Thoughts on Nightbringer (minor spoilers)
Description: What it says on the tin.
TW: None. Minors DNI.
Thoughts on game mechanics:
- Ruri Tunes is so much fun! And I'm loving the remixes of all the characters' songs.
- The difficulty spikes after lesson 4. I went from getting S-ranks to D's in the span of a single lesson. :(
- The hardest part of the game is leveling up cards/drawing the right cards in nightmare. Nightbringer makes me wish I had my old cards from the base game.
- The backgrounds, enemies, etc. are nods to the anime/past events (like Beel's carrot curry and the masked bats). Which is super cute!
-Extreme mode is INSANE.
- It's far easier to get devil points. In daily rewards, you can earn up to twenty points per day.
Lore!
- The game takes place a year after the celestial war ends. The brothers have been under house arrest staying with Diavolo while the HoL was reconstructed.
- The brothers are constantly surprised by Beel's appetite. Which tells me that their sins have been slowly infecting them over the past year.
- Solomon fought off the entire devildom at once??? AND WON???
- Finally, we have more of Luke's backstory! Apparently he was born sometime after the celestial war ended and Nightbringer begins. He could be anywhere from a year to literally like a month old lol.
- Barbatos hates Solomon for some reason. Their conversations are comedy gold. Solomon "can't" remember why his friend hates him because his memories from this time are "foggy." (I call bs)
- Guess who makes the first pact in the game? It's not you - it's Solomon. He forges a pact with Asmo when you're stuck in the maze under Diavolo's castle...which effectively rewrites how the two originally made a pact! Two lessons later, he warns you not to mess with the timeline. Pick a lane.
- Nightbringer (let's be honest, it's Barbatos) is the name of the person who brought us to the devildom. Imo, the name is stupid and Barbatos should never be allowed to name anything, ever.
- We met biblical Adam and he was in hell. For some reason.
Misc. Notes:
- The brothers are kinder to the MC than season one of the base game. I can't tell if it's because they're still acting like angels or because the MC is masquerading as their demonic attendant.
- Seriously I'm at lesson 9 and no one has threatened to kill me yet.
- Ah, cold and distant Lucifer my beloved.  How I've missed you. 😌
- Mammon is a simp in all universes and across all timelines for the MC. I love that for them.
- Leviathan has always been like that™️
- Asmo misses the celestial realm so much he modeled his room after it.
- Belphegor doesn't seem to hate humans as much? I keep expecting him to lesson 16 me at any second.
- MC lied to Diavolo's face, forgetting that one of his cannon powers is that he can detect lies. Guys why are we so stupid. 😔
And that's it! I may come back to update this list once I've finished lesson 10

Tumblr media
That was lunch, made quick-and-simple * but dressed up nicely for its photo-op.
* Very quick-and-simple; it was based on a packet of just-add-water oxtail soup, because there are some days when I Could Not Be Arsed, even a simple tomato soup that’s just a couple of tins of tomatoes, an onion, some garlic, some peeling, some chopping, some oil, some seasoning, some cooking, some blending...
Yeah. Enuff said.
However, that didn’t stop me from a few grab-and-chuck-in enhancements - and once I’d announced that, @dduane said: ”Write it up for your followers, and take pictures.”
So...
The enhancements were some orzo and a splash of red wine vinegar from the cupboard, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, cayenne (it’s cold today) and ground caraway from the spice drawer, and some frozen red and green sweet pepper from the freezer.
(Side-note - I slice and freeze my own peppers on cookie sheets, then bag ‘em; also onions and carrots, i.e. the sort of thing I’d take from the freezer, weigh frost and all then throw straight into a pot when making soup or stew. Casual approach? You bet... :-> I’ve never done a price comparison, but I bet it works out cheaper-by-weight than buying them that way.)
So I made the soup as per instructions - add water, stir until boiling, heat down and simmer 5 mins - adding everything else at the beginning and extending the simmer to 15 minutes because of the orzo and peppers.
Then it went into a bowl, got garnished with a dollop of plain yogurt and another grind of chilli, and behold:
Tumblr media
Soup even with pasta in it works better with bread, and it just so happens we’ve been baking interesting loaves recently.
So, some First Draft and Second Draft herb bread went into a bowl and onto a plate - these, like the cutlery, are mostly meant as photo props - and behold:
Tumblr media
For something which started as little more than flour, salt and flavourings, that soup turned out remarkably well; warming, filling and tasty.
As for the bread, the 2-D herb loaf is just as good as the 1-D, but more herby since DD doubled the amount of herbs while reducing the variety. It’s possible for too many different herbs to argue with each other and end up cancelling out the very effect you’re hoping for, something I suspect happened with the 1-D loaf.
Tumblr media
2-D loaf used just basil, tarragon and an “Italian Seasoning” (bought as a packet, put in a jar, so no ingredients list, sorry!) which seems to rely on oregano.
Also, confession time, I wrote in the 1-D recipe that DD was using pumpkin-seed oil (since ETA’d to correct); she actually used olive oil since she couldn’t find the pumpkin-seed oil because someone (cough) had put it away without saying where.
The 2-D bread did have pumpkin-seed oil, which affected both the colour and - wow! it’s nice - the flavour. This now makes us both wonder about using walnut, hazelnut and similar unusual oils in an otherwise basic bread recipe, such as the one I bake every couple of days for the house.
Something ELSE to experiment with. :->

Hello hello, sharing a bit of food post as promised the other day :)
I made squash noodles! Yes, I was inspired by tiktok, Food use inspiration can be shared and come from anywhere :) this was my first time making noodles of any kind and I'm glad I tried it out!
I used acorn squash and delicata squash. I washed, halved and gutted them. Saving the seeds for a snack for us this time.
Tumblr media
Baked them at 350-375 *f for about an hour. I like using a roasting pan and cook a few extra at a time to save heat and supplies. I also like to bake some potatoes to cook for breakfast the next day.
Tumblr media
Cooked up and scooped out into containers for various meals for the week. The shells I set aside for compost/chicken feed.
Tumblr media
Mixed some scoops of both squash w/ flour. I didn't measure but I did add quite a bit more flour throughout. Mix it well till the dough is no longer sticky and is fairly smooth. It may take awhile, if you have a stand mixer I'd suggest using it to protect your wrists.
Tumblr media
Smooth enough for me. I let the dough rest a few hours before cooking so the flour could get more springy. I don't think it's necessary but I just didn't have time to cook immediately and like how it came out.
Tumblr media
Used scissors to snip them into peices and dropped straight into boiling salted water.
Tumblr media
What they looked like after boiling. I tried one right after and it's a bit bitter. Definatly wouldn't suggest eating as is (though I can't say all squash pasta will be so! Could jsut be that I used delicata/acorn squash)
To finish off I used green enchilada sauce, some salt, pepper, garlic and cumin. Mixed w/ the pasta and some shredded pork and let it reduce a bit. Plated and topped with a sprinkle of cheese and a lil more Chile sauce.
Tumblr media
Came out very good, even the most skeptic veggie eater of the house enjoyed it and asked if we could have it again sometime! :D
Was it good? Yes.
Would we eat again? Also yes!
Personal food idea/suggestion w/for these noodles?
Maybe a carrot soup broth w/ coconut cream or heavy cream would be good w/ the noodles.
Chicken noodle soup would be tasty too, just cook the noodle in the chicken stock to take advantage of the startchyness of the flour for thickener. Lil more black pepper. Garlic and use pumpkin or a bit more sweet squash for the squash puree.
Now on to the seeds, I prepared them similarly to pumpkin seeds.
Wash well, let dry and then use a bit of oil, seasoning of choice and cook 375-400* f till crispy on both sides.
Tumblr media
Much smaller seeds. But equally tasty as pumpkin seeds, I kinda burnt these ones a lil bit, I got distracted with tidying the kitchen a bit.
Well that's it for now :)
🌱 🎃 Happy Homesteading, gardening and good cooking! 🎃 🌱

“small / cuts” (kinda like a sequel to “bruised / kissed”) (from this prompt list again. i had my friend pick this time!) edit: this is also on ao3 now! :D pairing: jimmy / tango cw: kisses, very mildly suggestive(?), one little wound, knives also, fun fact: i found “kitchen song” by tessa violet right after i wrote this. so, if you’re interested, that song is definitely associated with this now, and rather fitting! give it a listen. :) i don’t know how much justice i did for the prompt, as i mostly had ideas for the second word rather than the first. so, do with that what you will, but i hope you enjoy nonetheless! ~ Jimmy is.. okay at cooking. He’d never properly learned how to make the fancier things, and he was often prone to burning things that he had no experience with. Usually, you could tell it was the first time he was making something if it came out with a thin layer of black across the top, steaming. Bonus points if it got a weak thumbs up from Tango across the table, muttering something like “It gives it flavor” through a full mouth, chewing quickly and scrambling to swallow before he can really taste it. Jimmy knows this. So does Tango. Neither seem to let it get in the way. The one thing Jimmy is good at is prep work. He’ll cut fresh vegetables from their garden all day, using their array of knives to cut carrots or celery, all the results of a good harvest depending on the season. Despite never being the most dexterous person out there, he seemed to have an odd talent in it, all along enjoying it. He sweeps the pieces of a sliced carrot from the cutting board and into a shiny porcelain bowl next to him. They plop in with a clink , joining the small pile he’d just begun working on a few minutes ago. Jimmy hums a soft tune, accompanying the quiet, rapid click of the knife slicing through and knocking against the wooden board beneath his hands while he continues to prepare for dinner.  It’s just as he swipes another one into the bowl that the door swings open.
He glances over at the expected company. Tango closes the door behind him with a big heave of air, then crouching down and working on undoing his laces. “You know, I expected fixing the gate latches with the cows inside the pen would be a little challenging,” he says, standing up and stepping out of his boots, “But never did I think they’d be so keen on knocking me over every chance they got.” He walks over right away, leaning up and kissing Jimmy’s cheek. “They just like your company,” Jimmy says with a chuckle, eyes going back to his work, though he smiles goofily at the affection, “They hardly ever get to play with you.”  “Play…” Tango considers the suggestion, snorting, “Sure, hon.” Jimmy allows the arm around his waist as Tango leans against him, watching him cut. The warm man smells like fresh grass and dirt, surprisingly missing a more unpleasant scent that Jimmy fully expected. Not that he’d notice anyway, with how often he was out in the cowpens himself.  “Hungry?” Jimmy asks.  “Mhmm,” Tango hums in response, dirt-smudged face practically inhaling the fabric of Jimmy’s shirt sleeve as he’s face first into it.  “It might be a little while, I got a bit of a late start. You’ve got time to clean up ‘n things if you’d like.”  There’s brief silence. Tango moves off and places his hands on the edge of the counter. Jimmy spots him watching, and is about to ask what he’s staring at as he pauses his cutting. “You should let me help,” Tango suddenly says, immediately reaching for the knife in Jimmy’s hand. He yanks it away instinctively. It glints in the lantern light as he does, pulling it off to the other side of them and out of reach. Tango pouts, and Jimmy’s laughing. “Well, I don’t suggest trying to steal my knife! Bad start,” Jimmy tries to scold through the giggles. “I know what I’m doing,” Tango says, looking almost offended as he does little grabby hands in front of him, “Let me do this while you work on other stuff!” “Tango, darling, I have a handle on it. You’ve been workin’ outside all day. It wouldn’t be very fair,” Jimmy says, “And if this is some attempt at getting me not to burn-” “No, no! Really, I wanna help. It’d be fun. Please?” Tango asks, all smiles and a voice full of something sickly sweet. It makes Jimmy’s stomach whirl, seeing him so keen on them cooking together. He can’t say no to Tango generally, and he certainly won’t be able to at this moment either. Jimmy sighs, a little dramatically for effect, and holds out the knife handle-first to Tango. “That would be fun. Here. You cut the carrots, I’ll get the table set.” The excited smile on Tango’s face is reminiscent of a child’s, pointed teeth on display in a happy manner. He gently takes the knife from Jimmy and gets to work. Jimmy knows he’s fully capable, so he moves around to the other side of Tango and swings open the top cabinet. The knocking against the cutting board while Tango cuts is slow at first, awkward and funny to Jimmy’s ears. He’s pulling down two plates and reaching for a cup when he gets a look at Tango, who seems to know what he’s doing, but it’s a little funny to watch him—a man who works directly with inventions and tiny machines and things of the like—cut the most wonky carrot slices Jimmy’s ever seen. Despite the comedic effect of it, his chest swells with that sensation of love. It’s adorable, Jimmy thinks. “Is your back feeling better?” Tango casually asks as Jimmy passes behind him, walking over to the small wooden dining table tucked into the corner.
“Yeah.” Jimmy nods, setting the things down, “Much better compared to last week. I think the bruising’s clearin’ up too.”
The memory of that evening slips back in briefly, making those very nerves in his back come to life while his breath seems to hitch for just a second before releasing. It’s barely noticeable, but it’s obvious that the memory will forever be tinged with the chills.
“That’s great. Try not to go falling off any more ladders, huh? Can’t have my pretty bird getting hurt again.”
The words and endearing term flitter out of his mouth with apparent ease, and Jimmy’s getting a little warm at pretty bird when his mind continues to wander.
He notices Tango’s dense focus on the task at hand, and raises an eyebrow to himself. After setting one of the plates by his own chair, he makes an effort to be nonchalant as he approaches. Slowly, stalking, a playful nature coming about him in a wave. Hands tingling with some sense of anticipation and a sneaky revenge plot in his head, Jimmy slowly snakes his arms around Tango’s waist from behind. “I should be almooooost… hi, what are you doing?” Tango starts to say something, but his voice gets a little squeaky. “Nothing. Observin’ your work,'' Jimmy says, leaning his chin down and resting it on Tango’s shoulder, “Keep going, don’t mind me.” He peeks over, looking down at the carrots. Tango’s shoulders tense beneath Jimmy’s chin, especially when his back is gently pulled against Jimmy’s torso and leaving no space between them. With a closer proximity now, Jimmy’s brushed with the scent of him again. Grass and the faintest scent of smoke is a different kind of combo, but he can’t say he minds. It makes him think of summer camp, of nights in the forest, evoking senses and memories but mostly whelming him with that ever-present association of love. “Oh.. Right,” Tango says, sounding a little like he’s convincing himself, before returning to a very slow chop..chop... of the carrot. He audibly gulps. “A-And what’s the verdict?” “Hmm..” Jimmy hums curiously, trying his best not to laugh at the reaction he’s caused. He moves his mouth up, placing a big kiss on Tango’s cheek. “They’re a little small. Maybe bigger pieces, or else they’ll just dissolve in the pot,” he adds, voice low. Jimmy can feel Tango shudder,  a little nervous laugh bubbling out of his mouth. Jimmy’s lips remain on his skin longer when he kisses him again, lingering in what he knows is a torturous manner. He can feel Tango lightly squirm in his embrace, hands playing with the hem of the loose work t-shirt. “What are you doinnng?” Tango asks again, a little more insistently, that chopping now stuttering and nearly stopped, though a surprising amount of focus for someone who Jimmy knows to be so easily distracted. “I’m just watching. Gotta make sure you’re meeting.. carrot criteria..’n things..” Jimmy insists again, words floating as his mind goes a little fuzzy and his mouth finds the warm spot just below Tango’s jaw. He was good at teasing Tango, sure, but it didn’t go without its consequences. Just as it got a rise out of his partner, it got one out of him. “Mhmm. I have a feeling this is more of that payback you mentioned,” Tango hums with a rasp that can only mean satisfaction, “And I hope you know I am not falling for- Ah!” Tango lets out a sudden hiss, the sound of something clattering onto the counter as he jolts. The inherent need to get Tango as far away from the danger as possible—whatever that may be in the moment—takes over Jimmy as he instinctively pulls him back, arms tight around his waist. Tango stumbles back with him, the knife still wiggling on the counter with the movement. Jimmy releases him slowly, and Tango turns to face him with a tightly knit brow. He holds up his hand, pointing his pointer finger out. Just below Tango’s claw, and just visible with the red-stained skin, is a little bleeding cut. Nothing major, the knife barely having dipped in enough to make it bleed. It drips a little, and while it does unsettle Jimmy, that rising panic seems to die off. “Ouch..” Tango groans, not so much in pain, but just out of reaction. “Oh goodness.. Just a cut..” Jimmy breathes in relief. “It’s okay, I’ll go grab a bandage and get back to- Hey-!” Tango says, words getting caught up as his wrist is grabbed. Jimmy raises the injured finger to his mouth, and lightly places it between his lips. As he does, Tango’s pupils visibly blow up, consuming most of the space in his eyes. Jim gently sucks some of the blood away, that iron taste attacking his taste buds for just a second before he releases Tango’s wrist and lets the wounded extremity fall from his mouth. The moment is quick, but Tango seems to lag in processing. He’s silent, mouth hanging open in utter shock. Jimmy’s tongue swipes across his bottom lip, wiping away just a speck of blood that stuck around. He wonders how sick it is for him to be so entertained by the whole thing. “What the..” Tango starts to say, voice crackling. If he wasn’t overwhelmed a moment ago, he definitely was now. “Just to stop the bleeding for a second. I’ll go get a bandage for you,” Jimmy says with a genuine smile, but a slight, playful chuckle. “Oh no you will not,” Tango says, catching Jimmy’s shirt just as he steps back, yanking him in. “But your cut, Firefly-” “There’s no way you’re pulling a cute little stunt like that and thinking you’re getting away with it,” Tango says with sarcastic, wheezy laughter, “You big.. silly.. carrot..” Tango growls with the last words, silly as they might be, which makes Jimmy’s eyes go wide as a new energy seems to enter the arena. “And what about dinner?” Jimmy asks, curious but grinning wide. “Later.” is all Jimmy can process before he’s pulled into a long kiss.

Additional Tags: kidfic, fluff, insecurities, idk what othe tags to add, beta'd by the Author, Stella Goodtimes
Languages: English

Summary: Mumbo's insecure about the fact that he's not Stella's biological father
Author's notes: Still new to writing, whatdya think?
Mumbo was currently feeding Stella, but she was not cooperating, pushing away the spoon he was guiding towards her mouth. "No Stella, you have to eat this," Stella made a look of disgust at the spoon, before flailing her arms, accidentally knocking the spoon out of Mumbo's hands.
Mumbo sighed, meanwhile, Stella started giggling and babbling at this. "Welp, let's try this again," Mumbo took another spoon and scooped some of the food in her bowl, "Here comes the aeroplane," Mumbo once again guided the spoon to her mouth, and this time, she opened her mouth, eating the food he gave her.
While he was feeding her, a voice talked in his mind. "Why are you taking care of her?" It asked. "She's not even your daughter". Mumbo ignored that thought and finished feeding Stella. Once he was done, he grabbed the spoons and bowl and placed them in the sink. After wiping the mess on Stella, getting a giggle out of her, he lifted her out of her highchair and carried her to her room.
Entering the room, he placed her on the ground, her already crawling around and picking up a few toys to play with. At the doorway, Mumbo smiled at her before closing the door, checking the baby cam on his phone before looking at the time, it read 5:15 pm.
"Huh, I guess I should start on dinner, maybe some steak with roasted veggies on the side, extra veggies for me," Mumbo thought. He then went into the pantry to get some ingredients, potatoes, carrots, onions...
As he was grabbing the ingredients, Mumbo's thoughts wandered off to the voice in his head. Logically he shouldn't be hearing it out but while he was preparing the vegetables, it called to him.
"Why should you take care of that kid, it's not even your child," It said,
"But she is my child," Mumbo replied
"But your not even her dad, you're just someone her parents keep to take care of her,"
"I am not!" Mumbo said out loud, before blushing and looking around making sure no one heard him.
The voice kept pestering him. The voice tells him that she'll stop calling him dad once she finds out he's not related to her, even saying that she'll hate him once she finds out.
All of this is going on as he lays the chopped veggies on a few baking trays, seasoning them and putting them in the oven. Going to the stovetop, he set a pan and added some butter, thyme and minced onion before laying down one of the now-defrosted steaks.
At least with having to pay attention to the steaks, he didn't have to hear his thoughts for a while. The first steak was for Grian, he cooked it rare as Grian liked it while the other was cooked medium rare, for Scar's palate. Mumbo meanwhile doesn't really eat meat, as ironic that was given that he's a vampire. While he's fine with drinking blood, he's not too keen on eating meat. (except maybe his husb-)
He quickly checked the baby cam, seeing as Stella's fine he continued what he was previously doing. As he was finishing Scar's steak, he heard the doorbell ring, a set of keys jingling before the door opened. "We're home!" Mumbo heard Scar call out. He can hear them taking off their shoes, Grian going up the stairs, while Scar walked towards the kitchen.
Mumbo quickly placed the steaks on their plates, grabbing a pair of oven mitts and grabbed the trays of vegetables out of the oven. Scar then came into the kitchen.
"Ooh, what's cooking?"
Scar asked while Mumbo was scooping the vegetables into the plates, placing extra in his, he answers Scar,
"Oh, just some steak and roasted vegetables,"
"Sounds delicious" Scar replied.
Grian came down from upstairs, seeming to have changed into some sweats and his red jumper.
"Oh I'm starving, can we eat now?"
Grian asked. Mumbo chuckled, placing down the plates on the dinner table, "Of course!" Mumbo said as he placed gave them a knife and fork. Scar sat beside him and Mumbo sat opposite of Scar, the three of them digging into the meal.
While they were eating, Grian noticed that Mumbo seemed a bit anxious about something, wanting to know what was making him feel that way, he asked,
"So, Mumbo, you seem a bit uneasy, what's wrong?".
Mumbo was about to put a piece of potato in his mouth before he stopped after he heard Grian's question.
"Uhh" Mumbo looked at the clock, it telling that it was 6:50 pm "Oh, it's almost time for Stella to have dinner, I-I'll bring her here in just a moment, I'll be right back," Mumbo said before quickly going to her room.
Grian looked at Mumbo run past him, before he turned towards Scar, him noticing the eyes on him before looking up. "Can you go ask him what's wrong please?" Grian asked Scar, him placing the utensils on his plate before getting up towards Stella's room. Grian sighed, appetite now lost, before also deciding to silently follow Scar.
Mumbo was currently with Stella, sitting next to her, watching her play. While he did say he was going to bring her to the kitchen, he's actually just wanting to hide from answering Grian's question, not wanting to do it now.
He then heard a knock on the door before Scar entered. Stella, noticing Scar, started crawling towards him, babbling nonsense. Scar picked her up into his arms.
"See, that kid doesn't even want to be with you, she just wants to be with her actual parents" Mumbo frowned at that, and looked away from Scar. Scar noticed his shift in demeanour, "Mumbo, what's wrong?"
Mumbo, no longer able to hold what's bothering him much longer, then told him everything, that he's been having intrusive thoughts about him not being Stella's father because they're both not related, that she'll hate him once she finds out, and that they're just using him as her caretaker.
Grian was just outside of Stella's room, eavesdropping on the conversation. At that, he went into the room,
"Mumbo, we're not using you, and you're also still her father, even if you both aren't related.
Mumbo was about to reply when Stella started to make grabby hands at Mumbo, babbling something. Scar lowered her to the ground as she crawled towards Mumbo.
"Ma-bo"
"I think she's trying to say her first words!" said Mumbo
"Mam-bo"
"Mumbo?"
"Mam-bo!"
"Mumbo!"
Stella giggled
"Her first word was Mumbo!" Mumbo said, excitedly.
"Welp, Looks like we know who's gonna be the favourite" Grian said, in mock dismay
"Aww not fair!" Scar said, in mock upset.
"See Mumbo, ya don't have to worry about her hating you, she's already taken a liking to you," Grian said,
"I guess you're right," said Mumbo.

OC Recipe tag
Okay friends, this idea just came to me, so let's play a game!
Rules: share a recipe your OC would make, either one passed down to them or one they found all by themselves. Bonus if you have an actual recipe to link! Some OCs can't cook to save their lives, but let's talk about the ones who can! :D
I'll go first--Thresh from Stars and Ships is often the crew's cook. He grew up as an orphan in a government program (bad news, if you haven't already gotten that vibe), but after escaping, he made his way to a relatively abandoned planet where he lived in the warm desert, and taught himself to cook with online recipes. One of his favorites is pork fried rice, something his mother might've made for him as a kid, if he'd had a mother. And it's super easy to make enough to feed the whole crew! There are never many leftovers, for some reason 🤨
Tumblr media
I couldn't find any recipes online that fit, so I'll try to write out my own. :) Sorry to say I don't have precise measurements as I was taught without them!
Cook however much rice you'd usually use for the correct number of people. I use 3 cups.
In a wok or large frying pan, with olive vegetable oil, fry a bunch of chopped vegetables till cooked and remove. Some options I regularly use are carrots, zucchini, bok choi, or kale.
Beat and fry the eggs till cooked. For 3 cups rice you'll want roughly 7-8 eggs.
Add cooked rice, chopped ham/shrimp/meat of choice, chopped green onions. Add the veggies back in and stir together.
Season to taste with sesame oil, soy sauce, salt.
Enjoy!
Tagging a few people, if you're interested? @blind-the-winds @sleepyowlwrites @sleepy-night-child @reneesbooks @vsnotresponding @ember-writer @indecentpause @writernopal @eli-writes-sometimes @the-stray-storyteller and OPEN TAG of course :D

6 years is amazing, I've been trying but I'm picky and lazy to cook different vegie options that's not just pasta, chips and pizza so I always fail and end up eating meat options, it's better than not just eating 😅, I feel like Z has also said that about being a vegetarian that doesn't eat veggies, but at least Z is in a tax bracket where she can afford take out 7 days a week. I think next time I attempt being vegetarian I have to do research and collect recipes, probably also meal prep ahead so I don't feel lazy after work, but wow 6 years is goals well done to you.
This is gonna be a long answer because I LOVE to talk about this topic (so if you want to talk about it in my dms we totally can!!!)
So here's my story to become a veggie!
I graduated as an IT Developer alongside my high school degree (idk if that's common in other countries, but here we have that a lot) and as my final project I had to develop an Android App and I did one to help people become vegetarians!!
So I had to do a scientific research to prove that my app was good so I did a lot of research about nutrition and what vegetarians lack the most after changing their diet. And reading all about the better health, the environment and most importantly the animals... how could I still eat meat? This project was during a whole year so I was understanding things while I wrote my research and then one day my mom was cooking, and she was seasoning a piece of meat and I was looking at that for 5minutes realizing that that was a dead animal (crazy how we normalize this in a point most people forget) and I was so disgusted I never ate meat again.
But I started slow, I kept eating chicken for 7 months after stopping every other type of meat. And then I stopped that too. And that's how I became a vegetarian.
And I never felt the need to meat eat again.
I wasn't a fan of veggies too, so I had to adapt. It is a big change in your life and I gained so much weight after I started because there were so few vegetarian options in restaurants and usually were pasta or other carbs 😂
So I started to look at recipes that were more healthy, started going to a nutritionist so she could help me plan my diet and how I could learn to like vegetables. At first I would roast a lot of veggies and then smash them together and make like a smashed potato but with a lot of veggies (carrots, zucchini, onions, potatoes, broccoli...) 😂😂 ps: I also don't like cooking and I am too lazy to do it everyday.
And I don't make my friends or my fiancé to not eat meat because I think that's a very personal decision.
My best friend tried being a vegetarian and it lasted a whole year and she felt so guilty because she missed eating meat. So when she came to talk to me I told her it was ok but the way she could "help" was eating less, or not eating everyday.
So take your time. Start cutting meat everyday. Look up for vegetarian options that look delicious to you and with time, you will be able to change that completely. But a very important point in the process of doing this: do your health check ups because not eating meat influences in how your body absorbs nutrients and vitamins and you most likely will be with a deficiency of vitamin D and B12 😔
It's being 8 years for me now and I don't regret one bit! 💚
Sorry for the long answer (but I did warn you)

Yarrow, do you happen to have any good vegan recipes that you'd be comfortable sharing on tumblr at all? Have been trying to eat way less meat and am somewhat hankering for more recipes than my two vegetarian cookbooks have. (Hope you're doing well!)
sure thing! it might get a bit long because i really like food. you know how some dogs are primarily food-motivated and will do anything to get a treat? i am one of those dogs lmao
i'm really bad at making decisions, including what to eat, so lately i've been "stealing" some recipes from Purple Carrot. the whole meal plan/food delivery thing doesn't seem practical to me, but they post all their recipes for free online and i really enjoy a lot of their ideas, just modifying them a bit for my own needs. for example last night i made this Crispy Harissa Tofu, except a) didn't have fresh mint available so i used dried basil; b) had raisins in my pantry already so i used those instead of currants; c) couldn't find harissa locally so i literally just used sriracha, and made a separate dijon mustard-based glaze for my husband who can't handle spice; and d) i'm okay with honey so i used that instead of agave. (maple syrup or simple syrup works too as a vegan sweetener) ...so a lot of my cooking is stuff like that, finding a recipe and only vaguely following it. i've been modifying Purple Carrot ideas for maybe the last month and a half or so. only having 8-15 recipes to choose from helps a lot with my decision fatigue so i might be doing this for a while xD
here's some more websites that i like to look at for inspiration:
From My Bowl
The Buddhist Chef
Minimalist Baker (not everything here is vegan, but still a lot of good, simple ideas)
Cheap Lazy Vegan (the title of this one says it all <3)
Shane and Simple (i don't agree with the whole diet-culture flavored "oil free" thing, but i remember really liking a squash casserole i made from here before)
Plant-Based on a Budget (i followed some of their meal plans back when i was first going vegan and they were very helpful! i got sick of oatmeal real fast though and am only in the last few months enjoying it again)
Pinch of Yum (again, not all vegan, but still plenty of ideas)
Holy Cow Vegan
Rabbit and Wolves
Here's a few easy staple dishes that i fall back on regularly:
-spaghetti: you can spruce up canned marinara by first cooking onions and garlic in margarine before adding the sauce, and get some protein in there by either using plant-based "meatballs", lentils, or textured vegetable protein. you can also make a nice mock-parmesan topping by adding walnuts, nutritional yeast, onion powder, and garlic powder to a food processor and pulsing it until its crumbly. or just use a generous amount of nutritional yeast. i know i'm being that stereotypical vegan by hyping up nooch but it's SO good and life-changing i swear to dog
-tofu stir fry: press extra-firm tofu to get as much moisture out as possible and cut it into cubes. fry in sesame oil with seasonings of choice. (salt and pepper, of course; if you can get or make a Chinese Five-Spice blend that works really well; otherwise i would probably fall back on a blend of cumin, cinnamon, anise, and ground ginger). cook the tofu on high heat for about 3-5 minutes and set aside, then dump a bag of frozen stir-fry vegetables into the same wok or skillet and continue to cook on high heat. add in minced garlic (i keep a jar of pre-minced garlic in my fridge because i'm lazy), ginger paste (again; lazy), some brown sugar (or other sweetener), a hearty splash of soy sauce (or tamari), and some lime juice (or other acid-- i was out of lime juice the other night so i used rice vinegar, and that worked well) ...you can see i don't really "measure" things lol. cooking is an art and baking is a science which is why i don't bake serve cooked vegetables and tofu on top of rice or noodles
-rice bowl: rice and beans!! canned beans because who has time for beans!! very good with roasted broccoli, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, or butternut squash(you can roast most vegetables straight from frozen) and topped with a creamy sauce. if you're in the Pacific Northwest of the US and can get your hands on it, i highly recommend Yumm Sauce. i am addicted to this stuff and go through it too much so i've had to start to looking for alternatives because it is admittedly a bit pricey for how quick i can go through a bottle. a lot of vegan creamy sauces will call for soaked cashews, which requires a level of forethought i can't usually commit to, but is worth it when i remember to soak the cashews beforehand. other than that, tahini is my go-to base for a creamy sauce; i just whisk it together with lemon juice, syrup, garlic, some water, salt, and pepper.
creamy root vegetable soup: start by sauteing your aromatics (onion, garlic, leek, shallot etc) in olive oil. add Root Vegetable (carrots, potatoes, parsnips, beets, celery root, whatever you have on hand) and continue to saute for about ten minutes. add vegetable broth and a can of coconut milk. bring to a boil then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. add some acidity at the last minute, with vinegar or citrus juice. you can use an immersion blender to make it extra creamy or just eat it as-is
salad: arugula, spinach, or a spring mix for the greens, plus nuts and dried fruits, and some mock-chicken strips if i'm feeling fancy. make an easy vinaigrette dressing with olive oil and balsamic or red vine vinegar, plus a bit of salt and pepper and maybe some dijon mustard
general vegan tips:
-most tofu recipes are best with extra-firm tofu. just press it first by placing it on a plate, covering it with paper towels or clean kitchen towels, and then put another plate on top and let it sit for a bit. but if you're pressed for time, in my experience usually just firmly and thoroughly patting it as dry as possible before cutting works good enough
-while i love cooking, i'm also aware that i'm liable to run out of spoons at any moment, so i allow myself to take as many shortcuts as i can. pre-minced garlic and ginger paste, pre-made spice blends, even pre-cut and frozen produce, etc
-salad greens can last up to two weeks in the crisper if you put a paper towel in with the bag/box
-mushrooms last a lot longer if you store them in a paper bag
-oat milk is my favorite plant milk because it's very creamy and is much more neutral tasting than soy or coconut. if you're trying to replace milk and fat is one of the main things you're getting from that milk, try not to use almond milk because it's thin and sad and flavorless
-cooking oatmeal with oat milk is existentially weird but overall tasty
-there are a lot of great meat alternatives out there nowadays! Gardein has good frozen meatballs and chicken strips; Beyond Meat makes good burger patties and sausages; Field Roast also makes sausages that i enjoy; and Tofurkey has some good chicken alternatives. if you can find it, young jackfruit makes a really good alternative to pulled pork. i made some tacos with it a while back and it was uncanny how meat-like it was. the only thing with jackfruit is you might want another source of protein with your meal, since the fruit itself doesn't have much i don't think
-any balanced meal imho should have a combo of carbs, protein, and fat. mix-and-match plant-based macronutrients to find what works for you. grains are a good source of carbs: i love white rice (easy to cook), couscous, millet, and even the occasional quinoa; legumes and nuts provide a good amount of protein; nuts and seeds are also great for fat, along with coconut and avocado
-nutritional yeast nutritional yeast nutritional yeast nutritional yeast nutritional ye
-oreos are vegan thank god for oreos
hope this little ramble was helpful! :3

Thoughts on the Metatron’s offer in Good Omens!
(spoilers)
OK, but has anyone else been thinking about why the Metatron offered the Supreme Archangel position to Aziraphale?
I mean, sure, maybe he genuinely thinks Aziraphale is best for the job. But given he presided over Gabriel’s trial, and was all-in on the apocalypse in the last season, and is fully prepared to follow whatever “plan” he believes G-d’s given them, and all in all, I don’t trust him.
So why offer the position to Aziraphale, the angel who was integral to stopping his plans last season and saving Gabriel from his (Metatron-ruled) punishment?
In both those situations, there was one thing Aziraphale always had, that was key to his success against Heaven: Crowley.
The Metatron knew Crowley wouldn’t accept Heaven’s offer. He seems to have more of an idea of how people work than the other angels, bantering with Nina and successfully buying coffee. He talks down to Muriel (”the dim one”) and doesn’t seem all that impressed with Michael or Uriel’s bickering either.
He knew Crowley wouldn’t accept the offer - but he knew it would be the last carrot to get Aziraphale back. Aziraphale never wanted to leave Heaven, and as long as Crowley was there...
But Crowley didn’t come - he never wanted to go back, not when he experienced first hand Heaven’s cruelty and gave up on them all. And Aziraphale left - because he wants to fix it, needs to at least try and help (”I knew you couldn’t resist someone under stress”), and has never been the one to run away.
So now it’s Aziraphale - alone, against Heaven. No Crowley to rescue him this time. Alone, with the Metatron, who has his own agenda, and knows how to manipulate the other angels to do what he wants.
I think the Metatron offered that position to Aziraphale to keep him quiet and out of the way. To give him just enough power to stop him from making a mess, and take away all of his real power - the power to question, to make other choices, to go against Heaven, with his demon at his side to egg him on.
And it worked.
Can’t wait for season 3!

holiday prompt → chan balcoin.
001. under the mistletoe—
Chan tends to be hyper aware of mistletoe so he can avoid it at all costs, was probably a cootie believer when he was a kid. Nowadays he doesn't subscribe to the idea that he needs a plant hanging over his head to help him with that kind of thing. Would definitely give his mom a peck on the cheek though, low key cutie.
002. in front of the fireplace, cuddled up under a blanket with a hot drink.
He's alone for sure. He's immune to cuffing season propaganda BUT might feel a twinge in his chest when faced with family nights and his sister and cousins all bringing their someones around. If he asks anyone if Tara's coming around, no he didn't.
003. snowed in from a heavy snow storm.
Everyone in his family's circle is a yes and a no. Yes because he has a quiet longing to be part of the family his mom has built and it would be nice to finally be a proper part of one of their big family stories that will be recounted for years down the line, but no because he's realised he made a mistake following his dad and allowing himself to be cut off from said family. Now he's too prideful to admit how badly he wants to be part of it so it's easier to stay on the outside looking in.
004. at a busy dinner table, food piled on the center and family chaos ensuing around the house.
If it's with the Balcoins and co. I think it'd be good vibes!! He's still figuring out where he fits amongst everyone and knows he's the shiny new thing they're all paying attention to so he's pretty reserved. He's steadily finding his feet as his own person outside of his father's shadow though so I think everyone would be pleasantly surprised when he starts showing some actual personality.
005. standing in front of the christmas tree, decorating it with an assortment of baubles, lights and tinsel.
I'd say he's indifferent to the decorating business, he'll leave those decisions to his mom, but he definitely encouraged her to get a stupidly large tree because he never really had that type of stereotypical holiday experience with his dad. Having some family time with just Daphne and Willow while decorating the tree would have healed some of the unacknowledged childhood trauma he's harbouring. The magic of Christmas etc etc.
006. setting out snacks for santa and his reindeers. don't forget the milk and cookies for christmas hardest workers!
Despite his dad being a hardass I wouldn't suggest he was an awful person, so I think he would have helped Willow set things up for the kids when they were little– footprints in flour through the kitchen to a plate of cookies, a half finished glass of milk and so on. Probably realised Santa wasn't real when his nosy little self found his parents taking bites out of carrots as if reindeer had been in the house. Definitely snitched to all the other kids too lmao.
007. at the mall, waiting in line to sit on santa's lap and spill your christmas gift wishes. will you be deemed naughty or nice?
I would say he's on the nice list. Could technically be nicer, but he's doing his best while dealing with his own shit. He'd quietly be pretty pleased about that, he definitely reacts well to praise.
008. exchanging and open gifts, anticipating what gift they may get. is it something cool or just another pair of socks?
Wishlist wise he'd be hoping for some acknowledgement from his father after their falling out. He wouldn't get it as such, just a generally addressed Christmas card to them all in the mail, but he knows if he wants the man's attention he needs to achieve something first. His task for the year ahead is figuring out whether appeasing his father aligns with his own desires or if it's too detrimental. Best gift he ever got was probably light up sneakers when he was a kid. He's still chasing the high of the joy he felt on that day.
009. auditions are now open for the town christmas extravaganza !!!
Oh Channie is so not a performer, his skills are purely that of observation. Back in the day I'm sure Tara managed to wrangle him into being part of productions though. Catch him painted up like Peeta Mellark as Rock Number 3. He would hate being on stage, but he was her biggest fan so being able to support her moment in the spotlight from right there with her..... 🥺🤧
010. in the trenches of snow forts, amidst a war of a snow fight! who will win?
Dude's a human bulldozer– he loves a snowball fight. Definitely got in trouble a lot as a kid because of it, probably always jumping out of nowhere initiating things which could go either way depending on who he was flinging the snowballs at. FOR SURE got in the shit for having an icicle sword fight at school one time.

Stuffed like a Turkey (Elucien) 🎁
Summary: When Lucien’s Solstice pranking goes too far, Elain demands his repentance.
A series of fluffy/smutty ACOTAR winter one-shots! 12 stories for the 12 days leading up to Solstice (December 21).
Warnings: Smut, mild brat, vaginal sex
Read: Masterlist | AO3
Tumblr media
It was Elain’s first Solstice outside of the Night Court, since she and Lucien had officially moved to the Day Court this past spring. Helion, the former Lady of Autumn (now Lady of Day), Eris, and his pack of hounds were coming to their little house for Solstice dinner. It was going to be packed, and people were going to be hungry.
As Prince of Day, Lucien had court obligations that kept him busy from sunup to sundown. So Elain had cheerfully volunteered to cook Solstice dinner this year.
It would’ve been fine and well, but Feyre’s birthday luncheon had run late, and Elain was frazzled by the time she winnowed back into the Day Court. Dividing time between the courts during the holiday was hard. Still, there was plenty of time before the guests would arrive to get things done.
The turkey went into the oven first. It was a magnificent bird, seasoned thoroughly and brined for the last 24 hours. Plenty of carrots, apples, and beets to rest on, but no onions or garlic—those ingredients were toxic for Eris’s dogs. Elain busied herself around the kitchen as the hours ticked by, chopping vegetables and sautéing with dexterity.
Elain took some time away to lug her present for Lucien downstairs. It was a huge box, wrapped prettily in dusty pink paper. But it was a little prank: there were subsequent boxes of smaller sizes nestled within each other, all of them individually wrapped. The final box, which was about the size of her palm, held a pair of glittering emerald earrings.
There was no time to worry about what her mate’s Solstice prank would be. When Elain rushed back to the dining room to set the table, the jingling of the front door indicated Lucien had returned.
“Lucien!” Elain cried, running over to give him a crushing hug. She hadn’t seen him all day. “How was the Solstice ceremony?”
“Hello, sweet pea,” he murmured, pressing her close and inhaling her scent. The male was draped in a white linen toga, the regalia of the Day Court, despite the frigid temperatures outside. “How was Feyre’s birthday lunch? Did she like our present?”
“She did.” Elain pulled back to admire Lucien’s handsome face. A gold armband circled his bicep, and a small golden crown rested on his brow. His brown skin glowed with good health, smile was equally bright. Lucien was every bit the heir to the Day Court. Her mouth watered at how delicious he looked.
“How’s dinner prep going? Do you need any help?”
“Hmm. I need to set up the dining room table, so could you please take the turkey out of the oven? It should be ready.”
“Gladly, my lady.” Lucien kissed her softly before striding away.
Elain had just finished rearranging the silverware when Lucien called out to her from the kitchen. “Sweet pea? I think you need to see this.”
“What’s wrong?” Elain hurried to the kitchen to find Lucien, still in his Day Court toga, peering into the oven with a perturbed expression. She nearly screamed when she saw the turkey, or at least, what remained of it.
She hadn’t checked on the turkey in the last few hours, fearful of losing precious oven heat. A tiny, golden-brown bird lay on top of the roasted vegetables. Elain could have sworn her arms had strained to heft the turkey into the oven, but this was a bird that couldn’t even be shared between two people, let alone a house full of Solstice guests.
“What the hell?” she shrieked, pushing Lucien out of the way. “What happened?!? How did the turkey shrink?” she wailed, taking the tray out of the oven with thick mitts. She prodded the tiny bird with a fork. It was big breasted, with juicy drumsticks and perfectly spiced…but it was far too small.
“I told you there was something wrong with our oven! The turkey was our main dish of the night! What are Eris’s dogs going to eat now?!? Oh, Lucien, they’re going to go hungry!”
There was no response. Elain whirled around to find Lucien shaking with silent laughter. He brought out a small takeout box from the cupboard with the name Camilla’s Cornish Hen Stand stamped across the front. The male gently floated the bird on the tray back into the box. And with a snap of his fingers, the real turkey, properly sized and still steaming, reappeared on the tray from the pocket of space. Lucien’s Solstice prank, Elain realized.
“You fiend!” Elain pouted, her cheeks burned red with embarrassment.
Lucien was still chortling. “I just can’t believe you thought a cornish hen was our Solstice turkey!”
“Hmph!” Elain turned away crestfallen. “How could you do this to me, Lucien? I’m so stressed out already trying to make everything perfect for your family during our first Day Court Solstice…” her voice shook with tears.
Lucien’s heart cracked. “I’m sorry, my love.” Lucien wrapped his hands around her waist in a back hug. “I only meant for it to be a harmless joke. Tell me how I can make it up to you. I’ll do anything…wait a damn minute. Elain!” He spun his mate around to find her laughing.
“Did I fool you, too?” she giggled.
Lucien sighed with relief. “Gods, Elain. Still have a few tricks up your sleeve, I see.”
“How did you manage to sneak it in? I literally charged at you the moment you came through the door!” she exclaimed.
Lucian grinned. “Oh, I made sure to take that into account. I climbed in through the window—and before you look so alarmed, I made sure to move your plants out of the way—switched out the birds, climbed back out. And then I came in through the door.”
“Clever fox.” Elain leaned in, running her fingers along Lucien’s bare pectoral. She trailed the golden armband on his bicep, appreciating how it gleamed against his burnished skin. “Anyways…I thought I heard you were offering to make it up to me,” she proposed with a sly grin.
“That was when I thought you were upset!” Lucien protested, though his skin was starting to run hot under her nimble fingers wiggling their way over his chest. Elain wearing a frilly pink apron was always a treat, and his russet eye appraised her lithe form with a twinkle.
“But I haven’t seen you all day!” Elain whined, turning her big brown doe eyes up at him. Her perfect pink lips pouted petulantly. Lucien sucked in a breath, grappling with his self-control. “We should do something together before our guests come.”
“Yes, we should, but you’re being such a brat right now with your whining.” Lucien bent down to kiss her, but Elain turned her head.
“I’m your brat. And besides, you know you love it.” She gave him another pout.
“Alright, then. What does the little brat want me to do?”
Elain’s pout melted into a grin. She tip-toed to whisper into Lucien’s ear, “I want you to stuff me like a turkey.”
Lucien nearly choked. His sweet gardening mate always had such a dirty mouth behind closed doors. “Our guests will be here soon, sweet pea. Are you alright with something quick?”
“Yes,” Elain said, impatiently hauling Lucien’s lips towards hers. Lucien hungrily delved his tongue into her mouth, the faint remnants of their Solstice dinner from taste-testing lingering on Elain’s tongue. “Ever since you walked through that door—” she broke off with a gasp when Lucien lifted her effortlessly onto the counter, large hands pushing up her dress.
“Mmm I missed you,” Lucien breathed against her neck as Elain’s bare legs spread wide open for him.
“Close the kitchen blinds.” Elain was barely coherent as her hands fumbled at the cinched knot holding Lucien’s garment in place. The white fabric fell away, revealing his strained erection, the head gleaming with precum. Elain needed to travel back in time and thank whoever created the toga, for it displayed all her favorite parts of Lucien: his broad chest, his muscled calves and thighs, his tanned brown arms…oh yes, and also, the easy access to his cock.
Normally, Lucien would have taken his time removing Elain’s stockings by slowly rolling them down her leg and leaving a trail of kisses, but today, he was in a rush. He disposed of her stockings and damp underwear in a pile before kneeling on his knees to kiss her inner thighs. Elain whined as Lucien’s hot breath ghosted over her most sensitive areas. “You look delicious, my love,” he whispered reverently.
“I don’t want you to taste me, Lucien! I want you to stuff me up,” Elain demanded.
“Bratty as always,” Lucien remarked dryly. But Elain’s hips bucking in his face and her sweet arousal were unbearably tantalizing. Lucien allowed himself to lick a stripe up her pussy, tasting her glistening skin, before getting back on his feet. “But as my lady commands.”
When they’d moved in, Elain and Lucien had requested a new countertop. One that was specifically the perfect height for him to drive himself into her without any further warning. Elain let out a squeak as her mate stuffed her completely, his heavy cock stretching her walls perfectly. She threw her head back, moaning “yes, Lucien” as Lucien began snapping his hips against hers.
Elain pushed the last bit of Lucien’s toga off his shoulder, leaving him bare-chested and beautiful under the faelight. She wrapped her legs around his hips, locking him in so that he could never leave her again. The sight of her mate, with his golden sun crown on his brilliant red hair and his dark gaze as he fucked her had Elain clenching, then cumming in quick succession.
“My bratty chef looks so good with my cock stuffed inside of her.” Elain could only whimper as Lucien found a deeper angle. She was a pretty sight to behold, her warm brown eyes half-lidded with bliss and her cheeks flushed with euphoria. Simple brown dress bunched up around her hips, the top laces loosened revealing soft curves, and that damn pink apron was the cherry on top.
The heir of Day leaned down, his red hair tickling the nape of her neck. “My beautiful mate,” he murmured into her ear. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you, Elain. The Solstice ceremonies were so droll without you there.”
“Were any females throwing themselves on you?” Elain demanded, feeling possessive at the thought of other females eyeing her mate. If she didn’t have Feyre’s birthday luncheon to attend, she would have gone to the Day Court’s Solstice ceremonies.
“Are you jealous?” Lucien muttered darkly. His hands gripped her waist, his russet eye sizzled with desire as she dug her nails into his back in response. Elain latched onto Lucien’s neck with her lips, sucking hard. The wet suction of her lips and the vibration of her little moans on his skin with each thrust had Lucien groaning as he spent himself inside her.
Lucien lay her gently on the counter as he pulled out of her, wiping the apex of her thighs with a clean towel. He walked around their kitchen, his muscled, tall body still naked. Elain blissfully lay back on her elbows, admiring her mate. She blinked.
“Oops,” she gasped. “I may have left something on your neck.”
Lucien’s gold and russet eyes grew wide as he checked his reflection in a small mirror on the wall. A dark, mottled hickey had bloomed on the column of his neck. “Elain! My parents will see this!” he hissed in shock.
Elain blushed bashfully, a completely different female from the one who had boldly ran her hands over him minutes ago. “I’m sorry!” she cried, wringing her hands fretfully. “I got carried away!”
Lucien sighed, shaking his head with a small smile. “You have nothing to be jealous of, Elain. No Day Court female would ever dare provoke your wrath.” A small, animalistic part of him preened at the thought of his mate possessively marking him up as hers…perhaps he could request that from her for their next Court appearance…
There was a loud knock on the front door, and excited yips coming from outside. “It’s Eris!” Elain’s brown eyes widened. “Why is he here early? We are not ready yet!”
“Of course Eris is early,” Lucien said dryly as he handed Elain her stockings from the floor.
“Open up! It’s cold out here!” The High Lord of Autumn barked. “Are you…are you two fucking?”
“No!” Lucien shouted, tugging on his toga hastily. The air was thick with the smell of their arousal, and he had no idea how to clear the scent. Elain grabbed a bottle of perfume on the counter and began spritzing it madly. She coughed as her nostrils were filled with cloying floral essence.
“Don’t lie to me, little brother! My dogs say they can smell—oh wait…maybe it’s just the turkey.”
