I really hate myself for this comparison now, but when Soldier Boy said about how he waited all the years for Scarlet to come and save him from there... I compared this time with Dean's 40 years in Hell, when he also waited, but no one came. Then Castiel came to save Dean for making him a weapon in the hands of the angels. Here Butcher and the others came to make Soldier Boy a weapon against Homelander. This comparison destroyed me.

Dead I Am The Dog

Dean had long lost track of the days, hours, minutes that had gone by while he was strung up on Alistair’s rack. The torture sessions bled together into one long continuous sensation of pain. Even when he ‘healed’ it hurt. It was maddening, and the fact that he’d started to black out during Alistair’s visits didn’t help. 

“You’re staring to look worn out there Winchester,” Alistair had remarked at one point, carving his face like a pumpkin. Dean couldn’t respond without his eyes or mouth, but that didn’t matter much to the demon. “At this rate, you won’t last another ten years. All you have to do is say yes boy, and it’ll all stop.”

He refused, giving a weak thrash. “Well, there’s always the spare I suppose..” Alistair muttered, voice fading as he presumably left.

That sentence fueled his resolve. He wouldn’t let them get Sam. They couldn’t have him, nobody could, not as long as he was conscious. 

“WINCHESTER!”

Right. Alistair was crucifying him currently. How long was he out? Even the demon seemed vaguely concerned. Dean glared at him, or at least, tried to. He couldn’t move. Come to think of it, he couldn’t feel anything either. From his current vantage point, it seemed like he was on the cross. But he couldn’t feel the nails. He couldn’t feel anything, not even pain! If he could’ve he’d have been grinning.

He was so happy he didn’t even notice his vision darkening of Alistair fleeing the scene.
