Fun facts abt residents according to Ikevamp Radio (ヴァンなま) Part 2
Continuing with the Ikevamp radio findings (& some stuff w/the VAs) I have episodes 4-7 this time!!! (also pls take this with a grain of salt bc idk how much of this is canon according to Cybird)
Episode 4: It’s just Vincent and Sebas’s VAs!!
youtube
Morishi emphasizes that he’s a special guest, not a permanent part of the show, Makki says that there should prob be only one MC. They settle on Morishi being a guest-regular
ANYWAYS ONTO THE BATH SEGMENT
Vincent’s learning to sing the song Sebas taught Leo in episode 1 & 3 (for anyone curious, the original song is called Ii yu dana [いい湯だな] by the Drifters [ザドリフターズ] and it was a song the group sung at the end of their TV show/stage from the 70s–late 90s. Sebas knowing that song would mean he was alive during this time period)
Sebas hears him hum, Vincent is embarrassed, telling him to forget he ever saw him singing
During the day, Vincent saw Sebas cutting and sorting the gardens, to which Sebas references Nippon Mukashi Banashi (Folktales of Japan) where so many Japanese folktales start with a character cutting grass/weeds
Vincent recalls that Theo called MC “hondje” and “dog”, worries that she might be offended at those names
Sebas reassures him that MC has a strong spirit, and shouldn’t worry abt her much
Sebas comments that while Vincent and Theo are siblings, they have completely different personalities
Vincent answers that many people have stated this, wonders what he has to do to make others believe that they are brothers
Sebas has Vincent do impressions of Theo, starting w/Vincent calling Sebas “hondje” but Vincent just calls him “wanchan” (doggy/puppy) instead
Sebas makes a weird/loud noise, saying that that’s just an angel playing with a puppy (the part where Sebas loses his sanity. Actually he’s losing more of it as the episodes continue)
Vincent relents, quietly mumbling “hey, hondje” to Sebas
Sebas says he’s so close, just needs to be a bit more intimidating
Vincent repeats “hey, hondje” with more determination, Sebas replies “I have received Master Vincent’s ‘hey hondje!!!!’” (Sebas is crazy I swear)
Sebas pressures Vincent to say “I will make you my dog,” like Theo, to which Vincent questions if Theo has ever said that
Sebas quickly answers yes, forcing Vincent to say the phrase but worded more respectfully “I will make you my dog, okay?” (peer pressure is never okay, ESPECIALLY concerning Vincent)
Sebas is satisfied with the result, saying that the two brothers are really related
(I LEGIT DON’T KNOW WHAT’S WITH THIS EPISODE)
Sebas confesses that he just wants to see Vincent as a sadist and Vincent just sweat-drops
In this episode’s “Can you tell me… your name?” segment… (aka my fav part of the livestream—lol it’s not even the skit in the thermae)
Sebas’s chosen line was “I’ve boiled the pumpkin” (this was done during Halloween, that’s what’s with the pumpkin). There were a lot of food-related names, so Sebas would say “Cucumber, I’ve boiled the pumpkin” or “Miso soup, I’ve boiled the pumpkin” and many others (mushroom, pig, tomato, sweet potato, radish, shiitake, hanpen)
There was also one in which Morishi said “Aramaki, I’ve boiled the pumpkin” to which Makki replied “thank you,” and another with “Vincent, I’ve boiled the pumpkin”
Episode 5: feat. Theo’s VA Sato Hisanori & Earl Rose (ローズ伯爵)
youtube
First episode where there is video in the livestream (it was previously just audio)
(I love watching VAs play their roles so this episode is prob one of my favs)
Sato realizes what kind of crazy show this is when he has to say “konvampire” instead of “konbanwa” (good evening) as a greeting. I feel like every guest other than Tsuda has said this (at least implied) but Sato just straight up says this
Sato calls Makki “nii-san” (big brother) when they first greet each other, referencing their roles as Vincent and Theo (also, fun fact, the two VAs are born in the same month of the same year)
Sato asks the viewers who they like the most out of Vincent, Theo, and Sebas. The viewers overwhelm them with calls of “Vincent!!!”
Sato asks for them to stop, changing questions, asking the viewers who wears the best clothes out of three (Makki, Morishi, and Sato). The viewers still say Makki, though there are some saying Sato
Earl Rose is a guest for this episode. He is the lord (read: owner) of the vampire cafe in Ginza. (he’s basically here to promote the ikevamp collab w/his Vampire Cafe) Sato looks freaked out/uncomfortable by the earl. The three eat the collab foods and drinks provided (it looks pretty good tbh)
NOW ONTO THE “I LOVE YU” SEGMENT
Vincent sinks down to his shoulders in the waters, Theo can’t find him for a bit
Theo and Vincent enjoy spending time w/each other
Sebas can hold his breath underwater (in a hot bath) for 5 min. He did so to not interrupt the two brothers’ conversation (Sebas becoming more and more ooc)
Vincent stated that his previous record was 3 min 46 sec. Sebas said that “as a butler of this mansion, I shall keep on improving” (Theo doesn’t know what the heck is happening, but Vincent seems to be enjoying himself so he let’s go)
Vincent & Theo have never fought (as expected of such bros. Now that I’m rereading this I’m sure this is reinforced in various routes so maybe I don’t need this info)
Sebas (who tries to create some tea---figuratively) asks Vincent what he would do if his pancakes were covered by tons of syrup by Theo, to which Vincent replies “I will give those pancakes to Theo.”
Sebas switches over to Theo, asking him what he will do if Vincent steals his syrup before he can eat the pancakes. Theo answers “Easy. I’ll give the pancakes to my brother. It would mean that he wanted to eat pancakes so badly that he would steal the syrup”
There’s around 2-3 times where Theo almost gets angry at Sebas and Vincent has to stop him (pats his head and stuff)
Theo asks why Sebas is acting weird, to which Vincent believes its bc he’s working too hard, so they should help him out & fulfill his hopes/wishes
Sebas has a voice recorder??? Theo doesn’t know what it is
Theo doesn’t approve being recorded, but Sebas goes to Vincent for protection, who calms Theo
OK I don't talk about this segment much but for the first time since the episodes’ release, there was a tie in the votes in the drawing segment (van Gogh’s drawing section) between Morishi and Makki. Usually, they’ll give the best voted piece to a randomly selected winner w/the VA’s signature, but instead of giving out both pictures, they gave out Makki’s art piece (bc he’s van Gogh lol)
(they didn’t do the “Can you tell me…your name?” segment this episode, but this episode is legendary in my mind!!! So funny and entertaining)
Episode 6: No special guests!! Just Sebas and Vincent
youtube
Makki finally lets the viewers choose the official position of Morishi (guest, regular-guest, regular, or dyungyun). He’s officially the dyungyun (でゅんぎゅん) It’s an exclamatory phrase meaning exciting/heart-beating I think… I’ve been watching 6 episodes of the radio but I still don’t know what that phrase means exactly
Welcome to another episode of Sebas slowly losing his sanity! In today’s “I love yu” segment, Sebas makes his appearance by jumping into the baths!!!
Apparently Sebas has an urge to swim when he sees the large baths, and even is a first-class swimmer (スイミング一級) I think it’s a scale on how great he is at swimming, and it would mean he’s pretty good
Vincent has also seen him swim butterfly (idk if it's in the baths or in a pool but imagining Sebas swimming butterfly in the hot baths is amusing)
Vincent likes eating the motsunabe (もつ鍋), a type of hotpot that Sebas made
As an adult, Vincent spends his Christmas season painting, but as a child, he would spend time w/Theo baking cakes, decorating trees, or playing in the snow
One time, Theo cried when a snowball hit him in the face
The two decide to do yaminabe (闇鍋) w/the residents. It is when you darken the room, and anyone can put anything in the hot pot. Vincent’s curious what the others will decide to put in the hot pot.
They created a new segment in the show called “Vanmana Involuntary Awards 2017” (ヴァンなま勝手にアワード) where they review the year 2017 with things related to Ikevamp and the radio. The first award is the most popular phrase which ended up being voted as “dyungyun”. The second is deciding on the best artwork produced in the “van Gogh’s drawing section” with the winning piece being a drawing by Makki titled “A woman being kabedon’d by an Ikemen in a dark room” (yes that’s the title). The third is voting on what the viewers want ikevamp to do in the future (ex. Voice drama CDs, more livestreams, raiding Ikesen, etc.) with the winning choice being to raid Ikesen. And in turn, it is implied that Ikesen would raid Ikevamp. The last is asking the viewers if there has been any change (physically, mentally, emotionally) ever since they started watching the radio, with the most votes on the viewers being more interested in Morishin and Makki.
AND of course, my fav segment “Can you tell me… your name?” Vincent’s chosen line was very nice “Christmas? I don’t need anything. All I want is (y/n) alone.”
BUT Sebas’s chosen line is (drumroll please…) “(y/n), did you write your New Year’s greeting card?” and the first name he called out was “Santa-san, did you write your New Year’s greeting card?” AND I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING
Other names used were reindeer, postbox, and dyungyun (most were legit names tho)
They also did a third phrase where after saying (y/n), Sebas and Vincent will say a line, and I guess the staff felt bad for Sebas or smth bc he has legit lines in all of the available options. It was decided that Vincent would say “(y/n), I love you,” (大好きだよ) and Sebas would say “I love you” (愛していますよ) after Vincent (Both mean the same thing, just worded differently. Vincent's "Daisukidayo" would prob be closer to "I like you" meanwhile Sebas's "Aishitemasuyo" would be "I love you" if I were to be very specific)
I thought people would submit serious names (many did) but there were names like ice, carbonara, butter, napolitan (many varieties of pasta). There was also Rose and the two VAs were like “Earl Rose??? You watch this???"
Episode 7: feat. Comte’s VA Horie Kazuma
youtube
OMG Comte’s VA has such a sexy cool voice I can’t
So I didn’t know this, but you can talk to Vincent on Amazon Alexa?? I don’t have one so idk if it still works but apparently it’s called “Vincent’s time” (フィンセントの時間) and Vincent can tell you the time of day and you can talk to him and stuff??
Video showing Vincent's Time here part 1 part 2 part 3
It’s so funny how similar Horie is to Comte bc Makki and Morishin will be loud and talkative while Horie just watches over the scene like a parent
ANYWAYS for the thermae skit…
It’s rare for the others to meet Comte in the thermae since Comte baths at a later time than the others
The topic of today’s thermae episode is mainly about the construction they have in the baths (prob in another part of it??) Sebas came back running after looking at it, Comte and Sebas told Vincent not to worry about it (WHAT IS HAPPENING OVER THERE??? we'll never know...)
Vincent wants to paint scenes he’s never seen so he’d like to go out to various places
After living for so long, Comte said he’s starting to lose the concept on the importance of New Year’s and New Year’s resolutions (this episode was broadcast on Jan of 2018)
Vincent says that Comte’s like a father, to which he replies, “Haha, I’m not like a father. When you call me something as young as a ‘father,’ it makes me feel embarrassed. I’m probably way older than you two think I am”
Sebas replies, “Oh, of course. None of us know how old Comte actually is”
Comte continues, “It’s rude to ask a vampire their age. Besides, men like to keep their secrets hidden.” To which Sebas is like “As expected of le Comte. That is admirable.”
According to Sebas, Jean has a breast fetish?? Sebas apparently knows nothing else abt Jean other than that single fact
So… the “Can you tell me… your name?” is *chef’s kiss* amazing as usual
Comte’s line was “(y/n), I won’t let you go” and for one of the names, he said “Aramaki, I won’t let you go” & you can tell the staff were laughing.
So Sebas… his chosen line was “(y/n), isn’t this bed a bit hard?”
There was “Comte, isn’t this bed a bit hard?” and Horie replies “No,” in his Comte voice & it’s amazing. There’s also “Aramaki, isn’t this bed a bit hard?” and Makki replies “Yup.”
Other notable names include bed, obachan (Auntie), Morishima (yes the VA’s asking himself) and employee (店員さん)
Also Morishi does voice-percussion at the end of the stream and… I’ll just say it’s interesting :))
(Also the updates will prob be daily since I've watched & have the next couple parts written already. I just have to watch the last couple & write about it, which should be done soon)

Late Night with the Devil (2024) review
Tumblr media
Nothing beats retro 70’s demonic haunting. It was a simpler time…
Plot: Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated talk show ‘Night Owls’ that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country. However, ratings for the show have plummeted since the tragic death of Jack's beloved wife. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, on October 31st, 1977, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other- unaware he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America.
Ladies and gentlemen, please do not adjust your television sets, for there is a new found-footage horror film in town from the indy circuit, and it might just breath the right amount of fresh air into an oversaturated genre. Personally I’ve never been a major fan of found-footage. I hear folks raving about the original Blair Witch Project yet all I watched was a bunch of guys running around the woods screaming endlessly for no reason. Additionally the shaky-cam element can be so dizzying and sickly that I truly end up questioning the entertainment value of it all. There are exceptions to the rule of course. 2008’s science fiction invasion popcorn flick Cloverfield was tons of fun, as it provided a genuine experience of what it would be like if you were thrown right into the middle of monster attack in the millennial age. There are also some genuine scares and the found footage format worked really well with the film’s themes. I too enjoyed the 2020 black comedy Spree, where Joe Keery’s driver goes on a murder spree whilst constantly filming himself in hopes of becoming a viral sensation. It may not be a five-star ride, but it earns its tip for being a well crafted and inspired effort. To be fair, The Visit from M. Night Shyamalamadingdong was enjoyable piece of horror involving creepy grandparents. Okay, maybe I do enjoy found-footage flicks, but as long as they are decently made and that format style supports the narrative in a cohesive and advantageous way.
With Late Night with the Devil, ideologies of faith and the paranormal are challenged through the lens of the late-night TV format. Think how the 1976 Network analysed the corruption of the television industry, and how the camera can influence the politics and beliefs of those watching, Late Night with the Devil does the same but with the supernatural. Presented as a rediscovered master tape of a notorious Halloween late night special, it feels like we’re watching an actual talk show in real time, and the 70’s inspiration is in full display here from the grainy monitor display to the costumers to the special effects. It truly feels like we’re looking into a time capsule of the past, and that this all really happened. Again, found-footage as a filmmaking style works when it serves the purpose of the narrative, which in this case it does. It is a shame then that the movie in its finale loses the found-footage element and instead opts for the shock value by showcasing a dream-like vision of one of the characters. Granted at the time of watching the ending it did give me a “what the fuck” reaction that the movie was going for, but looking back this sequence did hinder what otherwise was a fantastic piece of creepy unique horror.
Performances across the entire cast were great and really dedicated. Wonderful to see David Dastmalchian finally get a leading role, as he’s always been a stand-out supporting performer, whether he was polka-dotting in The Suicide Squad, or stealing the comedic limelight from Paul Rudd in the Ant-Man movies, or being a haunting presence in every Denis Villeneuve epic. Dastmalchian is a true scene stealer, and at age 48 it is shocking that only now he finally gets a lead role. Regardless he is fantastic as Jack Delroy, as he balances the charming charisma of a late-night talk show host whilst also showcases the inner demons of this character, still mourning the recent death of his wife, as well as his eagerness to become relevant again after consistently losing ratings. From the quivers in his voice to the fear in his eyes, this is a really juicy showcasing role for Dastmalchian and one that is sure to be a memorable one when looking back on the actor’s rich filmography. Ingrid Torelli as Lilly the possessed survivor of a Satanic cult was truly creepy and unnerving. From her voice changes to her awkward movements, she truly felt unnatural, or dare I say supernatural, and her strangeness was at times even comical, but also really uncomfortable. Ian Bliss as Carmichael Hunt, a paranormal sceptic, too gave a powerhouse performance, delivering lines with prowess and was a truly commanding presence. Rhys Auteri rounds up the cast as Gus the announcer of Jack’s late night show, acting very befit of, say, a Higgins for Jimmy Fallon or a Guillermo for Jimmy Kimmel. He very much embraced the role as Dastmalchian’s side-kick and provided some solid light-hearted comedy to the proceedings.
Late Night with the Devil is a true delight for horror enthusiasts, with some great use of old-school practical effects evidently inspired by 1982’s The Thing, solid sound design that harkened back to that era of television, and enough unsettling moments of suspense to entertain and shock. Minus a couple of cheap electrical sparks there isn’t any CGI used which is refreshing, and overall visually the retro element was truly delightful. Again, the ending does scratch some heads, but overall this is a refreshing piece of campy horror, with a showcasing performance from Dastmalchian. In this you can truly put your faith on.
Overall score: 7/10

Every October from 1966 until 2020, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" etched itself into across the collective consciousness of young darklings with it's once a year broadcast on network television. (To watch it, click on the above link & jump to 5:45 on the timeline.) The importance of "The Great Pumpkin" to me and my fellows, regardless darkling or normie, cannot be overstated. Elementary school children simply did not miss "The Great Pumpkin." However, it lost much of it's 'weight,' for lack of a better term, once VCR's became available. Prior to those wondrous devices, you literally only had one chance per year to watch "The Great Pumpkin" - that's it. To be a kid & miss "The Great Pumpkin" airing was akin to Linus fainting and missing the arrival of The Great Pumpkin, himself. I recall hearing the tragic tale of one kid on the school bus who had missed the airing the previous night as his house had lost power & we all sat in silent horror at this revelation - a fate worse than death or dentist visit.
Tumblr media
Of course, me being me, I had already somewhat prepared for such an unthinkable eventuality by having acquired a copy of the 1967 book adaptation of "The Great Pumpkin." In the 70's, my folks choose to live in the boonies, so losing power for no reason was something that could happen. Fortunately, I never did have to cower in a dark corner, clutching my well worn book copy, silently cursing the Fates for inflicting such an indignity upon me. After all, this was one of those vanishingly rare instances where the book version was objectively not as good as the TV version.
Tumblr media
(Just as an aside, my fav Charlie Brown character was always Schroeder. I never gave it much thought, but Schroeder is actually kinda goth with his dark colors, quiet demeanor, & music obsession, so...makes sense. I imagine when he hit his teen years, he joined a goth band, died his hair black, & played wicked dark keyboards at countless gigs.)
Tumblr media
Fast forward a few years & I can still vividly recall my profound shock at learning a friend of mine, who owned an early VCR, had recorded "The Great Pumpkin" upon it's previous airing. It was a singular wonder to be able to watch something you could previously only have seen once a year, watch it whenever you want, & not even need to find the most sincere pumpkin patch as prerequisite to do so. It was as if you could reach up into the heavens &, with a simple twist of hand, rewind the celestial sphere back in time to the previous eclipse or passing of Haley's Comet, so staggeringly cosmic in power it seemed. There we sat, watching "The Great Pumpkin" in early December of 1981 & it was a big enough deal to me that I still remember it as if it happened merely a month ago. And I wasn't even really that much into it anymore as I was 11 going on 12 at that point & was eager to put 'childish things' behind me. But I still watched it right the way through. I'm sure it found it's way to most folks VCR's during the 80's, & was officially released on VHS in 1988 & DVD in 2000, so I'm sure nowadays it's a rare household with children which lacks their own copy of "The Great Pumpkin."
Tumblr media
Of course, there were other Halloween children's specials eager to rake in the chips like "The Great Pumpkin" did, but none of them ever reached the same level of quality as "The Great Pumpkin." Unlike most other Halloween children's specials, "The Great Pumpkin" has several sequences that, to a child, are legitimately spooky, such as the intro sequence, Snoopy making his way behind enemy lines, & the rising of 'The Great Pumpkin' in the pumpkin patch. I can still recall cynically thumbing through the TV Guide at any given year's new entries & weighing each against "The Great Pumpkin." Be it "Halloween is Grinch Night," "Fat Albert's Halloween Special," or "Bugs Bunny's Howl-oween," all were decidedly lacking. There were some older ones that I'd see on local independent stations that were reasonably good, such as the stop motion "Mad Monster Party" but even that was still a distant second. To this day, no Halloween children's special can hold a Jack-o-lantern to "The Great Pumpkin."
So this Halfway to Halloween, take a 25 minute break to revisit everyone's favorite Halloween special, & may the pumpkin patch in your particular neck of the woods always be the most sincere.

RIP Kiss 1973-2023
Hard rock legends Kiss played their final show at Madison Square Garden last night. Hard to believe these arena rock veterans who have been playing my entire life have called it a day.
Tumblr media
Kiss in 1973
Tumblr media
Kiss in 2023
I first got into Kiss in the late 80s, hearing their 80s work and then going back and learning about their golden age in the 70s. They define big arena-based rock and their concerts are spectacles. I saw them in concert in 1998 on the Psycho Circus Tour in Boston and in 2003 at Madison Square Garden in a co-headlining tour with Aerosmith. They are always the concert equivalent of an big summer event movie! In my Public Speaking class I took in college, I did a presentation about Kiss and their devoted fanbase, so Kiss (and Alive 1, 2, and 3) will always have a special place for me. I even have their Wicked Lester bootleg on cassette (quite good actually).
Tumblr media
me in 1994 on Halloween as Paul Stanley
In 1994 when I was in high school, I went as Paul Stanley for Halloween. I had the makeup and remained in character the whole day (I was a method actor!).
Tumblr media
Kiss Marvel comic from 1977 (I have my re-print from the 90s)
youtube
Kiss toy commercial from 1978
To say they have been a tremendous part of pop culture would be a colossal understatement. There have been movies, comics, TV shows, books, games, action figures and music about Kiss. I have my copy of their 1978 TV-movie Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park on DVD!
Thank you Kiss for the music and the memories!

Edwright (is that how it’s spelled)
that is absolutely not how it's spelled but i appreciate the effort. thank u king
who hogs the duvet: phoenix hogs it when theyre going to sleep bc edgeworth takes forever to fall asleep & remains very aware of his share of the blankets. and then when they wake up edgeworth has ALL the blankets & phoenix has none.
who texts/rings to check how their day is going: both, constantly. edgeworth once faked his death and disappeared for a year. phoenix once fell 70 feet off a burning rope bridge into a frozen river. they are always worrying about each other. will text to check in while in different rooms of the same building.
who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts: edgeworth. phoenix always asks trucy/maya/pearl to help with gifts because he cant think of anything.
who gets up first in the morning: edgeworth
who suggests new things in bed: neither theyre old and boring (phoenix)
who cries at movies: both, edgeworth is usually fine but gets hit really hard by seemingly random movies & cries for a really long time when no one else does. phoenix cries a little bit at absolutely everything.
who gives unprompted massages: phoenix. clingy bastard
who fusses over the other when they’re sick: edgeworth. if he doesn't fuss enough phoenix will just pretend he isnt sick and run himself into the ground. the man got hit by a car and broke out of the hospital to go to court the next day. he wasnt even a lawyer at the time.
who gets jealous easiest: edgeworth
who has the most embarrassing taste in music: phoenix's playlists are specially curated for maximum cringe. he has different options depending on who he's trying to bother. as far as his genuine taste, it's literally fine. but edgeworth unironically and very secretly LOVES the soundtrack to the pink samurai musical.
who collects something unusual: edgeworth canonically collects silver samurai stuff i think? but also they both have weird shit that the kids give them. kay's made a game out of stealing the weirdest little trinkets to pass on to edgeworth
who takes the longest to get ready: edgeworth. if phoenix combs his hair before getting in the car that's a lot for him. edgeworth wears a cravat.
who is the most tidy and organised: edgeworth
who gets most excited about the holidays: christmas to new years isn't a great time for them, so neither. the kids love halloween, so they both get excited about that (phoenix slightly more so) and edgeworth really likes valentine's day even though he pretends to think it's silly.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: phoenix big spoon
who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports: edgeworth
who starts the most arguments: they don't seriously argue often, phoenix can tell when edgeworth's annoyed by something & they talk it out. but also theyre both lawyers and will have arguments for fun over anything and everything. strangers observing think that their marriage is in shambles. they're having a great time.
who suggests that they buy a pet: phoenix is a "we should get a puppy" person. edgeworth reminds him that they already have a dog once a week.
what couple traditions they have: they celebrate the anniversaries of important cases. sometimes phoenix will make up a case anniversary to get edgeworth to buy him dinner. edgeworth knows, of course.
what tv shows they watch together: canonically, all those samurai shows that miles likes. i also think they'd like survivor. and actually phoenix adopted a 7 year old in 2019. this is a bluey household
what other couple they hang out with: franziska and maya (fun, pleasant, good sibling bonding), apollo and klavier (oh god why did we agree to spend time with them this is awful). also i like to think they're still friends with lana skye & she's got a girlfriend/wife now.
how they spend time together as a couple: going out for dinner after long days in court, staying in the house all day whenever possible, taking trucy to her magic shows, walking pess, they do literally everything together
who made the first move: i mean. mr phoenix "elle woods" wright became a lawyer to find this guy again. if that doesn't count...
who brings flowers home: phoenix
who is the best cook: edgeworth's cooking is safe but tastes bad. phoenix is a safety hazard but it tastes great. they get takeout most of the time.

Late Night with the Devil
2024.13
Really fantastic “found footage” style horror flick. In the late 70s, a midnight talk show host on the brink of cancellation runs a special Halloween night episode as a stunt to try and grab some ratings. Then shit goes HORRIBLY wrong. After a short tabloid TV style intro about the history of the show “Night Owls with Jack Delroy,” the rest of the flick is presented as the recently discovered master tape of the episode in question. Incredibly effective and disturbing to watch, which is a good thing.

Late Night with the Devil (2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
October 31, 1977. Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated late night talk show NIGHT OWLS that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country. A year after the tragic death of Jack’s wife, ratings have plummeted. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other, unaware that he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America.   IFC Films and Shudder will distribute the movie in the US. Filmed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Producer Roy Lee was quoted saying the following about the film: "I almost didn’t read the script, because I was like, ‘That is such a cheesy title. There is no way this movie is going to be something that’s not going to be just a B-movie.’ But then I was told by a person I trust, ‘You have to read this script.’ I am so glad I read the script. I don’t know if anyone remembers the show The Larry Sanders Show. Imagine that, and this is the last episode being shot because Larry decides to do an on-air exorcism that goes awry and causes this to be the last episode." The Cairnes brothers said the following about the film: "In the ’70s and ’80s there was something slightly dangerous about late-night TV. Talk shows in particular were a window into some strange adult world. We thought combining that charged, live-to-air atmosphere with the supernatural could make for a uniquely frightening film experience." Written/directed by Cameron Cairnes and Colin Cairnes (duo behind 100 Bloody Acres and Scare Campaign). Vertigo Releasing and Shudder releases Late Night with the Devil in UK Cinemas on March 22, 2024. IFC Films and Shudder releases Late Night with the Devil in Theaters on March 22, 2024. What is Your Checklist of Terrifying Movies
If you can obtain on point I have uncovered about motion picture, it is that films are subjective for the most portion. Whilst your greatest pal may well perhaps have a main 10 checklist of terrifying video clips that fully creep him/her out, your record of horror movies may possibly perhaps be totally different. No anxieties! This is to be anticipated. It stems from the issue that we all harbor special fears that's why we are positive to be frightened of exclusive creatures, maniacs, goblins, ghosts, monsters, aliens and ghouls. Do you know what your checklist of prime terrifying films is designed up of? On the internet you can continually area lists of top rated rated motion pics. Whether or not they tumble into the intimate comedy, science fiction, horror, thriller, dram or experience group, you are confident to appear across numerous in cyberspace. Even so, it is genuinely important to recall that a listing of some movie nut's significant fifty scary films of all time could fully contradict your viewpoint. The necessary is buying up on the prime scary videos that individuals just like on your own commonly propose. It seems humorous, but I've observed numerous lists of terrifying movement pics all over the web. When they normally vary in regards to some titles, most of them offer a handful of of the quite identical horror film tips each individual personal time. So if Diffusion gratuite de films et d'émissions de télévision may possibly be not also into frightening video clips, but are on the lookout to take a look at out a quantity of for Halloween or some distinctive celebration, allow me source a pair of that usually get respect from each person. To begin with off Stream Free Movies & TV Shows have "The Exorcist." I will not therapy what listing of terrifying films you gaze previously mentioned, it added than attainable has this 70s horror strike in it. Men and women are mainly terrified of demons joined to the anti-Christ. But an additional a one that ordinarily pops up is "Halloween." This is the epitome of the classic slasher movie. Movement photograph goers just appreciate the idea of a maniac in a mask, who does not converse, but only kills with superior fury. It can be constantly a quite excellent notion to test out as lots of horror movement images as you can in advance of constructing your prime ten checklist of terrifying videos at any time made. You might be shocked at some you take satisfaction in that other slasher supporters despised and ranted badly about on line. Stream Free Movies & TV Shows to locating superb horror films is viewing them by oneself. Though you may well be really probably to go for the redundant classics appreciated by all people, there are undoubtedly a selection of new types you can include to your individualized listing of finest terrifying films.

Weekend Top Ten #564
Top Ten Christmas Films 2022
Merry Christmas!
So I’ve been doing this blog for ten years. You’d be forgiven for not knowing that, as I spectacularly failed to do an anniversary list on the actual tenth birthday of my first blog. But I digress; over a decade, it’s inevitable that tastes will change and lists that I made earlier in my tenure won’t ring quite as true anymore. I’ve addressed this before; I do a “Top Moments of the MCU” list about once every four years, and I’ve revisited a couple of older lists in various ways. I try to avoid doing too many outright “same list but different” – however, today is, in fact, the same list but different.
I last did a Top Ten Christmas Films on the very first Christmas I had this blog, back in 2012. You can check that list out here. Back then, I was very perfunctory, not really writing much and hardly ever attempting analyses of my choices. So I think it’s only fitting to return to the scene of the festive crime, like the Ghost of Christmas Present dragging Scrooge around poor Bob Cratchit’s house, and take another look at the best Christmas films of all time.
I’m tempted to go deep here into “what is a Christmas film?” but I think I’ve kinda covered this before. In general terms, then, I feel very strongly that a film set at Christmas isn’t necessarily a Christmas film. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Jurassic World, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Prometheus, even my beloved Iron Man 3 are not really Christmas films I would say. No, the inherent Christmassiness has to be woven throughout the film. Themes of family, reconciliation, redemption, joy, togetherness… also music, music’s a biggie. They do have to be set at Christmas, too; hence I’ve excluded Christmas-feeling films such as the Paddingtons.
So that’s the arbitrary rules done and dusted. I guess there’s nothing more to do that wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and start unwrapping these bad boys. God bless us, everyone!
Tumblr media
Die Hard (1988): a film so Christmassy it’s got Christmas music woven into the score. A man journeys across the country to reunite with his estranged family, but practical problems beset him; as he overcomes his issues, he realises his own failings and love for his wife just in time to save Christmas with the help of some conveniently-placed gift tape. Plus it’s hilarious, tense, exciting, well-acted, and just overall excellent from beginning to end. Not just the best Christmas film; the best film set at Christmas, and very easily one of the best films ever, full stop.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992): a surprisingly faithful Dickens adaptation, considering 70% of the cast are made of felt. But it’s supremely heartwarming, a delightful, optimistic, uplifting mini masterpiece. As well as the great execution of the material and the awesome Muppet japery, it deserves a special mention for Michael Caine’s note-perfect Scrooge, a naturalistic centre amidst the madness.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): is it a Christmas film or a Halloween film? I say it can be both! Terrific production design and gorgeous animation help sell the story of a disillusioned man yearning for something new before realising what he had was pretty great to begin with. Cute and sweet but also nasty and grimy, it threads this needle perfectly. Great soundtrack, too.
White Christmas (1954): speaking of great soundtracks… whilst fact-lovers will let you know the title song originated in the film Holiday Inn, White Christmas features fewer scenes of blackface, so it gets the nod. The war veteran plot may smack of American patriotism, and the romantic entanglements underserve the women somewhat (basically, Bing can do no wrong in this film), but overall the sentimental storyline meshes with the excellent songs and gorgeous dances.
Scrooged (1988): our second Christmas Carol adaptation, this one giving the old tale a modern twist (well, modern for 35 years ago…). Bill Murray is perfectly cast as the cynical, capitalist TV mogul who’d staple antlers to a mouse’s head to get ratings; his descent into mania followed by his teary-eyed redemption is beautiful to behold. Arguably the best ghosts in any adaptation, too. Niagara Falls!
It’s a Wonderful Life (1946): from Niagara Falls to Bedford Falls. Wonderful Life is a Christmas movie that probably spends most of its time away from Christmas, charting the life of George Bailey (James Stewart, effortlessly loveable). It’s also a film that understands the melancholy aspects of the holiday, as it’s pretty dark, Bailey’s life a series of disappointments until he’s reminded not only of his own worth but how much what he has means to him. It’s a bit like Die Hard, really. But very few films can possibly have an ending as uplifting and tear-inducing as this one.
Gremlins (1984): from Bedford Falls to Kingston Falls. Gremlins succeeds as a Christmas film by really undermining most of what a Christmas film should be about. It’s not really a heartwarming treatise on togetherness; it’s actually a gory, hilarious, nasty little horror film. But the Christmassiness shines through because of the way it’s punctured, from the ironic use of Holiday standards to Phoebe Cates’ unforgettable monologue.
Scrooge (1951): outside of modern twists and talking rats, this is the best version of A Christmas Carol out there, and once again it hinges on its central casting. Alastair Sim gives Scrooge a Shakespearean streak of cruelty, his hangdog face showing glimmers of malevolent joy in his every mean turn of phrase. And then when he sees the light, he’s standing on his head and accidentally flashing his housekeeper. Plus it’s beautifully shot in black and white, almost noirish at times, and gets bonus points for including the creepy Ignorance and Want kids.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947 & 1994): I couldn’t choose! I just couldn’t! Which is better? Neither! They both rock! Showcasing the general niceness of Santa by sticking him in a department store and making him charm the pants of the capitalists and careerists is one thing. turning it into an engaging courtroom drama is genius. The original, I feel, is the sharper, funnier, slightly edgier film; but the remake has arguably (by a nose) the better Santa, Mara Wilson, and the great “In God we trust” ending. So it’s a tie.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989): a dose of genuine silliness to round things out as we enjoy the best Griswald movie. Loads of daft jokes about Christmas traditions and preparations, dreadful family members, and exploding cats, plus a great dose of Mele Kalikimaka. But beneath the blocked-up shitters there’s some genuine heart and warmth to this film, making it more than just an excuse for some OTT Chevy Chase antics. And in the UK, at least, it remains more-or-less family friendly.
I’m not gonna be sniffy and explain why certain films didn’t make the cut. Although there are a couple – Trading Places, for example – that I think I need to re-watch to decide if they’re quite Christmassy enough, or just “set at Christmas”.
Anyway, I think that’s enough for this year. Merry Christmas one and all, peace and goodwill to all men, women, and non-binary people. Best wishes for 2023. Now let’s all open our presents and rewatch The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Terror Time 2022: Days 18 thru 21
Hi everyone! Yeah, it’s been a while and I actually got a lot to cover. Here we go:
WNUF Halloween Special: Another found footage movie! With an added boost of 80s! I was born after the 80s were over, but I was a child of the early 90s and had older siblings who were born in it. So this had a bit of nostalgia for the time I watching their vhs tapes, especially recordings of tv specials.
Plot-wise, there’s not much that happens, especially not in the first half. Thankfully, that wasn’t really the point. It was trying to capture the feel of TV around that era, both through the commercials and bits of satire. Heck, given how this starts and with the little bits of political satire, I half expected Robocop to actually show up...anybody else want a Robocop Halloween special now?
As for the haunted house at the center of it, I liked that the set up was evoking some D&D scaremongering, all too common for the time. And when things get serious, the house wastes no time. While the crazy amount of ad breaks in the second half could be annoying; given how much  actually happens and how long they could draw it out, it served it’s purpose.
As for the ending, like I said, despite the trappings, this is a found footage film. So some common tropes are in play, so go in based on whether you’re cool with that. But I will say, the reveal of the horror, which I won’t reveal, cuts the BS on what the real monsters of that decade was.
Frankenstein (1931): The one that started it all! The most famous adaptation of the first true science fiction story. And one based on a story written by a woman and directed by an openly gay man. I shouldn’t have much to add, (the changes to the story, the logistic inconsistencies, anachronism, etc.) outside of that, so I’ll just gush/reflect on my personal feelings.
Yes, there's more that’s different then faithful. Was it possible to make a 70 minute more faithful version with the resources available at the time? Probably, but that wasn’t the mindset at the time. Not as many people read the book so they were able to take the film as it is.
Fritz is like the worst helper you can ask for when making a monster, and I’m NOT talking about his disability. 1. almost blows their cover at the funeral right at the beginning. 2. destroys the desired brain and switches it out without telling his scientist boss. 3. When the creature is brought to life, he delights in torturing it with whips and torches for some reason? What did you think you signed on for, dude? Even the scene whether the creature flails about and Dr. Waldman concludes that makes it a monster doesn’t make sense; It was reacting how anyone would when a scared, dumb maniac would keep waving a torch in their face! The death by hanging is a nice visual, but I’m still confused on to how the creature knew how to do that.
This is one of the few versions of the story where Frankenstein pretty much tells everyone what he’s done from the start, even if they had to force him to. You’d think that would make things even more different from the novel. But given how they and everyone else are still quick to turn against the creature, perhaps while the theme of who’s the real monster of the story (creator or creation), James Whale went for a way to not let supporting cast off the hook for ignorance. Plus, they’d reasonably be more mad at Henry, but he’s the son of the baron, soon to be married, so that’s their priority over having him face actual consequences for literal crimes against nature, right? Commentary on the upper class, anyone?
As for the creature itself; even now, based on Karloff’s body language, and the makeup on the face, I buy this as a lightly-decayed corpse roughly stitched back together and barely walking again after being reanimated. Yes, he’s not eloquent, but given how all this is set up, in addition to the shorter amount of time this takes place, this creature has way less downtime to think and even relearn to read. He’s chased a lot more in these films then he ever was in the book. No breaks until the blind man in the sequel. And that was only for a night. As for the “abnormal brain” business; on one hand, it was a change made I suppose to make us believe the creature is pure evil. but it backfires and imply that perhaps Frankenstein’s experiment would've worked if he was actually given competent assistance. But I’d argued that it still works in the long run, because it just accelerates his ostracization, given now even the supposed rational Dr. Waldman is quick to dismiss the creature.
Part of the power of the story of Frankenstein, like many horror stories that came after it, was the first time we watched it, our horror was at the monster. We didn’t want to see or encounter anyone like that in real life. But as time goes on, we learn more and develop empathy; we realize THE monster of the story is actually THE victim. This creature’s birth is horrifying, but it didn’t ask for it. It only murders due to self preservation or lack of understanding. All chances it had to be peaceful and nonviolent conveniently go out the window once it’s provoked. And then it is killed in the worst way it can imagined. All this can be a little too familiar, especially for anyone society considers an “outsider”.
Frankenstein and what created him remain the monsters of the story, just as in the book. But in neither case am I referring to the Creature.
Victor Crowley (2017): This is the last of the Hatchet movies I haven’t seen. And I think it’s with this, I realized what I was looking for in movies like “Gravy” and “The Ranger” and didn’t get but I was more successful here. This is me talking about what I prefer, not in which of these is the better movie. With the former, I felt it tried to make me like the villains, but I didn’t. The latter tried to add some psychological character study elements that I don’t think meshed well narratively to the otherwise over-the-top characters and kills. With the Hatchet movies, I was told “This is obnoxious a holes all getting brutally murdered by some monster man with one or two survivors”, and each time, that’s what I got. And this time, I didn’t want anything more. It’s sad that I didn’t reach this appreciation of the “less is more” approach here until now, when I’ve run out of new ones to watch. Oh well.
Superhost (2021): Misery with vloggers. You can certainly feel that this was filmed during the quarantine, but (not to beat a dead horse), they picked a premise that worked with these limitations. The skewering of this culture, for comedy and for drama, really hits. Even the bit at the very end, even if it doesn’t completely make sense, feels like the only way this movie could’ve ended. I’d like a sequel, even if I don’t know where you can go from here. Or maybe I just want to see this actress, Gracie Gillam, show up and go more nuts like this in more movies.
Lady in White (1988): Okay, I went in thinking this was a kids movie about a new kid seeing a ghost haunt his school. I did not expect a full blown CHILD SERIAL KILLER mystery to be the main focus! All of that is relatively serious and tragic, even if I didn’t like where the framed janitor subplot went. Maybe I would’ve if the grieving mother learned it really wasn’t him at the end. Melissa, her aunt, and her mother all deserved better too!
That being said, there’s always a charm about movies set at Halloween at a far earlier time. Nowhere near as bombastic as some places celebrate it now, with haunted houses and parties. But the kids still had fun with what they had, reminding us that most of the modern traditions of the holiday were meant for them. Also, I guess this doubles as a Christmas movie since that’s when they last half took place. But again, not a happy one.
X (2022): This was a surprise bonus; this was at a local screening I got into with my brother-in-law while visiting him and my sister.
This is one of the more unique slasher movies I’ve seen, at least structurally. I’m used to someone getting introduced then killed every five minutes. Here, it actually feels more realistic and tragic. we’re made to spend an hour actually seeing these characters as people, not just with vices but also their desires and limits. Not a single death happens until the third act, and then, they’re dropping like flies because everyone’s quick to realize something’s wrong. The only other movie I remember doing that was Event Horizon, though this was more effective.
I’m not sure I can buy a pair of 80somethings being this effective at killing people like a third of their age with ease, but maybe I need to think about it. Plus, it’s probably expanded on in Pearl, but I haven’t seen it yet. At least the kills were based more on traps, surprise, and a bit of shotgun, to sell it. I normally don’t care for slashers that use guns, but this is set in Texas, so it’d actually be weird otherwise.
The first half is all mood; wide shots and group dialogues, people wandering around and getting the geography and discovering new information. When done well like here, this is actually the most unsettling half of the movie, because you either don’t know what the threat is or what’s going to set it of.
As it is, it’s a effective Texas Chainsaw Massacre homage, though given what I heard about Pearl and can guess what’ll happen with Maxxxine, there’s definitely a more ambitious theme at work. One you’ve probably already worked out. I’ll talk more when I eventually get to Pearl.
This is all I can do for now. This isn’t fully caught up, but I need more time to get my thoughts together on those. Hopefully, I can get them in soon.
Catch y’all later!

Hello everyone, my name is Jordan and I am majoring in Media and Entertainment. Movies and television has always been a big part of my life and I've always been fascinated by the process of creating them. I have also previously considered a career in art. However, unlike movies and TV, I've always had an "on and off" relationship with art. As you can see (middle left image) I've included one of my many incomplete art projects, so it's probably best to just keep art as a hobby of mine rather than a career. I also enjoy cosplaying in makeup (bottom left) in this picture I threw together a Wendy Torrance costume for Halloween. I also really enjoy special effects makeup and have considered that as a career in film for a while. Baking (top left) is not something I'd consider myself to be very good at, but I enjoy doing it as stress relief. It's fun, messy, and obviously the best part is at the end when you get to eat your two hours worth of work in about fifteen minutes. As for my personal style, you might be able to tell by my Tumblr profile that I adore the 60's and 70's aesthetic and fashion. I also love hunting thrift stores and yard sales for vintage items (middle right). Oddly enough, besides clothes teapots seem to be my most reoccurring find. My best find was a 1940's Mahogany vanity that I restored and now proudly sits in my room. Then, there's Buddy (bottom right) and Felix (top right). Buddy is our very loving and playful family dog. Felix, on the other hand, is very "energetic" with lots of personality and will never disappoint when it comes to entertainment.

Book Review: Pattie Boyd “My Life in Pictures” / Jerry Seinfeld “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee”
I got to review not one but two coffee table photo books this week:
Pattie Boyd My Life In Pictures
Tumblr media
book cover
Earlier this year I got to review Olivia Harrison’s book Came the Lightening: Twenty Poems for George, the book of poems she wrote about her husband George Harrison. She was George’s second wife and was with him from 1978 until his death in 2001. Now I am getting to review the new photo book from model / photographer Pattie Boyd, who was married to George from 1966 to 1977. The main thing people talk about with Pattie Boyd is that she left George for his friend Eric Clapton, he wrote “Layla” about her, yada yada yada. In 2007, Boyd wrote her autobiography Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me. But she is a noted photographer because she was in the right place at the right time taking pictures of her friends in the 1960s and 70s. Since the mid 00s she has had photo exhibits all over the world. This new book My Life in Pictures, is a collection of over 300 photos and artwork from her personal archive.

young Boyd and Harrison
There is a forward from her pal Ronnie Wood. Then it gets right into the photos, beginning with Boyd’s early days as a model along with brief captions and commentary. My favorite photos in this book are the ones of her with George Harrison and her memories about that time. She shares some pictures from her wedding to George, their honeymoon, her trip with The Beatles to India and more. I haven’t read Boyd’s 2007 autobiography Wonderful Today, but I’m sure that goes deeper into the details. This book is more about her personal photographs. They are fantastic photos! It’s no wonder she has had photo exhibits of her work. As a Beatle fan, this is a treat to see candid pics of George during down time.

Jerry Seinfeld Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee Book
Tumblr media
book cover
Jerry Seinfeld is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Between his stand-up comedy, his greatest sitcom of all-time Seinfeld, and his animated movie Bee Movie, he has nothing to prove. But yet he has actually made one of the coolest retirement projects in recent memory with his short-form show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. The series, which began on Crackle in 2012 and moved to Netflix in 2018, is just Jerry driving around with another comedian and talking comedy over coffee on their ride to and from. It is literally a show about nothing...but wildly entertaining. It’s like you are eavesdropping on comedians talking insider-baseball. The show is loads of fun and I even included it in my Best TV Shows of the 2010s list. Now Seinfeld has released a coffee table book of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee Book.

Seinfeld and President Obama in the famous 2015 episode (the book covers this episode at the White House)
Seinfeld is no stranger to the book world. His 1993 book SeinLanguage of his routines was a fast fun read. In 2002 he wrote a children’s book Halloween. In 2020 he released his collection of routines organized by decade Is This Anything? (read my review here). This is a combination photo book / excerpts of some of the best moments of the show. Over the last few years when some comedians have passed away, I’ve found myself looking back at their episode of CICGC, i.e. Carl Reiner, Norm Macdonald, Gary Shandling and Jerry Lewis. There is an early chapter with a brief oral history about the show. Then it gets into the excerpts organized by the topics like food, music, family, and more. For a fan like me who has seen every episode, this is a reminder of how the series was a comprehensive collection of some of the greatest comedic minds of all time. For casual fans, this will be a special treat too as the excerpts are smart and funny. Seinfeld is a comedian who truly love comedy and more so understanding the inner working of comedy and this series is an extension of that. Did I mention the photography is outstanding here too?
