Stretch Marks
Tumblr media
Aegon: He wouldn't care if someone he was with had stretch marks. He'd be too busy... enjoying you to really pay attention to them. After some time, he does enjoy it far more but still, to be honest, he wouldn't care if you had or didn't have them. I don’t think it'd even register with him.
Aemond: Stretch marks are a natural occurrence on a person's body, caused by skin stretching underneath pressure. He finds you are beautiful and he'd be thrilled to see you bearing the marks that testify to the many sacrifices you have made. He would have no problem with it if the person he loves was afflicted with stretch marks. He is not so shallow, that he would turn away one of the most beautiful creations the gods have brought into this world for something so inconsequential and natural.
Jacaerys: It is only a mark. Nothing more. A body is a beautiful thing, even if some scars are left behind. In truth, a person with marks on your body is as perfect as a person without them. Perhaps, with time. he would learn not to see them for the marks they are, but just another feature that makes you his.
Lucerys: If you developed stretch marks he wouldn’t be bothered by such a thing. They are a part of you, and he thinks your figure is beautiful with or without them.
Rhaenyra: I'll tell you what she'd think if she saw your stretch marks. She'd kiss them. She'd tell you that your body, flaws included, is perfect in her eyes. She'd worship you, because she is a lucky woman to be with you, and stretch marks don't make you any less beautiful.
Daemon: It does not make a difference to him. It would, all the same, be a testament to the person that he has decided to make his queen. It would be but a part of you, as all of you is part of you. He would not let something as insignificant as small scars bother him. In fact, he would even love such scars. It would show that no matter what happens, you are still beautiful in his eyes, and you are still his.
Alicent: She believes that stretch marks are an entirely natural part of the human experience. They are caused by a combination of factors, such as pregnancy, growth spurts, or simply due to natural body change. They should be seen as nothing more than simply that. Nothing about stretch marks is unattractive or unappealing in her eyes. In fact, it is quite the contrary. It shows the human experience and that beauty comes from flaws. She sees nothing wrong with them, and she doesn't believe anyone else should either which she makes clear as she shows pure adoration and kisses to those areas.
Helena: It’s hardly different. She would still feel the same. Stretch marks are natural. The only thing it signals is that you have matured. Grown. Changed. All very natural things. No person wants the same body as you had as a child, and she loves you all the same even developing a habit of running her fingers across your skin to relax her.
Harwin: Having a partner with stretch marks is an honor to him. He sees you as a strong and dedicated person if you have children, who have carried them into the world and given of your time and your body in service to your family. The stretch marks are not a defect, but rather a badge of courage and honor. They are the natural scars of something beautiful. He would not have his partner any other way.
Cregan: He sees no reason why it would make a difference. There is beauty in a person's curves. It shows him that you have no fear of eating and drinking. It is good to keep trim and in shape, but to have some extra curves on a person makes you more...pleasing to his eyes, one could say.
Criston: He would be remiss to ignore their presence. However, they are not cause for concern. They are signs of valor, not of weakness. He would comfort and assure you of his love and affection, which has never wavered. The scars tell of strength and commitment. They tell of a story worth hearing, and a person worth knowing or in his case bragging about.

Bastard
Aemond Targaryen x Reader (Daughter of Rhaenyra)
Summary: Aelor finds out that you are not his biological mother.
Disclaimer: English is not my first language so I apologize for any mistakes.
part of the universe of "the queen and her husbands" but can be read independently

It was no secret that Aemond had days when he felt uncomfortable seeing Aelor because he reminded him of Alys Rivers. Still, he always tried to be a good father, one better than Viserys. That's why when he just saw his son enter his chambers with a red face and full of tears he was already ready to cut off the head of whoever he had hurt his son. But that had to wait because now he had to deal with reassuring his child.
"Come here"
Another time Aelor would stay where he was and try to calm himself down. He wanted to show his father that he was already a big boy, but right now all he wanted was to be in his arms and be comforted so he ran to Aemond and let him sit on his lap.
"Why don't you tell me what happened?" Aemond asked as he stroked the boy's back in circles.
"Baelon called me a bastard" replied his son, still crying but at least he didn't seem as agitated as before.
Well, he forgets the murder part because Aemond can't kill his other son but he would definitely punish him for bothering his brother. Though he could already imagine Baelon telling him that he couldn't punish him for telling the truth. It didn't matter that you and Aegon legitimized the boy to the rest of the world, he would always be a bastard.
It was not your intention to lie to Aelor. They never told him that you were his mother, but you didn't deny it when he first called you Muña. He was just copying his siblings and you didn't feel the need to correct him because for you he was another son.
"He also said that Muña is not my mother," he said with a trembling voice "Is it true?" Aelor asked devastated because deep down he already knew the answer. Baelon was right to point out that he didn't look like any of his family. All of his siblings had platinum or blonde hair while he had brown curls. Aemon wanted to make him feel better by telling him that their grandmother, Alicent, also had dark hair but Aelor wasn't a fool. His hair was nothing like their grandmother's.
"Your brother is wrong" Aemond replied instantly. It felt disrespectful for someone to say that because even though you didn't give birth to Aelor, you were the one who took him in first, you were the one who, upon learning of his illness, flew to Harrenhal and took care of him as if he were another one of your children, you were the one who convinced him to bring the child to live with you, you raised him as if he were yours so you were his mother "You were born of another woman" when he saw that his son was about to interrupt him he continued speaking "But your Muña will always be your muña. She loves you more than anything just like she loves your brothers. It doesn't matter that you were not born to her, you are as much her son as your brothers are"
"Your kepa is right," you said from the door, drawing the attention of both. You had found out what happened because Aemon went looking for you worried because he couldn't find Aelor. You were furious when you heard that Baelon had called his brother a bastard, you wanted to question him and find out where he had heard that word from and why he said it to his brother, but you were too worried about Aelor's reaction. You had always feared that once he learned the truth of his parentage, he would hate Aemond, Aegon, and you for killing his birth mother. "You weren't born of me" you started walking towards them "But that doesn't make me love you less than your brothers. You will always be my son" you affirmed as you gently caressed his face.
"You promise?" the boy asked, still not sure. Yesterday Baelon had no problem playing with him and today he seemed to hate him. Grandma had days when she seemed to love him and others when she barely tolerated him. The same with his uncle Egg from him, he sometimes stared at him with deep sadness. What if one day they tell you something and make you stop loving it?
"I promise" you kissed his forehead "How could I stop loving you when you're one of the best huggers around?" you said managing to make Aelor smile. You snatched it from your husband's lap and started tickling him causing the room to fill with the boy's outrageous laughter. You were sure anyone could hear it in the hallways but you didn't care. You just wanted your son to forget about the bad moment that happened.
Aemond looked at them with a smile. He would never stop being grateful to the gods for letting him survive the battle at Eyes God and he would never get tired of seeing you with their children. No matter what the interaction, you could be singing to them, reading to them, playing with them, or, like now, comforting your child. Every time he witnessed the bond between you and the children he always warmed his heart.
"Kepa, help," Aelor asked between laughs.
"I'm sorry, son. But I have a council meeting," Aemond said, drawing your attention.
"Wait, do we have a council meeting?" you stopped tickling your son and put him down instantly, worried that you had forgotten your duty "Aemond!" your husband had taken advantage of your moment of distraction to start tickling you and your son soon joined the attack "You liar" you complain between laughs.
"I'm sorry, my dear wife. But I couldn't let you continue torturing our son."

⤷ gender neutral, ambiguous race, and any size reader. Requests are open, thank you for reading!
a/n: not a soul mate au, but I can write those if anyone wants! Oh, and Aemond is in his 20s.
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ | ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ ᴵᴵ
𝑺𝑭𝑾🌿
・Aemond had always been pessimistic. Even from a young age.
・His family was to blame but more so, it was the trauma of losing his eye.
・Although he told everyone it was worth it as he gained a dragon, there was still a fracture in his soul
・He was heartbroken, that his cousins had crossed a line.
・And along with his physical scar, one of revenge was also scarred within him.
・Aemond, although dutiful, also craved something. Love. He'd never admit it, but it was love. And he promised himself to never pursue it.
・That changed.
・Not suddenly and maybe not completely
・But it changed to the point that he no longer sought retribution. The hot, bitter hatred had begun to cease with each interaction he had with you.
・Such softness you had for him. It was foreign. Even Alicent had her impatience and snapped at him from time to time.
・But you did not. You never did such things. He was apprehensive with you because he was waiting for that moment to arrive. For the calmness to dissipate.
・So there was always a wide birth between the two of you.
・And you let him have his space. He was royalty after all. A Targaryen prince, you could not make him do anything he did not want to.
・But even that changed.
・Someone had insulted you, on your appearance. A lord from a small House, visiting King's Landing.
・And although Aemond had not spoken to you in weeks, he would not hear a bad word come out of anyone's mouth.
・So Aemond absolutely dragged the man until the whole table was laughing at him. Bringing up illegitimate children, visiting whorehouses, talking about the secrets that could get him killed.
・Aemond did not care.
・And in that moment, everyone saw that you were off limits. Even if that was not Aemond's intention.
・In the following weeks, Helaena in all her gentleness and confusingness, beckoned Aemond to pursue you.
・He did so slowly, asking to take a walk with you on the castle grounds. Then came the presents, small ones - a flower on your bed with a note from him.
・Helaena seemed to be his greatest advisor on you.
・There was always a sense of tension with Aemond, but you went with it. Not overstepping or pushing. In truth, you were scared he'd be too overwhelmed and leave you.
・Aemond took the next steps: dinners, outings, even giving you jewellery.
・It wasn't until you gently cupped his cheek one afternoon, that he nearly shattered. The words nearly slipped from his mouth. I love you.
But he needed to know if this was a ruse:
Aemond didn't believe you were serious. That you truly loved him, wholeheartedly. Even he did not love himself. So, he took a piece of your hair and went to a known sorceress.
"I need to know if their words are true. I need to know if this is a trick."
"No trick, my lord," was the old woman's reply. Even in the dim light there was a certain energy around her. That Aemond swore he could ... see.
"How do I know you aren't lying?" His voice was barely above a whisper. But there was demand in it.
"You have given me what I asked for. I have no reason to lie. And to a royal dragon rider no less."
Aemond was silent. Letting the knowledge wash over him.
"You would do well to keep them by your side. A love like that is one in a lifetime."
・Once he was convinced, Aemond ran to you. Grabbing your hand and finding a private place to talk.
"I love you," he was breathless.
・The old dragon Vhagar does not know your face, but knows your smell. She allows you to ride with Aemond because she's aware of your bond.

𝑁𝑆𝐹𝑊 🔞 No one under the age of 18 past this point, I bloody mean it.
・Not a rough lover, no. Not unless you have been teasing him.
・Then he becomes ravenous.
・So really, it's up to you. If you want soft Aemond, then give him respect, love, admiration.
・But if it's rough Aemond you desire, then grab his thigh, inch too close to his cock then move your hand and suck your fingers - do this in front of many people and his eye will be as cold as the sapphire one.
・Aemond loves your body.
・The softness, the warmth.
・Whenever Aegon asked about Aemond's 'type,' all he could say was, "I want someone who is more."
・His crushes on servants, maids, messengers etc were all ones with more curves. He loved imagining their plump round ass stuck in the air, waiting for him to plough them.
・When you know he's had a rough day, or he's been gone for a while, you'll be naked and ready on the bed for him.
・And it's a sight to behold. He imagines it whenever you aren't near. Because even the thought of you, naked and waiting, can bring him to his knees.
・Aemond loves holding your hands above your head, and nudging your thighs apart. Commanding you to keep your hands in the air, he moves down your body, kissing as he goes along, until he's at your sex.
・With a hot, wet tongue he loves teasing you. Making you beg for him, for his cock, for him to be inside you.
・Because that's when you feel the most whole. When your bodies are encased in each other.

Maybe Yan!Alicent and Yan!Criston. I think a romantic dynamic would be interesting
❝ 🐉 — lady l: Someone stop me because I'm writing hcs after hcs lmao! Anyway, I made these hcs in honor of our Green Queen and our Ser Cole, I hope you like them! 💚💚
❝tw: obsessive and possessive behavior, mention of death, polygamous relationship.
❝🐉pairing: yandere!alicent hightower x gn!reader x yandere!criston cole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had caught Alicent's attention a long time ago, when she still fondly remembered the time she was friend with Princess Rhaenyra. She never acted on it, however, always in the shadows observing your interactions with others.
You could read the jealousy, the pure envy in the Queen's brown eyes when she saw you close to someone else. She hated it, she hated them and she hated herself more for wanting you. She was well aware of what she felt but never wanted to confront them. She was afraid.
But she was more afraid of being away from you, of you being separated from her. Alicent didn't have an active participation in your life, but she was tired of seeing you giving attention to those who didn't deserve it, to those who weren't worthy of you. So she decided to act.
Criston followed Alicent's orders blindly, she was his Queen and he had sworn to her. Whatever she asked, he would do without hesitation. And this was no different when he came to you, after being ordered by her.
Cole didn't know exactly why Alicent was so interested in you, but he knew it had nothing to do with him. It was her choice and he would just obey. However, it was only after he contacted you, and spoke to you that he finally understood.
Alicent was the most controlling, imposing her desires and expectations on you. You should be like her, modest and devout. She knew it was wrong to fall in love and even more so to get involved with you, but she didn't care. For the first time in her life, she would be doing something for herself and not for others.
Criston also had his morals and his honor, although less than Alicent. He fell in love quickly and wasn't shy about showing it. He was in love, he wanted to be loved by you. He needed you. Cole is more liberal in his obsession, giving you more freedom.
Once they both realize that they are interested in you, things will get interesting. Normally, they would never agree to share you, but it was with each other, with whom they had a strong and close bond.
They are incredibly possessive, overprotective, and petty in their obsession. They agreed to share you because they knew there would be no one else but them for you. No one who was worthy of you, at least.
Alicent adored you, she loved dressing you in shades of green, combing your hair, and telling you how much she loved you. She was deeply in love with you and you were a breath of fresh air for the Queen after a long day at the council. There was no place she preferred more than your arms.
Criston worships the ground you walk on, always watching your every move like an eagle. His eyes never leaving you and yearning for you with every passing second. He couldn't live without you anymore, not when you were his air.
They protect you fiercely, especially Criston. Anyone who looks or breathes in your direction will be eliminated from the Earth. No one, absolutely no one, can think of hurting you. They are ready to destroy anyone.
You are unconditionally spoiled by them, especially Alicent. She loves showering you with clothes (mostly in green tones), jewelry, shoes and anything else that money can buy. Criston is more modest, but he also spoils you a lot.
They are willing to go against anyone who might threaten you or cause you discomfort. Alicent likes to hold you, brush your shoulders against yours shyly while she admires you. Criston watches you from afar, looking at you with love, and likes to hold your hands.
You can't leave them, not after everything they've done to make sure you stay with them. Any marriage proposals will be quickly shot down and Criston is more than willing to beat any potential suitor to death. And Alicent will support his actions.
There's no escaping them, especially once the Dance of the Dragons begins. You will be under lock and key in the Red Keep. They can't risk losing you. They love you too much so that's why they can't let you go.

DnD Night at Arkham
[They started it on Arkham as a form of group therapy and kept it after they scaped but on a special room on the Iceberg Lounge. Catwoman and Penguin entered later (via Harley and Riddler insidtence respectivaly) and Joker was banned because he kept geting Nat 20s in all his rolls]
.
Riddler: You rescue the hostage. He is a simple human lumberjack. He offers you wood as a payment.
Poison Ivvy: Is the wood ethically sourced?
Riddler: He is a human lumberjack in a medieval scenario I don't think he even knows what ethically sourced wood is.
Poison Ivvy: I cast poison spray on his face. How dare he hurt the trees!
Riddler: Let me roll... You know what, no, he is a normal middle aged lumberjack. He just dies.
Penguin: NO! I wanted that wood! I could have sold it!!
Catwoman: Didn't he had some important information? Pam?!
Poison Ivvy: Well he should had ethically sourced his wood!
Penguin: Edward bring him back right now!
Riddler: I can't just bring him back! Pamela killed him. You should have tried to stop her. Do not blame me, I'm just the DM. By the way your next encounter are his wife and kids.
-
Scarecrow: I cast fear!
Riddler: *rolls dice multiple times* The soldiers fail their test. They are terrifield.
Scarecrow: Good. What are they seeing? What is their fear reaction? How is their heart rate?
Riddler: That's it! Every single time you cast fear you force me to do a ridiculously long description of their reactions no one else cares about. *the other Rogues agree* Please stop.
Scarecrow: People react to fear differently and afraid of different things, Edward, and is my mission to study it.
Riddler: They all see a monster and run.
Scarecrow: That's unrealistic. Not a single one paralyzes? No one screams? They all have the same monster as their biggest fears? Did they had a similar traumatic experience? But even so it wouldn't explain they all having the same reaction. Honestly, that's truly not how real people act.
Riddler: They aren't REAL, Crane. They are FAKE PEOPLE I just MADE UP. They act in any way I want.
Scarecrow: Oh so they are a reflection of your fear of losing control!
Riddler: You keep that and you're out.
Scarecrow: So if I just described their fears and reactions would it make you anxious because you lost control over your "fake people".
Riddler: Anyway is Two-Face's turn. Also Crane you characther is poisoned. He acidentaly steped in a poisonous plant while trying to analyse the soldiers fears.
Scarecrow: That's not fair.
Riddler: Two-Face?
.
Harley: Can I cast a illusion spell to pretend to be his dead wife?
Riddler: I'm interresed. Make your roll.
Mr. Freeze: Don't do that. It's too cruel, this poor man deserves better.
Two-Face: He separated our group in different torment chambers and he is trying to kill us!
Mr. Freeze: But his dead wife! He clearly loves her still and loves her soo much.
Catwoman: I think that's the point...
Riddler: It's up to Harley.
Harley: Does he has a dead daughter?
Riddler: Does he?
Harley: *rolls* NAT 20!
Riddler: He does. He loved her even more than his wife.
Harley: I pretend to be his dead daugther.
Mr. Freeze: See way less cruel.
.
Riddler: *starts giggling*
Two-Face: ugh.
Harley: oh no.
Penguin: Is another puzzle maze isn't it?
Catwoman: Please don't be another puzzle maze.
Riddler: Is not a puzzle maze!
*everyone celebrates*
Riddler: You guys see yourselfs trapped in a beutifull, amazing, perfectly done... death trap! : )
*everyone boos*
.
MadHatter: Can I kiddnap his kid, Dormouse?
Riddler: You can?????!
Catwoman: Why? Why do you want to kiddnap the royal's guard kid?
MadHatter: She has a Cheshire cat.
Scarecrow: Is not a Cheshire Cat is just a cat called Cheshire.
MadHatter: Same thing, March Hare.
Harley: Kiddnap the cat!
MadHatter: But than she'll be alone. If I take booth of them, they will be together as Alice and the Cheshire Cat. She'll be ny daugther and we will be a Woonderland family.
Poison Ivvy: Her name is Ophelia.
MadHatter: If I succeed in kidnapping her can I change her name, Dormouse?
Riddler: I supose?
Two-Face: Don't fucking encourage him, Nygma!
.
Two-Face: I attack the sphinx with my sword of shadows. *rolls the dice* Dammit Nat 1.
Riddler: Your paladin tries to attack the sphinxs, his sword does no damage. The sphinxs smiles cruely. How dare you try to solve matters of the mind with muscles??? YOU TRULY ARE ALL BRAWL AND NO BRAINS! YOU ARE THROWED AGAINST THE WALL. YOUR HP DROPS TO ONE. NOW YOUR ONLY CHANCE IS TO SOLVE THE IMPOSSIBLE RIDDLE. HOW DARE YOUR MORAL PALADIN OF JUSTICE THINK HE COULD JUST PUNCH ME AWAY? YOU HAVE NO CHANCE DARK NIGHT! NO CHANCE AT ALL AHAHAHA. TODAY IS THE END OF BATMAN AHAHAHAHA *everyone looks at Riddler* *he blushes* i mean ... is harley's turn...
.
Two-Face: I steal his sword. I finally have two swords!
Harley: But both need two hands to use.
Two-Face: Perfection.

I have to say that the first episode was almost perfect.
I know, I'm surprised myself.
First things I didn't like, since for once this will be shorter.
1. Rhaenyra and Alicent being friends make my blood boil. It was done for no other reason than to make Alicent look more sympathetic. They had to do something I guess, since showing her on the screen without Gyldayn reminding you every second paragraph what a wonder she was, makes her look like a cunt to any sane person. Her simply following her father's bidding can turn into an interesting storyline, though. I'll give it time to grow.
2. Jaehaerys sitting in Harrenhal during Great Council of 101 was a terrible choice and it is important to the plot, since this whole thing was one big scam.
3. The Iron Throne and those swords look absolutely ridiculous. I laughed so hard I had to make a pause to go take a piss.
4. Daemon's armor. That's it. Nothing else to add.
5. I can tell that they've tried to make wigs look better but it's still not enough.
6. Rhaenyra's whole talk with Aemma about birth and swords is simply eye-rolling. She's just returned from her ride on what is an atomic bomb of the known world and she's talking about knights. Right.
7. Corlys shouldn't even be there. I like that he and Rhaenys are being introduced in the first episode, but again, I find it important to show how big of a rift between the family this damn Council was.
8. I always believed that "the queen who never was" was a slur, not a prise.
9. No purple eyes, hair colours are all mixed up, but it's nothing new for HBO so I don't really care.
And that's it. The rest was fun in the best meaning of the word.
1. I love how they show you that Rhaenyra is smart and knowledgeable and at the same time absolutely bored with book studies. Fuck the septa, Alicent, I'm a frickin Princess.
2. Her dresses looked very nice.
3. I liked how smoothly they've established that Rhaenys has Baratheon's blood. I was worried about it since they've changed her hair colour.
4. Dragons look good.
5. Even though he shouldn't be there at that time, Corlys was wonderful in every scene.
6. I didn't have to watch Ser Cunt naming Rhaenyra the Queen of love and beauty. That was such a big win, yes, thank the gods.
7. Love that they've kept the little hint of Aemma losing all of her children except for Rhaenyra.
8. I'm also glad they've kept the part of Viserys getting cut by the Iron Throne. I'm hoping they will show us the strange inability of the maester to heal it. As well as show us Aegon getting rid of the man.
9. Golden cloaks? Perfect. Just perfect.
10. They did Daemon justice. This is the biggest shock to me. Almost everything was there, jeez.
Daemon spends his nights with Mysaria. He's not cutting people limbs for the sake of it. He is the only person on the Small Council who actually cares for the future of his House. They bring up the fact that he is the only military power Viserys has, that given the Council of 101 it's perfectly normal for him to be an heir. They not only tell, but show you the way he keeps getting pushed away from his brother.
Yes. YES to all of it. I'm ready to give someone a medal for writing it this well.
11. Every scene with Rhaenyra and Daemon, because they are perfect. They are also speaking valyrian, just like they should.
12. Daemon calling Otto a cunt.
13. The Long Night reveal seemed like oversimplifying a thing or two, but I will take it for this medium. The bigger picture stuff is long overdue anyway. Especially the prophetic dreams. Can I get my Children of the forest being creepy now?
14. Dragons have saddles. Finally!
15. Glad they didn't make Viserys an outright drunken fool but a fool nevertheless.
16. They didn't show us Daemon saying it! They cut away to Otto mentioning his witnesses 🙄. They've really done it. I want to kiss the writer.
So yeah, I enjoyed it. Very much so. I'm less worried about the rest of this show now for sure.

The fact that Alicent’s stans deluded themselves into thinking that she’s the reason Rhaenyra wasn’t beset by assassins in episode 9 and did something because she raised her voice to someone but the moment her father talked to Lord Westerling she remained in silence, it was his refusal that saved Rhaenyra, not Alicent.
And sending terms for Rhaenyra to deliver her toddler sons to live under Aegon II’s sadistic will as hostages is hardly defending Rhaenyra or doing any good to her, that’s fucking miserable, it’s insane how y’all believe that those terms were good, it’s awful on the show and on the book.
I get it now Alicent spent 10 years harassing and tormenting Rhaenyra and her underage children, openly saying she wanted her father there to take her side even tho she knew her wishes meant exile or even death to Rhaenyra because she was trying to influence the inevitable and protect Rhaenyra, true love 😍
Delusion--sometimes they are fun, harmless birds caressing us into safety, other times it's a steel band slowly starving us of or own intellect.
What really irks me are the damn terms being mischaracterized as harmless stipulations as if the greens (Alicent & Otto) are far more likely to be uncharitable to Rhaenyra's children than the reverse.
[Regardless of truebornness or illegitimacy, bc w/their regard for those not-illegitimate kids when they did live at the keep, they already showed they don't care all that much for how young and vulnerable and worthy of protection a child is; Daemon is more or less under rhaenyra's thumb and no I do not care about the choking scene bc no it is NOT even consistent with DaemonxRhaenyra--if they wanted to establish Daemon was abusive towards her, they should have shown scenes of him intimidating her or something in episodes 7-8! so I do not even think of this scene as HotD "canon" and you cannot convince me otherwise! just as I do not think Criston is Dornish in the show no matter what Alicent said or what he looked like--esp since if he was Dornish, it's far more likely he'd still look pale bc the northernest Dornish--the "stony" Dornish as Daeron I later calls them--are paler people who look your "typical" Westerosi..the Martells' looks are not ubiquitous in Dorne! Write better, and then I'll perhaps respect your storytelling.]
And while there are some sweet and rational rhaenicent shippers out there, the ship simply never made sense in the way that it was written in the show. Their development as close friends was never shown, and for how different they are, it needed to be shown! Especially with:
how Alicent really didn't seem to understand Rhaenyra as a person for her to act as she does in the Sept episode and attempting to reinforce "girls don't involve themselves with the politics of men" despite Rhaenyra being the freaking heir // while this is happening, Alicent visiting the king, with there being no sign of even hesitance , guilt, or desire to tell Rhaenyra about it--similar to how Criston should have known Rhaenyra would never leave with him and abandon her family or "duty" or the prospect of becoming the first queen of Westeros after years of everyone's doubt (2)
how she uses her queenly-stepmotherly authority over her (3)
how she continues this in her approach to her in that "queenly" way, accusing Rhaenyra PLUS the implication of her disapproving of her actions despite having to have known how Rhaenyra has felt Viserys has shunted her for most of her life....(4)
From the beginning, alicent has been too much of a ruler-follower to appeal to rhaenyra AND she has thought that for rhaenyra to be happy or at least content with her life, she must also conform to the obedient social rules of feminine conduct--ignoring any presence of inner conflict Rhaenyra has had or pondering over it.

I'll rephrase, Alicent in the first episodes after the time skip treat rhaenyra like shit before aemond's episode and whisper to aegon how he will become king, so, in this time rhaenyra did nothing to be seen as a threat to alicent's children. And mostly because alicent is aware that viserys loves only rhaenyra, alicent should have preserve her relationship with rhaenyra if she really care for her children, not give rhaenyra a reason to hate her. The cold truth is that before aemond's episode most of alicent's choise are guided not by the love she have for her children but by her resentment toward rhaenyra. Alicent herself plant the seed for the dance, not rhaenyra. She crown aegon aware that rhaenyra will not bend the knee and that houses will support her but still forces aegon to take the crown and start a war, the reason why her children are in danger ARE HER NOT RHAENYRA. When people say that they're happy for alicent's end honestly i can't agree more because all the blood of the dance, not only her children or rhaenyra's but the blood of everyone, is on her shoulders and on her choise.
***EDIT AT BOTTOM***
ok, so, gonna try and be nice, but I've tackled takes close to this one before, and I'm getting a wee bit tired of it, but I'm gonna do it again anyway.
Alicent had no reason, to respect, love, or foster a relationship with Rhaenyra during the timeskip, and tried her hardest to prior to the timeskip, only to get walked all over, so she stopped trying.
I've gone over this in a few posts like this, this, and this one (these are similar takes, not exactly catering to this one exactly, so like, take them with a pinch of salt and focus on what caters to this take if your gonna go through reading them), but Alicent does not owe Rhaenyra any good will, at all, point blank.
Alicent tried for years, long enough to have 2 children, to reforge her relationship with Rhaenyra. this was after she was prayed upon by a grown ass man who forced her hand in marriage (after her own father sent her to the mans chambers, and if you try and argue she had any choice or say, or try to blame her for her marriage to Viserys I will gladly just send you to my many posts as to why that's a straight up lie, cause I've beaten that horse beyond death, its pulverized) and Rhaenyra treated her like absolute garbage, abandoning her in her greatest time of need. but she still tried to rekindle that bond, tried to include rhaenyra, tried to befriend her, she tried, and Rhaenyra walked all over her, leaving her completely alone outside of Viserys, her father, and her children.
Alicent tried, time and time again to help Rhaenyra as well. she tried to give Rhaenyra a choice in her marriage, kept Viserys's temper calm with her, helped set up a grand tour with dozens of suitors for her to pick from, a good grace no noble girl, or any girl really, could ever dream of.
when Rhaenyra had her scandal with Daemon and Criston, she tried her hardest to protect her then, even when it hurt her to do so. she believed Rhaenyra when she lied to her, on her dead mothers name, making a fool of herself in front of Viserys. she proclaimed Rhaenyra's innocence only to find out she had not only lied, but from her prospective, she had slept with two men in one night, one of those times it was coerced (since she had no way of knowing Rhaenyra hadn't gone all the way with Daemon), and that while her father received punishment and was removed from KL (leaving her alone at court), Viserys still didn't believe her and sent her the tea.
that is a lot for one person to process, especially from someone they considered a close friend to do to them. to be treated with cruelty over a marriage she had no say in and was hurt by immensely, lied to, used, walked all over, and abandoned none the less? I would have hated her too.
Rhaenyra goes on to do whatever she wants at court, while Alicent suffers her fate of duty. she has bastards and proclaims them legitimate, showing she has yet to change whatsoever since that event, an event that has had a negative impact on Alicent's life. Viserys turns a blind eye to it, as he practically had with the scandal (cause a moon tea and a marriage is barely anything compared to the consequence's Rhaenyra should have faced. not wishing ill on Rhaenyra either, just saying the heir to the iron throne deserves a little more than a pat, not even a slap, on the wrist for that). she's angry, its understandable.
and yet, even through her anger, she keeps her temper. sure she speaks to Viserys and Cole about it, but thats her husband, Rhaenyra's father, and her sworn sword and seemingly only trusted friend. at court (especially prior to the time skip) she is amiable, if a little passive aggressive. she protect Rhaenyra's name more than she has to, is respectful when she doesn't have to, even keeps those around her to honor some level of repsect when it comes to Rhaenyra when she doesn't have to (namely calling Criston when he calls her a cunt).
when they usurp her, she orders no harm to come to Rhaenyra and stands up to her manipulative father after years of falling to his words, and orders that he follow her lead, because she doesn't want to hurt Rhaenyra if its not necessary.
will I say she was the kindest person in the whole wide world to Rhaenyra? never, that's laughable. will I say she was kinder, more respectful, and protected her more than Rhaenyra ever even attempted to be, let alone was towards her? 100% absolutely.
she never wanted to have a bad relationship with Rhaenyra, but one person can only take so much before they break. she couldn't try anymore, Rhaenyra made it clear that Alicent was nothing more than a means to an end for her, that she would step on her if she needed to. Alicent shouldn't be expected to put up with that.
she attempted to remain amiable over the years, to keep some semblance of peace within the house until Rhaenyra was a threat, which honestly would have most likely happened regardless, as we've seen, Rhaenyra will step over whoever it takes to keep her head above water, being friends probably would have doomed Alicent and her kids even faster.
Alicent was never the seed of the dance, Rhaenyra and Viserys were. Viserys allowed Rhaenyra to grow into the person she was, a person who sought self benefit with little care for the realm and her image, she doomed herself and Alicent was caught in the crossfire. to
expecting someone to kiss another person's feet, even after that person has kicked them into the dirt time and time again, when that person had even tried to grovel and make friends once more for years, only to blame them when they don't, when they pick themselves up out of the dirt and brush themselves off and act in their own (rightful) self interest, for a war that they never wanted and were merely a pawn in, is actually wild to me.
Alicent acted well in her own rights towards Rhaenyra and it brought her nothing but pain. she tried to be respectful and dutiful for the house and the courts sake and Rhaenyra only became more of a threat. she tried her best to protect her children, the kingdom, and rhaenyra, and was faced with war, the death of her children, and her own demise. one woman can only do and be so much, and its never enough.
and if you want to point out the ways Alicent could have been better, start pointing out the ways Rhaenyra could have been, cause her list is a lot longer. they both weren't perfect, but Alicent was forced into a life she did not ask for, given children to protect that went unloved and unwanted by their father, thrown into a conflict that had been building for years, and still tried, Rhaenyra made her own bed and refused to lay in it. one deserves more blame for the war than the other.
Edit: one thing I forgot to mention in both posts. Alicent stopped trusting Rhaenyra after her father was removed from court, rightfully so, cause she saw Rhaenyra would always get away with anything at the expense of others, and then years pass, so yeah, she wants Aegon to be king. is this wise or kind of her? I don't know, I think she's fucking earned it, we have 0 idea what has happened in those years inbetween, other than Rhaenyra having 3 bastards and claiming them as legitimate. I'd be pissed, I'd be scared (cause thats threat enough alone in my opinion), and I'd want to push my own legitimate children, especially if I had been at the but of Rhaenyra's behavior prior, I would not trust that situation to go anyway but belly up for me. if you disagree so be it, I'm not gonna convince anyone to change their minds on this specific scene. she told Aegon he would be king because despite not being a massive sore thumb of a threat, she's still, as a female heir with a firstborn son right behind her, a threat to her children nonetheless (cause politics, yippee, I don't like it but its true). she knew it would be Rhaenyra or her child, and she would always pick her son.
#Alicent owed Rhaenyra no kindness and still tried to anyway#she wasn't a saint towards her but who can blame her#her cruelty is really only one scene where rhaenyra pushed herself to make a point#(alicent asked to see the baby with viserys present. she didn't ask for rhaenyra to bring him herself. big difference)#and than rightful frustration towards her after years of Rhaenyra spitting in the face of her. the court. the kingdom. her station. etc.#she was pissed#she earned the right to be pissed#it shows cause she's human#but I would hardly call that cruelty compared to what rhaenyra did to her time and time again#stop expecting victims to lick their abusers teeth like some kicked puppy#its weird#alicent hightower#pro alicent hightower#pro team green#anti team black#anti team black fans#hotd#house of the dragon#the way TB minimizes the abuse of some characters and amplifies the slights of others is wild#and calling alicent the seed of the war and blaming all of the bloodshed on her is actually insane#like what?#just cause she wouldn't worship rhaenyra and ignore years of pain and suffering she brought her. let alone the threat she posed to her and-#her kids. somehow equates to her causing a whole fucking war when it was Viserys's naivity. Rhaenyra's lack of care for her image and-#position in the realm. and the overall house of cards waiting to topple of shitty decisions by half the cast that did it. but yeah. blame-#alicent. makes total sense.#I'm tired of this shit man#this fandoms wild

The Strongs are not the good guys in Alys' story! They made her their servant and wet nurse for their babies when she herself was unmarried. What does that mean anon? It means in the best interpretation they were cruel and in the worst they must have abused her themselves!
Read critically what u consume.
The only sin Aemond did against the Strongs as far as we know and can be sure was murdering the young boys. That was wrong.
But in Alys scenario, aemond has done less/no canonical abuse than her own family.
Hi nonnie, thanks for the ask.
Careful now, you are making too much sense! Your theory would be the most obvious take-away for anyone familiar with the world of asoiaf. Bastards are not treated well unless you were fortunate enough to be sired by Stark male member (because Starks usually do not subject kids through brutal ostracization because of some mediaeval honor-code: Jon and Theon are good examples of that!) -- BUT other than that, you were pretty much fucked! Rhaenyra's bastards fared well because 1) the mother held a more privileged position (due to which her kids were ensured certain protection), and 2) admitting their bastardry would have tried Rhaenyra, Harwin and Laenor for treason.
Secondly, I think it is fair to conclude that House Strong wasn't some tight-knit 'loving' family. Sure, we've seen brothers gossiping during Rhaenyra and Laenor's wedding but apart from that, the house functions like any other Westerosi house. Lyonel Strong doesn't confront the truth about his grandsons until Harwin makes a fool out of himself in the courtyard.. and by then, the severity of the said matter was long-overdue and extremely consequential to the point of non-avoidance. The younger brother didn't even flinch before killing off his dear father and brother for some political gain. If Larys 'the Clubfoot' Strong did not feel any kinship with his family, then one can assume that reception of a known bastard is going to be less than ideal.
Thirdly, we still don't know how are they going to portray Aemond during his Riverrun arc. I keep saying it because Aemond (along with Alicent and Rhaenyra) is altered from his canon version. In the show, Aemond never insults Rhaenyra and only ever maintains a cold indifference towards her. He isn't shown to be some raging misogynist. He only insults the Strong bastards after Luke displays an absurd lack of self-awareness during that dinner scene. And in the Storm's End segment, he doesn't chase after Luke due to some back-handed comment from Maris... but rather, that conflict is shown as an extension to the last dinner scene. BUT the most telling of all is how Luke was killed off in a supposed accident - meaning that Aemond never intended to kill him in the first place. Interestingly enough, there was a deleted scene where we see Aemond giving the camera an evil look, but that part got cut in post-production for some reason. Instead, they chose to end the scene with his distressed expression.
Now, do I believe Aemond will experience some radical arc change? NO! But the way the future events unfold will be certainly DIFFERENT! That's why I am both skeptical and mildly optimistic about how the show might portray their relationship. Aemond and Alys are both heavily misunderstood characters - and this alone opens a massive potential for this couple than some other speculated ships. That being said, this ongoing hate for Alysmond is very forced - and it says a lot when the majority fandom has just discarded her as someone put their beloved prince 'under a spell' or is a homewrecker for pulling Aemond from their own crackship.

I just started reading dragon jaws and love it so much!! I CANT wait for the next part 🫶🏽
Hiii thank you so much 💜💜💜
I was trying to write it in a "normal" (narration) format instead of the usual, but it was definitely not flowing, so instead I'm writing it in the "headcanons" style.
Here's a discarded fragment as a thank you for waiting this long:') exclusive content ig
(obviously, spoilers ahead for all of the previous parts of Dragon Jaws)
Aemond
Alicent and her children had been guarding Y/N's sleep in the following hours of the night she fainted. It may have been that the passing of his sire had her stomach in knots and her head anywhere but here, because where she usually would have been praying to the seven for Y/N's recovery, she was watching her from a chair, serenely. Aemond was clever, clever enough to sense his mother had something to do with her cousin's sudden ilness, and clever enough not to ask about it.
She looked so beautiful while blissfully unaware. The expression on her face would quickly morph to one of disgust once she woke up to find him. She had made clear that the affection they once shared, was gone for good, though Aemond did not consider he had done anything to earn that sentiment from her.
He continued to scan her face, her mouth was slightly open and a dry trail of saliva laid in her right lip corner to her chin, the plush skin of her cheeks looked puffy and maleable like a cloud. If it was anyone else, Aemond would have found it disgusting, vulgar, but this was his darling cousin, the only person that was worth a dime in his eye. Said eye trailed lower, the blanket was covering her body, but it was still easy to make sense of the shapes, her tits were free thanks to the nightgown the handmaidens put her in, so they would wiggle when she moved in her sleep. «would it be too imprudent of me to open up the courtains? just a little bit, to see the nipples get hard»
He wondered how would she react to see him ogling her sleeping form without any trace of shame, would she pull the covers up to protect herself? Would she spit curses at him? It was an easy image to get hard to, yet he didn't like it for too long, Aemond wanted her beloved to reciprocate, to willfully open her legs and bat her eyelashes in an effort to seduce him.
Would Y/N do that if it was Daeron the one blatantly lusting after her? No, his pusillanimous brother would never do that in plain sight. And perhaps that was his wildcard, his winning move.
Oh, but the boy would brag and boost about all the letters they exchanged, and his mother would smile and declare how she'd make a wonderful wife when the time was right. His eye flamed with jealousy as he excused himself every single time, his mother would then come to console him about how "there was progress" and Y/N would come around eventually. He knew it was a lie.
When Alicent decided she could no longer postpone the matters after it, she left Aemond and Helaena alone in the room with her, ser Criston was watching the door.
Helaena seemed absorbed in her own mind, as per usual. She was stitching, Aemond did not care to look what it was. Most of Helaena's "pieces" lacked meaning and sense to the common eye. Aemond felt pity for his sister, in a matter of hours, she will become the queen of his drunk husband, the queen of the man who will be called usurper. He examined his sister, chubby skillful fingers playing with threads and needles, her gaze looking at nowhere «she will be eaten alive» she was too absent from this world to make a good queen, much less a good survivor. It was clear Rhaenyra and Daemon will not let the crown slip from their fingers so easily, that was what his cousin was here for —or so he hoped— because they would not declare war knowing the little princess of hearts was here. So peaceful, so unaware of the power she holds at this very moment.

Hi popcorn! Firstly I love your fics, they are such a wild ride lol and you can tell how much effort you’ve put into them. I found it interesting to have the Aegon/Helaena match be suggested by Otto, I’d always imagined it as Alicent’s idea to show their “Targaryen-ness” to the world. In your fic, who was Alicent considering for Argon’s wife instead do you think, since she knew he would someday need a “Queen”. Or was she just not thinking that far ahead lol
Hi there 😊 and sorry for this delay.
Thank you so much for your beyond kind words, and yes, it was much effort 🥲
I do believe the idea came from Otto in canon (Fire&Blood - asoiaf) so I wanted to keep it the same here. Otto was always the "head" behind the Greens, the one actually trying to do something and to move the pieces to first try to name Aegon as heir - before being dismissed in 109 AC - and then trying to name him king - in 129 AC. Alicent was always too preoccupied with finding ways to insult and spread rumours about Rhaenyra - e.g., "Do keep trying, eventually you might get one who looks like you." and "Ser Criston protects the princess from her enemies but who protects the princess from Ser Criston" - but she actually did very little that was useful to their cause. The only thing she actually did that was a smart move was getting Criston Cole to their side, but again, this is painted more as something to spite Rhaenyra, and having a good ally comes second.
I can actually see it being maybe part Otto for wanting to give Aegon a Targaryen wife to have Targaryen children - as noted by Lord Beesbury it did seem like not being full Targaryen/being less Targaryen than Rhaenyra could be used against him so this would be a smart move - and part maybe Eustace who was the court's confessor and liked Aegon as an attempt to get him to behave (i.e., stop sleeping around so much and being so lazy). Indeed, this is posed in "Fire and Blood" as one of the reasons to wed Aegon to Helaena, that being a husband and father could "calm him down" in a sense. Job well failed as we know, but to his credit, we have no evidence of Aegon mistreating Helaena, and actually evidence that he seemed to care for her a little bit (e.g., being jealous when Jacaerys asked to dance with her) and also for his children. He went half mad himself when Jaehaerys died, drinking to numb his pain, so he wasn't an unfeeling monster by any sense.
At the end of the day though, the final decision belonged to the King, but no doubt the Small Council would support this, even because, the vast majority for them with the death of Lord Lyonel Strong in 120 AC where Greens, and this was what Viserys decided. And mind you, he had had a 13 year old wife who had problems in the birthing bed for being bedded to soon, but that didn't stop him from wedding 13 year old Helaena off to Aegon.
Father of the Year 🙄
As for the second part of your question, Aegon was still only 15. I don't think Alicent was considering who he was to marry just yet.
PS: Asoiaf canon and characters only, so please leave the lizard redacted show out of it. Thanks!

Do you have any Aerea (Fem Aegonii) headcanons?
omg tumblr is such a doozy I didn't get a notif for this ask!! yes yes I love Aerea so so much - she's one of my favorites to write and sharing more about always makes me happy! let's go. For those of you who might find this ask randomly, Aerea is F!Aegon II in my fic The Protector of The Realm.
F!Aegon II (Aerea) Headcanons
❀ Aerea, as Alicent and Viserys's firstborn, was a very anticipated birth. From the very moment it was known Alicent is pregnant it was expected to be a boy by others at court. She was supposed to be named Aegon, but since she turned out to be a girl, they ended up naming her Aerea after the late Aerea Targaryen (daughter of Aegon the Uncrowned) who was also a rider of Balerion, just like Viserys. "That she may live in happiness her namesake couldn't have." Alicent was very grateful to her first baby be a daughter - it meant less people felt threatened by it, and the status quo didn't shift quite yet.
❀ Granted, peacefulness is not a thing for Alicent. Aside from the fact a boy soon followed, Aerea also proved to be a very demanding child. She loved attention and compliments and was as clingy as she was extroverted. She drove all her servants out of their wits, as well as followed her mother, father and half-sister everywhere.
❀ Much of her interactions with others depend on how they treat her. Aemma (F!Aemond) is contentious with her so they butt heads (Aerea's the only one who is allowed to insult her though) and Daella (F!Daeron) is very sweet to her so Daella gets Aerea's more sisterly caring side. Rhaegal (M!Helaena) needs his own section of headcanons for their development so I won't get to it here lol
❀ Aerea grew up hearing about Rhaenyra being the Realm's delight and the first female heir to booth and took Rhaenyra as a childhood role model. She wanted to be just like her, just as pretty and just as loved. Even when Rhaenyra had rumors around her about what she was doing, Aerea being young and impresonable, simply wanted to follow her steps, party in the city and have whoever she wanted - after all, if her sister can, why can't she?
❀ But the reactions to Aerea's transgressions had been much different than for Rhaenyra. While their father turned a blind eye to Rhaenyra, Aerea immediately got engaged to her baby brother when rumors started about her. Many scoldings from Otto (harsher) and Alicent (gentler) came about, and she started realizing most of her friends that were around her are the ones who spread the rumors further. Feeling betrayed and not understanding why she's the exception, she turned very bitter at that. (later on she'd realize it wasn't that she was the exception - it was Rhaenyra who was. That made her feel even worse. Drinking became worse from there. By the time Driftmark happens, Aerea can't stand Rhaenyra and the favoritism at all.)
❀ She grew cynical about the court then. She has many ladies in waiting but only one true friend among them; she has good social skills (she's all snide remarks and jests) but she feels the vast majority of her friendships are superficial and really only there because of what others stand to gain from her.
❀ Aerea places much of her worth around her sexuality. She at first feels lost as the middle child between the perfect Rhaenyra and Rhaegal who is the only son, and realized she isn't going to get much attention or affection from people around her because she's considered a wayward daughter (Viserys compared her to Saera, Jaehaerys I's daughter before). Getting attention and affection for her sexuality has been easier however,so she basks in that. It is very difficult for her to think people would love her for more than that, and that also made things difficult in her marriage to Rhaegal at first as he is more about emotion than physicality, and he was very young when they married (she was 15 and he was 13 and generally still uninterested in more than his bugs), still just her little brother in her mind. It was equal parts "you are literally a baby" and "why don't you want me?" because she desperately needs that validation, and she feels like she can't get it anywhere else. ❀ She couldn't be more different than Aegon II in regards to her children, though. When the twins are born, unlike Aegon who is pretty distant from his family unit, Aerea is very aggressive and defensive about her children. Nobody will be allowed to talk about them the way people spoke about her. If she hears one unfavorable word from a servant they're OUT. She had a difficult birth with them being surprise twins and being 'less than perfect' but god damn they will never hear they are not perfect from anyone if it's up to her.
❀ Finally, you will most often find Aerea in gold and pink dresses; she took to Sunfyre's colors very much (gold for the scales and pink for the membranes). She and Sunfyre have an very close bond. They are a wonder to look at in the air. Could I have written more? Yes, I can go on for hours. Will I stop here? also yes. Aerea my beloved.

Loving all the ATBT snippets so far (I think I'm all caught up) 😥 Would you be willing to share more headcanons about Jasper's side of things? Especially Jasper/Tanya vs Jasper/Alice--how/when did both hookups start and why house vs woods?
Hi! Of course! Thank you so much for reading it, I know it's depressing!
Jasper in ATBT is a bit of a lost soul, who covers up a lot of his problems and issues by constantly reminding himself that he should be grateful for what he has. That living with crippling depression is his penance for everything that he did in the south. Any suffering is his own fault, and he needs to man up and live with it.
At one point, there was going to be two separate fics - one for Alice (ATBT) and one for Jasper (I think it was called All the Lies I Never Told? I honestly can't remember) to better explain that he had his own problems and he wasn't just being a jerk as a plot device. I'll probably just combine them into ATBT as Part 1 and Part 2.
It took decades for Jasper to consider the Cullens friends, let alone agree to stay with them 'temporarily' because he truly believed that he deserved to be alone. It took longer still for him to become part of the family - he definitely cared and liked the Cullens, but he didn't feel deserving of any kindness or affection they offered him.
Edward and Carlisle tag-teamed for many years to try and get Jasper into a healthier mindset, and one less prone to picking fights or starving himself in penance (basically the one time Edward is allowed to speak about someone's private thoughts is when they turn to violent or harmful intentions. This rule was introduced after Rosalie dealt with Royce, even though Edward has clearly stated he didn't stop her then and he wouldn't stop her now.)
And before Bella and James and Alice, Jasper was doing pretty well within the family; he got on with them all, he had enough control over his bloodlust to attend school, and he wasn't spending his spare time contemplating various forms of self-harm. Esme and Carlisle did watch over him from a distance to make sure that he was traveling okay, checking in with each other that he was socializing and hunting enough, that he wasn't isolating himself from the family, and that his mood seemed neutral-positive. Basically the same rough set of guidelines they used for Rosalie at the end of her newborn year.
And then Bella arrives, and she's Edward's singer. That causes some drama, especially since Jasper has to be convinced not to eliminated Bella because of the risk to the family and it takes a lot more effort in this universe.
Then James arrives with Alice in tow and shit hits the fan even more.
Jasper is suddenly faced with this terrified, vulnerable girl who constantly emits all the emotions he's spent years overcoming. She never feels safe, she's constantly afraid or worried, and she's almost always hungry. And to make it even worse for him, she seems to focus on him and he's terrified that this girl has decided since all the other men in the family are taken, he's being cast as her savior and the one who can offer her the Cullen dream. He can't do that, in his mind he's barely a Cullen, and absolutely incapable and unfit to be a husband.
And he's so goddamn lonely; something that has become extremely obvious to him since Edward met Bella. Suddenly, he's the one left out; the spare. He doesn't deserve a wife, he won't ever have a wife, but that doesn't mean he doesn't secretly want someone.
And he figures that he and Alice can be lonely together. She seems interested and it's all consensual, and maybe he's a little less lonely. It starts around the beginning of summer after Twilight.
At no time in the canon-arc does Alice share her visions of the family with them, or her visions of Jasper. So Jasper has no context for why she likes him.
Then he starts to catch feelings. At first, it's a lot sympathy and horror as more of her story comes out, and a feeling of over-protectiveness - she's so small and breakable, and she's here to stay so she's one of them. She's always so happy when he spends any kind of time with her, and she's never said anything about his scars or acted repulsed by them. Alice might shy away from Carlisle and Emmett, but she's never acted like that to him.
And if the birthday party had gone differently, it might have been more simple for them to fall in love. But he was blindsided by everything, and can only focus on the fact that Alice knew something was going to happen. She left him vulnerable, she let him slip. And he was furious because Cullens don't do that. The Cullens have always had each other's back. So he lashes out at her and breaks whatever tentative thing they have between them, and really never acknowledges how damaging that night was to both of them.
Post Volterra, Jasper's in a place where Alice is less clingy to him, and where a lot of the family focus is on Victoria, the wolves, and keeping Bella safe. Bella is extremely vulnerable in this situation, and takes up focus that Esme and Carlisle would normally direct towards Alice or towards Jasper. With Victoria back in the picture, Alice becomes more out of sorts and reaches out to Jasper who decides that she's crossed his invisible boundary and needs to be reminded of the role he's mentally assigned her. Enter Tanya.
To start off, I hate Tanya being cast as a villain because she had the audacity to have romantic or sexual inclinations towards Edward in canon. I think it's cheap and lazy, especially when Tanya et al are considered so close to Carlisle and the Cullens in general. In ATBT, Tanya had no idea that Jasper and Alice had some ambiguous 'thing' going on and she's genuinely embarrassed - and pissed - that Jasper orchestrated that moment of getting caught, especially since it was clearly about making Alice feel bad. There will be a confrontation about that at some point.
Tanya is very old and has seen and done things - especially in the years before Kate and Irina were changed - that were fairly horrific. Add in Sasha's death, and she knows what survivor's guilt feels like. She and Jasper hit it off as friends decades ago; she appealed to him because she was so friendly and intelligent, she had a certain amount of empathy towards his ugly past, and didn't seem to be all that cautious of him. Their 'friends with benefits' is something that just kind of happened in the late 70s, continued off and on, and other than a couple of jokes from Emmett, is very much considered something between Jasper and Tanya, and doesn't need to be acknowledged by either family.
Edward's mostly grateful, because he feels like he's got a solid defense against Tanya's pursuit. It's not something that Jasper and Tanya talk about it or have particular guidelines for; it's just one of the things they can do when they're together. (Esme was very disappointed that it wasn't a romantic connection because she thought it would be a beautiful love story.)
The house vs the forest is pretty straightforward - Jasper wanted privacy, didn't want to risk anyone interrupting him and Alice; and he noticed Alice was always more relaxed in the woods. They could also conceal their activities with the claims that they were going hunting - which worked up to a point, then Esme and Carlisle were kind of "we're both pretending not to believe them, right?"
By the time Tanya arrives to help with the wedding, there's no more 'Alice needs to hunt excessively' excuse; the family already know what he and Tanya get up to; and Jasper is actively trying to draw boundaries between him and Alice. In his mind, Jasper doesn't believe that the house is more respectable than the forest - his study was private, and he knew Alice would come looking for him there. He would be mortified that Alice assumed that he took her to the woods because she was embarrassing to be with.
So yeah, it's a very emotionally messy fic, and relies a lot upon both Alice and Jasper's willingness to reflect, heal, and communicate.
Okay, I think I rambled enough about this. Asking me about any of my fics is always going to inspire a long essay of information because I love to ramble.

Lol if it was ShOckING then how can it be expected and something "we shouldnt feel surprised by"? Even with shocking character moments in got they were still expected and made sense for them. Events like the jaime attacking ned or cersie putting joff on the throne never left an audience confused after and go on the internet to try scramble an excuse for them because we understood who these characters were and what matters to them as they played on screen. No one was actually thinking that daemon would still be hung up over being replaced as viserys' heir 20yrs later and be so angry as to hurt rhaenyra his brothers daughter and wife over it. Like if the writers had done their job in showing who daemon really is than the moment daemon and rhaenyra started having conflict and were alone together we shouldve felt nothing but dread for rhaenyra. But we didnt and the choke came out of nowhere. Because to us the show was building towards daemon never hurting his family as his one(1) and only redeeming quality that was keeping him away from straight up villain territory. And the fact that even the writers had to come out and explain that scene is proof they either failed to do what they wanted to do or they used a scene of domestic violence as ultimately just for shock value.
Tumblr media
"Shock value is the potential of an image, text, action, or other form of communication, such as a public execution, to provoke a reaction of sharp disgust, shock, anger, fear, or similar negative emotions".
Unfortunately American media is full of it. It's kind of their thing. It's easy to provoke an emotional reaction, it's very difficult to create a multilayered story. So they prefer the former.
House of the Dragon particularly suffers from it. Examples:
Viserys ordering the slaughter of his wife and showing that slaughter on screen. No guys it's not a feminist take. Showing a woman's belly being cut in half is not feminism. It's shock value.
Laena ordering her dragon to burn her alive when she was already dying anyway. Again, not feminism, sorry. The quiet tragedy of a woman dying in childbirth and the grief of her husband are obviously not impressive enough for dumb Americans so let's include a totally idiotic suicide that makes zero sense narratively just to provoke a reaction = shock value.
Larys masturbating on Alicent's feet. Adds nothing to the narrative, we already know that Larys is evil as fuck and we already know that Alicent is using him to USURP the rightful heir. These things are already established. A negotiation that should have been meaningful for Alicent's character, by showing her cunningness, determination and plotting skills is reduced to meaningless victimisation, thus objectifying one of the main ANTAGONISTS of the series in order to evoke a reaction of disgust = shock value.
Rhaenys' girlbossification. Added absolutely nothing to the narrative apart from shock, sure, kill a bunch of civilians just to threaten the usurpers? And then leave? What? One of the most stupid scenes in the show.
Crispy Cream killing Laenor's lover. Another extremely stupid scene. Didn't make ANY sense, Crispy got zero conséquence for it, I literally don't understand why that scene was included other than its shock value because it's a game of thrones wedding.
Daemon killing Rhea. Jeez. Horrible, horribly shot, horribly acted, Daemon had less human traits than a fucking Dementor I mean WTF. Am I supposed to care about this woman that appeared on screen for 1 minute? Lol I literally dgaf. It was included merely for shock value and it didn't even shock me because it was just so pointless. That's another level of lame right there.
Daemon choking Rhaenyra, the woman he spent 10+ years pining after, the woman he wanted to protect by exiling himself. The woman that just lost their baby and her throne. That woman. Sure guys domestic violence can occur in a couple that seemed to love each other deeply before the first violent strike, but that's real life. In fiction, it doesn't work that way, sorry. In fiction, when you show a character having a certain trait, you fucking STICK.TO.IT. You don't change that on a whim. If you show that Daemon is loyal to his family, he needs to stay loyal to his family, period. Characters in fiction have an interior logic that doesn't exist in the real world. Real people don't necessarily have that interior logic but fictional characters do. You mess up that logic, you fuck up the story. Aristotle said about tragedy that characters need to be static and that is the most important part. STATIC. It's the narrative that moves the characters forward. They don't just randomly throw a fit out of nowhere because of a random change in personality. But if you use the word STATIC to an American producer they may faint out of boredom because they have literally two brain cells. So yeah again, adds nothing to the narrative apart from shock. Not feminism, just stupid shock value.
Ned's death and Cersei putting Joffrey on the throne were shocking scenes but we ALREADY KNEW that Joffrey is a piece of shit and Cersei wants to put him on the throne. We were only interested in the how the hell are they gonna do that. And when we saw it it was magnificent. It elevated their character arcs by moving the plot forward. That's great storytelling.

even though Storms end is depicted as an accident, it's still Aemond's fault and with him having so little screentime people barely recognize that he has a trauma (or several of them). When we see Rhaenyra suffer, it's long big scenes like the one where she walks for 10 minutes bleeding (that scene was also an introduction of Olivia's Alicent and they did her so dirty), but when Aemond loses an eye, he screams for two seconds and then we just see the aftermath and he never cries. A child is portrayed reacting as adult, when he comforts his mother with "it was a fair exchange" line and people really think it was fair. He also was made to fight two girls which didn't happen in the books, the Strongs boys attacked him with wooden swords, they were younger but still. e also didn't threaten them that they will die like their father did, like, this stuff is no way sympathetic to the general audience and ofc they sympathize with the kids who were shown as cute previously (people also ignore bullying and don't take it seriously because it looked like a one time thing in the show).
Why is this fandom so sure Condal loves Aemond? It's too early to say anyway but I don't know, even if he is less terrible than other men of TG, it doesn't mean he loves him. Why did he make Luke into such a baby then when Luke was a trained squire and wasn't so infantilized in the book as he was in the show? Nah, they just wanted to make Aemond look bad:
“It's really a bullying sequence, torture sequence, chase sequence, where Luke is trying to escape,” showrunner Ryan Condal says in “Inside the Episode.” There's “no real hope of Arrax fighting Vhagar...but Luke relies on the speed of his dragon and the maneuverability to try to escape.”
People don't see Aemond as someone worth sympathy when he does it, and his trauma was never explored to justify his behavior. When we see Rhaenyra suffer, it's long big scenes like the one where she walks for many minutes bleeding (that scene was also an introduction of Olivia's Alicent and they did her SO DIRTY), but when Aemond loses an eye, he screams for two seconds and then we just see the aftermath and he never cries. A child is portrayed reacting as an adult also when he comforts his mother with "it was a fair exchange" line and people really think it was fair. And even his mother seemingly forgets what happened, she looks horrified for cutting Rhaenyra. He also was made to fight two girls which didn't happen in the books, the Strongs boys attacked him with wooden swords, they were younger but still (GRRM's way of writing kids is ridiculous, his 3 yo Joffrey is wandering around the castle on his own like what). He also didn't threaten them that they will die like their father, this stuff is in no way sympathetic to a general audience and ofc they sympathize with the kids who were shown as cute previously. And people also ignore his bullying and don't take it seriously because it looked like a one time thing in the show which again, thanks Ryan.
i mean, sure, i get it, but we do not look at aemond's story compared to rhaenyra because that is just not realistic. there was never any intention from the writers to portray any of the green children in the same way they portray rhaenyra, screentime and development time. from the beginning they were set on this being the story of the queen and the princess.
and further than that, i agree with your gripes about aemond, however.... look at the other green children: aegon is introduced as a bully hypersexual drunkard who turns into a rapist drunkard who also goes to children fighting pits and does not care about his kids or his dragon, helaena's character is most often used as a mouth piece for prophecies that no one understands and daeron... isn't present.
i understand the issues with aemond's portrayal and how some people percieve him, but i think it's fair to say that out of all the children, aemond's the most loved and the most popular with the most depth and development
i remember ryan condal speaking about ewan saying "he came into that room as aemond! i just remember quietly saying to the casting director afterwards: ‘he’s fantastic, i have to have him… is he always like that?" and i think the fact that he got this much better story that we've talking about is proof that when it comes to the green kids, he's probably his favorite
i guess i didn't properly express myself. i think the show will always treat tb characters better no matter what they do...
you could probably get some tb stans to admit privately that luke himself isn't all that interesting as a character, but he is rhaenyra's son and is tb and the show focuses on rhaenyra and tb stans are many
but yes, if we focus solely on aemond's story, i understand all these complaints. however, the context matters too
hopefully this makes more sense

I wouldn’t blame the sins of the mother on her children (the knife fight is totally on them, they consciously decided to play dirty). If it wasn’t for the knife, I’d have been more forgiving. But there was a knife so yup. Honestly from what we have seen of Harwin, I don’t think HE would have been pleased his boys yanked out a knife, making the fight unfair. If he was able to act as a father, he might have even wanted to hold them accountable- alas, he couldnt.
Overall, the boys (Jace at least), seem to have a vague sense of responsibility in their older age. We didn’t get much Harwin screen time, but if he was a mentor to the boys like Criston was to Alicent’s kids, there’s definitely a chance that Jace and Luce have what I would say is…potential. They’ve obviously got their faults, but they’re not Aegon and Aemond.
I think the honest issue is Jace and Luce are/were blank slates. If season 2 can pace itself better, we will see Jace get an actual personality because 1), he’ll be more center stage up until he dies, and 2) He’s definitely aware that Harwin is his true born father. It’s always Jace that reacts first to the bastard accusation. So Luce ultimately drank his mothers kool-aid. Jace did as well, but with him it’s akin to drinking something you know is bad for you, but you do it anyway, trying to convince yourself that it’s good when it’s just awful.
On a side note, isn’t Daeron supposed to be a good cinnamon roll? What was he doing in Oldtown? Did he spend much of his life there?
I wouldn't blame Rhaenyra or any parent for every shitty thing their kids did. That's not fair. But that knife incident was totally a horrendously bad parenting move on her part, and it tainted how her sons dealt with anger and personal responsibility. She was the one who lied and gaslight her way out of having her sons face ANY punishment for slashing her little brother's eye out. She was the one who asked for her disabled and traumatized little brother to be tortured. No wonder her sons ended up feeling zero guilt and even openly mocked Aemond when they were grown enough to self-reflect. Rhaenyra's actions on that day taught them it's ok to react with extreme violence when someone insults them and it's ok to lie and manipulate and appeal to authority to avoid any consequences and it's cool to not feel any remorse for any of this bullshit. She loved her sons, but she was a bad mother.
I don't think it mattered that Harwin wasn't able to act like a father toward his sons. He was still an active and important male figure in their lives and they bonded with him, enough to grieve losing him. And there is nothing that points to Laenor being anything but an active, caring father. So the boys had two father figures in their lives who openly cared for them... and yet they still turned out like that.
They’ve obviously got their faults, but they’re not Aegon and Aemond.
Luke and Jace might be more outwardly "nice" and put together, but they're not less fucked up than Aemond. Aemond had enough decency to try to console Luke and Jace after they lost Harwin, and they were his bullies at that time. Aegon was a different story. He was severely emotionally neglected by his father, and his mother was too young and traumatized to raise him properly on her own, and she had no support. No shit he's gonna be more fucked up. Rhaeyra's mental health was relatively fine, had way more freedom, and she had two caring "husbands" to help her raise Luke and Jace. What is her kids' excuse for being fucked up? There is none. She just spoiled them like her father spoiled her.
On a side note, isn’t Daeron supposed to be a good cinnamon roll? What was he doing in Oldtown? Did he spend much of his life there?
I have no idea, lol. The writers should have mentioned him, but they didn't. It will make his introduction in season 2 very awkward.
