#I saw role reversal

Role Reversal time bitches! Penny is the only fleshy, organic human in a world of androids and robots and she's always worried about standing out!
None of this was right anymore. Penny slowly walked through the streets of Vale, her eyes looking towards the buildings that seemed more fit for the robotic soldiers that Atlas had than for people. The streets were mostly empty as grey and black clouds had started to fill the sky, though she caught the movement of a few people that roamed outside. And while the city looked familiar to her, something still didnt quite feel right.
“Penny? What are you doing here?”
Penny froze as she heard a familiar voice, and then saw a red streak fly through the air and land next to her. She felt her heart break and pound in her chest as she looked over the image of a friend she had thought was gone. “R-Ruby?”
Ruby smiled at her, joints clicking as she moved. “I was worried sick about you! You ran off months ago and I thought you were gone.”
Penny slowly took Ruby’s hand and felt the familiar synthetic skin, her fingers running over the doll-like joints that this Ruby had. A small smile crossed her lips as she pulled the Ruby into a tight hug. “I… I thought you were gone.”
“But… I didnt go anywhere.” Ruby slowly pulled back and started to scan Penny. “You were the one who left, remember? Though, you seem a bit strange now. You’re leaking water and the power source you have is… different from the rest of us.”
“I am fine, really I am.” Penny wiped the tears from her eyes and took a few steps back to regain her composure. “I… I did not mean to worry you. But I…. I had to go.” She paused for a moment and took another look at Ruby. The outfit this Ruby wore reminded her of the outfit the Ruby she knew wore back at Beacon and a few memories started to flood back. “It… it was a fight at the docks, right?”
“It was. You ran off before we could make sure that you were okay.”
“Why would I not be?”
Ruby hesitated. “As… as far as we knew, you were dead.”
Penny hesitated for a moment and looked towards the docks. “I… died?”
“Yeah, but you’re alive, so… you must have been put back together again, right? Though, if you dont remember, maybe I could help you with your maintenance-”
“No, I dont need help.” Penny took a couple steps back and then started to rush off to the docks. “I need to go! I will find you at Beacon, okay?”
“It was nice seeing you again!”
Penny rushed down the streets, eyes glowing as she used her maiden powers to propel herself down the metal streets. She landed at the docks and looked out towards the sea, body shaking from the cold air. She slowly made her way through the taped off area to walk through the wreckage of grimm-like machines, being careful with each step to not cut up her feet. Scorch marks littered the area around the machines, shards of metal and glass were embedded into a few of the containers.
She paused in her step as a red cloak caught her eye, wrapped up around the scepter of creation with the crystal glinting in the sunlight. With each step she took towards the cloak, memories rushed forward into the front of her mind. Her hand shook as she watched Ruby take a fireball that was meant for her, Weiss taking a strike from Neo, Blake dropping to the ground…
The air around Penny started to swirl around, picking up the loose pieces of metal and glass as she took the cloak and held it close to her chest. Finally, the wind died down and the glass and metal rained down around her, a few pieces slicing into her. She didnt notice as the world around her stopped and a voice finally spoke to her.
“This is the world you wanted, wasnt it?”
Penny looked up to see Ambrosius floating in front of her. “I… I do not-”
“‘I want to create a world where my friends are still alive,’ were your exact words,” Ambrosius said with a grin across his lips. “And when I asked you how you wanted it created, you told me ‘whatever will make sure they’re alive’. I’ll be honest, when the bridge your friend had me create started to go, I wasnt sure if you’d actually make it here. Though, I cant take all the credit for this world.”
“You… you have to bring me back to them!” Penny shook as she slowly unraveled the cloak from the scepter. “I have to get back to Remnant!”
“Technically, you are on Remnant. I didnt exactly create this world, but that space your friend Weiss had me create? It acts as a bridge between worlds. All I did was create a bridge directly to this one to fulfill your desire.”
“Then you can make a new one to get back to Remnant. To my Remnant! I need to help my friends and get back to Ruby!”
Ambrosius grinned. “And do you know how to get back to your Remnant from here? Or how to create the bridge that would get you back? I liked you and your friends. You were all so creative with what they wanted you to become and how to save everyone, so I gave you a freebie. Exactly what you wanted as you worded it. But to get back? That is another matter entirely.”
Penny’s eyes started to glow and she quickly created a replica of Crescent Rose and swung it at Ambrosius, stopping at his neck. Her body shook in anger as she held the weapon there, terrified. “There has to be a way back!”
“And I’m sure there is. And since I like you and your friends so much, allow me to give you one more piece of information. This world is just like yours. If I were you, I’d try to blend in as much as you can and try to find the relic of knowledge here. If you’re lucky, she’ll be able to answer a question for you without having to wait another hundred years.”
Penny glared as she watched Ambrosius disappear back into the staff and she threw it out into the ocean with a growl. She placed the cloak around her shoulders and started to make her way to Beacon. If it meant getting back to her friends, she’d take the place of the Penny that was here to keep herself out of sight.

The LU Gift exchange was so much fun!! From my giftee's prompts and favourite characters I decided on a role reversal of Mask and Warriors, where Warriors is the child hero and Time the older hero!

3319 - Downfall of Numenor. Tar-Miriel leads a greater force of the Faithful away.
(green // blue means two main options, red means i need to think about it more)
The main details I'm figuring out right now are
does Celebrimbor still die at Eregion - I don't think he's getting captured/tortured, but he could still die in the battle. On the other hand, he could probably survive by using Narya & Lomion using Nenya, but that would definitely have repercussions further down the line
how does Idril's deal work - I'm currently thinking of Idril exchanging the location of Gondolin for her family's guaranteed safety, because it seems in character for Reverse Idril? But on the other hand, even if I limit it to immediate family at the time of the oath (tuor, turgon, earendil) then idk where turgon dies? Maybe Maglor can kill him but that seems kind of random
where and how does Turgon die
how does Prince Elrond's character even work
how does Numenor still fall when factoring in Prince Elrond - I'm thinking that the morgoth death cult gained enough traction during the time sauron was there that even after Elrond kicks him out, the cult still sticks around and reemerges later? The Fall still happens, but they never go to attack valinor and there's a good deal more Faithful (maybe 40-60%?)
#silm#silmarillion#not art#reverse gondolin au#basically elrond is giving me a Lot of trouble here#i tacked an extra 30 years onto the FA (so the SA dates are mostly shifted up by 30 years to balance it out; hence elros being king in SA 2#this means e&e were adults during the Fall of Gondolin and the war of wrath and all#so instead of 'kind as summer' elrond of the last homely house in rivendell#we have gondolithrim veteran/dragonslayer Prince Elrond of Imladris Stronghold#and later the Bastion of the Faithful of Numenor#ironically enough he turned out way more feanorian when not raised by feanorians#instead of sirion e&e's defining Childhood Trauma was the gondolin kinslaying#in which mae and aredhel duel to the death while screaming at each other about fingon's fate and the Oath#and argon and elenwes deaths on the helcaraxe#also elwing fully died trying to protect them in this one#and then e&e were like 20something and sons/grandsons of two Lords durign the FoG so obviously they ended up fighting there too#and then again at the war of wrath#and by the mid SA elrond has already lived through so many wars he's running rather low on hope#so Prince Elrond still tries to be kind but is also substantially more willing to threaten people if need be#after eregion he founds imladris as a haven but also an impenetrable fortress#he saw the fall of gondolin and he knows that rivendell couldn't last forever#but he believes he can make it last long enough to defeat sauron first#or at least push him back so that the refugees of eregion can rebuild and survive#meanwhile celebrimbor takes up the last homely house role#but yeah Prince Elrond is pretty interesting#he intervenes more with numenor bc hes watching them self destruct and knows (bc foresight) exactly what would happen#so he tries (eventually in vain) to prevent it by disowning and exiling ar pharazon#and later exiling sauron around the time of the burning of nimloth#but it's too late and the morgoth cult already gained enough traction#on the other hand there's a lot more Faithful led by tar-miriel

Strahm is actually kind of dumb, like he was in deep with the Jigsaw cases and when he's actually in a trap he 1) doesn't listen to the whole tape 2) does the thing he thinks Jigsaw doesn't want him to do as if that wouldn't have been thought out or has ever gone right for anybody

and they’re boyfriends
#oppenheimer#lawrenheimer#i just made that name up 💅 let’s get this ship sailing#IDK how to explain it but the CHEMISTRY they had#it was unbearable i felt like i was choking on air when they were close to each other#so good. literal art#wait sit down let me convince you to ship them!!#personally i shipped them from the first moment but the scene that is really precious for me is that one#when Izzy and Oppenheimer are sitting in the hallway and you see Lawrence walk in and then immediately leave when he sees them#cause like. you KNOW he came there to give a NEGATIVE ass review but then he saw Oppenheimer sitting there looking all defeated#and he just couldn’t do it#and i especially think of that scene in contrast to the discussion on Kitty’s testimony#since both of these scenes occur in the hallway some fake-deep analysis is necessary#it’s like 🤌🤌 Lawrence protected Oppenheimer with his silence the way Kitty protected him with her testimony#sort of a way to hold onto his morals while letting Oppenheimer go just out of sentimentalism#(my bad theory is that Lawrence was HURT by the knowledge of the affair w Ruth because it meant he wasn’t the only one 🤫)#(GOD i can just picture their relationship it would be so MESSY)#(Lawrence hopelessly in love. Oppenheimer being well aware and just using him for his body. Lawrence who can never refuse him anything.)#(wait did this turn into a foil for the relationship with Jean???? but with the roles reversed??????)#also?? irl Lawrence DID testify against Oppenheimer and ripped him to shreds (😭) so like. we know what movie!Lawrence protected him from#ohh and what i also find really interesting is the parallels with Kitty since off the top of my head there’s 2 more#the fact that Oppenheimer takes Lawrence to New Mexico as he did with Kitty later#and the fact that Lawrence encourages Oppenheimer to be ambitious and take the opportunity w the project#(and iirc it’s his words that finally convince Oppenheimer?)#anyway that was my dissertation on why you should ship them; if you aren’t convinced then i hope i’ve at least made you mad 😴

silly little vent in the tags
#i really miss him and it's not fair how much i gave to him every day when i had to beg for attention back#i don't get why this always happens#it's every single person every single time#and they always tell me i was the best person they ever dated and i made them realize what being loved feels like or whatever#but i always end up more damaged#it feels like people think the way i love is like an apology from the universe that they can just take all of without reciprocating#instead of another traumatized person with feelings also trying to get what they give#it's so exhausting and frustrating i just want to love someone that loves me back#and they all say they do and tell me how great i am but they never listen when i communicate what i need and i have to beg#and they expect praise for the bare minimum#i asked him what he does for me and he said 'i was there to support you'#do you want a medal?? you SHOULD support your partners and your friends#and they all acknowledge that when the roles are reversed#what really fucks me up about it is when i see how they treated their exes#why not me?? what did i do wrong??#and they say i didn't do anything and that i was the best but no one acts like it#im so fucking tired of this it hurts so much#like i know for a fact my other ex legitimately saw me as his reward for persevering through rejection#when can people start seeing me as an equal to them that also wants to be loved and valued and needed?? it's not fair#people keep taking advantage of me and how caring i am towards them and it sucks#im losing hope once someone DOES treat me right i won't even trust it#personal posts 😌✨️✨️#tw vent

A very certain brand of CR fan can’t seem to get it through their heads that Ashton is not a man.
Ashton is non binary.
I see y’all’s posts trying to label Ashton as a man to score points in unimportant fandom discourse, or shipping drama.

carry you
Tumblr media
prompt: over-the-shoulder carry
fandom: skymed
whumpee: milosz nowak
hi hi hi!!!! out here with a new fandom to finish off this card...only took me like three years to do it but we did it!!! i hope you like this fic :) (title from carry you by novo amor)
Nowak’s flying right seat with Bodie today. They’ve been flying together with more regularity since Chopper left for selection camp, and Nowak has found that he doesn’t exactly hate it. They get along now, ever since the blizzard. It’s not like they’re best friends or anything, but they’re not at each others’ throats every waking second. Bodie pushes him (and occasionally pushes his buttons) and Nowak, he’s pretty sure, does the same in return.
Bodie’s in a fairly chipper mood this morning. Joel has started to walk, and Bodie is all proud dad about it, sharing anecdotes over the headset as they fly towards Deep Lake for the first medevac of their shift.
It’s frustratingly endearing, Nowak thinks. He’s never been one for kids, certainly not for being a parent, but Bodie’s excitement about everything his kid does, the way he has changed for the better since becoming a dad…it makes Nowak happy, is all. That Bodie has grown. That Joel is going to grow up with a father who will be proud of him no matter what.
They touch down on the landing strip, and the three of them - Nowak, Bodie, and Tristan, laden with medical supplies - climb out of the plane. This call is all hands on deck, and there’s a truck waiting for them beside the runway, ready to take them deep into the woods where a hiker has been trapped beneath fallen rocks.
Their driver introduces himself as Ben, explains that the man who’d found the hiker had said she’d been pretty bad off. Tristan wastes no time in loading his medical gear into the bed, and Nowak climbs in beside him, while Bodie slides into the cab alongside Ben.
They speed off into the woods on a well-worn trail, Nowak and Tristan holding onto the edges of the truck to avoid getting bounced out. Pretty soon, though, they’re moving at a crawl, and then the path disappears completely. There are trees on all sides, and no way through.
“From here, we walk,” Ben says, as the four men climb out of the truck. “It’s not too far now.”
Fortunately, the walk from the truck takes all of five minutes - all of a sudden, they come upon a clearing and a small cliff not more than ten feet tall, the ground at its base piled high with rocks. An arm, clad in a bright orange jacket, pokes out from beneath the pile, and a man is standing beside it. He hurries forward at their approach.
“She’s just here,” he says, gesturing to the arm. “I can still feel a pulse, but it’s weak. Please, hurry!”
“We’ll do everything we can,” Tristan promises.
All five pairs of hands are quickly put to work. Tristan monitors the patient, talks to her without receiving any responses, and shouts to the others when the rocks shift. Everyone else carefully moves the rocks one-by-one, and Nowak knows it has to be slow so that they don’t risk hurting the patient more, but working so slowly on something so important feels torturous.
They do make progress, though. After what feels like an hour, they uncover the hiker’s head, fortunately protected in a pocket of air, and Tristan is able to get a c-collar on her.
They uncover the rest of her body fairly quickly, moving faster despite the risk because the patient still hasn’t woken up. Soon they’ve got her torso out, and Nowak tugs aside a large rock that’s pinning one of her legs.
“Almost got her!” Tristan calls, and then the rocks shift and Bodie yells, “Look out!” while Tristan yells, “She’s out!” and then the pile of rocks is shifting, falling, and everyone hurries to get out of the way.
Nowak almost makes it. But his ankle twists beneath him and something heavy hits him in the back of the leg and he falls forwards, and then pain explodes through his entire leg, heavy and hot and horrible, and there’s a noise in his ears and at first he thinks it’s the rocks still falling but then he starts to cough from the dust and the noise stops and he realizes he’d been screaming.
“Nowak!” This is Tristan’s voice. Tristan can make the pain stop. But Tristan - he’s busy. They have a patient - he has to fly, he needs to get out of here right now and get back to the plane!
He forces the pain away, closes his eyes, breathes. He has to be fine. He has to.
Some of the rocks trapping his leg shift, and the pain spikes, and everything goes fuzzy, and he can hear shouting and talking but he doesn’t know what is being said.
“Hey, open your eyes.”
He opens his eyes. Everything is blurry, but he recognizes Bodie. “Hey,” he manages to say.
“How you feeling?”
“I’m okay. We’ve gotta - the patient…”
“She’s stable. Tristan and Ben are taking her back to the truck. Which means we’re stuck getting your sorry ass out of here.”
A blurry shape behind Bodie momentarily resolves itself into the shape of the man who’d found the hiker. Nowak doesn’t know his name, doesn’t remember whether he’d been told. This is worrying, but he can’t dwell on it for too long, because Bodie moves a rock and everything shifts and the pain becomes the only thing in his mind.
He doesn’t know how long it takes them to get his leg free. He can’t focus on anything besides the pain, but eventually the pressure on his leg disappears and he realizes that he must be free.
At the same time that Nowak realizes this, he hears Bodie say, “Shit.” He sounds freaked out enough that Nowak immediately needs to see what’s wrong. He twists around and sits up - and finds himself staring at his own leg bone, sticking out through the skin, slick and bright red with blood.
Seeing it makes the pain ten times worse, and the nausea hits him like a train. He barely even has time to turn his head to the side before he throws up.
Bodie’s hand is on his back and he’s shouting “Run and tell Tristan it’s bad!” and then his voice is quiet and he’s saying, “Come on, let’s get you up, you’re gonna be fine,” and Nowak can barely even think, but he manages to nod and holds out his hands so that Bodie can pull him to his feet.
They don’t make it that far. As soon as Bodie tugs him upwards and his foot makes contact with the ground, pain shoots through his leg and he cries out and just like that, everything goes black.
--
“Nowak?” Bodie asks, uncertainly. His co-pilot has just collapsed. He’s unconscious. Fuck.
Okay. He can handle this. He recalls their last wilderness survival training with a shake of his head as he pulls Nowak onto his shoulder, trying not to jostle his injured leg too much. Still, it’s probably for the best that he’s unconscious and can’t feel anything.
He carries Nowak - who is, apparently, even lighter than he looks - through the woods as fast as he possibly can, cognizant of the fact that they now have two patients to transport. And he’s out a co-pilot.
He reaches the truck, and Tristan glances up at him from the bed. He’s still focused on the now-conscious hiker, but in that split second, Bodie sees real pain on his face.
“He passed out,” he explains, as Ben helps him get Nowak laid down beside the hiker. Tristan makes himself smaller between the two of them, clips a pulse monitor to Nowak’s finger, and nods.
Ben gets into the driver’s seat, and Louie, who by the look of him had tripped and fallen in his haste to get back to the truck, situates himself in the tiny middle seat. Bodie climbs in beside him, pulls the door shut, and Ben gets them out of the woods as quickly as he can. Bodie can’t stop himself from glancing backwards every few seconds, as though he’ll see anything besides Tristan, bent over two patients at once.
--
They arrive back at the plane after an eternity of bumpy driving. Annabel - the hiker - had been mostly unaffected, thanks to the fentanyl Tristan had given her. She’s conscious now, and talking, albeit not very much, which is understandable. She’s got a concussion and a broken arm and a few broken ribs, but she’s lucky. There’s nothing to suggest internal bleeding, though she’ll need the doctors in Winnipeg to confirm that.
Nowak, on the other hand. Tristan hadn’t been able to give him anything for the pain - he’d only had the one needle on him, surplus supplies left back on the plane. He’d almost wished that he could have let Nowak remain unconscious, so he wouldn’t have to feel anything, but of course he couldn’t actually do that.
And so his boyfriend had had to feel every single bump in the road, every stick and rock and root. Tristan had held Annabel’s backboard still with one hand, and he’d caught Nowak’s hand with the other, the best comfort he could offer.
Ben and Louie help him get Annabel and Nowak out of the truck while Bodie powers up the plane. Annabel is easy, routine. They strap her in and Tristan promises a quick return.
Nowak, on the other hand, is difficult. There’s no spare backboard, no way to get him onto the plane that isn’t going to be painful.
“It’s okay,” he mumbles, when this fact is made clear to him. “Just do it.”
They settle on putting him between Ben and Louie, arms around their shoulders and broken leg held off the ground. It takes some work getting up the stairs and through the cabin door, but they manage it without banging Nowak up too much. Tristan still feels awful every time he winces.
The flight itself is, mercifully, uneventful. Bodie radios the hospital, ATC, and is otherwise silent over the headset. Tristan tends first to Annabel, at Nowak’s insistence, making sure her vitals are stable and administering extra painkillers when her arm starts hurting.
Nowak himself at last gets a nice dose of pain medication, for once putting up absolutely no resistance to Tristan’s ministrations. There are dried tear tracks running down his boyfriend’s face and his expression is completely unguarded, the pain making his eyes dull and his mouth tight. Tristan can only guess at how much his leg must hurt, and wishes desperately that he could do something more.
The painkillers kick in soon enough, thankfully, and Nowak relaxes little by little. His eyes slowly slip closed, and Tristan runs a gentle hand through his hair as he falls asleep.
--
Nowak wakes up tired, which really shouldn’t be a thing that happens. It makes him grouchy, and he looks around for whatever had woken him up and comes to the very rapid realization that he is not at home.
The hospital. His leg - fuck, his leg.
He hadn’t noticed it at first. It doesn’t hurt, courtesy, he’s sure, of the IV in his arm. But it’s there, propped up outside of the blanket, covered in a cast.
He doesn’t want to look at it. But even though he feels tired, he can’t make himself fall back asleep.
He’s thinking about work, about how he isn’t going to be able to fly for weeks, maybe even months. Isn’t going to be able to stand behind the bar either. He’s going to have to get a third job, and -
“Hey, you’re up.”
Tristan’s voice is soft, happy. Nowak looks up at him, suddenly standing there at the foot of his bed with a steaming paper cup in his hand, and momentarily forgets about his job worries.
“Hey, Tris.”
“How’s your leg?”
“Okay, can’t really feel anything. How’s the coffee?” He doesn’t really want to talk about it. Not now, at least. He knows he’ll have to, eventually. But not right now.
Tristan takes a sip and makes a face. “About what you’d expect.”
Nowak smiles. “Are we in Winnipeg?”
“Yeah. We can go home later today, though.”
That’s his next question already answered.
“How’s the…the hiker?”
“She’s fine. A couple broken ribs, broken arm, concussion, but no internal injuries. She’ll be released tomorrow - her mom’s with her now.”
“Good.” He’d been worried - worried that him getting hurt had put their actual patient in danger. But she’s okay. She’s okay.
“Do you want me to get you anything? Water, food?”
At the mention of water, Nowak realizes how dry his throat feels. But he kind of really doesn’t want Tristan to leave.
“Can I have some of your coffee?”
Tristan shakes his head. “Not while you’re still on morphine. How ‘bout I get you some water instead?”
He can hardly say no now. “Okay.”
“I’ll be right back.”
True to his word, Tristan is quick. Still, in the thirty or so seconds that he’s gone, Nowak very nearly falls back asleep. He wakes back up when Tristan returns, though, and makes it through half of the cup of water before his eyes again start to slip closed.
Tristan pulls the cup away from him. “Tired?”
Nowak shrugs. “A little.” He’s unwilling to fall asleep, though, while Tristan is still here. “I did just wake up, though.”
Tristan shakes his head. “Your body needs the rest, babe. Sleep.”
“Will you…”
“I’ll be here when you wake up. Promise.” Tristan laces their fingers together and squeezes his hand. Nowak squeezes back.
“Daj mi buzi?”
Tristan smiles at him, so fond it makes Nowak’s chest ache, and presses a kiss first to his forehead, then his cheek, and finally his mouth.
“I love you,” Tristan whispers, slowly pulling away.
“I love you, too,” Nowak whispers back, and lets his eyes drift closed.
