#But know that I'm not trying to make excuses for characters being awful either

curious if you could elaborate on, like, specific cases(?) or just the general phenomena of gg community ignoring character flaws since i feel like i probably agree n wanna hear someone else's thoughts on it
Almost every single Guilty Gear character has done something that would get them ostracized in other fandoms, I think. But what I see sorta often in GG's community is that sometimes people will go to great lengths to defend one character and then talk about how bad another character is for the things they've done. Zato, for example, did horrible things to Millia and her hating him/wanting him dead is entirely justifiable. But Zato gets condemned for that while Happy Chaos, who brainwashed numerous people to fight and die for him just because he thought it was funny (among other things he did before and after that), rarely gets criticized, presumably because his personality is sillier and he's got a more broadly appealing design.
I get stuff like this happens in pretty much every fandom that's ever existed ever, but it's really funny seeing it in a game called Guilty Gear, where every character has done horrible things that haunts them haha. I went with the Zato and Chaos comparison because at least in some other characters' cases, the character does have some guilt over their actions or has a redemption arc of some kind (Bedman and Ky are good examples of that), but neither Zato or Chaos seem to have much remorse over how they've treated other people yet Zato is frequently hated while Chaos is adored.
Going back to Ky for a sec since he might seem like an odd choice to include there: Ky was a child soldier that wanted to utterly annihilate a sentient species capable of intelligent communication with evidence of a unique culture, and he killed them mercilessly when he could. But he eventually realized what he was doing was awful and went back on everything he was raised to believe to try to make up for what he did. And it haunts him. It wasn't like he woke up one day and just decided to stop killing Gears because he got bored of it; it's a major part of his character that the weight of what he had done was crushing him and he'll never fully forgive himself (or ask for total forgiveness) for it.
Bedman doesn't get as much of a chance before he dies to try to make up for what he had done, but it's still there a little bit right at the end. He's also young too and not having a fully developed prefrontal cortex is a pain in the ass. Sympathy to all the people younger than 25 out there.
Even Sol, the other main box art guy, has a whole list of awful shit he's done. He also wanted to destroy the same creatures that had individual thoughts and desires as Ky did and in Sol's case it might even be worse because he was partially responsible for their creation in the first place, and he was ruthless during his Holy Order arc when he fought against Gears the most. Ignoring Aria's wishes to be allowed to die peacefully from her illness and Sol wanting to sacrifice the entire world to save Jack-O' at the end of Strive are both selfish and awful in their own ways too. Sol is also THEE guilty Gear though. We know that's all weighing on him something fierce.
But this is what makes Guilty Gear so GOOD. It's not black and white. The good guys are deeply flawed and the bad guys can be sympathetic. This series has an insane amount of nuance that all too often gets boiled down to who's redeemable and who isn't and nearly everyone's a little bit of a bastard in their own unique ways.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I think if someone is a fan of a character that's taken/tried to take away the autonomy of another character, emotionally manipulated someone via dog murder, or wanted to exterminate an entire species that was mostly fighting back because of how humanity had treated them in the first place, that they should keep that in mind when harshly criticizing other characters' actions.

I'm assuming this was already talked about/mentioned in your posts but I do kinda wonder how awful it would be for reader during holidays and general breaks from school (bully au). Like- They would either be COMPLETELY isolated since they can't technically go home since this ain't even their world and everyone hates them, or they would have to deal with their bullies every. Single. Day. Which is hilarious to me because I can see at least some of them staying even though they were supposed to go home and rest and enjoy their break from school, so prefect just asks "Why are you even here tormenting me bro?! Don't you have a family" and the bullies have to come up with excuses to save their egos
I sometimes do go in depth detail on where reader lives within twisted wonderland because I tend to stray near canon lore. Options are that they completely have ramshackle as their home or Crowley in the kindness of his heart buys a place for them within the island (it’s close to the school just in the woods hidden deep)
tw: yandere, bully!characters, mentions of bruises/blood and vomit, force feeding/throwing up, unhealthy relationships, stalking.
(College setting)- there are other students that are staying during breaks but let’s be real no one’s gonna help you
The only major holiday that has the NRC students leaving was winter break, spring and summer. Here’s my take on each. Not proof read btw!
Tumblr media
Winter: Azul, Jade And Floyd
No surprise to canon, but their excuse to stay during break is nightmare fuel for you. You can’t run away because that only peruse Floyd and Jade to chase you down. Azul pretends to not see the abuse you’re going through. In fact he feels less occupied when the twins set their eyes on you. There is no best scenario because you should be used to Floyd coming into your room at random times.
Quote on quote, “best break ever” is exaggerated greatly whenever Floyd gets his hands on you. You’re wheezing like a dying fish as he asks you if you’re ok. Knowing it’ll piss you off but you’re on the verge of death so it pisses you off even more.
I think staying with Floyd is the better option but it REALLY depends, Jade gets a little quirky at night. Waking up on a table and strapped as he gives you shot after shit of who knows what into your system. Pretty unhinged as it’s in the dead of night and it’s freezing cold. More stoic when performing these things. Jade never gets the chance or time to do this to you so that’s off his bucket list.
Azul stuffs himself in his room all day. Only going out for a jog as he looks the other way as you’re being dragged off while clawing on the floor. It’s too early for that okz. But he’s gonna tire from your screaming and crying so he grudgingly let’s you stay in his room whenever the twins are out to hunt you down.
That’s only if you are being too much of a nuisance to him^^
Because you’re involved in the subject of his problems he gets more snappy with the twins when they try to barge into his room. Lecturing them and often times loudly making deals to lend you to them because you’re so much work. He doesn’t tho. Like a father who never wanted a dog, he tends to your needs with a sneer and turn. Does this mean you’re staying in his room the whole break? Yes. Can you try to leave? Yes. Will Azul call you ungrateful and manipulate you that the twins will bother you again. Yes.
Slumber party!!! Floyd’s idea btw. Victim of every losers downfall, getting slapped and punched whenever Floyd loses a board game. Hands nearly breaking because Jade is too cool to show anger so he takes it out on you as a joke. Azul winning said games.
Floyd WILL suffocate you in your sleep on purpose. Slumber parties with him are never a good idea because any chance to scare you he takes it. Going to the bathroom? What a coincidence he’s awake and on the side of the wall behind the door you’re leaving. Waking up? He’s staring deep into your soul just so you can cry and roll away.
Wanna talk about you staying in Azul’s room because he lets you sleep on his bed (wow omg luxury bed knocked out ZZZzzz) because he’s doing work on his desk. Often times you wake up to him sleeping on his desk. Give it a week in the break and he’s all over you. His arms in a crushing grip as he holds you in sleep, you feel like it’s forbidden to move because you’re scared he might squeeze harder than Floyd.
This only happened ONCE. Sleeps on the floor and makes dumb excuses like “humans have such odd body temperature it was like an instinct to cuddle something cold.” Or “I hold things a lot when I’m in my merform this is nothing personal.”
Spring: Ace, Epel, Ruggie
Ace and Epel straight up tell you they’re here to have a great spring break together. By that they mean messing with you. These assholes start off slow, egging your dorm, blasting loud music. Anything to get your fatigue up, that way you can start messing things up on accident when it was all purposely set.
The duo are relentlessly pursuing their harassment from day to night, until in a couple of days within the break do things stop. It’s terrifying, walking on eggshells at how they ignore you during walks, opening the door for you, heck even Epel left a basket of apples on your front door. It’s leaving you paranoid and they know it, with their innocent going smiles and tilted heads. You wish you had some form of power to get those two without getting 2v1.
Alright this is where Ruggie comes in the picture. He’s there not by choice, instead paid by Leona to watch over you since Ace has a big mouth about his plans with you.
Ruggie randomly shows up in your dorm. He’s not doing much except making sure you’re eating and not brutally beaten near death. But you can find him grudgingly cleaning the place out of boredom, catching him dusting off shelves after your success in escaping the two. He threatens you out of embarrassment to not think much of it…he just thinks you’re really dirty to leave in such an unkept place.
He does at time chase Ace and Epel off, they don’t seem to bother you much when you’re with him. So you took this to advantage to stick to him like candy. You’ve only had this type of protection with Jack, on the other hand was much more comfortable to hang around with besides the deadpan stares.
Your safe haven can only be kept for so long, once money is involved. Ruggie is counting the wad of cash by the side as the two nudge your head with their foot. Ace blames you for making the last three days of their break boring, you should’ve known better than to run off when things were getting good. Didn’t you know good pal Epel prepared some fine treats for you? (Don’t eat them).
It’s no use crying for help, Ruggie can only shrug his shoulders and tell the two not to kill you before walking away. Your last bits of hope destroyed as Epel smacks the back of your head a couple of times, saying you must be brain dead so they’ll help you out. You’re really starting to miss Jack, as apple slices are being shoved into your mouth, Ace repeatedly thrusting three fingers down your throat to making you vomit. You’re delirious when hung upside down from a tree, the two taking turns hitting you blindfolded with a bat, luckily it’s wooden but the pain still blows.
You’ll be ruffled up with a pat in the head as Ace blows smoke in your face, telling you that you did good. Epel is more enthusiastic after all that, pinching at your blood socked nose to stop the bleeding. The two are joyous and leave by throwing a couple of dollars your way. Just looking at it makes you sick as you sob on the floor, seeing Ruggies shoes.
Sobbing on the way home with Ruggie by your side, staring off into the distance whilst ignoring your loud wails. You know it annoys him but he doesn’t say anything until the door closes, he’s lazily patching up your open wounds and dabbing them with a clean cloth. Giving you medicine—if you refuse to take them he will force you. You can only conceal your sniffles by rubbing your eyes and blowing your nose with tissue. Ruggie has his back turned as he tells you to do better. If you keep it up you’ll die sooner or later at this rate. So take it as a lesson to build character.
You can’t help but agree, maybe it was the medicine taking place. But you gruffly settle down with him, he’s sitting besides you with a empty look on his face. You cant tell why he’s staring at your beaten body like some interesting figure but you preferred it like this. Dropping your head on his shoulder as you rest, because you know he’s gonna let it happen all over again.
Might as well take his advice.
Summer: Sebek, Silver, Malleus, Lilia
This was all Malleus. His idea 100%. He’d rather not spend his break staying in his enclosure with running maids and fearing fae. Instead he’d prefer is the one fearing was coming from you. And since Malleus had decided to spend his break by bothering you Silver and Sebek have no choice but to come along.
Sebek is absolutely furious once he finds out the reason Malleus wanted to stay in campus was to see you. You! Out of everyone!!! There are times where Malleus must leave campus to attend his princely duties, leaving Sebek having the opportunity to get his hands on you. By that he’s choking the shit outta you until you’re blue. He doesn’t wanna be here with YOU, now he’s stuck babysitting you. Thankfully Silver is there to prevent Sebek from successfully killing you.
You cling onto Silver like he’s your last hope. He can only do so much when Sebek is frothing at the mouth because he has the “audacity” to step in the punishments that are so rightfully placed on you. Like come on man what would Malleus think?
Malleus is into it. Tells Silver that if you ever step out of line it’s only right for him to put you back in place, physically. Silver can only stand back with a frown, not too much to displease Malleus.
Lilia comes in later, he’s wondering where his sons went. He comes at a weird timing, you’re being examined because Malleus is interested in all the marks you’ve received. It’s amazing how you’re still alive, with a kind of your own as well. Lilia won’t do much rather than spectate Malleus’s adventures with you, rather than indulging in his desires he stands by the side to make sure Malleus nor Sebek won’t go too far. They may not listen to Silver but they certainly will to him.
If you want to be left COMPLETELY alone it can only be at night with curtains over your windows. Forbid the many times you’ve shit your pants in the middle of the night to see Malleus looming over your window. Be it sleeping or walking to the kitchen he’s dead staring. For some good reason he doesn’t throw much of a fit when you use the curtains to hide from his prying eyes.
You might think Lilia is off the hook of finally leaving you alone then you’re dead wrong! Standing by the side, yea more like giving more advice to Malleus and Sebek on how to properly punish you. Back in his days punishments were something else, since you’re human they gotta go on the low. So if Lilia felt like it he can just tell them some unique and grotesque ways to get you drooling and screaming like some pig.
Silver will be there after they’re done, being told to get you cleaned up and ready for the next trick. You really don’t wanna know, but you’re silent during your healing process, he feels bad yet doesn’t voice his opinions on it.
Oh and they almost carved a sick tattoo of dragon wings on your back but Sebek suggested that he use his sword to do it and you passed out from the thought. Not your first rodeo but you know damn well none of them will be putting you on meds during the whole thing.

okay. here is my 1600+ words essay on raphael. if anyone would like to adress anything from it, please do but keep it civil! i am so damn invested in this topic, i wanna hear everyone's thoughts
raphael rant
(DISCLAIMER: this essay was not written in order to justify Raphael as a character or any of his actions or intentions. i am completely skipping any point of morality, whether my own or just in general, i simply wanted to somehow try and write my feelings and thoughts down while looking at the whole thing from a subjective point of view, analyzing the design of the game, the plotline and his whole persona and just.. idk i wanted to see whether anyone else felt the way i do because i have been going INSANE over this for the past few days)
hi. i have come here today to express my thoughts and feelings on Raphael the cambion and "his final act". this is being randomly and spontaneously written in my notes app so please excuse the absolute chaos that this essay will be (no i won't be rereading it, fuck it we ball) (CONTAINS BG3 ACT III SPOILERS!!)
first of all — i am so beyond devastated that he gets killed. and not just by anyone, he gets killed BY US. THE PLAYER. WE AS THE PLAYER DELIVER THE FINAL BLOW THAT ENDS HIS EXISTENCE. not only is that very upsetting (because come on, hot devil man, obviously i don't wanna kill him??) but it also makes me feel so.. awful. like, everything about this is wrong and i hate the fact that there is no other option.
because let's review the course of the story in the house of hope:
- we barge into his house unannounced, uninvited, while he is absent
- we invade his privacy by entering what's his own personal space (yes, i know he stole it from Hope in the first place but that is not the point here — whatever his devil business is, it's still HIS, you know?? like he is a devil, this is the kinda stuff they do and honestly? i didn't want to stick my nose into it. but obviously i did because tHe sToRy etc etc. but still, it was his own thing that basically doesn't affect the player in any way so TECHNICALLY you dont have to free Hope. you can, if your character's moral compass advises so, but it doesn't affect the main plot.)
- we then proceed to walk around his house freely, lie to his archivist in order to look at the stuff we're already planning to steal
- we meet his personal incubus whom then we have the chance to either use or kill (i fought Haarlep so that's the point of view i'm looking from at this here, in which case i also robbed their corpse) and we rob his safe. and his whole bedroom actually. we read his journals. we use his bath.
- then obviously we go and rob his entire archive which includes all of his most precious possessions
- upon stealing, we slaughter every single creature in his house, fighting our way through to get to Hope's prison
- we then kill the two spectators he has guarding her (they were probably super hard to obtain??) and we just. free his prisoner. because yeah, that is the right thing to do, IM NOT SAYING THAT'S WRONG, but let's say we skip morality for a second, let's just focus on the fact that we have no ulterior motives in freeing Hope. we just wanna mess with HIS business because why not since we're already ruining all of his plans.
- and then we have the audacity to try to leave before he comes back and act like we were never there while his entire house is turned to shit.
now let's look at this list again but this time keep in mind the fact that at that point, he hasn't done A SINGLE THING to us. like, he has never harmed us, he treated us with (let's call it) "respect" and politeness, he was fine with our hesitation towards his deal and was willing to give us time. he was never aggressive towards us, he was never "the enemy".
and now you can say - okay wtf is wrong with you, that man literally admitted his intention of conquering the worlds, enslaving all mortals and basically becoming the tyrant of all while also most likely stealing everyone's souls for his own pleasure.
yes, he did, and yes, that's bad. but just because those were his intentions does not give us the right to do all that shit to him AND THEN KILL HIM. AS IF WE HAD THE RIGHT TO SERVE JUSTICE HERE?? YEAH HIS PLANS ARE EVIL BUT IT IS NOT UP TO US TO DICTATE HIS CONSEQUENCES. HIS PLANS WOULD ONLY SUCCEED IF WE GAVE HIM THE CROWN IN THE END, SO JUST- DON'T?? LIKE DO YOU GET WHAT I MEAN. IM NOT TRYING TO JUSTIFY HIS ACTIONS OR INTENTIONS, BY ALL MEANS. i'm just trying to express how weird this all made me feel because not everyone decides to play as the selfless, lawfully good hero of all, protecting the world from all evil, ever! this is roleplay, afterall!
and them obviously he comes home. he is furious, as he should be. but mostly he's betrayed because, as weird as it may be, he trusted us. he admitted to growing "quite fond of us, in his own way". he thought we were some weird sort of.. acquaintances? friends maybe? (again, i know most of our relationship with him is mostly just him manipulating us but still, it's quite clear he wasn't expecting this betrayal) and we just barged in there and disrespected him in the worst way possible. so obviously he wants to kill us now and obviously we can kill him since he's just a boss in a game. and that's what we do. and then.. that's it. we're the good guys. we ruined a man's whole career because we needed one of his toys, murdered him in his own house and just left. and we're supposed to be the good guys.
i think the source of my problem is that Raphael is never introduced as evil. we don't meet him as the big bad villain that we know we'll have to kill at some point. i swear to god, at the beginning of act 3 i trusted that man way more than i trusted the Emperor and i was so close to agreeing to his deal just because i felt like i could trust him and he would keep me safe (for some reason, let's blame it on those wonderful eyes of his).
we meet him so early on in the game and he follows through all 3 acts, making it feel like he's gonna be some key character that will matter in the end - turns out, no! we were just supposed to rob and kill him. and that's literally it. talk about wasted potential.
when i first met him i got the "unofficial narrator" vibes from him, as if he was only supposed to seem intimidating and "evil" but you could sense there was so much more to him and i was dying to see how his story would unwrap. i was so ready for a redemption act, a plot twist, anything. man was i disappointed. because how cool would it be if he turned out to be a part of the "gather your allies" quest?? imagine having him as an ally and an ACTUAL friend in the end??
and don't even GET ME STARTED on what the orb in Helsik's shop shows you after you kill him. the fact that he's not even dead yet but ABOUT TO BE DEVOURED BY MEPHISTOPHELES. ABOUT TO BE DEVOURED. BY HIS FATHER. HE. WHAT. THATS THE ENDING HE GETS. and we are the ones that served it to him when he got RIGHTFULLY pissed at us for doing all that shit to him. and im supposed to just be fine with it?? i'm supposed to feel like this was the ending he deserved and i did the right thing??
god what i would give for a different way. idk. striking a new deal with him. saving him from Mephistopheles afterwards. REDEMPTION ARC?? ANYTHING?? NO? THATS IT THEN?
now i know that you dont HAVE to kill him, you can either agree to his deal or just ignore him and the house of hope altogether. but that just defeats the whole purpose of this character?? agreeing to his deal and giving him the crown at the end results in a pretty bad ending and ignoring him means that yeah, you don't have to kill him but you also don't get anything else from him anymore. like he has no other endings, just either death or his big evil plans. and for a game with so many choices and so much branching, it just feels almost weird that that's all he is there for. then why do we meet him in act 1? why does he follow through to act 2? (yeah, astarion, i know, but i cant help but feel like they could have put a completely different way to read his runes there if they didnt want Raphael specifically to help us) WHY ARE WE ALREADY SO USED TO HIM BY THE TIME HE PRESENTS HIS DEAL? if the whole hammer business is the only thing he's in the game for, then we may have as well been introduced to him only in act 3 during the whole Voss quest. but we knew him already and he felt like some sort of a.. friend lets call it? idk. this just does not make sense to me and makes me genuinely so sad.
as i'm writing this, it's the third day after ive completed the house of hope and i literally can not think about anything else. like my mind is just going on and on about this and i cant get over it!! im actually GRIEVING a fictional devil and i dont know what to do with all these.. thoughts.
so now i actually genuinely MISS THAT MF. I MISS HIM. GIVE HIM BACK. I WASN'T DONE AND NEITHER WAS HE. PLEASE PLEASE LARIAN I CAN FIX HIM—
okay i think thats it for now. idk i wrote this so chaotically i already forgot what i said and didnt say. im just. im feeling so many things. im so fucking sad and mad that this is how it ends. rest in peace hot devil man i will never forget you.

The Collector Isn't a Baby. He's a Monster.
In terms of villains for TOH, The Collector dehumanizes and takes away more agency from more people, and instills more widespread, constant fear in the populace, than Belos EVER did. Heck, probably soft killed WAY more people too with his puppets too if not for the fact that Belos has been doing it longer. This is just a fact of the character.
And this isn't "Oh, that was while he was with the archivists." No. It's not. It's in For the Future. Really bluntly too for that matter. He has literal, unmanned drones hunting for people to turn into puppets for his own amusement. It's the only way that Hexside doesn't come across as brain dead is that some of the kids saw what the stars did, people tried to defend the school when they showed up and then the stars did what they do: Turn people into puppet and abduct them.
And then, MONTHS later, they are STILL doing that. As far as that implies, the Collector genuinely won't be done with soft killing people until he has EVERYONE on the Isles. Which then makes who he lets live make no sense, especially since the stars turn people into puppets the second aggression is shown. Why/how did Terra, who has no filter, ever, survive for so long? Because it was up to the Collector? Because he apparently doesn't have actually enough control over the puppets to make them pretend to be Eda well enough? That's still dehumanizing her as her and Odalia are only allowed to be people because they satisfy his desires better that way.
Meanwhile, Hexside has guard shifts. That implies that they think the Collector will actually attack them and has potentially done so in the past. That they need to fend off assault. We have no idea who the Collector's minions are because we never see them but this is still a group of KIDS, terrified for their life and having to literally work around the clock for survival.
None of which, Belos caused, either through the Collector or before. The VAST majority of people on the Isles were genuinely happier with Belos. Hell, Belos never targeted kids. You could be under his regime and in school and you did not require a coven sigil. The fucker didn't even have a plan for them as during the Day of Unity, he was preparing to leave without even checking his work. Worse yet is that a wild witch of at least close to Eda's same age faced no consequences when she finally turned herself in and took the sigil. That's the extent of how non-existent Belos' fear and dehumanization was. It's effectively a volunteer system so long as you aren't loud about how you break the law.
And yes, you can claim parallels to LGBTQIA+ people, especially in places where being gay is illegal and punishable by death but... Then the Collector just tries to wipe them all out. The only people he seems to have no interest in collecting are... Eda. He might spare Lilith again but I'm pretty sure she gets turned into a puppet again as well so it's literally just Eda and only because Eda matters THAT MUCH to King.
Which cute... But it doesn't excuse him. Doesn't excuse that he explicitly knew that Belos' plan would kill people and knew that for CENTURIES. He was excited to play amongst the BONES after all. Hard to deny you know what death is with a statement like that. Especially because Belos wouldn't have sugarcoated it. Their deal would have been to give him a way to murder all the witches and power in return for the Collector's freedom.
In order for the finale to work AT ALL, you have to ignore ALL of this. How the Collector was 100% evil. He might have been scared of being alone and what not but he still did AWFUL things without any prompting. Without any encouragement. Without anything to justify it or even explain why he did all of this besides finding trying to work with people annoying and frustrating. So why not turn them into dolls? Easier for him and more fun too.
The Collector is not an infant. He is not a child. He has lived for THOUSANDS of years. He has killed people. He cares not for the sanctity of life. He never recalled his stars because he doesn't even consider what his actions are doing because he would have to give a single fuck about someone other than himself. He only cares about King because King makes him feel better and even King is TERRIFIED.
But sure: Celebrate when the abuser and killer is redeemed and is best buddies with the person he forced to be his friend for literal months. Who had to sit in fear of saying the wrong thing, something not even Hunter feared with Belos. It's literally the first thing Hunter does the first time the two talk while King is constantly terrified anytime he has to ask for even the slightest concession.
And then he's used to criticize how SU redeemed tyrants and killers, thousands of years old, with just a speech about friendship. I'm sorry, I don't feel like that quite holds water, do you?
======+++++======
Anyone who wants to debate on me saying The Collector soft kills people, really think about what being a puppet means. You have no autonomy. You can do nothing. You are literally trapped in a body with your consciousness apparently intact but unable to stop anything that is done to you with no reason to believe you'll ever be freed. Frankly, that to me seems like a fate worse than death.

I just realize you're the only person who point out that Felix and Kagami would be just as in the wrong for hiding the truth from Adrien. Most people I know puts the blame entirely on Marinette and like yeah, I get it it's really bad she would keep something like that a secret from her boyfriend but at the same time how do you deal with that big of a burden?
If it were up to me, I'd make her deal with it the same way like in the Dragon Prince with how Rayla tries to tell Callum and Ezran about their dad being dead but idk, maybe it's not the same with Adrien so it's unfair.
I'm just irritated at people who blame Marinette just cuz she's her gf and not at the adults like Nathalie or Amelie, Marinette's a child, what about Felix and Kagami? They care about Adrien too right?
Yep, it's somehow all Marinette's fault even though Felix knew for all of season five. He knew before then, too, but at least you could argue that he was fearing for his life in previous seasons. As soon as he got the peacock? No excuse. Especially since he got the peacock by trading away Adrien's freedom. A thing he arguably didn't even need to do since I don't think anyone believes that Gabriel would have said, "No" to only getting all of the miraculous. Felix just offers up the ring without even waiting for Gabriel to ask for it. A master negotiator this boy is not.
To add even more insult to injury, season five gives Felix a subplot about informing freaking Kagami and faking her amok. A girl he literally just met gets the treatment that Felix arguably owes to Adrien after all the shit Felix has put him through. You can't even argue that Felix did it because Tomoe isn't a threat on the scale of Gabriel. She's literally a co-conspirator in season five and Felix knows that because Kagami wouldn't be a sentimonster if Tomoe wasn't involved. And Tomoe has always been written as far more hands-on than Gabriel when it comes to controlling her kid, so this isn't even a case of Felix picking the easier target. He doesn't care about easy targets or subterfuge since he, you know, kidnaps Kagami in front of her mother?
But does anyone in the fandom seem to acknowledge that? No and I really don't get it. If hate must be assigned to a character and not the writers, then Felix deserves so much more hate than Marinette.
Kagami isn't innocent either. She knew the truth for about half of the season and yet she doesn't seem to care about telling Adrien. At the same time, she's fine outing Ladybug's secret identity and fine telling Marinette everything, none of which is done in the name of justice. Kagami does it all for purely selfish reasons. To me, this was as much of a character assassination as the whole Kagami believing Lila thing even though Kagami should know the truth about Lila after the Oni-chan incident (Lila faking the kissing picture and texting it to Adrien's contacts).
Then there's Nathalie. In my opinion, Nathalie's redemption is a joke and one of the key reasons for that is how little she cares about actually saving Adrien. At no point does she tell him the truth even though she knows she's dying. She could have very easily died much sooner than the final, leaving Adrien to obey Gabriel's commands, never knowing that he was being controlled. She doesn't even try to find someone else to guard Adrien's ring. She just maintains the status quo and pretends that everything is fine while occasionally asking Gabriel to pretty please change his mind and think of Adrien? Please?
Lady, you literally pinned this man to a table at the start of the season and you are his second in command. You know all his secrets. You have access to everything. You have the power to take him down. You have the power to save Adrien. You are an awful, awful mother figure who put Gabriel's wants above Adrien's needs right up to the very end. Did you even think you had a chance to fire that cross bow or was this just another, "I'm totally helping" feel good moment to assuage your guilty conscious before you died?
And Amelie. Oh, Amelie. If you hate what Colt did to your son, then why are you idly standing by while Gabriel does the same thing to your nephew? You know that Felix has the peacock, so he's safe from being snapped. Why aren't you encouraging him to help Adrien? Or, if you want to keep protecting Felix, then why don't YOU go to Ladybug and Chat Noir and tell them that Gabriel is behind everything? Surely you have to know that Felix isn't safe as long as Gabriel has all those miraculous, right? Gabriel knows that you and your son know everything. A terrorist knows that you're a chink in his armor. Why aren't you terrified by that?
In summary: yeah, Marinette should tell Adrien. It's totally fair to be mad at her. But dear God, she should never have been put in a position where she needed to tell him because one of these four should have done it long before the end of season five! The fact that Marinette was put in this position in the first place is terrible, nonsensical, illogical writing. So go ahead and be mad at Marinette, but you sure as shit better be just as mad at the people who knew everything and did nothing, leaving a teenage girl to face it all alone while bearing the safety of the world on her shoulders.

Okay this will be rambly as it's been too long since I've tried to put my thoughts in a coherent meta sort of thing, but I've come to the conclusion I might like how the whipping is treated in erha.
(for anyone following the official english release, beware of spoilers ahead)
It was something that threw me off at first and made me doubt I'd ever really like Chu Wanning, I even compared him to Shen Jiu around that time, but looking back at it having read erha in its entirety I can look at it with a different perspective.
While I do like how having Chu Wanning whip Mo Ran so early on helps present him as the terrible teacher of Mo Ran's altered memories and deceive the reader, I think it's also an interesting side of him as a character that he did that in the first place. To me, it seems that Chu Wanning is one of the people who have bought into the myth of physical punishment which seems to exist in his society. It's not a belief shared by everyone, Mo Ran certainly doesn't buy into it, but it isn't a belief Chu Wanning seems to have taken from within himself or even one that he fully agrees with.
There are rules on Sisheng Peak which include whipping as a punishment, we see this as the system Chu Wanning uses as a guideline to base his decisions on, not only for Mo Ran but himself as well. His punishments aren't chosen entirely on a whim.
Chu Wanning looked up to shoot him a glare. The Jielü Elder shut up. “In accordance with the rules, the punishment for this transgression is two hundred strikes, three days of protracted kneeling in Yanluo Hall, and three months of confinement,” Chu Wanning stated. “I do not dispute the transgression, and I am prepared to receive the punishment.” Dumbfounded, the Jielü Elder glanced left and right, then curled his finger. The doors to the Discipline Court closed with a thud, leaving only the two of them standing face-to-face in the silence. “What is the meaning of this?” said Chu Wanning. “How do I say this… Yuheng Elder, it’s not like you don’t know—the rules may be rules, but they don’t really apply to you. The doors are closed; this stays between you and I. What say we just let it slide? If I actually strike you and the sect leader finds out, he’ll have my old hide.” Chu Wanning didn’t feel like wasting his breath, so he simply said, “I hold others to the rules, and I will hold myself to the same.”
Now, that doesn't excuse him, I wouldn't say that's what the story is trying to say and I'm not either. It's more that to me that's part of what makes it forgivable when to other characters it isn't.
There are characters like Madam Yu from MDZS who are clearly using that punishment excessively and unnecessarily, out of cruelty, which I can't forgive. Chu Wanning, however, I'd say is more misguided, which earns him a different approach.
Although he doesn't look remorseful when we first see him whip Mo Ran, we learn later that he was and tried to make up for it in his own awkward way. One of Chu Wanning's most defining traits is his immaturity (in my interpretation anyhow), he is a man that was raised not to be his own person and hasn't been living with others for all that long and it shows.
Huaizui seems to only have taught Chu Wanning shallowly, to the point of lying about the state of the world outside, because he was never meant to be his own person who has complex relationships with others. It makes sense though, why would he do that when Chu Wanning was only a vessel for someone else's soul?
So when it comes to making those difficult decisions, like how to discipline his disciples, he is sometimes lacking and refers to the guidelines that he has. With whipping being an acceptable punishment in his sect and his own issues with anger, I see how he arrived at that punishment at times.
It's an awful thing to do, but I like how it's a mistake that humanizes him and explores his upbringing and the places where he falls short.
And Chu Wanning himself knows, on some level, that this is the wrong way to go. That's why he feels guilty and makes Mo Ran wontons to apologize, but he lacks the ability to choose another course of action, most likely because he's never been taught how.
(And this is something that he does improve on somewhat throughout the book, especially in regards to how he treats Mo Ran, who challenges him to think about these difficult questions and to work on his emotions the most.)
In the end, I think Chu Wanning is someone who truly wants to be a good teacher and a good person that help others, which he does often achieve, but sometimes he is held back from that by his own shortcomings which themselves are connected with the ways in which he's been failed by others (especially those who were meant to care for him).

See, here's the thing, I am onboard with SolarxMoon. Their dynamic is the cutest within the Tsams/Tlaes that I have enjoyed. What I am not onboard, as an AroAce, is when you and your friends use your A-specs cards as some sort of gotcha. Yes, some A-specs can date either romantically or qpr, and they are used against us A-specs that are romance/sex-repulsed as some sort of invalidation of who we are. We are all too familiar with: "Well, this A-specs person dates. What's stopping you? You have no excuse." and "I like shipping and I'm A-specs, so..."
You and your friends got to understand why the way you worded things made you three seem aphobic to your own community. Adding on, celebrating that Moon is now questioning was another questionable move on your guys' part. A lot of A-specs Tsams fans found comfort in him being AroAce and being the representation for a group who has little to no representation at all in any sort of media. Imagine how it felt seeing people of your own community being happy that the one thing we had as a community is now being erased.
Just because you're part of the minority group doesn't mean you can't be -phobic to that very same group. Tons upon tons of LGBTQA+ infighting has proven this.
Okay.
I tried to go to bed.
But I couldn't after I got this message.
It got me really tossing and turning and thinking, truthfully.
So, maybe I haven't made myself clear in my initial posts.
But I am not saying or using A-spec cards as a "gotcha"
That is not my intention so let me make it abundantly clear what I am trying to say.
Solar and Moon are not real.
Even if Moon was ace, I would ship them Queerplatonically, and I still do right now.
I believe limiting characters on how they can be shipped is Acephobic. Because you are limiting options and narrowing the box of what the ace spectrum can be.
My experiences are not others experiences.
The reason why I personally was excited about Moon being questioning, is because my sexuality is very fluid.
I have identified as Bisexual, Queer, Dyke, Questioning, Demisexual, Grey and Fag.
As of now, I am experimenting with the term aroace and it seems to fit me for now. Will I change it in a few years? Perhaps. I'm not even sure on how much aroace I am. Probably more demi or grey spectrum.
But a fictional character, expressing need to change their sexual orientation because of differing circumstances, means a great deal to me. Because back then, folks thought 'the gays' we're just all 'born this way' or there is something wrong with us.
That if you were gay or ace or lesbian you were born that way and it's concrete and nothing you can do or say will say that.
Unless they literally beat or fucked it out of you. Which is just awful btw.
Nowadays, people experimenting with sexuality and labels is far more common.
To see it in characters in a silly little youtube show like Moon, and Lunar makes me really happy.
It tells me "yes you can change your mind. You can be whatever you want to be."
So when I say "I am on the ace spectrum and I ship this"
What I actually mean is:
"They are fictional characters and you are flexible to portray them in any level of ace that you want that you personally identify with. Because they are not real. They can be whatever level of ace you want."
I am allowing every single ace to express Moon at the level of aceness they feel comfortable with. Because he is not real. Where he lies on the spectrum is entirely up to you. Your fanart. Your fanworks.
Now. Did you need all my sexual identity history to know that.
Probably not.
But I had to let this all out here. Because I'm tired.
If this makes me Acephobic by saying that sexuality is flexible and labels can be changed and so can levels of the spectrum with experience.....
Then...
I don't know man.
I'm tired.

hi! so u asked for unpopular opinions about marauders, so here i am, ready to deliever them
james potter was bully. he bullied not only snape but other people, he sexually assaulted snape. "oh, but that's because snape is a nazi!" yes, he is. i am not defending snape, he is an awful person. but james started bullying him, making fun of him, calling him names and stuff, when they were ELEVEN. he literally started making fun of him in the train. they haven't even talked to each other yet. he just overheard some boy in the train telling his friend that he would like to go slytherin and automatically decided to bully this boy. and that is something unforgivable and i hate that some people in this fandom try to portray snape as pure evil, because HE IS A MORALLY GRAY CHARACTER. he did a lot of awful things, he also did some good things, he also is a victim of abuse, of bullying and of sexual assault. and probably there is someone who's going to come to me and tell me that he was never sexually assaulted. well, james potter held him down, and took of his clothes against his will, including underwear, in front of a lot of people. basically he exposed snape's genitals against snape's will. he also tried to choke snape with soap bubbles, he heavily bullied him. his age is not an excuse, being 15 is not an excuse. if it was all really about snape being a nazi then that would be james's explanation for lily when she asked what his problem with snape was. if it was really about how much james hated purebloods supremacists, then he wouldn't focus on snape, but on mulciber and avery and wilkes and people like this. but instead he chose snape, because snape was an easy victim. and because of that: fuck james potter, i never really started to like him, i can only tolerate him in certain fanfiction
i couldn't care less about jegulus. i've read some awesome fanfictions, i've seen a lot of awesome art, but the ship on it's own doesn't really speak to me. it's a worse version of drarry, honestly, and i never was a big fan of drarry. i get with people like it but i'm just really tired of the fact that you cannot find anything about marauders without jegulus
this fandom has a lot of really toxic parts, especially when people talk about liking some rarepairs, there are so many people who attack them and threathen them and stuff. someone shipping james with barty is not a reason to send them death threaths.
also the fact that someone doesn't headcanon james as poc does not make them racist. someone not shipping a lesbian ship doesn't makes them a bad person and a person that hates lesbians. someone. a lot of people in this fandom just get really mad at people for no reason and it really should stop.
i don't really have any opinions on dorlene. i know that it's popular and stuff but i just don't get the hype. i prefer dorlily lilylene marylily and marylene and dormary and all other combinations between these girls, but dorlene... it just doesn't stand out to me that much.
so now it's time for all the rarepairs that i like:
peter x xenophilius
lily x marlene
james x sirius
james x peter
peter x sirius
lily x sybill
mrs zabini x rita
lily x regulus
lily x barty
lily x barty x evan
evan x barty x xenophilius
this fandom really often portrays walburga as the abuser and orion as just... well, just being there and not really caring, or sometimes people just make him a good father, and honestly? it's the 70s. walburga is a woman. orion he is a man. you really think that she is the one in control here? i'm not saying that she is innocent, because she obviously isn't, but he isn't either and it annoys me that it's always "walburga's a+ parenting" and it's always her being abusive, and her being mad, and her being an awful person, and orion, oooh, poor babygirl, he wants to protect his kids from her but she is the one controling everyone in this house because she is in a position of power as a WOMAN IN 70S. nothing against walburga being portrayed as abusive, because she was abusive, but don't make orion innocent
i would love to hear your opinion about all that i said here (but u don't have to obviously it's just a stupid ask you can just answer it with a dot, but if u have time and energy i'd love to hear ur opinions)
maybe i will come up with something else later, if it happens i'll send another ask
(quietly praying that i won't get death threaths over this)
First of all James Potter is my favourite character ever. He is my sweetheart and I kin him. So yeah, for me he is the perfect imperfection. I agree his made some mistakes, but I don’t view him the way you do. I’ve been there in high school, humiliating people that bully other innocent people or even my friends. I’m not proud of it, I’m just saying I know where he comes from. It’s not easy to stop a bully and I felt like putting them down was the only way to protect others, and I think James thought the exact same thing. Again I’m not proud and I don’t know if I’ll do it again.
On that same note. I hate Snape. I think nothing justify bullying an 11 year old. And he wanted to be a death eater. So I always hate him, in fanon and canon.
2. I loooove Jegulus, it’s my fav ship and I would only read something if it has Jegulus. lol. Total opposites. Mmm i think it’s a great love story and i never get tired of reading it. I’ve honestly never been a fan of Drarry but I don’t mind people shipping them.
3. I know! We should all stop that and just spread love and some legs, lol, jk. But seriously guys, everyone has the right to a different opinion and if you don’t like it, just look the other way .
4. This is so true, I actually hc him as Aaron T Johnson jut bc I think he is the perfect James Potter, but of course I’m not racist like at all. I even love the Reiky fancast bc he is part of skam and so bloody perfect.
I also love to mention I love Mary, Dorcas and Kingsley and all the fan art.
5. I honestly looove dorlene but i do hc lilylene bc it seems natural to me, I first saw them tw as the og bffs and I feel like girl friends are meant to fall in love or at least have crushes on each other. At least that always happens to me w mine.
8. THIS I LOVE (send fics pls)
10. This I like very much (and if anyone has fanfics pls send)
18. I mean I don’t know how to view this as a feminist. You know, I like the woman being the powerful one, but hence again, is I misogyny to blame her for everything and call her a bitch just bc she is a woman and let Orion of the hook?
I JUST FIGURE HOW TO RESPON TO THIS, IM SORRY IT TOOK ME FOREVER
AND PLEASEEEEEEE DONT SEND ANY DEATH THREADS ANYBODYS WAY!
THANKS FOR YOR QUESTIONS

In reference to a previous ask you replied to, I'm so glad to find somebody else who thinks Garp is a shitty awful parent. He was so awful to Luffy but I keep seeing people going "oh he was such a good guardian".
I hate that trope in anime where you have a parent who tries to train their kid to be strong, but instead of doing it in any even slightly good way, they just beat and try to murder their kid and then the anime tries to pull the stupid "and the near constant death made me stronger, and that's why I love him." It's like NO, that man abused you and you need help.
(this is why Tekken is so good. Heihachi does the same to Kasuya, but instead of Kasuya loving his dad for dropping him off a cliff, Kasuya almost dies, makes a deal with a devil, spends the entire series waging literal war against Heihachi and trying to kill him)
You know who was a good guardian who actually properly and lovingly trained their child to be stronger? Kyros. The way Soldier-san cared for a trained Rebecca is the absolute peak of the parent-training-their-child trope because he actually did care for Rebecca and trained her to fight but made it clear that he wouldn't hold back in fighting because her opponents wouldn't either. (I'm also not done with Dressrosa yet, but im getting there).
Yeah. I have..... Some issues with Garp. Not as a character because I do love the way he's written and I think he's extremely complex (and also enjoy his scenes because, look, he's hilarious and his bond with Koby and Helmeppo makes me sob). He's just a shitty guardian. And hey, that doesn't mean he doesn't love his kids, but, uh, yeah. Love doesn't always fix everything. You can't "raise" a kid however you want and excuse it with love. Garp isn't a bad, horrible person for the mistakes he made, but he is not a good parent. He should've known better. I think he's facing the consequences of his actions right now in the manga and he did suffer most of them already after Marineford, so I usually don't talk that much about him. The man is tired. Not justifying what he did, but you know, at least he is aware of his mistakes and he is not actively being a horrible person.
The trope you mention bothers me so so much. I have no idea about Tekken but, you know, I get it. I hate when the writing ends up justifying that behavior when it comes to parenting.
Kyros my beloved, btw. I absolutely love him. He did so so good with Rebecca... I hope you enjoy the rest of the arc!!! The pacing is really meh but the amount of Doffy and Law we get (and a very specific Usopp scene that is one of my favorites from the whole show) and the awesome backstories make it worth it. Friendly reminder that right after Dressrosa comes Zou and then Whole Cake Island. And I say this because WCI is my favorite arc and if I don't mention this every time I have the chance I die.

Unprompted Spy Characterization and SpyDad post because I have it on my mind.
TW: Abuse and mental illness
————————————————————
I feel like a lot of people act like Spy left because he's just cruel and awful, or because he was a spy and spies can't have families.
Now I'm aware that this isn't every take on Spy's character, but it seems to be the ones I see most often and the reason that people generally hate Spy as a character (mostly because he's characterized as an unfeeling asshole and a coward) but like, I think its super weird to just boil him down to that?
So hear me out. I think Spy has bipolar disorder, passed down from his dad. I think Spy left because he saw himself turning into his own father. He saw himself going down the road of becoming abusive, and he never wanted to put Scout or Scout's mom through that.
Like, Spy grew up with a dad who abused him most of the time. Always screaming at him no matter what, hitting him for minor mistakes, etc. And he genuinely thought that after he left home, after he started his life over, found love and raised a son, it was all behind him. It was perfect for that one moment, that picture perfect second. Then, one day, when Scout was maybe, two? It was just them in the house, and Scout was crawling/walking around with a drink and spilled a bit of it on Spy's leg. Nothing major by any means, just a slight inconvenience. But something in Spy's mind snapped, and he found himself screaming at Scout, only being snapped out of his spell of anger when Scout started crying.
He realized in that moment that he was just like his dad. That no, he wasn't any different. He had pushed down the mania. He had just been excusing it. His drinking, drugs, and encounters with women weren't just part of the job. It was mania the entire time. The nights he spent locked away, feeling numb and sobbing, weren't normal either. And the spell of anger really made it click in his head. He cried as he comforted Scout, apologizing again and again. That day was the day he knew he had to leave.
I'd like to think his distant behavior and general smugness is a front. It makes it so people don't want to get close to him or even try to get to know him. It's a lot easier that way. He figures he'll keep everyone away forever and never become his dad. So he sits apart from everyone, his guilt eating him alive as punishment for being so awful and leaving his son, who he now sees every day.
————————————————————
I'll be honest, guys. I might be projecting, but anyway! Also, don't worry too much. He'll get the help he needs, eventually :)
I just love making Spydad more nuanced !

♡*♡∞:。.。 Main 4 + Butters Relationship HCs
IMPORTANT: all my characters in my fics are aged up to 19-24. Side note: excuse my poor English.
warnings: none applicable
reader gender: gender neutral
a/n: this is my first tumblr fic, i hope it's enjoyable! :)
Stan Marsh
I see Stan as a bit of a hopeless romantic
But when he does get into a relationship, he either totally lovebombs, or gradually becomes obsessed with you over the years.
He definitely needs reassuring for EVERYTHING (/neu)
"Is it okay that I'm holding your hand? Are my hands too sweaty? I can let go if you want."
But over time he becomes comfortable with you, and knows that if you're ever uncomfortable, you'll tell him right away.
He loves cuddles, so long as it's not in front of his friends, as he doesn't want them teasing you.
Actually a gentleman, will stop to tie your shoes for you.
His ideal date night: Sitting in his or your bedroom and blasting music while drunk.
He'll get up and make you dance with him, the two of you stumbling around in your dunken haze.
You'll both laugh so hard you wind up in tears and on the floor.
Overall, both of you have flaws. For what it's worth, he's a great boyfriend, so long as you help each other try and patch those flaws.
Kyle Brovlofski
He's a lover, this one
Despite the fact that he's rather inexperienced with relationships, he treats you like the royalty you are.
He has many insecurities, but will work overtime to make sure that you yourself love yourself fully.
Speaking of insecurity, he's very jealous.
If you're chatting with someone, and he notices them getting a little too comfortable, he won't hesitate to walk over and hug you from behind, putting his chin on your shoulder, maybe even kissing your cheek if the person is still flirty.
He may not need constant reassurance, but when you two start dating, he'll accidentally avoid you out of fear he'll mess something up.
While Stan may be a gentleman, Kyle is the epitome of the word Chivalry.
He'll force you to stay in the car until he's walked around and opened the car door for you.
His ideal date night: The movie theater! Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned movie date.
He'll accidentally blow a bag on the expensive ass movie theater snacks, but it's worth it for you.
He WILL spoil you.
Eric Cartman
He acts all tough and stuff around his friends, but behind closed doors, he's your babygirl.
Demands kisses and cuddles at all given moments.
In front of his friends, he'll firmly wrap an arm around your waste.
"Yeah, this is my bitch." (More like he's YOUR bitch, but you don't say anything and just go along with it.)
He'll complain, but he secretly loves spoiling you. Maybe because you spoil him too.
He doesn't show his jealousy outright, but if he sees you talking to ANYONE around your ages, he is internally FUMING.
His ideal date night: People watching at a park, making fun of passerbys.
He'll literally make fun of the way he sees someone breathe.
He may be an awful person sometimes, but you even him out slightly, Kyle will say he's gotten soft because of you.
He has, but he'll deny it to the ends of the Earth.
He makes you playlists and gets mad when you don't listen to them as soon as he makes them.
Kenny McCormick
Kenny is an ex-fuckboy. When he realized his crush on you, he quickly dropped all his flings.
He is absolutely smitten with you.
He honestly gets angry that he doesn't get spoil you. He'd give you the world and more if it didn't have a price tag.
That being said: He's a total perv, he hasn't lost his roots completely.
Will make dirty jokes at any given moment just to fluster you, doesn't matter who you're with.
He's 100% okay with PDA. In fact, he initiated it first.
Will straight up make out with you in public any where.
Doesn't talk much when you two are around others, but at night, lying in your bed, you two will have the deepest conversations.
Cried of happiness in your arms the first time he stayed over at your house for the night, because you made him bring over his family's laundry and you did it for free. (You constantly help his family with things they might not have access to, mostly discreetly b/c you don't want them feeling like a charity case.)
His ideal date night: Laying in the grass at midnight and watching the stars, occasionally making out.
He loves everything about you, and will always make that known.
Butters Stotch
He's such a sweetheart.
He loves kisses, but gets really shy everytime you kiss him.
It's rare he ever uses your actual name to address you. He mostly uses pet names like angel, baby, sweetheart, etc.
You knocked that weird misogynist phase out of him and for that he owes you big time.
He's insecure about his scar and prosthetic eye, so you always make it a point to tell him how beautiful he and his eyes are.
To him, you hung the stars in the sky.
He doesn't want to mess things up, so he asks Cartman for advice. Which was a bad idea, because he ends up doing/saying something really stupid and it takes you two days to forgive him.
He makes up for it by apologising 400 times and buying you a basket of candies.
His ideal date night: Either going to the aquarium or the beach, right after eating dinner at a nice restaurant.
He loves to lay on your chest and listen to your heartbeat.
One night, you accidentally drop him off five minutes past his cerfew, and stick up for him when his parents give him a hard time. Because of you, they only grounded him for three days instead of two weeks.

Moonlight Chicken Ep 2 Stray Thoughts
Can you believe we're getting double doses of Aof shows now each week? Yesterday, we were treated to possibly the best opening we've ever had in BL. We have a sense of the dynamics of the restaurant and the way the financial crunch of the pandemic is hurting this town. We know that Uncle Jim is gay, and down to clown with Wen, but only casually. Li Ming doesn't seem happy about his current circumstances, and is now. wrapped up with the deaf son of a local police official. Alan (First Kanaphan) is so notable in his absence that we all were thinking about him. Mark Pakin and Khaotung continue to deliver phenomenal performances from supporting roles.
I'm so curious about Leng coming along with the restaurant.
I love the way Mark moves.
Wen just got here and already is like, "I am persistent."
"Chapter 2: The Temporary Chicken Rice"
I like the vibe Praew is giving off. Curious if this lotto thing is foreshadowing or world building.
Fourth feels so different as Li Ming.
Li Ming has to have thoughts about his uncle's fling suddenly working for them.
Uncle Jim and Li Ming seem to have a tense relationship.
So Heart doesn't have anyone to speak to because his parents haven't learned sign? No wonder he was driven to drinking.
Curious about why Heart took the photo.
Earth being allowed to play older characters is such a sexy move by Aof. He even gets to be funny!
Ah, yes, let's see Leng, Gaipa, and Praew together. These three are so comfortable on film.
I hope Khaotung being in love with either Earth or Mix continues as a bit far into the future. Gaipa is being nice, but he is definitely here to check out the competition.
Fourth joins the ranks of the fit boys we find excuses to strip.
I do like that we're drawing attention to Thai pronouns and how some of them have a familial context. Jim is younger than Li Ming's mom, so I think he would normally use "Ar"
There's a lot seemingly weighing on Li Ming. He clearly seems stressed about affording school in Bangkok, and seemingly has no interest in girls. He also seems to be struggling in his English classes, and seems to project a lot of this onto his uncle.
I think this tv sequence is the first time we've seen Li Ming seemingly relaxed so far.
I figured Praew was going to be pregnant with the eating earlier. Curious that they came to Jim with this problem. Does everyone go to their local gay uncle when they have problems?
Jim is doing such a bad job of keeping Wen at arm's length.
Omg the face journey Mix just took us on when he realized that Li Ming doesn't feel like he can talk to Jim about his desire to travel.
Fourth can smolder. I'm glad he worked with Mix on this show, because you can feel his brewing attraction to Heart.
Mark Pakin just made me cry. When they say acting is reacting, they're talking about Saleng's face dropping in awe when he realized that Jim actually did come through and help him. You could see the relief and thanks wash over him. He thought he was alone with this big situation, but Jim threw him a lifeline.
Wen is clearly fond of this behavior.
"I'm giving you your reward." This feels like something Aof put in from all the BL kids teasing him and always trying to hug him.
"Get serious with someone. Kill your loneliness...I can't stay with you forever you know?" Gosh this felt so gentle and caring.
I like the price of 3000 THB as compensation (roughly $89.33 USD). How you feel about that amount of money says a lot about where you sit.
Jim saw the potential for Wen to be with someone else and instantly retreated.
I like that Aof knew the 1000 stars fans were not going to put up with Mix and Earth making fuck-me eyes at each other all month waiting for payoff. This is much more intriguing.
I kinda hope we don't learn what made Jim give up on love for himself.
Next week we learn about Jim's homophobic sister, confirm that Fourth does the chin thing on his own, and I hope to the gods we see First.

LMAO your Quaritch hate post has a good point, but by that logic it also proves that he is better than his predecessor, since he had no obligation to give a shit about a random boy and yet he did anyway. Human Quaritch likely didn’t even care about Spider, but his clone found it within himself to connect to this kid so strongly that he ends up completely fucking up his mission for his sake. Whether Neytiri would have actually killed Spider or not doesn’t matter because either way Miles didn’t feel like taking that chance and opted to instead possibly fight two enraged Na’vi, which is literally a death wish after the stuff they did to his squad. He’s not good by any means, but human Quaritch would have shot those Tau’nui villagers and give fuck all about Spider’s feelings.
I have a whole list of asks to work through, but I'll bump yours right to the front, you silly little clown.
I don't think they're different characters, first of all. There is no plot or thematic emphasis given to Quaritch being a clone. That is not his point in this media. The point was that James Cameron wanted Stephen Lang back. They are the same character in James Cameron's eyes, the scripts eyes, and thematically. So just getting that out of the way.
I really need you guys to get this: claiming Human Quaritch didn't care about Spider is completely baseless. You have literally no evidence at all for it. It is a claim you all make to continue to separate the two. This claim is a bad faith way to try to make recom Quaritch (still a racist war criminal) look better than the genocidal maniac he was and is. It's really a bad look for you all.
I've said this a million times: not killing the Tau'nui (and the other villages he raided and burned, you do be forgetting those don't you) and not being even worst to abducted war prisoner child Spider ARE NOT GOOD THINGS. So if the war prisoner wasn't Spider he would've been worse to any other child? If Spider wasn't there he would've killed the villagers? Not good! Jesus Christ, if I kick a puppy and then you criticize me for it and I say well I didn't KILL the puppy??? That is a logical fallacy, my king. Saying things could have been worse doesn't make the awful things magically not as bad or not occur??
Finally, "after what [Jake and Neytiri] did to his squad," yeah idk I'm pretty sure the recoms would've been a okay if they didn't, idk, kidnap all those children and torch all those villages and also attack them. Stop sending me messages all artfully phrased trying to make Quartich seem like a victim. It's really stupid. It's not noble for Quaritch to "put himself in danger" by dropping his knife, he literally put himself in that situation a million times over.
You can't argue for what human Quaritch would have done to make Recom Quaritch look better, because you literally don't know. So don't bother. Like your villains and make whatever content you want, but when you start defending him and his actions and painting him as sympathetic and excusable, you are defending! Racism! Imperialism! Genocide! and war crimes!

Hello this is out of nowhere but I found myself suddenly musing on Prowl and responsibility. You're a very good Prowl thinker, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on how he takes or doesn't take responsibility (or blame) for things.
This is an interesting question! It's one of those questions where I'm inclined to answer it with a bit of meshing of interpretations of the character that 'disagree' with each other, regardless of authorial intent, because between writers and series I think that gets a bit... messy. But that makes welding it together fun. So! Prowl and responsibility, let's go, completely free of the thought 'did any of the writers intend this?'
I think he's a character who has circumstances in which he takes on an inflated sense of responsibility, and circumstances in which he overly abdicates responsibility, without much in between. Which is the kind of thinking that real people do all the time but can come across in fiction as paradoxical I think, haha. On the one hand Prowl tends to assume he is the one person on which everything hinges and if he doesn't do something, it won't get done- more to the point, if he doesn't do something, it won't get done and there will be consequences. A lot of that comes from arrogance, because he thinks of himself as fundamentally more competent than the majority of people around him. And a lot of that translates into trying to control what other people do (often by controlling what they can do), so any influence sits with him first and foremost. And finally, a lot of it involves him feeling like he's the only one who will do what needs to be done when the thing is something he doesn't want to do. Which ties into the whole 'overblown sense of taking responsibility' thing a lot, because it feeds into a complex of: here is a thing that people will find excuses not to do because it's awful and they don't want to. If I don't do it, noone will. It makes him miserable, but it also gives him an inflated sense of importance. We have all either known someone like this or been that person at one point, to a less exaggerated degree, I think. The person who thinks that something being unpleasant means it's their sole duty to take it on... aaaand so also, everyone else shouldn't criticize them because look at what they've done for everyone! (And never mind that nobody asked and that maybe nobody had to force themselves to do the shitty thing they hate for the sake of doing it.)
And then on the flip side, there are things that he just. Will not take responsibility for period. And those are usually things where if he did so, it would contradict his self image too much, so they have to be made external. Sins of the Wreckers is one long ironic reversal of the 'Prowl has his fingers in every pie and does it all behind the scenes' narrative; in Sins, and generally in Roche's work in fact, Prowl allows himself a kind of emotional distance from things he is very much responsible for by... adding a few degrees of separation in. He doesn't kill Mesothulas; he tells Impactor to deal with the lab. He has him thrown in the noisemaze. Realistically, this is in no way anything but Prowl's murder attempt. But he can create a degree of plausible deniability. Not to anyone else- nobody else is supposed to know- but more to himself. Or another example is when any time Optimus in exRiD goes against what Prowl wants or disagrees with him, he always shows that he thinks that this is Optimus not understanding, and any fallout from Prowl going behind his back is, therefore, Optimus' fault. Even when Prowl's ideas are absolutely what caused the issue. When there's a hypothetical scenario he can imagine where he would have been backed up, Prowl says: well if you'd backed me up my plan would have worked, so this is the fault of everyone who just doesn't get it. Not mine.
(I'm trying to remember if the moment in exRiD where he's annoyed that Arcee won't play along with his 'well of course you tried to arrest the Decepticons you attacked first' nonsense is before Bombshell... I thiiiink it is? There's an example of Arcee puncturing his defenses, which she does a lot. She's like. lol shut up. I killed them like you asked. It's not quite the same- he's trying to get her cover story straight more than anything- but it feels a little like he finds her bluntness... uncomfortable. Even if he knows it's a lie, he still prefers, well. The lie.)
It would be pretty easy to gloss this dichotomy as 'Prowl takes responsibility when it gives him something or works for him, disowns it whenever something goes wrong', but I don't think that's... quite right. A little underbaked. Prowl takes responsibility when it puts him in a position where it justifies what he does on a wider scale, whether or not it goes well for him necessarily. And when that justification starts to look flimsy and the threat looms that he might be wrong on a fundamental level, that's when he starts to insist it's someone else's fault. Like grit in the machine, and if you took the grit out, of course it would work perfectly. Other people are the convenient grit when the machine is breaking down. (Going back to Sins: the single biggest 'this is not my fault' he pulls in all of canon is, IMO, the blatant lie that Mesothulas was 'influencing' him to be worse somehow. His personal justifications for his behaviour started to crack when he killed a bunch of civilians in cold blood and immediately realised that was completely unjustifiable, but he can't take responsibility without admitting his approach is the issue, and therefore without not just taking responsibility for this, but for all his actions in the war to date that were just... wrongheaded. So he goes 'no. this isn't my approach making me act this way. it's Mesothulas', even though it's ridiculously obvious that if anything, Prowl has been at least enabling Mesothulas to be worse. As he says, he wouldn't have started making bombs without Prowl's 'for the greater good in war' perspective.)
So you get this kind of slippery character who will insist everything is directly his responsibility one minute, even when he's miserable about it, and then turn around the next and say: no, no, none of this is my fault. If it reinforces his belief that his way is the only way and therefore anything he does can be justified, it's his responsibility. Even the bad stuff, or the stuff that will land him in trouble. If it challenges that belief, it's no longer his fault but just external influences that need removing, smoothing away, fixing. We haven't spoken about MTMTE Prowl as written by Roberts yet, but I think he shows a lot of this in the Overlord arc. It goes against his self-perception to think that how he acts or what he's doing puts Chromedome off agreeing to work with him in itself. That he finds Prowl repugnant now, in a way he didn't used to. So he gets pissy at Rewind, acting like he's getting in the way. You get the impression that Prowl is the sort to think Rewind is clearly the issue here and if he can just get Chromedome alone, things will go fine. (The irony, of course, being that he did, but doesn't remember it because of just how badly that went.)
Prowl has set himself up in a very precarious psychological trap by staking his entire sense of self on something which, if knocked over by a stiff breeze, would basically ruin every single thing he does or has done for the past few million years. His belief that his ends always justified his means. If he takes responsibility for anything that contradicts that, every single one of his decisions loses its place in his weird moral calculus and becomes a candidate for something not worth it that he cannot fix. And if he doesn't take responsibility for all the shit that he thinks needs doing but hates, then every awful decision he's made to the present becomes pointless, because if he can't end what he started there's no ends to justify the means. He can't stop or else it falls down. (See: him not wanting the war to be over despite hating it because it didn't end on the terms he was working toward.)
And I think that's how you marry the Prowl we see in stuff like Wreckers, whose stock in trade is gliding on through without it touching him and insisting there was always someone or something else to blame, with Prowl in exRiD, who takes way, way too much responsibility for everything.
tl;dr god i would also punch this guy if i met him jesus christ

Hi, first of all, thanks to take all the promts, you are doing a great work with the ideas and the characters!!
Second, since you have Robin as your profile picture, can you do Robin prompts pls?
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like what I've been making 😊🧡 I'd be happy to do some prompts for Robin, she's my favourite Penacony character and I'm definitely pulling for her in the next Star Rail patch :33 Anyways, thank you so much for the request, I hope you like these <33
Robin
✦ I still like the idea of Halovians being allergic to feathers, so like Sunday, the feathers on Robin's wings make her sneeze too. ✦ Since she's pretty much everywhere performing, there's a possibility that she would encounter something she's allergic to whether that be a certain flower or a perfume.
✦ I think she'd be good at holding back her sneezes, however, if she can't hold back anymore- she would just turn to the side (or away from whoever's talking to her) and cover her sneeze, clearing her throat and excusing herself immediately afterwards. ✦ She doesn't get sick very often, but when she does- it would be because of overwork, or perhaps she caught something from her travels, or maybe she didn't dress appropriately for a concert somewhere cold. ✦ However, the degree of her illnesses varies. Sometimes, it knocks her off her feet and she can't help but take a sick day but other times, it's manageable and she can walk around and do her dailies.
✦ I feel like Robin would take care of her voice as much as possible, so if possible- she'd refrain from performing or recording, or doing fan meets while ill, believing that her fans only deserve the best from her and she'd feel awful if one of her fans caught whatever she's got.
✦ Very polite about illness. For example, if she was to meet someone while ill, she'd apologize for it by saying "I apologize if I can't shake your hand right now. I have a bit of a cold" ✦ Anyways, a prompt I had in mind for her is Robin getting her make up done and it's either because the make up brush is so fluffy or it had too much powder on it, but whatever case it is- it's making her nose itch and she has too hold back, not wanting to sneeze on the make up artist. ✦ Another prompt I had in mind is Robin receiving a lot of gifts from her fans and one of them making her sneeze a bunch, she doesn't know which it is, but she has to figure out what it is soon since she has a meeting with an important person and doesn't want to embarass herself. ✦ The last prompt I had in mind is Robin trying to work through an illness since a deadline is coming up. She tries recording, but isn't satisfied so she tries again and again and again... After multiple failed attempts, she decides to just rest.

Hi! I'm the anon who asked about Moirane and Siuan and I'm crying so much, I never expected you would be so incredibly awesome and kind with your reply. I was honestly shocked by it and I literally have no words to thank you for all the time and effort that must have taken. I was expecting a short and simple "They interact two more times and never see each other again" or something like that at most but you went so far with it and it seriously means the world to me. I also absolutely loved your funny comments, you had me laughing in many parts.
And yeah, that's actually why I couldn't find anything explicit about what happened to them, I didn't exactly know what to look for, their wiki pages barely mention their relationship to each other outside of New Spring and I've seen some tumblr posts but they're not specific. Some mentioned Moiraine dying, Siaun dying, them never speaking again but implying it ended on bad terms or that they just never cared about each other again after their last meeting so I was just getting more and more confused, that's why you even including moments when they thought about each other even after believing the other was death meant everything to me.
And you were right, learning more about it made me happy because of the knowledge and because of the affirmation that even after everything they still thought about each other and how this entire series basically started because of them (which makes it worse that they didn't have a proper culmination regarding that) but it also made me so sad and even more mad.
One of the things that surprised the most was what happened to Siaun, I've read many fans say that while they don't care about Thom that much, they do love Garrett and his relationship with Siaun so imagine my surprise when I read that he was an old man infatuated with his "almost teenage slave". How can anyine love that? There is no context or excuse that would make that entire relationship better in my eyes, I'm so shocked. And the way she changed I just can't believe it. Of course so far my take of Siaun comes from Sophie's interpretation so I can't, in no way, imagine that woman that I met in episode 6 behaving like you just described. It's so absolutely awful and wrong, he created an entire different character and said it was Siaun! I'm absolutely shocked.
And Moiraine's story got no better either. I knew she and Siaun weren't really gonna have a happy ending, definitely not together, but I had NO IDEA the Lan/Moiraine beautiful platonic relationship would also be ruined. Again, I just know them from what I've seen on the show so I can't even begin to comprehend a world were Moiraine is believed dead for a long time, then comes back and her and Lan don't try to at least fix their relationship. I know the Warder thing is complicated but I always liked to believed that their love for each other was more than just the bond, that they really loved and cared about each other as friends, so I'm really sad about that just being destroyed.
I'm really sad that Siuan had the opposite of character growth for the most part and then had an awful ending that wasn't even an important part of the story and that Moiraine ended without the people she loved the most, with a guy that didn't respect her. That was also shocking, I can't believe the Moiraine I got to know would not only marry a man intimidated or threatened by her power but that she would tell him she would renounce her power for him. I just can't imagine that ever coming out of her mouth. I know she changed and suffered and stuff but it doesn't make sense.
I'm not from the USA and finding the books is a bit hard here but I found a way to buy New Spring online so I got that one and I will definitely read it! The little bits you wrote about it had me squealing and hugging my pillow because of the cuteness and gayness and just knowing that it focuses on my two best girls and Lan made me instantly get it. I will just try and pretend their ending was different though lol I know fans of book series hate changes, I get that in a way but hopefully some things do change in the show because I'm just no ready to accept some of the things I just read.
I know the story was never about Moiraine and Siuan, but knowing that they were meant to know each other, all thins that they accomplished together, both of them hearing that prophecy and starting this mission together, basically the whole plot of the book, for that to not have a real ending. Just using them to start the engine but then not having a good resolution about it? And I don't even mean a happy ending, but something!
There are so many more things I could say and I have so many opinions about this and I'm still in awe that you took the time to do this but I'm not gonna make this longer than it needs to be and bore you even more, you already did too much for me and I will absolutely treasure everything you wrote and I will save it so I can read it many more times.
Thank you so much for everything, I hope you have the nicest of days!
Spoilers for the entire Wheel of Time book series
You're quite welcome. I hope you enjoy New Spring! However, I feel dutybound to warn you that there's triggering content in the book.
(TW for grooming: In New Spring, Lan has interactions with a woman who basically groomed him when he was a child. The narrative tries to pass it off as a Malkieri cultural thing, but. It. Is. Grooming. So go in forewarned.)
I've read many fans say that while they don't care about Thom that much, they do love Garrett and his relationship with Siaun so imagine my surprise when I read that he was an old man infatuated with his "almost teenage slave". How can anyine love that?
(I hate defending Gareth Bryne but i feel honourbound to clarify: he only thinks Siuan is ~18 when he begins to chase her down. When he finds her and realizes who she really is - the deposed Amyrlin - he realizes she's 42 years old, and is still utterly infatuated with her, so it becomes un-creepy at that point. Again, I HATE having to defend this man but he's meeting the very low bar here.)
I presume it's easier for some people to find Gareth/Siuan romantic than Thom/Moiraine because if you're not thinking too hard about it, the barebones of Gareth/Siuan fits certain romantic tropes that were popular in the 90s and early 2000s (a highly decorated lord/general falling in love with a commonborn fisherman's daughter when she's lost all her power, a highly ambitious woman finding that what she actually values is romantic love above all else, the whole servant-master dynamic, etc). Everyone can ship whatever they want, but I will never see eye-to-eye with people who find it romantic, and I personally want to beat Gareth Bryne to death with my bare hands for what his introduction into the narrative does to Siuan's arc and personality.
Tumblr media
Of course so far my take of Siaun comes from Sophie's interpretation
IMO Sophie is a perfect Siuan, I really can't see anyone else in that role anymore and I feel like she really gets across the complex and seemingly contradictory facets that make up Siuan's personality in the books perfectly - and she's why I hate Siuan's character deterioration in the later books even more now than before I watched the show, because imagine Sophie!Siuan putting up with any of that, LMAO.
but I had NO IDEA the Lan/Moiraine beautiful platonic relationship would also be ruined
Yeah. Sorry. i don't have even snippets to comfort with you here but the good news is the show most likely won't treat their relationship as something to be discarded by the wayside. IIRC, Rafe Judkins - the WoT showrunner - got a huge binder from amazon of fans' opinions on what they want improved from the books to the show, and one of those was fans asking for a proper resolution/interactions for them. so like. have hope.
Enjoy New Spring!
