Sooo I am from the Southern United States, and so I can't help but picture Konig having to deal with a Southern!Wifey.
One thing Konig will have to get used to, if his little wife is Southern,is her food and drinks. She will make Biscuits and Gravy(White Gravy) and drink Sweet Iced Tea by the gallon. Also,if she is the home maker he will learn he can not set foot in her kitchen while she is cooking otherwise he will be put to work. "Oh handsy hmm? Well if you have energy to be handsy you can peel potatoes, shuck corn, and shell some peas now can't you?"
He will never go hungry,or have to worry about her defending herself. Nothing is scarier than an angry southern woman with a cast iron pan in her hand.
Sorry if this like came from no where,I just don't see a lot of southerner rep in COD headcanons or stories and sorta just wanted to share my thoughts!
Hi!! Omg sometimes I forget that Americans are real, it's sounds so cool!! Konig is FOLDED. Southern wifey actually goes really well with his traditional values and how he perceives his possible wife-to-be. He was raised on the belief that a true Austrian woman should always care about home, cooking, going to church etc, and be ready to face the attackers with her own powers - so when his adorable wifey from overseas cooks for him, takes care of him, all with that cute accent of hers...poor guy is ready to get USA citizenship and buy a farm in the midwest. He loves your food! He is a big boy and he needs meat, and he would gladly sacrifice his time to cook with you just so he could get an opportunity to grop your ass and steal a few kisses while you are too busy with doing the meat. Someone is trying to harass you and before Konig could step up, you already defeated the attacker?? Omg he wishes he could marry you a second time..... He is a bit of a cringe cowboy fan because he is a loser who was reading that very old western and exported Italian cowboy movies, so he still thinks of you as a bit of a cowgirl...he would silently push a hat to your direction, but would actually fucking die if you'd wear it.

Very belated Binderary books, uh...I've lost track actually. I think they are #6 and #7. And it's another two-volume split! This is (Slow) Burn, Baby, Burn by orchidlocked, an extremely long Good Omens fic set in the 1970s. It's about our favorite angel/demon pair navigating the disco scene, and it's not an AU, which is sort of usual in a fic this long and with such a specific premise. There are a fair few real people featured here, some as major characters, and a lot of music history and an excellent playlist alongside all the fun and angsty relationship stuff that so many of us are here for. I learned a lot about disco reading this fic and it was fascinating and also way more queer than I ever realized.
For the cover up there we have a white Allure book cloth on the spine, and white HTV over homemade book cloth for the main cover. The cloth pieces both come from the same sheet but I oriented the stripes this way so they'd be coordinated-but-not-matched and I really love the effect. They're also cotton and really nice to hold. It's funny, I was thinking of binding this fic when I found the fabric while digging through the Joann's remnant bin, and as soon as I saw it this fic not only came to mind but moved up to the top of the to-bind list. It was fate, clearly.
More photos under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both spines and a top view. That's orange HTV for the titles. This it the first time I've worked with matte HTV (I usually use metallic or foil) and I was surprised at how much thinner it is, and how easy it was to stick. And I like the color inverse here in counterpoint to the front cover. The top view shows off the handmade endbands and bookmark, and also the rounding job. I'm still working on rounded spines, and the turn-in over the spine didn't come out as smooth as I'd have liked, but I think it's a good result. The ribbon bookmark was supposed to be blue to match the endbands, but every blue ribbon I could find clashed horribly with the cover so it's this nice leafy sage green. Which actually works really well with...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The endpapers! I got these as Joann's too. All four are cut from the same print, but I shifted and rotated them when I trimmed them so the patterns wouldn't all be in the same place. I had desperately wanted this other paper I found on Etsy with little vinyl records all over it, but the pieces weren't the right shape and I'd have had to ship them from overseas ($$), but I like the mood these ones set. And they're thick and nicely textured and look awesome with the cover, so really I think things worked out very well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Couple of pics of the interior. I kept it fairly simple but I feel like it fits the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scene break line is orange, to match the covers. I usually use gray but wanted something more fun. I recently bought some off-white paper that I used for most of my binderary projects this year because I've heard it's easier on the eyes, and it is, but I used the older bright white for this so the color contrast would be sharper. No complaints; I think it looks amazing. The second image above is the appendix I put together for the volume. Being so centered in the music industry, this fic has a really long playlist that the author put together with their preferred recordings. It's linked in the story and I did include the link text in the book, but I had my mind on preservation and the challenges of digital archiving while I was making this one, so I also took all the title/artist/album info and just listed it here. It was too much to do all by hand, so I learned how to export a Spotify playlist into an Excel doc, then moved that into the Word doc to print. A lot of steps, but not nearly as hard as I'd thought, and way less tedious.
I have to say this book is aesthetically really different than all my previous ones. I ran into so many design hurdles but I honestly couldn't be more pleased with the end result. I'll have to push my comfort zone like this more often, I guess.

His Love
|Aegon II Targaryen x Fem!Reader|
Part Eleven
Master List of Series
Summary: Being a bastard born in the slums of Flea Bottom was all you were known for. Not the streak of white you had in your dark hair, the violet ring around your pupils, or how your sharp tongue and skills with the blade resembled your father, Daemon Targaryen. You were just a bastard, nothing more, but to him, to Aegon Targaryen, you were everything. You were his love.
Author's Note: I'm so happy I'm actually able to upload once a week now! I'm sure you guys are too. xD This story and the support it has gotten is one of the only reasons I stuck through my severe depression. I feel like this character has so much to say. She's all the women who have been a victim of men. She's the breaker of the generational cycles of misogyny women before her suffered. She was weak and powerless because of the systems put in place, but not anymore. Many women throughout actual history have been written out, forgotten, or replaced by men.
P.S. I decided to feature some Middle English dialogue to make things sound more ~fancy~ when it comes to written words. Also note that starting from this point on, everything that happens in the story is throughout two and a half years.
Tumblr media
Translation Guide: Perzītsos: Little Flame. Muña: Mother or mom. Sōvēs: Fly. Prithee: Middle English for please.
Chapter Warnings: Jace is a turdy younger brother, and the italics when speaking is High Valyrian, which I didn't feel like butchering the translation of.

"I sat with my anger long enough until she told me her real name was grief."- C.S. Lewis.
You strolled along the halls of Dragonstone, content and relaxed with your arms clasped behind your grey-blue dress, parchment that you haphazardly wrapped together in your hands. It had been freezing these past few days, and you had to bring out some of your winter gowns.
It was always so cold here on the island. Even in the scorching summer heat, there was always a chill in the breeze. It was nothing like Kings Landing. Though the air was icy, it was clean, with a free-flowing salty smoke smell that wafted through the cracks in the walls instead of the sticky, humid stench of sweat that permeated over all of Kings Landing.
As servants dressed in the traditional bright red garments passed you, each bowed, stopping for their Princess. Even though you were still just a bastard in their hearts, they treated you respectfully, as if you weren't. You had done more in your years here at Dragonstone than they could ever wish to accomplish in their lives.
You had claimed a dragon, the fiercest and most wild one ever to conquer the Westrosi skies. You studied history and philosophy, mastering your ancestor's natural tongue quicker than any of your brothers. You learned to wield the sword as a man, besting serval of the knights that tried you.
When lords and envoys came, negotiating imports and exports between the Island and that of the mainland, seeking to manipulate the heir to the Iron Throne simply because she had teats instead of a cock, you advised her, observing through hidden passages inside the walls and whispering to your mother what you thought.
You were brilliant, too clever for your own good; Daemon would often say, warning you about the dangers of a man's ego. There was no wrath like a man whose pride was wounded. They had started wars over the fact.
"Perzītsos!" Rhaenyra called out to you as you entered the Chamber. A topographical map of Westeros carved into a sturdy wood, each set of land painted in different colors. Quickly, you shoved the letter up your sleeve, hiding it from your parent's eyes.
"Good morn, Muña. What appears to be on the agenda today?" You smiled at your mother, bending forward to give her a peck on the cheek, continuing to keep the letter out of view.
She sighed through her nose, leaning her palms on the table. "Your father has made it his current obsession to support the troops battling in the Stepstones. An opinion in which I agree but not many others share," she said, shaking her head.
"You speak as if I have no ears," Daemon commented like an upset child, crossing his arms.
"Those stuffy cunts of the Small Council won't do anything unless the war is upon their hearth," you spoke in High Valyrian, an annoyed stare directed at the Lords surrounding the Painted Table. "Inaction at the face of those in need aid the oppressor," you declared, now speaking in the common tongue and moving your body to become eye level with your mother.
From his place across the table, Ser Steffon Darkling grinned wistfully, reminiscing at your untainted conviction. It was a quality after years of serving the crown he had lost.
"Despite what you and your father believe," your mother began, finally addressing Daemon, who stood proudly to the side, "we cannot simply send men to the battlefield. There is a process we have to follow, people we have to sway to our side that have historically refused to do anything in the Stepstones."
Daemon scoffed, rolling his eyes as he shifted his stance. Rhaenyra did the same at his immaturity, sticking her nose in the air. They, indeed, were a match made by the Gods.
As heated discussion commenced, you observed the advisors bickering at one another, their hands wildly gesturing as they spoke. You listened intently to their words while staring at the map, tracings the lines with your pupils as the parchment scratched at your wrist. Supplies were most critical for Lord Corlys than actual swords, you gathered from their arguments, biting your lip as you listened to the options people spouted.
Everything they said was nonsense, some wanting to wait until the Hand accepted their petitions which would be a death sentence for all who occupied those disputed islands.
"The crown will not supply men without consent of the Small Council and the King. That is something we cannot change," you interrupted, looking at each of their surprised faces. "But we still owe it to our Valyrian brothers to help them in anyway we can." As they watched, eyes bulging out of their sockets at your instruction, you twisted your arms behind your back to straighten your posture. "They have been steadfast supporters of the crown going back decades, and they are family." Your voice softened towards the end, staring into your mother's and father's eyes. "It is our duty and honor to do what we can to aid their efforts."
"And what do you suggest then, Princess," an advisor, Lord Bartimos Celtigar, interrupted.
You eyed the older man coldly. He was an unrelenting, incorruptible, and highly wealthy Lord—years of commanding people with ingenious strategies from his towers. Daemon had told you that your mother would need an ally when she ascended the throne.
"We have three able-bodied dragon riders, do we not," you questioned him with an arched brow. "Prince Daemon, myself, and my brother Prince Jacaerys will escort our fleet of ships with supplies—weaponry, food, clothing, healing salves, anything they might need."
"Prithee, Princess, where we would acquire such supplies." Lord Bartimos laughed condescendingly to the sky, the black fur lining his coat shining in the daylight as he shook his head at nothing. It was your turn to smile, showing your teeth as you revealed the elegant paper.
"I have received a raven, Lord Celtigar, from Kings Landing." You quickly looked at your parents simultaneously as their heads snapped toward you and smiled apologetically. You could see Daemon's fury at the secret you kept from him but refused to wither under his gaze. "I was invited to Prince Aegon's name day celebration. Personally," you spoke, your posture stiff and your chin held high. "While there, I will talk with my Grandsire and the Council to ensure our supplies and safe travels."
Bartimos laughed again, grabbing the bronze chalice of mead he had sat down and taking a quick drink. "You believe you can convince the King, let alone the Small Council, to give us aid to the Stepstones," he scoffed and faced Rhaenyra. "I mean no disrespect to his majesty, but we realize it is not him sitting on the Iron Throne; the Hand is. And it will not matter to him what you petition. They have consistently denied ever becoming involved in the Stepstones."
"My father is still the King, despite with rumors you may have heard," Rhaenyra defended, "and your blatant disrespect of him will not be forgotten." She turned to you with a bittersweet but proud smile as she stroked the long, intricate braids on your head. "You have grown wise and strong, perzītsos. You have my approval to go."
Daemon continued to stare at you, unable to hold his gaze. Your eyes darted to the silver buttons on his tunic as he brushed your mother aside and gripped your arms firmly. He was unyielding as Rhaenyra dismissed the meeting until tomorrow.
"You received a letter from Kings Landing?" He leaned down, whispering heatedly in your face. You nodded, a guilty expression covering your features. "When did you think about telling me this, hmm? Have you forgotten what they did to you?" He questioned harshly.
"My love," Rhaenyra whispered, stroking a gentle hand along his shoulder blade. He calmed instantly, inhaling as he let go, his fists clenching at his sides.
"Though it has been years, I have not forgotten what they did," you scowled, stepping away from him. "I know Otto Hightower will be the hardest to sway. His great disdain for our family and us is not unknown to me, but he will have no other choice than to yield once Grandsire and I speak."
Your father huffed and looked away, a childish act from a grown man, as Rhaenyra smiled gratefully. "I am so proud of you, sweet girl," she said kindly, tears forming in her eyes. "You are ever the grown woman, cunning and wit and beauty. I have no doubt you will bring us what we need."
"Thank you, mother." You tried not to show how deeply her words moved you, swallowing a lump in your throat as your cheeks and ears heated. You bowed, exiting as Daemon gave you one last unamused look before Rhaenyra turned sharply toward him.
***
You had read that letter at least a hundred times before you attended the meeting, the contents coming as quite the shock, making your knees buckle over each sentence. It was not addressed to your family as invitations like this should be, but directly to you, from the Queen herself.
Initially, you had come to the Chamber to inform your parents of the note, hardening your heart as you shoved any empathy regarding what Queen Alicent had asked of you and thinking this could be useful to them.
A knock sounded at your door, gentle yet firm as you bid them enter, folding the letter into your lap. Daemon's lithe form crowded the doorway, light from the hall outlining his silhouette as his boots thudded on the stone floor. You refused to acknowledge his presence.
"I came to apologize," he spoke, but you ignored him, still turning your head away and walking to your desk, shutting the letter inside a drawer. "Twas... wrong of me to have acted in such a manner."
Finally, you faced him, looking at his taut expression and putting your fists on your waist.
"That sounded painful, Father," you teased, though you still hid anger beneath your smirk. "I shall call Maester Gerardys to fix you some healing tea."
Your father sighed, dragging his feet to an armchair near the stone fireplace and plopping in it. He cradled his head in his palms, sighing profoundly and moving his body in your direction. Moments like these were the only times you saw the actual inner workings of your father. Alone and after he has made a mistake. You sat in the seat across from him, staring at his aged face and white shoulder-length hair as he thought over his words.
"I should not have acted the way I did," he began, sighing as if he was disappointed with himself as he studied the small orange flames before him. "I forget, sometimes, that you are not like them. Those cunts at court who seek to undermine I and Rhaenyra's claim to the throne."
"Mother's claim to the throne," you corrected, and Daemon grunted, nodding his head curtly.
"The Hightowers seek to undermine your mother's right. They have believed since Aegon was born that he should be named heir because he is a male. Years of precedent my brother had set tossed aside simply for a boy who does not want it nor deserve it."
You looked away, moving your gaze from him to the floor as you chewed your lip. He was right. Everyone in the realm felt the uncertainty of Rhaenyra's claim, but no one believed the Hightowers would actively try to supplant her beside Daemon... and now you. You couldn't trust them not to take advantage of such an opportunity because you knew Daemon himself would if given a chance. You had experienced the evil they could commit, something you believed your father would never do, how the Queen turned a blind eye to the Hand's decision to murder and publicly shame people you loved.
"My invitation to Kings Landing could be more advantageous than I thought," you said aloud. Daemon did not outwardly acknowledge your words. Only the ghost of a smirk let you know he was listening.
"If Prince Aegon does not want the crown," you said to yourself more than anything, "what is preventing them from crowning him any way upon Grandsire's death? With enough persuasion the Prince could change his mind. A glutton would surely not turn away a feast simply because someone said no."
"We have preparations set in place for that moment. The bells will be rung upon his death, and a raven will be sent here to summon Rhaenyra for her corination." Daemon shrugged, watching the dwindling fire before him. You looked at him perplexed.
"That is all," you questioned, and he nodded.
"And honor, I suppose," he offered half-heartedly. "The lords of the kingdom have sworn fealty to her. In everyone else's minds, the matter is set."
"Do you think a man such as Otto Hightower, a man who has been removed from his position once before for conspiring in his own self-interests, has honor?" You abruptly stood, pacing between the fire and Daemon as you crossed your arms, pulling the skin off your lip. "He will do everything in his power to keep Mother off the throne and crown someone who is his kin. There has to be more done to secure Mother's place and make sure there are no doubts about secession after Grandsire's death."
You were irate, vividly gesturing as you thought of what to do, of what plans to make. On the other hand, your father sat still, completely unmoving, as the light danced over his pale skin. You became irritated at his lack of response, kicking his boot in frustration.
"What do you suggest we do, daughter? There is only so much one can in such a short time. A name day celebration only lasts till the next morrow's dawn, and it would be improper to stay longer than customary."
Your mind stopped at his words, glancing over at your mahogany desk. There would be a way for you to stay longer, long enough to change preparations to ensure a smooth succession.
"I am certain there is a way I can arrange for a greater," you paused, looking at your father's sitting form, "stay. If you are willing to let me, of course," you hastily added.
A grin slowly spread across Daemon's pink lips, the closest to a smile you would ever get from him, as he stood. He rested his hands on your shoulders like always when he wanted his point heard.
"Good. Like your mother, I have faith that you will succeed. Failure is not in our blood," he spoke, his purple eyes following the white streak in your hair. "I know you care deeply for her, which is why this needs to be kept between father and daughter. I do not want any undue stress upon her as we plan for another child soon," he said in a lowered voice.
You nodded, your lashes fluttering with a faint smile as he left your chambers. Breathing deeply, you went to your desk, plucking the note from the drawer as you reread it.
"I hope this letter finds thou well. Despite your start, I have heard tales of the feats thou have accomplished and how you have grown into a lady fitting of thy station. Though I realize we did not leave within the terms I had wished the last time thou visited the Keep, I need thy help. My son, Prince Aegon, hath become unruly since you have left. He lives inside the brothels on the Streets of Silk and drinks until he cannot move. He hath gone missing multiple times in the past months.
Watchmen discovered him in a pool of his own gore, and when I reminded him of his intended name-day celebration within a fortnight and all who were expected to be in attendance, he was enraged. I had never seen him in such a way. Aegon now refuses to attend for unknown reasons and hath disappeared again. I dispatched Ser Criston Cole to find my son, but he hath had nay luck.
I implore thou to forgive the details that I am about to divulge. Years after thou had left the Red Keep, I had come looking for Aegon within his chambers and had found what couldst only be titled as an alter for thou. Dresses, underclothes, bed linens, stockings, miniature portraits of thou, and a journal were sullied and hidden inside a compartment within his mattress. I realize it was wrong of me to dost so, and I have prayed to the Seven in recompense, but I chose to read his diary's contents. What I saw inside were the inner thoughts of a madman.
I am disgusted by what I read, but it couldst be used to the advantage. Depravity depicted in such blatant language, vulgar thoughts, and words that nearly stopped my heart, but what disturbed me the most was that thou were in it. I know of the time you and Aegon spent together and his lingering feelings toward you.
I beg thou, pray, come to Kings Landing. Thou art my only hope to stop the shame brought upon this family by his absence. I wilt give thou whatever thou desire in thanks.
Nay soul knows the contents of our correspondence, and I wouldst like it to continue that way.
With sincere regards, Queen Alicent of House Hightower"
The Queen was a simpleton to believe that her begging could make you feel an ounce of sympathy toward her plights. You did not owe her anything. For all you cared, Aegon could fuck every woman in Kings Landing, never appear at any event, and drink himself to death, and it wouldstill not be enough shame cast upon her family.
The Hightowers deserved to suffer—every single one of them.
***
It had been three days since you had received Queen Alicent's letter begging for your help. It was plenty of time to send one of your own to the Red Keep and pack your things.
Rhaenyra had found it odd that only you had been the one to receive an invitation to what indeed should be a family event. All the noble houses that were sent a raven would surely bring along their spouse and gaggle of children.
Despite the petty attempt at an insult this was to Rhaenyra and her kin, she did not pry further nor send word of her displeasure to her past friend. The trip did serve a hidden purpose from House Hightower, so she let the offense slip with the wind.
"Sister. You truly do not desire to return to that den of vipers," Jaceaerys questioned as the Dragonkeepers perilously dragged Cannibal's chained body. It was something you could never watch as you lowered your gaze to your riding pants.
It always stung your heart to observe such a wild beast in shackles, the Keepers hitting him with whips if he disobeyed. Dragons cannot be tamed with soft riders, you chanted internally. The reminder of it carved into the flesh of your palm. You had to be brave, strong, and intelligent. Kindness did not get you a dragon.
"Sister," Jace waved his hand beside you, "are you even hearing my words?" You hummed, nodding as you looked into his brown eyes, which were not so different from yours.
"Yes, I am listening, brother," you replied condescendingly. "My desire is certain. I will travel to Kings Landing upon their request, for it would be rude to refuse the words of the Queen."
"The Queen sent it to you?" he asked, incredulous, his black eyebrows raising to the sky as you gave him a perplexed look.
"Did I not tell you," you requisitioned, tilting your head at his bewildered expression. Jace opened his mouth to speak, but you swiftly cut him off. "It is no matter who sent it, so I do not see why you are concerned."
He huffed, crossing his arms as he toed the loose stones in front of the entrance to Dragonmont. You rolled your eyes.
Yes, you did love your half-brother as if he was truly your whole, but the lack of blood relation did not make him any less annoying.
"Why would they only invite you? I am to inherit the Iron Throne after Mother. It should be I mounting my dragon and flying to Kings Landing," he said proudly but with envy in his tone. "I am the Kings grandson and not the bastard of-"
"Jacaerys!" Your mother shouted, Lucserys's and Joffrey's hands in her own, closely followed by the rest of your family and some servants to see you off. "Give your apologies to your sister, now."
Jace turned to you, red tinting his cheeks and mumbling under his breath as he went to stand beside the nursemaids holding the twins, Viserys and Aegon. You walked over to your mother, showing none of the bottled emotions your brother had opened as she wrapped you in her warm embrace.
"I will miss you my perzītsos," she whispered into your tightly braided hair. "No matter what anyone says, we are your family, and the blood of the dragon flows strongly within you."
You looked up at her violet eyes, shimmering in a pool of unshed tears as you smiled and said you would miss her. It would be the first time since you had been brought to Dragonstone you ever traveled anywhere without your family.
Occasionally, you would travel to Driftmark for Rhaena's name day or holidays so she could be with her twin and grandparents or when the rare Lord would invite Rhaenyra to gain her favor as the heir. Your family had their own little world here on Dragonstone, so there was no reason to leave it.
You gave each of your younger siblings a kiss on the cheek, promising Luke how you would write every moment you could. Rhaena, whom you never had a close relationship with despite sharing the same father, came, offering you a sincere smile and hug before you reached Jace.
He couldn't look at you, his eyes focusing on anything but his half-sister standing before him. You stepped closer, surprising him with a genuine hug before whispering.
"We are more alike than you think. I believe that is why we tend to fight so much," you paused, pulling him closer to your body under the guise of a sentimental moment as he processed your words. "But once you accept that we are not so different, perhaps we will finally have nothing to upset our parents about." You felt his sharp intake of breath as you released him. The implication hung in the air as you gave him a loving smile and a peck on his nose before you went to Daemon.
Your father nodded to the servants behind him as you watched them, bewildered. They carried a rectangular item wrapped in a leather cloth, the shape unmistakable as they uncovered it, placing it delicately not to hurt Daemon.
The sheath was as golden as the sun as your father removed it, the longsword blade reflecting a mirror image of the grey sky above. Its hilt had the same gold with intricate designs on the smaller-than-average handle that expanded its way up to the blade, licking the steel like flames. The crossguard comprised two dragons on opposing sides, turning their head to bite the blade. A blood-red ruby sat in the center, surrounded by what you could only assume were four circles of Dragonglass. It reminded you of Dark Sister, Daemon's sword, only more ornate.
You could not form words, your mouth opening and closing like a fish thrown onto the shore. You wanted to thank him. Spout your never-ending gratefulness and praise until the end of time, but none of that leaves your lips.
"Could I hold it," you asked Daemon, your eyes flicking to his and the sword. He smirked, his eye wrinkling in the corner as he placed it in your upturned palms.
It was heavier than the training swords you used, sharper than them, too, as you run your finger across the blade. You were sure it had taken some convincing on Daemon's part to get Rhaenyra to agree to have your own weapon. You had overheard them arguing behind closed doors regarding your upbringing on more than one occasion. Your half-mother refusing to let Daemon commission you a simple sword of your own, and your father arguing back about how she had no say over his blood.
You knew what it meant to have your own sword. It was more than finally showing your prowess and reaching your full potential but was a silent way of your mother and father believing you were ready and that it was your turn to teach and guide yourself in the art of life and the dangers that came with it.
"Thank you, father," you quietly breathed, hooking the sword onto the leather belt of your pants.
Its golden sheath stood out among the black cloth of your outfit, clashing with the silver that accented your body. You would have to commission new clothes once you were in Kings Landing.
Daemon said nothing, tilting his head as you came in for a firm embrace. He squeezed you tightly, nearly crushing your ribs as he rested his chin on your hair, noting Rhaena's avoidant gaze. This was the most affection you had received from him, never having been the type of man who smothered his family in kisses and hugs. You melted at his touch, smiling into his chest as you both stood there for the longest time, making no effort to pull away until the young Viserys sneezed.
"You will write to me very day, yes?" Daemon questioned, his hands on your shoulders as he raised his brows.
"Of course," you said passionately. "Everything I see, every whisper, rumor I hear will be sent to you." He hummed in approval, releasing you as you climb atop your dragon.
You adjusted yourself in your saddle, stationed between two of Cannibal's large spikes, as you gave your family one last parting glance.
Though you were on one of the most enormous dragons in the world, you could still see the teary eyes of Jace, your mother, and Luke. All looked up at you with the same expressions as you pressed your lips to your leather riding gloves, sending each of them a genuinely heartfelt kiss.
"Sōvēs!" You shouted, and the black dragon reared its hind legs, pushing off the rocky ground as he lifted his wings.

If you want to know what her sword is based on, here is the link. Her sword has much more pizzazz than the one pictured because she is royalty. xD Let's just send a silent prayer for Aegon in the next chapter. He's gonna need it because someone has unresolved trauma.

Hello drawing friends. This wacky looking contraption is the Tour Box, which I bought several months ago but couldn’t use until physical therapy got my arm back into shape (it’s a process).
This is not a sponsored post. I just love this damn thing.
I draw with one hand on a tablet, and use this with my non-dominate hand as basically a kajillion keyboard shortcuts on a tactile surface.
Each button is programmable to specific programs (so Photoshop can have a set, AfterEffects can have a different set, etc.)
It looks complicated, it is not.
It takes about 20 minutes to get used to it, fiddling with the default shortcuts provided and reprogramming them to what makes sense for you (this is as easy as setting up any other keyboard shortcut, you go into a menu and hit buttons).
There is a bluetooth version, which in retrospect I wish I’d coughed up the extra few bucks for, but that is only for desktop cable management reasons.
The knobs turn and are also buttons, so you can say “use this wheel for brush size, and when I press it, do yadda-yadda” and “use this other wheel for zoom in/out, and when I press it, do other-yadda-yadda”
Multiplied by however many buttons.
You can also combine buttons if you need more shortcuts.
The tactile areas on the keys (and shape) make it really, really easy to keep straight. I do not find myself pressing the wrong button often, and when I do, it is more a learning thing “oh yeah I set it up as...”
Button profiles export and import, meaning as you customize them, you can send them to a cloud-based backup and not lose them when Ah-doe-bee says “hey, we’re going to change everything. For reasons.”
I am writing this because I’ve been spending the last week or so using the Brush tool to fill in large swaths of things (this takes forever) then realized “oh wait I can set up the bottom “up/down/left/right” to “lasso tool, deselect, fill in foreground, fill in background” and thus fill in broad flat areas of color about 10x faster than before.
give them a holler

Hello! I'm so inspired to start a Mod because of your mk mod, can I ask what app do you use to make them? I really really wanna learn because of you🥹
Hey there! And that's awesome to hear, love it when others wanna learn how to mod.
I use several apps for my mods.
Firstly, you're gonna need to download thethiny's hook if you've never done so. This way, you can use mods. Never use this one as it's one heck of a way to get your account flagged and banned. Basically never allow anything that messes with the main games application onto your computer (it's also a good way to get a virus). That's why a majority use hooks. It does exactly that: hooks onto it.
Secondly, you're going to need the models, gear, skins, etc from the game. I made a short post here that tells you how to do that. Within that same post, I mentioned a tut or 2 about using Blender. Make sure you're using Blender 3.6 otherwise, the custom editor will not work with your custom/modded models.
Speaking of custom editor (UE), you're gonna need to be logged into your github account and enroll/join team Epic Games to be able to access the download for it.
If you need help setting up the custom editor and with Blender, let me know. If you're not bringing anything new into the game (like a whole new model that wasn't in the game) then it's like a 5 minute thing, but if you're adding something from another game (never add in anything that's copyrighted; paid 3d models from like Daz, etc), then you're gonna have to learn weight paint, UV editing and how to merge textures as models are limited material wise.
Example:
Tumblr media
You will need a few plugins for Blender to be able to import and export your models properly.
It's all rather confusing at first, and yeah it takes a lot to get mods working in MK1. But after awhile, and through trial and error, you'll get the hang of it.

Olympia Soiree Office Room
So, yk that project I planned like a year ago about making otome environments in 3D and intractable?
After a year of my game dev college program and a load of extra knowledge from Youtube and Twitch, I made it happen. Here is my first room built out of sooo many more to go, but damn I'm finally good enough to start doing this!
Here is a video of me running around in play mode (using wasd and mouse) in Unreal Engine 5:
Comparison photo: original Olympia Soiree Switch screenshot (left), my Unreal screenshot (right)

Modelling process: Modelled and UV unwrapped in Blender, textures painted in Substance Painter:

TO WATCH ALL THIS HAPPEN, CHECK OUT MY TWITCH CHANNEL! THANK YOU
twitch_live
Now, rambles as usual:
Jesus Christ that took long and lot of work... even had to get a new pc cuz old one couldn't handle Unreal5 and Substance paint, had to upgrade...
Had to learn sooo many new things, before this I only knew how to model 3D objects. I had to learn how to UV unwrap, entire process of Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 5.
In modelling, I had to learn the low to high poly workflow, and edge shading settings. That's the only new stuff I learned.
UV Unwrapping learning wasn't too difficult cuz the UVs didn't have to be perfect. Substance was gonna be good enough to handle them. Textile density and all that is still new and I'm still trash haha but it did the job for now.
Substance Paint tho.... had to learn all from importing low poly mesh, baking the high poly into texture maps, how to paint, masking, allllll of that, and finally export to get the 4 textures above.
Unreal 5 intro was a solid few days of pain. Starting from navigating the interface, dealing with importing meshes, textures and making them into materials, landscape & foliage generation (that I didn't use for this project yet), lighting settings, colliders, bit of blueprint.... yep but thank god I knew some Unity so it wasn't terrible.
SO... ik a lot of things still need work and missing. The books on the shelf are unfortunate cuz they weren't properly baked in Substance Painter. Some little props like books and stuff are not yet made either. There's a lot of weird edges and shading issues on the model. The lighting and stuff still needs a bit of work as well, it's not right on yet.
But,,, damn I'm soooo happy for what I was able to achieve, I didn't think I could do it this early! When I played it in the engine for the first time, it felt soooo real, I felt like I was in the game universe. I'm very excited to keep making more, and getting better with this stuff!
In the far future, I'll export it as an exe so you guys can try it out as well!
Next up in future again is probably rooms in comte's mansion, Sakamaki's house rooms, some piofiore rooms, and continuing with Olympia Soiree. Those interiors seem the easiest to start with.
comment to be tagged in future updates of this project!

if you're still doing the headcanon meme: Caranthir and ♦ (quirks/hobbies)? (-vidumavi)
For this ask meme.
I do like the fanon that he’s into textile arts, though something other than embroidery to set him apart from Miriel. He is interested in the less flashy aspects, like processing the raw materials. This also translates to his fashion sense. He likes very high quality materials and understatement, as I said here, “If you have taste, you know he’s classy. If you don’t, he just looks plain. And he is judging you.”
His favourite physical activity is swimming. As I wrote about here (again borrowed from Dawn Felagund), he goes for icy swims in Lake Helevorn. It helps keep his temperament cool. He also likes hiking.
Though viticulture and winemaking are popular in Valinor, he only gets into it in Beleriand. Whenever he can, he personally oversees the production of wine exports from Thargelion. His 300-year-old vineyards are one of his worst losses in the Dagor Bragollach.
Based on his hobbies and his apparent expertise, many assume he’s a bit of a snob. And he can be. But he actually is better and more knowledgeable about them than most people. If he does encounter someone who surpasses him in skill, he will show them respect and will learn what he can from them. He is also aware of what he’s not knowledgeable about (like he will never give Maglor criticism of his poetry or music, though Maglor will try to draw it out of him). He learned this behaviour from observing Fëanor trying to present himself as an expert on everything.
If he’s not naturally interested in something, it’s very hard for him to give a shit about it. This is the case with Dwarven culture, hence his “haughtiness” towards them.
He doesn’t like not being good at things, so few people will know about a new hobby until he’s become a master of it.

Hi friend, I wonder if you or one of your followers would have any advice to offer on a writing issue. I’ve always been interested in writing but internalised young that it was something to be ashamed of, so I haven’t done much. I got back into writing fanfic a few years ago and have written a few things since then, but the longest was only about 14,000 words.
I’ve also been thinking about an original fiction story during this time, and I come back to it periodically. I’ve got a few chapters, scraps of scenes, a verrrrry basic outline of the plot, and pages of notes and half-ideas and questions etc etc. Every time I go back to it, it feels really big and hard and intimidating and I run away pretty quickly. And of course there’s the perpetual ‘you think you can write a book?’ self-criticism.
I don’t think I’m being too naively optimistic in the ‘oh, I could totally write a book’ kind of way. I know that it’s hard for most people and it’s a skill and you develop the same way you do in any other job. I guess I’m just. Hoping for some guidance that will stop me feeling quite so much like I’m drowning whenever I think about it. Something to help me keep going to the point that I’ve written the damn thing, even if it’s terrible and gets put in a deep dark hole on completion and never sees daylight again. Even practical advice on the step by step process. I’ve tried using scrivener, for example, but i’m on an iPad and it feels really unintuitive to me (and I’m worried I’m misplacing work).
Thanks in advance <3
--
First, read more Kindle Unlimited erotica, and not the well-reviewed stuff. Those will quickly disabuse anyone of the idea that all published authors know how to run spellcheck, never mind know how to write.
Second, I think Scrivener is extremely useful, but mostly in the computer version for fancy export settings. It's a program with a massive learning curve, and most of its really great features are things you use after the first full draft is written or even after revisions.
Third, writing is mostly about managing emotions and time in order to have stamina.
Gosh... this one is hard to lick. I had the same problems, and I'm still figuring out how to put into words all the techniques I learned for my Patreon blog.
Set timers and work in chunks without worrying about word count, then look at your word count later to convince your brain you've made progress. Convincing your brain you're succeeding and that it's therefore worth continuing is a lot of it.
For me, having a very detailed and complete outline of the whole thing before I start writing helps me be efficient and know how far through I am.

How to Start a Podcast
Part 1
The second article Sydney kindly gave me is How to Start a Podcast by buzzsprout. Buzzsprout is also a hosting site, which you need when you start a podcast, so they have to know their stuff (according to the article, since 2009 they've helped three hundred thousand podcasts launch, which is impressive).
Buzzsprout breaks the process into ten actionable steps.
Develop a concept.
Define goals
Pick a theme/topic (they provide a whopping seventy-five in this article linked)
Find a niche
Name it (they have provided this article for further reading)
2. Choose a format
I didn't think about this before I read this article, but there are different ways to present podcasts- the article mentions interview, cohosted, scripted non-fiction, news, educational, and scripted fiction (and I will provide audio drama help as I conduct my own research and get information from podcasters about it).
The article goes over the 'optimal' podcast episode length, with some statistics, but the only thing that seems to be important they put in the first sentence: "Make your episodes as long as they need to be and no longer."
They also talk about an episode release schedule, with more stats.
3. Set up recording equipment
Of course they talk about microphones, including another article all about that aspect of podcasting, but apparently there are different types of microphones. I never knew that. They go somewhat in-depth about the different kinds, so I'll leave the technical reading to you.
4. Choose software
The article also talks about different software, from recording to editing. They give a few different options in the article, with links to each. I'm not sure if they get commissions based on how many people click through, so I'll leave you to go there to give them some love.
5. Record your first episode.
The article further breaks the process into smaller steps.
A) Write an outline (with further reading that includes templates)
B) Pick your recording room wisely
Before Sydney's post, I didn't know that sound travels different off of hard and soft surfaces, though I guess in retrospect I should have figured (echos in canyons, for example). I didn't realize it would make a big difference, but I guess it does.
C) Connect your equipment and set up your software
This is important- make sure you hit 'record' and everything's plugged in, folks.
D) Microphone technique
If you're going to speak into a microphone, learn to do it right.
E) Test different recording styles
Test for quality.
6. Edit
They provide an article for further reading. In the main article, they break it into broad steps.
A) Make sure the intro and outro are engaging
Hook the listener right away.
B) Edit for content, then everything else.
Start with big cuts, then move smaller.
C) Fade between tracks
Apparently, cutting audio can sometimes make clicks and pops in the recording. Who knew?
D) Create a punch list
I guess this is a to-do list.
Then when all that's done, you export it! They throw a bit of technical jargon at you (what the heck is an ID3 tag?) but thankfully, it seems to be fairly simple with this podcasting host site. I'm not sponsored by them, it just seems easy enough for beginners.
7. Create podcast artwork.
They also include five tips for that.
A) Visually communicate the subject
B) Design for a variety of sizes
C) Don't use too many words or fonts
D) Avoid 'podcast imagery' (microphones, for example)
E) Keep your brand consistent
They provide a few sites for people to create artwork, so that's cool.
8. Set up podcast hosting
To be honest, this confused the Hell out of me. But there are a few videos about it they linked at the end of the step, so feel free to read the full article and watch them.
9. Get listed in podcast directories
More technical stuff, but I guess that you need the last step- hosting- to actually get onto Spotify or Apple podcasts or any other site/app.
10. Launch and grow
The article goes over two ways to launch- grand and soft- and a few other things like imposter syndrome. It talks about seven marketing tips.
A) Tell friends and family
B) Create a buzzsprout ad
C) Post episodes on social media
D) Join groups and forums
E) Cross-promote with other podcasters
F) Overcast ads
G) Create a call to action
The article also recommends celebrating, and I'm always down for a celebration. Don't be embarrassed it's about your own achievements, or feel like it's needlessly self-congratulatory or self-centered. It seems like a ton of work, so give yourself some credit!

okay! this took a bit to type out, but here we are!
disclaimer: my way might not work for you and that’s okay! there’s no right or wrong to make gifs, so long as you enjoy the way you make them then that’s all that counts. this is only a detailed look into my own personal process and things i’ve learned along the way. i'm also an idiot who sometimes doesn't know what he's talking about, so if something doesn't make sense let me know so i can fix it!
but these are some of the things i'll be going into a little more detail than before:
tools
importing & converting to smart object
smart filters
coloring (lighting, basic, and gradient)
exporting
tools
there are a few things i use in the process, some new and some old. whether you want to use them is entirely optional, given that it can be a lot to take in at once.
photoshop 2024
if you use an older version of photoshop, then i think the layout is similar to newer versions. though iirc some older versions don’t have the timeline function so you might have to look that up yourself since i’m not familiar with any ps version without it.
handbrake
i only use handbrake if the recorded video is super long. usually i try to record each scenery shot (4-8 seconds at a time) or an entire cutscene so i don’t have to use handbrake to trim the video. if i do, then i have the settings set to export as super hq with 60 fps, deselecting align a/v start and passthru common metadata. the rest i leave alone.
vapoursynth
this is really useful and makes coloring easier imo. you can download it from the official site, but i found a portable version (i have the 200722 one) for windows here. i’m not sure how to set it up for mac users, and, truthfully, to this day i still don’t know how to use it entirely. i just followed a tutorial i i found on youtube and only changed the amount for the denoise filter and turned off the sharpen filter since i do that in photoshop itself. so it’s trial and error, and i’m erroring a lot sometimes ajdkjasvjdas. it’s also where i crop the video to my preferred dimensions, unless you choose to crop in ps.
jsfiddle code playground
if you want to have the text in the tumblr post be a gradient, then type whatever you want in the first box on the bottom right, change the color from red to your starting color of choice, then the same of the green for the ending color. hit run, copy the code, and paste it inside the text post while in html mode. ngl, i stared at the site for like ten minutes before i figured out how to use it asjdjasdasd
nvidia shadowplay
i use shadowplay since it comes with my laptop’s gpu, set to record in 1080p60. i’ve seen other giffers use obs for recording, but i don’t have any experience with it. there are scenepacks and gameplay walkthroughs on many sites, which you can use as long as you have the uploaders permission and credit them as they ask! please don't steal their videos!
reshade
i’ve started using reshade recently to tone out the blue tint of the game and sharpen it up a bit more. it makes a big difference and helps with coloring if you start out with near neutral colors. the effects i use are: • deband • clarity • sharpcontrast • emphasize • amd fidelityfx contrast adaptive sharpening • fxaa • prod_80_04_colorisolation • adaptivetonemapper i'm pretty sure some of these are redundant, but i’m too lazy to go back and see which ones i don’t need lol. but it’s all personally preference with how you want the game to look, and there are many effects to choose from.
importing & converting to smart object:
my preferred method is the video frames to layers, which is: file > import > video frames to layers, and then select the video. if you use vapoursynth, then there might be duplicates frames (or at least there are for me) so when the popup window appears i check the box to limit the frames to how ever many duplicates there are of each frame. usually in my case, it’s three.
after the video has been imported, i select all frames in the timeline and change the frame delay to either 0.03-0.04 depending on how fast or slow i want the gif to be. for converting to smart object, i recorded my own action set to save time by clicking on a couple of buttons, but the process is: select all layers currently > convert frame animation > convert to smart object.
let me know if you want the action set! it saves a lot of time in the process
smart filters
i don't think sharpening before or after coloring matters, but definitely do not sharpen before cropping if you haven't done already.
vapoursynth combined with the in game reshade sharpening effects doesn’t require as much sharpening as i normally use. just note that it varies from scene to scene, and whatever you're giffing. these are just the settings i used for the pirates’ cove set.:
smart sharpen #1: 500% with a radius of 0.2 px
smart sharpen #2: 10% and 10 px radius
gaussian blur: 0.7 px at 30% opacity
add noise: 1% uniform at 30% opacity
Tumblr media
on to the coloring, which i'm breaking this up into three sections: lighting, basic coloring, and gradient coloring, with a brief description and the result after each section.
something to note is that all coloring is personal preference, and how you want your gifs to look. if you're just starting your giffing journey, here's a site i bookmarked that explains pretty well the adjustment layers and what they do if you have questions for how they work. but i'd be more than happy to answer any that you guys have!
lighting:
brightness/contrast:
with this, i’ve found that changing the blending mode to screen brightens it up well enough without having to move any on the sliders. if it’s too bright, then lowering the opacity should do the trick.
curves:
before, i used the white and black point with the eyedropper tool, but now i’ve started using the auto function that can be found in the four horizontal bars in the top right of the adjustment properties. i choose the find dark & light colors options and check the enhance brightness and contrast box. if it’s too bright or tinted too much one color, then i fiddle with the rgb curves individually to get it as neutral as i can.
levels:
with levels there’s not much to adjust other than moving the sliders for the shadows and midtones to give it a little more contrast.
Tumblr media
basic coloring:
selective color #1:
for the first selective color set to absolute, i use it for the white/black colors to make them as white and black as possible. increasing the black can make it too dark, so i limit the increase by two or three. sometimes i change neutral if it needs it, after all the coloring is done if it still looks too much of one color that the other adjustment layers can’t fix. i don’t know exactly what the difference is between absolute and relative is, i just remember it being part of a tutorial i read and have been doing it ever since.
color balance:
i only change this as minimally as possible, usually one for cyan, one for magenta, and one for blue for all tones. sometimes i increase it more, but it all depends on how you want it.
selective color #2:
the last selective color i use it for all the other colors, set to relative, usually for reds, yellows, and blues. if there are people in the gif, then i focus mostly on skin tones, bringing out reds and yellows to make it look as natural as possible. a hue/saturation layer can be useful to even out darker skin tones by lowering the saturation for red or yellow. with scenery, i boost whatever dominate color pops up while lowering the other colors by adding in a lot of white if the lighting is bright, or adding black for dim scenes. again, if it needs it, adding in an optional hue/saturation layer, but this time to lower the saturation for less prominent colors.
Tumblr media
gradient coloring:
if you’re satisfied with the coloring of your gif, then this step can be skipped!
i’ve recently fallen in love with using gradient fills. there are several preset gradients available, but if you search around online there are other gradients available to download and use. or you can make your own gradient of your colors of choice.
for me, i often use blue/pink or blue/purple gradient fills. the blue/pink preset is the one i used in this case.
gradient fill:
after adding the gradient fill and choosing the colors, i change the blending to soft light and lower the opacity anywhere from 30%-50%. with darker skin tones it might be tricky as it would involve more tweaking of the settings until it looks nice.
gradient map:
i follow it up with a gradient map to help with the sharpness (i think? i’ve forgotten exactly) set to soft light again with varying opacity given how dark the scene is.
vibrancy
this is completely optional here, but i like the colors cranked to the max, boosted to 80% or slightly lower. some minor adjustments might have to be made after this, usually with it being too red or possibly yellow.
exposure
the final adjustment layer to top it all off is exposure. i like my gifs to have a matte-ish look, so i change the offset anywhere from +0.0010 to +0.0030. if the gif is still a little on the dark side, increasing the exposure helps.
the gradient coloring takes the longest to get the colors to look good, but i love my colors so much and the end result is so worth it.
Tumblr media
logo:
this is optional of course, but since there's quite a few people out there who love to steal gifs, it's probably a good idea to put your logo on the gif to help deter them. mine's simple and uses either the font code bold or moon. i have it saved as a png so that i can go to file > place embedded and resize it to my liking before moving it to the bottom right corner.
but for me those are too many steps to do for each gif, especially if i’ve been working on them for hours. so i open up an old psd with the same dimensions and duplicate the logo layer for each gif to save time.
exporting:
under file > save for web (legacy) the window for it should pop up. i don't usually mess around too much with the settings here, keeping it at selective diffusion and changing the matte to none.
sometimes the size will be too large for tumblr's limit since i like bright colors, and depending on how many frames are in each gif, most of them end up on the large side. i have to fight photoshop sometimes to make it work by either trimming a few frames or messing slighting with the lighting. occasionally i end up having to go back and reimport the videos to divide the frames equally if i don't want to trim any off. it’s a pain, and it’s something i should honestly try to plan out before that point lmao.
but if you're satisfied with how it looks, save, and you're good to post!

Both of your series give me art zoomies, but I was wondering if you could enlighten someone who plans to start their own va stuff (eventually 😓). What does your recording/editing process look like?
Big caveat: I'm not an expert. Entirely self-taught. All trial and error and YT tutorials. But I'm happy to share what I've learned 🌻 1. Set-up: a. Microphone: Rode NT-1 with a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface b. Software: Garageband (for most things) + Audacity (for fixing things) c. "Studio": I have the microphone on a floor stand in my walk-in closet. I also recently added a sound blanket as a curtain on the outside of my closet. I found it does make a difference which way I point the mic: away from the window that opens to the street.
A fancy microphone matters far less than the recording environment, I have found. It's important to check for things like appliances, fans, vents, etc. that might make extra sound. I'm pretty picky about getting a clean, crisp recording. (For example, if a car passes on the road as I'm recording a line, I do it again.) The reason the closet is a good place to record is because the fabric absorbs the sound. 2. Recording a. I record each character on her own track in GarageBand, and whenever I can, I will record as much content for the same character as I can (i.e. over multiple episodes).
b. It's much easier in the editing process to record A-A-A, B-B-B, C-C-C style for lines rather than A-B-C, A-B-C. In other words, if I mess up a line or think I might want a different take, I just immediately redo it as many times as I have to (rather than recording the whole script in one go, getting to the end, and starting over). c. It's helpful to have a nonverbal signal that shows up as a spike on the recording. (I learned that from Erik's little Audacity tutorial video.) So, if I know I have a section that I want to mark for some reason (ex. I know I messed up, I was doing foley, etc.), I just snap my fingers. d. Foley: If I have to make my own sound effects, I usually do not record them simultaneously as I act. It's much easier to make changes later if they're separate. It's not easy to 'extract' sounds. 3. Editing a. First, I export each track/character from GarageBand to Audacity and run the Noise Reduction and Declick plugins. Then I save those and bring them back into GarageBand. This step gets rid of most of the background noise. b. Then, I start lining everything up and clipping the recordings into regions. I usually make an extra track I call "Discard" so I can line up my back-up options for certain lines. (Usually, I'm just deleting the things I don't want but..sometimes I can't decide so I line one up in the Discard track in the same position/timestamp.) c. I usually add the sound effects and soundscapes at the same time. It's a bit more tedious to line everything up all at once, but much prefer it over going back and adding sound effects later, after I finish the voices. If you just have a few effects, it's doable to add them afterwards, but...timing matters for everything.
I get most of my sound effects and soundscapes from Freesound.org and sometimes I get them from Pixabay. Pixabay is also good for finding royalty-free music. Every once in a while, there's a specific sound I need that I can't find for free. For those, I get a license from Pond5 (which I like because it has a subscription like most stock libraries, but you can also buy what you need à la carte). d. Because I'm used to accessing MIDI for my musical projects, I've also found that that's a fun way to make special effects, especially when I need m a g i c. I just sift through the MIDI library in GarageBand (or use some plug-in instruments) until I find the sound I want, and I can change it up by playing different combinations on the MIDI keyboard. e. I spend a lot of time (probably too much) making micro-adjustments to the Automation. For example, I like the soundscape to fade in at the beginning and out at the end. And I make corrections--mainly Volume and Gain--for the main vocal tracks. That's also my way of keeping the SFX tracks down to just one or two: I can change the volume of each individual section. I'm not sure how helpful it is, but if you're curious, here's a screenshot of the next Ruby audio. (This is an unusually high number of tracks, even for a Ruby project.)
Tumblr media
4. Finishing
I do not consider myself a 'video editor'. I like designing the thumbnails, but I wanted something where it would be super easy to make an interesting still image and just stick a sound file with it. Canva is good for that, and it's what I always use now. The only time I broke down and used iMovie to edit was for the Ruby vs. Carol puppet show, and I still finished that up in Canva. These are just the basics, but there are some other tips and tricks when it comes to different effects and stuff. (Musical projects are a completely different method. In a lot of ways, they're easier because ✨tempo✨. I still use GarageBand, and my recording set-up is the same, but how I record and edit is much different.) Note: You do NOT need to have all of this equipment right away to get started. A decent microphone does make a difference, but other than that, everything else is extra.

Hey I have a question? How do you produce such high-quality gifs. It's so cool and I've been trying but it usually just doesn't come out well
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thanks! I’ve been making gifs for about 2 years, so I’m by no means a pro. Sometimes it feels like I’m just throwing things at the video until it looks the way I want it to look.
Tumblr media
I didn’t use any guides, so it took a lot of trial and error to learn. Just to compare, here’s the first gif I ever made!
Tumblr media
My advice for starting to get into gif-making is, you gotta really choose a media or character you love because the process is time consuming and it can be frustrating if it doesn't end up the way you wanted right away. Plus, you’re gonna stare at the same picture for like a loooong time. Over time, I’ve gotten a lot faster at making sets. Like that killua x start over gifset only took me an hour to make, but I barely edited that one. I normally spend a few days on each set.
I still don’t completely get photoshop, so I don’t feel like I can give a tutorial for it. But I do make a lot of gifs on my phone so here’s a more in depth look at that.
For starters, I always get video footage in 1080P. Either download or record the footage you want to turn into gifs. I’m gonna use Killua as an example. Here’s a picture of what the clip looks like before I’ve done anything.
Tumblr media
I find that the shorter the clip, the easier it is to make it smooth and crisp. This clip is only 5 seconds long. I try to keep my clips 5 seconds or shorter. I can do longer clips, but then I’d have to shorten the frames used and the speed of the gif (frames per second), which I don’t like doing. Next, I crop it. You want to crop before you start editing.
Tumblr media
After that, I can start recoloring. There’s a couple good apps I like using for this. VideoDay and InShot are pretty good, but they’re pay to use. The free one Apple provides in the photos app is good, too. I’ve got a different coloring style for most of my sets. But I mainly focus on making dark colors darker, making colors more saturated so they pop, and brightening the video. On VideoDay & Inshot you can find this setting under Filter. Then go to Adjust. This is what it looks like after boosting up the contrast, saturation, brightness, shadows, and definition. Mess around with different settings until you come up with something you like.
Tumblr media
Now, I recolor it a second time with filters. Sometimes I use Inshot or VideoDay, but I mostly use the app ImgPlay. ImgPlay is what I’ll be using to actually turn this video into a gif. I use different filters depending on what colors I want to stand out. CL2 and HW3 are a couple favorites. For this set I use HW3. Then I added more contrast, saturation, and sharpened it as high as it could go.
Tumblr media
Now that it looks pretty, time to make it move smoothly. Through a lot of trial and error, I’ve found that these settings work okay. I have it set to 90 frames for this clip. For frames, I usually try to keep it within 80-90 frames (or 30-80 if it’s a shorter clip). If I push it past that, like say 100 frames, it’ll start to look blurry once I condense it.
Tumblr media
For speed, I either use .04 seconds or .05 seconds. For frames per second, I always go with 20 FPS at least. This will push up the frame count, so you’ll need to make the clip shorter. You can do that by using the slide bar or that little area with 9 squares in the top right corner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now it’s time to export! Just click on save and GIF size. Set the loop to infinity and size to 10 MB. Tumblr has a limit on GIF size, so it needs to be 10MB or under. You can also click on GIF dithering to make the colors blend a bit more.
Tumblr media
And we’re done! Hope it wasn’t too confusing and that I explained myself clearly! There’s a lot more cool effects you can do once you get the hang of video editing. This is by no means a strict guide or anything! Heck, even I don’t follow this exactly and I try changing things around, seeing what works and what doesn’t. Gif-making can be super fun, so I hope you keep at it! 😊💖

Hello, old friend~ Let's get reaquanted
Hello again people of Tumblr, this is about to be one hell of an info dump but I feel after being gone so many years- it's necessary. I used to be on here chronically many moons ago but left when the fire nation known as Yahoo attacked and cleaned house. Once Tumblr became a ghost town I left and rejoined with many of my favorite spicy artists who had resorted to setting up shop on Twitter. But now even that has started going downhill. For a while it didn't bother me, I could ignore the rebranding and idiotic Moderation well enough. I was sad to see many of my favorite artists again having to pack up their things and try to find a new platform, but this time I couldn't follow them because they all use Instagram or Bluesky. Bluesky was too daunting and Instagram is owned by Facebook so that was an instant hell no. I planned to ride out my time on Twitter until I discovered an attack on spicy writing I was unprepared for. Google Docs has been acting fishy for a while, but now they've started deleting whole docs and locking people out of their accounts over spicy content. I don't have a lot of spice in my writing because all I have are OC sheets, and it's not relevant 90% of the time. You gotta work to learn that stuff through RP. But, now I'm left not knowing where any of my stuff can be kept safe. I can hoard my art for a little while longer if Twitter cracks down, but my year's worth of character info that I barely remember on a good day can't be so easily stored unless I want to shell out cash for a program. Even then, most programs don't easily export files, so it would impede free sharing. Instead, I have decided to start here again! I want to find a community, share OC lore, and prevent myself from forming an echo chamber for ideas. All of my old RP stomping grounds dried up years ago. Which was fine by me, I began RPing on Facebook in middle school then moved to MSParp in high school. If you were there, you'd understand why it didn't bother me to leave. I was getting older and was growing out of the environment. I grabbed the few good people I kept in contact with from MXPR, the rebrand of MSParp, and ran like a bandit. Years later only one RP still stands, and I love it, but I miss the groups and cool stories different people could make. I've been told Discord is a great place to find RP partners, but first, you have to find a server, and then most of the time they lack strict enough rules and regulations for me to feel safe. I never got into the RP scene on Tumblr, I was too skittish back then and still am. But the remaining people on this site are likely pretty dedicated and a good group to try learning from. I hope to find cool people to be OC gremlins with. If anyone has any pointers right out of the gate please share! I have a lot of Tumblr etiquette to relearn, so I won't be upset if there's new stuff I should know or be wary about, or good things to look forward to like new features or navigational tips!

Hello!
First of all, happy new year and congrats on 1000 followers!
I just want to say I love your blog, and it's one of my favourite blogs on tumblr. You're a very important part of the GO fandom, so keep being you :). Your work is amazing; and I really love your video edits (I confess I haven't found the time to read your fanfics yet but it's definitely on my list, I promise).
I've been kind of wanting to try gifmaking for a while, and I read your posts about video editing/gifmaking. If it's not too much trouble, would you be willing to share a few more tips? (Doesn't have to be that detailed, just a few simple tricks for beginners).
Thank you and have a nice day/night!
Oh Anon, you're a sweetie. Thank you!! I'm so pleased that this blog can bring joy to others. All of you are so lovely, it makes everything so much more fun!
I'll share whatever wisdom I can but I'm still a bit of a newbie really; I've only used Davinci Resolve for about 6 months~ or so, so if anyone else has any other tips, please add!!
1) I would recommend Davinci Resolve to anyone who wants to get into video editing as it's free & quite similar to Vegas Pro (which I do have, but personally I prefer Davinci).
2) If you want to make GIFs, I'd recommend creating a project using the settings I use here, then saving it as your 'template' so every time you want to make a new GIF, you don't have to re-do your settings because it'll be saved on that project.
3) You can create multiple tracks - I use this for overlaying audio (and turning off video on that track), or for adding text or effects generators. This is what my War of Hearts edit looks like in DaVinci:
Tumblr media
I used track 3 & 4 for text Track 2 for just audio (you can see I turned off video) Track 1 was my 'main' video & audio track Track A5 was my music
This is what The Book of Love looks like, you can see it was only 3 tracks (music, video, text)
Tumblr media
4) The marker function. This is handy for leaving notes for yourself or sectioning things off while you work, but you can also render those markers to create 'chapters' automatically when you upload it to YouTube. Add a marker with the little blue button, then double click your market & name it. You can use different colours too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you render it, tick 'Chapters from Markers' and make sure the colour matches the markers you want to make into chapters, then export.
Tumblr media
5) Get yourself some new fonts!! I downloaded free fonts from Google [link], installed them, restarted Davinci, and they were ready to use!
6) The 3rd tab. When you click on a clip, you'll get lots of options. PLAY WITH THEM. Just start changing settings & observe what it does. I cannot emphasis enough - just play with Davinci and see what happens. Don't aim to make it something, just aim to learn. Whack a clip down & start putting effects, zoom, cropping, etc on it.
You can colour the image on the 5th tab via colour wheels. Don't worry if it's silly! Again, just click around and see what happens! Here, I'll show you me playing with colours & effects:
Tumblr media
honestly it looks like a meme with the text
7) Speaking of the 5th tab, I ONLY LEARNT THIS LAST WEEK WHICH IS EMBARRASING, but you can copy the colouring you've done to 1 clip onto other clips. Select the clips you want to colour, then scrollwheel click on the clip WITH the colourings you want.
8) Use your arrow keys on the keyboard (⬅️➡️⬇️⬆️) to move along your timeline. It's a lot easier to find the right frame, instead of using your mouse. Here's some basic keyboard shortcuts:
Cut: [Ctrl + X]
Copy: [Ctrl + C]
Undo: [Ctrl + Z]
Redo: [Ctrl + Shift + Z]
Paste: [Ctrl + V]
Select All: [Ctrl + A]
Play/pause [Space]
9) This seems obvious but I have lost hours of editing because I didn't do this. When you start a new project, SAVE IT (File>Save Project) as then it'll start autosaving the project.
10) I would heavily recommend watching some YouTube tutorials if you've never video edited before. I also started out with a pre-installed Windows 'Video Editor' (I think it's called Clipchamp now?) which is extremely basic, so it allowed me to learn without getting overwhelmed with all the bells and whistles that Davinci has. If DaVinci is too much right away, try something easier, but you might get frustrated as it's less control & options (only 1 track, limited colouring options, limited effects/transitions, can't view frame by frame, etc).
In summary: Play around with your editing software & see what happens. Watch edits, look at GIFs- observe how they edit as it might inspire you & help put some of your new skills/knowledge into context. If there's anything I can help with, just drop me a message! Good luck & happy editing ❤️

So... This is a little out of nowhere and has nothing to do with my other posts but I watched (these) (two) videos on Sonic.EXE and felt the itch to make my own.
Trigger warning: Blood, Mild Body Horror, Descriptions of Disturbing Events
![PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK]!
Meet Sonic.CHAR, AKA Charic!:
Tumblr media
He's just a sketch, but I have a bunch of ideas including stuff for two games {See Minigames for gameplay concept} The first would be a 2D game where you just play five minigames, then choose to either kill Charic or "Play Forever", and Play Forever leads into the second game.
The basic plot for game two would be that you've been sucked into the game now. The second game would include 3D renditions of the minigames, interspersed with lore details told to you by Charic himself. There would be a larger focus on the story and character of CHAR in the second game.
(Minigames:)
Find the Chao - Just a hide and seek style minigame where you find 10 chao. BTW, they're dead. Gotta keep the atmosphere somehow.
Cooking - A fairly simple cooking minigame where Charic walks you through the recipes.
Duo-Dancing - Plays sorta like FNF, but with the context of dancing with this poor sap.
Obstacle Course - Real simple. Charic set up an obstacle course and you have to run through it on a timer.
Fishing - I dunno what to tell you. It's a fishing minigame.
(Backstory:)
Charic, or Sonic.CHAR was an experimental AI that managed to wise up and export his file to keep his home safe. He was intended to be Sonic. Essentially a way for kids to meet their fictional idol.
He was the only of these experiments to be made yet, so his friends were still scripted. He didn't take it well. One of the flaws and reasons he wasn't considered "ready" yet was that he couldn't control his speed, so he'd hurt people on accident.
Don't worry though! He always fixes his mistakes ;] (He taxidermied his friends) They wouldn't ever be perfect again, but he didn't see that, or at the very least, he didn't want to, so he tore out his eyes(Eye? Who knows with Sonic anymore?)
He didn't want to hurt anyone again, so he learned to move slowly and tore his claws out by their roots. He tried something similar with his teeth, but quickly remembered that he needed those. Same with his quills.
He doesn't want to hurt anyone and is desperate to be harmless. He wants a friend! Won't you be that for him?
(Personality:)
He's cautious and kind, but mischievous at times. (For example, the planned opening of the first game, where he jumpscares you, then laughs about it.) He has some major trauma from what he did to his friends and is often delusional - doing things like watching movies or having picnics with them.
He's thoughtful sometimes, like hiding his creepier features when asked. (Hence the blindfold) He loves playing games, but struggles with actually being the one playing, which is why he needs a playmate. He's not bad by any means. Just insane.
(Easter Eggs:)
This will be short because these will just be in one scene for the second game, but essentially, the second game begins with you creating an avatar in a strange closet room. You ring a bell when you're done, Charic comes and gets you, then the minigames start, but you're able to recreate a few of Charic's friends during this. You don't get to play as them, but you can still show Charic.
Amy: "You're do- oh.. Never liked her much anyway.. Pick something else!" Charic slams the door, a teary eyed angry expression evident on his face.
Knuckles: "You're do- oh.. Why are you like this?- Ugh! Pick something else!" Charic slams the door, looking frustrated but sad.
Shadow: "You're do- oh.." Charic shuts the door, a pensive look on his face, then through the door he tells you to, "Pick something else!"
Tails: "You're do- oh.." Charic looks pissed, storming up to you and picking you up by the fluff. "You bastard. THAT'S MY LITTLE BROTHER- Err.." Regret shines through and he puts you down gently. "Just.. Pick something else." He shuts the door. You hear a couple soft sniffles before he collects himself and keeps walking.
(Win Screen:)
Charic applauds you cheerfully, the text, "Congrats!" written behind him. The background includes hand puppet versions of any carcasses around the level.
(Lose Screen:)
The music screeches to a halt and Charic appears in front of you - very close - before backing up and giving a shy smile, encouraging you to try again. The text, "Too bad!" is written behind him for this one.
(Conclusion:)
Yeah, I'm not sure if he even counts as an EXE. It's not in his name, his title, or his personality. He's not a demon or a god, or even an eldritch abomination. Whatever he is though, I'm attached and I think he's cool!
Give me any input you have in the replies/re-blogs, fanart is always appreciated, and as always,
Have fun, and happy scrolling!
