Effloresce Snippet
He kissed both her cheeks, bending even lower to raise Nesta’s right hand, pressing her cold knuckles to his brow in solemn salute.
“Nesta Archeron,” Jurian said, like her name was twice its length, a foreign weighted history, “You ready to know whose blood runs in your veins?”
Nesta, who had lived this particular conversation thrice over now, only shook her head. Touched between his brows in curious, only half-understood benediction, allowing him to step away. “Jurian. You survived the fires.”
His smile was only in his eyes, rainwater grey searingly bright. “You wouldn’t waste time sending messages to corpses.”
Nadia, from where she’d stopped three swaggering paces into the room, shedding her coat and swords with utterly false carelessness, huffed out a rough laugh. It was a bizarre comfort to see her, unchanged- strong brown hands dense with tattoos that bloomed into looser patterns up her arms, those knives and that hideous leather vest, remnants of a life that seemed nearly simple, now. So very far away.
She cast a scathing look at Nesta’s guard, the Illyrian busy visibly wishing murder upon Jurian, his entire focus held on the distance between their bodies.
“Protection has gotten more interesting,” she said, tone blithe, “Where’s your Vanserra?”
“Honeymoon.” Nesta let herself lean back onto the desk, hand behind her body biting into its ash lip. Dawn, Winter, reconnaissance. Elain walking underhill in mortal wedding pearls, Lucien at her back.
A heaved sigh, Jurian’s head oh so briefly dipped. “Wars and weddings, my lady. Blessings.”
“When you were our age, humans couldn’t marry.”
“Nor does he believe in any damned gods,” Nadia crossed the room fae quick, expression wicked as the guard flinched, stopping right alongside Nesta. A test, twofold- Nesta didn’t pull a knife as Nadia had once taught her, the legionnaire didn’t start in on violence without orders. “Don’t believe the prayers, unless they’re bloody.”

A gentle word to my seniors and juniors born in the year of the Rat:
You mustn't belittle yourself. By all accounts, the Rat shouldn't have stood a chance in the Great Race, with its small size and short legs. It shouldn't even have made it into the zodiac - everyone else was physically bigger, faster, stronger. Yet there it is, the first of the twelve. That it used its wits and charm to trick the cat and the ox is true. But personally speaking? Trickster spirits are welcome in this wild, harsh world of ours. Use all the guile you have, and bring us hope; in a world which expects the little guys to lose, you spring surprises, you play tricks and you gain victory. Right now, we could do with more of that for the underdogs (and rats).
And another small word to my seniors and juniors born in the year of the Goat:
What would we do without you? You were there on the raft, with the Monkey and the Rooster, pulling together through weeds and muck. All of the others were competing, each animal for themselves, but you were different. You saw clearly that collaboration and cooperation - community - was the best way. And when you reached the finish line, everyone saw that you were the glue of the team. You held them together, you pushed them onwards. Do not underestimate your ability to unite us, and lead us past our selfish fighting.
The cycle isn't complete with just dragons and nagas; we need all of you.

Since when did we start charging money on patreon for fanfics 😭😭😭😭 is this for real😭
hi, love. I haven't seen that many people doing the Patreon thing when it comes to fanfic, but it's pretty common for people who draw for example to set up a Patreon. I believe that everyone who does, just like myself, needs the money. I wouldn't be doing it if i didn't need to. I figured the Patreon setup was the best idea since it's not really that common for people to tip writers, we've been struggling with getting reblogs and comments, so you can imagine.
Right now, I'm applying and doing tests to get an internship, which still won't be enough because I'm also trying to apply for a master's. So, yeah, I'm really thankful for everyone who tipped me on ko-fi and subscribed to my Patreon, last month my savings were over, and the Patreon money was what helped me pay for some medical stuff I needed (Idk if you saw the whole mick schumacher's sick club, but yeah — huge thank you for everyone who subscribed/donated btw).
We often see fic writers as little robots who don't eat, drink, or sleep. We request stuff, and expect an instant reply, and when we get the content we don't even go back to the page to tell the writer our thoughts. We don't reblog, nor leave comments, but still, we expect them to keep writing and keep sharing everything as if it didn't take hours, sometimes days to come up with a 1k piece polished to what we think readers will like best. I hope I don't sound rude, I'm just trying to make a point because I'm tired of seeing writers deactivating, tired of seeing my friends getting writer's block and then people still demanding things.
On top of that, I'm still posting a lot here, from smau to blubs and long fic requests (and I won't even talk about how some pieces aren't even getting a hundred notes, which always makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong, if my writing is bad, or if there's anything that I could do to make the reader's experience more enjoyable), and it takes a lot of time, it's even harder to balance the two profiles now, but still, I keep sharing some of my work for free. so please, please, don't make me feel bad about needing money. thanks ❤️.
