im so tired of literally everything being a reboot or a remake or revival or sequel or whatever nowadays. i dont always hate that sort of thing i can name some adaptations and reboots and stuff that i like but so many of these things arent even GOOD adaptations and the companies making them either wont make anything else or wont bother to promote any of their original shows or movies and to top it all off so many original and unique things get cancelled while the endless pool of disney live action remakes and shitty adaptations continues to grow. i cannot do this anymore velma was the final straw it looks so bad

how you left him in awe every time he heard you calling out for his attention—monsieur neuvillette in a formal setting, but instead referring him as neuvie when in private.

something about it had always made neuvillette's chest just a little bit tightened at the way the name rolled off your tongue oh-so-eloquently, and he often found himself staring at your lips a second longer than what everyone would consider as appropriate.

oh, how he would love to peck your lips, feeling them against his, even for a brief moment.

it was an embarrassing thought sitting at the little corner of his mind. he was ashamed at how easily you had him on your mercy.

"neuvie," your voice came out a tad bit softer after seeing him spacing out—in which was totally not a norm to see him staring far ahead and at you, though not until recently.

"are you alright, love?"

he swore he felt his heart dropped. it was a double kill to him, who recently figured out that he loved you more than he initially thought he would. how endearing of you to call him with such names, it was cute. a perfect adjective to describe you.

"nothing, dear," his voice resonated through the room, and you realised how he looked at the perfect weather illuminating his office through the window.

you looked at him back, skeptical as to why the corner of his mouth seemed to form a fine curve, but you shrugged the feeling as soon as it came. maybe he was happy, considering the sunny and chilly weather outside.

and his feeling mattered to you the most.

"monsieur neuvillette," you called him out again.

this time, neuvillette could barely hide the frown that was about to form on his face. why did you call him that? why the sudden change of attitude? he was confused. especially when he felt the soft touches on his hair.

you were patting his head, occasionally fixing his hair as neuvillette slightly leaned in to feel the warmth only you could exude.

"it is about time for today's trial, chief justice. lady furina must have been waiting for you at the opera house," you gently reminded him, feeling the way his shoulders tensed.

oh—how stupid of him, he thought. he finally understood why you called him by his title, there was sedene all along at the door.

the melusine looked at both of you in amusement, he could tell by the way her tail was wagging.

"another minute, dear?" his voice was low enough, seemingly to avoid the melusine's attention as he sighed.

you beamed a small smile at him, making neuvillette felt ten times heavier to let go of you and go to the court. "no, neuvie," you rubbed soft circles at the back of his hand, and neuvillette fought the urge to intertwine his finger with yours.

he fought the urge to kiss you on your lips—his name sounded so precious coming out from you. it actually pained his heart at how irreplaceable you were in his life. 

"after the court session is over, we can cuddle all we want, yeah?" you pecked his cheek, and neuvillette thought he could die happily if this was the treatment he would get—a reward worth billions of mora if this was what you gave him from cherishing and loving you.

and he would love to hear and love you forever.

inside the fortress of meropide, the only person that could make wriothesley's burdens felt lighter was you, and only you. to see that you enjoyed your time being here—although the fortress was everything except fun and colours—and sometimes helped sigewinne with her infirmary stuff, he felt a part of him was proud at how kind and brave you were. 

wriothesley loved looking at you teasing and babying sigewinne. it was another trait that made him clicked with you so well—despite his profession and the countless dangers he might have brought along.

he remembered the first time you insisted to tag along with him to the infamous underwater prison. no one could enter and exit the fortress whenever they wanted, and you managed to prove him wrong. now that your reputation was well-known within the area, it seemed that the law on permitting outsiders to get into the fortress with thorough screening process didn't really seem to be applicable to you.

every garde recognised you. every staff and people and melusine alike—all had acknowledged you in their work space.

so when you introduced yourself as wriothesley's other half, it was understandable that your name made it in the headlines and became the monthly issue from the steambird.

'after all, the duke doesn't really seem to be the lover type, isn't he?'

"hi, handsome," you waved at wriothesley, who seemed to just finish with an interrogation session with one of the criminals. a stack of papers was in his grip.

his eyes widened at the way you called him with that word which often failed to not make his heart thumped against his chest.

"good evening, darling," he scoffed when he felt the way his voice almost cracked. the random terms of endearment you threw at him had always made his actions cut short and his words to be stuck in his throat. "what are you doing here? did i not say to go back home at 5? it is late."

"mhm," you hummed.

pointing at the clipboard in your right hand which wriothesley had realised was there all along, you explained yourself. "was running an errand for sigewinne. the poor nurse had some troubles so i lent a hand or two," you said while tapping wriothesley's shoulder thrice, feeling proud of yourself for contributing a cent around the fortress.

you then involuntarily fixed his tie, still giving him the proud smile you often wore.

wriothesley sent you a soft smile at that, contradicting the multitude of scars littered across his body.

of course his favourite person was the one who was kind enough to help sigewinne—it was as if you silently repaid sigewinne's past deeds of treating his injuries. how could anyone would not love you for that, he thought.

your heart swelled at the sight. your partner was quite soft at heart when he smiled, despite the roughness he portrayed.

you were staring at his face with those sparkles he never knew could exist in one's eyes. it was too much, but wriothesley thought he would just mentally appreciate the pure loving look you gave him.

"this will do. now my man looks dashing as always."

it took him exactly three seconds to understand what you meant. you were fixing his appearance, and he felt his face became a little bit warmer. my man, he unconsciously repeated the words in his mind.

if sigewinne saw the two of you being so lovey dovey in public—well, maybe both of you were done for.

"the gesture is very much appreciated, darling," he chuckled.

"you are very welcome, sir," you replied, mimicking the small chuckles he sent towards you.

"since both of us have already worked overtime, let us grab a bite?" you swung your arm around his, interlocking with the arm that often held you with such gentleness.

"alright," wriothesley gave in to your suggestion, long forgotten where he should be heading before crossing his path with you. "let us go on a date."

"Why are you staring at me?" You asked Edward while turning to look at him. Currently you too were currently in the woods together. Alone just how you liked it. But his intense eye contact made you feel giggly. You were just trying to read right now.

"What do you mean?" Edward said, basically fluttering his eyelashes in his own little way.

“You know what I mean don’t try to play dumb you sparkly mind reader.” You laugh pushing his shoulders playfully, making him smile.

 “You're just so beautiful you know that?” He said, again staring at you with those loving eyes of his.

“You look like a love-stuck fool.” You said softly reaching up to stroke his check.

“I can’t say that you are wrong. I’ve waited for you for as long as I could remember.. I never thought you would come to me.” Edward said doing the same to your cheek.

“Maybe I just wasn’t born yet.” You laughed in his face. Once again making him smile.

“You are everything I could’ve ever wished for. No matter how long it took you to get here I am forever grateful for you and your love.” He said, pulling you closer into him for a kiss.

The kiss was everything you knew he felt for you. The way his lips moved against yours was intoxicating. The way his cold skin brushed against your warm ones brung a shiver to your body that only would happen with his touch. The way he was always so gentle with you, even though you always would tell him that you can handle it. He can let go. He never did. He wanted to make sure you were safe from anyone and everything. Including himself. 

With these thoughts he pulled away from the kiss. Once again holding himself back.

“You make me crazy.” He said looking at you with dreamy eyes.

His words made you smile like they always do.

“I know. Now can you take me home Charlie is waiting for me.” You stated.

“I wish I could keep you here with me forever.” 

“Too bad you don’t have forever because you refuse to change me but you know.” You said standing up gathering your things.

“Why do you have to bring this up?” Edward said, holding his head in immediate frustration on the topic.

“Because Edward you want forever when you know damn well forever is to not be had unless I am changed. What if one day I decide to go on a roller coaster and the ride falls apart cuz someone left a piece of gum on the track. Or what if I’m running from somebody and I don’t notice and I hit my head on a tree huh Edward? Then what! What will you do?!” You shouted but then backed down once you realized you were screaming at him.

“Carlise will fix it. He’ll always help and do his best-”

“His best may not be enough and you know it.” You said, your eyes following him as he stood up.

“I’d only hope that you would come to forgive me as I joined you in the afterlife, If there be a side for me with you.” Edward said.

You blink away the tears in your eyes that came with his words. You couldn’t bare the thought of Edward killing himself just so he could be with you. Were you really that important to him as he says you are? A part of you believed him. The other part of you said that this couldn’t be. You never thought anyone could love you enough to do something like that to themselves. Thinking of it yourself you don’t believe that you could live without him yourself either. 

It would put a damper on your future of dating forever. The trust issues you always have would become 10x worse. You’d always think back to him. Edward. You’d always compare your potinect lovers to him. From the first moment you laid eyes on Edward Cullen you’ve seen yourself with him. That was your man from the minute you said Hi.

You always wondered if you manifested it or if it was just fate. 

“You’d kill yourself? To be with me?” You questioned frowning a little.

“I’d do anything to be with you y/n.” 

“Besides, turn me?” You said looking up at him to which he sighed in response.

“Your my light, My life, My soul. I couldn't do that to you, you have to understand that.” Edward said, frowning. His eyes searching your face. You could tell he was trying to read your mind but he couldn’t. He never could. You weren't necessarily a shield but everytime he tried to read your mind he’d get hit with a wave of overwhelming thoughts. Everything was always jumbled up. Nothing ever made clear since if you tried. And if he tried for too long the voices or thoughts would start screaming at him forcing him away. At least that's how he explained it. 

“I can try.” 

“Thank you, do you want me to take you home?” He questioned.

“Yeah, make sure I don’t die on the way. You know, I don't want to ruin our couple of years too early. That wouldn’t be so kind of me now would it?” You said giving him a soft smile to try and tell him you were okay with it for now, but also that you weren’t done fighting him for forever and a day.

“You're never gonna stop till I said yes are you?” Edward asked with a slight smile on his face.

“Nope, not until the day I die, Even then who knows I might haunt you.” You said turning your back to him and starting to walk away.

Behind you you heard Edward laugh making you smile even more. You always loved his smile. You loved being the reason for his smiles and laughs. 

“I love you.” He said. You heard him walk with you now.

“I love you too.” And you were left alone with your thoughts and the presence of your sparkly vampire. That you would love till the day that you die.

Konichiwassup mate! How do you do this bright evening! I am simply buzzed with excitement because I've finally managed to shake off my post exam exhaustion after sleeping through one whole day~

I was wondering what kind of medieval/mystic being our Ateez boyfriends might be and here are my thoughts:

1. Hongjoong: Fairy. A garden fairy to be exact. Like LOOK at his tiny ass (we're the same height) HE'S SO SMOL (He's actually pretty tall) HOW CUTE! (Well that's true.)

Also I can imagine him fly around in the garden perfecting the aesthetics of the place. And no, he'll not keep some basic ass fancy grass, nuh uh, natural vegetation and grass😌

2. Seonghwa: a Heavenly Nymph. Bro is gorgeous beyond words. His beauty is so sublime he can NEVER be just a mere earthly being. He'd be the most beautiful nymphs of all but equally as deadly. Crpss him and you might just lose a limb.

Yeosang: Forest Elf. Okay hear me out. LONG BLOND HAIR YEOSANG. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW BEAUTIFUL THE COLOUR GREEN LOOKS ON HIM. But yes he seems like he'll be the forest protector elf. (Maybe Hongjoong and Yeosang play together idk)

4. Yunho: Dragon. Bro is dragon coded. Like he's SO dragon. Ouu but he'll ne such a sweet dragon tho. Maybe he let's all the forest creatures sleep near him during chilly winters since he naturally exudes warmth.

5. Woosan: Nine Tail Foxes. They're a pair. Do not separate. I'm thinking Wooyoung would be the Nine Tailed fox that goes "Ohhh you look delicious. I wonder what you taste like!" And San would be like "Wooyo we talked about not scaring random travellers for fun anymore." T~T The Yin-Yang Foxies

6. Minki: The mountain diety. He's the one in charge of the forest that the boys live in. Though he's just a babie!:(( like one day a random bunny will he minding his business when he comes across Mountain diety Mingi yapping about his problems to a sympathetic Seonghwa while pouting.

7. Jongho: Moon Spirit. He descends down to the forest at night to sing to all the creatures. The animals sometimes bring him gifts like leaves and shiny pebbles. Has kept them all in a secure box back home.

okay i've always thought about demons and darker stuff when it comes to hongjoong but now that you say it.... he fits the concept of a garden fairy so well? tiny lil joong (says i who'd look like a dwarf next to him) with his little trinkets and colours he's so fairy coded actually you've changed my perspective of him.

and seonghwa-- you're absolutely right about this one. prettiest nymph in the area and also the deadliest. too pretty for you. too pretty to belong to the earth. im glad all of us agree on that LOL

i always think fairy when i think of yeosang. fairy or angel. but forest elf is such a cute concept i can def entertain it (esp if it's long blonde hair yeosang wearing the colour green you've found me weakness). he would def be friends with hongjoong, often spotted hanging out with him. seonghwa would sometimes join them hehehehehe

yunho! dragon! coded! TAKE ME HOME!! my gut told me i had to make him a dragon and its worked so well (considering i just became an atiny when i wrote take me home, deciding his animal form should be a dragon is sth im a little proud of). you bet he'd have everyone lined up next to him in the winters for him to keep them warm and snug hoho

omg woosan as foxes yes doesn't help they look like actual foxes. nine-tailed fox duo? even better. yin-yang foxes? im violently sobbing right now. wooyoung would def scare the villagers away only for san to scold him afterwards and he would be like :D

omgg minki mountain deity trust us to give mingi some mighty role when he's literally a babie :(( but yes! yapping about his problems to anyone who sits with him long enough and the mountain creatures be like ah shit here we go again :') sometimes yunho the dragon would find this mountain deity and they would hang out im so soft rn

YOUR MUSIC TASTE IS SO GOOD. all of these songs are fantastic and they fit Otterslip so well,,, i've listened to almost all of them before but i still had to make myself a little playlist to refresh my memory and listen to them with the context of Otterslip in mind. devastating btw, in the best possible way. putting my thoughts below the cut bc they might get a little long!

Toba the Tura:

SUCH a good song. especially for Otterslip. a few lyrics that really stood out to me.

THE LAST ONE ESPECIALLY. that whole ending monologue just SCREAMS Otterslip. the girl he loved vacating to a new place? his daughter dying and going to the afterlife. a mountainous wall of stone to separate themselves from him??? its. a fucking mountain. they live in a mountain. theirs would be the light, his would be the dark. oughghghghg sobs and wails and cries forever

Introduction to the Snow:

what if i cried. man this song is so fucking SAD. and also not in a way. would work fantastic if one wanted to do a really lonesome depressing take on Otterslip's exile. im picturing an animatic with very few pov changes, just Otterslip maybe watching the stars or traveling through the outside of Fallenclan's territory, up until "you'll live forever tonight" and the piano afterwards, then i'm seeing lots of glimpses of his past life in Fallenclan, and the events leading up to Stormsight's death. ougghh

GOD THIS WORKS SO WELL WITH HIS EXILE. "you'll have enough time to spend some time alone" HES LITERALLY ALONE. dice anon youre going to turn me into an Otterslip apologist. hes literally leaving today

jaw drop. a friend of mine introduced me to this band a while back but HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD THIS ONE. this song fits Otterslip so good its crazy. here's a couple lyrics that stick out to me

i'm definitely seeing some hints of Grassroot in this song. maybe he's singing it to her, maybe she's singing it to him, idk but shes There. ouches

i've never heard this song OR this band before and it fucking RULES so first off thanks for pointing me in that direction. second OUGH i can see the Otterslip here. no lyrics in particular stand out to me but the Vibes... man the vibes they fit so well. i can see him singing this to Stormsight, esp since the "the same worms that eat me will one day eat you too" has such a threatening sound to it,,

Poplar St:

MY HEART. god this is so good and it works so well. again no lyrics really stick out to me in particular but MAN. the stress on "free falling love addict" is getting to me. considering Stormsight fell to his death. ouch.

conclusion! these are all fantastic song choices and you are a fucking genius. i'm almost temped to something with Toba the Tura myself, except i know I'd never finish it lmao. and as a side note, if you've never heard the Chonny Jash covers of a lot of Miracle Musical songs i would highly recommend. they aren't for everyone but personally I like them better than some of the originals, even.

and back to the topic of Otterslip: here's all the songs I have on his playlist at the moment (though i will be adding. probably all of the ones youve suggested.) in case you wanted more inspiration or simply some good tunes to listen to.

how do you stop missing someone, especially when they arent really gone gone you just aren't in each others lives anymore and neither of you can go back to how it was in the before times recent community grief got me thinking and im sorry if youre not the person to ask but idk maybe you have thoughts?

So, I have this friend who just went through a pretty nasty divorce. And even before the separation and the filing, the man she married and the man she was currently married to were not the same person. This man had changed in only a few years, and not for the better. He had spent time in some pretty gross places and picked up some pretty gross ideologies, and he treated her pretty terribly. She filed for divorce, and then one day asked me, "If he is so terrible to me, why do I keep feeling like leaving him is like someone died?"

And my response to her was honestly more or less a paraphrase of something I had read in a book after my dad died that was about grief and got into grief that isn't necessarily caused by a death, but instead a separation of people for any number of reasons. Could be immigration takes you so far away from each other that you don't have the ability or money to visit, it can be a divorce, it can be cutting off toxic parents that you still love, it could be the loss of a friendship... Any number of things.

So what I told her was when you lose someone, you don't necessarily have to lose them to death to feel like you have lost connection to a life.

My friend wasn't mourning the loss of a man who treated her like shit. She was grieving the loss of the man she had originally married, the man she fell in love with, the man she dated. And she was grieving the loss of the future she had pictured having with him.

That's grieving a life lost.

I have lost a few people in this way. Sometimes to a conflict, sometimes to simply losing touch over time. The funny part is that I still sometimes have dreams where I'm just hanging out with them. Or in the case of an old boyfriend, I sometimes have dreams even now about apologizing for some of the things I did and hearing him apologize for some of the things he did. That conversation is never going to happen, not through any fault of either of our own, it just isn't. But the mind still wants things to wrap up, it wants to be able to categorize events and people and places in our lives and file them neatly away.

Life is too messy for that.

What has worked best for me, and it may not work for you but for me... I allow the grief and the mourning. I make space for it. I acknowledge that it's real and it's not lesser than other forms of grief just because it isn't necessarily as permanent. Pain is pain, and this isn't Sadness Olympics.

So for me, being able to think about it and work it out and go over what happened and what I'm sad about helps me because I'm not repressing and pushing it down, which only makes me dwell on it. Instead, I might notice something and think, Dustin would really like this song. And then feel a moment of melancholy for the conversations we never got to have. And then I move on.

If the loss is fresh, acknowledge that it's fresh, and that it's going to take a while to feel any better than you do right now about it.

It will stop being a fresh loss. But it may still come to mind from time to time, and that's okay, that's normal. Grief and loss are not linear. They are circles, they are rivers, they wind around and double back on themselves. They come in waves, they come in hailstorms, they come in the tide making its inexorable way up or down, they come sometimes in droughts.

Sometimes it can help if you have someone to talk to about it, or just write down what you're feeling even if you never show those writings to anyone else. Make space for the feelings, make space for the thoughts. Play music that resonates with how you feel, read books that fit the mood, maybe draw pictures. Just let your brain do what it will with the emotions.

It helps me. I don't know if it would help you.

Your blorbos, tell me about them

Ok so here's something that's been eating at my brain that maybe you guys can actually help me out with. It's been causing me to rethink some things about my Stanley Parable AU.

So, I've been questioning whether or not the Narrator is aware of 432's existence. To be more specific, I have been debating whether or not he knows the specifics of 432's story in the office and their experimentation.

It's obvious that he doesn't know about the Timekeeper/432 becoming the fabric of the universe.

After the epilogue, when you visit the broken achievement that's been fixed by 432/the Timekeeper, Narrator freaks out, possibly bc he doesn't like the idea of being watched by some other force that he doesn't know about and is potentially stronger than he is.

And there's the theory about TK being the one who makes the door disappear during the Skip Button ending to be able to talk to Stanley alone. During the ending, Narrator has no idea what happened to the door nor how to create one. Which is pretty odd considering that we see him change the scenery before our very eyes. So maybe, something is keeping both Stanley and him inside.

Interestingly enough, another instance of Narrator being trapped in a room and separated from Stanley or the Player are the Real Person/Not Stanley ending and the Escape Pod ending. During both endings, there are some easter eggs alluding to 432 (You can also see 432's desk repeatedly while climbing the stairs to the escape pod. And the boxes of pencil sharpeners mailed to 432 in the docking bay disappear after you watch the instructional video in the Real Person ending.)

However, here's the thing.

Employee 432 is listed in the instruction manual for the IndieBox version of the Stanley Parable as a character but has no information. The Instruction Manual is written by the Narrator, right? So, he might not know that 432 became the Timekeeper but does he know about 432 as a character within The Story? Did he omit their information on purpose? Or did they insert themselves in the manual?

(Part of me doesn't think the latter is true bc according to Davey Wreden in a livestream, the team didn't intend for 432 and the Settings Person to be the same until way later into development. And the IndieBox version of TSP came out years before TSPUD was in development. And by that logic, maybe the idea that 432 is behind some of the original endings might not be onto anything either. Not sure.)

Idk. After doing some character writing for 432 myself, it definitely seems like they're a prime candidate to go through the story that Stanley is going through. Being experimented on, finding out that they're part of a sinister plot and maybe fighting to take it down.

I already planned to explore this in my AU but like what if, legit, 432 was Narrator's rough draft of Stanley? But he couldn't stand that they actually make meaningful choices for themselves? What if, unlike Stanley, they can speak? And the voice receiver in the Real Person ending is a remnant of that earlier draft of The Story?

This paper in particular says that 432 constantly questions authority or being told to do the most basic tasks. So maybe this caused them to have brushes against the Narrator?

Another recurring theme in this game that I've noticed is that the things that the Narrator creates often end up turning against him or just displease him. Specifically, the Adventure Line™ and the Skip Button come to mind. (It's also interesting to note how the Adventure Line™ leads the player/Stanley through the Employee 432 peer review hall sometimes during the Confusion ending, another ending where the Narrator loses control over the situation but not necessarily entirely bc of Stanley or the Player.) Maybe this is the case with 432 as well? Maybe, like with Stanley, the Narrator created 432 because he was lonely but they, with the will of their own, walked out on him? So he created a more obedient character that wouldn't leave him alone?

(However again, the reference to the original Half Life Mod in the Ultra Deluxe Games (Firewatch/Rocket League) Ending confuses me cuz the door is labeled 427 and everything GAHHH-)

Anyway, I just rambled for a long while but I sincerely want to hear what you guys think about this.

Maybe I'm just going in too deep with this and maybe the endings aren't connected at all and it's just a silly little game with different silly little endings. Maybe the angle I'm seeing everything at is skewed. I just wanna get some other perspectives on this.

In any case, it doesn't really change too much of my AU, maybe, but it does decide whether or not I want a scene in which 432 calls out the Narrator for writing them a tragic backstory for the sake of "character development".

Billy Lore From 'Runaway Max': Chapter 1

...But first, an intro.

I decided to take one for the team and started reading Runaway Max for that sweet sweet Billy lore so that I could compile a little resource for writers and give back to my beloved Harringrove community which sustains me (I'll be tagging other pairings which feature Billy in this post so fellow Billy aficionados can use it too). Maybe someone wrote something like this already (in which case I love you), but I'm doing it anyway because idk and also if I don't do something good for my best pairing I will explode.

Notes:

This post will obviously contain spoilers for the Max book.

I'll be posting chapter-by-chapter as I read. There will be a masterpost in the future, but I will also use a separate tag for this.

I'm not reading the book in English so there might be disrepancies in language used etc. because I'm translating this from my native language.

I will focus on Billy as much as possible, but also include things that apply to his closest family that writers might find useful. If I include my own personal impressions they will be on the very bottom.

Spoilers and lore from CHAPTER 1 under the cut!

The book intoduces Billy when they are already in Hawkins and literally the first thing he does is run a red light lmao.

He's listening to a Quiet Riot song.

His Resting Billy Face is: impassive, blank, languid. Half-lidded eyes, seemingly bored out of his mind, but when he looks at Max there is a sharpness to it. He appears permanently half-sleepy (except when its go time when he gets lively and alert).

That's where the Hawkins part ends, the rest of the chapter is a flashback from Cali.

Billy, Neil, Max, and Susan all lived in San Diego, California.

Neil worked as a security guard at a bank (Susan worked there as a bank teller, that's where they met)

Billy doesn't meet Max or Susan until after Neil had already proposed. He gets introduced to them in April.

He is late to their meeting. Neil is pretending he's not angry but he's clearly furious, to the point that Max instantly sees through him.

Billy comes to the first meeting with his future step-mother and step-sister with his tits out. They meet at a minigolf/skee-ball/go-cart place (Neil picks it to pretend he's a fun guy.)

He already had his blue Camaro when they first met.

Billy's initial impression of Susan is that she's fucking depressing lol.

His dad introduces Max as "Maxine" and that's how Billy addresses her, even when she tells him not to do it.

Billy's eyelashes are "long like a girl's" which Max notices the moment she gets a good look at his face.

He is the one who calls her Mad Max.

Near the go-carts Billy is asked by Max if he wants to race and he scoffs at her and ask her why would he want to make a fool outta himself by driving something small and shitty when he can drive a proper car instead.

Billy doesn't hate Max on sight; he seems largely neutral about her. He mentions like twice in a very short conversation that he thinks she's a little girl. He is obviously not taking her seriously when she tries to impress him and humours her in a very half-assed way.

This changes when, in her attempt to impress him, Max tells him that she knows how to drive too (she doesn't, her dad showed her some basics like once), and that she could drive the Camaro too. This seems to Wake Him Up (TM) a little and he leans down until he and Max are on the same eye level. In his mildly unhinged singsong voice he tells Max that she is not getting anywhere near his car. Then he laughs and sorta gets her to compliment his car lmao.

That's the end of Billy-related stuff in chapter 1!

Do you have any advice for keeping motivation going when writing longer fics? I’ve tried a couple times to write longer fics but my motivation almost always dies out quickly even when I have ideas galore. I get really sad that I’ve never written anything over like 14k 😭

Aaaah idk if I'm qualified to give writing advice but I'll try! If these don't work for you, please ignore them!!

I think my best advice might be my favorite technique: WRITE OUT OF ORDER. Think chapters ahead and write scenes or even just snippets for things toward the end of the story you have in mind, even if you change the outline and end up cutting those scenes later. If you need, have a different doc just for writing future scenes or put the snippets under a cut at the bottom of your wip doc. It'll give you a goal to work towards and help you think about the story as a whole. So just, I guess, pick the scenes you're most excited about throughout the entire story and start with those, and the rest will follow as you get excited about the scenes that fill in the gaps. Don't be afraid to write messy. Nothing is wasted; even the scenes that you cut help you explore and process the ones that stay.

I think I'm kind of just obsessive as a person and I get writing blinders, like. I'm cranky if I go too many hours at a time without writing, so I'm almost constantly writing on my phone. If you only write on your computer and find yourself losing momentum, maybe try writing on your phone whenever you have an idea for accessibility's sake? It could keep your story on your mind and keep the juices flowing.

Another thing is to REREAD YOUR WRITING. Start from the beginning of your fic and just reread what you have, and the inertia might help you remember or come up with what happens next. This kind of goes hand-in-hand with the general "write what you want to read" and tbh it helps you fall in love with your own writing.

One of my weaknesses is that I get too many different fic ideas, so I keep ONE doc per fandom with just blurbs of different AUs separated by line breaks lol. That helps me keep the runaway ideas contained, and if there's one that gets too big because I can't stop writing for it, it graduates to its own doc and becomes an active wip (I still have too many tbh but I'm trying to just stick with the ones I'm posting for now).

If you have ideas galore for one wip you want to work on, write them down in a list, no matter how disorganized. When you're IN your passion for writing that idea, get down as many scenes or even just blurbs you like about it while the energy lasts. Hopefully that can help hook your attention on it, because you'll have already devoted attention to your favorite parts of it. Don't try to organize the ideas as you go; you can clean up later. Don't even worry if the scenes conflict while you're still playing around with them. Just create and write freely while you're feeling the height of your motivation. And don't worry!! Even if you lose motivation for a while, it doesn't mean it won't come back!! Don't let a loss of inertia make you feel discouraged!!

So I guess in summary:

1. Write the scenes you're excited about, regardless of order or outline, and cut and organize later

2. Keep your wip at your fingertips

3. Reread your writing

4. Contain the other wip ideas

5. Losing steam for a while doesn't mean the end!

I hope this contains something helpful for you! Everyone's writing process is different and mine's a mess, but it's a fun mess.

Honest to goodness, do you have any advice for me on writing oneshots?? Probably my biggest downfall is that I can't wrap oneshots up neatly and finish a short work. I admire people who can take an idea and conclude it efficiently. 😭

I do think they love each other and had romantic feelings for each other, but I'm not invested enough in their characters or relationship to actively ship it or seek out any content about them.

What would have made you like it?

Maybe if we saw more of them interacting casually or even opening up about each other in person, possibly even involving Muta getting a bit more vulnerable about his body. I don't know, just a little bit more to sink my teeth in.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I like the scene of Muta reminiscing about his friends and Miwa before he dies. It's very sweet.

Lucifer/Mazikeen

Honestly, I'm surprised you know about them, but very excited to talk about them. This will be specifically about their dynamic in the Mike Carey comics and partially about what came in the continuation in 2016, not the TV shows, since that is how I like them most and where they get the most depth.

What made you ship it?

Hm, I don't think there is really one specific moment. The one where Lucifer kisses her before leaving hell is iconic, but I only really grew to like them as the story progressed and Mazikeen began to come into her own and push back against him. The time apart where they did their separate things (like creating a multiuniverse), but kept each other in mind is probably where I really started liking them.

What are your favourite things about the ship?

I think how ace their relationship is and it was probably also the first time I saw representation of both someone who could be read as asexual and what their relationship might look like. I like how much freedom there is in their relationship, both in a good an bad way. Lucifer doesn't tie Mazikeen to her or makes any grand statements about love, he just shows he cares (very unusual for him) through little gestures like restoring her demonic face or giving her his powers. No matter how long they are apart, his feelings for her don't change at their core and he's willing to go along with whatever she wants from their relationship except be there more often because that's her free will. It's what she starts to dislike about him, but that's what makes it so complex. I also like that she's allowed to have a life outside of him, even get a girlfriend because this way she can still get those romantic or sexual experiences he can't give her. It doesn't make her happy, but I like they are allowed to have that distance while still caring about each other.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't really like how they are depicted in the 2016 comics. Beyond the issue of Lucifer coming back at all, Mazikeen not (always) having his Lightbringer powers and that whole son debacle, I don't like that they made Lucifer's feelings for her more overtly romantic. It missed a lot of that tension and ambiguity that made them so interesting in the original comics, where Lucifer's outright show of affection is rare but meaningful. Idk, they seemed a lot more like Morticia & Gomez, which isn't really what I'm looking for in their relationship and seems very abrupt after how Carey's comics ended.

Angel/Yorozu

What made you ship it?

Well, I already ship Angel/Takako and Yorozu/Takako, so I thought why not throw Angel into the mix too and with Yorozu's obsession for Sukuna, Angel also seemed like a good alternative and we know Yorozu knows her and although her opinion isn't very high of her, that might change if she's shown quite literally the light.

What are your favourite things about the ship?

I like Angel most when she shows her ruthless side, like when arguing with Yuuji over if they should kill the soldiers or when she talks about butchering Sukuna. And Yorozu loves gore as well and has a liking for extravagant ceremonies. I just need them to take their attention away from Sukuna and towards each other. Match made in heaven I think. This might be shallow, but I just want them to homoerotically tear each other apart. Yorozu would definitely be into it and I'm sure Angel can catch a liking to the weird intense bug girl as well. Yorozu would 100% die, but it would be a death she would be proud of and how she would want to go out.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Not really. Just rip to both of them I guess. Angel might not be dead, but Gege continues to rob her of relevance and personality, so all I got is hopes for a great Heian flashback and the fantasies of these two getting it on.

my opinion on Shangguang Qian is similar to yours, i really like her and the less she's entangled in love affairs the more i liked her. she and Shangjue shine independently, but trying to put them together as "pair" takes away their coolness from both. Shangjue never trusted her, and as was revealed in later part of the show, was actively working in several plots to expose her. he never lets his guard down around her. honestly, even the spy thing aside, her instant love bombing is sleazy and makes her seem even more sus. i don't ship main couple but objectively their relationship progresses naturally and believably thus highlighting the unnatural relationship between Shangjue and SGQ. their intimate scene came out of nowhere and was strange - he doesn't even let her hold his hand, then suddenly changes his mind and invites her to bath, then insults her afterwards. "what else do you have?" she already gave him her body, she has nothing to bargain with anymore. it looked like another test or try to push her to her limit. she didn't break under pressure tho. in following scenes where she's throwing herself at him in a hug, he hesitates for a long time to even put a hand on her shoulder. they don't look like lovebirds who share a bed every night. shangjue might have had moments when he doubted his own judgement what if she's genuine, but most of the time he knows he was right about her from the start. and in the end they did stay true to themselves and went their separate ways as they should. whatever sentimentality Shangjue had for her, he choose his priorities - Yuanzhi, the clan, etc. he's master of his own desires, not their slave. and sentimentality will be forgotten soon. as for her pregnancy i don't believe it for a second. she never showed signs of it. she made it up on the spot in a last attempt to save herself, she gambled her life on it and won. even if she really was pregnant idk who might father be - she also flirted with hanyu, and was meeting that buzzcut teacher/ex-lover. pregnancy doesn't benefit SGQ in any way, so even if it's true, once she got out she would abort it. she would continue working in Wufeng, maybe even get promoted. she's talented self-made woman

This comparison could be a whole post of its own, but if YWS x GZY is the comparison point for how love can actually make you want to be better, do better, live better, then GZS x JF is the point for how you can't "force" love, you can only foster what is already there.

Thoughts about sorawo and toriko?

oh my god so many. keep in mind i havent reread the novels in maybe a year now so i might be off with some of the stuff im about to say...

i have many thoughts on sorawo and toriko SEPARATELY But from the phrasin of this and also assumin u meant like them romantically iwill sally forth. bonus drawing if u make it all the way thru this word vomit

i think the main reason i love the main pairing together is because of the slow burn and also because i think they are (slowly) growing together and enabling each other to become better versions of themselves. and they both (while stumbling and not through perfect efforts) try to leave each other space and push each other to recover from their respective traumas. its all very sweet and very human. sorawo's side is more obvious: i think meeting toriko has allowed sorawo to feel like she has more self control over her life, and also (slowly) i think befriending toriko means for sorawo, shes slowly opening her heart for other people in her life. esp with the series opening the way that it does with sorawo going "nobody would miss me if i died. except the debt collectors" and then toriko entering and not leaving her alone which then starts a whole domino cascade of events that end up with sorawo being surrounded with people who do love and care for her. aueugsdhfshfrg (emotional). on a side note i like how miyazawa gives sorawo agency in her growth---i think too often a character who is traumatized gets sort of shuttled in to a specific road of recovery, and if they display behaviors or opinions that appear antithetical to their recovery, i feel like they get infantilized like oh you dont know your own mind and stuff. but with sorawo miyazawa lets her take things at her own pace, set her own boundaries, and have like idk emotions seen as more "flawed" than usual. i enjoy it it also feels very human and compassionate of the story

toriko is a whole other story. i think her growth is a lot more subtle since we dont see a lot of her pov and we have to infer what is happening from sorawo's erm... unreliable narration at times. with toriko i think at first she reaches out to sorawo for the same reason sorawo is drawn to her---they're both very lonely and isolated people. over time however, i think toriko (esp in vol 8) has shown a lot of growth as she is now able to take sorawo's apparent rejections less personally if that makes sense? like she's gained the self confidence to stand on her own two feet which is a change from the start of the series where she was depending on different people (satsuki then sorawo) to make herself feel more complete. idk if that makes sense and i might be completely off on that mark lmao again i havent read the novels in a hot sec. i think sorawo's part in this is sorawo treats toriko as an equal for the most part, which is something she didnt probably get with satsuki. i imagine this allowed toriko to feel more loved, but also allowed her to do a lot more self reflectiona nd growth. love her to bits sorry if any of this is wrong also i feel like im forgetting things

tldr i love stories where traumatized characters meet each other by chance and then become best friends (accomplices) and then fall for each other while becoming better versions of themselves in the meanwhile. and soratori is really good at exploring the dynamics of this <3 yay

Ok so canon wise, Matthias loses his parents and younger sister when Inferni soldiers attack his village. That’s why he hates Grisha so much. In this version of the story, his sister is alive but he doesn’t know.

The attack happens, yes, but the two are just separated. We know Matthias joins the Druskelle, so what happens to her? Well, I played with the idea of the Fjerdan government and how far they would go to wipe out Grisha. Everyone knows what the Druskelle look like. They can’t hide. They’re big men, wearing animal furs, traveling in a pack, with what I would assume would be a thick Fjerdan accent. The people of Fjerda and the Druskelle believe they’re doing the right thing. They grab Grisha, put them on trials that they don’t know are a sham and kill them. But that’s so much work and the Druskelle move slow. In my story, the Fjerdans have another group. This group is a secret only high profile government personnel know about. It’s a group of women who are trained to become assassins and they go to other countries to kill Grisha. No trials. Just straight getting rid of them. That’s what happens to Kajsa. Matthias was always big for his age. Big and strong. Kajsa has incredible control over her body, a great memory and is a living amplifier (mom’s a descendant of Ilya’s second daughter because why not? Maybe I’ll change it. Idk). Yeah, they could’ve let them go, but the two would be lost in the foster care system and could leave Fjerda. That’s too much talent going to waste. So both of them are lied to and are told the other is dead. It drives them towards the anti Grisha cause more. Vengeance can make people monsters and that’s what Fjerda needs,

You may think she’d find Matthias and become besties with the crows right away. Absolutely not. Kajsa would actually be a villain. Keep up, shit is finna get juicy. SO, they made a big ass mess during that heist in Fjerda, right. Now Matthias is wanted in Fjerda and boom boom boom, Kajsa knows he’s alive. As a trained assassin, she wouldn’t have a hard time finding him. They reunite. It’s cute. It’s emotional… then she finds out his girlfriend is a Grisha. In the books, Matthias still struggles with his prejudices against Ravkan people and Grisha. He left his country for good because he fell in love with Nina. Kajsa only left her country for her brother. She’s still brainwashed. So she believes Grisha are still witches and thinks Nina has a spell on him. So when he refuses to leave her, she thinks she has to kill Nina to end the spell and when he doesn’t let that happen, she thinks she has to kill Matthias to save his soul because if he marries this witch and have kids then Djel won’t allow him to see their parents. Are you following?

So you might think “just jump the bitch” but NO. I specifically made her so she wouldn’t be easily taken down. Everything the Crows are good at, she can counter that. And before y’all call her OP, know I did this for a reason.

I’m not necessarily a pacifist but I love stories where violence will not solve the problem. They cannot jump this woman into submission. If Matthias wants this happy ending and he wants to choose both of his families, it can’t be The Crows Vs Kajsa. It has to be Matthias Vs Kajsa. That’s the only way to hopefully become Matthias AND Kajsa again. It has to be a family affair. Matthias has to be the one to appeal to her humanity and their family history. Matthias can’t come to her as the ex Druskelle, now escaped convict and she can’t come to him as this new assassin she’s become. They have to come to each other as family.

There’s a few parallels I have in mind with them. One being Zuko and Azula. Yeah Katara was there during the final Agni Kai, but it was a family affair. It was a family fight full of tragedy and sorrow and “what ifs”. Zuko, who was able to escape his father’s brainwashing and abuse vs Azula who didn’t have a support system and fell victim to the cycle of abuse.

And in my head the story would touch on multiple things. Corrupt governments, family, betrayal, abuse, grief, guilt. Can you still have sympathy for the abuser if you know they were once the abused? At what point do you stop feeling sympathy? Is change possible for everyone? Can you truly end the cycle of abuse? Plus other shit imma think of once I post this.

They’re everything to me. Neither of them really want to kill the other but they feel at some point they’ll have to. They genuinely love and care for the other. I imagine that on the anniversary of their parents death (and when they thought the other was dead) they’d leave offerings and pray to Djel, believing he’d send their loved ones a message. When they finally see each other again, Kajsa wants them to live new lives together somewhere else. All that hope and relief finally seeing the other is crushed as soon as it started. I JUST- loving them a normal amount is impossible for me. And because the story is in my brain, the angst hits different. Expect me talking about them more because damn. I honestly wanna write an actual story about them but idk yet. Might stay in my head. Might share. Who knows.

But separate of shippers, I do have a vested interest in Jkk in that I do watch them the most. I have things to say and/or critiques to make, and no one has to agree with them. My blog is open to people who have genuinely interesting things to say about them, even if I might not share their beliefs.

Why do any of us watch or read romance media? I can appreciate the concept of romance and revel in the idealist nature of it, but 99% of them are hardly reflective of real life. It’s the same thing with shippers and Jkk (and I don’t mean the crazy ones). I like reading about what they have to say if they choose to share it and if it’s sensible, to answer curiosities they might have about why I’m not propelled in their direction, but there are moments where I get shitty people in my inbox. Sure, I can ignore them and I do for the most part (my asks consistently hover around 500; I can’t delete and/or respond to things fast enough to get below that number), but I also don’t think these people should get to resort to bullying tactics and lay claims to corners of the Internet that they think belongs to them.

And look, on occasion—I can probably count the moments on one hand—there have been people who’ve said things that made me change my mind about a certain event. I don’t think the end game is going in the direction Jkkrs think they’re going, but I can appreciate the opportunity to look at something between Jkk in a new light. It’s rare, but it happens.

This blog isn’t going to continue indefinitely, but for the short time that I’m here, I’m going to defend my space and my right to say what I want in my space.
