Living life on the run wasn’t the life you chose, but it was the life you were given.
You clutched the handle of your sword as you made your way through Ba Sing Se, looking around to see what you could steal from without getting into serious trouble.  Gaze landing on a food cart with its vendor turned around, you swiftly made your way over, swiping a couple papayas.  You walked away, tucking the food in your tunic.
“Hey!  Thief!”
You spun around, eyes wide as the vendor rushed out from behind his cart, drawing swords.
He ran towards you, face set into a snarl.
You broke into a sprint through town, ducking between buildings and weaving through people.  Looking behind you, you could see that the man was still on your tail.  You puffed another breath, only to get the rest of your air forced out of you.
You were falling.
Letting out a groan as you hit the ground, you quickly pulled yourself to your feet, drawing your swords as you ignored the person you just ran into.
The vendor stopped in front of you, his swords held in a defensive stance.  “No more running.”
Your eyes narrowed and you held up your own swords.
“We don’t have to do this the hard way,” the man said sternly.  “Just pay for the food.”
“I can’t.”  You shifted your weight.
“Then give it back.”
“I can’t do that either.”
The man sighed and lunged forward, slicing his sword down at you.
You quickly brought your swords up, blocking the blow.
Everyone around you took more steps back, but kept their attention on the fight.
“I need to eat!”  You grunted, shoving the man backwards with your blades.  “Leave me alone!”
The vendor regained his footing and looked over at you.  His eyes flickered between yours, his forehead wrinkling.  After a few moments he sighed, relaxing his stance and lowering his blades.  “Very well.”  He turned and walked away.
Most of the crowd stood around for a minute before returning to their business.
You heaved a few breaths before sheathing your swords.  Turning around, you let out a gasp as you came face to face with a short, elderly man.
He beamed up at you.
Your eyebrows furrowed.
“Would you like some tea?”
You blinked in surprise at the man.  “I beg your pardon?”
He placed his hand on your back, leading you down the street.  “I have been looking for someone to try a new brew I have been working on.”
“Wait, why would I-”
“I have never seen you before,” the man said as he led you around a corner.  “I need someone who has not had my tea before for the most accurate result.”  He smiled over at you before stopping and gesturing at a small wooden building.
You watched him in confusion for a few moments before sighing, walking inside.
“Sit down,” the man told you.  “I’ll go prepare your cup.”
Your eyebrows furrowed as you slowly sat down at one of the tables.  “Thank you,” you said quietly, though it sounded like more of a question.
The man walked away, venturing behind the counter at the front of the tea shop.
You looked around, observing the building as you picked at your nails.
This whole situation was weird.
Especially because you were currently the only customer in the room.
The hair on the back of your neck stood up.
This is a trap, this is a trap, this is a trap-
Your gaze drifted to the door.
It wasn’t safe here.
The man’s story didn’t make any sense.
You moved your legs, about to stand, when someone cleared their throat.
Turning, your eyes landed on a boy, about your age, with short dark hair, a burn over his left eye and an expression on his face that screamed ‘discomfort’ and ‘annoyance’.
You eyed him warily before raising an eyebrow.  “Yes?”
He cleared his throat again, gesturing to your waist.  “I see you have broadswords…” his gaze shot to the wall, remaining there for a few moments before he looked back at you.
You furrowed your eyebrows.  “...Yes…?”
He was silent for a few moments.  “Are you any good?”
Your eyes narrowed in suspicion.  “Good enough.”
A few beats of silence passed and the boy huffed, his shoulders tensing with the action.  “I’m a swordsman, too.”  He looked away, his face twisting in displeasure.  “I could teach you…if you want.”
You stared at him.
That was unexpected.
You crossed your arms, nodding your head at him.  “What’s in it for you?”
“Here you are.”
You and the boy turned to the new voice, seeing the man that brought you in.
He placed a cup and a bowl on the table in front of you.
You looked at the man for a few moments before glancing at the objects.  You pointed to the bowl.  “What’s this?”
“I made you soup, since it is nearly time for supper,” the man said.
You looked between the two males before standing, placing your left hand on the table, your right on your hip.  “Alright, what is going on here?  Sword fighting lessons, free dinner and tea, no other customers, phony stories- what are you two doing?  Are you con men or something?”
They looked at each other.
“I saw you in the street earlier,” the man said, turning to you.  “You needed assistance to eat and protect yourself.”
You crossed your arms, looking away.
“My nephew can teach you how to use your swords.  I can speak to the manager about giving you a job.”
Your gaze lifted to look at the man.  “Why?  Why would you help me?”
The man smiled.  “Ba Sing Se is about new beginnings.  Everyone deserves a second chance.”
You studied the man for a moment.
He seemed to be genuine.
“Alright.”  You sighed, sitting back down and picking up the spoon.  “What have I got to lose?”
~~~~~~~~~~
“Keep your arms tighter to your body!  You’ll never protect yourself if you’re flapping them around like that!”
You rolled your eyes.  “I’m trying, Lee!”  Lowering your swords to your sides, you glared at the boy.  “Some teacher you are.”  You huffed, leaning against the wall.  “Haven’t you ever heard of ‘positive reinforcement’?”
“No,” he said sternly.
You paused before looking to the side, a frown on your face.
“Do it again.”
Looking back at the boy, you sighed as you pushed off the wall, getting down into your defensive stance.  Taking a deep breath, you spun your blades.  Shifting your weight, you fumbled a little as you brought one of the swords over your chest, moving the other to go around your head.  Your arms got tangled and you frowned.  “I’m never going to get this,” you said, looking up at the swords as you tried to figure out how to get your arms free from each other without the blades getting in the way.  “What am I doing wrong?”
“You’re sloppy.”  Lee crossed his arms, a scowl on his face.
You rolled your eyes as you finally managed to twist yourself free.  “Sorry.  I’m kind of new to this whole ‘sword’ thing.”
Several beats of silence passed.
You cleared your throat.  “Maybe you can show me the form again?”
Lee sighed but nodded, pulling out his own duel swords.  He lowered his stance, spinning the blades.  Shifting his weight to face his left, he crossed one sword over his chest, moving it around his head before the other sword followed its path, spinning as he did so.  He stopped, holding one sword high, the other low.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you tried to burn the movements into your memory.
Lee turned to face you, putting his blades away.
You looked up at him.  “How long have you been using swords?”
“A while,” he said shortly and quickly, glancing away.
Your eyes drifted to the burn on the side of his face, pursing your lips.
“Time for supper!”
You and Lee turned to the sound of the voice.
His uncle leaned out of the door, smiling at you both.
You nodded, putting your blades away as you followed Lee inside.
“How is the practice going?”
Lee walked by him without saying a word.
You frowned, closing the door behind you as you looked over at Mooshee.  “It could be going better.”
The old man hummed.  “My nephew is not very patient, I’m afraid.”
Your gaze drifted to the door Lee had disappeared behind.  “So I’ve noticed.”
A silence fell between you.
“Come for supper,” Mooshee said, gesturing for you to follow him.  He walked towards the back, you falling into step behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Again!”
You groaned.  “How much longer do we need to keep doing this?”  Your shoulders sagged as you turned to Lee.  “It’s past dark and my arms are killing me.”
“Until you get it right,” Lee snapped, his arms crossed.  “You wanted me to teach you, didn’t you?”
You scoffed, moving back into your beginning stance.  “Actually, your uncle did.”
Lee’s glare narrowed.
You sighed, beginning to spin your blades.  Shifting your weight, you brought one sword across your chest, moving it around your head.  You brought your other arm in a slashing move across yourself as you stopped.  Waiting a few beats, you turned to face your teacher.
“Your left arm has to bring that sword around your head, too.”
You huffed, throwing your head back and staring at the night sky.  “This is impoSSIble.”
“No it isn’t.  You just need to keep working.”
You brought your head down, raising an eyebrow at Lee.  You were uncertain if that was meant to be encouraging or a dig at your lack of abilities with a blade.  You gestured at him with your sword.  “How long did you practice this move?”
Lee shrugged.  “It’s not always about the practice.”
Your eyes dropped to his jaw as he clenched it.  You lifted your gaze back to his eyes, your eyebrows bowing in concern and confusion.
“A lot of swordplay is based on experience and instinct.  You can practice as much as you want, but in the end, your opponent may surprise you.  There’s no amount of running through moves that can prepare you for real swordplay.”  Lee’s golden eyes burned into yours.  “In real fighting, you have to respond in split-second moments.  You need to think, but not too much or it can cost you too much time.”
You stared up at Lee.  “That sounds intense,” you finally said, not knowing what else to say.
Lee’s posture shifted.  “It’s the life that refugees have to live.”
You hummed, gaze dropping to the ground.  Clearing your throat, you looked back up at him.  “Where are you refugees from?”
Lee turned away from you.  He was silent for several moments.  “The Fire Nation.”
You nodded, though his back was to you.  “Who isn’t?”
He tensed further.
“Well,” you sighed, lowering yourself to the ground.  You leaned your back against the tea shop.  “I would say that you’re safe in Ba Sing Se, but there are problems here, too.”  You rested your elbows on your knees.  “The segregation between the different wealth classes, for one.  And this place is extremely suspicious at times.”  You crossed your arms, lowering your legs so they laid flat against the ground.  “The only thing I can say for this place is that it’s got thick walls.  We’re safe from the Fire Nation in here.”  You paused, looking up at Lee.
He looked incredibly stiff.
You frowned.  “You’re safe from the Fire Nation…” you tried.
He turned slightly towards you, but you still couldn’t see his face.
Several beats of silence passed.
“That’s enough training for tonight,” he finally said.  Turning around, keeping his back to you, he went back inside the tea shop.
You blinked at the now-shut door.  Frowning, you pushed yourself off the grass.
The poor man clearly had some things he was working through.
~~~~~~~~~~
“I need one ginger tea!”
“Two jasmine over here!”
“I cannot brew any faster,” Mooshee exclaimed with a laugh.
You walked towards the counter, grinning as you placed your hands on it.  “Your customers are waiting, Mooshee.”
The pot finally boiled and he handed it to you.
You returned to one of the customers, beginning to pour water into his cup.
“This is the best tea in the city,” he remarked, a smile on his face.
You smiled back.  “It certainly is.”  You stood back to your full height and moved around the tables, pouring more water into people’s cups.  When you were out of water, you walked back to Mooshee and handed him the pot.  “We’re out of hot water.”
“I’ll boil some more,” he said, turning around to take care of it.
The door slid open loudly and you turned, seeing a man in the doorway.
“I’m tired of waiting!”  He stepped into the shop, his shoulders hunched slightly.  His eyebrows were bent low and his finger shot out, pointing to the side of you.  “These two men are firebenders!”
You glanced to your left.
Mooshee and Lee looked at each other.
The sound of metal drew your attention forward, seeing the man holding two long metal weapons, the ends formed into hooks.
“Are you crazy,” you asked, taking a step towards your friends.  You kept your gaze on the man.
“I know they’re firebenders!  I saw the old man heating his tea!”
“He works in a tea shop,” a guard said.
The man lifted his weapons.  “He’s a firebender, I’m telling you!”
“Drop your swords, boy.”  The guard stood from his table, his companion joining him.  “Nice and easy.”
The man held his weapons in a defensive stand.  He turned to Mooshee and Lee.  “You’ll have to defend yourself.  Then everyone will know.”  He began to walk forward.  “Go ahead.  Show them what you can do.”
You took another step, standing in front of your friends completely.  Your eyes narrowed at the man.  “Leave here.  Now.”
He pointed his weapon at them.  “Not until I prove these men are firebenders.”
You drew your swords.  “Alright.  ‘Hard way’, it is.”
“Y/n, no!”
You ignored Mooshee’s plea, zoning your focus in on the man before you.
He grunted as he charged, swinging his weapon.
Your heart rate skyrocketed.  Instinctively, you brought your blade up, blocking the blow.
He slashed at you with his other weapon.
You deflected that blow, bringing up your leg and kicking him in the stomach.
He backed up a few steps, grunting.  His head shot up, a glare on his face.
You lowered your stance, readjusting the grip on your swords.
He brought his leg to the side, dragging a table towards him.  He kicked it towards you.
You jumped over it, hoping that Mooshee and Lee got out of the way fast enough.  You heard a loud ‘crack’.  As you landed, you risked a glance over your shoulder, seeing they were both unharmed.
The table, however, was broken in two.
Your eyes widened in amazement and confusion before returning your focus forward.  A gasp unintentionally left your lips as you saw metal swinging towards you.  You brought your sword up, trying to press against it.
He was stronger than you.
You grunted as you brought your other hand up, still clutching your other sword, and used your fist to press against the flat side of your blade to add more force.
The sound of grinding metal filled the air.
The hook at the end of the man’s sword wrapped around your blade.
A sharp tug pulled the sword from your hands.
You gasped as you watched it fly out the window.  Your gaze drifted back to the man, eyes narrowed.  You swung your leg out, hooking it around his and pulling.
His leg came out from underneath him.  He fell to the floor.
You jumped over him, rushing outside.  You bent down, picking up your sword.  As you turned to face the shop again, a blade was held against your throat.  Your eyes widened as you looked up at the man.
He still had that piece of wheat between his teeth.  He pulled you against him, turning around to face the tea shop.
Everyone had rushed out to watch.
“Please stop!”  Mooshee grasped the doorway.  “You’re confused, son!”
The man’s grip on you tightened, his blade coming closer to your neck.  He looked between Mooshee and Lee.  “You’re going to have to firebend if you want to save her.”
The two exchanged glances.
You brought your right sword up, sliding it between you and his blade.  You used it as leverage to push his weapon away from your throat.  Spinning around to face him, you lowered your stance and began to spin your blades.
The man lunged at you.
You turned, blocking it as you brought your sword over your chest.
The man swung his blade at your head.
You turned, bringing your sword around your head.
His weapon clashed against it.
Your other arm followed your first to block another blow.
The man grunted in frustration as you turned to face him again.
He lunged at you.
You spun to the side, kicking one of his blades out of his hands.
It hit the ground with a ‘clatter’.
You raised one of your swords, pointing it at the man.  “Leave my friends alone.”
“Drop your weapons!”
Everyone turned, seeing two Dai Li agents approaching the scene.
Jet turned, pointing at Mooshee and Lee.  “Arrest them!  They’re firebenders!”
“This poor boy is confused!”  Mooshee stepped out of the shop.  “We’re just simple refugees.”
The tea shop owner pointed.  “This young man wrecked my tea shop and assaulted my employees!”
“It’s true, sir,” the guard said.  “We saw the whole thing.  This crazy kid attacked the finest tea maker in the city.”
“Ohh, that’s very sweet,” Mooshee said sheepishly, bowing his head.
The Dai Li stepped towards the man.  “Come with us, son.”
The man slashed at the one on his right.
The Dai Li agent brought his hand up, the blade hitting the rock glove he wore.  He and his companion quickly disarmed the man, encasing his hands in earth.  They drug him away.
“You don’t understand; they’re Fire Nation!  You have to believe me!”
The Dai Li threw him in the back of a barred wagon before driving away.
A few moments of silence passed before the crowd dispersed.
You sighed, your shoulders slumping.  Sliding your swords back into their sheaths, you turned to the shop.
Mooshee and your boss were ushering everyone back inside.
Lee was just standing there, regarding you curiously.
You raised an eyebrow.  “What?”
“You did it.”
You glanced to the side before looking back at him.  “Did what?”
“The move I’ve been trying to teach you.  You did it.”
“I did?”  You looked back to where the man had been standing before being dragged away.  “But I didn’t-”
“You didn’t think about it,” Lee said.
Your gaze drifted back to Lee.
“You didn’t need to.”  His expression tightened for a brief moment.  “It’s instinct.”
You chuckled lightly, before smiling over at him.  “Thanks, Lee.  And thank you for being willing to train me.”
A few beats of silence passed.
Lee nodded before turning around and heading back inside the tea shop.
You shook your head, a smile on your face before following him in.
summary: trying to get zuko out of bed leads to unexpected confessions.
A/N: this is a very short drabble that's been sitting in my drafts for way too long, so enjoy! English is not my first language, so I apologize for any grammar/ spelling mistakes. feedback is appreciated.
“Honey, let go, we have a meeting with your advisors in 30 minutes.”
In answer, Zuko grumbled, tightening his arms around your waist and drawing you closer to his bare chest.
“Zuko,” you exclaimed, giggling, “we have to be there! You’re the fire lord, remember?”
“Exactly. I'm the fire lord, therefore I get to decide whether or not I attend I meeting,” he replied smugly, “and right now I’m deciding that I want to stay in bed with my beautiful wife.”
“Flattery isn't going to work, Zu. Don’t even try. Besides, your advisors have finally agreed to allow me to attend this one. I can't be late. That would hardly provide for a favourable first impression."
You had not been looking at Zuko's face when you said that, but you felt him stiffen at your words. All sense of playfulness eviscerates from the air.
"What," Zuko enunciates.
You shift your gaze back to his face, perplexed at his tone. "What?"
"What do you mean, 'my advisors are finally letting you attend this one'?"
"Oh," you replied sheepishly, "just forget I said that."
Zuko gave you a pointed look and sat up straight, resting on the headboard of the massive bed. You followed suit, suddenly taking an obstinate interest in his warm hands, fiddling with his fingers. He took one of his hands from yours and raised your chin with his index finger, urging you to make eye contact with him.
"You want to inform me," Zuko spoke softly, "or should I ask the advisors myself?"
"It's nothing," you started, "it's only that… every time I ask if I can attend the meetings, your advisors refuse. They tell me that these are not affairs that concern me."
Zuko always thought you didn't join meetings simply because you weren't interested in these affairs. His visage distorted into one of rage, and you felt compelled to calm him down, fearful of what he would do to his advisors.
"But it's truly not a problem! It makes no difference to me, honey. As a result, it should not concern you." You ran your hand along the nape of his neck, tenderly running your fingers along the hairs resting there.
"Why didn't you tell me? I could've handled it," Zuko inquired, his voice concerned.
"What would it look like if I came to you with all of my problems? I need to show your advisors that I'm capable of being the fire lady you deserve; that the fire nation deserves," You muttered solemnly. Your head bowed low as if you were ashamed to admit this.
Zuko's heart ached at your confession. How long had you been feeling like this? It's been a year since Zuko took you as his betrothed, and it angered him to just find out now.
"Sweetheart," Zuko started, taking your hand and placing a kiss on your knuckles, "you don't need to prove anything to anyone. You are already the fire lady that I deserve and that the fire nation needs. Your presence and input in these meetings are valuable to me, and I want you there by my side. I should have made that clear to my advisors from the start."
You looked up, tears forming in your eyes, "Really?"
"Of course," Zuko replied, wiping away a tear with his thumb, "I'll speak to my advisors and make sure that they understand your importance in these meetings."
You leaned in, pressing your lips to his, revelling in the softness of his lips. Zuko deepened the kiss, his arms wrapping around you tightly. You felt relieved that you no longer had to hide your frustration and disappointment about being excluded from important meetings.
"Thank you, Zuko," you whispered, "you always know how to make everything better."
Zuko chuckled, holding you close, "That's what I'm here for, my love."
a/n: i never ended up posting zuko’s nsfw alphabet because for some reason I gave up on it, but imma post it here since i felt bad !
wc: 2.4k+
Tumblr media
𝘼 = 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 (𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙭)
Zuko is actually kinda bad at feelings, but he knows that you need aftercare because he wants to make you feel comfortable and loved. So he literally goes over the top for your aftercare like taking you to go have a bath, or offering you a nice massage with some of your favorite snacks or fruits. It doesn’t matter how tired he is, you’re his first priority everyday so he tries his damned best to show you that he does love you so much.
𝘽 = 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 (𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧’𝙨)
He loves your eyes, because of eye contact. The way you look at him while he’s deep inside of you or whenever you’re watching him eat you out with low eyes. The sight of your awe-stricken face being visible from between your breasts is a sight for sore eyes to him. It honestly makes his head swim at how you gaze at him.
His favorite body part of his own are his hands. Loves the way they look holding onto your hips while he has you bent over and plowing it from the back. Or when he uses one of them to grab your neck, preparing to spit in your mouth. It's like his pride just fluctuates at the sight of his strong hands being compared to your smaller body.
𝘾 = 𝘾𝙪𝙢 (𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙪𝙢, 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮)
This man is something. He likes it messy, sloppy, across your face, across his face. Stained into the bed, dripping on the floor, on his dick, in your pussy. He could finish on your back, your mouth, your face, your breasts, or your insides. He doesn’t care. He loves to snowball, jesus. White dragon is a new concept brought up the first time you gave him head, that shit had him going half crazy. (look it up on urban dictionary)
𝘿 = 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 (𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮, 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙨)
In this case, he has a few…
He adores it whenever you cry, not out of anger or sadness, but rather when you are at the literal precipice of pleasure, when you reach an overbearing euphoria and you check out into that one particular high that leaves you physically unable to do anymore and you just start to cry. He says your eyes look a thousand times prettier when they’re glittering with tears, it makes you look cute and utterly helpless.
Zuko likes when your toenails are painted, no particular foot fetish but he can’t help but to lean up and kiss your toes gently while hes got you bent up and whoring yourself out in mating press.
Oh yeah and the idea of sharing and passing you around with Sokka is oddly appealing…
These may be quite vanilla but he’s not big on being a pervert, he does in fact kinkshame.
𝙀 = 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮? 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜?)
Eh, yes but not a whole lot. He’s slept around only a few people total in his entire lifetime, both men and women (because I do believe he is bisexual af), and doesn’t plan on ever keeping any concubines. Barely grew up with having the talk anyway since Iroh was a little hesitant about educating him on the explicit stuff, he talked to him about it in a more spiritual and philosophical way to keep the awkwardness to a minimum. Poor child still didn’t understand until he was like 20.
The reason he does know the things that he does is thanks to Sokka and just being around older, unfiltered men when he was on a boat looking for Aang. He is by no means a sex god, but he will make you cum real good. Trust, he is definitely still learning and getting better as you two progress on with your sex life.
𝙁 = 𝙁𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜)
Some of his favorites!
Giraffe- It’s something about fucking your throat like it’s a pussy, having his sex and your saliva slap and mess all over your face explicitly that just does something to his knack for dominance.
Doggystyle- Mr. backshots HIMSELF. One thing about him is that he’s gonna hit it from the back.
Full Nelson- Reserved for nights where he feels EXTRA and more pussy whipped than usual.
Mating Press- Go to breeding position when you two are ready to make a baby.
Missionary- Could be for sweet and intimate sex, or otherwise. There are lots of alterations for this position that he knows for any mood that night.
Reverse Cowgirl- If you get on your feet and hold on to his ankles and ride him like that, he’ll marry you. Bonus points if you don’t need to hold onto his ankles.
𝙂 = 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙛𝙮 (𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩? 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨? 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
Depends, Zuko won’t crack a smile if you’ve pissed him off, maybe he’d flirt through a smile if you two were just doing it to do it.
𝙃 = 𝙃𝙖𝙞𝙧 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮? 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙨? 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
Babes he’s a grown man so he’s never going to be completely hairless, but it’s not like he would ever let it grow out and get all wild. He’s trimmed cleanly, and if you want it all off, he’ll cut it off. But by default preference, he’s just going to keep it neat and trimmed at all times. Hell maybe he’ll let a few faint hairs climb up into a happy trail on his lower stomach.
𝙄 = 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙮 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩? 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩)
You know, he doesn’t really get too romantic. He can be super sweet and intimate and keep everything relaxed, but over the top romantic and him doesn’t go well together. Yes, he will spoil you and buy you gifts. But is he going to hold a rose in his mouth, charm you into bed and confess how you’re his everlasting love. Most likely not.
But, he can be very intimate and really connect with you emotionally. Sex is very deep to him now that he matured and he makes sure that every time you two want something sweet, unhurried, real, that it is done just as you please.
𝙅 = 𝙅𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙤𝙛𝙛 (𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣)
He doesn’t do it often, rarely ever. He is very well used to repressing his desires because of his line of work, so he won’t just give in to masturbation like some desperate, horny teenager.
You have to be on his mind like the plague in the middle of the night to have him just do it for once.
𝙆 = 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙠 (𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙨)
Whew child, to name a few he like D/S dynamics, lowkey into masochism, also lowkey into sadism, spanking, breath play, BREEDING, Degradation/Praise, title kinks, body worship, overstim, orgasm denial, exhibitionism/vouyerism, dirty talk, and the list goes ON…
𝙇 = 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤)
Zuko doesn’t care where you two fuck as long as it won’t ruin his reputation completely. But, his favorite has to be in the comfort of your bedroom. Simplistic yes, but I’m sure the sheets on the bed said otherwise.
𝙈 = 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙤𝙣, 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜)
When you run your hands through his hair. His hair is also another one of his attributes he takes pride in, he takes such good care of it and makes sure it’s always very silky and has a certain pretty sheen to it. He really has won the genetic lottery, but he adores his hair so much more when you compliment it or braid it up, etc. You could gently tug on it when he’s kissing your neck, pull it back when he’s giving you head, or pull it until some strands come out when he’s in your guts unashamedly.
Even if you pull it when he’s aggravating you to death, he loves it.
𝙉 = 𝙉𝙤 (𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙙𝙤, 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙨)
No, you will not lick or suck his scar in a sexual context. No, he will not not fuck you while you’re pregnant. No, there won’t be any incorporation of violence against either one of you. No, you two will not act like animals. There’s lots of no’s with Zuko honestly, like I said, he’s an avid kinkshamer.
𝙊 = 𝙊𝙧𝙖𝙡 (𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡, 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
He’s a MUNCH. He’ll eat it from the back. From the side. The other side. From below, and from above. It’s like he has some unspoken oral fixation, sometimes he’ll ask you randomly if he can eat you out for his OWN enjoyment. You’re upset? He’ll eat you out and talk you through the situation. Happy? He’ll eat you out in celebration. And you get the idea. He’s amazing at it to, he’ll fuck you with his tongue and his fingers at the same time. Let you squirt and cum on his face and clean up literally everything that possibly comes out of you.
The pillow trick was a game changer when he found out about it.
Now, Zuko doesn’t ask for head. Like ever. But he’d be a mad man not to accept when you do feel up for it. He frankly doesn’t care if you’re particularly good or bad at giving it, as long as you ain’t giving him straight fucking teeth. That’s when he’s just gonna pull you off of him. One thing he loves that you do is when you squeeze the base of his shaft just before he cums. He’ll marry you.
𝙋 = 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙚 (𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝? 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡? 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
His default is rough babes, it’s that pent up anger and trauma. He needs to blow that back out before he breaks down. Don’t ever feel afraid to ask for otherwise because he’s all about making you feel comfortable.
But to go in detail, he starts out slow because the first push inside is the best part of the entire process. And what I mean by slow is that he’ll go very deep and hard, but at a really leisure pace. Once you adjust, he fucks like some crazed animal.
𝙌 = 𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙚 (𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣, 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
A good quickie never hurt anyone, he absolutely loves them. No matter what scenario, whether it’s pulling you aside from the kids for a few minutes, or trying to escape a banquet to keep from boredom, he will enjoy it every single time.
The kids could be enjoying themselves while playing joyfully with their toys and laughing at their mindless games in the garden, while Zuko pulls you to the side to quickly dick you down. You two are struggling to be quiet to keep from concerning the children and the stretch out the time that y’all have a good, dirty fuck before returning to them.
Maybe even when everyone is conversing and enjoying the food at an important event, and being the needy couple you and him were, you’re on your knees spit-jacking him until he paints your face with his cum messily.
𝙍 = 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙠 (𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩? 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠𝙨? 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
The man is experimental, to an extent. Like he’s down to try most things once if it doesn’t sound hellishly crazy. If it sounds a little too risky/dangerous then he’s just going to say no. A little risk of getting caught or something along those seems interesting to try.
𝙎 = 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙜𝙤 𝙛𝙤𝙧? 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩?)
Zuko can for as many rounds as you desire, and he can hold himself from cumming professionally. You can’t out-fuck him, there’s no use and he reminds you that you can’t. You only get really overstimulated and have to tap out from the pain. He can go even longer if you two are having slow, progressive sex too, good lord.
𝙏 = 𝙏𝙤𝙮𝙨 (𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙩𝙤𝙮𝙨? 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢? 𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨?)
Him personally, he doesn’t own any and thinks you shouldn’t either since it makes it seem like he can’t please you enough. Of course, if you asked him to use one of your toys on you, maybe he’d comply. But that’s only if you like that he is controlling it, not just for the sake of using a toy with his permission.
𝙐 = 𝙐𝙣𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙧 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚)
Oh he’s an asshole, he will make you beg relentlessly for the smallest of things. Zuko will genuinely pull out right before you cum and leave you there to DIE. He makes you whine and cry for him to even push inside at last, or he’ll playfully mock the sounds you make to make you listen to how pitiful you sound at the moment. Like he will tease you to no ends.
𝙑 = 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙚 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚, 𝙚𝙩𝙘.)
He’s not very loud, only you’re able to hear all of the sounds he makes during a round. He groans, he pants, he moans under his breath, he curses, he babbles on about how good you take him, etc but only for your ears to hear. They do something to you since they’re so gravely and so deep they rumble in your bones.
𝙒 = 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙙 (𝙖 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧)
He has hurt himself during sex quite a few times. Zuko had to learn that he can’t pull every move in the book the hard way…
I also feel like his pull-out game is really good.
𝙓 = 𝙓-𝙧𝙖𝙮 (𝙡𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨)
A good 8.5 inches, he’s a shower, it’s thick, the tip is usually a deep red when fully erect, has a couple of fat veins going down the sides and underneath. It’s a slightly different color, and has translucent skin. It curves slightly upwards and he has weirdly pretty balls. They are full and round and hang downward slightly and are pretty firm.
So it kinda hurts when they slap your face.
𝙔 = 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙭 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚?)
He has a very high sex drive, you bad as hell so why wouldn’t he be horny when you always look sexy af.
𝙕 = 𝙕𝙯𝙯 (𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨)
Fuck, if he’s had a long day after being Firelord and you’re all properly care for, consider him snoring. That’s IF he has had a really long day. If it was smooth and easygoing, he loves to pillow talk until you two do fall asleep. Lazy flirting and talking about something you particularly liked during the time, plans for tomorrow, and an ‘I love you’ competition.
JET’S best way, and most favorite way, to show you off is to have you ride on the back of his motorcycle for everyone to gawk at you. Hot piece of ass perched up on the back of the seat, back arched forward to cling to his middle firmly, and skirt so damn short, when it flies up everyone behind you two could surely see your panties.
He likes it that way, it’s an excuse to not only shoot birds at people and curse at them for being a weirdo to you, but to be able to get to your cunt easier.
Stopped somewhere in an empty parking lot adjacent to a nearby local park, he had you laid down on the seat and head resting against the steering handles, legs pulled wide apart and panties hanging off from one ankle in the air. JET worked his tongue through your lips, gummy texture of your clit smoothing out on his tongue. He rolled his head in it, nose growing sticky from your slick that caught itself digging through your pussy.
He especially feeds off of how you moan all cutely when he flicks over a particularly sensitive area of the bud. How you hitch and whine at the mixing sensations of his tongue running through your entrance and venturing over your walls. Tip just barely massaging the area that’ll have you gasping and grabbing his nest for hair.
Taking his thumbs to spread you apart further to mutual benefit, his eyes began to roll to the back of his head and eyebrows scrunched together to truly relish in the taste and scent of your need. Groaning, all smashed up against your sex, caused you to feel this heady euphoria you only had when you two smoked.
This was a nightly thing where you two would fuck on his motorcycle in public, patrol officers lurked around the perimeter of the park, making it a whole lot more interesting. One time almost getting caught red handed with his dick balls deep in your throat, down on your knees to hide behind the side of the motorcycle you two were on.
Or another time when he had you bend over to lean on the vehicle to slide into you from behind. Holding your hips and skin clapping down loudly in contact, alerting the curious minds of the officers. JET loved to fuck with them, only because he hated police officers with a passion.
Ok so I have an idea for atla hcs or drabble. How about Azula’s kidnapped sibling ends up meeting zuko (maybe runs away and meets zuko that way? idk) and then azula finds them but they like zuko better and don’t want to leave him?
they/them reader. y!Azula, soft!y!Zuko
also if I added some tags that don't fit this fic please tell me so that I can remove them :)
tw: yandere themes and swearing, drabble turned reactions
FREE LIKE A BUTTERFLY
Tumblr media
Reader adores butterflies, they always have, they can fly freeily, something Reader wishes to be like that. 'I miss Zuko.' Reader thought bitterly, Zuko at least allowed them to make their own choices.
Reader is a non-bender, but Ty-lee taught them chi-blocking, so they are strong as fuck.
When Reader ran away, Azula went on a rampage, their father not caring a little bit. Ozai is a little shit anyways :).
In Reader's journey they met the Gaang and they joined straight away, when Zuko joined Gaang, the siblings became close again :D
Unfortunaly, Azula found them accidentally. Zuko and Reader were having a sibling day, Zuko is trying to catch up. "Come here, now!" Azula shouted at Reader right away. "Azula, watch your tone." Zuko said.
"I don't give a shit, ZuZu. Our little sibling will listen to their big sister~ now won't they?"
"No, I want to stay with Zuko!"
Now to the reaction
Azula: Starts fighting
Zuko: Starts defending himself and Reader.
Reader: Knocks out Azula with chi-blocking :D
pairing: mingyu x f!reader warnings: a:tla au. mingyu as a firebender, reader as a waterbender, talk of an arranged marriage. i wrote parts of this back in... 2018? or earlier? i don't know. i just wanted to post it. no plot, lots and lots of fluff, though it's suggestive at the end. notes: two fics from me in a span of two weeks? who is she?!
-
at the end
-
dusk had begun to settle over the fire nation.
the view from their window was spectacular—the capitol glowed orange, and though she couldn’t see the people milling about as the palace was too far from the streets, she could see street lanterns light up one by one, thanks to sharp, precise strikes of fire by the resident benders.
the edges of the sea that touched the land—yours now, you reminded herself—was painted purple, soft curves of white cresting back and forth over the shore in a soothing sight. a flock of birds swelled over a patch of trees in the distance and flew over the island, and out of your line of vision.
the fire nation was magnificent. its people were alive and passionate, its land rich and fruitful. its cities were warm and inviting and interesting, filled with good food and celebrations yet teeming with secrets. it used to be such a scary place to you, because compared to the vast white tundra you'd called home for all your life, a foreign land that looked like a prison from far away, with its black houses and dark palace.
at the time, it felt like you was giving your life away.
someone called your name, and you turned to smile at your husband. he was still wearing the fire lord's pin on his head, but he'd already taken off the robes he often wore to meetings. "hello."
mingyu shut the door behind him and rubbed his temple as he walked into your bedroom. “hi. um, i'm sorry about earlier. i didn't mean to snap.”
you shook your head. "it's fine. i shouldn’t have been a nuisance to you in the middle of a meeting.”
pulling his hand away from his face, he sent you a tiny scowl. “you’re not a nuisance. you’re my wife.”
you cocked your head, walking over to him. "still. you're the fire lord. there are more important things for you to deal with."
his face soured. "i know you're trying to tease because i got short with you earlier, but please don't remind me. i just got over that meeting."
you suppressed your laugh. while mingyu's heart was in the right place, he often found himself at the mercy of the bureaucracy that ran the fire nation. he'd tried to keep his frustrations from you, especially that as the fire lady you'd had inadvertently signed up for the obligation to serve the public in some capacity, but you would always pry. at one point, you'd gotten into a rather heated argument about how he didn't seem to care about your opinions, which had led to a very upset mingyu because that wasn't the case at all, he just hadn't wanted you to see how hard of a time he was having.
you'd understood, really. running a nation was hard. but he didn't have to do it alone.
"you can always call me to come in, you know," you teased, laying your hands on his shoulders. "you know i love terrorizing old geezers."
mingyu's chuckle was deep and pleasant. "i'll remember that next time." he leans forward to kiss your forehead. "but seriously, you should join more meetings."
you hummed when he trailed his lips lower to place them on your mouth. you accepted his kiss before pulling away and walking towards the bed.
when you turned, you caught his open-faced admiration: the way he looked from your bare feet up to your exposed shoulder, peeking from beneath your robe. he didn't even try to hide that he was checking you out.
mingyu had always been such a gentleman to you since the day you'd met him that it still catches you off guard whenever he looks at you that way. it was such a guy thing for him to be caught doing, but you weren't going to lie and say that you didn’t like it.
as soon as mingyu put his hair ornament down on the dresser he walked over and stands in front of you. his hand came up to pull up your robe. "cover this up," he pouted. "people might see and i might get jealous."
you laugh. "sorry, fire lord."
he takes off his undergarments and you unabashedly admired his body; the way your husband kept himself up was very… easy on the eyes. the hard planes of his chest and abdomen finally revealed themselves, and you reached out to trail your fingers from his navel up to gently press against his chest.
mingyu hummed and changed the subject. “what were you thinking about by the window, my waterbender?”
"the fire nation," you answered truthfully. "how it's so different from the south pole but just as beautiful."
"that's all?"
you climbed your hand up from his chest to his shoulder. "how scared i was when i had to move here after marrying you. it felt like i was giving away my soul." you climbed your hand higher, until it rested on his jaw. "in a way, i was."
"i'm sorry," mingyu murmured.
you shook your head. "don't be. i—" you caress the curve of his cheek with your thumb. "i think it's the best thing that's ever happened to me." you smiled. "you're also here, which is a bonus. gives me something nice to look at every once in a while."
mingyu snorted out a short laugh before letting out a comically loud sigh. "i knew it. you only married me for my body."
you kissed his cheek. "being a queen is nice too, but yeah. the main thing i'm here for is your body."
he sighed again before pulling away and dramatically falling against the bed, eyes closed and arms outstretched. "do what you must, wife," he cries, "i'm prepared to be ravished for the good of my people."
you laughed. "'for the good of your people'?"
he opened one eye to look at you. "whatever. i've had too long a day to come up with something less lame. can we skip to the ravishing part now, please?"
"i never agreed to ravish you."
"can you do it anyway?"
you laughed again. "is it okay if we put the lights out, then?”
"what?" mingyu's head popped up. "why?"
"to set the mood. hey, i'm doing the ravishing here, aren't i? lights off, please."
he pouted. "but what if i want to watch you?"
you rolled your eyes. mingyu was by no means an idiot, but he had a tendency to lose common sense when he was preoccupied with... other things. "then light them up again later, mingyu."
"oh. right." he cleared his throat. with a wave of his hand, the candles and sconces flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness, which was a mistake in hindsight.
"wait, mingyu, it's too dark! i can't see!"
you heard him snap his fingers and two of the furthest of lamps from the bed lit up.
"thanks," you chirped, climbing atop of him.
he gave you a pointed look. "i was promised a ravishing and i still haven't gotten it."
"you can never run a country if you're this impatient."
"we're wasting precious ti—ime!"
"can i start ravishing you now or should i wait for you to finish whatever you were saying?" you asked.
his answer was squeaky. "no, i'm good. i'll take the ravishing, please. thank you."
A general list of more irl-ish things about me that I think I’ve mentioned in comments or here on tumblr, so most people are on the same page, if anyone would actually like to know:
I think it’s very funny when people call me ‘thatdesklamp’ (it’s just so goofy) buutt you can also call me the real person name of Maggie if you would prefer
I chose my username the same way Billie Eilish chose her old Instagram username (old reference I know) (I literally looked at my old desk and was like, ok bet there’s the branding done)
I live in England rahhh (though I am not a rah I promise ok)
I’m currently a uni student and am a #woman in stem (hashtag is required) (once again, the phrase is so funny to me, I will always say it) (#steminist)
I have an A Level in English Lit and therefore will not shut up about it
I am a fervent hater of ‘Atonement’ by Ian McEwan (sorry Ian)
I’m not straight! Hence the silvermist pfp and the ‘yes she was my favourite character’ pun in my bio. It started off as a joke but I do not actually know whether the joke lands or not so I felt I should clarify.
I’ve been writing for years—pre-Ao3, I wrote many tens of thousands of words of essentially a Zuko x reader (from a:tla, sigh). It was very very bad and will never see the light of day. But it also got me back into writing! I look back on with the same awkward affection that you feel when you see childhood videos of yourself being a bit of a tit.
20 questions: fic author edition!
tagged by @caesarflickermans :)
how many works do you have on ao3?
12 posted. I've deleted a couple over the years that I wasn't proud of. looking back, I should've orphaned them :/
2. what's your total AO3 word count?
169,931
3. what fandoms do you write for?
mostly the hunger games. I have one that's from the book thief, and one unposted WIP from a:tla.
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
let the memories be good for those who stay
gym class
something of our own
cinderella man
so this is your maverick
5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?
yes! I like to thank people and reply to their feedback. I love to discuss fic with writers and readers. I leave detailed comments for that reason.
6. what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
my first one, to have and to hold. (This happens year after year and it will never stop.)
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
cinderella man. (Where Katniss kissed him on his cheek before heading for the forest with her bow feels puckered and hot (sunburned), tingling. Happy. He thinks it's a good look for him.)
8. do you get hate on fics?
not hate but I've had criticism over some Gale-related parts of SOO. just as well, I am now very self-conscious about that part of the story. 😀
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
not really, or not explicitly. I appreciate when sexual content is more emotion-focused (good or bad) and character-driven and adds to the story. I skim/skip explicit content in my own reading so I definitely don't care to write it myself. I don't think I'd be very good at it, either; I am very clinical about the body.
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
I've written one, and it's so crazy! in a fun, unhinged-teenager way. it's a hunger games/book thief crossover called the callers from the coffin, where Death follows Haymitch over the years in the same way they did Liesel.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of.
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
no.
13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?
nope. and for good reason - I'd be terrible at that, between being a bit of a control freak and having an inconsistent writing schedule.
14. what's your all-time favorite ship?
zutara (to the point where I can never write it and am honestly so picky when it comes to reading it)
15. what's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
so this is your maverick ought to have a second part but I just don't know if I'll ever get around to it.
16. what are your writing strengths?
punctuation and grammar lmao as well as writing naturally paced dialogue. I prioritize good/accurate characterization in fanfic, but I won't say that's an actual strength of mine.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
my confidence, first and foremost lol.
also, I really have to pare down my rough drafts. I do a lot of hand-holding without realizing, even though I love to read between the lines and infer when I read other people's work. but I worry I don't write as masterfully to be able to do that well.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
fun to read! not fun to write extensively, and so I don't. the most I've done is have Rudy in let the memories be good for those who stay say ja or other words that were italicized/isolated in the original text. I try to follow the rules of the original text. otherwise, I'd just say 'spoke in X language' but continue on in English.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
a:tla, on nickelodeon forums 💀
20. favorite fic you've ever written?
that's hard! I am really having fun with something of our own, so that one.
tagging: any mutual or follower of mine who hasn't yet!!
Request:  None
Requested By:  Nobody
Pairing:  Zuko x reader
Summary:  The Siege of the North (Parts 1 and 2)
Warnings:  none?
A/N:  Last chapter of the book!
Word Count:  5K+
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You watched as Katara faced against a fellow waterbender, getting their stances ready.  His was significantly more awkward than hers.  He made a ball of ice, about the size of a torso, and threw it at her.  She turned it into water as she spun it around her, sending him up in a wave, freezing it.
“That was fast.”  You muttered.
“Nice try, pupil.”  Master Pakku said, walking towards him.  “A couple more years, and you might be able to fight a sea sponge.”  He turned the ice into water, letting the poor boy fall.  “Would anyone care for a rematch with Katara?”  He asked softly, looking among the defeated men.  You had been the only one to defeat Katara, simply because you were more creative.  It was a close, and long match to say the least.
“Katara, you’ve advanced more quickly than any other student I’ve ever trained.”  Master Pakku told her.  “You have proven that with fierce determination, passion and hard-work, you can accomplish anything.”  You sighed, placing your chin in your hand.  “Raw talent alone is not enough.”  He said, looking pointedly at Aang, who was playing with Momo.  “Young pupil Aang.”
“Yes, Master Pakku?”  He asked, the lemur falling on his head.
“Care to step into the sparring circle?  I figure since you have time to play with house pets, you must have already mastered waterbending.”
Aang rose.  “I wouldn’t say mastered, but check this out!”  He summoned the snow around him, turning him into a snowman.  You smirked, but rolled your eyes.  Katara and Master Pakku didn’t seem at all impressed.  Looking to the sky, you saw Appa fly up.  Cocking your head, you excused yourself from the lesson, though nobody hear you, and nobody would notice your absence.  Your eyes stayed trained on Appa until you saw black flecks mix with the snowy, white ones.  Everyone else seemed to notice it too, because before you knew it, the warning gong was ringing, and people were running up the steps.  You saw Sokka, holding Yue’s hand, dragging her after him.
“What’s wrong?  We have to go!”  He asked, noticing she stopped.
“No, Sokka, wait.  I can’t see you anymore.  Not at all.”
“What?  We’re just friends.”  He defended.
“I wish we could just be friends.”  She admitted.  “But I like you too much, and it’s too confusing to be around you.  I’m marrying someone else.”  She said, turning away.
“You don’t love him, do you?  You don’t even seem to like him.”
“But I do love my people.”
“You’re not marrying them.”
“You don’t understand.  I have duties to my father, to my tribe.  I have to do this.”
You walked up to them.  “Guys, is this really the time?”
They both looked at you, Yue running off.  You looked at Sokka and put an arm around his neck.  “We have bigger things to worry about right now.”  You told him.  He nodded softly and allowed you to pull him into the war meeting.
“The day we have feared for so long has arrived.”  Yue’s father started.  It seemed like most of the village was here.  “The firenation is on our doorstep.”  You sat with Aang, Sokka and Katara against a pillar.  “It is with great sadness I call my family here before me, knowing very well that some of these faces may vanish from our tribe.  But they will never vanish from our hearts.  Now, as we approach the battle for our existence, I call upon the great spirits!  Spirit of the ocean!  Spirit of the moon!  Be with us!”  He looked down at the crowd.  “I’m going to need volunteers for a dangerous mission.”
Sokka was the first to stand.  “Count me in!”
“Sokka.”  Katara said softly.  Your mouth hung open.
“Sokka, what do you think you’re doing?”  You hissed as other people stood.
“I’m helping.”
You looked to Katara in worry.
“Be warned, many of you will not return.  Come forward to receive my mark, if you accept the task.”  Yue’s father said.  You looked to the men stepping forward, and saw a familiar back.  Liam.  Your heart dropped into your stomach.  You clutched your knees to your chest for comfort.  Katara looked up, and saw your friend as well, before patting you on the back.
“Y/n, I’m so sorry.”
You bit back sobs.  “His name means strong-willed warrior and protector.”  You mumbled.  “Of course he’d go.”  You stood, and went after him.  You chased him around corners until you caught up and grabbed his hand, bringing him to a halt.  He looked down at his hand, surprised, before looking up at your face, his features softening.
“Why?”  You asked.  “Why are you doing this?”
“I need to.  We have to protect our friends and family.”  He said, turning to you.
“But what if things go south?”
“It’s the North Pole.  They have to go South.”  He joked, trying to lighten the mood.  You, however, didn’t even crack a smile.
“Liam, I’m serious.  This is suicide.”
“No, it’s not.  We’re surrounded in our element.  We’ll be fine.”
“But fire melts ice.”  You argued.
“Water extinguishes fire.”  He retorted back.  You sighed, still not fully convinced.
“Be careful.”  You advised.  “I can’t lose you, too.”
“You won’t.  I promise.”  He said, pressing a kiss to your temple before walking away.
“That’s exactly what he said.”  You muttered.
~~~~~~~~~
You all waited atop a bridge.  You stood on the other side of Sokka, who stood next to his sister.  Aang sat on Appa, next to Katara.  The silence was deafening.  It was so silent you were sure Sokka could hear your rapid heartbeat.  A figure appeared on the horizon.  A ship.  A fire blast was shot out of it, heading straight for the wall you were standing on.  You raised a wave, but only succeeded in slowing it.  The fireball wasn’t simply fire.  It was a boulder of sorts, set on fire.  It hit the wall anyway, sending a few pieces and people everywhere.  The continued their assault, boulders crashing into the ice.  Appa leapt into the air, per Aang’s request, and they flew towards the ship.
You, and everyone else that was on the bridge, were on the ground, climbing out of the snow.
“Katara!”  Sokka called.  A burst of snow flew by, and you turned, seeing Katara.  Sokka grabbed her hand and pulled her out, now smiling, glad she was alright.  He was led away, getting a debriefing, while everyone else either took the fight to them, disabling their ships, or held down the fort, which is what you were currently doing.  Making ice walls to stop any incoming boulders was tiring, especially because it was now sunset.  The attacks suddenly stopped.  You looked up and saw Appa fly over.  You used bending to get a lift, and landed in the saddle.
“Aang!”  Katara shouted.  Aang landed Appa nearby and climbed off, sitting at the bison’s feet.
“I can’t do it.  I can’t do it.”  He whispered.  Appa was exhausted, and laying down.  You slid off the large creature and sat next to Aang, putting an arm around his shoulder as Katara and Yue approached.
“What happened?”  Katara asked.
“I must have taken out a dozen fire navy ships, but there’s just too many of them.  I can’t fight them all.”  He explained quietly.
“But, you have to.  You’re the Avatar.”  Yue told him.
“I’m just one kid.”  He reminded, placing his forehead in his arms.  You helped him stand, not wanting to see him so down.  You led him over to a balcony, where you all watched the moon rise.
“The legends say the moon was the first waterbender.”  Yue informed Aang and Katara.  “Our ancestors saw how it pushed and pulled the tides, and learned how to do it themselves.”
Aang still looked disgruntled, while Katara looked fascinated.  “I’ve always noticed my waterbending is stronger at night.”
“Our strength comes from the spirit of the moon.  Our life comes from the spirit of the ocean.”  She explained.  “They work together to achieve balance.”  There was silence for a moment.
“The spirits!”  Aang exclaimed.  “Maybe I can find them and get their help!”
“How can you do that?”
“The Avatar is the bridge between our world and the spirit world.”  Katara explained.  “Aang can talk to them!”
“Maybe they’ll give you the wisdom to win this battle!”  Yue exclaimed, overjoyed and filled with hope.
“Sure would have been helpful if we knew that sooner.”  You muttered.
“Or maybe, they’ll unleash a crazy spirit attack on the firenation!”  Aang shouted, not hearing you.  His enthusiasm was met with silence, though you fought a smile.  “Or wisdom.  That’s good, too.”
“The only problem is, last time you got to the spirit world by accident.  How are you gonna get there this time?”  Katara inquired.
“I have an idea.  Follow me.”  Yue instructed.  Aang followed, and you gestured for Katara to go before you.  She did, and Yue led you all to a small wooden door in the side of a wall.
“So is this the way to the spirit world?”  Aang asked, walking up to it.  Yue chuckled.
“No.  You’ll have to get there on your own.  But I can take you to the most spiritual place in the entire North Pole.”  She said, opening the small, circular door.
“I never thought I’d miss grass this much!”  You heard Aang yell, after you all stepped inside.  Aang had already made it to land, his airbending helping him, while you, Yue and Katara walked around the sides, joining him.
“It’s so warm here.  How is that possible?”  Katara asked, shedding off her coat.  Yours was already off, and lying on the grass.
“It’s the center of all spiritual energy in our land.”  Yue explained, taking her coat off as well.  Momo walked over to the small pond, and dug his paw into it, trying to grab the two fish.
“Oi!”  You yelled, scaring him.  He turned to look at you.  “Don’t!”  You instructed.
“You’re right, Yue.”  Aang started.  “I can feel…..something.”  He was on the other side of the pond, in front of a tree, under a gateway.  “It’s so….tranquil.”  He concluded, sitting down and assuming his meditation pose.
“Why is he sitting like that?”  Yue asked after a long moment.  You had all moved around to the other side, being closer to him.
“He’s meditating.  Trying to cross over into the spirit world.”  Katara explained in a whisper.  “It takes all his concentration.”
“Is there any way we can help?”  Yue asked, also in a whisper.  Aang threw his hands up in the air.
“How about some quiet!?”  He asked, turning to send you all glares.  “Come on, guys!  I can hear every word you’re saying!”  You stuck your tongue out, teasing him.
“Well maybe you’re not focusing hard enough!”  You shouted back, though not an angry shout.  He turned back, his gaze settling on the fish in the pond.  One white, with a black spot, the other the exact opposite.  They circled around each other, in constant motion.  You thought the same pattern would get boring, but they are fish spirits, so who knows?
Aang’s tattoos started glowing, and you were alarmed.  You’ve never actually seen him do it.
“Is he okay!?”  Yue asked.
“He’s crossing over into the spirit world!  He’ll be fine as long as we don’t move his body.”  Katara answered.
“And why’s that?”  You asked, not taking your eyes off the glowing boy.
“That’s his way back to the physical world.”
“So you mean he can get lost?”  You questioned.
“According to him.”
“Great.”  You said sarcastically.
“Maybe we should get some help.”  Yue said, beginning to walk away.  She sounded worried.
“No.”  Katara denied, voice even.  “He’s my friend.  I’m perfectly capable of protecting him.”
You sent a glare at her.
“We.”  She corrected.  “We’re perfectly capable of protecting him.”
“Well.”  A voice spoke.  “Aren’t you big girls now?”
“No.”  Katara muttered.  You both turned, and saw none other than Prince Zuko stalking towards you.
“Yes.  Hand him over, and I won’t have to hurt you.”
“Like you’d spare us, anyway.”  You retorted, taking a fighting stance, Katara doing the same.  Yue ran off, presumably to get help.  Zuko shot fire blasts at both of you.  You both blocked, summoning water.  Katara shot at him, sending him flying.
“I see you’ve learned a new trick.”  He said, pulling himself to his feet.  “But I didn’t come this far to lose to you.”  He turned back around, sending more fire.  You both countered his attacks, sending some back.  He stumbled backwards into a puddle, and you froze it, keeping his feet in place.  Katara brought several layers of water, forming them into a large ball around him, freezing it.  You both relaxed for a moment, though you knew better to keep your guard down.
“You little peasant.”  Zuko taunted.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t freeze his mouth shut.”  You told Katara, loud enough for Zuko to hear.
“You’ve found a master, haven’t you?”  He asked.  The ball of ice began to glow red and shake violently.  You began summoning water, knowing where this was going.  Sure enough, the ball shattered and Zuko leapt out, firing more shots.  He advanced quickly, getting dangerously close.  You bent over backward, avoiding his burning hand.  You fell backwards into the pond, Zuko taking this chance and moving on to fight Katara.  You pulled yourself out, though on the other side to gain some distance, and shot more water at him.  He dodged you both, grabbing at Aang’s collar, but you and Katara both shot water at him, sending him backwards.  Katara summoned water, sending a flood at him, raising him up against a wall, before freezing it, keeping him there.
You turned and watched the sunrise, feeling its warmth already.  The light spread throughout the entire place.  You looked back at Zuko, seeing the light cross him and the ice around him.  He suddenly looked up, scowling, there’s a surprise, and when he breathed out of his nose, you could see the steam, melting the ice.  Your eyes shot open wide, your eyebrows going to your hairline.  You retook your stance, as he leapt down wasting no time in firing at Katara, who had her back turned.  She turned around just in time, hearing his grunt, but barely summoned a water shield, knocking her into the post.  She fell unconscious, having banged her head.  Zuko turned to you, and you quickly made an ice shield around Aang, knowing you were toast.
You hadn’t quite finished when Zuko shot you, sending you backwards, the water around Aang that you were trying to turn into a shell came splashing down on him.
“You rise with the moon.  I rise with the sun.”  Zuko said, taking ahold of Aang’s collar.  You reached out before everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~
You awoke, but Katara was still out.  You stood, looking around, when you noticed there were slid marks on the wall.  You made icicles with your waterbending, and began climbing up the side of the mountain.
The top of the mountain was freezing, and you’d left your coat on the grass down below.  Unfortunately for you, you didn’t have the time to go get it.  You rubbed your arms, trying to warm them.  You saw a trail, about thigh-deep.  You bent down, so you were between the walls the path had made, blocking off some of the wind.  You were warmer down here, and you used your bending to seal off the top, so it made a tunnel.  You crawled through it, following the path you assumed Zuko had made.  You weren’t sure what you planned on doing when you found him, but you didn’t have time to think it over.
The trail suddenly stopped, and there was a giant gap.  You closed your eyes, bending the snow across and freezing it.  You slowly and carefully went across, careful not to look down.  You got to the other side and you resumed your journey.  You continued crawling until you saw the trail getting shallower.  You made a gap in the ‘roof’ you’d made, and looked around.  It was still snowing pretty badly, but there was a cave up ahead.
Well, he’d defiantly head for shelter.  And obviously he’d made it this far.  You kept crawling, hearing faint voices.  Or one voice, but talking to someone.  As you got closer, you could hear what he was saying.
“There’s always something.”  The voice drew nearer and you halted your movements.  “Not that you would understand.  You’re like my sister.  Everything always came easy for her.  She’s a firebending protégé.  And everyone adores her.  My father says she was born lucky.  He says I was lucky to be born.”
Your heart sank.
“I don’t need luck, though.  I don’t want it.  I’ve always had to struggle in fight and that’s made me strong.  It’s made me who I am.”
There was silence and you were sure you could actually hear your heart breaking in the midst of it.  You felt pity.  Understanding.  Footsteps retreated and you leapt out of the snow, using your bending to freeze Zuko to the wall.  You rushed forward to grab Aang and take him back, but Zuko broke out quickly with a grunt and shot at you, knocking you back into the snow.  The harsh temperatures and exhaustion consumed you, and you fell unconscious again.
~~~~~~~~~~
Your eyes snapped open.  You were in the cave, looking at the back wall.  Ahead of you, and to your right was Aang, tied up, and still in the spirit world.  You looked to your left and was met with a chest.  You looked up and saw Zuko.  He had his left arm under your legs, his right on your back, keeping you upright, and you sat in his lap.  You looked up at him and met his eyes.
“You’re not the only one benefiting from this.”  He spoke.  “Our combined-”
“I know what body-heat does, Prince Zuko.  I grew up here, remember?  Well, not here, here.”
It grew silent again and you looked back up at him.  It was then you noticed his cuts and bruises.
“What happened?”  You asked softly.
“The pirates attacked my ship.  They wanted revenge about the waterbending scroll.  They thought I’d died.”
You pulled your water out of your canteen and raised it to his face.  He flinched back.  “What are you doing!?”
“Calm down.  I’m healing you.”  You told him.  “Relax, and try to hold still?”  You pressed the water to his face, and he flinched slightly at the contact, but said nothing.  You focused your energy and the water began to glow, healing his bruises, cuts and burns.  When you were satisfied with the results, you directed the water back into your canteen.  You took his chin with your thumb and forefinger, turning his head so you can check to see if you’ve gotten everything.  He said nothing, but he looked uncomfortable.  You released his chin, looking over at Aang.
“What exactly is it that you plan on doing with him?”
“I’m taking him back to my father so he can restore my honor.”
“And you’re sure he’ll do that?  Would he kill Aang?”
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.”
“The Avatar is my business, buster.”  You scowled, getting out of his lap and crawling over to Aang.  You placed his head in your lap.  “They can’t hurt him.”  You told Zuko, sending a glare his way.  Your face softened as you looked down at the boy.  “I won’t let them.”  You mumbled.  You looked up at Zuko.  “Do you really think the Firelord’s going to restore your honor?  How long is it that you’ve been doing this?”
“Two years.”  He muttered.
“Two years.  And you expect him to welcome you back with open arms?”
“You know nothing of my father!”  He snapped.
“Sounds like you don’t either!  He may be your father, but he’s still the Firelord.  The most feared man on the planet.  Known for being ruthless.”  You got quieter as you spoke the last sentence.  You turned back to Zuko, and gestured at him.  “Look what he did to you!  His own son!”
Zuko looked down at the ground.  Even though he wasn't saying anything, everything from the look in his eyes, to his posture was screaming 'suffering'.  You sat in silence, awaiting his next move, when you felt a shift.  You looked down and saw Aang, awake and no longer glowing.
“Aang!”  You exclaimed.  He looked up at you.
“Y/n?”  He questioned, looking around.  His eyes landed on Zuko.
“Welcome back.”  He said.
“Good to be back.”  Aang replied.  He took in a big breath of air, and blew out, sending Zuko into the wall, and you and Aang flying outside, into the snow.  You both rolled for a bit, before finally coming to a stop.  Aang began trying to inch away, he was still tied up, and you ran over to help, but Zuko beat you to it.
“That won’t be enough to escape.”  He informed, grabbing onto the boy.
“Appa!”  Aang shouted.  Sure enough, Appa landed beside you.  Katara slid off, and Zuko tossed Aang aside.
“Here for a rematch?”  He asked.
“Trust me, Zuko; it’s not going to be much of a match.”  She said.  He shot at her, but she easily blocked it.  She sent snow at him, raising him in the air and freezing it, before slamming him into the ground.  He was knocked unconscious.  You shuddered, remembering how cold it is, and that you didn’t have your coat, or Zuko’s body-heat.  You scrambled over to Aang.
“Are you okay?”  You asked, trying to undo the knots.
“I’m okay.  Did he kidnap you, too?”  Aang asked.
“Not exactly.”  You looked up at him, seeing him looking at you with a quizzical look in his eyes.  “Look, he took you and I followed him.  That’s all.”  You clarified.  “Ugh!  These knots are impossible!”
Sokka ran over with his knife, starting to cut the knots.  You looked over to Zuko’s unconscious form.
“This is some quality rope!”  Sokka observed, pulling you out of your thoughts.
“We need to get to the oasis.  The spirits are in trouble!”  Aang informed, running to Appa and hopping on.  You looked back to Zuko as Sokka and Katara climbed on as well.
“Y/n?  Aren’t you coming?”  Sokka asked.
“Wait.  We can’t just leave him here.”  Aang said, noticing your hesitation.
“Sure we can.  Let’s go.”  Sokka replied.  You glared up at him.  He groaned.  “Y/n, we don’t have time for this!  Besides, he’s a bad guy.”
“I’m not leaving him!”  You insisted.  You walked over and began dragging him out of the pile of snow.
“Why not?”  Sokka questioned.  You paused, looking down at Zuko.
“I don’t know.”  You admitted.  “It doesn’t feel right.”  You concluded, using bending to lift the snow he was on, pushing him to the saddle.
“If we leave him, he’ll die.”  Aang said.
“Yeah, this makes sense.  Let’s bring the guy who’s trying to kill us!”  Sokka exclaimed sarcastically.
“Sokka, shut up!  For once in your life!”  You snapped, laying Zuko down on the familiar brown saddle.  “If it makes you feel any better, you can tie him up!”
Sokka grew quiet, but tied him up.  You sat on your heels and rested his head on your lap.  Katara looked at you with a quirked eyebrow.
“Why are you doing this?  I thought you hated Zuko.”  She asked.
“I pity Zuko.”  You clarified, looking up at her, subconsciously running the back of your hand over his head.
“What?  Why!?”  Sokka asked.
“I heard some things I wish I hadn’t.  It’s just going to make this harder.”  You muttered, looking back down at him.  They had more to say, but the moon suddenly turned red, transforming the rest of the blue sky into a red as well.  You were surprisingly thankful, as it stopped the questions directed at you.
Yue clutched her head in her hands.
“Are you okay?”  Sokka asked, reaching for her.
“I feel faint.”  She answered.
“I feel it, too.  The moon spirit is in trouble.”  Aang said.
“I owe the moon spirit my life.”  Yue informed.
“What do you mean?”  Sokka asked.  You looked down at Zuko, having heard this story before.  When she was born, she was sick.  It was almost like she was asleep.  The healers did everything they could, but to no avail.  Her father prayed to the spirits, and they placed her into the oasis.  Her hair turned white and she began to cry.  As she was telling them this, you simply stared down at the hurt boy before you.
How can one’s own family be so ruthless?  So cruel?  Your heart went out to him.  You had no idea how he’s stayed this strong.  So full of hope.  His capture of the Avatar was the only thing that could restore his honor.  Or so he thought, anyway.
Appa landed at the oasis, and you could see Zhao.  He was holding a bag, saying that he’ll be a legend.  Momo landed on his head, and pulled at his hair and beard.
“Get it off!”  He shouted.  Momo flew back over and landed on Aang’s outstretched arm.  He, Katara and Sokka stood, at the ready, while Yue sat in the saddle, unable to do anything.  You also sat in the saddle, unable to do anything, but you had Zuko, so.
“Don’t bother.”  Zhao said, raising his fist and pointing it at the bag.
“Zhao!”  Aang dropped his staff.  “Don’t.”  He pleaded.
“It’s my destiny to destroy the moon and the watertribe.”  Zhao insisted.
“You’re delusional.”  You retorted.
“Destroying the moon won’t hurt just the water tribe.”  Aang said, raising his hands in surrender.  “It will hurt everyone.  Including you.  Without the moon, everything would fall out of balance.  You have no idea what kind of chaos that would unleash on the world.”
“He is right, Zhao.”  A voice said.  You turned.  It was Iroh.  A giant grin spread on your face, despite the situation.
“General Iroh.  Why am I not surprised to discover your treachery?”  Zhao asked.
“I’m no traitor, Zhao.  The firenation needs the moon, too.  We all depend on the balance.  Whatever you do to that spirit, I’ll unleash on you, tenfold!  Now let it go, now!”  He shouted.  Your eyes widened.  You were actually scared of Iroh.  Well, maybe not scared of him, more worried for Zhao, should he decide to ignore Iroh.
Zhao’s face softened and he released the fish back into the pond.  The blue color returned to the sky and you let out a breath of relief.  But you were too relaxed too soon.  Zhao shouted and sent a fire-whip at it.  The world turned gray.  Your mouth dropped open as Iroh charged, his fireballs being the only color in the universe.  He shot all four of Zhao’s men down swiftly.
Zhao fled, while Yue climbed out of the saddle to join your friends on land.  They were talking when you felt Zuko shift slightly and you peeled your eyes away from the scene before you to look down at him.  His eyes snapped open and he tried to sit up quickly, but you held him down, urging him to be quiet.  He opened his mouth to speak, but you placed a hand over it, shaking your head and looking over your shoulder.  You were relieved to see they were still talking.  You bent down so you wouldn’t have to talk loudly.
“I’m going to get you out of here, but you have to be quiet, or they’ll have my head.”  You whispered.  He nodded and you slowly took your hand off his mouth.  You untied him and he sat up, rubbing where the rope was on his arms to relieve some of the pain.  You shot a quick look behind you again, seeing Aang in the Avatar state, walking towards the pool.  You turned back to Zuko.
“You have to go.  Now.”  You instructed.  “Be careful.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Call it getting even.  You saved my life in the cave, remember?  I would have died.”
“But how did I-”
“Go.”  You urged quietly.  He held eye-contact with you for a few moments before he dropped off Appa.  You let out a breath of relief and turned back to your friends, hopping down as well.  You stood next to Iroh and watched as the gray earth turned blue, and the water glowed, forming into a giant creature, Aang in its chest.  He walked away, and you chased after it, seeing what it was doing.
The large creature was sending all of the firenation running.  You watched with interest until something caught your eye.  The blue was contrasted by reds and yellows.  You turned and focused, seeing Zuko fighting Zhao.  You made your way closer, careful to not get too close, and kept a watchful eye on them, in case anything should happen.
You watched as the spirit sliced the fire navy ships, dismantling them.  It raised a large wave, pushing the ships out of sight.  You turned back to Zuko and Zhao.  You watched for a few moments before the color came back.  Your brows furrowed.  The fish was dead.  How did-?
“Yue.”  You breathed out.  You looked back at Zhao, who was equally as shocked, and even angrier.  The spirit’s hands came around the edges of the bridge they were battling on.  Zuko ducked out of the way, but they wrapped around Zhao, lifting him up.  Zuko reached forward.
“Take my hand!”  He offered.  Your eyes grew wide and your mouth parted slightly.  Zhao refused and the spirit’s hand dragged him down in the water.  You scrambled over as quickly as you could.  Zuko shot fire at you quickly, but you easily blocked it.
“Woah!  It’s just me!”  You defended, holding your hands in the air.  “Chill.”  His posture relaxed, though only slightly.  “Do you think he’s gone?”  You asked, looking up at him.
“I don’t know.”
“I wouldn’t know how he would survive.”  You muttered, looking at the water.  It seemed so natural.  Like it didn’t just drag someone to his death.  You bit your lip and jumped up on the side of the bridge, sitting, facing opposite of Zuko.  You looked over at him.  “That was very nice of you.”
He said nothing.
“Prince Zuko, it’s not your fault.  You offered.  It was his own pride that killed him.”
Zuko turned to you, getting aggravated and uneasy about your presence.  “Shouldn’t you be with your friends?”  He asked, with a slight edge to his tone.
“Shouldn’t you be with your uncle?”  You retorted, crossing your arms.  You both remained in silence for a while, you swinging your legs.  You slid off the ledge.  “Look, they’ll be wondering where I am.  I just thought you needed some encouragement.”  You said, making your way back to the oasis.
~~~~~~~~
Sokka was crying, Katara and Aang were trying to comfort him.  Yue was nowhere in sight.  Your suspicions had been proven correct when you saw both fishes in the pond, circling around.  You looked to Iroh, who was beginning to walk away.  You rushed over.
“Hey, Iroh.”  You greeted.
“Hello, Y/n.  It’s been a while.”
“It hasn’t been that long.  Maybe a few weeks.”  You replied with a shrug.  “Look, you nephew’s okay.  He made it out.”  You paused.  “In fact, I wouldn’t have made it out if it wasn’t for him.”
Iroh raised an eyebrow.  “Oh, really?”
“He saved my life, Iroh.  And I heard some things he said.  I just…….don’t know what to do.”  You admitted.  Iroh smiled.
“Follow your heart.  But listen to your brain, too, because hearts can be misleading, just as the brain can.  Without their balance, things could be catastrophic.”
You smiled.  “We really need to have tea sometime.”
“It would be my honor.”  He said, bowing.  “But I must be heading back.  I’m sure I will see you again.”
You bowed as well.  “Until next time.”  You said.  He walked off and you ran over to Sokka, pulling him into a hug.
~~~~~~~~~
It was the next morning.  Sokka was talking to Yue’s father, and Katara was talking to Master Pakku.  You and Aang both watched the water, though for different reasons.  Your mind traveled back to what Aunt Wu had said.
She said you would hate a man at first, then feel pity, before love.  He was also supposed to be a great bender.  A hot-head as well.  If that didn’t scream Zuko, you didn’t know what did.
Of course, you couldn’t tell any of your friends that.  The only person you would feel comfortable telling is Iroh.  Now isn’t that ironic?  But the more you thought about it, the more Aunt Wu’s predictions made sense.
She might be right.
And it might not be so bad.
“I don’t like my money being fucked with kid…”
“Jee hush, I’m a little behind on bills right now. You’ll get your last sixty next week sometime.”
New york’s opening year climate had your hands all clammy, wrapping up in various layers of winter clothes somehow couldn’t stop the frigid whoops of air snaking their way to your body. Grip wavering visibly, trying to flip through your wallet of fresh cash and pull out a sum of money just short of sixty dollars to Jee. One thing about him is that he didn’t really like the whole ‘i’ll pay the rest later’ excuse, his policy is you either pay it or go home with nothing. Years of being a dealer had his paranoia constantly on a high most failed to understand.
Yet he found himself remorseful towards you, the both of you knowing each other since grade school, always making your payments on time. It wasn’t like you were the kind to grab and run from him anyway, an excuse this time would be tolerated by his rare patience. As soon as the paper made it into his expectant open palm, he balled it up, and replaced your empty hand with a solid pound of green in a plastic baggie.
“We hotboxing tonight or you going home?”
“Gotta go home, got work tomorrow.”
The discipline of a real job was a foreign idea to Jee, constantly running through streets for as long as he could remember. His longest ever consistent job was selling drugs. Never holding down a real home either, just constantly on the move. He says this business gets demanding like a normal job, seeing the bulge of a loaded pistol tucked into his waistband under his oversized hoodie.
“How Brooklyn been treating you Jee?”
Moving from Pasadena just a week ago had him new to the whole environment that made up the east coast, “Everything up here so damn expensive, but I’m coming from Pasadena, so it ain’t nothing I’m not used to. I hate the cold, but the rest of my group is up here so…”
He never looked at you, staring off into the distance in the park that was gradually collecting snow. Bare hands going a mild red from the dropped temperatures, then being shoved into his hoodie pockets. Kicking an accumulating pile of snow out of sheepishness during the silence between words, you decided to say something since you wanted to talk before heading off back home.
“I’m sorry about what happened to Chico…have you been at least doing well after his funeral?”
Jee said nothing for a long moment, face going unreadable and eyebrows hunching slightly together as he was seemingly thinking. Maybe bringing up a sensitive subject like that wasn’t the best social move you could’ve made, but that was your friend, and Chico happened to be his best friend as well. They were like brothers as close as they were, only to lose the man in a gunfight back when he was in Cali.
“…it’s been cool, you know. Things ain’t been ideal but shit happens, that’s life.”
As nonchalant about it as he wanted to be, you could sense his grief through his numb attitude. Eyebrows relaxing and his vision jolted to the ground, a moment before hearing the ding of his phone which softened the solemn energy around you two. Fishing the device out of his pocket, he checked the notification from some other buyer ready to purchase their products from him.
“Alright kid, see you around, don’t forget my damn sixty. I’ll blow your head off if you do.” Jee playfully hit your arm, a gesture native to the friendly relationship you two had for years now. Smacking the back of his head and laughing before you two parted off, returning to the very different lives the both of you lived.
Okay, i feel like this is pretty obvious, but boy is warm. Fuck a blanket, you have Zuko.
Cuddling with Zuko is a lot more likely than you might think. After a long day of leading, there’s nothing more he wants to do than come home and lay in bed with you.
Running your fingers through his hair while he hugs you close to him will put him to sleep instantly.
If he’s had a rough day, ask him about it, talk to him. Your voice is soothing and he’ll feel 10x better after talking to you.
“How did the meeting go?” You’re snuggled up to him, your head laying on his chest while you trace shapes into his dark robes.
“It went like usual, there were a few complaints.” Zuko sighed, his amber eyes meeting your own (e/c) ones.
“I’m sure you did great. You’re still adjusting to this whole thing, and there will always be people with differing opinions. It takes a strong leader to make tough decisions, but an even stronger one to acknowledge opposing opinions and work out a compromise.”
Zuko’s eyebrows raise a tad, unnoticeable to you. He takes that statement to heart. He understands how important it is to see every point of view. So he does.
Zuko getting flustered whenever Aang or Sokka barges in to talk to him is one of the best moments during your cuddling-time.
“Zuko!” Aang’s got something cool to show Zuko, and of course he’s too excited to knock before entering, Zuko’s face goes red as he quickly tries to get up, tossing you off of him and onto the bed.
“Woah!” You mumble, letting out a little laugh as Zuko tried to look somewhat presentable, readjusting his robes.
Zuko turns back to make sure you’re okay, but the smile you’re wearing reassures him. He’s flustered as hell, but Aang doesn’t mind. He finds it as funny as you do.
“You could’ve knocked!” Zuko raises his voice, not angrily, but just to be heard.
“I’m sorry!” Aang apologizes. He proceeds to show Zuko whatever it is he though was cool, and after promises to knock next time, which never happens bless his heart.
Zuko returns, his cheeks still pink from embarrassment.
“You’re so cute when you’re flustered.” You tease him.
“It’s not funny!” He pouts. You poke his cheeks and crawl into his lap, laying back down on top of him as he lays down himself.
“It’s a little funny.” You whisper, placing a small kiss on his cheek, which redden even more.
“Yeah yeah.” The corners of his lip point upward in a smile.
The two of you eventually fall asleep, and like most nights when you fall asleep during cuddling, his arms hold you and your legs tangle together, the sheets and covers always thrown off, or hanging on the edge of the bed.
Zuko’s warmth is enough for you.
Best Friends
Zuko x fem!reader
Summary: You stayed with Zuko in the Fire Nation and when he gets a little jealous he realizes he likes you, his best friend.
Requested?: Yes! This was inspired by a wonderful anon's request:
Love that you are taking requests, I’m so excited! Could you possibly write a jealous Zuko of Y/N, potentially best friends to lovers kind of thing, maybe when he is fire lord? Would love to see what you would do with something like that 😁
I hope you like it!
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Requests are open!!
A/n: If y’all couldn’t tell by now, I suck at thinking up titles.
  “What are you gonna do now, Y/n?” Aang asked as you looked out over the party with the rest of the group. You were the only one who was undecided about their plans after the war, but now that you'd had some time to think, you knew.
  “I’m staying here,” you announced, smiling at Zuko. He gave a small smile back as you continued, “There isn’t anything left for me back home since somebody *cough* Zuko *cough* burned it down.”
  He frowned at you. “How many times do I have to apologize for that?”
  You considered the question. “Oh, I don’t know, forever?” You chuckled. “I don’t mind though, it led to me meeting my best friend.”
  Zuko smiled again as you gave him a quick hug. “I need a new advisor if you're up for it.”
  “Challenge accepted.”
  For a while you all talked, finally enjoying yourselves. It was really nice, but eventually you were all pulled away to go and join the party. Duty called.
   As you made your way from person to person, they each congratulated you on your appointment as Zuko’s advisor. Some were less genuine than others, obviously upset that they hadn’t gotten the position.
  All of it made you a little nervous and when you finally pulled away from a not so genuine couple, you made your way to Zuko. You wanted to dance and why do it with a stranger when you could do it with your best friend?
  You were a third of the way to Zuko when you felt a tap on your shoulder. You snapped around, months of traveling with the gaang made you expect a fight, but instead you found a man a little older than you standing there.
  “You’re Y/n, right? Zuko’s advisor?” He asked.
  You nodded, giving him your default charming smile. “I am.”
  “Nice to meet you, I’m Lee.” He bowed and you quickly mimicked him. “I’m hoping to be on the council.”
  “Oh? Where are you from?” You asked, trying to make conversation as you looked for Zuko again. He had moved in the brief time you had spoken to Lee.
  “A small village that you’ve probably never heard of near another small that you’ve probably never heard of. All of the town leaders elected me to come here.”
  You nodded, finally spotting Zuko. “Maybe I’ll put in a good word for you, but for now, it was nice meeting you.”
  “Nice meeting you too, Y/n,” he said and you let out a sigh of relief as you left. It was so stressful just to talk to people now. They always wanted something and while Lee seemed kind it was hard to be sure.
  You pushed your anxieties away though as you finally found Zuko.
  “Enjoying the party?” You asked after he’d finished talking to a couple.
  “If you can call it that.”
  “Well, let’s remedy that. Come dance, it’ll be fun.”
  Zuko nodded, offering an arm to lead you out to the dance floor.
  ~~~~
  “Iroh!” You greeted the old man with a bright smile and a hug. It had been a few months since you’d last seen him and you missed him and his cheerful energy. And not only that, having him around always made Zuko happier.
  “Y/n, it’s good to see you again. I hope you’ve been well?”
  “Of course, I love the Fire Nation, especially with what we’ve done with it. Zuko’s been great!”
  “Speaking of him, where is my nephew?”
  “I’m here, Uncle!” Zuko called, speeding down the steps and immediately hugging Iroh. “How have you been?”
  “Wonderful! The tea shop is as busy as ever.” He smiled. “How are you? I hear you’re pretty busy too.”
  “Incredibly,” you agreed with a tired smile.
  Iroh nodded understandingly. “Well, now that I’m here it’s time for some fun!”
  The three of you turned to walk back into the palace, but a servant came rushing down the steps. “Your Majesty! Lady Y/n!”
  “Yes?” Zuko asked after they had bowed.
  “There’s a problem, an emergency meeting had to be scheduled.”
  You sighed, but Iroh just chuckled. “Work never really takes a break.”
  “Would you like to join us?” You asked.
  “Will there be tea?” Iroh asked, earning a laugh from you.
  “Whatever you’d like,” Zuko confirmed as you made your way to the meeting room.
You walked inside and took your seat next to Zuko, waving at those who had already arrived. Lee, who had been appointed to the council, waved back and moved to take a seat next to you as Iroh took the seat across from you.
You leaned over to Zuko. “Do you have any clue what this is about?”
“No,” he whispered back.
You sighed. “It’s probably something bad.”
Zuko was cut off from answering as a younger general, Xu, stood to address the room. He began to speak and you listened intently as he discussed a problem with the colonies: some people didn’t want to acknowledge that Zuko was the Firelord, instead they were choosing to follow ‘Firelord Azula’.
It was a problem you’d heard of before and you wondered why Xu was bringing it up now, in an emergency meeting, on your day off.
Just as you were about to voice your question Xu answered it. “Some of the leaders of the colonies have come here and we are worried that they might try something...drastic,” Xu stated.
Zuko nodded thoughtfully and you spoke up. “What do you think about giving them a tour of all the good things that Firelord Zuko has done? Maybe then they will see that he isn’t all bad?”
“Sounds like a great idea!” Lee exclaimed from your right and Zuko nodded in agreement, though there was a frown on his face. You gave him a reassuring smile and he gave a small one back.
“And you should add some more guards to Azula’s cell,” Iroh added. “But don’t let her know about this. I know that my niece is crafty, if she has hope she will act on it.”
With those decisions made, the meeting went on smoothly and you were able to get out of it relatively fast.
As people filed out of the room you turned to Zuko and Iroh. “I’m going to run up to my office real quick. I want to send a hawk to everyone about this.”
Zuko nodded. “Meet us by the turtle duck pond?”
“Yep,” you moved to leave the room, but Lee grabbed your attention.
“You know you have such amazing ideas, why do you always look to Zuko to make sure he approves?” He asked, putting his hands on your shoulders.
You gave him an incredulous look as you gently moved away. “He’s the Firelord, he has the final say on bigger matters and I’d prefer us to be on the same page.”
“His uncle didn’t ask for approval to move guards to Azula’s cell.”
“We would have moved guards to Azula’s cell no matter what, Iroh just so happened to be the one to say it.” Lee opened his mouth to argue more, but you continued, “Maybe we can talk about this another time,” you suggested, backing away. Though, by ‘another time’ you meant never.
Lee nodded. “How about at dinner tonight?”
You shook your head and gave him a fake smile. “I have plans.” With that final statement you turned around and quickly left the room. While Lee typically made you feel more comfortable in meetings, this time he was doing anything but.
You were halfway down the long hallway when you realized that you had forgotten your notes. You sighed turning around, you’d need them to write a letter to your friends. You wanted to give them as many facts as possible so they could decide what to do.
Your footsteps echoed ominously in the hall and you realized how uninviting and creepy they seemed. It was another thing you’d have to talk to Zuko about.
  You pushed aside your thoughts and slowed down as you heard slightly raised voices in the meeting room. Two you immediately recognized as Zuko’s and Iroh’s, but third, Lee’s, took you a little longer.
  “You were clearly making her uncomfortable,” Zuko stated and you could tell that he was irritated.
  “Maybe you were just uncomfortable thinking about Y/n and I dating?” Lee asked.
  “You don’t care about her, you just want power,” Zuko argued.
  You heard Lee scoff. “Maybe I do. I would be a better Firelord than you. I’m beginning to think it’s your family that’s the problem, you’ll just lead this country to ruin.”
  You let out a quiet huff of annoyance. The result of many late night chats with Zuko had led you to know one of his greatest fears: failing. You scowled though no one could see you. How dare Lee say that? You had half a mind to challenge him to an Agni Kai right here and now.
A few calming breaths later led you to remember that you weren’t a fire bender and neither was Lee. However, you still weren’t above fighting him after what he had just said to your best friend. You did not appreciate Lee speaking to him like that.
  Zuko was handling it though. “Leave,” he ordered and you could hear the glare in his voice.
  “W-What?” Lee asked, all of his fight gone.
  “I said, leave. If you are going to disrespect Y/n and I then you don’t have a place in this meeting room or in this palace.”
  You didn’t hear anything else as you hid in an alcove by the door. Lee walked out of the room and you could see he was seething, you’d never seen him that angry and you were glad he couldn’t see you. You did not want to talk to him.
  You moved back to the door to head inside, but Iroh spoke, “I’ll have some guards escort him out.”
“Thank you.” Zuko’s voice moved away from the door. “Do you think I was overreacting?”
“No,” Iroh stated. “You were concerned for Y/n, I can see how much you like her.”
  “What? No!” Zuko protested. “She’s my best friend.”
  “She’s not more than a friend?” Iroh asked teasingly.
  “I-I don’t know,” Zuko admitted much to your surprise.
  You couldn’t imagine Zuko liking you, it was a miracle you were friends after the way you had met. Could you even be more than friends? If you really thought about it you weren’t opposed to the idea.
  A chair creaked. “I’ll leave you to think about it,” Iroh said.
  “I’ll meet you at the turtle duck pond,” Zuko responded, his voice distant, as the door opened.
  “Hi,” You said, slightly embarrassed that you had been found listening.
  “You should talk to him,” Iroh advised, a kind smile on his face.
  You nodded, pushing open the door. “Hey Zuko.”
  “Y/n? H-how much did you hear?”
  “All of it,” you admitted feeling your face heat up.
  “Oh, um-“
  You cut him off. “Thank you for defending me.”
  “Of course.”
  You smiled at him. “About what I heard after that...”
  “Oh, that,” He repeated, flustered.
  “Mhmm,” you proded.
  “Well, I-I guess I like you then.”
  You chuckled at how spontaneous this situation was, but quickly realized it wasn’t a good idea. You moved over and sat in the chair next to Zuko. Taking his hands you beamed at him. “I like you too...even if you burned down my village.”
  He groaned. “I’d like you a lot more if you’d stop binging that up.”
  “It’s all a part of our story, the good and the bad.”
****
