you know what i think

i think fanfic authors don't talk nearly enough about the themes they write in their own fics because they've been led to believe it's cringy if they do it on their own. that they need to wait for this gospel wielding reviewer who's going to understand the theme perfectly and notice all of the nuance and leave no stone unturned. that's a lot of pressure to put on a person who might just read a fic and comment superficially because they don't understand, don't have the words to explain, or otherwise don't WANT to get into the nitty gritties of the works. or the 'tiny intestines' how we like to say details in my language.

in my personal opinion the author should have full right and support to just go online, on their blog or other type of platform they're using and just go HAM. you posted a chapter, it's passed a couple of days, people have read it, you just go and TALK about that chapter. if you feel the inclination of course. or you go make MEMES about your own works. you ENTERTAIN YOURSELF first!! you know how they say you need to put your air mask on first and then help someone? BESTIE, SAME THING!

you feel like nobody in the reviews has commented on something you want to talk about - you start the dialogue yourself and see who joins up - there'll always be someone.

being your own biggest fan makes so you won't get bored of writing. and what do fans do? they talk about the work.

don't just sit in front of your computer and click refresh hoping someone reviews. it's discouraging! it's downright scary and sad! hell i wish i knew this when i was starting out ten years ago. i was so dead set on being the proper fanfic authorTM. now? after COVID???? nah, nobody's got the time for that.

you be the literature teacher talking about colour usage and prose and metaphors in your own fic. like you are SMART for using that colour. Like YEP people DEF need to pay attention but if they don't? if too much is going on in a chapter and people don't notice? This isn't a classic literature class man, just point it out to them. The pay off will be super cool and interesting anyway. Don't spoil your work, I mean (unless you want to, like what are they gonna do? you're the author you can just do a 180 and say psyche and fuck with them) but nudging your reading pals in the right direction like oh dude the colour red? the leitmotif of this story's progressing in xyz? nudge nudge, that might or might not come up later you know ;)

You know how you have those 10 page summaries in the beginning of classic books that explain the book to you and then you read the book and understand it? Don't put so much on the readers. Don't think they'll catch every little detail.

This isn't saying in no shape or form to dumb it down - just if you want to talk about it - you MENTION it. you praise yourself, buddy! you make your own memes if no one else will because you know how to have fun.

and trust me you know the characters the best for your own story so unless you actually talk about it, rarely will anyone else do it for you. they'll be too shy. they might think it's not their place. but if you do it? nobody can tell you shit.

ahhhhhh! but what if someone calls me cringy for doing it and says my story is shit because nobody else thought to say stuff like this first and it looks desperate that i'm talking about it?

i mean lmao take it from someone who's been in this game for over 10 years now - like - it's super fucking cringy* that you're writing fanfic. have FUN with it :D

being a celebrity meant that no matter what, one thing would always be a fixed thing in your life. and that was the rumours.

one week you were dating a new guy. the next, you were engaged to some kid from your hometown. the next week, you were back with your ex.

no matter what, the dating rumours always flew around you. maybe the fact that you never made it public with anyone fuelled those even more. whatever the case, it was funny reading them.

especially when you thought about what you had planned for tonight.

a knock sounded on your door, followed by a familiar voice, "did someone order some flowers?"

you couldn't help the smile growing on your face as you made eye contact with auston in the mirror.

you were in your dressing room at the stadium, getting ready for the opening night of your multi-month tour. you'd worked hard to get to where you were now -- one of the most successful female artists in the world.

and right there by your side, supporting you for the past year, was none other than auston matthews, your boyfriend. you'd met at a leafs game years ago, but he'd only reached out to you just over a year before. ever since then, the two of you kept your relationship under wraps for the most part, doing your best to just enjoy your time together without the media's comments.

you'd talked about going public before, but for the most part, decided to let life take it's course. of course... tonight would be a pretty big surprise.

"hi, you made it," you got up from your chair, sinking into his arms for a hug.

"i wouldn't miss this for the world," he responded, placing a kiss to the top of your head. "it's my girl's big day. first tour in almost three years. nothing's gonna stop me from being here."

you grinned stupidly to yourself, finding auston's words so comforting and sweet. even after a whole year, he managed to make you feel giddy.

"i'm really happy you're here," you whispered, pulling away. "oh! i've got a surprise for you, but i can't give it to you right now. i'll give it after, okay?"

"a surprise for me?" auston repeated. "it's your day."

"hush, i wanted to do it," you said.

another knock sounded on your door, and your assistant, jenny, poked her head in. "y/n, we've got to start in ten. let's go. auston, mark's got your seat saved. head over quick, or someone'll spot you."

"that's not a big deal," auston waved it off. "if someone spots me, they spot me. it's not the end of the world."

"well, fact remains, we need y/n right now," she said. "c'mon, you can have her back when she's done her show."

"i'll see you soon," you kissed auston, before following jenny out to your position.

you adjusted your earpiece, waiting for the lights to dim. as soon as they did, the platform you were standing on moved higher, allowing you to enter directly on stage.

the lights turned back on, and the crowd went wild.

"let the show begin," you whispered to yourself.

"'cause karma is the thunder," you sang, "rattling your ground. karma's on your scent like a bounty hunter. karma's gonna track you down."

the crowd waved their flashlights in the air, following you as you continued dancing to the beat of the song, singing along. getting closer and closer to the surprise you planned for auston.

"step by step from town to town," you continued. "sweet like justice, karma is a queen. karma takes all my friends to the summit..."

you paused for half a second, allowing production to ready themselves and for the crowd to pay attention to the small change.

"karma is the guy on the leafs, coming straight home to me!"

you stomped on the mark, blue sparklers going off on either side of the stage -- matching with the colour of your dress and the leafs' colours.

the crowd screamed as you continued your performance, losing their minds at the confirmation that you and auston were dating.

"cause karma is my boyfriend," you locked eyes with auston in the crowd, noticing him smiling widely to himself as people nearby recorded the interaction. winking at him, you continued your song, "karma is a god."

the crowd continued chanting throughout the song, no one truly getting over the lyric change you'd done.

you had a feeling there were gonna be rumours about this for a while.

Among the three remaining dramas that are all on the bubble, NCIS: Hawai’i is the strongest performer with the best odds to come back, I hear.

Just an year ago, a renewal for Hawai’i would’ve been a no-brainer: it’s part of a storied franchise with solid rating and crossover potential with the mothership series that yielded big ratings in January 2023. But now, CBS already has three other NCIS series already locked for next season: the original series, renewed for Season 22, Sydney, returning for a second season, and the upcoming Young Gibbs prequel NCIS: Origins. There is also the Tony & Ziva NCIS spinoff series greenlighted by Paramount+, making for a crowded NCIS field.

There are strong arguments for keeping Hawai’i. It is currently #12 in linear viewership among all broadcast non-sports shows ahead of such TV staples as ABC’s 9-1-1 and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and The Voice, and its multi-platform audience also is putting Hawai’i above several CBS dramas that already have been renewed, including FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International and S.W.A.T.

As CBS Studios President David Stapf said in a recent interview about the NCIS franchise, Hawai’i also is “wholly unique” while being part of the franchise as the first NCIS series with a female lead, Vanessa Lachey, and with its Hawai’i locale. “We were just coming off Hawaii Five-0, a very successful show,” he said of the spinoff’s origins. “People love that setting, it plays well over the globe.”

The counter argument is all about shelf space (or lack thereof) and money. There is financial pressure on corporate level among all traditional media companies to curb spending amid a soft ad market. For CBS parent Paramount, there is the additional element of uncertainty over the company’s future.

Sources expect tough business conversations over NCIS: Hawai’i, which is likely to have to make budget cuts to continue — something most broadcast series are subjected to these days. I hear the best case scenario for the spinoff may be a partial Season 4 of about 13 or so episodes.

You are the wife of one of his business partners, not one of those betting licence owners

He sits on the British Racing Board of Directors, not that he had ever earned it, no. Your kind didn't earn things, they inherit them, at least if they were men and that was your problem

If you had been born a man you could have been brilliant, a scientist, an explorer, a general or a politician

But you were a woman and so you had to make do with being a wife to a man who had all the freedoms in the world while convention tied you down and a mother to children who were placed in the arms of nannies and governesses as soon as they were born, who all knew so much better than you and didn't hesitate to remind you, so you'd given up before the second one was even born

You place was on the arm of a man who wasn't half as intelligent as you, being introduced to men who all saw you as nothing but a pretty face and important name even though you could see right through them and their false courtesies

And Tommy Shelby saw through yours.

He noticed almost immediately that you were too intelligent for the act you put on and confronted you in such an arrogant manner it made your blood boil

But your station and role didn't allow yourself to turn down the dance he asked of you

So you bit back your venom and agreed

Unfortunately he was not only the only other sapient being for a hundred miles but also an excellent dancer

He knows you know all the dirty little secrets of the people around and since you're bored and he is the best company this hellhole can provide, you tell him

While most other gentlemen end up in the smoking room gambling their inherited fortunes away he ended up fucking you in the orangery.

It was a one time thing, nothing more, part boredom and part irritation that your husband had begun to sleep with one of the nursery maids. That was far from a rarity, but it did annoy you that she was one of the maids assigned to watch over your children- not that there was anything you or any other woman in your position could do about it

But then your husband enters business with Tommy Shelby and he comes to your house to discuss it

You ignore him successfully the first two times, because nothing is worse than when they catch feelings, but during the dinner your husband had invited you, his calm, disinterested demeanour irritated you and you didn't fail to notice the affection he showed your sister in law, who was as dense as the wall of the house you lived in

You showed him in your tea room what it meant to be lady of the house and that devil had the audacity to mock you for caving so easily

Unfortunately you saw him again and again all throughout the season, at races and at dinners, at lunches, at evening events- even at an auction once.

Everytime he found his way to your side and got under your skin

The problem was, he was so very good at what he did, and he did things your husband would never dare, but sex was one thing...the other, however...

Tommy Shelby isn't shy of asking your help, telling you plainly as you fixed your clothes after an encounter during a ballet performance of Onegin that he needed your cultural capital and offered to pay you for it too, behind your husband's back - that you were useful for him, not your name, not even your body, but your expertise

No one had ever said that to you, no one that had ever meant it

So you taught him, from proper addressing to dining etiquette, not shying away from soiling dirty secrets and sharing rumours that might help him

The inevitable happened and he got too close. One time, the last time, he crossed a line when he stroked your cheek and suggested that perhaps if you tried spending more time with your children you'd feel less unhappy. How dare he presume to know? He was a nobody, who didn't even understand the difference between a baron and a baronet before he met you and now he was assuming to tell you you were unhappy? And what did he know of having children that, before they were anything else, were heirs and thereby nothing but property of the institution they had been born into?

He had no right to speak of things he - a man - could never understand

So you cut him off. No more meetings. No more dances. Not anything.

You go back to the way you had always been- a statue of a woman, not dignifying your husband's affairs with even the slightest reaction, all alone on the pedestal the world, fate and your parents, had chosen to put you on

It worked for three months until you overheard a plan your husband and a few of his friends had. They had been offered good money to test a certain of Tommy Shelby's horses during one of the races and would find wrongdoings which would see him banned for life, if not criminally charged. One Irish voice seemed particularly keen on that.

So you had to make a choice

I never have understood the existence of Zarries. They can’t be 1D fans, they have to be people who discovered the band via Zarry videos.

1D fans know how vicious Harry was towards Zayn in 2015/16. He found every opportunity to take a stab at him and be passive aggressive.

Then with his second album when his mantra changed to TPWK, he talked about it like he didn’t know how Zayn was struggling. If he had known, he would have tried to help out. Yeah right, cause he was so helpful to all the other members of the band who have spoken about their struggles openly from Liam to Louis.

Zayn’s struggles and his wish to leave the band weren’t exactly hidden. The whole 1D fandom and the media knew about it for a couple of years before he left. Funny how it all passed by the ever empathetic Harry Styles.

Has any one ever seen Harry help out anyone other than doing gender reveals, dishing out relationship advice and facilitating people’s coming out for the entertainment of his audience.

He has bought fish for a multi-millionaire, his kindness knows no bounds.

Having a subjectively perceived “mean vibe” (what does that even mean? like he gives people the middle finger, or can joke around without a memorized script?) is better having an objectively inauthentic, superficially nice and crowd-sourced TPWK motto which has only been used to sell overpriced, poorly made baubles.

While the actual meanness is in talking shit about your bandmate’s mental health struggles (or pretending you didn’t know about it while he lost a few stones in weight), or hiring people who talk trash about your ex-bandmates, or blocking their success while building your robo presence in pop culture, or buying expensive fish for his musical idol, merely days— days— after his little sister died.

Or taking advantage of your huge platform on an album release interview with Zane Lowe— of all people— to cast shade on his dead mother.

Or using him via HBO fanfiction to sell yourself as some sort of LGBT savior. Without alerting him and without his consent.

Did Niall do any of these things? No.

Did Liam? No.

As much as Zayn has fallen out with the group, did he do any of these things? No.

Harry Styles, with more than £150 million to his name, with ownership of performance venues and meditation apps and nail polish companies and a second £multimillion record deal— none of this was enough for Harry.

Harry couldn’t feel good about himself until he was extremely unkind to his former bandmates.

This long but it is important... vitally important. LIFE SAVING LEVEL OF IMPORTANT particularly in regards to reproductive rights being under major attack, so please, please read.

With Roe being threatened there is a MUCH LARGER THAN EXPECTED (though maybe I shouldn't be surprised tbh), very misinformed, dangerous movement of people sharing herbs that are Abortifacients (which are TOXIC which is how they're able to cause an abortion) to large platforms of people, on all sorts of platforms with social media, from 13 years old and up, and giving HORRIBLE "advice" about it, which is at least 95% misinformation, and thus VERY concerning.

It's particularly prevalent on TikTok and the Discord servers these larger WitchTok creators have set up.

Including, but not limited to, vague AF instructions and dosing amounts, vague or flat out incorrect ways of dosing (tisane vs tincture vs topical vs THE BIG NO NO OF INSERTING IT), and apparently failing to realize that the SAFER and MORE SUCCESSFUL herbal abortions are blends of herbs to help balance the other effects, NOT JUST TAKING A LARGE (or multiple doses) OF A SINGLE TYPE OF HERB that's contraindicated for pregnancy.

PLEASE speak out against this.

I'm familiar with herbalism, grew up in a heavily holistic household, enough so that I know how damaging and deadly these methods have the potential to EASILY be, PARTICULARLY WHEN NOT UNDER THE GUIDANCE AND CARE OF A PROFESSIONAL, LICENSED, HERBALIST, preferably also with at least midwife involved.

They're also encouraging people to LIE TO DOCTORS about why they're seeking medical attention if (WHEN) something goes wrong. (Things like "tell them you ate something and now your stomach hurts.)

I have a a small, but decent amount of information and am looking into it further and am happy to share what I know, as well as anything other trustworthy people have made speaking out about it, of which there are plenty of TikToks for example.

But yeah, I am very concerned about how many people might end up with:

1. The "less" serious side effects (and yet, still ranging from potentially permanently damaging to life threatening) like burning a hole in their stomach, raging fevers, vomiting, diarrhea (all potentially extreme enough to need medical attention), dizziness (that sometimes doesn't go away), seizures etc

2. HEMORRHAGING, since some of these herbs increase flow to the pelvic area and uterus while others SLOW CLOTTING AND ALSO WEAKEN THE BLOOD VESSELS.

3. A number of different organs and systems that can be damaged like liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, nervous systems, cardiovascular system, brain, etc...

4. Organ failure/multi organ failure (mostly of those same organs)

5. Not successfully aborting the fetus and instead giving them extreme birth defects etc.

6. DEATH.

(Among other things, of course, like first and foremost allergies you may have to that family of plant, or contraindications for specific health conditions, or medication you're on, or hell your favorite herbal tea, essential oils etc etc)

I know people are scared, scared of losing their rights, scared about "what if" happens to them or someone they love, I know there is a resurgence of witchcraft, and as a result also natural treatments, but it's not coming from SAFE sources and these things really shouldn't be performed without being under the care of someone who knows their shit.

I also know that the lesson that needs to be driven home is one my momma taught us all:

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's safe. Rattlesnake venom is natural but you don't see people lining up for that. And sure, deadly nightshade and foxglove are natural AND have been turned into the basis of medication commonly used by western doctors even, but if you don't know WTF you're doing with them, they'll kill you, very easily. Flowers we think of as harmless or ornamental can also be CRAZY POISONOUS. Have you heard of Oleander? Lily of the Valley?

As someone who only went through a (fairly short) phase of not using holistic treatments due to toxic living situations and the way I treated for using them plus not being allowed to spend money ON these items, I can honestly say I'm pretty sure I'm only as functional as a human being as I am because the holistic health care treats everything, and fills in the many, many, many gaps in "traditional" western medicine.

My quality of life got better once I was able to start practing what I know again.

I don't want to scare people away from ALL herbalism or holistic care... or to put it more accurately, I don't want to scare people away from herbalism (including Chinese herbalism), aromatherapy, homeopathy, Bach Flower Essences, the various types of body work etc AT ALL, since honestly it can be so good, so helpful, so healing.

By itself or in conjunction with western medicine, holistic health care and approaches to care and healing in general can change your life.

I just wanna put the rightful fear of REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES into them regarding using unreliable and uneducated sources (like strangers on the internet who spout some shit off but don't go IN DEPTH about the dangers and how you need a professional for any BIG thing you want to do, and for many herbs used to treat many small things... and how you also shouldn't get your advice from all the various MLMs (like they did with Young Living and DoTerra which ALSO resulted in a LARGE increase in serious injuries from the (mis)use of essential oils), which are now starting to crop up regarding witchcraft and as they pick up speed I'm sure they're gonna include "herbal remedies" etc as well, cause essential oils and supplements weren't enough) so that fear of THE POTENTIAL DANGERS like organ failure and DEATH helps make sure they go TO legit fully trained, went to school for it, professional, certified/licensed holistic healthcare practioners who got these degrees from an accredited college and in order to BE certified/licensed they had to pass board exams/other monitored testing to prove they know their shit etc.

(But also not sorry cause if this helps to save even ONE person from making a bad choice, then it's worth it.)

Soon, a set of NFTs will be released that will be illustrated through pop art, coupled with his well-known voice.

Residing in the blockchain, this triple featured multi-media NFT project is called The Masters Audio Art Collection. Created from exclusive audio recordings of celebrities reciting their favourite poems converged with the progressive digital artists from the OWNFT Studio, the creative arm of OWNFT World - a Singapore end-to-end Web3 and blockchain solutions developer.

The Masters Audio Art Collection NFTs are a collection of artistic creativity from three individuals. The poet who wrote the poem, the celebrity who recites it, and the artist who illustrates the pop art that will tie everything together into a one-of-a-kind pop art NFT.

The Tom Hiddleston collection features the actor reciting excerpts from 12 of his favourite classic poems including “The Mower” by Philip Larkin, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “I am” by John Clare. Drawing inspiration from the pop art movement, The Masters Audio Art Collection aims to celebrate cultural icons as the masters of their field. Through the art of rendering techniques, each piece of art is prepared to blend into the audio, so buyers can somewhat feel each word being spoken. This meticulously curated 360 NFT is a collectible that is planned to celebrate the mastery of performing art skills surpassing time and cultural progress, a collection aimed at both digital art lovers and fans alike.

According to Fiorenzo Manganiello, the President of the Lian Group’s Lian Foundation, which was set up to collect NFT art and to support millennial arts digital education, “Masters Audio Art is leading a new trend appearing in the space of iconic pop art NFTs,” He specified after being invited for a private viewing of the Collection. “They are moving towards merging conventional arts through time and medium on blockchain to ensure the authenticity and conservation of celebrity pop art.”

Series two of the collection is set to feature Dame Helen Mirren, best known for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the movie The Queen, and as Queenie in the recent F9: The Fast Saga.

The Masters Audio Art NFTs are available for sale from the 14th of May on OpenSea. A premium Web3 NFT marketplace.

The owners of Tom Hiddleston’s NFTs can also invite people to attend Tom Hiddleston’s Masters Audio Art Exhibit on the upcoming Ploutus platform from OWNFT. In addition to the site, the Ploutus app will be packed with augmented reality (AR), and virtual environments offering multi-level immersive engagements for NFT owners.

Premiering in the Commonwealth Fashion Council (CFC) 3D interactive museum gallery in conjunction with U.K. royal Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee month in June, on the Ploutus app, the interactive art exhibit shall showcase sold NFTs from the series so that owners can display their acquisitions to the world.

“Ploutus is where NFT owners can list, engage, and have fun with their digital assets.” OWNFT World’s founder and director, Patricia Pee stated. She further added that it is more important than ever to create NFT projects that are of value creation, meaningful and can remain relevant for a long time because this is the aim of blockchain in the first place.

Around the viability of the collection, I also spoke to Manav Golecha, an expert in the NFT space, on the viability to scale and sell NFT collections around celebrities in a brief period. Golecha famously started the Women of Crypto collection, which sold 8888 NFTs in 5 months. Women of Crypto however had a particular mission to empower and educate women in this financial and technological revolution.

“Any time you're utilizing a strong brand name - celebrity in this instance - it’s positive when it comes to NFT projects as a whole. Most NFT drops fail because of a lack of marketing and effort. With something like this, it’s important that the advertising of it is spot on, so people know it’s there, and also from a security standpoint it is protected and is on a secure platform. Which it looks like this is.”

From art to enhancing security and helping develop thriving communities - Golecha expands his abilities to make sure a project’s processes are secure end-to-end to benefit its community and to also strengthen the project’s marketing. He further helps NFT projects with auditing smart contracts to identify bugs. This helps NFT collections in optimising gas for their contract to reduce the overall gas fee.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are stolen from people because of hackers in NFT Discord groups. Manav uses his skills in Discord cybersecurity to help NFT projects fight against hackers and remove webhooks from the Discord server. This helps bring down the probability of hacks and keeps the community secure.

Golecha also mentioned the need to give back through collections. He assists NFT collections in partnering with nonprofits to increase their impact. He’s also personally donated $100,000 to two entities, namely Women Who Code and Crypto Chicks.

“Philanthropic endeavors should be a key part of this industry. It’s certainly key for me and I stress to all my clients to make sure that they heavily contemplate how they will give back to a specific community or an area that they are passionate about.”

OWNFT’s Tom Hiddleston project shall be making a contribution to Tom’s favourite social organisations including UNICEF.

Currently, only 1.4 million individuals have activity on OpenSea, an NFT trading platform. Meaning that 99.9% of the internet has not bought an NFT, yet.

Golecha predicts that this will change in 15 years and NFTs will have a significant market.

Two big drivers for this growth according to him will be the upcoming Coinbase marketplace which already has roughly 3.7 million users on the waiting list and Eth 2.0 which will drastically reduce gas fees once the network moves from proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake mechanism.

Hello Friend! Thank you for the distraction!

I started posting 14 years ago in 2009! My girlfriend at the time used Tumblr and I wanted to be one of the cool kids too! Back then I was a LiveJournal guy.

I have accounts on pretty much every social media platform out there (so that no one else can use my "Das Energi" name) but Tumblr is the only one I am still active on.

I like that I can curate what I see on my feed. I don't have any "real life" friends here. On the other platforms I am at the mercy of what they post. Here I add people who post content that interests me.

That is why I have multiple side-blogs. Someone might enjoy the spiritual posts of @dasenergi, but not want to see the nerd content of @male1971

I actually compartmentalize my real-life too. I have my group of theater friends, my Buddhist friends, my Performance Art friends, my gay friends, my New Age friends, etc and very rarely do they cross-over into each other.

How do I keep up with having multiple side-blogs? Other than the bots constantly adding them, I find it easy. That's just how my brain works. I was a librarian for 11 years, so I can compartmentalize, categorize, and multi-task with ease. It's actually easier on me.
