I think there’s something to be said for the fact that I used to dread presentations when I was younger but now plan to go out of my way to sign myself up for them so I can improve my public speaking. Me from not even two years ago would’ve never. But now ?? The more the merrier let me at them

#anything from research poster presentations to research conferences to medical conferences #i also plan on investigating conferences that center on arab culture through the refugee center i volunteer at #i think my frivolous little girl dream of being someone who actually contributes is coming to fruition more and more each day #obviously i'll be fucking nervous presenting to a bunch of doctors professors politicans etc etc #but it's just necessary! i want to conduct myself w confidence amongst professionals #instead of just being 21 and young and awkward and immediately getting written off as someone not to be taken seriously #not now!! i need to not do this thing where i throw myself into 80 different things at once #studying is my top priority atm #but soon! very soon. hopefully as i progress more thru my orgo research #so many things to look forward to i am going to melt into stardust #p

Maybe I really should study journalism. I had been thinking about it ever since I saw how many journalists had been killed by Israel in the past few months, and realised that if this happens again, who will report on it if so many journalists are already dead? But on the other hand I'm really not sure if I'd be able to keep going when faced with all the horrors that journalists have to witness

#if i do decide to study it ill try to learn arabic too #but before i can even think about studying i need to find out if my depression is treatable or a symptom of something larger #and how to manage it if it is. otherwise im setting myself up for failure

Hello, lovely people!

I hope you're all doing well.

First of all, thank you so much for the warm welcome back ;-; I honestly didn't expect it! I would have returned much earlier if I knew that was the case :')

Anyways, I'm currently working on a few posts and there's also the surprise I mentioned earlier, which I wanted to share it with you to see who's interested in participating in it.

I've always said that I'm not so happy with the available free Arabic courses online, so I decided to do something about it and make an actual good free course that is fun and accessible for everyone. I have experience in teaching Arabic for non-native speakers of different ages so I think I'll be able to make an interesting course based on my humble experience and knowledge.

I'm currently working on the material, although I'm no editing expert but my point is not to have the "perfect" course in terms of technology/presentation. I am, however, confident that the content will be good, that I'll be able to give you guys something that is fun and practical إن شاء الله. I'm not sure if we can call it a course, or an event or a learning activity, as you wish it's the idea that counts ^^

I'm gonna start from the very beginning, and I'll be with you every step on the way. During the time the course/event will take place, I'll answer questions, give you homework and correct it, etc.

It won't be live. I'll make content in advance so that people can listen to it at their own pace. I'm thinking of posting 2 lessons a week depending on how long each lesson will be.

I hope you'll be interested in this idea, the first level will be beginner i.e. the letters / harakat / words.

Is anyone interested in this idea? let me know.

Also, if you have any other comments / questions feel free to share them! Like how long would the lessons be ideally? And how many lessons per week?

#yayo #i think i may make her an american student to match all the rest of the cast... :) #++ my explanation for why i write them little dialogues in english so far is theyre all immigrants or expats for whom french is a second or #third language so english ended up being their shared language #(klein speaks german english and french - xeres speaks tamazight arabic french and english - soona speaks arabic english and french) #in that order so both soona and klein spoke english before they did french and would have been more comfortable w it #at least when they first all met lol. so thats why they dont speak french among themselves! #i think kleins french is v good for professional reasons but he still prefers english #and possibly selected xeres as a roommate bc she was comfortable speaking english to him lol #maybe for yayo ill make it so that she has 1 french parent and was raised bilingual #so she moved to france for studying bc its cheaper #thatd make sense.. so theres my thoughts on my ocs today :)

i should do a poll abt which language to learn first…

#the ones i’m most excited to learn r like. arabic greek and mandarin. #arabic is definitely the most relevant given the amount of arabic speaking ppl in sweden #but mandarin is one i already studied a bit in high school so i’ve got the very basics somewhere in my head #romanian is also up there for obvious reasons but i really wnana be annoying and learn another of the eastern romance languages instead #like istro-romanian (500 speakers) or dalmatian (dead since the late 1800s) #but i’ll settle for daco-romanian if it proves too hard. cuz i can already (very) vaguely understand some spoken romanian from exposure #i should learn hungarian too just because. cuz my irl name is at least partially hungarian in origin? #arambles

I want to be an artistic generalist but it’s so unrealistic for me rn!!

Most of the i/p related posts ive reblogged are very much aimed at international audiences (which unfortunately means its mostly usa centered. Like half of the posts I see israel are talking about the us. #After a conversation with an arab woman that works in the kindergarten I volenteered at over summer I already been messing around with the #idea of going like. working in a kindergarten in an arab area #we were talking about languages and she explained that she learned hebrew by going to work in a kindergarten in a jewish area #and Im in an arabic class in school and want to learn the language #and Ive always wanted to be involved in a humanitarian cause #so honestly. its not much of a change. its more of being more specific in what I am looking for #arabic class is kind of on a slight holt like the rest of my school because everyone from that area had to evacuate #but I might be temporerily going to school in here. where weve evacuated to #and the school were looking into is the one where my dad was in and where he learned arabic from. and he speaks very fluenetly #I really hope I get into it. Were missing so much school and the little we do over zoom is very hard for me cause I cant study over zoom #and most schools are working again so we wont be taken into acount and itll be like it was after covid lockdown. which still non of us have #properly recocered from #so I really want to be able to actually go to school. even if its with people i dont know in an enviroment im not familiar with
