The Great Hall, Edinburgh Castle.
I read about our history almost every day, someti,es wee snippets, other times more in depth historical articles, in the main I take bits and pieces from all these to build the history posts that you see, keeping the majority short enough to keep your interest, longwinded posts can be a bit daunting, I leave it up to the readers if I have interested you enough to get you wanting more, hence sometimes I post a link with more info.
Yesterday I unearthed a pic of Edbrgh Castle's Great Hall and searched for others picking up a few things about the castle, as a tourist attraction, along the way. The pics date from 1895 an 1896, the first two, then 1913, and up to how it looks now.
In 1818 Walter Scott helped rediscover the Honours of Scotland, our Crown Jewels, it was after this that visitors were first allowed inside the castle to visit. In 1919 the first ordinary folk were invited to see the crown jewels, it would cost you One Shilling, and the only way to get a ticket was to write to Robert Cameron, Stationers at Number 2 Bank Street. At this point they set a limit on the num,ber of visitors, only 150 a day were graned admittance! At this point in time, visitors were only allowed to visit the Crown Room to view the Scottish Regalia. The rest of the castle remained off-limits. Why? Because the rest of the castle was still an occupied military base.
Slowly through the years more and more was accesable to the public, one being St Margaret's Chapel, which up until 1845 was bit of a mystery. The earliest surviving building on the Castle Rock, tmay have been built by David I in memory of his mother, canonised as St Margaret in 1250.
The building was much altered during use as a magazine and munitions store from 16th-19th centuries. In 1845 the Chapel (then a storehouse at the W end of the 18th century garrison chapel) was rediscovered as such by the antiquarian Daniel Wilson. Surrounding buildings, including the garrison chapel, were demolished, and a simple restoration carried out. The stained glass was added iuntil n 1922 by Douglas Strachan.
In 1861 a feature was added that to this very day is a massive draw for tourists. The One O’Clock Gun had arrived! Initially the Time Ball had been set up on Calton Hill in 1852. This would drop at 1pm so the sailors in the Port of Leith to set their chronometers in order to navigate accurately at sea. As Edinburgh is not known for its fantastic weather, an audio signal was added in 1861 so sailors could hear the time signal if not see it.
During the victorian era there were major resorations, part of these included attempts to make it look more medieval, the Great Hall, where I started this wee hunt on facts, was restored in 1891, but for some reason there was a fallout with the Army and he refused to hand over the keys. It was eventually opened in October of 1892.
Remember all these buildings, up until the public access being allowed were used by the garrison stationed in the castle.
The last visitor figures avaible were from 2022 when 1,356,168 visited the castle, this was down from the prepandemic numbers of over 2 million, equating to around 10 thousand per day, not all the numbers are available but I did find out that one day in November 2020 during the pandemic there were only 148 visitors to the castle.
To this day the Crown Jewels are still the most popular attractions, nowadays there are queues, not only to get in there, but right down the esplanade to get in the castle itself. One thing that really annoys me is that you can't get close to the building, just to take pics of the statues of Wallace and King Robert without having tickets, or applied for entry into the building.....

“The Secret of Slaughter Swamp" Writer: J. Torres Artist: Scott Jeralds Color Artist: Carrie Strachan Letterer: Saida Temofonte Review by Lauren Fiske I'm so happy that this series is back! The first issue of this third season was excellent, with lots of promise. The Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries #3.2 has some quality moments, but, sadly, doesn't quite live up to the same standard as the previous installment. Let's discuss why. There are some mild spoilers ahead, so read at your own discretion! In the Middle It's rare for an issue to leave me with almost no opinion, but this issue is one of the most 'meh' that I've reviewed. Mystery Inc. ends up in the legendary Slaughter Swamp... and this place is weird! There are some moments of intrigue and mystery (paranormal tourism? Very odd), but overall, the stakes are so low that the story ends up feeling dull. Is there some quicksand? Sure, but Batman saves the kids within the space of a few panels. Solomon Grundy makes an appearance as a spooky zombie, but he barely makes an impression and seems not to be a threat, at least based on the misguided reactions of the tourists. That's out of character. Even the mystery of who's responsible for the haunting in the Swamp is alluded to from the very beginning. The downside of this is that there's no chance for the reader to do their own sleuthing as to who the culprit is. There's only one possible choice, and Velma reveals who, almost right off the bat. Because of this, the story simply feels lackluster and predictable. [gallery columns="6" size="large" ids="188130,188131,188132,188133,188134,188129"] As for the art, I don't love it. I usually enjoy Scott Jeralds' output (some of my very high ratings relate to his work), but my lowest review of this series features his art. This issue seems to have some issues with anatomy, in terms of faces and limbs. Additionally, some figures appear to be stretched in odd ways and the designs of several characters don't have consistency from page to page. Carrie Strachan's coloring was also irregular, which contributed to my opinion of the art overall. Things weren't all bad, though! Several characters have some great one-liners, there are secret tunnels in the swamp itself, and Batman and Velma finally recognize how much they have in common. They even fist bump as Daphne and Fred jokingly suggest that Velma become the next Robin (could you imagine?) Conclusion Overall, I've missed this series, but The Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries #3.2 didn't reach the standard I've come to expect. A simple story, basic art, and some light humor aren't solid ground for this excellent series. The rest of the volume will likely vary in quality as well, but let's hope that future issues will deliver an upswing in caliber. How did you feel about this issue? Did it meet your expectations? What are you anticipating for the rest of this volume? Comment below! Images Courtesy of DC Entertainment (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

WTF Scotland?
The independent LGBTI association representing police in Scotland is fundraising for a youth charity which recently referred itself to police over allegations of child sexual exploitation.
LGBT Youth Scotland, formerly the Stonewall Youth Project, is known as Scotland’s national charity for “LGBTI young people.” The charity referred itself to Police Scotland after Reduxx reported on historic abuses alleged by two former youth members.
Sam Cowie, a university student from Glasgow, described his experience with LGBT Youth Scotland to Reduxx in December of 2022. He stated that he first became involved with the charity in 2010 at the age of 15.
“At first I thought it was great. There was a diverse group of young people involved. Colorful people and people who were unapologetically themselves. It was eye-opening and a lot to take in. The staff were friendly and nurturing,” Cowie said in December.
“I really didn’t realize I was being groomed until a much later date. It started with being given cigarettes. It later progressed to being taken for drinks and given alcohol. I was given a [fake] ID by a member of staff to gain entry into adult venues. I was given things that were considered special,” Cowie explains. “A staff member also made me show him my torso in the bathroom.”
Cowie recounts being taken by charity staff to gay clubs in Edinburgh while he was underage. He was exposed to a much older group of men who began offering the vulnerable teen money in exchange for sex.
“I was plied with alcohol free of charge, encouraged to sleep with older men and given money to perform sexual acts,” Cowie had told Reduxx.
Cowie cut ties with the charity at 17 and, now an adult, he is speaking out about his experience and demanding answers. Specifically, Cowie has been pursuing answers as to why a safeguarding investigation was not carried out into the organization after their former Chief Executive Officer, James Rennie, was convicted of organizing Scotland’s “largest pedophile network” in 2009, just one year before Cowie became involved with the charity.
James Rennie became Chief Executive Officer of LGBT Youth Scotland in 2003. In 2007, his pedophile ring was uncovered following a lengthy operation by Lothian and Borders police.
As well as collecting thousands of images and videos of child sexual abuse, Rennie also sexually abused his own infant godson over a four-year period. The abuse started when the child was just 3 months old. Rennie had also used the e-mail handle “kplover,” (kiddie porn lover) to communicate with another pedophile who described how he would like to rape, torture, and murder a child.
While soliciting child sexual abuse materials, Rennie once sent an email specifically requesting material featuring “young Down’s syndrome or learning difficulty kids.”
Rennie’s accomplice and fellow ringleader, Neil Strachan, had also sexually abused an infant boy, attempting to sodomize him while being HIV positive.
Tumblr media
Cowie first spoke out against LGBT Youth Scotland on social media. His tweet inspired another survivor to come forward, and both of the young men spoke to Reduxx on their experiences with the charity. Daniel Nechtan became involved with the organization while Rennie was still CEO when he was just 13 or 14 years of age.
“Although I was young, many people involved in this charity were in their twenties and thirties, and, as far as I can tell, there was no safeguarding or anything. In fact, it seemed more like a social network to connect older men with [often vulnerable] teenagers.”
Nechtan told Reduxx that charity staff had encouraged him to use “gay chatrooms” where he met a 24 year-old man pretending to be a 16 year-old boy. He describes how the older man became his “boyfriend”. Nechtan explained that through his older “boyfriend” and the older men he were met through the charity, he was encouraged to accept payment in exchange for sexual acts. He also explained how he met Rennie and Strachan through the charity, the leaders of Scotland’s “largest pedophile ring.”
Nechtan explained how they would buy him drink and drugs as a teen. Rennie and Strachan would give him alcohol in exchange for sexual contact. On one occasion, Strachan allegedly instructed Nechtan, who was then aged 17, to have sex with a 16 year old boy in front of him. Despite Nechtan’s experience, LGBT Youth Scotland claimed at the time of Rennie’s arrest that no youth members of the organization had been impacted by his predation.
Following the Reduxx exclusive in December of 2022, LGBT Youth Scotland released a statement on their website addressing the allegations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“LGBT Youth Scotland are aware of allegations of historic exploitation made by individuals who used our services in the past. LGBT Youth Scotland takes any complaints and allegations seriously and we have reported these allegations to Police Scotland and will support them fully with any investigation.”
Speaking to Reduxx on behalf of LGBT Youth Scotland, Holyrood Public Relations provided the Police Scotland reference number associated with the investigation and confirming that they had in fact referred the allegations to police. But Police Scotland has repeatedly refused to provide concrete details on the nature of the investigation despite multiple requests.
Despite an ostensibly open police investigation involving the charity and calls for them to be investigated by the UK charity commission for alleged child abuses, Scottish LGBTI Police Association announced on February 24 that they were crowdfunding on behalf of LGBT Youth Scotland.
In the description of their crowdfunder, the Scottish LGBTI Police Association wrote that LGBT Youth Scotland creates “safe spaces” for “LGBTI young people aged 13-25.” The Association is an independent membership group for police officers and policing staff in Scotland. They are officially recognized by the Scottish Government, Scottish Police Authority, Police Scotland and UK-wide police forces including British Transport Police, Ministry of Defence Police and Civil Nuclear Constabulary.
The Scottish LGBTI Police Association shared their fundraiser on Twitter but were met with backlash from twitter users who pointed out the on-going investigation into the charity.
Tumblr media
The Scottish women’s rights organisation, For Women Scotland, responded to the Scottish LGBTI Police association saying: “Aren’t the police supposed to be investigating this organization? Do @PoliceScotland make a habit of raising money for groups under investigation for child grooming and abuse?”
Survivor Sam Cowie also spoke out against the association on twitter calling the fundraiser “an absolute kick in the teeth,” and said he felt the move would send the wrong message to other alleged victims of LGBTYS who might be considering coming forward.
“Police Scotland are raising funds for the charity that groomed me and others. The same Police Scotland that aren’t doing anything to help me. The same Police Scotland that investigated former CEO paedophile of this charity and said his crimes weren’t connected to his role,” Cowie wrote on Twitter.
Tumblr media
Scottish LGBTI Police Association have since put their Twitter account on private, but the crowdfunding page is still active.
The fundraiser was part of Purple Friday, a campaign organized by LGBT Youth Scotland to encourage people to show support for “LGBTI young people” by donating to their charity. However, the charity has only raised £1,612 on this year’s Purple Friday, their largest fundraising drive, despite having a target of £25,000.
On their official TikTok, the Scottish LGBTI Police Association made a music video about their efforts.
Tumblr media
The funds are purportedly being used to fund LGBT Youth Scotland services and resources. As well as offering youth groups for children as young as 13, the charity provides information packages for public education, such as one created for school teachers to use on “international pronoun day.”
Tumblr media
Other resources offered by the charity include a detailed sex guide for girls as young as 13 which includes information about anal sex, sex toys, oral sex and masturbation.
Tumblr media
LGBT Youth Scotland also manages a scheme for employers and schools. They award businesses their “LGBT Charter” if they complete their program which involves training and a review of policies and procedures.
The Edinburgh division of the Scottish police signed up to the LGBT Youth Scotland’s LGBT Charter in 2021.
In addition to the police, the Children and Young People’s Commissioner of Scotland is also directing young people to use LGBT Youth Scotland’s services while the investigation into the organization’s potential misconduct ongoing.
By Shay Woulahan Shay is a writer and social media content creator for Reduxx. She is a proud lesbian activist and feminist who lives in Northern Ireland with her partner and their four-legged, fluffy friends.

Deranged, Destitute, and Dishonest Dementia Dummy donnie j. dump Doesn't Get To Be The Republican Presidential Nominee Anymore…Mwahahahahahahahahaa!!! A March 18, 2024 Update For All Political Debate Lovers! Part 2/17
"When I first took office, I did something different. I traveled to the Del Rio sector of Texas, where I spoke to a woman who shared her story with me. She had been sex trafficked by the cartels starting at age 12. She told me not just that she was raped every day, but how many times a day she was raped. The cartels put her on a mattress in a shoebox of a room, and they sent men through that door, over and over again, for hours and hours on end. We wouldn’t be OK with this happening in a third-world country. This is the United States of America, and it’s past time we start acting like it." - Alabama Senator Katie Britt SOTU response (from her kitchen)
Tumblr media
Abortion in Alabama is illegal with no exceptions for cases of rape or incest, only allowing abortions if there was a serious health risk to the mother. Alabama law requires judges to terminate the parental rights of people convicted of first-degree rape and certain other sex crimes, but that rapist still gets the satisfaction of reproducing themselves in a baby that has the genetic coding to potentially become another rapist or other form of psychopathic, sociopathic habitual offender.

On March 1, 1974, a grand jury in Washington, D.C., indicted several former aides of Nixon, who became known as the "Watergate Seven"—H. R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, John N. Mitchell, Charles Colson, Gordon C. Strachan, Robert Mardian, and Kenneth Parkinson—for conspiring to hinder the Watergate investigation. The grand jury secretly named Nixon as an unindicted co-conspirator. The special prosecutor dissuaded them from an indictment of Nixon, arguing that a president can be indicted only after he leaves office. John Dean, Jeb Stuart Magruder, and other figures had already pleaded guilty. On April 5, 1974, Dwight Chapin, the former Nixon appointments secretary, was convicted of lying to the grand jury. Two days later, the same grand jury indicted Ed Reinecke, the Republican Lieutenant Governor of California, on three charges of perjury before the Senate committee. Nixon's position was becoming increasingly precarious. On February 6, 1974, the House of Representatives approved H.Res. 803 giving the Judiciary Committee authority to investigate impeachment of the President. On July 27, 1974, the House Judiciary Committee voted 27-to-11 to recommend the first article of impeachment against the president: obstruction of justice. The Committee recommended the second article, abuse of power, on July 29, 1974. The next day, on July 30, 1974, the Committee recommended the third article: contempt of Congress. On August 20, 1974, the House authorized the printing of the Committee report H. Rep. 93–1305, which included the text of the resolution impeaching Nixon and set forth articles of impeachment against him. Faced with the inevitability of his impeachment and removal from office and with public opinion having turned decisively against him, Nixon decided to resign. In a nationally televised address from the Oval Office on the evening of August 8, 1974, the president said, in part: "In all the decisions I have made in my public life, I have always tried to do what was best for the Nation. In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to justify continuing that effort. …the interest of the Nation must always come before any personal considerations. From the discussions I have had with Congressional and other leaders, I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this office in the way the interests of the Nation would require. …as President, I must put the interest of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad. To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great issues of peace abroad and prosperity without inflation at home. Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Vice President Ford will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office." (Wikipedia)

Women in Nazi Germany were subject to doctrines of Nazism by the Nazi Party (NSDAP), which promoted exclusion of women from the political and academic life of Germany as well as its executive body and executive committees. The Nazi regime officially encouraged and pressured women to fill the roles of mother and wife only. Women were excluded from all other positions of responsibility. The ideal woman in Nazi Germany did not have a career outside her home. Instead, she was a good wife (however her husband defined that), a careful and conscientious mother (taking special care to raise her children in accordance with Nazi philosophies and ideals), and skilled at doing all domestic chores such as cleaning and cooking. Women had a limited right to training of any kind; such training usually revolved around domestic tasks. Adolf Hitler's attaining power as Chancellor marked the end of numerous women's rights, even though Hitler had succeeded in his social rise in part thanks to the protection of influential women and female voters. Hitler's socializing within affluent circles, and with socialites such as Princess Elsa Bruckmann, wife of the editor Hugo Bruckmann, and Helene Bechstein, wife of industrialist Edwin Bechstein, early on brought the Nazi party significant new sources of financing. For example, Gertrud von Seidlitz, a widow of a noble family, donated 30,000 marks to the party in 1923; and Helene Bechstein, who had an estate on the Obersalzberg, facilitated Hitler's acquisition of the property Wachenfeld.

In regards to the role played by women voters in Hitler's rise to power, Helen Boak notes that the "NSDAP had been gaining proportionately more support from women than from men from 1928 onwards, not because of any concerted effort on its part nor because of its leader's charisma nor because of one specific element of its propaganda. Women chose to vote NSDAP for the same reasons men voted for the party - out of self-interest, out of a belief that the party best represented their own idea of what German society should be, even if they may have disagreed with the party's stand on individual issues.

The larger increase in the share of women's votes than in that of men's votes cast for the NSDAP from 1928 owes much to the party's growing prominence and respectability, as the party's dynamism, the contrast of its young leadership with the elder statesmen of the other parties, its growing strength, the disintegration of the liberal and local, conservative parties and the general disillusionment and dissatisfaction with what the [Weimar] Republic had brought or failed to bring all contributed to the reasons why German men and women turned to the NSDAP…Because of the preponderance of women in the electorate, the NSDAP received more votes from women than from men in some areas before 1932 and throughout the Reich in 1932. Claims that Hitler and his party held no attraction from women voters and that the NSDAP benefitted little from female suffrage cannot, therefore, be maintained.

Historian Wendy Lower makes it clear that while "Women were not a majority of those who voted for Hitler…In the presidential election of March 1932…26.5% [of German women voted] for Hitler. In the 1931 September elections, 3 million women voted for NSDAP candidates, almost half of the total of 6.5 million votes cast for the NSDAP." In terms of voting patterns however, a higher proportion of male voters supported the Nazi party compared to female voters. In 1935, during a speech to the National-Socialist Women's Congress, Hitler declared, with regard to women's rights: in reality, the granting of so-called equal rights to women, as demanded by Marxism, does not confer equal rights at all, but constitutes the deprivation of rights, since they draw women into a zone where they can only be inferior. It places women in situations where they cannot strengthen their position with regard to men and with society – but it only weakens them.

The fact that Hitler was unmarried and that he represented a masculine ideal for many Germans led to his erotisation in the public imagination. In April 1923, an article appeared in the Münchener Post stating "women adore Hitler "; he was described as adapting his speeches to "the tastes of women who, since the beginning, count among his most fervent admirers". Women were also sometimes instrumental in bringing their husbands into the Nazi political fold, thus contributing to the recruitment of new NSDAP members. In a society that was beginning to consider women as men's equals, Nazi policies constituted a setback, forcing women from political life. The Nazis' policies pertaining to women were one aspect of their efforts to stem what they viewed as the decadence of the Weimar Republic. In their eyes, the Weimar regime, which they perceived as having a Jewish character, in effect appeared as feminized, as well as tolerant of homosexuality – the veritable antithesis of German virility.

The Nazi woman was an important part of Adolf Hitler's vision of German society (the Volksgemeinschaft) and should mirror its ideals: racially pure and physically robust. She should not work outside of the home, and should be devoted to motherhood, following the slogan of the former emperor William II of Germany: Kinder, Küche, Kirche, meaning "Children, kitchen, church". In a document published in 1934, The Nine Commandments of the Workers' Struggle, Hermann Goering bluntly summarizes the future role of German women: "Take a pot, a dustpan and a broom and marry a man". These ideals were embodied in various Nazi institutions such as the bride schools of the Deutsches Frauenwerk, aimed primarily at prospective brides of SS and Nazi Party members, and the Faith and Beauty Society for women aged 17 to 21. This was anti-feminism in the sense that the Nazis considered political rights granted to women (access to high-level positions for example) as incompatible with the nature of reproduction, the only role within which they could blossom and best serve the interests of the nation.

If a German girl must choose between marriage or a career, she will always be encouraged to marry, because that is what is best for a woman". These ideals differed to the conservative and patriarchal norms that had prevailed during the Second Reich, in that rather than being sidelined in society, women were expected to participate at a foundational level in the roles of mother and spouse. Mothers were encouraged to have children, and the "Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter" (in English: Cross of Honour of the German Mother) was created for mothers having more than four children. A "German Mothers' Day" was also created, and in 1939, three million mothers were decorated on that day.[36] Concerning abortion, access to services was quickly prohibited, and in 1935, the medical profession became obliged to report stillbirths to the Regional Office for State Health, who would further investigate the loss of a child. In 1943 the ministers of the Interior and Justice enacted the law "Protection of Marriage, Family and Motherhood", which made provisions for the death penalty for mothers convicted of infanticide. Rape and Rape-Related Pregnancy: By the Numbers
Almost 3 million women in the U.S. experienced RRP during their lifetime. The prevalence of RRP was similar across racial and ethnic groups (i.e., Hispanic, White non-Hispanic, Black non-Hispanic, and other non-Hispanic). About 18 million women have experienced vaginal rape in their lifetime. Women who were raped by a current or former intimate partner were more likely to report RRP (26%) compared to those raped by an acquaintance (5.2%) or a stranger (6.9%). Of women who were raped by an intimate partner, 30% experienced a form of reproductive coercion by the same partner. Specifically, about 20% reported that their partner had tried to get them pregnant when they did not want to or tried to stop them from using birth control. About 23% reported their partner refused to use a condom. Women raped by an intimate partner who reported RRP were significantly more likely to have experienced reproductive coercion compared to women who were raped by an intimate partner but did not become pregnant. Rape-related pregnancy (RRP) is a public health problem where sexual violence results in pregnancy. Definitions Rape is a type of sexual violence (SV) and is defined as forced or alcohol/drug-facilitated anal, oral, or vaginal penetration. Rape-related pregnancy (RRP) includes pregnancy that a rape victim attributed to rape. Reproductive coercion is a form of intimate partner violence (IPV) that involves exerting power and control over reproduction through interference with contraception use and pregnancy pressure. These data come from the first study in over 20 years to offer a nationally representative prevalence estimate of RRP of U.S. women by any perpetrator and the first ever to provide these estimates by race and ethnicity. The findings add to the understanding of the relationship between SV and intimate partner violence (IPV) and reproductive health among U.S. women. https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/sexualviolence/understanding-RRP-inUS.html

How Parental Rights for Rapists Vary By State According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, estimates show there are between 17,000 and 32,000 rape-related pregnancies in the country every year. Currently in the United States, there is no overarching law that dictates what rights rapists have over children conceived from their attacks. The laws differ by states, falling into four general categories, according to the country’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, RAINN. Exactly half of the states in the country require a criminal conviction for the rapist’s parental rights to be severed. Many of these 25 states require the conviction be made specifically for a certain sexual offense or degree of assault that led to the conception of the particular child. Exceptions do occur in several states. Alabama, which previously protected rapists’ rights like Minnesota, just revised their laws with a new statute called Jessi’s Law, which went into effect in September 2019 and applies to cases of conviction of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and incest. In Arkansas, rights are severed immediately upon conviction with no option to petition, while in Delaware, criminal sentencing is required to rid of a rapist’s parental rights or else rebuttable presumption can be overcome. In Nebraska, conviction must occur in the first degree for victims 14 or younger or in the second degree for victims 12 or younger and in New Hampshire, a conviction or a fact-finding hearing with proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the act led to the child’s conception can also count. Over in New Jersey, there is rebuttable presumption that perpetrators shouldn’t be given rights or visitation but that can be overturned if it’s in the best interest of the child, as shown with clear and convincing evidence. New York also creates a rebuttable presumption but applies only to rape in the first or second degree, sexual misconduct against a child in the first degree or a predatory sexual assault against a child. The only state in the nation where rapists retain parental rights is Minnesota. While efforts have been made to change the law, as of December 2019, it remains the sole state without any ability to cut ties off altogether. https://www.mylifetime.com/movies/you-cant-take-my-daughter/articles/how-parental-rights-for-rapists-vary-by-state
