To be or not to be ?! Are you a mushroom expert ? Like #johncage ?! I need some advice. I spotted these two mushrooms in my garden this morning. Look like a puffball ? Or they some type of Agaricus ? Or they belong to Calvatia ? I’m confused throughly. And all these contain several species of edible and poisonous, both varieties. ¿Que es el silencio? Para mi se configura como la posibilidad de pasear a través de los rincones de la memoria, una ruptura de la cotidianidad.

Hoy, a traves del silencio que acompañaba mi lectura matutina, encontré este pasaje: «Lo sagrado esta ligado al silencio. Nos hace escuchar [...] El vacío no significa que no haya nada en el espacio. Es una intensidad, una presencia intensa.».

Este silencio y este pasaje, me remontaron a un pasado ya lejano en el tiempo, sobre el cual conservo aún algunos episodios, un tanto borrosos, pero que se resisten a desaparecer. Y es que solo aquello que resulta significativo para nosotros, es lo que se enraiza en lo más profundo de la vida.

Específicamente me remontan a una pregunta ¿qué es el silencio? y a un ser, al hermano de vida Franklin Manrique, quien como de costumbre, suele posibilitar el encuentro con la palabra y el pensamiento. Y recuerdo que en aquella ocasion, me invitó a escuchar esta pieza, a la que hoy me puedo aproximar con otro sentido. Debió pasar tiempo para poderme encontrar en el silencio.

관심만 갖고 정작 보는 건 몇 년이나 미뤘던 영화들 중, 오늘은 <셜리에 대한 모든 것 (Shirley: Visions of Reality)>을 봤다. 스토리는 모르겠지만 에드워드 호퍼의 ��림들이 영화 장면들에 반영되어 그대로 나온다고 화제가 됐던 영화였다. 미술에 조예가 있는 편은 아니지만 예전부터 호퍼의 그림을 좋아하긴 했었고, 마침 호퍼 전시도 열릴 때 다녀왔었는데 (다만 시간이 없어 도슨트 따라 정신없이 보고 나와서 조금 아쉬웠지만) 이왕 생각난 거 이번 주말에 큰맘 먹고 보기로 했다.

솔직히 말하면, 영화는 지루했다. 호퍼 그림 그대로 장면을 만들어 낸 아이디어는 좋았지만, 더 재미있게 영화를 만들 수는 없었나 싶은... (사실은 어제 반 정도 보다가 잠들어서; 오늘 나머지를 봤다.)

위의 장면들은 모두 호퍼 그림과 거의 똑같은(?!) 화면이다. 호퍼 그림들이 약간 고독한 느낌이 있다고는 하는데, 그래서인가 이 영화에 나온 주인공 여자(Shirley겠지... 영화 어디에서도 그녀의 이름을 불러주는 사람은 없었다)의 나레이션도 그냥 혼잣말이었다. 극중에서 Shirley는 연극 배우인 것 같긴 한데, 그 외에는 딱히 뭐 스토리가 특별하게 있는 건 아닌 것 같다. 그냥 눈으로 호퍼 그림이 움직이는 걸 본다는 걸로 만족하면 될 듯...? 주변에 추천할 만한 영화는 아니었다. (사실 추천할 수 있긴 한데 - 잠 안 오는 사람에게 보여주면 좋을 듯. ㅋ)

영화 볼 때마다 사운드트랙을 꼭 보는데, 나와 연관된 음악이 하나 있었다.

A Milano nel 1977 John Cage con il suo concerto provocò un vero e proprio sollevamento di popolo, un tumulto, con tanto di pubblico sul palco che cercava di strappargli il microfono. E tutto a causa del modo in cui aveva redistribuito i silenzi. Tutti i link alla fine della pagina, dopo latrascrizionei n italiano e la traduzione in inglese. TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below] Oggi voglio parlarvi di silenzio, ma non del silenzio a cui sono stata costretta per quasi un mese perché ho perso la voce, no. Voglio parlarvi del silenzio nella sua dimensione politica, perché sono capitata su un filmato che mi ha profondamente colpito. È un filmato di John Cage, risale al 1977 ed è un suo concerto che ha tenuto al Teatro Lirico di Milano. Perché mi ha colpito? Perché dura diverse ore, anche se il video dura un paio di minuti, però il concerto durò moltissime ore e vide una folla inferocita scagliarsi contro John Cage, addirittura andarono sul palco, gli portarono via la luce e la lampada che gli illuminava il luogo di lavoro, gli portarono via il microfono ecc. Perché suscitò così tanto scalpore questo suo concerto, che era anche una presa di posizione politica? Allora, il concerto, l'opera si chiamava Empty Words, parole vuote, cosa fece John Cage, che da sempre è un grande innovatore? Allora prese un brano e non fece altro che suddividere le parole dai silenzi e poi ridistribuire i silenzi in modo arbitrario. L'effetto era abbastanza strano, infatti all'inizio i primi minuti il pubblico era lì, era un pubblico di professionisti, intenditori, maestri d'orchestra, musicisti, studenti del conservatorio. All'inizio l'effetto è un po' così, la gente non sa bene cosa pensare, si sente un fruscio in sala, però man mano che va avanti si rendono conto che questa cosa continua. Ed è un effetto molto straniante, perché non si capiscono le parole, non si capisce bene di che cosa si tratti, poi, ripeto, siamo nel 1977, quindi ancora molti metodi di sperimentazione si stavano, stavano appunto nascendo, l'orecchio non era, non era pronto, non era abituato a certi tipi di rappresentazione e alla fine veramente si sente come man mano dal pubblico prima fischi, poi buu, poi vattene. Alla fine, ripeto, si vedono le persone che letteralmente scendono dalle loro posizioni vanno sul palco quasi un assalto al povero John Cage, che però aveva già programmato tutto, sapeva che questo era quello che doveva succedere e sapeva che questo era quello che, il pubblico doveva reagire così. Tant'è che tra il pubblico - un sacco di gente con l'eskimo tra l'altro, e con la barba - si sente qualcuno che dice no, non reagite, perché se reagite lo state facendo vincere quello che lui vuole che noi reagiamo. ニシジマアツシさんが中心となって10年ぶりに京都芸術センターで開催された「JOHN CAGE / DAVID TUDOR」（11月26日 (土)・27日 (日)）を見てきました。 20年以上前のIAMAS時代にニシジマアツシさんを通じて小杉武久さんと出会い、私が今まで音楽だと思っていたものの外側に広がるサウンドアートの世界を知り、以来たびたび関わらせていただく機会がありました。今回フライヤーのデザインを依頼していただいてとても嬉しく、今までに教えていただいたことを何かデザインの中に映してお礼がしたいと思いました。色々な案を出しましたが、流行りの飾り付けや小手先のテクニックでは相応しいものはできないことを痛感し、ジョン・ケージ、デヴィッド・チューダーの資料を見直しながら、文字をネガポジ反転し、文字ではない部分を使うことで、音楽の外側にある世界を伝えられないかと考えました。コンサートの第１部で上演されたDavid TudorのRainforest IVは、色々な音源の信号を振動に変換し、振動スピーカー（※）が取り付けられたオブジェクトを直接鳴らす作品です。この20年で何度かこの作品を体験する機会がありましたが、今までは、美術館の壁に固定してあったり、ステージで演奏されるものを観客席で聞くものでした。今回は、観客は演奏中ずっと空間内をウロウロして音を体験することができる演出がされていて、長い時間をかけて作品を体験できました。これは今までになかったRainforestの演奏だったのではないかと思います。奇しくも、フライヤーのデザインでDavid Tudorの文字は上下にバラバラと配置された四角や三角になっていて、この作品のオブジェクトを連想するようにもなったのではないか、と勝手に解釈を広げています。（※振動スピーカーとは、本体の底で触れている面に振動を加えて共鳴させることで音を鳴らす性質を持つスピーカーのこと。） #京都芸術センター #johncage #davidtudor #ニシジマアツシ #村井啓哲 #GakSato #吹田哲二郎 #竹村延和 #Haco #恵良真理 #森本ゆり https://www.kac.or.jp/events_archive/ (Kyoto Art Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClgCmCWrIUQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
