cottage in ACOTAR. That happened between Feyre and Nesta. In the context of Nesta being assaulted by Thomas, cultural prejudice put in Nesta by their mother and grandmother, just being mean and not konowing how to have a healthy, normal conversation.

I want to present (I hope) a new view of that scene.

We all know that both of Archeron's sisters can’t really talk about a sensitive topic. They assume a lot and react with anger and hurtful words (the intensity of it depends on the sister). So, we can assume that:

Feyre PROBOBLLY never got THE talk about birds and bees. That includes all forms of contraception and how to prevent pregnancy.

Nesta didn’t do it. Her or Feyre would mentioned if that would heppend because it most likely would be a disaster. And their father is in that scene embarrassed enough for Feyre to really notice it, so he as well is out. And Elain is well…. Let’s say that she probably wasn’t the One to take that responsibility on her.

We know she knows the basic mechanics because she had sex and live in the proximity of farms and forests. Which means animals having sex. But she never in her internal monologue think about contraception or pregnancy in general. (At least I didn’t spot it. If I’m wrong, please let me know) + look how fast she falls pregnant with Rhysand.

That post a question what if Feyre would fall pregnant with Isaac Hale? What are her options and consequences for everyone involved?

1. Both we and Feyre and Nesta know that Isaac is not going to marry her. Either because of his parents or it will be his decision. So that option is out.

2. She may have an abortion but:

A) Would she want to have one?

B) Could they can afford one?

C) Do Isaac and his family sponsor one?

3. If Feyre kept the baby would Isaac and his family help Archeron somehow? Would Archerons take the help?

4. Feyre is only or primary breadwinner of the family. What will happen if she, for at least 3 to 4 months, can’t hunt? (let’s say from 5 or 6 months of her pregnancy, at best) We are not counting the months or weeks that would take her to go back to full health AFETR childbirth.

5. They can’t afford a doctor or midwife. We don’t know ANYTHING important about their relationship with other women in the village so we can’t know if they would want to help. (If the Archerons would even ask for that help or take one that would be offered?) But what if Feyre dies or is seriously hurt from pregnancy and childbirth?

6. What if Feyre has a miscarriage or stillbirth? What would be the impact of that on her body and mind?

7. If Feyre delivers a healthy baby that another mouth to feed, right? And for 1 or 0,5 years, she needs to be almost always at home. Just for feeding. So again, no hunting in full ability.

8. Who going to care for that baby when Feyra hunts? Change diapers (and that are the old diapers that must be washed, boil and ironed), look for the baby, play with it, stay up late because they have colic or the first teeth etc. A disabled father that doesn't care for his own daughters, much less his potential grandchild? Elain that in Feyre's eyes is more or less still a baby herself? Nesta? That will probably feel in that moment like Feyre is dumping on her the consequences of her reckless behaviours.

9. They would need to have a baby staff cradle, diapers, clothes, toys, and food. So, the need to buy either the things or materials for it-- so money.

10. Children especially young can be sickly. Would they be able to afford doctors and medicine for them? And that assuming that that child would not have a chronic illness or some form of congenital disability etc.

11. And I'm not even starting on marriage prospects for sisters and the potential social consequences of that for everyone.

Feyras pregnacy would be economic disaster for Archerons.

So my theory is that in that scene, for Nesta could be as much about their survival in case of Feyra geting pregnant as it was for biting back at Feyre for comments on Thomas, cultural prejudice put in Nesta by their mother and grandmother, just being mean and not konowing how to have a healthy, normal conversation.

This is a direct conflict between dave and me, which has nothing to do with my ship. I don't know why dave and you want to put personal problems into the ship tag.

First of all, you have violated my privacy by taking the screenshot of the chat record.

Second, you're an adult, and you think I'm insulting you by sharing nsfw just to have fun with people who share the same interests?

You think you're good and I'm evil? I am now telling everyone that dave removed me from the discord server so that she could find a screenshot of my chat history out of context to attack me, and I can't do anything to fight back.

I used to say these things to you because I trusted you, and you used them as a knife to stab me.

Would any normal person not be offended by the betrayal of his once best friend?

I was really tired, I was just doing what I loved the whole time, I swear to God I didn't do anything wrong to anyone, I was the one being harassed and gaslighted, and now I'm being attacked.

And I don't have the slightest right to be angry and fight back, do I? I'm really too tired to argue with any of you, and if you choose to believe her and think I'm a heinous bad person, then go ahead and just block me.

I repeat,

1. I'm just doing what I love and I'm forgetful.

2. No one wants to watch arguments. Everyone goes online to have fun.

3. I didn't take a screenshot because dave removed me from the server and prevented me from defending myself.

4. Everyone is standing on their own point of view to accuse each other, I am a good person or a bad person, at least you need to identify yourself, not from other people's mouth to know me. Of all the versions of Trigun, this version definitely has WW being the MOST clueless about the nature of Vash and Knives. Not in a "that's beyond me and I don't wanna know" way. In a "WTF did I get myself into, I don't think this is what I signed up for" sort of way.

In the story up to this point, Knives has been built up to be this terrible, terrifying bad guy. But now that he's here, his primary concern seems to be Vash's well-being. Aside from his incredulous face when shouting at Vash for pointing a gun at him (again), his expression throughout this whole scene while he's focusing on Vash has been so soft.

Oop, all softness gone.

Something something body horror. Could you imagine having your whole being shift against your will at the touch of another person? If so, I'm sorry, 'cause the only things I can think of that do that are... trauma.

I do want to note that, should this come up in Stampede, they've set it up much better there. The very first time Knives and Vash have an encounter there, Knives touches him, and... it's not this bad, but it absolutely has an effect that Vash seems helpless to resist.

All these folks were gathered here to supposedly help and protect Knives, and Knives is about to repeat the July incident even though everyone else around them would likely die.

I can totally understand why Ryan wouldn’t want to kill Chris, who is essentially his father figure. At the same time, I do understand why Laura doesn’t see another option. I still think it’s a little extreme for her to immediately want to kill Chris, but I sadly get where she is coming from ;__;

I actually like Ryan’s and Laura’s dynamic quite a lot! More in a sibling than in a romantic way, though. :)

Okay, let’s talk about the infamous “Maybe neither.” Personally, I always thought that in the context of Laura’s question, it simply meant that Ryan likes neither more (and at least the German version translates it as “I like both”), but even if we assume that he likes neither of them … he doesn’t owe Dylan anything. Just like Emma is completely allowed to say No to Jacob without being harassed over it, Ryan is completely allowed to say No to Dylan without being harassed over it. And I say that as someone who ships them.

Speaking off Dylan, I LOVE the scene where Emma “maces” him XD

Yay, I freed Jacob :D The puzzle is still soooo confusing though. I’m kinda glad I avoided it on my first playthrough because I can’t imagine I would’ve ever pulled it off!

WTF is up with the music after Laura gets captured?? And how have I never noticed how unintentionally funny it is??

I’m surprised the dialogue between Abigail and Emma in the beginning stays the same even if she’s infected :O

I heard that Constance’s death apparently got censored in some versions of the game, so I’m happy mine isn’t among them :) She and Travis were the only Hacketts that died on my first playthrough …

Not gonna lie, Jed’s death by Laura’s hand is surprisingly brutal!

I LOVE the moral dilemma of accepting Laura’s bite. On my first playthrough, I accepted Laura’s bite because I hoped that there would be another way to save Chris, but at the same time, I feared that I made the wrong choice. I really didn't want to kill him :-(

You all already know this, but: HOLY SHIT THE SCRAPYARD SCENE IS SO GOOD. The werewolf, the lights, the music! And afterwards, when Dylan begs Kaitlyn to leave him! While it sucks that he won’t be in the lodge later, this scene almost makes it worth it <3 Oh, and I got the trophy for infecting everyone, so now I just need to save them ;-)

And then, the scene with Abi and Emma. Emma’s words to Abi hurt so much T__T Her “Abi …” at the end sounded like an apology :-(

(Btw, I luckily knew what I had to do and escaped via the ladder, but I think it really sucks that going to the stairs is an automatic death sentence.)

On my first playthrough, I refused to shoot Chris during the Hackett showdown, and Ryan, Laura and Travis died. I was freaking devastated. Ryan’s death in particular left me so heartbroken that I had to stop playing for that day, only to have literal nightmares about how Dylan would react to his death. It certainly left a lasting impression on me … only to pull the rug under my feet when I saw what the actual ending of the game was :-/

I love the Hierophant flashback, but damn, I really wish the game would allow you to pick another card afterwards :-/ I think it’s pretty unfair that simply finding this card already makes it impossible to see another card’s vision …

But anyway, I still enjoyed these chapters despite some problems I have with them. :) See you next time, when I finish my replay of The Quarry!

that re:zero rabbit video made me curious about the show so I went through your re:zero tag and now I have more questions than what I started with... only course of action now is to watch the show. do you recommend starting with the anime? should I also read the light novel(s)? ty 🙏

i started w the anime which i feel is easier to get into, i dont think theres anything wrong w just sticking w the anime if thats what you wanna do either! the simple answer is just watch the anime and the ovas in-between season 1 and 2. if you like that then you can totally pick up the ln, thats what i did! but the more complicated answer is

start with season 1, obviously. and there's a "break time" short for the first 11 episodes, these are optional but i feel like they add a bit to the story

then watch the memory snow ova, followed by the frozen bonds ova. you could ALSO watch the memory snow ova between arcs 2 and 3 of the anime (after episode 11), since that's when it takes place chronologically. this is up to you. memory snow is light-hearted character fun so it doesn't matter much, but frozen bonds is actually important and should be watched before season 2.

so yeah after frozen bonds watch season 2 (arc 4). season 2 ALSO has break time shorts which are actually more high quality and relevant (but still generally comedic) than season 1's, so i actually really recommend watching those after every episode. you wont lose TOO much by not doing so though

after that is the upcoming season 3 (arc 5). you can wait for it to drop sometime in 2024, or you could read the light novel. there are a couple of things that sort of get skipped over in the anime... but as long as you read the post-arc-4 interludes you should be fine and you'll figure everything else out w context clues. unless you want to go back and reread, thats a different story

and if you do decide to read it, the website witchculttranslations translates all content from the webnovel! including the main story and a lot of sidestories!! (sidestories optional)

aaand if you do that, then i also recommend checking out the what:if routes. these are special stories that get posted every year on subaru's birthday (april 1st) that take place in alternate timelines. timelines where subaru makes the wrong choice at a certain juncture, and the story takes a completely different path. there isn't an important read order for these, but here are the places in which they diverge:

pride:if diverges from arc 1, wrath:if diverges from arc 2, sloth:if diverges from arc 3, greed:if diverges from arc 4, and gluttony:if diverges from arc 6.

i recommend not reading any of the what:ifs until after reading/watching arc 5, and not reading gluttony:if until after arc 6!

Imo, one season’s result doesn’t tell the full story of a driver if you don’t factor in context. I know there’s a lot of recency bias going around rn but as a whole, and this is with I believe 3/4 yrs now would you agree that Sainz is more of a race conductor than Charles. This is just my opinion, regardless of the outcome of this season, I think Charles is levels above Sainz. But he seems to always accept what Ferrari throws at him. I’ve had this same slight criticism of Lewis too💀 he’d complain about the call but after Bono “sweet talks” him for a few laps, he’d find a way to make it work. I always hear people say that Charles is an incomplete great driver but maybe that extra that he needs is that proactivity. I guess you could argue that race orchestrating is also part of what makes a great driver but meh idk.

Race conductor meaning :

I wanna say first of all thinking Sainz is the one doing it the most is recency bias in itself for me. I've seen many drivers take things into their own hands over the seasons I've watched, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

Gonna be a bit more general because my poor memory doesn't allow me to recall any call Sainz has made aside from the Lando DRS thing from last year tbh. I think the real question is whether being a "race conductor" like you say is really 1) working (more often than on anecdotal level) 2) worth it.

Most drivers suggest things to their team. "We should try to undercut" or "the soft is the better option" or whatever. Few drivers just do whatever they want. First of all the team has all the info and sees the big picture they can't see from the cockpit. Bono "sweetalking" Lewis is just him reassuring him that the team knows this is the best way and Lewis making it work is him trusting them that he can. Second of all going against your team's opinion may lead to conflict, especially if it turns out you're wrong.

Right now Sainz has nothing to lose, he's leaving the team anyway. He can take risks.

Who do you think is getting it on in episode 7? I feel like it's Matsson, no idea why. Maybe him and Shiv. They look kinda flirty in the stills, and the mid season trailer.

Wait, has there been a specific leak about someone banging in episode 7?? Or are we just assuming this is what the title "Tailgate Party" is about.

Without any additional context... yeah, I can see the argument for shivlukas based purely on that mid-season trailer. I'm hesitant to go all-in on it though... there's something about it that just rubs me the wrong way? I'm not even sure what. I think a lot of it has to do with how I perceive Lukas Matsson as a character... I just feel like any sort of shivlukas thing would feel slimy to me, maybe even more than romelukas? I think because the idea of Roman having some kind of interest in Matsson was set up in season 3, whereas Shiv has always had a lot of disdain for Matsson, so them suddenly getting it on would likely be purely due to the emotional turmoil she and her sibs are feeling in the wake of Logan's death, which makes it icky to me in a way romelukas wouldn't necessarily be. Not in a bad-writing way, just in a.... gah. I don't know. I want better for her.

romelukas and romanmencken have been tossed around enough I feel like I need to throw them out there, although I think romelukas is more likely. I think an explicit Roman + Mencken sex scene isn't really necessary for what the writers are trying to get across in the Roman-Mencken dynamic. I also think Mencken is homophobic. There's absolutely no textual evidence for this, he just seems to me like the kind of guy who would be homophobic. So if it's a Roman sex scene it's probably romelukas (I keep thinking about the Georgia Pritchett interview waaay back when they were writing season 4 when she said they'd been discussing Roman's sexuality recently. Why?)

Honourary mention to kenstew and tomshiv and tomgreg as options as well. Of all of those, I think tomshiv hate sex is probably the most likely. But the truth is - I don't know! People don't actually have a ton of sex on this show, and when they do it's for VERY specific narrative and character purposes. I think this is where I keep getting stuck - I'm not at all sure where the season is going to go, and what the key themes and character developments would be, so it's hard for me to really nail down any kind of prediction.
