You know what I find funny? I hardly listen to the rap music today because how it can be “too much” for me. Like way too explicit for me to be comfortable with. Don’t care for the instruments and how catchy it would be. If it’s too much, it’s too much.
And then such rappers would collaborate into film albums, performing songs in representation to the film itself. And there, I’m listening to them more as artists, doing their own thing still but focus on the theme for the song they’re creating instead of clashing.
It’s like, it’s the moment when you realize that even though they are constant on a certain idea in their music doesn’t mean they wouldn’t try new things that can actually work for them.
Rappers are the artists that should be more universal 🎵🎤

Opinion #007: Shrek soundtrack is just as good as the Guardians of the Galaxy one.
I’m very controversial rn, but it’s actually amazing and deserves more likes. That shit SLAPS. It’s crazy how well placed everything is like seriously. I love the Shrek films to an absurd amount, ask anybody I know. But as a music lover, I am obsessed with the Shrek soundtrack. Everything is just so well placed and impact your emotions and the character development and they also help build an emotional setting. All Star by Smash mouth was an instant hit because of Shrek, but these other songs deserve to be recognised too.
some hits I recommend are I’m a Believer by the Monkees, Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright, livin La Vida loca by Ricky Martin, Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows, funky town by somebody I actually don’t know, I’m on my way by the Proclaimers, IMMIGRANT SONG by led zep, Barracuda by Fergie and so many more. JUST CHECK IT OUT!!

M*A*S*H UP
The album cover of M*A*S*H Original Soundtrack Recording proudly announces, “One of America’s funniest bloody films—also one of its bloodiest funny films” (Time magazine). Nowadays Robert Altman’s 1970 black comedy is perhaps most famous for being the inspiration for one of television’s finest and most beloved series, yet the film itself was well received at the time, its style becoming an Altman…

Lecture 19: Here is one of Bruce Springsteen’s most memorable and haunting hits from the 1990s, “Streets of Philadelphia,” from the soundtrack to Jonathan Demme’s 1993 film Philadelphia. Note that Springsteen is actually singing the song as he walks, which is the version of his vocals used in the video. He used his home studio in New Jersey to record the “Streets of Philadelphia,” which is where he made his acclaimed Nebraska album. The song won the Academy Award in 1994 for Best Original Song.

Though I've never found his scores for Jordan Peele films that memorable (with the exception of 'Pas De Deux' from 'Us'), Michael Abels is damn good at writing one really foreboding track to play over the titles. If you like horror soundtracks, do yourself a favour and listen to 'Sikiliza Kwa Wahenga', 'Anthem' and 'The Muybridge Clip'

Exploring Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Unique Playlist: From “Chakku Chakku Vathic Kuchi” to “Karu Karupaayi”
Lokesh Kanagaraj, the acclaimed director known for his distinct cinematic style, has been making waves not just with his films but also with his carefully curated soundtracks. Influenced by Hollywood, particularly Quentin Tarantino, Kanagaraj has a knack for juxtaposing songs in unexpected situations, much like the renowned filmmaker.
Tumblr media
One of the standout features of Kanagaraj’s films is his revival of forgotten Tamil songs. In his latest venture, “Vikram” (2022), he reintroduced the song “Chakku Chakku Vathic Kuchi” from the 1995 Tamil sci-fi film “Asuran” as the background score, garnering over 9.4 million streams on YouTube. This trend continues in his other films, with tracks like “Karu Karupaayi” from “Eazhaiyin Sirippil” and AR Rahman’s “Jumbalakka” in “Kaithi.”
On YouTube, there are numerous playlists dedicated to Kanagaraj’s musical choices, showcasing the resonance these songs have with audiences. What sets these songs apart is their appeal to both nostalgic 90s kids and contemporary listeners. By selecting tracks that are not widely known but evoke a sense of familiarity, Kanagaraj creates a unique auditory experience for his viewers.
These songs also represent a pivotal era in Tamil cinema, characterized by the infusion of new sounds and electronic instruments, thanks to composers like AR Rahman. This blend of traditional Tamil music with contemporary elements reflects Kanagaraj’s cinematic approach, which draws inspiration from Hollywood while retaining its Indian essence.
Whether Kanagaraj meticulously selects these songs or simply follows his personal preferences, they undoubtedly mirror his cinematic vision. As we eagerly await his upcoming film “Thalaivar 171,” one can’t help but wonder what musical surprises he has in store for us next.

Hi, can you please analyze the lyrics of born to be wild by steepenwolf
Sorry I just noticed this now. 😅
First of all, thanks for appreciating my analysis on the 1969 film "Easy Rider." 👍
@hurry1-blog (I hope I tagged the right tumblr account here!) Also you mean Steppenwolf an American-Canadian rock band that was prominent from 1968-1972.
(Lol btw autocorrect wants to edit it to "Stephen Wolf".)
They are named after Hermann Hesse's novel "Steppenwolf" and there's also a DC Comics Supervillain called Steppenwolf who was created by the writer-artist Jack Kirby as well.
Anyway, onto the song interpretation!
Well no offence but honestly, it's pretty easy to figure out from the lyrics what the song is about which in my humble opinion is... Wanting to be free and wild as in uncaged and unchained (like nature is) to society's rules and expectations for us. Pretty much a "Sticking it to the Man" type of anthem and the mention of "love" fits in with the whole hippie counterculture belief system also.
Also from genius.com:
Mars Bonfire, who wrote the song, explains:
I was walking down Hollywood Boulevard one day and saw a poster in a window saying ‘Born to Ride’ with a picture of a motorcycle erupting out of the earth like a volcano with all this fire around it.
Around this time I had just purchased my first car, a little secondhand Ford Falcon. So all this came together lyrically: the idea of the motorcycle coming out along with the freedom and joy I felt in having my first car and being able to drive myself around whenever I wanted.
‘Born To Be Wild’ didn’t stand out initially. Even the publishers at Leeds Music didn’t take it as the first or second song I gave them. They got it only because I signed as a staff writer. Luckily, it stood out for Steppenwolf. It’s like a fluke rather than an achievement, though.

ON A MISSION FROM GOD
When they first wrote and performed comedy sketches on the US television show Saturday Night Live, it is unlikely that John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd had any inkling their alter egos—“Juliet” Jake Blues and his brother Elwood—would take on a life of their own. With crumpled thrift-store suits, ever-present sunglasses and a briefcase of harmonicas handcuffed to Elwood’s wrist, The Blues Brothers…
